drowning lessons and deathwish are kind of like the same song, but from the other character’s perspective. drowning lessons is about this girl being killed over and over again by this guy, and deathwish is her continuing to come back from the dead. both of those characters are gerard way.

and THEN the secretary is the final form, an actual ghost(“avenge my ghost,” “your starless eyes remain”) who literally dies every night and comes back bloodier and bloodier and with dead-white pupils but nonetheless alive.
