suddenly struck with thoughts about the devastating concept of Jason Todd
because he was good. because he had a bleeding heart despite every reason not to. he loved school and was good at it. he was the first to be adopted, with little pretense of guardianship. he did everything he could to be a perfect Robin and live up to an impossible ideal. he only ever wanted Bruce and Dick to like him.
because he met Bruce in the same place and on the same day that Bruce's parents died--the single defining moment of Batman's existence. and he made Batman laugh. he hit the Dark Knight, Terror of Gotham, with a tire iron. he wasn't afraid of the man who turned fear into a weapon.
because he couldn't save his mother from herself, but he tried. because he was too good not to try and save the woman who gave him up. too good to play the Joker's game. the crowbar didn't kill him, the bomb did. he died knowing he wouldn't make it and tried anyway. he died a hero.
because other Robins have died, but none of them put an irrevocable tear in the mythos of Batman. because Jason Todd always dies, in every universe. he dies for the sins of his father. he was put to death by popular vote, sacrificed by the crowd. doomed by the narrative and doomed by the audience. the boy who only ever tried to prove he was good enough--wasn't good enough.
because he has every reason to be angry. because he didn't ask to be murdered, didn't ask to be brought back, and when he did everyone acted like he was better off dead. Bruce tried to kill him and nearly succeeded. he's blamed for his own death and blamed for his resurrection. he can never come home because the house is haunted by his own ghost.
because he's been the hero, the victim, and the villain. because his family and his writers and his universe don't know what to make of him. they don't know how to look his tragedy in the eye. and how can you?
it hurts to look at the hero who cannot be good enough, the victim who will only ever be angry, the villain who can sometimes be right. the audience hates to feel complicit and, in this exceptional case, they are.

Welcome to Tumblr BL Fandom - Here’s Your Primer
memes, insider trading & obsession meta post
Tumblr media
The Death Stairs
They haunt us. These same stairs constantly pop up in Thai BLs and we worry that someone is going to die on them (or fuck on them, or both).
BL origin = unknown, we only recently started tracking them (but the actual origin of the death stairs is 99 Home Studio117, RPC6+JM3 ซอย รามอินทรา 117 Min Buri, Bangkok 10510, Thailand. It appears to be a house rented out for filming. Honestly? They should AirBnB that level of fame. I’d rent it, buy a cactus and a chili plant, just for the photo op.)
Rain Makes BL Boys Sick
For which the only solution is a sponge bath administered by another boy with a bowl of water and a damp white towel.
We don’t make the rules, the BL gods do.
origin of the rain=fever = cultural
BL origin for the sponge bath = 2014′s Love Sick
Tumblr media
The gayest bridge in Thailand
The Rama VII Bridge has appeared in so many Thai BLs - boys kiss on it and in front of it... A LOT.
BL origin = SOTUS 2016
Honor the Crumbs
Side dishes given very little screen time always end up being everyone’s favorites (especially in the pulps). Also falls under side dish syndrome. This is mostly a Thai BL thing, since they’re usually the BLs featuring more than one couple. (Taiwan is getting there, tho.)
BL origin = @heretherebedork
Tumblr media
The Engineering Department is Gay (also Pink Milk)
The hot Thai boy in the engineering smock (red or blue) is either gay or a chaos bisexual. There are no exceptions.
BL origin = SOTUS 2016
Korea’s BL bubble
A world where queer is simply accepted and a hostile society doesn’t exist.
Origin, probably Strongberry’s 2017-2018 shorts, but best known starters are 2020′s Mr Heart & Wish You
Tumblr media
Namgoong award for best wingman
Supportive straight(ish) besties! Appear throughout BL history, but really reached peak awesome with Namgoong, so a collection of us just started saying “thank you, Namgoong” whenever this archetype shows up.
BL origin, Light on Me
Korea’s BL formula
(1 short Kpop idol + 1 tall actor / random separation in the last half of the final episode) x a small cast = KBL (usually 6-8 episodes totaling under 2 hrs)
BL origin, 2015′s The Lover
Korean male beauty ideals here.
Tumblr media
Korea figured out boys can kiss
To be fair Strongberry always knew this and Just Friends? gave it to us in 2005, it’s just they forgot for a while. A long while.
origin = Korean 2022 BL
speaking of...
Dead fish kisses
This tradition carried for years by Japan’s light BL, early Thai BL like Love Sick, & then Korea. It took Thailand’s 2016 BL (specifically elder gods KarnNut & MaxTul) to start breaking this curse. Could be argued that Ohm in 2016′s Make it Right also paved the way (while BoomPeak exemplify dead fish kissing).
origin = early 2000s JBL when it was still known as Live Action Yaoi
Tumblr media
Taiwan = the kings of high heat
Taiwan always serves up the most consistent and authentic chemistry, kisses, and higher heat. Thailand has it as well, but isn’t as consistent about it.
BL origin = 2017 HIStory franchise and every Taiwanese BL since (although Eternal Summer probably started it in 2006)
Taiwan’s marriage equality
Taiwan was the first to feature sanctioned gay marriage in a BL, the first to depict queer engagements - and they regularly like to remind us that it’s legal there. As they should.
BL origin = HIStory 2: Right or Wrong 2017
Tumblr media
Thailand’s food = love
Lovers cook, serve, feed, and/or eat together. Always. At least something along these lines in every Thai BL.
origin, well just Thailand in general (and Asia to be fair), but probably SOTUS & Love Sick
Vietnam’s domesticity
Vietnam always depicts at least some of their characters in a home environment, with family life, adopted kids, and more.
BL origin = Tein Bromance Extra
Tumblr media
Cactus baby (and chili plant younger sibling)
Hilariously a cactus plant was deployed as a courting gift, spy device, and blooming representation of sexual awakening in MaxTul vehicle Manner of Death. Tumblr adopted that cactus baby.
BL origin = Manner of Death 2021
What China Did
Massive wholesale censorship curtailed/abruptly cut short multiple shows in progress in 2016-2017. Also resulted in rewriting and reshooting of those in production, and more weird and invidious things. This also showed up as a purge (and likely persecution) of Chinese queer vloggers on YouTube, the imprisonment of several danmai authors, and eventually the censored bromances we now get today.
BL origin victim = Addicted, Advance Bravely, etc...
Tumblr media
Japan’s lanes
Japan’s propensity to lean in favor of either
sweet, campy, and very low heat live action yaoi shot in a manga style with HEA, or
dark, gritty high heat queer cinema and pinks shot in an atmospheric style with tragic endings
BL origin, Boys Love 2006 & Takumi-kun 2007
History of Japanese BL here and the weeds of Japanese BL here.
#In Strongberry We Trust
Small, queer, Korean production house Strongberry had been producing short form pro-queer KBL successfully for years, long before larger studios picked BL up. But when they transitioned to long form in 2022, we were a little scared they wouldn’t stick the landing. #InStrongberryWeTrust became our mantra.
BL origin = Choco Milk Shake 2022
Tumblr media
Faen Fatal(e)
A side character, usually an ex-girlfriend but occasionally an ex-boyfriend, whose sole purpose is as a plot device to drive a wedge between the leads, or cause jealousy.
BL origin = Love Sick
The Thai BL Pulps
Very low budget BL with terrible sound, crazy soapy plots, and earnest acting.
BL origin = Make It Right 2016 (term coined by @heretherebedork & self)
Tumblr media
The Mame effect
AKA #oh mame must you?
The mameverse features great characters, killer actor chemistry, and higher heat combined with terrible damaging tropes and non-sensical plot devices.
BL origin = TharnType (although technically started in Love By Chance)
The 2 Moons Curse
When a popular BL franchise struggles to survive over one season and keeps having to recast the leads.
BL origin = 2Moons original 2017
Tumblr media
Dread Episode 11
AKA Doom of Ep 11
Explained here.
Golden Rules of BL
Never trust:
a Thai trailer,
a Viki Category,
a Vietnamese sub,
an MDL description,
a Taiwanese title,
Japan,
or a BL made before 2014.
Origin = me over the years

Fragments of her gaze.
Tumblr media
Summary: Left shattered by grief, Kaz struggles to connect with his son until they find solace in each other's presence. (Request from this prompt list)
Warnings: themes of grief, loss, death, and the emotional impact it has on the characters. It also touches on the topics of family dynamics and the process of healing.
Note: Very ooc Kaz. He is comfortable with touch in this story, only loved ones tho.
Kaz Brekker stood by the window of his dimly lit study, his eyes fixed on the bustling streets of Ketterdam below. The city he ruled, the city that had given him power, wealth, and respect. But amidst the shadows that surrounded him, there was one light that had brightened his world—the love he shared with Y/N and their precious son, Gregory.
It had been years since Y/N had entered his life, captivating him with her spirit and wit. She had become his partner in crime, his confidante, and his greatest love. Together, they embarked on daring heists and navigated the treacherous world of Ketterdam, their bond growing stronger with each shared triumph and whispered "I love you."
When Gregory arrived, their lives took on new meaning. He was a beautiful reflection of their love—a mix of Y/N's sparkling eyes and Kaz's determination. From the moment they held him in their arms, their hearts overflowed with a love that knew no bounds.
Days were filled with joy and laughter, as Kaz and Y/N reveled in the simple pleasures of family life. They watched Gregory take his first steps, listened to his contagious laughter, and marveled at his curiosity as he explored the world around him. Every milestone, every precious moment was etched into their hearts, creating a tapestry of love and cherished memories.
Tumblr media
Kaz Brekker, once again, stood by the window of his dimly lit study, his eyes fixed on the bustling streets of Ketterdam below. But as the night swallowed the sun, it also swallowed the last traces of happiness that once resided within him.
It had only been a few months since Y/N's untimely death. It had taken just one fateful night, one deadly mistake, for her to be ripped away from him forever. The memory of that heist still haunted Kaz's every waking moment. Y/N had been his partner in crime and in life, and the pain of losing her was a constant ache in his heart.
Their son, Gregory, had been left shattered by the tragedy. The once vibrant boy now carried the weight of grief upon his young shoulders. Kaz couldn't bear to look into his eyes, so achingly similar to Y/N's, without feeling the weight of their shared loss. It was a pain he knew his son carried as well.
As the door creaked open, Kaz's heart skipped a beat. He knew it was Gregory, despite the silence that hung in the air. The boy had aged beyond his years, his innocence ripped away by the harsh realities of life and death.
"Dad," Gregory's voice quivered, tears glistening in his eyes. "Why won't you look at me? Why won't you talk to me? It feels like you've left me too."
Kaz turned slowly, his eyes filled with his own grief. His voice trembled as he replied, "You have her eyes."
Gregory's tears fell freely, his voice breaking with sorrow. "I'm not her, Dad. I can never replace her, but I'm here, and I need you. I need my father."
Kaz's heart shattered at the anguish in his son's voice. He closed the distance between them, his hands reaching out to embrace Gregory. "You're right. I've been consumed by my pain, but I promise you, I won't ever leave you."
They held each other, tears mingling, the weight of their loss uniting them. In that moment, Kaz realized that he couldn't let his grief isolate him from Gregory. They needed each other to heal and find solace in the darkness.
Days turned into weeks, and their shared grief slowly began to bind them together. Kaz started opening up, sharing stories of Y/N with Gregory, keeping her memory alive. They found solace in each other's presence, understanding that their pain would never truly disappear, but could be faced with love and support.
As Kaz and Gregory walked side by side, their steps in sync, a sliver of hope illuminated their path. It was a long journey towards healing, but they were no longer alone. Together, they would navigate the shadows, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. And in that bittersweet dance of grief and love, they would find the strength to move forward, cherishing the memories of the woman who had brought them together and shaped their lives forever.
Tumblr media
Years had passed since that painful moment when Kaz and Gregory began their journey of healing together. They had weathered the storm of grief, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. Kaz had become a pillar of support and love for Gregory, guiding him through life's trials and triumphs.
Now, as Kaz lay on his deathbed, his breaths becoming shallower with each passing moment, his mind wandered through the memories he had cherished. The years had left their mark on him, etching lines of wisdom and experience onto his face. The city he had once ruled now thrived under a new generation's watchful eyes.
Gregory, now a grown man with a family of his own, sat by his father's side. The roles had reversed, as Gregory became the rock that Kaz had once been for him. Kaz's gaze flickered to his grandchildren, who played at the corner of the room, their laughter filling the air. They were a testament to the resilience of life, a reminder that love and family endured.
"Dad," Gregory's voice was filled with a mixture of sadness and gratitude. "Thank you for everything you've done for me, for being there even in the darkest of times."
Kaz managed a weak smile, his hand reaching out to grip Gregory's. "You were the light that guided me, Gregory. You showed me the way back from the depths of despair. I couldn't be prouder of the person you've become, and the family you've created."
Gregory's eyes welled with tears, his voice catching with emotion. "I wish Mom could’ve been here to see it all."
Kaz's voice was filled with tenderness as he replied, "She's always been with us, watching over us. She would be proud too, of the love and strength you've shown. Remember, love never truly dies."
As Kaz's final moments approached, his family gathered around him, a circle of love and support. He felt the weight of a life well-lived, despite the pain and losses he had endured. The legacy he would leave behind was not one of power or wealth, but of love, resilience, and the enduring bond between a father and son.
With his last breath, Kaz whispered words of love to his family, their hearts forever etched with his memory. He knew that Gregory would carry on their legacy, passing down the lessons he had learned, and cherishing the gift of family.
And in the years to come, as Gregory watched his own children grow, he would share the stories of their ancestors, of the legendary Kaz and Y/N Brekker, and the love that had transcended time. The circle would continue, the bond of family unbroken, and the spirit of Y/N would forever live on through their love, their laughter, and the strength that Kaz had instilled in them.
In that final moment, as Kaz embraced the unknown, a sense of peace settled over him. He had faced his demons, found redemption, and built a bridge from grief to love. He closed his eyes, knowing that his journey was complete, and a bittersweet smile graced his lips. He could almost feel her presence, the love of his life, waiting for him on the other side. He was ready to be reunited with Y/N, to feel her warmth once more and to share an eternal embrace. As his spirit soared, he whispered his final words, "Wait for me, my love," and surrendered to the gentle embrace of the afterlife, ready to embark on a new chapter of their love story.

Another ‘HUNGER GAMES’ update nobody asked for.
I am so sad rn. SO MANY PPL DIED AND I CRIED BUT NOBODY HURT ME LIKE FINNICK. HIS YELLS FOR KATNISS HAUNT ME. AND THE WORST PART IS I WAS WATCHING IT IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY AND COULDNT CRY UNLESS I WANTED THEM TO THINK I WAS HAVING ANOTHER MENTAL BREAKDOWN LIKE MY THROAT STILL HURTS FROM HOLDING BACK TEARS. No seriously why did they make him so lovable likeee. You could’ve killed gale (whom i acc love as of right now), peeta (we all know how i feel abt him…), ANYONE but you chose FINNICK? ALSO he died saving katniss and then yelled for her to help him and she BLEW HIM UP!!! Like i get she probably didn’t want him to suffer in death but like MY BABYYYYY. I couldn’t even finish the movie. I need someone to say sike RIGHT NOW!
And another thing. I didn’t know a lot going into watching this but peeta being katniss’s love interest but gale is like a catch tho. SO FAR AT LEAST. But i 100% would’ve went for gale. And i also just really dislike peeta. Anyway i did like Coriolanus (younger) because he was played by Tom Blythe but i 110% hate him because he killed finnick later in his life and i truly hope he dies a painful death by those sores in his mouth.

Saw your most recent post and akjcsbakcb I LOVE HIM 😭😭
Also! I was wondering if you have any Jason hurt/comfort fic recs?
nonny, i have so many recs!!! possibly too many lol 🥲 it took a hot second but i narrowed it down to 12! first tho im just gonna recommend everything by @envysparkler (ao3) and @lurkinglurkerwholurks (ao3); ive cried liberally going through their whole works and it's all 👏 so 👏 good 👏👏👏
anyways, onto the rec list! ☀️ these are all batfamily hurt/comfort gen fics centred around jay & his family (usually bruce).
* btw these are in no particular order, and the word count is rounded to the nearest thousand! (ie. 3764 words will be listed as 4k)
If the Sky Comes Falling Down (For You) by lurkinglurkerwholurks | 21k
5 times jay saves his siblings + 1 time they save him. it's got some humour in it but it's also soft and involves the trope of all of them coming to his rescue when he thinks no one will :')
Breathing by lurkinglurkerwholurks | 4k
jay is extremely hurt in this one but he's also the one doing most of the comforting via dark humour while his family freaks out lol. spoiler alert: includes the trope of injury hiding (specifically the one where a character literally holds their guts together lol) so as to not worry anyone further
hellhole by envysparkler | 4k
jason gets caught in an explosion and doesnt know if anyone can hear him call for help bc no one is replying, so he crawls out of the wreckage himself. there is so much angst and it's so good. spoiler alert: ofc they hear him, he just cant hear them. and ofc he narrates everything out loud ;P
grave secrets by envysparkler | 5k
tw suicide attempt. jason decides to return himself to his grave after the joker incident, and starts digging. he is v obviously not in a good headspace; tim shows up to try to stop him, even tho he's still injured from jason attacking him at titans tower. a line that continues to haunt me: “Here Lies Jason Todd,” he recites, and shrugs, “I’m just following directions.”
A Psalm of Grief and Anguish by LeilaSecretSmith (orphan_account) | series: 9k total (4 works)
tw suicide attempt. after jason successfully kills the joker, he realizes there's nothing left for him now that he's achieved what he wants. bruce finds him on a rooftop. (dick, tim and damian are poised for a catch.)
Recollect, re-collect by Ptelea | 94k
jason gets hit with a spell that makes everyone forget about him. the counterspell involves everyone talking about why no one wants to forget him. also heavily about the robin mantle and legacy, so it becomes a very jason & dick family feels fic. my favourite thing about it is that there's this mantra dick teaches his successors: "Robins balance different than Bats."
Stargazer by LemonadeGarden | 48k
jason and bruce go on a road trip cuz they never did that before jay died. there's also a memory jason revisits often throughout the fic of b teaching him constellations and jay feeling safe and the wistfulness and longing surrounding it hurt so much but it's so good. 🥲 this fic makes me ache remembering it.
A GRAVE FILLED WITH BOOKS. by orpheusaki | 5k
sometimes it feels like everyone's grown up and jason's stuck at the age he got murdered. sometimes he doesnt recognize bruce as his dad anymore, with how much jay's death changed him. bruce lost his son, and jason lost his dad, but they still have each other the way they are now. they're still father & son.
World’s Saddest Breakfast Club by motleyfam | 7k
jason's just escaped captivity and needs to eat, so he decides to go to the manor at ass o'clock and cook the lobster that is supposed to be for bruce's bday dinner for himself. his siblings come into the kitchen one by one while he cooks and he cooks for them too. funny, warm, and very food as a metaphor for love.
Aftermath by ivy_and_ivory | 25k
this is a bit more plotty than the rest of them lol. the red hood kills the joker than disappears from gotham. later, batman meets an injured red hood in paris and have to work together for a case. he doesnt know it's jason (yet). this is the fic that made me really understand what bruce means when he says "if i start killing then i cant stop."
life, if well lived by CaptainOzone | 11k
jason accidentally time travels and meets thomas and martha wayne on what turns out to be The Day. jay'a full of complicated feelings about bruce, but at the end of the day, jay's still his son (and those are his grand-parents).
Both Ends of the Candle by Lunette3002 | 5k
jason's been overworking himself and his brothers stop by his apartment to tell him to slow down. ends in couch cuddles. 🥰
there ya go, anon! hope u enjoy :)))

hey your post were you mention the narrator of rebecca lies by omission is haunting (pun intended teehee) me, what did you mean when you said she lies by omission, feel free to rant btw
-💗
Did you mean [this] post?
Tumblr media
AHH!! mrs de winter,,, that girl is a liar and the most conniving woman i have ever had the pleasure of reading jk
but actually i mean it tho that she does lie by omission. i tagged this as the musical but in terms of the show, i dont think she actually lies in that one, especially as far as how most actors in that role interpret her character.
but book mrs de winter?? my goodness,,,, when i made this post the scene i was really thinking was the prologue for the most part, when shes describing her life living with maxim at that hotel after the fire. there's this kind of way where shes saying shes content but like against her descriptions about the kind of glamour that manderley had, their quaint life together feels so,,, dreary, like a half existence, not really a life not really in death yknow? if u read in between the lines at this listless kind of development of setting, shes saying all these things about living an ordinary life but in a tone where shes not satisfied with it at all,,,
Tumblr media
this quote from the the top of chapter 2 is like one that gets referenced a lot but people never quote the whole thing, she says "we have conquered ours, or so we believe." like first of all who the fuck says "or so we believe" in a statement where shes trying to justify or rationalise the ordeal that they went through and the outcome of it (being this dreary life) as a net positive,,, like why are u being so ominous now,,, and then the next line "the devil does not ride with us" like babe,,, ur not being honest with yourself,,,, u just said "oh we conquered ours, jk unless,,, but we did yknow," she has such a flip floppy way of framing things that makes u question which is it really? i think its a testament to that idea of rebecca being a mirror and finding what you want to see, and for me i see this person desperately trying to frame something that is still deeply affecting her to this present day as if it doesnt. like someone else who might wish to feel the same way might only see the oh we've conquered it and not pick up on the unease of or so we believe, just that the devil does not ride us anymore. to a reader who wants to see that, they will interpret this quote as a triumph, which often is usually the case.
Tumblr media
like she says that the unrest has "mercifully stilled" but at the drop of a hat "the past is still too close to us." their situation remains in this precarious balance, if they go too far in any direction they endanger this so called peace,,, this is not a life that has progressed beyond what happened,,,
and the cherry on top is this beautifully long gorgeous passage that is EXPOSING HER for her lies about being happy in this small hotel half-existence with maxim. u just have to read all of it actually to understand, and if u dont, well,,,
(i also annotated it; red is the negative aspects, blue is the postive/their ordinary life, and green is when she starts talking about manderley and her love of that place)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like its so easy to attribute the love of manderley as being primarily held by danny or by rebecca or by maxim even, but the person who loves manderley most in this novel (yes by virtue of it being a first person pov but also bc its true) is mrs de winter. i highlighted in my physical copy of rebecca ever single time she mentioned manderley in a very flattering or loving way and its basically the whole book. she loves this castle, this place is the epitome of all her aspirations; becoming a lady, rising in class status, the image of a perfect marriage a perfect home a perfect family, manderley holds all of that in her heart so when she talks about manderley she exposes herself so deeply if you are willing to listen to her.
that part about her saying "colour and scent and sound, rain and the lapping water, even the msits of autum and the smell of the flood tide," these things that quite truly colours our quality of life are "secret indulgences" implies that these inherent basic things that make life beautiful are things she cant access without rocking the seemingly still peace that they have. especially with the way that maxim reacts to it and how she picks up on that. she has to rely on the dull and the boring monotonies to continue that so called peace even though thats not whats personally fulfilling for her,,, the line where she says "we prefer to store up our excitement; the result of a cricket match played many days ago means much to us" ,,, doesnt that sound so sad? theyre not even living in the moment anymore, if they did i think it would kill them to be quite honest.
so many of the positive/ordinary lifestyle descriptions are weaved against these pitiful sounding statements and its truly like,,, why stitch it like this? if daphne du maurier wanted us to feel like this was the life that was better, the one that you should choose or idealise, than the chaos of manderley why did she write it like this? why not just say that she was happy, why add those hints of melancholy?
and because of that i feel like shes lying by omission. its like all these things shes saying are half truths. its true that ordinary or even dull days are better than chaotic ones because youre not pained by such hurtful circumstances but at what cost? the joy and excitement of life? its like all of her descriptions of their life after the fire are backhanded compliments,,,, im just so curious about the other half that she isnt saying,,, when she doesnt say what shes implying it just feels like what she did say was a lie by omitting the rest of it.
does that make sense? do u get it?

tyrion vii
is it wrong that i think tyrion poisoning cers is funny?
lancel is so dumb and he was turned so easily. he was one of cersei's biggest mistakes
"knighthood is nothing" true
tyrions like. i feel bad about playing the game but im gonna play it! he reflects - accurately imo - on why ned and jon both fell before him too.
"it is not what we do, so much as why we do it" hmm
tyrion is preoccupied with being "faithful" to shae. mess.
at least alayaya gets to take a nap
not tyrion hiring ugly gay guards
"concubine" ok............
well, he's in love
arya vii
arya is officially in her cinderella era
everyone: oohh the castle is haunted. / arya: its the wind dumbasses
she even notes the direction that causes it and that its going thru the cracks in the stone where they broke from fire. observant af
"it was the living men she feared"
arya is already concerned that she will "forget" those on her list. which i think speaks to how she feels responsible to right the wrongs she’s witnessing while imprisoned. its such a heavy burden for her to carry tho
harrenhal’s stable can hold 1000 horses and its great hall has 30+ hearths. everything is built to an "inhuman scale" so cool
the cooks spit in harys swyft's food lmao
beric's resurrections are well known already
arya is one of the few povs? to be familiar with the dothraki before even stepping foot in essos
the show robbed us of zebras!
swyft’s squire got stabbed to death. nonstop Ls for this guy
“i'll kiss her and beg her pardons like a proper lady, she'll like that.” so sweet but it does bug me that theres absolutely nothing on sansa’s end to compare with this.
alright we got 3 dozen northern captives in the house: freys, manderly, karstark, cerwyn
she thinks lord cerwyn would be "honor bound to help her" baby not every northern lord is like your dad
she also thinks about ned saying sellswords will betray anyone for enough gold. not untrue and good to keep in mind. she thinks a lot about ned’s lessons in this chapter.
and lord cerwyn is dead. arya remembers she cant rely on anyone for help
wolf dream!
"i was always a girl" this line serves as meta commentary bc despite a certain level of non conformity and temporarily concealing her gender arya's arc is still defined by the experience of being female and furthermore-
i really think arya is going to end up in a similar situation in braavos with arya stealing from *the many faced god (*you can tell the FM were not that developed here with the red god reference)
chiswyck's story is truly one of the most disgusting things ive read in asoiaf......arya would be justified in ripping out these guys throats with her teeth
she refuses to talk to the soldiers and gets beaten bc of it
they didnt just rape a child but killed her brother and tormented a whole family. how do you process and cope with that (and the fact that it goes unpunished!) when its happening right in front of you? it would be weird if arya WASN’T angry about it
and that night there was one less name to hate!!!!!!!!
catelyn iii
brienne, melisandre, and catelyn in the SAME scene???? showstopping!
catelyn got the worst job in westeros: playing mommy to a couple of manbabies
baratheon bros couldnt just tolerate each other huh
trying to think of one sibling reunion in asoiaf that hasnt ended poorly?
catelyn @ renly: you should pray.....that you grow a brain! renly decided to have gay sex instead. .

I kinda hope they go into more depth on the Draconia family in chapter 7, and I’m hoping Malleus’ grandma isn’t “neglectful” of her grandson, with her duties and what not (tho it might be implied kinda like with Kalim). We know chapter 7 is gonna be tackling themes like family, grief, death and the impermanence of things, but the twst team has so much room for angst with any of these themes. Like I can’t imagine the pain grandma Draconian went through when her only son died (at least I’m assuming the previous king was her son), leaving her a grandson on top of resuming her role as the queen and again, it wouldn’t be far fetched to say she swamped herself with her duties to cope with the grief. It’s possible that Lilia saw this and took it upon himself to raise Malleus for most of his life. Though, Malleus seems to have a positive relationship with his grandma so maybe it wasn’t that bad.
But with the theme of death, I just watched the new Pinocchio movie by Guillermo del toro and I would totally recommend you watch it if you haven’t already, and all I’ll say is that it ends on a pretty depressing note. And if chapter 7 dives into themes of death and grieving, then the only outcome is that Malleus has to accept that things don’t last; that everyone around him, Silver, Sebek, Lilia will eventually leave and he will be left until he’s gone too.
This ask made me remember a very old Maleficent fanfic on FF.net I read when I was in my live action Maleficent phase. Essentially, it was about Maleficent watching all her loved ones grow old as she remains the same. Aurora was her beloved friend and kind of a daughter of sorts. Diavolo was her beloved pet raven. But one line in that fic said that Maleficent could no longer remember the exact shade of Aurora's blue eyes or the exact timbre of Diavolo's voice. And that still resonates with me from how quiet and heartbreaking it is.
I really want them to go in depth with the Draconia family too! Same with you, I want to think that she really doesn't intend to neglect Malleus and just got swamped with her duties as queen. Malleus did say in chapter 7 that he was upset when his grandma couldn't join him for dinner last minute. It seemed to imply that they planned it ahead, so grandma Draconia really tried to be with her grandson. Using work to cope with the guilt of losing her child, though... ;u; that's very possible. And tragic, so tragic. It's a good thing Lilia was always there with him. But it still didn't change the fact that he's lonely.
The way that they're taking the curse is really really interesting. You have Silver, who may have the movie's curse. In a way, Malleus' whole not getting invited schtick might be a curse in of itself. But I also want to talk about one other part of Aurora's curse that's related to the idea of accepting the evanescence of this world. Live action Maleficent made her curse in a way that "no power on earth can break this curse". And she tried to break this curse on Aurora later on, only for those same words to haunt her. She may not have been the afflicted one, but the curse affected her anyway in the sense that she could lose Aurora to it.
Malleus has always been revered for his power, but he even says in chapter 7 that no matter how powerful he is, he can't keep the people he cares about in his life. In a way, it's similar to how Maleficent ended up being affected by Aurora's curse. The people he cares about will end up sleeping permanently... and all Malleus can do is watch until his time comes. And in a world where true love's kiss doesn't exist like in fairy tales, the idea that Malleus has to accept that things will not last and he has to say goodbye someday is probably what's going to be the ending lesson. Aurora may have woken up at the end of the movie... but it won't prevent her from dying someday.
#walangforever :)
Also, I heard that Pinocchio movie was good! Haven't gotten around to watch it, but hey, maybe one day I will. If I can bring myself to .-. I'm not a movie person hahaha

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐨𝐧
William Afton x fem reader
(Based on Bride of chucky)
(Part 1)
……….
You finally did it. You finally found him.
It’s been a few years but you did it. He’s at some horror attraction called “fazbears fright”. And luckily, you had a friend that lived next door and his dad worked there.
You dated him for quite some time, of course this was before you found out what a monster he was. He murderd children! You were disgusted….especially when you thought about all the things you did with him. But a part of you still loved him. You hated him. But loved him.
But after the whole spring lock incident happened, it was almost impossible to find him. But now he’s used as some sort of “scare gag” at fazbears fright. Honestly, you were unsure if you REALLY wanted to go get him. But, you missed him and it would be dangerous to let him be free there. You were sure he would try to escape. So it would be better if you got him first. There would be less deaths that way.
The plan was simple. You asked your friend if you could borrow his extra key to the place, to retrieve something you left there on a previous visit. And go there and load him into your car.
You arrive there and go inside. Luckily, you didn’t have to worry about security because the security guard recently quit and they haven’t found a new one yet. You found him in one of the rooms. There he was. William Afton. Trapped in a decayed yellow Rabbit suit that now looked a bit more green, but still William Afton. Honestly he didn’t seem to be alive. But you dragged him to your car anyway.
You drive home and get out of your car, but before you can open the backseat door you hear a voice. “Hey y/n!” You turn around to see your neighbor Jason. “Oh hey Jason, what’s up?” You ask. “Did you find your thing?” Oh um yeah I did” he puts his hand out “good. Can I have my key back?” “Oh sure”. You hand him the key back “do you ever even go to your dad work place?” You ask, genuinely curious. “No not really, I think he just gave me keys because I’m his closest family. Y’know, for “emergencies”. But I don’t really care too much for the place” he answered. He goes on. “Anyway, I’m heading over to my girlfriend’s”. You nod. “Okay, buy!”
You watch as Jason gets in his van and drives off. You then turn back to your car. You bring him inside to your living room and set him up against the wall.
You tap him. Trying to wake him up. “Hello?…wake up. Wake up! William!….god damn it” you stand up and go to your room to get a book you bought called “Voodoo for Dummies”. You bought it ever since you knew about the kids haunting the animatronics. Tho there was a lot of cool things in the book, but it seemed that William wasn’t really…awake or alive. So maybe there was something that could awake him. You hoped so. It was the only thing that you thought might work. Your last resort.
You found a spell, a chant that awakens spirits. So you go over the the bunny man and start the chant
“Ade Due Damballa! Give me the power, I beg of you! Leveau mercier du bois chaloitte! Awake!”
Nothing happens. “Awake!…awake awake awake!” You give him a slight shove. “Son of a bitch..” you felt defeated. All your effort of finding him was pointless. At least you had his body, I guess?
You hear a knock at the door. “Who could that be?”

Someone (you know who you are) asked me to do a full story of the little short I did where eddie came back to life so here it is. This will be like a onshot but I might do like a full story on wattpad if I can be bothered. So enjoy I guess
----------------------------------------------------------
'Alive and happy again' eddie munson x male!reader
Summary: after Eddie's death you move away but since some of your relatives live in Hawkins you have to go and visit, (the little short I did will be included in this, some things will be changed tho)
Cw: metion of death, blood, biting, (if I missed any please tell me) fluff and angst
Tumblr media
Your pov
That day was one of the worst days of your life. The day you lost a friend that you loved so damn much. You loved eddie, and no one but you knew. You wanted to tell eddie so bad but you never did and now it was too late, now you'd never get the chance to tell him.
It was hard to stay in Hawkins. You started to have nightmares and overall just couldn't sleep. But it wasn't like the others where doing amazing either. You rarely talked to them now. Most of the time they where running around helping where they could and so where you.
But in the end acoulpe weeks after eddie's death you and your family packed up and moved. It was to much of a pain to stay in Hawkins. Besides it started to look and feel like a ghost town. You didn't move far but far enough so the memories of what you witnessed wouldn't haunt you. It was hard to leave everyone behind but what other choice did you have. To stay and remember what happened, to remember what a coward you where to never tell eddie how you felt.
Dammit if you knew he wouldn't make it out you would have spilled your heart out to eddie right then and there.
It was hard to sit in that car. Driving in silence with only the occasional cars driving past. You didn't even get to say goodbye to your friends but you guessed it was better that way.
Eddie's pov
Eddie shot up looking down at himself to only see a ripped shirt and some scars. No open wounds or blood. It was like that pain he felt just minutes before had faded or never even happend. He felt weird. He almost felt like his skin wasn't his and he felt this hunger. A hunger that couldn't be satisfied with normal food. It almost burned. He had to stop this hunger. But he also had to get out off here. Here being the upside down. But was that even possible?
The answer was yes. It was possible. He was now sat infront of the people that thought they beat vecna. Well almost all of them. Max was nowhere to be seen and so was robin as the same for m/n. Everyone told him max was in the hospital and robin spent all of her time helping around. But in general most of the group wasn't there. But when eddie asked about m/n they couldn't give him and answer. No one knew where he went. It's was like he just vanished. One day they saw him and then the other poof, he's gone.
Eddie was heart broken and now it was his time to have constant sleepless night. I mean literally he didn't sleep, he didn't even feel tired. Well physically at least.
Don't get it wrong tho, eddie was over the moon to be alive and to have what he called 'superpowers' now. He was so glad all his friends and his uncle where okay but every time he felt happy his mind would drift back to m/n. His dear friend and the guy he was head over heels for.
He couldn't even go out and look for you. Everyone that was left in Hawkins thought eddie was still missing or dead. But still that didn't stop eddie going out as night and looking. It was really easy to look around at night since it seems that one of his 'powers' was that he could see in the dark. That was one of the perks but there where non perks. The hunger was getting to damn bad to ignore. It was almost impossible, and if its even possible it got worse every time m/n came to his mind.
The only way he found he could keep it at bay was eating meat. Not like cooked meat but raw meat. He hated it but if that ment stopping the burn in the back of his throat so be it. But that didn't mean the hunger wasn't there.
Big time skip (still Eddie's pov kinda)
It was months later now. Hawkins was quiet now and the families that did stay struggled. Eddie was presumed dead. And only the gang and his uncle knew he was alive. M/n was presumed to be dead by the gang aswell which broke everyone's hearts.
Life was hard in Hawkins now. Harder than before. The giant portals where always gaurded and getting over them was a pain in the ass. It was hard to get life to flow in Hawkins again. Everyone Normally stayed home. But some went back to their jobs and some (but barely any) kids went back to school.
The gangs visits to see eddie where becoming more and more rare and since his uncle went back to work he was alone 99% of the time. He hated it. He hated the damn silence, it made his thoughts wander which was something he hated even more.
His thoughts would normally wonder of and you would come to mind. He didn't belive that you where dead he just didn't want to. He tried to think of a way he could prove to the others that you where still alive. That you weren't dead and your body was simply missing. And then it clicked.
You had living relatives in Hawkins. If anyone knew where you were it would be them. His eyes lit up with the realisation that there was still a possible chance that you where alive that you could still be okay. He shot up out of his bed but stopped himself. What I'd someone saw him? Hawkins isn't exactly the kindest town. The rumour of him, eddie munson being alive would spread like wild fire. He took a step back from the door and bolted back into his room searching for anything that could cover him.
He tied his hair up and pulled up his hood to hide his face and wore the baggiest pants he would find and took of his rings and anything that could get him easily recognised. After checking everything he bolted out the door not even bothering to lock it. He ran like hell to you aunties house. He's been there once or twice so he knew where abouts it would be.
He ran almost the whole way if he doesn't count the amount of times he stopped. When he got to the house his heart skipped a beat. It was you and your parents except you looked uncomfortable and like you didn't want to be here.
Eddie stopped right in the middle of the road which caught your attention. You didn't recognise him at first but when his hood slid down revealing him, eddie munson (kinda??) Alive and well you almost fell from what it looked like.
Eddie ran to you and jumped into your arms. He squeezed you tightly crying into your shoulder. When all of a sudden his hunger went crazy. A smell. A smell that could only be described as godly. It was coming from you. He tried to ignore it and just be happy that you where alive but the hunger over powered and emotion he was feeling at that moment.
Your pov
He was alive. I couldn't belive it. I thought having to come back here was going to be hell. My life was going good and I almost forgot about Hawkins. But when my parents told me we had to go back for a little family 'get together' my world almost crumbled. But all that sadness was long gone cause now I had the love of my life in my arms, crying into my shoulder. I was so happy almost at tears myself when I felt something. A bite.
Eddie was biting me. No, not just biting me but drinking my blood. I could feel it. My legs where becoming week and eddie had to hold me by the waist to make sure I didn't fall. I was in shock. I didn't speak and didn't move. I just kinda let him drink from me.
The moment he stopped I snaped out of it and gave him a 'wtf look' but when I saw his face he looked like he just solved the worlds hardest problem. He looked up at me with a grin that faded as soon as he saw my expression. He gulped before taking a step back.
He proceeds to explain how the last few months where uter hell for him and that he did indead died but in some way shape or form he didn't but now he was always hungry and turns out his hungrer was for blood.
After explaining he looked up at you agian to which he found your expression has softened. You pulled him into a hug and chuckled "wow it looks like you've been throught hell and back eddie" you said pulling away and smiling at him. "Ya it felt like it... I missed you m/n" he said moving his hand to your face.
You paused. This was it this was the chance and you where gonna fucking take it. "Eddie I wanted to tell you this for so damn long, and if I knew you wouldn't make it I would have told you already" as you said that Eddie's expression changed and he look abit more serious. You look a deep breath.
"I love you eddie, more than a friend, more than anything". Eddie's expression changed and a blushed creeped on his face. Before you could say another thing he kissed you. A soft and gentle kiss. You pushed him away blushing like crazy. "Eddie dammit we're outside!" Eddie grind and looked around "I don't see anyone" he pecked your lips again before traping you in another hug.
"I love you too m/n I have for a while" after you heard those words you couldn't help but smile and tighten the hug. You finally did start crying. Both hugging each other you cried in peaceful silence. The mystery was finally solved. Both of you where alive and you both found each other again.

The Modern Persephone
Corey Cunningham x gn!Reader
With Michael gone you're ready to start your new life. But you refuse to do it alone. This takes place right after the end of Ends and Reader is essentially a gender neutral Allyson, everything that happened in the movie more or less happened to Reader.
Warnings - angst, animal death, semi-graphic descriptions of corpses and guts
4,380 words
@rebel-blue @nachtmahr666 @vanellygal
You sit in the hospital cafeteria and sip a coffee. You haven’t slept in days, the dark circles under your eyes steadily spreading. If you don’t sleep soon they might engulf your whole face. You know you reek too, you haven’t showered and you’ve almost finished the pack of cigarettes you found in the pocket of Corey’s leather jacket, even tho you’d never smoked before Monday. None of that matters to you though. There’s something much more important on your mind.
You check your phone. She’s late. You bounce your leg anxiously and scan the room for her. Finally you see her striding towards you.
“Oh my god,” she says when she sees you, voice full of concern. “I almost didn’t recognize you.”
You let out a dry little laugh. “I barely recognize myself.”
“I heard what happened to Corey Cunningham. You guys were dating? I’m really sorry for your loss.”
“Thanks. That’s actually why I wanted to meet you. I know you can find out what’s happening with his body.”
The woman sitting across from you is Emily, a friend you’d made in nursing school. When you met she was already a nurse, but studying to be a pathologist, and had been the TA for your anatomy class. You had asked her a lot of questions over coffee during that semester, trying to be a good student, and a bond had formed between you in the process. You don’t hang out much, but she’s one of the only people in Haddonfield you trust. Now she works for the county morgue, where you know they took Corey’s body after the events on Halloween.
“His body?” She asks, surprised.
“Yeah. His parents are dead and he wasn’t in contact with any other family members. I know I don’t have any legal standing, we weren’t dating very long before he died, but I should be his next of kin and I want to decide what happens to his body.”
“If you have no legal standing to claim his body and they can’t get in contact with someone who does, the county will probably just cremate him on the cheap and scatter his ashes in the Illinois River.”
“No!” You exclaim, sounding more forceful than you meant to. “He wouldn’t have wanted to be cremated, I know he wouldn’t.” You say more calmly.
It’s not true. You have no idea what Corey would have wanted. But you know what you want, and you need his body to be fully intact. You pray they didn’t autopsy him.
“Well, I can do some digging for you, but if he’s scheduled for cremation already there’s probably nothing we can do.”
“Thank you, Emily.”
“Are you gonna be okay? You can call me if you need anything. I know you’ve been through a lot and this whole thing is terrible. I’m here if you need me.” She does look genuinely sad and concerned about you. It breaks through the shell you’ve been wearing the past few days, and you feel a single tear run down your face. “I gotta go, I only had a couple minutes free, but I’ll let you know as soon as I can,” she says as she stands up from the table.
You watch her walk away. Then you pound back what’s left of your coffee and go home.
Home isn’t really home right now. You’re staying with Lindsey. You can’t bear to be in your grandmother’s house with that big dark stain where Corey bled. You know exactly why the Allens abandoned their house after Jeremy died, haunted by the trauma they endured, and constantly reminded by that unholy discoloration on the foyer floor.
In the parking lot you pull his cigarettes out of the pocket of his jacket. You’ve scarcely taken it off since you put it on to go meet him on Halloween. Wearing his jacket feels like he’s still with you, just a little bit, and smoking his cigarettes does too. But to your dismay, there’s only two left in the box, and you can’t smoke the last one, it’s his lucky. You put them back in your pocket for now.
When you get to Lindsey’s house, you write her a note. You don’t think you’ll still be here when she gets home, but you feel bad leaving without saying goodbye. You’ve already said all your other goodbyes, meeting your grandma earlier in the day. Lindsey’s the only one left. You appreciate her letting you stay, and giving you full access to everything in her house. You stick the note to her fridge with a magnet. Then you go gather some sticks from outside. You tie them together with string, breaking them to the right length and crossing them over each other so they look vaguely like a person.
Your phone rings. Emily.
“That was fast,” You say instead of Hello.
“He’s scheduled for cremation tomorrow. If you want to see him, you can come to the morgue right now, but you gotta be quick, I’m only alone down here for a little while. As far as preventing the county from going through with the cremation, there’s paperwork you can fill out, but I don’t know if you’ll be able to file it in time to stop them.”
“Okay, I’m coming. I’ll see you in a couple minutes.” You hang up, jump in your car, and speed towards the morgue.
When you get there, the receptionist tries to make you sign in as a visitor. You’re tempted to give a fake name but she asks for your ID. You really didn’t want there to be a record of you being here. You pat your pockets stupidly and tell her you think you left your wallet in the car. You walk back outside and call Emily.
She tells you to come to the back and she’ll let you in the service entrance. It makes her nervous to do so but she can understand, the way this town talks, not wanting your name on the morgue sign in sheet. You drive your car to the back of the building and park with your back end facing the door. Emily ushers you in, down some long hallways, and finally to the room with all the drawers for bodies. It looks exactly how it does on tv, you think.
She leads you to a specific drawer.
“Are you sure you’re ready to see him?” She asks, eyebrows knit together in concern.
“I was there when he died, I can handle seeing him dead.”
“A fresh body is different from one that’s been in storage for several days. He won’t quite look like… himself.”
“I’m ready. Show me.”
Emily purses her lips like she doesn’t believe you, but she unlatches the door and pulls the drawer out.
She was right, you weren’t ready. Your vision tunnels and you’re losing your balance. You think you feel yourself wailing, but you don’t hear any sound. Emily runs around the drawer to catch you as your knees give out. She locks you in her arms and you sob into her chest.
“Shhh. I’m so sorry,” she says soothingly.  “I can push the drawer back in while you face away”
“No. I have to see him.” You pull away from her and wipe your tears. Then you brace yourself and turn back to his body.
Corey, this thing that used to be Corey, lays flat on his back, eyes wide open, looking straight up. His curly hair is splayed out limply around his head. His beautiful pink lips are ashen and deflated. The holes where he was stabbed and shot are clean and bloodless, but they gape wide open with ragged edges and you can see inside his body. As a nurse and as a survivor of so much violence, the wounds wouldn’t bother you if they were fresh and flowing with hot, red blood. But seeing them like this turns your stomach.
Despite your nausea, you lean down and look at him more closely. Thankfully he hasn’t been autopsied or embalmed. You take his face between your hands and his head lolls wrongly on his broken neck. You plant a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose.
“Help me get him out of here,” you say.
“What!?”
“If I can’t file the paperwork to have his body released to me in time, I’m just going to take him. I have blankets in my car we can wrap him in.”
Emily sighs your name. “That’s not a good idea. What are you going to do with him?”
“I’m gonna bring him back,” you say, finally looking up from his face.
“You what?” She replies, eyes wide.
“I’m gonna bring him back! I’ve been doing research on how. I think I have it figured out. Listening to Willy the Kid spew all his bullshit about how Corey and Michael were the tools of some evil cult… it got me thinking. I know they weren’t, I know there’s no cult, but what if the kind of magic he was talking about is real. Lindsey’s gotten into witchcraft since she survived. Everyone knows she reads tarot, but that’s not all she does. I’ve been staying with her. She has all these books I’ve been reading.”
“You’re not making sense,” Emily says. “You’re grieving, you lost your parents, and your boyfriend, and now you’ve lost another boyfriend, and you helped kill a man. You’ve been through so much, I understand this coping mechanism but -”
“You’re not listening to me!” you hiss, cutting her off. “I killed a frog. I trapped it in Lindsey’s garden and I stabbed a knife straight through it. Then I combined some of the spells and techniques I’d been reading about. And the frog came back. It hopped away like nothing happened.”
Emily says your name quietly. “Please, listen to yourself,” she begs. “You’re not okay.”
“You don’t have to believe me! You don’t have to help me! Just stay out of my fucking way!” You wrap your arms around Corey’s shoulders, cradling his ragdoll head, and try to pull him out of the drawer.
“Stop! Stop stop stop,” Emily cries, pulling your arms from around him. She restrains you for a moment, then she sighs and releases you. “I’ll help you take him. Let’s go get the blankets from your car.”
The two of you sprint down the hallways. She props the door open while you get a big bundle of blankets out of your backseat. Then you run back to the room where Corey still lays in his half open drawer. You drape the blankets over an autopsy table and roll it to him. Emily shows you how she was taught to move bodies by herself, gently sliding him onto the table. Then you tuck and fold the blankets around his body, almost like swaddling a baby.
Emily pushes the autopsy table back down the hallways and out the back door. You practice the technique she showed you to move his body from the autopsy table to your backseat by yourself. It’s more difficult than she made it look, but hopefully you’ll only have to do it a couple times.
“I can’t thank you enough,” you say, closing your car door.
“No, you can’t,” she says, and laughs a little. “I don’t know what the fuck I’m gonna tell my boss.”
“I’m sorry I put you in that position,” you say. “I’m confident you’ll think of something believable.” You reach out and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Good luck with your reanimation.” She says it like she means it but her face looks more like she’s telling you not to touch a hot stove.
You smile despite her concern. Then you get in your car and drive away.
You only go a couple miles before pulling into a gas station. You take your person-shaped bundle of sticks out of the glove box. When you put your hand on Emily’s shoulder, you’d plucked one of her long, golden hairs off her shirt. You tie it onto the bundle of sticks, and then you unspool most of a roll of medical tape, wrapping it around the poppet you made and chanting.
“I bind you, Emily. From telling anyone that I took Corey’s body. From telling anyone what I said about bringing him back. I bind you from trying to contact me, or Lindsey, or Grandma.” You repeat it over and over, focusing hard, imagining her trying to tell someone what happened, but red ropes coming from nowhere and wrapping her up so she can’t. You feel sort of bad doing it, but it’s what needs to be done to protect you and Corey in your new lives.
Then you go into the store and buy as many bags of ice as you can carry at once. You pile them in the backseat on top of Corey’s body. You move the car to a pump and fill up. With a full tank of gas, you leave the station and just drive.
You don’t know where you’re going. You and Corey hadn’t gotten the chance to talk about where you’d go to start your new life together. But it doesn’t matter that much. Right now you just need to get distance between you and Haddonfield. Once he’s back you can iron out all the other details.
You keep the heat turned down kind of low even when your knuckles get stiff and painful inside your gloves. You have to prolong the life of the ice as much as you can. When you come to a crossroads in an empty little midwestern nowhere, you toss the poppet you made of Emily out the window. Goodbye, friend. Thank you for everything.
When you notice yourself starting to drift off to sleep, and in turn, off the road, you take an exit that advertises a super 8, and get a room. It pains you deeply but you leave Corey in the car while you take a shower and sleep for a little over an hour. You really needed the rest, and you had to wait until there would be fewer witnesses.
When you wake it’s early morning, the sky mostly inky blue but already purple-gray on the edges. You go out to the car and gather up all the ice. The bags leak a little, but the cold outside has persevered most of it. You dump a little less than half of it into the bathtub. Then you go back outside to get him. The distance between your car and the door to your room is as short as it could be, but still longer than you had to carry him at the morgue. He’s not that much bigger than you, but he feels enormous in your exhausted arms as you fight to get him across the threshold.
As soon as the door is closed you collapse, dropping Corey on top of you. You break down crying.
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry we didn’t leave sooner. I should’ve listened to you, I should’ve left work to come to you. You were right, I didn’t have enough bandages to keep you together. I’m sorry I didn’t. But I do now. We’re out of Haddonfield and everything’s going to be okay.” You ramble to the bundle of blankets pinning you to the floor. Stroking where you think his cheeks are underneath.
You pull yourself out from under him, unwrap him from the bundle of blankets and, mustering every ounce of strength you have left, you get him off the floor and into the bathtub. You pour the rest of the ice over him. You want to get started, right now, but after you’d brought the frog back you’d been so hungry and tired from the amount of effort it took. You know you won’t be successful with Corey if you’re not better rested, and he deserves you at your best. So you go back into the bedroom and sleep again.
This time when you wake, it’s been far longer than an hour. You don’t know what time it is, you’ve had your phone turned off since you went into the morgue, and you don’t want to turn it on until your ritual is complete. It’s dark outside again, fully dark, but brightly illuminated by the full moon. You didn’t time it to the moon on purpose, but it feels like an incredible omen that it’s full tonight of all nights. You walk across the street to a brightly glowing Denny’s and order a massive spread to go. Pancakes, grits, eggs, bacon and sausage, French fries, burgers, slices of pie, coffee and soda and tea.
You nibble on some of it, eating an okay sized meal, but you leave most of it alone. Corey will probably be hungry when he gets back and you want to be sure you’ll have something he’ll want to eat.
It’s finally time. You sit on your knees beside the bathtub, everything you need around you. You light the last cigarette besides the lucky one and take a deep drag. You know Corey, who had been through so much shit, took great stock in turning one cigarette filter down in every new pack, and waiting to smoke it until all the others were gone. He didn’t believe it really did anything lucky, but opening the pack and seeing it there soothed him somehow. You’re saving it for when he gets back.
First, you open a little jar of a potion you made out of things from Lindsey’s kitchen. It’s olive oil based, but it has a texture like butter from being in the cold car. You scoop some up in your fingers and smear it into his wounds. The way they look still makes you feel sick, but you power through the waves of disgust to pack them full of the potion.
The frog story you told Emily wasn’t the whole truth. You’d killed three frogs. The first one you couldn’t bring back. It twitched like it was considering it, but ultimately decided not to. The second one you brought back easily, but you didn’t do anything about the stab wound you inflicted on it, and as it hopped away, its guts fell out and it died again. The third frog you’d given this potion and sutured its wounds closed. It came back to life more easily than the other two and survived the night. You’d seen it the next morning, wounds already almost fully healed, seemingly exactly the same as before you’d trapped it.
You tell yourself Corey will be just like the third frog as you open a fresh suture needle and sew his wounds closed. After his neck and his shoulder are taken care of, you check his left hand, knowing his stitches had been torn out and he’d started showing signs of infection. It’s the worst looking wound by far and you have to fight your reflexes hard to even touch it. But you do what needs to be done. You give him a shot  of antibiotics from a bottle you stole from work. You want it to start circulating the second his heart starts beating again.
Now is the moment of truth. You close your eyes and put your hands on him. You recite the spell you wrote, cobbled together from fragments from Lindsey’s books. You imagine Corey’s spirit, existing somewhere in the dark. While your mouth moves, repeating the words over and over again, you imagine your consciousness going to find him.
In your head, you walk through a black void. The echo of your footsteps is the only sensory input. Where are you, Corey? Then you see him. Standing in front of you, back turned. You move to stand next to him and take his hand. He looks at you with his big brown eyes and smiles.
“Come with me,” you say and take a step forward. Corey stands still. You step backwards to stand next to him again. “Corey, come with me.”
You fight to stay calm as you try repeatedly to get him to come with you. He smiles at you sweetly but refuses to follow you, standing there with his hand limply in yours until you walk so far ahead of him he slips out of your grasp.
“Come with me!  Come with me, Corey, please!” You beg him, tugging on his arm. Tears stream down your real life face from under your closed eyelids, your physical mouth still chanting your spell. “Everything will be okay, you just have to come with me!” He doesn’t budge.
You open your eyes. There he is in the tub, surrounded by more water than ice as it melts slowly in the heat of the hotel room. Still just as dead. You shove your fist in your mouth and scream around it. Then you center yourself the best you can. Taking deep, shuddering breaths. You sit on the edge of the tub instead of on the ground beside it, and put your hands on his face instead of his chest. You don’t know if this matters. The frogs were so small you could just cup them in your hands. You close your eyes and start chanting again.
Just as before, you see Corey from behind. But this time he turns around to face you before you’re next to him. “Hey,” he says.
“Hey!” You launch yourself into his arms. He catches you in a hug and laughs. “Come with me!” You say excitedly.  You feel him stirring in your real hands. “Everything will be okay if you just come with me.”
Suddenly his cheeks feel warm. You open your eyes, but don’t stop chanting until his eyes flutter closed, then open again.
“Corey?” You say.
He tries to say your name but all that comes out is a gurgling sound. You don’t know if it’s from the stab wound in his neck or the fact that his vocal cords have been sitting dry and unused for almost a week now.
“Don’t speak! It’s okay.” You lean down and put your ear to his chest. You hear his heart beating extremely faintly. He shivers in the ice water. “Are you cold?” You ask. He groans.
You help him stand in the tub. His head rolls to one side, his neck healing, but still kind of broken. You dry him off and wrap him up in blankets. You should’ve brought something for him to wear, but it didn’t occur to you that he would be naked when you got him from the morgue. You keep one towel dry, and roll it up to use like a neck brace, sitting Corey upright in the bed and tucking the towel around him to keep his head upright while his body goes through the accelerated healing process brought on by the magic.
You hover over him, watching nervously. You’re scared that the spell will wear off somehow, that you should have practiced on something bigger than a frog first. Or dead longer. You feel as fragile as he looks, extremely spent from the power required by the spell. But his color slowly improves, going from gray to pink with the sky outside as the sun rises.
You ask if he’s hungry and present him with the feast you got at Denny’s. He eats it ravenously, sampling everything. He seems much better after that. Better enough to try talking again.
“What happened?” He asks, his voice a barely intelligible rasp.
“You died on Halloween. I watched the light leave your eyes. But I wasn’t going to start our new life without you,” you say. “I brought you back.”
“How?” He croaks.
“I know it sounds crazy, but I learned a spell. I don’t really understand how it works. But I found you and led you back to your body.”
“You still want me? I killed so many people.”
“No, Corey, Michael killed those people,” you say in a soothing tone. You smooth his hair. He starts to protest but you talk over him. “Michael killed those people. But my grandma and I killed Michael..”
Corey’s eyes widen. “Are you sure he’s really dead?”
“We put him in the shredder at the shop. He’s gone forever.” You smile and squeeze Corey’s hand. “With him gone, grandma let me go. We’re free now.”
You reach into your pocket and pull out the battered box of Marlboro Reds,  flipping it open to show him the inside. “I'm sorry, I smoked most of the cigarettes you left behind. But I saved you your lucky one. I knew it had to be the first one for when you came back.”
Corey reaches out and takes it from the box. You flick the lighter and hold it out to him. He leans forward and lights the cigarette. Watching him smoke it you can’t help but smile. Everything has been so hard for so long, but the cherry at the end of that cigarette looks like the light at the end of the tunnel.
Corey sleeps. You know he probably needs the rest to heal, to be all the way back. But it scares you. What if he doesn’t wake up? You drift off beside him but jerk awake to check on him over and over again.
The only place you can get him clothes nearby is a Tractor Supply Co but that’s good enough. You leave him in the hotel bed and race around the store. When you unlock the door to the room you’re so certain he’ll be dead again in there. But he isn’t. He’s still as you left him, watching the ancient TV set.
As Corey dresses in the clothes you bought him, and you clean up the room he gets a sensation like someone is watching him, but it’s different from the way that usually feels. It’s almost like the person watching him is inside him. Using his eyes to monitor where he is. He looks in the mirror. That’s him, looking back, but something about him isn’t right. He chalks it up to being reanimated. But he can’t help but wonder. If you could bring him back…  How can it be true that Michael is gone forever?
Corey feels a strong, almost instinctive urge to cover his face.

wot reread: knife of dreams (prologue - chap 11)
spoilers through knife of dreams
1. The opening quote “the sweetness of victory and the bitterness of defeat are alike a knife of dreams” reminds me of an earlier quote “the only thing sadder than a battle won is a battle lost”. It’s definitely a less annoying ‘omg why are you warning us that nothing will happen in this book’ quote than CoT’s was, tho pretty depressing. Still, I don’t dislike being reminded of the pointlessness of war tho.
2. Checking in with Galad! It’s been literal books. Galad notes that his and his companions’ new ranks were won by fighting the Seanchan but now the Whitecloaks have allied with them. Yeah, it’s a disease that’s going around the whole continent. Galad is going to confront the current heads of the Children of the Light on personal business. I really do think maybe Jordan should have made the Seanchan maybe SLIGHTLY LESS like the Shadow so that it doesn’t feel so much like everyone is losing by winning when they chose to ally with them. In order to defeat the Shadow, they are inviting slavery into their homes, and that is going to damage the next age so badly.
3. Galad calls for a Trial Beneath The Light (trial by combat) against Valda for the abuse (and also he believes the murder) of his mother, Morgase. He found out about what happened from Dain (who heard rumors) and Byer (who could confirm it). I really like this whole scene. It feels emotional and personal and yet because Galad is Galad, he is also making certain to do everything legally and ‘by the book’, so his personality holds true as well.
4. Trial by combat is such a silly way to decide if someone is guilty or innocent of a crime but Galad works with what he’s been given and he KNOWS that Valda is guilty as well as knowing that he himself is a great fighter, so I’m good in going with it. We all know Valda wouldn’t sit still for a real trial. As it is, Valda takes the moment that he and Galad have to talk quietly before the fight to taunt Galad about raping his mother and hoping to get to do it again in the future.
5. Galad learned the flame&void from Gareth and Henre (both people he trained with in Caemlyn, before he went to the White Tower, and embraces the void now. Ooo, yeah, the way he’s described feeling here DOES sound very similar to how Rand feels when he’s in the void and the extreme awareness around him that we kinda associate with channeling. I’ve decided I like the headcanon that Galad is a channeling learner. He IS Rand’s half-brother after all. Also like Rand, Galad is absolutely willing to sacrifice his own life to reach his goal.
6. “Valda’s death was not enough. Nothing except Morgase Trakand alive again could be enough.” Oh, sweetheart. This family, torn apart by the stresses of the winds of change as they have been, do love each other so much when push comes to shove and their backs are against the wall (and once Elayne had matured a bit to get over her resentment of Galad).
7. “Will you write releases for the Children who don’t want to help the Seanchan take our lands in the name of man dead more than a thousand years? What about the men who defended the Fortress of Light? Will any release get their chains struck off or make the Seanchan stop working them like animals?” You tell them, Galad! It is such a RELIEF to read someone saying this after Mat’s terrible storyline in CoT. Galad gets a gold star. Also, acknowledgement that it SUCKS under Seanchan rule even for people who aren’t female channelers!
8. We also get official acknowledgement here that the raven is the symbol of both the Shadow and the Seanchan Imperial family, and Galad and his companions use that in order to turn the Whitecloaks away from Aes Sedai hunting and towards the notion that they need to fight on the side of Light for the Last Battle. I have been waiting and waiting for SOMEONE in book to point out at least one of the Shadow/Seanchan similarities because they have been haunting me for BOOKS.
9. “He had to go. It was the right thing to do.” So we officially knock down the first of the standing figures of our ‘what do you do after you end up picking the crowd that would choose to hurt your loved ones?’ parallel (Galad, Gawyn, and Mat are our three contestants) - Galad goes for removing the head of the organization that would hurt the people he loves and subverting its previously evil/misguided purpose into a good purpose. Well done! A+ to Galad. Sadly, since our other two Evil/Misguided Organizations are headed by women and Jordan has a hard time killing women, I don’t think we’ll see Elaida and Tuon get dealt with the same way. Galad shows more genuine leadership in this one scene than Perrin has shown in all his books as “Lord of the Two Rivers”. And he’s nervous about the idea of being seen as a leader too but he doesn’t marry that with mentally insulting the people following him. He doesn’t think less of THEM for wanting to follow him, whereas it feels like Perrin is constantly judging the people who march under his banner.
(and now we have to see if Galad actually successfully follows through on his intentions here)
10. Okay, we are done gushing over Galad (perhaps excessive but, as I said, it’s just such a relief to be reading about characters who are still fighting back against the invasion of their homeland. but apologies to @markantonys - I know he is the Lesser Brother for you, lol). Moving on to Iturale! We can see if his efforts last book bore fruit. His plan was to ally with the Dragonsworn to keep the Seanchan out of Arad Doman. Haha he’s judging the lax discipline of whatever Seanchan commander is in charge of the town/armed camp that he’s spying on right now. This camp is basically a supply camp for the Seanchan expansion and his plan is to take it out. He draws out the main guards and the sul’dam/damane pair with a feinted attack and then takes them out with a ranged attack from a different direction. It is, again, such a relief to be reading about characters who are fighting back against the invasion of their home. And now that the guards are taken care of, he burns down the fucking supply camp for the Seanchan settlers. SUCH a relief to read about people fighting back against the slaver invasion. Cheers to Ituralde. Please continue to make Arad Doman a bulwark to hold against the Seanchan invasion. He has several more bands that are supposed to be conducting similar attacks across the Seanchan forces in Tarabon.
(I really do wish so much that we’d actually gotten to see MAT doing general’ing like this. Sticking Mat in Ebou Dar feels like we got robbed of so much potential plot that was actually related to the ‘power’ that Jordan gave him (the ancient memories that he literally almost DIED to get), just like Perrin keeps getting stuck in plots where wolves and dreaming are barely relevant. Why would you give characters neat magical powers and then barely have the characters USE their powers?)
11. Now we swap sides and are checking in with Suroth. Jordan finally notes openly again that Suroth is a Darkfriend, after coyly avoiding the subject for books (she was the Darkfriend working with Liandrin in TGH). She’s fretting over Tuon’s disappearance, the rebellion of the Atha’an Miere, and the disappearance of Renna and Seta. If Tuon is dead, Suroth knows that she will be horribly punished for it, even if it’s decided that she wasn’t responsible.
12. Liandrin killed Alwhin because Suroth mentioned off-hand that she was annoying to deal with. Suroth notes how easy it is to forget the presence of da’covale and think of yourself as alone when you’re ‘only’ in the presence of slaves, so she had not guarded her tongue around Liandrin properly. Suroth orders Liandrin to go and have herself beaten by one of her other slaves for the crimes of: delaying giving Suroth a message, calling herself “I” rather than “Liandrin”, daring to meet Suroth’s gaze, daring to question Suroth’s orders, and simply because it pleases Suroth to have her beaten. Amazing how Suroth is actually at her most distasteful when she’s being a Seanchan High Blood rather than when she’s being a Darkfriend.
13. Suroth & everyone else believes that Tylin was killed using the One Power, and Beslan is the new King of Altara. Suroth is annoyed that his servants only offer bows instead of deep prostration. The news that Liandrin had awakened her to receive from one of her generals is about Iturale’s attacks on the camps in Tarabon. 😘😘😘
14. SEVEN major supply camps have been overrun and burned and TWO DOZEN smaller supply camps as well. TWENTY supply caravans have been burned. SEVENTEEN outposts have been wiped out. ELEVEN patrols have vanished. And he’s expecting more reports to come in about others as well. Ituralde, you ANGEL. 😘😘😘😘 Every place was left with the same message by Ituralde’s people (who did their best to avoid civilian casualities) -- Leave Tarabon. 😘😘😘😘
15. We also learn here, off-hand, that there are seven thousand Whitecloak “deserters” - that’s Galad’s work, I bet! 😘 Suroth is in a rage and orders that Ituralde be hunted down by every available force. Honestly, if only Rand had known this was happening. Then HE could have pincered the Seanchan from the east while Ituralde was working from the north, instead of trying to make a truce with the slavers. Anyway, Suroth is considering enslaving all the ‘loyal’ Whitecloaks out of revenge for the desertion of the others. Because it’s so good under Seanchan rule! Suroth’s misery here brings me such joy.
16. Anyway, she now gets a visit from Semirhage. She asks Suroth if she’d like to be Empress. Because she’s Seanchan before she’s a Darkfriend, Suroth cringes at the idea of defying the ‘true’ Empress in such a way. Semirhage breaks the news that she messily murdered the Empress over in Seanchan. Suroth begins crying over the death of the Empress, which baffles Semirhage. Anyway, Semirhage corrects Suroth’s assumption that it was one of Tuon’s siblings that offed the Empress and lets her know that all the rest of the Imperial family is dead too, and half the Imperial Court. Tuon is now the only living member of the Imperial family. Fifty nobles are now contending for the throne and the Empire itself has fallen into pieces (like Artur Hawkwing’s did after he died).
17. It takes Suroth a little bit of time to get over the idea of anyone but a member of the Imperial family killing another member of the Imperial family but she eventually accepts the idea and agrees to kill Tuon so that she can become Empress herself.
18. We switch gears over to Pevara in the White Tower. Honestly every section in the prologue has been a banger so far (and every one better than Mat & Perrin’s storylines in CoT). Actually having characters who care about resisting slavery and the invasion of their home is invigorating. I think I’m going to be disappointed when we drop back into the ‘main’ plotlines, where collaboration is the name of the game lol.
19. We are in a meeting of the Red Ajah and they are talking about the fallout from Dumai’s Wells. The new Highest (they all believe Galina, previous Highest, is dead - which Pevara is relieved about, as Galina was one of the people that Talene knew was also Black Ajah) has received a message from Sashalle, one of Rand’s oathsworn sisters, though since she was one of the ones stilled, her oath to Rand isn’t backed up by the Oath against lying, who writes that she is in charge of most of the sisters in Cairhien. Sashalle blamed everything that happened at Dumai’s Wells firmly on Elaida and she also wrote of the visit of Logain and his Asha’man to the city and confirms that Logain has been Healed of being gentled. She also writes to let them know that she has been healed of being stilled and has sworn an oath to follow the Dragon Reborn until the Last Battle has been fought and, after that, she will submit herself to the White Tower once more. Due to everything they learned here, plus everything else that has happened recently (the huge burst of Power that they believe must have been the Forsaken), they receive permission to go forward with the plan to reach out to the Asha’man to bond them as Warders.
20. After that, Pevara meets with Yukiri on the Black Ajah Hunt business. They are currently feeling like they are at an impass. They were able to discover another Heart of Black Ajah, but the other members are all out of the Tower, possibly with the rebels and they don’t have any new leads. Basically, the Heart structure of the Black Ajah is working as designed to minimize exposure. They also learn from Seaine that what Elaida had ACTUALLY wanted them to hunt out was evidence that Alviarin was in communication with the Dragon Reborn, so their idea of going to the Amrylin Seat gets snuffed out. They can no longer trust that she is not Black Ajah herself.
21. We shift focus to Alviarin, She has learned that Talene disappeared (and thus will not be appearing before the Supreme Council) and suspects this must mean that Talene has been discovered or defected. She suspects Yukiri and Doesine as the ones who discovered the truth about Talene and orders them watched.
22. Ugh, Shaido subplot. Absolutely not. Anyway, Galina is captured by Gaul & Neald and brought to Perrin. He asks her to take a message to Faile and then has them drop her back off near the Shaido encampment. So here is something that I wonder - I wonder if part of the reasons that we got both CoT/KoD and all the main plots felt pointlessly extended out was because there was TOO MUCH PLOT in the two prologues to fit in one book, plus time needed to pass for the prologues. Of course, my solution would have been different from Jordan’s lol.
23. Checking in with Egwene! She’s still in the middle of being taken back to the White Tower, waking up in the carriage on the way there. Egwene notes the mutual hostility between the members of different Ajahs and the stench of garbage in the streets of Tar Valon. Even though Egwene is certain she’s on her way to be executed, she’s determined not to let her captors see her be vulnerable. ...apparently, the ‘defense lawyer’ (Chair of Pardon) for the accused in the trials sometimes faces the same penalty as the actual accused. That is... really fucking weird. I’m gonna blame that one on that Black Ajah.
24. When she is delivered to the White Tower, Egwene is surprised to see Nicola there and somehow does NOT leap to the same conclusion that I did, which is that Nicola is obviously the one who betrayed her. Egwene is told that she’ll be birched and she decides that she will do her best to face it like an Aiel and embrace the pain. Nicola apologises for running away and calls Egwene ‘Mother’ before she rushes off. We learn that Leane was also caught and managed to do half of the south harbor entrance, limiting the size of the ships that can get through, at least.
25. Egwene is told that she’s not going to be executed: she’s going to be a novice again. She tells the Mistress of Novices that she is Aes Sedai due to be Amrylin Seat and won’t deny what she is. The plan with Egwene is to leave her dosed mildly with forkroot during the day and shielded at night and lots and lots of corporal punishment. Before she leaves, she tries to warn them about her Dream about the Seanchan attacking the White Tower and says that Leane can back up her being a Dreamer. There’s something I really do want to poke at about the different ways prophecies get used in this series, but I’m going to let it simmer in my brain for a while, I think.
26. Egwene is taken to a novice room for the night. As she goes to sleep, she slips into the in-between world and waits for Siuan’s dreaming light to appear so that she can drop a warning into her dreams. Now that she knows that Elaida isn’t planning to kill her, she’s coming up with new plans on how to continue her work from inside the Tower. “She did not consider herself a prisoner either. She was carrying the battle into the heart of the Tower itself. If she had lips there, she would have smiled.”
27. Over in the rebel encampment, everyone currently thinks that Egwene is dead, because her boat was found overturned, but Siuan has woken up with renewed hope, because Egwene spoke to her in her dreams. Siuan goes first to Egwene’s oathsworn sisters to tell them that Egwene and Leane are alive and captive in the Tower. Sheriam votes that they Travel down to the cells in the Tower and rescue Egwene and Leane immediately but Siuan tells them that’s not what Egwene wants. Lelaine shows up and tells Siuan to talk to her; Siuan relates Egwene’s instructions and adds that Egwene says that they are going to have a meeting of the Hall in the Hall of Servants in TAR the next night, which Lelaine approves of and finds amusing. Lelaine also tells Siuan that if Egwene is killed or stilled by Elaida, then she wants Siuan and Egwene’s people’s aid in becoming the next Amrylin herself.
28. Beonin is worrying about the mystery of the sisters getting murdered by someone using saidin. We learn quite a bit about Beonin here in her internal narration and it’s all fairly interesting and fleshes her out -- she respects and trust her Warder, she has keepsakes of her (now deceased) grandmother and mother to remember them and what she learned from them, and she’s genuinely ANGRY that the Tower managed to miss so many potential channelers with its old policy, She is astonished and amazed at how many more women there were out in the world who COULD become Aes Sedai and never had the chance.
29. As Beonin heads out on her mission, she sees a ghost like other people having been seeing, and she names it the Dark One’s touch on the world. She puts an illusion on herself and hides her ability to channel -- she plans to go talk to Elaida, so she asks her Warder to trust her and wait in the city for her.
30. Elaida kidnapped the former King of Illian and he is very mad about it. She tells him that he should be grateful that she got him out when she did, because the Dragon Reborn now rules Illian. I do think it’s interesting how the Illian dialect seems to be very similar to the way that the Old Tongue is structured. She tells him that she plans to restore him to the throne in Illian (though her original plan was just kidnapping the actual King; she didn’t know that Rand was going to take the throne).
31. Elaida actually IS trying to figure out how to mend the Tower, but she’s often so busy seeing what she wants to see that she doesn’t see what is actually there. She trusts so few people and has such a short temper. The whole Egwene vs Elaida conflict kinda does feel like it mirrors Rand’s internal conflict against the taint and his PTSD, as I think I mentioned... at the start of CoT? Or maybe during my WH re-read? Can’t remember when exactly. But with Egwene standing in for his inner core of self and Elaida representing the damage that the taint & his PTSD have done to that core. The Tower is split, just as Rand is split.
32. Beonin arrives, and she is here to tell all of Salidar and Egwene’s secrets to Elaida. Beonin has been working for Elaida this entire time, deliberately sent to the rebels to sow discord and try to keep them occupied (so Elaida considers her a fairly big failure, considering their current situation). She tells them that Egwene can enter TAR in her sleep and told the rebels not to rescue her. She shows Elaida and Tarna the weave for Traveling and the one for Skimming. She also gives them the names of the ten sisters who were sent back to the Tower to spread the stories about Logain and the Red Ajah.
33. Ah, the first Forsaken meeting since their big failure at the cleansing, I think this is. Moridin has summoned them. We are in Aran’gar’s PoV. Already present: Semirhage, Demandred, Mesaana, Graendal. They are meeting up in TAR. There are eleven chairs present, which Aran’gar finds puzzling, since Asmodean and Sammael are both surely dead, from what she believes. The place in TAR where they are meeting is a memory of Ansaline Gardens, which was destroyed in the third year of the War of Power. Ah, we learn that Aran’gar has been actively spying on Egwene’s dreams. And Aran’gar was able to spy on the Hall of Servants meeting that Egwene had in TAR.
34. Moridin shows up, with Moghedien and ‘Cyndane’ at his heels in their red-and-black livery. Moridin says that Sammael appears to have resurfaced, giving orders to a hundred Fades to bring thousands Trollocs into the Ways. Moridin also tells them that al’Thor belongs to him and none of the rest of them are allowed to hurt him. During the conversation, Aran’gar figures out that Moridin has Moghedien and Cyndane mindtrapped. In contrast to Rand, Moridin tells them to find Perrin and Mat, who they are welcome to kill. It looks like he’s using the same images of them that were used back during the Darkfriend Social in TGH, because it mentions rough country clothes, which neither of them wear these days. Perrin is “tall and wide, with yellow eyes” and Mat is “not quite slender” with a “cheeky grin”. This is the first time these Forsaken have known what Perrin and Mat looked like, it seems, and Semirhage notes that if she’d known earlier, they might already be dead. Aran’gar, however, still plans to kill Rand.
35. When last we checked in with Perrin, he was planning to sell his soul to the Seanchan to work out a deal to save Faile. Let’s see how that’s going!
...soul selling confirmed! Okay, let’s move on to Faile!
36. Faile, who still has her soul, is working on her own plans. Honestly, if Faile’s storyline weren’t surrounded by so much trash, I would probably like it. She herself is definitely getting the chance to shine, being brave but also willing to be patient. Honestly, at this point in the story, Faile deserves so much better than being married to Perrin. Anyway, she is determined to escape before Perrin gets himself killed in an attempt to rescue her.
37. Our first Mat chapter, so let’s do a theme & slavery check-in!
Characters who were previously strongly anti-slavery in WH:
Mat, Setalle Anan, Juilin, Noal, Teslyn, Joline, Edesina, Thom, Beslan
Characters who inexplicably softened their anti-slavery stance in CoT:
Mat (knows sul’dam secret)
Setalle Anan
Noal
Anti-Slavery characters who haven’t changed their stance as far as we know:
Juilin (gold star for Juilin tbh)
Teslyn (knows sul’dam secret)
Joline
Edesina
Thom
Characters who are focused really only on their own personal freedom and not anyone else’s:
Seta & Bethamin (slaves if the Truth Were Known)
Domon (wants to be free to marry Egeanin)
Characters who show signs of growth and change:
Egeanin (knows sul’dam secret)
These characters remain strongly pro-slavery:
Tuon (knows sul’dam secret)
Slaves:
Selucia, and the horde of Seanchan that are out looking for Tuon
Themes that were set up in Winter’s Heart:
the secret of the sul’dam
questioning the empire
the heir to the empire being a dormant marath’damane
These were completely ignored in all of Mat’s chapters except his very last one, in favor of Mat navel-gazing about his marriage prophecy and Tuon reminding us at every possible moment that she’s a slaver and an asshole. Honestly, it kinda feels like that last chapter of Mat’s in CoT is the only one that should have existed at all, because that’s the only one that actually dealt with anything that was set up in Winter’s Heart. And maybe his reaction to the cleansing could have been in a quick cut-scene along with Perrin’s and Elayne & Aviendha’s.
Anyway, let’s see if Knife of Dreams can do any better than CoT with Mat. I know it has a reputation of being better than CoT but... I don’t remember liking it better, especially in Mat’s storyline. But we’ll see!
38. I’m no longer keeping track of plot points that undermine Winter’s Heart, because it feels like we’ve already completely changed the intended story and Mat’s characterization at this point, so there’s no reason to bother. CoT!Mat seemed somewhat weak and self-serving (though he was obviously still uncomfortable with slavery, at least, but a far cry from his visceral disgust in WH) and came across as willing to look the other way while Tuon does her evil deeds. I desperately miss pre-CoT!Mat. Egeanin, Juilin & Amathera, and the three Aes Sedai are really the only people I find worth caring about in Mat’s storyline anymore. Maybe Thom. Oh! Auldra! She’s worth caring about.
39. Nothing worthy of note happens in chapter six.
40. Chapter seven:
Egeanin is officially going by Leilwin Shipless, the name that Mean Girls (tm) Selucia and Tuon gave her last book to be assholes to her. I will call her Leilwin née Egeanin for now, I think.
God, I really hate CoT/KoD!Mat, who is now pretty much the most toxic male character in the series who isn’t an actual Darkfriend*. Which sucks. Only two books ago, he was one of my favorite characters. But  almost any time CoT/KoD!Mat is in a scene with a female character, he’s being SUCH an asshole.
If I’m trying to maintain any kind of throughline between books 1-9!Mat and CoT/KoD!Mat, then I could speculate that he’s taking all his anger and frustration out on the Aes Sedai because he feels like he CAN’T take it out on Tuon, because he’s convinced himself that he is required to respect and trust Tuon as his future wife (no matter how little she deserves his respect or trust) or on any of the Seanchan characters, because they are under Tuon’s wing. But that still makes him a massive asshole, so. Yeah.
Anyway, Bethamin channeled and can’t deny it to herself anymore, so at least we are finally engaging with the themes that were brought up in Winter’s Heart. Teslyn just wants to let Bethamin die from channeling sickness and, tbh, can’t blame her for feeling that way. Bethamin was the sul’dam that was trying her hardest to break Teslyn back when she was a damane. Joline and Edesina insist that Bethamin must be taught so that she doesn’t die. Mat does think that this should put an end to worrying about the sul’dam trying to use the a’dam on the Aes Sedai.
I guess we also find out in this chapter that Rand is having sex with Min instead of doing anything useful like checking in on the Black Tower.
*okay, in fairness, he’s not as bad as Masema is or Valda was. But that’s a PRETTY LOW BAR.
41. Chapter eight:
Aludra has invented cannons (ish? fireworks ‘lofting tubes’ that can be aimed) that she has named ‘Dragons’ and even though Mat doesn’t show much spine when it comes to himself with Tuon, he does still understand that she’s the enemy, because when he tells Auldra that he knows the Dragon Reborn (grew up with him), he makes sure to tell her not to whisper a hint of it to the Seanchan. And Aludra is absolutely wanting to be aiming her Dragons at the Seanchan. I’m putting her on the list, on the side of the good guys. And Mat does make it clear that this point that his goal IS still to actually return to Rand’s armies and lands.
I really would have settled for Mat x Aludra. It never would have been a favorite pairing but it would have been so much better than Mat x Tuon.
Leilwin née Egeanin and Domon get married. This must mean she’s been able to work past the block in her mind that was still thinking of him as a slave, which indicates that some strong progress has been happening with her off-screen. Mat bafflingly assumes that Leilwin née Egeanin would take Domon’s last name when she married him. It’s so weird that this is an assumption by someone in the world of WoT; another of the subconscious influences from Jordan’s own RL culture, I suppose. Anyway, she didn’t.
Mat also does not betray to Tuon that he’s a friend of Rand’s when she tries to figure out if he knows the Dragon Reborn, so, again, he does still remember at this point that she’s the enemy. And Mat also realizes that (given what he knows about the political situation) he will probably have to fight Seanchan once he’s back with Rand and he doesn’t seem upset about it, so he hasn’t gone completely dark side on us. Mat also continues to be terrified that his own future wife will enslave him so. Yeah. Charming relationship. /sarcasm (Mat’s genuine worry and the fact that Tuon has the power to enslave people encapsulates why I cannot read any of Tuon’s threats as ‘flirting’; a slaver threatening to enslave someone is NOT flirting; someone who regularly abuses their power threatening to use their power against someone is NOT flirting)
42. chapter nine:
I do appreciate how much it feels like Leilwin née Egeanin is cutting her emotional ties with the Seanchan. I am glad that there actually was growth from the background characters in Mat’s storyline here, even if Tuon and Mat themselves are a waste of time.
Every passage that involves Tuon leaves me with that same gross “what a complete asshole” feeling that I always get from reading PoVs from Valda or from Darkfriends only she doesn’t even need to be a PoV character to make me feel like I’ve been coated in slime. Mat’s apologetics for her to do the trick. Honestly, marrying Mat off to Tuon really does feel like we married Egwene or Nynaeve off to Valda. It’s such a horrific fate.
Mat thinking of Tuon as “more beautiful than ever” during a moment when she is actively enslaving and torturing people is straight-up character assassination for our guy who used to be the person who cared the most about consent and freedom. Mat Cauthon is dead and it’s so depressing. At least he does go and bury the a’dam after this, but this chapter is a fucking horror show. It’s pretty much as disgusting as “Pink Ribbons” back in Winter’s Heart.
And Tuon does break her word to Mat here, no matter how she dances around it. But she’s a liar, a hypocrite, a torturer, and a slaver, so I’m not surprised by that. She also sounds desperate to believe that she can’t have anything in common with the animals that she looks down on. But, again, Jordan had his chance to actually do something with this storyline for her and chose not to, so Tuon will live and die a person who chooses to do evil things. Tuon says here that she can choose not to channel, just as she chooses not to steal or commit murder. She literally is in charge of an invasion force that is murdering countless people across the Westlands and also had two of her siblings assassinated back home iirc. She’s a thief, too, but it’s a spoiler what it is that she steals later on (I mean, apart from the countries and land that her people are stealing as well). But let it be known: she is a thief. She’s all three of the things that she claims here that she isn’t: she’s a murderer, a thief, and capable of channeling. Everything about Tuon’s storyline is so frustrating because she HAD the potential to be an interesting character in WH and the CoT&KoD just go “nope! she’s gonna be The Worst (TM) instead! and she’s gonna drag Mat down along with her!”
She’s also an incredibly whiny brat here, trying to win Mat’s sympathy over the ~mean ladies~ daring to try to ~talk~ to her and annoy her with their existence, acting just like the child that she keeps telling us that she isn’t, only a child with way too much power. Forget Mat; Olver is the character she should be betrothed to, based on how old she ACTS (she reminds me of Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory tbh, only Veruca was, what, like thirteen years old, I think?).
The thing is, I would be fine with Tuon being The Worst (TM) and acting like a thirteen year old entitled brat if Mat (and other characters like Setalle Anan, etc) actually stayed in character and they reacted to her being a brat? But Mat's whole weird thing where he just actively has decided that Slavery Is No Longer Worth Caring About On A Moral Level when that was NOT how he was behaving in WH is just... it makes this entire storyline so bad and out of character. It feels like the narrative (not Mat but the narrative around Mat) just isn’t willing to be honest about what kind of character that Tuon is being written as, and that is so frustrating. Again, it’s the same thing where Tylin was CLEARLY a rapist and yet whenever she and Mat parted ways, all of a sudden the narrative rushed in to reassure us that ACTUALLY Mat likes her just fine and he’s gonna miss her bunches.
Mat finally does admit to himself that Selucia is a slave and not a ladies’ maid. It does not appear to change anything in his behavior.
43. chapter ten:
The fact that Mat continues to ‘court’ Tuon after the horror of chapter nine is... depressing. pre-CoT!Mat truly is dead and gone. I miss Mat so much. I miss him even more in his own chapters than during other people’s. Heterosexuality makes you evil, I guess, is the lesson I feel like we can take from CoT & KoD. (I’m joking. Mostly). Tuon threatens to invade Tar Valon and make it her capital (which would involve enslaving hundreds of women as damane) and he just goes, “oh gosh what a tough little woman.” ??? YOUR SISTER is planning to train as Aes Sedai and you are AWARE of this. TUON WOULD EAGERLY ENSLAVE YOUR SISTER AND FORCE HER TO KISS THE GROUND IN FRONT OF HER FEET. And there is not a single exaggeration in that sentence! You literally just watched Tuon collar people who are JUST LIKE YOUR SISTER and talk about them like they’re not people! You know this isn’t an idle threat on her part! She literally DID it last chapter! Ugh. Jordan screwed up Mat’s character so badly in these two books. Like again, maybe this is supposed to be Mat so deeply in denial that he can’t even access his brain but it’s just... it’s just bad. Again, where is our Shadow Rising energy? Why is Mat a limp dishtowel when it comes to all Tuon-related things?
Leilwin née Egeanin’s character arc is continuing in the background and SHE is growing and changing as a person. She talks to Amathera to try to convince her that she doesn’t need to lower her eyes to anyone and tries to make it clear that she doesn’t see her as escaped property anymore but a person. Very reasonably, Juilin doesn’t trust this change of heart and remains protective of Amathera, who has been through a lot of shit.
Mat re: Juilin - “He disliked any Seanchan, for what they had done to Amathera.” And if you had an ounce of the empathy that Juilin does, you would feel the same. You DID feel the same, back in Winter’s Heart. Fuck, I miss Mat.
*sigh* Leilwin née Egeanin is still punching Domon in the ribs.
Mat reads Moiraine’s letter to Thom and agrees to save her from the Finn. Olver has magic knowledge from Birgitte about the Tower of Ghenjei. How convenient that Birgitte told him all these details. Anyway, handwave ta’veren, etc. Mat does finally tell someone about his encounter with the foxes & snakes -- Thom, Noal, & Olver.
44. Nothing worthy of note happens in chapter eleven.
45. Of the themes that were set up in Winter’s Heart:
the secret of the sul’dam
questioning the empire
the heir to the empire being a dormant marath’damane
We actually do start dealing with some of these themes with Bethamin! Mat is (sadly? hilariously?) basically a side character to the actual meaningful plotline here rather than being an integral part, because he’s way too focused on navel-gazing about his marriage prophecy. But Bethamin, Seta, Joline, Edesina, and Teslyn appear to be having a very interesting plot that is unfortunately mostly happening off-screen, with Mat and Tuon occasionally getting in the way and making things harder for them. And Egeanin is also continuing to question the empire as well, being willing to marry Domon, an idea she had previously struggled with because he was technically her slave and she’s coming to terms with treating Amathera like a person and not a slave as well. And Auldra is doing a sideplot where she is actually helping Rand’s armies. They all have more interesting stories than our actual PoV character has in these chapters.
Honestly, I can envision a much better version of Knife of Dreams where this circus plotline doesn’t involve Mat and Tuon at all. We’d just have a subplot with minor characters of seeing these three Aes Sedai helping the sul’dam break through their conditioning. Would have been roughly 1000000000x better than the plotline that we actually got.
It’s just MIND-BOGGLING that the ONLY purpose that we’ve had for Tuon being marath’damane so far is it enabling her to further abuse and torment the Aes Sedai, because it means she’s able to torture them personally instead of ordering Seta to do it. Was this really the reason that Jordan made her marath’damane - so that she could be an even more hands-on abuser?
Tuon being an asshole (in 60 pages on-screen):
calls Mat ‘Toy’ x39
Has definitely regained every inch of being an asshole High Lady Who Will Be Empress Someday. Circus plotline was pointless. Might as well have had her stay in Ebou Dar and just bought Mat from Tylin as da’covale, honestly. Her character ‘arc’ would be about the same.
There are dozens of minor moments that I’m not listing, but she’s basically an asshole every time she opens her mouth. Mat lets her get away with anything, because he no longer owns a spine, I guess.
She tortures and attempts to enslave some of Mat’s traveling companions because they dare to try to have a conversation with her about wanting a treaty.
She threatens to invade Tar Valon and make it her capital city.
Mat is mentioned by:
Perrin x2
Mat thinks about:
Rand x13
Loial x3
unnecessary scenes:
Perrin’s pointless sidequest (shaido): 1 (15 pages), 1 (14 pages), 1 (16 pages)
Side Character Romantic Drama: 1 (2 pages)
Mat’s pointless sidequest (tuon): 1 (16 pages), 1 (10 pages), 1 (19 pages), 1 (14 pages), 1 (13 pages), 1 (25 pages)

Linked Universe Encanto AU Because I may not make animatics anymore but that doesn’t mean my brain doesnt vividly produce the ideas for them. AU notes under the Cut >> Edit: Adjusted skin colors cause they looked really weird once I saw them not on my tablet
Main Thing!!
Is the Death haunting the family is Navi and Time is still the matriarch but is also still married to Malon. Malon is fine. Navi is the heavy death hanging over the joy of the family.
Dark Link is Bruno. This actually took me a surprising amount of time to realize.
Everyone’s powers are swapped around so they don’t match the character they portray/whose parts they sing. For instance Wild is the super strength/stamina character but doesn’t sing Luisa’s parts cause Twilight acts as the “responsible sibling” taking on too much.
Gifts!
Wild: Super strength/stamina etc
Warriors: Teleportation
Twilight: Animal communication
Sky: Weather
Time: Prophecy
Four: Shrink (he still acts as the gossip since he takes Dolores’ place-- think fly on the wall status)
Hyrule: Healing (NOT with food tho lmao boy is banned from the kitchen.)
Legend: Make objects/create stuff from nothing for whatever you need.
Wind: Because he’s not the same reinccarnation as everyone and his story is about starting again anew he takes Mirabel’s place as Powerless <3)
Dark Link: Shapeshifting :3c (Did he ever leave?)
Sky is engaged to Zelda but actually is head over heels. Time and Malon are married. Wild’s fiance Mipha died. Legend and Ravio are married. Four is still broken up because Shadow is stuck in the shadow realm.
I’d have drawn Twilight singing Surface Pressure but I ran out of room and my hand hurt >> uh.... I think that’s everything?

Hello could you tell me about Gabi please I saw your art of her and she looks super cute!!!
Ah yes my little disaster princess <3
She ah, she isn't actually a princess, but I just call her that sometimes because when she was little her mother would always carry her around places. She and her family are actually witches, but she's also their "little princess"...at least until it started to become apparent that she wouldn't end up as they hoped (got hit with the classic gifted kid burnout and whatnot 😔)
After she was left behind, she also went on to discard everything that connected her to her family save for this little lantern shaped light crystal and just wandered around on her own for a while
Tumblr media
Gabi mostly just survived by befriending a bunch of spirits, particularly The Lady that haunts and controls a small grocery store. After the whole thing with her family abandoning her, she kinda doesn't want to risk it with other people and just turned to random spirits she finds around the place.
Gabi is still a bit of a people pleaser too, and barely lets herself be known until much much later in the story, hence the way there's barely anything suggesting personality in her design compared to her old one when she was still young
I don't have much concrete stuff about her since I'm still developing the world and story she's set in tho, but she does end up encountering a nightmare spirit at a museum where she meets her soon to be bestie Dawn and they bond through getting trapped in a dream/nightmare dimension and going through life death situations trying to escape. But! the important part there is that there's found family to be found so there

Heyo so I say your severen birthday post and it got me thinking. So I went to Disney world for my birthday and I was thinking what if severen takes his mate and the gang to Disney 😭(at night of course) I can see Jess and sev eating a turkey leg and Caleb and Mae taking a romantic walk and diamond dragging homer to get photos 😭
I srsly love this I definitely don't watch Near Dark and think Disneyworld but it's so perfect bc they've lived so long you can't tell me they haven't been to an amusement park including disneyworld with how huge it is.
I bet ur b day was fun!!! I went to that place ONE time at 8 years old and it quite literally rained on my parade and some of the rides 🥲 It was thundering and cloudy during the wait for the haunted mansion which was my favorite so that was a neat memory tho. So if I'm rusty, srry I have vague memories there 😭
Severen Taking his S/O to Disneyworld
Tumblr media
- For one, they definitely did not have money to go in, not even 80's money. They probably couldn't steal enough or didn't care to so they snuck in somehow (Severen is old af and probably knows a secret entrance from when it was first built.)
- Severen found a micky mouse hat with ears and wore it just to be goofy
- Speaking of goofy...Severen and Jesse scare the actors in costume there. Severen definitely took a picture with you but whispered some terrifying shit in Goofy's ear just to watch him try to run in those shoes (He laughed his ass off too.)
- You are so right!! Severen and Jesse are eating the most basic, filling foods. He may sample your dole whip or funnel cake but he rarely eats this type of human food and he's making it worth it by eating a huge turkey leg.
- You all definitely cut in line...Do you think SEVEREN is going to stand for an hour or more for rides??? He is finding a way in probably from killing and drinking a staff member and getting their key cards to use backdoors.
- Jesse and DB venture off to Epcot just to leisurely stroll around sample different foods and listen to music and dance together...They still get odd looks and creep everyone out. A child definitely cried when Jesse stared them down for staring at him first.
- Caleb and Mae are hand in hand in line to go on the haunted mansion (It's just so they can makeout in the cars after Mae gets 'scared'. They rarely get alone time in the group.)
- Homer goes off adventuring by himself (He just doesn't want anyone see him actually enjoy peter pans flight like a kid.)
- You and Sev go on an adventure. He is high energy, playful, adventurous and eager to do things so expect for him to ask you where to go but if you say 'it's up to you'...He is dragging you everywhere 🤣
- Severen's favorite rides are actual Rollercoasters that have his adrenaline pumping (Imagine if he's never been on one? He'd love it!) the crazier the better and that nut job is laughing his ass off while your screaming...This man would love Tower of Terror or Rock n Rollercoaster or even more 'tame' rides like ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter if he got to see it before it closed
- He does enjoy more lowkey rides though like a ferris wheel or haunted mansion if it involves you cuddle up to him but please do not take him on its a small world he will complain the entire time and if he's got that damn song stuck in his head; he's blaming you ☠️
- Homer loves it bc even tho he wants to be perceived as an adult; this is the one place he goes and being a kid actually gets him better treatment than everyone else in the group.
- Mae loves talking to the princesses and Caleb loves the rides he rode as a kid before Sarah was even born like Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean
- DB loves the family time you all rarely get often going your seperate ways to feed everynight
- You all meet back up at least an hour before it closes to spend that 'family time' together.
- Severen or Jesse or both know the most unsettling deaths and secrets about the place and Severen points out "Oh some girl was crushed between those two walls" too casually. Severen acted like he was going to jump in the water on Jungle Cruise claiming there's actual alligators and when you told him "Nuh uh" he was going to prove it. You just about yanked him off his feet to sit back down
- Everyone argues over what the last 'family' attraction should be
- If it involves shooting and competition tho? Every single one of them from Jesse to Caleb is having a blast
- You probably convince them to go on splash mountain just for the picture at the end. Sadly someone had to sit out (Jesse or DB for sure) So in order: Jesse or DB in the back, Homer, You, Guess Who, Mae, Caleb 😭
Tumblr media
- You are so right DB is dragging Homer to take photos like the Mom she is 🥰
- You all stay to watch some fireworks but sneak back out halfway through before everyone else starts leaving
- The night is young and you all go get ACTUAL nourishment with blood but it's a fun time and you all have souvenirs from pics to merchandise
- Severen definitely won, stole or even bought you a cute niche character merch you love to keep for ur special day 💞

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susie: What's the scariest horror movie you've ever watched? Joey: IT. Henry: Annabelle. Sammy: Paranormal Activity. Fay: High School Musical. Tom: I bet they tucked themselves into the bed too tightly and got stuck. Norman: Maybe they fell into another dimension where they're more interesting…? Henry arrives Henry: Sorry I'm late - there was a problem at the bank. Allison, clapping their hands in excitement: HOT DAMN!
