You Need To Decenter Men From Your Life 

Heyyyy babes<3 We will be working on decentering men from our life. This is super important! As women, we are taught to appeal to the male gaze and do everything for male validation. This can affect many young women. Causing them to have trouble being themselves and dealing with insecurities. This is also for my girlies who are serial daters. You have never been in a season of your life where you were truly single. You use relationships to ignore the real problems you have with yourself. This post is not to bash men! It is to help you ladies decent men from your life so you can start your self-love journey<3

How to decenter men

♡ Focus on making your teens and twenties about you! How can you love someone and you don't even love yourself? Self-love is the best form of love! Take this time to get to know yourself and pour into yourself. Travel, test different careers, make new friends, and so on. Your teens and twenties especially your twenties are the most important years of your life and you won't get them back so really take this time to focus on bettering and improving yourself inside out so when you start dating again you feel and know you are the prize.

♡ Let go of society's beauty standard! Most of us will NEVER be the beauty standard. You may have certain attributes that fit into the beauty standard but not all and that is okay. Your higher power created you a certain way for a certain reason. Beauty standards change! In the 90s thin was in. The model body was the beauty standard now having curves specifically an hourglass figure is the beauty standard and it is funny because 20 years ago if you told a girl she was curvy or had a big butt she’d feel insulted. 

♡ Validate yourself. Let your opinion of your beauty be the #1 opinion. Affirm yourself in your beauty and remind yourself you are that girl! Compliments are nice to hear but your confidence shouldn't change because someone calls you unattractive. We are all attractive and unattractive to someone. You deserve to be loved and you're beautiful. Tell yourself that and believe it don't wait for a man to come and tell you before you can truly believe it.

♡ Learn to enjoy your own company. I understand wanting to have someone, going on dates, and receiving flowers but you need to take this season of singleness and pause especially if you haven't been single in a long time. Learn to enjoy being alone, find hobbies, take yourself out on dates, buy yourself flowers, write love letters to yourself, and heal your internal wounds. 

♡ Be realistic about men. They are people just like us lol the eat, sleep, and poop. Men aren't perfect individuals they have their insecurities and issues. And this isn't me trying to talk down on men I like men lol. But once you take them down from this pedestal you will be able to see them as regular people.

♡ Reads books on decentering me. Try and find books on this topic to educate yourself further on decentering men. There are amazing books on amazon I will list a few for you ladies to check out<3.

I want to bring up something serious here for once, because I joined a new Silmarillion group on FB (I'm old, ok?), and it's a particularly inclusive space BUT, because of that, there is a lot of debates going on. And I wasn't allowed to make this point there because the admins were saturated with risky posts.

I have seen a lot of people say things like "Tolkien wasn't racist/anti semitic because he was against fascism!". And I'm not here to discuss the logic on that, or accuse Tolkien of any of those. I'm here to bring up the fact that Tolkien supported Franco.

I get that to most people (even to me) he is not as well known as Hitler or Mussolini, but still. Tolkien supported him, a fascist and a terrible dictator, because of anti communism and very Catholics views. Franco's opposition burned catholic churches and killed nuns and priests. Now, I don't want to get into detail about the reasons behind that, and how different those actions are viewed depending on your history (For Tolkien, to whom being catholic make him part of a minority, this was very different to what it's for people from actual catholic countries in general and latin Americans in particular, in which the church, as an institution, was always complicit of dictatorships and oppression).

Even Lewis had called Roy Campbell, a poet who fought with Franco, as a sort of catholic fascist. And Tolkien considered that Lewis was just under the influence of red propaganda, believing only the things said against Franco. He couldn't understand Lewis reactions to Campbell's stories about his fight

This is mostly talked about in letter 83 which, I must admit, I haven't read. I have read other people's summaries of it. If anyone knows of some place where I could read it, please reach out and tell me.

My point here is not bashing on Tolkien. I've decided long ago I prefer not to engage too much with his personal history, since my position as a latin american, born so many years after him, raised as a catholic in a catholic country, with a VERY different history around it, makes my personal views very opposed to his in many levels.

My point is to bring awareness on the fact that Tolkien did indeed support one fascist regimen, and this is ignored by most people. I think it's not just that Franco is not as known for some as the other two, it's also that he seems to have a very different weight for those that speak Spanish and those who don't. For starters, this facts it's not included in his English wiki, while it's included on the one in Spanish. For me, that I usually try to read the English sources for English themed things, this meant that I didn't know about this until some days ago, and I learnt it through a meme.

So yeah, I just needed to tell this in case some other people are just as ignorant as me on this. Because the whole "Tolkien was against fascism" is something I have read too many times and never questioned, tbh. But maybe it was just me.

Hello, thanks for shouting out your game. ^_^ I don't know if what I usually do is normally called "reviewing," so I think the best I can do is highlight what I noticed about this game, and talk about pieces of it that might help people decide whether they want to pick it up. I did a quick skim-through, and this is what I gathered from my read. Abducted, by Franco Lopez. - This game can be played with one or two players, as there are two characters: Alien and Human. - This game uses card draws from a regular 52 - card deck to provide pieces of the story. - The format of the pdf is neatly laid out and has complementary colours. I really like the design of this game. - There are four phases within the game, but the players choose when the game ends, so the play time is variable. - There are a lot of tables to help players resolve plot points and setting detail. A lot of the prompts give the player room to define what exactly is going on between the alien and the human, so there's a good blend of inspiration and creativity. - This is a game that contains the possibility of a hostile relationship between the alien and the human, so this could turn into a bit of a horror game depending on how one draws the cards. Players should go into this game with caution if alien horror is not the genre you're looking for.

Overall, if you like science-fiction's capacity to contain both horror and wonder, and if you really enjoy random tables or oracles, you'll like this game.

I love Harry, but I think that one of the reasons people bash Raimi Harry, is that he’s played by James Franco and some people tend to dislike characters when the actor is a know piece of shit.

Oh this is absolutely just true. And the thing is if someone doesn’t like him because he’s played by James Franco and that makes them a bit uncomfortable, I get it. I’m not gonna say that’s wrong. It’s completely valid. Frankly I think nobody is obligated to like any character regardless of whether or not I understand the reasoning.

But in terms of other reasons I see people hate my boy that are significantly less valid imo, even if nobody is obligated to change their opinions because I think it’s dumb, it’s like 90% white boy redditors who go through this thing I find fascinating in which it’s like, these white dudes who’ve probably endured some bullying in their childhoods over that sort of thing and are the sort of people Peter is made to be a power fantasy for take the way they feel towards those bullies and perceived or real mistreatment, often somewhat related to the common baggage with women that those sorts of people often have. You know what I mean.

So instead of projecting those feelings towards people who treated them poorly on Flash, the intended target for that, it ends up falling onto Harry, because Harry had the audacity to do something they perceive as a betrayal: date a single woman that Peter happened to be interested in. I have talked about this in depth in the past. But because of that, a lot of those negative emotions towards both women and other men end up on both MJ and Harry. MJ is a whore, ignoring the established character reasons for her commitment issues and the fact Peter also cheats, and Harry becomes the sort of man that they both compare themselves to and deeply resent. This is how we end up with wild ass takes like Raimi Harry being cool or a playboy, despite the movies themselves implying the opposite on both fronts, and the phenomenon in which these men will see awful things happening to Harry and not see it as a tragedy or part of the cause of his bad behavior and instead see it as Harry basically being punished for what they see as him wronging them. It’s not tragic, it’s not a horrible thing happening to someone who’s already implied to have mental health issues and pushing him further down a destructive path, it’s justice. It’s vindication for them. It’s cathartic to see him suffer. Harry’s eventual redemption is just sort of this thing that further nails in to them that Harry and the people he represents are as deserving of resentment as they think because to them it means those type of guys are just as wrong and beneath them as they want to think they are to deal with their own insecurities

Now obviously that’s not gonna apply in full to every person. There are straight white reddit boys with based as fuck takes on Harry. There are people who don’t fall into that category who have terrible opinions. There are people who only some of what I just said applies to. Nobody is a monolith, not even redditors. /j

It’s moreso an analysis of a weird trend I’ve noticed because I will take any opportunity to run my mouth and I like talking about things at length.

Anyways people who don’t like him because of Franco are valid, even if I don’t personally feel the same and will probably be a little salty if you don’t apply that same logic to people like Jeremy Renner or Jamie Foxx

The power the Dark Lord knows not is Harry's ability to see through shadows, move through shadows and command them. In this fic Harry gains followers from his first day at school, becomes popular among all houses and keeps the useless, evil adults like the Dursleys or Snape in check thanks to his unique abilities.

My main challenge with the story is the amount of bashing especially Dumbledore and Snape and not very believable speed-run to the top of the student hierarchy with people who he barely knows pledging lifelong loyalty to Harry. You may enjoy the fic if you are able to look beyond these shortcoming - it's a decent, self-indulgent powerful Harry story introducing a unique branch of magic. It's simply not my cup of tea and me preference is toward much more realistic works exploring the intricacies of psychology and worldbuilding.

this one is devastating to me. unnerving too. doré said about this painting;

“To gain money they have killed their child and in killing him they have found out that they had hearts”

i genuinely want to bash my head into a wall every time i see this painting. the glamoured appearances of the father, mother and their pets... contrasting against the absolute horror of the idea of losing your child, by your own doing... god... no words.

I took this photo myself in the Louvre last year. I had no idea it was hanging there! What is interesting to me is that later in life, Elisabeth and her daughter Julie become enstranged. I am drawn to the way Elisabeth depicts clothing in her art and especially in this one! It is very casual wear for the 18th century. The expressions in the panting also make me think that Julie was very loved in her childhood years, despite the enstrangement later in her life.

The Lunatic of Étretat by Hugues Merle

Setting aside the symbolism of France and its defeat in the Franco-Prussian war... The immediate thing I felt for this woman was a twisted, weird kind of rage. Rage about the fact that she is depicted as a lunatic, rage for her and her possible late child, which she is clearly trying to hang onto by replacing her child with a wooden log. One again I would like to give the person in the painting a big, comforting embrace. She deserves so much more than being deemed a town lunatic!!!!

Bruno Nicolai - Il Conte Dracula For some of us, listening to a full orchestra sawing away on some ghostly sustained chords while French horns boom and tympani bash away never gets old.
