Dragonborn Conquest/Rebellion DLC concept

If it were up to me, there would've been a Dragonborn conquest DLC.

The premise would be that the Dragonborn is sick to death of this wretched Civil War. One side is subservient to the true enemy and the other side is full of racists. The Imperials have literal criminals as Jarls(Maven and Siddgeir) Stormcloaks have paranoid lunatics and the corrupt as Jarls. Both sides have good arguments, but both cannot be allowed to control Skyrim. So the Dovahkiin decides it's time for the people to open their eyes and take Skyrim back for the people. Nords, Imperials, Redguards, Elves, Argonians and the Khajit.

The Dragonborn's promises

The Khajit caravans get to gain entry in the cities of Skyrim instead of being forced on the outskirts

Restoring Talos worship

Argonians gain entry into Windhelm instead of being forced on the docks

The Dunmer will receive better housing than the Grey Quarter

All citizens of Skyrim will be treated equally under the new High King

Proper Jarls to rule and govern their holds and to maintain stability, peace and justice to their people instead of ruling out of greed or power

An end to the Civil War by any means necessary

An end to corrupt families like the Black Briars and Silver-Bloods

Rebuilding Winterhold

Giving The Reach back to the Forsworn

The execution of Ulfric Stormcloak and expulsion of General Tullius and the Legion.

The final promise. An end to the Thalmor Justiciar witch hunts and kidnappings and the forced removal of the Thalmor from Skyrim

So yeah, The Dragonborn should've been able to become High King of Skyrim and rule for the good of the people of Skyrim. Be able to handpick the Jarls for the good of the land and been able to side against the Stormcloaks, Imperials and Thalmor.

this is a phenomenon i'm all too familiar with. bein' a fan of Adventure Time, i've obviously seen the classic "Finn in a coma" art. but this is a unique twist on the edgy theory that i can get behind. i went down to the Search Bar to ask Google for the first sentence in the quote my client gave me, and they handed me the link instantly. i was about to grab it when the roof of the Search Bar was burned away, revealin' a massive dragon flyin' overhead. luckily, i had my trusty magnifyin' glass that turns into a magical sword! usin' my sword i flew up to the dragon to face him down. to my surprise, the dragon spoke...

"Drem yol lok, Dovahkiin. Hin pahlok fen kos hin vo."

"it is you who will be undone, beast! you slew my family all those years ago! prepare to be vanquished!"

"Grik kah fah aan joor. Dovahkiin, hi fen wake up."

the last two words the dragon spoke weren't in his tongue, but instead in English. to my shock, the dragon continued to speak, repeating the same phrase, in English, over and over again.

...you must wake up...

...wake up...

"Wake up!"

i shot awake. i was sittin' at the Search Bar in front of the Don. huh, was it... all a dream? i shook my head and grabbed the post he laid in front of me. i then went and filed it away...

What if your dovahkiin could still interact with the dragon souls that she absorbed? They’re not gone. They’re a part of her now.

i've seen this interpretation before! i think it's neat :)

my take on what happens to dragon souls "consumed" by a dragonborn is similar, sans the possibility of interaction. to get into (my interpretation of) nirnic eschatology a little, here are the three things that can happen to the mortal soul upon death:

ego death and dissolution (or return, if you prefer) of the soul into the joyous universal energy of creatia. "i am the thousand winds that blow / i am the diamond glints in snow," etc. this is what happens to most souls

transportation to a daedric or aedric "afterlife" plane. in this case the soul usually retains its memories and sense of self, but is subject to its divine overlord

subjection to benevolent or malevolent necromancy (for example, trapping an unwilling soul with a spell and binding it to its former body or to an enchanted object). deceased velothi, as another example, don't really "pass on" anywhere; their souls, bound and preserved by consensual necromantic magic, occupy a liminal space between death and life and can be roused from rest to counsel and protect the living family

dragons, on the other hand, are immortal spirits; if they're "killed," they lose corporeality and the ability to interact with the physical world, but are free to flit around as they please (selfhood and memories intact) until some other dragon or tongue uses the thu'um to resubstantiate them. the only way they can experience true death is to be absorbed by a dragonborn. for the dragon soul, this is an ego death and dissolution into another soul, rather than into the energy of creatia; the dragonborn experiences this meld of souls as a moment of enlightenment in which it's briefly possible to tap into the dragon soul's memories, emotions, and knowledge before that soul dissolves. after that moment passes, its soul-stuff becomes indistinguishable from the dragonborn's soul-stuff and it has no individual personality to speak of, apart from the bit of residual will and sentiment (not quite consciousness) that all souls possess even after they've become part of something greater

Alternative Altmer Dragonborn, quest idea

If the Dovahkiin is an Altmer, he is pursued by Thalmor Justicars and Soldiers to join the Thalmors. Elenwen and her embassy believe having a Dovahkiin Altmer on their side - one that inherited the Nordic legend's powers - could make him powerful and have more influence.

The Dovahkiin has the option to decline, but also the option to accept.

So now the Dovahkiin has unique dialogue(s) with all the other Thalmor Justicars and Soldiers, and could also gain access to Thalmor territories scattered across Skyrim.

So, finally speaking with Rulindil, Ondolemar (more thoroughly instead of the basics of what we got in Skyrim), Elenwen (more dialogue that gives more insight from her perspective), and Thalmor soldiers who drop random lines of dialogue like guards do, but they will be unique to the Thalmor factions and have new rumors and news about Summerset Isles and Alinor.

But the Dovahkiin may still get pelted with the usual "you're not a true Elf" insults at times by those who don't like the Dragonborn among their faction.

The Dovahkiin can also choose to kill Talos worshippers or let them go. Some Talos worshippers won't always be down to talk once they catch a glimpse of any Thalmor ally. But some will be.

Main Storyline

The Dovahkiin will be approached by an Imperial courier who hands them a letter from the Thalmor Embassy, asking them to come speak with Elenwen about recruitment. Again, the Dovahkiin can ignore this letter and not see Elenwen, or they can accept the quest and see her.

At the Embassy, Elenwen speaks with the Dovahkiin in her Solar, where the other Justiciars and Wizards are also attending for Her sake. She offers them a place in their faction, in exchange that the Dovahkiin must be loyal to the Thalmors and do as she says. She explains the goals of the Thalmor, and to choose wisely or to be a target of the Thalmor the moment they decline.

If Dovahkiin declines, Elenwen will allow Dovahkiin to leave unharmed, but she reminds them that this is the final offer.

If Dovahkiin accepts, they're set for their Thalmor life. Dovahkiin does have to work up the ranks, the same as any other faction Dovahkiin joins and works upward in. They can now leave and enter the Embassy without issues and they are to give Elenwen any information that the old Blades and researchers have on the dragons.

You can be given quests by other Justiciars that are stationed at the Embassy, but once the Dovahkiin has ranked higher and completed all the Emabssy quests, they can now move on to be tasked by other Justciars that are in the cities that are under Imperial jurisdiction and can be given locations of Thalmor camps. The Dovahkiin can still visit Stormcloak cities.

I think it would also be neat to have a quest of handing Delphine and Esbern over to the Thalmor, perhaps given the task by Rulindil.

Ondolemar only has tasks that pertain to Markarth and locations close to the city. He could give tasks to deal with the Silver-Blood family, kneecapping the Imperials from silver. Letting the Forsworn free only puts more pressure on the Nordic population in the Reach. Ondolemar won't ever snitch about you being part of Madanach's escape (and neither will the two soldiers that follow him around.) Instead, the blame for Madanach's escape will be placed on the Silver-Blood family for not killing him sooner.

If you join the Imperial army, Elenwen won't be pleased, but she won't throw you out of the faction either.

If you join the Stormcloaks, you are no longer part of the Embassy and will be an enemy to the Thalmor from that point on.

Despite the Thalmor questline, the Dovahkiin can still continue the main quest as usual, but now it may just exclude Delphine and Esbern, putting more steps for Dovahkiin to pick up the clues to find Sky Haven Temple themselves, piece the past together, and defeat Alduin on their own without the Blades.

Mages' College

As for the Mages' College where Dovahkiin meets Ancano, this may remain the same. Ancano appears to have a hunger for power and it's nearly corrupted the world, but if the Dovahkiin joins the Thalmors, they can possibly save Ancano from the corruption - however, Ancano can't come back to Winterhold ever again. He may remain at a Thalmor camp, too ashamed of his behavior to return to Elenwen.

Whenever I see Cub calling Yang Dagon, I keep hearing it wrong in my head. I always hear it like Day-Gone rather than Dah-Gon. The former is the big bad in ES: Oblivion, Mehrunes Dagon, whilst the latter would be dragon with simply the r missing.

Anyway, this led to me imagining Yang being a giant, four-armed deadric Prince of Oblivion, make of that what you want.

Oh, you are just a beautiful being for bringing that up!

Yeah, my brain does that too, and I was wondering why. I should have known my Skyrim obsession would come back to haunt me one of these days. It's ES crossover time!

so like- i'm just havin skyrim vids up in the background these past days cuz my nostalgia keeps dragging me back like every half a year or so, and like

imagine a Skyrim ESAU crossover

like my brain can't stop thinking of the reader being the dragonborn, and their champions find them when they absorb their first dragon soul- like- I'M HAVIN FUCKIN FLASHBACKS RN OF HOW I WENT AROUND SKYRIM WITH A BUNCH OF FOLLOWERS AND IT STRAIGHT UP FELT LIKE A RANDOM FAMILY WHERE HALF WERE PRACTICALLY TRYNA PUSH EACH OTHER OFF CLIFFS AND IT WAS GREAT dhfndhgdnghdfnghdfg

wukong and macaque would most definitely be from the tang mo (technically not present in normal skyrim- but like- apparently they do exist somewhere in the lore- so might as well think they both moved to skyrim-)

while mk would be more like half tang mo and half breton, or another human race. it'd be a fun time going through caves with giant spiders with him fhgnfhgnhfg

azure would probably be a of khajiit cuz you can kinda make khajiits look like lions- but like make him- yknow- a taller and more buff khajiit ig-

ao lie would probably be considered half argonian, but would actually be an ancient dragon disguised as half argonian- very much ironic when his master is the dovahkiin- also, free horse for your travels ig- easier access to going up 90° walls fhgnfhgfg

nezha would either be lookin like one of the human races OR an elven race cuz of the ears and special perks- cuz like, dunmer for example actually do have fire resistance and surround themselves in flames- though he ain't rly lookin like a dunmer ig? maybe more bosmer direction? but like he'd basically be one of the gods in disguise- maaaybe a daedric prince, but would be funnier to have one divine companion and one daedric companion lmao-

much like nezha, i was thinking red son would also be havin more of a dunmer perk, maybe havin somethin similar to a flame atronach body out of his disguise- but he'd most definitely be a daedric prince tho

mink would absolutely be like a random npc curse bound to some scroll the dragonborn finds in some tomb or somethin- imagine him being like that one random ass npc that pops up when you first take an item/the scroll

also what i mean by i've basically had to deal with this type of group before and it was hilariously amazing and i'm so gonna do it again next time i play skyrim again-

though, sadly didn't have the alduin mod that playthrough, so instead i had dave-

Yagarz, the Dovahkiin. (They/them)

A stronghold soft orc that refused to be chained to a life of duty, tried to scape to Skyrim so they wouldn't have to serve as a chief-wife as it's tradition among dragontail mountain (and Skyrim) orcs.

(Not everyone in the tribe hated/picked on them or were as hostile as the chief but Yagarz was born quite scrawny for an orc and was looked down on, they didn't have patience for em, specially with their 'weird shenanigans' and dangerous ideas on how they shouldnt have to adhere to harmful traditions. Only the shaman tribe was truly understanding)

They're curious, kind, determined and a bit insecure. Struggled with a crisis of faith when they discovered Malacath isn't like they hoped they would be.

Learned that some traditions and culture are worth keeping even if some stuff should truly change or be scrapped.

They also found a safe place with Aela.

The Skyrim story takes years in my headcanons so there's a lot of character growth and development.

At the end of it all, after Alduin, they made a house in the region of Falkreath with Aela and they have this kind of story of 'foreigner takes years but wins the hearts of the gruffy grumpy nords, they learn to like and respect each other and now belongs there with them'. A bit like found family but make it a town lmfao.

They're also a pretty darn good smith and loves to go creative with their job so might gift you a tankard with a neat dragon shaped handle or stuff like that. XD

Happy WIP *checks watch* F R I D A Y

Well I eventually got to it and I have something to share! Thanks to @thequeenofthewinterand @dirty-bosmer for tagging me this week! Sorry it's a bit late haha

This is a bit more of my prep for TES Summer Fest, August 11th Prompt "Sword", set in the aftermath of the Battle of Whiterun where my Dragonborn Theodora will work through her complicated feelings on the Empire, destiny and Tiber Septim the man.

The Battle of Whiterun had been an Imperial Victory. A definitive moment in the Skyrim Civil War. At least that’s what she would report to General Tullius. But looking around at the damage, the destroyed buildings, the broken down defense lines, the bodies. Divines the bodies. Theodora found it hard to believe that anything about what had happened was a victory.

She had stayed back to help the others sort through the bodies, identifying anyone they could in order to give the families closure. It was hard to see so many die for such a worthless cause. It was a worthless cause Imperials versus Stormcloaks, Empire versus Thalmor, it was all worthless. Glancing around at what remained of the living, the soldiers crying out over the bodies of their friends, she felt a pit in her stomach.

The Greybeards had said Alduin’s return marked the end of the world, and more importantly she should let it happen. Although determined not to let that happen, even if it meant defying the Greybeards, Theodora did find herself tempted to let it all burn. Between the senseless Civil War in Skyrim and General Tullius’s comments indicating a war with the Thalmor was peering down at them; letting the world end did feel tempting.

Walking through the Wind District, happy to see the Glidergreen survived, she stops at the Statue of Talos. Growing up her family were not particularly faithful divines so would she never quite understood the outrage from the Nords after the Great War. However, upon finding out she was also Dovahkiin, Theodora began to look at him differently. Tiber Septim had been a man, not unlike herself, and depending on which origin story you believe, he was also a stranger in a strange land. He had been great. But in seeking greatness he never achieved goodness. What do I want? Seek Greatness? But oh to be happy she thought wistfully. Closing her eyes she imagines another life. In Anvil, her father is about to retire from the Legion, her mother teaches her the dances of those before her, they are happy. Perhaps she is married, with children, they are neither rich nor poor for they have each other. A life that feels unbelievable.

"Lost in thought are you? I did not take you for the religious type." Jarl Balgruuf emerges behind her, no doubt returning after taking care of his people.

"Desperate times will have you seeking comfort from anyone, no offence my Jarl."

"None taken my Thane." He clears his throat for a moment, "how are you holding up?"

He’s a Khajiit from far-off lands, traveling to Skyrim to shake off his past. Finnki helps J'Med with recovery and fitting into Skyrim. J'Med teaches Finnki about moving on and leaving one’s past.
