idk if I've ever heard anyone (cis, trans, enby, whoever) explain their experience of gender in a way I could relate to or understand as being unique to the particular gender identity they're describing

it's like people trying to explain to me the precise vibes of different high schools in their hometowns that I've never been to. no like I genuinely believe you that mcwilliamsburg kids are posers and forrester-smith-tailor students are snooty potheads, but I have no way to apply and no reason to internalize this information

i watched Jungwon's My Little Day ep thinking it would be a healing ep like Beomgyu's but it made me just want to give Jungwon a tight hug bc damn, he really gave up his youth for his career and that he doesn't really know who he is as a person and doesn't know what/how to have fun outside of work

I just found out that the majority of the music I used to listen to back in my "emo phase" was actually nu-metal. I don't know what to do with this information

#like i mean. i always knew it wasnt 'real' emo music #i had friends who listened to 'real' emo music and tried to get me into their bands and i just didnt like them as much #i definitely was emo in like outlook and stuff but i was just into harder stuff music-wise #i always thought of the music i listened to as alternative rock or hard rock tho. which like. it still IS #but apparently more specifically its nu-metal. like. pretty much every formative band that i listened to at the time #im having an identity crisis now smh. was i actually... a baby metalhead? #i didnt even get into any emo music until AFTER my 'emo phase' ended 😔 im a fraud #rambling #disclaimer: i am aware that the subcultures are more than just their music lol #im the one that has that nearly 100k subculture praxis alignment chart going around rn with the funny ska addition on it #ive just been learning more about which bands are technically what (sub)genre recently and this discovery was funny to me #(apologies to any Actual metalheads i may have offended #by jokingly referring to myself as a metalhead for accidentally listening to nu-metal bands during my emo phase) #(...and to any Actual emos i may have offended by accidentally listening to nu-metal bands during my 'emo' phase) #(go ahead and laugh me out of the mall/skate park 😔 i deserve it)

You know I do mind my business when it comes to the majority of forms of queer discourse FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, but mostly because it is always So Dumb. Never has any nuance, never helps anyone, makes the lives better of absolutely zero people, and can actually have negative effects on the internal queer community as well as the external view of it. ‘Infighting is at best redundant, at worst harmful’ type of thing.

But every now and then a little something something will get me. Which is usually the absolute pride that someone has in being a bigot or an exclusionist, while also being apart of the queer community. Almost always going hand in hand with the blatant distrust of people in your own community to be genuine and know how they themselves identify. The almost competition to not seem like ‘one of those gays’ that fall outside of what is considered a societally acceptable way to be queer, as well as what that person specifically considers to be an acceptable way to be queer according to their own personal understanding of gender and sexuality.

The pungent audacity just turns on such a primal level of disgust and vitriol in me that throws all my anger management practice out the window.

You’re boring and unoriginal by contributing in the exact same stifling of queer voices and identity that cishet people have been doing for hundreds of years and calling it a hot take with pride.

Yeah my conclusion of the day about ruikasa is that Rui is aware of his own feelings, but doesn't want to ruin their friendship (especially since wxs is already on a timer, he doesn't want to cut it even shorter), and think he's selfish for enjoying moments with Tsukasa (like inviting him to that fuck ass lake that is a popular couple spot)

Tsukasa on the other hand is completely oblivious to Rui's feelings as well as his own. I defo think he doesn't get flirting, as well as him being aroace with some kind of internalized homophobia?? I think he's the type of dude that can't wrap his head about people around him being queer (but he wouldn't take it badly if anyone was, he's just surprised when every single one of his friends comes out to him), and not even one second thinks he himself could be queer

I finally saw the Barbie movie! I have. Thoughts.

#I am too deep in the Illness™ to fully articulate said thoughts but ultimately: #stylistically it was very good and it was extremely funny. I thought the message got muddied a little bit and the pacing was uneven. #I enjoyed it but I don't really have a burning desire to ever watch it again. #I thought ken was extremely annoying. #there were some really nice pieces of commentary in there that succinctly put words to a variety of issues. #but I ultimately felt like this was trying to be too many things at the same time. #like a feminist commentary AND a stylized comedy AND a celebration of weirdness/ordinariness AND an identity discovery story #and I think it would have worked better if either a) they had picked one of those and ran with it the whole way or b) this had been #formatted as a tv show so that each one of those could have been given the appropriate amount of time it deserved. I think it was just #trying to do too much in the space of a two hour movie #there were also these random bursts of like 'oh no I'm in a position of power/privilege that's so HARD I hate it so MUCH' but meant #completely earnestly? which I also found weird. #and like. the movie is fine. it's not evil or horrible or even badly-made it just didn't completely rock my world. it was a pleasant two #hours that made me laugh #mc13 watches stuff #please don't hate me I know how beloved this movie was
