✩ WEEKLY FIC ROUND-UP ✩
All the fics I’ve read and really enjoyed in the past week-ish. Reminder: This list features any and all ratings and themes.
Danny Phantom
Space Case by TorScrawls
Danny runs into some astronauts from NASA’s lunar mission while trying to do his homework on the moon. This leads to new friends, a new job, and eventually to Danny finding a place for himself out among the stars.
Also, Danny gets to be a gremlin in space.
“Well,” Watkins drew the word out on a sigh as she slumped against the doorframe. “We didn’t cover this in training.”
Cecilia found her eyes trained on the spot where Danny had just walked through the wall. Like a— “Is the moon haunted?!”
Watkins was silent for a long while, and when Cecilia finally managed to tear her eyes away from the wall and look at her colleague, she found her frowning at the com. "…Who's going to tell the commander?"
Emergency Contact by lexosaurus
When William Lancer answered the phone that day, little did he know that he would go from an average literature teacher and cat-dad to now the emergency foster parent for a very injured teenage ghost.
Life had a funny way of being unpredictable like that.
Tutoring Phantom by lexosaurus
It was funny. A year ago Dash was all but praying for Fenton to shut up, but now he would do anything to hear him speak.
Stranger Things
Dustin Henderson and the Lovebirds by pukner (+ podfic)
"You look like you've been mauled, dude," says Lucas. Then, after a beat, "Oh, ew."
"What the fuck," says Dustin, cottoning on, "What the fuck. This is hell, you didn't."
"Oh, I did," says Eddie, with the air of someone who's won something. He looks like the proverbial cat who's got the canary, if the canary wore polos and listened to Blondie.
"Shut up," Steve mutters, flushing as he seems to register what's happening, "Guys, it's not what you--uh, this isn't what it looks like-"
Or, five times Dustin Henderson was subjected to Eddie Munson being gross and sappy and in love with Steve Harrington, and one time Steve didn't even have to be there.
Clone Wars
I will look for you every time by unintentionalgenius
The soldier - barely more than a boy - swallows hard.
“And you’re here reporting to me because someone else is manning the rescue mission.” They’re both silent for a long moment. “Correct?”
Boil begins gingerly. She has the sense she is being handled. “The whole system went. There’s no way to get back down there. I think it was a bomb, planned. And - “ he hesitates, eyeing her face. “And no one could have survived that, sir. Not even one of us.”
“That’s impossible,” she says, instinctively.
this guy fucking sucks by Sunfl0wer78
Anakin didn't get it. The 501st was cool. Rex was great. So why was Commander Cody so... boring? And why was Obi-wan was obsessed with him? Everyone loved him. For what fucking reason.
Anakin doesn't understand Cody. Cody hates him. Maybe.
A Minor Detail by wanderingjedihistorian (RangerJedi67)
"I do apologize for the oversight,” Obi-Wan said. “I’m from a planet called Stewjon. While we look near human, we are all shapeshifters. While this is truly a minor detail in the grand scheme of things…” Cody stared incredulously. “Permission to speak freely, sir?” “Always, Cody, you know that,” he replied. “Sir, your ability to change into an otter does not qualify as a minor detail."
or, 3 times Obi-Wan's otter form came in handy on a mission and 1 time it was used for fun.

CC Batch Aurek: Abregado
one | two
this fought me so hard but HEY through the power of Maybe-Force-Maybe-Eldritch Shenanigans i have decided to improve the outcome of the 104th v the Malevolence.
not by a lot, but still.
---
Nax knew it wasn't his place to question his superior officers, but they seemed very worked up over something that was easily verified.
"--in the Abregado system when we lost contact--"
Nax stepped away from the communications room to pull up his comm, leaving the Council and the Chancellor to debate whether his brothers were worth rescuing. It was still early into second shift, which meant that most of first shift had probably only just made it to sleep, which mostly meant--
"I swear," Rex growled, "On Prime's fucking cock, if this isn't an emergency--"
"Commander Wolffe might be in trouble," Nax blurted, because Rex tended to keep his threats. "Can you, uh, check on him?"
Nobody really knew how the Aurek batch worked--including, apparently, Aurek themselves--and while the lack of tangible evidence drove Coric up the wall, it was already proven that they were somehow connected.
Admittedly, the 'proof' came in the form of Rex getting incredibly drunk, predicting how his adopted batchers were feeling, and then comming them to prove it, so it was slightly suspect. But the only one he'd gotten wrong had been Commander Fox, who'd spent a good fifteen minutes threatening them with discipline and dismemberment for interrupting his work, which had only resulted in Rex grinning dopily at the holo.
There was a short pause on the other end of the call while Rex presumably did his mystical feely powers banthashit, but the sharp intake of air told Nax all he needed to know.
"General Koon called asking for reinforcements in the Abregado system," he reported without prompting as he heard the familiar sound of armor being hastily donned. "The comm was cut off, and we haven't been able to reestablish communications. They were after intel on that new Sep weapon."
"Then the survivors don't have long," Rex said grimly. His voice became clearer, shifting from a wrist comm to helmet speakers. "I'll go mobilize a squad; tell the General to meet me in the hangar."
"Yessir."
Nax cut the call and made his way back to the communications room.
"--absence of distress beacons indicate that his fleet was--"
"Sirs," he interrupted, standing at sharp attention, "At least some of the 104th has survived. Captain Rex is currently assembling a rescue team in the hangar."
There was a brief moment of utter silence. Then:
"Rex," General Skywalker breathed.
"Oh," General Kenobi said. He covered his eyes with one hand. "Oh, of course. I hadn't even thought about asking Cody."
"I'll lead some of the gunships over to the Abregado system to pick up the survivors," Skywalker announced, a new determined set to his shoulders. "Admiral Yularen will stay the course to keep watch on our supply lines, and we'll catch up as soon as we've retrieved the Wolfpack."
"I'm sorry," the Chancellor interjected, "But where is this intel coming from? Anakin, I know your heart is in the right place, but we cannot risk resources on the mere chance that there could be survivors."
"It's not just a chance," Skywalker said firmly. "Rex knows that at least Commander Wolffe is alive. And even if it's just him, any witnesses to how the weapon works would be worth it."
"You're basing this off the word of a clone?"
All five Jedi turned their attention to the Chancellor, radiating judgment. Nax smirked from behind the safety of his helmet.
"No offense intended to your Captain, of course," the Chancellor said hastily. "But, Councilors, you must see that this is an unwise decision--"
"No, Anakin has a point," General Kenobi interrupted, stroking his beard. "If Captain Rex says that Commander Wolffe is alive, that definitely means there are survivors out there."
"And how does the Captain know that?"
"It has to do with their batch," Kenobi explained. "They are a very unique group of clones--my own Commander Cody is part of it as well--"
Permission implicitly--if not expressly--given, Skywalker slapped the button to disconnect the call before he could be told otherwise, and immediately headed out of the comm room.
"Snips, go with Rex, get the rescue team going ASAP. I'll follow you in the Twilight. Admiral Yularen, we have new orders..."
Nax watched them go, a tight knot of tension loosening in his chest. He pulled up his comm again.
"The Commander's on her way, sir," he reported. "You'll take the squad and depart ASAP; General Skywalker will catch up in his ship."
"Understood. We'll be underway as soon as Commander Tano gets here."
"Captain, if you can..."
Nax hesitated, the words sticking in his throat, because it was a stupid request, but--
"I'll do everything I can to find your batchmates," Rex promised gently, his voice losing its crisp edge. "If they're alive, we'll bring them home."
Nax exhaled shakily.
"Thank you, sir."
He didn't know if the Jedi always had their best interests at heart--and was almost positive that the Senate didn't--but Nax knew that he could always depend on his brothers. That they would look out for each other, even if no one else cared.
(Only thirty troopers made it out of the destruction. Only thirty, out of six hundred, remained of the 104th Battalion.
But two of them were Sinker and Boost, and later, if Nax wept out of relief and selfish joy that at least they survived, he knew that his brothers understood.)

Next random event in the Cody Morocco AU
"Is there any sport you like?"
"To watch? Not really. My father always found them boring and so did I. But I do one, if you can call it a sport."
“What?”
“Archery.” He said shyly.
“Archery?” Frankie’s eyes started to shine. “That’s so cool!”
“Really?” He hummed. “You want to see my bow?”
“You have it with you?” Cody nodded silently to answer her. “Of course I want!”
“Uh-huh.” He turned his head towards Quickclaw. “Quickclaw could I?” The dog simply nodded, throwing up the disguise for a second in the part of his tail, to open a small part of which revealed a short dark gray mechanical stick with blue lights on it. It was still so hard for Frankie to believe  that it really was Cybertronian in disguise. It was so strange, at least Rescue Bots didn’t need to hide the fact that they are robots… Quickclaw twitched his tail and the stick flew out from it, which Cody caught with ease. “Thanks.”
By pressing the button, the metal unfolded into a bow like shape. Cody handed it to Frankie as he walked over to the tree. He leaned his tablet against a tree trunk and after a while the hologram of the archery target was displayed on the wood. Meanwhile Frankie inspected the weapon. It was quite heavy, with more blue fragments placed in the upper and lower limb. The riser had a whole in it, like something should be placed there. Yet, it didn't have string and Cody clearly haven’t had arrows with him and she heavily doubt Quickclaw had them hidden.
"How does it shoot?" She asked as Cody approached her.
He took the bow from her hand and took a small blue crystal from one of his pockets, inserting it into the riser. Blue fragments started to glow, and the string, also blue, had appeared. “Energon crystal need to be inserted first.” He answered.
“Isn’t it Cybertronian’s blood?” She asked next question, little confused.
“It seems those Bots keeps a lot of secrets from you.” Quickclaw laughed. “Yes, it is our blood but can also be used as a fuel for vehicles, machines or, as you can see, weapons.”
“You want to try?”
“I never used bow before.”
“Oh.” Cody took a step back. “Then I will show you.”
Cody stood straight with his feet shoulder-width apart and feet at a 90-degree angle to the target. He gripped the hilt of his bow, drawing the glowing string, with his index finger of the pulling hand is under his chin, and the string touched his nose and lips. At the same moment, a light blue arrow appeared, being ready to be shoot. He relaxed his grip on the string and allowed fingers to slip backward. He maintained in that position for more few seconds, lowering his bow afterwards, with a prideful spark in his eyes. The arrow hit the center of the target. It was the first time Frankie saw him like that and it made her happy to see her friend like that.
"Now it's your turn." Cody snapped her out of her thoughts. “Ready?”
“Ha! I will show you.” She said with confidence, getting the bow from Cody’s hands.
She stood in the same place as Cody, trying to imitate his pose. Drawing the string was harder than it looked, and aiming even worse. She accidentally released the string, firing an arrow that didn't even make it to the trunk of the tree.
She could hear Quickclaw’s laugh in the background. “Quickclaw stop it!” Cody scolded his Cybertronian friend. “Don’t worry, my first shoot looked like that as well.”
“No it didn’t.” Quickclaw chuckled, starting to calm his laughter.
Cody frowned slightly. “Come, let’s try again.” He said softly, trying to encourage Frankie.
“I don’t know-”
“I will help you.” And Frankie nodded.
Cody came closer placing hands on her wrist. “Stand as you did before.” And she did. Cody helped her lift the bow and draw the string. “Good. Now direct your dominant eye to the center of the target.” She nodded as she did. “Excellent. I will let you go. Remain in that position for a few seconds and fire. And remember, stay straight.” He paused for a second. “Ready?” She nodded again. Cody did as he had said, slowly letting go of her wrists.
She fired. And she hit the target. Maybe not the best, but she hit it.
“Yes!” She burst. “I did it!”
“I told you so.” Cody admitted.
“Congratulations Francine.” Quickclaw bowed his head slightly.
“Why do you choose archery?” Frankie asked.
“It’s a funny story, really.” Cody started as Quickclaw rolled his eyes. “When I was around 5/6 years old, one of my father’s project backfired and got out of control. If not for the Quickclaw who smashed it, our home would be destroyed.” He paused. “After that accident, my father had decided that I need to know how to get rid of failed experiments so the situation will not happen again. So he made a deal with one of his clients. Quint Quarry taught me how to use a bow and hunt in exchange for my father's robotic animals. He was a great teacher, and we still meet once a year, to test my skills.”
The rocket was crashing through the town, destroying buildings and attacking random people, with Morbot and Rescue Bots and their human partners looming behind it. Suddenly, the rocket turned around, flying directly towards Kade and the girl she was guarding with his body.
“Kade, look out!” Dani shouted, yet it was too late, Kade could dodge it.
Kade closed his eyes, ready to be hit by the small rocket. Yet, nothing happened. He reopened the. He was alright, girl as well. He looked at the wall next to his head, with widened eyes. The rocket was pinned to it by the blue energy arrow with sparks flying out of the toy. After a moment, the arrow disappeared and the rocket fell to the ground.
“Kade, are you alright?” Graham asked, running closer to his brother.
“Yes.” Kade snarled.
While Graham was collecting his older brother, their father looked into distance.  Frankie and Cody watched the entire action from the park. Cody stood straight with bow but after feeling Charlie’s glance, he curled up and backed away as Frankie suddenly sprang at him with obvious glee.
Charlie saw what had happened. It was his arrow which shoot the rocket. Cody saved Kade’s life.
“Yes father?” Cody spoke into the microphone in the earphones.
Frankie was irritated. She observed as hers friend happily expression tuned into neutral, absolutely calm.
“As you wish, father.” He took his right hand from the earphones, ending the call. “Sorry, I need to go.” He smiled softly.
The Morbot flew up to them, bowing and holding out his hands, waiting for Cody and Quickclaw. Frankie didn’t need words to know he didn’t really want to leave now, she didn’t want it either. This old man always needed to ruin their fun.
“Next time I will show you the school.” Frankie smiled.
Cody nodded. “I hope so.” Him and Quickclaw got onto Morbot’s hand. Bot straightened up after a while, lauching his rocket shoes.
“See you!” Frankie shouted.
Cody waved her goodbye.
Cody did the right thing, right? Frankie said so, she was happy when he did. Quickclaw agreed with his choice as well. So why his father was mad?

The E-11 Blaster - Tech x F!OC (Part 2)
This story is a slow burn but I thought the rescue would be important! Sorry if it's boring. But it will definitely heat up in the next chapter!
Warnings: One swear word, maybe a little violence, but I would argue that most of it is poorly written!
Word Count: 3,084 (whoops)
Part One
Tumblr media
Kelsa was sat on the floor of the Marauder, her heart racing at the loss of her friend. Her back rested against the wall and she had raised her knees towards her chest. She fiddled with the silver ring on her finger as her hands rested on top of her knees.
Tech was walking through the plan, in excruciating detail.
She hadn't realised a plan of smash, blast and grab could even be so detailed. She wanted to bang her head against the wall - this was taking too long.
Echo, Wrecker, Hunter and Omega had all gathered around Tech's datapad, which projected the holographic layout of the palace they had scouted earlier.
"It should be a simple extraction, based upon the intel gathered by Kelsa and I earlier today." He gave her a brief glance, though his face seemed expressionless. "Kelsa is insisting upon joining us. But, based on her history with Commander Cody and General Obi-Wan Kenobi, I cannot see that this would jeopardise the mission at hand. Obviously, we work better alone but -"
"Obviously," Kelsa snorted. "Look," she sighed, "I'll follow orders from all of your. As far as I am concerned, even Omega is my current commanding officer. There will be no freestyling. I won't go rogue. I will be very boring and well behaved. Just think of me as the newest member of the Bad Batch." Tech blinked at her, perhaps I said something to irritate her?
"Right," Tech finally said, after an excruciating moment of silence, "exactly." He gave Kelsa and his brothers a curt nod before closing the holoimage. He retreated back to the cockpit and began their entry into the Wayland system.
"Don't worry Kelsa," came the soft voice of Omega. Kelsa had been too busy fidgeting with her ring to notice the child approach her. She felt a warm hand settle on top of hers, stopping her fidgeting fingers. "We'll get your friend back." Kelsa couldn't help but smile.
"Thanks, kid," Kelsa chuckled, "I appreciate it."
Tumblr media
The shuttle landed about 60 clicks from the main bridgeway. Geared up, minus the helmets, and raring to go, the clones began to disembark. All except for Wrecker, Tech and Kelsa. What had stalled their exit was Kelsa's own gearing up process, namely her body armour and rifle. She wore a black body piece and vambrances, both made of beskar, and she had slew her E-10 rifle across her shoulder. She had gently begun removing her hair from underneath the back of her armour before turning to look at the clones. Tech decided to put his helmet on whilst she was getting ready.
Wrecker and Tech were staring at her. They were staring for far longer than would be considered normal. Tech could feel his cheeks heating beneath his helmet and it was not caused by the armour. I will have to check my vitals later, something is amiss, he thought.
"What?" Kelsa asked, putting her hand on her hip. She stared purposefully, her eyes lingering on each of them for a few seconds.
"UH-" Wrecker started, rubbing the back of his neck, "it's nothing. Jus' never seen a pretty girl in armour before." Kelsa laughed, an uproarious, and to Tech, mortifying laugh.
"That's not why I was -" Tech began, his finger raised.
"Seriously boys? You've never seen a woman in armour before? And that does it for you, does it?" Kelsa shook her head, her laugh even louder than before, and star
"That's not why I was -" Tech began again but Kelsa was already off the ship before he could finish his thought. He sighed heavily. Great.
As Kelsa approached Hunter, he raised his fist in order to halt the team behind the tree-line. A small battalion of clone troopers, six to be precise, were walking across the bridge and out into the green field that lay before them. One by one, they lowered themselves down and readied their weapons.
"How good is your aim, Seargent?" Kelsa whispered. Hunter's head whipped around and saw that she was holding an EMP grenade. He quirked his lips into a smirk and said, "good enough to hit one of those. How good is your aim?" She rolled her eyes.
"Good enough for this." Hunter nodded to her and gave the order. Tech was now crouched behind Kelsa, fully aware of what needed to be done. But she said it nonetheless, clearly not used to the intelligence of an enhanced clone. "Reckon you could give me some co-ordinates, Tech?" With a nod, Tech lowered his visor and replied "75, mark 191."
75, mark 191, Kela thought. She closed her eyes for a moment and centred her breathing. She had one shot. So, she stepped out, throwing the EMP. Hunter fired a second later. It was a direct hit.
The blast hit all six troopers. Falling to the ground, writhing from the shock. The troopers shook for a few moments and then stilled. Stunned and incapacitated. The team pushed forward. Kelsa grabbed one of the E-11 blaster rifles as they passed.
Six troopers down.
Only seven remained outside. They couldn't confirm the numbers inside the palace doors.
But outside, there were five on the bridge and two at the door.
Sneaking forward, bodies low to the ground, the group divided and took cover behind the marble statues on either side of the bridge. Remember, Kelsa thought, follow the orders. Don't deviate. I can't lose Beatiza. She steadied her breathing; it had been a while since she had been in any active combat. Not since the end of the war. Of the clone war anyway.
The troopers were marching down the bridge. She could hear their heavy boots crash in unison against the floor. It was an unsettling sound. She had no more EMPs. She only ever had room in her pockets for one. She didn't have the luxury of clone weaponry, despite her title as a weapons specialist.
That was not going to be an issue. Hunter gave Wrecker a command on their side of the bridge. A signal was given, a signal she obviously didn't know.
But Wrecker did. It was Wrecker's favourite order. Smash.
And so, with the gusto of a raging bull, Wrecker charged down the bridge. Kelsa desperately wanted to see what would happen next but Echo took point and was blocking the view.
She could guess what had happened next thought. There was the sudden sound of blasterfire, clones reporting a breach. The fire was shocking, speedy but brief.
The next sound she heard was that of screaming. Well, more like, screaming whilst falling would be the better way of putting it.
She laughed to herself quietly. "Wrecker is incredible," she whispered to Tech behind her.
"Yes, well, he may not like stealth. But he is more than equipped for a brawl." She laughed again. Although, that may not have been intended as a joke. Now she knew what that signal meant.
Hunter, Echo and Omega emerged from behind the marble statues and headed towards Wrecker guns raised. She noticed Tech circle around her, gun raised as he looked across the bridge. Only the guards at the door were left, but they had definitely been alerted to their presence. Heavy blasterfire ensued.
Tech looked at Kelsa, who seemed frozen in place. "Hunter and Echo will have no trouble with the guards on the door. We can go." But she didn't move, she wasn't sure why she couldn't move. Fear, probably. He gently offered her his gloved hand, which she took and he hauled her out from behind the statue.
His hand gave a gentle, reassuring squeeze before he let go.
Kelsa was shocked by the kindness of his action. They ran across the bridge side by side. He was right, Hunter and Echo did have them handled.
"AWH," Wrecker bellowed, "was that it?!" She had to admit, it had been extremely easy so far. Too easy.
Tech ran across to the remainder of the bridge to join Hunter and the control panel to the right of the door. The rest slowly closed in behind them.
Then Kelsa spotted him. The lone clone trooper aiming his weapon at Tech, as he worked on the door. Kelsa threw the E-11 blaster at the clone, smacking him in the head. Unsteadied, he fell off the side. One would assume to his death but people have survived worse falls. Darth Maul, for example, Kelsa was unhappily reminded of Satine. And Obi-Wan. A different era.
Tech turned spotting what Kelsa had done for him and offered a 'thank you' before returning to his work. He announced, "they have signalled for back up. We will need to work fast to avoid a real skirmish." Moments later, the door, dividing in the middle, flew open.
Tech turned back to Kelsa and said, "next time, you could just use the blaster to defeat the enemy."
"It was an E-11 Blaster," she said. He looked at her in confusion, so she justified that statement, "such an uncivilised blaster. No finesse. I wouldn't dream of firing one of those." As Tech shook his head, chuckling ever so slightly, Kelsa equipped her personal weapon and headed into the main hall, behind the clones and next to Omega.
As Kelsa looked around, she could not help but admire the splendour of the hall. Even if it was splendour built upon the suffering and enslavement of others. That would dampen her opinion, of course. There was white marble running down the centre of the hall, silver tiles laid in intricate patterns around it. Golden pillars ran alongside the marble steps which ran alongside the central walkway.
Her eyes drifted upwards and she could the light shining through the intricate stain glass window. Flickers of blue, yellow and pink glittered around the room, dancing in the light.
It was very beautiful, except for the next sight she saw. Beside the silver throne, she spotted Beatiza. The sight of Beatiza on her knees; her hands and neck cuffed. Kelsa's stomach dropped. Her friend looked awful. One eye was bruised and swollen. Even from a distance, she could see the cuts and scrapes all over her skin. Her clothes were ripped.
Kelsa's entire body was fuelled with a hot, blind rage. Kelsa tried to rush forward, but Tech placed his hand on her shoulder holding her back from an impulse decision. She looked at him with anger in her eyes but he simply shook his head.
And she knew he was right.
Damn it.
At the top of the room, all near the throne, there were four Zygerrians. Three standing, arms clasped in front of them and one, seated on the throne. That one, she knew. Of course, it would be him.
He stood as the Bad Batch grew closer.
"Ah, welcome." He spoke. "I am Alghom Tromas of the great nation of Zygerria. Thank you for returning my property to me." He raised his has as he spoke, pointing to Kelsa.
"Property?!" She yelled at him, "I am no-one's property!" She aimed her rifle at him before she heard it, the clattering of clone armour.
Damn it all.
Tech stopped her, with his hand on her shoulder again. He reached into her sight with one step and simply used one slender finger to point upwards to the balcony. The balconies on either side housed at least a dozen clone troopers, all with guns aimed at the team.
This was no longer the simple extraction they had hoped for.
"Return my friend to me, Alghom. We have no business with you." Kelsa knew this statement wouldn't work but she thought, fuck it.
"You promised to acquire my property, Kelsa. A contract was formed and you failed to deliver." Alghom stated and he seated himself back down on his throne. "That makes you my property by right, as forfeit." He raised his leg over the side of the chair and chuckled as he sat back. "Now, come. Join your friend in servitude. There is no need for your new friends to get hurt."
Kelsa looked at Hunter, hoping he had an idea. He returned her look with confusion, clearly relating to the statement Alghom had made. His eyes then drifted to the troopers, as if counting them.
"Any bright ideas anyone?" Kelsa tried to whisper. She flinched when it echoed around the barren hall. Thankfully, Tech then quipped, "I have a bright idea. Though, I fear you may not like it."
"So long as it works," Kelsa looked at Tech, ready to do whatever he asked. He nodded his head and continued, "for now, myself and the others will require some cover but we cannot do so without a distraction. You are a significant distraction."
Kelsa was going to try and not read into that statement too much.
"I need you to play along with his desire to capture you. Do not worry, I will not let him hurt you. Please, put down your rifle."
She lowered her blaster to the floor, the other hand raised in defeat. "Alright A-Alghom," her voice broke in fear, "you win. Just please, let my friends leave in peace. They have no quarrel with you." She stood up straight, hands raised and walked down the centre of the room. As she did so the Bad Batch retreated back, slowly, towards the pillars at the back of the room.
Alghom sneered with delight, swinging his legs together and leaned forward as if inspecting her. It was working, he certainly was distracted. "I don't want any more trouble. I - I just want to protect Bee." She used the nickname for damsel in distress emphasis.
"Come here, little one." He demanded. So she did, she continued to walk towards him. The lights from the window glittered across her skin. One of the three Zygarrians beside Alghom walked towards her and cuffed her hands. Another had procured chains which dangled beside them.
Kelsa was afraid now. What if the clones just left? She had given them the perfect opportunity to escape further battle.
As she knelt before Alghom, she looked back at the Bad Batch. Fear drenched her features and Tech could see it and he wondered if she thought they would leave. Certainly not, he thought.
With that thought in mind, he nodded to Hunter and Wrecker. Without another second passing, Wrecker had picked up Hunter and thrown him towards the left balcony. Gun in hand, Hunter took out two clones and his body pelted another two to the ground. Withdrawing his knife, he threw it at the remaining clone.
Blasterfire now echoed through the hall. Hunter managed to get one shot in to the other balcony, narrowly missing a trooper before taking cover.
They need a distraction, Kelsa realised. Something to draw their fire.
Without thinking, she charged at the three Zygarrians to the right of the Alghom and rammed two of them to the ground with the full force of her slight body. The clones were tasked to defend the Zygarrians so their fire was drawn to Kelsa.
Echo and Wrecker realised they had their opportunity and, from the corner of her eye, Kelsa saw Echo being thrown to the right balcony. He took out the remaining troopers with ease.
However, Kelsa was now stuck. Ducking and diving away from the attacks of the Zygarrians. She ducked and a dived as best she could but as they reached, punched, kicked and fought her, she realised she was outnumbered and Tech was occupied with the troopers who had come through the side door.
She was trapped.
Until, with the last of her strength mustered, Beatiza jumped on the Zygarrians, tackling them to the ground. Kelsa and Bee fought to keep them down and Alghom has risen. He had his whip in hand but seemed to frightened to use it.
As the blasterfire ceased, and the clones approached the throne, Alghom dropped the whip and raised his hands.
"Just," he sneered, "take them."
Tech held Kelsa up and held undo the bonds on her hands. He held her hands gently in his as he inspected her wrists for damage. Wrecker had picked up Beatiza and was already walking towards the exit.
As they all turned to leave, they could hear the shout of Alghom, one last time, as he warned, "BUT KNOW THIS, I will come for them and I will come for you, clones."
Tumblr media
They made if safely back to the Marauder. Wrecker had placed Beatiza in a chair and was removing the bonds that held her captive even still.
Kelsa couldn't believe it. It had worked. Beatiza was finally safe.
As soon as the shuttle took off, Beatiza threw her arms around her friends neck. Kelsa melted into the embrace. She was safe.
"I didn't think I'd ever see you again," Beatiza confessed, a tear running down her cheek. She buried her head in Kelsa's neck, who only pulled her friend closer.
"You think I'd leave you behind?" She gently moved Beatiza back, getting her to look at the soft expression on her face, "never."
Suddenly becoming aware of the group of onlookers, Kelsa jumped back and smiled at them in thanks. "Of course, you will be wanting payment. It is well deserved." She started fidgeting as she stood up and hugged each of them. None of them quite knowing what to do with the hands, heads or just their whole bodies really.
She headed to the cockpit and sat beside Tech. "You'll have to head to Alderaan for payment," she looked at him to find he was already facing her. "But you will receive what you are owed." Tech nodded before returning his focus to the shuttle, laying in a course for Alderaan. Once Kelsa was sure everything was sorted, she asked Tech to stand.
Sheepishly he did so. She threw her arms around his neck and pulled him close. She thanked him, like she had the others. He was awkward, like the others.
And yet, she held him closer than the others. Held him longer than the others. She kissed his cheek softly, unlike the others.
When she pulled back, she saw his confusion and laughed. "Thank you Tech." He pushed his goggles back up his nose and said "that was not quite as simple as we'd originally hoped."
Kelsa laughed and softly said, "no it wasn't, was it?"
Tumblr media
As they approached the apartment door of Kelsa and Beatiza's home, the Bad Batch were surprised to find that they lived in the affluent area of Aldera. It was certainly a step up from their temporary home in Ord Mantell. The front door was painted a dark green and was numbered, '99'.
An odd coincidence, Tech thought.
Wrecker carried Beatiza's sleeping form inside, doped up from the pain relief Tech had given her. He lay her gently at the far side of the sofa.
As Kelsa laid down her weapon against the counter, she turned and found the rest of the Bad Batch loitering at the door, sheepishly. She sighed softly before announcing that they should come on in.
"It's been a busy few days, so please come in and take a seat. Relax, make yourselves at home." She busied herself in the kitchen, pulling out two bottles of Alderaan Twist and some glasses. "Please have a drink. It's the finest twist you'll find." The statement confused the clones until Tech sighed and confirmed "the drink is called an Alderaan Twist. It is a delicacy here in Aldera among the high elite."
Tech wondered why Kelsa would have it. It didn't seem to fit the persona he knew. But the boys filled their glasses and settled onto the sofas and chairs, waiting for their host to return.
Kelsa entered her bedroom and fished under the mattress for her hidden credits from recent missions. She found a spare pouch in her bedside drawer and emptied all of her credits into it. She sighed knowing that three missions worth of credits were now gone. But that didn't matter Beatiz was safe.
As she walked back out of her room, her heart was warmed by the sight before her. Beatiz was awake but still lying on sofa, showing Omega and Hunter a trinket that she had picked up during our mission on Coruscant. Omega's looked of wonderment was incredibly sweet.
Wrecker and Echo were hunched forward in the two lounge chairs deep in discussion, clearly discussing the taste of the drink. Based on what she could hear Wrecker saying. She couldn't hear Echo.
Her eyes then trailed to Tech, the man she believed was truly responsible for saving her friend from, what Kelsa could only describe as accidental enslavement. Her eyes softened, he had the PADD in hand, leaning back on the sofa, reading. She would love to know what he was reading. Perhaps a question for later?
She gave a slight cough, to get their attention and the room quickly fell silent. Hunter stood and approached her, "your friend is a little bruised, but Tech thinks she will be fine with a bit of rest."
"Thank you," Kelsa smiled, "your payment." She dropped the money into his hand, and covered it with the other. Hunter frowned, he no longer felt like they should take the money for freeing an enslaved girl. She grasped his hand tight, knowing what he was thinking. "Please, " she whispered, "just take the money. I am a weapon's specialist and there is still a war brewing. No matter what the Empire says." She let go of his hand and he nodded.
They re-joined the group in the lounge area. Hunter resumed his position beside Omega, his hand clutching the sofa behind her in a fatherly fashion. Beatiza has switched to stories of their antics and Kelsa hoped she remembered to keep the stories...'child friendly'. There are some stories that no child should hear. God, even she wishes she didn't know them; let alone lived through them.
"If you're not in a rush to get back to Ord Mantell, I'd like to cook you a fresh dinner," you announced, look at Tech with a soft smile, "as a thank you."
"YEAH!" Wrecker yelled and bumped Echo's shoulder.
She could tell that they clearly did not often get home cooked meals. She could also tell that she wouldn't need to ask twice.
"That would be appreciated," Techo said. "I have some questions I'd like to ask you." "Okay..." Kelsa raised an eyebrow.
"Forty-seven questions, to be exact."
"Right. Well, you'd better come shopping with me then. I feel like this could take a while."

Chapter Three: Intro to Chores
Roy wasn't joking when he said he'd wake me up at four. I showered and got ready for school before joining him in the living room to fold everyone's laundry. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I didn't have much to say because I was half asleep. I don't think it bothered him. "You should wear a heavier sweatshirt. It's freezing out," Roy whispered. I nodded. "I'll get you some more stuff to wear over time. I'm just juggling a lot right now." "Are you okay?" I asked. Roy nodded. "Yeah, things are fine. It's getting close to the school's family week, and that's usually stressful... But it'll be fine once it's over," Roy explained. "Thanksgiving?" I asked. He nodded. "For some people, yeah. Some kids go home, and others get stuck here for the week, so we usually do something as a school family," Roy explained. I nodded. "Kids that don't have family... Like me?" I asked. "Some of 'em, yeah," Roy answered, "And I've been meaning to ask you... Are you willing to talk about what happened to your parents? I know it's a complicated situation, but I hope you know I'm not here to judge." He changed a lot during conversations. Roy could go from stern to painfully gentle in tone in seconds. I had to admit it was weird for me. "They told you what happened?" I asked. Roy set the laundry aside and nodded. "They told me you were there," Roy replied, "But I didn't ask for details. You seem okay, but that's what bothers me." "It doesn't feel real... I don't know. Maybe the court was tough on me because I didn't cry. I thought about that a lot during the trial, but it seemed like a shi—. It would've felt weird to cry just because everyone wanted me to," I answered. I felt like a monster saying it out loud, but it wasn't like we were the ideal family before—. Well, you know... I looked down at the laundry and tried to shrug it off. "Everyone grieves differently. It's not up to anyone but you to dictate what feels right," Roy reassured. I didn't know what to say to him after that, so I kept folding. "How'd you sleep?" "Okay... You're not tired?" I asked. "Exhausted, but I can't complain... Hey, Grant. Can you get the door?" Roy asked. I opened my mouth to say something, but just like that, someone knocked on the door. "How did you—?" Roy raised an eyebrow, and I did as I was told. You see what I mean, though? Roy was no nonsense. I answered the door, and Bart burst in. "HeyRoycanIborrowGrantforchores? Iwasgonnagotakecareofthepigs. Areyoubusy?" Bart asked. "Sure can... And nope. I'm not busy," Roy replied, "If this is about your points, I gave you ten for yesterday, and I'll give you another ten for today."
"Nuh-uh, it's not about that," Bart replied as he pulled an envelope out of his jacket pocket. "I need some stamps." "How do we ask?" Roy asked. "Can you spare some stamps, please?" Bart asked. Roy smiled and left the room. "You'll like the pigs. They're rescues." "Sick," I replied. "No... They're pretty healthy most of the time," Bart replied innocently. I chuckled and shook my head. "Sick like cool," I explained. Bart nodded. Roy came back and gave Bart a few stamps. "Here you go... Hey, Grant, put on a sweater. Bart's gonna show you the ropes," Roy commanded. I went to my room and grabbed a sweater before slipping my shoes on. "Oh, and Grant, I'll have your bag ready when you get back." I followed Bart down the brick sidewalk to the barn. "The stables are closest to Roy's place... Oh! You can meet Rusty," Bart pointed. "Is Rusty a horse?" I asked. Bart stopped at a tool shed and slipped on a pair of wading pants with boots. I copied him and asked him the same question a second time. "Nuh-uh. Rusty's a pig. I was here when he was born," Bart answered. "Gross," I joked. Bart smiled and handed me a huge bag of feed. The troughs were surprisingly clean. I poured in the feed and stared at the mixture. It looked like a dehydrated rice bowl. "What's in this stuff?" "Dried veggies, sorghum, corn... Stuff like that. We make our own feed. You can't just feed pigs whatever. I learned that from Roy when I came here," Bart explained. He seemed excited to have somebody to talk to, so I listened. Bart went on like that while he walked me through the process of cleaning the pig pens. A few other kids came through and cleaned up their designated areas, but Bart was done with his work by then, and he sat on the ground brushing a pig that was half his size. "This is Rusty," Bart introduced. The spotted pig made a soft snorting noise, and I couldn't help but smile. Hey, it was cute. A bell rang, and all the kids got up and took off the wading pants, hanging them up where we got them. I followed suit, and Bart took me back to Roy's so we could get my bag and walk to the dining hall together. "How was the pig pen?" Roy asked as he gave me my school-issued backpack. It had a big 'T' on the back for Titans. "Rusty's doing alright," Bart answered, "I think he was happy to see me." "Yeah, Rusty was a cool dude. I've never been that close to a real pig before," I added. Roy grinned a little half-smile. Roy was happy that I didn't want to run away. Bart rushed ahead to get breakfast. "Things are gonna be weird next week... Nothing's for sure just yet, but things will be... Strange."
"That's okay... I think I've made things strange for you this past week, so I can't really complain," I reassured him, "At least your weird seems okay." "You didn't mind working the pig pens?" Roy questioned. I shook my head. I just liked having work to do. Roy chuckled. "I forgot to ask earlier... You scared of horses?" "Never met one before," I replied. He messed up my hair and sent me on my way. "I'll catch up with you. Go get breakfast," Roy whispered.

For nahtanha on Ko-Fi, who asked: Obi-Wan and Cody, with one or both of them off their tits with sleep deprivation and doing something utterly silly. I'd prefer war era fluff but plz go where your muse takes you 💜
General Kenobi laughs, a tittering sort of sound that means danger and immediately has Steady’s hackles rising. Their General, typically, does not laugh. He certainly does not giggle.
The transports that have come to fetch them off this sithforsaken rock have finally arrived. It has been a bloody and harrowing seventy-some hours trudging through mud and sulfur-reeking pits, carefully evading Sepratist forces because they had known that they were brutally outgunned. The only victory they could hope for was a quick escape, but a storm had prevented their rescue from reaching their ever-changing position, as the Seps did not stop marching just because they were tired, and they certainly didn’t care that it was pouring rain, either.
So the General laughing—nay, giggling—right as rescue is in sight? Not a good sign.
Steady forces his way through the tight cluster of troops waiting to board, gunning for the front of the crowd where Kenobi is… hanging off of the Commander’s armored shoulders and pointing at the design on the side of the LAAT.
Lots of battalions paint their ships—lots of them paint their ships with pinups, even. So this particular artistic rendering of Senator Amidala of Naboo isn’t even that shocking. She is a fairly common muse, as far as Steady has seen. The image isn’t even particularly graphic—typical pin-up stuff, really. Her clothes are tight, her skirts flowing out behind her, a blaster clutched in her hands such that her arms are brought in close and her tits are pushed forward and up, her expression is severe and her lips are as red as the lacy item that winks out from behind the billowing fabric of her dress.
General Kenobi is staring, pointing, and giggling.
“Oh, oh, Cody, can you imagine? He’d—he’d—”
The commander deadpans, “He would cry.”
“He would—” Kenobi splutters, hysterical. “He would cry. Oh, Anakin—you’d think that given the circumstances of his early upbringing, he’d be a bit less… conservative, no? Cody, Cody, did I ever tell you how terribly Anakin hates Quinlan Vos?”
The commander makes an encouraging sound. “The Kiffar Jedi? With the arms?”
“With the arms, Cody! Yes! The arms! Yes, well—” “Sirs, can this conversation be had in-air?” Steady interrupts.
Both idiots turn to him, Kenobi a bit sluggishly. It appears as though the commander is supporting most of his weight. Was he injured? Steady hadn’t noticed anything particularly urgent, but if the General can’t even stand—
“Of course, my dear. Of course.”
The two of them stagger—stagger!—onto the ship and boarding resumes as normal. Steady follows them at a close distance. Something is decidedly off.
“Quinlan and I, we’re casual, you understand. We’ve been so since… oh.. Our padawan days, surely. And Anakin just has a sense for these things, for any hint of…” Kenobi snorts. “‘Impropriety’, shall we say. Poor child—how he came to believe that sex outside of a monogamous marriage was so taboo, I have not the faintest idea.”
“A coping mechanism?” Commander Cody muses.
Kenobi gasps, all faux-offense, and then snorts. “My dear, are you calling me a slag?”
“No, I’m calling you a slut.”
“A slut is a slag! Boil, dear, tell Cody that ‘slut’ and ‘slag’ mean the same thing,” Kenobi insists. Boil shoots Steady a horrified look. Steady shrugs and mouths, I don’t know.
“Uh,” Boil says, eloquently. “They’re… the same thing?”
“Thank you Boil. Where was I? Cody, where was I?” Steady has seen his General in some fucking states—blown up, shot, drugged, concussed, drugged and shot—but never this manic before. It’s like he’s taken far too many stims; he’s wired and chatty and has lost his fucking mind.
“You were being a slut with Quinlan Vos,” Cody relays, dutifully and with glee.
Kenobi makes a face that Steady would, under extreme duress, describe as “seductive”. “My dear,” he drawls, leaning in close to the Commander’s bucket and aiming a sultry look at it, “Are you pining for details?”
“Never,” Cody says.
Just then, the ship shudders to life and begins to rise into the air. Both men stumble and now Steady is worried.
“Bucket off, Commander,” Steady barks. “General, look at me. Did you receive any blows to the head? Take any stims?”
“No, nothing of the sort,” Kenobi answers and shies away from Steady’s small flashlight.
“He doesn’t need stims,” Cody grumbles. “He has ‘the Force’.” The quotations are not so much implied as they are explicit. Vod has the same attitude towards all things Force-related as most men reserve for sharp objects near their gettse.
Steady often wants to grab his vod by the shoulders and shake him until the stupid falls out. If you hate the karking Force so much, why’d you have to go attach yourself to a Jedi like a fucking barnacle, you di’kut? Much like a tooka that has fallen in love with a fish, the esteemed Commander Cody is doomed to pine after a creature whose simple conditions of existence are incompatible with his desire to live an unmolested life.
Finally, Cody’s bucket comes off.
Vode have fairly dark skin, especially compared to General Kenobi. At the moment, the shadows under Cody’s eyes are so deep and dark that they make Kenobi’s look like child’s play.
“Fierfeck, when was the last time you slept?” Steady blurts.
Cody blinks. “Me or him?”
“You!”
“You look pretty terrible, vod,” Boil adds, grimacing.
Cody turns a glare on him that could curdle milk. “I always look fantastic, Boil,” he says with deathly menace.
“You do, dear, you do,” Kenobi affirms. And Cody, the idiot, preens under the praise.
“Answer the question,” Steady says, snapping his fingers to get them back on track. “When did you last sleep?”
“You’re not allowed to ask me that,” Cody snaps, practically growling.
“The fuck does that mean?”
“Is this a fucking medbay, vod?” Cody volleys back.
“No, but now that you mention it, it looks like you’re in need of a visit,” Steady says, saccharine. “Now answer the fucking question before I skip the bitch-fest entirely and sedate your ass.”
Cody looks at him. Cody looks at Kenobi. Cody looks back and Steady.
“Kenobi hasn’t slept in four days,” Cody declares.
“Cody!” Kenobi hisses, scandalized. “Cody hasn’t slept for more than thirty consecutive minutes in four days! I have the Force to sustain me! It is hardly the same!”
“Manda save us,” Boil murmurs. “They’re so stupid.”
As soon as the transport is safely aboard the Negotiator once again, Steady marches his two idiots to the medbay by the scruff of their necks, cursing the Jedi and Jango Fett himself in every way he knows how.
“Both of you are getting an IV and a solid twelve hours or so help me, I will be dunking you both in bacta just for the fun of it,” he threatens. “Now is the appropriate time to tell me how many stims you’ve taken and when.”
Steady won’t do them all the embarrassment of asking why they have elected to forgo sleep entirely—this is war and the pressures on the pair of them are burdens that Steady wouldn’t wish on anyone. He knows why they’ve deprived themself of rest to this extent. It’s for the same reason as his own.
“None,” Cody says, proudly.
Steady looks to Kenobi. “Explain.”
“Cody had… objections to the notion that the Force can sustain a Jedi far past the limits of their physiology. He elected to—what was it you said, dear? ‘Prove that it’s all banthashit? I can do that, too, cosmic powers be damned?’”
Steady takes a deep breath and attempts--Fett help him--to release his rage to the Force.

au where vader cuts off cody's legs and right arm as revenge for obi-wan doing that to him on mustafar. and the cybernetic replacements are uh????? not kind. when he was chipped that didn't bother cody, bc a chipped clone doesn't let anything stop him from obeying the orders of the empire. but once he’s rescued by the rebels? even if cody didn't hate them purely bc they came from the empire, he'd need them gone
anyway, obi-wan and ahsoka call in a few favours from some of their mandalorian friends, and get cody some beskar prostheses. now cody can go up against an inquisitor with just his kicks

Kenobi Gen X Roundup!
So, uh, I went a little overboard for this year's Kenobi Gen Exchange (hosted by the lovely @texasdreamer01 and @pandora15) and wrote a total of 7 fics! Figured I'd do a little promo and share them all with you here (links + summaries):
You've Got A Friend In Me for DestielsDestiny: Bail is an ardent supporter of the Jedi Order, but even he still has some misconceptions. And while Obi-Wan has been to Alderaan many times, he's never tasted Bail's favorite dish. Both of these change -- not quickly, but over time, in a more lasting way.
[Or: three interactions between Obi-Wan and Bail in which they share cultures and grow closer as friends.]
--
twisted scream for @lazarusii: “Tell my dear Obi-Wan I said hello,” Ventress had purred in Ahsoka’s ear as she held the Padawan down. “Tell him I miss him and his screams.”
[Or: a comment from Ventress drives Ahsoka to figure out exactly what happened in the past with Asajj Ventress and Obi-Wan Kenobi. What she finds makes her regret looking into it in the first place.]
--
Lean on Me for MiaSirtnev: “Quin?” Obi-Wan asked, brow furrowed and gaze somewhat hazy. He sounded like he had been gargling razors.
“Wake up there, sunshine,” Quinlan said. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I got... hit with a speeder."
Quinlan nodded, sagely. “Probably not too far off, actuall--”
“I wasn’t finished.”
Quinlan rolled his eyes good-naturedly. “Sorry, go on.”
[Or: Quinlan takes care of Obi-Wan after a mission gone wrong. Cue holofilm nights, essay writing help, and not a few tears.]
--
sugar in an open wound for @hellowkatey: After rescuing Obi-Wan from Kadavo, Anakin keeps his Master company in the medbay, along with Ahsoka and their favorite holoseries: The Great Galactic Bake Off.
--
the night is cold, but wait for the sunrise for @deviantaccumulation: The is the first thing Cody registers is the alarm piercing the air, and with it his eardrums.
The next thing Cody registers is that it is fucking cold.
[Or: Obi-Wan gets hurt when he and Cody crash land onto a snow planet, and Cody struggles to keep his general alive.]
--
words are a gift that can be taken away for @texasdreamer01 and @pandora15: “Obi-Wan?”
A groan came from the bed. Blankets unfurled to reveal his Master was curled up in the center, limbs tight against his body and face creased with pain.
Shit. Anakin knew exactly what was happening now.
[Or: Anakin helps Obi-Wan through a bad migraine and its associated aphasia.]
--
relic for Blue_Daddys_Girl: “So why am I still here?” Obi-Wan asked.
“You have been captured,” Thrawn pointed out.
“But I am not being treated like a prisoner,” Obi-Wan responded. He had operated too many Star Destroyers to not know the protocol. There was a medical ward in the brig for a reason. He could have easily been treated there.
“No, you are not."
“So what am I?”
“An unexpected relic of a bygone age,” said Thrawn. “And I am somewhat of a collector.”
[Or: Thrawn finds Obi-Wan frozen in carbonite over a decade after the Clone Wars ended and the Empire rose to power.]
--
Go check out all the exchange fics, everyone! So many awesome contributions!

English, An Interesting Language Part 2
A/N: EGWEGKJNRGKJEN PART TWO IS HEREEEEE
UWU WE HAVE LOADS OF CHAOTICNESS IN THIS, WELCOME AND PLEASE ENJOY~
SUGGESTIVE? UH-DUHHHH!! XDXD
ONCE AGAIN I SHALL REPEAT, WE HAVE BOTH CHCH AND HEATBLADES IN THIS SHHSHSHSHSHSH
---
Three days after the…exciting commotion in the garage, Dani decided to add fuel to the fire and called EVERYONE down to the bunker.
.
.
.
.
Yes, she has found the book.
ONLY took her THREE DAYS.
Back to the story...
“GUYS, GUYS, GUYS! JUST COME DOWN ALREADY! I’VE GOT SOMETHING TO SHOW Y’ALL!!” She demanded, dragging Kade with her left arm while tugging Graham’s collar with her right. Charlie and Cody could merely sigh in relentment as the father-son duo watched the only girl in the their family SINGLE-HANDLEDLY take down two of the Burns’s sons.
“HEY, LET M-ME GO-HURKK!!”
“OW OW OW- DANI!!”
“HURRY ALONG ALREADY!!’ She huffed and dropped the two adults inside the elevator.
“Sis, you forgot the main point.” Cody gave an awkward smile, holding up a brown book for the sister to see.
“Oh, dear me! Can’t have this left behind now, can we?” she ushered them in and pressed the button, closing the elevator doors.
“And why, EXACTLY, must WE tag along? I was busy chatting with Hayley, damn it!” Kade grumbled, resorting to take a seat on the ground.
“I was solving a complicated equation and I nearly had it!!” Graham chimed in, frowning at his sister.
“Another word from the both of you and I’ll not hesitate to use MORE force.” Dani smiled sweetly sick at the two paling brothers.
Gulping, Kade and Graham nodded frantically, fearing for their lives.
Without another word, they reached the bottom and Dani came out first, leaving them behind as she called the Bots over.
“Hey guys! Care to spare a minute?” she asked, waving at her partner, Blades.
“Aww man! is it our turn to do air patrol?” Blades timidly asked, yellow optics portraying his reluctancy. “I thought we covered it…two weeks ago?”
“No, silly!” Dani giggled, making the helicopter relax a little. “I found the book!” she announced and took the book over from Cody.
“What book?” Heatwave gruffly spoke, raising an optic ridge.
“Dani, I don’t think-”
Charlie Burns kept his mouth shut when he saw the intense glare sent to his direction by the female pilot.
“What are we waiting for then? Let’s have a look!” Blades exclaimed, picking the tiny brown item up and opened a page. “Uh…okay, maybe not.” He grimaced in disgust.
“What do you mean NO?” Dani said in exasperation, snatching her belongings back.
“It’s filled with unknown phrases!”
“Blades, where have all my knowledge passed down to you gone to!?”
“What knowledge!?”
“Pop culture, genius!”
Blades made an ‘O’ shape with his dermas as he scratched his neck cables, chuckling dryly at the enraged femme.
“Do us a favour then; teach us.” Heatwave came to the rescue and saved the poor mech from a possible earful nagging. He saw the look of gratitude from Blades and felt a sense of pride within him.
“You’re welcome.” Heatwave whispered, earning a flustered smile from the copter-bot.
Eyeing the two bots suspiciously, Dani’s lips formed a knowing smile but she said nothing. Instead, she coughed out loud and drew the attention back to herself again.
“Alright, alright. Let’s start from the beginning.” She gushed. Flipping open the pages, the red-haired girl stopped onto a particular sentence and formed a smirk, confusing the bots and her family likewise.
“What?” Cody asked, seeing that his sister was staring at their father with a weird grin.
“This ain’t it, Chief.” She held back a snort.
“Wow. Really? Ha ha.” Her father replied sarcastically, not getting the joke at all. “Is that supposed to mean something?”
“OH, OH! I UNDERSTOOD THAT REFERENCE!” Blades announced loudly, slapping his knees before breaking into a larger grin. “Oh Primus! I made ANOTHER pop culture reference within a pop culture reference!? NO WAY!”
“You did and I’m proud of ya!” Dani winked and gave her partner a high five, earning a collective of groans from behind.
“Seriously? That’s ALL you had to show us?” Kade said impatiently, tapping his feet. “Welp, I’m out.” he threw both of his hands up and left the room with a huff.
“Sorry to break the band, but me and Boulders REALLY need to get some work done. See ya around, sis.” Graham politely excused himself from the group with Boulders tagging along.
“If there’s nothing else, I think I’ll go see Frankie. Bye Dani!” Cody ran off too.
“Dad…” Dani trailed off, giving her father a disheartened look.
“Perhaps we can have a continuation of this later at night, alright?” he patted his daughter’s shoulders and went up, leaving the sadden pilot alone.
.
.
.
.
.
“Tsk. Some wonderful family alright.” Dani tilted her head upwards, somehow not upset of her family leaving in such a hurry as she smiled at her partner.
“Uh…shouldn’t you be disappointed or something?” Blades leaned in, worried for his charge.
“Nope! Why should I?” she gave the mech a thumbs up. “Oh, by the way, you won’t mind if I borrow Heatwave for a moment, do you?”
“Why would I-”
“GREAT!!” Dani clasped her hands together before looking at the fire-truck. “Come on then!!” Sighing, he transformed and opened his door.
“Just get out from here, hurry!” Dani said giddily, buckling her seatbelts on.
“Why-”
“JUST DO IT!”
Groaning, the Rescue Bot leader obliged and drove off, leaving Blades dumbfounded alongside with a blank-faced Chase.
“Huh? That’s weird.” Blades noted, setting a servo on his helm. Chase said nothing and went to a corner, trying to process his thoughts alone.
Ever since the English lesson with Cody went downhill, Charlie has been avoiding him and it irritated the mech to no one. Heck, the aging Burns even drove the OLD police car rather than going on a patrol with him.
To put it simply, Chase is JEALOUS.
Growling, he figured it would be best to talk to the man now.
Activating his holoform, the police-bot strode upstairs with a target in mind; Charlie. Steeling his gaze, the mech-turned-human spotted his partner at the kitchen counter, sipping on his coffee in peace.
Not for long.
Waiting for the right moment, Chase dashed forward and trapped the startled man in between his arms.
“Chase!?” Chief Burns gasped, staring up to meet the mech’s eyes.
Taking away his cup of coffee, Chase narrowed his eyes and leaned in closer, minimising the space in between them.
“What a-are you doing!?” Charlie stuttered, holding his cup with both hands shakily.
“I want an answer, NOW.” Chase’s voice went down an octave at the last part as he glowered at the shuddering male. “Why did you avoid me? Why did you ditch me and used that DAMN old car which CAN’T EVEN FUNCTION PROPERLY!?” He snarled.
Blinking twice, Charlie slowly set his drink down and cupped the mech’s face. “What are you- wait…” the single father furrowed his eyes as he recollected the previous memories before raising an eyebrow at his partner.
“Don’t tell m-me…Y-You’re jealous…?” his words hit the police-bot hard and Chase snapped.
Slamming his servos onto the cupboard above them, Chase used the advantage of Charlie being stunned to grab him and brought the man into his (Charlie’s) room.
“N-NO WAIT-OOF!!!” Charlie felt the wind knocked out from his lungs as he laid on the soft bed, unable to move due to a CERTAIN mech having a death grip on both of his hands.
“How many times do I have to remind you that YOU. ARE. MINE.” Chase growled, straddling on top of Charlie. He went down and nipped the officer’s neck, eliciting soft whimpers from the man.
“Don’t you DARE take that car out without MY permission.” Chase ordered, shifting one hand to hold Charlie down while using his free servo to gently tip his head up. “I don’t like being REPLACED, sir.”
“I-I-I-”
“Ah ah ah! I am NOT quite done yet.” Chase smiled, displaying his sharp fangs for his partner to see. “We’ll call it over when I SAY SO. Understood?” he continued, enjoying the flustered look on Charlie’s face as the old Burns squirmed and struggled in his hold.
“EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you say will be held AGAINST you. With our SHARED experience, you know how I DISLIKE uncooperativeness.”
Without any further warning, Chase closed the gap.
Meanwhile, with Dani and Heatwave…
“Where are we going?!” Heatwave snapped. “I think we’ve left base pretty far enough, so spill it!” the mech said and switched off his engines, forcing Dani to tell the truth. The two were in the middle of Griffin Rock Forest with no one around them per Dani’s request.
“Okay then,” Dani leaned back and crossed her arms in front of her chest, creating an air of authority around her.
“You like Blades.”
“Yes- I MEAN -N-NO!!” Heatwave tried to backtrack, but it was too late; the damage has been done. Seeing the knowing grin on Dani’s face, the annoyed and embarrassed mech tried not to cave in.
“Maybe. A little. More average than normal. GAH- FINE!! I DO, OKAY!?” He relented.
“Good. Because if you didn’t then this would be useless for you.” Dani shrugged nonchalantly, not at all bothered of the mech’s tantrum.
“Huh?” That got Heatwave’s interest piqued. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, nothing much. Just some…ways to get the guy you like who JUST so happens to be MY partner, AKA we share some PRETTY nice details you’d like to know.” Dani slyly remarked.
“And WHY are you helping ME?”
“Because Dad’s too dumb and Chase is too innocent, so I need ONE man to do this job properly or I’m going to go berserk with all the tension in our base!”
(Chase may seem slow in understanding human culture but he SURE AIN’T ALL PURE AND VANILLA when it comes to Chief.)
Sighing, the mech let the femme out and transformed into his biped mode, turning his attention solely to Dani.
“What do you have in mind?”
---
TIMESKIP.
The two finally arrived back at base after a hefty conversation. With an encouraging smile, Dani winked at Heatwave and went upstairs, leaving Heatwave to deal with his…crew member.
“Heatwave! What took you and Dani so long?” Blades whined; his wings drooped low to the floor. The red mech fought all of his urges to reply and kept silent, choosing to settle in a corner to ‘brood’.
The memory of Dani’s teaching replayed in his mind freshly as he tried to focus. Composing himself, the mech took a deep intake as he felt a certain air-borne mech coming closer to his side.
“Heatwave!” Blades repeated, calling after his name again. “Are you ignoring me?” he asked.
The mech in question was still silent.
“I-Is it because I-I didn’t cooperate too well on our last mission? I swear, I wanted you to hold the grappling hook, not Chase! O-Or is it because I d-didn’t report to you y-yesterday? M-Me and Dani went out and returned late night! Wait, I believe you’re mad because-” Blades’s ramblings didn’t cease; just as foretold by Dani.
“When he starts yapping off, you inch closer.” Dani explained, making tiny hand gestures.
“And then?”
“That’s when you slowly set a servo on his shoulders AND,” Dani squealed out loud. “-Give him your award-winning smile AND tell him you did a good job!”
“…” Heatwave gave the swooning lady a blank stare.
“What?”
“T-That’s it?” he muttered, not at all getting the point of this. “How’s THAT going to get Blades to…fall for me?”
“Oh, don’t worry! Just do as I say, and the rest SHOULD come naturally for you!” she gave him a thumbs up.
“UH-HELLO!? EARTH TO HEATWAVE!?”
Snapping back to reality, Heatwave shook his helm and noticed Blades was tip-toeing, leaning in close as the yellow mech tried to get his attention.
“You spaced off for a moment there. Are you still m-mad at me?” Blades twiddled his digits together and looked at the fire truck with the saddest pout he could conjure.
“The rest should come naturally for you.”
Dani’s words rang in Heatwave’s processors as he grabbed Blades by the waist and pulled him in, locking dermas with the shocked mech.
Smirking, Heatwave casted a mischievous grin onto Blades.
“I am, indeed, mad.” He began, taking a step closer and dipped his helm lower, slightly bowing down at the helicopter.
“I’m mad ABOUT you.” he whispered, sending shivers down his target’s backstruts. “Infatuated and adoration doesn’t even measure up to what I’m experiencing when I’m with you. For that, I am furious; furious at how you got me intwined in your hands.” His optics dimmed.
“Perhaps I should remind you of one IMPORTANT thing, Blades; I’M in charge HERE.”
The leader of the Rescue Bot made a mental note to thank Dani for the tip as he went ahead, his body going on by its own as if it knew what to do from the start.
“And you’re my RESPONSIBILITY.”

Ahsoka couldn’t stop staring at him.
Vaguely, she knew some things about her lineage, although honestly, it always had felt like it was just her, Anakin and Obi-Wan. She knew a man named Qui-Gon Jinn had been Obi-Wan’s master, and that Anakin sometimes wouldn’t shut up about that guy. She knew that Count Dooku was Master Jinn’s, which was just so weird to think about, especially him being part of their lineage. Or supposed to be. It made some sense, on some level, she supposed, because Dooku had kept complimenting Master Obi-Wan, and she had even heard that the man tried to turn her grandmaster. It sounded ridiculous, Master Obi-Wan ever leaving the Order.
Master Obi-Wan didn’t talk about his own master that much. Apparently, he hadn’t even met Count Dooku until he had left the Jedi and the war was about to start. Anakin had only known Qui-Gon for something of a week and didn’t know him that well, despite the way he talked about him, one would have thought that he was not only Anakin’s hero but also knew him for a long time. She supposed it made sense that Qui-Gon would have had other padawans before her own grandmaster, he had achieved the rank of master and was around the age of sixty by the time he had died.
If Master Obi-Wan knew about Qui-Gon’s other padawans, he didn’t really say anything. Although then again, they had been in the middle of the war. There was not a lot of time for that sort of thing.
She wondered if Master Obi-Wan knew about Feemor.
Somehow, she kind of doubted it.
Ahsoka and Feemor had been sequestered in one of the rooms in the Healing Halls, as the glue on his cut was drying and she was trying to get her mind back in working order. She hadn’t answered him when he said he was Master Obi-Wan’s brother. She had just stared at him for a moment before completely changing the subject. He seemed to get a hint of some kind and didn’t pursue it. He told her that Rex was either prepping for or in the middle of a surgery, that it wouldn’t take very long as it was a rather straightforward and short surgery and explained a little more about the chips that had been in the clones’ heads. It made her sick. If Rex or any one of the 322nd had gotten those orders during flight…if Master Obi-Wan hadn’t warned her…she didn’t want to think what would have happened.
The fact that Commander Cody had attacked Master Obi-Wan seemed insane enough.
She wasn’t thinking of Anakin when she spoke again, and it had been nearly half an hour. There had to be something more to that. Perhaps he had a chip in his brain. Ahsoka couldn’t even imagine a thought on why Anakin would murder children without being forced.
“What do we do now?”
Feemor looked up at her, but he didn’t seem to have an answer. She figured he would suggest going back to the fight. It was a horrifying choice, she didn’t want to fight anyone, much less the 501st. They were her family too.
“We prepare,” a new voice replied, calm and stern.
Both Jedi glanced over. Rex was in his blacks, standing tall with a bandage slapped on the side of his head where the incision must have been. He looked scared and tired but determined.
“What do you mean?” Ahsoka asked.
“They have the near entirety of the 501st legion,” Rex pointed out, grimly. “Even with defensive positions and the defense of the Temple itself, the Jedi can’t hold out forever, especially with most of their warriors being out in the field with the rest of the troopers.”
“Evacuation,” Feemor pointed out, stroking his chin as he glanced at the floor in thought. Ahsoka stared, as it was rather reminiscent of Master Obi-Wan with the same action. “When Obi-Wan contacted Kamino before the battle started, he mentioned that we may have to flee. He also mentioned it when he talked to one of the troopers in the 212th, warning them about communications. I think he was certain we would have to. And I think he is right.”
Rex nodded, even though he had shot Master Feemor a look Ahsoka couldn’t identify. “Us three aren’t going to be a lot of help in the battle itself. We have to trust the leaders who are doing it for the moment to keep the others at bay. But we can get a head start on preparations for evacuation.”
“Obi-Wan’s 212th knows,” Feemor added, gesturing above them. “They are blocking all communications so they can’t get Orders. From what we can gather, the chips are activated when the Sith Lord says certain things and then can be activated if a clone trooper is near an activated chip of another. So right now, the 212th is relatively safe. The only problem is, I don’t think we will be able to contact them. If they followed Obi-Wan’s instructions, there is only one clone with communications, and I don’t think he will accept anything from anyone but Obi-Wan.”
“Let me guess,” Rex said in some sort of tone that was a mix of amused and flat. “Waxer or Boil.”
Feemor blinked. “Uh…Boil I think.”
“Knew it,” Rex muttered with a faint smirk. Given an odd glimpse, Rex just shrugged. “Pretty sure those two are General Kenobi’s favorites.”
“We should contact Jesse and the 332nd,” Ahsoka added, quickly. She already got up from her cot, a little dizzy, but continued to move. “We may still be able to save them.”
Feemor shrugged. “Alright. I’m sure Master Healer Che would be okay with us using her office for a holocall,” he continued, following Ahsoka into standing. Without another word, he turned towards the door. It took a few minutes to find her office – Ahsoka didn’t really know off the top of her head, but they did.
Ahsoka clicked in the number for her ship, Jesse and Echo’s forms popping up in the signature holo blue. “Commander!” Jesse greeted. “You just took a shuttle and hightailed it out of here. What happened? Were you going after Maul? You should have brought back up!”
Feemor glanced at the young togruta. “No. I didn’t go after Maul. Jesse, have you gotten any communications from anyone planet side?”
“No, sir. We blocked communications like you ordered. We weren’t entirely sure what you wanted after you left,” he admitted. “What is happening?”
“No, you did good,” Ahsoka assured. “There is a lot going on down here. I don’t have a lot of information but there are chips in every trooper’s heads and the Sith has been using that to brainwash them into killing Jedi.”
Both Jesse and Echo’s face fell as they stared at her wide-eyed. “Tup.”
“Yes.”
“Fives was right then,” Jesse whispered.
“It appears so,” Ahsoka replied mournfully. “It seems the orders are transferred verbally from a single source and then passed on as one chip is activated, they all do according to proximity.”
“We need to get them out,” Echo hissed.
“I agree but things are…bad down here.”
“Bad?” Echo questioned, warily.
Ahsoka hesitated but Feemor answered for her. “The 501st legion is laying siege on the Temple, killing Jedi.”
No one said a word for a long minute.
Feemor continued, speaking in the silence. Ahsoka didn’t know what to say, how could she? “We are going to be evacuating once we can press the troopers back and have an opening. You need to be ready to flee when it happens. I’m very sorry but if you stay, the Sith will enslave you.”
“I understand, sir,” Echo’s voice was quiet and soft. “We will be ready for your communications and ready to come down and help if necessary.”
“Thank you, troopers,” Feemor replied. “We wanted to warn you about this before anything happens. A lot of soldiers are activated but please, don’t give away your location. We can’t help your brothers without a plan, and we don’t have enough people to do anything yet.”
“Understood, sir,” Jesse muttered.
“We have to go,” Ahsoka finally chimed in. “I will contact you soon.”
The holo blinked out. “I know that was hard, Ahsoka,” Feemor said quietly. “And we will save as many as we can.”
“We have supposedly been trying to do that for the entire war,” Ahsoka grumbled bitterly.
Rex came to the rescue. “We should move.”
“We should rescue Anakin.”
Feemor’s head snapped so fast, both nearly thought he would break it. “Save him?” he asked, with emphasis. Rex tried to get them through the door and out of the office. He mostly succeeded. “What does he need saving from, Ahsoka?”
“I think he might be chipped,” she replied, a bit defensively.
“You think he might be chipped.” Feemor echoed, flatly.
It appeared Rex didn’t really know where he was leading the two Jedi, but all he knew is that he needed to get them moving.
“Yes,” Ahsoka pouted, her lip curling. “He was my master. I know him. He would never do something like this.”
“He is leading a massacre on the Temple, against the Jedi, against his family,” Feemor added. Rex shoots an uneasy glance at the both of them, slowly working through the halls.
“He wouldn’t… there must be some explanation.”
“What possible explanation could there be for this?”
“You don’t know him!” Ahsoka snapped.
“You’re right. I don’t,” Feemor agreed, fighting to remain calm. Tensions too high would do them no good, even she knew that. But she was frustrated, and this was much all too difficult for her to understand or wrap her head around. It didn’t make any sense. “But I don’t need to right now. I saw him lead the siege on the Temple. I saw him cut down Jedi like they were nothing. You and I both saw him murder a defenseless youngling and young padawan. They were children,” he pointed out, bluntly. There was no sugar-coating the truth. Rex’s jaw clenched as he looked behind at the two of them again. Feemor shook his head and his voice softened. “This is what it means to be a Jedi, putting others’ lives above that of one, above oneself. You didn’t see the look on Obi-Wan’s face when he had to fight Anakin.”
Ahsoka stared at him, her feet moving without her even noticing.
“He knew,” Feemor shook his head softly. “And it was tearing him up inside. You don’t have to trust me or take my word for it, but you should trust Obi-Wan. He does know Anakin. Better than you.”
She hated that he was right; that if anyone knew Anakin, it would be Master Obi-Wan. He raised Anakin since he was young. But that didn’t mean she wanted to believe it. There was nothing to be said for a few moments before Rex stopped in his tracks and the two jedi nearly ran into him. “What is it?” Ahsoka asked.
“Do you hear that?”
Once they settled into silence, they could hear faint banging against a door. The three of them ran down the halls towards the sound. It became apparent once they got closer, the door moving as someone was throwing themselves at it, furniture and debris blockading it. They all looked at each other curiously. As Feemor and Ahsoka used the Force to move the debris, Rex readied his blasters. The two Jedi swung to the sides of the hall, just out of sight. As the door unlocked and opened, several troopers fell out.
“Good soldiers follow orders,” one of them mumbled.
Rex narrowed his eyes, slamming the butt of one of his guns hard against him, knocking him out. Feemor and Ahsoka ran into the brief fray as well, Ahsoka tangling around one of them to knock him unconscious while Feemor sent a wave of a force suggestion to the others.
“These are 501st,” Rex realized.
“The Jedi have been trying to trap them instead of kill,” Feemor answered. “We should get them to the Healing Halls to get their chips removed. Perhaps they can give us some information on how to stop the attack.”
Ahsoka didn’t look at him for a moment but quickly hooked her arms underneath a body to move it. Rex and Feemor had an easier time but eventually, they had gotten the troopers to the medical rooms. Ahsoka didn’t leave their side as Feemor found a med droid free and practically pushed the droid over.
The surgeries were quick and efficient; it didn’t take much.
When the first soldier came to not a couple of minutes later, he had immediately burst into tears which quickly turned into full out sobbing. Rex looked a little shocked but knelt at the soldier’s side. “Hey, it’s okay, you’re okay now,” he tried to comfort him. It was to little prevail, as the trooper just kept crying into his hands, his shoulders shuddering and his chest heaving heavily. Feemor reached out towards his presence and projected better feelings. Calm, safe, peace. It only helped a little, as it was enough that the trooper could get himself to speak.
“We thought we could trust him,” the trooper let out, gritting his teeth. He was quaking near violently, trying to gasp in breath. “We thought he cared. About us…but…he…he doesn’t.”
“What are you talking about?”
“What is your name, trooper,” Feemor approached and asked, quietly.
“CT-.”
“Your name,” Feemor urged, softly.
“Impulse, sir,” the soldier responded, trying to keep down his cries. The tears still came but the sobs had died down.
“Hello Impulse, my name is Feemor. Can you tell us what you mean?” he asked, keeping his voice soft, although the jedi was fairly certain he knew who the trooper was speaking of.
“General Skywalker,” Impulse winced. “He…he led us on the Temple. We just killed everyone. No one is safe.”
Ahsoka’s face twisted. “He may be chipped or something, like you. We don’t know what is going on,” she tried, quiet and gentle.
The trooper stared at her, wide-eyed. “He was so angry when the Jedi put down ray shields at the doors and he couldn’t get in quietly. And when the jedi there spoke, he got frustrated and lashed out. He took my brother’s head clean off. He was just…just standing there! No one could do anything, no one even could even flinch! His head and helmet rolled to my feet. He was my batchmate, my best friend!”
Rex put a hand on the trooper’s shoulder and muttered quiet apologies but everyone could see his body became as stiff as a board. Ahsoka was nearly in tears as she stepped back, wide-eyed and horrified and Feemor stood up and ushered her away and out of sight of the two soldiers. She shook her head again and again. “It’s not possible.” She sounded more like she was talking to herself than anyone else, trying to convince herself that it couldn't be true. How could it be true?
“We don’t know what is going on yet,” Feemor assured but even he knew he didn’t sound very convinced. Ahsoka was fighting everything. From what she had learned, the chipped clones had been trapped inside themselves, unable to do much of anything outside of orders. Unable to express or speak when wanting too. Anakin seemed to be the opposite. But how could what she knew of Anakin be so wrong? “Is there anyone you can speak to for any insights or answers?”
“Padme,” Ahsoka replied, in realization.
Feemor’s eyes narrowed, confused. “Who?”
“Senator Padme Amidala,” Ahsoka repeated. “She’s a friend to the jedi and Anakin’s friend.”
She said friend like it meant something different. Ahsoka was pretty sure he understood what she meant. Ahsoka bounced back into Che’s office, the older master on her heels. She clicked in another number, but it took a few moments for the youthful face of the Senator to pop up. Her expression washed away into something of relief and joy when she saw Ahsoka. “Ahsoka!” she greeted.
“Padme,” Ahsoka smiled. “I have a lot to ask you and I’m not sure if I have much time.”
Her face turned to confusion. “What do you mean?”
“I’m on Coruscant-.”
“You are? Have you seen Anakin?”
Ahsoka frowned. “You don’t know where he is?”
“He has been acting stressed for the past couple of days. Obi-Wan has seen it too, he came to visit me about him the morning before he left to Utapau. Anakin has been under a lot of stress and having nightmares…I don’t know…”
“Nightmares about what?”
Padme hesitated.
“You can tell me.”
“I’m pregnant, Ahsoka.”
Although Feemor was off screen, he and Ahsoka exchanged looks. He wasn’t nearly surprised as Ahsoka thought he should have been. Did he know?
“He’s been having nightmares about me dying in childbirth,” Padme confessed. “He said he had found a way to save me, even though I told him I wasn’t going to die in childbirth. The likelihood of that, here, is…well, it doesn’t happen. Ahsoka, are you alright? It looks like there is smoke and fire coming from the Temple.”
Ahsoka glanced down. How to explain this. “The clones are chipped and brainwashed. They are leading an attack on the Temple.”
Padme gasped. “How? Why?!”
“The Sith have control over them,” Ahsoka’s eyes darkened at the thought. “But…that’s not all. Padme, Anakin is leading them. He is killing Jedi, masters, Guards…younglings.”
Padme’s eyes widened. “That is impossible, he would never do such a thing. You’re wrong. He wouldn’t, he couldn’t!”
Ahsoka couldn’t meet her eyes, but Feemor caught hers, a silent question passing between them. She steadied herself and looked back up. “I’ve seen him killing younglings,” she whispered, voice hoarse. “I…he’s turned to the Dark Side.”
The Senator just stared. And stared some more.
“My apologies, Ahsoka, someone is at the door. I must take my leave,” her voice was just a bit wavering, but she somehow kept a straight face. Ahsoka opened her mouth to try and stop her, but Padme interrupted her with little emotion aside from a strained voice. “I will call you later.”
Without anything else, she turned off the call.
Ahsoka swallowed. “I have a bad feeling about this.”

Altered Fates
Alternate Fates
Cody grinned as he watched Chase and his Dad pursue a speeding vehicle, it was some kind of new black/dark purple sports car and had been causing havoc around the island.
“Cody?” Came Frankie’s voice, before her head popped up above the ladder leading to the command centre.
“Hey, Frankie.” Said Cody, not taking his eyes off the screen, watching the car race through the streets, “Dad and Chase are chasing a speeding driver.”
“They haven’t caught them yet?” Asked Frankie, walking up to Cody’s chair.
“No, in fact, they’re barely keeping up with them.” Said Cody, watching the screen as the car suddenly stopped and spun around to face Chase and the Chief.
Cody watched his dad step out of Chase and walk up to the car. In the blink of an eye, the car transformed and shot at Chase, making the Rescue Bot transform and skid backwards. The other robot swung at Chief with his gun, sending the human flying into a rock.
Cody and Frankie stared at the screen, Frankie waited for Cody to say something, before looking at Cody. The boy was frozen, staring at the screen that showed Chase’s smoking form and his own unconscious father. The other robot walked towards Chase, before a helicopter hook snagged it’s shoulder.
Frankie frowned, leaned over Cody and pushed the comm button, “Graham, Kade, the Chief’s been hurt and so has Chase.”
“Frankie?! What are you doing on the comm?” Demanded Kade, “Where’s Cody?”
“He’s frozen, he just saw Chief and Chase get attacked by some new Robot.” Said Frankie, glancing at Cody, who was still pale and still.
“Heatwave, it’s not a robot,” Said Blades, as he avoided the shots from the robot, “It’s a Decepticon! AGH! I’M HIT!”
Frankie watched as Blades spun out and crashed into the ground. Cody trembled beside her; Frankie absently wrapped an arm around him. The Robot had started walking towards Blades downed form, before looking down the street, spotting the other two Rescue Bots, and drove away from them.
“Blades’s fine, he just in shock,” Said Boulder, “He and Dani will be taking the Chief to the Hospital, Heatwave and I will bring Chase back to the firehouse.”
“Yeah, and when we get back, Cody better explain why he froze!” Snapped Kade, making Cody flinch.

Ratchet grumbled as the proximity alarm went off, Miko paused her conversation with Jack and Optimus internally groaned, while Bulkhead, Arcee, Bumblebee and Rafael stopped watching Jack and Miko argue.
“What does he want now?” Asked Smokescreen, as he limped back from the training room with Wheeljack in tow.
“Prime!” Yelled Fowler, as he exited the elevator, “An issue’s come up on Griffin Rock, something about your rescue team being attacked by some unknown ‘Con.”
“I’m sorry, ‘Rescue Team’?” Asked Arcee, as Optimus closed his optics.
“They are the last four Rescue Bots in existence,” Said Optimus, getting everyone’s attention, “They arrived on Earth shortly after we lost Cliffjumper, they have been residing with the family of Maria Burns.”
“Uh, who’s Maria Burns?” Asked Miko, “And why haven’t we met her yet?”
“Maria was our original Human liaison,” Said Ratchet, getting Miko’s attention, “before she was killed by Roadkill.”
“Her youngest, Cody Burns, witnessed the attack,” Said Optimus, looking around, “I instructed Ratchet to erase the active memories of the incident.”
“I only supressed them,” Countered Ratchet, “I was only mildly successful considering his young age.”
“But what’s that got to do with this ‘Con encounter?” Asked Bulkhead, as Optimus exhaled.
“Perhaps, we should pay them a visit.” Said Optimus, before everybody got up, “I was referring to myself and Ratchet.”
“Sorry, Optimus,” Said Arcee, folding her arms, “but we’ll be pulling a Miko.”
“Yeah!” Cried the Girl, before freezing, “Hey!”
Optimus sighed, “Ratchet, do you still possess the portable Ground Bridge control?”
“It’s been collecting dust, but it’s still operational.” Said Ratchet, picking the device up.
AF
The Team had moved Cody down to the bunker, with Frankie being kept to the side while Dani worked. Dani flashed a pen light over Cody’s eyes, “I don’t know, Kade, Cody’s pupils are reacting to the light, but that doesn’t mean he’s conscious.”
“Well, what’s wrong with him?” Demanded Kade, as a green light illuminated the Bunker.
The group looked towards it, just as Optimus exited from the light source, swiftly followed by six Autobots and four humans.
“Cool!” Cried a Japanese girl, “You didn’t say they had an underground base!”
“Miko,” Said the giant green Autobot, “We only just found out about them.”
Optimus frowned at the sight of Cody, before crouching down and look closely at the boy, “Ratchet, what is happening?”
The white and orange Autobot crouched down at scanned Cody, “It seems that the memories I repressed are starting to surface, I suggest you restrain him until it’s over.”
“Restain- Why should we restrain him?” Asked Graham, just as Cody’s arm swung out and hit him as the boy screamed.
“That’s why!” Yelled Ratchet, grabbing Cody and holding his arms and leg together, “He thinks he’s seeing Roadkill all over again!”
“Why?” Asked the Blue, female looking Autobot, “The last time he was stock still and didn’t make a sound.”
“That’s what Cody did when he saw the Decepticon,” Said Heatwave, walking up to Optimus, “I hope Ratchet’s a medic, because Chase needs one.”
Ratchet looked around, “Bulkhead, hold him!”
The big green Autobot held his hands up, walked backward, inadvertently stepping on the pinball machine, and shook his head, “Sorry, Ratch, I can barely hold Miko without her complaining.”
A white and green Autobot huffed, “Give him here.”
The Autobot Transformed into Vehicle mode, everyone flinching as Cody’s head connected with the Autobot’s window.
“Uhh, oops?” Said the Autobot, as Miko started looking around.
“What is happening?!” Yelled Kade, making everyone look at him.
Optimus crouched down and look at Kade, “That, is a long and tedious story, Arcee, take Smokescreen and Bumblebee and search for Roadkill, Bulkhead, keep an eye on the Children, Agent Fowler, could you please contact Nurse Darby and see if she can come here?”
The dark skinned human nodded and pulled out his phone, while blue Autobot transformed into a Motorcycle and left with Bumblebee and the white and red Autobot, both transforming as well. Soon, the three were gone.
“Kade, several years ago, your mother worked for your united states government,” Said Optimus, as Dani and Graham joined Kade, while Frankie went over to the white and green Autobot so she was near Cody, “Her job was our official liaison to the humans, until she was murdered by Roadkill.”
“That Decepticon.” Said Heatwave, getting a nod from Optimus.
“Roadkill take particular delight in hunt and killing Humans, he targeted your mother because of some transgression.” Said Optimus, as Fowler spoke.
“She overtook him on a freeway.” Called Fowler, before returning to the phone, “Any of you bots flyers?”
“Blades is.” Said Dani, as Fowler nodded.
“I’m going to have to borrow him to collect Nurse Darby, she’s attending a conference in Maine.” Said Fowler as he took Blades to the roof.
“Roadkill followed your mother back to Griffin Rock, before attacking her.” Continued Optimus, before looking at the white and green Autobot, “Wheeljack, loosen your grip, if he dies before Nurse Darby gets here, I will not hesitate in throwing you under a mode of transportation.”
“I don’t think that’s how the saying goes, Prime.” Said Wheeljack, opening his window and loosening the seatbelt holding Cody. Cody curled into a ball and tried to make himself a small as possible.
Optimus frowned, “If the Decepticon is indeed Roadkill, his very appearance may have sparked Cody’s memories to resurface.”
“But why were they repressed in the first place?” Asked Dani, looking towards Cody.
“It was decided at the time that, given his young age, Cody wouldn’t be able to keep our existence a secret,” Explained Optimus, frowning, “an area of your government requested that he be made to forget about the incident.”
“Obviously, it failed.” Called Ratchet, as he examined Chase.
“So, to clarify, our mom was your previous liaison, was killed by a Decepticon and Cody witnessed it happen?” Asked Kade, as Wheeljack’s door opened.
Optimus looked over and saw Nurse Darby, and Chief Burns, checking Cody over.
“He’s just in shock,” Said June, before looking at Graham, “you might want to get some ice for that.”
Graham suddenly became aware of the throbbing pain in his jaw. June helped Chief Burns manoeuvre Cody out of Wheeljack and towards a chair.
“Wheeljack, go help the others with the search,” Ordered Optimus, before heading towards the communications area, “I will call in additional support.”
“Who else is here?” Asked Wheeljack, before speeding out of the Firehouse.
“I must say, Optimus, your team has no respect for road safety laws.” Said Chase, as he sat up.
“Optimus, if there is a Decepticon here, wouldn’t it be prudent to installed weapon systems into the Rescue Bots?” Asked Ratchet, looking up at Optimus.
“Perhaps, but it is their choice Ratchet.” Said Optimus, before the door to the communications centre closed.
AF
Arcee scanned the road, keeping an eye out for the Decepticon, Smokescreen was covering the north side of the island, Bumblebee was tackling the south and Wheeljack had taken the west, leaving Arcee with the east.
Fowler had made the consequences of them not finding the Decepticon clear, if the ‘Con got away, Cody, and only Cody would go into protective custody. Normally, the entire family would move, but the Rescue Team couldn’t leave the island, at any cost. Arcee spotted a familiar black/dark purple car make ahead, ‘Gotcha.’ Thought Arcee, speeding up to catch up with the Decepticon.
Roadkill became aware of an Autobot tailing him, the second on that night, and increased his speed. Before he could request a ground bridge, a black and white police car appeared next to him, before slamming into him.
“Roadkill to Nemesis,” Said Roadkill, “I’m being tailed by two Autobots, I could use a bridge.”
“Did you find the relic?” Demanded Megatron, his tone dark.
“The relic’s been gone for weeks, Lord Megatron,” Reported Roadkill, “this Island has kept an extensive record of every incident that’s occurred here. The Liquefier is long gone.”
The swirling green vortex of the ground bridge sprang into life, before Roadkill drove through it. Arcee and the Police car skidded to a halt. Both transformed.
“Scrap!” Yelled the Police Car, who bore a heavy resemblance to Smokescreen.
“Prowl?” Asked Arcee, getting the bot to look at her.
“Arcee.” Greeted Prowl, nodding at her.
AF
Optimus exited the Communications Centre to be greeted by the Autobots, Rescue Bots and Prowl.
“Sir!” Saluted Prowl, snapping to attention.
“At ease Prowl.” Said Optimus, looking at the tactician.
“Sir, I regret to inform you that the Decepticon known as Roadkill was able to escape capture.” Reported Prowl, “I have been following his trail for the past four Earth Stellar cycles, before I tracked him to this Island, where he escaped through a space bridge portal.”
Optimus sighed and closed his optics, “Chief Burns, I take it that Agent Fowler alerted you to the course of action that would be taken if the Decepticon would escape.”
“He did.” Confirmed the Chief, his tone flat.
“Wait, course of action? What course of action?” Asked Kade, looking between his father and Optimus.
“As long a Cody remains here, his life is at risk,” Said Optimus, looking down at Kade, “as well as yours.”
“So, what, we all go into hiding or something?” Asked Graham, confused.
“Normally, that would be the case,” Said Optimus, shuttering his optics, “however, as Cody is the only target, and that the Rescue Team has been assigned here, Cody, and only Cody, will be placed under Autobot Protection until Roadkill has been dealt with.”
“H-how long will that be?” Asked Dani, getting Optimus to look at her.
“I do not know, Danielle.” Said Optimus, “Hopefully, sooner rather than later.”
AF
Cody was silent as the last of his bags were loaded into Bulkhead, The Rescue bots had been given basic weapons, both ranged and melee, by Ratchet. Cody had already said his goodbyes to his family, the only ones left was Frankie and her family, since he hadn’t seen them since the week before.
“Okay, that’s everything.” Said Jack, looking down at Cody, “You okay, bud?”
“Yeah,” muttered Cody, despondent looking around is home for what could be the last time, “I guess I never thought I’d leave.”
“Don’t worry,” Said Miko, slumping against Bulkhead’s side, “There’s nothing the Bot’s can’t handle.”
“Miko.” Said Bulkhead, turning his engine on, “It’s time to go.”
Each human went to their Autobot, while Cody went back to say goodbye, again.
“I’m going to miss you so much.” Said Dani, as she held on to him.
“I know it’s probably only going to be a little while,” Said his dad, “But, I want you to know that we’ll always be with you, even if you’re a million miles away.”
Graham and Kade had opted for simple hugs, before Cody started making his way over to Prowl. The Autobot looked down at him and then at the Chief, “I promise, I’ll protect him with my very spark.”
Chief nodded, as Prowl collapsed into his vehicle mode, Cody was about to climb in when Frankie turned up.
“Wait!” Yelled Frankie, coming to a stop in front of Cody, “I, er, I wanted to give you this.”
Frankie held out a book, Cody looked at it. He opened the cover and a hologram of him and Frankie appeared, he turned the page and the hologram was replaced with one of his family and the Rescue Bots, the next was him and Uncle Woodrow and the one after was of Trex. Cody bit his bottom lip and wrapped his arms around Frankie.
“I’m gonna miss you.” Said Cody, into Frankie’s shoulder.
“I’ll miss you too.” Responded Frankie, hugging Cody back.
“Young Love.” Said Kade, before Graham elbowed him in the side.
AF
Cody looked around his new room, Prowl was sitting outside, keeping watch for Roadkill or any other Decepticons, almost every day, after school, Prowl would take Cody to the Autobot’s base, hidden in the Nevada Desert. Optimus and his team were looking for Cybertronian Relics, the most recent ones being keys of some sort, Prowl had been keeping an eye on Cody and hadn’t been able to take part in the search. Cody opened the holograph album Frankie gave him, looking at the images of his family and his previous life. He heard Prowl honk his horn, prompting Cody to shove the book in his bag, before heading out the door.
After school, Cody found himself in Prowl’s back seat with Raf, while Jack and Miko were in the front arguing, again. Prowl suddenly skidded to a halt, opening his doors, sending the human out of his interiors, before transforming.
“Starscream.” Hissed the Autobot, engaging his weapons.
“Don’t worry, I’m not here for you.” Sneered Starscream reaching for Jack.
Prowl shot him in the chest, before Knock Out lunged at him and jabbed the energon prod at him. Prowl shook the first two jabs, before the third, fourth and fifth sent him to the ground.
“It’s a pity we don’t have enough time to terminate him now.” Said Starscream, before he, Knock Out and a couple of Vehicons grabbed the Humans and placed them in jars.
The next few hours were a blur for Cody, with him and the other humans being taken to Cybertron, the Autobot’s being forced to surrender the relics and Omega Keys and Optimus destroying the Omega Lock, before the Autobots retreated. Back on Earth, the Autobot found the Decepticons had discovered the location of their secret base, which led to the Autobot’s evacuating the base. Cody watched the countryside race by, the book Frankie gave him resting on his lap.
“Where are we?” Asked Cody, looking to the open fields.
“Maine, we’re heading to Griffin Rock.” Said Prowl, his dash flashing as he spoke.
“But, what about Roadkill?” Asked Cody, looking down at Prowl’s dash.
“He was caught in the Spark Extractor blast when Smokescreen set it off.” Said Prowl, “And, frankly, you’re in more danger with me than you were when Roadkill was hunting you. Besides, it’s been a few months, I’m sure you’re dying to see your family.”
Cody smiled, as Prowl reached the ferry.
AF
Charlie sighed, Frankie had been temporarily filling in for Cody, since the last dispatcher had been neglecting to answer calls. Chase transformed, as Frankie slid down the fire pole, Heatwave, Blade and Boulder looking at the group.
“Another false alarm.” Said Chief, getting a collective groan.
“Again?” Demanded Heatwave, “How come all of the calls are false alarms?”
“Perhaps it’s because there’s a lack of training for your dispatchers.” Said Prowl, making everyone jump.
“Prowl!” Cried Blades, jumping to his feet, “It’s so good to see you, is Cody with you? How’s Bumblebee? Why are you here?”
“Yes, don’t know, and Cody’s no longer in danger.” Said Prowl, his chest opening, revealing Cody.
“W-wait, did you say Cody’s no longer in danger?” Asked Frankie, her eyes zeroing in on Cody.
“Roadkill was offlined during a recent battle on Cybertron,” Said Prowl, his door wings tilting downwards, “Ironically, the same battle led to our base being discovered. Cody would be much safe here, away from anything that may spark any conflict with the Decepticons.”
“Well, I’m sure there’s room for you here.” Said Charlie, as Prowl set Cody on the floor.
“As long as I’m not encroaching in your business.” Said Prowl, before collapsing into his alt mode.
Cody looked at Prowl, before looking back at his family. He was suddenly tackled by Frankie, the girl held him in a vice-like grip and buried her face in his shoulder, Cody found himself returning the embrace, he tried to ignore the warm fuzzy feeling in his chest. The two felt Dani join the embrace, followed by Graham, Kade and Charlie.
“It’s good to have you home.” Said Charlie, looking down at Cody’s head.
“Almost a year.” Said Kade, “I think you should’ve been away a bit longer, so you could gain a foot.”
Cody let out a wet giggle, before everyone detangled themselves and started to head upstairs.
“You missed so much, Daddy and Professor Baranova got married, The Pynche’s moved away, and Mayor Luskey almost set his house of fire, again.” Said Frankie, from her place next to Cody.
Prowl watched the group leave, before transforming and checking his scanners and frowning and then transforming back to vehicle mode again. Prowl hadn’t received any word from Optimus or any of the other Autobots, then again, they could be maintaining radio silence.
AF
Cody laughed at Dani’s story, especially when she accidentally hit Kade in the face. Frankie had gone home and would be returning tomorrow. Cody couldn’t help but miss Frankie’s presence, despite only seeing her an hour before.
“Since we’ve all had a busy day,” Said his Dad, “I think it’d be best if we all went to bed, we’ve all got work tomorrow.”
Everyone groaned but got up and started heading towards their rooms. Charlie grabbed Cody and hugged him, “You were gone too long.”
Cody hugged his dad back, “I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Said Charlie, before letting Cody go, “Go get some sleep, you’ve had a busy day.”
Cody smiled, before heading off to his room.
Outside, Prowl frowned up at the sky, stars were periodically going out and then coming back. The only explanation was that aircraft were passing overhead, but human aircraft usually had some form of sign on them that showed they were there.
Then a shot hit the island, followed by another and then another, then the Vehicons started landing and Prowl mentally slapped his helm. The Decepticons tracked him and, subsequently, Cody to Griffin Rock.
“What the-” Exclaimed Heatwave, exiting the Firehouse.
“Decepticons.” Said Prowl, arming his weapons, “I hope you got practice with your weapon systems.”
Charlie came running out, just as Prowl shot a Vehicon out of the air, “Chief, is there anywhere the Island’s population can hide?”
“The Sanctuary, it in the caverns under Griffin Rock.” Said Charlie, as Chase clipped another Vehicon’s wing.
“I suggest you move all of the people there, now.” Said Prowl, dodging a shot.
“Right, Rescue Bots, vehicle mode.” Ordered Chief, prompting the bots to transform.
“I’ll see about getting Cody to safety.” Said Prowl, as the other Burnses came running out.
“What’s going on?” Demanded Kade, looking around.
“Decepticon attack, get everyone to the sanctuary.” Said Chief, climbing into Chase.
The Rescue bots rolled out, leaving Cody with Prowl, “We best get you somewhere safe.”
“What about Frankie?” Asked Cody, making Prowl stop, “She and her family are in danger too!”
“I’m sure the rescue bots are more than capable of getting both her and her family to safety.” Responded Prowl, before seeing the look on Cody’s face, “Although, I could pick them up, but we’ll have to be quick about it.”
Cody gave a small smile, before Prowl transformed and Cody climbed in. Prowl gunned his engine and tore off down the street, using the gps to find his way to the Greene’s home, by the time Prowl and Cody got there, Frankie, her dad and Professor Baranova were taking shelter from a Decepticon that was trying to grab them.
“Cody, hang on.” Warned Prowl, before speeding up and ramming the Decepticon. Before the Decepticon had a chance to recover, Prowl transformed and discharged his cannon into the Decepticon’s spark.
Prowl looked towards Frankie and her family, “You need to get out of here.”
“Kind of difficult when a giant robot is chasing you.” Snapped Frankie, as Prowl transformed.
“T-there’s a new robot?” Asked Baranova, weakly.
“It’s rather difficult to explain,” Started Doc Greene, before Prowl cut him off.
“Not a robot as you know it,” Said Prowl, opening his door, as Cody climbed into the back seat, “We’re aliens, my name’s Prowl and currently your best hope of survival.”
Frankie climbed in next to Cody, as Doc Greene and Professor Baranova climbed into Prowl’s front, the latter still trying to process what Prowl had told her.
“Cody!” Gasped Frankie, wrapping her arms around the boy, “It was so scary!”
“Please,” Said Prowl, “A single Vehicon is nothing like dodging Starscream.”
“Starscream?” Asked Frankie, detaching herself from Cody.
“He’s the Decepticon Second-in-Command,” Said Cody, as Prowl made a sharp turn, “He’s usually the one who’s leading them into battle.”
“Fortunately for us, he isn’t.” Said Prowl, as he spotted the sea of people being ferried by the Rescue Bots, “I have to help them, go join the crowd.”
The four humans climbed out, allowing Prowl to Transform and start shooting at the Decepticons. The five Autobots guided the human to the sanctuary, before taking up guard positions at the entrance.
“I don’t understand,” Said Baranova, looking up at Prowl, “why are they here?”
“You know, I never actually asked.” Said Doc Greene, as Mayor Luskey was losing his temper as Chief Burns.
“Their original home was destroyed after centuries of war,” Said Cody, from the place he and Frankie had curled up in, “they came here to escape the Decepticons, except the Decepticons were already here.”
“But why are they attacking if they’ve been here for years?” Asked Dani, as she joined them.
“Recently the Autobots found a way to restore Cybertron,” Said Cody, feeling tired, “they had to find for Omega Keys and take them to something called the Omega lock on Cybertron.”
“The Omega lock had the power to restore Cybertron,” Said Prowl, crouching down, “we could’ve gone home, but then the Decepticons used the humans against us. Megatron had Starscream kidnap them and take them to Cybertron, where he threatened to expose them to the hostile atmosphere unless the Autobots handed over the relics and the Omega keys. In the end, our leader, Optimus Prime, was forced to destroy the Omega lock, to prevent Megatron from Cyberforming Earth.”
“Okay, so then what happened?” Asked Kade, as Prowl’s door wings slumped.
“The Decepticons discovered our base and, as a final precaution, Optimus had us all evacuate with the humans, each to a different set of coordinates, before remaining behind to destroy the Ground Bridge.” Said Prowl, making the Rescue Bots bow their heads, “If I am correct, Megatron would’ve destroyed our base and, upon finding the lack of Autobot bodies, commanded his warriors to hunt each and every Autobot down.”
“Then, well, then why are you still here?!” Demanded Luskey, making Prowl look down at him, “Go! Leave! Begone and don’t come back!”
“Mayor Luskey,” Said Prowl, “Need I remind you that myself and the Rescue Bots are your best, and probably only, line of defence against the Decepticons.”
The Mayor went red and started puffing up his chest.
“The Mayor’s suspended the entire Rescue Team,” Said Chief Burns, “On the grounds that we deliberately deceived the island about the Rescue Bots.”
“So, basically,” Said Kade, leaning against Heatwave, “you’re saying that we can leave at any time?”
“Yes!” Shouted the Mayor, his face resembling a beet, “Now leave!”
“Perhaps this should be a Town decision.” Said Prowl, looking at the humans.
“Fine, all in favour of the Aliens leaving, say ‘aye’.” Said the Mayor, before realising that he was the only one with his hand raised.
“All opposed?” Asked the Chief, which made everyone else raise their hands.
“Well, that’s decided.” Said Heatwave, loading his pistol, “Someone’s coming.”
Prowl and the other bots joined Heatwave at the entrance, each pointing their weapons at the intruder.
“While I appreciate your prudence, Soldier,” Said the Bot, “I must remind you it is against regulation to aim a weapon at a superior officer.”
Prowl gasped, before lowering his cannon, “Impossible.”
Ultra Magnus looked over the five Autobots, quietly noting that four were from a Rescue team, before directing his attention to Prowl, “Not impossible, Soldier, however the military protocol remains, despite the state of Cybertron.”
Prowl snapped into a salute, “Apologies, Sir.”
“Prowl,” Asked Cody, looking up at his Guardian, “Who’s this?”
“This, Cody,” Said Prowl, before Ultra Magnus could speak, “Is Optimus’s Second-in-Command, The Commander of the Autobot Elite Guard and Leader of the Wreckers, This is Ultra Magnus.”
“Are you here to help?” Asked Cody, looking at Ultra Magnus.
“Soldier, do all of the Natives of this world share the same disregard for Military Protocol?” Asked Ultra Magnus, frowning at Cody.
“If you don’t like me, then you’re going to hate Miko.” Said Cody, frowning back at Ultra Magnus.
The Commander leaned back and raised an eye brow at Cody, who copied him.
“Prowl,” Said Ultra Magnus, looking at the Tactician, “How well trained are these Bots?”
“They’ve received Basic combat training, Sir,” Said Prowl, “However, they did lead the Human Population of this island to safety when the Decepticons attacked. Sir, if I may, how many of us did you find?”
“I have already collected Arcee and her Human friend, I have also located ten other signals, present and mentioned included.”
“Out of twelve.” Muttered Prowl, before looking up, “I was unaware that the Decepticons had already found one of our comrades so quickly.”
“But Autobot signals can’t be detected if they’re shielded.” Said Heatwave, walking up to the pair, “And, frankly Sir, you’re going to need every Autobot you can get.”
Prowl looked over at Cody, before crouching down, “Cody, I think it’d be best if you remained with your family, at least until we’ve dealt with the Decepticons.”
Cody frowned, but nodded. Prowl looked over the humans, “I’ll also speak with our liaison about having everyone taken to safety.”
Chief nodded, before Prowl followed Ultra Magnus, leading the Rescue Bots away with them.
“This could be the last time we see them.” Said Cody, as the last of the bots vanished from view.
“Well, we do have Monopoly to help pass the time.” Said Doc Greene, making everyone groan.
“I’m pretty sure I investigated a murder because of Monopoly.” Mutter Chief Burns, making Cody giggle.
AF
Cody and Frankie glared at each other.
“Cybernucleic isn’t a word.” Argued Frankie, as Cody shook his head.
“It is, it’s what the bots are made of.” Said Cody, as Kade handed Graham $200.
“No, they’re made of alloys.” Reasoned Frankie, folding her arms.
“No, just ask them when they get back.” Said Cody, before pointing at one of Frankie’s words, “Besides, there’s no way supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a word.”
“It is, it’s in Mary Poppins.” Said Frankie, as Cody frowned.
“I don’t know what that is.” Said Cody, making Frankie stare at him.
“That’s a lie, we watched it together!” Protested Frankie, before glaring at Cody, “Waaait, do you know how to sleep with your eyes open?”
Cody gulped, as Dani cackled and sent Kade to jail, “Nooo…”
Frankie gasped, which was when Cody decided to run for his life.
“GET BACK HERE!” Yelled Frankie, chasing after Cody.
“Cody, Frankie, don’t run too far, the ground in the north part of the cave isn’t stable!” Yelled Chief, as Cody and Frankie ran off.
“Young love, am I right?” Smirked Kade, before Dani slapped the back of his head.
Cody was a few feet ahead of Frankie, before his foot went through the ground and he fell onto a metal surface.
“Oh my god, Cody are you okay?” Cried Frankie, stopping at the edge of the hole.
“Y-yeah, I’m alright.” Said Cody, his foot slipping slightly. The boy looked around him, his eyes stopping on a crest that was emblazoned in the metal, “Frankie, I think we just found a ship.”
“A ship?” Asked Frankie, as Chief Burns and Doc Greene came over.
“Yeah, the crest has the Autobot symbol on it.” Said Cody, before he looked at what he was standing on. The metal was a deep red, with a long barrel pointing out of it. The red metal also had an Autobot symbol on it, before Cody looked up and saw two blue optics looking down at him.
“Wwwhheeerrrreee aaarrree wwweee?” Slurred the Autobot, starting to move.
“Y-your on Earth,” Said Cody, before recognising the Autobot from Prowl’s recording, “You’re Warpath, aren’t you?”
Warpath nodded, before groaning and starting to move, “Blaster, report in.”
A low groan emanated from the dark, before a blue visor lit up, “Did someone get the number of the station that hit us?”
A couple of ropes rolled down behind Cody, before Chief Burns and Kade slid down. An Autobot with black wings, yellow chest, black and grey legs and red arms and head stumbled forwards.
“Blockrock,” Said Blaster, his mouth plate retracting, “deploy.”
A red coloured hexagonal barrel fell out of Blaster’s chest, before transforming into a bird, “Find Steeljaw and Eject.”
The bird nodded, before flying off.
“What’s the status of the Space Bridge?” Asked Warpath, carefully shifting Cody in his hand.
“The Controls seem alright; I can set about waking everyone up and evacuating.” Said Blaster, as Chief Burns cleared his throat.
“As interesting as this is,” Said Chief Burns, as Warpath and Blaster looked at him, “I think we should talk.
Warpath looked at Cody, before reaching up and grabbing Chief Burns and Kade, after depositing the three humans on his should, he hauled himself out of the hole, as more of the ground gave way. Frankie scrambled away as Warpath climbed out of the hole, followed by Blaster.
“There’s more of them?!” Demanded the Mayor, before flinching at the combined glare of the towns people.
After putting the three humans down, Warpath crouched down in front of them, “I take it you’ve met our kind before.”
“Yeah, the Rescue Bots.” Said Chief Burns, making Blaster stare at him.
“That’s impossible,” Said Blaster, frowning, “All the rescue teams were exterminated by the Decepticons, those that survived joined the other Autobot forces, during the War for Cybertron.”
Warpath looked over the humans, “How many Autobots are there on Earth?”
“Ten out of Twelve.” Said Cody, making Warpath look at him.
“What do you mean out of Twelve?” Asked Warpath, as Blaster checking a panel on his arm.
“Ultra Magnus came and took Prowl and the Rescue Bots to fight against the Decepticons.” Said Cody, just as Blaster caught a signal.
“When was this?” Asked Warpath, leaning closer to Cody.
“About three days ago.” Said Cody, as Blaster cleared up the Static.
“Attention Autobot forces, Optimus Prime is alive and quite well.” Came Ultra Magnus’s voice, making Cody grin.
“I’ve got a lock,” Said Blaster, looking at Warpath, “If I go now, I might be able to make it.”
Warpath nodded, prompting Blaster to run out of the cave and transform into a Cybertronian Jet, “I’ll work on getting everyone else awake.” Warpath looked at the Humans, “I don’t suppose any of you could help with that?”
AF
It was another day before Blaster returned, with several ships and transports from the Military.
“They should be in here,” Said Blaster, as he led the humans to the cave, “Unless they’ve all gone into the Axalon.”
A large white Cybertronian stepped out and paused when he saw the Humans, “Warpath, it looks like more humans have arrived!”
“They’re here to evacuate the Island, Jetfire.” Said Blaster, as Warpath, adorned with small, giggling children, came out.
“About time, too.” Grumbled Warpath, as Prowl brushed past him.
“Cody?” Called Prowl, looking around for his charge.
“Over here.” Said Cody, covered in dirt, “We tried excavating the ship.”
“Turns out too much of it buckled when we landed.” Said Afterburner, ripping a piece of metal out of the rock, “It’s a minor miracle that no one was killed.”
“We’ve come to collect everyone,” Said Prowl, kneeling in front of Cody, “The Islanders are going to be put in with the Jasper evacuees, at least until we finish fixing the damage.”
Cody gave a small smile, as the people were led out by the military, each of the Burnses were reunited with their partners, Frankie and her family being placed with an Autobot called Quickshadow. Before long, everyone was on a ship taking them to refuge area that housed other people that had their homes taken by the Decepticons.
“The secrets out.” Said Prowl, standing next to Cody, as the ship rocked, “Humanity as a whole now know that we exist and, subsequently, are demanding to hear from Optimus Prime.”
“What happens now?” Asked Cody, as Quickshadow walked over to him and Prowl, Frankie not far behind.
“Optimus has plans for a joint Human-Autobot community,” Said Prowl, frowning, “he had hoped Griffin Rock would be that community, but obviously that didn’t pan out.”
“In a way,” Said Frankie, stopping next to Cody, “It did, the Autobots that we found in the Sanctuary were able to get help from Humans and vice-versa.”
“Even the mayor warmed up to them.” Laughed Cody, remembering how Kup and thrown a ‘cy-gar’ at the mayor.
“I think that was because he was scared of what Kup would do to him.” Said Frankie, as Jetfire, Afterburner and Blaster flew above them, performing arial displays to keep them entertained.
“Boulder and his human have already started designing the architecture for the community.” Said Quickshadow, as the silence lapsed, “I believe they plan on calling it ‘Autobot City’.”
“Let me guess, they’re going to have Metroplex act as the base for it?” Was Prowl’s sarcastic response.
“I didn’t ask.” Said Quickshadow, “But, it would provide homes for everyone that was affected by Decepticon attacks, past, current and future.”
“Your family could be the responders for that city too.” Said Frankie, giving Cody a nudge.
“I can’t wait to hear what Raf thinks of this.” Smiled Cody, as the ships made it to port.
“You’re going to be seeing him soon,” Said Prowl, transforming, “so, you don’t have to wait long.”
“Can I go with them?” Asked Frankie, looking up at Quickshadow.
Quickshadow shrugged, “It’s Prowl, so you’ll be safe.”
Frankie grinned and climbed into the seat next to Cody, “This is so cool.”
“I believe you’ll get along with Miko.” Said Prowl, driving off the ship.
AF
Frankie grinned at the sight of the finished Autobot City, a large number to Autobots were already there, most likely the crew of the Axalon, along with Team Prime and the Wreckers. Everywhere was built for Humans and Cybertronians, schools, hospitals, even police stations. Some of the Autobots had left Earth after defeating Megatron, restoring the core of Cybertron and starting to rebuild the formerly dead world.
The Rescue Bots, the crew of the Axalon and some members of Team Prime had opted to remain on Earth. Frankie jumped out of Quickshadow, running inside the new Firehouse, giving a quick greeting to the Rescue Bots, and running to the Command Centre.
“Cody, you’re not going to believe-” Frankie quickly covered her mouth, as Cody was respond to a call.
“-no, Mr Ericks, I don’t think you’re crazy,” Said Cody, pinching the bridge of his nose, “I’m sure that as soon as something bright and colourful goes by, the animals will charge that. Graham, there’s been a breakout at the zoo, they’re currently staring at Mr Ericks Christmas lights. Autobot City Emergency Response, how can I help? Mrs Neederlander, I’ll get Chase down to move Kup along, but he is old, so he may have to be towed. Judging by your silence, I take it that Kup’s just driven off?”
Frankie giggled, Kup, while old, had a habit of tapping into called between Autobots and Humans and really hated being towed.
“Autobot City Emergency-” Cody ripped the headphones of his head, “What the Pit, Rewind?!”
There was a cackling from a couple floors below.
“Oh, hey Frankie.” Said Cody, suddenly noticing her.
“You’re not going to believe this, but Daddy just met an Autobot who can remove his head!” Said Frankie, getting a smile from Cody.
“That must be one of the new arrivals from Cybertron.” Said Cody, as Frankie dropped herself on top of him, “Hey!”
“If you really wanted me to move, I’d be on the floor right now.” Said Frankie, getting comfortable.
Cody grunted, before answering another call, “Autobot City Emergency Response, how can I help? A fire at Maccadams…I want to be surprised. Kade, Heatwave, Maccadams is on fire. Again. Hotspot and Inferno are already en route, but know Maccadams…”
“On it.” Was the joined response of the pair.
“Where’re the others?” Asked Frankie, as Cody reached around her.
“Dani and Blades are on a rescue, Dad and Chase are on patrol and Blaster and his ‘kids’ are in the lower levels.” Said Cody, as Frankie leaned against him, “Are you comfortable, or do you want me to move?”
“I’m comfortable.” Said Frankie, getting a groan from Cody. He hated puberty.

Title: The Tour Guide Rating: General Audiences Words: 1577 Pairings: Bumblebee/Blades Summary: With Earth and Cybertron finally safe, Bumblebee officially joins the Rescue Bots Academy as a full-time mentor. Naturally, Blades overthinks everything except how much he may mean to his old friend.  External Reading: FFN , AO3  Author’s Notes: @secretsolenoid for @toraokami303 !! So sorry it’s late. ;u; The prompt was Blades helping Bee unwind by taking him somewhere scenic on Griffin Rock. In the end, it ended up being more about how they got to going somewhere scenic than the actual scenic location, but I hope you enjoy it all the same! I also included a reference to one of the other prompts of Optimus relaxing, because I almost did that one instead. Yes, absolutely, Optimus needs a vacation. Let this mech rest.
“…And that’s the plan to get Bumblebee to stay at the Academy full-time when he comes to visit tomorrow!” Blades said with a flourish, gesturing once again to a map of Griffin Rock, pinned haphazardly to the wall of his quarters and absolutely slathered in sticky notes, looking to Cody for a reaction.
Blade’s map included the site of every daring adventure Rescue Team Sigma-17 had gone on (that Bumblebee hadn’t accompanied them for).  A variety of other dangerous locations were also noted, and Blades seemed a little too hopeful something bad would happen at one of them during the tour… not that there was any way said tour could really be completed in a day; it had taken the copter-bot all afternoon just to explain it. Cody smiled, concerned but amused. “I thought Bumblebee already agreed to teach full time?”
Blades straightened up and stammered. “W-Well, I mean, technically yes, but I need to show him just how exciting Griffin Rock is so he doesn’t even think of changing his mind!”
Cody leaned forward in his seat on Blades’ berth. “But what happened to all of the things you said you wanted to do with him when you had time? You never got to sing karaoke together, or play video games, or just… take a walk and catch up without some disaster cutting you o-“
“Booooring.” Blades waved his hand dramatically. “I told you I wanted to do those things years ago¸ Cody! You were like… half your height!” He crossed his arms and took a dignified stance. “I’ll have you know you’re not the only one who has matured since then.”
“Uh huh.”
It only took Cody staring his old friend down for a moment for Blades to sink on his pedes. “…And, well… Bumblebee is a war hero now. I mean, he already was, and of course even before that he was my hero, but now he’s saved Earth and Cybertron twice! Which means his tour has to be twice as impressive! I still can’t believe he’s going to be coming here to teach with us when he could be signing autographs or going on late-night talk shows, or… or…”
Blades’ started pacing. Once again, Cody knew, Blades was overthinking things, but saying that would just make him overthink more. He frowned and tried to choose his words carefully. “It just doesn’t seem like you included much time to be yourself and spend time with your friend.”
(And obvious crush, Cody thought, but he wasn’t going to open that can of worms when Blades already looked like a single additional atom of anxiety could make him shatter like glass. Now was not the time to meddle.)
“Whaaaaat, of course I did! I’ll be giving him the tour and being my whole, extremely cool and heroic self the entire time!” Blades looked at the map again, perplexed. “Was something in my pitch not clear? Do I need to go over it again?”
“N-No!” Cody shot up from his seat with placating hands. “No, I got it the first time, buddy, and I just remembered I have… a thing. In a place. Somewhere el-”
Cody was saved from thinking up an elaborate excuse by a knock at the door.
“Blades? You in there?”
It was Bumblebee.
Blades squeaked and looked at the wall clock. 6:30! Bumblebee arrived half an hour ago and he wasn’t there to welcome him! The medic scrambled to the door of his room, Cody all but forgotten, smashing the button to slide open the door. “B-Bumblebee! You’re here!”
“Is everything okay? Figured you’d be outside when I-”
“When you got here! Right! I meant to be and then I just…” Blades put his hands on his helm in a panic. “I am so sorry, I-!”
Bumblebee stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Blades, cutting his flailing friend off and chuckling. “Easy, pal. I was just worried is all.”
“…Oh,” Blades responded meekly.  Bumblebee pat him on the back and Blades sunk into the reunion hug, returning the embrace with a tight, long squeeze before backing away. “Yeah, I was…uh…” He rubbed the back of his helm sheepishly.
Cody smirked. “Blades was just telling me about the elaborate tour he was going to take you on, all over Griffin Rock, just the two of you.”
(Okay, maybe now was the time to meddle just a little bit.)
Blades’ fans clicked on and he glanced at Cody with equal parts betrayal and flusterment before turning his attention to the map that had looked brilliant up until the moment Bumblebee entered the room and now looked like the rambling mess of a crazed fanbot. But Bumblebee had seen it, no turning back now. “Right! Exactly!” Blades scrambled over to the map and gestured to it. “There’s so many places I wanted to show you and so many stories I haven’t told you yet! I figured tonight you’d get settled in, and then tomorrow we could start at Old Canyon Road. One time, Jerry was transporting a truck full of chattering teeth and uranium, and…”
Bumblebee stared at the map with a flat expression and drooped optics.
“…You don’t look excited.” Blades frowned.
“Oh, uh, it looks awesome Blades,” he said with a forced smile, “and we should totally go check all of these things out, but…” Bumblebee chose his words carefully – Blades had clearly put a lot of effort into this, no matter how casual he tried to act about it now. As it was, he felt bad for not putting on a face for his friends’ sake sooner. “Was the plan to do all of this in one day?”
“…Too much?”
Bumblebee smiled, amused, much like Cody had before. “Maybe a little.” The helicopter sighed and his shoulders slumped. “Hey,” Bumblebee put a hand on Blades’ shoulder. “I’m not shooting it down or anything, but what’s the rush? I’m here full time now, remember?”
“I know, but…” Blades looked away from Bumblebee, to Cody, who coaxed him to keep going. “Bumblebee, you’ve gone on so many amazing adventures and saves worlds and I’ve just… I can fit nearly everything I’ve done on this map. I just thought if I didn’t show you how exciting life with us can be right away, you might change your mind and go find something cooler to do.”
Bumblebee stared at Blades for a moment. He always knew Blades looked up to him, but how long had he been feeling this down on himself? “Blades,” Bumblebee closed the distance between them, smiling softly. “I didn’t agree to teach at the Academy because I thought every day would be some big adventure. Heck, if I’m honest, I’m kind of glad that I can finally relax a little, you know? Even Optimus has been taking it a little easier.”
Blades blinked at the idea of Optimus relaxing, momentarily distracted by the strange mental image of the idolized titan chilling out with a data pad in an oil bath with a cup of high-grade. In a less serious discussion, he wouldn’t have been able to keep a straight face, but they could talk about that later.
“None of us wanted to be fighting a war forever,” Bumblebee continued. “Besides, Griffin Rock is a nice place and all, but I didn’t come here for the island…”
Bumblebee took Blades’ hand in his with a gentle squeeze, and Blades’ optics instantly locked onto his incredibly soft ones.
“…I came here to spend more time with the people I care about.”
Blades almost fainted right then and there, because when did the bot he admired more than anybody else come to care so strongly about him in return? “O-Oh… In that case… maybe tomorrow we could take a walk and catch up…?” Blades stared at their hands for a moment, and found himself emboldened to interlace their fingers, but once he had he didn’t have the nerve to look up at Bumblebee’s reaction.
(Cody smiled and quietly made his exit while the two bots were focused on each other. Now was definitely the time to meddle.)
But, after a moment that felt like an eternity, Bumblebee bent down into Blades’ field of vision, smiling.
“Why not now? You can’t tell me you don’t know a great place to watch the sunset around here. Then after, maybe we could finally get around to that karaoke session you always talk about?”
And with the way Bumblebee looked at him, the way he said that – his hushed voice and piercing optics - it almost sounded they were discussing a date.
Or maybe Blades’ imagination was getting away from him. Either way, he knew his answer.
“That sounds perfect.”

Saw Cody/quin and brain had nice record scratch AGAIN so dragon!quin/Cody after the rescue and obi wan is making waggly eyes at both of them bc hmmmmm you two look awful close
“Sir,” Cody says, frozen in the face of his general’s wide eyes and rising brows. “Uh. I can explain?”
Obi-Wan looks from Cody to the Kiffar sprawled across his lap, exhausted but finally sleeping peacefully. His gaze lingers on Cody's hand in Quinlan's hair, Cody's grey uniform jacket spread carefully over Quinlan, the way Quinlan's hand is tight around Cody's wrist even in unconsciousness.
Deliberately, Obi-Wan props his shoulder against the doorway, crosses his arms over his chest, and drawls, “Oh? Do tell, Commander.”
Kriff. Cody casts around for a decent explanation, but can’t find one that covers all his bases. “He was tired after his transformation, sir, and he said he couldn’t go to the medbay.”
“No,” Obi-Wan says, and he’s smirking beneath his beard. “I suppose he couldn’t. The fact that he found someone else to comfort him in such a trying time is quite the relief.”
“Yes, sir,” Cody says awkwardly, but he doesn’t move. Quinlan managed to get ten whole squads out of range of the Seps, putting himself on the line each time he went back for more, and Cody had seen the impact against the dragon’s purple-and-gold hide, had seen the way he faltered, and thought—
But it’s fine. Quinlan survived, and Ghost Company is safe thanks to him, and he’s more than earned the right to sleep on Cody's lap for a while. Even if Cody feels like squirming under Obi-Wan’s smirk.
He curls his fingers a little more tightly in Quinlan's hair, turns his hand to grip Quinlan's wrist in return, and meets Obi-Wan’s eyes squarely. “Sorry, sir. I—I think I need to stay here for a while.”
Obi-Wan opens his mouth, but before he can say anything, Quinlan grunts. He curls more tightly into Cody, and says, rough and displeased, “Get lost, Obi-Wan.”
“Excuse you, that’s my commander you're drooling on,” Obi-Wan says, offended, though Cody can see the humor in his eyes. “What if I need him?”
“Then you can get karked.”
“Quinlan, my word. What would Master T'ra say if she heard you using such language?”
Quinlan groans, loud and pointed, and pulls Cody's jacket up over his head.
Obi-Wan is outright smirking now, not even trying to hide it, and Cody can feel heat creeping up his own cheeks. He still doesn’t move, though, just resettles the jacket and strokes Quinlan's hair, and when Obi-Wan’s brows rise even higher, he musters up all of his composure and asks, “Was there something you needed, General?”
“Just to see where my favorite commander and my best friend had gotten themselves off to,” Obi-Wan say breezily. “And here I find you, looking so close. It almost makes me wonder about those reports from the other day, of a dragon on the plain, and then some rather alarming noises that came afterwards—”
Cody can't physically stop the flush that washes up his cheeks, and he groans, thumping his head back against the wall. They weren’t that loud. Probably. Mostly. Maybe.
“Obi-Wan, if you keep standing there, I'm going to show you what those noises were,” Quinlan says, annoyed, and slowly, painfully heaves himself up just enough to turn and glare.
Obi-Wan snorts, but his smirk hasn’t faded. “That threat would be far more impressive if you could move at all,” he says. “How many rounds did you take flying evacuations?”
“Too many,” Cody says quietly, and draws Quinlan down against his chest this time, wrapping his arms around him. Feels the hitch in his breath that’s all pain, bone-deep bruises that the bacta hasn’t fixed yet, and grimaces, dragging his jacket up to cover Quinlan's shoulders again.
“Well,” Obi-Wan says, soft, and when Cody glances up, his smirk has shifted into a faint smile. “I suppose I can tell when I'm not wanted. Cody, I’ll have Waxer take over your duties for the rest of the day, seeing as he escaped the battle uninjured. Rest. Both of you.”
“Thank you, sir,” Cody says, and Obi-Wan smiles at him, then pushes away from the door and lets it slide shut. There's a quiet click as he activates the privacy light, and Quinlan sighs against Cody's collarbone.
“Guess he’s not entirely a bastard,” he says, like Cody can't feel the way he’s smiling, too.
“I guess not,” Cody says, bemused, and tucks his face into Quinlan's hair, breathing in the scent of smoke and clear skies.

This is something I just thought up, enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------
Thank God for your parents. Them having other children after you gave you the perfect amount of experience to handle the situation you were in. Your younger brothers, specifically, have helped you unknowingly.
There in front of you stands a Clone. But not just any clone. Marshal. Commander. Cody. THE Marshal Commander Cody. You aren't one of his brothers, you're just an officer delegated to Communications and occasionally getting one very finicky control console to work who, despite not being sentient, only works for you. Thanks Dad for teaching me some of your Mechanical Know-How. But anyway...
Marshal Commander Cody. SIC to General Master Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. A highly skilled man. Trained to be able to take droids, or people, down extremely easily. Even though some people look down on clones not ONE person can say something bad about Cody in front of his face. Hes intimidating. He commands respect from COUNTLESS clones and he.
Hes got the same look your little brother gets after a really bad day at school.
Eyes glazed with just enough water to seem wet but not to the point of tears, blank stare through time and space. His posture isnt different but he probably is used to having to hide in his helmet. The ever so slight quiver of his bottom lip, most people wouldnt even notice. But you do. You always do. Its the exact same expression. And you can read it like a book. That faces says that he really just wants to be hugged tight and told its gonna be okay and go to sleep but hes not gonna ask for it. Hes hiding it well but youre used to seeing the signs. Sometimes your little brother, Gil, doesnt know how to ask when he needs help. He pushes people away. And your parents do their best, but they've got four other kids and their jobs, they don't catch everything. So then it becomes big sister to the rescue. Who had the time, patience, and energy to help.
And it seems like noone else notices whats happening to the Marshal Commander. You pay attention to the briefing of course but also keeping an eye on Cody. After the briefing youre just close enough to hear Cody dismiss himself as well, saying that he needed to get some work done. At that the plan is set into action. First stop? The Officer Lounge. You grab a cup of caf and put a lid on it. You stop by the officer barracks and grab the nice blanket your mom sent in a care package and swiftly continue towards the Clone Barracks.
There are horror stories told about the Clone Barracks by officers. That they'll eat you alive. That once a new recruit wandered in and was never seen again. Stupid things. But that doesnt mean walking into a hallway of barracks where you really stick out isnt scary. Their gazes are burning into you at all angles, curiosity, confusion, the occasional glare. You finally found the Commanders door. Looking both way you knock first. No answer. You know hes in there because the light of the pad beside you is on. Indicating someone is inside. You knock twice more with the same result. A sigh leaves your lips and you weigh your options.
Open the door yourself and possibly get yelled at. Potentially invade his privacy. Or leave and forget any of this happened. The second option seems more appealing. But then you remember why you came. Seeing his face in your memory. The look of pain in his eyes. Seeing your little brother in him, despite the commander being three times his size and much more intimidating than your dorky little brother. Taking a deep breath to steele yourself you gently and slowly open the door. Hes sitting on his bed. Head in his hands. In the dark. Just like Gil. And a gruff voice calls out.
"What do you want"
"Commander Cody?"
Apparently not the voice he was expecting because his head shot up.
"Can I help you? Is there something you need? I'm sure that-" you cut him off with a wave of your hand.
"No! No I dont need anything, its just," you sighed, no going back, "At the briefing today you seemed a little off, I thought you might need a little pick me up?" You offered with the still hot caf held out to him.
"I brought you some caf, and my extra blanket, its weighted and it always helps me so if you wanna borrow it..." You trailed looking away and then back to see him still staring at you.
"But! Thats-thats only if you want to, you dont have to I just, it helps me and I wanted to..." you stuttered and rambled while flailing your own free hand around.
"Thank you"
You stopped and stared at the man. The look was back. And oh how it hurt.
"I-Thank you, that's very thoughtful" Cody furrowed his eyebrows and scratched the back of his head. You extended the caf to him again, he took it and just held it in his hands.
"How-how did you know? How could you tell?" He asked, oh so softly. Running a hand down your cheek you gesture to the bed next to him and he nods and scoots over.
"Uh, well" you start and sit on the cot, you place the blanket down next to him and think back to Gil, "I'm the oldest of 5 kids in my family, and my parents try their best. But they dont always catch everything, what with having five kids and my mom and dad own a business and other family issues" you explain.
"Sometimes I step in to help, I dont have to. But I care, and they are important to me", you smile thinking about your younger siblings. Your parents were always so adamant about you not having to help. But at one point your grandfather got sick, had to come live with you. You wanted to step in to alleviate the stress. You lean back against the metal walls and looked at Cody.
"And you, sir", knocking your hand against the plastoid of his armored arm you shift to fully face him, "You had the same face that my little brother makes when hes had a really tough day and just wants to talk about it"
Cody chuckled taking a sip from the caf.
"Sorry if its not all that good, its just the caf they supply officers and I also dont know how you like your caf so..."
"No, no its fine, thank you" he whispers, he's so tired. You can see it in the way his eyelids flutter. "I can't really talk about what I do, it's confidential" hes slouching where he sits, soon you can see his head slightly bopping up and down. Resisting the pull of sleep.
"That's fine, you dont have to" you reassure patting him on the arm, you lightly rub your thumb in the crease between the armor and his blacks.
"Can you tell me about yourself then? Whats your favorite caf? Do you like bolo-ball?" You ask quietly, you move to sit in front of him on the floor. By slowly lowering your voice you should be able to get Cody to relax and fall asleep, it works for your. The big commander humms and slowly explains that he likes his caf with sugar but never can find any so he drinks it black mostly. He, like most of the clones, are loyal to the Corosaunt team. His voice getting softer and softer with yours as he went on. You hummed sweetly and looked at his armor. That can't be comfortable to sleep in.
Tapping your finger on his knee plate, and unfortunately reeling him back out of the sweet embrace of sleep. You ask if you can remove his armor, following that you didn't have to if he didn't want you to . Cody nods drowsily and croaks a yes out. You perch on your knees and begin to fumble with his leg armor.
"Please Cody, tell me more about Waxer and Boil" you prod gently while slipping your fingers into the magnetic locks. You had a nurse friend who had often had to remove armor from the clones due to them being unconscious. He had complained about how sometimes the locks would stick and explained how to get them unstuck. Not that you needed to know at the time, but it was useful right now.
Cody rambled on about Waxer and Boil and how sometimes Obi Wan would loose his lightsaber in battle.
He pouted, "Its rich because he always, always says 'The lightsaber is your life' to Skywalker..."
You giggle and stand up, he sighs and goes to lay back on the bed. Drunk in exhaustion. You had removed most of his armor, him removing things you couldn't.
He inhales and looks back at you, having sat back down next to the head of the bed. Cody lets out a sigh and continues to ramble, at this point his words are getting mixed up and jumbled. He had begun to explain how he got upset at all the paperwork he had to do and battle plans to make and military personnel to kiss up to, but you stopped him.
"Thats confidential remember?" You whispered, brushing a stray hair away.
"Thas right, you" he clumsily pointed up to you, "youre a good person"
Smiling you grab his hand and bring it to lay on his chest, "Thank you Cody, so are you" you softly pet his hand.
He turns onto his side and ever so slowly you see him slip into a peaceful sleep. You stand and lightly laid your blanket over him. It was muscle memory. Remembering all the times your parents had to work late or were focused on helping a sibling or relative that was sick and you had to put the others to bed. You tucked Cody in and gingerly lifting his head to move his pillow under him. After making sure he was covered you laid a kiss on his temple. Youre eyes snapped open and you tensed your back.
Why did I do that? You looked down at the man and he was still peacefully sleeping. Shaking your head you sighed, stupid muscle memory. You moved the cup of cold caf further on the nightstand next to his bed just incase her flailed an arm and he knocked it over. You brushed hair from his eyes once more before moving towards the door. Opening the door just enough for you to slip thru you turn down the lights and leave, shutting the door on your way out. Turning you bump into Obi Wan.
"Oh! Im so sorry General" You quietly stutter before moving past him.
"Oh please, I shouldnt have snuck up on you" he assures, "I must say thank you though, I noticed what you did"
Flushing you nod and continue out of the barracks.
The next day you wake up and go through all your duties. You had to make the control console work three times because it decided today wasnt a good day. Some shiny bumped into you in the mess, spilling all your food over you. You had assured him it was fine. All of your clothes were dirty so you had to continue the day with slightly gravy soaked clothes. Over all the day wasnt very good, and you just wanted to go to sleep.
You walk into the Officer barracks stripping down your uniform and tossing it. You washed all of the sticky feeling off of you, changed, and went to just pass out. Once you reached your bunk you see a piping hot caf on the nightstand and her blanket folded on her bed. Laying neatly on the blanket was a card. Opening it showed a simple message.
'Thank you, if you ever need anything dont hesitate to let me know
- Marshall Commander Cody'
You smile and curl up on your bed with the caf and your blanket. You can tell this is the begining of a beautiful friendship.

Can you do a fic for the Bad batch when they rescue Echo from Skako and he joins them? But people have heard of Echo and what he went through, but instead of feeling bad they bully Echo for his body and appearance and act disgusted by him when they actually see him (the Bad batch knows about this). The reader meets Echo and befriends him. Echo finds out that the reader lost her home in the war so he asks her to join the Bad batch so he can be with her.
------------------------------------------------ Can I just say sorry to Echo for writing some of this stuff it made me so sad 😭 ------------------------------------------------- The Bad Batch; Echo Asks (Fem) Reader to Join The Team ------------------------------------------------- Warnings: Body Image Angst ------------------------------------------------
After General Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex and The Bad Batch rescued Echo from the clutches of the Separatists they brought him back to Anaxis while some of his brothers like Rex greeted him with open arms others weren't as kind, most not only thought he was a traitor who sold out the Republic but also that he was now just like the droids. There have been decommissioned clones with cybernetics but never like this and they definitely weren't allowed to serve in missions, instead, they were delegated to cleaning or maintenance, something they all thought Echo would be better suited for. While the Bad Batch was still unsure of where Echo's loyalties lay they didn't pay any mind to his appearance, themselves being so different from every other clone. During Echo's short recovery on Anaxes he ventured around the halls and different rooms of the base, hoping to gain back some of his strength and balance, he didn't realize doing so wouldn't end very well for him. As he walks through the halls and enters the gym he's called out by some nearby clones who were hanging out by some equipment. At first, just calling him a traitor or separatist scum, he was fine with that, but it was when they started saying other things that it got to him. "If you like being a droid so much why don't you go join them again." "You're more terrifying than Grievous!" "They should put you with the R-2 unit, you'd fit right in." "You aren't even a clone anymore." They continue to belittle him, even though he tries his best to ignore them their comments hurt, their words dig deeper into him that the metal in his body... -As he turns around and heads back out towards the medbay they continue to shout at him, making more rude comments and jokes, he doesn't look back but suddenly their voices stopped, --the Bad Batch had heard the shouting and went to investigate, once they discovered what was going on they told the other clones to stop, Wrecker might have had a hand fist in getting them to shut it. He returns to the medbay, but he just can't rest, he can't escape their words, even if they aren't following him anymore their words still echoed through his mind... What if they were right, what if he was a traitor, what if he got his brothers killed, what if he wasn't fit for service anymore. He knew if the Kaminoans had their way they'd just kill him, would that be better, it might free him from this darkness, from their words. Maybe he could prove himself, that even with this body and what had happened that he was still a good soldier, that he'd do anything to save his brothers. He decided to suit up in the new armor Rex got for him and head off to the meeting room, he knew they would be having a discussion about how to win back Anaxes and he was their best hope.
After a successful mission to take back Anaxes the Bad Batch fully accepted Echo and made sure everyone knew he wasn't a traitor but a hero. Since Echo no longer felt like he belonged among regular clones he decided to join the Bad Batch, shortly after he met you, on one of the many war-torn planets they were sent too during the final weeks of the war. --You were employed as a civilian medic in GAR, mostly going to planets where the fighting had already ended, you'd help the civilians, clones, and once in a while a Jedi. It wasn't the best job in GAR, being very stressful and difficult whenever someone didn't make it but it would keep your mind busy from other thoughts. -You'd lost not only your family and home along with most of the people you ever knew when the Separatists attacked your world. When the Republic came to save your people it had already been too late, there wasn't much left to save at that point, so you'd requested to join the military hoping to escape the pain that you felt from being on your planet. Currently, you were stationed on a medical outpost in the outer rim, today you got to see some new faces, they said they were clones but they looked very different from the other clones you had seen. -You found out they were a special squad called the Bad Batch, one of their members called Echo needed a routine checkup so they had to stop at the outpost before moving on to their next mission. "Hello, my name is Y/N, I'll be doing your checkup today. -Please let me know if anything I do hurts you," you say watching him sit up after one of the nurses finished doing a body scan to check the integrity of his cybernetics and to make sure they were still working probably. "Okay," he replies quietly. After looking over the scan images you move over to him. "I'll need you to remove your armor and blacks, put on this instead and let me know when you're ready," you tell him handing him a pair of shorts before clicking a button that pulled walls around the exam area. A few minutes late he called saying he was ready, and you entered the room again, "There seems to be some response issues with your robotic spine and some of your extremities. Is this something you've noticed?" "Uh, yeah, wasn't sure if it was just me or the cybernetics," he replied not making eye contact with you as he just stared at the floor. "Well don't worry it shouldn't be very difficult to fix," you say messing with something on your datapad before moving over to inspect the parts that were causing him problems, resetting some things in the hopes of fixing the connections and any discomfort. "So, Y/N what is someone like you doing all the way out here?" he asks trying not to sound rude. "I joined the medical unit of GAR after my homeworld was mostly destroyed by the Separatists, my family was killed and my village was in ruins, not much left for me to do there so I figured I'd put my skills to use helping others." "I'm so sorry..." The air filled with silence, no one knowing what to say, normally you'd brush it off and say it was okay, but it wasn't, you weren't, the memories of your planet and family still haunt you, remembering it wasn't a thing you enjoyed doing. "Sorry if I made you bring up something you're not comfortable with," he said grabbing your hand gently. "It's not your fault, you didn't know better." "Do you like it here, being with GAR?" "I enjoy helping people, but honestly no I don't like it here, most people don't have a lot of respect for me since I'm a girl and a civilian, let's just say this place doesn't exactly see me as someone worthy." "I get that feeling," he replied with a sad expression, you could tell just from his face that he had indeed felt similar pain to yours. "I'm sorry, no one deserves to feel that way." -"If you could leave, and maybe find people who actually cared about and accept you, would you leave?" "Depends on who asks, and if I can still help people." You go back to work checking off things on your datapad as you went along, asking him a variety of medical questions. Once you finished he looked at you like he had a question he wanted to ask but couldn't bring himself to do so. "Do you have any other questions?" you say walking back over to him. "Yeah, it might sound kinda dumb, but umm, does my appearance and mechanical parts bother you?"
"What?! No, why would you ever think that? I hope I didn't do anything to make you think that."
"Oh, no, no it's nothing you did, I've just had people in the past make comments about it...I wasn't sure if this was a mindset everyone shared." "Echo whoever says that to you has no idea what they're talking about, you've been through a lot and mechanical body parts don't take anything away from who you are," you say with a reassuring smile, now understanding his comments for earlier better. "Really?" "Yes, and despite being a medic I have some fighting skills and would gladly go after anyone who tells you otherwise," you said as you put away the datapad. -"I have to go take care of some other patients, your vitals are all good and everything else should be back to working order now. It was nice meeting you, I hope you and your brothers stay safe out there." "Thank you," he replies as you walk out the room, he puts all his armor back on, going back to join his brothers in the messhall. He talks to them about you and Hunter mentions that the team could use a medic and maybe they could see about getting you transferred to their squad. They enlist the help of Commander Cody who's able to talk the medical unit to let you transfer. Echo decides to be the one to tell you, hoping you'll accept their request. "Hey Y/N," he calls out to you walking into your small office. "Oh, Echo, you're still here, I thought they sent you guys on your next mission." "Well we're supposed to leave today but we...I had a request to ask you." "What is it?" "Would you like to join the Bad Batch, we kinda need a team medic and you have some battlefield experience, we already checked with the medical unit and they approved the transfer." "What?! I...I don't know...I'd feel bad for leaving, but I also feel like you guys could use my help more, and maybe it would be a better time for me, this job isn't exactly the easiest." "If you --" Before he has a chance to finish you cut him off, "Yes, umm I accept your request," you say with a smile. "You sure?" "Yes, I'm sure, besides if I join your team you won't need to waste time coming to medical outposts." --After packing your things and saying goodbye to your fellow medical staff you head out to meet the rest of his team. "This is Hunter, Tech, Crosshair, and Wrecker," he says introducing them to you.
"My name is Y/N it's good to meet you guys."
"We're happy to have you join our team," Hunter said shaking your hand. "Echo has told us a lot about you," Tech said making Echo glare at him.
"Well actually, it wasn't a lot just the same things over and over again," Crosshair said with a smirk, further annoying Echo.
"Can we show her the ship already?!" Wrecker said, visibly excited to have a new member of the team. -They show you around the ship and your quarters, soon setting off for their next mission, you along with them. Happy to be starting a new part of your life.
