We don't do compulsive behaviors because we lack willpower. We do them because it's the only way we know how to self soothe. Soothing is an instinctual behavior, not a moral one.

I must not google medical conditions. Googling medical conditions is the mind-killer. Googling medical conditions is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my desire to go on WebMD and look up symptoms. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the urge to google medical conditions has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

If it kept you alive then don't regret it.
What's important is surviving. Being alive . By whatever means possible.
Forgive yourself for all those decisions you made, you think were wrong and do the right thing now.
You are here. You are alive. It's all that matters. I am proud of you.

Stumbled into a blog with cats and got inspired. Here a quick sketch of a peepaw Leo and a little Leo finding new ways to annoy his new big bro figure. Big Leo doesn’t mind tho. Casey used to chew on his bandana and scarf when he was a baby.
Fact: There was this phase in my teens where I had this One Piece logo necklace and I’d chew/bite on the chain. Not real healthy to do btw. I wouldn’t call it a stim, I grew out of it, but now I’m gonna give it to Leo.

ocd culture is holding yourself responsible for everyone's wellbeing, so if you don't offer help to every single stranger that might be having a bad day you must to be a terrible & selfish person and everyone knows it and they're judging you and you'll never be able to show your face around here again

I have OCD, which means that while my room may not be the neatest, everything is in its correct spot (unless I have to order it again), and if you touch it, I’ll either have a panic attack or bite you. Or both.

I’ve had a lot of infuriating shit happen to me over the course of my silly little life, but I do think I’ve pinned down the single most impossibly frustrating thing in the whole world.
“Wow, you have amazing coping mechanisms. This is remarkable, you've compensated for your disability so well that you're not even disabled really. I don't think you need medicine or help for it at all since you do so well!”
I’m not saying that abusing neurodivergent children works, but it does insomuch as the ones that survive the process turn out capable of functioning at levels no one should ever expect of anything ever. I can absolutely operate at 200% efficiency, sometimes for weeks, but it is illogical and cruel to expect that from me as the baseline.

I think the most depressing thing that’s happened in my life over the past couple of months is watching an otherwise intelligent friend descend into paranoia and conspiracy. maybe ex friend now, because I don’t feel all that inclined to talk to him these days, but it’s still sad to be a bystander to this who can’t help even if you try to intervene.
