Just had some random thoughts so pulled up an old blog I never used and am now deciding to write fics! I've had this stuck in my head for two days now but like- Skk as parents... enjoy <3
Wrote three sections! One with Chuuya, one with Dazai, and ofc them together. It can be read from either adopted or blood perspective, I hope? Kind of scattered, I was just goin for it guys
Iffff you liked this, please req something! I'm having major bsd brainrot and I need ideas...

The SILLIEST father EVER guys.
For actual years he was fully under the impression he HATED all kids with a passion. I mean guys look at how badly he treated Aku-
Well then he had you and things changed
It's just something about you being his kid, not a subordinate or random kid on the street
He's your dedicated apologist
In fact, he encourages your mischief!
When you were younger, it was a lot harder to handle you. He even found himself on his last fuse sometimes. Usually, he left Atsushi or Yosano to deal with you
He didn't want to revert to old habits and accidentally traumatize you :(
When he can handle himself, though, he's only halfway controlling you-
He's right along with you in the heinous activities half of the time
Hiding Ranpo's candy (for as long as it lasts), misplacing Kunikida's glasses, hell you two have probably snuck into the infirmary and changed the sheets to something very colorful and very childishly wolf themed...
He's not really a mature dad, nonono. But he's doing his best
He fully supports all of your wildest interests, even tries out some of the more entertaining ones
He struggles to act excited when you're younger and all your interests are very out of his range, but as you grow older he's actually a bit intrigued by them sometimes
Best birthday gift ideas, too. He's very creative when he wants to be.
He also has way more money than he should be ALLOWED to have
For your Sweet Sixteen, he most definitely got you an obsessively large custom pinata of your favorite character...
He makes sure EVERYBODY gets you gifts, because you are his world and thus you must be everybody else's as well
He really does try to keep you out of work, and especially away from his suicide biz
Maybe HE doesnt have a reason to live, but he certainly doesnt want you picking up those thoughts, because he knows you have a real big destiny to live up to someday
I mean, what would the world be without you?
When you hit the age of 13 though, its really hard to hide anything from you
You're so scary when you grow up! And you're way too smart!!4
Did you get that from him? oops...
Now, he doesnt have any plans of living that long, but if you do grow big and strong and smart one day, and you join the ADA, he's definitely got some favoritism.
Surprisingly, Fukuzawa actually gives you your first few proper missions with him
(Because he knows Dazai will not be letting any harm come to you, he trusts Dazai with his life and he knows you trust Dazai even more)
If you have different plans for adulthood though, he's still so supportive
If you go to uni, you're going to have to show him off
Why?
Because, guys, he's a dilf
Nobody's gonna be mean to the kid with a dilf father, they all want him
He jokes about it constantly
But rest assured, stupid and immature uni kids are NOT his type, no matter how nice the ones his age look
He's got his eyes set on that waitress and at least four other men at the moment
If you go straight into the workplace instead of uni, he's going to use his connections to get you a good job early!
Fukuzawa has a good way with words and Dazai himself is a pretty good reference contact
Just tell them he's your teacher, or something
It's not like they'll know his hobbies, he's wayyyy too big a mystery for that
Overall: 7/10 dad
A little rough around the edges, but he's trying hard to improve himself for you
And he's trying hard to give you the best life he can offer

└──────┘
Did I say Dazai was a dilf?
I lied out of my ass.
Chuuya is the real dilf here
But we'll get to that later! (Just know he has plenty of men and women at his feet and they're definitely being way too nice to you because they want him so bad guys)
You're SO SO SO SO spoiled.
UNREASONABLY so
So bad you might even be a little bit of a brat growing up
It's fine, not toward him, he almost never says no to you so theres no need
There's absolutely no amount of money that can't be spent on you.
Luxury clothes, professionally cooked dinners, fancy rooms, home staff, the whole works
Despite all that though, he's insistent you go to a public/private school
He's not tutoring you, wont even hire one
It's not because he CAN'T, it's because he KNOWS how important it is for you to get your sense of independence early
Sure, you'll always have financial support, even if he dies (Trust fund babyyyyy)
But thats not what's actually important to your future
You need social skills, you need friends, you need and education and the taste of disappointment
Dont worry, though, he's not sending you unprepared
You're not eating school lunches unless you want to (but fuck why would you?)
He's sending you to school with top notch food every day
And clothes
And supplies
Plus, you'll have a tutor at the ready for anything you need a little extra help in
But for the most part he keeps as far as he can out of that section of your life
You friends are yours, not his
He's polite when they have sleepovers, and he's more than willing to host parties and hangouts
But he doesn't try too hard to impress them, and he doesn't talk to them unless its related to you
Because as much as he loves being around kids (a real big father he wants to adopt everybody he sees)
He doesn't want to impose on any boundaries YOU may have
As a side note though, he's still very observant of your relationships with them
If he overhears any manipulation, or shit talking (about you or not), he's not going to let it sit and exist
If it comes to it, he will contact the parents (And holy fuck they are TERRIFIED i mean imagine a publicly known MAFIA EXECUTIVE contacting you to tell your kid fucked with his ABSOLUTELY NOT GUYS)
If you're into any extracurriculars, he is ALWAYS there
Even if he's overseas on a mission, he has some lower rank attend and clears his schedule so he can watch through a call
Also guys, he practically funds your school?
Your teachers are terrified to cross you because if they do there will be NO SALARY
You complain about anything that happened? He's fixing it up in any way he can
You are his ANGEL, NOTHING will ruin your day as long as he can prevent it.
When you grow up, your options are very clear in his eyes
Either you go to uni and live independent of the mafia, or you inherit his spot when he dies
If you go for neither, he may be a bit shocked, but he'll hesitantly step back
He'll see how it goes, but he's not very confident at first
If it goes well? Fuck, great! He's always in your corner rooting for you
If it doesn't go so well, you always have him as a backup
He'll always be there to take you back with open arms and give you a second, third, fourth, fifth, etc chance. Always
If you do join the mafia, there will be no low rank experience for you
You're straight to the upper ranks. At first, you'll probably be in a position similar to Akutagawa under Dazai or how he was under Koyo
Direct subordinate, his apprentice, his prodigy
And when he dies, you're next in line for his exec spot
There's not even a worry about your skillset, he knows he's trained you well, ability or no ability.
Finally, back to the dilf topic I've mentioned at the beginning
If you go to uni, he has the same problem Dazai had, but WORSE
Fuck guys, he swears he tries to keep out of your friendships, but suddenly everyone's adults and they wont leave him alone.
It's at this point he stops hosting your events (except birthdays) and separates himself
No way is he getting involved with crazy college kids, no way
Overall: 9/10 father
He's a bit absent in your social circle, but he's your dad and thats that
He screams support from the stands and that's really the best you can ask for in a dad <3

theyre so pathetic together-
theyre all the entertainment you need growing up
constant bickering (lovingly)
they dont involve you in all that
it comes with them both being in seperate factions, but they BOTH work very hard to keep you out of the professional lives
you're their kid, they dont want you in any of the doublesided danger that could get you in
you're probably a secret to everyone except the ADA and the other mafia
And your existence is on a need-to-know basis for everybody else
Dazai is the more present figure in your life, simply because Chuuya has to be a bit more distant
It's the nature of his line of work, anyone he's seen with is a target, and he doesn't want that to be you
He will be at your schooling events still, though. He will be YELLING AND SHOUTING in the stands
Into sports? Every time theres an unfair play he will cuss the living daylights out of the ref
And they just have to let him because theres nothing they can really do about
Dazais the same way, but with less scare factor and way less vigor
After games, he's going to complain WITH you about how lame the whole thing was if you lost, how everything was judged unfairly
They may not get along the best together, but they love each other and especially love you, so they're improving for you
Read: Chuuya is making them improve for you
Dazai thinks hes the victim in all this!
But oh well, if Chuuya makes him apologize when they argue in front of you, he will
When you're all grown up, they both encourage you to find your own path
You've got the chance, thanks to them, and they dont want you involved in their little wars
It's not like you can join any sides, because who would want to be against your dad :(
So really your only choice is moving out, maybe even away-
If you really do want into their business, they both insist you join the ADA
It's safer there for you, and Chuuya would rather have to order his men to not under any circumstances EVER hurt you, than have to watch someone he can't control put you in danger
Plus, he knows Dazai will keep you in the safest position possible
Overall: 7/10 together
They're a nightmare at dinner, and Dazai is sleeping on the couch almost every night
But they adore you and every move you make, so there's no way you're feeling unloved at all

I'll be the man my father never was (extra)
[Remember the dadzai fic being in hiatus?? Well, here's a small part of what I had planned, posting it for @imsofrancey bday!! Have an amazing day!!!]
December 2022
Nights like this are getting less usual with each passing day.
Now, Dazai doesn’t call for a helping hand, only so he can drink himself to sleep in a bar down the streets of his city.
Adam is right about what think, he should burn the desire to drink and drown with something else that soothes his mind and, with a little try and error, walking around was found to be the answer.
So, Dazai becomes an elderly man, strolling around the city with hands in his pockets. His fingers twitch, aching to hold a cigarette, but he pushes that to the back of his mind as well, and keeps walking in the dead of the cold winter night.
Would you stay for Christmas? Chuuya asked two days ago.
We’ll leave once winter is over.
Like some kind of princess trapped inside the hut in the goods, or a pirate condemned to take refuge in the port during the months the ocean was ungovernable.
Their tug of war of offering Dazai and Atsushi to stay and not being able to leave, had been going on since September and maybe, by this time, Dazai didn’t really wanted to keep playing.
It’s late when Dazai comes back from his walk, later than he had planned when he told Chuuya about heading out for a while. He needed to clear his mind, to walk around an empty city, thinking about nothing and allowing his feet to take him wherever his body wanted.
With all the complaints he had at first, Dazai is glad when he opens the door of Chuuya’s apartment. If he was still alone, he would have paced around the house, digging his nails too deep into brittle skin as he tried to ground himself. With Chuuya home, he can leave for a walk, knowing that Atsushi is safe and sound, without having to call and bother one of his friends or coworkers.
Balancing everything is easier now, and Dazai knows that without Chuuya here, his bad habits would knock on the door much louder than they already do.
“Chuuya?” he calls softly, but the apartment remains silent as he takes off his shoes. Three pairs of shoes align by the door now. Atsushi's ones are more for the show than anything but, in these past weeks, Chuuya had bought enough baby shoes to fill a room.
“He’ll walk soon”, he said last night. “I can feel it.”
The tiniest doc martens Dazai had ever seen seem to be his favorite ones, and that are the ones in the genkan. Maybe Atsushi and Chuuya went for a walk too, sooner in the afternoon.
There is no sign of Chuuya in the living room or in the kitchen. Maybe for once he dragged himself to bed early, not waiting for Dazai to come back. He doesn’t blame him, work and taking care of both Atsushi and Dazai, is a draining thing to do. Not even Chuuya and all his energy can keep the rhythm with the kind of life they have now.
“You’re asleep?” The door to Chuuya –their– room opens, just to find an empty bed, and that’s strange, because there’s no sound coming from the bathroom, and the small balcony door is closed. “Slug?”
Chuuya may be short, but not enough to disappear inside the apartment. And much less left it unattended. The only ones in the room are the cats, sleeping peacefully in an empty bed.
“Did you fall asleep in the brat’s room?” opening the door slowly, in case the kid is sleeping, Dazai walks into the next room. Feet light against the carpet and tiptoeing around toys. “Chuuya?”
He asks again, because Chuuya is not occupying the rocking chair.
“Where are-,” oh. “Hi...”
Dazai gets his answer when he approaches the crib to see Atsushi.
“Found you.”
He should laugh at the vision of Chuuya fitting inside a crib, but instead of that Dazai’s heart melts with affection at the way his partner embraces Atsushi. The kid is holding onto the adult´s shirt, melted in his arms in a sleep that looks deep and comfortable.
Atsushi has a tendency to fall asleep holding onto something.
And a tendency for waking up when someone makes him let go from that something.
Dazai can see it, Chuuya rooking the baby in his arms until he was quietly snoring, and climbing into the crib when he realized that he wasn’t letting go of his finger. Anything to not wake him up.
“Someone’s back is not going to be happy about this tomorrow,” short and small and everything, Chuuya is curled into a pretzel to fit inside the crib. “Sleep well dear.”
And then, he heads for his own spot in Chuuya’s cold bed.
A loud sound blasting through the baby monitor wakes him up a few hours later. Dazai opens his eyes and jumps from the bed so quickly that he’s not even half awake when he bursts Atsushi’s door open, rushing into the room like a hurricane.
He freezes in the spot the moment he realizes what’s happening.
It wasn’t a cry that woke him up, no.
It was a laugh, crystal clear and filling the room in a way that makes the static in Dazai’s brain go away.
Well, more like two laughs.
Atushi's giggles, clear and happy and so full of life, make a strange contrast with Chuuya laugh, deep and a little ugly. But Dazai always found the way Chuuya laughed charming, even if it was loud and a little bit crooked.
They're still sitting inside the crib, Atsushi on Chuuya's lap, who keeps ticking the baby's sides, making him burst with happy noises for the first time in the morning.
“Oh, you’re awake,” Chuuya says, looking at him from his spot in the crib. Dazai expected to find him ashamed or blushing because of it, but he looks pretty content with his sleeping spot of choice for the night. “Morning.”
“Good morning...”
“Say morning to dad Sushi,” and he grabs Atsushi's little arm, making the kid wave at him.
“Papa!” Atsushi makes grabby hands at him and Dazai’s legs finally answer, walking toward the crib so he can pick up the kid. “Papa!”
“Papa looks weird,” Chuuya jumps out of the crib without problem, stretching like a cat in the sun. Dazai decided to ignore the cracking sound Chuuya’s bones make, too focused on the sight for a few seconds before that. “Everything is fine?”
Chuuya’s hand rests on his arm, warm and secure. It's not a firm grip, he just places them against his cold skin, and Dazai shivers at the touch. Or maybe, it’s the soft look in Chuuya's eyes that makes him shiver.
With morning light sneaking in the room, Chuuya’s eyes are magical, light dancing over the mismatched colors. He looks happy and relaxed, and, when he tiptoes to kiss the corner of Dazai’s mouth, Dazai indulges.
“A little under the weather, that’s all,” there’s no point in lying to Chuuya and, as much as seeing him and the kid together cheering him up, last night's episode has Dazai trying to find balance once more. “The walk helped.”
“I’m glad then,” glad that it wasn’t a bottle of sake or a razor that did the trick. Glad Dazai was learning how to deal with everything in healthier ways. “Breakfast?”
He doesn’t push it, Chuuya doesn’t ask when Dazai doesn’t tell.
Chuuya bops Atsushi’s nose, who laughs again, trying to reach for him again.
“No buddy, you already stole him from me the whole night,” Atsushi is so easy to distract, the moment he talks, his attention is back in Dazai. “Stealing other’s man from such a young age, what are we going to so with you?”
Dazai nuzzles his nose against Atsushi’s chubby cheek, who keeps laughing. He's such a happy kid, easy going and bright. He's everything Dazai wasn’t when he was younger, he hopes he can keep growing up like this.
“I wonder who he learnt that from,” Chuuya says, still on his tiptoes. “Sounds like a classic Mackerell move.”
“I never stole anyone’s girl,” he protests, pouting a breath away from Chuuya’s mouth. “And I didn’t steal you either.”
Chuuya came to him in his own stupid accord.
“You’re lucky my taste in men is as bad as your posture,” and then, with a last impulse, he finally gives Dazai a proper good morning kiss. Chuuya's lips are warm against his, and Dazai can feel the small smile that takes shape against his mouth. “You need to shave.”
Chuuya complains with their lips still pressed together and, in revenge, Dazai bites his bottom lip.
“Only if you do it for me.”

god ur skk at school got me thinking a lot about how much angst can they endure..... how silent and lonely chuuya looks....and i bet she looks even more gloomy the days after a bad experiment in the lab....having to look normal again when monday arrives....
and dazai having the time of her live making friends i love her i hope she can help chuuya :(
Yeah. yeah, see chuuya is basically a fish out of water in this au, she never knew how other kids her age acted or what their home lives were like untill she went to school, and since she's never had the experience of being a 'normal' kid or having a childhood at all. So seeing all the other students have freedom where she doesn't only makes her more miserable with her situation and she chooses to isolate herself and keep a distance to avoid the jealousy and pain. Chuuya's actual experience at school ends up going against the original goal of sending her in the first place (learning to communicate with people her age) and N definitley realizes this soon enough.
Dazai on the other hand is given a genuine chance at having a relativley normal teenage (as normal as you can get for the adoptive daughter of a crimelord but ok). Dazai is a character who's really influenced by their environment, so NOT being in the actual mafia really improves her mental state exponentially, and being friend with the ADA trio brings out her heroic side a lot more. Another thing, Dazai does WANT to be part of the Port Mafia, out of curiosity and probably because it would be cooler, but essentially isnt allowed to (she's not allowed to touch dad's work lol). Ultimatley she's going to join the detective agency anyways but the journey there will involve less trauma.

Back in your homeland, at the Imperial Palace, the largest constructed facilities are ones of sport and training. Sharpened swords and polished armour take the place of bookshelves on bedroom walls, and the practice of scripture is seldom found. Higher education, though no less important than warfare, is strictly limited to scriveners, court officials, and the professional erudites of your father’s choosing. In the face of current conflicts, most of your father’s people are far more absorbed in military affairs and bureaucracy than arithmetics, the sciences and the humanities.
Although, when it came to you, it was like a switch went off and all those sentiments were turned upside down.
By a certain age, your tutelage switched from scholarly knowledge to that of etiquette and what he referred to as ‘womanly affairs’. Those usually consisted of things like sewing, music, and art classes. The only one you ever enjoyed was the horseback lessons.
But thankfully, your father’s one track mind meant you were never discovered for—or suspected of—possessing further-education books and studying politics, diplomacy, and military tactics on the days general schooling lessons were cancelled. It is why you find yourself in the royal library, hours before you are due to meet Dazai for dinner.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of marble shelves line the walls from floor to ceiling. Each one is stacked, end-to-end, with leather bound tomes and tea-stained manuscripts. There is a fireplace in the right corner, carved from blackened stone and crackling with warmth. Around it sits a pair of dark-green, thickly-cushioned armchairs, along with a matching sofa that is wide enough to fit at least four people.
You walk further in and are greeted with four arched windows spanning the length and height of the space, each one clear as the summer sea. You squint, momentarily blinded by a sudden passing ray of sunlight. Birds are chirping underneath the morning sky, and branches of a looming willow tree sway in front of the left-most window. You take in the sprawling garden view; a labyrinthine maze of hedges take up the centre, and a large assortment of decorations speckle the grounds. Smaller fountains, rainbow flower beds, and iron-wrought benches are only a few of what you can see.
You look around a bit more, noting the study tables anchored to the floor and the winding staircase that leads to the open-plan second floor. The library is well-kept, as shown by the pots holding blooming flowers along the window sills, but the dust lining the shelves indicates that no one has used the archives in a long time. You wonder why—it is the first and only comforting place that you have found in the cold, lonely palace.
You make your way down the stacks before a section catches your eye.
A Comprehensive Guide on Abilities and a Meta Analysis on their Structural Archetypes;
The Scholar’s Circle’s Codex on Yokohama’s Political Affairs;
North vs. South: A Dynastic Tale of Continental History.
You grab all three and almost lose your balance from the weight of each text. More and more books are added to the pile in your arms until you can no longer see straight ahead.
With a huff, you drop the mountain of pending research onto an oak-stained study table and quickly get to work.
Hours pass, the concept of time long faded as you lose yourself in the world of preternatural powers, warring states, and the cluttered institutions that make up the Kingdom in its most present form.
The striking differences between Yokohama and the Northern Empire are more vast than you had ever imagined. It's a stark contrast—governance, industry, arts, religion and everything else you've come across so far. Not a single commonality to be found.
“How has…? But wouldn’t the roots originate from the dark ages? Let’s see…” you mumble, talking to no one in particular.
“Have you found a specially interesting read?” A particular person asks.
You fall out of your seat in surprise.
“General!” You squeak, reeling from his sudden appearance.
The mild-mannered Fukuzawa gives you a gentle smile and moves to help you up. He hooks two large arms under your own and lifts you back onto your chair. The scene reminds you of a mother cat picking its kitten up by the scruff of its neck.
You drop your head onto the table in embarrassment, refusing to make eye contact until, hopefully, a meteor comes falling onto earth and crushes you to death.
“Good morning, General,” you mutter.
“Hmm.”
You peek up at him with one eye. “What?”
“It is five in the evening,” he replies, bemused.
“What?!” You bolt up, shame long forgotten.
It takes you a second to realize how orange the library is, cast in the hues from the setting sun.
You drag a hand over your face, rubbing the fatigue from your eyes. “Shit, I didn’t realize how late it had gotten.”
Fukuzawa raises a brow.
“What? You’ve never heard a noble cuss before?”
He taps his chin. “I can’t say I have. You truly are a breath of fresh air, Your Highness.”
You grin. “As are you, General. And please…”
He listens, head tilting in curiosity.
“It is [name]. We are friends, are we not?” Your false sincerity coats your words like a second skin.
The sun dips far below the horizon, robbing the world of its light. You take in the storm clouds in the distance, absentmindedly wondering if the Empire would experience the same downpour later in the night.
Fukuzawa ponders your question for a moment longer before answering. “We are, but I am also your subordinate, so I am afraid I must decline.”
“And if it is an order?”
Fukuzawa’s eyes sparkle. “Then I am under aristocratic obligation to comply.”
In a tone laced with authority and bemusement, you proclaim: “I, acting Monarch of Yokohama, hereby order General Yukichi Fukuzawa to act beyond propriety and address me by given name only. No titles, no fancy designations. Just [name].”
“As long as you are willing to grant me that same honor, [name].”
You grin. “See? Isn’t that so much better, Yukichi?”
The General only laughs and turns to take a seat across from you. The armour he dons makes a clanging noise as he settles himself. Patches of dirt litter the surface of the metal while other areas sport minor indents—likely from the force of a blade's flat or hilt.
“Did that hurt?” You nod towards the largest dip in the steel.
He looks down at his left side, around the area between his upper ribs. “Couldn’t even feel it.”
“Of course not,” you wave, returning your attention back to the pages.
“I see you are interested in…” Fukuzawa leans over the table, peering at the emboldened titles of each tome. “Yokohama politics, history, and culture?”
“The pen is mightier than the sword, as they say,” you muse. “And a bright mind is far mightier than those stumbling blind in the darkness of their own ignorance.”
“I do wish more members of the court shared that sentiment. It would certainly make my migraines less frequent.”
You faintly recall the term from a book you finished earlier. “The… inner court?”
“The very same. A parliamentary round table of aristocrats and representatives, headed by the Four Noble Houses.”
“The Four Noble Houses? You mean…” You cringe, an unpleasant memory resurfacing.
Fukuzawa’s eyes gleam with amusement. “Ah, yes. I recall a certain purple-faced duke drenched in the colours of His Majesty’s most favoured cabernet sauvignon.”
You smile sheepishly. “I messed up, didn’t I?”
“Formally? Yes.”
You groan and drop your head in your hands.
Fukuzawa lays a palm on your shoulder and gives you a gentle pat.
“But reasonably? Absolutely not. He deserved ten times worse than what he got.”
“Someone needed to stand up to him,” you point out.
“Sadly, there are not many people who can.”
You sigh at that and go back to your research. The moment you set your eyes back on the book, the pages in front of you begin to blur and mesh into a whirlpool of ink.
“Maybe it is time for a break…” you murmur.
Fukuzawa leans forward and studies your fatigued expression.
“What have you learned so far?”
You snort. “You mean other than our sordid history? The decades of hatred and conflict brewing between our countries?”
“Ah, yes. Besides that fun little facet of our politics.”
You run through the miles of information you had just absorbed, each little bit coming together piece by piece to paint a very clear picture of the modern world—one where mystic abilities, gods of old, and monsters coexist in disharmony.
‘Abilities’ as you have come to know them, are practically non-existent among the lower caste in the Northern Empire. The only ones who wield them are of noble blood, aside from the rare few commoners—unfortunate individuals who would be executed for merely holding power outside of their status. Even then, barely anyone manifests one. In recent years, the only ability-user you know of is Chuuya.
In Yokohama, these powers are respected, admired, and much more plentiful. In your textual observations, it is noted that the military and governing leaders are chosen for their abilities.
“Hm… what is yours?”
You are curious. What sort of fate-bending, death-defying power could this seasoned warrior have?
“Mine?”
“Your ability. You must have one, being the head of such an elite corps.”
“My ability…” he pauses.
You raised a teasing brow. “What? You’re not going to tell me?”
“Just considering the risks of doing so. You have proven yourself to be both smart and deceitful. A deadly combination.”
“Are you saying you don’t trust me?” You place a hand on your chest in mock offence, scoffing in indignation.
Fukuzawa laughs—that familiar smooth rumble that you have come to find placating. “Would I be wise to?”
“Of course not.” You wave a dismissive hand. “But you should tell me anyway because I am curious and stubborn and will likely find out on my own regardless.”
The general’s gaze is filled with a kind of warmth that is unknown to you, only interrupted by a flicker of a melancholy that twists his expression momentarily." It happens so fast you almost mistake it for a trick of the light.
“You remind me so much of her…” He mumbles under his breath so softly you pass it off as a whisper of the wind. “Very well. I will tell you.”
The sun has all but disappeared from the horizon, the shimmering moon slipping in its place. The dark, glittering night falls onto Fukuzawa’s features beautifully, making  him seem a little more weathered and a little less mundane as he explains his decidedly non-mundane powers.
“It allows me to control my soldiers’ own abilities. I am able to manipulate their capabilities, help navigate their potential, and expand the boundaries of what they can do. That is my ability,” he explains.
You mull over Fukuzawa’s words, a bit surprised at the nature of it all. The powerfully built military veteran looks at you like he knows what you are thinking—knows that you are confused on why someone with his battle prowess has such a passive skill.
“You forget, Your Highness, that before I am a warrior, I am first and foremost a leader. Without my men, I am nothing, and without me, many of those men would not have survived until now,” he states. He says it like a fact, and perhaps in some ways, it is. It makes more sense the longer you think on it, his ability is almost perfectly suited to his position. You wonder what yours would be if you manifested one. What about Dazai? Would his ability reflect bloodthirst and coldness? Or would it be the opposite of what you know him as?
You make a mental note to come back to that question later, and direct your attention back to the conversation at hand.
“[Name],” you correct.
Fukuzawa blinks. “Sorry?”
“You called me ‘Your Highness’ just now.”
“I apologize. Force of habit,” he drops his head in a slight bow and the moonlight streaming through the open windows reflects off his gray hair, transforming it into a silver mane.
Fukuzawa apologizes to you a lot, like a father fumbling for words in front of his newborn, careful not to be anything but kind. If anything, you find it endearing. As well as a little… disappointing.
“General.”
Fukuzawa’s smile drops at your change in tone. The worry in his eyes is clear. “Is something wrong?”
You give him a small smile, a tad tense. “No. Not really. Though, I would like to ask you something. Would you humour me?”
“Of course. I will answer anything within reason,” he reassures.
You rest your cheek against your palm, curiosity and wariness burning bright.
“Why are you so kind to me? I know how this country views the Empire—views me. I am not blind to the scornful glances nor hidden insults thrown around. I am numb to them. But you… Kunikida… that peculiar doctor as well, you are all much too cordial with a sworn enemy. Is it pity? Some misplaced sense of duty? Or perhaps it is all fake and you are all laughing behind my back as we speak.”
Silence spreads through the empty library, the only noises are the crackling of the fireplace and the gentle swishes of the willow branch behind you. The only thing you hear is your pulse thrumming against your skull.
If Fukuzawa is taken aback by your bluntness, he does not show it. Despite only knowing you for this short period of time, he is probably already used to your brusque manner of speech. He folds his hands in front of him and leans backward, taking some time to come up with a suitable answer. You can practically see the gears turning in that head of his.
A few moments pass before he finally speaks in a serious, yet gentle, voice.
“Do you think yourself undeserving of our respect?”
You shake your head and answer: “Not at all. I am only surprised you would willingly impart it to me.”
“I cannot speak on Sir Kunikida or Dr. Yosano’s behalf—although, I imagine they share the same thoughts—but I am kind to you because it is common sense. I am kind to you because I am honoured to serve under your reign,” Fukuzawa assures. His expression softens. “I am truly sorry about the harassment you have had to endure. I will do my best to keep them in check, but if it happens again, do not be afraid to use your status. You are their ruler. Do not let them forget it.”
A lump forms in your throat and you force yourself to swallow it down. The support eases your heart, but the anxiety does not fully disappear, nor does the cold tingle of resentment in your chest. They probably never will. For now, you will accept his words, but with caution, as you are still very much in enemy territory. You will need to lead with your mind to survive, not your heart.
And Fukuzawa? The gentle general is merely a stepping stone, not a friend.
“I… am grateful. Tha—”
“General Fukuzawa!” In a very familiar fashion, the doors to the library burst open to reveal a man, effectively cutting you off.
Kunikida stands beneath the frame, face alarmingly red and breaths coming out in short, laboured puffs. Out of the corner of your eye, you catch Fukuzawa grimacing.
“What. Are. You. Doing. Here?.” The minister spits out each word with barely contained anger—more accusation than actual question.
“Chief Minister.” Fukuzawa bows and slowly inches himself towards the door, closer and closer to the fuming blonde. “I see you are… upset.”
Kunikida’s eye twitches. “Upset? Upset?!” His voice hits an impressive octave and you briefly wonder if he’s ever considered a career in opera. He certainly has the knack for it.
“I—”
“The outdoor arena is on fire.”
The general clears his throat.
“Right. I did tell them not to try out those new techniques without me around, though His Majesty’s soldiers were never ones to adhere to the rules.”
“A black hole opened up in the ceiling and swallowed three stable boys. They were… fully nude when they fell out an hour later.”
Fukuzawa blinks.
“That’s… new.”
“You have five seconds,” Kunikida says flatly.
“Well. Duty calls. I shall have to put out some fires… er… literally.” Fukuzawa makes his way to the open doors and is about to leave when he adds: “Have a wonderful  night, [name].”
“Good luck,” you laugh.
He gives you a small wave before disappearing down the hall.
You turn your attention to Kunikida who is now slightly less red, though still glowing a nice shade of pink.
“Good evening, Chief Minister. To what do I owe the pleasure?” You ask.
“I am here to bring you to dinner service. Perhaps you have forgotten? You seem to be engrossed in our literary offerings,” he answers plainly.
Kunikida stays standing, but has walked further into the room, hands clasped behind him as he studies the books you chose with furrowed eyebrows.
“I enjoy reading. Is that such a crime?”
“I am only surprised you were able to find this place. After His Majesty banned entry, most just ignore it as they pass by.”
You cock your head to the right. “I was curious about that. Why? It is a beautiful library—a sunlit treasure trove of knowledge. I would imagine most people would be clawing at the doors for just a glance, yet it is as barren and untravelled as the deserts in the West,” you muse.
Your curiosity is only a mild interest until Kunikida’s gaze sharply turns away from yours, blatantly avoiding your poking and prodding. His averted eyes cause what little inquisitiveness you had just felt to balloon into a wave of eager investigation.
“Kunikida.”
He adjusts his glasses and nervously glances at his timepiece. “We are going to be late if—”
“Kunikida.”
He sighs, relenting.
“If nobody uses this place, why is it so well kept? There are no dirt patches or cobwebs, but the dust between pages suggests that no one has opened them for many years. ”
“If I were to make an educated guess…” Kunikida stops for a moment to think. “I would wager that His Majesty misses what it used to be, and is only trying to preserve the last of that magic. Though the memories here are much too vivid and much too painful for him to come back to.”
What it used to be…
A flicker of something… a fleeting feeling… No. A memory. At the very back of your mind—
“But I do not think he will continue to do so.”
It vanishes, and you fall back to reality, grasping at nothing and nowhere.
You shake yourself out of your daze, a bit peeved at the interruption, but curious all the same.
“Do what? Preserve this place? You believe he will let it just… crumble to ruins?”
Kunikida takes a seat and folds his gloved hands together. The lines on his forehead appear as he tenses, preparing his next words with careful precision. He works his jaw, tension releasing and forming with each movement, as if he is warring internally, fighting to either let the words out or keep it in.
You hope he chooses the former. The more information, the better.
His expression settles and a stern look replaces his calm visage. Whatever he has to say must be serious.
You catch yourself tapping the side of your thigh anxiously under the table and clamp your fingers down on your leg… hard. Your father did always say that a royal must be poised and perfect, and he made it extremely clear that such emotions were to be erased and forgotten.
And if they weren’t…
A chill runs down your spine at the memories.
“I am well aware that you are, and pardon my candor, untrustworthy.”
You almost snort. Not the first time you’ve heard that and it certainly won’t be the last.
Kunikida continues. “But I believe it is only right to tell you as His Majesty’s spouse. King Dazai is… he is…” Kunikida pauses as he fumbles for the right word.
A clock ticks. Kunikida settles on a phrase.
“Unwell. A disease of the mind and heart that has stolen his will. He is here only to serve a purpose and that purpose is not to live out the rest of his life. He exists, but for years now he has not been… here. Almost as if one wrong move and the line His Majesty balances upon disappears and takes him with it.”
Time slows. The air thickens. Are you breathing?
“Slowly but surely, he is fading away,” Kunikida pauses and swallows as he tries to work out his next words.
“Some days I believe he is better. Most days I do not allow myself to indulge in such a lie.”

DILF SKK IM SORRY
Tumblr media
Also headcanons bc I'm so normal about them
Dazai
Janky old broke hobo spiderman energy
When I say broke I mean BROKE
Will swindle his way into getting money
Absolute SLUT will sleep with someone just to have a place to stay the night
Not exactly homeless, he's more like a roach. Just kinda scatters anywhere and stays somewhere he finds comfortable even if he's not welcome (cough cough chuuyas apartment)
Giving frank Gallagher energy but if he actually tried to be a good dad (source: shameless)
Oh did I mention he's a dad
YESSSIRR HES GOT A DAUGHTER BC GIRL DAD DAZAI CANON
His daughter is actually kinda embarrassed of him
She's def the one who worries about him the most
Lives with her mom, who is one of dazais old one night stands (IT SHOULDVE BEEN ME FR)
Her mom couldn't give two shits about this man even if she tried
His daughter doesn't want to be anything like him
She inherited his intelligence tho, just not his irresponsibility
Dazai doesn't live with them, he and the mother aren't dating but they're not friends either, she just kinda accepted that he's this cockroach in her life and her daughter is a nice piece of leftover trash he can't get enough of
Don't get me wrong, dazai LOVES his little girl
Absolutely adores her
She's usually just annoyed by him
He finds it cute when she yells at him cause it reminds him of when she would throw tantrums as a toddler
But she does genuinely love her dad more than anything
It's just hard for her to show it
She's not particularly close with her mom either since she's kind of a cruel and bitter woman
Still not over how dazai treated her
He's not perfect, but he tries
Chuuya
This man is like the complete opposite of dazai
He's a single father who wouldn't leave his daughter alone for a second
Unlike dazai chuuya fell genuinely in love with a woman but she died during childbirth
At first he was angry that his wife was taken away but one look at this little girl in his arms and all the pain and anger washed away
He promised her he would give her the world no matter what
He's absolutely the best father you could ever ask for
His daughters spoiled spoiled SPOILED
Nothing but the best for his little girl🥺
And unlike dazai bro is LOADED so yeah she pretty much gets anything she wants with a snap of her fingers
But she's not a brat tho (at least, not when she's older)
She takes after chuuya in her need to be useful and independent
She's actually way more calm than he is, but she does have a little of his demeanor
Anyway enough abt her since I'm very early into the development of this au and Idk much about how I want the kids to be yet
Chuuya does bulk up as years go by cause ain't no way this child having a TWINK for a father🙄
He does also get a teensy bit taller bc I wanna throw this dog a bone, man
"I'm still growing" You know what?? Yeah you are buddy keep believing in urself😊
Still in the mafia, but since having a kid he's withdrawn a lot more from this life
He's not the type to try to get a higher position for his kid since he knows that the more involved he is with the Port Mafia, the more danger he and his family is in
Only a few in the Port Mafia actually know he's got a kid
For a while they tried to keep it a secret from mori not knowing what he'd do
Also do not leave his young daughter alone with this man
WEVE SEEN YOSANOS BACKSTORY GOODBYE
Chuuya is a lot less violent than he was in his 20s
Having a kid really softened him up
Now when he's on a mission, he doesn't kill anyone unless he was ordered to
He can see the fear in his enemy's eyes and all he can think of are their kids and what would happen to them
So unless he absolutely has to, he won't kill anyone
His job is also a secret from his daughter
He doesn't want her involved in any way whatsoever
He wants her to find her own path, to be her own person, and most of all, to be safe and happy
Wasn't gonna do this part but
SOUKOKU
Dazai and chuuya do get back together in this au
After the unofficial breakup they did have a couple nights together but after a while they drifted apart, chuuya finding a wife and family, and dazai slowly spiraling deeper and deeper into his own mess
Their lives are intertwined again upon an incident where their kids are in danger
That's when they pull a spy x family and secretly defeat the enemy without their daughters knowing about it
It was supposed to be a one time thing, after this they're back to their normal lives
But unfortunately their girls became quite good friends, so they had to keep seeing each other
They went from hanging out with their kids in a daddy-daughter tea party to absolutely destroying each other in the bedroom
Ok that's all I genuinely wanna develop this au so ask me anything! I'd love to answer ur questions!!!

regarding the post i made here…
a universe where everything is COMPLETELY normal and everyone is living the happy lives they deserve, RIGHTTTTT???
ok great !!
Soooo
The ADA members as not only besties, but journalists. And basically turning the Agency into a newspaper.
Now, idrk how a newspaper is exactly ran and what roles there are blah blah blah and all that stuff… BUT LET ME SAY MY SHIT.
i’m just saying that this newspaper is gonna b silly. Dazai probably has his little drama section where all the shit goes down.
Dazai and Kunikida, reporter and journalist. Dazai dramatically interviewing people involved in drama and rumors— getting them to spill all their nasty little quirks and kunikida having to write it down 2 include in their paper and the shit he is hearing is WILD. 📝😨...
Ranpo is a journalist & Reporter and he’s over here getting on missing person cases, crime scenes, and all these in depth analysis/investigations that make ppl reading stop, and say, “now wait a god damn minute..”
Yosanoooooo… I wanna say she used to work in the paper a lot when she was younger. Then she went off to medical school 2 go be a doctor and now she’s the best one in the city. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to hangout with her paper pookies and add her own little medical mumbles section advising ppl not to do dumb stuff (indirectly shitting on how stupid people are because they’re fr walking into the hospital saying they got hit by 5 cars, shot in the chest 7x, attacked by rabid squirrels, and ate glass all in the same day.)
Naomi and Tanizaki r photographers. Getting all the best angles, shots, and all that crispy quality. You’d catch them out in public in the most jaw dropping positions just 2 get a certain shot. There’s a food section in the paper so you better believe they’re getting the most toe crunching pics of that.
Kenji also hangs out a lot with the paper folk, he’s still going to school, and he works in a farmers market w his fam, but he ALSO submits stories to be featured in the newspaper and it varies from stuff abt the market, farms, animals, and good natured things because kenji is an amazing positivity spreader. He’s totes thinking abt starting an internship .
Atsushi is one of the newer recruits. A journalist who’s still taking on small stories but don’t worry!!! One of them will b big eventually 😈 he was also trained under Dazai, so you KNOW something big is gonna come 4 him.
we’re gonna pretend that sigma got his happy ending in s5 and joined the ADA ☹️☹️☹️
Kyouka and Sigma r likeeeeee the internships. I read that some organizations allow 14 y/o interns so 🥰 let’s pretend that sigma is of age and around akutagawa’s and Atsushi’s age becauze I SAID SO.
WE CANT FORGET THAT FUKUZAWA OWNS THÉ PAPER ‼️‼️🗣🗣💥
Anhwahs not only r they a super cool newspaper for Yokohama but they’re each others BEST FRIENDS.
like they’re happy to go to work
i mean dazai is still a emo little freak but idc
IMAGINE WAKING UP IN THE MORNING AND BEING HAPPY TO GO TO WORK BC U GET TO C THE PEOPLE YOU GET TO BE STUPID AND SILLY WITH.
Fukuzawa is actually their dad (not clickbait) and he loves all of them because they’re his kids. (that’s why they get away w half the shit they do)
anhwahs thanks for coming to my chat. 😛

WHO wants to hear my fic abt chuuya having a kid. he's raising this snotty, quick-witted little girl because he found her in a lab on one of his missions and he's got a bleeding heart, and the similarities to his own upbringing...
has it ever occurred to him that she has the same eyes as his ex-partner and the same intellect? the same way her eyes crinkle when she smiles and the same cackle? yes. it's almost certain to him, especially given her ability - that's dazai's kid, at least biologically.
did he find her when dazai was in hiding? he did. did he have any way of contacting dazai? no. did he want to tell the bastard he had a kid? no.

Dazai and Akutagawa are so
'Oldest sibling leaves the abusive household and younger sibling is left behind'
And
'Parent making older sibling raise younger sibling, causing the older sibling to resent the younger sibling and causing a divide between what could've been a good bond'
And
'Older sibling abuses younger sibling and no one stops them, so younger sibling keeps waiting for the day they're strong enough to be able to get back at them'
And
'Younger sibling looks up to abusive older sibling because despite everything they're the only older person that they think they can rely on'

I'm in love with your "mori is functionally skk's dad" art! I keep thinking about it 24/7! Partially because it's funny, partially because it reminds me about the time my father called me an "accessory to sin" and yeah that sounds like something that would happen in this AU.
Anon I need you to understand that this is no AU this a strong belief of mine, canon Mori has some serious issues with being a parental/mentor figure for overpowered kids he won't stop and it's so bad
Tumblr media
I was gonna put it in the tags but it got needlessly long so
Fucked up dad Mori arguments (spoilers everywhere)
(Fifteen) Mori projects himself onto Dazai and subtly teaches him manipulation techniques. He also has a soft smile when Chuuya accepts his vision of leadership and pledges his loyalty to him.
(Storm Bringer) Accompanies Chuuya and sits next to him during the Flags' funeral. Sounded pleased when Chuuya said the PM was his family now. Chuuya's actual dad was also said to be a military doctor, which when combined with his mom and Kouyou also being very similar, should definitely be an intentional parallel.
(Dark Era) Mori wanted to teach Dazai another lesson in leadership on "necessary sacrifices" and "personal attachments vs decision making", it dramatically backfired, he is still disappointed to this day.
(Yosano backstory) Was protective of this little girl surrounded by army men, yet prioritized his grand plan to win the war over her emotional well-being.
[ ^ hey look how similar the last two points are (Mori doesn't learn shit) ]
(BEAST) When removed from the mafia, took over a shitty orphanage and made it good + offered emotional support to a lost teenager by LITERALLY offering to be his dad (+expressed his past will to save another lost teenager)
(also BEAST) Elise could be an adult, and yet she's always a child. That man is trying to fill in a hole in his life and when he got the orphanage he didn't need to do so anymore.
(Guild arc) Under the disguise of the local physician, he redirected Atsushi and taugh him one of his little lessons basically unprompted and Atsushi's impression of him as a mentor was very positive.
ANYWAY Mori has issues because he stuck himself between wanting to mentor the younger generation to help them grow into their potential and throwing everyone's emotions and desires (including his own) out the window in favour of the """optimal solution"""
