As much as there are times where i wish that i could drop everything i’ve put hard work into just to attend one of his football games and only be know to the public as the girlfriend of a football player, i worked too hard for too many years just to give everything up for a man. there are many more football games that will be happening this season in Cincinnati that i will be able to attend in the future; i’ll be watching the game from home while working, and i’ll be rooting for the Bengals to win, and i’ll be loving Joe the way that i’ve been loving him for many years just like if i were at the game.

Hi Scarlet! I saw your twt bio said no dms so I thought I would share my successes here that I got from your threads and content!

Bit of a background: I hovered over from the a+p girlies after affirming for 9-10 months for all my desires, using everything they taught and even putting full faith into thoughts and science manifesting. I would affirm almost nonstop (during work, school, even as I was eating/talking to others) for the entire time and I eventually got super frustrated! Not a single manifestation came in or even the slightest movement, maybe a butterfly and a car here and there (looking back at it its because I accepted seeing them internally and didn’t contradict that state, it wasn’t even the affirming). In March-ish I found your account on my timeline and previously I would ignore any states related information because I thought states were the same as dominant thoughts, but something about your thread at the time caught my attention which led me down a rabbit hole (positively!) of consuming your threads. I realized a lot of it actually made sense and explained why I didn’t see success so far.

Anyways so after a few weeks of learning about states I decided to stop overconsuming and stick to your account and edward art ONLY for all my manifestation needs. It was a little hard breaking free from the affirming mindset but I decided to focus on embodying how it would feel if I no longer had to worry about my thoughts and allowed that to wash over me. I used your “embody being the solution” thread SO SO much and I realized I was able to quickly solve all my internal issues using that because anytime I felt stuck, I just had to assume the feeling of being unstuck and what the ideal situation would be! I also fell in love with fulfilling my imagination and although I did care about experiencing it in the 3D, it was more like me not even thinking of it reflecting because its a LAW. I remember you saying you don’t even have to think about stuff reflecting because it does so anyways and my only role is to naturally give it to myself. So here is a list of some of my *bigger* manifestations that came in within a month-ish of me APPLYING states of being after I learned about it:

SP and I got back together after 8 months no contact and 11 months separation

My top choice graduate school which rejected me months ago actually reaching out to me offering me a spot saying the rejection was a “system error”

Free coachella tickets all expense paid in a luxury hotel that sponsored not only me but my boyfriend and 3 friends

My favorite makeup brand randomly sending me a HUGE package of makeup that I never ordered or asked for (I wanted more makeup from this brand)

My dad receiving a random check to clear his entire credit card debt of around a decade

A better job for my boyfriend that pays him double of his last one and has flexible hours that he didn’t need to apply for or interview and hes been loving it!

Free first class plane tickets to Bali this summer! I had already booked normal ones months before but last week I got an email saying my party had randomly been selected for a free upgrade. This happened like a day or so after I for fun assumed the state of someone who has a live of luxury.

I have other smaller successes but these are some of my main ones!I really want to thank you scarlet you have honestly changed my life and I can’t believe it truly was that easy all along! Thank you for your amazing threads, please continue dropping more (I literally have your notifs on haha)

If say there’s officially Dick Grayson finally getting married and there’s no interruptions to it (whether it’s with Kory or Babs is up to you ;-) ),

Would Tim Drake, no matter his age, be the ring bearer?

I actually have wanted Dick to get married for awhile, though, I want it as part of a bigger storyline about Dick being able to move into the next phase of his life, like the guy is mid-20s (I think the last I heard was that he's ~24?) and that's the age when Bruce adopted him and, to continue the theme of "Dick is the better version of Batman", I would love to see him deal with a kid, whether a bio-kid from a marriage or an orphan he adopts and this time is truly his. (Godddddd, what we could have had with Damian.) But about the wedding specifically (and haha I see what you did there, I appreciate the gently setting aside of the ship question! 💕) oh lord that just makes my head spin because, like, who would be the best man is the first question that pops up--my initial instinct is to say Bruce, but honestly I'm not sure, because I think Dick might choose Wally instead, that's his best friend (in his opinion, I will die on the hill that it's actually Donna XD) and Bruce would be father of the groom, the one who does a lot of the hosting and making sure everything runs smoothly. Honestly, I think Dick would choose Damian for the role of ring bearer, it's so often given to a younger family member and Tim might feel a little too old for it, so he would be one of the groomsmen--it's hard to choose just four (I'm limiting myself to just four) but I think Jason and Tim would definitely be groomsmen, possibly Clark (though, I could see him just as a guest, but I prefer groomsman) or-- NO, LISTEN, I THINK HALEY IS ADORABLE AND WOULD BE THE RINGBEARER, with Tim, Jason, Damian, and Roy as groomsmen (or maybe Tim, Damian, Donna, and Roy, depending on if Jason if feeling up to being a groomsman), because Dick adores that doggo and thinks having her as the ringbearer would be ADORABLE. Dick Grayson has never in his life met a fun, light-hearted adorable idea that he wouldn't think was a delight.

Hello friend! I had a lot of fun putting together game recommendations for this, I've seen a few games inspired by Monster Hunter and I definitely see the appeal!

Monster Guts, by Wheels Within Wheels Publishing.

Welcome to MONSTER GUTS, a tabletop roleplaying game, Illuminated by LUMEN, that draws from your favorite monster-hunting video games.

This book has rules to build your scavenger, pick a starting weapon and friendly companion critter, and then go out hunting giant monsters!

Set in a post-capitalism world where monsters bio-engineered to extract resources have destroyed much of the world, you must hunt these creatures to sustain your village, one of the few settlements in the Pacific Northwest to have survived. You'll also harvest tags that you can slot into your weapons and garb to power up your scavenger.

Monster Guts is LUMEN, so expect cinematic action with effective moves that feel more and more powerful as you level up. It’s made a bit of a splash on Itch.io due to its ability to replicate the feeling of the Monster Hunter video game. Your character classes take the form of weapons, with different stats and special abilities. There are also tags that can be added on to them as you slay monsters for their parts. When it comes to the backstory, the lore focuses on a small village, trying to survive in a world of monsters that they once created. Once again, the enemy is capitalism.

Butchers & Beasties, by Kerobuki.

A Monster Hunter-like TTRPG hacked from a mixture of Emiel Boven's DURF  and the creator’s own projects.

Butchers & Beasties is a bare-bones, rules-only draft of a monster-hunting game. It uses dice pools of d6’s and staggered successes for basic conflict resolution. Inventory is important in this game - you have limited inventory slots and you also have to choose where you’re going to store your equipment - will you keep your lantern in your pack, and have to dig it out every time you use it, or will you store it on your belt for easy access? You also choose a role for your character, which grants you with base items. There’s rules for traps. weapons, ailments and elements, which gives the play group a broad set of possible combinations to factor in when hunting beasts. Overall, if you’re looking for an OSR-friendly game this is probably a great place to start, as everything in here looks like a tool set that you’ll need to pick up with an play around with a bit to see just how much it can do.

After the Great Beast, by Harper Jay.

You are a Hunter, and great beasts are threatening your village. Gather your weapon and your friends, and defend your home. Along the way, you will gather materials, craft traps and potions, and maintain your weapon, all while following the great beast's tracks.

After The Great Beast is a Breathless game inspired by the Monster Hunter franchise. 

I am so so excited about this game. After the Great Beast is Breathless, which means that it provides you with a limited number of resources, which deplete as you play. You can stop to refresh your resources, but in the process you let time get away from you - and that means your problems get bigger. I think it has a lot of potential for a satisfying loop of play, and I’m impressed at the size of this game. A lot of the Breathless games I’ve looked at in the past are under 10 pages, but After The Great Beast is over 20! This is because of the extra tools differentiating weapons, special effects, world details and beast rules. There’s even a little bestiary and advice on how to set up an adventure for this kind of game. If you want lots of different pieces to play with and a setting that’s already laid out for you a little bit, then I’d recommend checking out After The Great Beast.

Wilderfeast, by Horrible Guild.

Wilderfeast is an RPG about becoming part of the natural world by making it part of you.

Players assume the role of “wilders”: monster hunters/chefs who wield gargantuan kitchen implements and gain powerful mutations from each monster they eat. Using those powers, they seek harmony between humanity and the wild.

All creatures, be they humans or monsters, obey the One Law of the One Land…

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Wilderfeast is a game about hunting and cooking monsters, with tactical game mechanics for the hunting portion of the game, and narrative prompts for the cooking portions. This is a game in which an eldritch virus has made kaiju-like monsters frenzied and dangerous. Your characters have discovered that killing and feeding on these monsters gives them interesting mutations. I think this game has a lot of promise, because it gives you both the chance to puzzle through combat and feel competent when you fight, while also giving you tools that give the in-between scenes narrative weight - you even partake in a ritual before eating that allows you to thank the monster for its gift!

A few, Pero Tovar thought-free, days later, your phone pings with an email notification. Most of your emails these days are shipping confirmations for books you’d preordered months ago. So you are surprised when an email from Pero Tovar pops up on your lock screen. 

Ugh. You’d been having a good day up until now. What did he want with you? A partner to kick some puppies? Someone to yell at sweet old ladies with?

The subject line is Medieval Faire. And, clicking it open, you see it’s addressed to a number of people. 

This note is to inform you that you have been accepted into the cast of the fifth annual summer medieval faire. Rehearsals for everyone are weekly and begin on June 4 at 8am at Lockwood Falls High School in the gymnasium. Do NOT be late. Please find your name and role from the list below. If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to email me or Will Ballard. 

P. Tovar.

That’s got to be the most joyless “you got the job” email you think you’ve ever seen. Sure, it’s to the point, but can he not use some enthusiasm for once? You see your name below Cassie’s — role, tavern wench. Below your name is Sarah’s, also a tavern wench. And that’s it for the tavern by the looks of things. Unless there’s others that have yet to be confirmed. Or maybe there’s volunteers? Two people seems to be not enough to serve drinks to all the customers that will make their way through. Even on slow nights at the pub you used to work at, you never had fewer than four staff on. 

There’s a number of volunteers at the bottom of the list, so hopefully some of them are allotted to you and Sarah because otherwise it’s going to feel a lot more like work than Sarah and Cassie both said it would feel like. 

You read over the email again, certain the warning against lateness is directed at you. Asshole. At least your niece got in. That’s the important part, that she has fun. 

Getting up from the couch where you had been looking at job postings in a purely hypothetical manner (more for when Tess is more mobile and back on her feet), you check on dinner that’s cooking in the slow cooker — mac and cheese — before looking at your phone for the time; you still have fifteen minutes before having to go pick up Tess at her physical therapy appointment. You’ve prepared a nest for your sister on her bed for optimal comfort — Percocet and water bottle at the ready on her night table in case she needs it. 

Cassie’s due back from school at around the same time that you and Tess will be getting back from her physical therapy appointment. Since it’s almost the end of the school year, it’s crunch time for Cassie. Studying for finals, final assignments, all the fun stuff about school that you absolutely do not miss. Cassie’s a good student, though, on top of everything. You don’t know where she gets it from. Neither you nor Tess were ever ahead of schedule in school, so Cassie must come by it naturally. 

You’re not looking forward to a solid two and a half months of early weekend morning wakeups. Weekends are your sleep-in mornings. Where you roll out of bed at nine a.m. or later. To be honest, you’re surprised that a teenager is doing this willingly. But Cassie tells you it’s worth it. You’ll see about that. 

The alarm on your phone goes off, indicating that it’s time to go pick up Tess. It’s her third physical therapy appointment; it’s been kicking her ass, but in a good way. The therapist is optimistic for a full recovery; your sister was lucky, he said. The break had been clean. 

You drive across the town that you grew up in, the town you never thought you’d relocate to again. Not much has changed in the years since you left, for what you thought was for good. The only difference is that your parents had retired to Florida five years ago. 

Tess is sitting down in the waiting room when you arrive, a slightly pained expression on her face, mixed with utter exhaustion. 

“How’d it go?” you ask as you help her to your car. She grimaces as she buckles herself in.

“Painful. I’ll be glad when I don’t have to come here anymore.” Tess yawns.

“Did the doc give a timeline for when the boot can come off?” Your sister’s been chomping at the bit for the removal of the boot cast since it was first put on. 

Tess shakes her head. “No. Not really.” She sighs. “I don’t think they want to get my hopes up with a false promise.” 

It’s a mostly quiet car ride home; Tess is too worn out to contribute much to the conversation. “I got the part of bar wench,” you tell her. “Cassie’s wonderful and totally not grumpy teacher emailed me today.” 

Tess manages a smile; you’d told her all about Pero Tovar, both after the interview and after the information meeting. Both tirades had been punctuated with huffy sighs and rolled eyes and over exaggerated hand gestures, all on your part. Tess had just sat there, bemused by your passionate feelings towards Cassie’s history teacher. “Don’t contain your enthusiasm for my benefit,” Tess quips. “Try to keep some for Cassie, though.” 

You roll your eyes as you turn onto your street. “He’s just so…” You pause, thinking for the right word.

“Cantankerous? Annoying? Rude? Grumpy? Peevish? Assaholic? Another word that you didn’t use the last time you talked about him?” Tess offers with a smirk.

Pulling into the driveway, you offer her a withering glance as you put the car in park. “Very funny.” 

Cassie is just unlocking the door as you arrive, the timing could not be better. She turns to you with a grin. “Did you get the email from Mr. Tovar?!” she squeals. “We got in! And I’m a lady-in-waiting to Mrs. Garin!” 

You have to pause to remember who that is, a lot of new names and faces swirling in your mind. She comes to you; Mrs. Garin is the petite woman with long dark hair that Pero had talked to at the end of the information session. She’s playing the queen if you remember correctly. You think her name is Lin-Mae. “I did. Pretty exciting isn’t it, kid?” 

Cassie nods, her beam still plastered to her face. As always, her enthusiasm is contagious. You have to remember why you’re doing this. For her. “Can we watch Snow White and the Huntsman tonight?” An odd topic change if ever there was one. “Or maybe some episodes of Downton Abbey? Mr. Ballard and Mr. Tovar said we have to practice our accents.” 

Tess jumps in. “What about your homework? Any assignments left to do?” 

Cassie shakes her head. “Nope. I handed in the last one today. I have to prep for a history presentation but that isn’t until Monday.” She looks a little nervous, recalling what you told her about what Tovar said and you have another flare of annoyance at him that you try to hide.

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll make sure you have it down pat. Your mom and I will be your practice audience,” you reassure her. “But for tonight, mac and cheese and Downton Abbey. On one condition: we watch the Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe as part of our research. It’s close to the time period we’re recreating.”

Cassie tries to hide a smirk. “You mean, the one with Oscar Isaac?” 

Busted.

 On Saturday at stupid o’clock, you pull yourself out of bed after pressing snooze as many times as possible without being late. For some ungodly reason, Cassie is bright eyed and bushy tailed when she meets you downstairs in the kitchen. Tess is still asleep. 

“I think we’re choosing our faire names today,” she says. You yawn again before grunting an unintelligible answer, your motions done by rote. 

Once you’ve had your first coffee, you’re more awake — or at least more willing to pretend you’re awake. You make another one for the road, topping up your tall travel mug. For the first time in a very long while, perhaps ever, you and Cassie are the first to arrive besides Pero and Will Ballard. 

Pero shoots you a look of incredulity. You return it with a questioning glare of your own, as if to say “what?” 

People begin to file in, a slow trickle at first and then a flood of them. It’s a smaller group than last time, since not everyone made the cut. Given how Pero seems to think you can do no right, you’re surprised you made the cut. 

He calls for attention at precisely 7:59:59 a.m. “Let us not waste time in retreading old ground. You all know who Will and Lin and I are and who we are playing. Let us instead go around the room. Introduce yourself using your real name, your chosen Faire name, and your Faire role.” He nods at Sarah to start.

“All right, hi everyone. I’m Sarah Bradford. Most of you know me already. I’ve been with the Faire since the beginning. As always, if you want to find me, I’ll be in the tavern serving drinks as Matilda.” 

Will Ballard nods a welcome back to her. Pero just gives a curt nod in approval. It’s clearly old hat for the two of them at this point; Sarah — Matilda, rather — isn’t introducing herself for Pero’s sake, except perhaps to confirm that she’s using the same name for Faire as she always has. 

You look down at the list of names clutched in your fingers as you listen absently to the others introducing themselves, first with their real names and then their Faire names. Cassie speaks beside you. “I’m Cassie Miller. Um, this is my first year in Faire —”

“Could you speak up a little bit?” asks Pero, not unkindly. 

Cassie nods. “And I’m a lady-in-waiting to her Majesty. And I was wondering if my name could be Clara?” 

“I don’t see why not,” Pero agrees. 

There’s a long pause and then you realize it’s your turn. “Oh. Hi.” You introduce yourself with a smile that has too many teeth, giving a wave that looks ridiculous. Sarah, already a good friend, gives a wave back. “Ummm. This is my first year doing this. I’m going to be a tavern wench with Sarah.” 

“Matilda,” corrects Pero as if you’re stupid. 

“Right, yes. Matilda. Sorry.” 

If Pero stares at you any harder, he’s going to burn a hole in your forehead. “And what’s your name, my dear?” he asks, the use of my dear almost mocking; you ignore it. You say your name and Pero sighs in frustration. “No. Not your real name, your Faire name.” 

“Oh, right.” You almost feel small in his presence. Looking down at the list of names to buy yourself a few seconds of time, you say the first one that crosses your field of vision. It’s a variation of your real name. Sarah hides a grin. Pero repeats it, almost disbelievingly, his voice flat. You can practically feel the tension in the room, all the fun sucked out as soon as he makes clear his disapproval. 

“Yes,” you say, with more confidence than you feel. “It’s period appropriate and I’ll be sure to remember it and respond to it.”   

There’s another eye-roll from Pero. “Glad to see you’ve given a lot of thought and effort,” he drawls flatly. You open your mouth to retort, but he’s moved on to the person standing next to you, evident that you aren’t worth his time or energy. 

Once everyone’s introduced themselves, you make your way over to Sarah, Cassie finding her friends. “Hey,” she says, your Faire name said teasingly. But her expression changes from teasing to one of concern when she sees your grimace. “What is it? Is it Pero again? Don’t listen to him; your Faire name is perfectly fine. He’s just a killjoy,” she says this part loud enough for him to hear. He pauses for a moment as everyone sits down on the mats on the floor for him to give his first accuracy lesson, but makes no other indication that he’s heard. As you sit down on a mat next to Sarah, he shoots you a glance that you miss but Sarah does not. She meets his gaze with a questioning one of her own as if to say “what’s up with you?”

The next few weeks are a crash course in medieval history. It’s all old information, given that history — specifically medieval — was your minor in college. So what if you scrolled on your phone, making arrangements and putting Tess’s appointment times into your calendar while Pero or Will Ballard discussed something that you had written papers and exams on? It doesn’t matter. No one’s going to quiz you while you’re serving them drinks. 

Your accent is more on the side of Eliza Doolittle than Lady Mary Crawley. But it works. And it’s as good as it’s going to get. You and Cassie and Sarah have full conversations using your Faire names in your accents to keep up the routine of it. 

After week four of mostly irrelevant-to-you history lessons, it’s time for costume fitting. Sarah brings a bundle of what look like bedsheets. You lift an eyebrow. “I thought I gave you my measurements?” you ask. 

“You did. Just wait until I lace it all together. You’re going to look great. Wine red or blue?” she asks. 

You look at the colourful fabric. “Ummm… Wine red, I guess.”

“Excellent choice.” Her own dress is green. Across the way, you see Cassie with the other nobility cast members; Lin-Mae is helping her into her own dress, a periwinkle thing. You put on the pieces of fabric as Sarah instructs you to. You’re still swimming in them when you’ve put on all of them. “Now comes the fun part. I would say you’ll get used to it, but, well…” She tugs on the laces.

“Jesus, Sarah!” you grumble.

“Who’s Sarah?” she asks.

Right. You’re supposed to be using the Faire names. “Sorry. Matilda.” 

Just as the dress is starting to have some shape to it, Pero Tovar chooses that moment to come inspect things. 

“How are things over here?” he asks. 

“Just peachy,” you say under your breath. 

He inspects you for a long moment, looking for any defect or thing out of place. Instead of feeling like a bug under a microscope this time around, you defiantly look right back at him. Checking him for any defect or out-of-place thing. He’s let his hair grow a bit, his beard more defined than it had been when you first met him. 

Usually he’s so well put together, but today he looks like he just rolled out of bed. You lift an eyebrow at his slovenly appearance. But, much to your chagrin, he’s still handsome as ever, even when he’s looking more like a slob than you thought you would ever see. You know part of the appearance is for his role of Captain Bastian. You wonder if he and the person playing Gideon are doing more practice after this.

“Everything’s finalized?” he asks. 

Sarah confirms that it is. “Yep. Matilda’s been my Faire name for five years, I’m not changing it now. William gave it to me.” 

The ghost of a smile quirks on Pero’s face; it’s the closest thing you’ve seen to a real smile on him. You find you want to see what a true-blue smile looks like coming from Pero Tovar. You’re sure, though you don’t know why, it would be like the sun coming out on a cloudy day. Jeez. Where did that come from? you ask yourself.  “I know he did,” Pero murmurs. He turns to you, his imitation of a smile gone by the time he’s facing you. “And you?” 

Trying to catch your breath but quickly realizing that it will be fighting a losing battle when wearing this getup so tightly, you say, “Yeah, everything’s fine.” 

He gives you another quick once-over. You can’t tell if he likes you in the dress or not. “Still keeping the name?” he asks, still inexplicably annoyed at your name selection. 

“Yep,” you intone dryly, not bothering to hide your annoyance at his own annoyance; when Sarah and the others had mentioned the name, it had been in a fun, teasing, ribbing kind of way. Pero just sounds as he always does with you. Annoyed. To your surprise, though perhaps it shouldn’t be given who he is, Pero practically snarls at you. 

“Come with me. I need to talk to you,” he spits before turning on his heel and quite literally storming out of the auditorium. 

“What is your problem?” you ask once you’ve reached an alcove for privacy. “You’re more tightly laced than I am and I’m the one wearing a corset.”

Pero actually rolls his eyes. “Are you taking any of this seriously at all?” he demands. 

“What?” you ask. “Of course I—”

“It does not seem that way to me. You clearly don’t give a shit about any of this. From the name you chose to your attitude to the way you don’t pay any attention. You spend more time scrolling your phone than listening.” 

“Okay, listen,” you manage to cut in. “I don’t know what your deal is, but you’ve been making me feel very unwelcome from the very fucking beginning. It’s just a name, okay? I know it’s not the most creative, I know that. But it’s period, I know it, I’m going to respond to it. Do you know where I currently live?” You don’t give him the time to respond, not even knowing why you’re going to tell him all this. “I live in my sister’s guest room. Everything I do these days is either for my sister or my niece. I’m on-call all the time, ready at the drop of a hat. That’s why I’m on my phone all the fucking time, so I can make sure my schedule is clear to do this, making sure that I have all her doctor’s appointments and physical therapy time in my calendar because guess who’s the chauffeur for the time being? Me.” You’re not complaining, you’d do anything for your sister and her daughter, but Pero doesn’t understand just how thinly stretched you are sometimes. “I know all this shit already, backwards and forwards. Because guess what? Not only am I here every fucking weekend on time, but medieval studies was my minor in college. I’m doing this as a way to support my niece who is having the time of her life doing this, so she can get her mind off worrying about her mom, because she’s passionate about this and I want to foster that passion even if it means giving up my weekends to do this and having to deal with you and your grouchy ass; I’m doing this to give Tess some space while she heals so we’re not always on top of each other — it isn’t a big house. I don’t know what your problem is with me, or why you seem to want me to quit, but I’m not going to, so you can give up your little crusade against me. If Cassie stays, then so do I. My internal organs are currently in a death grip in this getup and will be for six weeks. If none of what I just told you  indicates that I’m taking this seriously I don’t know what else to tell you. And another thing; if I go, you’re down half your barmaids. So I’m actually doing Sarah and you a favour by not dropppng out, even when you make it so fucking tempting.” You fix Pero’s hard glare with one of your own, refusing to break eye contact. You mean business, refusing to be cowed by this man. If he doesn’t respect you, you’re going to damn well make him.

Pero’s eyes flare and he holds your gaze for a long minute in a staring contest, a game of  chicken, both of you unwilling to be the first one to flinch. Eventually, though, after a long minute of staring at each other, his jaw set and his brow furrowed, Pero is the first one to look away; your diatribe seems to have set in and his face softens, softer than you’ve ever seen it before and likely softer than you’ll see it again. 

“Family is important,” he murmurs, his voice softer than you’ve ever heard it before, softer than you’ll likely hear it again. He has a faraway look on his face for a second before he remembers where he is. “It’s fine; you’re fine,” he says. It isn’t quite the ringing approval that you were half-expecting, but from Pero it’s practically high praise. And then he says the second most shocking thing all day. “I’m sorry.” 

Wait, what? You blink, not quite believing your ears. Surely you’ve stepped into Wonderland if you’re hearing Pero Tovar apologize. “What?” you sputter. 

Pero sighs, his jaw setting again. This is clearly a difficult topic of discussion for Pero. “This time of year is hard for me. Especially this year because…” He sighs again, changing his mind. “It doesn’t matter. But it is not fair that I have been taking it out on you.”

“No, it isn’t fair,” you can’t help but say, almost reproachfully. “But I appreciate you saying it. Thank you.” 

He gives you one last lingering look, a look you can’t quite put your finger on, and then he lets you go in a shared baffled silence. Sarah shoots you a questioning glance as you return to the auditorium, but you don’t say anything pertaining to your, quite frankly, bizarre interaction with Pero just now.

“Is he always like that?” you ask Sarah as she unlaces your dress enough for you to slip out of it, leaving you in your casual street clothes underneath; you neatly fold the bedsheet that is a dress and tuck it into your bag. “So uptight and intense?” 

Sarah shrugs. “He’s always been intense, but you seem to bring it out in him.” 

“Tovar just needs to get laid,” says a tall, burly guy coming up next to you. Dan, you think his name is. He’s playing Gideon, the lawman who is Tovar’s enemy in the context of the Faire. You snort at his assessment. “It’s true, the man’s practically been living like a monk for the past four years. And no, Daisy doesn’t count; they lasted all of five minutes,” he says when Sarah opens her mouth to protest. “He just needs to get laid,” he repeats, “might let out some of that pent up tension he’s got.”

Sarah pouts. “You guys need to be nicer to Pero,” she says, more to Dan than you. “You know it’s hard on him. He hasn’t been the same since William’s been gone.” 

You don’t know who this William is, or why he left, but whoever he is, he’s clearly important to the bunch of them. Though you fail to see what his leaving town has to do with anything.

“I promise, Pero will grow on you. Just give him time and get to know him and you’ll see, he’s just a big softie,” Sarah assures you again. 

You suppose you’re just going to have to take her word for it, even if Dan doesn’t seem to share her conviction. As you glance in Pero’s direction, you see that he’s chatting with a couple of other cast mates. You don’t know what troubles you more: the fact that he doesn’t deem you worthy to share his friendship with, or that it bothers you as much as it does.

I watched Crimson Peak recently and saw another post here asking you about it, so since I'm new to this, I'm also going to do the same if thats ok.

I had almost no clue about what i was going to watch, except for the fact that Thomas (aka Tom Hiddleston) is in a relationship with his weird sister, so that didn't really come as a surprise. The way the movie escalated had so many contradictions, Edith's pureness versus the sickening situation that grew in Thomas' family. It bothered me a whole evening how I couldn't make out a satisfying explanation or message this movie wanted to express. I mean other than discovering the truth behind the mystery and empathising with Tom Hiddleston's character. Was that really it? A horror movie having fun with how much a human's boundaries can be stretched? I mean, I liked the movie, at least i thought it was horrifyingly beautiful before it started being violent. That kind of left me with a bitter feeling.

So my question is, could the actual plot twist of the movie be that the WHOLE movie from the moment Thomas appeared was just Edith's imagination? Edith wanted to write a ghost novel, but got rejected because of the lack of romance in it. The existence of the ghosts wasn't really explained in the movie and i know the house in England is supposed to be cursed, but the ghost Edith sees in her own house in the US didn't really make sense. In a love scene, Edith mentions how her characters talk to her or something, she says how personal writing is to her anyway. So could she have come up with everything? And what we're seeing is her imagination, the improved version of her turned down novel? Because for a horror movie there was quite a lot of complicated relationships going on. I don't know, does that idea sound alright? Btw i had expected Thomas wouldn't make it alive through the end, but his death scene was so shocking, i had to pause to process it, it was so sad what he was made to do and how he ended up punished for trying to do the good thing even under such conditions.

Personally, I don't think it has a moral or message- not all stories do. It's sort of, to be meme-y about it, "Wouldn't This Be Fucked Up? with Guillermo Del Toro." I think there are a lot of interesting themes to consider, though, including:

Love as a constructive vs. destructive force (Thomas and Lucille- yes, both of them, her by action and him by willful inaction -did horrible things for love of each other. Thomas loves Edith, and both drags her nearly to her death AND ultimately saves her because of it. Edith and Alan love each other platonically, and save/fight for each other- even as loving Edith gets Alan serious injured. Carter loves Edith, but his decision to shelter her dooms him and almost her too. Etc.)

Generational trauma (the Sharpes became Like This because of their parents' abuse, but have now turned abusers themselves even as they try to make their lives better)

Not trusting appearances (on a pretty basic level- the ghosts look scary but are mostly helpful; Edith looks sweet and delicate but will not hesitate to Shovel A Bitch if necessary)

Changing roles of women and feminine ideals at the turn of the 20th century. this I really want to write an essay about, so I'll leave it at that

Why Are We So Inclined To Forgive Thomas More Readily Than Lucille When, All Things Considered, He's Really Not That Much Better? (Sure, he saved Edith and Alan, but he's never bestirred himself for the other innocents they've slaughtered. And why did he bring a woman he at least liked into all this, anyway? Not to mention making and serving the first pot of poisoned tea Edith drank.)

(seriously if you get into the character bios Del Toro wrote for the actors during filming and later posted on his Twitter, Thomas' Certified Rancidness shines even more. He gave no kind of damn about his first three wives' deaths, found and lured Enola himself with no input from Lucille, and was overjoyed when he got Lucille pregnant. I love the man but he is a poor little meow meow in every sense)

I recommend to stop going by bios and word of god that's actually inaccurate and contradictory instead of what's actually in the games themselves for multiple reasons when it comes to Eggman. I never put the basis of anything I believe or analyze about Eggman be in stuff I've seen from bios, unless I can point to specific dialogue, scenes, and actions of Eggman's and say "yeah, that definitely reflects what it says in the bio"

but y'all say stuff like "one bio from about 30 years ago said Eggman can't tell right from wrong!" even though he specifically calls himself, his creations, and his actions "evil" in the actual games all the time. his SA2 theme is also all about acknowledging that he's the enemy and builds things to cause destruction. he does lies, manipulation, and propaganda because he knows what he does is wrong and that being truthful about his intentions isn't going to work like they would if they were genuinely from goodness in his heart but they're not, it's from selfishness, ego, and evil

and also "the Heroes manual said he was a feminist!" thing that people bring up a lot when once again, this is from a bio 20 years ago which had absolutely no mention in the original JP manual to base it on (no, it didn't even say he was a womanizer in the JP version BUT-), Eggman has actually been sexist in a game since Heroes instead (Rush), and they chose him to be the character who represents King Shahryar in Secret Rings and if you know you know about the 1001 Arabians Nights and I feel there's a high chance they knew exactly what they were doing with that with all else considered

and like yeah this might not be very pleasant stuff for y'all to learn and accept about him but he's a bad guy and he does bad things so I can understand why they made these decisions for his character and I'm just going by what is shown to me in the games alone. and acting like he's not so bad or even a good role model that we should follow leaves a bad taste in my mouth when considering what he does in the actual games in comparison. and these are just a couple of Eggman examples, there are many times where similar can apply to many different things

the game canon and actual games themselves will always tell/show you all you need to know about the stories and their characters and who they are and it doesn't need to be more complicated than that. especially because misinformation can even exist in official sources, such as in bios and even from creators/writers when it comes to them attempting to comment on something that they didn't actually write themselves or have a creative hand in directly. if it doesn't match the game canon, it doesn't hold up

this is how I go about things and I recommend it because it avoids a lot of confusion and complication. Eggman is a simple and static but entertaining and interesting character at the same time and that's the beauty of it all. everything we need to know is there to see in the games, and it's genuinely fun to dive in, analyze, and connect the dots to understand how well put together and consistent he is as a character and how that doesn't need to change at all and how it doesn't even need to be deeper than that

Small Introduction:

Hey there! I have done many iterations of this and honestly I just miss it! I hope you all will take the time to read this over as i spent a lot of time on this and it's not fun when people don't read everything.

Plot:

This does go chronologically through Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts and the struggles he deals with as well as his friends and enemies at school. But not only will we be following Harry Potter but some other characters.

My main character, Catalina Thorne, has gone through quite a lot. Not by any means as much as Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. But she has dealt with things her classmates and friends could scarcely ever go through. She had to watch her life unfold as a lie and had to lie about the true death of her family. She has to keep a secret of the family safe. The one person she shouldn't trust her secret to is the son of a death eater. But Catalina, the shy sweet innocent girl that she plays, goes and gets a crush on the worst person she can, Draco Malfoy. Can she manage to keep her family secret when her boyfriend's family is one of the darkest wizarding families? Find out!

Rules:

1. Please make sure you know Wizarding World lore and background. I will make a channel for information if anyone has any questions.

2. Sexual activities must happen in a private channel and with the proper procedures. The students can only do this if you are in year 5. Younger years are allowed to do hand holding and kissing and the like.

ok finally one good update that you can put a read more on posts in the app like you don't need to see this yessss

anyway i watched la piscine and face to face yesterday bc i had a realization recently that when i was binge watching the romy filmography and during that i've read her biography it really made me lose all motivation to watch la piscine in particular so i skipped just that one and when i was doing the same w the gian maria filmography and read his bio also the same thing happened w face to face jsvshwnjs. and it was such a funny connection to make so i was like what if... i watched these after all, back to back, even though i still don't care about either films? like the line of thought was that bc of this experiment it would make the films at least a little bit interesting. like two negatives making a positive. well did the films turn out to be good? no they were fucking annoying i was right all along. was making myself watch two films that i was sure i would hate, funny? yes a bit.

although they varied a little like w face to face i knew it'd be a blatant didactic eye rolling moment and in the first place i didn't want to watch bc in the bio they say almost a comical amount of times how much he hated doing these westerns and i was like fine fine i won't watch any more of them then. on this note there's almost something sad about reading the letterboxd reviews calling this his best performance but what can you do. and well the film in question was not very good yes. rather annoying i would argue. the way it was put together was kind of sending me like the unbelievable dialogue, gian maria blue eyes moment (i was very hurt by that) tomas milian in an absurd wig leading the people out of the desert jshzvsubsjzjsjs uh purgatory city? random sex crazed underage girl who i think was supposed to be the mary magdalene of the group?gian maria fascist speech? him eating those weird little outfits up? so it had the potential to be trashy fun but it was too much of a mess that it became kind of a drag. but i won't lie looking back it's almost a fun film in its own bizarre way. in a sense a two star classic

but what was more enraging actually was la piscine bc i was expecting a lot of bad things (namely the presence of the lead actor in question hence my reason for not watching it before. like i really don't care to see them together. at least in christine there was jean claude brialy camping it up and in the assassination of... uh. there was richard burton also. camping it up. anyway.) but the final straw was not giving romy enough screen time like are we out of our minds. like yes the (barely existent) plot was annoying, the characters made no sense, the dialogue was verging on terrible, i only care about 2 people out of the 4 in here, but i suspected all that. and to think even in her limited screentime she tried her best and there is that confrontation at dinner scene where i was like yesss finally go give us everything queen but then we're back to alain delon staring at nothing with a nondescript expression. maurice ronet at least tried to do something, i like his performances and he had a good chemistry w romy in all their films. but people always have to hype up untalented people so tragic. and like it's literally miserable that this is one of romy's more famous roles like this is not all that she can give.... the people need to wake up. eh. also i really don't get why this film has so many remakes like what reason is there to watch besides the cast (ehhh) and the late 60s vibes. well one star for romy being cute but otherwise this was. torturous!

all in all wasn't really worth it that much but at least it reinforced in me what i already knew. and we must take all the little scraps of entertainment while we can i suppose. this was me to myself while watching these

Bio - A dryad??? Maybe??? Faer tree is in the wanderer's nest, and fun fact: it's a fiddle leaf fig. (And there is some dark stuff you can find about those houseplants). Fae is absent-minded and overthinks a lot. The others are concerned about faer habit of staring. Fae also tells morbid stories! Kamari is concerned about how dark they are! But telling morbid stories to Kamari beneath faer tree are the happiest memories fae has, before, you know, fae ruined all of it. In fact, storytelling is how fae processes the world, so fae uses a story metaphor for everything, since 'reality' is hard to decipher.

Basically: Reality sounded better in faer head.

Ethnicity: Fiddle leaf figs come from Africa, although in Trinity Hollow, non-natives are just known as "planted fairies". They don't tend to do as well. And Anuli doesn't have a tree to begin with... so that will lead to issues.

Fae also will put things in faer roots (like dead leaves) or run faer fingers through faer roots to relax faer thoughts. Anuli also needs physical reminders that events have happened are weren't a story fae made up. The scars a good reminder, so fae will rub faer fingers over them. Fae overshares more to strangers than to fairies fae knows.

Hi! I saw ur vent post and like, I get it. Being trans myself makes me question my place in enforcing traditional gender roles a lot. You don't have to transition to a "man's man" and be dysphoric to be trans. You don't have to be masculine to identify as trans. I know there are silly memes of "how I look with he/him in my bio" but it's true. Gender is a construct. It's the same reason people needlessly gender feelings and actions like whatever the hell girl dinner is supposed to be. I can't personally decide how I feel about that one lol.

Sometimes I mourn not having a "boyhood" but what does boyhood mean? Playing outside in the mud and videos games and nerf wars and wrestling with neighbors and cousins? Helping your dad work on cars and fix things around the house? I had all that. Being raised a girl never stopped that. Other kids never treated me any different than the cis boys I was growing up with.

I think we all need to be less binary about everything. You don't have to medically transition to be trans. You don't have to be a trans MAN. You can be nonbinary. You can be trans and not label it beyond that. You can be exactly the way you are and be a man. It's all complicated and guilt-tripping, I get it. I sometimes feel guilty that I'm still scared of top surgery. I've been out 7 years and on HRT for 2. (And I could've started HRT so much sooner but I was afraid of that too, despite how badly I wanted it.) Being trans is such a journey, and everyone's is different. Everyone's pace is different. I used to hate seeing people transition quickly but it's because I was jealous of how sure they were.

Idk if this is helpful literally at all. Also, I'm not the definitive guide of how gender works!! I'm sure I could be picked apart for things I think incorrectly or am not critical enough of. Gender is what you want it to be. Cheers!

vanessa was raised by her single mother in a small beach-side cabin on the coast of the gulf of mexico. van never knew who her father was and honestly didn't care much or ever have any real questions about it. she was always realistic about it and didn't ever have any grand delusions about finding her father or thinking he'd come back to connect to her. (if he wanted to he would, he didn't)

her mother was an eccentric of sorts and always treated van as more of a best friend or tiny roommate than daughter. for better or worse, van grew up with a lot of freedom and was hell on wheels in her youth. eventually she ended up being homeschooled by her mother (which allowed her a lot of time to explore artistic expression) for most of her grade school years and attended the public high school when the time came.

while she received above average grades and a diploma, van skipped her high school graduation as she had already taken off out of town with her boyfriend (puppy love and first one ever). the two took his beat up car and made their way east, getting married in vegas on their way.

her husband was an aspiring actor and van helped as best she could for him to achieve that dream. while he went out on auditions she picked up odd jobs to try to cover rent. helped co-found the band 'submergence' with some friends during a pilot season in LA. after doing so much side hustle van wanted something that could just be fun and creative and hers and thats what the band was.

the band starting gaining traction at the same time as her husbands career. as the band was starting to gain momentum, he left soap acting and landed a popular netflix show. the same week the band got signed to a label her husband announced that he was leaving her for his co-star. since there was no prenup and he could afford better lawyers he essentially got everything and van landed on her ass

Hello darlings !!! This is Esme (21+, she/her) and I'm here with another kid (yeah, I know). Some of you might remember this muse from before (new name and face), but she's my baby and she has always belonged here in Infinite. 

There was a time when she was known as South Korea’s Little Sister, a child actress that was in a lot of dramas and was invited to many variety shows because she was cute and charming, and her quirkiness was adorable. But then she grew up and she wasn’t the cute girl anymore, so girl went and become an idol because it kinda just fell into her lap. She went with the flow not really knowing it was her father’s doing, but hey ignorance is bliss. 

But life taught her not everything's perfect. She's nothing like what people expect her to be when they see her. Once a happy and outgoing girl, she's now very closed off and shy, protecting herself from getting hurt again. The industry hasn't been kind to her, and it has made her wonder if a career as a singer and being part of a company that doesn't care about anything but money is what she really wants for her. Childhood

She was born under the first full moon of july, in a year when said month started and ended with one, which was supposed to be hopeful, but it only was the beginning of her parents' downfall.

Was raised by her dad, and in part her brother since he is eight years older than her.

Her dad is Cho Sungmin, a known actor both in movies and dramas.

He married a non-celebrity woman against everyone telling him not to, completely in love that he didn’t realize she only wanted to secure the bag. Of course, it all went to hell at some point.

Her parents got divorced when she was three, hasn't heard from her mom since then.

Although his dad went through a lot during the separation/divorce/all around mess, he always made sure Nari had a happy childhood.

Doted on from the moment she took her first breath, her father gave her everything she wanted. It was more out of the guilt he felt for being so busy and not around as he should. So there was nothing she could ever wish for that she wouldn’t get. Nari wanted to dance? There was a ballet teacher waiting for her the next day. She wanted to learn to play piano? There was a big one in the living room the very next morning. Money was never a problem in the Cho household, but it can’t really buy happiness and Nari, as grateful as she was, would have wanted to see her father and brother more often.

No surprise that, when a eleven-year-old Nari said she wanted to be an actress, her father got her a minor role in a drama.

Debuted as a child actress in 2007, a minor role in the drama Witch Yoo Hee.

Good student usually minded her own business, friendly at all times. All of it not to cause her father any problems.

In reality, and it’s something she still deals with, part of her always thinks that no matter what she does, she will never be as good as her brother. He is a popular idol from a popular group, then debuted as a soloist. People love him, seems like he has his life figured out, and their father is so proud. So she’s trying to follow the same steps and failing.

The thing is, his brother was a very much wanted child. Nari was her mother’s last chance to fix a broken marriage.

Bullying TW // But it wasn't perfect. She was the golden child around the people who loved her, but things at school were different.

Nari wasn't the pretty girl around, she wasn't popular, too shy, and spoke too quietly. Other girls made fun of her because of her being an actress and her family. And she didn't have many friends, she spent the breaks reading and studying.

Becoming a teenager didn't help, because as the other girls worried about their looks and what they wore, Nari worried about becoming the actress she dreamed of.

After many minor roles, she finally decided that she wanted a lead role, but it wasn't as easy. It didn't matter that she wanted it, and without her father's doing, she couldn't do it on her own.

She needed a manager and a company.

She got an audition for New Star Entertainment and ended up becoming a trainee instead. Of course, she got the audition and got accepted because her dad pulled some strings.

Deep down she knows it, or at least suspects it, but she always wants to believe that she got it on her own.

Debut

There was a part of her that thought she would ever really debut, that she would make it as a lead actress first.

Surprise, she was actually talented enough to be selected as the main vocalist for a new girl group.

She considered quitting, but anything was better than waiting for something that didn't seem to happen.

She was worried about how the other members would react, she knew people talked behind her back about how everything she had was thanks to her dad., but she found her home with them. They didn't care about any of that, but about the person she was.

Still, she kept that cheerful facade she had built, not wanting others to see her insecurities.

She doubted herself, her talent, and everything she did.

But being on the stage changed it if even for just a few minutes.

She was highly criticized at first for her voice, but people never wasted time saying she didn't have what it took to be a main vocalist.

But she trained her voice, worked hard, and practiced harder. Pushed herself to her limits and definitely got better. People always talked shit, but she gained a lot of confidence in herself.

Being part of a group with such loving and accepting girls helped her to get out of her shell, and she began socializing a lot more.

Slowly, that shy and quiet girl became such a ray of sunshine, someone who easily made friends everywhere she went.

She finally landed a lead role in 2016, Love in the Moonlight.

See, for a moment, she thought this was about her being a talented actress and that people were finally seeing that. It was really how pretty she was and how popular Flora was getting, so adding an idol to the drama would help ratings.

And so it became her life, her looks were more important than her talent and her hard work.

So it was like that - her voice wasn't enough to be a main vocalist and her talent as an actress wasn't enough to please people, all she got was the way she looked. It really affected the way she saw herself.

But she pushed and pushed, and tried to get roles that at least challenged her as an actress, and to be the best singer she could possibly be.

2018 (Death tw)

It was the most bittersweet year in Nari's life.

Whilst Tempted had a mixed reception in South Korea, it was well-received internationally. Nari ranked second in the list of the top 10 most talked about actors and actresses in South Korea. Despite the question of idol singers in lead roles, Nari was subsequently praised for her improvement and potential in acting, opening the door for her. It led her to get cast as the lead in the historical drama 100 Days My Prince.

It was a huge opportunity, and despite how busy Flora’s schedules were, Nari gave her best to be present for both.

Flora had become one of the biggest groups in the industry thanks to their hard work, catchy songs, and lovely personalities

Right after the incredible success of 'Yes or Yes', the girls were preparing for the repackage comeback when tragedy reached their life.

It was no secret how close the girls and all their families were, so when Silver's brother Eunwoo died in a car accident, the girls felt devastated by the news.

Nari was away at a location filming for the drama when she received the news, the manager in charge to look after her was the one who had to tell her. Still, she had to go out and finish her day before going back to Seoul.

As it should be, Silver went on hiatus to go home and be with her family, leaving the other girls to promote 'Best Thing I Ever Did', and their Japanese comeback.

Nari became the acting Leader, looking after the girls and the group in the best way she could, trying to stay strong for everyone. It was exhausting to be there for Flora and filming at the same time, but Nari knew she had no option.

It was no surprise when rumors took over social media, people wanting to know the real reason why Silver was on hiatus. All of them were upsetting, but it seemed that people enjoyed kicking them when they were already down.

Nari knew there was no special treatment in any way, but she had expected New Star to protect Silver's privacy, and instead, it seemed that their way to fix this was to force Silver to come back before she was ready so Flora didn't lose their popularity.

It was heartbreaking seeing Silver going through something so painful and still having to work so hard, to practice every day, forced to act like nothing was wrong. It made Nari sick, and for the first time, she saw the real industry and how rotten it was.

There was a shift in the Flora energy - Nari couldn't help but stop trusting their staff, to think there were always ill intentions behind their actions. It was a horrible way to live, but she couldn't change the way she felt.

Suddenly, she became too quiet, keeping to herself. She only spoke to the staff if she really had to, keeping her interactions for her members only.

People couldn't be trusted - no staff, no other idols, absolutely no person that was part of New Star deserved an ounce of their attention.

2019-2020

Mental health TW // Soon, the stress took the best of her. Nari often felt like she couldn't breathe, trapped in between the walls of the New Star building or even the Flora dorms.

It was her father who, worried, suggested she went to see a therapist. The company didn't seem too happy with it, afraid that the information would become public and Flora suffered another hit to their image. But her father wanted the best for her and still took her.

Nari was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, which lead her to take a break from acting for a while. Deciding that if she ever went back, she would do it for a project she truly wanted to do and with people she was comfortable with.

However, since Silver had already taken a six-month break in 2018, Nari wasn't allowed to take time off Flora’s schedule.

Her therapist suggested she found activities that kept her mind busy, and after she tried a few, Lego building and knitting were the ones that worked the best for her.

Nari received a script from a director she had worked with in the past. It wasn't a lead role, but an important character for the drama. Nari hesitated for a while before deciding to go back.

The great working environment and meeting so many new people made her remember why she loved acting. It was great for her, and for the first time in a while, she felt more herself.

Merger

If she has to be honest, she didn't care much about it. All companies are the same, and she still gets to be in Flora and perform. She didn't expect Infinite to be better than New Star, but she was with her girls.

It was difficult to see so many people she wasn't used to, feeling insecure and anxious. She tried her best, but Nari couldn't trust anyone.

This made it difficult, really, because she couldn't find it in herself to socialize with people.

For the most part of 2021, Nari did her job or was at the dorms.

The only major change was that she got her own apartment for privacy and to have a room completely for her Legos only.

Still, she decided to keep living with the girls in the Flora dorms.

Tour

Traveling the world with the girls is fun, but because of the tour she has missed great acting opportunities and that has been troubling her.

Sharing with so many people makes her anxious, she usually keeps to herself or her members. She's trying not to be noticed that much.

Nari has been slowly opening up, letting her true self be seen more often than before, but she still is very careful.

After almost a year of traveling, she had given herself the chance to open her mind and maybe try to get to know others.

It hasn't been easy, but it's been a big step to at least try to.

Present

Nari has been focusing on herself and healing.

she’s been working on a solo project, still not so sure about it.

Hoping for a good acting role after almost two years of no acting.

Despite how quiet and reserved she might seem, she's a ball of energy. If she's comfortable around you, she'll always be smiling.

She's actually quite funny if given the chance.

The clumsiest person you have ever known, but only off stage. When she’s on the stage, she transforms completely, she’s a whole different person who seems to know what she’s doing (spoiler alert, she doesn’t), and you can’t believe she’s the same person who fell backstage just a few minutes ago.

Big big fan of everyone, has albums and lightsticks, has gone to concerts, and collects photocards. But she won't say so.

If you’re her friend, she has probably knitted something for you. it’s her love language. Loves knitting and she does vlives just so the fans can see it.

She also absolutely loves eating and baking, but on tour, she hasn't had the chance to do it as often. She's always been in charge of feeding the Flora members, making sure they always have something to eat ready for them.

Nari wears her contacts all the time. But if she trusts you enough, you'll get to see her with big round glasses and hair in a messy bun.

She still doesn't trust any staff, they're all the same. And she doesn't trust people's intentions either.

Living like this is exhausting, and she often wonders if it's worth it.

She loves building legos and has a big collection, like huge.

People online are so mean, always judging her and saying awful things about her. She posts on instagram for their fans, but she is always afraid of reading the comments.

She always has dating rumors even for breathing too close to someone else, she's always dating a new person every three seconds and she hates it. Reason why she doesn't like being seen with others.

Which is crazy, because she doesn't really befriends people, and it's really all about how good she looks next to someone else.

She’s pretty nice, you just have to work past all the walls she has built around her to see it.

i recently understood why you dislike the strive story mode so much. i hadn't seen it since i usually stuck to the fighting game part of fg's, but after watching all 3 hours of it it somehow managed to completely sour me on happy chaos because he has barely a shred of the personality he has ingame. how did we learn less about him over the course of a 3 hour movie than in a single banger song that is close to 6 minutes long? he's so comically apathetic in the game, in story he just talks nonsense

I do appreciate Strive's use of character themes, partly because otherwise some characters would barely have any plot. I would say 'that's more than we got from Xrd,' but I realize in hindsight that in Xrd we also had the outtro quotes, and those could give a bit of personality to characters. Even for newcomers like Haehyun and Answer I feel like having victory lines gave them just as much if not more character depth, or at least were just kinda fun.

I know this may sound bitter, but the thought crossed my head after Strive's full release that 'huh, so they weren't just giving us nothing about Nagoriyuki in the previews outside of him being a samurai vampire because everything else is plot-important, it's because they literally gave him nothing else outside of that' (and I know he did play a role in the plot, but still)

Happy is an egregious example in that he not only has a significant chunk of his character put into his theme, but he is also a main character in the actual story mode yet comes off as shallower than a song. And even then it feels so incongruous looking between the song and the story. I know I've already ranted a lot about this and I'm sorry, but it really does make it feel like he's more of a plot device than a consistent character. It's like they specifically made a character to be 'chaos' so they could justify him doing anything the plot needed him to. I never thought I'd say this, but why does this character not act more like a theme song? The ideas of his theme and bio of constantly fluctuating his interests and goals does seem conceptually interesting, but in execution it's squandered so hard

What is your process for coming up with ocs, whether it be for the blog or in general?

[Admittedly, there isn’t much of a process? Or at least it’s hard to explain, haha.

Well, I say that, but then this got really long, so my explanation will be under the cut! But tldr; there isn’t much of a process my brain just comes up with things and I follow through those base ideas.]

[For this blog and other ocs I make that are based on a pre-existing media, I have the fun of having to interpret characters that are already there, but may not have been written with all the details fully put together. GtI is especially good at having characters that feel like fully fleshed out characters, but also leave a lot to interpretation. Or, a lot to interpret from memory, because sometimes, admittedly, I forget something about a character (like Munna helping you at the end of the game) but then it turns into something more interesting for me anyway (just because Munna helps you doesn’t mean it changes everything for you and her). For example, GtI!Partner is generally optimistic and friendly, has big dreams, but is also missing a bio family. Meeko thus gets all those traits, but I get to add more to flesh him out some more. He love giving hugs, he doesn’t really know his exact birthday, he’s a little bit claustrophobic (there’s your fun Meeko fact of the day), he loves the world and people in it so much despite how little he had to base that love off of for so long. Of course, I have some ocs that exist in this blog but do not have any explicit in-game counterparts, namely the five other humans I mentioned. Rather than expanding on pre-existing characters in this case, I’ve expanded on pre-existing concepts. We know there were other humans. We don’t know how many there were (even within the lore of this blog, the five mentioned ones, six including Linn, are not the only ones), nor do we really know what they were like. As Hydreigon goes over in this ask, each of the human characters I came up with were sort of selected for some core traits that I, and therefor Hydreigon, would think to be possibly good heroic traits. For their pokemon species, Jason, Steven, and Audrey defaulted to tepig, snivy, and axew as a nod to the other GtI hero and partner options. As for Becca and York, Becca got machop because it’s an old pmd hero option that I feel like everyone forgets about, and York got poochyena because I wanted to pick a pokemon that was not in gen 1 or 5, to shake things up a bit, and poochyena came to mind. It’s a pokemon I am fond of, and makes sense to be a pmd hero despite never having been one. The five of them have more to their characters that might get time to address in-universe, but we’ll have to see when we get there.

In general for making ocs through, I don’t have a better way to phrase it than just the vibes sometimes? If they’re for a story, I often think of the role I want them to play, or the concept, and expand from there, which is often where the vibe checking comes in. Answering questions like what are their goals? How do they interact with other characters? Are good to figure out early, in my experience, and then you start answering the “why’s?” and after that, the “then what’s?” For example, why does character A treat character B poorly? Depending on that answer, it could lead to what would make character A treat character B better? Does character B treat everyone poorly, or just character A? It’s a lot of asking yourself questions and figuring out the questions, whether that’s something your brain comes up with on your own, or whether you have to crack down and do some research.

It may just be another me being weird thing, since I know the way I do a lot of creative works is often an odd, roundabout way, so it’s hard to know what makes sense to others and what doesn’t, but I tend to let my passion for whatever my project is fuel me and just listen to what my instinctual ideas are for ocs. There are some things that will never get addressed in-universe in some of my stories, but just having them in mind helps me to figure out how those ocs may act in other situations (fun fact! Junior, i.e Kangaskhan’s kid in Galaxies Above, his father was an awful person and him and Kangaskhan are like the closest to divorced you can get in that setting, but it never comes up in the actual story!). To avoid making this post too much longer, I suppose, if you were looking for advice, just remember what role the characters serve in the story or in relation to other characters, but never just stop there, always have other ideas in the back of your pocket for them.]
