pocd culture is surrounding yourself with people that are open about having taboo sexual fantasies in an attempt to reaffirm that you're not a sexual predator just for having certain thoughts, then realizing you don't actually have any predatory sexual fantasies and you've been surrounding yourself with people you find repellant and now you have real event ocd about that instead

Undiagnosed OCD culture is having to control the urges to scream every time things feel wrong because you are being hysterical but your parents/guardians wouldn't understand and would think you can control it

OCD culture is feeling like you'll never be allowed to be a human because the OCD gets triggered with every mistake you do. I know it's impossible to be perfect, but my brain tears at me to be the closest to perfect I could ever possibly be.
It sucks! (Also hope you're having a good day so far)

ocd culture is "Doubt Comes In" from Hadestown
Just. Ugh. Orpheus is so fucking ocd. The repetition in the song. The rumination. "What if she's not there? What if he tricked me? What if I'm not good enough?" I forget the exact lyrics but w/e
When Orpheus turned to look at Eurydice, the lady sitting in the audience behind me said "Stupid. He's stupid. He shouldn't have turned."
And it just. Fucking broke me. Because all I could see in Orpheus at that moment was myself. Am I stupid?
Was Orpheus stupid for being afraid? Was Orpheus stupid for loving so hard that the fear grew all the stronger? Was Orpheus stupid for turning back when the voice in his head was screaming at him to do so?
Am I stupid when I let ocd win? Am I stupid when I do a compulsion against my better judgement? Am I stupid for doing something when the voice in my head is screaming at me to do so?
On a lighter note, the message of Hadestown is that if they keep telling the tragedy over and over again, maybe it'll end differently. Maybe if I keep fighting ocd at every turn, I won't let it win.

OCD culture is drowning in guilt that you sometimes even know (even if just deep down) is unjustified but cannot stop from consuming you until you feel like the monster made of black tar your mind is trying to convince you that you are.
