one thing that annoys me is people reading yangchen’s books and acting like she should be this bloodthirsty assassin.
the point of yangchen’s character isn’t that she revels in violence. it’s that she would forsake her cultural beliefs for the sake of the world if she saw it necessary. and she did.
and the air nomads punished her for it.
because they were still a living and thriving culture that could hold their own accountable.
while the rest of the world held her in high regard for her efforts, even in death, there were those from her culture that wouldn’t let her deeds go unpunished on the permanent record.
aang doesn’t have that.
he can do whatever he wants and the rest of the world wouldn’t care. no one will ever hold him accountable for his cultural missteps so he has to. that’s why it’s important to aang to hold himself to his beliefs. to keep his people and culture alive.
do you ever watch celebrities talk about being famous? how they know they have legions of fans that will praise them no matter what? and how terrifying that is to them? how important family is to them? because those are the people that keep them grounded. do you line what that feels like? to be inherently famous and have no one left in your family to keep you grounded? to be a human that’s only ever seen as a god?
no, you don’t. i don’t. but that is the life aang lives.
it’s why people who complain about the finale are annoying. it’s why people using yangchen to downplay his choice is also annoying. and it’s why people acting like yangchen had nothing to lose are extremely annoying. because her choices cost her a lot. and it hurt her. because she loved her people too.
Anyways so Eat Your Young itself I think is very trojan war core. And I know I've been vehemently against trying to fit the entire trojan war into a single show adaption but guess who thinks it'll work with a three minute song? ME, because I'm a hypocrite. it'll make no sense to anyone who doesn't know the story but that's okay it has cool shots and murder to the beat. "I wanna smell the dinner cooking. I wanna feel the edges start to burn." Cassandra looking up at Helen and knowing. The quiet part at the end is the actual fall of Troy. It'll probably be focused more on the Greek side. I reaaaaally want Achilles to sing "It's a kindness, highness." Iphegenia's sacrifice at "skinning your children for the war drum." That one vocalization part is just lots of murder I won't lie. Good for them. The second vocalization is more murder and also HORSE
All Things End I want to animate to Hector and Andromache specifically because I'm a wuss and they make me sad. I need him to kiss her belly when she's pregnant at "We begin again." I need him to slowly and somberly put on his armor at the second to the last chorus. I need him to fight Achilles to the death when the choir kicks in, alternating between his duel on the ground and his family's horrified reaction up on the walls. I need his eyes to slip shut when the final line echoes.
THROUGH ME THE FLOOD. THE ODYSSEY. FROTHS AT THE MOUTH. anyways I want to open on Ogygia. As you do. As you do. Need him to try to swim away and get washed back ashore. Need him to stand in his raft alone on the sea, small in the vast size of it to the line "I couldn't measure it." "Try measure loss, measure the silence of the house." PENELOPEEEEE. "With each grave, I think of loss and I could only think of you. I couldn't measure it." That. That scene. When she finally picks up his bow and weeps. "That the world, it burns through me." The arrow shot, the suitors' death. "That the world, it flows through me." Tree bed tree bed tree bed. Embrace. Kiss. Reunite again. Oh my god I'm going to explode
I’ve noticed that nobody really makes headcanons for Divina, so before season two comes out and possibly ruins all of my headcanons…here are my Divina ones!
Divina is extremely well kept, well mannered, and was even a bit snobby during freshman and sophomore year.
She was born into a very rich family, much like Yoko, who put a lot of pressure on her to maintain appearances. Not only that, they taught her success is more important than mental health or friends.
This kind of childhood did lead to her being very snobbish, though secretly she has always felt lonely because she didn’t like her friends.
Yoko and Divina met Sophmore year. Divina was a very stereotypical mean girl who was very extremely straight obviously and Yoko always flirted with her playfully. Divina was very closeted at the time but became closer to Yoko despite them not appearing to be friends at school or in public. Even Enid didn’t know how close they were, she practically hated Divina
Divina really likes fashion. She is very proud of her family name.
Yoko helped Divina learn that if her parent can’t accept her, they aren’t worth all the effort she puts into pleasing them.
Divina wants to become a fashion designer but her family isn’t on board with that idea, Yoko totally is
She designs suits for Yoko. Yoko loves it because shes an attention whore.
Divina and Enid eventually become friends after Enid finds out she’s dating Yoko. Enid makes an effort to get to know Divina because she trusts her best friend’s judgment.
They both love kpop. They both love gossip.
They love goth girls.
Divina and Enid make sure their girlfriends don’t murder anyone.
so so happy i get to ramble about my hyperfixations here !!!! aufhehhwhfjgjwhdhfjc MAY LOVE AND JOY SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE PHIGHTING COMMUNITY 🎉🎉🎉🎉 YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME
In the timeline where the universe in Lebanon allows John to stay, Dean’s first inner breakdown comes from finding John intruding into the bunker kitchen, expertly chopping carrots for a pot roast.
Dean can’t even put into words why he’s so upset.
He flees to the library.
Sam says, “He’s trying, Dean. We have to let him try.”
///
Dean stomachs the dinner.
But he can’t stomach the leftovers that John carefully wraps and stores in the bunker fridge.
///
So, that’s how Cas finds him, at 2 a.m., frantically scraping the containers of pot roast into the garbage.
