Stargazer, Moonweaver, Net
Hey, you. Yes, you. Have you ever wondered, hey, what would it look like if @five-rivers, @jackdaw-sprite, @seaglass-skies, @datawyrms, and @akela-nakamura all worked together on a fic for Phantasy Phest? No? Too specific? Well, if you had, it would look exactly like this fic here.

"Ohno. Oh, no, no no nooooooo."
The stars were bright tonight.
Danny could even see them from where he was at the edge of a large clearing, where the trees stopped to wreathe the base of a hill.
Unusually, Danny didn't care.
"Nooooo," he said again under his breath.
Danny pushed at the net again. It reeked of garlic and sage the same way his parents’ nets always did, and the cord was rough and knobbly between his fingers. They must have woven this one with something extra.
He needed to get out. But with his flashlight fallen somewhere he could barely see the net or where it might end.
His flashlight. Where was his flashlight? Danny crouched, and began to grope at the ground around him. It couldn't have rolled too far, right?
The net folded up into his face, scratchy and unexpected. Danny flinched back but kept going, moving his hands in a circle. They met dead leaves and earth, and more than once he touched slimy and wet things he hoped were slugs.
He didn't find anything that felt like a flashlight.
"Heck," said Danny.
He sat down on the ground. The damp seeped into his pants but at this point that was a distant concern.
Maybe he could just find the edge of the net. It was a net. It had an edge. And his parents weren't always great at traps.
Danny pulled the net hand over hand in one direction and stopped when he felt something thicker cross over an arm.
He groped at it. It felt like the edge. Or an edge. One side didn't have all the net stuff. With mounting relief he followed it with his fingers–and discovered that it was attached to an opening only about large enough to slip a hand through.
There wasn't a tie that he could feel.
He couldn't find any other holes in it.
The relief withered. He was caught, alone, in the dead of night, in one of his parents' stupid monster catching nets. Without a flashlight.
And his parents, at best, might find him in the morning.
"Heck," said Danny, again.
Then he remembered he was alone, deep in the woods in the middle of the night, and no one would hear him.
"Fuck."
If only, Danny thought a while later, he'd brought his pocket knife. Or literally any knife. Something sharp to cut through the ropes.
None of the rocks he could reach had worked, though that was probably a little because he still couldn't see much of anything. It was really hard to wear through rope when you were doing it with a rock, blind. And through a net.
He was cold. His butt was colder from sitting in the leaves earlier. He kind of wanted to do it again, as a measure of his suffering. He wanted to be home, dry, and warm even more.
Maybe he could just wait for morning. Maybe his parents would know the trap had gone off, and come to check it. Maybe they'd check it anyway. They were the town crackpots for a reason. They didn't just believe in fictional creatures, they did so enthusiastically and with the kind of prejudice that made them set net traps in the woods. For one of their own innocent children to get caught in when he was only trying to stargaze on a clear night before school started in a few weeks. See some constellations, spot a few meteors, maybe a handful of planets, that kind of thing.
Never mind that he’d maybe snuck out. Because he knew they’d freak out about him going into the woods alone. Because they believed in faeries.
Gosh, he hoped this didn't get back to Dash.
At least the stars were bright tonight.
He sighed and looked up, eyes automatically picking out familiar constellations.  The Big Dipper was easiest, although finding the rest of Ursa Major was less familiar.  All seven stars of Ursa Minor were easily visible, which again highlighted how good the seeing was. Then there were the other circumpolars.  Draco, Cepheus, Cassiopeia…  He could see the V of Andromeda, where it blended with Pegasus, and he could almost convince himself that–
An owl - he thought it was an owl - hooted somewhere nearby.  He jumped, which had the side effect of reminding him that, yes, he was still in a net.  He rubbed his shoulders and neck where they’d been rammed into the net.  Straining against rope shouldn’t have felt like running into a wall, but he supposed he did have his weight on the bottom of it.
But he soon had other things to worry about than his parents’ irrational net design.
(Seriously, why was there enough room to stand up in this net?  What were they even trying to catch?  At first, he’d thought he could just walk away, back to town, even inside the net, but it was tied to something.  Maybe one of the trees?)
Sounds started to rise up from all around the clearing.  First the high-pitched chirr of crickets, then croaking, buzzing, and chirping.  Small noises, from small things.
But with those small noises, Danny started to notice rustling and creaking and–  Was that a dog howling or a wolf?  Were there even any wolves here?  He remembered a unit in science last year where the teacher talked about wolves going extinct in some states.
The stars were bright tonight.  The woods around him?  Not so much.
“People spend nights outside all the time,” he said out loud.  The word probably would have been more impactful if they weren’t whispered.  “All the time.  People go camping and hiking and stuff for fun.”  Never mind that they were usually more prepared to do so than Danny currently was.  And that most of the time, they could decide to just leave and go home or get a hotel room if camping got to be too much for them.  He continued, more loudly, “I just have to wait for morning.  They’ll find me in the morning.  And– and if they don’t, I’ll be able to see.  I’ll be able to get myself out.  I’ll be fine.”
If nothing ate him first.
No.  No.  That was–  What out here could even eat him, anyway?  Wolves, yeah, okay, but were there wolves?  Still unclear.  Bears?  If there weren’t wolves, he doubted there were bears.  He’d never heard of any bears out here, anyway.  What else could eat a human who wasn’t, well, already dead?  Cougars?  That one school, a couple districts over, had a cougar for a mascot, didn’t they?  That didn’t really mean anything, though.  What else, what else…  Feral pigs?  Those were supposed to be invasive around here, weren’t they?  Danny had kind of laughed at the idea of it in class, but, here, now, in the dark, was a different story.
He was pretty sure anything else was too small.  So.  Three things out of how many animals?  Thousands?  Yeah.  Yeah, the odds of those three specific animals showing up to bother him were low.  Yes.  Nothing wrong with the math there.  No siree.
(And the stuff his parents were worried about, the stuff they’d set this trap for, that stuff didn’t exist at all, so he didn’t have to worry about it.  There were no werewolves, no chimerae, no hobgoblins, and definitely no fairies.  Wasn’t even worth thinking about.)
A branch snapped.  Then another.
He’d thought the owl was close, but this sounded closer.  And those didn’t sound like small branches.
A deer?  There definitely were deer here.  Sam talked about deer resistant and repellent garden plants, sometimes.  Deer could get big.  Like, reindeer were huge, right?
It was dark under the trees, but by starlight alone Danny could still perceive a shadow moving among other shadows.  Something tall.  Something not shaped anything like a deer.
The shadow came closer.
Danny held his breath and shrunk down against the nearest tree.  He couldn’t fight a bear.  Not even when he wasn’t caught in a net.
"Hello."
"Hi," said Danny back, on autopilot.
Danny continued staring at the shadow for several more tense moments before it occurred to him that it had talked.
"Wait, you can talk?" Danny asked.
"It would appear so," said the shadow, and did not move.  Now that Danny was looking and thinking rather than just freaking out, the shadow looked, well, pretty humanoid.  Tall, sure, and wearing a long coat with a hood - or maybe a dress?  And that could be long hair.  Significantly less weird in the middle of the summer than a coat - but humanoid.
Human, he should say.  Outside of, like, parrots, there weren’t a lot of other things that could talk.  No matter what his parents said.
"Um. I'm a little stuck," said Danny.
"Really?" The shadow did not sound surprised.
"Can you, I don't know, cut the net loose? Please?"
The shadow hummed. "I think the more interesting question is why you're stuck in the first place.  One does not frequently encounter those such as yourself in the woods so late at night."
Oh, wow.  Danny could empathize with the curiosity.  He really could.  This was a weird situation to come across, and whoever this was, they must be just as confused as Danny.  But he also really didn’t want to explain anything about this to a stranger.  And he would really rather be out while talking to what was, yet again, a complete stranger.
… Humans were pretty dangerous themselves, come to think of it.
“Yeah, I guess not.”  He swallowed.  “Why are you out here, anyway?”  Maybe he was being rude, but the shadow had asked first.
The shadow shifted, looking up.  Starlight limned pale skin and a sharp, straight nose in shades of gray.  “The stars.  The sun is too bright during the day.  It is easier to see them at night.”
“Oh,” said Danny.  Maybe, hopefully, not a murderer, then.  Just another person out stargazing.  A weird person but…  Danny didn’t exactly have room to talk.  “Yeah.  Me, too.  Since the moon isn’t up and all.  I just, uh, ran into this.  Trap.  Thing.”  He tugged at the net.  “And now I can’t get out.”
The shadow’s head tipped back down.  “Can’t you?”
“I really can’t.  I can’t even figure out how it’s tied on.  Do you, like, have a flashlight or something?”
“I do not.”
“Not even, like, one on your phone?”
“No.”  The shadow leaned forward, and might have held out a hand, but if they did, they didn’t touch anything that Danny could feel.  “What a curious and terrible thing,” murmured the shadow.  “What cruelty and carelessness, to leave it to trap the unwary.”
Danny winced.  Yeah.  Yeah, okay, it kind of was, and it was probably a small miracle that no one else had ever gotten trapped in one of these things.
That Danny knew of.
He pushed the thought of his parents absent-mindedly forgetting to check one of these traps, or only checking them once a week, out of his mind.  His parents were crazy and kind of forgetful and… well, the point was, he would have heard if something had… happened.
They wouldn’t do that, anyway.
“Yeah.  But, um.  Even without the flashlight, please, help?  Just, maybe if you could untie me, or if you have…”  Did he really want this guy to have a knife?  Not really.  Still.  “Something to cut with, maybe?”
“I cannot cut the net in which you find yourself.”  The shadow shifted again.  “However, I will stay with you until you are free.”
“Maybe if you tried some of the knots, you could get me out, though,” pointed out Danny.
“I have encountered ropes like this in the past.  They do not agree with my skin.”
“What, like, you're allergic?” asked Danny.
“Something like that.”
Just his luck.  He was found, but the person to find him was… incredibly strange.  And not very useful.  And had possibly run into his parents’ nets before and had a reaction to them.
“Okay.  But maybe you could call for help?  I mean, I know you said you don’t have a phone, but you could go get someone who can get me out?”
“Child,” said the shadow, with a touch of amusement, “there are things in these woods that would eat you whole.  I am equipped to deal with them.  You are not.  It would be irresponsible of me to leave you while they wander.”  They settled themselves nearby.  “Besides, I can see the stars here as well as I could elsewhere in these woods.”
“Eat me?” squeaked Danny.  He'd thought about bears earlier, but not, like, out loud.  Talking about them out loud was different. He cleared his throat. “You mean like bears?”
“In some respects,” said the shadow, still amused.
"Okay, um." Danny really did not like confirmation that there were bears around. He could have gone without knowing that. Except he probably should know. Considering he was in a net.
The net.
Which the stranger somehow thought he'd be able to escape on his own?
"Hey, um. I have been trying to get out for a while," said Danny. "It hasn't been working. You're sure you can't do anything to help?"
"There is more than one kind of trap here."
Danny blinked.
Crap.  That would be just like his parents, wouldn’t it?  They couldn’t leave it at just one stupid trap in a public space, they have more.  “Where?”
“You will not be able to see it from your perspective, but I have no doubt it would close were I to attempt to free you.”
“Great,” said Danny.  He took in a shuddering breath.  “Great.  And you, what, think I’ll be able to avoid it on my own?  When I can’t even see it?  Or is this a ‘wait until morning’ thing?”
“You will, at least, be less liable to be eaten by wild animals at that point.  And more able to untie knots with the light of day.”
Okay, yeah.  Danny had been thinking both of those things as well, but with someone here, he’d hoped…
He rubbed his eyes, tiredly, and, to his absolute horror, his stomach rumbled.
“Are you hungry?” asked the shadow, as if Danny wasn’t already embarrassed enough.
Danny mumbled something indistinct.  He had eaten.  Just…  The main course had…  Well, some things were better left unsaid.  The salad (courtesy of Jazz) had been okay, and so had the carrots.  He’d felt full right after dinner.  He had.
But, yeah.  He was hungry.  Dinner had been hours and hours ago at this point.
“I have food enough to share.”
“Uh,” said Danny.  “Okay?”
Something moved under his nose, and he flinched.  He hadn’t seen the shadow move.
“Um, I’m not sure I can…”  He tried to wedge his fingers into one of the holes of the net.  He’d lost track of the opening.
“They are small.  They will fit.  Hold out your hands.”
Danny, only a little skeptical, held out his hands. As promised, several round, slightly damp things, like largeish marbles, were dropped into them through the holes in the net.
“What are these?”
“Star jelly.”
“Like, from starfruit or something?” asked Danny, interested.  He squished one between his fingers.  It was springy, like a gummy.  But still.  Damp.
“Or something,” said the stranger.
“Why is it damp?”
“It hasn’t dried.”
Well. That was almost no information at all.
“But it’s edible?”
“I enjoy them regularly.”
Danny huffed slightly.  This guy was weird.  Again, that was the pot calling the kettle black, but Danny didn’t go around offering weird food to strangers.
No, he went around getting trapped in nets.
And he was hungry.
And it wasn’t like he hadn’t eaten weirder things. His parents could be creative.
Maybe he wasn’t supposed to accept food from strangers, but…  This guy was his getting caught in a net buddy.  And he had to admit, he was pretty mad at his parents right now.  It’d serve them right, that Danny was eating someone else’s food.
Did that make sense?  Maybe not.  But it wasn’t like any of the stuff Sam or Jazz did made any sense, either.
Plus, it had ‘star’ in the name.  He basically had to try out at least one.
He squished the smallest between his fingers one last time, then popped it in his mouth.
He chewed.
There was no burst of flavor. It tasted… pretty bland, actually. All the way through. But the texture was okay.  Mostly.  It was at least better than what had happened to the chicken fated for dinner.
So.  Probably not poison.
(Although why anyone would bother to poison him when he was quite literally trapped in a net was beyond him.)
“I also have a variety of mushrooms.”
Who was this guy? The last hippie in Amity Park? A revolutionary war survivor?
“Do you have hardtack, too?” asked Danny, unable to help himself.
“I have biscuits.”
Oh thank goodness. Normal food.
“Can I have one?”
Something distinctly cracker-like was placed in his hand.
Danny didn’t even bother snarking, he just ate it. The texture was flaky, the flavor nutty and buttery and just salty enough to coat the whole of his tongue with flavor. He crunched into it again and the layers almost shattered between his teeth, then melted in his mouth like butter in a hot pan.
Danny swallowed. He’d never had a cracker that good.
“Can I have another?” he asked. Then, as more fell into his hands, “Where did you even get these? They’re great.”
“I baked them myself.”
Well.  That explained why he didn’t have a phone.  He was a hippie of some variety.  Danny didn’t comment aloud, though, too busy plowing his way through another cracker. He spent a little while chewing in blissful silence before he could swallow.
“They’re great,” Danny repeated, and had another one. And another.
“Ah,” said the shadow, “I believe that was the first proper shooting star of the night.”
“What?” said Danny, looking up from his impromptu meal.  He licked his fingers, then stretched out the net, the better to see through it.  “Really?  Where?”
“From the neighborhood of Cassiopeia, crossing her and going north.”  A pointed finger stood out in silhouette against the slightly brighter sky, tracing an imaginary line.
Danny sighed.  “I can’t believe I missed it.”  The Perseid meteor shower was, after all, one of the main reasons he risked sneaking out.
“Many meteor showers reach their peak shortly before dawn,” said the shadow.  “As we will be here for some time yet, I believe you will have the opportunity to see many more.”
“But the first one…” Danny said, trailing off.
“The first from our perspective.  This shower has been going on for some time.  For someone to our east, perhaps it is, instead, the last.”
Danny grumbled.
First the net and now this…
Something golden green streaked across the sky and he perked up.  That one had been nice.  A breath later, a smaller, shorter one flashed at the edge of his vision, a tiny needle of light.
“See?  There will be more for you to wish on.”
“That’s really not why I wanted to see them,” said Danny, wrinkling his nose.  Wishing was, well.  It was the sort of thing little kids did.  It wasn’t scientific.  It was the kind of thing his parents strictly forbade.
“It isn’t?”
“I…they’re cool. And it’s nice. Or it would be, if it weren’t for this net.”
“What would it hurt to make a wish?”
Danny sighed.  It wasn’t like they were wrong.  This situation was stupid and illogical.  So.
“I wish I could get out of this stupid net. Before my parents find out about any of this.”
The stranger hummed in interest. “They don’t know?”
“They sure know about the net,” griped Danny.  He didn’t take his eyes off the sky, but he did tug on the ropes to make his point.  The rope was homemade, twisted with nonstandard fibers along with more common silk and hemp, rubbed with garlic and sage.  It was distinctive.  It was familiar.  It was something he'd probably tripped on a dozen times when it was left half-finished on the living-room floor.  “But it's not like I told them I was sneaking out. Like, who's going to tell their parents they're breaking rules?”
The shadow hummed again.  "That is true."
Danny was distracted from replying or continuing by a pale, oddly oblong blur to the north.  It stayed in place, even as colorful shooting stars passed it by.
"Is that–?" gasped Danny.  He leaned forward against the tension in the ropes and a similar, less tangible ache in his chest, as if he could get closer to the sky.
The oblong blur widened into several similar streaks, like thumbprints on glass.  Green, pink, and purple began to seep into them.
"There must have been a solar storm I didn't know about," said Danny as meteors shot through the undulating curtain of the Aurora. Delight was dancing in his stomach and thrumming along his limbs at the sight. "We hardly ever get the Aurora this far south."
"It is an auspicious night for stargazing, then," said the shadow, "and one I am indeed glad to share, despite the circumstances."
The thing was, they were right.  Despite the net, stargazing with someone who liked it as much as he did was nice.  It was really nice, despite the net.  Nice enough to wish, quite sincerely, and on a meteor that fell across the sky in that very moment, that they could do it again.  It probably would have been nice even without the Perseids and the Aurora, but with them he was practically giddy.
Briefly, Danny imagined how this meeting might have gone sans net.
Okay.  Honestly, Danny probably would have run for it.  Weird adult in the middle of the night, after all.  He had briefly wondered if the guy was an axe murderer.
He rolled his shoulders.  His back was starting to get sore - probably a combination of the net and how long he'd been looking up, but he didn't want to take his eyes off the light show even for a second.
"My name's Danny, by the way."  They were kind of sort of friends now.  Stargazing buddies.  Net buddies, even.  Danny couldn't refer to the as 'the shadow' or as 'the guy who sat with me all night the time I was trapped in one of my parents' nets' forever, and he doubted the shadow wanted to keep mentally referring to him as 'that weirdo kid who got stuck in a net' for eternity, either.
"I am honored that you would trust me with your name," said the shadow, tone strangely formal.
"Uh, you're welcome?" Danny said.
"I go by Clockwork."
Wow. This guy really was strange, huh?  Was that his legal name?  Just a nickname?  A screen name?  Had he changed his legal name to that?
"Nice to meet you, Clockwork," said Danny, for lack of a better response.
"I am pleased to make your acquaintance, as well."
Pleased to make your acquaintance. Well. Danny's parents were eccentric too (see also: net. see also also: believing said net was going to catch faeries and demons.) and he was now almost eighty percent sure this guy wasn't an axe murderer.
Danny shifted under the net. He could try and shake hands, but the excitement and delight hadn't faded much at all and it was hard to focus on formalities when so much of him was full of so much energy.
Wait.
That was weird, wasn't it? Danny frowned. Should he have taken random food from a stranger? Clockwork had mushrooms, too. Had the star jelly been not just edible but an edible?
Was he high right now?
"Clockwork," Danny began, and the Aurora bloomed across the sky. The moment filled with shared murmurs of admiration, and by the time it died the thought had passed.
Even if the energy hadn't.
He flexed his fingers.  Maybe he’d run through some kind of itchy plant?  That might explain the tingle on his skin.
There was a hollow, almost melodic popping noise from the vicinity of the shadow.  The vicinity of Clockwork, he corrected himself.
“You should try to stay hydrated,” said Clockwork.
A scent both floral and salty wafted up to Danny’s nose.  The green glimmer of the Aurora reflected off the glassy lip of a bottle.  “Is– Is that alcohol?” asked Danny.  “Are you offering me alcohol?  Wine?”
“I am not,” said Clockwork.  “This is far more nourishing.”
“‘This’ being what, exactly?” asked Danny, still vaguely suspicious.
“It is mostly sugar and water.  Fruit juice, salt, nectar, among other things. As you would call them, electrolytes. You have exerted yourself.  It has not been purposefully fermented.”
This guy and his weird food. Still, that didn’t seem…bad, exactly. Danny was thirsty, and he liked gatorade, and that was kind of similar, right? And he was curious.
The crackers had been good.  And even the star jelly had been edible.
It took some experimentation to hold the bottle firmly through the net.  The body of it was too large to fit through any of the holes.  But the mouth and neck of the bottle could go through, and Clockwork seemed content to hold it until Danny figured it out.
The liquid inside was thicker than he had expected.  Sweeter and saltier, too.  The flavor was… interesting.  A little sour, a little bitter, a little… savory?  It definitely tasted like flowers smelled.  Only, it also tasted like something else?  A lot of something elses.
He pulled the bottle back and licked his lips thoughtfully.  He… didn’t hate it.  It sure wasn’t something he’d just drink on his own, though.  On the other hand, taking that sip had made him realize how thirsty he actually was.  Which was very thirsty.  He must have gotten more dried out than he’d thought, first walking here and then fighting the net for who knew how long.
He took another sip, trying to focus on the flavors he hadn’t quite been able to name.
And another.
Something in him settled as he drank. He hadn’t realized how nervous he’d been. Was it nervousness? He’d thought it was excitement. Delight. Something positive.  But now it was settling into something softer. Calmer. And yet the sky was no less compelling.
Maybe it was a different sort of happiness, now that the unexpected relief and delight of a fellow stargazer out here had calmed his nerves. Maybe he hadn’t managed to calm down until now, and the drink was finally letting him?
Regardless, his limbs weren't so tense anymore, and breaths he hadn’t realized had become so short were drawing long and even now, and that was a relief.
He alternated sips with looking up at the stars.  The Aurora undulated slowly, and was periodically pierced by meteors.  The stars behind the curtains of light were harder to see, but he could still pick out his favorites coming and going, first hidden, then not.  The motion of the lights almost made them seem as if they were moving. It was hypnotizing.
He tilted the bottle back once more, and made a disappointed sound deep in his throat when he realized it was empty.  Huh.  He must have liked it alright after all.  That wasn’t a small bottle.  In fact, it was bigger than he’d originally thought when Clockwork had first given it to him.
… He hoped this didn’t make him have to pee.  He was in the woods, but standing next to, um.  Well.  An impromptu bathroom.  Until dawn, at least.  Would make the net thing much worse.
“Done already?” asked Clockwork.
“I guess I was thirstier than I thought.”
“You had been exerting yourself for some time.”  Clockwork plucked the bottle out of Danny’s hands.  “But I believe that you will soon see the fruits of your exertions.”
Danny sighed and leaned more deeply against the tree he was attached to.  Subtly, he rubbed his back against the bark.  The soreness was getting worse.  “Not unless you see a rescue party.”
Clockwork hummed. “I do not. But perhaps you will not need one. The weave of the net seems looser, now. Can your hands fit through?”
Danny tested it. His hand fit through one of the holes easily. And another. It was the same with the third he tried.
“What,” he said.
“It is progress, is it not?”
“I don’t know how,” Danny said. “It’s not like Mom and Dad don’t tie these things at every connection. I didn’t think they could slide.”
“And yet your hands can fit through.”
“Yeah. I just wish I knew how that happened.”
“Dawn will come,” said Clockwork. “You will be able to see it then. Perhaps you worked them loose with your straining.”
“I guess,” said Danny, still wondering.
“And with dawn, you will be free, one way or another. For now, shall we focus on this spectacular sky?”
“Yeah,” said Danny.
He’d never seen a night sky like this before, after all. Even if he was stuck under a net, he had a …not a friend. But a fellow stargazer who was just as appreciative. And he was full, and no longer thirsty, and even the cold of the wet earth beneath him wasn’t as cutting with Clockwork’s company.
He settled in again to watch the lightshow, and worried at the cords of the net as he did. It wasn’t like he couldn’t do both, after all.
The stars flashed.  The sky spun.  Clockwork and Danny both exclaimed and pointed at particularly impressive meteors.  Clockwork noted the visible planets and occasionally pointed out asterisms Danny had never heard of before.  The Veil, the Key, the Mistletoe, the Dancing Maidens, the Hive, the Moth.  He half suspected Clockwork was just making them, and the stories that went with them, up to entertain Danny.  But, then, Danny was entertained.  He couldn’t complain.  Even when Clockwork tried to get away with calling Libra The Balance, Danny found his objections were more laughter than indignation.
The eastern horizon began to blush pale. Danny found himself almost disappointed at the sight, even if he’d be able to get out of the net soon. And really see Clockwork. After stargazing for hours together, it felt odd that he still didn’t know what the man looked like even though his voice was becoming as familiar as a friend’s.
He rubbed one of the net cords between his fingers.  Was it just him, or did it seem… scratchier?  Thicker?
He stroked the skin on his palms. Did he have rope burn, maybe? He had been pulling on the cords for hours.  And who knew what his parents had soaked the nets in after they’d been woven?  Danny sure tried not to.
More importantly, before too much longer the sun would drown out the meteors and the Aurora both.  He wanted to press this sight into his mind to keep forever and ever.  And not just the sight, but the feeling of…  He couldn’t put a name to it, to what he felt, sitting here with Clockwork
It just felt important.
A meteor fell.  He wished it would last.  Another meteor, brighter.  He wished that even after Clockwork inevitably found out who Danny’s parents were and what they were like in person, he would still want to be ‘acquaintances.’  Friends.  Whatever.  He was weird enough.  Probably.  Like Sam and Tucker.
He wished–
A huge fireball bloomed directly overhead, a celestial arrow angling down, north, wreathed in blinding green.  It took Danny’s breath away.
He wished he could do this again. He wished he could cast off the shadow of his parents’ weird fae traps and property damage and hatred of creatures that didn’t even exist. He wished he could have the space and time to figure out who he was and who he could be, whether that was an astronaut, an astronomer, a screw up, whatever Jazz was trying to convince him to be that week, or, heck, even someone just as strange as his parents and Clockwork.  He wished he could be himself, could just shed the image of what they and almost everyone else seemed to see in him.
Also, the net.
Some of the net fell heavily around Danny’s shoulders, then slid off them.  He didn’t look down, still entranced by the after-image.  Then pain, white hot and as sharp as a knife, drove into his temples and back.  It took his breath away.
He dropped to his hands and knees, gasping for air and squeezing his eyes so tightly that tears began to slip out.  What had happened?  What was wrong with him?  He hissed out a shaky breath that was dangerously close to a sob as the pain redoubled, strengthening and strengthening again until static pulsed in the dark of his shut eyes.
It felt as though his head were splitting open.
The pain lanced down his back and he revised the thought. It felt as though he were splitting open.
And then his face came apart.
And then there were only scattered fragments. Scratching.  Growing. Stretching. The feeling of fingers on earth. The feeling fingers of earth. Unfolding. Squeezing. Balance; a knife’s edge.
A great and overwhelming sense of space.
Like a leaf before a storm, Danny trembled.
Eventually, it ebbed.
He was clinging to the ground with all his might, which wasn’t much; the whatever-it-was had left him weak. His limbs felt like jelly and seemed half as cooperative. He was gasping for air, each breath harsh enough to sting his throat. There was a blanket over him and he had the halfway-delirious thought that if Clockwork had a blanket he’d have appreciated it sooner than this.
He couldn’t feel the net.
Had Clockwork gotten him out once it got light enough out? It seemed much brighter now, even if the thought of opening his eyes made Danny wince.
There was a painful, high-pitched chirr sound in the background.  It hurt Danny’s ears and made him wonder if there was an injured animal nearby.
Something pressed down gently on the back of his neck, where the fuzzy, fluffy edge of the blanket rested.  It removed itself, then returned at the top of his head, whereupon it slid down to the top of his back.
Oh.  Oh.  He was being petted.  Comforted.  That must be someone’s hand.  Clockwork’s?
It felt… unusually satisfying.  Especially when they fluffed the ruff of the blanket which Danny was strangely aware of.
Very gradually, the tension in his body began to ease, and he was able to start cataloging the parts of his body that hurt, which was all of them.  But there were a few that hurt more.  His eyes.  His ears.  His temples and the sides of his head.  His entire back.  His shoulders, neck, ears, and large parts of his spine felt like every hair on them had been individually plucked out and then sandpapered.  Speaking of his spine, that felt as if it had been stretched, pulled to bits.  And his back still felt like it had been stabbed.  Multiple times.  Especially around his shoulder blades and at the base of his spine.
Other than that, he was just sore, everywhere.
The quality of the chirr sound he’d been hearing started to change, morphing into a sort of purr.  One that rose and fell in time with the hand petting Danny.
Huh.
His hand flexed on the ground.  Something was…  There was something very off here, beyond the pain, but that was getting better, and he was starting to feel almost… comfortable.
His weight shifted again, and the ground shifted under it.
It was warm.
It was…damp? Wet. There was something wet under his hands.  Carefully, worried that it would move again, Danny took one hand off the ground and brought it to his face to sniff.
It smelled good. It smelled wonderful, salty and hearty and just a little bit like chicken soup.
He licked it.
“There we are,” said Clockwork, softly.  “Take as much as you need.”
Danny needed a lot, right now. His throat was raw, and he was thirsty and suddenly starving, and beyond that the pain that was still leaving echoes through his body. This was warmth and comfort and he wanted both.
He lowered his head and began to lap directly from the source, and warmth and comfort steadily filled him like the morning sun.
He pulled back, not exactly satiated, but needing something else, something different, now.  He made a soft, pleading sound, more like a chirp or a keen than anything human.  He didn’t understand what was going on, but part of him trusted he would be cared for.  Loved.  He’d already been given so much he didn’t know he needed…
Another plea escaped his throat.  It blended with the softening chirr, fitting with it far better than Danny felt it should.
Something soft and sweet-smelling tickled his cheeks, and Danny dove in, his tongue coming out to search for what he knew was there.
Sweet.
Sweet, but not in the way of candy or even sugar. This was softer, perfumed, more reminiscent of honey but lacking that sharp note.
He wanted more.
As he pushed his face deeper into the… container… something touched his…  Touched…  What?  It was touching his… not his head, but something over it, something attached, something he could feel, and now that he could feel it, was thinking about it, whatever it was, he could feel its movements, as even the sigh-soft breeze pushed it around.
It– No, they were something fine.  Something soft and delicate.  Something light and flexible and oh so very sensitive.
The hand, Clockwork’s hand, stroked down his back again, and Danny realized he could feel the fluff of the blanket the same way he’d been able to feel the things on his head. And it trailed past that, to his horribly sore back, and down, all the way down, past where his back should end.
Down, to where Danny could feel something laying across a foot. Down, to where he could feel a hard object under him.
Something twitched, and the thing across his foot fell away. The hard something vanished, too, replaced with the soft ground he found himself on.
Danny chirred, confused.
Oh.  He had been the one making that sound all along.  But.  That wasn’t a sound he could make.  It wasn’t.
He had to see what was going on.
Opening his eyes was, perhaps, the single hardest thing he had ever done.  It wasn’t that they were stuck closed or anything, they were just so heavy, and a large part of him just didn’t want to know, wanted to stay half asleep, wanted to keep being held and petted.
Red. A deep, rich red puddled around him on the strange, soft ground. And the ground was uneven, and covered with small ridges and creases where it didn’t vanish beneath the red. Which was welling up from the ground like a spring.
Danny was wrist-deep in it.
A short distance from his face lay the biggest flower Danny had ever seen.  It was bigger than his head, its pale petals stained liberally with the red.   Handprints.  The red stains were in the shape of handprints.  Danny’s handprints.
The red looked– Well, it looked a lot like–  Like a scene from a horror movie–  But it was coming from the ground, it couldn’t be.  It couldn’t be blood.
Danny had been drinking this.  What had he been thinking?
“Are you feeling better?” asked Clockwork.
Danny looked around for him.  Then, he looked up.
The very first thing he noticed was that there were still stars in the sky.  It was still dark, the Aurora was still bright.  The meteors were still falling.
Why could he see?
Why could he see so much more?  He’d only ever seen the stars like this in long-exposure photographs.  The light pollution was way too strong this close to the city.
There were other, closer things.  The leaves on the trees were green, but they weren’t just green.  Their veins seemed to glow with soft pinks and blues.  He could see insects and birds, too, all of them strangely bright to his eyes, like they had swallowed stars.
Then, there was Clockwork.  It had to be Clockwork.  There wasn’t anything or anyone else it could be.
“I will interpret that as a yes,” said Clockwork, smiling down at him with love clear in all six eyes.
He had the nose Danny had seen before, yes, and long, silk-white hair, but everything else was so far beyond what Danny had imagined that it was hard to even comprehend.
And yet it suited him perfectly.
His skin was blue, like summer twilight, warm and rich.
His face glowed in the same soft, steady way as the birds, and set in it, his eyes were a kindly red. There were four on his right side but his left had only two; a deep black scar tore its way down most of his face and left two empty sockets in its wake. It was interrupted only by his primary eye on that side, and Danny felt tender relief that the old wound hadn’t taken that one, too.
White filaments made up a thick ruff around the collar of his– No, that wasn't a cloak, those were wings.  Huge, dramatic, moth-like wings, layered over one another.  There had to be dozens of them, all the way down his back.  They were as dark and starry as the sky on the outside, but some were turned towards Danny to show the luminous, moon-pale undersides.
Below that–below that, Danny couldn’t see. The ground he was on was too high, and Clockwork too large. The ground–
He wasn’t on the ground.
Finally, like disjointed pieces of a puzzle, the details became whole. The uneven place where he lay, with its softness and whorls of ridges and creases. The warmth of it, and the placement.
The–the blood.
He was on Clockwork’s upturned hand.
Forget the rest of it.  When, and how, did Clockwork get so big?
Danny chirred a question. Wordless, overwhelmed and wondering.
(And why was Clockwork bleeding?)
“You are safe, little one. My little one.”
Danny chirred again, a little cross. That didn’t answer anything.
Clockwork only smiled, and then there was a gentle rocking motion as they moved. Like clouds, the trees in the distance slid sideways with deceptive speed.
Danny settled, feeling sleepy, slow, and stupid, but still safe.  Like he should be able to make this all make sense, like this should make sense, if he was just a little more awake and aware, but that it didn’t matter if he couldn’t, because he would be protected.
And then, Clockwork tilted, and his hand jostled, and though he didn’t become more visible, they were suddenly surrounded by great spikes of grass and flowers, stories tall. Some of them drooped, heavy with seeds or droplets of dew. They hung huge and heavy from the stalks, like fruit ripe to bursting.
Danny blinked. Frowned. Blinked again.
There was something, an idea, that made sense. But it hung just out of reach, blurry, and every time he reached for it, the thought passed through his mental fingers like the morning mist.
It was, it should have been, obvious.
Clockwork would know. Danny chirred his question again.
“It will come to you,” Clockwork said. ”Give it time.”
Clockwork cleaned him off gently with a huge, damp cloth, taking special care with his ruff, antennae, and wings. He mopped up the blood pooling beneath Danny as well, with a reassurance that Danny was welcome to more if he needed it. With another hand, he laid another huge flower down next to him. The stem where Clockwork had held it glowed briefly, before it faded into the relative dark of early morning, leaving the flower with the same odd coloration as the tree leaves earlier.
Dawn was still hours off. He wasn’t in the net.
Danny looked up.
He’d wondered what it would be like to stargaze with Clockwork without the net.  Apparently, the answer was wonderful.
The stars were still so beautiful. More beautiful, now. There was such an incredible array of color and brightness in the sky, like a living painting. There was scarcely any black left in it.
Danny blinked, slow.  He rubbed his face with his hands, lingering over his ears - which felt long and soft, like a cat’s or a rabbit’s, he must really be sleepy - and the long fluffy things that had sprouted from his head.  They twitched under his fingers.
He looked up at Clockwork, still hoping for an answer and… Clockwork had things growing from his head, too, now that he looked.  He’d mistaken them for hair, before, but while Clockwork certainly had plenty of that, braided, beaded, and beribboned, that wasn’t all he had.
They were antennae.  Four of them.  White, fluffy, and softly glowing.  They were much longer, compared to Clockwork’s body, than Danny’s were compared to his.  Danny raised his hands to feel his again.  He had two.  And, maybe, behind each, a ticklish little nub.
It felt…right, that they should both have antennae, though. Satisfying. Comforting, like a hug. Like the stroking had been, and the blood.
What else did Danny and Clockwork share, now?
Danny’s eyes trailed carefully over Clockwork’s face.
Danny was pretty sure he only had two eyes, but he touched his face again, just to make sure.  Then his ears…  Clockwork had big, long ears, too, the edges of them soft with white fur. Just like his ruff.  Danny’s ruff was black shot with silver and… it was growing from his skin.  It wasn’t part of a blanket, which meant…
He twisted his head to check.
There was no blanket.  Danny had wings.  They were wrinkled and slightly damp, but they were wings, just like Clockwork’s, although he didn’t have nearly as many.  Two sets, to Clockwork’s uncountably many.
He also had a tail. And only two arms, to Clockwork’s four. Somehow, in the moment, this seemed less important than the wings.
His eyes kept returning to his wings.
The outsides looked just like the darker parts of the sky did now, streaked with meteor silver and edged with Auroral green.  The insides were the same vivid colors as the Aurora itself.  Pinks, purples, blues, and greens all dancing together.
They were beautiful.  He definitely, definitely should not have them.
He wanted them.
He shouldn’t want them.
He did.
He drew them close to his body and looked up.
There was a huff of fond laughter. “Remember to fan them out, my little fledgeling. We want them to dry well.”
Oh. Right. Danny unfolded his wings again, a little embarrassed he’d forgotten.
And then he returned his attention to the stars. He was determined to enjoy this for however much longer this might last.  Maybe this would all make sense in the morning.  Maybe all of this would be taken away from him.  Either way, neither was true now.
Now, Danny was here with Clockwork, looking up.
Now, the sky was vast and beautiful.
Later, his eyes started to feel heavy again.  He pulled the flower close, and began to absent-mindedly chew on the petals in an attempt to stay awake.  He didn’t want to miss anything else.
Despite his efforts, his eyes began to droop. His head kept falling into his neck fluff, and the flower tumbled from his hands.
Clockwork plucked it from where it fell, and replaced it with a blanket, just Danny’s size.
“Some inevitabilities we must fight,” said Clockwork, “but this isn’t one of them, my dear child.”
For another few moments, he kept his eyes stubbornly on the sky.  Another pair of meteors fell, and he wished, perhaps selfishly, that this could last forever.
But, he admitted to himself with a sigh, he was very tired.
Danny curled up in Clockwork’s hand, tucking his head under the wings he was careful to keep fanned, and his tail around his head.
“Rest, my little one,” said Clockwork’s voice, already distant. “We can talk more when you are rested.”
And Danny did.
Dawn.
The kiss of the sun on the horizon.  The beginning of a new day.  The banishment of all things of the night.
Danny jackknifed straight up as if its fire had been poured directly into his veins, heart pounding.  He woke just in time to see his new wings, his beautiful, terrible, fully spread wings evaporate like the morning dew.
The antennae, the tail, and the fur that had grown around his neck and shoulders and down his spine stayed.
More concerningly from Danny’s perspective, his perspective didn’t change.  He stayed small, just the right size to fit snugly in the palm of Clockwork’s hand.
Clockwork’s wings stayed.  So did his extra eyes, his antennae, his skin color, and everything.
This wasn’t a dream.
Or there really had been drugs in the food Clockwork gave him.
Why, oh why, was that the best case scenario right now?  Why was the best possible answer to the question of what was happening that he was just really really high?
Because if he was just drugged, that meant he was only normal human stupid.  People took stupid drugs accidentally and on purpose all the time.  But if it wasn’t drugs, if this was real… That meant he’d somehow wandered into a world where his parents were right, had always been right, and he was probably about to get eaten.
“I would not, and will not, eat you,” said Clockwork.  “I never would.”
“I don’t know what you would or wouldn’t do!” hissed Danny, pulling on his hair. “You turned me into some kind of– of moth boy.”
“You would have turned regardless, trapped so thoroughly and so long on a faerie door on a night like that. I simply made sure that it was kinder.”
“Kinder than what?”
“Any number of things. Any number of fates. They do not give much more mind to cruelty than your parents.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It was their trap you fell into, dear one.  Without their actions, you could be human, still; safe and warm at home.  Though,” and here Clockwork smiled so gently that Danny couldn’t help but be comforted despite himself. “You are safe, and you are warm. And you could be home as well.”
Danny hunched his shoulders.  “What,” he squeaked, “is that supposed to mean?”
“I mean that as you are, you would be in danger with those who made the net that trapped you. I mean that you would be welcome in my home, and cared for, and safe. You are not the first lost and lonely child I have found. Nor the first with parents who should have protected them, and did not.”
“You’ve kidnapped other kids?”
“I have adopted other children. Other children, who were not cared for as they should have been, not loved as they deserved. As you deserve.”
“My parents love me just fine,” Danny snapped.
“I see,” said Clockwork, and he seemed sad. “And your presence here in the night? Alone, without even a light to see by?”
“I snuck out. And I brought a flashlight with me.”
“Alone,” said Clockwork.
“I thought the woods were safe.”
“Why? Did your parents tell you they were?” asked Clockwork, eyes narrowed and nose flaring.
“No! No, they said they were full of monsters.”
“So they didn’t teach you we could be dangerous?”
“No, I–I didn’t believe them.”
“My child, humans can be dangerous. Even to other humans. Surely, you know–”
“I know that,” interrupted Danny. “I didn’t think you existed.”
Clockwork frowned. “Your parents set cruel traps for the unwary.”
“Because they are crazy. Were crazy?” Danny moaned, burying his head in his hands.  He resisted the urge to start preening his antennae and fluff. “I don’t even know anymore.”
“Their cruelty is the same,” said Clockwork, “Regardless of whether you believed the target existed. And they let you go hungry.”
“That wasn’t their fault.  They made dinner.  It just… didn’t work out.”
“Then whose fault was it?” asked Clockwork.  “Yours?  Your sister’s?  As parents, they should provide for you, not leave you to fend for yourself.”
“They didn’t leave us to fend for ourselves,” scoffed Danny, crossing his arms.
“What do you call them leaving to go test what was left of that chicken?”
“That was– Okay, but what happened to the chicken was really weird–”
“It was not the first time, or the only time, that they abandoned you in favor of crafting their weapons and traps.”
Danny shook his head.  “They love us.  They love me.”
“Sometimes, that is not enough.”
“Sometimes it is.  Of course it is. They love me. They love me enough to–” Danny swallowed, fighting down grief and horror. “I’m not leaving them.  Or Jazz.”
Swallowing hadn’t helped. It had only shoved the churning knot of emotion down into his chest where it could reach awful vines around his heart and squeeze.
His hands were shaking.
God, what would Jazz do if he randomly disappeared?  They annoyed the heck out of each other, and Jazz definitely held some of the things she did for him over his head for guilt trips, but he didn’t doubt she loved him. He didn’t doubt she would be frantic if he vanished.
He chirred again, mournfully, and only looked up again at Clockwork’s light touch.
“If love is enough,” said Clockwork, softly, ”then shouldn’t it be enough that I love you?”
“I–I don’t know,” said Danny.
Because the thing was, he didn’t doubt that Clockwork loved him. Nor that Clockwork would nurture and protect him, as he already had. It was easy, terribly easy, to imagine snuggling under Clockwork’s wings or into his ruff and trusting that he would be safe.
Danny pinched his eyes shut. “I’m going back.”
“As you are?  Knowing how they would treat those they consider monsters?”
“Yes.  They’re my parents.  They love me.”
“Through this forest, and all of its dangers?”
“Yes.”
“Through all the hazards of that human city?”
“Yes.”
“Nothing I can do will dissuade you?”
“No.”  Although, Danny reflected, Clockwork could certainly stop him physically.  All he would have to do was hold him.  But Danny would fight him.  He’d fight, and he’d never stop fighting, and trying to get back home, no matter what.  No matter how much Clockwork seemed to care for him, or how gentle and kind he was.
Clockwork sighed.  “Then I have no choice.  I will let you return.”
“You– You will?” asked Danny, suspiciously.  It couldn’t be that easy, could it?
“Yes.  But I would not have you killed out of hand, my child, as would certainly happen if you were to return as you are now.  First, let me show you how to change.”
“I don’t want to change anymore,” said Danny.  “I don’t.  I don’t.” The fear was a beating heart inside of him, the idea of more change, unknown and untraveled.
“Perhaps I should say, change back.”
“I can be human again?” A needle of hope lanced through his chest. But would he ever see Clockwork again?
“Not precisely,” said Clockwork, before Danny could dwell.  “No more than you are now.  But it was the doorway that changed you, and doorways are of the between rather than here or there.  Thus, you are of both sides of the door, not just one.  You are still half human.”
Danny sat down.  “I am?” he asked, voice wavering.  He wasn’t going to cry.  Not now.
“Yes,” said Clockwork.  “You are half human… and half faerie.  Half of their house, and half of mine, tied by blood, if not birth.”
Danny remembered.  He remembered drinking Clockwork’s blood (again, what had he been thinking?) and how good it had tasted.
He hoped that wasn’t going to be, like, a recurring thing.
“So, what do I do?” he asked.
“First,” said Clockwork, “you ought to take off your clothing, so it doesn’t tear.”
“So it doesn’t…?” Danny looked down at himself.  Maybe he should have realized earlier, but he wasn’t wearing the clothes he’d put on yesterday.  Which made sense.  At his current size, they would have been far too big.  Instead, he was wearing simple white layered robes that had openings in the back for his wings and tail.
“I will have to get you something enchanted to change sizes, or to come when you transform, should you choose to remain and change often,” continued Clockwork.  “But I was able to make these on short notice, and they were suitable for the night.”
“You made these?” asked Danny, oddly touched.  He was supposed to be mad at Clockwork.  He was supposed to be afraid of him.  But both of those feelings just ran out of his hands like water out of a fist.
“I did,” said Clockwork.
“What happened to my clothes?”
Clockwork shifted one of his wings, showing what was beneath it.  Silver buckles and pocket watches shone brightly against dark silk and leather.  Other things, like bottles, herbs, and what looked like a small spyglass hung from belts or were secreted in pockets.  Danny’s ratty jeans and t-shirt stood out like a sore thumb.
“Oh,” said Danny.  “Okay.  Um.”  His hands curled around the edge of the tunic-like top portion of the robes.  “Don’t look.”
Clockwork closed his eyes.
“Now what?” asked Danny, who very much was not enjoying being naked in the open like this.
“We are creatures of the night sky,” said Clockwork, eyes still shut.  “We are of the Stars and the Moon.”
“The moon is up during the day, too.  It’s up right now.”
“So it is,” agreed Clockwork.  “But so is the Sun that drowns out the Stars.”
“The sun is also a star.”
“So it is.  But it is not like other Stars.”
“Yes, it is.”
“It is not like other stars to us, or to humans.  It is the light by which so many see.  It is what divides day from night.  It is, you see, what has clipped your wings.” Danny shifted slightly, the missing weight of his wings both foreign and familiar.
(There was so much to unpack.  He hadn’t any time.)
“Why is it different?”
“Its proximity, perhaps. We can discuss it at a later time, if you wish. I would enjoy such a conversation.”
Danny hadn’t really thought about there being a ‘later’ with Clockwork, but…  The thought of never seeing Clockwork again made his heart squeeze painfully, so he shoved it away.
“In any case,” continued Clockwork, “for those like yourself to change, you reach for one or the other.  For the day or the night.  The light or the dark.  The Moon or the Sun.  However you would like to think about it.  You give precedence within yourself to one or the other.”
“Is it harder when they’re close to one another in the sky, like now?” Danny asked.
Clockwork smiled, though he kept his eyes shut. “As I do not transform that way, I do not know myself. My other children may have more comparable experiences, and we all are more comfortable under the phase we were born under.”
“I don’t think I’m going to be running into your children any time soon,” said Danny.  Seeing them would, after all, mean that Clockwork had succeeded in kidnapping Danny, too.  Even if it meant that he’d see Clockwork again…
“Even so.  You will be able to see for yourself before long.  Reach out, now.  Can you feel them?”
Clockwork had a lot of confidence in Danny being able to figure this out quickly, huh.
(Despite still being mad at Clockwork - he was mad, he was - Danny didn’t want to disappoint him.)
Reach out… to something inside himself.  Which was also outside himself?  He wasn’t entirely clear on how literal the connection to the moon and sun was.  But…  Right.  Okay.  He could do this.  He didn’t want to be a little gremlin moth thing that Clockwork - or, heck, an average bird - could carry off at a moment’s notice.
He closed his eyes.
Day and night.  Light and Dark.  Moon and sun.  This was the kind of Yin and Yang stuff Sam sometimes got into.  Balance and changing balance.
If he was reaching for the sun - for the Sun, the idea of the Sun - he should reach for heat, shouldn’t he?  Heat and life and truth.
He could feel it, on his skin, warming him, cutting through the coolness of the morning.  He imagined that warmth sinking through him, filling him up.
But there was warmth inside him, too.  It built in his chest and left his lungs with every breath. It churned in his heart and coursed through his veins like the blood that helped to carry it.  It was easy to take that, and imagine light to accompany it, centered at his heart.  To imagine it reaching out as the sunlight reached in.  He imagined it growing, brightening, pushing out against the inside of his skin, chasing away the dark, chasing away the moonlight and starlight and Aurora.  Gold, chasing out black and silver.
Except… not entirely.
The sun was also a star, and all moonlight had once been sunlight.  They mixed at the edges, blending comfortably, linked inexorably.
(There was magic he would be able to touch through this link that few others could.  He understood this instinctively - but he was not yet ready for it, and the feeling was pushed away, put aside for a later, more appropriate day.)
This was the Sun, a tiny spark of it held within himself.
(There was the Moon, dark but no less itself, no less present and pulling for its invisibility during the day.)
And… the balance shifted.
He wouldn’t be able to explain what it felt like, to fall back into his skin.  Not now.  Not today.
Maybe not even if he lived a hundred years.
(Maybe he would, something whispered in his ear. Who knew how long moth-things lived?)
But he found himself at his proper human teenager size, cradled in Clockwork’s arms, no fluff or tail in sight.
Still naked, though.
He snatched his clothes from Clockwork, and, blushing furiously, ran behind a tree to change.
It was strange, walking next to Clockwork.  The… Danny wasn’t actually sure what Clockwork was.  Mothman?  Moth monster?  Anyway, Clockwork was still way taller than him, and the way his ruff and wings made him seem bulkier made Danny feel a little bit better about initially mistaking him for a bear.
The walk itself was still weird and awkward.  Danny kept drifting closer to Clockwork, and then when Clockwork’s wings ruffled out towards him, as if to part or turn back to let him shelter under them, he flinched away, walking as far apart as the trees would allow.
Danny wondered if one of the things Clockwork had given him to eat had been some kind of… family love potion, and if it would ever wear off.  Despite no longer having any fur, his skin still itched for Clockwork to touch him, pet him, hold him.
Although, for that to be perfect, he’d need to change back.  Shrink back down until Clockwork could hold him securely in one hand and pet him, head to tail, with the other.
Which– No.  No.  He was never going to turn back into a moth.  He wasn’t going to think about it.  He wasn’t ever going to have antennae, or wings, or a tail ever again.
… Clockwork had a tail.  A long one, longer than Danny’s had been, compared to his body.  It trailed on the ground like the train of a dress, and both the left and right side of it was completely lined with moth wings, as opposed to Danny’s where there were only wings next to the little bulb at the end.  Which Clockwork also had.  It flickered with light, like a lightning-bug’s tail.
Danny wondered if his tail would do that, too, under the right circumstances.
Not that it mattered.  Again, weird fairy door magic or whatever, he was going to be human from now on.  Yep.
(Wow, the more he thought that, the less convincing he got.  That was sad, actually.)
They reached the edge of the forest.  Amity Park seemed to sparkle in the light.  Too bright.  Too artificial.  Unreal, after the events of the night.
“Here is where we part, for now,” said Clockwork.  “If you need me, you will be able to find me.” Could he say anything that didn’t sound ominous and weighty?
“Right,” said Danny.  He hesitated, then, impulsively, hugged Clockwork.  He shouldn’t have.  Clockwork was exactly the kind of monster his parents had always warned him about, and was an admitted serial kidnapper who had spied on his family and turned him into a moth.
But he couldn’t imagine leaving without hugging Clockwork.  Just once.
Clockwork hugged him back, with all four arms and what had to be a dozen wings.  It was the best hug he’d ever had - even if it was also the most terrifying.
Then, Clockwork leaned down so that his lips were next to Danny’s ear.  He whispered to him a simple handful of words.  Most of them were familiar.  His name.  His full name, the one on his birth certificate, the one his parents and sister used when they were really upset with him.  But… one of them he hadn’t heard before.  Not once.  Not ever.
It was still his name.
He knew this with the same surety as he knew the rest of his name.  He also knew it hadn’t been his name before last night.
It was his name… because it was Clockwork’s.  It was a family name, belonging to him as indelibly and as truly as the name ‘Fenton,’ one that bound him not only to Clockwork, but to the rest of Clockwork’s kin.
It did more than that, too.  When Clockwork spoke his name, his true, full name, it was as if every molecule in his body had been magnetized and his name was a magnet.  He was held still by it, at perfect attention.  Whatever Clockwork wanted to say, whatever he wanted to do, Danny had no choice but compliance.
Not that, in the moment, he wanted another choice.
“Follow your conscience, my dear, sweet child,” said Clockwork.  “I want that for you, always.  But when you do, please…  Have a care for yourself, too.  Do not needlessly throw yourself into deadly danger.”
Danny, pinned to Clockwork’s chest, nodded.
Clockwork, with palpable reluctance, released him, hands tracing along his cheeks before falling away.  “Be safe, Danny.”
Danny nodded again, and stepped backwards, out of the trees and into the sunlight.  He didn’t know why he felt so sad, all of a sudden.  He was going home.  He’d avoided being permanently kidnapped or eaten.  He was fine.
He turned away.
He was going home.
Stay tuned for the sequel. :)

....Mathew touching himself and your not allowed to do anything but watch because you've been brstting all evening so your not allowed to touch him or yourself and are just left to watch him get off while your helplessly horny
(I have problems I know)
(you don't. or, if you do, we all have them too lol) also, me earlier being like "oh matty's a soft dom" and now writing this... growth
this would literally be the worst punishment of all time for you, and for matty actually - both of you just want to make the other feel good while feeling good yourself. thinking maybe he gets you to suck his fingers as he often does when you're a bit bratty, and you think "that's fine i'll be good here and then matty will get us both off". but no! you've been so irritating that matty thinks it's for the best if you don't get anything nice at all for the rest of the night, and he simply uses your saliva all over his hand as lube while he wanks himself off. and he hasn't got your hands tied or anything, but matty makes it explicitly clear that you don't touch yourself - if you do, he won't make you cum for the next week (which is literally your idea of hell) - and that you need to watch him the whole time, very "ah! eyes open, sweetheart, look at what you could have been doing if you weren't so fucking cheeky earlier. shame, isn't it? would rather have your hand on my dick than my own, but i only want my good girl to touch me and she seems to be away at the moment". and you're whimpering like "nooooooo i'm sorry i was bad, i'm right here! please, PLEASE let me touch you, baby!", and matty just hums and says "watch me get myself off without being needy and i might consider it". so you do, although it's delicious torture watching matty near his orgasm right in front of you and not be allowed to touch either him or yourself, and you do so well that matty says "that's more like it. c'mere, gorgeous" and makes you crawl over to him. and he looks down at you, those beautiful eyes blinking a lot to signify his imminent orgasm, and says "you want my cum?" and you nod frantically, with a "yes please", and matty smiles breathily like "there's my good girl. right - close your eyes, open your mouth". you oblige, and then, accompanied by a gasp of your name, you feel matty's cum on your face and tongue - after you open your eyes, matty uses one finger to wipe his release from your face, then places said finger on your tongue before you swallow what you managed to take in your mouth, earning a "good fucking girl" and a promise of an orgasm once matty recovers from his own <3

Chapter 3: The dog and the D&D
Tumblr media
Jacob had never seemed so excited to tell you something, than he was when he practically sprinted inside the bakery, panting and grinning like a madman. “Y/N, GUESS THE FUCK WHAT??” He yelled with his eyes glinting dangerously. You quickly thrusted a walnut-muffin into his hand, and he took a giant bite. “What the fuck, Jake?” You asked, grinning. Your phone plinged with a messaged from Andy, asking if you had seen Jacob today. You smiled at your phone before answering that, yes, indeed, his lanky, overly excited son was standing in your bakery. You looked back up to Jacob, who was grinning knowingly and wiggled his eyebrows.
“Shut up.” “I didn’t even say anything!” He gasped, before taking another large bite of the muffin. “I can feel what you’re thinking, Jake. And shut up.” “All I’m thinking is that you and my dad should…” “Don’t…” He ignored you. “Get it on. Like, how old people do. Go to some fancy schmanzy restaurant or some shit.” You rolled your eyes. “One more time, one, where you try to convince me to date your dad, and no more muffins.” He gasped. “Nooooooo!” “Yes. I’m hardcore like that.” You grinned at him. “Besides, your dad would be better off with someone his own age.” “Pffht. He needs some spruce in life. And someone who can break his old man back.” “JAKE!” He shrugged. “Am I wrong? Are you going to look at me and tell me that I’m wrong?”  “I’m... Not saying anything, actually. I think I’ll spare myself.” He rolled his eyes and finished his muffin.  “Listen, all I’m saying is that you want to jump his bones, he wants to jump yours... I don’t see what’s holding you back.”  “Jake, one more time...”  “Yeah, yeah, muffins are over. I get it, I’m just trying to get you to see that maybe this isn’t a crazy idea.”  “Jake...” He grinned.  “Anyway, on to what I really wanted to talk about…” His eyes glinted again, and he began jumping up and down. Small crumbs tumbled from his shirt to the counter. “WE’RE GETTING A DOG!” “HOLY SHIT! YEEEES!” You jumped with him. “That’s amazing, Jake!” “I KNOW!” He was grinning wildly. “We’re going to the pound in the weekend. I don’t care how big, small, weird or normal that dog is, I’m naming it Kal-El.” “What if it’s a girl?” You asked, laughing a little and glanced at your phone; Andy had texted you again. Jake shrugged. “Kal-El.” “Okay, we’re going with straight up non-gendered names?” He nodded. “Maybe I’d go for Bowser if I am really in the mood. But then it has to be ugly as shit.” You laughed. “Sure thing.” “Wanna come?” You blinked. “Me?” He nodded. “Yeah, you have the best taste in everything.” “Oh, really?” He nodded vigorously.
“Just look at me. You love me, and that is truly great taste.” He wiggled his brows again. “And my dad...”  “Stop it.”  “I’m being truthful...”  “High and mighty today, aren’t we?” You laughed. “We gotta get ready for D&D, can you start getting it set up?” He nodded. “Uhm, another person is joining the party.” He blushed. “Is that a blush, I see?” You asked, smirking a little, wiping your hands on your apron. “Is my little Jake falling in love?” He rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, no, I’m just… She’s pretty cool. She plays cello.” “Oh?” He nodded. “Well, can’t wait to meet her. I’ll just go call your dad, he’s blowing up my phone.” It was his time to smirk, and you narrowed your eyes and pointed at him. “Don’t you dare. Don’t even think it.” He held his hands up, but the smile didn’t go away. “Didn’t say anything. At all.”
When the door to the back closed, you pulled your phone out to several messages from Andy, and quickly called him instead of trying to answer all the messages in one. He picked up quickly. “Y/n.” His voice made you shiver just a little. “Hi, Andy.” “Jake’s there?” He asked, and you heard some rustling in the background. “Yeah. We’re having D&D-night tonight.” “Right. I’m sorry, I completely forgot about it.” “Don’t worry, it’s not like you’re supposed to be here for it.” Another rustle of papers and then a shit followed. “And it would seem like you are more than busy.” “I’m… Fuck… A little overrun, yeah.” The way his said fuck made your body tingle. Stop it, Y/N, you’re better than this. He sighed and you sat down on the only chair in the backroom. “Listen, Y/N, I really apricate you taking care of him, but I…” “Nope. We’ve had this talk before, Andy. I’m good. I like his company; he keeps me young.” “You are young.” “Well, keeps me younger.” He chuckled a little. “I just… I feel bad that I’m not around as much as I want to be. You know?” “Yeah.” There wasn’t more to say to that – there wasn’t any reason to rub it in or try to make him feel less guilty, because the man was stubborn as a mule when it came to it. “I feel like I owe you something.” He said slowly, and you swallowed thickly at the tone of his voice. “Oh, no, Andy. I’m serious, Jake and his friends are weirdos and I love them. Besides, since we started playing here, I’m actually breaking even in the bakery. They eat like pigs.” He laughed. “So I’ve noticed. Growing teenagers, man.” You laughed. “Indeed. Anyway, I should…” “Oh, yeah, sure.” You didn’t hang up and neither did he. “We’re really shitty at hanging up.” You stated. “Maybe I just like talking to you.” Your face felt hot. “Oh.” “If that’s okay.” “Yeah, no, yeah. It’s fine, great, I, uhm… Just don’t know how to respond, really.” You laughed a little.
“Y/N, they’re here!” Jacob yelled from the front and you sighed. You weren’t going to lie, you did really enjoy talking to Andy too. “I gotta run before these assholes wreck my shop.” You hesitated. “You’re welcome to join us, if you have time.” Silence. “I don’t know how to do the dungeons or the dragons.” “It doesn’t matter. We’re just having fun.” You tried your hardest to not laugh at him. He chuckled a little. “Maybe I’ll see if I can get off early today. God knows I need it.” “Sure thing. If not, I’ll be happy to take Jake home.” “Thank you, Y/N.” He hung up shortly after that and you stuffed your phone in your back pocket before removing your apron, and throwing it in a corner of the kitchen.
Jake, Hope, Sam, Derek and someone, you could only assume was Emily, were loudly fighting over dice, while moving tables to make a giant one in the middle of the floor – Emily was standing to the side, a little quiet, while Derek held tightly onto the dice, that Jake was trying to pry out of his hands, while Sam was yelling from the sidelines. “YO!” You yelled and all faces turned to you. Derek and Jake still held onto the dice. “What the hell, guys?” “Derek took my lucky dice!” “Did not, I took my lucky dice!” “Liar!” And the bickering began again. You rolled your eyes. “If any of you want to play today, you better put the dice back on the table and step away slowly.” They all gulped, and the two boys put the dice on the table and took two steps back. “We have a rule, you guys. Newcomers gets first pick.” You smiled at Emily. “Your pick of dice, my lady.”
Luckily, it didn’t take long to get everyone sorted, settled and ready for the campaign – Emily was new, but before long, everyone was sweating wildly, silently praying that they’d survive the campaign. “Okay, Jake, you’re standing at the very edge of the Lessing Sea, and if you don’t take Qualnus down, the Underdark will invade the surface, killing everyone. What’s your choice?” Jake was sweating, looking back and forth from the board to his character sheet. Sam was hiding behind their hands, while Derek was chanting, please don’t be dumb, please don’t be dumb over and over.   “Shit, I don’t know.” He groaned. “What’s my options?” “You can try for the Warhammer of the Diviner and see if it’ll take him, but if you don’t roll at least 12, you’re down. Maybe forever. You can try to heal, but…” Your eyes flickered to the door, where Andy stepped in, a smile on his lips when his eyes found yours. “Hey, guys.” “Dad, I love you, but I need you to be quiet like right now, I need to think.” “Oh, damn.” You stood and left the kids to ponder their life, and hugged Andy tightly. “I didn’t think you’d make it.” “Me neither.” He smiled. He was a little winded, and his hair looked way too good for someone who had been outside in the wind. it was actually unfair. His eyes roamed over your body, and you tried not to let it get to your head. “How’s the campaign going?” You sighed and looked to the kids, who looked like they all were on the brink of a mental breakdown. “Well… Derek’s halfling, Spearhead, is currently paralyzed with poison and at risk of dying from the Vampire Overlord, Qualnus and his minions. Sam’s mage is currently stuck in the current of the Lessing Sea, and his staff is about to break. Emily’s elf, Tealeaf, is suffering on the other side of the bank, and she needs help crossing the wild currents. Jake, is… Well…” You both looked to him, as he began pulling at his hair. “Y/N, this is IMPOSSIBLE. I can’t do this!” You chuckled. “He’s currently trying to survive a one-on-one with Qualnus, but he has to roll high and he’s barely hanging on as we speak.” Andy nodded and followed you to sit next to you, looking over the board. Jake held a finger out to his father. “Don’t speak.” Andy held his hands up. “Jake, you gotta make a decision, man.” Derek groaned. “Or we’ll all die.” “WAIT!!” Jake looked at you with wild eyes. “I have enough xp to get Tealeaf across the water, right?” You checked. “Yes?” “And she’s magic.” You nodded again. “I’m doing it.” Emily blushed. “Okay, go for it. You need…” “14, yeah.” He nodded seriously, and Andy leaned close, his breath on your neck. It raised goosebumps. “So… When is the campaign over?” He asked softly. You glanced at the clock. “Not tonight, but we’re stopping after Jake’s roll. It’s getting late.” He nodded. “Cool.” He seemed like he wanted to say something else, but Jake screamed with glee in the same moment. “15!!” Jake was alit with joy. “I’m getting Tealeaf over!” “Good job, Jake!” You narrated the treacherous voyage across the storming sea, and when Tealeaf and Jake’s dwarf, Bunder, had reunited, you closed it off for the night, the kids cheering loudly. “Good game, guys. We’ll find another day to get through the wonderous fight with Qualnus the Bad!” They all cheered and began packing up, and you nodded to Andy. “Come with me.” He followed you willingly to the back – you glanced back and saw Jake wink at you. “Clean, Jake.” You narrowed your eyes at him before leading Andy to the back.
“What’s up?” You grinned at him and began pulling out the stuff, you had put away for him. “So… I know you, and you barely eat when you work, and you got off late… So…” You put the basket of treats on the table. “I wanted to feed you. Or… Well, yeah. Make sure you actually got something to eat.” He smiled bashfully. “Y/N, you didn’t have to…” “I wanted to. I gotta take care of my boys, right?” He blushed. “Well, in that case.. Your boy thanks you.” He hugged you, albeit a little hesitantly. You hugged him back and allowed yourself to enjoy the way his cologne wrapped around you. It was nice. “Listen, I have to get Jacob home. We’ll see you around?” You nodded and pulled away from his hug – your faces were closer than you had initially thought, and it took your breath away. “Oh.” It sounded more like a squeak than anything else, that came form your throat and you cursed yourself. His hands were warm on your back. He cleared his throat and for a second, you might’ve believed he’d do something wild, like kiss you, but he just smiled and pulled away fully. “Yeah, I’ll… I actually have a thing with Jacob on Friday, I’ll be over then.” “Looking forward to it.” “Me too.” He grabbed the basket and left the back, while you fumbled for your phone and followed him, hugging the kids goodbye and closing up shop. You quickly texted Jacob.
Y/N: Jake you might be a little right.
J: About?
Y/N: You know what. You were right you little asshole.
J:
Tumblr media
Y/N: yeah, yeah, get it out, buddy I still need serious help because theres no way your dad is going to ask me out

Hey can I get that satoroz essay? I’m in dire need of your beautifully crafted self ship narratives right now
Hiiiii sera sorry for being insane but i kind of went crazy abt him and honestly could maybe say more but i literally needed to shut up ajsjsjsksjsk
Oh satoroz……he is my best friend in the whole wide world and I mean that and I friendzone him for YEARS because of it like I literally just don’t believe him when he like tries to flirt or like ask me on a date I’m like hahaha yeah let’s go on a “date” like I’m treating it as a game I’m like yeah let’s dress up and shit
And it KILLS him but honestly he will wait and it’s not like he has time to even deal with our feelings on top of like. Everything else in his life so❤️ it’s fine he will just keep randomly flirting while I keep not taking him seriously and we are like grossly affectionate and don’t think anything of it and also when he is running low on his dior lipgloss and I’m still shiny we kiss to share the shine but anyways
I’m kind of like. So so soooo scared to fall in love with him and that’s part of the reason that I invest so much in the friendship and constantly brush off his advanced because I don’t think he’s serious and I am scared that if I read into it he’ll be like oh….i don’t want u like that
But also we are the worst duo to ever live and whenever everyone’s hanging out everybody is always like FUCK they’re gonna be there????? Like we are truly insufferable like gojo brings out the annoying in me nanami is like u are so fun to hang out when he’s not here and I’m like yeah I know but consider that I have more fun when he’s here and gojo overhears this and is like oh my heart literally belongs to her!!! cool!!!!!
Ummmmm I think it finally hits me that I am In Love with him For Real and I’m still like oh he thinks this is a joke he thinks it’s funny to say he’s gonna marry me (he’s dead serious and he’s not laughing) and I’m insane so I’m like hey can u stop doing that pls and he’s like oh u hate me and u want me to die and that causes like a little rift between us until hes like banging at my door like wtf wait no????? I’m in love with u and I’ve been trying to tell u the whole time Ive know u….and I’m like wtf I thought u were joking…..and he’s like WHY and I’m like bc u just say shit!!!!!
And anyways we’re like grossly in love and probably have nasty marathon sex (yes with lots of biting!!!!) and then we become even MORE codependent than before which is saying a lot cause wow were we codependent but now it’s like disgusting everyone hates us so bad and this time gojo keeps trying to propose and I’m like hahaha how funny and he’s like😐😐😐😐
There’s also like conflict because once we’re together gojo is like let me take care of u pls depend on me and I’m like no I’m independent I’m my own person separate from u and he’s like nooooooo🥺🥺🥺🥺we belong to each other🥺🥺🥺and I secretly really love that he keeps trying to take care of me but it does go against my entire being but he will break me down bc he’s good at that<3333

OKay gotta distract myself from constantly refreshing my fic and staring at numbers, by continuing my spop rewatch
If you're new here: I'm rewatching all of She-Ra for fic writing purposes, and live-blogging it, with too many screenshots. None of this is spoiler-free. I make a lot of jokes and talk about my life and make references to other shit.
Also, I find Catra's villainy to be kinda hot (okay more than just kinda hot)
s4 ep1 the coronation
"April did you rewatch the Portal scene again"
Yes, because that's where I left it paused, mind your own business
OKAY so I remember this from the first time I watched it, like, four years ago--that of all the emotional stuff this show gets 100% correct, I'm not sure Glimmer's grief over her mother is all that accurately portrayed. She just seems to "get over it" too fast?
By which I mean: yes, it's the focus of this episode, but that's basically it.
When my dad died--and keep in mind I'd been no contact for six months, I'd already done most of my grieving for him!--I was so out of it I couldn't even read anything longer than a few paragraphs for multiple months. All my writing basically screeched to a halt. And Glimmer likes her mom!
BUT tbh I keep remembering someone pointing out that each season covers WAY more time than I originally assumed. Because the first time I watched this I assumed we were like, literally a week or two after the events at the end of s3. It's probably closer to several months. And that makes way more sense.
Also who else is confused as to what "princess" and "queen" even mean in this universe, like there are several princesses who are clearly in charge of their kingdoms? is just when their parents DIE that they become queens? if so wtf is wrong with Frosta's parents "lol you're eight now, time for you to be in charge of literally everything, and you'll never see us again"??
Tumblr media
okay but literally did they only ask Mermista to do the flowers as a joke bc I am literally sad for her now :(
Tumblr media
There she is!!! 😍
Also I read some (old) commentary from Nate about why her hair is flatter this season and nooooooo
Tumblr media
oh hey remember that you tied up Adora
okay do you remember this specific time you tied up Adora lolol
Tumblr media
"Don't talk about my ex-girlfriend!!! it's a very sensitive topic *sobs*"
Tumblr media
Glimmer's coronation robe is so great. I wonder if, like IRL ones, it's made out some insanely hard-to-get fur and weighs approximately five tons.
Tumblr media
The line delivery of "BOW! CALM DOWN!" made me laugh so hard I had to play it for other people and then watch it again.
Tumblr media
"Power changes people"
Not everyone is like you!!! >:(
(if anything, responsibility is more likely to change Glimmer)
Tumblr media
poor bb
Tumblr media
it's Entrapta's little naked mole rat robot!! which is also somehow also a squeaky toy??
Tumblr media
Scorpia wants SO BAD to find a way to see Catra as not a terrible person
Tumblr media
the robot didn't deserve that
Tumblr media
"Don't talk about my ex-girlfriend!!! it's a very sensitive topic *sobs*" (pt 2)
Tumblr media
Scorpia is such a cinnamon roll
Tumblr media
Adora literally only owns like three outfits. And this is her "nice dress."
Tumblr media
Bow's dad's!!
Also this is framed so much like a wedding, even the music is wedding-ish
Tumblr media
I'M NOT SAYING A DAMN THING ABOUT THIS
Tumblr media
A FRIEND
Tumblr media
okay maybe not
Tumblr media
I'm sticking with my theory that this is several months after the end of s3 which means she's been like this (unable to teleport) for a while
Tumblr media
Yeah, people have discussed this a great deal, re: grief: most people want to talk about the people they've lost, if you give them a safe time/place to do it. You don't have to avoid the subject.
Tumblr media
;_;
Tumblr media
I once again ask myself: where were you keeping the sword this whole time lolol
Tumblr media
NICE (Glimmer put the fancy lantern into the little niche for it)
Tumblr media
Aziraphale? Is that you?
Tumblr media
IT'S SO CUTE
Tumblr media
I wonder when Angella recorded this
Tumblr media
YEAH!
Tumblr media
where did you get the new outfit 2. isn't your other arm cold 3. she's fucking purring
Tumblr media
She says this the exact same way she says "Hey, Adora" and I went "EUGGGH" out loud
Tumblr media
Some people were like, "oh, her redemption arc in s5 was so rushed" and meanwhile I'm like, "I wish they'd made her deranged and mean a little longer, actually. For Reasons."
Anyway I've run out of images unless I reblog the post, SO: she yanks the little crystal thing Entrapta made out of Hordak's suit so he collapses and then taunts him with the knowledge that Horde Prime is not gonna be happy to find out he can't even subdue the Rebellion, basically puts herself in charge, end of episode
WOOOOO

What is it with the three "bad" Robins and their lack of friends :( they deserve to have a lot of friends and connection with other heroes outside of Gotham. Like don't you think it makes sense for them to have a lot of friends, Steph with her personality and Jason + Damian with the lack of them during their childhood. It makes sense but dc >:(
oh my god youre gonna regret sending me this because i have so much to say
first of all youre literally so right :( its so upsetting that they dont get to have meaningful connections to other people because they've all been heroes for a long time so its fucked up that they dont get friends!!
like with jason he honestly just. didnt have enough time to make friends when he was robin :( he had eddie because eddie was like the only other sidekick at the time that wasnt a titan. like if jason lived he would've probably been friends with young justice (and honestly. just the thought of that feels wrong fhksajfhafk the idea of jason being friends with yj just does not sit right with me) but there just. weren't enough other heroes his age at the time for him to be friends with anyone as robin :( THEN when he came back obv he didnt have friends until rhato but even then???? they put him with roy and kory who both had to be written out of character just for it to make sense for him to be friends with them. so he was really fucked over in that regard (but not as much as roy and kory were fucked over) then he was friends with bizarro and artemis and??? obv bizarro wasnt going to exist much outside of rhato, and as an amazon artemis isnt really going to be hanging out with jason or anything outside of one of his books. so he just??? doesnt get to have friends that make sense and he doesnt form meaningful friendships since the people hes been paired with dont have lasting power in their relationships with him :(
STEPH however. it literally makes me so sad that she doesnt have friends because!!!! she had SO many friends in batgirl 2009 !!! she was constantly teaming up with other people and working with others and doing so many good things :( the last issue has a team up with her, supergirl, miss martian, bombshell, and stargirl and!!! i think about that team up all the time :( :( not to mention someone told me one time that the writer planned a team up with steph kara and mia but they weren't able to do it because the universe reset >:( steph had so many friends and then she was wiped out of existence after the new52 :(!!!!! she was besties with kara in that book and now they dont even know each other :( :( :( and she doesnt have any friends outside of gotham anymore because she didnt exist for years and hasn't been written well ever since :( im fine. its fine. im fine.
and damian. oh my god. its literally so fucked up. dont get me wrong i LOVE his friendship with jon but. oh my god. damian just does not have people other than jon :( he even had a teen titans team and then????? the writer made him super evil and had him like?? run a private prison in the tower or something??? idk i refuse to read the book. but he could have been FRIENDS with them!!! he WAS friends with them!!! but nooooooo damian is the evil robin! he cant have friends hes mean and no one likes him! /s :( he could have been friends with them if the writer was just normal about it. not to mention!!! even his friendship with jon is so sad bc they aged jon up and now their dynamic is just. completely different. so damian basically gets left behind by his friend that suddenly aged like 8 years without him and now its all completely different :(
i just. ugh. the only reason they dont have friends is because dc and the writers are basically working against them and not giving them people that they could actually form relationships with or theyre fucking them over and taking people away from them. it literally makes me so upset and i love these three so much i am going to kill someone about it

just answering some asks real quick, no writing today but i am working on some n'sfw art of my fave lesbian beastfolk characters. hoping to finish and share that one (but sadly censored) tonight!
cw: mentions of a certain horror hentai, beastfolks
Tumblr media
thank you for the quick reply! I am super psyched about the possibility of a book of beast au, like holy moly I'd read it/buy it! And no worries on me selling the fan idea or claiming your idea, its more like me doing fanfiction of my fav author work as fan love ;3 —anonymous
dawwwwwww thank you!! <3 you're a sweetheart!!! do whatever you want! i'm super down to see your (and literally anyone else's) takes on my au~ we need more furry beastman x human tbh.
still a slim possibility tho! it'd be more of a compilation book more than anything as it'd be easier for me to do than to do chapter by chapter thing (and honestly, i wouldn't know who to focus on! i accidentally made the au too vast, rip). the only thing that would kinda suck is having to come up with the identity of mc's in each story, since it's super nice not having to think too much about who the mc is when i write reader x monster. i don't think reader x stories would sell well, though, and especially not the dead dove kind.
but that's alright, it just means i can write the mc's being in the minority if and when i wanted to c: disabled mc's are not something you'd see represented often being one myself and i'd so much love to contribute somehow.
Tumblr media
Have you seen puss in boots? —anonymous
i dont...watch many movies lmao but im guessing this is about death the wolf? my friends were all over him! even the ones who aren't into yandere/dd stuffs.
i'll have to see if i can find that film on netflix or prime then and make some time for it
Tumblr media
Omg, I didn’t listen to you and I read that hentai fully out of curiosity and wow that’s fucked (and scary) —anonymous
oh nonnie NOOOOOOO-
you poor soul D: it IS a horror hentai though, i should've specified in the initial post (sorry!), but fuck some of them are...
yeah, half of it is extremely fucked indeed. ymmv, but outside the ones involving...minors (shudders), the cow head and the monkey on train are just...no, with the former especially being the worst one and probably the most fucked up of them all. the tall lady and the scarecrows/women in the field would've been...passable to good if they hadn't involved minors, simply because i liked the initial premises. :\ the snake-god would've been a 10/10 for me if the mc is older and less...bratty, but as it is, 8/10 and all of the points i gave were because of the monster's gorgeous unique take on lamia/naga design (that monster lady is a chef's kiss and makes my gay ass heart happy) and her tragic backstory.
idk about the 6-armed snake-god one specifically, but i've heard/read that all the others were based on the Japanese lores. the cow one was supposedly already super gross in the first place though the artist could've just...not do that one and the rest, yeah.
i was able to deal with the statue ones and the worm god fine because...at least they all looked like adults who fell into bad situations they couldn't get out of. the monster on the road is...well, it'd be better if it didn't look like an old man :\ rest i just straight up skimmed through with my eyes half shut and completely skipping the cow head one first few pages in.
…sufficient to say, i only read monster / horror hentai's based on friends' recs than looking for them myself these days. way too many involving minors, which is…unfortunate. yucks.
i'm very, very sorry i led you down there and endured all of that, nonnie dear. D:> i'll go back and edit that post to warn others.

The Vampire Diaries, Ep. 1x14
Fool Me Once
this title just reminds me of fool for love, which is a damn good episode of btvs. this episode suffers in comparison.
we begin the episode with an excellent joke from my girlfiend (who made so many good jokes during this episode): 'new white boy just dropped? maybe he just dropped dead!' unfortunately, he had not. then, elena looks into the bathtub to see what looked like a dead girl. being a fan of charlie on supernatural, i felt my heart drop. the panic was rising. then elena got closer and we learned it was bonnie and she's not dead. phew.
then, i wrote 'damon i hope you die horrifically,' which i don't remember what he did to deserve. oh yes, he said he hopes elena dies to stefan's face after she's been kidnapped. i understand that he's hurt by elena's betrayal, but this is an extreme reaction. damon makes it so hard to like him.
then we go to a party and i have an extreme reaction: 'nooooooo! (what's this guy's name again?) fuck face! he back' and i wish he wasn't. caroline is wearing a really cute coat. she and matt are also really cute. i want them to stay together for a while because i think they're good for each other.
then, we see damon going to bonnie's grandma to try to find her. and then he gets fucked up! she puts pressure on his head and it seems like he's going to explode. unfortunately, he does not. but bonnie's grandma is such a badass and i love her. this does lead me to a question: are witches uncompellable? i don't remember elena giving bonnie any vervain, but no vampire ever tries to compel her or her grandmother.
then, we get a very compelling scene between damon and elena. elena tries to convince damon that she's not lying to him again. in this course, she asks him why he didn't compel her when they went to georgia. his reply is quite sweet: 'i didn't compel you in atlanta because we were having fun. i wanted it to be real.'
then the idiot trio head to the burned out church and pass by the party. damon is incredibly mean to matt. on the other hand, matt is better than damon and matt doesn't deserve to be subjected to damon. caroline gives matt more speeches, even though, to quote my notes, 'caroline i support you in everything but none of the things you called speeches actually were.' we also learn that fuck face is trying to buy weed from jeremy. then jmpsg shows up and he tells her 'you kinda like dead people huh,' which is actually hilarious.
down in the crypt, we learn that damon brought a blood bag for katherine because he's so sweet in such a weird twisted way. i was also beginning to feel a bit bad for him as we got closer to the end of the episode. there are eight episodes left in the season; he's not going to find katherine. and he's so excited. it's a bit heartbreaking.
bonnie and her grandma start the spell, and then we learn that elena doesn't know anything. she says that the witches are not chanting in latin. which is patently false. it sounds so much like latin! in fact, i recognized some words from my high school latin class. also, there is so much space under this church. the surviving bits of foundation seem so small, but this is a huge underground complex, so what's going on?
then nwbjd and jmpsg show up. stefan takes out his flamethrower, prompting another great joke from my girlfriend. 'oh my god he's got a flamethrower' (me) 'that's hot as hell...literally' (her)
underground, damon has not found katherine. which begs the question: where the fuck is she? we learn from jmpsg that katherine was never sealed in the tomb. she's been in the world this whole time. 'she knew where you were, damon. she didn't care.' this is truly heartbreaking. i hate to feel bad for damon in the same episode where he said he hopes elena dies, but he's just so pathetic. of course, he's also fucked everything up since he threw that blood bag at the wall and blood dripped into the mouth of at least one vampire who escapes at the end of the episode. before that, there are two points to deal with.
one: jeremy is now curious about vampires. i can't express it any funnier than i did in my notes: 'okay now he’s going to google—i’m sorry, bing—vampires.'
more importantly, bonnie's grandma, the best side character on the show thus far (possibly the best character period) has died. i did not sign up for this.

can you write a drabble of s/o age regressing after a scary situation and maybe hawks or dabi (whatever you feel) hugging them and just general fluff and comfort? I totally understand if you don't wanna write this so no pressure!!
Yeppers! As someone who experiences something similar to age regression/ little space, this will be based on my own experiences
Tumblr media
Genre: Hurt/comfort
Type: headcanons/drabble
Warnings: Age regression/little space, crying, Manga spoilers for Dabi's backstory, reader being adorable
Other: I'm not %100 sure if I'd call my experience 'little space,' it's something that only showed up in the past year or so. Also, I usually only go into 'little space' when I'm very happy or comfortable or I'm doing something childish, and even after talking to people who actually age regress, I'm not sure what to call my experience.
Fluff Taglist: @smolchildfangirl @combat-wombatus @mandalorian-baby-bird @waffleareniceandfluffy @catcherisvibin @thesubtlewhore @popcatx0
Touya Todoroki/Dabi-
Tumblr media
I feel like he doesn't understand it at first; like mans has never even heard of people who age regress until he met you.
When you first mentioned it to him, he was so confused.
"Okay so- hang on what?"
The first time you actually do it in front of him he literally has no idea what to do, he's so confused and probably more scared than you are.
He has the best intentions, but he did lock you in a room and call Toga for advice when you started to cry.
When you got big again, you were pissed.
And reasonably so.
It took a while, but he eventually got used to your little space and figured out what to do when you did this.
There was a point where he tried to deny how cute he thought it was- you acting like a child and doing childlike things.
He uses it as an opportunity to atone for the things he did as a child to his younger siblings, and as a way to feel like he can actually take care of something.
"Y/n, I'm back!" The door swung shut behind him as he stepped into your apartment, looking around, he couldn't see you. The whole place was a mess, books torn off their shelves and even some broken dishes in the kitchen.
Dabi frowned, he'd seen your apartment like this a couple of times before, usually what happens when you absolutely can't take it anymore.
He peeked inside your room, finding you sprawled on top of the sheets with your clothes still on, fast asleep.
He wished you'd called him, he knew he told you he was on a mission and not to bother him but if you had called he would've dropped anything and everything to appear by your side to comfort you throughout whatever caused this. He crept into your bedroom quietly, pulling the blankets you had kicked onto the ground up and over your body, turning the lights off.
He sighed, grabbing the broom and sweeping up the glass from the broken plate, and throwing it away. He put everything back in its place, even vacuuming the carpet so it was nice and soft when you woke up.
He was just finishing wiping down the counters when he heard you coming out of the bedroom. He turned his head to see you waddling towards him, rubbing your eyes and yawning.
"Touya?" you murmured, looking up at him "What are you doing here?"
"I live here too, y'know, it's only natural I come here in my free time," he explained. He felt your arms wrap around him, face pressing into his back.
"Warm..." your voice was soft, and he had to stop himself from burying his face into his arms to escape from the pure ball of cuteness that was hugging him. "Wanna cuddle."
He glanced over his shoulder at you, finding you staring up at him with a pout on your face, oh yeah you were definitely in 'smol mode' as he sometimes called it.
"Wanna cuddle, hm? Sorry baby you gotta wait until I'm finished cleaning."
"Nooooooo" you whined, slowly sliding down his body until you were clutching his leg. "Want cuddles!"
"Just let me fini-"
"Do that later! Cuddles now!"
Dabi chuckled, pressing a hand to his face.
"I can't- I just can't you're too cute like this." He shook his head, laughing now. "Okay fine, I'll cuddle you ya clingy lil baby~"
"Yayyy!" you were on your feet a moment later, arms in the air, giggling "I wanna wear your coat!" you pointed at his jacket, and he chuckled again, shrugging it off his shoulders and flinging it onto your back, helping your arms into the sleeves that were just a little too big for your body.
He pressed his lips against your forehead, looking down at you, he only saw pure love and admiration staring back up at you.
He had to protect this little bundle of joy in his life, this human that made him feel so happy, he would never let anything bad happen to you. When you were big again, he'd ask you what happened, and he'd make sure you'd call him if you were ever stressed.
But he did like the adorable faces you made when you were little.
Keigo Takami/Hawks-
Tumblr media
He's a pro hero, he's done his research; so he knows what 'little space' is before he meets you.
But I can promise the commission probably made it seem like something gross, but you're his partner, he knows you're not some horrible person, so maybe he understands age regression wrong.
So.
Many.
Questions.
Like constant questions- it almost feels like he's interrogating you, like seriously it's getting old, Keigo
But he's so precious you kind of have to answer his questions.
Like Dabi, he finds you acting little to be the most adorable thing in the world, sometimes he leaves kid's stuff around the house hoping to trigger your little space so he can hold you and play with you.
He thinks of it as practice for when the two of you have children
The one day Keigo has off, to regrow his wings, all he really wants to do it sleep. Just lay in bed, wrapped up in his blankets and just dream and nap and snore and do nothing.
But little ole you had other plans.
"Keigooooooooo!"
The blonde bird boy shot upright in bed upon hearing your distressed call. He sped down the hall into the living room, panicked, only to find you sitting on the carpet with a box of crayons next to you, a coloring book open, page half filled in.
You looked up at Keigo with wide tear-filled eyes, shakily holding up the blue crayon snapped in half. Your lower lip quivered as you whimpered.
"I-it broke!" you cried, "I'm sorry it broke, Kei!" Keigo melted on the spot, slightly annoyed that you woke him up for something so small, but also-
Holy fuck you were just the cutest thing in the world.
He hoped your only stress would forever be broken crayons.
"It's okay, Y/n, things break sometimes, you're not in trouble." he cooed, sitting down next to you and patting your head.
"But- but it broke!" you exclaimed, sniffling
"It still functions though, doesn't it?" He scooched the coloring book closer to you, and you pressed the pointed end of the crayon against the paper, coloring the smiling puppy dog's nose blue.
You lit up, a bright smile spreading across your face, you cheered, bouncing up and down and hugging Keigo.
"It still works! It still works, Kei!" he giggled, holding you close to his body and enjoying the way you laughed.
"That's right! There's nothing that can't be resolved!" He pressed a kiss to your cheek, but couldn't hold himself back from attacking your entire face with little kisses.
"Keiiii noooo that tickles!" you giggled, pushing at him gently.
"One more? Please, baby?" he pleaded, pouting a little.
"Okiii!" you sat up, pressing your lips to his, pulling back with a laugh. "Can I have a juice box?"
"Of course," Keigo's face softened, you were just too precious, too cute, to perfect.
He really did hope the only thing you'd ever worry about was the crayon.

fake dating the main three

requests are: open!
Tumblr media
ㅡ bakugo
i spent the whole day thinking about how he'll agree to fake date. let's just say he's the one in need.
his mom has been bothering him for a long time now. she wants to see katsuki bring home a partner for them to meet.
it's a pain in the ears and he's very TIRED so he decided to just fake date somebody.
the only person he can tolerate in class a aside from kirishima is you. he doesn't care about the other extras.
he'll search for you in the heights' lounge area and ask to talk.
"hey, can we talk?" he grumbles, "uhh, sure? do you want to talk here or somewhere private?" "somewhere private."
when you guys are in a more private area, he'd glare at you for a minute, it'll make you wonder if you did something wrong, before finally speaking.
"date me for a fucking day."
you'll snort at what he said and laugh thinking it was a joke but the annoyed and impatient look on his face says otherwise.
"wait.. are you for real?" "what do you think, shithead?"
bakugo trusts you so much that you have this significant role to play in his life.
you agreed, of course. it's the bakugo katsuki asking for your help. a once in a lifetime chance. (you just like him, stop making things up)
he brings you to the bakugo household the day after and his house is BIG big.
mitsuki, his mom, welcomes you with a big smile and a hug. he then glares at his son, "WHY ARE YOU ONLY BRINGING THIS PRETTY LITTLE CREATURE NOW, YOU BRAT?" "SHUT UP, OLD HAG! BE NICE OR I AIN'T BRINGING THEM HERE NO MORE."
masaru, who's just sitting there at the couch like nothing's happening, gives you a wave.
the dinner was good. his mom's a great cook, his father's a chatterbox. what surprised you the most was how quiet katsuki is. you're not sure why. maybe he's like this at home? quiet, calm, just serene.
"it's not everyday i see a person who can tame my brat of a son. i can see why he likes you, (y/n)." his mom beams at you, "you're pretty, a kind little one too. take care of my son, will ya?"
not knowing what to say, you smiled at her and said what's currently inside your mind, "if he'll let me, i'll take care of him for the rest of my life." you looked down, "but knowing katsuki, he doesn't need anyone to take care of him. he's strong and independent and he knows it. it'll hurt his pride if someone helps him without him asking them to." you smiled to yourself, "i just hope he knows that when he needs me, i'll always be here for him."
mitsuki smiled at you in awe. you have the mother's approval, congrats!
katsuki just stared at you with furrowed eyebrows, masaru pats his back, "good job, son. i'm happy for you."
he then murmured a protest before drinking his water.
time passed by and it's eventually your time to say goodbye to the bakugos.
mitsuki hugs you for the last time and ask you to come have dinner with them again, masaru pats your head and thanks you for being there for his son.
both of you were in a car provided by the school for safety protocols when he spoke, "did you mean it?"
you looked at him, confused, "mean what?" "what you said earlier to my mom, shithead. did you mean it?" "well, yeah. i mean it when i say i'll always be here for you."
he wore this unreadable and unclear expression on his face. he looks mad? confused? no one knows.
"why?" he asked, "why what?" "WHY DO YOU KEEP MAKING ME REPEAT MYSELF. WHY DID YOU SAY IT?" "YOU'RE A FRIEND OF MINE, THAT'S IT."
he chuckled bitterly, "a friend. that's fucking funny. i literally though you also like me for a second."
huh.. what does he mean? also? you laughed nervously, "hey, did i hear you right? thought i heard 'also' there."
"you're fucking dense, aren't you? do you want me to scream it straight at your face? i fucking like you."
you froze. yes, but embarrassment caught up and you covered your reddened face, "WHY ARE YOU SUDDENLY CONFESSING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT? WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO SAY?"
"I AIN'T EXPECTING YOU TO SAY ANYTHING, SHITHEAD!" "I LIKE YOU TOO!" "SHUT THE FUCK UP I DON'T WANT YOUR PITY OF A CONFESSION." "IT'S NOT A PITY OF A CONFESSION BUT FINE! I DON'T LIKE YOU." "OKAY THEN. I'M BRINGING SOMEONE ELSE NEXT DINNER AND TELL THE OLD HAG WE BROKE UP." "NOOOOOOO!!"
Tumblr media
ㅡ todoroki
i was contemplating whether to have him help fake date or have him need help. it's fitting if he's the one in need so i decided just that.
he might seem dense and clueless most of the time but he's the epitome of evilness.
he talks about you all the time that's why fuyumi has taken a liking to you and asked shoto to invite you to dinner with them.
shoto sees this as a chance. he'll take advantage of the situation because he knows you won't say no.
he goes to where you are sitting, "i apologize but my sister, fuyumi, she thinks we're dating. she wants to invite you to dinner at our house later." he said that with a straight face but this mf is smirking on the inside.
"uhhh, okay? sure? but uhm, why would she think we're dating?" "she thinks everyone close to me is dating me. she's like that.. yes. fuyumi likes you the most, i think. that's.. uh, that's why she's inviting you to dinner." (I HC HIM AS A BAD LIAR)
sounds suspicious and weird, but okay? you have a lot of question in mind.
"i would go. but how should i act? why didn't you tell her we aren't dating though?" "i don't want to disappoint my sister. you can act like you're dating me, if it's fine with you. just for a day."
"sure, sure! just tell me where and what time. i'll be there." "no, you can come with me. we'll go there together."
he brings you to the todoroki household after class. their house is soooo pretty. it's a traditional japanese house.
fuyumi was the first one to greet you, with her sparkling eyes and bright smile, she held both your hands gently and said, "i'm so glad you came! i've been wanting to ask shoto to have you come eat with us. thank you for coming!"
natsuo jogged from the back and gave you a cool wave, "hey, (y/n). how was it dealing with shoto?"
you faked sighed, "awful. how did you deal with him for the last 16 years?" "we never did." "oh.... OH NO I'M SORRY!" "HAHAHA. it's fine, i'm just kidding. no biggie."
enji won't be home for the day. he's busy doing number 1 hero works.
the dinner was fun. it was the funniest dinner you have ever had.
shoto's quietness is the exact opposite of natsuo's talkativeness. that man is talkative and funny as fuck. throwing jokes everywhere. it was entertaining.
all shoto did was take care of you. he serves you all the food you point at, gets you water, he even went too close for comfort and wiped a stain just above your lips. it made you blush, yes. you don't know why but it left you lightheaded. (you're in love with him, that's why)
fuyumi.. our beautiful and beloved fuyumi.
she exposed his brother's ass.
"aww. you guys are so cute together. ah! (y/n), do you remember that time when.. uhm, kaminari was it? i forgot his name but do you remember that time where he told you, midoriya, and the girls to wear a maid costume for the festival because your class is having a maid cafe booth? shoto told me you were so pretty that time! he hated how the boys in your class looked at you like you were some sweet treat, isn't that right, shoto?"
"and do you remember when you fought bakugo at the sports festival? where it was a close fight and you gave him a hard time? shoto said you won if the decision was up to him and that you were so cool!"
and she went on and on.
shoto was red as a tomato (or even redder) beside you. he was clutching his pants as if he was asking the floor to just eat him up.
you decided to ask him about this later to not uncover the fake dating plan.
dinner ended after a little talking, fuyumi gave you leftovers to take home which you will not reject because her cooking is divine, and asked you to come again after giving you a big and warm hug.
natsuo gave you a high five and thanked you for coming. he also thanked you for laughing at his jokes. he feels like he's very funny now.
both said goodbye to shoto.
the journey back to the heights was quiet but not awkward. it seems like shoto knew you have a lot in mind.
you spoke when he's about to open the main door. "what was that?" he looked at you with a confused expression, "the one at dinner."
"ah, if it isn't obvious yet after my sister opened her mouth, i like you. i have been for a long time now." he said that with a deadpan expression, "it annoyed me at first, it annoyed me that you're in my mind whenever i try to sleep, you're in my mind everytime i wake up. it annoyed me that i want nothing more than to hold you near me, hold your hands, warm you up with my fire everytime you feel cold, hug you, kiss you." he sighed frustratedly, "i just want to do everything with you... i'm sorry. i'm not good with words."
WELL YOU DID NOT EXPECT HIM TO BE THIS STRAIGHTFORWARD.
but again, this is todoroki shoto.
"..what? shoto... i didn't know you felt that way. why didn't you tell me?" you asked him concernedly, you lifted your hand to hold his face but stopped halfway thinking maybe he doesn't want to be touched.
but then he held your hand and guided it to hold his face, "i didn't actually plan to confess but when people started talking about how good of a hero you'd become in the future and when everyone started saying they all want to date you, that's when i decided it's now or never." he looked at your eyes, "i don't want to lose this chance. that's why i started telling fuyumi stories about you and asking her what to do."
"is that why your sister thought we were dating?" "yes. she knows about how i feel for you. she told me to confess and i told her i did and that it went well. i lied to her. i don't know why."
you coughed, "so, she doesn't really think everyone close to you is dating you?" "yes." "you lied to me?" "yes, i apologize."
"you could have told me you like me too!?" "it's not that easy to confess. plus, i really wanted to know how everything will go. it went well, i'm satisfied. you like me too, right?" "i do, shoto. i like you so much." he smiled at you, that rare fucking smile he knows is pretty, "that's enough for me."
"BUT YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF EVERYTHING?" "yes. yes, i did." "WHAT THE HELL'S WRONG WITH YOU!!?" "date me, (y/n)" "OKAY!"
Tumblr media
ㅡ midoriya
a lot of guys from the other class have been bothering you. they kept on asking for your number and stuff. one even sent you flowers and a box of chocolates.
you appreciate it if you're being honest. what you don't appreciate is them sticking to you the whole lunch.
you told mina what's happening and she told you that the best shot of getting off those admirers of yours is to date somebody.
you don't wanna to that though. aside from focusing on studies, you have feelings for this certain someone with green messy hair and freckles. you don't want to date someone just to use them and lie to them.
"you know, what if you just get your shit together and confess to midoriya?" "MINA, BE QUIET! SOMEONE MIGHT HEAR YOU!" "confess to midoriya!" she whispired.
"or just ask him to date you until your followers stop following you around?" kaminari interjects, "what, you mean like, fake date him?" "yeah. something like that." "you're really useful sometimes, aren't you?" "shut up, mina."
you've thought about it all night. would izuku think i'm using him? would he reject the idea? would he be mad about it?
after contemplating, you finally went out of your room and walked straight at his door. he opened it with a smile after 3 knocks.
"hey, (y/n)! how can i help you?"
you looked at him nervously. what you were about to ask is a big part to act. "i will get straight to the point. some people from the other classes have been bothering me for a while now. they keep on following me and asking for my number even though i rejected them all the time. i want to ask you if you could date me? IT'S FAKE! OF COURSE. will you please fake date me until they get off me? i, uh, i'm not taking advantage of your kindness. i promise. right?" you said with a shaking voice.
he laughed at your rambling, "no need to be nervous, (y/n)! i would love to do the honors and fake date you! it's like an undercover hero mission. it's so cool! when do we start?"
you smiled at his enthusiasms. izuku is really the kindest person here on earth. you told him what to do, who those people are, etc. your fake dating starts tomorrow.
izuku was waiting outside your door when you opened it, he has his usual beaming smile when you saw him, "hi, (y/n)! ready to start our mission?" he's surely so into this whole thing.
you both walked down the lounge area holding each other's hand. everyone was gaping at the sight except todoroki who remained munching on his sandwich and bakugo who, well, "fucking finally you idiots." he said.
izuku let go of your hand and held both his hands up while shaking his head in a panicky manner, "no, no! we're just fake dating. i'm helping (y/n) get rid of their admirers! they said it was bothering them!"
"okay. but (y/n), why deku?" the motherfucker was smirking at you. todoroki, bless him, caught the panic in your eyes and called bakugo off. "that's enough, bakugo. leave them alone." "tsk! fucking icyhot a fucking killjoy."
most of your admirers stopped following you after they saw you holding hands with izuku. he's been doing a lot for you. he tried to tie your hair at training and brought you water. nothing much happened inside the classroom because everyone knows it's just a show. lots of outsiders believe you're dating izuku. some still bothers you from time to time especially at lunch.
you were sitting with bakugo, todoroki, kirishima, and of course, izuku, when a group of 3 went to your table (they're brave. no one would come bother bakugo's table because everyone's terrified of him.)
"hey, (y/n). can you give me your number now? i just wanted to get to know you better." "(y/n) give me your number! i'll send you lots of chocolates. i promise!" "they're liars but i'm not. i'd take you to your favorite movie this sunday of you'll give me your number?"
you pursed your lips in an annoyed manner, your friends are here and they're embarrassing you. you were about to speak when izuku beats you to it, "please stop bothering (y/n). it's obvious that my partner doesn't want to give you their number."
the group stared at each other with bewildered expressions on their faces, one looked at izuki and asked, "partner? you mean, combat partner or boyfriend? (y/n)'s dating someone?"
izuku wore a prideful expression on his face, "yes, i am their boyfriend and they're dating someone. that's why with all due respect, please leave them alone."
the 3 backed out and apologized. not everyone has the same personality as mineta. the person who seemed like their leader walked forward and bowed, "we're so sorry. we should've stopped when they rejected us the first time. they're just so intriguing that's why we wanted to know more about them. we're really sorry." with that, they left.
you faced izuku and thanked him. it was nice to finally walk and look around without seeing unfamiliar faces follow you. "thank you so much, izuku! you saved me. really."
he smilled at you, "it's nothing! i'd do anything for (y/n)." izuku froze at what he said and started chuckling anxiously, "i.. i didn't mean it like that! hahaha! but if you need anything, i, uhm, i'd always be glad to help." you stared at him and said, "me too, izuku. i'd always be glad to help you! you can come to me everytime you need something." he blushed at what you said.
"FUCKING IDIOTS JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY! I'M TIRED OF HEARING BOTH YOUR SHIT! CONFESS TO EACH OTHER GODDAMNIT!" "oi bakugo. that's not how to do it." "SHUT UP SHITTY HAIR!" "bakugo, you're too noisy." "YOU HALF AND HALF BASTARD I'M TIRED OF YOU TOO!"
izuku coughed tensely, "(y/n), can i talk to you outside? i just need to tell you something." you nodded, "of course!" you both stood up and left the table of wild animals.
when the two of you got outside, izuku's hands were obviously shaking so without a thought, you held it. "are you okay?" "I AM... i am." "why are you acting like this? did something happen?" you asked worriedly.
"no, everything's fine. i just.. i don't know how it started but i just woke up one day thinking how i'd love you to be mine. i want to walk you to school, i want to tell everyone i'm your boyfriend, i want to kiss you good night. haha, is it to much to ask, (y/n)? i like you a lot." he told you that nervously, the boy was shaking and sweating.
"i can't believe it... izuku, i like you too. oh god, are you serious?" "i am, haha! i didn't know you feel the same. i'm really happy!" "i didn't know you feel the same too! half of our classmates knew that i like you. katsuki's just too noisy. he literally told everyone when you did extra training." "(y/n).. kacchan also knows about my feelings for you! he told todoroki and kirishima. is that why he's so persistent in getting us together?" "i don't know. that's just how he is."
you both were awkward as fuck but izuku asked if you'd like to date for real and you said yes.
when you came back to the table, it was bakugo who spoke first, "are you idiots finally together?" you replied to him with a middle finger which aggravated the blondie, "YOU FUCKER!"

An Impostor In Love
Sequel to ‘Love For The Faceless’ (’Body Reveal’)
Corpse Husband x Reader (Female)
Warnings: Swearing (maybe)
Genre: Fluff
Summary: Rae can’t stay mad at her best friends forever. Them being absolutely adorable doesn’t help her ‘pissed off’ act either. Y/N’s outing Corpse like she’s a human lie detector. Corpse is gushing about her every second word that comes out of his mouth. And the rest of the lobby are getting one hell of a kick out of the Among Us romantic comedy - An Impostor In Love
Requested but, once again, not in a typical way. I honestly wasn’t expecting all the positive feedback I got for Love For The Faceless (Body Reveal). I was star-struck! You guys are so amazing I have no words to describe just how much I love you all! Thank you for everything! This story is for all of you 🥰🥰🥰
“Mr. and Mrs. ‘Totally not dating’ have entered the call!“ Sean announces when I hop into the Discord call to play Among Us with the usual gang. I hear Corpse’s laugh from down the hall, bringing a smile to my face.
We’ve gotten used to playing in this arrangement, a few rooms away from each other, ever since we moved in together - Corpse is in his recording room and I am in our shared bedroom. When one dies, they go in the other’s room to troll them. I’m usually the one dead, but that’s besides the point.
“Hi everyone!“ I say in my typical cheery tone before kicking it done a few notches, making it an octave deeper just to say: “Hi Rae.”
The whole lobby laughs, they all know what I’m trying to do here. Everyone’s aware this is the first time Rae is in the same call and lobby as Corpse and I after you-know-which incident. Sure, I’ve been poking sticks at her, waving a white flag and admitting I was wrong several times by now. Who knew my sweetheart best friend could act so cold? I know it’s a front. I know she’s fighting to stay mad. There’s a ton of pressure on her to finally forgive us, but she’s been holding up better than I would be if I were in her situation.
I honestly felt, and still feel, slightly guilty. I know best friends are supposed to tell each other everything. They are supposed to be the first ones to know whatever’s going on in each other’s lives. And I know I broke one of the main rules of friendships, but the decision wasn’t only mine to make. I’m sure she understands where I’m coming from, she’s just giving me and Corpse a hard time.
“Hello, Y/N.” She replies, her tone strictly formal.
“Progress, people! Progress!“ I say joyously, the smile turning into a grin
“Don’t worry, babe. We’ll get her eventually.“ Corpse reassures me as he’s done for the past week or two. He knew I wasn’t as unbothered by Rae’s anger towards me as I tried to appear - a pro and simultaneously a con of living with someone: they pick up on everything about you. You become as familiar to them as the back of their hand.
“I know, I know.“ I giggle, “She’ll cave.“
“Yeah, good luck with that.“ Rae has dropped the formal tone, now sounding like a stubborn child which is something I’m way more familiar with. I’ve dealt with her tantrums and childish outbursts - I don’t know which number it is, but it’s somewhere in the rule book of friendships - and I at least the approximate meaning behind it.
Ken puts an end to our friendly, stick-poking, sorta one-sided banter, ushering us to start the game. We all oblige, muting our mics and getting our heads in the game as though we’re about to enter an actual warzone with upmost stealth.
To my dismay, the screen flashes ‘Crewmate’. I head out of cafeteria to do my task in Weapons, staying weary of anyone within my proximity. Once I’m done, I head on down to Shields and complete my task there as well. I cringe when I’m done, knowing my last three tasks are in Electrical. Like, the fuck kind of luck do I have?
I make my way through the halls, running into Sykkuno and we circle around each other a few times to show we’re safe before we each continue our own way. I enter Electrical and.....oh Felix is dead. And oh lookie who’s right there...
I report the body before the impostor can and we all unmute our mics.
“Found him in Electrical.“ I say nonchalantly, “Didn’t see anyone in there though.“
“Anyone sus?“ Sean asks
We say our ‘no’s and ‘I don’t know’s and skip the vote. I’m smirking to myself as I head back down to Electrical. Walking in, I see the same person as before - Rae. I stop dead in my tracks and we just stare at each other for a few seconds before she comes towards me, circling me twice, bumping visors with me and venting out of the room.
“You’re welcome.“ I mumble, smiling widely.
I finish my tasks and leave Electrical just as Corpse enters our bedroom, giving me this tired-parent look like he’s half disappointed and half amused. “You just threw the game, didn’t you? Don’t lie.” He raises his eyebrows, fully adopting his parent role.
I giggle, shaking my head, sending him the briefest of glances before my eyes fixate on the screen in utter shock - Sean just killed me. Oh, for fuck’s sake...
“I was gonna come clean eventually, but I guess they won’t hear it from me now.“ I shrug, lifting my laptop and setting it aside so Corpse can join me on the bed. I snuggle up to him immediately, drawn to him as though he’s a human magnet.
“Who was it?“ He asks me, running his hands through my hair in a soothing manner.
I frown, pulling away from his chest to look him in the eyes, “Wait, how did you know I threw the game if you don’t know who I threw it for?”
He smirks, shrugging, “I didn’t know. You were smiling downright evilly when I came in so I just assumed.” He boops my nose. “And you ratted yourself out.”
I narrow my eyes at him, blowing some air out my nose - a gesture that has become my only way of showing anger towards him. I literally can’t even voice when I’m upset with him cause the grudge lasts like .5 seconds. I let him get away with more than he should.
Seeing as how I can’t argue to his statement, I lean back into his chest and pull out my phone to pass the time while I pretend to give him the silent treatment. Among my notifications is one for Rae’s stream. I smile and tap it, being taken to her YouTube channel and her live stream.
Just when the stream loads, Rae finds my dead body in Storage.
“Oh, nooooooo! Y/N!“ She wines as she goes over to it, “Sean must’ve killed her.” She reports the body and unmutes herself in game, “The body’s in Storage. I was on my way to call an emergency meeting cause I saw Sean vent in Security.”
“WHAT?!“ Sean exclaims in shock, “I didn’t! Rae’s lying. I swear I didn’t! I wasn’t even in Security!“
“Sean has been following me around this whole time. Just saying.“ Ken joins the discussion, throwing even more suspicion on Sean.
“We gotta vote someone.“ Charlie says, “Might as well be the most sus person at the moment.“
The voting results show all the little astronaut icons on Sean except his which is on Rae. Sean gets launched into space and the game continues. Having muted her mic in-game, Rae speaks up: “Y/N has been avenged. No one kills my best friend.”
I’m staring at my phone screen, eyes wide, eyebrows raised, a huge smile on my face. I take a glance at Corpse out of the corner of my eye and see he’s just as pleasantly surprised as I am.
“For those of you asking if I’m still mad at her and Corpse, the answer’s no. Actually, I think I was never mad. I was just in shock and a little hurt that I wasn’t made aware sooner.“ Rae says as she keeps wandering around the map, “Then I realized not talking to my best friend hurt more than the betrayal, you know. The only reason I still pretend is because it’s really funny to see her trying to soften me up.“ She laughs, “But yeah. I don’t know what I’d do without her or Corpse in my life. I love them both and love them even more together. My best friends are dating, I still can’t wrap my brain around that! They are sooo cute, you guys! I wish they posted more content of them together. I’m literally simping over their relationship! But shh, don’t tell em I said that.”
I laugh, overjoyed by what I just heard. I knew she couldn’t still be mad at us. I know she has every right to be, but she’s too sweet to actually hold a grudge against anyone ever.
I suddenly want nothing more than to give her an enormous hug and hold onto her for as long as she’d let me. I just now realize how lonely it feels to have never hugged your best friend because you haven’t hung out together in person. The only reason Rae now knows what I look like is because I sent her a full body picture of myself as one of my sad attempts to get her to start talking to us again. We have never met in person, and that thought kills me. It makes me impatient for this pandemic to end even more than before.
“Told you there was nothing to worry about.“ Corpse’s arms tighten their hold on my body, pulling me even closer which I didn’t know was possible. The most fulfilling and endearing feeling - being in the arms of a loved one. Being held so close and so tightly that you feel like you’re untouchable. Like you two can’t be hurt by anything in the world as long as you have each other.
“Yeah, you were right.“ I sigh in content, putting my phone down and covering his hands with mine, our rings clinking quietly when they touch.
“As usual...“ he whispers theatrically with his lips against my hair.
I playfully roll my eyes, catching glimpse of the screen showing Rae’s demise.
“Oh no, they caught her.“ I say, a bit disappointed she didn’t win and more than a bit responsible for her defeat.
I somehow manage to convince myself to get untangled from Corpse’s embrace and join the new round. I hear him groan as I settle my computer in my lap, unmuting my mic.
“See ya, kitten.“ Corpse kisses my temple, standing up.
“Oh my God, you two are too cute.“ Poki says sweetly, having heard what Corpse said to me.
“SIMP!“ Sean and Felix shout in unison causing the whole lobby to laugh. Corpse is as red as Rae’s avatar as he exists our room, running down the hallway.
“Ok, ok, ok. Hold on. I have to address this. I really hadn’t stepped foot in Security, let alone vented in there. Rae why were you lying?“ Sean’s voice cuts through the teasing directed towards Corpse and I.
“While we’re on that topic...“ Felix speaks up as well, making me break out in a nervous sweat, “Y/N, you literally saw Rae kill me, but you said you didn’t see anyone.“ He laughs, “Not gonna lie, I was a bit pissed.“
The call falls silent for about five seconds until Rae and I speak simultaneously.
“I was avenging Y/N.“
“I was helping Rae.“
Silence follows our statements, not for long though, as our friends break out in amused laughter.
“Fuck’s sake, you two make a good team.“ Sean says through genuine laughter which Rae and I soon join him in.
Felix and Sean and the rest of the lobby forgive us for throwing the game from both the crewmate and impostor’s side and we move onto another round. This time I have only one task in Electrical which I leave for last as always. I don’t feel like dying right from the get-go. I start by doing the card swipe in Admin and then the fuel task in Storage. As I make my way to Upper Engine, Corpse leaves Electrical, falling in step with me. I immediately get nervous, but still make my way to where I’m supposed to go, hoping he’d go his own way eventually.
I stay wary of my boyfriend as I do my task, praying he won’t take my head off. When the task is finished, I find I’m trapped in the room with the doors shut. And Corpse right there. With every right and opportunity to kill me and vent. No one would know. No one saw us.
That nervous sweat is back.
I’m counting my last seconds of being alive.
And it happens...
A body is reported
“Oh than you so so so much! Corpse was gonna kill me in Upper Engine!“ I don’t let the person who reported the body speak, thanking them for my survival. “I was sure I was a goner.“
“Babe, come on now. You know I wouldn’t kill you even if I was an impostor. I love you too much.“ Corpse hurries to defend himself, “I’m following you around to keep you safe.“
I can tell he’s capping, but I have no concrete proof. He knows I’m onto him. His best bet is having me killed by the other impostor. He might have been capping the majority of his defense, but I know he won’t kill me.
“I’ll vote for myself because of that one.“ I mumble
The vote is skipped except the one vote I placed on myself and the round continues. I follow Corpse around the whole time, making sure he’s completing tasks - not that I can be 100% certain he’s actually completing them.
All is well until we walk into Admin and find Felix there, uploading data. Corpse, dead-ass, goes up to him and kills him, reporting the body right afterwards.
“IT’S CORPSE!“ I don’t give him a chance to start his brainwashing of the rest of the players. “Felix, this is my redemption for leaving your death unavenged last round.“
“Yeah, it’s me.“ Corpse laughs, that adorable laugh of his melting me despite the need to stay strong and carry out my argument, “Just vote me out so I can go troll Y/N.“
“Sounds like a plan to me.“ Ken says, the remainder of the crewmates, and the impostor probably, agreeing with him.
The votes are put in, all on Corpse obviously, and he is sent off into space. Not even five seconds later I hear his footsteps approaching.
I look up when he pops his head in the room and says, “I have come to annoy you to death with my love for you.”
I can’t help but laugh, shaking my head. The things this man does to me are insane. It’s insane that I let him.
It’s amazing, really. We’re amazing.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I pat the spot on the bed next to me, “I’ll allow it. But only cause I love you too.”

OKAY LISTEN idk if someone or you already planned sth like this but how about y/n finally decides to confess/tell jk but someone else claims to be her before she could do it so * cue to the angst bc y/n sees the whole thing/she hears from her friends * and ofc koo eventually finds out bc that b*tch doesn't even have the fucking lunchboxes 😑
Tumblr media
cold senior!y/n x stem major!koo masterlist :D
stem koo's the three-peat king for having the best research papers, but he's the worst when it comes to believing the right person
"i think i'm gonna tell him."
you say it to no one in particular, really, but you hear yoongi rISING from his nap on the couch
it wasn't meant to wake him at all
it was just an epiphany of sorts that popped into your head
physically felt as if your head would just bursT if you didn't say it out loud to affirm your own thoughts lmao
"for real???" he's rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, very evident that he wouldn't wake up to finish his thirteen pending assignments but he 10/10 would wake up to hear your epiphany
yoongi is awake for the action!!!! lmao does professor roux from calculus think that he wakes up at the morning and doing shapes (or whatever they teach at calc) is the fIRST thing in his mind????
"interesting," he nods solemnly when you nod your head, reaching out for a fist bump before he plops to your shoulder, "i suggest dressing like a virgin wearing H&M when you confess. it would hit close to home."
yoongi's the touchy affectionate one between the two of you but you'll forgive him bc he's still sleepy
NOOOOOOO
jungkook doesn't look like a virgin wearing H&M :((((
his clothes aren't from there lol
"pass."
"say that you're a top verified contributor both in quora and brainly."
PLEAAAAAASE SJWHSHWHHWV
"nice idea," you snort as yoongs genuinely thinks that it'd get jungkook to propose on the spot, "but no cigar."
"pretend to love big bang theory."
"you're getting onto something here."
"your hobby is fact-checking rick and morty."
"yoongi wow you are on fIRE today-"
"your guilty pleasure is not wearing protective gear during experiments."
"where is this coming from??"
"OH!!!! i'll pretend to mug him or something and you can attack me!!!"
....
??????
yeah yoongi's train of thought just crashed
you were pretty sure he was going on a science theme there wHY DID IT DERAIL
yoongi looks confused because you look confused, as if he didn't just give you the mindblowing idea,, free of charge
lol but no he really didn't
"i'm not doing any of that shit, yoongs."
"oh yeah???" he squints at you and hollows his cheeks, taunting you entertainingly while he worms his way to your lap to nap again
"what are you planning to do?"
holy sHIT this is nerve-wracking
she feels like she's gonna pass out the whole time that she's been rehearsing this in her head
she's been waiting outside the classroom for twenty minutes now and the bell finally rang and she can't believe it!!!! omg is it game-time now
everyone's filing out of the room and she could just feel that jungkook would come out of the room last-
ALRIGHT FUCK THE BELL RANG
you could do this!!!!
everyone's filing out of the room and you know in your heart that jungkook would stay behind, his routine being to politely chat with the professor before he leaves
you're a lil nervous alright
you're scanning the room and there's only a few people left and your eyes instinctively go to the mini desk next to the door and-
FUCK
DID YOU FORGET TO BRING IT HOME YESTERDAY??????
goddamn it
yesterday was when coach jeong was mad because someone from your team just hAD to bring beer!!! and not even have the common sense to put it on a discreet thermos or sth and you know!!!! to not drink it in public or in front of the coach!!!!
doing laps on the oval field will now make you hurl on command just by thinking about it
you physically did not have the cognizance to go and fetch the lunchbox to wash it,,,, or like even move at all
FUCK IT
how are you gonna swipe the lunchbox now? now when the professor's packing up, jungkook's loitering around the classroom, and there's this girl who's-
wait
who's this girl??
who is she and wHY IS SHE EYEING THE LUNCHBOX
fuck it!!! here goes nothing
she's stepping completely into the room and making sure her block heels generate enough clacking,, hands already moving in practiced moments as she attempts in making it seem like she's rushedly putting the lunchbox bag into her tote — as if it's from there, and she's always done this
jungkook hears noises coming from the back of the room, eyes widening before he comes up the stairs in record time
"no. get your own."
he grips the girl's wrist, about to pry off her hands from his lunchbox
he hears her giggle sweetly, the melody being something he's heard before
"i did. after all, i did get you these."
:O
"hyeji?"
hyeji's a pretty girl!!! a nice girl in jungkook's year that wears fit dresses and cartier bangles :D
she stands out really, sometimes literally because she appears in the school's flyers and advertisements
"hyeji," jungkook breathlessly connects the dots including the fact that she looks caught in the act; holding his lunchbox, her tote bag open, and a peek of another completely different lunchbox in her other hand, "i-it's been you this whole time?"
hyeji blushes, sheepishly tucking her perfectly shiny and neat hair behind her ears, "you caught me then."
kook laughs both in nervousness and giddiness, pushing his glasses up and suddenly conscious that he should've worn contacts, "b-but how? we don't share this class."
:O
hyeji bursts into a giggle, blushed cheeks staining further than the five minutes she tried getting the perfect amount
"r-right! kinda amazing what depths you'd go for a person you like, hm?"
jungkook is about to pass out
HE'S PUT IN A SITUATION
a situation that he likes and is too giddy to find a reply for
he apparently doesn't need a reply, because a chair scrapes harshly against the floor and it brings him down to reality immediately
you cannot fucking believe what you just witnessed
you stand abruptly from the seat you've been frozen in with a great deal of urgency because you cAN'T stand to be in this room any longer
they actually forgot that the two of them aren't alone
that you're still here
little miss hyeji's just as shocked
you feel stupid and even more stupid that you're still holding a stupid notebook you even decorated
it has a doodle in the front and all the remaining pages are of the copies you've replicated on jungkook's sticky notes — the same ones you've been trying to make perfect just for him
"y/n!" he sputters when your backpack accidentally leans too much to your side and hits him on the way out
"move."
you’re feeling everything but fine and god you just hated that you always willed yourself to move oN
you’re beyond mad when you put on your jersey!!!
you’re irrevocably dejected when you put on your cleats!!!!
you feel cheated on when you zip up your duffel and walk all the way to the field!!!
it’s a combination of the type of frustration that makes you want to move plus the type that paralyzes you, the whole thing unlike anything you’ve ever felt before
you’re clearly in your head and frankly, you’re just too good
too good that there's no game at all because the only thing happening is you scoring
there's no passing going on or the sort
everyone is just :O looking at their captain to be in the most furiously determined state that they’ve ever seen you in
you don’t even realize that you’re the oNLY one moving in the whole field
“alright, alright — jesus christ! go to the bench and sort your head out, captain,” coach jeong literally has to JOG over to your spot to jolt you
oh there he is again
jaehyun just had to bench you didn’t he
sometimes it’s lost on you that jaehyun, just like seokjin, used to be your senior
he hated juniors with a burning passion and you’re the ONLY one he’s taken a tolerance for
((you lent him your umbrella and it coincidentially had to be a bad day for him tHEN that made him like you))
you’re having none of it though because this time, you’re the one who has the bad day and the captain title does nothing to appease you
“sure, coach.”
you mumble just as lively and walk to completely the fURTHEST side of the bleachers, being so far out that you could barely see your team
what are you supposed to do? simmer in the thoughts you so badly didn’t want to have in silence??????
"y/n?"
the voice you least expected to hear perks up right next to you
what the hell is jungkook doing here now??
he looks lost, two hands clinging onto his backpack straps before tentatively looking at you again
“did i do anything to upset you?”
so he wants to ask that?
you snort automatically, suddenly wishing that you didn’t walk this far because you can’t make an excuse that jaehyun’s calling for you
"because my bag accidentally hit you on the way out? no, jungkook."
jungkook knits his brows in question, seemingly take offense to what you’ve just said to hom
"we're not exactly associated for me to be mad at you, are we?" you emphasize even further, not caring the least bit that your words have an edge to them
he deadpans, pursing his lips before sarcastically smiling at you
".... so you're upset at me?"
://
jungkook takes your silence for him to delve further, not paying attention to how your eye is begging to twitch at him
"i asked if i did anything to upset you, and you said no. but that doesn't necessarily mean you aren't. you could be upset at me even if i didn't do anything to you."
wow
you sound like a real fucking nerd jungkook
"do you have any idea how condescending you sound right now?"
kook barely has a solid inch on you yet the nagging feeling that he’s belittling you makes you grip your fists tight, posture wavering
"so you do admit that you're upset at me?"
he’s not the most patient person either but something about you and the situation right now just makes him tick a little faster
your eyes narrow at what he’s aiming to get at, your hand on your hip feeling heavy at this point
"what does it matter to you if i'm upset or not? we are not-"
"i am associated to you!!! even to a degree!!! you walked me home!"
jungkook is the one who breaks first and he doesn’t look fazed to have opposed you so loudly, still standing by himself
"i would walk anyone home."
"no you wouldn't-"
"i would walk anyone who was as vulnerable and as anxious as you were, jungkook!!"
it is true
you’d walk anyone home within reason regardless if they were jungkook or not!!!
the guy in question only looks at you straightly, brows not stubborn but still just as unrelaxed
:((
"good to know. then you're not upset at me, and i didn't do anything to upset you."
"sure."
you only say just to spite him, about to turn your back and leave him completely to go back to your practice game
jungkook surprises you again and flips a switch just as quick as your mini argument of sorts escalated
"anyways!! i'm sorry for being a little off when i interviewed you that day. i got a 100 on that assignment, by the way :))"
what?
what’s he still doing here?
he’s talking about his grades and whatnot to you as if literally twenty seconds ago did nOT happen!!
"why are you still-"
"and the one who's been giving me my lunchboxes confessed to me today!! for hyeji to be the girl giving me them, it makes perfect sense."
you shrug away the weirdness that jungkook’s moved on from the argument as fast as this, trying a take two for a peaceful conversation
this time, you’re the one who unknowingly flips a switch at her name — something so foreign and sudden yet something you quickly grew to hate
"i wouldn't be so trusting if i were you."
that seems to hit a nerve on him again, making him scoff in reply
"good thing you aren't me then."
what is ON with him????
"watch it. i'm your senior, kid."
you’re more irritated than the first and second time around that you’ve been agitated this day
"why? are you normally this self-absorbed that you wouldn't trust a girl who's confessed??"
self-absorbed?
you aren’t the most selfless person ever but god do you know for a fact that you’re not vain as jungkook’s insisting you to be
you hate him.
you hate this version of him that isn’t the same jungkook you’ve known to like ever since the start of the semester
"same thing as polygraphs not being a hundred percent reliable. anyone could tell the truth as long as you ask the wrong questions," you detail on further because jungkook loves details, right? might as well give him several
"or did you even ask?"
jungkook scowls as if you’ve insulted his mother and his entire lineage, face contorting into everything but warm
"what does it matter to you? didn't you just tell me that we aren't associated? why are you projecting all your moaning on hyeji?"
WHAT
WHAT????
"you know what? maybe i am associated to you. i think i'd also tell this to everyone i'd walk home — maybe you shouldn't be too trusting, huh? maybe you shouldn't just let anyone walk you home."
the tears this time are more insistent to come out this time but you’d rather dIE than for jungkook to stain your pride like this
"no one should walk me home, besides you? is that what you're trying to say?"
no!!
for fuck's sake you aren't even finished with your point!!
before you could continue, jungkook shakes his head at you — the most disappointing shake of his head that it curses you soft
"what am i even doing? you wouldn't understand."
he closes the distance that’s been alarmingly shorter throughout the whole time, jungkook being the one to break it
"because no one gives you lunchboxes. no one exerts effort in making you cheerful — no one wants to go the extra mile for you, and no one wants to walk you home."
he's insulting you right to your face and that’s when your dam breaks, lips quivering impossibly as you stare him down with a genuinely pained gaze you didn’t know you carried
"you wouldn't know what i feel, because no one likes you."
jungkook gets the last word in.
he leaves you in the same field he's first approached you in nervousness.
today, he leaves it differently.
sweat isn't the only thing on your face but instead it’s the frustrating hot tears you haven’t had in awhile
your fists are balled but there's no power to the anger behind it
you’re almost always alone outside the company of the closest friends you’ve ever had — but this is the only time that you truly felt that you are alone.
today's a good day to give up on jungkook.

what about the first actual date with flatmate!matty after you guys got together? is it sweet? loads of nerves??
(also nobody asked but my coffee machine jammed and im p angry rn)
ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
(i am so sorry about the coffee machine. frankly if mine broke i would break too)
the first actual date is SO SWEET. regardless of the fact you guys are Confirmed In Love and you've essentially been going on dates for years already at this point, matty is so so nervous to actually ask you to go on one with him; i think he asks you the day after condom-gate, while you're both making dinner, like gets all bashful and just blurts out "heydoyouwanttogoonadatewithmetomorrow". and you're like "hmm?" and matty takes a deep breath and says "do you want to go on a date with me tomorrow? i was thinking we could go for brunch at that cafe. the one with the pancakes. i know they're your favourite", and you just grin and kiss him softly (he goes all gooey and blushy) and say "i would love to go on a date with you tomorrow. thank you for asking" and then you guys make out for a minute before you're interrupted by the pasta boiling over and making a mess lmao. and i think you definitely turn the flirting up a little bit that evening, just because you find it so cute how flustered matty is about this little date - after dinner and some snuggling, you announce that you're "gonna have a shower, and i might be in there for some time". and matty immediately goes "baby, you don't need to get yourself off in the shower anymore, you have me ;))", to which you giggle but roll your eyes and say "nooooooo, i'm going for an Everything Shower. what if i get lucky on my date tomorrow? i need to be prepared" and wink and walk off to the bathroom, leaving matty blushing and grinning to himself like the little lovesick fool he is.
you guys get ready separately the next morning (that is, after you've spent like an hour making out and grinding in matty's bed, which you're now sleeping in) to make the date seem more official, and you both wear like slightly nicer versions of casual outfits and make sure your hair looks presentable - you're making an effort! and when you're ready, you meet matty in the hallway; he immediately tells you you look beautiful and presents you with flowers (you have absolutely no idea how or when he got them, but you don't question it, you just appreciate), you return the compliment (he blushes again) and then you're on your way. it's so lovely walking hand-in-hand with your boyfriend (!!), talking about anything and everything, and that continues in the cafe too. you both get pancakes, but different toppings, and when matty asks you if yours are nice you literally feed him a little bit from your fork, which makes you both giggle stupidly. there's even a teeny bit of pda - you get a bit of chocolate on your lip, and after matty points it out he leans over and quickly kisses it off, which makes YOU blush this time and makes him grin. matty pays - he's like "chivalry is alive and kicking and i need to do my bit. sorry babe but i literally will not argue with you on this", and you sigh and say "well, i'll get the bill next time then", and matty makes a silly little joke like "fuck yeah i'm getting a second date", to which you're like "oh, you're getting far more than just one other date. you're stuck with me now, healy", and matty honest to god nearly cries before you exchange i love you's and have another sneaky little kiss. then he's all funny like "can i walk you home?", and you're like "i mean yes but we do need to go to tesco first, darlin', we're out of milk lol". but even that ends up being romantic - you pick out ingredients for a nice meal and get a good bottle of wine, and the date continues that night in the flat, with a romantic dinner/movie night under a pillow fort in the living room. and then yeah, because it's you two and you have a lot of catching up to do, you end up "making love" (matty's words, not yours) in said pillow fort - matty's like "not to be dramatic but this is the best day of my life like do you know how long i've wanted to not only take you on a date but also have sex with you in a fort like this", and you're like "well thank god i had that shower last night and shaved lol", and then it's just a lot of giggling and more sexy stuff happening before you go to sleep in each other's arms <3

xreader Modern AU/Streamer AU HCs!!
(what the rooms that they stream in look like ehehe gonna post on my blog later)
(was also feeling extra so i animated all of it)
Xiao
his room is very dark. It's lit up by colored LEDs, stuff like that. He also probably has a light-up green glowy lightning bolt taped to his wall. also has like his yaksha mask with glowy accents from like fanmail and stuff. also related to the event request i sent, his door is probably somewhere behind him, otherwise, how would they see the reader entering his room? also only his viewers know this, but behind him, he has a shelf with various items on it. most of the shelf. has plants. it clashes with his personality, but matches with his color scheme. he used to just not sleep (poor baby drank too much monster hehe) but his S/O helps him with it <3 also has all his g-fuel on the shelf. (secretly has one of those froggo hats) tired and cranky 24/7 but still has amazing aim even if he's tired???? trying to fix his bad posture. childe called zhongli a boomer once. xiao just- snapped. who dares to insult his dear brother like that? let's just say... childe didnt last long in the next few rounds... (totally not long because im biased)
Tumblr media
Ganyu
has a very aesthetic cozy room. When Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli moved in, (she was 12 and xiao was 10 , zhongli was 20 at the time, Ganyu is currently 21 , Xiao is currently 19, Zhongli is currently 29) she took her time, hanging her fairy lights, carefully placing all her comfort plushies on the shelf. She recently placed polaroids of her and her S/O in a heart shape, of course with her S/O's assistance. Helped Zhongli and Xiao decorate their rooms. (Xiao used to have those giant wall stickers yk? yeah he used to have one of spiderman, dont tell anybody) Has a neatly stacked pile of work papers. Just very aesthetic in general. def makes you hot cocoa on bad days. did a stream where her viewers spent her earnings on valentines gifts for you (awwwwww) zhongli was slightly confused when there were like 12 packages at their apartment door.
Tumblr media
Zhongli
Very beige and vintage. He just has a lot of shelves. Like a lot lot. He collects teapots, and just interacts with chat while sipping tea. If he's lucky enough to get a donation, he spends it on new tea sets or tea that his chat chooses. But the tea set choosing has rules!! Rule 1 is no NSFW (if nsfw teacups even exist), Rule 2 is no Gore(if that even exists), and rule 3 is has to fit the budget. He also has a wishlist of tea sets he wants to get, and his viewers can donate to help him get the tea sets on his wishlist. Is very grateful for every donation he gets. Has fairy lights and a lot of different types of tea on the shelves. Also has a lot of books on the shelves. idk what else to write other than he collects tea sets and also tea.
(lost motivation and didnt draw it)

Hello, how are you doing these days? I'm back with another ask. Since we see the term 'potential' being applied to characters a lot now, do you think Itachi had any 'potential' to be an interesting character? It is a bit later that he became a mess of theme- and plot-related mistakes, but do you think in there's any basis in canon for him to have been a decent character? One that, if not complex, at least made sense? Thank you and have a great day!
OMGG HIII FAV MUTUAL i been okay these days so busy w my new job but good. howre u?
I think Itachi had the potential to be an interesting character. Itachi’s character could have been extrapolated in so many different ways that seeing him shoved into a corner just ARGGH. there’s not much depth to him despite popular belief.
It’s crazy to me because part 1 Itachi HAD SO MUCH POTENTIAL ARGGH. It’s like.. man the fear? The way all of the jounins and konoha just couldn’t match him at all! That build up was so nice. His confrontation with Sasuke where he chokes him. It’s so good!!!
I think the reason Itachi’s character fails so spectacularly is because of how the narrative wanted to warp him into someone who “wasn’t that bad” or “had good intentions to save the village but his method of action was flawed” (i see this argument a lot honestly) this argument is reiterated by obito and later naruto and kakashi. because itachi committed genocide to save konoha, he’s seen as morally grey despite the fact that the village he’s saving is highkey fascist and fucks over so many smaller, weaker villages (case in point, NAGATO!) konoha is LITERALLY a military dictatorship. there’s absolutely nothing good about that awful village and itachi killed his family for it
okay now back to my initial point, itachi killing the uchihas for konoha is fundamental to his character, it shapes him... but my god he would have been sooo much better as only an antagonist instead of someone in the middle. I understand that he was manipulated by the elders but Itachi as an antagonist would have still worked even after the plot twist of killing for konoha. He fails because his character sort of stretches out to shadow over everyone else. he’s painted out to be unbelievably strong and infallible even in death to the point it’s just laughable and it isn’t done well either because there’s no purpose to it. it does not forward the plot, it just feels like fanservice. he doesn’t fit into the story with the characters at all. it feels so forced, grating and awkward. suddenly these characters established to be the best of the best are tripping over their feet over a sick shinobi with eyes that are almost blind
His character isn’t that developed; his persona of being strong, deadly and calm is never questioned or challenged. He’s either this loving brother full of guilt or a perfect shinobi. It’s boring! Sasuke loves him when he finds out the truth, the hokages call him a hero and... that would have been a really good point to show how corrupt and horrific the shinobi system is but Itachi’s actions are never questioned! there’s nothing in the narrative in shippuden to make you believe that Itachi was wrong other than his regret (this is mainly because of how the Uchihas are viewed by everyone) And his regret is targeted more at making sasuke suffer than the killing of his clan.
Making Itachi a compelling character could have been done in so many ways so long as there wasn’t this suffocating attempt to justify him in the manga.
And I guess properly flesh out his motives. He kills his clan for konoha for Sasuke. Okay. He joins the Akatsuki to spy on them for Konoha. How would that have worked? If we’re going along with him being a spy, maybe we can be shown how he gradually loses all his morals, finds killing easier. Maybe there’s a moment where he’s surprised at how easy he finds it to fit in with Akatsuki. It would explain his torture of Sasuke more if his default reaction to anything that isn’t entirely numbing is violence. Maybe instead of everything being some greater manipulative bullshit, moments where he harms Sasuke are genuine lapses in control. He’s so obsessed with Sasuke he can’t even rationalise his actions.
(I’m still of the belief that him joining the Akatsuki as a spy was an awful plot point. It would have been better if he only joined the Akatsuki to amplify his villainous persona so Sasuke feels even more inclined to kill when he’s going around terrorising people. I feel like Itachi after killing the clan no longer caring much for Konoha, only Sasuke and a weird obsession for peace because that’s what he also did all of this for, would have been a far more interesting twist. He’s a very selfish character that gets interpreted as selfless for the “sacrifices” he makes because the shinobi think he’s right.)
We need to be shown just how horrific Itachi’s actions are the same way we were shown in part 1 Naruto. And other than the physical consequences, the mental ones too.
I guess what would make Itachi more interesting as a character if we went along with his canon actions would be to see his thought process more. This guy killed his entire clan—show us how twisted his mind can be. Show us how the guilt/self hatred/anger/apathy destroys himself until he’s quite literally begging Sasuke to kill him in his mind.
Rather than having his machinations work out, what if he fails? What if it goes wrong? We need more moments where he’s failing. Not beating legendary characters like Orochimaru. There’s no satisfactory release to Itachi, even in his death. It’s very bland.
I don’t think the plot twist of Itachi killing for konoha in itself was bad, it’s more the execution that was bad. Because we’re already shown in part 1 that Konoha is corrupt. The plot messes come from 1) the urge to make Itachi out to be infallible and righteous but deeply troubled and 2) the narrative trying its hardest to paint the uchihas out to be inherently evil and 3) the lack of accountability placed on individuals and more on “the cycle of hatred” ignoring that it’s these Kages in power who were perpetuating that system.
Okay so I will forever be salty at the direction Itachi’s character took. They took a mysterious older brother and turned him into a plot convulted mess with the worst fake deep quotes and annoying op attacks pulled out of his ass. almost damn well ruined Sasuke’s character too smh. So yeah bestie Itachi had sooo much potential. He could have properly been used as an instrument to show shinobi like the protagonists that Sasuke’s anger is valid and that the village they fight for is evil and not worth it or to properly allow the Uchiha to receive justice but nooooooo guys he felt bad :( and he loves sasuke :( and he was a spy for the village all the protagonists are from fighting terrorism in the shadows :( and the uchihas deserved it for rising up against the village that was discriminating against them :( clearly state sponsored genocide isn’t that bad :( yeah he tortured his brother and his spying did nothing to stop akatsuki but he tried :(
