you know what hate crimes md enjoyers, idk if this has been done before but i wanna start like a little tag game: i wanna know your favorite seasons in order, what you think is the best episode each season, your personal favorite ep from each season, any honorable mentions if you have them, and your least favorite/worst episode in your opinion. i'd also like to have you sort the main characters/fellows from favorite to least favorite, plus tell me your favorite ship (and optionally, a ship you enjoy and think is underrated)! feel free to toss in any explanations for why you chose what you did. (: kinda long, but oh well – feel like it'll be fun.
i'll go first (so you can see the format) – listing seasons from the best imo, to the worst, and the episodes.
Seasons:
1. Season 3
Best episode: one day, one room (?)
Favorite episode: merry little christmas
Honorable mention(s): cane and able, words and deeds, family, needle in a haystack
Least favorite episode: que sera sera (?)
it was hard to pick the best bc i'm biased towards merry little christmas, but i don't know if it would be the best of the season exactly. as for que sera sera, nothing really wrong with it but honestly i had a hard time picking a least favorite too. great season – to me it's like the classic house season.
2. Season 5
Best: birthmarks
Favorite: under my skin
Honorable mention(s): the softer side, last resort, both sides now, painless
Least favorite: big baby (?)
i literally just barely remember big baby compared to the rest, i think, no matter how many times i see it. amazing season though, honestly so up there with s3 for me that it became a tough choice.
3. Season 6
Best: help me
Favorite: wilson
HM(s): the down low, broken (part 1 & 2), baggage, lockdown
Least favorite: epic fail, remorse (?)
help me is such an amazing episode, it always makes me cry. epic fail is extremely annoying tho and idk why, like after i watched it more than once or twice i started having a hard time rewatching it. and honestly every time i watch remorse i get pissed off on thirteen's behalf and it's just not a fun feeling. not a bad episode though. i know a lot of people don't like s6 but i love it.
4. Season 2
Best: euphoria (part 1 & 2)
Favorite: no reason
HM(s): skin deep, distractions, hunting, clueless
Least favorite: sleeping dogs lie
i recently rewatched euphoria and it's so fucking good i legitimately cried. sleeping dogs lie isn't a bad episode, it just is frustrating to watch for many reasons. another classic house season.
5. Season 4
Best: house's head/wilson's heart
Favorite: house's head/wilson's heart, 97 seconds
HM(s): mirror mirror, you don't want to know, frozen, living the dream
Least favorite: the right stuff
nothing really wrong with the least favorite – it was honestly a tough choice. also i couldn't pick a favorite, it was so tough. i honestly really like this season despite how short and different it is.
6. Season 1
Best: detox
Favorite: detox
HM(s): three stories, histories, control, mob rules
Least favorite: heavy, everybody lies (pilot)
the pilot being orange just makes me laugh the whole time so it's hard to watch, and chase's insane fatphobia in heavy is just disturbing, which is the only reason it's a least favorite. for the best i was torn between three stories and detox, but i think detox is better. s1 is ranked so low bc of general weirdness.
7. Season 8
Best: the c-word, everybody dies
Favorite: the c-word
HM(s): dead & buried, twenty vicodin, nobody's fault, post mortem
Least favorite: we need the eggs
we need the eggs isn't bad, the case is just ??? weird and kinda sad tbh idk. i haven't rewatched the c-word yet but i remember it fondly, so i couldn't really choose a best episode. is picking the finale kinda dumb? maybe, idk. i like a lot of episodes from season 8 surprisingly, like most of them, but it's so different from the previous seasons with cuddy absent and the late addition of two new main characters that it can't be any higher for me.
8. Season 7
Best: after hours
Favorite: after hours, out of the chute
HM(s): unwritten, bombshells, the dig, moving on, fall from grace
Least Favorite: two stories
god i really can't stand rewatching two stories. idk what it is but the fucking kids that house gets stuck with in the principal's office are so annoying ??? probably my least fave episode in all of house. but despite how s7 is at the bottom, it did have some great episodes. just wasn't my favorite season at all, especially as someone who isn't really into huddy.
Characters:
from favorite to least favorite of the main characters –
1. House (of course)
2. Wilson
3. Thirteen
4. Cuddy
5. Chase
6. Foreman
7. Kutner
8. Cameron
9. Amber
10. Taub
11. Park
12. Adams
13. Masters
favorite ship: hilson (house / wilson)
underrated ship: thirteen / cameron, or chase / foreman

Titans: Season 4 - Ep7 & Ep8 - Thoughts
Okay, now that I have watched the episodes multiple times (actually just the good bits tehe), I have overall thoughts and I thought I would share them!
I’m gonna try and focus on the stuff non dickkory related buuut if you catch me slipping, soz. I have always been very vocal about my priorities in this show and they are in the main three.
Episode 7: Caul’s Folly
The bit at the beginning where they like said bye to Jinx, I found kinda sweet. I still feel like she is going to pop up again. I don’t feel like she is proper dead... Maybe I am wrong but I haven’t seen anything to say the actress wasn’t returning for part 2 or anything. I would personally prefer if they kept her dead moreso cos I don’t feel she has any more of a part to play in the rest of it but yeah. At first, I didn’t think they were even gonna mention her and then Rachel did and I was like lmao okay cool. Glad that was cleared up. XD
Honestly, they’ve done such a good job of getting the vibe of bonkers cult for the Church of Blood like it’s so full of whackos but it all feels so believable tbh. I like Sebastian; he’s an interesting character and villain. I’ve always liked the Brother Blood storyline in all media forms through the years and this is no different.
I AM MISSING GAR TERRIBLY ALREADY. I proper felt his absence and I HATED IT. Like I get it, we’re gonna be getting a whole ep for my boy but like I miss his cute little face. Gar woulda been a mood if he was in the town with them. GOD. I can’t wait to see him again soon.
Conner... my guy. I fucking hate you this season. I get the Lex thing and what they’re going for and Joshua Orpin does phenomonelly as he makes it believable but FUCK ME. I am tired of his superieor bullshit XD. Like when he started blaming Dick for the plan going south, I was like are you for real and then Dick being like well fuckface we had a good plan but it went to shit cos of your dumb ass. I was like FUCK YEAH, TELL HIM DICK! I need Conner to not be a douche for much longer cos it’s grating af.
In addition to that, it was cool to see Mercy again. I was surprised since I don’t think anything had mentioned her making an appearance. Still hate her character but it was a cool little moment.
MY GOD. The whole interaction with Roberta was my absolute favourite. When she like inhaled Kory, I was cracking up and I peeped Dick’s smiling eyes ever so slightly when she did it. Hilarious. I loved it and I loved Roberta.
I really REALLY love the clothing department for all the outfits but... my baby girl. Every outfit was a slay. OH! AND THE FUCKING JACKET!! IT SAYS WE <3 GAR AND OBVS THATS A NUDGE TO THE ICONIC SHIRT?? I really adored that little easter egg to the comics. Muchos appreciated.
I LOVE TIM AND BERNARD. They’re little idiots trying to figure shit out and I’m a sap for it tbh. AND GUUURL, they gots their own motel scene. I was like Yaaas TIM, go get your boo. I really like their relationship tbf. I was smiling through like all their scenes, especially at the motel.
Dick getting the shit kicked out of him in the police station made me physically wince; the fight-acting was amazeballs but ugh my boy, I was like bro, you’re getting fucked up. I get he obviously does not have the Nightwing suit with him but dang man, you got knocked about like a ragdoll.
I like the pace in this first episode; it brought me straight back into the flow and action of the season rather than acting as filler bs, at least I felt.
-----
Episode 8: Dick & Carol & Ted & Kory
This episode killed me dead because of the dickkory; I just wanna get that out straight away cos... my god. It was glorious. These thoughts will be including DK cos how can I not; half the episode was them.
That frickin bedroom scene... them freaking and then Kory being like did we sleep together? And Dick is like NO. No? It was so funny; I was cackling. The comedic and the seriousness and the romance as well... it all worked surprisingly very well? Like it felt in the middle of chaos but it works?? I loved this episode more than maybe any other episode in the show.
THE WEDDING RINGSSS. I just wanna say, they got changed. They didn’t need to keep them on. Maybe yes because they’re keeping up the appearances but PLS they both looked real comfy with wedding rings js. Some of the shots also really felt like they were intentionally showing them off. Maybe I was imagining it but some of the shots felt very pointed. Loved it.
Their outfits. THE OUTFITS. Barbieland could never. I just... they were so opposite to Dick and Kory but they looked so fucking cute. I wanted to die. It was the best thing ever.
OH! THE MUSIC IN BOTH EPISODES FUCKING SLAPPED. The town knows how to do a playlist, ite? I was vibing for a lot of the time to the point I had to rewind bits cos I wasn’t paying attention.
The scene with Sebastian cutting Rachel had me raging. Like, bitch lemme cut you and see what you think. Step away from my GURL.
The scene where Dick has bought the recorders... I found Kory hilarious with her ‘Peak daddy bullshit’ line but aw, omg I felt bad for Dick like his poor face he was like, I’m just trying to save us :( It’s rare Kory proper loses her shit with him so I was like oh, this is not nice. I got her but also like he trying.
Inhale... guys... them recording their memories... Kory’s had me sad. Anna’s voice was so sad like it was great.
In addition to that... my poor heart when Dick came downstairs and Kory had turned into Carol like full pelt... I was like noooo. His face is like no.... no no no. Brenton does Dick’s facial expression just so damn well.
POOR CAROL!KORY. She was so fragile all like oh im sorry, did I do something wrong. And, I really love how Dick went from yelling at her cos boy is frightened and frustrated but then softens and is like no, it’s not your fault, its mine. And yes, I adored the hand holding and promising not to leave her, even if it was her Carol self. But, I agree with others on that; Dick’s face was sad cos he knows its not Kory doing it.
KORY HEARING WHAT DICK SAID ON THE TAPE AHHHHHHHH. Im so mad tho. Like he loved her since season 1 what the actual fuck man. Which, actually makes sense why he backed off in s2 and s3 cos like Kory was the one who put it out there about them figuring themselves out before they attempted anything romantic so maybe Dick took that as she wasn’t into it as well as like the not going to San Fran with them? Which makes me sadder. Like giving her space and time but really being like i luv you Kory. UGH. IM SICK.
The radio room was grim; Dick just walking around in these blood pipes like its nothing like even Rachel was like gross dude. Dick just walks out after like nah its fine; I’m covered in some randos blood but its all good.
TEHE the last bit where Kory says about it not being the painful memories. He 10000% now knows she listened to his tape and knows he loves her. Like pls.
Ugh Conner... what are you doing and why do I feel like you’re gonna fuck shit up again, ya little douche. He best not cause any harm to the other Titans with his stupid ass antics. I swear to Jesus.
That’s all of my long winded thoughts for both episodes! Can’t wait for next weeks and we get to see baby Gaaar!!

Some Ep 1 Live Action One Piece Thoughts
I absolutely plan to post at least a little something about each episode of Netflix's live action One Piece series. (Just dropped today!) I'll just be watching it at a fairly relaxed pace.
I've seen the first episode... and I think it got off to a pretty great start. I think anyone who had realistic expectations for it being good had already accepted that it's not the kind of series they'd be able to adapt scene for scene... but I thought the way they've reimagined it and brought it together so far was a lot of fun.
Beware for spoilers, and let's go!
I like to start with the Negatives first and end on a high note... and thankfully, there aren't that many of them:
It was cool to see Roger's execution scene brought to life... But I have to say, the narrator's voice wasn't as commanding and bold as what I would have cast for that role. Really minor detail, but... it stuck out to me.
I'm reserving judgement on the costuming department just now but... For a show that otherwise looks pretty good, sometimes the costumes feel just a little... off. Like cosplay that don't quite fit. There are places I suspect that's intentional... But too soon to feel decisive about it.
First 2 are the really minor details. There were a few story points that didn't hit quite right that are more worrying. Like, Zoro ends up strung up at Morgan's base because Morgan threatens to blacklist him at every other base if he doesn't join up with the Marines-- they'd refuse to accept the bounties he brings in. It was just a little more meaningful in the anime, that he was out there because they'd threatened to punish the mother and little girl he was defending instead. Similarly, Captain Morgan isn't really made out to be a guy that even his own people loathe and fear in this version. Episode one ends with Morgan's defeat... but not a clear indication that the base is about to get a total rehaul in management. Making it a little strange that Coby would stay on here.
But there were far more things that impressed me than disappointed or worried me.
For all the moments the costumes looked a little off, there was someone they got just right. Morgan looked great. They somehow managed to bring his jaw shield and axe hand to life without looking totally ridiculous.
I can't say I have complaints about any of the acting so far, but surprisingly, Helmeppo's been the one who impressed me most. Apparently this is Aidan Scott's first major role, and I wish him nothing but success in the future, because he's really acing every aspect of the role in this first episode. Makes me excited to see what he can do when I eventually get to the more emotional scenes with Helmeppo bonding with Coby and breaking away from his dad's influence. (Though if we're talking about great acting for the main characters, Mackenyu's really killing it as Zoro too.)
There are so many little details I want to shout out... Like, Zoro's name first comes up because Alvida's looking for him... because she's so vain and arrogant that she assumes the infamous pirate hunter must be looking for her. Which totally works. And there's this quiet moment where Coby's left to wash the blood off Alvida's clubs at the end of the night... It really reinforces the horror of his situation more than being ordered to do the more ordinary menial chores would.
Zoro's entire introduction scene was pretty fucking amazing. In the anime, he has this throwaway line about how a member of Baroque Works once approached him and tried to recruit him. That attempt at recruitment (and the resulting fight) are what we get to see play out in his introduction scene in the live action. (And you gotta love that bit where the movement of his sword blew out every memorial candle except the two he had lit.)
(And yes, it can be a little quippy, like I suspected, but that aspect's honestly not making me roll my eyes like I thought it would. In fact, it's been genuinely funny sometimes.)
But I think my favorite scene of this first episode is not the one where our first 3 crewmembers meet... but the one where they're all first in the same room together. Nami, Zoro, and Luffy (with Coby) all end up in the same restaurant in Shells Town. But they don't interact in that scene. They're all still following their own storylines at that point. It's a lot of fun to see it all come together, and the way they handle the 3 storylines all going on at once in the same place was really smooth.
We're off to a great start!

Six Eared Shadow
Do you remember the analysis about Mei and Red Son? That was me, and I'm doing this again, but now about Macaque and Sun Wukong
Because what the heck why do they hate each other so much
Tumblr media
Ok, so this... This is such a messy chaotic really chaotic mix of a few headcanons and theories I made up and it SOMEHOW turned into a fanfic that I wrote so long that other people made many similar things in meanwhile and now this sounds not original at all, but I wrote it not to keep it in my deep hidden shelf so here we go
(It's based on what I know from the lmk series. I've started to read JTTW, but I'm still not so far to get to know anything about Macaque, but I won't change anything about this theory from now on)
Let's gather some basic information for the start.
-> Macaque is made with a shadow or even he is a shadow (kinda shadow demon, the demon of shadow). I mean, shadow is not only his power, he literally is made with shadow matter. We know that because he can not only manipulate shadows but also go through walls and turn yourself into a shadow.
Tumblr media
-> I'm not sure if someone made him or he just "poof" out of nowhere just like Sun Wukong, but according to the story he told about how close he and Monkey King used to be, there's no doubt they had some master/student relationship which later turned into almost equal partnership. What is said, Macaque followed Sun Wukong for a long time, learning a lot from him, 'being his shadow'. They grew in power together, fought together, and (as it is said) Macaque started casting as Sun Wukong shadow, which (surprisingly) looks like he did willingly. Just look at the picture - the shadow is big and bright, it’s powerful and smiling, proud of his strength. He doesn’t look like someone forced to be Sun Wukong’s shadow. It shows how much Macaque admired Monkey King, that he wasn't just a friend for him, he was his idol.
Tumblr media
-> We all know Macaque is a shadow demon, he can easily change his appearance, he does not have to look like an evil clone of Monkey King, especially if he hates him now or something, SO even if he used to look up at Sun as his ex-student or ex-partner, and now we know he is NOT, he would prefer to not look so similar any more.
He can choose any other look, but he doesn't. Why? Well, maybe he actually cannot. Maybe this isn't an appearance he has specifically chosen, maybe this is his 'basic' comfy form and any other form would just take too much energy to keep up. And looking at the really tiny probability of two very similar monkeys just "poofing" out of nowhere, I dare to say, Macaque wasn't born (I mean like Sun Wukong or any other demon), but he was specifically created. And here is a question: on someone's purpose or not? Maybe the power of great Monkey King was so strong so the part of it just jumped from him and formed into another similar creature, but let me say it's just weird and I prefer the theory of Sun Wukong being so bored and lonely after his master's (Tripitaka) death, and he created a brother for himself from his own shadow. Just to have someone, anyone.
So Wukong created Macaque and then what? He trained him, he taught him everything he knew, maybe even he shared his powers with him. Some great great bonding time. But as Macaque said, something drew them apart. It is visible that Macaque blamed Monkey King for this, for 'forgetting him'. Before speculation of what happened then between them, let's focus on what Macaque showed us what he wants now.
We have two episodes, both show different sides of him. In season 1, Macaque's main goal is to steal Monkey King's power from Mk, and then to very specifically revenge. He visibly does not want to defeat Sun Wukong, he wants to hurt him as much as possible. Look: when Monkey King showed up, Macaque totally forgot about Mk. And then, when he's so close to defeat him, instead of that he turned to Mk and tried to kill the teenager. Mk is just a tool to hurt Sun Wukong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we can't forget how Macaque constantly pointed out all the weak sides of Sun, he's basically just saying on and on "you're weak, you're weak, you're so weak, I'm so strong, I'm strong, you are so weak". Which really fits the feeling of being forgotten because he was weaker and Monkey King was stronger, better, glorious and famous. Macaque really feels like that, he really tried to make Sun Wukong feel his pain by dominating him.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, we see that Sun constantly striked off him. He said almost nothing to him, just "Aren't you bored of keep being in my shadow? It's time to give back what you've stolen" and that was fricking all. For Monkey King, Macaque is a just shadow, always behind him, something you turn around and leave behind to not see it and to forget, like an unwanted past. An unnecessary problem, that irritatingly keeps returning to him. He does not want to interact to not make even a slight more bond between them, he wants to delete him from his life forever, and omg WHY. At this end of the ep, Sun Wukong did not even mention Macaque. He really doesn't care at all (or extremely tries to not care). His HATE is almost touchable, ouch.
In season 2, Sun Wukong LEFT US ALL ALONE. Macaque showed up again, he played with Mk a bit, and... Left? That's the thing, you see, he doesn't need to hurt or kill Mk. All we see is Macaque talking about his past and then letting Mk experience something the 'hero' in the story should have felt. The guilt. When Mk interpreted his story differently, seeing himself as the warrior, Macaque corrected him. Cause he doesn't care about Mk at all. He heard how Mk told him about what hurt him, and here is a funny point, because if Macaque needs to be understood, listening to Mk and talking with him (such a simple act of empathy, they both needed it then, guh) should have been enough. Mk really felt the 'warrior' character in the story, so he understood what Macaque felt. But surprisingly, that was not what the demon carved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macaque chose to make Mk feel like Monkey King at the moment something drew the demons apart. He wanted to force Mk to be sorry, to apologize, to regret his mistakes, cause he failed with forcing Monkey King to feel that. But! Maybe he is not as purely innocent and poorly forlorn. We see the flashback for a half of second before Mk hit him with Staff:
Tumblr media
We see Sun Wukong attacking Macaque who's in his demon (true) form.
Let's repeat this: Macaque felt as if a friend left him in the past. He said a friend did this to have all the "hero's glory" for themselves. We know Sun Wukong could do such a thing, especially before he met Tripitaka, but 1. In my theory Macaque is created after Tripitaka's death and 2. If (as my theory said) Sun created Macaque to not feel so lonely, he would never leave him for such a thing. So Macaque hides something for sure, something he did, something so terrible that made Sun Wukong attack him and not want to know him anymore. How horrendous thing Macaque did that made Sun Wukong choose to be alone again and to forget his dear brother he created by himself?
Back to the great bonding time, repeating speculation of "oh maybe they even share the powers" and comparing it to Macaque wanting to steal Mk's power, my theory here is saying:
Sun Wukong taught Macaque the technique of the same powers as he knew, but Macaque overused it (probably wanting to see how powerful he is, probably showing off and killing so many harmless people) doing terrible terrible things. So Monkey King took all of the powers from him and left him alone, powerless, with the last painful words: "Dont you dare to show in front of my eyes ever again". Of course Macaque was hurt, of course he didn't see why he's the bad guy, because he did not care about people at all. And of course Sun Wukong was hurt too.
Maybe he came back to the village Macaque had destroyed and following a quiet crying he found a little baby with a heart so clear and he put into him all Macaque's powers, making them sleep until the time will be right... But back to the series!
Tumblr media
Yes exactly. Why did he destroy the lantern and leave? Why did he suddenly lose interest in teasing Mk and stop forcing him to feel guilty?
First thing, he saw Mk is ready to fight for his friends seriously. He still cared so much about them, not like Monkey King about Macaque. That was hard to swallow, that was hard to watch for the demon. That was't the thing he wanted to see. And second, the flashback. Maybe the sudden realization that he actually did something bad. Cause Sun Wukong didn’t just leave him, he cast him out. It was hard to admit that he actually deserved this (or maybe much more), it’s much easier to blame others, not yourself. So Macaque felt “that’s enough” and left. Mk brought him to this uncomfortable point of admitting the truth. Which he didn’t want to. Maybe in the following eps, he will see it, but now Macaque just isn’t ready yet. But the last talk with Mk gives me a little hope. He stopped treating him like a tool or toy, he was actually talking with him like with a person, he even warned him about Lady Bone Demon.
Maybe (maybe) one day he'll see that humans aren't just useless creatures he can carelessly kill, maybe Mk will make him care and realize what he's done, but that's just speculation in speculation, he could die before he reaches that point, maybe he is already dead....
And that's it. That is all I wrote on ao3, but in the fanfic I put much more details and I build those characters up much more than here. This is only rough rough short-saying, I'm really sorry if you read it all
Oh and here is a link if you liked this above i'd love if you read the fanfic thank you

-----------
"Excuse me."
"Yes," Juyeon whips his head up to see a pregnant woman waddling over to the counter with an expression that looks murderous. Holding her belly against herself with a grocery bag slung over her shoulder, she slams her entire body onto the front counter, which causes him to jump in surprise.
"How are you, ma'am? How can I help you today?" Juyeon flashes a wan smile, used to dealing with unnerved clients. There's usually always a reason behind their madness.
"I have been waiting for at least an hour!" The woman bellows, practically red in the face, "I'm due in two weeks, and there are so many other pregnant women waiting behind me. How come it's taking so long?"
"Ma'am, I'm sorry we--"
"Do you know how hard it is for us, pregnant women, to sit here in this stuffed waiting room while babies are kicking?!" She interrupts with another yell as Juyeon's hands come up in defense, "I want to see Dr. Bae right now! Right now, you hear me? I'm tired! I want to go home!"
Panic rises at the back of Juyeon's throat, "I--I am so sorry about this ma'am. But due to the number of patients today, the office is running a little slower than usual. I'm really sorry--"
"I don't want to hear your stupid reasons. I want my appointment!" She bellows, "Now!"
Fear coils through his stomach, a sick feeling tying into knots as his throat dries up with the countless excuses dying on the tip of his tongue.
Shit, his heart races. How is he supposed to deal with that?
He'd give anything to be shadowing a doctor right now.
The door to the doctor's office suddenly slides open, revealing a gentle-eyed Jacob who's gaze quickly flits between them in understanding. The woman doesn't even wait a second, quickly twisting her body and waddling towards him.
"Dr. Bae, I was just telling your stupid staff here that you need to speed up your process! Do you know how painful it is to be sitting around with that?" She motions towards her belly, legs wide apart and fists clenched at her sides as though she's preparing for battle.
But Jacob's expression stays unfazed, "I apologize, ma'am. Unfortunately the speed of the diagnosis does not rely solely on me, but my patient."
"Yes, but--"
"Some have--" Jacob pauses, presses his lips together as sympathy flashes through his face, "some have difficult obstacles they've had to face in regards to their pregnancy. Not everyone is as lucky that their baby is growing up to be healthy."
The woman blinks, opening her mouth, then closing it upon realizing that she has been shocked into silence.
"I understand your frustrations, I really do," Jacob's voice is gentle, a soothing lullaby that instantly makes Juyeon feel like the world is a better place, "but we all have to cooperate a little, work together to make this work. Don't you think?"
For a moment, there's a complete silence so palpable that Juyeon can hear the ringing in his ears. He can feel the eyes of a multitude of patients drilling into the back of his skull and goosebumps suddenly explode along his arm at the sensation.
"Alright," the woman finally lets out a grumble, "fine. Whatever."
And she turns around, wobbly on her feet, before plopping back down at her seat looking slightly disconcerted by the effect of Jacob's words.
Juyeon sends the said doctor a look of utter gratefulness, which Jacob answers with a wink of his own before retreating back into his office.
Thank god.
---------
It's been a long day running back and forth between the maternity department and the pediatric ward, but it is only when the last patient bids their goodbyes that Juyeon allows his neutral mask to fall.
"I'm sorry doctor," he bows his head to the ground, not daring to make any kind of eye contact due to the embarrassment coiling through him, "It was my fault. I couldn't calm her down in time."
"No no," Jacob's lips curl up into a smile, face softening with understanding, "it happens all the time. Impatient patients are the norm around here. Mothers-to-be, especially."
"Still, I'm sorry."
"Did that swear you off the Maternity Ward then?" Jacob's smile widens into a teasing grin.
"Maybe."
"Well, if it's of any comfort, it's no better in the other wards."
"What do you mean?" Juyeon frowns.
"Some of them are always looking for donors, others always doing extra shifts. The pediatric ward is the only one that's doing okay, as of late. Cancer department is just a hole of sadness."
"That's...not very encouraging."
"That's the reality of it," Jacob shrugs, "did you give it any thought? What you wanted to specialize?"
"I don't know. Cancer, maybe. I'm not good with kids and the Cardiac Department looks like hell. Also, Organs make me squirm."
Jacob laughs at that, the sound bouncing through the room like sunlight, "that's exactly the same reason why I didn't want to specialize in surgery."
"That makes the two of us."
After packing up their belongings and clocking out for the day, Jacob offers to buy Juyeon dinner as a thank-you for helping him throughout the day and though the latter tries his best to refuse, the doctor insists that it's just something he does with all of his underlings, and that not treating Juyeon would just not be right.
So Juyeon has no other choice but to follow as they walk to the parking lot. They unexpectedly bump into Hyunjae and Changmin in the lobby, causing Jacob to invite them both to join.
"Why Jacob, I think that's the first time you're buying me dinner," Hyunjae can't help but comment as they settle at one of the tables of Mama's chicken, a small restaurant just down the street from their hospital. Juyeon smacks his thigh in protest, aiming to be subtle while the former stifles his groan of pain.
"What?" Hyunjae hisses venomously.
"You don't say those kinds of things," Juyeon hisses back.
"You only care because you want him to give you a good review."
"Piss off, Hyunjae."
The dinner goes surprisingly well considering that Juyeon isn't really familiar with Jacob. Having Hyunjae helps ease the tension between the interns and the doctors, lightening the atmosphere and loosening up his tongue. They share stories about patients, heart-wrenching stories about the ones they lost, and the ones that they managed to save. The more they spoke, the more Juyeon felt like this was the right path he'd chosen, after all this internal dilemma that had cost him a few years.
"So why did you want to study medicine?" Asks Hyunjae to Changmin, who is already slightly flushed from his second beer.
"I--uh--I just wanted to make the world a better place," Changmin stammers, ears flushing red, "I don't think I've considered anything else."
"See, this is the problem with interns," Hyunjae shakes a hand at him, "you guys think that being a doctor is honourable. It fucking sucks, okay? Like, it's really shitty. The shittiest of everything shitty in this world."
"Not all that shitty," Jacob intercepts.
Hyunjae scowls at him, "for you, maybe. You work in the Maternity Ward. What's the worst? That a pregnant woman comes screaming at you?"
At that comment, Juyeon can't help but glance at Jacob, eyes meeting for a quick second in understanding.
“I think I got used to that,” Jacob answers with a small smile, “Pregnant women don’t scare me.”
“You’re brave, Dr. Bae,” Hyunjae sniffs, “there’s no way I’d be able to make it.”
“Do you regret choosing to be a surgeon?” Changmin pipes up.
“Nah,” Hyunjae flashes him a grin then, leaning back against his seat and poking Juyeon’s neck as he does so, “couldn’t find myself a better match. Surgery is all I live for. It’s like me against death, and most of the time, I always win.”
“And the times you don’t?”
“You win some, you lose some. That’s the reality of it.”
When Jacob and Changmin bid their goodbyes, Juyeon accompanies Hyunjae back to the hospital -- the latter has a night shift. It is his second one in a row -- while throwing his friend a couple of worried glances out of the corner of his eye.
He knows more than anyone how much Hyunjae gives to the people. No matter how much bravado he puts on about doctors and how medicine really is like a beast you can’t tame, there’s definitely always a sparkle in the said doctor’s eyes whenever he talks about it. Juyeon admires that, and he admires Hyunjae (not that he’ll ever tell him though), but his stomach can’t help but churn with worry when he notices the darkening blue aprons underneath his friend’s eyes, or the tiredness lining them, red-rimmed and mouth pulled down in a way that only suggests he lacks sleep and energy.
“Hey,” Juyeon speaks up when they reach the hospital doors. Hyunjae looks back at him as he says, “try getting some sleep. You look like crap.”
“Thanks Juyeon. I’ll keep that in mind.”
“I’m serious, Hyunjae. Continue doing that and you’ll pass out in mid-surgery.”
“Yeah yeah,” the older man sticks out his tongue in retaliation, “I hear you, mother. You heading home now?”
“Yup. I’m done for the day. I got tomorrow off too.”
“Lucky bastard.”

A quick list of animes I watched and don’t want to forget:
Mushishi - pure, haunting beauty, 10/10 recommend especially when you want some clarity and calmness in your life. You’ll cry tho
K - the amount of tears I shed TwT I literally miss the characters. Weird af world and story, but somehow I got attached. There should be K: seven stories somewhere but I can’t find it... Also: this whole we’re a bunch of problematic people who become a family is a trope I’ll never get tired of
Tokyo Ghoul - S1 and S2 feel like one huge story and it’s just the beginning so buckle up... There are 2 OVAs (Jack and Pinto) that help with understanding Re: (S3) and then there is S4 which is apparently only the most important parts of the manga... I understand why so many people think that s4 is ridiculous, but the first 3 seasons are great. The manga is a must for the anime tho, bc the last season is a joke, so if you can, read the manga first. With that said, the censorship is terrible so if you can, watch it without the weird black and white patches that take up half the screen, because the animation, the fights, the colours are all extremely vibrant and alive, just like the characters. What being human means, why the police feel like they are doing god’s work when they kill innocents along with the psychos, what a family is, can we be selfish for others, and many more questions are discussed here, all while somebody gets gutted. S2 was much more like a filler than a normal season, but still, I cried, and the whole anime is awesome so watch it if you can. (If you get upset when humans are able to endure more than supernatural beings then it’s not your show, bc even though humans are supposed to be, you know, humans, they are still able to kill tens of ghouls with a fucking hole inside of them.)
Attack on Titan - got tired of waiting after s2... No mystery is worth more than a year of waiting lol
Black butler - I need to get around and watch the book of atlantis. Great story, Sebastian is everything and more, and the aesthetic is something I’ll never forget. The music fits perfectly, and the foods make me drool. It has the “big picture”, as well as small journeys where you can get to know your favourite characters which I appreciate. S2 was not something I enjoyed, but the book of circus was worth it as well as most ova’s.
Darker than black - THEY MUST CONTINUE IT BRING HEI BACK PLEASE PLEASE I CAN’T I JUST CAN’T - also s2′s opening makes me cry. Dolls and Contractors work together as a team, then alone, then again as a team... it was a wild ride. Awesome character development, great plot and world building. Sadly they cut their story and future at s2 for some reason... If I ever watch it again I watch Gaiden before Gemini tho - a lot less confusion and disappointment this way.
Bungou Stray Dogs - loving it with my whole heart can’t wait to watch it again because there is literally NO character I don’t love. It has pretty boys, crime, mystery, magical abilities and comedy alongside the surprisingly deep issues. The art style is otherworldly, everything is so PRETTY and CAPTURING ugh *-*. It also made me read lots of books again (especially Japanese literature which was new for me) ^^ (Who doesn’t ship Dazai and Chuuya... And Poe is a baby too)
Noragami - cute, very cute, I love it when the main character is powerful af yet has a silly, loving side. Also: you can learn a bit about gods and religion
Assassination Classroom - tears. all of them. tears. It’s not what I expected but still, the little assassins and the teacher’s relationship was perfect.
Another - i watched it for the dolls and the umbrella meme. Liked it? yes. Do I remember anything else tho? Not really
Parasyte - one of the first animes I’ve ever watched. Loved it. ^^ Migi was great, all the issues it brings up were thought provoking, and it has gore.
Hellsing - idk it had too many monologues and ideologies, didn’t finish it
Psycho-Pass - In short: cyberpunk future, systematic oppression, immigrants, killing with permission and other moral or societal issues, plus charismatic characters and gore. The watching order: S1, S2, Sinners of the system, S3, First inspector. Wonderful buildup, dynamic storytelling, great mystery elements, and of course the found family/teamwork will always be a favourite of mine. The writing is extra detailed, every character is 3D, their responses, beliefs and cultures are tied together perfectly, the chemistry between characters is relatable and although everybody seems to live by one goal only, it’s not as dull as one would think. It also has some great book recommendations, literature and philosophers play a big role, which is always a bonus. 10/10. I really hope we will get extra contents and S4 in the future.
Steins Gate - I can’t bring myself to watch the last 2 episodes of S1 lol. It starts slowly but it’s much better paced than I remembered. The anime heavily relies on the characters which are sadly very 2D: the haughty but loving, the cute but tragic, the clever weeb, the loving tsundere... and for some fucking reason every single girl loves the mad scientist who... doesn’t really show love or sometimes not even respect towards the others until the last half of the show, so I don’t particularly care about their fate, but I watch it bc I don’t want to leave it unfinished. Because people are so into it I thought maybe the story will be... flabbergasting, shocking or just a masterwork, but the whole time travelling thingy, all the rules, all the paralel worlds work very conveniently. There were some great twists that I loved, some that I saw coming and some that I didn’t, but the story itself isn’t the best and even the plottwists won’t help that.
Full metal alchemist - i watched many, many episodes. I liked it. But it lost me. Anyways, I looked up the story and it sounds interesting, lots of plot twists, great conspiracy theories etc. The main character was a bit... annoying. My main problem is that they were children cuz I can only get immersed in the adult characters’ stories...
Durarara!! - s1 was great I love gang and mystery stuff, BUT I stopped watching it bc I was only immersed in the adult characters’ stories...
The Ancient Magus' Bride - it’s a gory fairy tale, with two toxic but loveable characters who learn a lot, evolve a lot and become real companions. There is lots of touching, head pats and affection. <3 Seasond 2 is very much needed, I want to see more episodic journey elements like the cat kingdom episodes were, and perhaps cry just a little less. Pro tip: when you watched the first 12 eps you should watch the 3 episode ova and then the next 12 eps ;) Oh, and expect tears mostly from happiness
Devilman Crybaby - I was the crybaby. The ending is beautiful, the art style was great, it literally pulsed through my eyes sometimes. Awesome characters, weird storyline, sad ending.
Death Parade - another anime that made me cry :) Beautiful art style, immersive story, interesting take on the afterlife, moral issues. It had everything I needed,
Juni Taisen - It wasn’t the craziest or most cunning anime of all times, but I cared about the characters and I really wanted to know how it ends, so it was good i guess
Kekkai Sensen - i watched s1 and I didn’t care anymore...
BEASTARS - it was one hell of a ride. Interesting world, great conflict, highschoolers and gore... also I think there was a sudden rise in the numbers of furries while it aired. It’s art style however was too cgi-y, too smooth for me :/
Re: Zero - the main character is a little bitch i hated him but i stayed for the plot. I don’t really like love interests when one party is only loved because they look perfect... i really wish we got more seasons and explanations  s2 is on the horizon, but I doubt I’ll ever watch it
I’ll update it when I watch something else or I remember something I’ve watched.
Also in conclusion, what do i need in an anime? 1) adults 2) superpowers 3) found family 4) a brooding, powerful af main character 5) action and mystery (plus gore) 6) chemistry between characters 7) side characters that matter 8) tissues
Any recs?

a list of every anime i love/recommend, accumulated over the last 10+ years
1. NATSUME YUUJINCHOU
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
The main character is a teenage boy named Natsume, whose parents died when he was too young to remember them properly. He’s passed around random relatives homes, but because he can see yokai (spirits), he’s ostracized by classmates and his foster families (ALL HIS CHILDHOOD FLASHBACKS ARE SO FUCKING SAD) and eventually very distant relatives (an older couple who never had kids of their own and have so much goddamn love to give D:!!!) take Natsume in, and the story basically starts from there.
It’s a very heart-warming story following Natsume’s new life in this new town, accepting his ability to see yokai, forging new relationships in the form of friends and family, and even with the yokai themselves.
This is honestly probably my favorite anime/manga period, because it’s so sad but so cathartic and you watch as the main character grows and learns to trust those around him, and finally gets the unconditional love he’s always deserved, not to MENTION THE FACT THAT THEY DO A WHOLE EP WHERE NATSUME IS TURNED BACK INTO A LITTLE KID AND IT IS SOOOO GOOD OMG
Plus for those of you who enjoy whump, this show has a decent amount of it. Mainly emotional whump, but also some episodes where Natsume is injured or sick--as well as I believe one where his companion (the chubby cat on his shoulder who’s actually a pretty badass yokai) gets shot with an arrow and is down for the count.
10/10 would and have watched again.
2. KODOCHA NO OMOCHA
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:  The main character is a sixth grader named Sana. She’s a gifted actress on a t.v. show everyone likes and she’s silly and fun, very intuitive and surprisingly empathetic for a child.
Her main problem is in school, where Akito, who she deems the leader of her class’ wolf pack of rowdy rude boys, lets them terrorize not just the teacher, but all the girls in class, as well.
I don’t really want to give a lot away, so I’ll just state the obvious. This anime/manga is shoujo, which means that it does focus on a romantic relationship throughout the series. Mainly the one between Sana and Akito. Sana is absolutely oblivious about her own feelings, while Akito is a stubborn little shit.
I remember watching this at like, age 12 maybe? And I really enjoyed it because (although I do enjoy your typical silly doesn’t take itself too seriously slice of life shoujo) this particular anime, while super funny and light hearted at times, was also really dramatic and even kinda dark, which was surprising considering the characters ages and the general kid-friendly vibe (especially the opening for the anime).
3. DETECTIVE CONAN
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:  Our main character is initially Shinichi Kudo, teenage detective, who’s on a date with childhood sweetheart Ran (whose father also happens to a detective but like....not a good one lmao), when his nosy ass self decides to go and check out some shady business and gets “poisoned”.
The poison he’s given is intended to kill him, but what it actually does is turn him back into a child. And now, as Conan Edogawa, (who’s 7 but like....we just supposed to believe all these cops and detectives on the force are cool with a seven year old wee lil babe on these really gruesome ass crime scenes??? lmaoooo) we follow him on his adventures as he solves crimes and tries to solve the biggest mystery of all, his own!
I absolutely LOVE this anime/manga, even though I’ll be honest, there is SO MUCH FILLER, but I like the characters enough that I really don’t mind. The show is at least 900+ episodes in at this point, and there are a total of 26 movies so far, last time I checked.
Also, the show is a whump fangirls’ dream come true. The main character is thrown out of windows, balconies, shot at, and in one occasion actually shot, he’s had broken bones, sprains, almost been blown up or drowned/burned, been sick, and oh, his occasional transformations from child to teenager are incredibly painful.
This show is probably at fault for my love of whump, since it was one of my first animes at like, age 9. smh.
4. THE DEVIL IS A PART-TIMER!
Tumblr media
REVIEW:
I’m not even going to summarize this one. The title does it for me. This is truly one of the funniest animes I’ve ever seen. Motherfuckin Satan works at a McDonalds part time and it is the BEST.
Technically I would count this show as a kind of harem, but only because there are like three main girl characters after the overlord Satan himself. I usually dislike harem type animes but the way this is done is sooooo good I couldn’t resist.
I would watch a million filler episodes of Satan trying to solve problems at his minimum wage job tbh. I love every single character, I love the plot, I love everything about this anime! In terms of comedy (with the occasional plot driven serious moments) this is IT bro.
5. BLACK BUTLER
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
The main character is Ciel Phantomhive (roughly 14 years old). His parents are killed, his house is burned to ashes, and he’s kidnapped (around age 9 or 10 I believe) and abused. During this abuse Ciel calls upon a demon to free him and help him get revenge on those who harmed the Phantomhive household, which is where Sebastian, one “hell of a good butler” comes in.
We then follow Ciel and Sebastian on their path of vengeance, and along the way we meet Ciel’s human servants, three very clumsy and seemingly bad at their given tasks characters (i love them all), and some of his extended relatives and connections.
My favorite thing about Black Butler is the art, both in the anime and manga. Everything is so detailed and pretty!
The characters are interesting, the plot is dark but they manage to make most of the series overall pretty light-hearted and funny in general. Though of course there are chapters/parts of the series that get really grim (which duh, the whole thing focuses on revenge so...)
I have to say, the arc I enjoyed the most has to be the movie, Black Butler: Book Of the Atlantic. It is beautifully drawn and sooooooo entertaining.
6. INUYASHA
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
Our main characters are Inuyasha, a half-demon, who’s been in a sort of spiritually binding coma for the last few decades, and fourteen year old Kagome, who falls into an old well in her family’s shrine and finds herself being transported into another time period.
Together, she and Inuyasha travel across the lands in the feudal era to find the scattered shards of the shikon jewel, a powerful jewel which grants anyone who possesses it ultimate power.
I was too young to stay up and watch Inuyasha on adult swim, so my mom would tape the show on a VCR for me to watch the next day after school--yes, I’m old old. lmaoooo I ADORE this show.
It’s so good! It’s got everything! A tortured lil half-demon with a sad past who’s stubborn and rude but got a good heart! A fierce and equally as stubborn main protagonist, who’s whole ass family knows exactly where she goes off to??? and are supportive af????? like???? her mama packs her and her squad of demon/exorcist/demon hunter pals bentos?!?! lmao i love it.
The characters are awesome and funny and likable as all heck, and of course they all have their sad backstory, but like, unlike some animes (lookin at YOU Naruto) they don’t go mega overboard on it, at least not without some plot behind the episode.
7. YU YU HAKUSHO
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
Before I even start in on the summary, ya’ll should watch this soley bc of the cute ass 90′s style animation alone. LOOK AT ALL THAT SHINY HAIR!
ANYWAY. Main character is teenage hooligan and overall cutie pie Yusuke! He gets struck by a car and fucking DIES in the first episode after shoving a little boy out of the way, only to end up in the spirit world where the head honcho up there (who looks like a wee baby) tells him “Oh shit, didn’t expect you to like, actually do anything self-sacrificing EVER so like, you’re not on our list of people who were supposed to die today...”
And uh, I don’t wanna give anything away, so I’m just gonna say that if you haven’t seen this anime yet, you definitely should! It’s hilarious and dramatic, the fight scenes are very well done, all the side characters, who eventually become main characters are a blessing (specifically Hiei, who’ve I’ve had a crush on since I was 12) and the ending is a satisfying one, which you can’t really say for a lot of media.
8. CHRONO CRUSADE
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
I still get weepy when I think of this anime, so all I’ll say is it’s about a badass demon slaying nurse and her demon companion and some very tragic shit.
It’s a great anime overall, especially if you like crying yourself to sleep at night :)
9. GHOST HUNT
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
The main character is high school student Mai, who is hired by Naru, the head of a Shibuya psychic research, and together, with a group of questionable exorcists/psychics, they encounter paranormal phenomenons and some outright scary shit.
I’m not really a fan of the horror genre tbh but I do like mystery, and the series deals with that quite a bit. They deal with each case for several episodes so nothing feels too rushed.
The series is really fun in a creepy, wtf is that way. I recommend the manga, only because it’s more detailed in terms of plot than the anime.
10. ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM
Tumblr media
SUMMARY/REVIEW:
I didn’t really make this list in any particular order but if I had to say, Assassination Classroom and Natsume Yuujinchou probably tie for BEST ANIME PERIOD!
This anime is about a weird ass “alien” creature, no one knows where it came from or why tf it’s here on earth, all they know is that in one year it’s threatened to blow the world up.
His only request to the government is that they let him become a teacher for Class E, the worst class of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, and he will stay put, so that they can attempt an assassination on him during this one year period.
AND LISTEN! I am a shallow hoe, so I literally never would have read this manga or watched the series had I not been roaming Barnes and Noble one day with my S.O. and picked it up to read as a JOKE!
I was hooked after the first chapter and I am soooooooo glad I picked this manga up, bc it is absolutely not the type I would normally go for, cover art wise. I finally, after many many years, learned not to judge a book by its cover bc LORD this anime is so goddamn good, you don’t understand! Like, I’ve watched it so many times and still laugh at the same parts, cry at the same parts, am proud af at the same parts! like, this anime is an instant classic and should definitely be more popular than it is.
assassination classroom and natsume yuujinchou????? MASTERPIECES!

[History3: MODC] Ep 1-2 Summary - SOMEONE PROTECC XI GU PLS
Alright guys! I managed to make it home in time, and watched both episodes, but I guess I’m able to do a mini summary of sorts - But my verdict on the show is while the first two episodes seem a tad bit slow in terms of plot but there ARE NO GLARING PLOTHOLES THANK GOD and i gotta say I LOVE XI GU AND HAO TING AND BO XIANG AND ZHI GANG AND THE TWINS LMAO THEY ALL SO CUTE and surprisingly I like the main girl as well Si Yu although okay it kinda sucks that she’s going after Xi Gu while still attached to Hao Ting unless she was aiming for threesome but then no communication there and FRANKLY it might even be a love rectangle between Xi Gu - Hao Ting - Nintendo Switch - Si Yu lmao
We start off with Hao Ting and gang (the fiercer twin, Gao Qun, Bo Xiang and the other guy whose name I still don’t know but he’s a Singaporean actor) in class and the Chinese teacher reading off abysmally low scores ranging like in the 30s and below out of a 100, and guess what our lovely main lead Hao Ting scores THIRTEEN OUT OF A HUNDRED
And okay you gotta give it to Hao Ting - He’s a little shit but he’s a CHARISMATIC little shit with a glib tongue, anyway the teacher yells at him for being not serious about graduating and his friends cheer him on and are just generally obnoxious, and then Hao Ting quips that this is about freedom yeah, and of course the teacher is like fuck you dumbass & threatens Hao Ting that if he dares to leave this class he doesn’t have to come back
Don’t ever dare and threaten your dumbass jocks in class cuz they hear a dare they gonna CARRY OUT THE DARE TEACHERS HAVE YOU NOT LEARNT ANYTHING - so Hao Ting leaps over a desk and runs out much to the cheers of his friends and everyone in class who get up and run to the windows and doors to watch him go - And then one of his friends yell at him to ask him to buy fried chicken early from the canteen I think
And then cut to the next scene - The gang at the courtyard/stage thingy and Gao Qun filmed the whole thing earlier and is showing to everyone while they eat fried chicken, and then Hao Ting demands for 300 NTD each from his friends, who refuse to pay lmao although Hao Ting digs into Bo Xiang’s pocket and digs out some coins and keeps them
Then Hao Ting’s girlfriend pings him and he runs off
Cut to the infirmary, and HT’s shirt is half off as his girlfriend Si Yu is helping him to ice his shoulder and spray muscle relaxant on his back - She’s chiding him for being so reckless earlier and asking him not to do that again because she’ll be worried, and HT obviously soaks in the attention and TLC from her, and then they proceed to MAKE OUT
Pretty good makeout scene really, although idg why the camera angle had to show like her cleavage specifically like LMAO ARE U ALLOWED TO SHOW THE CLEAVAGE OF A TECHNICALLY UNDER-18 GIRL?!!! No idea, anyway, things get really heated up, but they’re interrupted
And XI GU makes his first appearance here!!! He’s taking a nap in the infirmary and is totally disturbed by these two horny teenagers, in any case SY and HT go out, although SY’s eyes are totally on XG as they leave - She’s curious about him
Then the infirmary doctor comes in, and obviously XG is like the apple of everyone’s eyes and I GET IT BECAUSE WHEN HE SMILES IT’S DEVASTATING - So the doctor is chiding him for not eating lunch (and if you read the character intro translation I did you’ll know it’s because XG is poor and he wants to save money, like that’s driving force behind all his actions for now at least) and because of that XG is obviously thin as fuck and pale like Edward Cullen - So doc tells him to take more care of himself and rest etc. etc.
And then side character 1 and side character 2 - SY’s friends, the girl (SC1) calls herself a fujoshi and is obviously a fan of XG and you’re a bit creepy but I get you girl, and then anw SY is asking SC1 about XG after she sees that XG is first in exams again, and SY gurl don’t two-time please
HT is DYING to buy a Switch, and after dinner with his fam, he tries to secretly ask him mom for money but the mom and sis totally gives him away and the dad threatens to hit him to see if ‘he’ll be more normal’ after that LMAO - and anw dad chases HT to the room but HT wins by shutting the room door and son and dad yell at one another through the door - But despite this u can see that they’re really close
Mom and sis settled on the couch eating fruits in the chaos - a MOOD
Then next day SY catches up to XG as he’s walking to (class? to lunch? idk?) and asks him to tutor her, and XG rejects her of course cuz he likes to study alone and he hates everyone else kinda but she insists and he refuses and then because they’re doing this on the stairs she slips and OF COURSE SMOL XG catches her and upstairs, the fiercer Xia twin videos it and them in that position
Fiercer Xia twin meets the rest of the gang on the rooftop but no one has much of a reaction to his news until he pulls out the video - HAO TING EATING REGARDLESS OF THE NEWS IS LIKE A BIG MOOD REALLY - the nicer Xia twin tries to speak up for XG because they’re like classmates, and then WHOA there’s a strange like almost-kiss moment as Xia En and Xia De like confront each other over that
HT finishes eating and goes confidently, “She won’t like him”
And then he goes to the infirmary wanting to take a nap right, and when he pulls open the curtain THERE XI GU IS ASLEEP AND THIS IS WHERE WE GET THE HAO TING FALLING ON XI GU ON THE BED SCENE FROM THE TRAILERS - And HT groans, “First he ruins my plans and then now he’s taken my bed”
HT reaches for a red pen from the table on the other side of Xi Gu’s bed and of course he falls and lands on the bed, and then XI GU WAKES UP AND HORRORRRRR
Doc comes in and reprimands HT for bullying/disturbing XG basically
And then I can’t remember where the scene is exactly but XG at some point goes to work at Zhi Gang’s soy milk store?!!! I think or cafe that sells soy milk lmao, and Zhi Gang asks if he’s eaten dinner, and XI GU SO CUTELY SMILES OMGGG and lies that he has, but obviously ZG already knows that XG is lying and already bought dinner for him, and also lets XG go home early out of consideration for XG’s studying schedule since he’s also studying to graduate this sem I think?!
Oh okay then before this scene, we have THIRSTY BO XIANG AT HIS COUSIN’S GYM WIPING THE EQUIPMENT AND ALSO TAKING SECRET PHOTOS OF ZHI GANG - His cousin catches him, makes a scene and he’s ZG’s personal trainer I think and when he lifts up ZG’s shirt to ‘check’ on his progress, wow, BX DROOLS OKAY
And then at some point, Si Yu ambushes XG in class and gets him to tutor her after school because he stays behind for two out of five days, and then the twins find out, so when the time comes, the fiercer twin bullies XG out of class, and SY is left disappointed
HT basically begins to skip school and part time, and helps his mom to give out flyers in his neighbourhood to earn some extra money, and he also somehow cheats his mom by deliberately over-counting his daily part-time rate LMAO, but the sis does the math and outs him, and dad chases after him to try to hit him again but HT ain’t scared at all and they just play cat and mouse
And then the gang corners XG during lunch, bully him and basically makes him late HALF AN HOUR for class which has NEVER HAPPENED TO PERFECT ATTENDANCE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE XI GU - He’s distressed because he needs a perfect attendance record and grades to get scholarship for university - So he’s fucking distressed, and the nicer twin at the back obviously sees it and he FEELS BAD and XG didn’t eat lunch again so he’s having gastric probably
End of the class XG begs the teacher not to record his tardiness because he really needs the scholarship, but the teacher is like everyone saw you come in so damn late, how can he like not put it on record? But when XG insists - white-lipped and shaking and all - teacher asks him to tell him why - and so XG tells him (which also doesn’t help him in terms of being bullied more by the gang when they find out)
So the gang ends up sweeping the corridor lmao
XG once again goes to work and kind-hearted LOVELY OPPA ZHI GANG gives him a bread again and asks him to go home early to study CRIES WHERE IS MY DADDY LONG LEGS
and BX probably because of his punishment, is unable to go to the gym for a while, but ZG asks the cousin where BX is
End of episode 2 shows BX on his bicycle cursing his cousin out for making him go all the way out to like... find a soy milk store, and GUESS WHAT SOY MILK STORE BELONGS TO HANDSOME ZHI GANG OKAY
Oh yeah and then he sees his lovely oppa in store helping XG to straighten out his collar and then he gets jelly
and the next day he confronts XG and pushes him against the wall and THE EPISODE ENDS HERE LIKE STOP DIS BULLYING
THOUGHTS ON THE SHOW:
This is pretty damn cute so far i have to admit, and I PROMISE YOU ONE OF THESE EPISODES, XI GU IS GONNA FAINT FROM HUNGER OR ILLNESS AND THEN EVERYONE FINDS OUT HOW POOR HE IS AND HAO TING CARRIES HIM TO THE INFIRMARY AND THEN BULLY GANG REGRETS BEING SO MEAN TO HIM
And for now, it seems like Si Yu may actually be supportive when she finds out that HT has taken an interest in XG - More on that in the next trailer I think, because somehow HT will mess up and XG ends up losing his first place on the exams and walks away dejectedly as HT regrets being a fucking idiot
And also at some point Zhi Gang will see Bo Xiang having fun with another girl on the streets and be all pissed and jelly and withdraw, and then HT tells BX to please go apologise and get him back, which BX attempts to do - CRIES HANDSOME OPPA IS DEFINITELY ZHI GANG OKAY

Rhapsody of a Broken Heart
Anticipation | Episode 1

~1600 words & ~7 mins of reading
────────────────────────────
11 pm
Kia finally finished her painting of her mother, who fell asleep during posing, after long hours of working without taking a single break. She puts her brushes away and gets up to wake her mom up. She gets off the puffy chair she was sitting on and approaches her, reaching her hand out to wake her up. Lira eventually wakes up after a short while of being gently shaken.
“Mom I’m done, come look” Kia sounds somewhat tired while saying that. Her mom agrees. Kia helps her to get up and then Lira takes a look at the painting her daughter made.
“Whoa!” Lira didn’t expect to see such a well-made painting of her, it put a massive smile on her. Kia ended up receiving tons of compliments which made her feel confident about her teachers liking it too. Which after Kia went to clean up and let the paint dry. Once she was done, she was told to go rest, she did. Before her door was shut, her mom came in.
“Hey, Kia.” “...Yeah?” Kia asks while yawning. “I have a flight in 3 hours so I’ll get ready to leave. You will be alone for the weekend. Goodnight.” After this, Lira closes the door to Kia’s room. Kia spends most of the night dreaming about meeting her cousin for the first time in her life. The reason why they never met was that her aunt lives in UK but Kia in the US.
. . .
9 am
Kia wakes up, wakes up remembering about all the homework she has to do. It is surprisingly quiet it is at their place. Their neighbors usually sang karaoke at this time or clean up. She decides to use the situation to focus on her studies.
.
She calls her boy, Hess, over so he’d help her with things she doesn’t understand. He agrees to come over, Kia gets really happy but remembers that she has to study, not fool around with him.
Hess – Kia’s neighbor, best friend, and a boyfriend. Though, considering how long they’ve known each other for, you almost could call them siblings.
.
He comes right when Kia was making breakfast. She asks if he’d like to eat with her, he agrees. They chat while having a nice and tasty breakfast. Hess tells her about things that are getting worse between him and his family, he feels way better at her place because of how peaceful it is here, comparing to where he lives. Kia could never understand why his parents don’t like him, comparing to his little brother. She considered Hess a really kind, warm, and a clever person, not like his younger bro, who is still really young. They end up talking about Hess’s family for a long time and at one moment Kia remembers about her homework again and asks if he could help.
“Oh?...Yeah, of course. Is there a lot?” he asks. “I’m not sure, I’ll go check,” Kia responds, walking out of the kitchen.
Hess took care of the dishes while Kia was gone. After a while she returned with a bunch of books and placed them all on the sofa in the living room. She notices that there are no plates on the table and looks at Hess
“Did you wash the plates?” “I did.” He replies “Aww! You didn’t have to!” She chuckles “That’s a habit.” He says while approaching Kia, he notices the pile of books “Do you expect me to help you with everything?” “That would be nice if you did, you’re good at explaining.” “I am?” he seems to be slightly surprised “You really are! Don’t I tell you that all the time?” she grins He slightly blushes “I- Thank you..” That sounded somewhat shy Hess sits next to Kia and they begin working together.
.
After 2 hours they finish with the first subject out of 4. Kia gets up and stretches, she looks out of the window.
“Maybe we should take a walk?” she asks, turning to Hess “Is it warm outside?” “A little breezy but we can if you want to.” He replies “Get up. We’re going on a walk then.” Hess nods and gets up. He waits for Kia to quickly change into something she could go on a walk in. Soon after, Kia returns. They make sure to lock all the windows and the door of course.
. It was really peaceful and warm outside. One of the warmest days in the entire spring. Kia persuaded Hess to hold hands with her while walking. It doesn’t seem like he’s not enjoying it and he’s not even trying to hide that. They both seem to be happy to be together.
Tumblr media
They speak about school some more. Hess will graduate soon and Kia graduates in a year. "So..you never told me what you will do after you're out?" She asks him. "Medical School." “Won't it take too long to study in a medical school?” “It will but I believe that it’s worth it.” He began telling her about his dream job being a doctor. He didn’t expect her to be interested but she was. It felt as if nobody had ever cared more about his dreams than Kia. It’s sad to know that there are people who keep everything to themselves. Luckily, Hess has Kia, who seems to be ready to listen to anything he’d say.
Suddenly, rain starts. It doesn’t ruin the mood these two were in, though the break was ruined. They went into a café and ended up studying here cuz Hess got a few books with himself... After the rain has stopped, they quickly went back into Kia’s place and continued to study.
.
11 pm
Kia and Hess spent their entire day studying and chatting. They agreed to have a sleepover. Hess fell asleep on Kia’s bed while she was making a sketch of him.
Once she was done, she noticed him sleeping. She lies down next to him and snuggles into him. Quickly after, she fell asleep without waking him up.
.
4 am.
Hess randomly woke up and saw Kia be slightly hugging him. That kind of made him blush. He isn't used to affection so it felt nice. He tried coving them both with a blanket, though his attempt was unsuccessful cuz he was afraid of waking up his sweetie. Instead, he pulled her closer, which, luckily, didn't wake her up. He managed to fall asleep.
At around 7 am they both were woken up by a call on someone's phone. It was Hess's mother calling. He didn't want to pick up and turned the sound off, going back to sleep, since they both were still really sleepy.
Z Z Z
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" Kia shakes Hess while telling him that. He gr0An "nn..what time is it..?" "1 pm already." She replies. "..what? ..oh..when did I even fell asleep?" "At around 11." He was still really sleepy but hearing that he've slept for this long surprised him. Kia gave him some time to properly wake up and waits for him in the living room. Hess comes after a few mins. He looks like a mess. "I'll take a shower." "Of course. Don't forget to take your clothes off." "I- pff- why wouldn't I?" "Last time you didn't." She giggles "Wait, really? I don't remembe- OH. Right. ahah." It kind of lightened him up. He peaced out into the bathroom... After a while he's out. Kia seems to be talking with someone over the phone. ....Hess' phone. He watches her do that. Seems like she's talking to his mom....or no? She's always so nice to everyone that its hard to say who exactly she's speaking to.
Tumblr media
He goes to sit next to Kia. Right when she ends the call. "Morning!" She happily greets him. "More like 'good afternoon'. Who were you talking to?" "My mom" "..On my phone?" "Eh?" She looks at the phone she's holding. She gets up and goes into her bedroom. She walks out with a phone just the same as his. "Seems like we are phone mates," she says "..aw." his expression went <:) Its fun to have something that matches. Kia hands him his phone. He checks it and sees 3 missed calls from his mother. Kia notices it. "Not going to call back?" "I don't want to.." seems like he's just fed up with his parents to the point where he doesn't even want to listen to their voices.
She sits next to him. "Hey" He looks at her "yeah?" "I'll get a sibling soon." He's silent for a moment He's confused "..What? Is your mom going to give b-" "no---" Kia interrupts him. "What then? Adopting? And by the way...where's your mom?" "She's in the UK. She will bring my cousin tomorrow." "Ohh... I get it. So you will live with your cousin from now on?" "I think so?" "Why though? Did something happen to your cousins parents?" "I have no idea and hopefully didn't."
.
The day passed quickly. Kia spent most of her day telling Hess what she would love to do with her cousin and simply dreaming about her. Thought when the evening came, he said that he couldn't stay here any longer. It made K a little upset but she was glad that they spent so much time together.
.
Night. Kia is peacefully sleeping and having a nice dream about her meeting her cousin. She's not even sure if its a girl or a boy! And how old they are..or anything about them at all. Though, she thinks that her cousin must be younger since Lira, her mom, has a younger sis. At one moment her dream gets really realistic. As if someone us actually hugging her. Feels good.

Thank you so much if you gave this ep a shot! It may seem to be a little boring in the beginning, but I swear that it will get more enjoyable in the future! :)
Tiny spoiler for the ones that will stay: no, the story wont be about these two. There will be a big amount of main/side characters and not all of it will be all so wholesome (;

Game Of Thrones episode 3 thoughts
Alright ep 3 is done and... I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed. The battle was beautiful with the fire versus the darkness and all of that but... That's it?
Main stuff that I had a problem with:
The death count - really? You had me invest so much emotion last episode in worrying and being sad and in the end it's over nothing? I mean I don't want people I love to die but like at least Gray Worm or Brianne or something right? Ed, Baric, Theon, Jora and Malisandra who decided to go die on her own for some reason and that's it?
Handling of the dead - so some deads were risen in the crypts but no dead beloved Starks? And we didn't even get any shot of someone having to kill a recently dead friend who was risen and it's all emotional like... Why not?
End of the war - So the army of the dead is defeated in ep 3 and then the rest of the season is... The game of thrones? The big bad is Cercei? How can she be more important to the endgame than the Night King?
Arya killing the Night King - I don't know how I feel about this. On their behalf I have to say the forshadowing was surely there when you look at it. She was always connected to death and the White Walkers are death incrinated so that makes sense. And the part about the blue eyes? Genius! Did they know they're going to do this since that episode in season, what was it 3? If it was planned so early then honestly kodus to them! That's a line that didn't appear in the books and the character of the Night King doesn't even exist there so that forshadowing belongs to the show, which it's probably the only foreshadowing the show did that was so long and serious which is amazing.
On the other hand - in the way narrative and plot usually work, the Night King belongs to Jon. Jon should have been the one to take him down because he's the one who has the history with him and the buildup of so many years that he dedicated to fighting the White Walkers. Who is Arya that she deserves to take him down, while Jon was preparing for this war she was still doing whatever it is that she did in Baraavos lol.
Small(er) things:
Good:
Beautiful cinematography wow, the shot of the dothraki with the flaming swords like dots of fire progressing to the mist was the best thing I've seen.
Related to that - there were these beautiful transition effects when there was the battle scene and then fog crept in and when it left it was another scene.
It was interesting seeing Arya dealing with everything. She's a great assassin but she's never actually been to a war. She dealt with it pretty great, but in the end Malisandra reminded her that she's better at being an assassin after all, which is exactly what she did. But she still had some great moves with that spear.
Damn Lyana mormont. What a shot, such a tiny girl being held by a giant and then taking him down. A new David and Goliath. The true MVP of this ep. You will be missed small badass girl.
Theon was a surprisingly good fighter there. Kind of teared up at Bran saying he's a good man, because that approval is what he was trying to get all of his life, and he finally did! Damn Theon you will be missed.
Bad:
The darkness problem Oh My God. Watched the ep in the morning with some natural light coming in and I couldn't see anything. I thought Jora died like four times (before he actually did), and somebody was thrown from the wall into the wights and I still don't know who that was.
By not opening the door when those soldiers screamed for help Sansa sealed her fate to forever be a cold hearted bitch. I mean I love her but REALLY? And did she end up using the dagger and protected somebody in the end? Because again I didn't see sh*t because everything was so dark.
Why the hell did Dany decide to give up the plan? And it looks like Jon said 'fuck the plan' too and joined her. Poor Bran I guess nobody cares about him.
Interesting:
Out of the people who said they're gonna be in the crypts last ep, Gendry and Sam went out to fight, but Tyrion stayed in. Why?
When Dany fell of the dragon she looked so tiny and afraid, with this fur coat that doesn't suit to fighting at all. I felt like there was kind of a parallel there to Jon, who while is a badass on the back of a dragon is also a badass on foot with a sword. But she did caught on to fighting pretty quickly and even killed a bunch of wights, unlike Sansa who was so afraid to do anything. (Yeah I'm still bitter about that. Why did they include this side plot of Sansa being afraid at all? What did it bring?).
Ghost was there for like 2 seconds! But since Jon is doing dragon riding who is giving Ghost commands? Or is he that well-trained?
Jon this ep was like a level 1 dragon rider who had to do like level 7 dragon air battle.
Malisandra! What a weird time for you to get there, right in the start of a battle. Or maybe she already got there last ep and we weren't shown? And what the hell is all of this lord of light cheating. At least it looks like all those Gendry pants leeches and Shereen burning were worth it.
Bran warged into Raegal right? Because at one point Jon said "Bran!" and looked at the dragon.
That's it I guess.

 CHARACTER SUMMARY
If you think you’ll encounter an angel because you’ve judged him by his looks alone, you will be deeply disappointed. In lieu of sweet tunes, you’ll get an earful of pirate-like swearing, profanity, and absolutely no filters. For better or worse, Avery is honest - sometimes brutally so - and doesn’t know the first thing about propriety. His morals are his pillars despite the dysfunctional mess that is his past; however, his own integrity is merciless and predominantly black or white. Regardless, you shouldn’t mistake him for level-headed or even cerebral; Avery is a complicated, contradictory clusterfuck of a person --- all white-knuckled protests aside, he is a very emotional lad, prone to anger issues, and an even poorer developed impulse control.
As somebody who became homeless when still a minor, Avery is no stranger to the ends to which some had to go in order to survive. He might not be gallant, buoyant or even very talkative, but he is humble, charitable and noticeably protective over those who have no means of defense. Nowadays, Avery stays afloat working odd jobs, the most notably one being his position as a drug dealer for the Morrison family. Beyond that, his ability to ascertain how full of shit people are has proved rather lucrative, too. In the end, he has been through too much, has seen too much and heard too much to be fazed by humanity’s depravity anymore, and thereby doesn’t dare reach for the stars. He still lives in an abusive home mentally sitting at disconcertingly silent dinner tables, and making tired excuses for angry welts under layers for him to have any motivation other than to simply sleepwalk through life.
 APPEARANCE DESCRIPTION
Swinging calloused fists, throwing uncouth threats left and right…at the imposing height of 5’4. Although Avery will still feed you your teeth if you reckon it’s cute to call him pipsqueak or any other derogatory remark as to his height, he has come to think of his lanky, tiny, and largely androgynous appearance as an advantage. Looks can deceive, his in particular, because if there’s anything he’s not, it’s helpless. Be that as it may, there are self-image issues along with a deeply-seated insecurity at play regarding his physique, and overall gentle aura, which he contrasts with a collection of tattoos. For attentive listeners, you will hear a mostly Bostoner accent mixed with a faint German undertone while his voice is deep, masculine, and has a raspy current to it. It is not a shock, though, that Avery’s demeanour doesn’t exactly inspire pedestrians to chat him up at a park. As for clothes: just be on the lookout for a scowling, tiny lad in black from head to toe.
PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION
Contrary to his cantankerous tunes, Avery knows when words of thanks are in order, and he is not at all too prideful to express his gratitude. Anything you give him freely, whether time, trust, or tears is valuable to him. Generally speaking, however, he is best described as being of a melancholic-choleric temperament, a man of few words but decidedly strong convictions who won’t hesitate to play devil’s advocate in order to call you out on your own hypocrisy. What he isn’t, though is deceiving because honesty is an integral part of his belief system; the engine without which the machine would come to a complete standstill. What’s most important to note about his general disposition, additionally, is how much of a duality Avery can be. Endearing at times, and then downright base. This boils down to his anxiety frequently expressed through rage, and insecurity. Ambivalent doesn’t even begin to cover how his personality oscillates between aggressive and dependent absolutes. As enigmatic as he is towards others and himself, though, there’s nothing uncertain about the fact that he is secretly an idealist in a misanthropic realist’s clothing. He wants to believe only the best in people, but also knows when there’s nothing to be done other than to turn some away. In the same vein, Avery struggles with emotional expression – full stop. Due to trauma, genetic factors, and environmental influences, trust is nearly an impossible feat for him; that goes both ways: towards others and himself, thus, while fiercely instinctive, it requires a game guide to unlock personal dialogue, resulting in suspicion and rebellious behaviour to cover up the fear of abandonment.
SKILLS / COMPETENCES
By general standards, Avery’s academic gap in his CV doesn’t speak well for his skills or competences, as one would be quick to presume he’s got none at all, which isn’t true. Regardless of having only done the utmost necessary before dropping out of school, he’s not a monolingual. Since his mother has German roots, their household was bilingual, with English being the primary language in their earlier developmental stages, and German introduced at around six to eight years old respectively. His level of proficiency is high in both languages, making him bilingual despite no linguistic talent or inclination to broaden his horizon. There’s also something to note about his dexterity, for his hands aren’t only his most important tools in his career. Indeed, most of his hobbies revolve around crafting or creating something – woodwork being one example.  He is also, perforce, an amazing cook and is known to hand out free food to friends who are, unfortunately, still homeless. What’s more, he has been blessed with an impeccable singing voice --- hard, soft, raspy currents like ripples in a river. Up until middle school, too, Avery used to participate in competitive running marathons, along with a penchant for precarious hobbies like skateboarding and parkour, the latter of which he gave up after too many unsuccessful attempts and stays in the hospital. Lastly, and this is vital, he has a natural gift for reading others; he is not easily deceived.
INTERPERSONAL MANNER
How Avery approaches you or comes across is entirely dependent on you – because when he smells bullshit or feels in any way lied to, threatened or manipulated, you’ll encounter his belligerent, patronizing and stubbornly righteous side. If you’re straightforward with your intentions, Avery is more likely to warm and loosen up around you. All in all, he is easy to like, but hardly few really know him. Since his family is a subject best not breached and linked to survivor’s guilt, Avery, for now, is on his own, excluding Lin, Trish, and Síle. Sometimes, even, the lad refers to his own room as a coffin. Unsurprisingly, his sexual relations are strictly physical, and any romantic interest is generally suppressed. If he were actively searching, however, Avery would best respond to unabashedly frank men who are assertive or creative – physically, he likes his men tall, muscular, preferably inked, and not afraid to straight up ask him to fuck. Moreover, given his demons, Avery works very hard to keep the shreds of stability he has in his life, which is why you will not hear him argue unless it’s something he categorizes as fundamentally wrong; he absolutely detests screaming or raised voices.
 Additional notes:
His voice claim is the same, i.e. Andy. Is anyone surprised?
Frequently lewd and downright tactless towards men, which is not reminiscent of his bad flirting skills but rather an indicator to please leave him the fuck alone.
Sugary sweets as bribery? 100% effective
Drinks an unhealthy amount of energy drinks to doze rather to deeply fall asleep because the feeling of falling asleep makes him incredibly anxious - night terrors are common.
Listens to bad German punk band and dub step. Definitely don’t allow him to play his music should he ever be in your car lest you’ll suffer profusely.
Has the almost compulsive need to play with items directly in front of him.
His younger sister detests him for walking out on her and leaving her with an alcoholic, abusive dad. Years prior, their mother left one day and never returned.  She hopes he’s dead in a ditch.
His relationship with religion is...complicated, to make use of a gross understatement as his family were zealots who only accepted their truth as the way to live. Consequently, Avery also has self-image issues and low self-esteem.
He feels more comfortable and considerably safer around women as far as platonic relationships go, and has an easier time opening up to them.
Natural ginger. Heat and Avery? Not a good mix.
Smells faintly of turpentine oil and citrus-scented utensils for cleaning because he is a neat freak.
Do not allow him anywhere near paper because he will doodle on anything.
Utilizes his art as a means to express himself emotionally.

My Top 10 Favourite Anime (And Why You Should Watch Them)
This is normally something I would put on my main blog, but I wanted to celebrate a follower milestone and also I know this will reach a significantly wider audience on this blog.
Consider this both a list of recommendations and a *get to know me* thing, I guess.
Honourable Mentions:
Bakemonogatari: A really stylized show about a semi vampire helping people with their supernatural afflictions born from emotional issues. The subsequent seasons get a little questionable, but this is definitely a standalone story with great dialogue and visuals. (15 eps)
Shiki: Creepy story about a small town infested with vampires. Really brutal and sick, but it has fascinating themes. The pacing is a bit slow and it has a kind of bad scene towards the end, but the show is 100% worth it. (24 eps)
Cardcaptor Sakura: Because this is mostly aimed at younger viewers, I would only really recommend this show for either magical girl fans, or people who watched the extremely altered dub as a kid. That being said, its a cute, fun show about magic with a likeable cast and surprisingly creative and original ideas, especially towards the latter half. (70 eps)
Jojos Bizarre Adventure 4: Diamond is Unbreakable: Full disclosure, I have not seen the first 3 jojo series, but its not necessary to enjoy this show. This is a super creative and really fun series about superpowered badasses in a strange city fighting each other and trying to solve a murder mystery in the background. Weird, but in the best way. (39 eps)
Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus: This should be higher on the list, but in truth I would recommend the manga way over the show. But, if you want to watch a supernatural horror/comedy without reading a 138+ chapter manga, OR you were a fan of the original Black Butler seasons and want to see something way better, give this a watch. (10 eps)
*drumroll*
10. Trigun
Tumblr media
So Trigun takes place is this old west, yet mysterious science fiction-y world where, through a bunch of complicated scenarios, a pacifist is the most wanted criminal known to man. Due to his status as a “natural disaster,” two insurance workers are tasked with reining him in to save their business. It’s an incredibly charming series, and the protagonist is really likeable. It’s extremely creative, funny, and emotional near the end. I do have some problems with the ending because it almost seems like the final conflict just...solves itself, but that’s a nitpick. The first episode is basically a short film, so give that a watch and see how you feel. (26 eps)
9. Paranoia Agent
Tumblr media
This was directed by the late and great Satoshi Kon and has his usual themes about the blurring between fiction, dreams, and reality. It’s about a string of mysterious assaults committed by a kid with a baseball bat, and how these assaults seem to solve the problems of the victims. It’s very arthouse and has a twist that makes me ball my eyes out even though it’s not sad it’s just...odd and overwhelming. It drags a bit near the middle, but if you like kind of surreal stuff that’s also just really good, you have to watch this show. (13 eps)
8. Baby Steps
Tumblr media
The amazing thing about this show is that its premise is specifically designed to make me hate it. It’s about a nerdy teenager who starts to play a sport for the sole sake of getting fit and having a more well rounded life style, and also he has a crush on this really popular girl. That sounds fucking awful, but the main character is actually really likeable (he reminds me a lot of Deku from BNHA) and I swear to fucking god every time I thought this show was going to do something awful and cliched with its romantic comedy plot, it doesn’t. The beauty and the geek trope is still there, but all of the bullshit that comes with it is omitted in a way I feel was kind of self-aware. The sports aspect is really good too: it’s well paced and there’s lots of tension even though the show as a whole is really upbeat and pleasant. I had a blast watching it, and if you can make it past the fact that is has god awful animation, give it a watch.
7. Higurashi: When They Cry
Tumblr media
Yet another great show with absolute garbage animation. Anyways, this show is about a group of teenagers in a small town who are unknowingly trapped in a time loop. In each loop there’s a bunch of new mysteries, as well as some extremely brutal murders and tortures experienced my the main cast. I’ve seen a number of Western shows (Orphan Black, BBC Sherlock, Lost, Supernatural, etc.) fall apart because the writers want a really clever and intricate mystery to play out, but they don’t want to actually put the time into crafting one, so it’s just a bunch of cliffhangers with no answers or pay off. THIS SHOW SUCCEEDS AT WHAT ALL OF THOSE OTHER SHOWS FAIL AT. While not all of the answers are great (the second season isn’t as good) the original author somehow made the world’s most ludicrously complicated mystery story work, with a lot of it relying on the audience to put all of the pieces together even when the characters can’t. Its very clever in doing that: it makes its audience feel smart. It also has themes that don’t really show up in other horror stories, even though they’re incredibly relevant to fear and violence. Great show, go watch it. (50 eps)
6. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Tumblr media
Everyone knows about this show, everyone says it’s great, and everyone’s right. If you’ve been living under a rock for ten years: the show is about two brothers who break an alchemy taboo, which destroys their bodies, They’re on the hunt for something to restore them to normal and along the way they meet like 8990354578579 characters with interesting stories. It’s tightly written and really gripping. It’s fun, but also really dramatic and emotional when it needs to be. My only problems with it are that the ending is reaaaallllly convoluted, and there’s a minor plot point earlier on that gets weirdly dropped, but everyone kinda forgets about those things because the show’s so good. Also the brotherly bond makes me cry. (64 eps)
5. FLCL
Tumblr media
I honestly don’t even know where to start with this show because it has the unique property of being the only show I have ever seen that I have literally no problems with. Not even nitpicks. There is nothing wrong with this show; it’s perfect. The only reason it’s not number 1 is because some other shows have more ideas or more fleshed out characters. So this arthouse spastic comedy is about a boy who is disappointed with all of the adults in his life, then some chick hits him in the face with a guitar and giant robots from a secret facility start coming out of his head. It’s fucking wild and has like 30 different aesthetics and I love all of them. It’s the best looking show I’ve ever seen and one of the best directed. It feels like someone read a really weird poem and turned it into a 6 episode show. It’s funny, it’s emotional, it’s cartoony, it’s beautiful, it’s raunchy, it’s poetic, it’s silly, it’s creative, and it’s got strong themes. The wtf visuals, the nonsensical plot, and the amazing soundtrack make an aesthetic experience more than anything. (6 eps)
4. Princess Tutu
Tumblr media
I already made a post about this show and why it’s good, which you can check out here, but the gist is it’s a meta fairytale about a duck that turns into a girl to help a storybook prince find his emotions. I used to love stories that were “twists on fairytales” or whatever, but after watching this show I realized that the genre is pretty derivative. This show is so amazing it honestly made me reevaluate an entire genre and come to the conclusion that this is the only member of that genre worth watching. It’s truly creative and well crafted with fantastic characters. (26 eps)
3. Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Tumblr media
This show is basically a bunch of creative ideas, unique set pieces, and interesting characters stacked on top of each other in a trench coat disguised as a narrative. It’s about a perky shonen protagonist and a child assassin becoming friends while also trying to become hunters (a position involving vast wealth and adventure). It’s in a modern fantasy setting so literally anything can happen. In one arc they have to play life-or-death dodgeball against robots, and another is an insanely epic tale about the intense evil that people are capable of (feat. a 25 episode climax). I can’t even talk about all of the themes or ideas because there are just too many. Because of it’s wild, sprawling story, it has a lot of ass pulls and retcons, but in the grand scheme of things they don’t really matter. It’s long, but super easy to watch in huge chunks. (148 eps)
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion and The End of Evangelion
Tumblr media
The most efficient way to describe this show is to say that it’s the most interesting show ever made. It’s about an apocalyptic future in which emotionally disturbed teenagers must pilot giant bio-machines to fight monsters which are referred to as angels. It’s got deep characters, a creative story, and is probably the most well directed show I’ve ever seen. The ending infamously fell apart due to production problems, so there’s a movie called The End of Evangelion to conclude the story. It’s a very disturbing arthouse movie, so watch out for that, but the show as a whole is moooosssstly more straightforward and fascinating, This is an absolute must watch. (26 eps and 1 movie)
1. Baccano!
Tumblr media
Baccano! takes place in 1930s New York, and is about thieves, gangsters, criminals, terrorists, alchemists, and immortals interacting in this nonlinear comedy/action thrill ride. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster while watching this show. It’s the perfect blend of action, comedy, romance, drama, horror, and creative storytelling. It’s fantastic to rewatch since the first episodes barely make any sense without context (but are still an absolute joy to watch). It’s got great characters and it’s a great story. Go watch it. And then watch it again. (13 eps and 3 OVAs)
That’s it for this list! Check out my MAL page for more recommendations if you’re interested and have a great night!

Carisi-centric thoughts on Ep 19x01
A new season of SVU, and a new series of these posts! It appears I still have a lot of things to say about this show, lol. Welcome to new readers/followers, and welcome back to my old friends :D
Overall Thoughts
A good premiere. Surprisingly so. I forgot what it was like to watch SVU without my blood pressure rising every 2 minutes because of muddled messages and heavy-handed preaching. We had a relatively straight-forward case, good actors playing the perp and the victim, a memorable defense attorney, good dialogue (what???), a little rule-breaking which gave us interesting legal arguments, a little team work. I liked it.
There was a stronger-than-usual focus on Liv, but she is the star of the show, and this was a pilot of sorts, so I was expecting it. This premiere was about the new showrunner tweaking the format and the overall vibe of SVU for Season 19, so I didn't mind that he chose to focus on Olivia. I wish we had something other than Noah drama for her to do, but I suppose that's the easiest source of anguish for her, writing-wise, so the investigation storyline makes sense.
Squad Thoughts
We didn't get as much of the squad as I would have liked, and everyone's characterization was pretty thin, but again I attribute that to the new showrunner's attempt to set the story and use broad strokes to define the main players. I hope we'll see more character development later on in the season.
At this point, I felt he wanted to re-establish all the characters, so he chose to showcase (in a somewhat clumsy, overly expository way) everyone's main attributes.
Sonny - Italian, smartass funny, lawyer with morals Amanda - mother, weirdly attuned to perps, abrasive Fin - rule breaker, fashionable (lol), has negative fucks to give Barba - smart, sarcastic, supportive Liv - mother, leader, saint
I think there were better (and certainly more subtle) ways to convey all of those things, but again, if we treat this premiere as a pilot, I can see where the showrunner was coming from. He wanted to show us which parts of the old show he wanted to keep, and which parts he wanted to change.
We know he sees Sonny and Amanda as platonic buddies, so he gave us the classic S16 dynamic (Sonny getting on Amanda's nerves with his law stuff and her snapping). We know he wants to establish a bond between Amanda and Liv, so he gave us that lovely supportive moment between them. We know he sees Barba and Liv as close friends, so he gave us warm, shoulder-bopping Barba (awwww, btw) (also, Rafael, my guy, you’re friendzoning yourself at every turn). We know he wants to show a tortured Liv, so he gave us both the Noah moments and her chastising Fin as his boss, because (finally!) she's concerned about lawfulness.
Bottom line, I can see the effort to build new (and rebuild old) team dynamics, something sorely lacking in S18. So I'm willing to wait it out and see what else the writers want to do this year.
Sonny Thoughts
Again, the show focused on the few things we already knew about Sonny, and gave him a few (mostly clunky) lines to establish his personality. The writers went a little too hard with the "jokes" (that fridge thing especially, yikes), but they also gave him that solid line about revenge being a food group. I've always thought Sonny was at his strongest as the comic relief (not the butt of the joke, mind you. Just the character who brings some levity with his Munch-like, out-of-left-field observations.) so I'd be happy to see S19 returning to that.
Sonny and the Law
The show also remembered that Sonny is a lawyer. Sort of. They remembered he went to law school, at least, which is something. I do wish Amanda had been more specific, perhaps saying, "I know you think you’re a bigshot now that you passed the bar, Carisi, but STFU" but we can't have it all. Plus, the writers were smart enough to have him be the one to question Fin's actions. Sonny’s always had a strong moral compass, but he’s also been a stickler for the rules.
This was a textbook (a Constitutional Law textbook, in fact) case about the rights of the accused. Someone like Sonny (a former law student) would certainly enjoy arguing the merits of both sides of the argument, and he’d probably think nothing should undermine the rule of law, if only from a philosophical standpoint. Conversely, someone like Amanda (or Fin) would only think about the bottom line. So that conversation (and Amanda’s anoyance) worked for me.
Mostly, I appreciated the fact the writers remembered that Sonny cares about the law. I was reminded of the police brutality episode in S17, when Sonny was so adamant about getting a warrant, and Liv was less so.
I've made several posts about Sonny being a caught-in-the-middle type of character, having a cop's heart but a lawyer's mind, and I'm hoping this season might revisit that. Sonny is not just another generic cop. He has more nuanced opinions, and he articulates them. He speaks out, even when his views isolate him from the rest of the squad. That's what makes him stand out.
Which brings me to:
Barisi Thoughts/Hopes
I'm really looking forward to seeing Sonny's interactions with Barba this season. I'm curious to see how the new showrunner wants to play that angle. As I said, Sonny is not just another cop, but he's also not a prosecutor. Theoretically, he won't agree with Barba either. He's always been somewhere in the middle.
Sonny is the character who can complain about jurisdiction or a international law and get shit from the other cops, but he's also the character who can say something like "hindsight" to support his fellow cops when a lawyer like Barba just doesn't get it.
And yet, Barba gets what the other cops don’t. And we know he’s shown interest in Sonny’s potential legal career. I’d be happy to see them arguing about the specifics of each case, but I’d be even happier to see them forming a front against the rest of the squad, or discussing Sonny’s hesitation to leave the force even when he spends most of his time arguing the legalities of it all.
There's a lot to mine, when it comes to the Sonny/Barba dynamic. I hope the writers take advantage of the characters' history, their contrasting personalities, and their unique (to this group of people) shared perspective when it comes to the law.
Sonny may no longer need a mentor, but he could use a friendly ear.
Stray Thoughts
Sonny's ass.
Was that a CGI cab in the opening?
Fin's surprised/amused "I didn't even know it was legal!" was everything.
Liv's new/old hair is flawless.
Barba felt like a lawyer again. For the first time in a long while.
Is Brooke Shields with Child Protective Services?
The squad was following the guy but they didn't have anybody covering the exits? Nor did they have anybody with the victim who was about to testify (i.e. the victim whose death would kill the case)? Come on.
Are Cassidy and Munch working together now? And can we see that?
Will Chase was fantastic. One of the best acted perps in recent memory. And Amy Smart was great too. As was Peter Jacobson. Truly, solid dialogue makes all the difference. We had great guest stars last season, but they were mostly wasted. In this episode, they all had a chance to shine.
Legal arguments? Cases cited? Foreign governments intervening belatedly? A defense attorney who was extremely smart but not extremely evil? One who chose to use his legal knowledge instead of resorting to victim-blaming? What?
A Latina wife of a perp who did the right thing? A black victim with sympathetic characterization? A less than wealthy victim with sympathetic characterization? What??? What show is this? (seriously, it's so easy to be mindful of things like that)
Speaking of the victims, how about respecting their wishes not to testify? Wow. That said, Sonny did seem to get momentarily possessed by the spirit of S18!Benson, when he tried to say that they could subpoena the first victim. I'm just glad that he looked and sounded conflicted and regretful, even as he was trying to say it. That detail, the way Peter practically mumbled that line, like he had a hard time even saying that out loud, it made the moment count. You can look for justice, and you can sometimes be harsh in that pursuit, but our characters shouldn't lose their empathy.
Conclusion
After a whole year, I finally watched an episode of SVU without it feeling like a chore. Or without having to fast-forward through anything. This premiere was hardly groundbreaking, but it was a decent, competently written hour of television. At this point, in S19, that's the most we can ask for. I'm glad we seem to be getting it.

BtT Light Novel Club Extra Chapter: Infinite Dendrogram Anime Adaptation Thoughts
Tumblr media
Anime adaptations of an established work, whether light novel, manga, visual novel, video game, or whatever else, are a tricky business. The medium of anime is almost always vastly different from what they are adapting from, and what works well in the original medium might translate poorly to animation. The job is only made harder by the strict episode limits these adaptations are usually given; most are only allowed around 13 episodes to make their mark, having to hope against hope for a second season or more.
With that in mind, Jeskai Angel, TWWK, and I take a look at the currently-airing anime adaptation of Infinite Dendrogram, which we covered the first two volumes of and will be discussing the third volume on February 21st. This post will look specifically at how the first volume had been adapted, a.k.a. the first four episodes of the anime.
-----
Episode 1
Jeskai: Well, how about that Infinite Dendrogram episode 1? I am pleased. I felt like it was a solid opening that explained the world while holding back from excessive exposition. It introduced some major characters and especially established Ray’s compassionate, conscientious disposition that leads his constantly playing hero. And it managed to hint at the series’s broader questions about reality, personhood, and the nature of this so-called game. It seemed like a very faithful adaptation of the opening events of vol. 1, and I think the series has a lot of promise.
Frank (stardf29): Yeah, so far the anime adaptation is pretty good. Obviously, a lot of assorted world info was left out so this first episode could cover the content it needed to, but for the most part, nothing super-important was left out; the only thing that probably should have been explained was how Vengeance is Mine worked. Story-wise, as you mentioned, many of the story’s major points have already gotten some establishment, so things are good on that point. Visuals aren’t anything stand-out but they look fine, so I don’t have any complaints there. I will say, I was not quite expecting Shu or Nemesis to sound quite like they did, but I do like their voice acting. Shu is appropriately over-the-top, while Nemesis has that haughtiness to her, and while I wasn’t quite expecting their exact vocal styles, they definitely work. Alas, I guess having to sub this episode quickly means the subs don’t get the top-tier bear puns the light novel translation did, and we have to stick with “grizz”. Ah well.
Jeskai: Yeah, I was taken aback by Nemesis’s voice at first, but I think it will work out. I felt that Nemesis’s character as a whole got a little bit shortchanged (including but not limited to explaining Vengeance Is Mine) in this episode, but I assume there will be more chances to develop her in the future. And regarding the subtitles’ inadequate handling of the puns, I guess you’ll just have to…grin and bear it.
Twwk: You guys said it all kuma kuma. Very enjoyable and it captured much of the spirit of the light novel right from the start kuma kuma. The one drawback for me is the animation—not great, but good enough. My hope is that the series generates buzz and gets viewers, and that we’ll get future seasons with stronger animation.
Episode 2
Twwk: Just watched episode two of Infinite Dendrogram—was it hinted at that Ray’s brother is famous in the first light novel volume? I don’t remember that part.
Jeskai: Yeah, it was pretty indirect, but the hints were there. Shu accidentally making his avatar the same as his IRL appearance is mentioned to be a problem, and while the reason isn’t stated, the clear implication is that Shu is somehow famous / important / popular and would be recognized without his goofy animal costumes. Dendro episode 2 thoughts: a slower paced episode with a good bit of world-building and introductions to some more major characters. Good, but nothing amazing aside from Nemesis; she’s hilarious. Also why haven’t they explained Nemesis’s abilities yet? Ray used them more this ep. but it still hasn’t been stated (for the benefit of those who haven’t read the novel) how they work.
Frank: As for why Nemesis’s abilities haven’t been explained yet: there’s actually a series of short side “episodes” that explain various expositional stuff, and apparently the mechanics of Nemesis’s abilities were in one of those episodes. Unfortunately, as of this moment those episodes aren’t being officially translated… Ray did mention briefly the mechanics of Vengeance is Mine indirectly when he was about to face off against Figaro, but yeah, I do think it’d be better for these things to be explained better in the main anime.
Tumblr media
Remember when video games came with instruction manuals that explained important stuff?
Episode 3
Jeskai: We meet lots of new characters, some of whom won’t actually be important for quite some time, but whose future roles are foreshadowed here. Marie was great; she came off as a even more sketchy / suspicious to me than she did in the LN, but I’m not sure if that’s actually because of how the character was portrayed by the anime or simply because now I already know her secret.
Twwk: This episode was such an info dump…I think to it’s detriment. What works on paper doesn’t necessarily do the same on the screen, and I think this episode demonstrates that. It was messy and without flow. I don’t even know our party of four (if I’m a viewer without knowledge from the light novels), so I don’t want to get inundated by all this info and new characters. A lot of character development is just ahead…but gosh, if I didn’t know what was coming, I know that I’d have dropped this series by this point.
Frank: I definitely like how Marie is portrayed, too, and yeah, it probably is influenced by what I know about her now. That said, it’s unfortunate they never explained Babi’s G-rated “seduction”; that was one of the best jokes in the novel. Though I suppose that is one of the lesser concerns about this adaptation…
Episode 4
Jeskai: This series continues to be underwhelming and disappointing. The adaptation superficially captures the major story beats, but without any of what makes the LNs so great. It sacrifices character development to speed through a series of plot points. This episode in particular seemed way too…shounen-y. Like, Ray was saying and doing stuff that felt like a generic shounen protagonist, even though I never got that vibe from him when reading the books.
I discovered the Log Horizon anime was on Crunchyroll and watched it recently. It really forms an amazing contrast to Infinite Dendrogram’s anime adaptation. The premises are similar — a strangely realistic game world (Dendro) vs. a game world become real (LH), so there are a lot of game mechanics involved with how the world operates. In both, the “players” can’t permanently die. In both, the so-called “NPCs” are acting surprisingly human. In both, there are issues with PK-ing. In both, an early crisis involves needing to rescue children. Et cetera. It’s not like one is plagiarizing the other, but there are enough points of resemblance to make them easy to compare.
I loved Dendro from vol. 1 onwards; the light novels are fantastic. When I read the first LH volume, I reported feeling a bit ambivalent about it; it wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t interest me enough to order the next volume, either. I’m glad I checked out the LH anime adaptation, though, because it seems to me like one of those special cases where the anime surpasses the quality of the LN (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime springs to mind as another instance). Compared to both vol. 1 of the LH LN and to Dendro’s anime, the LH anime does a much better job of presenting humor, developing the characters in a way that I can care about them, and explaining the game mechanics the world runs on without totally derailing the plot for exposition dumps. Oh, and the visuals and music in the LH anime are superior to those in Dendro’s anime. It feels like Log Horizon is the anime adaptation that Dendro deserved to receive.
Frank: It seems to me that the Dendro anime is very much an “advertisement” anime: one made mainly to promote the sales of the original light novel, rather than for the art of the adaptation itself. The adaptation is definitely more focused on the action scenes and stuff designed to appeal to general anime viewers. So yeah, while it’s not the worst adaptation I’ve seen, it definitely feels lacking. This was particularly clear with the end of ep. 4, where they barely spent any time at all with the aftermath of the Gardranda battle and the dead tians, which I felt was a major part of the story in the novels. (They also completely glossed over the “job” Rook had to get Marilyn. What a travesty.) Also, from the title of the next episode, looks like ep. 5 will cover up to just past halfway of vol. 2. That’s… quite a lot of ground to cover, so yeah, definitely not expecting that episode to be anything.
Twwk: I made it through episode four, but that’s it. I’ve dropped the show.
Jeskai: Same here. Watched episode 5, but I’m just not enjoying this show. It’s an outright bad adaptation.
Frank: I’m still watching, because I apparently like to have something mediocre but familiar to watch every anime season. And if I want quality Dendro, I’ll just read the novels. Speaking of which…
=====
So the anime adaptation of Infinite Dendrogram might not have lived up to expectations, but thankfully the original light novels are still great. So meet back with us on the 21st as we dive into Volume 3!

Bride of the Water God
Episode 2
Part 2 : So A Hearing Voices/Habaek’s Powers
Tumblr media
@rocknghorss: So the voices thing. Initially, my theory was that she was hearing the voices of the water held in various objects- because Habaek’s a water god right? But then she heard the voice of the girl in the elevator and I had to throw that theory out. If she's supposed to Habaek's servant, why can she hear all these other thoughts and not just his? What's the purpose?
@dramajib: I wondered about that too - all the Habaek related things made sense, and the thirsty plant was okay too, but before I could figure out whether there had been other thirsty things around the previous times she'd thought she heard stuff (like at work, and home) that girl walked in. I'm tempted to say it's just shoddy writing, where they're giving her these thought-hearing-powers without really considering the whys and hows and nitty gritties of it, but I genuinely feel like the show pays a lot of attention to detail, so I'm hoping there's a reason behind it
rocknghorss: Right! So I'm hoping that they're going to develop that more b/c it's pretty neat and strangely intermittent.  Also! I've been wondering whether him smacking her in the forehead in episode 1 maybe transferred some of his powers to her?
Tumblr media
dramajib: Ohhhhh. Didn't think of that. Maybe that's saved him, because if the creepy monk dude had kissed him while he had his powers he would have lost them, but since he didn't have them at the time, he didn't? So eventually he'll be able to get them back. Like maybe that's the whole point of the scene in the first episode where she jumps into the water. Although that might just be an 'overcoming the trauma' thing.
rocknghorss: Lol
dramajib: SPEAKING OF WHICH I totally do not approve of this water trauma. I am so tired of characters having these quirky-so-unique-and-defining neuroses. I thought at first that for someone who's so bitter about individuals having to look after the less fortunate, she's picked a terrible career for herself, but I guess it sort of makes sense. Like she's got her own shit to deal with, which might make it easier for her to relate to patients and show them more empathy - plus she's naturally quite inclined to help others, as both our main and second leads have kindly pointed out
rocknghorss:  Lol. I can't say I disliked it for that reason, but yeah that trope(?) is all over the place in drama land. It's also a little too on the nose - like is this fear of water going to be the thing that "tragically" separates her from Habaek before they get together in the end?
dramajib: I'm going to leave that point for Kristin to respond to when she checks in :P
rocknghorss: lol ok. Also, the whiny nurse sorta said something similar in the first ep, along the lines of wherever she goes patients find her
dramajib: True. I do find it interesting how things always seem to happen around her. It feels to me like a really well written script about fate, rather than just dramaland prerogative of moving the story along. I have to say though (and I apologise in advance to Kristin because I know she's a big fan) this episode totally had some of those Shin Se Kyung overreactions that I'd been dreading. Not a lot, and I still like her character a lot more than I had expected to, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Like that last scene by the river - not buying her meltdown. Also the drumstick in his hand was EXTREMELY distracting.
Tumblr media
rocknghorss: What was up with the drumstick?  I couldn't tell if Habaek was hungry and trying to hide it or what. And I still don't believe him that he was saving it for Nam SooRi. Also, on a completely random note, I realized while watching yesterday that I've never finished a drama starring SSK. Which doesn't bode well...
dramajib: Yeah, I think because he doesn't get hungry, he genuinely didn't know that that's what it was - and he's still determined not to stoop to a lower level by acting human, so he's all "I will resist temptation, I'm only doing this for my minion"
rocknghorss: Huh. Ok. That makes sense
Tumblr media
dramajib: Although I do harbour suspicion that he genuinely is upset that his lack of powers is making Nam SooRi suffer. Maybe he doesn't realize it's because of compassion/guilt, and thinks it stems from a sense of duty, or thinking he failed. But either way I feel like there is hope for our main lead to not be a douche all the way through the drama.
rocknghorss: Yeah! Surprisingly I felt the same. :) It felt like he did actually care about SooRi being hungry today and their dramatic separation in the subway was cute.
Tumblr media
dramajib: So cute!! I really like the way he's been playing the roles that are typically portrayed by the lead female. Like the way he got all flustered during the kiss too
rocknghorss: Lol. That's a good point.
Next up: Bride of the Water God Episode 2 Part 3 : So A’s Past and Fate
