"Well, the dream house is already checked off and ironically I thought that would be the hardest one to do. Other than that, I think I'd like to write more music. Maybe dabble in a different sound for a little bit. I'd like to get married (to X, if I need to be specific) and then maybe start thinking about a baby or two when things feel right. "I'm adaptable. With my ex husband I kind of got used to just rolling over and sleeping in my own space, and that was fine. Then I had my single girl life for awhile so I got used to sleeping on my own -- I kind of enjoyed it even. With X it's a completely different story; man holds me like he thinks that there will be a chance that the rapture comes in the middle of the night and evaporates me. Van is taking a sip from her coffee as she observes Connor's reaction to her words, wrinkling her mouth to the side as she waits for his response.

She knows it's not her responsibility to repair the fractures that had been made during the deepest throes of Xavier's addiction -- truly, the only relationship that she had to worry about was her own.

But it killed her that X had lost Connor's friendship when it had been something so special; something that she had directly witnessed and also been a part of.

It seemed a waste to her to not at least try to test the waters.

"Well, you'd be welcome by me and my name is on the mortgage just as much as his," she tells him matter-of-factly, moving to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

"And you're my friend, and I want you to come to dinner at my home, and any issues the man of the house might have with it he will simply have to take it up with me."

He knew this would come up eventually, though he’d much prefer to continue talking about phallic flowers and seasonal allergies if it meant he could avoid it all together. He had heard rumblings that they had found a place and that they seemed to be doing pretty good, but things weren’t healed between him and X. 

At this point, he wondered if it ever would be. They were both too stubborn for their own good and too many things were said out of spite and anger. Things even Connor regretted. 

As much as he didn’t want to admit it, that divide even seemed to cause a slight rift in his friendship with Van. He saw her less these days and didn’t talk to her as much as he used to. He hated that, yet didn’t do anything to fix it. Typical Connor.

Itching the side of his nose with his index finger, Connor looked ahead at the flowers that once captured his interest and tried to think of how to respond. “That’s great,” he told her genuinely. He was happy for her, even if he worried about her. The pain Van had gone through in the past on X’s behalf was something not easily forgotten. But she seemed happy now, and that's all that really mattered to him. “I don’t know how welcome I’d be over there, though.”

Van lets out a laugh when Jordan advises her to keep an eye on X, nodding her head from side to side.

"Yeah, I can't blame them. But he knows what he's got."

And so did she, because simply catching his eyes from across the room made her feel enough to think she could glow from the inside out.

At her words, her attention turns completely to Jordan -- brows slightly furrowed in focus.

"I do like him," Van insists with a nod, "I just -- It's hard to get him to talk to me, you know? There's a wall up. And I don't want to force him to talk about things if he's not ready to. But any insights you have would be great -- I just want to be able to understand everything."

"Shut up." Jordan says in surprise, mouth agape while she looks at Vanessa. "I would have stolen his shit or hired a hitman." Maybe not to kill him but at least to leave him disfigured or something.

But maybe it was a teaching lesson to remember to always ask for a prenup.

how does your muse style their hair

"I'm the lowest maintenance with my hair, which I know is kind of hateful because people always ask about it and I wish I had more of a system of advice to follow. I've just never heat-treated it or dyed it, the most I ever really let them do at a salon is trim it. I don't even put very much product in it. I shower, I wash and condition it, I let it air dry, and that's pretty much it. I leave it down most of the time, but sometimes I'll braid it or throw it up into a bun if I don't want it to be too much of a hassle."
