i just kindda gotten this idea this past hour after scrolling threw

AO3 sooo.....

Bianca & Maria dies { not from Zues btw } so Hades became overprotective of Nico, so no one or any of the gods { besides Persephone & the other underworld gods even } knew about Nico existence

even more so after Nico started developing his underworldly powers & secretly keeps him in the underworld

{ spoiled & pampred by the underworldly beings, Charon, Cerberus, ect ect }

Nico became a sheltered & Shy boy never really meeting anyone alive or left the underworld in iver 80 years

Percy, Annabeth & Grover than came into the Palace to see a young boy sitting besides Hades throne playing with Mythomagic along with happy shadows surrounding him protectively

Nico referring to his mom as "Mama" implies he most likely at least used to refer to Hades as "Papa" and i 100% headcanon he still does but mostly in the manner of him having the entire Underworld wrapped around his finger for being the baby of the family

I know we all love the god/deity Nico. But just consider. Nico mistaken as a god.

Why? Because srsly, just imagine it.

You’re a new camper. You’re 8,9,10,11—idk, and your siblings are giving you a tour around Camp. You guys reach the Big House, and there’s Chiron, Mr.D, and then him.

This kid - not so much older than you’re - who wears all back, a sword by his hip, a distinctly powerful around him, sitting at the same table with Dionysus and Chiron. They have been talking when you arrived. He greets you with a silent nod.

Later that day, you see him again at lunch/ dinner. Still sitting with Dionysus. His plate is empty. They talk through out the meal. Perhaps he doesn’t need to eat.

You notice he has a private house all for himself, not so close to other cabins. Maybe he doesn’t like others trespassing in his place.

He’s also the quiet and reserved type, you figure.

He doesn’t talk much. But when he speaks, everyone listens. Whatever he has to say is usually impactful.

He usually sits with the goddess Hestia during the campfire. Rarely someone joins them. Will Solace does sometimes, probably bc the guy’s friendly with just everyone.

You see him in the Arena. His power is absolutely terrifying. Like. God-tier.

You take note of the fact he sometimes leaves Camp for days on a mission or an errand. Something about ghosts and Underworld. As far as you know, no one else in camp does that kind of task. And you absolutely didn’t expect the Underworld to be so easily in and out of. Not for a demigod, at least, because even the mighty Percy Jackson dislikes going there.

He talks about Cerberus and the Furies and Charon and calls Hades “dad”. He must be a chthonic deity. That explains his attire.

And the name di Angelo. It certainly sounds someone to take souls to the afterlife. The name Nico should be the equivalent of Apollo’s Lester.

When another god, Apollo - or Lester, comes visit. You see how the Olympian playfully jokes around and laughs with the Kid. In response, the Kid acts completely relaxed around him, despite not being one of Apollo’s children, whereas you’re there being like Omg it’s a God!. You figure that’s how fellow gods treat each other.

Nico di Angelo must be a God, right?

I've read alot of prompts, specifically from the likes of @yonemurishiroku about nico being a god, or being confused to be a god by newer campers of chb and camp Jupiter, but I couldn't really find what he's god of. So I give you:

Nico Di Angelo, god of metanoia, demigods, and demigod legacies.

In this I'm talking the psychological definition not Christian definition of metanoia which is "the process of experiencing a psychotic "breakdown" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing""

classic coffeeshop au except this coffeeshop is definitely a front for money laundering but the receptionist is So Cute so you can't blame jason for going there everyday

jason has wall of nico photos that are definitely not creepy and he insists that its just his cork board where he puts photos of friends on except its mostly nico.

god!jason kidnaps nico to piss hades off but oops now he's in love and he keeps making excuses as to why he cant release nico: weather's too hot, you owe me money, i have a cold, etc etc

It wasn't a shrine. No matter what Leo said, it wasn't a shrine. Shrines were completely different - Jason knew that. He had a couple actual shrines and this, this was just a photo album. It wasn't even technically dedicated to Nico. It just sort of... ended up there.

Jason couldn't really pinpoint when or how Nico's photos became the prime material of edge page. The album had been a simple idea. Something to look at when he was feeling lonely and remember that he had friends. Initially it was just a small photo book he took with him on his travels but ever since Leo made him that portable printer, he had expanded it to a couple collections.

He hadn't been hiding it either. The albums were innocuous from first glance, protected. Everyone knew he had them, he talked about them all the time. Every time he whipped out his disposable camera, and then later his shock-proof phone, he'd say a quick, "For the album." And they'd smile and pose. There were a lot of candid photos too.

Travelling was just easier for Nico. So he was around more. Checked in more. Of course, Jason was going to have a lot of photos of him.

But as he flipped through his albums, he was beginning to speculate that maybe Leo was onto something. It still wasn't a shrine but...

Well, Nico was pretty. The light caught his face in wonderful angles. There were times he'd be laughing and Jason would think, I have to remember this.

The thing about losing all your memories? You wanted to make sure you had something, just in case it happened again. He wanted physical proof. Leo was here. Piper baked cookies. Hazel had a birthday.

Nico laughed. Nico smiled. Nico disappeared into the corner shadows of the wall. Nico held a puppy. Nico walked around with a half-grown chicken on his head for two hours.

Jason closed the album shut and set it aside. Nerves tousled up inside him. This was... perhaps a problem he had not anticipated. He steeled his breathe inside himself.

It wasn't a shrine. Shrines were for worshipping. For holiness. And his pitures of his friends were important and beloved, but they weren't worshipped. Or holy to him. They were just memories. They were just moments. They were just...

He closed his eyes and exhaled softly.

Sprawled out on the bed, Leo snored. Jason honed in on the sound as he creaked open the album closest to him and reviewed the photos. Nico's hair caught in the moonlight, his head tilted back up to the stars, eyes closed, face blissful. Half a second later when he caught Jason taking a picturing and started laughing. Another half second and the smear of his hand, his dark eyes peeking out just above.

Jason traced the picture.

I knew you loved him, Leo had laughed hours ago as he'd flipped through pages, but I didn't realize it was obsessive horror movie shrine type love.

Of course, Jason loved him. He loved all his friends. Nico was important to him. And these photos weren't - they were just a memories. Just moments.

Jason flipped through the pages of the album. The brushes of air caught against his skin. Thoughts of sinking into shadowy tendrils, the rush of nothingness, fluttered to the front of his mind. Nico's hands cold against his. His quiet, Are you okay? as Jason readjusted to solid ground.

In the album, Nico reflected back at him from every corner. Dark eyes glinting with secret smiles. The curve of his jaw. The spread of his hands. Other people sat in the pages too. But Nico outnumbered them all. He was front and center. Just looking at him filled Jason with a thick warmth he hadn't felt in a very long time.

He paused. An understanding dawned on him.

Of course, I love him, he's my friend, he'd huffed back at Leo earlier. And it's not a shrine.

Leo had grinned wickedly. His eyes were alight with a knowing that Jason detested. He hated the way Leo always seemed to know him better than he knew himself. Not in a factual logical way - but emotionally. Jason could introspect on himself for decades and never come out with the emotional understanding Leo could sniff out just by looking at him.

It's totally a shrine, dude. He'd laughed a little here, hipchecked Jason. And you're not thinking of the same love I'm thinking of.

He didn't elaborate then and Jason didn't ask. But he got it now.

Maybe it was a shrine then. Sort of. Looking at Nico - candid and posed - filled him with a quiet delight, a sense of clarity. And there was devotion there. It sat quiet in his bones, waiting for the moment Nico would appear from the shadows like an unholy angel. Then it would rattle up cut through Jason's core like a hot knife. Like an iron brand.

He'd been branded in the name of a god before. Although then, he had been an unknowing participant, sat down before a group of adults and burned until his tongue bled. His shrine was devoted to a statue. His prayers heard without much response.

This time was different. His shrine was smiles and humanity, warmth. His calls went answered every time. The brand on his soul had been placed there willingly. He'd chased it down with heavy teeth and was rewarded with blood and family.

Jason pushed Leo's legs out of the way and crawled into place next to him.

The last couple of years had been spent wandering around from place to place, restoring temples, building shrines, remembering the forgotten, taking care of the old. In his travels, he'd hoped for a deity he could take pride in like he used to. When he'd ask them what they wanted from a follower, they'd smile knowingly with crooked teeth and sharp eyes and shaky hands.

They knew the truth he was too blind to see.

He'd already found his god.

Now he just needed to prove his devotion.

In another universe, she died, years earlier, as she gave birth to her children, leading to the death of one, while the other, Nico, was born when she was already dead, the spawn of a god and a ghost... a Reaper...

As such, by order of Zeus, he has been given the duty of aiding Thanatos in his work, and though Nico is hesitant at first, he soon discovers that it may not be as bad as he thinks

do you think nico and hades are cool with each other these days? would hades helo Nico if nico really needeed it?

Oh absolutely - I think their interactions in HoO (and again, see my like 5 different posts about Nico being guaranteed immortality after his death by Hades) pretty solidly confirm that. Them being on solidly good terms seems to start during the Battle of Manhattan - when Nico brings reinforcements in the form of Hades, Persephone, and Demeter. They seem to have mostly sorted out their disagreements and understand where each other are at, and by the end of TLO we see them generally being on good terms. By HoO they're actively communicating more, we see Hades giving Nico advice, offering him reassurance in BoO, etc etc.

I'd even go so far as to say Nico seems to also be on relatively good terms with Persephone now as well. Heck in TLO he even seemed on decent terms with Demeter, which is kind of fascinating in my opinion since we really only see them somewhat interact once.

Nico's really interesting in that regard to me because he's probably the demigod who is on good terms with the most deities we know of, or at least those deities view him favorably even if Nico is iffy on them. He's on good terms with his dad and step-mom, and seems to be on decent terms with Demeter. He's explicitly friends with Apollo and Hestia. If you want to count Iapetus/Bob, Nico is friends with him too. Dionysus is literally his therapist. Heck, Cupid even has a personal interest in him for whatever reason and after beating him up basically goes "good job, kid!" and it's implied they met a long time ago and HoH isn't their first interaction. Achlys (while being ominous) says Nico is "perfect" (because of his suffering, but at the same time she says it in a way that seems to be that she's praising that attribute of his and doesn't attack him or anything. So I like to go out on a limb and say she views Nico favorably). There's some implication that while Nico is personally iffy on the Hunters they don't view him negatively. And according to Un Natale Mezzosangue Nico is on even friendly terms with the Etruscan god Charu.

But yeah, re: your question, it is basically canon already that Hades would help out Nico if he's able to and Nico needs it.

something something Nico accepts becoming immortal for the sake of the after generations. Why? Because gods don't change and demigods - Percy, Annabeth, Reyna, Hazel, all of them - could only live for so long. Who's gonna shoulder the prophecies when they leave? Who's gonna make sure the promise to Luke Castellan is fulfilled? Who would remember Jason Grace?

So Nico stays. He stays to witness the change that Apollo brings. He keeps the memories alive. He's where the demigods, old and new, return to. The same way everything would sooner or later reunite in death.

Nico di Angelo wouldn't see that someone is wrong or distorted in the way he acts towards you. He firmly believes that he feels what he feels for you just because he loves you and there's nothing wrong with loving someone, right? Maybe some thoughts are more distorted but that's ok. He's fine, there's nothing to worry about.

He is always by your side, even if not always visibly. Nico has the power to travel through shadows and will use it to keep an eye on you. He's paranoid about your safety, he already lost his sister, someone he loved deeply, so he won't lose you too.

You probably won't even notice that he's there, literally in the shadows, watching you and protecting you. His eyes, expertly trained, swept the environment, attentive to any movement, any sign of danger. Nico was like a ghost, always vigilant, always ready to intervene, only noticed if that was what he wanted.

Nico is a generally reserved and quiet person, especially in the presence of other demigods, due to the fact that he feels out of place at Camp Half-Blood. He was like his father, always out of place in the presence of others, but you didn't make him feel out of place, but wanted. You made him feel wanted, like he truly belonged somewhere, with you.

This feeling is something he cherishes and craves more than anything. Nico desperately wants to be loved and accepted for who he is and you make him feel loved and accepted and he can't lose that comfort, that love. He can't lose you.

Nico knows, he is absolutely sure, that he would go crazy if something happened to you. If you were injured, or worse, killed, he would go crazy with anger and sadness. He is a very powerful demigod and the consequences would be serious. The only person truly capable of calming his fury would be you.

He sees in you a chance to be happy, something good in his life and he cannot and will not allow you to be taken away from him. Nico respects you very much and values you and your opinion above everything and everyone. He listens to you like he never listened to anyone else and will do whatever you want. Anything to make you happy.

Nico is quite possessive of your attention and doesn't like sharing it with others. They are not worthy of receiving it because they did nothing to deserve it, not like he did. You are his answer, his salvation and he adores you immensely, he adores you almost as if you were a deity. They don't do that, they don't adore you or appreciate you the way he does, so why would you waste your time on them?

He would definitely steal something from you that you wouldn't miss just to have a piece of you with him always. It could be anything from an item of clothing to your water bottle, he would take it because it's yours and he wants to have you with him. Nico is kind of your worshiper and protector and he craves your approval like a child.

Nico is extremely overprotective of you and that's no surprise. There were dangerous beings, monsters, that could hurt you or murder you and he couldn't have that. He prefers to keep you by his side, but he knows this is unrealistic, so he usually watches you and at any sign of danger, he will take you away. This goes for quests. When you're in danger, it's like something inside him shuts down and all that's on his mind is protecting you. And he used any means to make sure of it.

He doesn't like the idea of you going on quests, but he has no control over that, so he will insist on going with you. It's not ideal when he's hovering over you during a fight, but it proves effective because he doesn't let any monsters get close to you. And after the fight is over, he will wait for your approval and praise.

Nico is a protector, a caretaker who is always there for you when you need him, maybe he's not good with words, but he will offer you comfort and secretly enjoy having you need him, because it shows that you need him just as much. he needs you. And Nico needs you, only the gods know how much he needs you. Just don't leave him, because Nico doesn't know what he'll do if you abandon him.
