HELLO. i have hundreds, HUNDREDS of hermitcraft fanfiction bookmarked and living in my brain without rent. Breaking this up into categories for some of my PERSONAL favorite fics in the fandom- including categories for shipping, crossover, and worldbuilding.

Some of these fics are from 2019 but generally speaking you don't need knowledge of past seasons you should be able to pick up on just about all of them. a lot of these are mostly included BECAUSE they're older and therefore, harder to accidentally stumble upon. put in no particular order.

TommyInnit had died. Again. To Dream. Again. And it sucked exactly as much as he thought it would because he'd wanted to move on and have a chance to actually live this time. Seems he won't be getting that.

Then he gets pulled out of Limbo, but he doesn't wake up back in the cell with Dream or next to his bed on the server. He doesn't wake up on the Dream SMP at all.

Little does he know that this is the least of his worries.

i want to scream and cry and hypervenilate thinking about this fic series. literally cannot recommend it enough. your life will be ROCKED. THE WRITING IS SOOOOO OGOOOD . i just want to shake. i cannot put into words what this fic makes me feel.

Shells in the Foam (a Hermit!Tommy fanfic) - Cedarwhisp21

When Dream attacks Tommy in Logestshire, Tommy runs. Badly injured, he somehow manages to slip between worlds and wakes up in a badlands biome, on a server far from home, with no other players in sight.

The Hermits are surprised when a new player logs in, and confused when no-one's at spawn. Five days later, after waiting for the new player to introduce themselves, Xisuma uses his admin abilities to access their coordinates. He takes Impulse with him to welcome the new player to Hermitcraft, but instead of the beginnings of a base, they find something a lot more concerning.

RWBY Saints of Remnant Notes: Arthur Gray(Watts); Mad Scientist, Unethical Businessman, and Conniving Rat

Part of The Emperor-Verse

Now this follows up my AU Jacques Schnee and SDC and my AU Adam Taurus, which focuses on their common foe, Dr. Arthur Gray aka Arthur Watts.

I honestly loved Arthur regardless of my gripes with the FNDM's appraisal of him, his design, personality, his color palette, and weapons(neat pistol and rings) hit all the right notes for me and I do feel he along the rest of WTCH didn't really meet their full potential from what I've seen, Cinder and Hazel I have more unorthodox ideas for.

But for Arthur? I feel like the 'Mad Scientist' thing wasn't explored enough, and back when this was a V3 reboot, I had Arthur manipulating Jacques into hating the Faunus(framing the White Fang for his wife's death) but now with the hard reboot and remember Arthur's motivation in canon got my noggin jogging

What if instead of the SDC being the corrupt big business, Arthur had his own mega corporation that was part of the corrupt North instead, and part of something even more sinister?

Thus, I came up with his AU Counterpart, Dr. Arthur Gray, genius roboticist, biologist, and CEO of GigaWatts Incorporated and The Grand Master of the Northern Rite of the mysterious Freemason-Like fraternal organization The Lumen Society ran by Grand Mistress, Professor Salem.

Basically, GWI has taken over most of Atlas in the sense of supplying companies with tech, their own high tech products ranging from domestic, law enforcement, security, and even medicine.

Even Atlas Council and top brass of Atlas military are hiring Arthur to develop their military tech. Despite James Ironwood's protests and continuous vouching for Dr. Polendina instead, who he is supporting in his own department.

Not to mention, the factories are known for unethical labor practices towards faunus, which gives Arthur brownie points for the anti-faunus sentiment in the North, along with countless of corporate CEOs vying to make deals with him and his seemingly wondrous technology.

And with the link to my AU Jacques Schnee link, this corporate machine is crushing smaller companies, SDC among them, under its grey steel boot

Basically, GigaWatts Incorporated is like OCP from Robocop

And even then that itself is nothing for the more unholy role it has for The Lumen Society, or its true name...

The satanic cult known as The Brotherhood Grimm. Whom Arthur's role is developing technology and occult research as they plot to resurrect The Black Empire that nearly destroyed the world in Ragnarok thousands of years ago with Salem as its Black Empress

But we'll get to that later

Arthur is currently tasked to recover an ancient ritual to “transcend” humans and Faunus into “The Grimmborne” or as Arthur calls “The Objective Man”(a reference to CS Lewis's That Hideous Strength)

And with Cinder infiltrating Beacon Academy as a teacher, Arthur finds a team he believe are suitable for experimentation. Though there is complications I will get to later.

He's the same as his Canon!Counterpart in many ways, snobbish, arrogant, passive aggressive(which I intend to show in the pissing contests he gets in with Jacques) but among some things, some which I will leave out for another post, he represents hyper-rationality, pragmatism and luciferian mind and the modern obsession to rationalize everything and destroy anything that can't.

You see, Dr. Gray hates personal and subjective feelings and certain emotions and the concept of the supernatural. He sees them as icky and disgusting things that sully intelligent and rational minds and their judgement of intelligence and "worthiness" instead of basing such things such as statistics, logistics, scientific method and what else he deems to be "real information", and he absolutely despises the concept of The Stoyteller and The Author Allfather as "Ancient Superstition" and he honestly hates both humans and faunus saying "both are subjective animals" which the Grimmborne aka "The Objective Man" shall replace.

He basically uses anti-faunus sentiment in the North to "keep the monkeys fighting each other" while he uses his tech and company as a means to get The Brotherhood's tentacles in The North

And when it comes to Jacques Schnee. There's very bitter history between the two, and Arthur may had some involvement with Mrs. Schnee's death. But Jack has no evidence. And even if he did, the majority councilmen and upper-class North are so corrupt Arthur is pretty much untouchable.

Now his allusion, he has two which is why I changed his last name.

His primary allusion is James Moriarty from the Sherlock Holmes novels, but his secondary allusion is The Rat King from The Nutcracker and rat, mousetraps, and mazes are recurring theme with him and his aesthetic along some steampunk. Cuz rats have grey fur and grey is Arthur’s primary color.

It’s also to note he is something of a connoisseur of wine and cheese.

But combining James Moriarty and The Rat King, Arthur also alludes Professor Ratigan of the children's novels The Great Mouse Detective which was also adapted into a Disney Movie(and one of my favorites), and like him, he hates being called a rat among other things, but I'll save that for the story.

Now for his semblance, I call it "electrified malice" which he can channel his repressed disgust, resentment, rage, hate, distain, and while lotta suppressed emotions into lethal green electric energy which he can direct either everywhere from his body like a live wire or from his hands ala Sith Lightning(I mean he is like Palpatine in a way)

The problem is, once he focuses in either spot and his emotions are intense enough, he becomes drunk with his malice which in turn takes him a while to stop, which will cost him dearly in the long run.

modern au, witch!elide + carpenter!lorcan + domestic/romantic fluff, word count: 3515

Coming home from work, Lorcan had gotten used to finding his fiancée with her nose buried in some centuries-old looking leather-bound book, or brewing something in her fully functional iron cauldron. It didn’t phase him anymore, not even when she would look at him through plumes of herbal scented steam with frizzy hair looking like a mad scientist.

So tonight, when he returned to find she’d taken over their kitchen with piles and piles of fresh plants, he merely gave her a pleasant grin. Elide gave him a distracted hello as she bound together a bunch of rosemary with twine. “Hi, love. How are you?”

“I’m fine. Work was,” he grimaced as he put down his very heavy bag of carpentry tools, “ok.” He tried to stretch the strain out of his shoulder.

Elide frowned a bit, noticing the tension in his arm. “What happened?”

Lorcan shrugged, “Did something weird to my shoulder. I’ll be fine.”

She gave him an exasperated look – Elide never thought he took injuries seriously enough. She wasn’t exactly wrong. “Lor…” she sighed, shaking her head.

He grinned as he circled the kitchen island to hug her from behind. “What,” Lorcan asked, nosing her errant hair out of the way. He laid a little peck against her neck.

“You should go soak it.” She moved towards her pantry – Lorcan had built her a walk-in pantry for all her witchcraft supplies as a housewarming present – and he went with her, refusing to let go. Elide opened the door, a wave of something medicinal hitting them square in the face. She passed him a thing of tightly wound sage and lavender. “Here, put this in water. It’ll help.”

Lorcan leaned around, kissing her cheek as he took the bundle from her. “Whatever you say, sweetheart.” He left her to her affairs and headed off to their bathroom. Several large bundles of plants and shoots hung from every available space around their quaint bungalow. Lorcan had to duck his head many times to avoid getting slapped in the face with some drying aromatic.

Three large bunches of eucalyptus hung from the bathroom door frame. He shook his head fondly and gently moved one aside so he could step in. Just as he was about to close the door behind him, Elide came running down the hall. “No, don’t close it, please,” she cried, skidding to a stop.

He looked back at her with a brow raised.

“Please,” Elide pleaded, one hand grabbing the back of his jeans. “They need to hang undisturbed, and I’m running out of space.” She made her eyes big, going as far as to pout her lower lip. He hated that lower lip and everything it did to him. More accurately, he loved that lower lip and her pout and everything it did to him. “Since you’re just having a bath, will you please not move them?”

After putting the bundle for his bath aside, Lorcan turned to fully face her, crossing his thick arms over his chest. Elide’s hands migrated to his stomach, her pinky slipping past the waistband of his jeans and boxers to stroke his bare skin. It was a dirty move, and he narrowed his eyes at her. “What if I have to use the toilet? I don’t want to… go,” he gestured, “with the door wide open.”

She rose on her toes to kiss the underside of his jaw. “Nothing I haven’t seen before.” Elide gave him another peck, “I’ll make it worth your while…”

He caved, not because of her implied promise of sexual reimbursement, but because Elide Lochan had some power over him he could not explain. Gods, he couldn’t wait for her to be his wife. “Ok, sweetheart. Whatever you want.” Lorcan put his hands on her waist to pull her flush against him. He dipped his head, capturing her lips in a slow embrace.

She hummed gently, her own hands moving to cup his face. “Thank you, baby,” she mumbled. Elide pulled back a little, searching his eyes, “It’s just for a little while, I promise.” She kissed him, "Ok?"

He kissed her back, now wrapping his arms around her waist. “Mm-hmm.”

Lorcan groaned softly when Elide slid her hands to his chest and pushed him back. “You need to soak.”

“Yeah, yeah,” he said, reluctantly letting her go.

Elide twisted away and strolled back to the kitchen, her hips swishing side to side. Lorcan drank in the sight of her before heeding her advice to soak. The job he’d been working on was a big one. Once he finished, he’d earn a huge amount – some would help with the wedding, though what they had planned was essentially an elopement, and the rest would go in their savings. Still, building a custom house from the ground up was no simple or quick task. It was gruelling work, and he was beginning to feel its strain on his body.

Lorcan drew himself a bath, tossing in the dried sage and lavender. Once there was enough water, he didn’t waste anymore time. He pulled his hair out of the hip-length braid it had been in all day to twist it into a mass on top of his head.

As he lowered himself into the bath, a satisfied groan escaped him. He rested his head on the lip of the tub and sank deeply into the nearly scalding water.

For the next while, Lorcan sat unmoving, listening to the sounds of his fiancée – he loved calling her that – moving around their kitchen.

He was almost asleep when Elide walked in.

“Hiya, honey,” she sang. She pulled the small teakwood stool to the bath and perched herself next to him. Elide lovingly brushed her hand over his brow. "I brought you some water so you don't overheat." She knew just how hot he liked his baths.

He hummed, gently rousing to slit his eyes open.

She giggled, “Feeling good?” She held the glass of iced water closer, angling the straw towards his mouth.

He took a grateful sip. Lorcan nodded slowly. “Yeah… this is nice,” he murmured. “What’s, um,” he gestured towards the ceiling and the doorway, “what’s all this?”

“Oh,” Elide sighed shortly. “I’m such an idiot, I’ve been running low on almost everything, so now I have to get it all done in one go.” She laughed a bit, “It really would be easier if I had a real thing to hang everything from like a rack, but from the ceiling.” With a shrug, she changed the subject and offered him more water. “There’s dinner when you want it. I made xarista and xaimoko.” Both were Blackbeak traditional food: fried cornbread and a thick, spiced rabbit stew.

He smiled, “You’re my dream girl. What’d I do to get you?”

Elide fondly rolled her eyes. “Something real special I bet.”

Soon enough, Lorcan’s fingers became pruny, and he had to get out. Elide said she’d leave him to dry off and get dressed, but if she got distracted by his lips and wandering hands, that was her business alone. He sent her off with a little slap on her ass.

While he got dressed in their bedroom, a thought nagged at him. For her practice, Elide needed to dry various plants all the time, and she always had to rig some precarious set-up. He couldn’t count how many times he’d saved her from crashing to the floor while she attempted to string something up high.

Lorcan joined Elide in the kitchen and nudged her towards the dining nook as she got down bowls and plates. He served them both some of the stew and a piece of cornbread, then carried it over to her.

He always ate like he didn’t know where his next meal was coming from, but who could blame him when it came to Elide’s cooking? She was a master in the kitchen.

He saved the very last bit of his stew and fried cornbread. Lorcan neatly scooped it all into bite and presented it to Elide. Though she had her own, Elide still accepted his offering. Her fiancé wasn’t one for words but actions. The connection found through food was something he especially valued. “Thank you, baby.”

In response, he gave her a small smile that he always reserved for her.

Elide finished the rest of her meal and gave him the last bit of hers. Lorcan accepted the bite, then pulled her close for a kiss. “That was amazing, sweetheart.”

“Mmm, thank you. I figured you’d want something hot and filling after your day.” She stood up, making to gather their dishes, but her fiancé stopped her.

“Let me. You made dinner, it’s only fair.”

“And you’re injured, you should take it easy.”

“Lee, I’m pretty sure washing and drying a few dishes won’t harm me.”

She squeezed by him, grabbing the dishes from his hands. “You don’t know for sure…”

Lorcan followed her, “Lee—“

Elide abruptly pivoted back, “You know, many hands make light work.”

“Yeah?”

“So,” she grinned wickedly, “the faster this is done, the faster we can, um, go to bed.” She gave him a pointed look.

A slow grin spread across his face. “I didn’t think about it like that, you know.”

Elide and Lorcan never knew that a kitchen could be cleaned so quickly.

The next day, Lorcan didn’t have to go to the house, and Elide had a double shift at the restaurant. He got up early to drive her into work.

Elide leaned over the console to kiss him. “Thank you for the ride,” she said. “I won’t be home till late, ok?”

He grinned, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll survive,” Lorcan joked. “D’you want me to pick you up after?”

“Love, you don’t have—“

“Yes, I do. I’d rather stay up late than you take the bus home, or spend a bullshit amount on an Uber.”

She pressed her lips to the corner of his mouth. “Ok, baby. I’ll see you later, then.” Elide pulled away, “I love you.”

“I love you too,” he told her. As she got out of the truck, he said, “Have a good shift, sweetheart.”

Elide waved at him while he pulled onto the street.

Instead of going straight home to get another few hours of sleep, Lorcan drove to the nearest lumber yard. He had been thinking about a way to solve Elide’s plant-drying issue and figured he could finish it within a day. All that was needed was a lattice horizontally hung from a handful of hooks from the ceiling. He’d make it fit just right in her pantry. It was the perfect environment, dark and dry.

Lorcan picked out a few pieces of ironwood at the yard. He loaded it into his truck bed and got home quickly, eager to start on Elide’s gift.

Exactly like he’d expected, it was an easy project. Lorcan took very careful measurements of the pantry ceiling. He cut every piece he needed, nailed and glued them together for good measure, then sanded everything by hand. Lorcan had a small pot of quick-drying wood oil that he rubbed on the lattice with an old rag.

The trickiest part was covering everything in her pantry with plastic sheets so no dust would disturb her supplies as he drilled small hooks into the ceiling.

After hanging it up, Lorcan tidied up, putting all his supplies back in the backyard workshed. Then, looking around their home, he figured Elide would appreciate it if he took the time to transfer some of her wound bundles. Lorcan had attached hooks along every piece of wood and simply hung the drying plants by the twine.

Once he was done, there was still plenty of room, considering the lattice ran end-to-end of her pantry. Lorcan took a picture of it, but he didn’t send it to his fiancée; he wanted her to be surprised.

For the rest of the day, Lorcan finished some odd jobs like fixing the squeaking hinges on their bedroom closet.

He pored over the drafts of the house he was building, making minor changes and scrawling notes on the side. The house owners had recently sent him a list of materials they wanted for the floors, so he wrote down in his notebook which warehouses he’d visit soon. All in all, the project was well under its generous budget, and Lorcan knew the owners would be pleased.

He could hardly wait to bring Elide home and show her what he’d built for her.

Her feet ached. Her back ached. Even her cheeks ached – Elide hated that she always had to have a bright, shining grin for the customers. As far as she was concerned, as long as the customers were being served and she was minding her manners, they didn’t need to see her façade of constant joy.

It made her feel deranged. Nobody was that happy while pulling a double.

Elide yanked off her apron and shoved it in her bag, having finished her cash-out and collecting her tips from the pool. She didn’t typically mind tip-pooling unless she was working with Remelle. The woman hardly did any work and preferred obnoxiously flirting with the bartender, even though everyone knew Rowan was unavailable. Elide had spent both of her breaks complaining on the phone to Aelin, the bartender’s very serious girlfriend and her best friend, who just laughed and arranged to drop-in later.

The look of disgust on Remelle’s face when Aelin had arrived to lean over the bar and plant a territorial, bright red lip-stick print on Rowan’s cheek had made it all worth it. The coffee Aelin had brought for Elide from her café was just icing on the cake.

Elide said good-bye to the back of house staff as she walked out through the kitchen, wishing them a good night. She pushed open the creaking metal door, finally able to breathe in fresh, crisp air. She sighed into the night, dark eyes quickly spotting a familiar pickup truck and an even more familiar man leaned against it.

Lorcan lifted one hand.

She smiled widely and quickly made her way down the back steps. Elide ran towards him. Once she was close enough, she launched herself in the air without warning, knowing that he would catch her.

Sure enough, she landed in his arms.

“Hiya, handsome,” Elide said, twining her arms around his neck.

Lorcan slowly lowered her to the ground, his hands on her hips. “Hiya, beautiful.” He bent his head, kissing her cheek. “How are ya?”

“Exhausted,” she told him. “It was just one thing after another.”

He frowned a bit, “That bad, huh?”

Elide nodded. “Uh-huh. Remelle was in full-force today.” He rolled his eyes, having heard about her coworker from both Elide, Rowan, and Aelin. He had his own less-than-pleasant encounters with Remelle, too. “Aelin stopping by was the highlight of my day.”

Lorcan grinned, “I’d pay good money to see that.”

Laughing, Elide said, “I’ll see if I can get Malakai to let me see the security footage. You should’ve seen her face, I thought she was going to pop a vein."

They moved to get into the truck. Lorcan insisted on walking around the other side to open Elide’s door for her. After she climbed up with some help from him, she kissed him. “I missed you,” Elide murmured.

“I missed you too.”

If any of their friends witnessed such a sickening display of their infatuation and utter adoration, Elide and Lorcan would never hear the end of it, but they really wouldn’t mind. What was the point of being in love if one was embarrassed of it?

Lorcan got behind the wheel and smoothly pulled out of the alley. The drive home was short, in part because they lived nearby and also because hardly anyone was on the roads.

When they parked in their small driveway, Lorcan stopped Elide before she could get out.

“I want you to do something for me,” he said while holding up a folded bandana.

She looked at it, then back at her fiancé with a conflicted expression. “Babe, I’m not in the mood for blindfolds tonight," she said sadly, wishing that she had the energy.

“No, no, it’s not that,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Get your mind out of the gutter, sweetheart. I promise it’s nothing about sex.” Lorcan gave her an imploring. “Will you trust me?”

Elide nodded. She always trusted Lorcan, and she wanted to know what he was up to. Maybe he’d dealt with their squeaky closet door – she'd fall in love with him all over again if he had. “Sure.” She turned around so he could tie the bandana over her eyes.

“No peeking, ok?”

She laughed, lifting a hand to touch the material covering her vision. “I can’t see anything. You’re going to have to help me walk, you know.”

“I know, just sit pretty for a moment. I’ll be right there.”

Elide heard him open the door, then felt the cab shake when he pushed it shut. Her heart hammered with anticipation as she waited. Barely any time had passed until he was opening her door and taking her hands. “Ok, let me help you down.” Lorcan gently took her waist and lifted her out of the seat. He set her on the ground, then locked the truck.

He guided her up the river rock stepping-stone pathway and told her when to walk up the short front steps. Elide held on tightly to the hand he kept on her waist. She trusted him, but she had two-left feet even when she could see freely. Lorcan reached beyond her, his chest bumping her head, to open the front door.

“Alright, just step inside, Elide. Watch the transition strip.”

Elide carefully stepped inside. She felt along the wall for the entryway bench. Once she found it, she sat with caution to take off her shoes. Elide heard Lorcan toeing off his boots, and then he took her hand, pulling her to her feet.

She laughed softly, “What did you do?”

“You’ll see in a sec, be patient,” Lorcan said.

Elide grumbled beneath her breath as he led her down the hall. Through spatial memory, she knew they were in the kitchen now, nearing her pantry. “Lor…”

He adjusted her position, “Ok, stay right…here. Don’t move, and no peeking, Lochan.”

She huffed but did as he told her. She just wished he would hurry up.

Lorcan shuffled around and opened the pantry door. He returned to standing behind her. “Are you ready?”

“Yes, please,” Elide laughed.

He gently pulled the blindfold away, waiting with bated breath.

Elide blinked a couple times as she got used to the light. She looked into her pantry, not seeing anything changed until she noticed how everything she’d needed to dry was hanging from the ceiling. At the realisation, she gasped loudly, stepping in to inspect it closer. “Lorcan,” she said, mouth agape. He’d constructed a wooden grid with small hooks to hang and dry her herbs. Elide whirled around, seeing how he’d cleared her bundles from every available space and put them up, each kind of bunch relegated to its own section. “You made this for me? And you organised it how I like it?"

He stepped closer too, lifting a hand to touch one of the wood pieces. “If it’s not working, I’ll change it. I used a quick drying oil, too, just ‘cause I wanted to get it up quick, but I can fix—”

She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down, stopping his uncertainty with a hard kiss. Elide poured all her love into it, wanting him to feel it. “It’s perfect. You’re perfect,” she whispered.

Lorcan chuckled, “I’m not—”

“Shut up, yes, you are.” She pressed a series of soft pecks against his full lips, then marked them over his cheeks and nose – everywhere she could reach. “You're perfect. I love it, baby. I love you.”

“I love you,” he told her. “I’m glad you like it.”

“Uh, I love it,” Elide corrected him.

He smiled, his hooded eyes crinkling, “I’m glad you love it, then.” Laughter bubbled up as she remembered that before the reveal, she’d been excited just thinking that he’d fixed the hinges of their closet door. Lorcan’s brows drew together in confusion. “What’re you laughing at?” When she told him, a big grin appeared on his face. “I guess it’s your lucky day, ‘cause I fixed that too.”

Her mouth dropped open. “Shut up, you did not.”

“Indeed I did. All it took was a little oil, tightening some hinges…” he shrugged, “good as new.”

Elide hugged him, unable to quell her smile. “I’m the luckiest person in the world to have you.”

Lorcan rubbed her back, “You can’t be the luckiest person in the world, ‘cause I am. I mean, I’m great and all,” he joked, “but I’m no you.”

She rolled her eyes. “I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree.”

“Agreed.”

I keep laying down pieces of my soul at your headstone, hoping to hear your voice: 700 words | Flash fic about grief. Hold Close: 800 words | Hurt/comfort where Izuku comforts Shouto. Cold Comfort: 1k words | Hurt/comfort where Shouto comforts Izuku. Even bad days aren't so bad with you beside me.: 1.2k words | Domestic fic where the two discuss problems like adults.

Enji: 2k words | The couple prepare for their first child, and Shouto has concerns about whether or not he can be a good parent. Summer Doesn't Last Forever: 2.8k words | Shouto and Izuku are on vacation, but the ghosts of the past make enjoying the present difficult. ONE. do the others know about stevie's new pet (? is that what we call her idk imma go w this bc it makes the most sense in my brain unless you have a better title)? like is tony aware theres this precious girl hiding out in steves rooms? do bucky and same know about her i must know. TWO if they do know about her how do they react? how does reader react to them knowing about her?

eeee thank you for all the questions 🥺🥺 i’ll try to answer these as best i can, it got kind of sociological and political honestly 🥲 i wish i could loosen up for ridiculous fanfic

a note ig, idk if i want to call her “pet”, both in and out of the AU. that does largely bring up the idea of owners and i don’t know if thats somewhere i want to go since the concept of being "owned" could be jarring for some readers. “companion” may be a better term and it’s even preferred in universe. “pet” would be an outdated term for a hybrid who exists as a live-in partner/entertainment (but technically they are kinda… pets)

ONTO UR QUESTIONS under a cut bc it's too long

they will eventually find out. unless no one ever visits steve’s quarters or notices how he orders extra extra food and spends more time in his room alone. I mean, bucky at the very least would be suspicious lolol sam would also get dragged along into investigating. they might even help steve keep his secret but she’d eventually get bored and sneak out. might go crawling around in the vents and end up bumping into clint who’s just 👀

there are rumors of a compound cryptid going around for a few weeks or months. thor brushes it off, has shared peanut butter with the “horrors” during late night snack time and didn’t know. natasha probably knew from the very beginning bc steve isn’t subtle and she Knows All. tony is the last to know ofc. bruce is concerned about hybrid welfare and is surprised that there's one here???

A lot of “how they react” and “how she reacts” really depends on the status of human-animal hybrids in this universe. A brief history:

for creatures to be treated as sub-human despite having human characteristics/appearances, it would mean that they’ve occurred naturally in the wild for some time and have been incorporated into human society as high class companions or status symbols but largely not.

glossing over a lot of historically linked phenomena like ✨british imperialism✨, the industrial revolution, capitalism, and rapid population growth, hybrids would eventually become victims of not only hydra but also other shady groups who either want to 1) capitalize on breeding and marketing hybrids or illegal trafficking/prostitution, 2) develop super soldiers that are hybrid-based (an alternative route to the serum), 3) or are just fucked up mad scientists who want to experiment on things that wouldn’t technically land them in legal hot water

bc hybrid laws are weird and complicated and i need a real lawyer to help me develop these (except i won’t bc this is strange lil au and i can’t dedicate my whole brain to it). as a whole, i don’t think it’d be strange for countries in the 21st century to have hybrid rights passed as legal regulations. they can talk, they can think for themselves, yes they have animal behaviors and special needs, but they are largely sentient and deserve to be called legal persons.

They can work and do things on their own but i think it’d be a very specialized field like dog hybrids working as TSA assistants bc they have good noses or cat hybrids being preferred dancers for ballet performances. Their role as companions are still relevant, bunny hybrids are cute and very nervous which make them less hireable as a barista for example but are ok for companionship.

(very vague term honestly, this ranges from the traditional lady’s companion role where they’re paid to just live with someone, babysitters/nannies, domestic partnership, to being caregivers or sugar babies 👉🏼👈🏼 also not sure how they'd get hired for this? word of mouth? registery?)

Raccoon hybrids exist but kinda.. aren’t useful in a field or are as desirable as companions. They don’t take orders as well as dog hybrids, are far too mischievous, and aren’t as aesthetically pleasing. Their common stereotype as pests have led to raccoon hybrids living mostly off-grid or as wanderers. This means they have more independence than other hybrids that live as pets but it also means that it’s not uncommon for them to be arrested or disposed of because of complaints.

Again, real life in the US is kinda terrifying right now. What is a right depends on state-to-state legislation. So while hybrids may have full rights in New York, the situation in Texas may be much worse where they are treated more like animals than persons. More horrors: possible open season?

All the Avengers would do their best to accommodate her and make her feel safe in the compound. Maybe they didnt think Steve would have gotten a hybrid on his own but ofc he'd pick one out of a garbage can 😌

I feel like parent AU Hirano WISHES Asami were interested more in electronics than ewwie gooey things like bugs and dirt and worms (hence, "The Slime Queen" nickname).

Alas, that little girl is gonna grow up to be a

Bonus points if she's into parasitology more than bacteriology but I feel like honestly she'd prefer parasitology. Bacteriology is boring in comparison, but I guess it depends on your professor.

ANYWAY.

Not to be all "ewww electronics!" Bc I'm sure she'll be plenty involved with a smart phone when she gets one when she's older ("not till she's in college", Kagi insists she has a flip phone until then).

But yeah Asami will always be a more hands on kinda kid with her energy levels and sense of curiosity. It's why I'd LOVE for her to be a scientist when she grows up 😂 but I don't want to think about that yet I just want her to stay little for a while and make Hirano's life a little more difficult by causing problems on purpose.

I jokingly said she'd grow up to be a graffiti artist in My Little Criminal-chan, but I like this potential of maybe having her interested in life sciences, and definitely the potential of her having a real proper chuunibyou phase where she's just obsessed with those kits you can get in the book fair catalogue for "mad science" and she just starts making up crazy pretend games like talking about using radioactive materials to sabotage her fkn English teacher or something for giving her a B on her last vocab quiz bc she has a fundamental disagreement about the way he phrases a question.

I just feel like Kagi and Hirano spoil her enough that she's definitely the type to do well in school but she won't hesitate to argue with authority if she feels like she's right. She's a smart cookie like her Papa, and she probably doesn't even need him for physics homework or anything later when she's in high school or college. (He hovers in case she has questions but really he's just hoping for her to depend on him so he can impress her like she used to be amazed by him when she was smaller. He just doesn't want to admit he's seeking approval in the form of his daughter's worship of him as a cool aerospace engineer like when she was younger.)

"My dad builds planes!" She probably brags to her best friend in middle school. "So he can get me all the stuff I need to nuke Ishida-sensei's car."

For one, that's not how Hirano's job works, though he does happen to know where in the industry one might order such dangerous materials. He just builds cad models of planes all day though.

Hirano has probably had this talk with her before. "We do not advocate for committing war crimes against your English teacher in this house, and no, it doesn't matter if they were wrong, use your words before chemical warfare."

Not that she even knows what kinds of chemicals are dangerous, she's just a chuu-ni with an imagination gone wild.

Kagi tries to give words of encouragement of how the teacher is just a person and we all make mistakes

Anyway. I don't know what Asami wants to be. I'm tempted to push her into chemistry bc of the mad scientist obsession thing but I have a personal soft spot for micro bc that was my undergrad major. Girlie's got possibilities but I'm definitely gonna capitalize on her being a weird kid.

We're a long ways away yet from me being ready to consider middle school Asami (Kagi's heart couldn't bear it yet), but I'm definitely building her from the ground up to prepare her for her concerning interests in blowing things up or poisoning people just for the sake of putting kagihira through an actual parental crisis about them raising a potential future criminal LOL

Can't draw for shit but just had an AU idea; what about a timeline where Goku and the gang just kept exploring space after Frieza?

The main reason that I came up with this was a general re-thinking of the Android Saga. What if instead of a random Earth scientist creating the androids, it was an intergalactic team of scientists, working to create something to beat Frieza. Of course, they can't control the perpetual energy machine they've created and it goes rogue.

So now you have a bunch of androids going around breaking shit. And since they have perpetual energy, you can't beat them in a traditional fight. And they've started terrorizing a new planet. This planet?

A race of bug aliens that can absorb energy.

So Goku and gang have to collaborate with the local population to drain the Androids all at once, so that Goku can finally finish them off.

That idea just seems more in-line with the old "problem solving" way of fights that the early era had. If it's not that good, forgive me.

This seems fun, anon!! GT took things back into space (they had the right idea, just poor execution) and eventually we got a taste with Super and the past couple manga arcs. But there's still so much they could do with space exploration! Speaking of which, there's still that strange lore drop about namekians being from outside universe 7? huh??

I love the Buu arc, but it is a little sad that they stopped the whole space exploration thing after Namek. Even Buu was a space-problem that happened to be sealed on Earth for millions is years. or was that retconned when toriyama said buu is an ancient being and but bibidi's creation? anyway

Like you suggested, turning the next threat after Namek into an off-planet issue tied loosely to Freeza seems like an obvious way to up the ante and expand the world. (Though I get why it ended up being tied to Red Ribbon instead, and Earth is just more convenient. Toriyama loves his convenience.)

I'm curious about how Future Trunks would fit in--or if he and time travel were still involved at all.

With space travel involved again, what's keeping barely-domesticated Vegeta from taking off? Maybe he takes off when he hears there's a threat so he can prove himself, only to realize traditional fighting won't work? How did our heroes first hear about this threat anyway?

And would alien Cell be friendly until he goes on a power trip? Does he go mad after absorbing one of the androids' energy, and the Earthlings in this au still have to protect the other androids from being absorbed?

So much could happen!! Write a fic if you can't draw!! Or if you love comics, draw anyway! Make the thing! I'd read a fanfic of that. ^^

Bucky is the big spoon! Because he’s bigger and it’s comfortable. Also a headcanon that Tony’s alternates between ‘love to melt into a hug’ and ‘can’t stand touching’. At those nights they sleep with a barrier but hold hands sometimes.

favorite non-sexual activity:

snuggles! When both of them are tired/not having a good day they come to each other and just flop. And they both love non-sexual physical intimacy because a tender touch is something to remind that everything’s good.

who uses all the hot water:

hm I believe that Tony made a super efficient water heater so that water just never runs out? Bucky does spend lots of time there when he feels cold (and it reminds him of cryo)

most trivial thing they fight over:

they have those teasing fights where they literally change they arguments 180 every fifteen minutes. There’s lots of snark, Tony’s being incredibly overdramatic, and then it turns out it was about something stupid like cavemen vs austronaut.

who does most of the cleaning:

the cleaning bots! But sometimes one of them goes on a cleaning spree which is less about cleaning and more about their mental state.

what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue:

Tony. Bucky’s mostly down to watch everything (although he loves sci-fi shows and fun effects). Sometimes though he tries to watch something incredibly bad/pretend to be super ignorant about classics just to make Tony splutter.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working:

Tony is the landlord, but in aus it’s Bucky trying to talk to someone while Tony wearing a mad scientist smiles goes no need Bucky bear I’ll fix it

who steals the blankets:

Bucky likes to be warm, Tony likes to be comfy, but they also tend to inconvenience themselves for the sake of other. It led to some complicated blanket moving in the beginning of the relationship, but then they just got more blankets.

who leaves their stuff around:

Tony because he has no manners, usually, Bucky when he feels too tired to deal with the world.

who remembers to buy the milk:

Bucky goes grocery shopping whenever it’s needed but always forgets something important. Tony never does unless it’s 2am and he’s suddenly inside the supermarket calling everyone he knows and asking them what they need.

who remembers anniversaries:

Jarvis. But, actually, Tony, while Bucky has a shittier memory.

Oh, I wrote the whole ass fic about it. But yeah, Bucky loves cooking, he can cook anything from anything, and he loves feeding Tony. It’s a thing. Tony doesn’t have time or patience usually, but he knows how, and some recipes have good memories of Jarvises, so.

How often do they fight?

Very rare! And it’s not a typical fight, Bucky usually closes off and says I need to go — because he needs a breather before he can deal with it. Tony was heavily freaking out at that at first, but they perfected the system, now Tony goes to blow something up or do anything physical, and when they’re both calm, they talk.

What do they do when they’re away from each other?

Work, meet friends, catch up on reading. They’re rarely away, and they have busy enough lifes that it’s pretty filled. They have daily calls/texting though, when they’re like oh. I have a husband. Oh I miss him :(((

Nicknames for each other?

Tony: a million of them. From Bucky bear and Snowflake to darling and honey. Bucky: petnames, doll, sweetheart, baby, all like that, because Tony has a thing for them. Also ‘Trouble’ sometimes.

Who is more likely to pay for dinner?

Tony tries to always pay, but Bucky tells him strictly that his Ma raised him a certain way so no complaining he’s paying.

Who steals the covers at night?

The same answer as the blankets one!

What would they get each other for gifts?

Tony gives either the most ridiculous bullshit that everyone’s baffled at while Bucky’s like I love it with all my heart or makes something as a gift which is usually insane and amazing (like an arm). Bucky is very good at random small gifts without a reason, like I saw this thing and it reminded me of you.

Who kissed who first?

Hm. Tony, because Bucky’s very unsure in his standing.

Who made the first move?

Bucky made his feelings clear but in a so it would be very fucked up for you to reciprocate way. Tony takes it as a challenge and shoves his tongue into his throat.

Who remembers things?

…nobody:D but yeah Bucky is an amnesiac and Tony has mental illness related memory issues.

Who started the relationship?

It kind of repeats the previous ones? They made out, then talked about what they wanted like adults. Who-hoo.

Who cusses more?

Tony! By a lot. Bucky does sometimes, but Tony feels the need to swear every other sentence.

What would they do if the other was hurt?

Tearfully wait for them to be alright -> lots of hugs -> can you stop sacrificing yourself??? / hypocrite! -> more hugging.
