A/N: Two Miggy and Sunny fics in one day?! I’m on a role lol. This one wasn’t requested, but the discord gave me a huge inspiration for this so I had to write it. I still haven’t seen the movie lol.

A/N: This takes place before ‘To Love and Hold’, this can kinda serve as an explaination as to why Sunny wants a cat. This is a short little fanfic, but if you wanna see more, check out the Masterlist, and feel free to join the discord, the inspiration for this oneshot.

It was meant to be a harmless prank.

After the events of Miles being chased down by Miguel and the anomaly was fixed, Pavitr thought it would be hilarious to use one of his villains’ gadgets to mess with Miguel as payback.

Hobie and Gwen agreed without second thought while Miles hesitated a bit. The trauma from being attacked for trying to do what was right was still fresh in his mind, so imagining what would happen if he messed with Miguel was absolutely mortifying.

Hobie decided to take one for the team and initiated the plan. It was suppose to be real simple. Turn Miguel into a harmless cat for a while and change him right back. Nothing too physically painful and with four spidermen against one cat, the consequences shouldn’t be too bad, right?

They were so wrong.

“So how’s things going with Miguel?” Jessica asks with a teasing smile. “Finally convinced him to let you move in?”

The small spider blushes as Peter laughs at the women. She mumbles under her breath, “No, Miggy says that he has to make sure me leaving the Headquarters won’t alter with the canon…”

Peter tuts as the three enter through the portal and back to The Lobby as he muses, “That sounds like someone is afraid of commitment.”

“I-I don’t think he’s-!” The trio is interrupted by a bright yellow Ai appearing before them looking like she just had the best laugh of her life. Her virtual hair was a mess while she was wiping her nonexistent tears away with a breath of relief.

“You guys. You literally need to come to the Survaliance room.” She urges with a giggle emerging. “The greatest thing is happening right now.”

Jessica and Peter look at the Ai suspiciously as the small spider tilts her head in confusion.

“What is it?” The ball of sunshine asks before a look of concern flashes over her face. “Is Miguel alright?”

“He’s certainly not.” The Ai screeches in laughter as a distinct yell can be heard. A flash of black and red runs by them as a ball of dark brown fur follows behind. The sound of Miles pleaing for help while an array of hisses and growls follows causes the small spider to swing after them.

“Hey!” She yells as she uses her web to catch the raging ball of fur, only to realize what it was.

A large Maine Coone cat with a deep rich brown coat ruffles under the sticky web as his nearly red eyes focus on Miles in rage. His little growls as he tries to wrangle free from the web come to a halt when an excited squeal cuts him off.

“IT’S KITTY!!” The cat looks up in fright as his huge frame is lift up into the familiar warm arms of the cheert SpiderWoman.

The woman’s own frame was barely bigger than the long frame of the cat as she coos at the now sedated feline. Instead of reacting violent like he was meet minutes ago, he begins to purr as her nails run through fur.

Jessica and Peter look at Miles as he slowly approaches the woman with a cautionary eye as he mumbles. “I’m so sorry, Mr. O’Hara, I didn’t mean to-!”

A low growl comes from the cat as his large tail ruffles up again at the teenager. Peter breaks into laughter as he realizes what happened as Jessica looks horrified. Sunny’s smile brightens even more as she realizes the truth of why this adorable ball of anger reminded her so much of someone.

Miguel O’Hara was turned into a cat.

“Miggy~!” She coos at the cat as she scratches under his chin. “You’re such a handsome Gatito!” She kisses his furry head as he head butts her mouth affectionately. His purrs now out loud as he enjoys being pampered after all the stress he had just went through.

Hobie and Pavitr swing on down with a guilty look on their face as Gwen follows, holding a broken device. Jessica crosses her arms as she glares at each one of the kids.

“Talk. now.” She demands as Peter continues to laugh his ass off.

“Well…” Gwen starts. “We thought that since Miguel went kinda hard on Miles during that whole canon event mess, we decided to play a harmless prank…”

“Harmless?” Jessica quirks an eyebrow as her dark eyes narrow.

Hobie even starts the sweat a little as he stutters. “We were gonna turn him right back after a couple of pictures. Then he went all mad and he jumped us.”

Pavitr gets defensive as he grabs the device from Gwen and waves it around as he emphasizes his point. “And he broke the device! Now how am I gonna explain to Gayatri why get dad’s evidence is-!”

His thumb brushes against a button as the shattered gadget lights up and shoots a beam right at the cooing woman on the ground.

To everyone’s horror, the woman disappears in a flash of smoke, leaving only the now enraged Miguel and a small rag doll cat who was meowing.

The smaller feline meows as she looks around her before the larger Maine coone growls as he glares at Pavitr.

The device was now a melted piece of goo as the teenager’s fate was now sealed.

“Lyla…” Pavitr backs away slowly as an angry cat approaches him. “Can you fix this?…”

“I can.” Lyla admits as she tries not to laugh at the gentle cat waltzes over to Jessica and flop on her back, exposing her stomach for belly rubs. “But it’s gonna take a couple of hours.”

With that, Pavitr books it as the large feline chases him. Jessica laughs as she picks up the small mewling cat and rubs her fur, “When are these two ever gonna catch a break?”

Peter scratches Sunny’s ear as she purs. “Probably never.” He chuckles.

Hours later, Lyla finally manages to recreate the device as the exhausted teens lay on the floor. Each one covered in scratch marks from either trying to escape Miguel or from trying to interact with Sunny.

Lyla laughs as the hero’s groan. “It’s finished. You guys act like cat sitting is hard or something.” She teases as she approaches the couch where the two cats were asleep curled around each other, exhausted from their wild day as cats. A symphony of purrs fill the room as smaller crème colored cat was surrounded by the larger chocolate colored cat. The AI fires the device at the pair and smiles when the sleeping couple returns to normal. However, the purring unexpectedly continued as the sleeping woman snuggles deeper into the rumbling chest of her lover.

Lyla definitely had something to hold over Miguel’s head now.

Writing Obi-Wan I got an amazing ask that has prompted your Pal to go on several rants so I’m breaking it into parts for readability.

An anon new to writing fanfic asked about characterizing Obi-Wan. They asked about his most important traits to include to really nail his characterization and most importantly:

"In particular, I'm confused about reconciling the (chaotic, dramatic, 10/10) Clone Wars happenings with the way he appears in some other stories (more, well, civilized)."

Well anon: ask and you shall receive. Find your pal’s beginner's thesis below, keeping in mind that there are many others in the fandom who are way more accomplished authors who are much better about characterization in their own works and are way more qualified to speak to this. I'm going to do my best!

I love this ask! Characterization is so important in fan fic as we take familiar characters in place them into different scenarios that we haven’t seen how they react and respond to, and yet want it to feel authentic. The best is when you read a chapter and think of course that’s how Obi-Wan would deal with this.

The first part to nailing characterization is voice. Not even the motivation aspects behind “he would not fucking say that” but I literally ask myself: can I imagine the character’s voice actually saying these things? If I can’t hear Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan in my mind speaking the lines of dialogue I’ve written, I know it’s not right. This isn’t something specific I could give you a How To on, it’s 100% based on vibe and feel, BUT. Listen to the dialogue in the movies/tcw/kenobi series. The words he uses, his cadence, his tone. Even if he's being written in an alternate universe speaking about something that canon Obi-Wan has never experienced, and never will, it should still *sound* like him. If I had to summarize his voice: civilized yes, and more mature or refined than Anakin’s speech patterns, but with the ever present threat of sass. Underlying almost everything he says is a sense of I can and will destroy you if you piss me off, so tread lightly.

That brings me to your point of reconciling the different parts of Obi-Wan. There’s a line in Stover’s novelization of Revenge of the Sith which (I'm paraphrasing) says: he’s a Jedi Master who deep down still feels like a padawan. To me, this is why he can be the cool, calm logical Jedi Master one moment and then impulsively launching himself out of windows to hang from a speeding droid the next.

He is the expert of Fake it Till You Make It. He was suddenly thrust into all these roles of responsibility before he was prepared for them, but has taken them on and is Doing His Best. He literally went from being a padawan to having a padawan overnight. He had no time to experience being responsible for himself before he was responsible for someone else. He’s the youngest member on the council and despite, you know, not being trained in the military he is like The Highest Ranking Jedi and in command of a frighteningly huge portion of the GAR. He *is* incredibly competent and good at what he does, but he feels like its a role he's acting. He is playing the part of the wise Jedi, modeling himself after everyone he respects and looks up to and thinks is doing a better job than himself, when a lot of times his personal instinct isn't to react with measured patience but rather Yeet! or Read This Bitch!

Always remember: this man contains multitudes. There is no One Right take on his personality. That’s why he’s so fun to write! And also why there’s so many different versions of Obi-Wan in fan fic, and yet most are able to feel right if they hit the voice. Authors lean into the different sides of Obi-Wan they want to bring out. Some are more into his Big Dick Energy, being a BAMF, having the answers, and being in control General Kenobi. Some relate to the more the anxious padawan desperate to prove himself. Some see the man tossing back shots in the Outlander and think to themselves “this ho has slept with half of Coruscant”. Any and all of these can feel true to the character when done from a place of love and understanding for our main man Obi-Wan Kenobi

The director of Sound of Freedom (full disclosure: I haven’t seen that movie), which became the darling of A Very Right Wing Audience, made a movie starring a saint, the message of which is that the system is terrible to immigrants in the US, and you shouldn’t treat them like trash.

I have a lot of thoughts, guys.

Cabrini tells the story of Mother Saint Frances Cabrini, an Italian religious sister who wanted to start missionary orphanages in China and wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. The Pope convinces her that she start working in the West, first–specifically in New York City, where Italian immigrants live in slums and are shunned by the populace, including the local diocese’s administration. Undaunted, Mother Cabrini charges forward to build her orphanage, whether or not she’ll get support from the city, the press, or the Church.

I kind of want to talk about the critical conversation that surrounded this movie.

Obviously, a film featuring a saint as its protagonist will get attention from Catholic outlets, and that’s where I saw most of the reviews. There was a noticeable common thread among Catholic critics that even though it’s about a canonized saint, a religious sister, and the character’s explicitly Catholic in the movie, her faith is not explored as her motivation, and it doesn’t really emphasize God working through her. We Catholics do not believe that we accomplish holy tasks based on our own power–we do it through God’s grace.

This movie, on the other hand, understandably makes it so that Mother Cabrini is the prime mover of events, though she certainly does have faith. But for Catholics, her reverence for God should be more emphasized, and her crediting and trusting in Him should be more explicit. I understand that in order to make it appeal to a wider (if still primarily Christian) audience, this was toned down, though I don’t know if it was the best idea.

My family and I also noted, while watching the film, that Frances Cabrini’s backstory is not really explored in a comprehensive way. Okay, fine, the movie’s not about that, and there’s enough to go off of. What’s a little more frustrating is that the sisters she leads in her efforts at building an orphanage are… look, I don’t know if they even have names in the film. I don’t remember much about them, other than that they’re there to back up the main character.

There are, however, not-so-legitimate criticisms I’ve seen. The Pillar talked a bit about it in one of their posts, but did not go into a full review because their writers are reporters of Catholic news (and they do very good work on that front, being unafraid of talking about scandal and asking hard questions). The opinion of the editor there was that, along with the above criticism, the antagonists were caricatures of patriarchal corruption, being essentially douchey men, which he felt was putting all the problems faced by the characters on men.

Which… yeah, because she’s running up against corrupt or uncaring systems and institutions, which at the time are all run… by men. 

Maybe this is because I recently read Burn It Down, but taking issue with this feels like missing the point of the movie. You can say all you want that the systems in place aren’t just the fault of some men in charge, but those men in charge hold a lot of responsibility. Immigrants aren’t suffering in the US because the system has to be that way, they’re because people in charge choose to make or keep it that way to benefit themselves. The movie simplifies how these systems work, yes, but that doesn’t change that depicting them as the result of prejudiced, greedy, and corrupt men is not a bad choice.

Like, imagine if someone complained that Hidden Figures uses caricatures that are too simple for the reality of what happened. Yeah, that’s true, and there are definite issues with those depictions, but is it wrong to do that in a movie? I don’t think so.

[And then at least one person in the comments of that post angrily claims this movie constitutes “militant feminism” which makes me see red. Do words even have meaning these days? I feel like every time a film with female leads has a douchey male villain, some whackjob claims that it’s a story asserting that all men are evil.]

If the figures depicted in the movie actually were generally alright people, and the film is villainizing real people unnecessarily, then yes, we have some problems. Otherwise, I’m fine with it.

I am also kind of stunned how much this movie comes out swinging on certain issues. Again, the director’s previous film was a movie that got a lot of attention from right wing media, and this is one that depicts things like racism against immigrants, police brutality, political corruption–things that I don’t think FOX News is as keen on talking about. I think audiences cared enough about it for this movie to be mildly successful, though, which shows that, thankfully, people aren’t on as strictly drawn socio-political lines as the media would have you believe.

 This is a fairly powerful narrative, guys, and it does not hold back. There are wealthy (white) New Yorkers complaining about how “brown children” are running through their streets, people denigrating others for not speaking English, and pointing out that the people oppressing immigrants today are the descendants of immigrants who themselves went through oppression when they arrived.

I like that the movie does not flinch away from that: showing that many of the problems we face today are not new, they’ve been baked into this country for over a century. The problems just wear slightly different hats–who the immigrants being oppressed are, for instance. That doesn’t mean it’s a progressive masterpiece, but I like this direction.

And I really like the title character. She is someone who absolutely does not give up, but is constantly getting frustrated by the people around her underestimating what she’s trying to do and whether she can accomplish it. She knows that she can, the problem is getting other people to see that as well.

Also, the movie’s last line. I’m very fond of it.

But like I said, this movie doesn’t really feel like it’s that interested in the lives of those who served in Mother Cabrini’s religious order, or much of her life and interests. And that’s a definite failing of the movie. Overall, though, I think it’s good, it’s strong, and I think it sticks with you. I lament a bit that it’s not more Catholic, and it could have been. I don’t think it’s necessarily as good a movie about historical figures as something like Hidden Figures, but it is very good, and I encourage people to at least check it out.

What’s your pitch for a stand alone Gargoyles TimeDancer movie? Like, if you worked at Disney and let’s say, hypothetically, Gargoyles was back and kicking for a revival season and it became such a smash they wanted more, and then the TimeDancer series gets announced and your hired for a major film that’ll kickstart the show on Disney+. What would be your idea, and how would you execute that? And before we bring up the comics, they’re not canon anymore for this What If? scenario.

OMG I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS WAS SENT I JUST SAW THIS SKGNEOWKFNQKFNFNTKWKGJEJFBRJ

Anyway. So if we’re saying the comics aren’t cannon, I would probably do a similar set up to the original but explain it by saying the Phoenix is an ACTUAL Phoenix that was trapped inside the talisman that became the Phoenix gate. When it was thrown into the time stream the talisman eventually corroded and the Phoenix was able to break free.

I actually have this headcannon that the Phoenix was drawn to Brooklyn because he has some kind of dormant magical abilities. The longer he travels with the Phoenix the more his powers come to light.

But back to the movie idea, I actually really like the story that is in the comics so I would probably keep it as the plot of the movie. Assuming an accompanying series was made, I would delve into the psychological and physical trauma Brooklyn HAD to have gone through (we just haven’t seen it yet in the cannon series). There would be stories to tell along with the new scars he recieved as well as wrangling with his new found powers (I like to imagine he has fire powers cause fire is volatile and unpredictable, but strong and powerful like his character).

Through his travels he will meet with Demona on a few more occasions, eventually learning how to forgive her after seeing some of what she did indeed go through (not justifying what she’s done, but rather explaining how she became so hard and jaded to the world). However, he never fully trusts her but if, perhaps, down the line she gets a redemption arc, maybe he would be one of the ones more willing to believe she can change as he did work with her to fight a war (to the surprise of everyone).

However, as much as I LOVE Katana and Nash, I don’t know if I’d include a love arc for him or not. I think it would depend on how the story unfolded. If I DID include her, I would bring her in for like season three or four? Not right away is the big thing here. I would have her “defrost” Brooklyn a little because, perhaps, he has seen his fair share of horrors already and is on the verge of giving up hope that he’ll ever make it home. Okay yeah, now typing this all out I would include her because she would become his rock and moral compass, keeping him grounded and helping him to still be able to see the good in the world.

There would be a few times when his time dancing crossed his own timeline and he would have to do lots of ninja moves to stay away from his clan (and subsequently himself) as he doesn’t want to risk something happening to his timeline if one of them see him. Even though Goliath and Demona have said the past is immutable, he’s not going to take any chances.

Oooooo. I’d also make Griff a reoccurring character cause he needs more love and I think the two of them would work really well together based on their one interaction in the episode Kingdom. Griff has to keep secret all his interactions with Brooklyn, again to prevent anything happening to the timeline.

I would also make his absence FAR longer away from his “current time”. I’m thinking a few years. His clan doesn’t know if they’ll ever see him again just like Angela said in the comics. But maybe it’s more like 40 months vs 40 seconds (I’d keep the 40 connection cause I like the metophor).

Dimension travel is something else I would add to the story. Maybe he meets an alternate version of himself at some point? Maybe he gets transported to a dimension where gargoyles don’t exist? Or one where gargoyles are the dominant species/accepted in the human world? I feel like this scenario in particular could be very angsty because Brooklyn could have to choose if he stays in a world where he’s accepted, or keep trying to return to his family. Maybe that’s how I’d end the series. Brooklyn has to decide if he stays somewhere where life is objectively ‘easy’ (the grass is greener and all that) or risk traveling for who knows how much longer.

FNaF MOVIE REVIEW 🗣️‼️ 🐻🐰🐤🦊

I know I’m late to the party but I saw the movie opening weekend and I’ve already watched this movie three times through already and I thought I’d pitch in my thoughts on it :P

For starters, spoilers. If you still haven’t seen the movie and SOMEHOW haven’t been spoiled yet, don’t read this.

The things I loved:

I think the movie made the right decisions on two occasions--

ONE, the animatronics. They look like they were ripped straight out the game, they look amazing, and I haven’t seen one complaint about them. If anything, it’d be the one thing the critics liked about the movie. TWO, and this is a controversial one, the rating. It definitely cut down on the horror, yes, but adding an R rating would cut down half its audience (including me but not bc I’m underage, bc I’m Mormon and we don’t watch rated R 💃). The movie wouldn’t have been as much of a success as it is now if not for the pg-13.

Other than those two, I loved the animatronics and the personality they brought. I loved how they advertised this as focusing on the “killer animatronic” element of FNaF, but ended up focusing on the supernatural part. And not even close to how we’d imagine, almost like a tragic and wholesome side to the kids’ possession.

Another controversial point, I’m glad they changed up the lore a bit. It has the key points in the games to keep fans satisfied, but it changes it up just a wee bit to keep them theorizing and catch them off guard with the Vanessa twist at the end. Speaking of Vanessa--

The things I had mixed feelings on:

Vanessa. Her character is so strange. Sure, it was explained at the very end why she is the way that she is. But she still feels off. The fort scene is a good example. She was on board with Abby building the fort, but once Mike said “they seem to like her”, Vanessa snapped. Then threatened to shoot him if he ever came back with Abby. 😐

I also felt mediocre about the pacing of the movie. I liked the mystery element of Mike trying to unravel what happened with the kids and his brother. But I would also like me some scary animatronic screen time if you know what I mean. It even got boring at some parts.

The last thing. The spring-lock scene. That entire ending sequence made up for the middle of the movie, in my opinion. But it felt too rushed. Something they could’ve added is some more time with Freddy and Bonnie instead of Mike just taking them out right then and there. It just felt anticlimactic. And then the spring-lock scene was, well. I think it was good. It was realistic, and it was still considered gruesome to some. You still get to see the guy getting impaled. But I can get behind fans that say it was somewhat disappointing.

But I do think this movie shows just how much our expectations are thrown off by the VHS tapes. We should all know by now the fan-made stuff is way scarier than the canon.

Things I didn’t like:

Well, not things I didn’t like, no. Just things we could improve on.

I know plot holes are FNaF’s whole thing, but can we explain what happened with Aunt Jane, or the difference between Golden Freddy and Freddy, and what happened to the brother? I suppose the fans would be able to figure two of those things out, but still.

The writing could be improved as well. The film has a tone problem where it’s foreboding and fits the games fairly well. But then it turns all cheesy and campy during that middle part, which is fine, but sits weird and almost out of place when we go back to “killer animatronics”.

I also wish we would incorporate more of the game into the movie. I know we already went through the process of making the animatronics, but I feel like we could’ve had a legit horror movie if the atmosphere and tension from FNaF 1 was replicated here. I also would love to see more of the gameplay in there. The doors, I understand. But the security cameras were so UNDERUTILIZED.

Then the one that everyone’s complaining about, more violence. Not the rated R stuff, but just more of seeing the animatronics in action.

What I wanna see in the sequel:

Cus we’re no doubt getting a sequel. After those interviews? The Puppet teased in the credits?? The box office scores???

-MORE HORROR. I think this is on everyone’s minds right now. We need more horror or violence, more kills. More action.

-Plot. This has gotta be the toughest thing about adapting FNaF of all things into a movie, but the lore can be altered and even the pacing of the story can be fixed. Also pls fill in those plot holes.

-More of the animatronics. I was surprised they didn’t get MORE screen time in this movie. They did get a decent amount and were hinted at by the ghost kids who also got a decent amount in. But I need to see more of them. They’re who everyone’s coming out to see after all.

-MORE GOOD JUMP SCARES. Typically, horror movies that rely on jump scares are just cheap and trash. But FNaF is the king of jump scares and is probably the only exception. Also those jump scares need to be GOOD. UNPREDICTABLE. The movie did have jump scares, but because they were predictable, they weren’t scary.

-DESIGNS. I want them to mix up the designs a tiny bit like they did Balloon Boy. He already looks so much creepier than his og counterpart. I wonder what they could do with the Withered Animatronics…

I’ll go more into detail about hopes for the sequel as more comes out over time, but for now, let’s enjoy what we have.

I had a joke about Avengers Endgame that I had to change in this chapter because while doing proofreading I realized that that movie came out in 2019 🤣🤣🤣 I almost jumped one year ahead in canon 😂😂😂 Anyway, the joke was this:

“Witches” in the MCU + Loki’s Witchy-ness

So, I’ve had a very detailed interpretation of this topic for quite awhile and I’ve been waiting for the chance to meta about it. I’ve seen a few arguments in the fandom about what classifies as a Witch vs a Sorcerer vs a Mage in the mcu, and where Loki falls in that classification.

My basic headcanon is that- while “sorcerer” and “mage” and “magician” and “siedrmaster” etc are all individual categories with distinct definitions- the term “witch” is more of a slang politicised word for certain magic users. To put it simply, calling someone a witch is supposed to be an insult.

Witchery and the Demonisation of Outcasts

Part of the reason I sort of formed this idea is that real-world witchcraft in Salem and other places historically was a ruse to implicate women and some other people in fictitious crimes simply because they were defiant or progressive or separated in some way from the mainstream of society. I think it’s sort of the same thing in mcu-terms. (I haven’t decided if all magic users in the mcu see this topic the same way or if it’s just Asgardians, but nonetheless.)

I think in general a “witch” is a magic user who doesn’t have allegiance to a reputable organisation.

This is a little more complex because people (aesir in specific) tend to see independent practitioners as being untrustworthy and sort of rogue, whereas if they’re working for any entity thought to be associated with a noble cause, then that’s viewed as okay. (Examples being: Odin is a magic user, but he’s associated with government of Asgard so he’s good. The healers are magic users but they’re associated with the government so they’re good. Doctor Strange is associated with the sanctums so he’s okay. Etc etc)

MCU Witch Classifications

A perfect example of someone who’d definitely be considered a witch is Wanda. Maybe for a brief period in between AoU and CACW when she was at the compound, she could’ve been seen as just a magic user, but all through AoU and Civil War and everything post-CW she was a very rogue figure. She mostly flew solo didn’t really have ties with any specific organisation. The fact that she ended up a villain probably didn’t help the image of “witches” in universe either, but ya know.

Another example would be Amora from the tie-in book “Where Mischief Lies”. She was a student of sorcery on Asgard, but she didn’t work for the crown in any capacity, she was very underhanded, and she ultimately rebelled and got cast out. All throughout the book she’s referred to as a witch.

Mordo would definitely be considered one after he went off on his own. The idea of him once being a good guy working for the sanctums and then turning his back on it is a perfect illustration of how anti-witch people in-universe probably imagine witches.

Frigga is a little trickier. All throughout the movies she was never a witch because she obviously was loyal to the asgardian crown and used her magic to better Asgard, but Malekith called her one in TDW. This could imply that pre-movies before she married Odin she used to be independent practicing, or (and I think this is more accurate) Malekith was just using a common insult flung at mages.

Now, Loki. So, post-Thor 1, Loki’s definitely a witch. Like full stop. He fits right into the archetype. However, during the first movie it’s a little more tricky to say. He was a prince, so he definitely had allegiance to a noble organisation, and yet his brother and friends still referred to him as a witch (not sure if this is canon or fanon but I choose to believe it happened). I’m pretty sure this was more of a jab at him than an actual categorisation. As in, they were implying that- even though he was supposedly loyal to the crown- he was still underhanded and devious and not to be trusted. They weren’t insulting his use of magic, they were insulting him as a person. Whether or not he was actually disloyal rebel up to that point, is up to interpretation, but I would argue that yes he was. A little bit. In “Where Mischief Lies” (which is supposed to be canon), his struggle between trying to please his family and just going off the deep end and “being a full fledged witch” (actual paraphrasing of the book) is like the main storyline.

So anyway. That’s my rambling for today. What do you guys think? Disagree? Agree? Think I’m overthinking this way too much? I welcome feedback lol.

Hiccup Leaves Berk AUs || X Leaves Berk AUs

These Hiccup Leaves Berk AUs will be unique and original from your run-of-the-mill HLB AU fics. All of these story plots will have Hiccup leave Berk in ways that I haven’t really seen in this trope. Most tend to go and follow the movie plots, and often do the same thing where he leaves for a number of years, comes back, defeats the Red Death, and permanently returns to Berk, and everyone lives happily ever after.

Instead, while I do plan on Hiccup returning to Berk in some of them (albeit realistically) others will explore the what-if of Hiccup NOT returning to Berk, and instead continues his new life, even if he reunites with Berk and even forgives them for what they’d done to him. For there are times where the damage has already been done and cannot be entirely fixed, and will show that there are times when actions can lead to permanent consequences.

Hiccup may also have the chance of NOT losing a foot / leg in some of these fics. Simply because it would be nice for Hiccup to KEEP both legs for once, and I’ve been seeing lots of readers complain about it. I’ve even READ fics where Hiccup has every advantage imaginable, and the battle against the Red Death was DIFFERENT from canon, and he STILL loses his foot!! So yeah, that’s getting fixed in some of these story ideas at least. And in some of these, Hiccup won’t even MEET the Red Death, and the dragon raids continue. In others, the Red Death has already been defeated, but he still leaves Berk — for one reason or another.

Hiccup’s Saga/Wilderwest Saga (Young Chief AU)

A Hiccup-Leaves-Berk story with a ton of inspiration and elements of the Books, this story will be placed before the events of HTTYD 1 (Pre-HTTYD 1). When Stoick goes off to search for the Nest, 10/12-year-old Hiccup and his adopted brother Drift get abducted and taken by Danger-Brute warriors to the Dungeons at the behest of an unknown third party. There, the Chief of the Danger-Brutes imprisons them so that they don’t escape. While in the dungeons, they meet a fellow prisoner, Heather, daughter of Chief Osvald of the Berserkers, who has also been abducted and imprisoned.

Meanwhile, back on Berk, news of the “deaths” of Hiccup and Drift send shockwaves to the villagers. Even worse, a week after their disappearance, Stoick is still nowhere to be seen. Stoick’s brother decides to take over with his son Snotface Haddock (Book Snotlout) as Heir and declares Stoick to be dead. Not wanting to accept it, the Gang decide to go search for Stoick and warn them of what’s happened.

Can Hiccup and his brother escape the Dungeons of the Danger-Brutes, a prison said to be inescapable? Can they survive? And what happened to Stoick? Will the brothers be able to return to Berk and reclaim Hiccup’s birthright? Even more important: Can they do it without ending up with the Slavemark before then?

Switching Heirs (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

(Takes place before and during HTTYD 1.)

A story that focuses on the stupidity of Stoick and Berk by not grooming Hiccup to be a competent Heir should anything happen to Stoick (seriously, if anything happened to Stoick, Hiccup would be 0% trained/prepared to take over as Chief), Berk gets a surprise visit from the Chief of the Shivering Shores and his Heir, Skathgard the Younger, who takes a shine to Hiccup. Rather impressed with his potential (and very unimpressed at Stoick’s disregard for training his Heir), Skathgard’s Heir convinces his father to make a proposal to Stoick that will strengthen the bonds between the two communities.

Both Chiefs will foster each other’s Heir as his own and take them under their wing for one month. If the results are satisfactory, then an additional year will be added to further educate the Heirs. Should Hiccup remain... Hiccup, then Stoick is free to adopt Skathgard’s Heir permanently and give Hiccup over to Skathgard as his replacement.

Liking the idea of Hiccup becoming better, and wanting Hiccup to be safe and out-of-the-way, Stoick agrees with the plan. And thus begins Hiccup’s tutelage and new life. Will Hiccup improve, or will he fail and remain... a Hiccup? Why has the young Heir of the Shivering Shores taken such an interest in Hiccup? Is it genuine, or is there more ulterior motives behind this gesture of friendship?

Hiccup the Outcast (Outcast! Hiccup AU)

Set in HTTYD 1. What if one of Hiccup’s attempts at killing a dragon resulted in someone’s death? Well... it’s not good. By Viking law, of course, this means that Hiccup must be banished from Berk as an Outlaw. Forced from his home, Hiccup struggles to survive in the Archipelago’s unforgiving climate. He then gets picked up by Alvin the Treacherous, what decision must he make?

The Berkian Berserker (Berserker! Hiccup AU)

This story idea was inspired by Berserker!Hiccup fanart by @baisleyarts​ , and whose gracious permission allowed me to use this idea for my own use.

Set in HTTYD 1. Wanting to solidify their alliance, Stoick exchanges his son Hiccup to Chief Osvald of the Berserker Tribe to foster in the hopes that Hiccup will become more Viking-like. As the years go by, Hiccup becomes more warrior-like and strong, adopting the Berserker life as his own — albeit a difficult one to deal with due to his mild and kind-hearted personality, as well as looked down on for being Berkian, despite not feeling any loyalty to them in the slightest. Still, he was nowhere near the derangedness of his foster brother.

By the time he’s 15/16, Berk has been slowly weakening from the Dragon attacks and the Outcast and Meathead raids. What’s worse is that Osvald mysteriously vanishes and Dagur claims to have slain him to take the throne for his own in a coup. Alarmed, Hiccup (renamed Hauberk or Brandur) and Thorvald conspire to overthrow him, find Osvald, and reinstate him as Chief once again.

When they go to Berk to sign the treaty, Dagur sees the weakness of Berk and reveals his cards to his relatives, causing Hiccup and Thorvald to secretly send a message to Stoick to warn him.

War is coming. Will Hiccup and Thorvald, with Berk’s aid, thwart Dagur’s schemes and also find Chief Osvald again? Or will Dagur succeed in his ambitions?

Like A Thief in the Night (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

(Takes place either before or during HTTYD 1.) 

When Trader Johann comes to Berk to sell his wares, Hiccup, after listening to his stories, longs to go adventuring, even becoming a trader and/or blacksmith and getting away from the miserable life he’s been living on Berk. So under cover of night, Hiccup packs up and sneaks aboard Johann’s ship. When the latter leaves Berk, he is found out but manages to convince Johann to not send him back but instead let him travel with him. This story will chronicle his journeys, the people he meets, and the experiences he lives through. Will he ever return to Berk? Would he even WANT to?

The Slavemark (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Slavery AU. Hiccup didn’t expect much, but he most certainly didn’t expect to get abducted by Uglithug slavers, branded with the Slavemark, and get transported with other Slaves towards Dyflin and other trade centers. Far from home, and now all-but-made-an-Outcast by the Slavemark, Hiccup has no choice but to bow his head and trudge through the rest of his life as a Slave, cold and alone. 

Along the way, he meets a Slave girl by the name of Heather, and others besides, which help spark hope in the young Viking’s heart, and thus, in turn, sparks the desire to escape and once again live a free life. Will Hiccup ever escape and return to the life he once had — or at least get the chance to live a new life? Or will he be a Slave forever?

Losing One’s Identity (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Post-HTTYD 1. Hiccup loses his memory after defeating the Red Death, and has been sent adrift away from Dragon Island and to an island habited by another Tribe and lives among them, with one less foot and no idea who he is and where he comes from, and plagued with dreams and nightmares. Will he ever be reunited with Berk and his father and friends? Will he ever see Toothless again? Or will he permanently be detached from them — not only physically, but mentally as well?

One Man’s Hiccup is Another Man’s Treasure (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Pre/During HTTYD 1. Hiccup was sent adrift after having been confirmed a Runt, believing that he wouldn’t last long due to having been more early. Fate leads him towards a different island, a different Tribe, and into the arms of a different family. 

Will the events that befell Hiccup had he stayed on Berk repeat in this new life? Or will he have a better or worse chain of events that will lead him towards a different path?

Meeting of the Heirs (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

In an AU where, like in the Books, Vikings ride and train dragons, Hiccup and Stoick leave Berk to join a gathering of Chieftains and their Heirs and Young Warriors-to-Be with their dragons. Instead of congregating at the Shivering Shores, the Gathering was to be held at Grimbeard’s Peak, the third highest point in the Archipelago on the Mainland. It’s tradition for the Heirs and the other Warriors-to-Be of each generation to go there, not only to build bonds of fellowship between each other and the Tribes and alliances, but also to test them, whereby upon passing, they’ll be added on to their respective Tribes.

What will Hiccup experience in this journey? Will he meet new friends along the way? Or enemies?

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost (A Hiccup Leaves Berk / Young Chief AU)

Hiccup leaves with Stoick and their retinue towards this year’s assembly, where Hiccup meets other Heirs like him, and interacts with other Vikings his age. It’s a new coming-of-age ceremony for the Heirs of their respective clans and is a chance for Chieftains to show off their sons proudly. 

However, sharks lurk in the shadows, biding their time for an ambush in this gathering. When Ugli the Uglithug, King of the Mainland, drugs the Heirs — including his own Heir, Ugluk the Mighty — and has the Chief of the Danger-Brutes throw them in his dungeons in preparation of shipping them to the Slave Markets, while making it look like Alvin the Treacherous of the Outcast Tribe (not to be confused with the Outcasts near Berk) did the deed and incite the Tribes to destroy them, in his bid to seize the Throne of the Wilderwest.

Can the Heirs manage to break out and escape before they become Slaves? Can they be able to reunite with their fathers and uncover the conspiracy and Ug’s schemes before all is lost?

Hiccup’s Quest (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Set after HTTYD 1. After recovering from the Battle of the Red Death, Hiccup convinces his father to let him go on a Quest in search for his mother, who herself had been on a Quest to find answers concerning the Dragon Raids but had yet to return, and bring her back home. But he won’t be going alone.

Will he be able to find his mother and bring her back home safely?

Enough is Enough! (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Set before or during HTTYD 1. Tired of the abuse and isolation, Hiccup finally has had enough and decides to leave Berk — for good! So packing his belongings and stealing a small boat, Hiccup leaves Berk, never intending to come back, and is determined to create a new life for himself, and leave the Dragon Wars — and his old life — behind. But will Fate let him?

Hamish’s Heir (A Hiccup Leaves Berk AU)

Set Post-HTTYD 3. Eager to prove a valuable asset to his Tribe and family, Hiccup decides to leave Berk and go a-viking, eventually setting his sights on the Varangian Guard in Miklagard (Constantinople). (This part is set during HTTYD 1.) When he returns 10 years later, he’s wealthier, stronger, more confident, and more experienced. When he discovers the map leading to Hamish the First’s treasure, he decides to go and find it. And he finds it, making him to be a very rich man. Aside from this, he has a fleet of several ships and a retinue of loyal warriors. With Hamish the Second’s prophecy in the works, saying that he’s his true Heir and is destined to end the Dragon Wars, Hiccup decides that it’s time to return to Berk to show them just how much their “Useless” Heir has changed.

Will he be able to fulfill Hamish the Second’s prophecy, and end the Wars? Will he be able to impress his people? Or will he once again become a disappointment? And what about the political King’s Table being played behind closed doors and dark Halls as the power struggle on who’ll be the next Heir comes to its peak? Will Hiccup emerge victorious, or will he be forced to leave and build his own Kingdom and his own life?

I felt this way about game 1, but the English casting and voice direction for these games are always so good? So I looked up who’s in charge, and the director is Courtney Sanford with Robby Daymond as assistant director. I’ve never heard of him so I clicked on his link, and his directing project before AINI was the new Pinocchio movie??? Hit me like a semi truck dude you’re telling me the guy responsible for directing the great VA in AI is the same guy behind “THE WHOLE WORLDUSSY”??? I haven’t seen the movie, so maybe the VA is actually pretty good and that one part is just too easy to meme, but that threw me for a loop.

Saw lmaonade’s Aiba crewmate drawing which is fun because I posted an Aiba crewmate drawing last week, and someone in the notes said Aiba crewmate was the first thing they drew after seeing her… can we make this into one of those fake Mandela effect things like Greeble Simpson? Hive mind. In a parallel world Aiba IS a crewmate and we’re all using our SHIT abilities to see her.

I think it’s funny how Mamoru is a normal, somewhat decent guy who just happens to be employed by the minor villain of the story in both games. Imagine in AI3 there’s a character who seems very innocent and unassuming, but we find out they just employed Mamoru as their bodyguard which makes them instantly suspicious.

Thinking about how Amame dreamed about fighting Komeji for his title as Quiz King. If he’s the king, Amame would be the heir to the “throne” after his death, but she didn’t want it to happen this way. She’d rather have him back and wishes she could’ve become the quiz champion by playing against him until she surpassed him, which she will never have the ability to do. And this is a dream she has six years after his death showing how much she misses him

Also the irony of Uru seeing Amame and thinking that their encounter was fateful because he was entranced by her, and he was half-right since it was fateful, just that the fate was his own death

I started one of NicoB’s let’s play videos and someone commented how Komeji’s head being square could symbolize how he’s incapable of “thinking outside the box” which is why his somnium is so straight forward that it doesn’t have any puzzles or weird dream stuff in it. And how his “comedy” is just stories about what Shoma said because Shoma’s the creative and funny one. That commenter is a genius. I should watch Nico’s whole let’s play and read the comment section because someone always has some crazy analysis and trivia in there.

The canon explanation is apparently just “what’s the most fucked up character design I can make without it being too ridiculous”

I was expecting Ushidera to be the asshole “get out of my way, the adults are talking” detective trope, but turns out he’s just a guy with the snazzy detective aesthetic. The scene where Bibi gives him chocolate to butter him up is pretty cute

I headcanon Shoma as being a trans guy. It makes sense with his VA being a trans guy and him not going to high school. Also angst headcanon that Komeji chose Shoma’s new name, as explained in Shoma’s somnium, based on the time he spent with his son growing up and getting to know him.

I love the fashion in the AI universe because it’s fairly diverse among characters’ individual tastes, but it has such a distinct “decades style” vibe from a decade that hasn’t happened yet. Part of it is the Pokémon design influence, but I love how it’s somewhat reminiscent of current fashion yet futuristic in a way that makes you think, yeah, if our world turned into a crazy sci fi future like AI I could see this being the new mode.

I saw Uchikoshi’s tweets about the weird, unexplained boss-called-SAT part at Brahman, and he said he’ll explain it if he can have a “third eye”… it seems to me like they’re planning the plot of a third game, but its development won’t be given the OK unless aini does well. I’m mad at myself for not thinking of the “third eye” thing in my AI3 predictions post lol

I hope we see Marco’s humanoid form and/or hear him talk in DLC content. We know his blob form has a finished 3D model that wasn’t used in the game.

When we look at Date and Mizuki’s closet, we can see that they have several exact repeats of their usual outfit, but when we look in Shoma’s closet, all we see are some sheets, Roboji, and the large pile of thermite bombs. Has he been wearing the same thing for six years?

Regret laced through every single fibre of his being. Sharp thorns piercing him with pangs of guilt and nearly swallowing him whole in a deep carmine red of his own blood. His body aching from years of paralyzing trauma. Every painful day spent wondering if it was going to be different. Every second kept him thinking, if he made a different decision; would he still be here. Exactly like this, today.

Leon was riddled with decades of trauma, pain and remorse. Turning to the bottle as a common response to him. His coping mechanism to escape from everything that was thrown at him.  Struggling with his lost innocence of youth and losing himself to the pain of it all, caused him to turn to the sweet bitter liquid one too many times. Drowning himself in anything other than what he was feeling, wanting to taste more than the metallic aftertaste of blood and the wretched stench of death that lingered in his memories.

Blue bright eyes and naive to the world, at the age of twenty one, he finally completed one of his childhood dreams of becoming a cop. Wanting to do good and be good despite it all.

Then Raccoon City happened.

Post traumatic stress disorder. PTSD is a common symptom with soldiers, along with a long list of others. Seeing atrocities that no person should ever see in a lifetime. Leon had seen more than one person should ever see in a single night. Afterwards, nights were spent alone, tossing and turning. Struggling to get a single second of relief. It was nothing other than, hell. It only ever got worse, never better. There were others who maybe suffered worse, those who never lived to tell their tale. Though, he’d never wish that on anyone. When your entire being is plagued with painful memories. The only remedy is the obvious one.

Somehow, she was always there. Following him around desperately like a love sick puppy. Her bright personality reminded him of himself sometimes. The younger version him.  The version of himself where he truly believed that the world was black and white. Right and wrong. Good and evil. Not the shades of morally ambiguous greys that filtered his view of the world now.

Yet every, "I love you," he heard from her was supposed to fix him. That’s how ‘love’ is supposed to work, the way it brightens up your world in every hue of colours. Seeing colours you've never seen before. Every little achievement, goal reached and task finished is something to celebrate with someone that loves you. The sun shines just a bit brighter and feels just a bit warmer. Every season spent together is a new change embraced. The freezing and melting of frigid ice cold winter and the blooming of pink petals every spring. The hot humid heat of summer and the cooling cozy nights of autumn. Every little thing just feels better. Every problem is an easy enemy to defeat with someone there by your side. You feel invincible. It’s perfection.

That’s how it’s supposed to be. ‘Love’ is supposed to cure all ailments. Make you feel better. Fix you. So why didn’t Leon feel any better.

Despite his best efforts, he could see how he pained her. That despite it all, he couldn’t love her the way that he knew she wanted him to. Her childish fears of his true feelings for her pained him more with each lie.

“Of course I love you.”  

A lie intertwined with piercing thorns with a delicate white rose a top it. Each petal, a white flag surrendering each time she asked him. Reassurance for each time she was afraid. Petrified that Leon was going to leave her. And each time another white rose raised to ease her fears. A garden of little white lies to keep her. But with each new lie, there would be more thorns he’d have to avoid catching on at some point. Ripping him open and exposing his lie he had lived for the past years he had promised to her.

First loves, no matter how brief. Change you. Years had gone by and he hadn’t been able to feel like that ever again. Pure unadulterated desire. Something so captivating in her eyes that left him haunted by the image of her every night. That very shade of warmth in her eyes, despite her cold temperament. The very idea of her left him dazed and disoriented. Hungry. Something that fuelled him in his very bones. Comfort was something he craved and desired, as for most people. But something about the thrill of it all. That excited him even more.

He couldn’t ever forget.

Her.

It was brief, the time he spent with her, but the sparks that he felt burned him from the inside out. Eviscerating any sense of reason he had. Each new revelation about her brought out new emotions in him he had kept tucked and buried away. The pain of her supposed death. The relief knowing that she had been alive all along. And the years he spent mourning her. Not only her, but the idea of losing someone. That he’d been at fault. That if he had been just a bit faster. Stronger. That maybe, it could’ve been different. Seeing her again. Her kiss against his lips felt like it was yesterday again, igniting him. The gentle brush of her hands against his body. How easy it was for her to melt into him.

6 years. 6 years is nearly a lifetime for someone in their twenties. Leon had hardened as a person, stoic and strong. Someone more cynical. Not as aloof to the world and its secrets. His recruitment into becoming a government agent was less than ideal, threatened with death or becoming an agent; he took the obvious route.

Afterwards he had already begun to realize that the world was more corrupt than he originally thought it was. Cold and cruel leaders with plastered good faces and outlooks lead the world. Little white lies kept the world in order. How naive it was to think that it was anything other than that keeping the corruption at bay. The worlds powers fought constantly for authority, threatening each other with violence, viruses and mass terror. The elite knew, that all that mattered was how much one let slip. That’s how it’s been for decades, and nothing was going to stop it.

He knew that it was a losing battle. The wrong side of the coin to bet on. Despite that, somehow he'd always find a way to fight it.

Years had passed again before he saw her again. A shot in the dark as her sharp crossbow bolt flew past him, hitting her target behind him. A threatening introduction; granted, he was quick to draw his gun at her as well- their circumstances were less than ideal. His gun quickly lowered after shouting her name.

Another woman was attached to him at the hip. And she briefly wondered about their relationship as the brunette drew her own gun at her. Helena, she heard Leon calling her. Helena’s long brown hair wavering with her as she shook in rage, tears brimming at her lashes, her gun wavering just the same.

The gun remained aimed at her. Yet her gaze was fixed on Leon. His hair had gotten just a bit longer. Still framing his perfectly sculpted face, his piercing eyes that shade of blue she could get lost in. He looked a bit more scruffy, roughed up with a few more years of age. And she secretly wondered if he tasted just the same. The slight concern of having Helena’s gun still aimed at her were quickly extinguished as Leon finally gently lowered the gun away from her.

In the brief few seconds he called out for her, he’d already wondered how she’d been since they’ve last seen each other. Despite the distance, he swore he could still remember her scent against him. The sweet saccharin taste of her against his lips. He had promised himself to another and yet he was already thinking about her again. Thinking about the nights they spent together.

They never claimed to be anything. A couple of nights of sex and shared romantic notions meant little when they knew they couldn’t be together. Their lives would never work together without heavy sacrifice. So these few nights spent together were nothing more than a fantasy. Something so sweet and just beyond reach, lingering on the edge of what could be. His thoughts lingered to dark places intermixed with longing ones. He’d wondered if she had found someone else, if someone else could quell the need she had. His sick mind already imagining her with someone else had him twisted with a slight rage.

And yet images of the moments in bed with her still tangled around him flooded his vision. Him buried in between her warm creamy thighs with her legs wrapped around his waist.  Wondering if she was staying another night or not. The way she rode him how he needed her to. His fingertips pressed hard into her skin as he felt his release deep inside of her. Marking her anyway he could, the only reminder of him on her. Her manicured nails pressed painfully into his back as her walls fell down as she released herself around him. The last bit of resistance slipping away from her as she clung onto him, desperately riding through the pleasures that coursed through the both of them. In those split seconds, Leon could see her. The real her. The version of herself where she fully trusted him. His own fears about her. The constant struggle of wanting her- and knowing that it couldn’t work.

The empty pain every morning he woke alone, with nothing more than a delicately hand written letter placed on the nightstand. Her gentle scent still enveloping him. Her warmth lingering in the bed. It only made him want her more. His own inner demons was killing him, ripping through his flesh like the monsters he dealt with. Flooding him with dark red desire.

The interaction was brief, more dangers were always close by. More questions riddled him as he worked towards ending the case, destroying the so called evil. Helena working alongside him, her soft voice nearly whispering to him what he already knew.

“She’s more than just a friend, isn’t she? You have feelings for her.”

He didn’t need to hear it, already knowing that. His little lie he told himself to bare himself the excruciating pain of not knowing the truth. But it was more complicated than that. True, that friends don’t spend hours learning every single part of each others body. It was her kiss prints that lingered on his skin for years. Each one etched onto him like a stain, no matter how hard he’d try; he couldn’t help but feel like his skin was on fire each time she touched him. His fingers traced against her body, against each scar and new wound; asking her where it came from as she did the same for him.

She would mirror his movements, somehow timid yet sure sometimes. Deliberate but graceful. The obvious scar she’d graze her fingertip against his shoulder. The slight concave little circle against his skin she remembered bandaging all those years ago. A little morbid reminder of their first night together. The first time she felt like she let someone in.

Those nights were often the same. His fingers ghosting along her body until they were pressed tightly against her soft hips. His airy whimpers and whines growing as he tried to hold onto her for dear life. Grasping tightly as he chased her lips, wanting more and more each time, bruising her skin and marking her as a reminder of him. Finally feeling what he craved. Cradling her smaller face against his hands as he felt the short wisps of her dark black hair bouncing with each movement of their bodies. His own matted dirty blond tresses against his forehead as her delicate fingers ran through his hair, pushing them out of the way as she breathed another kiss against his skin. Inhaling each other like air. Feeling and fuelling the fire inside of him.

It was supposed to be more complicated than that.

And yet he was quick to jump from a burning building seeing her laying lifeless on the ground. Running to her the second he saw her needing him. As she laid against him, cradled into him, he whispered sweet nothings to her; much like he would during the nights she would stay. He silently prayed to see her open her eyes again. Wanting to see those warm eyes again.

A short exhale slipped from her lips as she slowly woke, “I was just resting my eyes,” she exhaled a quiet laugh, noticing Leon as his tall form shielded her from the entire world. A small smile formed on her lips, ever the hero.

“Shouldn’t sleep on the job,” he quipped back, aiding her back up onto her feet. As the city burned, the evil defeated. She was already gone again. Leon seeing her from across the tops of the building, he questioned himself again. Despite their lives being tangled together in the most messy and intimate ways, he still wondered about her. Wondered why she always helped him somehow in the end. Leading him back to her somehow.

Now he was stuck. Stagnant in a loveless relationship he never wanted to be in. Lifeless in a lifestyle he never wanted. Working on missions that never went anywhere. More corruption, more of the government covering up something else. And yet she was there. The ‘bright sunshine of his life’ that was supposed to brighten his day with each of her smiles. And try her best, he’d try to be better.

Each empty bottle of whiskey she would find stashed somewhere in their shared home left little to the imagination. A soft sigh slipped from her lips. This was all she ever wanted. But he was never really here. Each hug and kiss felt hollow. They haven't shared a bed in months. If they did it would only be a few hours of sleep before he'd be gone again. Each time he’d swear it was only her. She’d believe him. The way those baby blues stared back at her, she’d believe in him every time. Of course she’d want to. She didn’t want to throw away years of their lives together. Spent together, and grown together. She was persistent, wanting to make it work. But each smile he gave her only broke away at her heart. His twisted sweet smile that would tell her that everything would be okay.

She wasn’t naive. At least not towards the end of their relationship. The subtle soft scent of her lingered on his skin some nights. Airy floral jasmine and supple honey stained his skin, penetrating deeply into him. The slightest of bruising of her lip prints reddening against his neck. The way he kissed her felt off, chaste. And yet it would be lingering, like she could taste her. How sickeningly sweet she was. Like she was laced with sweet plump cherries and liquor. No wonder he always went back to her.

Even the way Leon spoke would be different, for a while. Softer, gentler and more relaxed. Somehow more like himself. Claire knew deep down that she was a stand in, a second choice. Someone who was just there because she was there. Left standing there alone when she wasn’t needed anymore. And she deserved better than this, so why didn’t she go?

Each night he was away, he would take the quietest way back, sneaking into their home at the darkest of night. Like he was a stranger in his own home. He never wanted to wake her, and yet she was awake, every time. Awake in her own nightmare.

“-I never thought my life would turn out this way.” Losing all of his men in a single mission was the last straw for him. The gentle tip backwards into his alcoholism. One of the last many triggers that lead him to almost putting a bullet into his head. But he never did it. No matter how easy it was to pull the trigger against an enemy, against one of those monsters. He couldn’t do it to himself. His finger ghosting along the cold metal trigger, aimed at himself. Cowardice or pride, maybe both, his finger lifted each time, his gun remained loaded, and left alone. Placed back onto the bedside table. Each time he’d lay back down, lay his body to rest, and wait for the next day to rise.

Each day, he drifted further and further apart from her. And she slipped further and further away from him. The love she felt for him, it waned everyday. Sand escaping the hourglass, their time was running out. Each time she tried to let him in, he’d simply walk away. Each fight lead to her forgiving him. Leon making the simple promise of doing better, and Claire letting him feed her the lie. They’d lay together in their bed, simply holding each other as they both wondered where the other was. Even in her arms, she knew, he wasn’t there. And as he lay there, trying to feel something, anything, a spark of a feeling. He’d try to feel. Try to feel, anything. He couldn’t.

All he could do, was try and remember.

Her.

My thoughts on the miraculous movie.

You know that speech about how one person can make a huge difference even if they’re just one? Well, that was probed right with this movie. It is amazing the leap forward just by not having had Thomas Astruc in the writing team.

They payed attention and really learned from the show, they improved the story in many many ways. In my opinion there were just a couple of things that I would had tried to make different. 

More about my thoughts after the break. Spoilers ahead of course.

There are many details I want to talk about, I fear I will forget something. I’ll write in the order in which things pop up in my head.

I want to start by saying I loved how they made the characters’s behavior more human. More realistic. This Gabriel was easy to understand, easy to forgive. At least for some people. I haven’t read much of the fandom’s thoughts, but I imagine there must be people who still hate him with all their guts. He was the antagonist, but was still a father. He still cared about his son. He made a huuuuge mistake, lost his way big time, but his behavior was coherent. He was grieving. That part when Nooroo told him about how it was in times of chaos that the two miraculous appeared, that was a smart to include. In the show Gabriel looks like a mad man having a big psycho tantrum. In the movie it’s like “ok, he’s desperate enough about bringing back his wife that he’s willing to go full villain mode to get her back”. Oh, and when Gabriel first showed up, seeing him walk into an actual workplace was a great idea. In the show, in five seasons we have at best just seen two seconds of him doodling. That gift that he gave Audrey at the end of season three... I rest my case.

Marinette, I’m glad they removed that stalker side they gave her in the show. Some may say “But what about the library scene? Or in the movies?”. He was already in the library when she arrived, she wasn’t chasing him. And in the movies; they went together, she wasn’t following him. Anyways… I do think they overdid it with her clumsiness. It looked more like she was a bad luck magnet. Reminded me of that girl, Sam Greenfield from the movie “Luck”. Kinda made me wish they had given her the cat miraculous. 

Adrien. I also preferred his personality in the movie. There was clear signs of depression from his mother’s death. And then we started seeing him changing. The first step happening after he transformed. I don’t know what has been confirmed as canon for the movie but it looked like the kwamis really affected their personalities. I mean, Master Fu did told Tikki and Plagg not to start quarreling right before opening the box. And that’s how Chat Noir and Ladybug’s relationship started. I loved that quarreling. Love at first sight may seem super romantic, but I prefer love at “second sight” because this means that they have had a chance to get to know each other, so they fall in love of who they are, not first impressions, not just of appearances.  

Adrien talking back to Gabriel… Either Adrien is not a sentibeing here or Gabriel was human enough not to use that to control him. Either option I like. 

I imagine Adrien haters reaction to the movie. They must have hated him even more.

Chat Noir calling Ladybug his side kick was hilarious to me considering how he was demoted to side kick in the show and then further demoted when he was declared a simple accessory by Astruc.

I loved how ten minutes later he swallowed his pride and called himself Ladybug’s side kick. That moment showed maturity in him. And I also loved how Ladybug told him they were partners.  

The movie focused more on Ladybug than Chat Noir, but I think they still left both of them as equals inside the plot. I mean, we were shown Ladybug’s full transformation, not just a flash; and those first moments between holder and kwami, etc., things we didn’t see for Adrien. But I think it was left clear that they were equally important. No leader there. Just partners. Again, I liked that.

I bet lots of people got incredibly upset with Adrien when he noticed his ring flashing and he didn’t get up. He’s representing a 13 year old person who had his heart broken at that moment. What did you expect? We saw how that flashing was the other person calling them. So, he could had thought that it was Ladybug simply wanting to talk to him, the same way he had done before. But he did react once he looked outside the window and saw how serious the situation was. If he still hadn’t reacted after that, then I would had been mad at him too. 

That scene of that guy taking a selfie with Ladybug in troubles in the background…. that was so realistic. People do has exchanged “Safety first” for “Selfie first”. 

Another scene like this that I loved was that old lady in her balcony when Ladybug was fixing everything. She was so adorable! 

I liked seeing Alya in reporter mode again. That was part of who she was and they shouldn’t have taken that away from her in the show. 

Chloé. It was a bit sad seeing her back in square one after having seeing Chloé season two, but I’m grateful for the way they wrote her. She’s a bully, but at least she wasn’t written as bad as in seasons 4 and 5. She’s spoiled, but not irredeemable at this point. I hope they give her the bee miraculous, but after Astruc’s hate campaign on her I doubt she will get it. I hope the writers won’t try to please both Chloé’s fans and haters at the same time, they could give it to her but then be like “Sorry Chloé, we were wrong. You have the potential but you’re not there yet, we’ll pick someone else. Byyyeee!” I wouldn’t like that. Let’s see what happens.

I think there’s a chance she’s incredibly lonely in the movie. Her father could be like “not now sweetie, here’s my credit card, go away” and Audrey may be already in New York. She talks and talks about going to the dance with Adrien, but we didn’t see them not even talking, did we? Maybe I missed it, it was kinda late when I could sit to watch the movie. I also liked that little Audrey foreshadowing when Chloé called Marinette by a wrong name.

One little tiny detail about her appearance… the eyeshadow make up. In my opinion they should had gone for matte, not metallic. But maybe that’s just me.

Oh my goodness, now that I mention appearances… Young Gabriel. I’m sorry I can’t not go mean here.

I’m no expert in fashion, but something about it looked like vintage. Like from the 60s or something like that? Maybe it’s just that it felt too contrasting with the personality they gave him in the show. 

Plagg. Poor little underappreciated kwami. In the show he’s rarely seen, rarely heard. In the movie he was reduced to a farting machine. It was clever in a way, bet it must had made many kids laugh, but he could have been more than that, more than the two seconds when he took Adrien out of bed. Plagg’s personality could bring many funny moments, he could be sort of what Salem was for Sabrina in Sabrina the teenage witch. He could be super sarcastic, the one who is not afraid of being super direct,… funny in more ways.

The reveal. I’m so grateful it happened. I’m not sure how I feel about the superhero suit being able to be partially destroyed. I think that makes it less magical. I would had expected it to be all or nothing, but well, it helped for the reveal to happen, so I guess I’m happy. I’m thankful Marinette chose to let him know her identity. It’s silly the show’s excuse for not having the reveal. The Sailor Scouts know each other’s identities and they’re not in any danger. Buffy’s identity as the vampire slayer was revealed in the first episode of the first season and the world didn’t end for her. Jim’s identity as the trollhunter was also revealed in season one and we had many tales of Arcadia seasons. 

Choosing the miraculous holders. I think it was wise that it happened because the kwamis chose them. In the show it didn’t make sense to choose teenagers who had limits to their powers when the enemy was a full grown adult who didn’t have much limits. 

Speaking of their powers,… In the movie we didn’t have a scene where they had to feed the kwamis in order to keep fighting. But I think there was a moment where Chat Noir’s ring flashed? I don’t remember having heard him yelling ‘cataclysm’ either and I think he only used it once, right towards the end. Was this the reason why we didn’t see them having the five minutes time limit? 

Their powers. I have mixed feelings about this topic, both in the show and in the movie. I don’t know how much I’m just overthinking and how much the writers didn’t sit down and really discuss about them.

When Ladybug fixed Paris, that showed her as a very powerful character. It was way better than the swarm of tiny ladybugs from the show. It reminded me of Chat Noir in the Chat Blanc episode, just going in the healing direction.

I strongly think you cannot make a character that incredibly super powerful. You need to set strong limits and define the powers characteristics incredibly well otherwise things can become fuzzy, pointless, inconsistent or just weird. I personally don’t like it when they write a super powerful character but then suddenly it’s not that powerful when it’s convenient for the plot. Or when they have the power to do something but they choose not to and we’re given no explanation for that choice. I hope this won’t happen with the second movie (Haven’t heard news about a sequel but I’d be super surprised if they weren’t going to make one).

About defining the power’s characteristics. Again, maybe it’s just me, but… Tikki is the kwami of creation. But she seems to me more like the kwami of restoration. Ladybug purifies the akumas, she’s not creating new butterflies. And she fixes Paris; strictly speaking she’s reconstructing, not creating. If her power sticked to creation, then all the debris would remain there since she would be creating new stuff. 

This same goes for Hawkmoth. That balloon being that the mime villain and his partner had, that was like a sentibeing. The same happened in the Kung Food episode. Marinette’s uncle had this floating eyes that were more like sentibeings. The moth miraculous seems to be stepping into the peacock one’s territory.

The moth miraculous’ power: I guess this applies more to the show, but… I really wish they could give us an explanation on how that one works. I mean, wouldn’t it make more sense if they drew power from Hawkmoth? And shouldn’t their powers be less powerful than the other miraculous? I still find it weird how he can give them just about any power. In the fifth season of Sailor Moon, when a victim got attacked and lost their star seeds they were turned into evil sailor scout villains, they were powerful, but they weren’t really at the same level the real Sailor Scouts were. I’m talking about something like this for miraculous.

And finally I want to talk about Sabrina.

I loved Sabrina. I think she was my favorite character in the movie. Sure she was with Chloé and Chloé bullied people, but she was good. In the show, there were moments when her expression was the one of a mean person (The origins episode), then there were moments where she was just Chloé’s assistant, other were she was basically Chloé’s slave and finally just like that she left Chloé. In the movie we’re being shown since the beginning how she’s actually a good person. I loved when she helped Marinette by not saying she had seen her and then at the end when she shrugged. Hope she’ll take some sense into Chloé and I’d like to hear more about her motivation to remain with Chloé. 

Let’s see what they give us for the second movie. Hope it will keep this level of quality. And maybe a very unpopular opinion… I would love it if they added less songs. 😅

Theories and Spoilers for Twisted Wonderland/Kingdom Hearts series ahead! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Yuu/MC/The Player is a Twisted version of Sora.

Alright so preface Kingdom Hearts is canonically linked with Disney canon and Twisted Wonderland is based on Disney movie lore so I can mix the two and no one can tell me otherwise I'll explain later

So chapter 6 apparently just finished when I'm writing this so chapter 7 will be next with Diasomnia but will the story continue past 7? Will other students overblot or maybe will the staff? Possibly Grim too? I heard a rumour about us meeting some more RSA students but I'll believe it when I see it.

So I got an idea.

Other people have written about the MC overblotting in fanfics right (psst @wolken-himmel has a really good overblot fic go check it out) and I've seen some art of a potential Grim overblot which looked really cool but I raise you this.

If the player/Yuu/MC were to overblot, I imagine it looks pretty similar to Anti Form Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2

Yeah this guy. Remember playing KHII and you try to use a drive form and this monstrosity pops out instead so you just run around killing enemies like a damn feral monkey?

And what if their overblot monster was like Darkside? But like more Twisted-like.

Now the logistics of overblotting state that it's caused by severe distress and overuse of magic, but because I say so what if something happens to us and we suddenly gain the ability to overblot?

@wolken-himmel hopefully you don't mind me referencing your Overblot!MC fic but they came up with MC eating one of the black stones that gets left behind after the overblots and then can use magic.

So what if something like that happened to the MC? They just get so fed up with everything and finally lash out but instead of still being able to talk and communicate with people they just turn into pure corruption and malice and rage. There's no light left in their eyes as they thrash around like a wild dog until someone subdues them or they eventually run out of juice.

Look if Donald Duck can technically be the most powerful white mage in Square Enix lore than I can bring Kingdom Hearts to Twisted Wonderland okay I will not stop until Disney themselves bust down my door.

So back to my point of us the player being a Twisted!Sora.

We got yoinked into Twisted Wonderland by complete chance, right? The same thing happens to Sora in KHI on the Destiny Islands, which he then travels to the Disney worlds and helps the characters go through their story. We have lived through the events of;

The Little Mermaid

Aladdin

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Hercules

The only Disney stories we haven't played through yet are

All of these (except for PatF) have been used as worlds and/or featured in a KH game. We can also argue that since we cannot use magic that Grim can be argued to be a de facto Keyblade since any magic is performed by him as a proxy. And in the first game Sora couldn't use magic at all without the Keyblade before he learned how to use his powers.

Now granted Sora himself didn't go through every Disney world by himself since Ventus was the one to travel through Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White in Birth By Sleep but they are connected by Sora's heart. So he's done so in spirit through Ventus since they share the same heart.

I really haven't seen anyone take this approach yet (unless it was in Japanese but I can't read japanese so I don't know) but I know I haven't seen it in English. (Unless someone else did write it and I'm just stupid) but for now I will claim this theory.

Master List of Gay Cartoons

In honor of Pride month (and to help those who are suffering since Amphibia ended and The Owl House is on Hiatus), I decided to make a list of gay cartoons. Mainly because I realized younger members of fandoms might not be aware that these shows exist. Enjoy :)

The Legend of Korra (2012-2014)

 4 Seasons

This is the show that started it all. Korra and Asami were the first canon gay couple in a kids cartoon. They became canon before gay marriage was even legal. Not much of their relationship is shown onscreen, but they paved the way for all that followed.

The show itself is great, especially seasons 3 and 4. Korra in particular has a great character arc, and like Avatar before it, it continues to have great worldbuilding and an epic magic system. It’s funny, it’s heartfelt, and the fight scenes are super cool. 

Adventure Time (2010-2018)

10 Seasons

I’ve never seen this show, but I have seen clips of Princess Bubblegum and Marceline and they are amazing.

All I know about this show is that it’s in a post apocalyptic universe, the vampire writes awesome songs, and it’s gay. After ten seasons. (Which by the way shout out to the fans who shipped Bubbline since the beginning your strength of will is incredible)

Gravity Falls (2012-2014)

2 Seasons

This show is incredible. It’s funny, has a really fun animation style, cool creatures, and it’s the parent show to Owl House and Amphibia. The characters are great, the mysteries and codes will keep you guessing, and the villain is a triangle in a top hat. There’s two gay minor side characters and a main character (Wendy) was confirmed Bi offscreen. 

Also, this show is a part of Disney’s pride collection, which is odd considering when it aired Disney was constantly censoring any of Alex Hirsch’s attempts at LGBTQ rep.

Steven Universe (2013-2020)

5 Seasons, 1 movie, 1 sequel season 

Both over-hyped and over-hated this show seriously did so much for gay representation. So many modern cartoons wouldn’t be able to exist without it. Practically every character is gay in some way. You’ve got a lesbian wedding, an ace character, multiple non-binary characters, and a main character who doesn’t give a shit about gender stereotypes. 

It’s got lots of found family, gay pining, cool fight scenes, and amazing original songs. (Peace and Love on the Planet Earth is a bop) The characters and their relationships with each other are really complex. Season 1 is mostly fun filler episodes but after that, things start getting Intense. 

Star Vs. the Forces of Evil (2015-2019)

4 Seasons

I also haven’t seen this show. All I know is that there are gay characters, and the show is semi-well liked, and the girl is considered a war criminal for some reason?  

Voltron Legendary Defender

8 Seasons

I never finished this show, but what I watched was pretty good. There’s space, giant robots, and Pidge. One of the main characters is gay. (I also watched it after its prime and didn’t interact with the fandom, so I don’t really know what happened all I know is Shit Went Down.) 

Ducktales (2017-2020)

3 Seasons

Like Gravity Falls, this show doesn’t have much in the way of on-screen rep (two background characters and one character confirmed offscreen), but it’s a great show nonetheless. Also, Webby and Lena, although not canon, raise the gayness level by a heck of a lot.  

It’s basically about a bunch of ducks going on adventures as a family. Its full of moments that will make you laugh, has a cool comic-style or animation, and gets surprisingly serious at times. It also has David Tennant as a Scottish duck and Catherine Tate as his nemesis. 

She Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018-2020)

5 Seasons

Everyone in this show is gay. I’m not kidding. The main characters are lesbians. The other main characters are Bi. Pretty sure the only straight one is the main villain. It also has the classic Childhood Friends to Enemies to Lovers. 

As for the actual show, imagine a bunch of sparkly princesses, now add Star Wars, an evil cult, and then make it gay. That’s the show. There’s swordfights, robots, a character named Glimmer who likes blowing things up, a talking horse, Adora who is way too relatable, some war crimes, Catra who can never have a good day, Best Boy Bow, and they save the day with the power of love. It has everything you could want honestly. 

The Dragon Prince (2018- Present)

3 Seasons (with more on the way)

Most of the gay characters in this show are side characters, but they’re all amazing. You got the lesbian moms, the gay dads, the twink elf with glasses, and a badass general who’s probably gonna end up with this fire elf girl. 

The first three seasons are great and the next one is hopefully coming out soon (It’s been a three-year hiatus. End me). It’s made by some of the same people who made Avatar. There’s a classic element based magic system, the animation is beautiful, and there’s dragons. The main couple is great and one of the main characters is voiced by Sokka. 

Amphibia (2019-2022)

3 Seasons

Most of the rep in this show is minor characters, but in the finale one of the main characters was confirmed Bi and two side characters got together. 

This show has fun fantasy adventures with epic season finales. The worldbuilding is well done, the voice acting (especially Hop Pop) is excellent, and it never fails to make me laugh. There’s found family, childhood friends to enemies, and a whole lot of character growth throughout the show. Warning: this looks like a goofy frog show. You will cry. Many times.

Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts (2020)

3 Seasons

This show is seriously underrated. One of the main characters (Benson) is gay with another gay side character and a non-binary background character. 

It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where giant mutant animals have pretty much taken over. The soundtrack is awesome, the characters are fun, and the villains are really well written. It’s just all around a fun time. 

The Owl House (2020-present)

2 Seasons (shortened 3rd season upcoming)

This show man. 

You have a bi main character dating a lesbian (the word girlfriend is used several times onscreen), and several other characters who are gay including a non-binary character and an Aro-Ace character. 

It’s a fantasy show with a cool magic system. The animation (especially in some of the fight scenes) is incredible, the found family will warm your heart, the season finales will tear it out, and it’s just all around a great show. It will have you laughing one minute and sobbing the next. The characters are also well-written and complex. Especially in season 2, everyone gets their time to shine. 

This show is also like half of Disney’s pride collection Which is odd when you consider the fact that it was cut short for “not fitting the Disney brand” but it’s fine. I’m not bitter. 

Arcane (2021-present)

1 Season (so far)

I can’t praise this show enough. It genuinely is one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. It’s Greek Tragedy but done with stunning animation and a steampunk vibe. The writing and music are excellent, and every character feels so real. Also, lesbians. 

(Side note: Unlike the other shows on this list, this is not a kids show, and it’s definitely not a happy show. If you’re bothered by blood or people being brutally killed, then don’t watch it.) 

Honorable Mentions

Teen Titans (2003-2006)

This show doesn’t have any gay characters, but its a great show, and definitely caused some people’s gay awakenings

Avatar the Last Airbender (2005-2008)

The show isn’t gay but the it’s sequel is and it also just one of the best cartoons I’ve ever seen.

RWBY (2013-present)

The only reason this didn’t make the list is because I’m not sure if it counts as a Cartoon or an Anime. One of the main characters is canonically Bi, there’s a few gay side characters, and they are hinting at a gay relationship soon, but whether or not it will happen is still up in the air.

HAVE A NICE CUP OF TEA AND SIT DOWN

So, fun fact about me: I’m a Disney Animated Canon and Pixar fanatic. I’ve been to the parks in Florida four times and might not ever go again with the jacked up prices whoops-

But the point is, I like those movies and rides, despite everything. And recently I picked up on a couple of things that started mentally serving as inspiration for how Spaul moves.

Like those really impressive animatronics they have lately at the parks (I haven’t seen any of them in person rip-), they’re really fluid and life like! But uncanny in very subtle ways. And when they shut down they just…freeze and drop their heads and hands in a very robotic manner. All life sucked out of their forms.

I’d like to imagine that’s what happens whenever Spaul says [Hyperlink Blocked]…except he’s right back to moving afterwards.

Ok ok, one more thing. You know those ventriloquist dummy butlers Gabby has in Toy Story 4? You know, these things? Well, they run in a very interesting way. Hands and arms just sort of dangling as they run way faster than they should for plastic dolls with stubby legs. I’d say that’s how Spaul runs as well. God bless these animators, putting so much detail into how each type of toy moves and reacts to things.

Anyway *ahem* yeah! There’s some headcanons about how Spaul moves. In conclusion support the works Disney creates and the companies that they bought out but don’t support Disney the massive conglomerate themselves, thank you for coming to my TED talk-
