#but I like the idea of sanji becoming comfortable with the family he’s found for himself

So again idk how Judge is in canon, but in my AU I imagine him as a deadbeat dad who only enters Sanji’s life to ask him for money. (If you’ve seen the episode “Mom” from Abbott Elementary, that’s the kind of dynamic I’m thinking of)
Sanji has been at a crossroads with his father for a long time, and when he comes to vist he’s always put in a bind because he wants his dad to love him, but he’s caught on to how he’s being used. Zeff always fumes when Judge is back in town but Sanji made him promise to stay out of it and to leave it between him and his dad.
None of the straw hats have met Judge. They’ve heard very little about Sanji’s family life outside of Zeff.
Judge comes through town during Zoro’s final trimester, and it becomes a whole thing. Sanji never told his father about Zoro and the baby because he doesn’t talk to him outside of the times Judge drops by unannounced. Sanji honestly didn’t want him to know or get in the middle of this because at this point it’s none of his business. So when he drops by out of the blue one day and meets a heavily pregnant Zoro at the door, it’s Sanji’s worst nightmare come to life.
Sanji is on edge at the freak out he’s gonna get from Judge, but his father takes it in stride. He’s jovial that he’s “becoming a grandfather” and grills Sanji a little bit for withholding this from him. The vibe of this visit is already totally different from how it usually goes, and judge almost seems like he cares about Sanji’s life for once.
He stays longer than he usually does (he usually only stays for a day or two, skipping town after he promised Sanji he’d hang out the whole week), actually following up on promises to Sanji.
Sanji gets the smallest bit of hope that maybe his dad has finally turned is act around, but Zeff is incredibly doubtful. Zeff warns Zoro to be weary of Judge and relays all the disappointments he’s put Sanji through. “He will try to drive a wedge between you and Sanji and you can’t let him. For the sake of your baby, you can’t let Judge stick around.”
Zoro of course, smells the rancid vibes coming off Judge from a mile away, but keeps civil for Sanji’s sake. He keeps a sharp eye for what kind of game Judge is playing, and doesn’t let his guard down.
Everyone is aware that this situation has the potential to emotionally decimate Sanji, so all of the Straw Hats are scrutinizing and keeping their eyes on Judge while he tries to worm his way back into Sanji’s life.

you can find other zoro fics here: Naomi's archive
pairing: zoro x fem reader
tags: hurt/comfort, fluff, consumption of alcohol
summary: One would expect the swordsman to unwind after a battle, but there are times when he can't help but think. Alcohol doesn't always come in handy when a specific crewmate he grew fond of cuddled a tad bit too close to his heart.
word count: 3.3k
theme song: 'Daylight' by David Kushner
A/N: It can be imagined with both anime and opla Zoro. I don't know if he's slightly ooc or not, but I genuinely wanted to dig into this side of a relationship with the swordsman. The awkward times when he's getting used to it and simply accepting everything as a new part of his life.
I didn't forget about my multi chapter fiction, I just didn't find the inspiration for the 8th chapter. I couldn't help but write this for my own comfort and I want to mention that this original art of @tea917339 inspired me (check it out, it's absolutely amazing!!!)
I'm always open for your opinions and comments, so don't be shy about sharing your thoughts with me! <3
Tumblr media
Usually, nights with the Straw Hats were lively, even after battles that left the crew members injured and bleeding. They would pick each other up and cheer up by simply bickering — that's what Zoro thought.
The same way Luffy's hand extended to help him back on his feet after he plopped down on the ground to rest. The same way Zoro reassured Chopper after the kid tried his best not to get emotional afterwards. The same way Sanji threw some remarks and the swordsman spat back in annoyance. And, for fuck’s sake, Nami reminded him for the tenth time that day he owes her berry for something he completely forgot about. Usopp was sighing in relief every time he remembered they escaped with life again while Robin agreed with a soft smile on her face. Truly, it was almost insane — Zoro wouldn't exactly call that a miracle because he's doubtful of its existence.
However, he couldn't bring himself to cheer up once the celebration of their victory was over and everyone went into their rooms. He was on the night watch and all he found himself capable of doing was burying in memories of all kinds, be it happy or not. With not enough alcohol in his system yet, it was rather hard to push those thoughts into the back of his head.
The swordsman sat on the deck, his back resting against the wooden cabin. Hidden from prying eyes, he found peace in the temporary silence. Rare were the times when the crew was so peaceful and it was usually during the night, when they were asleep, because otherwise they would've caused a mayhem.
The side of his mouth curled upwards at that thought. It was equally annoying and endearing, since in the months spent with them he found a lot of things about himself. Like the fact that he found his crew to be a family, like the way he sometimes found peace even in the chaos caused by them.
Or like the presence he grew way too fond of along the way. That witch — she truly was one, judging by the effect she had on him. Only a spell could've made his mind get so clouded, only some unknown force could've managed to soften his edges so well. She joined the crew from the first day and he believed that a spell had been casted upon him since the first time they gazed at each other.
Right. Zoro gulped down. The effect she had on him was equally annoying and pleasant.
Annoying because he should've focused on his promise to Kuina, not get lost in between fairytales. He wasn't by any means the charming prince riding a white horse and he didn't intend on becoming one anytime soon. It filled him up with feelings unknown to him. Zoro might be a fan of adventures and he had rather insane ideas — as one might say —, but such sentiments were an entirely new path to walk on.
First and foremost, it bothered him the fact that he wasn't sure he could fulfill both his promises and whatever the fuck was going on between him and the witch. He couldn't pinpoint what was happening, it was all in a blur, even if everything was clearing up whenever he saw her.
That's when he's reminded why he likes their relationship — what kind of, he didn't know. When he saw her, there were always sparkles in her eyes and the smile on her face would grow wider, lines of happiness appearing on her cheeks. The curl of her lips would make his heart skip a few beats and he would relax his shoulders unconsciously. Eyes filled with joy looked at him as if he was the very reason behind her purest sensations.
Also, not to mention how warm the depths of his chest felt when she was near. The heat would rise to his cheeks, which he sometimes found uncomfortable, but Zoro never ran away. A side of him wished so badly to go the other way and never look back, ignore her and those stupid damned feelings, but he never gathered enough courage to do so. Every single time, he would remain stuck, with his eyes stuck on her frame and fingers aching to touch and lips tingling to kiss.
God fucking dammit.
With a curse rolling off his tongue casually as he closed his eyes, the back of his head collided with the wooden wall he rested his back against. Zoro sat with his knees bent and feet planted onto the floor, only his Wado Ichimoji in his proximity. With its hilt glued to his shoulder, the sheathed sword was in between his fingers. By that time, he held it for comfort.
If that's what he could call it. The swordsman wasn't sure what else to associate it with. Or was it familiarity? The white sword was the only memory he had of a long lost friend and his first home at the dojo, by the side of his sensei. It was the only object tying him to his past, to his beginning, to times when he was much weaker, but determined nonetheless.
To care about his promise was familiar. Zoro wouldn't give it up — proof was the simple fact that he still achieved to become the strongest swordsman in the world. One day, he will meet Mihawk again and when he does, he will be stronger than the first time he encountered him at Baratie.
Looking back, it's been so long since. So long since a new life appeared before his eyes and he accepted it with no hesitation. He was a pirate, a Straw Hat, Luffy's first mate. The swordsman swore to help his captain achieve his own dream.
Those promises were familiar. The erratic heartbeats caused by the witch weren't. The sensation settling in the pits of his stomach when her gentle fingers would brush over his arm weren't. It was foreign and it didn't sit well with him.
Kuina.
He still saw her face in his dreams sometimes and it was usually her ghost haunting him. Other times, in her place would be one of his friends and each time it was harder to fall asleep.
When awake, memories of her replayed so vividly in his mind. Swords clashing together and whistling as they cut the air in half. A grin brightening up Kuina's face when he would fall on his butt and cuss her out again. They promised that one of them would become the greatest, but he was the only one capable of that, because her bones lay in a grave somewhere far away.
Zoro opened his eyes and stared at the night sky with scars scattered all over it. A calming view, even if there was tumult inside of him, hidden in between ribs that broke with each new pump of his heart. His brown eyes fell to the floor and he crossed his arms on top of his knees, gripping the sword tighter. His chest puffed up with air when he inhaled and he let out a heavy sigh.
“Zoro?” a soft whisper made him jump out of his thoughts.
The swordsman snapped his head and he was greeted by the sight of someone he didn't even know he was searching for. A side of him wished to say something along the lines of “fuck off” while the other side desperately wanted to soak into her presence.
A witch, indeed.
His eyes ran up and down her figure. She didn't seem surprised to find him there, in a rather hidden spot, which meant she didn't search for too long. Did she even search for him or did she also wish to be alone for a while? The first place to search for someone during night shifts was the crows nest.
She held two bottles of what he guessed to be alcohol and she swung them carefully before stepping closer. His chest tightened and he found it harder to breathe, even if it was inevitably easier than before at the same time. For some reason, she had that effect on him.
Maybe he knew that reason all too well, but he just avoided thinking of it.
“You told me we'd drink something together,” she reminded him in that warm voice of hers.
The sweet melody that calmed his nerves.
He didn't know what kind of energy radiated off him, but her behavior was far more gentle than usual. She wasn't hesitant, the witch never hesitated around him, she was just mindful of her actions and words.
He didn't know why for a second he saw understanding in the curl of her lips when she crouched down. Unconsciously, Zoro knitted his eyebrows together in confusion at her gestures.
The bottles hit the floor and she let go of them. Her eyes sparkled like they always did, but there was something different that time — a warmth they held only when she comforted Chopper or encouraged Usopp. Warmth similar to the shy rays of the sun of the morning, when the cold is still lingering and there's a specific scent in the air. Gentleness he only ever saw in her, because Luffy's kindness was different.
A warmth so humane that was visible for the crew alone or those in need of it.
The witch recognized something in his demeanor and Zoro had no clue what that was about. He could only see it in her gaze.
“I suppose it isn't really the perfect time for me to butt in, hm?” she whispered.
Like a promise only for him to hear. A secret.
“How'd you find me here?” he found himself speaking before he thought it through.
The question made her shrug.
“I pick up easily on your energy. It's quite unmistakable, y'know?”
There it was — one of the main reasons why she had the nickname of Witch both on the ship and outside of it. She's spoken about that for a few times and he had to admit he understood what she meant. However, the swordsman only felt those “energies” (as she liked to call them) in specific moments. He remembers that time in Lougetown when everything felt like energy instead of palpable objects, the reason why he won that fight.
Sometimes he seriously wondered if she hadn't met his sensei at some point in her life.
“What is it like?” once again, he asked before thinking.
The witch pulled her lips in a tight line and hummed, gathering the right words to describe it. Her gaze bounced around and she grimaced once, when she probably found her choice of words to be unpleasant or inappropriate — she always scrunched her nose when it was difficult to find the proper terms.
“It's sharp, but warm. Kind of steady, constantly flickering. For example, Luffy's energy is always all around the place and Chopper's gets out of control easily. Robin has the steadiest energy of all of us, even if it was kind of… strange lately.”
Zoro arched his eyebrow at the last piece of information and only received a hand waving through the air.
“Ignore the last part, I'm still figuring it out myself. No need to worry.”
The swordsman knew the energy she was talking about was different than what he felt when she was in presence, but he wondered if whatever laid in her heart interfered with her ability to distinguish his being from the others.
He watched as the witch looked at the bottles next to him and then clicked her tongue, deep in thought.
“I don't know if they'd help you tonight, but I'll let you be.”
None of those words were accusatory. They were all coming from a place of kindness and patience.
Suddenly, her fingers curled around his bicep, below the bandana wrapped around his arm. Skin on skin, her touch was hot and pleasant, even if very confusing.
What was she thinking?
His puzzled feelings were written on his face. Uncertainty laid in his dark brown eyes and his fingers held onto the sword tighter. He didn't even notice when the grip on his Wado Ichimoji loosened up.
Her gaze was reassuring as ever and she gently rubbed her thumb into his tensed muscles.
Zoro had to at least admit to himself that vulnerability was uncomfortable. Without spoken words, she picked up on it.
“I don't know for sure if I'll get to sleep tonight, so you could cut your night shift in half.” She's having issues with nightmares again? he silently wondered. “I'll be in my room, reading. Do what you see fit.”
Instantly, she was back on her feet with her back straight and walked away. The swordsman didn't know what happened or what he should understand.
He was utterly and completely confused. What just happened?
Oh. The witch gave him space and time to think. She also told him where she was in case he decided to grip at the promise of comfort and hold tightly onto it. The opportunity laid right in front of him and he was the only one to decide whether he used it to his advantage or not.
Zoro didn't notice when his shoulders relaxed. His body wasn't as tense as a few minutes ago, his back didn't feel as stiff. The exhale he left wasn't heavy anymore.
The swordsman knew what this was about. Maybe it was the time to just accept his feelings and get on with it. He had to suck it up and deal with it, even if dealing with her wasn't the right way to word it out. It always felt more like she was dealing with him.
With closed eyes, he remembered the last time her lips brushed by his. Gosh, it was so hot and his blood was bubbling like lava in his veins. It wasn't an accident, he intended on kissing her back with fever, but he had a hard time accepting everything. It was… weird. Facing that reality was troublesome.
She has yet to lose her patience. The witch remained firm and each one of her questions were answered by gestures instead of words — something familiar for him. She was far more skilled with expressing herself even when sensitive topics came up.
That was a miracle. Her presence alone could be compared to a miracle because it was completely unexpected and somehow always caressing him the right way. It was scary how accurately she could read him and the same applied to him.
The sky before his eyes continued to sparkle with stars and he remained still in his place. His fingers caressed the scabbard of his sword as he blinked in the darkness, the chill air of the night invading his lungs.
It was complicated and so simple at the same time. Zoro knew the answer — he just had to come to terms with it.
Tumblr media
Just as age promised, the witch sat on the bed in her room with a blanket warming her up. The lamp on the nightstand by her side casted a golden light over the pages of a book sitting in her lap. It was hard to focus on the story — a captivating part of pirate's history, sometime before the appearance of Gold D. Roger.
Her thoughts were followed by the swordsman. Zoro's mood was… sad at best. She didn't expect to find him in that state, but she quickly came to the conclusion that leaving him alone might do him good.
She tapped her finger over the pages of the old book and clicked her tongue. Was it right to leave him? The witch never saw him in a similar mood and she also realized she didn't know how to help him. There could be a lot of ways to bring him back to earth or at least keep him afloat. Those ways were only known by him. All she could do was guess and hope for the best outcome.
Heavy footsteps echoed on the other side of the door. When it opened wide, there was Zoro's tall silhouette, his white sword in his hand and one bottle of alcohol in his other. He came closer, his face hard as a stone. The pink hue painting his cheeks was the only detail giving away the fact that he drank one of the bottles she brought hours ago.
“Why aren't you sleeping yet?” he said with a gruff voice as he plopped down on the mattress.
There were only a few hours left before the sun would rise up from the sea.
“You've probably guessed already,” she averted her eyes from his figure.
“Nightmares again?”
The witch only nodded, eyes focused on the book. Zoro let the sword against the couch.
“I won't fall asleep, so you could as well take a night off,” only then she looked at him again.
His darkened eyes have been locked on her since he entered the valley. The witch wanted to move, to eventually get away from his knowing gaze, but she knew there was no possible way to do it.
“Are you alright?” she blurted out.
She had to fill that silence with some kind of conversation. Maybe that wasn't exactly the wisest decision, considering his shoulders visibly tensed and he straightened his back. A frown appeared on her face. She regretted talking.
The witch figured out he needed more time to sort his thoughts.
“Why don't you go to sleep?” she tilted her head to the side. “The fight has worn us all out. You could rest for a while.”
“And you?”
“We'll be sailing for a few days. I can sleep ‘till afternoon.”
“Nothing will happen for as long as you're on this ship with us,” the reassurance slipped so easily. “Do you trust us?”
“More than anything,” the witch responded with a faint smile.
Several weeks ago, her answer and reaction would've been so different. She made so much progress since she first met them, her trust now fully laying in their palms. Long ago, she would've backed away at such a question and, if they were lucky enough, the witch would admit she “needs time to adjust”.
At first, all he did was lean close enough for his shoulder to touch hers. The swordsman only intended to enjoy some peace while he shared his booze with the witch. From time to time, she'd gulp from the bottle and then give it back to him before continuing her lecture. After each two minutes, the room would be filled by the rustling of pages.
It didn't last long until he fell into her trap and tiredness dragged him glued to her. With his head in her lap, Zoro bumped his nose in her thigh. The witch's fingers ran through his hair and he let out an audible exhale, eyes closing instantly. Greeted by darkness, he felt warm not only on the inside. The blanket she curled around herself earlier was now covering his upper body as he sunk into the soft mattress and her.
One of his hands curled around her knee and he dug his fingers into her flesh. Her leg jerked slightly at the unexpected touch, but when he tried to move away, she muttered a sweet “It's okay”, stopping his movements.
The oxygen in his lungs was exchanged with her perfume and he bit back a groan. Her voice was like a lullaby, even if there weren't many words rolling off her tongue. Zoro wasn't bothered by the light of the lamp, completely forgetting about the world around him once her fingers continued running through his hair.
His hand traveled up, until it fully rested on her thigh, the warmth of her body seeping through the thin material of her pants. Truth be told, he's never felt better.
She was a remedy. His remedy.
“Good night.”
Zoro heard her whisper solely because he was near her; otherwise he would've confounded it with the night breeze.
Maybe giving in to her affection isn't that bad.

So this was based on a silly joke I have in my head about hormonal birth control not working for omega!Sanji for (spoilers) reasons and him and Zoro then ending up with 3 kids on the pirate journey because they keep breaking condoms.
Anyway this is just them finally making it back to the Baratie and having to face up to Zeff about it (from Zeff’s POV)
Pairing: Zoro/Sanji
Tags: omegaverse, mpreg
---------
Zeff will admit he is slightly surprised at the swell in Sanji’s stomach when he showed up again as part of what seems to be the new Pirate King and crew’s Victory Tour.
It’s not that Eggplant had given him no indication of it – he had been getting more and more jittery every damn time he’d gotten in touch as the Strawhats made their various stops before reaching the Baratie. Saying how some things had happened during his travels and that he’d needed to talk to Zeff about them in person. But Zeff had assumed it was to do with his damnable family. Not that his woman-obsessed omega son had gone and got himself knocked up. By an alpha, going by the new layer of scent clinging on top of the one he remembers to be Sanji’s.
And, because wonder’s don’t fucking cease, they’ve only just gotten through their tearful hug when a little green-haired girl comes running over. Clinging to Eggplants leg and staring up at Zeff with curious, familiar, blue eyes.
“I thought you were staying on the ship Princess?” Eggplant says, brushing a hand through her hair. And Zeff is equally sure that actually Sanji told her to stay on the ship as he is that his boy was as much a pushover to his daughter as he had been any woman who had stepped foot into the Baratie before he left.
“You know she wasn’t gonna’ as soon as she found out this was your old home.” And there was the newly minted World’s Greatest Swordsman and apparently sire to Zeff’s grandkids walking in like it had been his home as well and not the place he had gotten nearly cut in half by the former owner of the title.
And, fucks sake, there was another little one resting on his hips as he does it with that same matching green hair.
“I do remember teaching you about the importance of making them wrap it,” Zeff grumbles, because going by the age of the older one the two it hadn’t been all that long after Sanji left that he had gotten himself knocked up. “I know you said you weren’t planning on getting with any alphas but I know you were still listening.”
Eggplant goes red at it before glaring at Roronoa who gives a grin back that is entirely too filthy and leaves Zeff sure that he doesn’t actually want to know.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Zeff asks more to move the topic away from his kid’s sex life before he finds out more about it than he wants to.
They had been exchanging letters and calls on and off the whole time and never once had Eggplant mentioned that he was going to be or had become a granddad in any of them.
“I did try to but I couldn’t say anything too direct in case it got intercepted,” Sanji explains, resting a protective hand over his middle while the other curls around the girl at his side.
It makes some degree of sense. Best way to keep the two, soon to be three, pups from being a target is to have nobody know they exist in the first place.
Maybe Zeff should have guessed something like this was up when Sanji had asked him how he had dealt with the stress of raising a kid in the dangerous world they lived in. But he had just assumed his boy had finally matured enough to realize how much of an antagonistic dumbass he had been at times.
“I did want to tell you though,” Sanji continues, his voice guilty.
Roronoa has moved close to his mate’s side, not touching though. Which is probably what Sanji actually wants – always had been a bit funny about any too direct an offer of comfort. Something Zeff’s probably as much to blame for as anything else in his life.
“You have no idea how many times I nearly did.”
“Probably for the best you didn’t,” Zeff says because he can’t have his kid feeling guilty for doing the smart thing. “I don’t know if I’d have been able to keep away if you did.”
Neither he nor his ship these days are made for the journey to the Grand Line. And it wouldn’t have been good for Sanji or the rest of the crew of his to have an old pirate getting underfoot while they were making names for themselves on history’s pages.
“Hell, I’m gonna’ struggle letting you sail off with my grandkids with you now. You better come visit more than you have been!” He doesn’t actually hold it against them and damn well know the reason why this is the first time he’s seen them since Sanji left to join a pirate crew. But he still missed years of his grandkids lives as a result and they had better make up for it.

hi zuko !!! may i have familial headcanons for the monster trio with a little brother figure that wants to follow in their footsteps (wants to be a pirate, a swordsman, a chef) ? like how they'd treat him, what they feel about him, et cetera... ! thank u if u do take on this request n i hope u have a good day <3
Tumblr media
★ WITH A LITTLE BROTHER FIGURE WHO WANTS TO BE LIKE THEM! headcanons ★
── featuring. luffy. zoro. sanji.
── cw. m!reader. no pronouns used. familial pairings. implied younger reader. slight marineford and whole cake island spoilers. mentions of getting injured. me rambling again. not proofread.
── notepad. i just think each of them would make such great older brothers, even though some are more reckless than others.
Tumblr media
★ MONKEY D. LUFFY ★
── now the idea of having a younger brother has never really crossed his mind. he has always been among the youngest in his family
── but when you come along, seemingly out of nowhere, he’s so excited. but when you express that you too want to be a pirate, he’s ecstatic, he’s quite literally over the moon
── since you want to be a pirate like him he’s going to take you along with him and you’re going to be the first straw hat. how did the two of you even manage to make it out alive, no one knows
── luffy is the bad influence brother. he’s going to have you jumping right into the face of danger with no regard for safety whatsoever
── safety is not in his vocabulary
── luffy feels the need to be the cooler older brother to you in the way that ace and sabo were to him so that you can keep respecting him and thinking he’s the coolest big brother ever
── your opinion of him matters much more than you would think. if he ever found out you didn’t think he was cool anymore, he would burst into tears
── he knows you can handle your own and he would never get in your way. however, he can be a bit protective of you and is prone to worrying about you. if you disappear for even more than five seconds in a battle, he starts to get anxious
── he’s already lost one brother, and he is terrified to lose another one
Tumblr media
★ RORONOA ZORO ★
── zoro doesn’t have any siblings [ that we know of ] so he didn’t really have someone to show him how to be a brother. there are a million other people out there he could easily be your older brother figure, why in the world would even consider him, he thinks to himself
── when you approach him and say that you want to follow in his footsteps and be a swordsman, he supports you
── he saw a bit of himself in you. it was like looking in a mirror at his younger self
── he becomes your first teacher and a very harsh one at that. maybe a bit too harsh sometimes
── he struggles at being soft with his words and comforting you. he gives you his critiques and they end up sounding just like insults. you were starting to lose not only your confidence but also your interest. could you really even be a swordsman if you couldn’t even do this simple move without falling over and almost hurting yourself?
── your insecurities become too much when you almost get yourself killed trying to use a sword in battle after zoro told you that you weren’t ready.
── he never lost his cool with you. but that day, he did. as he was yelling at you, it was all too much and you just ran and hid in the library on the sunny. while talking with robin, he realized that he shouldn’t have yelled at you, that you were just trying to help out.
── when he found you crying, he felt awful. watching you try to hide your face and wipe away your tears because it was weakness and swordsmen weren’t weak, cut deep. that’s not what he wanted to teach you at all :(
── he apologizes to you and confesses that, he was just scared of losing you. he opens up to you about his past, showing you wado ichimonji, and just how much this sword meant to him. never did he ever want to lose someone close to him again.
── with time and very intense training of his own [ training meaning being threatened by nami that if he ever made you cry again, she’d throw him overboard ], he became a better instructor and older brother to you
Tumblr media
★ VINSMOKE SANJI ★
── with his complicated relationship with his brothers, sanji isn’t exactly looking to be someone’s big brother. even when you show up with those curious sparkles in your eyes
── though when you express interest in cooking, he’s more than happy to teach you the ropes to impress the ladies. ladies love a man who cares about their family, don’t they?
── he first teaches you the basics, the essentials, everything you need to know as a beginner, and simple but delicious recipes that you can cook for yourself. when he feels that you’re ready, he will slowly move on to more difficult techniques and recipes
── such as using a knife and cutting things correctly. you may have ended up cutting yourself a few times, it’s a painful part of the process, he tells you as he tends to your cuts and scrapes.
── sometimes the dishes that you worked hard on end up all weird and not at all how you imagined them. or sometimes they just end up burnt, leaving the kitchen with an awful smell
── sanji is just proud of you for not giving up. he admired your determination and independence…though he wishes you would let him help you sometimes. as your big brother that’s part of his job description. and so you wouldn’t dirty up so many dishes
── and as his younger brother, it’s in your job description to help him pick up ladies by making him look like the best older brother ever
── but it never works in the way that he hopes it will. so you just end up getting all the attention for the pretty women while he just sulks because that was supposed to be him

Chapter 7 (English): A Long Journey, A Father's Worry and New Plan
Before you read the chapter, here are some timeline explanation because it is a mess and even I don't know how to work with it.
When Zeff saw the Newspaper back in East Blue, the Strawhats had just defeated Doflamingo. Sanji, Nami, Brook, Chopper and Cesar were on their way to Zou (not sure if they had arrived or not but I think it’s no?). The Newspaper hadn’t reached the Thousand Sunny, which means Sanji was still not aware of it.
When Zeff crossed the Grand Line, Sanji had left Zou with Bege. I know the prologue is not clear about that and I will change it so it follows my timeline (which is a real mess) and I hope it makes things a little more understandable. I have to confirm something, Zeff will not reach Whole Cake Island on time. It’s way too far and the event of WCI happened in a span of like, 3 days give or take. BUT it doesn’t mean that Whole Cake Island won’t have any consequences. Just more angst and hurt/comfort probably. Anyway, I hope it’s more logical this way. In this chapter, Sanji is almost in WCI and his crew is on its way. I have written down my ideas on how things are going to evolve but just like the title, this is mostly Zeff centric and his adventures. I hope this chapter will please you!
------------------
Alabasta was a hot country. There was sand everywhere, sandstorms at random moments of the day and a local life really different from what the Baratie staff knew.
Zeff walked, his hands behind his back and his eyes scanning the stall. They were about to leave and he was becoming more and more anxious. Aryn hadn’t returned from his search for an Eternal Pose to Water 7 and Zeff didn’t know if he had managed to at least find a map to guide them.
The pantry was packed with food, even overloaded. The chef didn’t know when they were going to reach land again after their departure and he wasn’t going to play with food shortage.
His eyes locked on a shop similar to a post office which meant they probably sold Newspapers or at least knew what was going on. It was a bit unnerving to never really know what was happening and how long he had left before his son became a sacrificial lamb.
He entered and looked around before he spotted the Newspaper on the counter.
“Excuse me sir, may I take a look at your Newspaper?” Zeff asked.
“Mh? Oh, of course, I’m done reading it if you want to take it.” The man answered.
“I just need to see something.”
Zeff took the paper in his hands and flipped the pages to find the right article. He finally found it and the article was long enough it took both pages on the newspaper.
The chef quickly started his reading. From what he could see, Germa kingdom was finally in Totoland. Zeff inhaled sharply and tried to keep his focus. He was too late, they were too late. Now his son would have to face this nightmare and he had no way to contact him.
The man behind the counter raised an eyebrow and worry was written all over his face.
“Is something wrong sir?”
“A lot of things are wrong but it doesn't concern you. Thank you for the paper.”
Zeff almost slammed it down on the wood and left the post office.
Outside, everything was too loud, too bright. He could feel his heart beating and his hands trembling. Zeff knew it deep down, that it was impossible to cross the entire Grand Line in less than two weeks.
He was walking back to Baratie with his hopes completely crushed. When he entered the restaurant, he let himself fall on a chair and raised a hand to his forehead.
Now what should he do? Sanji was in a large mess, with his probably confirmed shitty family and Zeff was too far away to help him.
He couldn't just go and tell everyone that it was the end of their journey, not after they finally seemed to adapt to the Grand Line. And he couldn't go and tell Koil and Aryn that they were free to stay here because everything was useless now.
Departure was right behind the corner, Zeff could hear his staff working to prepare the ship. He sighed and stood up. They had to continue their journey, even if they didn't reach Sanji in time.
He heard voices coming from the entrance of the ship and went to see what all this fuss was about. What he saw almost made him freeze.
Aryn was back and he was followed by Koil (who hadn't put a foot on the ship before) and by Kehos. But what surprised him the most was what Aryn was holding. On one hand, he had a map and on the other hand, an Eternal Log Pose. The fisherman finally spotted him and waved before joining him.
“You managed to find an Eternal Log Pose as I can see.”
“Yes and I have good and bad news. What do you prefer?” Aryn questioned.
“The bad news first, I already know that our journey is almost impossible to realise.”
“Well… you're right. It's impossible to reach Totoland in such a short span of time and I'm sure whatever your son is in will have ended before we even reach Sabaody Archipelago. However, this map leads us to Water 7 and this Eternal Log Pose to Sabaody. I know it's nothing big but I studied the map and with luck, we can reach Water 7 in a week. If you know someone there that could help improve your ship, then you can win more time. But travelling without a Log Pose is extremely dangerous and if we don't make it in time then…”
Aryn didn't finish his sentence but Zeff understood him nonetheless. The chef clenched his fist before quickly relaxing his fingers. A cook should take care of his hands, no matter what.
Koil and Kehos joined them but Koil didn't stay with them.
“Then you should leave now and not lose any more time.” Kehos said while looking at Zeff.
“And can you tell me what the hell you're doing here? I thought you and your friends didn't want to have anything else to do with us.” Zeff crossed his arms and responded.
“I..”
“You?”
“I decided to follow you!” The younger man answered, his cheeks a light shade of pink.
Zeff glanced at Aryn who smiled awkwardly at him. Kehos didn't look any better, with his hands fidgeting and his embarrassment barely hidden.
What a hassle.
“You're sure about that?” Zeff finally questioned.
“Yes. And my friends all agreed.”
“Then I suppose you have everything packed and on the deck.”
“Yes sir.”
“Then we're leaving in five minutes.” Zeff then turned around and yelled at his crew. “You heard me slackers, prepare the ship to set sail, we're leaving Alabasta. Aryn, lead him to the dormitory then come back, you'll lead us.”
Aryn and Kehos squealed with joy and quickly left him to his thoughts.
Even if he couldn't reach Totoland in time, Zeff would make sure to land a kick right in Sanji's blood father's face. And after that, he'll reach Sanji, tackle him, reprimand him and hold him tight against him because he knew damn well how necessary it would be at this moment.
As he had told his crew, they were leaving five minutes after he had told them.
On the shore, Tara, Eri and Yan were waving at Kehos and Koil. Kehos was waving back with a big smile and fat tears sliding down his cheeks while Koil just rolled his eyes.
Aryn appeared next to Zeff with the map in his hands.
“I think we should take a look at the map, sir.”
“Yes yes, go on I'm listening.”
While everyone was running around to get the ship safely out of the dock, Aryn and Zeff went near the railing to have a quieter space. Zeff didn't want to go to his office, not yet. The room was too small for him right now.
“So? What's our course?”
“You see, there's quite a lot of islands before we reach Water 7. As you can see here, one of the next islands we can dock at is Jaya whose rumour can lead to sky islands.”
“Yes and we will make sure not to get caught in whatever takes people high up in the sky, understood?”
“Yes!” Aryn quickly said, nervosity clearly visible.
“Okay go on.”
“Well…there are other islands on the way to Water 7, like Long Ring but we can avoid them if we have enough food. If we can't then we can restock there.”
Aryn pointed at an island, smaller than the rest of them. It was situated between Long Ring and Water 7 and apparently had an impressive market. From what his new navigator said, the island provided some resources to Water 7, like many others. If they ran short on food, then they could make a quick stop there before sailing again.
“What's your suggestion?”
“I think we should restock one last time at Jaya and then try to go directly to Water 7. I'll try to navigate us through the Grand Line and we'll have to make sure we can see an island at some point because it will be one of our major landmarks.”
“And if it doesn't work, we'll use the Eternal Log Pose to Sabaody. Both are in the same direction if I recall.”
“Yes you're right so we are not totally lost.” Aryn concluded.
Zeff nodded his approval and with all the interaction he had had with Aryn wince they met were confirming his choice. He knew what he was doing and it was a blessing for Zeff. Now he didn't have to worry about someone getting sick or hurt and accidently killing one of his men.
Worry was still sitting in his stomach though and Zeff knew he wouldn't be able to escape it. He just had to trust everyone, and his son, for the near future.
He was the captain, but a captain needed men to take him to his destination and to have men, you needed trust.
He trusted them just like they trusted him with their lives.
And maybe he should start training them soon because the New World wouldn't be as kind as Paradise.
Zeff was aware of that.

Usopp is my favorite character! And I was so excited to see that you love him too 🥰 there aren’t many stories about him and I was wondering if I could ask that you write another when you found the time? Maybe something smutty? Or fluffy? Or both after he and reader reunite again after the time skip? Where he’s confident now that reader will notice him but obvi they already did ♥️
UHM I love Usopp so fucking much you are so valid he's one of my fav characters of all time.
SO rereading your request after I got an idea, I realized that you asked for… a hook up post time skip but like. I couldn’t not do a big fluffy “i missed you so much” reunion after two years so they have a prev relationship but returned with Usopp being more confident and reader learning things about themself haha.
This is so fluffy and so gushy but also nsfw. It’s cringe worthy sweet because I’m a fucking sucker for Usopp and I want him to be happy.
This turned out so much longer than I meant for it to, bc I was just going to do a drabble but here’s this 1900 word fic, haha.
TLDR: MUSHY fic bc Usopp deserves happiness.
NSFW undercut but it's just like.. Very loving emotional sex. No real kinks but there is crying during sex, but not written to be kinky.
______________________
“USOPP!” You screamed, running at top speed, past all of your other crew mates and straight into the arms of your boyfriend. Sure you were happy to see the other Straw Hats, but there was only one man who your heart beat for, and finally after two years apart, here he was.
He braced himself for your hug and you felt him lift you up and spin you around in his arms, “[y/n] oh my god I missed you!” He was all smiles, kissing across your face and holding you as close as he could, your feet still far from the ground.
His arms were more defined, muscles you weren’t used to feeling, flexing against your body to hold you up. “Wow you’ve been busy,” You smiled, kissing him back, hands finding their way to his strong arms. “Are you sure this is my Usopp?”
He laughed, setting you down, smiling the bright smile you missed so much, “What, you don’t remember all of this?” He joked, flexing both of his arms for you, acting out mock scenes of strength and showing off the rippling muscles that you didn’t quite know that you were into until well, just now.
You touched his exposed chest, fingers lingering over hard abs, “Well maybe I just forgot how absolutely strong my brave warrior was..”
You smiled at him, raising your chin to kiss his soft lips. Your words causing him to blush a bit, clearly melting at your praise, before returning your kiss, his arms wrapping around you again, hands in the small of your back to hold you close to him as he deepened the kiss passionately, clearly he had missed you just as much, ached for you just as much. These past two years had been hell, but finally everyone was back together.
“Get a room you two,” You heard someone laugh from behind you, and you suddenly realized how handsy you were being, how absolutely embarrassingly clingy you were being, causing you to flush a beet red.
The party the first night back on the Sunny was, no contest, one of the most fun nights you had ever had with your crew. Sanji had prepared a feast so big that even Luffy was having trouble by the end of the night, everyone catching each other up on the years apart and enjoying being with their family again. Everyone had grown so much in two years, both in visibly noticeable differences and emotionally. Everyone was still who you remembered, but matured. You supposed the same thing could be said about yourself, even though you couldn’t point out in yourself what had changed.
Drinks had flowed freely, Brook providing the most excellent of tunes, laughter and familiarity unbounded. How you had missed this. More than you realized. Just being together, being a family and feeling comfortable.
It was getting late now, and your head swam a bit from the drinks in you, despite how much you had eaten to soak it up. Cuddled up under the tangerine trees on the deck you were wrapped in Usopp’s arms, sitting between his thighs, his face pressed between your neck and collarbone comfortably, occasionally leaving kisses. He hummed in tune to the music on the deck below, Brook playing the piano and singing, Luffy and Sanji had drunkenly joined in singing along, not keeping the tune nearly as well.
“I missed you so much,” He said, arms squeezing you tightly, like he couldn’t get close enough, “I was so worried about you, I wish I could have just heard your voice.”
“C’mon, Uso,” You smiled, leaning against him and holding his arms under yours sweetly, “I’m a big girl, you know I can hold my own.”
“You’re even more beautiful than the last time I saw you,” He said, the tone in his voice so honest and clear with you, even tinged with the slur of his drink. “I must be the luckiest man sailing the seas.”
Your face was flushed, thankful for the darkening sky hiding it, “Shush you, it’s just the drink talking.” You patted his arm with your hand, as if to shush him.
“I mean it, you’re so gorgeous, you’re everything I’ve ever dreamed about my whole life,” His voice broke a little and you felt hot tears on your shoulder, “I was worried you wouldn’t wait for me the two years, I’d die if you realized how much better you were than me.”
“No no, none of that!” You said, spinning around suddenly, bumping noses with him as you turned, “You’re so much more than what you think of yourself.” You locked lips with the marksman, kissing deeper and more brazen than you meant, the passion getting to you.
His lips parted, and you took the opportunity to slip your tongue between them, his hands finding your hips as he deepened the kiss. Has he always been this good at kissing? Or was it the drink? Or how much you had missed each other's bodies?
“If we snuck off to the rooms, no one would notice,” You whispered, lips still touching his lips as you spoke. You smiled as you watched the blush spread across his cheeks, one thing hadn’t changed at least, he was so easy to fluster.
Your hand trailed down his chest, lingering on his waist, teasing at the last section of exposed skin before his trousers.
He tried to stutter out a reply, but ended up just nodding his head quickly as a response, lifting you up in a quick motion, carrying you bridal style down to the cabins below deck.
He set you down gently on the bed, treating you like a princess, kissing you and trailing those kisses down to your neck and chest, unbuttoning your blouse and kissing your breasts gently, always using such a soft touch with you.
“You’re so gorgeous,” He whispered against your skin, “So perfect.”
He climbed into bed next to you, hands slipping under your trousers, touching your body over your undergarments, his lips finding yours again, kissing you as you found your hands exploring his body. It would take some getting used to the new terrain under your fingers, where he was such a beanpole before, he had obviously trained so hard over the last two years, and his body was so familiar but so different.
Kissing and fondling quickly becoming more heated between you, he unbuttoned his coveralls, kicking them off his legs to the ground below the bed. You followed suit in quick succession, tossing your blouse aside and kicking off trousers to join his on the floor. His hands wrapped around your back to unhook your bra without breaking the kiss, you slipping your arms free of the straps and letting him toss it away.
His strong hand, more rough than you remembered, found its way to your heat again, slipping his hand under your panties, fumbling a bit in the moment before finding your clit with a gasp from you, some things hadn’t changed, really. His fingers slipped down your slit to find the moistening of your opening, dragging your slick back up to your clit to make his movements smoother, rolling your clit in circles under his fingers.
His mouth left yours, to trail kisses to your neck, leaving gentle marks against your skin, adjusting his weight on the bed until his mouth was at your breasts, his other hand cupping a breast to his mouth, a flash of tongue against your nipple before he sucked it into his mouth, kneading the soft flesh in his calloused hand.
“Usopp, please,” You moaned under his ministrations on your body, “I want you.”
You felt him freeze a bit, always easy to fluster, always easy to shy away. You stifled a laugh, “C’mon Uso~” you purred, arching your back and adjusting your legs to press your thigh against his member through his boxers, feeling the damp of his precum even through his underwear. “Please?”
“W-well I can’t very well deny such a request from a Goddess, can I?” He said masking a stutter and sliding your underwear from your hips before pulling his off and adjusting.
You looked down, eyes widening, “Usopp I know.. I keep saying you’ve grown but.. Did your dick.. Get bigger?” There was no doubt to you that there was at least another inch on your boyfriend’s length.
He looked down, having not thought about it before, “Uh.. oh.. Maybe?” He laughed, “Not too scary for you I hope.”
“No,” You said, wrapping your hands around his neck and pulling him down on top of you, “Just be gentle with me, it’s been a while even without the extra size..”
“Always,” He said, kissing you again as he slid his length into your waiting sex, letting you adjust to his cock as he did. Fully inside of you he gave you a moment to adjust, “Ready?” He said, and you nodded, eyes half lidded and biting your lip.
He started thrusting against you, a steady pace, his hands firmly gripping your hips to piston his hips against you. The air between you was hot and heavy, full of your desperate breath, your mouths barely separating except to let moans slip between your lips. Your hands found his hair, slipping your hands to the back of his head, fingers threaded through his thick curls, gripping him closer to you as his pace quickened from the passion between you.
It wasn’t long before you felt the familiar feeling of an orgasm building within you, taut like a rubberband, ready to snap with each pump of his hips into you, his pace steady but getting sloppier as he neared his own orgasm.
You wrapped your legs around his waist, holding him closer to you, his pumping action now more shallow but hitting you deeper, rubbing that sweet spot inside you that you swear he wasn’t long enough to hit the last time you were together, and god it was driving you crazy.
“I’m going to cum, Usopp,” You moaned against his lips, arching your back against his chest and pressing your sex into him desperately.
“Come for me, baby,” He moaned, pulling you into him rhythmically, “I’m close too.” His confidence in telling you to come for him was all it took to push you to that edge, feeling your orgasm take over your body you moaned his name loudly, fingers gripping in his hair for dear life.
Your body tightening on his cock was all it took for him to release his own orgasm, pumping inside you until your own orgasm had subsided, then pulling out to splash his slick jizz across your stomach, secondary pumps splashing lower, covering your body in his seed.
His lips met yours again and you felt tears splash your cheeks as he let his body fall into yours, curling up next to you to hold you close to him. “I love you so much, so so much,” he cried, huge tears pooling in the corners of his eyes.
You felt your own tears pooling, threatening to spill over your lids. “Shuush, don’t cry Usopp,” you trailed your hand across his cheek lovingly, “I love you so much, you’re my everything.”
“What did I do to deserve you?” He said, looking into your eyes with all the love and devotion in his heart.
“I could say the same thing, my darling.” You said, kissing his nose, “We’ll never be apart again.”

Chapter 17: Anniversary
Another R18/NSFW chapter!
It is now Enji’s 42nd birthday and 2 years since you two met. There are ups and downs but everything seems to heading in a good direction. It was funny the first time the children saw Enji come home with his glasses on, they always thought he was too vain to get a pair. Altogether, he is working hard with his children to make sure he isn’t going down the wrong road again. Of course, there are some times where he would go too far or push too much. Luckily, you are there to be a moderator between the children and Enji: listening to both sides and figuring out the best solution. Hina could leave is she wanted to, Shoto is 11 now, but she stays because she has grown attached to this strange family. You yourself have grown quite a bit as well. So far you have managed to keep the demonic power inside of you from getting worse and you’re a full hero by yourself. You still work at Enji’s agency but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Today to celebrate your first-year anniversary together, you’re taking a Shinkansen up north. It’s your first time on a train and Zaheer couldn’t be happier that you’re not just wasting energy teleporting there. Enji didn’t tell you where you were going but you’re hoping it is somewhere where you can be alone. It’s really hard not to cuddle on the train because of all the people around but you both manage. How you kept the fact you’re dating a secret for this long still amazes you because every moment you are alone together, you’re all over each other.
“Come on, tell me where we are going.”
“For the last time, it won’t be a surprise if I do. If you want to know that bad then why don’t you use your mental powers on me.”
“Zaheer won’t let me!” You complain.
“You need permission to use his quirks?”
“(Y/N) are not exactly fully fused. That is why we have been together this long. It’s more like I live inside of a chamber of him. I can give and take as I please but in order not to overwhelm the boy, I limit it.”
“You really do care for him, don’t you?”
“He is the best host I have had.”
“Zaheer, you sound like a parasite!” You laugh.
A woman’s voice comes over the intercom: “Last stop, Hakodate.”
“Looks like we are here, just a quick taxi ride to our destination.”
It only takes about half an hour driving through winding mountain roads to get to your destination. As you come to an opening in the forest, you see a very traditional looking building with many smaller ones dotted on the mountain side. The smell of sulfur in the air tells you where you are.
“An onsen! I have always wanted to go to one.”
“I know, that’s why I found a special one. There is a suite here that has its own private onsen, that way we can be alone.” He says as he lowers his eye lids.
“Enji….” You’re about to kiss him but you hear someone coming.
“Mr. Todoroki, what a pleasure to have to finally visit our Onsen. What brings you here?”
“I think you know why. I know I can trust you with a secret.”
“Of course, my sister told me a few things about you two. I would never want to betray her trust or put your hero status in danger. Your room is ready for you, follow me.”
As you follow the man up an outside staircase, you look at Enji with a puzzling face.
“He is Sanji’s brother, Yoshio. She was the one who arranged all of this. I knew that if were to go together anywhere else we would draw attention to ourselves.
“Oh, that’s a relief.”
All of you make it to the door and Yoshio shows you the main room and onsen, describing all of the qualities of the water. You can tell he really cares about this place judging by how he goes into great detail about everything. After he departs, you two are alone. The room looks similar to Enji’s home but there is a much larger bed. As you lay down to nap from the long journey, Enji crawls next to you.
“You know, after sleeping in a bed this size, we are going to be spoiled and need to get a bigger one when we get back.”
“I think I can arrange that.” He smiles.
“After a quick nap, want to go for a nice soak?”
“That sounds wonderful.” He says as he kisses you.
After a quick rest, you get ready for the onsen and head to the private pool. You’re used to Enji’s hot baths but this water is something different. The water feels so soothing on your scarred skin. As you lean against Enji, he slowly caresses your body as you both enjoy the warm water.
“I’m so glad I waited to go to an onsen until I meet you. It’s so nice to enjoy it with someone else, especially you Enji.”
“I have been to a few before but I have to agree, it’s so much better being with someone you love.”
“I didn’t say love.” You smile.
“You didn’t have to.” As he rests his chin on your head.
You both just enjoy the sounds of running water and the forest when about 20 minutes pass. Afterwards you both get dressed in traditional yukatas and relax. It’s a little while before room service is brought in.
“I see you both enjoyed the waters; they truly are some of the best in all of Japan. I brought your dinner myself; normally a Geisha would serve you but I felt this is more discrete.”
“Thank you, Yoshio, I’ll be sure to leave a glowing review in my next interview.”
“Thank you, Mr. Todoroki.”
After enjoying some of the local cuisine, you are both left alone in the room. At this point, Enji is looking at you with a familiar smirk on his face while lying on his back.
“You know, it is my birthday today but I haven’t seen a birthday present yet.” Enji says with a smirk.
“Well, I think I have an idea of what you might want.” You say as you begin climbing on top of him.
“But it is also our anniversary and I wanted to do something special for you.”
“Oh? And what might that be?” At this point, you’re completely on his chest, only inches away from his face.
“I think it’s your turn to be top.”
At the sound of those words, your brain begins to completely implode. You have always been bottom with Enji up until now, and the fact he is offering is making you scream internally. Your mind starts racing of all of the things you could do but you feel a sharp pain on your forehead.
“Pay attention, boy!”
“Ouch, really Enji! Why are you always flicking my head?”
“Well, if you didn’t get lost in your mind so much I wouldn’t have to.”
“Yea but a simple name call or gentle touch would do.”
“Sorry, let me make it up to you.” His eye lids lower as he closes in on your lips. He uses his large hand on the back of your head to bring you down to him, not forcefully but enough to make you move. You begin making out. The taste of the smoked fish and Sake is overwhelming as you enter his mouth with your tongue. You use your one hand to slip under the fabric of his yukata and begin to play with his chest until you find what you were looking for. His breath stiffens as you gently twist and play with his nipple.
“You like that, Enji?”
“Mmmmm…. My little flame is always finding what buttons to press.”
You begin to kiss him, going down his face and neck. You keep going until you taste fabric.
“Let’s take these off, shall we?”
You both quickly undress and are back on the bed as you continue where you left off. Going down to his chest, you begin to kiss those giant pecs of his, landing each kiss with care. You run your hands over his chest, feeling the hair underneath brush against your skin. You tickle one of his nipples with your tongue, flicking it a few times before giving it a good suck. You even use your teeth to gently nibble on both, making sure not to be too rough. This makes Enji moan with pleasure as you continue your assault of kisses down his body. His abs are steaming hot as you’re about to reach your goal. Taking his fully erect cock in your hand, you slowly take your tongue up and down its length, taunting him. You begin to kiss his tip and slowly start taking its length down your throat. Even though you have done a few times before with Enji, you still can’t take its full length so you take his sac in your hand and tug slightly to increase the pleasure. At this point, Enji is clenching the sheets in his hands and his moans are becoming more verbal.
“Fucking hell (Y/N), I don’t know how much more I can take!”
You the go down as far as you can and tickle the base of his cock with your tongue which is enough to send Enji into oblivion has he ejaculates down your throat. You do your best so take it all but it was too much and some leaks from your lips. After his cock is drained, you get up to find Enji red in the face with pleasure.
“Damn! I didn’t know my little flame was so eager today.”
“Well, maybe I didn’t want to wait any longer for my turn.”
You take your cock in your hand and begin pumping, already slick with pre, taunting the man. Going down again, this time much lower as you spread Enji’s cheeks apart. Slowly you press your tongue to his rim and you make slow circle. After a few moments, you prod his back door and the big guy begins to moan again. You take your time to make sure it’s slick enough with your spit. You get up and see Enji looking at you, almost waiting for something.
“Think you can take it without preparing your ass?”
“Just fuck me already!” He says looking impatient.
Taking one hand to your cock, the other hand grabs Enji’s waist. With a demonic smile, you slowly begin to press yourself into Enji. He is tight, of course he is, you are his first after all. The muscles are pulsing and pushing, trying to stop your assault but you press on. By now his breathing begins to hasten as you continue to invade his hole. About halfway in, the man has tears and sweat running down his face.
“Enji?”
“Just….give me a minute….”
You take his hand to give him some comfort. He must be going through a lot of pain because he is gripping you hard but you know it will eventually turn to pleasure, it just takes time. After a few minutes, his breathing goes back to something more normal and you get a groan to let you know to continue. After a little more time, Enji manages to take all of you. You still give him a little time to adjust but you’re growing impatient. You slowly pull yourself out and quickly slam back in as your skin slaps against his. “FUCK!” Is all the man has to say as you begin pounding his ass. You then take his legs in your arms and hold them up as you begin to pick up pace. In the heat of the moment, you didn’t notice that Enji has taken to pumping his own cock in an effort to relieve some pain. The pace of both of you begins to speed up as steam and musk fills the room. Moans and groans turn to yells and shouts as you both get lost in the moment.
“Enji….”
“Go ahead, little flame.”
You both release at the same moment. You send ropes of semen deep into Enji as he shots a load all over his upper body. After a few moments, once your cocks stop pulsing, you slowly pull out. This made Enji twitch a little but you find a way to apologize for the pain. You climb over him and begin lapping up his semen. Taking your time, you lick all over his body, slowly enjoying every inch. Once you get to his face, you begin kissing him again.
“We should probably clean up. Did my little flame have a good anniversary?”
“I really did…” you sigh with pleasure.
Enji then picks you up and takes you to the bathroom. You clean each other up in the shower along with a few more kisses. After drying off, you make it to bed to just lay with each other.
“Enji, I love you.” You say looking into those blue eyes of his.
“I love you too (Y/N).” He says as he kisses your forehead.

you have absolutely no idea how these two spirits found you, just that they are extremely persistent and are driving you crazy. so you do as they ask and find yourself standing before an ostentatious red boat, watching one stoic man watch another man in a straw hat bounce around like a fool.
you feel yourself developing a headache as the two spirits chatter incessantly in your ear, telling you to go introduce yourself. you have no idea how they’re going to react, but if the look in law’s eyes are anything to go by, you have a good chance of being murdered.
but you explain as clearly as you can, pressing your fingers to your temple as you’re inundated with small details only ace and rosi would know, and you watch law’s grip on his sword loosen even as his face pales. you aren’t sure you have him totally convinced, but he hasn’t slaughtered you yet, which you take as a good sign.
luffy on the other hand takes you at your word, bouncing on the balls of his feet in excitement as he chatters to ace like he can see him right in front of him. it’s a little less tedious than you expected to relay ace’s responses, and you can see the deep love the two have for each other.
usually, the loved ones of deceased people become melancholy once you explain to them about their ghosts. this is true in law, and you can’t help but feel a little guilty. rosi does as well, and asks you to encourage law in his place. you do your best, but you know he can tell it’s feigned. your comfort of him isn’t, though, and in your own way you’re helping him come to terms with it.
luffy on the other hand is completely unconcerned, and you learn from the others that that’s just how he is. nothing has ever kept him down, and even after ace’s death he bounced back remarkably quickly. he seeks you out a lot, usually to talk to ace, but it slowly morphs into discussions about pasts. he regales you with tales of his, ace’s, and sabo’s shared childhood and all the trouble they caused, and you find you look forward to the time you spend with him.
law is a little more closed off. He seeks you out to speak to cora, but they’re not the same as luffy’s conversations with ace. it makes sense, given the vastly different personalities, but cora is so lively that you really wish he were able to talk to law himself. you know you make a poor substitute, and you know law thinks so too. you begin to dread whenever he comes to you, until one night he apologizes. he knows you’re doing your best, and he’s been ungrateful. he tells you some details of his past with cora, but you know he’s leaving out a lot of– probably ugly– ones, but you understand him a little better after that.
watching law and luffy is almost comical, because you can recognize the intense attraction they have to each other, but they seem entirely unaware of it. the way luffy’s smile, already so wide, threatens to split his face in half when law comes on deck can only be described as adorable. law is harder to read, but the way he watches luffy bound to and fro across the ship is softened by amusement, and he’s remarkably patient with the hyperactive man.
you feel almost at home with them and, when it’s time for them to depart, you almost ask them if you can go with them. but no, they likely don’t want you too, and it would be too selfish to ask. so you prepare to leave, saying goodbye to the others, confused by the subtle smirks they all wear as you do.
as soon as you get to law, he stops and stares at you knowingly. “i’m afraid it won’t be that easy, ___-ya,” he says, but won’t elaborate.
you go looking for luffy, knowing that he’s going to be the hardest to say goodbye to, purely because he’s the last person you have before you really have to leave. you find him in the kitchen, raiding the fridge, and his head hits the top of the fridge when you sneak up behind him.
“goodbye? what do you mean goodbye, ___? you’re gonna join my crew, aren’t you?” he asks, and you think your brain might have frozen.
by the time it restarts, you’re already nodding. luffy’s arms instantly wrap around you, his face nuzzling against yours, and you can’t help the skip of your heart at the motion.
when you emerge from the kitchen, everyone has gathered down below, waiting for your answer. before you can say anything, luffy yells out, “he said yes!” and the others laugh. you want to facepalm at his choice of words, and you meet law’s eyes again and you think you can see relief in them.
luffy is an affectionate man. he doesn’t care where he’s at, if he feels the need to hug someone, he will. but you note right off the bat there’s a difference in the way he interacts with the rest of the crew and law. it’s adorable, and you ask robin one day if he even realizes it. the look she gives you is exasperated as she tells you no, and then asks if you even realize he acts the exact same way with you. you flush red and stutter half an answer out, and you decide never to ask robin’s opinion on something again.
after that, though, you do begin to notice that he pays more attention to you than anyone else. well, except law. but that doesn’t make a difference because you find law in your presence more often than before, and he doesn’t even always talk to rosi. a lot of times, he’s just looking for a quiet place to relax and that just so happens to be in your presence. you like law a lot, as much as luffy, and that’s a little confusing since you know they like each other, but you know they also like you.
speaking of the spirits of those two clowns, since you boarded the boat, you’ve found yourself without them more often than not, unless they want to speak to law or luffy. sometimes, you find them trailing after their respective family members, watching in amusement as they go about their day. other times, though, they’re nowhere to be found, and you have no idea where they go.
there are a few months of the three of you circling each other gently. well, you and law do. you’re pretty sure luffy is just going with the flow. he doesn’t seem to care and will lay in your lap or law’s, or pull either of you into tight, octopus-like hugs before bounding off to do other luffy things.
you’re pretty sure law has feelings for you, and you know you have them for him. rosi encourages you to tell him, but you refuse. law isn’t uncomfortable with you, you know that, but there’s still a wall up that you haven’t figured out how to bypass. it’s enough that law joins you in the crows nest on watch, or in the kitchen at night for a cup of tea when you can’t sleep. you adore luffy, but you find law’s calm presence relaxing.
it all comes to a head one night when the crew docks and decides to wander the town a little before dark. nami, robin, and chopper head off in the direction of the shopping district, sanji takes brook and goes off to look for groceries, and franky takes usopp to go look for a parts shop. zoro, being zoro, stays behind to “watch the ship”, leaving just you, luffy, and law. based on the snickers and the quick brush offs, you think the others did it on purpose.
luffy is raring to go, and you and law are just along for the ride. he finds a bar that is doing a meat special and drags the two of you inside. you nurse a drink while luffy stuffs his face, and it isn’t so bad until another pirate comes up, hitting on you. law looks murderous, luffy watching carefully, but both let you handle it. you politely brush him off, telling him you’re with the other two, but he gives them a once over and seems to think they aren’t much of a challenge, so he grabs your hand.
“oi, ___, you don’t wanna go with him, do you?” luffy asks, and you’re suspicious of the tone of his voice. law is behind him with a white knuckled grip on kikoku, and you worry he’s going to take out half the patrons in the bar. when you shake your head and pull your hand from the other man’s, you’re quickly pulled behind luffy and shoved into law’s arms.
you try to scramble back, apologizing, but law won’t let go. luffy is shielding you with his arms crossed. “he said no, now go away. you’re interrupting our date,” and there’s no way he doesn’t mean the three of you.
you almost choke, and the way law tenses says he wasn’t aware either, but neither of you say a word, just looking at each other with mild curiosity. the other pirate shuffles off, whether because he realized it wasn’t worth a fight or to bide his time, you weren’t sure, nor did you care. luffy turns back to you with a wide smile, and you can’t tell if it’s calculated or not because, knowing him he could really be oblivious to how a date worked.
when you get back to the ship, law pulls you off to the side while luffy wanders into the kitchen to pester sanji for a snack. he looks at you seriously and asks, “are you okay with that?” he hesitates before rephrasing, not even allowing you to answer the first question. “would you be okay with that? i’m not sure if luffy actually understands that he has to ask first, but it’s out there now. do you want to try with the three of us?”
you’re definitely at a loss for words for a few moments but then nod, laughing as you ask if you should bring it up with luffy. law shakes his head, wearing an amused smirk. “we’ll just let him figure it out for himself,” he says before pulling you close. “can i kiss you, ___-ya?”
you nod and his lips, chapped and rough, cover yours– just in time for luffy to burst out of the kitchen and onto the deck in front of you.
“no fair, tra, i wanted to kiss him first,” luffy says and quickly snatches you from law, who glares fiercely at him.
“maybe you should ask if he wants to, luffy,” law points out, but he’s relaxed, amused even, watching your head swivel back and forth between them.
luffy turns back to you with a puppy dog look. “can i, ___? please.” you nod without really thinking about it, and then lips are slammed on yours. He isn’t very graceful, and you can feel his teeth clack against yours. you can hear law laughing in the background and, when luffy pulls back, you’re enveloped in another set of arms and law doesn’t even ask if he can kiss luffy, but it doesn’t even matter because luffy was already reaching out to him.
ace and cora had the decency to remain silent right up until then before bursting out into whoops, doing some stupid dance in celebration for the three of you finally figuring your shit out. they’re quickly silenced when you rat them out to the other two, who start scolding the air where they think they are. all in all it looks pretty ridiculous, and you start laughing, followed by the others until you’re all doubled over in tears.
luffy is the first to recover, and he slings his arms around the two of you, squeezing you both close. law looks a little uncomfortable, but relaxes when you reach out and take his hand. he isn’t quite used to such open and obnoxious affection, and would probably always prefer your quieter version, but he can’t deny that luffy’s happy optimism is infectious.
nothing changes on luffy’s part. he’s never been overly concerned about ‘personal space’ and you’ve gotten used to that. it’s even become endearing when you come back to the ship from a shopping trip and he flings himself into your arms or law’s, littering your face with kisses as he proclaims how much he missed you. law doesn’t take that quite so well, but he tolerates it long enough to make luffy happy.
the first thing luffy does that’s a big change is to buy a bed large enough for the three of you. it’s strange, going from sleeping in a hammock to an actual bed again, and even stranger is sleeping as a triad in a room full of other people. it’s tiring never having any real privacy, but you would rather deal with that than not having them at all.
generally, you and law and curled up together while luffy is splayed out across half the bed. that means luffy is never, ever in the middle. you tried it once, and you and law almost got kicked to the floor. law absolutely has kicked luffy off the bed when he gets too rowdy, and sometimes luffy just sleeps in a hammock and leaves the bed to the two of you.
overall, it’s a calm and open relationship with a lot of physical affection and quiet comfort. and to think, you would have missed it if you hadn’t listened to those two pain in the ass ghosts all those months ago.

whole crew aspec headcanon
several people have mentioned this in the past few months, most recently @sweettsubaki!
Not only do I like the idea, I headcanon all the Straw Hats (except maybe Sanji?) as being aspec in some way or another. It makes sense, what with the Word of God no crew romances/"they're in love with adventure" and also the importance of their friendship - if you're not going to have a romantic life partner, things like friends tend to become very important to you, after all.
here are my headcanons, some of which I have talked about before!
ones I've posted abt: aroace zoro, grayro lesbian nami, demisexual & demiromantic usopp
luffy is aroace, flat out; I dont see him as aspec. (Y'all are valid, though I'm not sure how comfortable I am with it; it reminds me a little too much of the "uninterested person finally finding the one to fix their disinterest in romance/sex" trope. Of course, that's just my perspective!)
Robin is also aroace (I've talked about this one before, but I want to bring it up because the themes of being alone and finding a place with friends specifically reminds me a LOT of an aroace experience and, now that I think about it, queer experiences in general.)
chopper is cupioromantic! he doesnt use the split attraction model, just identifies as aromantic. he likes the idea of being in a relationship, and wants to one day be in one (probably with a cute reindeer mink), but he doesn't experience romantic attraction.
franky is an aromantic pansexual!! listen the franky family is such BIG aromantic vibes. he is just out here building a found family gang and being 36 and single and also relishing in his sexuality & personal expression. he is so valid
it has been years and I cannot figure out brook. I think hes arospec and allosexual like franky, and definitely mlm (I mean.... yorki....). maybe like, bi? oh maybe aroflux?? YEAH that sounds about right for brook!! he's aroflux and bi [BANGS GAVEL] my work here is done
jinbe is an asexual gay man he is big gay father I love him
sanji. see I do headcanon him as the straw hats' Token Allo (and also bi). However, I could also see him as being frayromantic? but mostly he's bi. I dont know!

around what years was everyone born? what are their timelines?
YE okay here’s what i have rn
Brook: April 3, 1928 - born in The Bronx in NYC, mother died giving birth to him; his dad was hit pretty hard by the Depression so they started living with his dad’s friend Crocus Desrosier in the early 1930s. his dad joined the army in WWII to try to bring in a bigger paycheck for the family but was killed in the line of active duty around christmas of 1943. i don’t have much for brook beyond this point except that he pays his share of rent through music gigs.
Franky: March 9, 1932 - born on the island of Molokai in Hawaii, he ran away from home, sailed across the ocean on a boat he built himself, and found Tom on the island of Oahu. Tom immediately adopted him into his family (Kokoro and Iceburg). Tom had a job for the Navy doing maintenance on the ships, and one morning in 1941, after trying to sneak on board at sunrise to help, Franky was caught in the Pearl Harbor bombing, taking away his nose and causing nerve damage in his legs. once Tom had a job secured (also for the Navy, working in a shipyard), the family moved from Hawaii to New York (i’m still working out the details of exactly how they move cross-country). Franky avoids Brook at first after moving into the apt below his, but one day after coming up to ask Brook to keep it down, they become fast friends. Some time after this, he meets Robin when her mother is killed in an “accident” which Tom is then blamed and executed for.
Robin: February 6, 1938 - born in Ithaca (upstate New York), Robin grew up with her mother and had no friends because she was always bullied for her polydactyly and heterochromia. One day they travelled down to NYC so Robin’s mother could do some research, where she was killed in an “accident” orchestrated by the government agents there. Robin met Franky here, who tried to comfort her when he found out about her mother. Robin was sent back upstate to live with her terrible aunt and uncle, and developed suicidal ideation over the years. When she was older, she travelled down to NYC again to carry this out, but couldn’t bring herself to do it. Here, she meets Luffy (a child at this time), who talks with her until Franky comes by and brings her to his place so she has a place to sleep for the night. That’s mostly what I’ve got for her - she meets the others later and recovers emotionally at some point.
Zoro: November 11, 1946 - born in either Washington or Canada, probably. Koshiro found him when he was like six years old. he had amnesia with no idea what his family name was (probably bc he was six) and no idea where he’d come from. Koshiro took him in and raised him along with Kuina in the countryside of northern Washington state (sort of west-central area). things proceeded much as they did in canon, with Kuina passing away due to an unfortunate fall and Koshiro teaching Zoro the art of swordsmanship. Zoro set out when he was a teenager to live on his own, and wound up utterly lost and somehow got to NYC, where he currently crashes wherever he can and makes a living as a bounty hunter. he met the others through the Baratie, and eventually discovered he had dyslexia (he didn’t know this before bc he was never taught to read or write; Koshiro just assumed he knew). he learned to read enough to get around town (if he had any sense of direction) and to read a menu at a restaurant.
Sanji: March 2, 1947 - born in France. After running away from an abusive family (haven’t worked out the details yet lol i had this in mind before the whole backstory reveal), Sanji snuck aboard a ship to work in the kitchens. He was shipwrecked on an island in the Atlantic ocean with another survivor, Zeff, from Ireland. Sanji barely knew any English and Zeff only knew a little French, so communication was difficult, but they worked with what they had. Things proceeded much as they did in canon, and after they were rescued, they settled in NYC and opened up the Baratie. From there, Sanji learned English by picking it up from people around him, and Zeff taught him to read and write it. Sanji met the others through the Baratie in various ways: Luffy when he was stealing food, Brook when he was looking for a job, and so on.
Nami: July 3, 1948 - b&r in southern California, adopted by Bellemere and raised along with her adopted sister Nojiko. Some time after her mother was killed by gang members (I guess???), Nami moved to NYC by herself and found it was more difficult than she’d thought to make a living. Tbh this is pretty much where I’m drawing a blank, I had an idea of her story before but I dunno if I wanna keep it that way, so I’ll come back to this at some point...
Usopp: April 1, 1949 - born in Massachusetts, ended up raising himself when his mother passed away and his father was nowhere to be seen. Had few friends his age in town and played pretend to comfort himself, which resulted in DID when he was older. He moved to NYC as a young teen with his closest friend Merry with dreams of making it big, but ended up living on the streets with Merry when, like Nami, he found it was more difficult than he’d thought to survive when he wasn’t stealing food from the neighbors.
Luffy: May 5, 1949 - b&r in NYC with his adopted brothers and foster mother, Dadan, and her cronies, bribed into taking care of them under threat of their drug racket being exposed by Luffy’s military grandfather. Luffy and his brothers pretty much grew up on the streets themselves and learned to take care of themselves there. I haven’t thought much about Luffy beyond this, and whether or not Sabo stays with them or not. If things proceeded like they did in canon, I was thinking maybe Luffy has to travel around the world to rescue Ace, but I haven’t thought about the details of that at all.
Merry: May 2, 1950 - b&r in Massachusetts. Abandoned by parents after they found out their child was mute, and lived much as Usopp did, becoming close friends with him eventually. They moved to NYC with Usopp, but passed away, having always been a sickly child, just a couple years after.
Chopper: December 24, 1950 - Adopted by Hiriluk and Kureha when he was seven. This is... about as far as I’ve thought about Chopper? He’s got a blue nose like in canon and he loves animals. Haven’t really thought about how he meets everyone else.

The Road Not Travelled AKA Fairy Tail’s Lack of Motivation
I know. I know. Another long-winded post about why Fairy Tail isn’t good, but before you fire up the reblog button calling me a hater, I just wanted to say my peace about something that has been bothering me about the series, almost since it started. That is (as the title clearly states) Fairy Tail (and by extension Hiro Mashima’s) lack of motivation when it comes to its characters.
Warning: This post is going to be very messy. This is mostly a rant/scattered thoughts about a variety of different things in the series. If you’re looking for more cohesive breakdowns of the series faults, I suggest looking at posts from @thegreatrhapsode, @ac-fairytail, and a few others since they would be much better at this than I am. Let’s get started.
So what do I mean by “A lack of motivation”? It’s simple really. None of the main characters in Fairy Tail have anything to do and thus aren’t motivated to do anything other than what they have been doing. I’ll break them down.
Natsu: When he is first introduced in the series it was established immediately that his one goal in the series was to find Igneel. It was this goal that lead him to Hargeon where he met Lucy, and it was also what spurned him to go find Macao for Romeo. It is also one of the first things Mirajane tells Lucy about Natsu after she joins the guild. He forms a connection to Gajeel over their missing parents, and it is also one of the first thing Jellal says about him when he bursts into Erza’s mock trial.
Natsu’s singular focus in the story should be investigating any lead he can on Igneel...but after Phantom Lord he seems to lose motivation (there’s that word again) in favor of just doing whatever at the guild. Now I’m not saying every single arc Natsu should be out looking, but the fact that after Phantom Lord, Igneel isn’t really mentioned again until Eclipse poses a very large problem for Natsu as a character and the story as a whole.
Even when given a new goal (that of killing Acnologia) he still meanders around until the final fight to put the guild back together.
With a goal so concrete in his mind, it would only make sense for the story to form around this idea and have arcs centered on it, but it doesn’t so Natsu is left dicking around with nothing to do. But he’s not the only one with this problem.
Lucy: Arguably the best developed character in the series, she suffers from a lack of motivation very early on. It was established not long into the story that her goal after joining FT was to gather all the Zodiac Keys (and finish her novel but that was never all that important and more of a character quirk). It wasn’t as pronounced as Natsu’s goal was, but it was progressing further than his. She already had Aquarius, Cancer, and Taurus before the story began, she acquired Sagittarius as early as the second storyline after the Everlue job, helping Loke gained her his Leo key, beating Angel during the Oracion Seis arc granted her the Gemini Twins and Scorpio, and Loke defeating Caprico helped Lucy regain her mother’s Capricorn key (which she was originally supposed to have anyway).
Her goal seemed attainable...until the GMG (This arc was responsible for A LOT of FT’s problems, but that’s a post for another day). Yukino presents Lucy the chance to complete her goal by offering the remaining zodiac keys, but Lucy refuses.
Now her reasoning is sound enough, being a CS wizard herself she knows how important the bond between a spirit and their wizard is and wouldn’t feel right breaking that up. That is fine and speaks to Lucy’s character, but the problem arises in that there is nothing for her to do after this moment. You could argue that her new goal is finding Aquarius’ new key but that is established so late into the story that it’s pretty much moot (even the sequel hasn’t done much with it at this point).
Happy: Never really had any long lasting motivation outside of what Natsu wanted. Moving on.
Gray: Probably one of the biggest wastes of potential in the series when it comes to rival/best friend characters, Gray almost immediately stagnated after Galuna Island. His mission of “killing” Deliora done. He was aimless until literally Tartaros when he met Silver, after which his motivation became “Kill END” and we all know how that ended.
Erza: Has pretty much the same problem as Gray, but worse. After her issues in the Tower of Heaven were solved, she was pretty much done for the rest of the series. Any significant change that could have been brought to her character was swiftly tossed aside in order to keep the status quo and she became a shell of herself as early as Tenrou Island. A mere two arcs later.
Wendy: Probably the most developed character after Lucy (in my opinion) she was both blessed and cursed by having her issues resolved in the same arc she was introduced. After that, she pretty much integrates into the guild immediately and seems to have no goals other than “get stronger” and “be less clumsy”. Both are admirable, but nothing worthy enough to justify her being a main character.
Compare FT’s main cast to that of One Piece or My Hero Academia’s. Now you can argue that a lot of the characters in both these series aren’t well developed, but the one thing both Oda and Horikoshi excel at over Mashima is that their main characters have goals that can be carried throughout the series and, characters with less broad goals don’t overstay their welcome. They do what they are introduced to do and leave soon after.
In OP, the main goal of the story has always been finding the titular treasure. It’s a defined goal, but also broad enough to carry the characters throughout the entire series.
Luffy’s goal is to find the One Piece, but not only is the story framed around this idea, Luffy’s crew is as well. Zoro wants to become the world’s strongest swordsman, an easy way to do that is travelling the world and defeating strong opponents. Nami wants to map the entire world, best way to do that is travelling it. Usopp wants to be a “brave warrior of the sea”. He does that by doing various feats across the world and building his legend. Sanji wants to find the All Blue, Chopper wants to be the world’s best doctor, Robin wants to find the Poneglyphs and learn the world’s dark history, Franky wants to create the world’s best ship, Brook wants to reunite with Laboon after travelling the world, and Jinbei wants peaceful coexistence between Fishmen and humans.
With the possible exception of Jinbei, everyone’s goals (while vastly different) center around and are bolstered by Luffy’s search for One Piece. Helping him in turns helps them, its mutually beneficial and thus creates a group of characters who are together because they want to be, not because they have to. They want to see each other succeed and feel like actual friends (instead of yelling about friendship every five minutes while being massive dicks to each other)
Other characters who have arcs that are resolved leave before overstaying their welcome. Vivi is a prime example. She stayed with the straw hats long enough to reclaim her country from Crocodile, and then she was gone. Her arc was done, so there was no real reason for her to stay. She would only stagnate.
In MHA, all of Class 1-A share the same goal of wanting to be pro heroes, but all have their own motivations that go a bit deeper than that. Both Deku and Bakugou want to be as great as All Might, Todoroki wants to spite his father, Uraraka wants to make enough money as a pro for her family to live comfortably, and Iida wants to live up to his brother’s example just to name a few.
Since Deku is the main character the story focuses a lot on his personal journey to the top, but other notable characters get their shine when needed.
Even Naruto built its story about Naruto becoming Hokage from the very first chapter.
Bringing all of this back to FT. None of the main characters have any established motivation, and if they do the story either isn’t structured around it (Natsu), Drops it entirely (Lucy), or finishes it and proceeds to do nothing else with the character (Gray, Erza, and Wendy).
It’s not like Mashima is incapable of writing motivated characters. Rave Master’s main cast had various different motivations that either carried them through the series, or evolved over the course of time.
People called FT a ripoff of OP in its early stages (a comparison I still don’t quite understand), but maybe Mashima could have leaned a bit on Oda’s story structure.
Have the story actually center around Natsu’s main goal of searching for Igneel. Have him ask questions and going on jobs based on leads he had found, taking him (and his team) on various locales across the world. Build up the continent and its history with the dragons.
He could even leave the story for an arc or two, giving a side character (like Levy, Cana, Juvia, Mirajane, Lisanna or Elfman) a bit of time in the spotlight to develop their own stories along with the main cast.
Change him over time to be a more single minded character post-Tartaros. Have him ignore bringing the guild back together in order to find Acnologia, which would cause tension between him and his friends and add more weight to the END turn as his obsession grows.
If Lucy no longer wants the Zodiac keys, why not have her new goal be earning enough money to buy back her family’s home and land? Its a lofty goal to be sure, but it would add a little more weight to her desperation to go on a job other than “I need to pay rent”. It still amazes me that Lucy is supposedly came from a very influential family in terms of industry in Fiore, but no one recognized her name. They have a railroad named after them for God’s sake. Do something with that. Does she not have an inheritance?
Gray is a little harder to pin down since most of his character is tied to Deliora and with him gone there isn’t much for him to do. SO if you don’t want to phase him out, you could evolve his motivation from killing Deliora, to finding Ultear. Have Lyon or someone (possibly even Jellal in Tower of Heaven) mention that Ultear is still alive. Gray’s mission would be looking for her in order to make amends, which would lead to their fight on Tenrou, to which after his goal could once again evolve into defeating Zeref for creating Deliora in the first place, leading to the fight with Natsu.
Erza is simple enough. She is heralded as Fairy Tail’s strongest woman, so why not have her actually lean into that and try to become a wizard saint? The near death experience would have spurned her choice, leading to an arc explaining the saints and how to become one. Erza could fail to be accepted (something she never seems to do post-Tenrou) and the rest of the story could be her working up towards that goal, and in a change of pace you could KEEP HER AS GUILD MASTER.
One of Fairy Tail’s biggest problems is its unwillingness to change. Everything and everyone just sticks to the status quo and the story suffers all the more for it.
Keeping Erza as master changes the entire dynamic of the team because the story would have to phase Erza out and put someone else in (again either Juvia, Cana, Elfman, or some other notable side character).
Wendy’s motivations could be the same as Natsu’s, finding her dragon. Her relationship with Grandeeney is arguably as strong as Natsu’s with Igneel so her joining him on his jobs wouldn’t be much a stretch. You could even add Gajeel for an arc if you wanted. Three dragonslayers and three exceeds.
I say all that to say that one of Fairy Tail’s most frustrating aspects is its refusal to realize the potential of its characters. There is so much to do in this world, so much lore and information imparted onto the audience, but the characters (and the author) seem to not care the least bit about it. They say they will do something, but don’t and that to me is worse than doing nothing at all.

Sanji should be king of the North Blue
I’ll admit, this is a bit of a stretch and a little too fantastical for the taste of many, but I can’t help but enjoy the thought anyway. I’ll also admit that there are a couple flaws with this train of thought but hey, life is never perfect. So let’s dive into this scenario and allow me to explain what I wish to see come out of this arc if I were allowed to choose.
I had this thought when I reread the beginning of this recent arc and was reminded of some questions I had that still haven’t been answered. One of which was Who dethroned the Vinsmokes’?
Perhaps it’s not important for the plot of the story, but if Oda does decide to leave the answer out, I’d think it odd. Granted, until this arc, no one has ever heard of the Vinsmoke’s but it isn’t as if he gave them “scrub status”. This family is still powerful enough, influential enough to effect the marines, Sanji’s bounty, the reverie, even the science community within the One Piece universe. Yet, they (well, more like Judge), lost their throne in the North and we still haven’t an idea as for who they lost it to. In addition to the Sora flashbacks, all we do know for certain is that despite the Vinsmoke’s power, they still lack in numbers or something which lead them having to need Big Mom’s help.
So let’s break this down first:
Weaknesses
1.      The siblings: I feel as if Reiju would support Sanji no matter what, but there is no way in hell the brothers are agreeing to this.
2.      Sanji wants to be a cook, not a king. He can’t rule a kingdom and plus, he’s too focused on helping Luffy become pirate king and looking for the All Blue.
3.      Sanji isn’t a Vinsmoke and he doesn’t ever want to be associated as one.
4.      The North Blue doesn’t want another Vinsmoke control!
5.      Sanji has nothing to gain by becoming king.
Responses/Strengths
TBH, I haven’t thought through what Oda may have in store for the brothers; maybe they’ll be arrested or maybe they’ll be sent away somewhere. Sanji may have said—numerous times—that he doesn’t care if they die but I don’t think that’s completely true. As Reiju explained, the genetic modifications messed up their empathy compass so their actions aren’t completely their fault and knowing how benevolent and empathetic Sanji can be, I’m sure he won’t be the first in line to order their execution.
First let’s do a little compare & contrast. Luffy- right upon meeting him, we automatically know who he is (and what) and what he wants to do with himself—not that different from Naruto exclaiming he wants to be Hokage. We know he’s the MC, he’s a devil fruit user (and what kind it is), and we know he wants to be pirate king. Even better, we even know how he can achieve that goal just from the intro alone—find the One Piece. Zoro- similarly, we meet him, learn who/what he is, and what he wants—to be the best swordsman in the world. Notice the pattern yet?
Well, also notice how both these characters, from the get-go, have also made promises in some shape or fashion on how they are never going to give up or lose in order to accomplish their dreams?
Now let’s look at Sanji; we meet him and learn what he is and what he wants—to find the All Blue—and learn of its existence….and that’s it. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that except notice the lack of detail? How does Sanji wish to find the All Blue? When he does find it, what does he wish to do with that information? Why hasn’t he asked Nami—the navigator—about any possibilities for its location? What does he want when the journey ends? So on and so forth…
See, Oda has written Luffy’s and Zoro’s story with a beginning and an end—we’re just watching the journey in progress—but Sanji isn’t as clear cut. In fact, he’s one of the most complex characters Oda has ever written about. You could even make an argument that he’s done a thorough job of fleshing out the rest of the crew, except Sanji. So what does that mean? Well, in the world of anime, this can imply that Sanji, unlike Luffy and Zoro does not have immunity. Albeit, this is Oda’s story and he mostly likely will not kill Sanji or make it so the All Blue doesn’t exist, but the point is that there is a possibility that Sanji can die. It surely doesn’t help that Sanji is always at the ready to die! Jesus, Sanji, calm down!
Let’s move on to point #5, hm? Sanji has nothing to gain by becoming king. I disagree and there are 2 main reasons why it could be beneficial for Sanji to claim the North. First let’s bring our focus back to Luffy; why does he want to be pirate king again? According to Luffy himself, he said he wanted to be pirate king because the pirate king is the freest man of the sea. Beautiful…except that isn’t entirely true (sorry to burst your bubble, Luffy). Sure, Rogers practically owned the world prior to his death, but he wasn’t really “free”. In the OP universe, many pirates own territories (i.e. multiple islands and villages) and unless your allies with them, it’s considered trespassing and/or a declaration of war if you enter another pirate’s territory w/out permission. I’m sure Rogers owned a lot of territories, but it’s also heavily implied that he made a ton of allies too, something that Luffy seems to encompass as well. But just think how beneficial it’d be for Luffy to be able to gain guaranteed access around the North w/out even having to be “responsible” for it—because remember, Luffy doesn’t want to give orders or own any armies w/the exception of being a captain. He already is allies w/Vivi from the East and if he can find allies from the South and West (or obtain territories in those areas), that’s already half of the fucking world under his name! In summation, if Sanji claimed the North, it’d give Luffy free access to more territories and freer space to roam.
The second reason is for Sanji himself; he wants to find the All Blue and whatever that may mean for him, ultimately, this means his search needs to start by looking in one of the Blues, so why not in the one he was born in (for starters)? There are theories that suggest that the Red Line is what keeps the All Blue from being in a thing (and I’m one of those believers) and that principle can also be applied literally; if all leaders of the Blues can align together, then the All Blue wouldn’t just have to mean the ocean, but the people as well. Sanji as a king/ruler would be in an All Blue alliance. That said, I also think something of this magnitude would help Sanji mentally/emotionally; unfortunately our boy has a lot of baggage and he has trouble seeing his value in life. Something like this would be perfect for Sanji to develop confidence because of how benevolent he is, he’d see first hand how life-changing he is to other people, particularly a poverty-stricken, hungry region.
This leads to weaknesses 3 &4, which go hand-in-hand in some fashion. This idea may be all nice but the problem is, would Sanji ever be willing to reclaim his name and would the people of the North even want/let him take over? I’m willing to bet that, no, Sanji would never take the Vinsmoke name (under any circumstance) so best bet is that he either takes his mother’s name or he takes on Zeff’s name. As for the people of the North, well, they have been suffering from corruption for what seems like decades now so I personally believe (and you’re all more than welcome to disagree) that Sanji can easily slip under the radar and successfully take over. They may not like it or try to resist but if the Strawhats back up Sanji—which they certainly would—then I don’t think it’d take long to win the people over.
Now point #2; Sanji certainly seems the type to be content just cooking for the rest of his life, at least, that’s what we’re meant to believe. Remember, he initially believed he’d be living at the Baratie his whole life as a chef until he met Luffy and realized he wanted more. And that’s no fault of his own, of course he believed that because he escaped from a dysfunctional family, a shipwreck, and starvation 10 years prior so there was no reason for him to believe he’d be living any other kind of life. My point is though, that when Sanji is in a comfort zone (as he currently is w/the Strawhats), he has the tendency of clinging onto it without thought of his future. In other words, he lives by the day, in the moment, not in the could be. That explains why he thought him going through with the marriage was the best option because it’d mean the safety of the crew. He didn’t even consider how the marriage would affect him or how his disappearance from the crew would affect them. This also explains why his self-sacrificial nature is so potent.
Because of that, Sanji may be unaware of his full capabilities, but let’s not forget that this is One Piece; he does not have to choose one or the other. If he were to become king, he could still very well continue to be Luffy’s left-hand man and chef. As ridiculous as it may sound, we have a couple of examples of rulers multitasking. Just take the previous arc—Doffy was not only king of Dressrosa, but a shichibukai, and a dealer in the black market. Even further, Doffy too came from the North; funny enough, you could argue that he’s the opposite of Sanji—the perfect yin-yang situation. So with that said, it’s not a matter of Sanji not wanting to be anything other than a chef, it’s just that he hasn’t thought about what else he can do.
Lastly, before I end this long ass post, let me just point out that Sanji becoming king would only strengthen the parallels that already exist between him and Luffy. I always found it special how it was typically Luffy who knew of Sanji’s personal story and they have some strong similarities in terms of character traits, lifestyle, and personalities. But even if not, I still think, why can’t be king? He is capable, he just has to realize it. So that’s my thought on it, sorry this was really long and tell me what you think!

I realized that I hadn’t posted this fanfic on tumblr yet, so here it is.
I've been feeling contemplative lately, having lots of existential thoughts, and thinking about what Law would be like drunk. This was born from that…
・ ~*~ ・ ・ ~*~ ・ ・ ~*~ ・ ・ ~*~ ・ ・ ~*~ ・
Memories
Luffy never got tired of drawing on others faces when they slept, and Law was no exception. Generally, as a party rule, whoever fell asleep first at the place of celebration forfeited their face as a canvas for the punishment.
This time Luffy had caught Law dozing as the Pirates of the Straw-Heart Alliance still partied with full mugs on the beach nearby their ships. In lieu of marker, Luffy had borrowed Nami’s makeup bag with which to deliver Law’s punishment. He'd receive his own punishment later at the hands of his navigator, but at that moment, he just couldn't pass up the opportunity.
“Smile, Torao~” he laughed leaning over his ally, scarlet lipstick at the ready.
Law felt something slide its way across his mouth. He swatted it away with his hand as he grumbled in his sleep and rolled over in a feeble attempt to escape. Next, something came poking at his eye which he again tried to push away. If not for Nami’s shriek of horror, he might not have woken up from his alcohol-induced slumber at all.
“Luffy! Do you have any idea how much this costs!?”
“Aww, give it back, Nami. I'm not done,” her captain whined.
“Not a chance! And I'm charging you 2 million beli just for touching it!” she snapped at him.
“Nami-swan~” Sanji called rushing over, “What's wrong?” He stopped in his tracks at seeing Law. All of the colour drained from his own face as a chill ran down his spine. His mouth fell open, releasing his still burning cigarette onto the ground.
Law sleepily glared daggers at them all. Could they be any more obnoxious? Law didn't even have to guess what had happened. He already knew. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, smearing the makeup down his cheek and pulled himself from the sand to stagger back to his own ship. He cursed himself for trying to keep up with Zoro’s drinking pace and not withdrawing from the party before falling asleep.
Boarding the Polar Tang, he stumbled to the captain’s room to wash his face in his private bathroom. This was unbelievably annoying. Why did his ally decide that this kind of behavior needed to become a ritual at every celebration and why did he include Law in it when he knew how much he hated it? It was just uncalled for and-
Law caught sight of himself in the bathroom mirror. He stared in half-drunken, shocked disbelief at the reflection. Luffy had only managed to get one of his eyes coloured, and thanks to Law’s rubbing the color now spread down from his eye, onto his cheek. His lipstick was drawn on in an absurd manner, stretching from his right cheek to his left, far extending the borders of his lips. He bore an uncanny resemblance to a face he'd not seen in a long time- a face whose shape he always feared he may forget.
Law continued to stare at himself through weary, unfocused eyes. His blurry mind tried to make sense of what he was seeing in himself. He absentmindedly brought his fingers up to trace the red line that ran across his face. It was a little distorted by his scowl, prompting him to pull his lips into a smile to make the line smooth. That was it. That was the expression that best fit a face like this.
… … …
“Hey, Law. I love you,” Corazon smiled widely through the blood that streaked over his face before closing the lid on the chest that concealed the boy. His expression on that battered face initially startled Law but his words had brought the boy immeasurable comfort. Law had finally found some hope in the future and for the first time since his family's passing, someone who loved him and wanted to care for him. But in the end things hadn't turned out at all like he'd expected that day.
… … …
Law grasped the bathroom sink as his hands began to shake. He pressed his forehead to the mirror, the red line on his face once again distorted. A stinging sensation came to his eyes as warm tears pooled around their edges and ran down his cheeks, dragging the eye colour with them. Law sank to the floor, releasing his grip on the sink to sit with his back against the door.
“Cora-san, am I living the way you would have wanted me to?” he cried out. “I’ve succeeded in your ambition, so why? Why do I still feel like there’s a hole in my heart?” Law’s slammed his fist on the tiled floor. He cupped his face with his other hand, sobbing into it. His alcohol-clouded mind swam with aging memories and questions about the future.
A sound at the door ripped him out of his thoughts. Nobody had permission to enter his room. Nobody ever dared disturb him there. Almost immediately, the door opened into the main room as Luffy revealed himself. Law was about to shout at him to get out. He didn’t want anyone to know see the weak, helpless side of him that was now painfully obvious. Instead, his voice caught in his throat as the younger captain replaced the door at his back, wrapping him in his arms, and pulling Law’s head against his shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” Luffy whispered, showing a side of himself that Law wouldn’t have guessed was there. His solution to problems of this sort was usually to kick someone’s ass to make it better, but in this case he was at a complete loss. “I’m really sorry,” he said again, squeezing Law’s body against his.

One Piece And The Importance Of Finding Family Among Your Friends
Growing up, I heard a number of t-shirt-ready catchphrases about family, like "NOTHING IS THICKER THAN BLOOD!" and "YOUR FRIENDS WILL COME AND GO, BUT YOU'LL ALWAYS HAVE YOUR FAMILY!" Usually, these came from people that weren't actually in my family, and to a child, they all sounded like inescapable warnings: "YOUR FRIENDS WILL LEAVE YOU, BUT YOUR FAMILY IS AN UNDERGROUND TOMB FROM WHICH THERE IS NO EXIT." Even as an adult they seem ominous, as if your family isn't something that you find love and comfort in, but rather just something you suffer through. And to a few of my friends, they are.
So when someone tells me "My friends have become my family," I totally understand. Heck, my favorite series is One Piece. I HAVE to understand.
If you watch One Piece, you've definitely heard the term "nakama." To put it simply, it means "friend," but when filtered through the world of One Piece, it's come to represent the people that you're so close to that they've become family or even more than that. It's mostly used to describe Luffy's crew, people and cyborgs and skeletons and creatures that have always had an unconventional definition of family but have now settled in with a bunch of weirdos that love them. And even though life aboard the Thousand Sunny is a non-stop barrage of sitcom hijinks, there's a deeper message there about how the family that you pick can be healthier for you than the family that you're born into.
Of course, you have Luffy, who barely knows his Dad but doesn't seem to mind that much. But you also have Sanji, who was born into a family of tyrannical super solider psychopaths and fled to find companionship among a boat full of unruly cooks. And sure, neither Zeff or the Straw Hats are perfect, but they actually care for Sanji's well-being. They want the best for the dude. Vinsmoke Judge is just embarrasssed of him, forcing the looming spectre of family upon Sanji in order to make him feel nothing but guilt.
And then there's Nami, whose adoptive mother was cruelly murdered by Arlong. She was then "adopted" by Arlong's pirate crew, who blackmailed her into doing work for them. After spending most of her life doing that, she finally met Luffy, a pirate that also knew her gifts. But unlike Arlong, Luffy brought no demands. He didn't want to "use" her. Even when he beat down Arlong, he didn't do it for the promise that Nami would join the Straw Hats. He just did it because, crew member or otherwise, Nami was his "nakama" now. And when you have someone like that in your life, you can't help but kinda want to jump on a sheep-themed boat with them.
Chopper was a part of a herd of reindeer until he ate the Devil Fruit that turned him into the adorable half reindeer/half man that he is now. He was kicked out of his family simply for being different and after a string of parental figures like Dr. Hiriluk, he finally found his "forever home" among the Straw Hats. And that's the point of the Straw Hats in the end. Luffy becoming King of the Pirates is almost secondary when you consider how important it is that all of these crew members have found their place in the world, a place that loves them.
I think this theme is important to remember on Father's Day because I know a lot of people that aren't close with their families, and some that don't even speak to their families anymore. This kind of thing can happen for a number of reasons, but a common one is that their parents just didn't accept them anymore. Their parents were toxic and cruel when they should've been understanding and respectful.
There's a big difference between not wanting to visit your parents because they're making a ham for Christmas dinner when everyone else wanted turkey, and not wanting to visit your parents because they maintain a sense of vileness that goes against everything you believe in. The first is something you can manage (because Christmas hams are DELICIOUS), the second is something that hurts you over time. I've watched my friends go through it. It eats at them in ways that they can barely describe. It can make you feel worse than just about anything else in the world.
So to all of those people who have found family among friends, I hope you have a great day, even if you're not celebrating anything on it. As One Piece shows us, to find people that are willing to care for us in a way that families should is truly a gift. Anyone that hurts you and then tries to pass it off with "BUT I AM YOUR FAMILY, AND YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH ME, BECAUSE I AM, UMM, YOUR FAMILY!" is full of it. Be like the Straw Hat Crew. Embrace those that embrace you. Find joy among the people that make you feel happiest. Give love to those that make you feel worthy of it.
(And watch One Piece on Crunchyroll! It's great, and the Wano arc is almost here! I love it! You'll love it!)
