Changbin layed next to you. Well, technically, above you. His head layed on your chest while his hands circled your waist. Even his leg was over yours.

He was still deep asleep, even though it was already past eight. It was his day off so he could sleep all day long. And he definitely deserved it.

Yesterday night, you two decided to go to a bar to dance and drink a bit. And if you are honest, you didn't thought that you'll be home late. But that wasn't so bad. It was also your day off.

The sun that perked through the curtains woke you up. As you saw your boyfriend laying on your chest, you couldn't help but chuckle.

Your short king loved to cuddle, especially because you were slightly taller than him, just a few inches.

But every time you cuddle, he demands to lay on top of you. Even in his sleep, he liked that. And you felt so safe in your strong boyfriends arms. He was like a big blanket that was thrown over you and brought you not only comfort but also warmth.

He was your personal heater. Whenever you cuddled, you never need an comforter.

In thoughts, you brushed through his curly black hair, detangling some strands.

In sleep, he sighed and snuggled even more up into you. You smiled and messaged his scalp.

You bought them a year ago when your boyfriend was on tour and you missed him so much. Via a video call, you showed them to him and he loved them. Sometimes, you need to fight for them because he wears them too.

In the bathroom, you brushed your teeth and used the toilet. Then, you decided on making breakfast.

You quickly re-entered the bedroom to throw over one of Changbin's hoodies and saw that he was still sleeping. Deeply, you inhaled his scent. It was like coming home. You made your way to the kitchen.

You chose to make some eggs with bacon. Without big noises, you pulled out a frying pan from a cabin. You waited till the pan was heated, then, you cracked the eggs and fried them.

Two strong arms circled around your waist and sneaked under the hoodie.

"You didn't come back" he complained and placed a feather light kiss on your neck.

"Sorry, wanted to make some breakfast" you answered and flipped the eggs.

"Smells amazing" he stated and caressed your sides. "You're wearing my hoodie" he added.

"Yeah, I was cold. Do you like it?"

"Of course, sweetie. But why do you choose a hoodie over me, your personal heater?" He exclaimed.

"It seemed that my personal heater was charging" you answered playfully and fried the Bacon.

"Fortunately I'm here now and can warm you up" he mumbled into the fabric of the hoodie. Even through the thick hoodie, you felt his comforting warmth. Just slightly, you leaned against the strong chest and enjoyed the moment.

"jay, it's alright" you mumbled against the back of his neck, squeezing his hand gently. he squeezed your hand but ignored you otherwise, sifting through the bright sweaters on display.

"jay-" you started again, but your boyfriend pulled out a cream-coloured cable-knit sweater, and put it against your chest. "i think this suits you, baby" he nods, (cause jay is the fashion king). you opened your mouth, but jay cut you off immediately. "i'll buy it for you babe". again, you made a sound of disapproval, and he stared at you, giving you the park jeonseong look. you glared at him back, and jay immediately sighed.

"fine then" he said, putting it back. "go meet me outside, baby. ill be back in a minute." you followed his commands, not wanting to start more quarrel, and a few minutes later, jay still hadn't returned.

you called him, still no reply. worried, you ran back inside, spotting him at the cashier, bags in both hands. "jongseong! is that all for me?!" you gasped. he stared at you again, frowning at himself.

"why, is it too little, baby?"

a simple walk was everything to you; just you in jungwon's hoodie, walking through snow-struck streets, admiring the lights.

"sweetheart, i can't believe im so hopelessly in love with you." you stopped the second your heart stopped. there was countless beautiful decorations all around you, but you couldn't keep your eyes off the prettiest thing in the area; your freaking boyfriend.

he smiled cheekily, flashing his signature smile. "y/n, why do you look like this is the first time i said it? is it really that shocking that your boyfriend loves you?" you pulled him in for a kiss on the cheek, feeling his mouth stretch into a grin.

as sunghoon led you onto the ice-skating ring, he already looked like a professional. "i'm so excited you're here!" he gasps, beaming. his smile was ten times bigger when he was on the ice; it was beautiful, so full, so happy. who could resist it? now that you were here, he couldn't be happier. soon a laugh also breezed out of your mouth as you watched him spin and twirl across the ice, also attaining gasps from on-watchers. "come on, y/n!" he shouted happily.

you nodded at him, but as soon as you stepped onto the ice, you slipped. gosh i'm so bad at sports, you thought, yet second later you were in sunghoon's arms, staring into his eyes.

"you don't know how to skate?!" he asked, laughing. you pouted at him, then he lifted you up. "come on, i'll teach you. i taught niki how to, you couldn't possibly be any worse?"

i couldn't learn this fast but soon you were gliding cross the ice, hand in hand with sunghoon. as he spun you around and you giggled, feeling so, so, so happy. then suddenly, hoon pulled you up to your ear and whispered against your lobe "merry christmas, y/n. i love you"

kim sunoo ♡ christmas karaoke

your "date" with sunoo already chaos; its was you, sunoo, enhypen ("i thought it was just going to be us two at your house!" "whats the fun in that?") and one karaoke machine.

jay and heesung turn on "jingle bell rock" and, with their arms wrapped around each other, sing it together with smiles. you make small talk with jake, but really, you were just feeling upset. all you wanted to do was to spend time with sunoo alone.

after a while, sunoo and sunghoon did a "sia" duet together, and you only spoke to him once before it when you forced him to eat. after they finished, sunoo whispered something to hoon, and a second later, the first jingles to "all i want for christmas" began to play.

he stared at you and smiled, a big, wide, sunoo smile then leant into the microphone. "this is for y/n" he giggled, and you felt your heart skip a beat. oh gods. you thought. you're dating one of the best singers in korea, aren't you? throughout the whole performance, you got goosebumps, and at the very end, he kissed you. "love you, y/n" he mouthed at you, and the whole crowd cheered. okay this was out of person but anyways

jake was missing layla during training once, so you offered to go with him to a dog cafe you saw on the internet. "lets call it a date!" jake said excitedly, his mouth forming his signature "O"

as you entered the cafe, you and jake were greeted energetically by a golden retriever, who lept onto jake with his jaws wide open. "hey baby" he cooed at the dog, making your stomach churn in reasons you didn't know why.

throughout the whole date, you continued to feel that way. gosh, are you jealous of a dog? you scolded yourself. jake seemed to be talking to everyone but you, smiling, patting, laughing. it felt as if the christmas spirit had washed out of the room the moment you stepped in. maybe you should just leave...

at that moment, jake came and sat next you, another dog snuggling at his lap.

"what's with sour face, princess?" he asked you. in fact, in the window's reflection, you looked like you had just ate two lemons. nontheless, you forced a smile and looked at jake again. "oh! nothing sweetheart!"

he pouted, and you couldn't resist his sad face. who could?

"seem's like the dogs have become your girlfriend" you joked. jake immediately stopped what he was doing and stared at you. "no, don't say that princess!" he said, then kissed your cheek. "your forever my baby, understood?" you smiled and took his hand. "understood, jake"

Leigh plays Tellius prt 15

It's the final chapter! I had Ike give his speech, because I love it, even if he's clearly uncomfortable giving it. I literally muttered, "you're doing great, sweetie" at this moment.

What a wild time for Ashnard to confess this. I'm surprised Bryce wasn't more upset by this, honestly, considering he was a loyal retainer to the last king for fifteen years. But I suppose it's possible that his loyalty was more for the post, rather than the man himself.

We never do learn much about the previous King of Daein. This amazing post theorizes that Ashnard was perhaps an illegitimate son of the king, which is why he was never mentioned in any talk of succession prior to the "plague" that killed off the rest of the royal family. I really like this theory, because it explains why Ashnard was so obsessed with strength over bloodlines.

I put Soren up against a dragon laguz, and he completely decimated it through a combination of crits and adepts. Then I felt really terrible afterwards, considering that Soren might have indirectly been the cause of him becoming feral, since it's possible that this was one of the dragon laguz that traveled with Rajaion to rescue Almedha and infant Soren.

As expected, Soren capped his magic before even reaching level 20, so I didn't have to use a spirit dust on him. Fantastic job, Soren!

Ilyana reached level 20 not too long afterwards. However, she was unable to cap magic and speed on her own, so I used both a spirit dust and a speedwing for her. Hopefully this makes part 1 of Radiant Dawn just a teensy tiny bit easier.

Unfortunately, Soren and Ilyana were the only two units I was able to get to level 20. I severely overestimated how much exp was available on this map. Even more frustrating, I got Jill all the way to level 19, but then I ran out of enemies to pit her against.

I very nearly got Mist to level 20, too, through using a physics staff to heal Ike. Unfortunately, I forgot to unequip Ike's ragnell and he defeated Ashnard with aether before I could get Mist all the way to level 20.

I unironically love Ashnard's dying words. There's no disappointment, no anger. He's just so happy to meet someone who proves to be a formidable opponent. I suppose he was getting bored. I suppose it makes war less thrilling when you wear invincible armor.

This reveal is sooooooo gooooooooood. I love Ena and Rajaion.

I wish Rajaion had survived. Unfortunately, they didn't make it very clear that he died, so when I first played this game, I thought he had survived until I played the sequel.

And that's it! The end progressed too quickly for me to take too many screenshots, but I did record who my top 5 units were:

Jill came in at 5th. No surprise there. I worked really hard, trying to get her to level 20. It's a shame I never did.

Soren was 4th. I'm a little sad he didn't rank higher, but I suppose it makes sense. Once he classed up into a sage, I mainly used him as a healer, since he was such a higher level than everyone else.

Rolf was 3rd. I'm also sad I didn't get him to level 20. He would have been so buffed with those transfer bonuses. Oh, well.

Ilyana was 2nd. Again unsurprising. She lagged behind for a while, but I managed to get her to level 20 with 4 capped stats, so all the extra effort paid off.

And of course Ike was in 1st place.

And that was Path of Radiance! I'm going to take a break to work on my Big Bang fic, but I am excited to get into Radiant Dawn. I wish I had gotten more characters to level 20. So far, I have Ike, Ilyana, Soren, and Ranulf all at level 20. Ike has capped 5 stats, Ilyana and Soren 4, and Ranulf only the 1. Perhaps I should have played on hard, so there would have been more reinforcements. Additionally, I could have farmed several bosses for extra exp.

Oh, well. Overall, I did manage to achieve all 5 of my goals. No one died, Ike and Soren are at an A rank, Ike and Ranulf at a B rank, Soren and Ilyana capped speed, and Ranulf capped strength.

Next time: we meet the Dawn Brigade!

A Clash of Kings - 69 Bran VII (pages 862-873)

Summer catches Bran up on the sack of Winterfell, so the team stops hiding in the crypts and splits the party for a road trip.

Chapter 69? !!! that's the funny number!!!

Yet as one smell drew them onward, others warned them back. He sniffed at the drifting smoke. Men, many men, many horses, and fire, fire, fire. No smell was more dangerous, not even the cold smell of iron, the stuff of man-claws and hardskin. The smoke and ash clouded his eyes, and in the sky he saw a great winged snake whose roar was a river of flame. He bared his teeth, but then the snake was gone. Behind the cliffs tall fires were eating up the stars.

Oh that sounds so apocalyptic. And in a way I suppose it kinda was a small apocalypse, Winterfell set aflame and razed. I love the way Summer refers to human stuff, "man-claws" and "hardskin" instead of swords and armour, it feels organic, not overly forced, which I know can be a bit of a balancing act between what an intelligent creature would know, versus what an animal would really understand and contextualize human things.

also, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the scene right? the one that people say "oh this is what Dany's vision meant re: a great beast taking wing and breathing fire"?

"From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire..."

I'm... not sure this is the moment, tbh. I dunno, something about the wording just doesn't go 'click' for me. Mostly because Summer is seeing it and and thinking 'snake' not 'beast' (the 'stone' part is understandable to leave out, regardless of if it's relevant or not) and I get that that is an incredibly strange thing to get caught up on but... given that we had wildfire pseudo-anthropomorphized by Davos as a demon, I just get the feeling it's more in line with that than with Dany's vision. Also that her vision called it shadow fire specifically...

I mean it could be the vision moment, I might just be reading it from the wrong angle, but ... *shrugs*

Heck, the vision might not be a single moment in the series but a repeating motif.

well now i kinda want to print off all the "prophecies" and paste 'em to my walls to use like a checklist. XD

It really has been all about Identity for the Stark siblings this book, about the loosing of self, or the threat of it anyway.

Also: warging is super dangerous. (Modern AUs, do you think they'd have little clinics and wards set up with stuff so Wargs could do their astral possession thing while their bodies are doing their best impersonation of a coma patient?)

Bran had to squint as the pitch began to burn, filling the world with orange glare. The light woke Rickon, who sat up yawning. When the shadows moved, it looked for an instant as if the dead were rising as well.

Nice. But not yet.

They need a red glass case for their torches if they're going to be down in the dark for so long. Red light is one of the best for doing dark cave tours, I went to one of the glow worm caves once, Arachnocampa glow worms, not firefly larvae glow worms, by the way (fun fact, glow worms of the Arachnocampa Genus are only found in like, 10? places world wide iirc, and they are all in Australia and New Zealand, and also they glow blue not yellow/green) and we did the tour with red light torches/flashlights, which allowed us to see everything after a small adjustment period, but the didn't spook the glow worms because many cave dwelling beasties cannot see the red light wave length, but also we didn't point the torches directly at them, they were plenty bright enough on their own. Anyway, because of the wavelength, red light can be used to see, without wrecking your night vision, and going from full dark to red light doesn't hurt your eyes as much as things in the orange, yellow or white light spectrum.

They stood in the shadow of the First Keep, or what remained of it. One whole side of the building had torn loose and fallen away. Stone and shattered gargoyles lay strewn across the yard. They fell just where I did, Bran thought when he saw them. Some of the gargoyles had broken into so many pieces it made him wonder how he was alive at all.

This feels symbolic, both in terms of Bran and Winterfell, but also like a call back to the dream of falling where all those other dreamers were pierced or shattered on the stony spikes below but Bran managed to fly.

Well, I'll say this for GRRM, he sure knows how to sucker-punch me last minute with these books.

I really like the hopeful tone in this, ("I'm not dead either.") not just for the future of Winterfell, but from Bran's personal arc, it feels like even though all this horrible stuff has happened, he's finally ready to take the first few steps out of the dark part of his recovery arc, and actually start mental and emotional recovery in regards to his fall.

Summary: You've been working at the palace for much of your adult life, under specific instructions from The King. That is to stay as far from the prince as you can manage and certainly not to speak to him. Above all, you are never allowed to tell him the truth about how you ended up here. Which is all easy enough until doing one nice thing for his little cousin gets you his attention and suddenly you're doing everything you can to keep the king's skeletons in your closet while Prince Namjoon keeps trying to open it. If you thought keeping the prince in the dark would be simple you're about to find out just how difficult the royals make your life.

You pace nervously in the kitchen as you recount for Yoongi everything that has happened with Namjoon since he confronted you about who you are.

"Okay okay wait I'm a bit confused. At this point what are we worried about? Annalise called off their wedding I mean- it's not your fault."

"Namjoon told his father the truth- at least I think he did. I don't know- it's been hours and there's been no word." You frown.

"Well no news is good news darling. Until you hear bad news what good does all this worrying do?" Yoongi frowns.

"I can't help it- Namjoon and Annalise are so sure that being in love is enough to solve everything and- my family's lives are at stake here. I'm a bit skeptical that love will protect them." You say.

"I understand that y/n but- the wedding's been called off and the prince seems determined to marry you-"

"All that time I spent telling him to forget about the girl in the meadow- somehow we got from there to him ready to abdicate if it meant he'd be able to marry me." You scoff.

"All those conversations didn't tell you enough about his devotion?" Yoongi quirks an eyebrow at you.

"I was so sure that with how angry he was when he learned the truth about me that he wouldn't- that we could move on from this ridiculousness of him being in love with me since then. Instead it seems that learning the truth has only made him more certain that we're some sort of fated pair." You shake your head.

"Well to be fair- you disappeared without a trace. It makes sense that he'd hold onto those feelings he had for you. He had nothing else. He's loved you since you were teenagers I mean- without closure it's not like he was going to just, move on from that?" Yoongi looks at you.

"Honestly yes. His marriage to Annalise was set before we even met, why wouldn't he move on?" You huff.

"Because that's not how love works." He chuckles at you.

"Responsibilities don't care about love."

"Well it's a good thing love doesn't care about responsibilities either then. If Namjoon could control it I think he would've chosen the less complicated way out."

"Who cares if he can control it? There are duties that a king must fulfil-"

"So he should be miserable for the sake of his duty?" Yoongi frowns.

"I don't know! I just- I've had to give up so much all because I dared to be friends with him and-"

"And now he's willing to give up everything to be with you." Yoongi tells you.

"Except I still have so much to lose." You shake your head.

"I'm sure the prince understands that but why are you so unwilling to give it a chance? Don't you both deserve happiness? All that you've given up- wouldn't it be nice to have some real joy? Why won't you open yourself to that possibility?"

"How selfish would it be- to risk my family because of the possibility of happiness?"

"Y/n- sweetie I love you and the way you care for other people is such an amazing part of your personality- why can't you care for yourself the same way? It's not selfish to want to be happy- and the prince will surely do whatever he can to make sure you don't lose any more than you already have." 

"Oh this is driving me mad. I need him to-"
