HTTYD Retelling Fanfic Poll
Here's a poll for ya. If and when I ever decide to get working on my Berkian Sagas — or the HTTYD Retelling, which seeks to fix things about the series — what setting should I go with?
Keep in mind that regardless of your choice, the human-dragon conflict will still remain. But how Berk fights that conflict will depend on your vote.
Personally, I kinda found it silly that Berk never used dragons to fight dragons like they did in the Books. I also found it silly that Berk was the only Tribe to ride dragons, afterwards. Maybe it was because of politics and nobody wanted to train dragons, but... I find it hard to believe that Berk never taught any of the other Tribes how to train dragons.
But then... the plot potential of Berk sending representatives to teach others on how to train dragons as a diplomatic and political gesture sounds pretty cool, actually. 👀😮🤔
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. Here's the poll. 😅

Would it be hilarious if a part of the Haddock Family's wealth came from Stoick (and maybe his own dad and/or granddad) constantly carving those wooden duck figurines and then selling them to Johann? 😂👀
Been feeling in a haddock family fluff mood for awhile, do you have any headcanons about the hiccstrid babies and/or momstrid and Hicdad?
OKay okay okay okay!!!! YES. Okay I just came up with something right now because of your prompt!
For like, eternity, I have had headcanons about Stoick and his wooden ducks. Stoick started carving the wooden ducks when Hiccup was a small boy - these were toys for his son. Well, Stoick found carving ducks so relaxing he just... kept doing it. Had to start giving them to the other children in the village because he’d make so many.
(If Stoick were alive when Hiccup and Astrid had kids, Stoick would make SO many ducks that eventually they’d have to tell Stoick to stop. Hiccup: “Dad. Dad. We don’t need a sixty-fourth duck.”)
So like. Just imagine. Hiccup and Astrid are going to be new parents, and Hiccup’s thinking about all the ways he can be a great father. Imagine if his handiness with blacksmithing, inventing, and other crafting got him into building essentials like a crib (a crib perhaps too elaborate to be practical, and Astrid’s rolling her eyes at him).
But then he gets reflective, and he remembers with pained quiet fondness about... Stoick and those ducks.
And as Hiccup is sitting down, holding a knife and a block of wood in his hand, he finds himself whittling... whittling away a toy in the shape of a duck.
This later fuels Hiccup getting RATHER creative with the toys he makes his tiny daughter, and later his son. The toys often have mechanic elements - some of them are half-contraption, half-toy. Zephyr loves them. And in retrospect...... maybe Hiccup is in part to blame for all the contraptions and traps she begins to build.

Who Replaced Savage as Alvin's Chief Subordinate? (Defenders of Berk/RTTE)
Tumblr media
Hello, everyone! Welcome to another HTTYD article! Today, we'll be going into another Alvin/Outcast topic!
Anyone wonder who replaced Savage as Alvin's subordinate after Dagur's defeat at the Defenders of Berk finale? Savage fled after Dagur's capture, and Alvin was left sans a right-hand man. So who took over his position?
I can think of a few people. Though, it could always be somebody that we don't even know. But, for argument's sake, let's start with four likely candidates. With one additional fanon option, which I'll add at the end of this.
The first candidate I'd like to present you as a likely option is this guy in the Riders of Berk episode "Alvin and the Outcasts," where he runs to Alvin, who's in Stoick's place, and reports of having been given reports by Scouts about Bucket and Mulch with a bunch of others heading to Thor's Beach, along with Stoick and a group heading into the forest.
Tumblr media
We also see in later on, when he's stranded on Dragon Island with Alvin, Savage, and others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally, I like this guy. He looks like he's got a good head on his shoulders, and he's got a pretty nice voice. Sadly, he doesn't have a name despite having a speaking part since he doesn't have one in the credits. 😔🙏🏻
So let's just call him Hugin, after one of Odin's ravens who reports to him all he finds. 🤷‍♂️
It's hard to tell if we see him in other episodes after this, since it's been awhile since I've watched ROB, and we also have to deal with the multiple Outcast minion clones that resemble him. 😵‍💫
The Second Candidate for the position of Alvin's chief subordinate is this guy, found in RTTE Season 6 episode "Return of Thor Bonecrusher", who talks to the Gang and informs them about the situation, as well as the pike:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's call him Cheeky, due to his cheekguards. (I honestly don't know what to say about that helmet. It's not even covering his cheeks but his nose area instead. 💀 Is his beard THAT bushy? 😅)
Now, this could be pure coincidence — again, given the clones DreamWorks Dragons LOVES to duplicate — but we also see him in "Alvin and the Outcasts", along with, I assume, the first candidate I've just mentioned earlier, convening with Alvin in their Great Hall, listening to Alvin's plan about capturing the "Dragon Conqueror".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Judging from this picture above, I'm assuming that he's one of Alvin's subordinates, since usually the only ones allowed to be in-the-know about a chieftain's plans or schemes are those under their retinue: the commanders who lead the men and keep things somewhat civilized and orderly.
Of course, the men in these two pics look different: One looks rather friendly while the other one just above us looks rather stern and focused, as a subordinate ought to be. So this could just be two completely different people. Though that could be that he only gets "that way" — friendly and talkative — when talking about Ice Pike. (That, actually could be very interesting. 😮 A literal ice-breaker, that. 🤭)
So in case I'm wrong, let me clarify: the second candidate is the one we see in "Alvin and the Outcasts," just like this fella here just down below, wearing a... full-faced spangenhelm — the Third Candidate:
Let's call him Helmface.
Tumblr media
We also see him in "Return of Thor Bonecrusher," and, if memory serves, he was with Cheeky when he explained the pike, and then threw up when Fishlegs, as Thor, ate one of them raw. 💀
In ROB's "Alvin and the Outcasts," we also see him — or who we assume is him — among those stranded with Alvin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, keep in mind that full-helmed goons for Outcasts, Berserkers and Hunters are usually just your run-of-the-mill common soldier. So I may be fully wrong and am just assuming that since the other two subordinates are there that he is also a subordinate.
And now we get to the Fourth and Final Candidate: Mildew.
That's right. Mildew.
Tumblr media
As you know, in the ROB finale, as well as Defenders of Berk, Mildew has become an Outcast and serves Alvin. And after learning how to train dragons thanks to Hiccup impromptu dragon training lesson, he uses this knowledge to teach the Outcasts how to train dragons — namely Whispering Deaths and even Changewings.
(I'll be honest, I was rather disappointed that they passed on the opportunity to have a bunch of Outcast Dragon Riders. That would've been much more entertaining. And that would've been an extra nod to the books. That really should've been added. 😢😔)
He's also shown to be really intelligent, not only in being competent in handling the dragons, but also came up with several ideas to deal with the dragons: In ROB's "Dragon Flower," he bought Blue Oleanders which was basically poison for the dragons and thus weakened them considerably (honestly, it would've been great to utilize blue oleander to keep dragons away from certain places or as a type of defensive measure, etc — another lost opportunity); In "Dragons We Trust," Mildew successfully used his dragon tools to frame the dragons and get them banished from Berk, thus leaving Berk open to an Outcast raid (you can read here). In DOB's "Live and Let Fly," "The Iron Gronkle," "Tunnel Vision," and "Worst in Show," Mildew set a plan to destroy Berk from within by using Whispering Death eggs. And, unintentionally, it brought forth the Screaming Death, which gave a much greater challenge to Berk; and he also then suggested using those tunnels made by the Whispering Deaths to sneak into Berk and do whatever they wanted, and was able to capture Meatlug as a result.
And finally, at the end in the DOB finale episode "Cast Out," he was the inside man which helped Alvin and Hiccup to sneak onto Outcast Island and free Stoick and defeat Dagur. I don't know how he got caught, since I'm sure Savage or the other Outcasts should've told Dagur about him, the Whispering Deaths, and the caves. But they either don't know, or, in Savage's case, perhaps he didn't like Mildew's increasing importance within the Outcast Tribe and didn't want him doing the same thing as a Berserker subordinate. Who knows. But that would actually be interesting. 🤔🤷‍♂️ But all we know is that Mildew was one of the few Outcasts who knew about Alvin's return and helped him defeat Dagur.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, Mildew is a resourceful and intelligent individual, despite his acrimonious and recalcitrant complaints. He obviously keeps all that to himself while on Outcast Island, since he could lose his head. Or maybe he just genuinely enjoys not being on Berk. Who knows. 🤷‍♂️
Tumblr media
According to School of Dragons game lore — and you guys know how much I avoid game and comic lore to the hilt! — Mildew apparently can't stand that there are too many dragons both on Outcast Island and on Berk, and thus travels to a less-populated island called Icestorm Island. This would, of course, disprove this theory that Mildew became Alvin's chief subordinate, if this is true.
So this is up to you guys on whether you wish to incorporate this part of the game lore into it or not. Personally, I don't. So I'll be ignoring this. That being said, though, it WOULD be like Mildew to try to get away from dragons. But in the show, Mildew looked like he was having a soft spot for the Whispering Deaths and all that, so... I don't know. Make out of that what you will. 🤷‍♂️
And thus, my final candidate is a fanon one of my own concoction:
Fishlegs Ingerman.
Tumblr media
I had just posted some posts concerning this (see here and here), but Fishlegs after the "The Return of Thor Bonecrusher" would've been the perfect candidate for Alvin. He saved his (Alvin's) life and is very intelligent and strong as an individual. If Fishlegs decided that Berk wasn't the place for him and yearned to do something more or to continue doing something adventurous, joining the Incasts-nee-Outcasts as Alvin's chief subordinate — even heir — and gaining fame and achievements and honor for himself. Personally, I'm really liking this headcanon-cum-theory. 😁
Of heck, it could even be some random character who we aren't aware of. Or even a child or young man that washed up on shore who Alvin had taken under his wing. The sky's the limit!
So in conclusion, there are several candidates who have the potential of being Alvin's chief subordinate. As to who, I'll leave that up to you. Let me know what you guys think. I'd love to see your thoughts on this.
After this post, there will probably be another 3 or so Alvin or Outcasts-related articles before I dive into the Berserkers or other topics! I'll also try to make sure to post the links on my blog so that they'll be readily available.
Thank you very much for reading! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Ironmongers' Saga HTTYD Fanfic Poll || Minden's Disguise
Tumblr media
Should Minden be in disguise as a male warrior in an AU where she doesn't want to become a Wingmaiden and have a Mulan-esque scenario, or should she be there as herself as a shieldmaiden sword-for-hire?
Thank you for voting! This helps with where to go with the story.

Ironmongers' Saga HTTYD Fanfic Poll
So I was wondering whether this Minlout fanfic should be with dragons or without dragons. What I mean is, should Hookfang be with Snotlout in an AU where everyone has dragons, or should this setting be where the original movie plot is in effect and due to the Dragon Wars, Snotlout leaves to become a mercenary somewhere else?
Thank you for voting! I should get another chapter done soon.

Color Phobias
Tumblr media
So I got curious about the different color phobias since I was writing an OC who'd be afraid of the color red, and it just went down the rabbit hole and I ended up searching for the other colors as well. Not sure if this is all of the colors, but this is what I ended up with.
So I hope this helps you guys if you yourself ever got curious or if you also wanted to give a color phobia to a character of yours or to a canon character from whichever fandom you're writing for.
Here are the different color phobias:
Erythrophobia, fear of the color red.
Chrysophobia, fear of the color orange or gold.
Cyanophobia, fear of the color blue.
Kastanophobia, fear of the color brown.
Leukophobia, fear of the color white.
Prasinophobia, fear of the color green.
Rhodophobia, fear of the color pink.
Porphyrophobia, fear of the color purple.
Melanophobia, fear of the color black.
Xanthophobia, fear of the color yellow.
Thank you for reading.

Thank you everyone for voting on the poll for my future "Love Potion" fanfic idea for HTTYD!
The winner was, of course, Hiccstrid, while second place was to "Depends on how good the story is", basically those who remain on the fence. So guess I'll do Hiccstrid, then afterwards, I'll do an alternate ending where Hiccther get together.

Golden Bois... Or Are They Really? (RTTE)
Tumblr media
After re-watching the RTTE series, what's curious to note is that the Flyers riding the yellow Singetails all have gold-scaled dragonskin shirts — or, at least, I don't remember seeing them riding anything BUT the yellow Singetails. I kinda find that interesting. Love the color scheme, but it'd be nice if there was a reason for that.
I just thought of something completely macabre: Wouldn't it be interesting if the gold-scaled dragonskin shirts were from yellow Singetails, so that the yellow Singetail could accept the Flyer easier? But then, if that's the case, the question would then be why the other Flyers don't do that instead of wearing dragonskins of other dragon species?
Of course, as I say that, there are a few instances where others ride the yellow Singetail, such as this Zippleback-skin garbed Flyer in "Guardians of Vanaheim".
(I edited these following photos to make it easier for you guys to see, since the backgrounds were night-time.)
Tumblr media
And in "Family Matters," we see a gold-scaled Flyer NOT riding a yellow Singetail, but rather his Nightmare-skinned comrade instead.
Tumblr media
So much for that theory. Thrown off a cliff like one of Snotlout's trust exercises gone awry. lol 🤪
There are even some examples of the Nightmare-skin bois riding the yellow Singetails, like this one in "Family Matters", who, interestingly enough, is wearing a Nadder-wing skirt if you squint.
Tumblr media
So yeah, that was an interesting observation. Thank goodness I rewatched Season 5 and 6 or else this would've been very embarrassing. lol 😅
So this wasn't the article I had originally planned on writing for this weekend, but one of my back-ups. However, I ended up having a rough weekend, so this was what I could do. Hope you guys enjoyed this a bit, at least.
Long Live the Night!

Singetail Eggs || Season 6, Episode 9 "Family Matters"
Here are some shots of Singetail eggs. Just felt like sharing them after rewatching "Family Matters" recently. Probably one of my top favorite episodes in this series.
I have to say, they look very beautiful. 🥰
I edited these shots since the originals were pretty dark, so I brightened them up a bit so you guys could see the eggs easier. I have to say, it looks pretty nice. 😁
Hope you guys like them! Thanks for reading!

You are most welcome, @brb-on-a-quest ! Glad I could help! Thanks for a wonderful topic! 😉
i keep having thoughts
so... when we see dragons eating sheep, they're often depicted as swallowing them whole to make sure they're known as big scary bad guys. Which I feel like would be a very uncomfortable eating experience bc...wool is scratch and floofy and it'd be like... eating a very furry peach that had like triple the amount of skin on it? But like not sweet in the middle because its meat.
And then its like...how do dragon take off floof? I'd imagine teeth would be not fun because then you have wool in your mouth. I don't know if burning sheep alive would work because then you've just burnt your entire dinner bc hair burns extremely fast. Claws would not be efficient I don't think but like maybe?
@walkthruthewords thoughts? What is your experience on eating sheep? Do you eat with or without the floof? :P

Thank you for the ping, @heatherthetiredwriter 😀 Time to get my HTTYD-knowledge monocle on. 😂🧐
In the Books, the dragons never had problems with eating sheep. Though, to be fair, many of them have sharp teeth and claws to get through all that. They could also use their claws to sheer off the wool. And there's always burning the wool away, but there's a risk of charring the sheep if the dragon doesn't like it.
It's kinda the same with the dragons in HTTYD movie and TV franchise. Only, we see the Red Death eating it and being fine with it since it's so massive. The rest of the time, dragons seem to be content with fish, boars, chickens, and others. If they eat mutton, it's usually if a human has already prepared the meat for them. Or a dragon as a particular trait that allows them to eat them foregoing the wool. (Can't think of any off the top of my head though).
The one thing I DO question is dragons being able to eat fruits and bread. That's... I don't think that's possible. Dragons, for one, are carnivores. Period, end of story! Unless there's a certain dragon that DOES have a fruit, glucose/nectar, or even herbivorous diet. (Like the Buffalord.) But dragons like Toothless and the Five Commons? Yeah, no. Sorry. Not happening.

HTTYD Fanfic Idea: Love Potion Prompt
Hey, everyone. I just came up with an interesting fanfic idea based on a prompt that I had in my to-do list for the past few years but never got around to it.
The idea is where Hiccup and Heather drink a love potion (unknowingly) thanks to a witch who's trying to get revenge on Stoick and chaos ensues. Not sure whether Hiccther becomes end game or not, but it sounded like a funny prompt to do, so I came up with this.
What do you guys think? Vote on the poll if you'd like Hiccther or Hiccstrid as an end-game pairing for this prompt.

Fishlegs is Alvin's Son? (HTTYD/RTTE Theory/Headcanon)
Tumblr media
Well met, my fellow Furians! In connection with my Fishlegs the Outcast article (here), this is another article concerning the relationship between Fishlegs and Alvin the Treacherous Trustworthy.
Could Fishlegs be Alvin's son?
Why would I ask that? Well, if you're a fan of the books like I am, it's obvious I'd ask this question. In the books, Fishlegs was Alvin's son. (Spoilers: Alvin doesn't get a redemption arc in the books. He remains an unrepentant villain to the last! 😂)
Naturally, of course, this is the TV series, and TV Alvin is va-a-a-a-astly different from his Book counterpart. As is Fishlegs, for that matter. And, well, the entire story plot. So it just goes to show that it's 98% likely that they have zero blood relations at all!
HOWEVER!!! That doesn't mean that it's impossible! It's always plausible that Fishlegs could've been adopted, like in the books, and that his real biological father is Alvin!
Of course, in reality, Fishlegs and Alvin have had too few interactions to really authenticate this theory, but at the same time, it's also possible for Alvin to totally not recognize his son (especially if he's never seen the child to begin with), and thus treat him differently than if he knew that he was his son.
Regardless of whether this is true or not, the fact that this plausibility exists just adds an additional layer of depth to this relationship that wasn't there before, and I'm LOVING IT!! 🤩😍
What do you guys think? Do you think that TV Fishlegs and Alvin could be biologically related? Or do you think that they're not related at all?
Thank you for reading and I hope that you have a wonderful day! See you in another article!
Long Live the Night!
