Hiro doesn’t get babies, but he likes them only when they look like his brother and (almost) sister in law
Hiro does not know how to handle babies. So when you first bring Bodie around for a full day when she’s not constantly sleeping as a newborn he’s a little lost.
“Sup’” Hiro looks down at the baby swing.
With the most disappointed face Tadashi asks “Sup? Really?”
“What am I supposed to say to her?! It’s not like she understands.”
“She understands tone, stupid. Do me a favor and put a little pep in your voice.” Tadashi kneeled down towards Bodie and cooed wordless noises at her.
Hiro would try, he really would. He’d overdue a sweet baby voice and end up freaking Bodie out till she started crying for her dad to hold her. Tadashi would but not before slapping his brother in the back of the head for making his baby cry. The next time it happened, Tadashi had come home from a three hour class after picking up Bodie and he hadn’t used the bathroom in hours. He places the carrier on the counter of the cafe while Hiro is working.
“Watch her please-“
“Bro I don’t think-“
“Hiro I’m about to piss my pants, just watch her for two seconds!”
Hiro blinked at Bodie. Sure he’d been around her but never alone. He’s not exactly prime babysitting material-hell he wasn’t even dog sitting material. He didn’t know what he was doing, what if she started crying?
“Hi Bodie.” He waved awkwardly.
At the absence of Tadashi’s voice, Bodies face started to crinkle and she started to whimper.
“No, no, no, don’t cry. There’s no reason to cry.” Hiro practically begged her and it seemed to work because she quoted down enough so that he could hear the tablet on the counter ding. Someone had placed a mobile order for pickup.
Not wanting to take his eyes off of Bodie, he walked backwards to grab four plastic to-go cups and lids. He filled each cup with different kinds of boba, spilling most of it as his eyes were locked in on Bodie. He noticed she seemed to like the sound of the drinks being poured into the cup. Hiro emptied out some of the drink back into the pitcher so he could pour it back in.
He was shocked when Bodie started letting out little baby cackles at the sound.
“Y-you like this?” Babies were truly fascinating. “I don’t know if you’d like to taste it but- well I mean you can have boba, no? It’s practically jelly.”
“Not yet, but she can have some in about a month.” Tadashi’s voice echoed from the stairs. He’d been listening the entire time.
“Oh, cool.” A slight pinch of embarrassment made his cheeks feel hot.
“And she likes liquid sounds,” Tadashi walked down the stairs and through the curtain to get to the front of the cafe. “She won’t sleep without water noises.”
“Thanks for watching her, I’ll take her now. I have so much homework to do.”
Hiro quickly added, “oh you can leave her here.”
Tadashi looked at his brother carefully. “Are you positive?”
“Yeah I mean, if you’ve got homework you probably can’t give her too much attention so you should just leave her here…with me.”
Hiro tried to play it cool but Tadashi saw right through it. But he didn’t say anything. He just smiled.
“Alright, I’ll be in our room.” Tadashi cupped his hand around Bodie's cheek and kissed her forehead before running up the stairs to do his work.
Sure Hiro didn’t really get babies, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like them.

Cutscenes #42: A Common Thread
Wasabi makes a new friend.
The physicist started to hum to himself as he made it to the end of the rack where all the needles and hooks were hung on the wall. While scanning over them, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly at how big some of them were with one hook he swore looked like it could be used as a harpoon while another set could have been used to joust with.
Alright! Time to get the supplies I actually need, Wasabi thought to himself as he finally started to browse the yarn selection. He started up the first aisle, which contained primarily thinner yarn used to make socks. Hmmm, I think I need something with a bit more weight, he remarked internally as he walked along, unable to resist picking up a few yarn balls as he went to see how soft they were with the baby alpaca wool being exceptionally silky. Aside from the variety of option this store had, Wasabi also appreciated that each brand/type was sorted by color as well, making the shelves appear to have a rainbow-like waterfall of string occur over and over again.

Cosplay Build Guide: Marko's Jacket from The Lost Boys (1987)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am a lover of the horror genre; horror movies, books, games, you name it! And one of my favorite horror movies is the 1987 classic “The Lost Boys”, which focuses on a gang of motorcycle-riding vampires in the fictional California town of Santa Carla. I'm also a big fan of thrifting and modifying items for cosplay. I decided to combine those two things and make a garment that has lived rent-free in my head since I first saw the film: the colorful patchwork jacket worn by the vampire Marko.
I'm going to walk you through how I made Marko's jacket, breaking down the different parts that comprise the garment.
Marko’s outfit is made up of several components: a white cropped tank top, light wash denim jeans, leather chaps, custom painted leather moto boots, fingerless motorcycle gloves, a black skull earring, and of course, that iconic and extremely loud jacket.
All four titular vampires have a signature jacket they wear in the movie, and Marko’s is by far the most elaborate and distinctive. It consists of three main parts: the base jacket, the Italian tapestries, and the patches. Because of the nature of this build, I had to do a ton of intensive research to determine the individual and highly specific parts of the jacket. My main references were photos from movie memorabilia auction sites whenever one of the original jackets went up for sale, since they photograph the jacket from all angles.
Part 1: The Base Jacket
Marko’s base jacket is, according to my research, a men’s black Levi’s denim jacket in a size 40, which I believe translates to a medium. Now, I’m a petite woman (5’3”, athletic but slim), so I knew that the exact jacket would be too big for my frame. Instead, I found a men’s black denim jacket in an extra small; it's very similar in style to the original, but a little better proportioned for me. It's still very much oversized though. The first things I did were remove the buttons and pockets, and I cut off the hem of the jacket and the sleeve cuffs. Then I tossed the jacket in the washing machine to fray the edges.
Tumblr media
Part 2: The Tapestries
The hardest part of the jacket by far was finding the tapestries, for two reasons. The first is that the tapestries were all from the 1960’s and 1970’s, meaning I had to scour vintage stores and websites to find the right ones. The second is the variation. Six jackets were made for each Lost Boy in the movie; this is standard for a film, since some jackets would be used for closeups (the”hero” jackets) while others were used for stunts, and a few even have intentional holes in them for harness rigging. Because of that and the thrifted nature of the jacket, the Marko jackets for the film all differ slightly in the placement of the tapestries and patches.
There are five tapestries in total. Three are velvet: the matador, the peacock, and the leopard with the messed up face. These are impossible to dupe via Spoonflower or Contrado (custom fabric printing websites) due to the fact that these three are essentially small rugs. The other two, chariot lady and cat lady, are dupable via Spoonflower or Contrado printing since they aren’t the same fabric as the others.
The two pin-up tapestries are nearly impossible to find, more so than the velvet ones. In my months of searching, I never found either pin-up tapestry, so I had them printed by Contrado, along with the collar trim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you go searching for the velvet tapestries, you'll notice that there are several different versions of each one, with slight changes in color and placement of things in the art. How accurate you want to be is up to you. My peacock and matador are accurate to the tapestries on one of the stunt jackets, whereas my leopard is the correct color but wrong direction. That's doesn't bother me much, personally, especially since the leopard is the hardest of the velvet tapestries to find by far.
Tumblr media
Once the tapestries were acquired, I measured different sections based on the dimensions of the jacket, mapped it out using washi tape on the tapestries, and then cut them all out. There was a decent amount of math involved here, specifically regarding scaling the sections of tapestry down by a few inches since my jacket is smaller than the original. I then arranged them all onto the denim jacket and pinned them in place before hand sewing them (yes, you read that right; I hand sewed this whole thing) on in the correct overlap. I also added the rhinestones to the cat lady.
I recommend using embroidery needles and upholstery thread to attach the tapestries to the jacket, due to the thickness and the weight. I also sewed along the designs in the tapestries themselves to better hide the stitching within the image.
Tumblr media
Part 3: The Patches
Marko’s jacket has a total of 26 different patches on it, most of which are motorcycle or punk themed. For these, I found a seller on Etsy who makes 24 of them, and I used Contrado to print the remaining two (the anarchy symbol and the large skull) on canvas and added the stitching. You could thrift and find the patches as well, but here's the thing: while some of these patches are pretty easy to find, others seem to be nonexistent, to the point that I wonder if some were made exclusively for the movie. That's why I went and purchased my patches instead of hunting them down. My personal favorite is the “Screw U” one. One fun fact about the patches is that the large winged skull on the back is a leftover from the movie “The Warriors”.
I once again hand sewed these all on as per the references from the movie. You might think that ironing the patches on is an easier method, but there's a few reasons why that won't work: 1) the patches in the movie are sewn on; if you zoom in, you can see the stitching 2) I'm not sure the patches would even adhere to the velvet and velour of the tapestries and 3) if you decide you don't like the placement of a patch that you sewed on, you can just seam rip the stitching and adjust it, which you can't really do as cleanly with an ironed-on patch.
Tumblr media
Part 4: The Tassels
The tassels on the jacket’s shoulder are not tassels at all; they’re squid skirts (a type of fishing lure), which is something I never knew existed until I started researching for this build. For these, I found a fishing tackle website that had the closest match to the colors I needed, a blue-grey/orange and a yellow/green. Both squids also have glitter and little eyes painted on.
Tumblr media
Part 5: Weathering and Finishing Touches
Lastly, I weathered the jacket to give it that lived-in look. For the dirt/dust on the patches, I used powder eyeshadow. I also picked at the edges of the tapestries to fray them a bit. And to make the patches less stiff, I just broke the jacket in by wearing it around my house. The great thing about this jacket is that the more I wear it and the more it weathers, the better it'll look.

FAQ
How heavy and warm is the jacket?
The jacket is made of denim and rugs, so its pretty warm and heavy. It honestly feels like wearing a weighted blanket, which is a nice bonus if you're anxiety made flesh like I am. It makes a lot of sense for the jacket to be on the heavier side, because if you’ve been to Northern California, you know how cold it can get on the coast, especially at night (not sure if vampires can feel cold, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
How long did it take you to make the jacket?
I don’t time my cosplay builds, but I can guess based on the amount of TV/movies/podcasts/playlists consumed as I was working on it. I'm also pretty fast when it comes to hand sewing. By my estimation, the jacket took me about 45-50 hours of work, and that’s not counting the time I spent searching for the tapestries.
Can you make me one?
Sorry friend, I don't take commissions. Even if I did, there's no guarantee I could find the exact tapestries again. I appreciate the interest though!
I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of Marko's jacket! This was a fun build and I'm really proud of the finished product. I'm going to make the rest of Marko's outfit + wig to complete the cosplay, so stay tuned for that!

SUPERNATURAL FINALE : an honest, maybe sometimes controversial, take on tv's biggest disappointment of this decade.
DISCLAIMER : in this essay, i will give my opinion about 15x20 of the silly long-running show Supernatural (no kidding???) and i stand by the fact that i hate it, BUT i am not just going to trash talk my comfort show the entire time, and will try to bring into light the things that actually worked (ahem, yes, i will try to find some...) in this episode. i don't need any attacks on my opinion, you can disagree with the things i am going to say, but let's stay civil, right ? hope you enjoy it !
Tumblr media
let's face it, no need to beat around the bush : Dean's death is THE worst thing that could've ever happened to us. 15 years of adoring, worshiping THE best character ever created on tv just for losing him ?? this way ?? feels (sorry but...) fucking disrepectful to me. and listen, i haven't seen that cursed episode again in six months, so don't mind me if my blurry memories are failing me... it still makes me so mad, that the episode starts on OUR beloved hero living a peaceful life, happy, kind of, finally free from god's (yeah, more like chuck) who's been through literal hell, faced a hundred deaths, just to end up on that stupid rebar. fuckin stupid quick, meaningless death of a HERO. i can't even think straight when it comes to this but what makes it EVEN WORST is the freakin comedic part of this episode. the pie in the face ??? when THE Dean Winchester is about to die ??? or Sam's fuckin hideous wig ??? the episode focuses on some POINTLESS hunt involving a fuckin vampire literally no soul remembered from season 1 (if you did remember without even looking it up and just happen to have this knowledge, i am sorry AND really impressed) ?? are you just kidding ?? your main character dies, and you just make it absolutely no big of a deal ? i could not. disrespectful, once again.
Tumblr media
Dean isn't even the only one who's been failed on this finale because the same disrespect is put on Sam. i'm not bringing back the wig again (BUT THE WIG THO ??? i know the budget is low with covid and everything but come on ??) but the blurry wife is the icing on the cake. but where they failed Sam the most is the way in 15 years (okay this is not only finale related but i thought it deserved to be brought into light) they never EVER gave the man a real closure with Jess. they literally bring every character back from the dead, or at least give the boys an opportunity to say goodbye at some point but they never even cared giving Sam a proper closure from the most important relationship in his life. this, pals, makes me insanely angry. but at least, Sam gets to live and have an ordinary life until his last breathe.
Tumblr media
Castiel isn't even really mentioned again ?? i mean, no need for a long thesis about this shame but he's been a fan favorite for YEARS and they just ???
Tumblr media
i reached the part where i have to list the things that worked for me in this cursed episode. well. it gave us Dean x Miracle ? the man deserved to have a dog. and it was one of the cutest thing they ever did on this show. Miracle is somehow Dean's little sparkle of joy and hope after losing Cas. kudos (somehow, in a way, i don't know) to Dean's last speech to Sam, and their heartbreaking exchange. it really moved me, and made sense, it was in character. Dean dying on his feet was also appreciated (and those kudos go to Jensen, thank you buddy) but i will explain why in the next paragraph. anyway, i don't have anything more to add, and trust me i tried really hard!! oh, the photography was also decent, but it's one thing Supernatural always did well, so... not surprising.
Tumblr media
i am NOT a supporter of Dean dying in the finale, and i am thankful to the wonderful talented writer in this fandom for their amazing fix-it fictions on the finale. this ground is covered, so i am leaving you with ao3 for all the ways the show could have ended WITHOUT Dean dying. my man deserved to be happy and free ans well. i am going to cover the ground of THE WRITERS REALLY WANT DEAN DYING. fine. i don't agree, but you do you baby. 15 years of the show, Dean Winchester was depicted as a HERO. the fanbase has been dedicated for FIFTEEN FUCKIN YEARS and being myself a 2006 Supernatural fan, this finale made me feel like it was a total loss of time. as i said before, i WORSHIPPED (and i still do) this character like i've never worshipped any other character. what he (and we) deserved for always sacrificing his own happiness and life was to die the hero he's always been. to die, i don't know, saving Sam one last time ? with a show with great biblical implication, didn't he deserve a great biblical tragedy ending ? something huge, epic ? and i know this could be controversial because they are no longer under the influence of god himself, but he could have been paralleled to Jesus somehow, just joining heaven next to Jack and Cas as his mission on earth was over. i don't know. just thinking about things.
Tumblr media
what could've also been great would have been Dean's life flashing before his eyes as he was dying. glimpse of unseen good moments, memories, as a tribute to the character. once again, he deserved no less than to be praised for everything he did for his family, and for the world.
Tumblr media
anyway. revival is now a thing all over social medias and it could both heal us, or destroy us. it raised a lot of concerns, the most important being will Cas' confession finally be aknowledge ? i sure hope it will for misha's perfect delivery of it, and his fight to allow his character to be himself fully. but i also hope this revival finds a way to "cancel" the mistake the writers made with this finally. it could make sense. it could be yet another illusion, trick, anything really and they could (just like us) pretend it never happened (spoiler alert : it really never happened) and i don't want my hopes too high. but it's possible.
Tumblr media
thank you so much for your attention. i wanted to write an essay about the finale but i feel like i've been here and there talking nonsense. i've never really expressed my disappointment before, as it was something really personal to me, but i am glad i finally did. there could have been so much more things said. or said in a better way, but i tried my best :(
love y'all, spn family <3

Villainous Review
Tumblr media
Villainous, also known as Villanos, is animated series which mixes the science fantasy, morbid humor, and comedy horror genres. Alan Ituriel, a veteran of the Mexican animation industry, is the series creator. This series is produced by Ituriel's A.I. Animation Studios and Cartoon Network. Humberto Cervera and Mayte Sanz are also executive producers. There will be spoilers.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the thirty-third article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on May 26, 2023.
This series flips the script often employed in superhero fiction such as Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Tokyo Mew Mew (and the reboot), Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Crystal, Vixen, and Young Justice. It focuses on the Black Hat Organization, run by the villainous Black Hat (voiced by Ituriel). He is assisted by his team of three aides: Dr. Flug (voiced by Yian Riuz), Demencia (voiced by Cindy Eliz Pérez), and 5.0.5. (voiced by Mark Fischbach). They are contracted by other villains to "solve" their problems with heroes, either directly or indirectly, or sell inventions created by Dr. Flug. Their plans often go awry with comical and absurd consequences.
Villainous has garnered a massive following since the first webisodes premiered in 2012, followed by efforts by Ituriel to pitch the series to Cartoon Network. This resulted in the pilot airing in June 2019. The series had a backdoor pilot in the Season Two Victor and Valentino episode "Villainy In Monte Macabre", in October 2020. There were 29 shorts featuring the same characters, which aired from May 2017 to February 2019 on the Cartoon Network Latin America YouTube channel. Even one "episode" was released which consisted of the creators rick-rolling the show's fans.
Some have posted their own dubs of the show's six episodes, which were released in Spanish language in October 2021, on HBO Max LA, and other content. Their recent, and official, release as part of "Season 1a" on the newly renamed "Max" streaming service (formerly known as "HBO Max"), makes them more accessible to new and old fans alike.
The first episode of Villainous sets the tone. A superhero named Sunblast (voiced by Roly Gutiérrez) beats up a villain, Penumbra (voiced by Rebecca Manriquez), because his new punching bag hasn't been delivered. It is also a good introduction to each of the characters: a nervous and nerdy scientist in his 20s named Dr. Flug who wears a paper bag over his head, a green-haired mischief-loving fan of Black Hat named Demencia, and a big blue bear named 5.0.5. The latter is a contradiction, as he was intended to be evil, but is very loving, and likes hugging people. He also serves as the housekeeper-of-sorts of the Black Hat Organization (BHO).
Even from the first episode you can somewhat sympathize with these villains, despite their trapping of Sunblast in a jar, punching Ringworm (voiced by Sean Davis) into submission, and dropping heroes in pits without a second thought. This sympathy is clear when the three protagonists are yelled at by Black Hat for doing a "mediocre" job. One character in particular, Dr. Flug, is scared of his boss (Black Hat), ghosts like Emilia (voiced by Jackie Rodriguez), wrestlers, and almost being killed by heroes.
I liked how the series mixes humor with violence and "course language". For instance, a group of kids, based on Scooby-Doo protagonists, are scared off by a possessed fence. Later, the unstoppable Bulldozer (voiced by David Steel) attempts to destroy the Outlaw House (voiced by Alex Texeira). He is stopped by 5.0.5., as bears terrify him after one bit him years ago.
Sometimes this comedy is continued during the episode credits. In the episode 2 credits, Bulldozer ends up in the cave house of the three protagonists of We Bare Bears (Grizzly, Panda, and Ice Bear), another CN series. In the credits of the fourth episode, the heroic Airlock (voiced by Jinon Deebs), a short-haired White woman, is eaten by a space monster. This is after she escaped the show's protagonists because she found them as very "annoying".
This brings me to another part which I enjoy about Villainous: crossovers with other series. The third episode, reportedly a homage to the Mexican wrestling films of the 1960s, features characters from Victor and Valentino and Helluva Boss in the stands. A few episodes later, Johnny Bravo, from the series of the same name, is a background character, while the robotic lawyers for Black Hat bring plagiarism cases against characters from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
That same episode also features Harvey Birdman from the Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, and characters from Grim and Evil like Hector Con Carne. Again, these are all CN series, which makes the crossovers all the more interesting.
youtube
In the third episode of Villainous, the three protagonists are tasked at eliminating a luchador named El Valiente (voiced by Jose Aparicio) by their client, Adelita Guerrero (voiced by Margarita Coego). It reminds me of three series: Carmen Sandiego, Elena of Avalor and Victor and Valentino.
In the latter two, there are episodes in which the protagonists, or supporting characters, are possessed by a mask, like Mascara Macabra (voiced by Aparicio) in this series, or another individual. As for Carmen Sandiego, the Season Three opening episode features Carmen attending a wrestling match in hopes of finding her mother.
The characters of Villainous become even more relatable in the last couple episodes. In the fourth episode, Dr. Flug's favorite series is spoiled by a sassy A.I. named V.I.R.U.S. (voiced by Sean Davis). Even worse, 5.0.5. is horrified when Black Hat ruins a children's show, almost akin to the Teletubbies. It becomes horrific after Black Hat causes the Sun to light the bears on fire.
The series pokes fun at itself. In one episode, the copycats/doppelgangers claim they are BHO in order to rake in profits for themselves. This is better executed than the "Pirates" episode of Cleopatra in Space, as each of the protagonists comes across a "stronger" version of themselves. Hilariously, and sadly, 5.0.5.'s counterpart is just a cactus. In that same episode, I liked how Dr. Flug blatantly interrupts the "origin story" of the other version of Black Hat, annoying him to no end.
The final episode of Villainous ends the series on bang. It focuses on a self-absorbed social media influencer named Miss Heed (voiced by Katherine Clavelo), who Dr. Flug knew when he went to the academy. She is far worse than those depicted in the first season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, or the currently airing Kizuna no Allele.
In fact, Heed has a special concoction she sprays on the city residents to make them love her. In an indictment of such influencers, also known as internet personalities or internet celebrities, and their power, Dr. Flug is able to take her down, with the assistance of Demencia. His kiss with her, is streamed and goes viral. It causes all of her zombie "fans" to fall out of love with her.
While some series would have stopped there, Villainous goes the extra step. Heed is pushed into a vat of her own liquid, ending her plan to be the "most-loved" hero. She is locked up in a maximum security prison. Fitting with her personality, she falls off her rocker, and demands that people need to love her. In one of the best scenes in the series, Flug, after learning about Goldheart's plan to eliminate all villains, tells Heed that she needs to love herself first (i.e. self-love) before she can love anyone else.
The entire sequence, at first, appears to reinforce retributive justice paradigms. The latter involves punishment being imposed unilaterally, no option for remorse, and crime in the domain of the state. This is interlinked with the narrative that violence is justified as long as it is directed at those deemed as "evil". It further involves heroes in league with the criminal system and has an assumption that villains cannot be rehabilitated. On the other hand, Villainous turns this around, as Heed is a hero and Flug is a villain, meaning that a "hero" is being locked away for something a "villain" would do.
While Flug's kiss is a one-off interaction, Demencia's romantic obsession with Black Hat spans the series. She believes that her romantic feelings will be reciprocated, but he likely doesn't care much about her. However, her love saves her from Heed's concoction, as she only has love for him. More than anything, Demencia is an obsessed fan. Perhaps her character is symbolic of out-of-control fans which feel the same way about public figures, to the detriment of themselves and those personalities.
All in all, this series has many similarities to Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, especially the former. BHO somewhat resembles I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals). The latter is contracted by demons in hell to assassinate people in the world of the living. The difference is that BHO specifically focuses on heroes and is only contracted by villains.
youtube
The last episode of Villainous, at present, lays the groundwork for future episodes. Goldheart (voiced by Oliver Roberts) seems to know Dr. Flug, declaring "Flug, what did you do now?" The efforts of BHO to counter him could be an important storyline.
A possible second season, might not follow a serialized format. The six current episodes have the same characters, but are not, serialized. Each episode could stand on its own. This does not diminish the series, however.
The voice actors for this series stand out. Apart from Ituriel, Yian Riuz, Cindy Eliz Pérez, and Mark Fischbach, who voice the protagonists, are all talented. Fischbach is a well-known YouTuber, with this as his first voice role. In contrast, Pérez previously played a character in BoBoiBoy Elemental Heroes, and Riuz in Mashed!
Similarly, Sahid Pabon, Roly Gutiérrez, Connie Fernandez, Yenni Ann, Guia Burns, and Jason Kessler, who voice villains, wrestlers, henchmen, and others in the series, are equally talented. They have lent their voices to characters in Monkey King Reborn, Legend Quest, Gintama, Leo De Vinci, Rainbow High, Kageki Shojo!!, and Kemono Friends.
This is also the case for the Spanish-language voice actors, such as José Antonio Macías, Melissa Gedeón, Lourdes Arruti, and Diego Valenzuela. They have voiced characters in video games, animated shorts, and productions such as Guardians of Oz, and Top Cat.
The producers of Villainous worked on The Flying Machine, Hua Se, Frankelda's Book of Spooks, Pucca, Pandalian, Eden, Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You, and Xi you ji. Kevin Manthei, the music composer, worked on Ben 10, Spider-Man, Robot Chicken, Ultimate Spider-Man, Polly Pocket, Hanny Manny, Invader Zim, and Generator Rex.
Other than the amazing dubbing by VOA Studios, in Miami, the show's crew includes alums from many series. This includes Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Dota: Dragon's Blood, Black Dynamite, Legend of Korra, OK K.O. Let's Be Heroes!, Danger House, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, and Scan2Go.
Villainous is more than a series with humor reminiscent of 1990s cartoons. It has themes about overcoming your inner demons and lampoons popular Cartoon Network series. This is accompanied by entertaining characters, which have intriguing dynamics and comraderie within the BHO, wonderful animation, character design, artwork, and creativity. What other series has villains traveling to their destination in a flying hat spewing smoke?
I haven't watched enough Invader Zim or The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy to say if Villainous is like those series. However, each character is interesting enough and the story is engaging that Villainous could run for many seasons. If Helluva Boss has aired 12 episodes, why can't Villainous do the same? Perhaps the cast could become even more diverse and LGBTQ characters could be added. The latter would further enhance the series.
Unfortunately, Villainous comes at a time of extreme flux at Max's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery. This includes an error causing writers, directors, and creators to all be lumped together into one category. There has been an awful rollout of the "Max"  streaming service, in an inane effort to "attract" families.
This comes after the cruel content purge at HBO Max, former name for the service. It resulted in the removal of Infinity Train, Mighty Magiswords, Uncle Grandpa, Final Space, and Close Enough. None of them have been re-added to Max. The content purge on Hulu, and on Max, was discussed in a PCM podcast on May 22nd.
Despite the shenanigans of the corporate executives, I am hopeful that Villainous will be continued with additional episodes. All in all, I highly recommend Villainous as a series to watch.
Villainous is currently streaming on Max.

Healing Touch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dabi x Fem!Reader fan fiction
Synopsis: You encounter an injured Shigaraki and offer your healing quirk to his aid. Little did you know, healers were hard to come by in the underground and Shigaraki takes a liking to your skills. To further his cause, he kidnaps you and holds you captive under the watch of the LOV. You play the role of the LOV's little healer while you think of a way to escape. Unbeknownst to you, the pyromaniac with a cold heart begins to melt in your presence. Your compassion and wit draw him in, all the while he swears it's only curiosity he feels toward you. But when your touch heals his burns and your personality soothes his anguish, Dabi begins to wonder, what exactly is he feeling for you? And why the hell does he feel so torn up when you slip away?
Author's Note:  Reader is a bit of a clueless foreigner who has no clue UA is a school. Y/n is in for a hell of a surprise these next few chapters. Also sorry this is turning into a slow burn. There's gonna be some sexual tension next chapter and within 3 chapters, I will have the first REAL smut scene (not just fantasizing).

Chapter Six: That's My Type
New faces start showing up around the base. The league of villains is growing, officially accepting two new members, with more to come. Magne seems to fit in well with Toga, quickly earning the endearment ‘Big Sis Magne’. Her quirk isn’t outright lethal, but you figure out that it may still be a problem should you escape. She can magnetize according to gender identity. Should you flee, she could magnetize you to reign you back in. It was becoming tiring to be consistently outmatched.
The other member goes by the name Spinner. There’s something about him that makes him seem different from the rest of the league. He’s much more nervous and awkward. The others carry themselves with a bit more confidence and conviction, contrasting Spinner. Plus, his get-up is strange, even with what you’ve become accustomed to. It’s like some sort of costume or cosplay. Just what the hell is he doing here?
During his introduction, you learn of his quirk. You could tell it was some sort of mutant quirk, as it obviously influenced his body. He has both the appearance and the abilities of a lizard, such as being able to climb up walls. His quirk and mannerisms combined have you suspecting he’s not as skilled in combat compared to the rest of the league. So far, it seems like your best bet would be to attempt to reason with him. Maybe you could trick him into letting you go. If that doesn’t work, you’d have to consider escalating. You want to believe you could totally throw down with him and win, but the current risk of failing is too great for your liking. Not to mention, you have no idea what the consequences would be should you attempt. You’re not in the business of fucking around and finding out.
‘Reasoning it is,’ you decide.
Unfortunately, you’re already beaten to the punch. Shigaraki always thinks ahead. The leader briefed Spinner on your situation, giving him specific instructions against allowing you to leave. Should you get caught running away, Shigaraki allows the use of force to bring you back. The new member seemed conflicted upon the explanation, citing something about Stain’s ideology. Shigaraki was quick to defend your captivity.
“This world -no- hero society classifies people like us as villains or undesirables. But the healers? They’re never judged for their quirks. They never become villains. How are we supposed to keep ourselves alive, when hospitals would call the heroes? How are we supposed to be healed when the healers themselves are aligned with heroes?” Shigaraki monologues. It’s not hard to guess how he feels about the current hero system. Under the hand mask, his eyes hold a rage you’ve never seen before. Just his expression alone chills you to your core. “It’s karmic rebalancing. A means to an end.”
Shigaraki’s seething speech seemed to placate Spinner. There’s still some reluctance in his body language and expression, but evidently, his hesitation isn’t enough for him to protest further. You bite your cheek, frustrated at the way things are going for you. Maybe there’s still hope for you to convince Spinner, but the odds are becoming slimmer. It’s enough to make you sulk.
After you’re dismissed by Shigaraki, you head to your room to stew in your own disappointment. You’re feeling far too hopeless and exasperated to brainstorm other avenues of escape. Instead, you bury your head deep into the pillows and let out a good scream. Your muffled shout gives you a little bit of catharsis. Your sulking is short lived, as your time alone is interrupted. The door to your room bursts open. Out of reflex, you instantly shoot up from your bed, scrambling to sit up straight. The suddenness startles you, causing your mind to instantly assume there’s some sort of emergency. Toga bounds over to you with an excited smile on her face. Evidently, she’s unharmed and unworried. No emergency this time.
Toga practically drags you into her room, citing a need for ‘League girl-time’. You’re not exactly in the position to deny her, with being a hostage and all, so you go along with it. She urges you to sit on the floor along with her and Magne. You take a seat across from the two of them, settling yourself on a pink pillow. While the two of them talk, you take a moment to look at your surroundings. The layout is the same as yours with identical furnishings. She’s clearly decorated the space to make it her own. Her room is exactly what you’d expect for a teenage girl, pink decor with a bed drowning in plushies. The only part that ticks you off to her unusual fixation lies on her desk. There’s an assortment of knives and tubes of blood littering the table. How fitting.
A thought dawns on you upon staring at her knife collection. Maybe this could be useful to you.  ‘Taking one wouldn’t be such a bad idea, I might need some sort of self-defense in the future,’ You think. ‘Toga’s got plenty, surely she wouldn’t notice one missing, right?’
“Aw man, I screwed up! I can never do the other hand right,” Toga complains. Her exclaim pulls you out of your thoughts and you shift your eyes to her. She’s pouting while trying to wipe off the smeared polish from her skin. It only makes the smudges worse, staining her nearby skin in red polish.
You remember seeing a bottle of nail polish remover near where you sat, so you pass it to her. “Looks like you could use this,” you offer.
She gladly takes it from your hands and thanks you. The acetone dissolves the smudged polish, fixing her mistake. You can tell a lightbulb must have gone off in her head, as she turns to you and asks, “Hey, y/n, are you good at doing nails?”
“I’m alright at it, I guess,” you answer modestly.
“Would you mind painting this hand for me?” She questions in a small voice. It’s hard to rationalize denying such a tame request. You find yourself agreeing, to which she welcomes with an appreciative smile. She moves over closer to you and presents her non-dominant hand. You start carefully painting the rest of her nails.
“So,” Magne starts. She turns to Toga, addressing her question to the teen. “Shigaraki said our next mission will make UA look pathetic. What do you think of his plan, Toga?” You’re not sure where you heard the name ‘UA’ before, but it somehow feels familiar. Maybe its some sort of hero association? An agency maybe? You regret not learning more about the hero culture of Japan. Pushing it off and assuming you’d learn about it better firsthand clearly didn’t work out for you, after getting kidnapped and all.
The two of them continue the conversation, not noticing your confusion. “I’m really looking forward to it. There was a boy I saw from the UA sports festival that seemed really cool, maybe I’ll get to meet him!” She gushes. Toga begins to passionately ramble about the boy, her pale cheeks flushing in excitement. “He’s got green hair and a quirk that leaves him really beat up. I bet he’d look even cooler covered in blood!”
Their discussion seems to veer off into a tangent about past crushes. You’re silently thankful their conversation shifts. Hearing their future plans worries you too much, even if you don’t fully understand what they’re talking about. You tune out their conversation, instead focusing on finishing up Toga’s nails. The conversation around you seems to just melt away. Their talk about what type of person they like becomes background noise to you. Or, at least it did until Magne wanted to know your input on the topic.
“So, y/n, what’s your type?” Magne turns to you and asks.  It’s a sudden question to you, not one you were expecting from her. You pause.
“Like, the type of person I’m attracted to?” You ask for clarification, desperately hoping she meant anything else. Your wishful thinking ceases when Magne nods. You shift uncomfortably. What have you gotten yourself into?
“Yeah, I wanna know too,” Toga agrees. “You know I like people covered in blood, so I wanna know what you like!” You feel both of their eyes watching you, expectantly. Maybe you can attempt to lie your way out of this.
“I… I just like someone with a good personality, that’s all,” you lie. You’re worried about what kind of attention your true answer would bring. Just thinking about all the possible, awkward situations it would cause is enough to make your cheeks flame.
“Come on, that’s boring, be more specific!” Toga whines. She’s disappointed with your answer, but it’s better for you this way.
“There’s no shame in a woman knowing what she wants, you should be more honest,” Magne agrees. You groan in response, still refusing to budge. “We won’t judge you for your tastes.”
“Yeah! Why’re you so embarrassed? Unless…” she trails off, voice becoming more mischievous towards the end. You don’t like where this is heading. “Maybe there’s someone in the league that is your type.” Either you’re more expressive than you think, or Toga is good at reading you, as she lets out an excited squeal. “Eek! Do you have a crush? Who is it?”
“What? No! No way,” you frantically refute. Toga and Magne remain unconvinced, perhaps even more sure of the truth.
“I bet I can guess!” Toga wagers.
“It wouldn’t be hard, there’s only so many of us,” Magne agrees.
“I’m not saying anything,” you deadpan. Toga thinks on it for a moment, tapping her finger on her lips in a thoughtful gesture. A lightbulb must have gone off in her head as she opens her mouth to speak.
“I can see you liking those refined types, sorta like Mr.Compress!” Toga guesses. You’re thankful she’s not correct. Evidently, your expression is telling. She pouts upon studying your reaction. “Dang, I was wrong, huh?”
“‘M not saying anything,” you remind, still refusing to budge. You finish up painting her nails, hoping busying yourself would hide your expressions. You don’t notice how Magne scrutinizes you, too distracted with Toga’s whines. The teen tries to goad you into giving her hints, before Magne snaps her fingers. Her gesture silences you and Toga. You and Toga look at her expectantly.
“You’re into guys with a rough edge to them. The dark, mysterious, and witty types of guys,” She predicts. You feel a bit mortified at how she figured it out, but you’re trying your damnedest not to show it. Magne sees right through you and smirks. “It’s gotta be Dabi.”
“N-no no no, that’s not-” you try to deny. Your attempts at convincing otherwise fall on deaf ears.
“Woah, Big Sis Magne is good at this,” Toga marvels. You feel your cheeks burn the longer the conversation goes on. “How do you do it?”
“What can I say? I’m a lady with a keen eye,” Magne gloats. “I suspected we had similar tastes.”
A succession of knocking on the door interrupts the conversation. You’re initially thankful for the interruption, but when the door swings open, you rethink that relief. It’s Dabi.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
“Y/n,” He addresses. You stiffen and straighten your posture. “I’m a little burnt. Mind helping me out?”
“A-Alright, ‘m coming,” you agree. You rise from your spot on the floor. Your eyes catch Magne giving you a not so subtle wink. The action makes more heat rise to your cheeks. Damn, this is embarrassing.
“You’re interrupting girl time, you know,” Toga pouts.  He rolls his eyes.
“Don’t care,” Dabi retorts. Toga sticks her tongue out at him, to which he reciprocates with a glare. When you meet him at the door, he guides you forward with a tentative hand on the small of your back. His other hand catches the door and shuts it behind the both of you. You can clearly hear the conversation between Toga and Magne through the door. Your mind can’t help but nervously wonder how much of the conversation Dabi heard.
The anxious questioning in your mind distracts you from noticing how much touchier Dabi is today. His warm palm retracts from the curve of your spine, fingers softly dragging along your back in the process. Despite how warm his hand feels, the featherlight sensation of his makes you shudder. His hand brushes yours a few times while the two of you walk to your room, the contact only making your nervousness worsen.
Toga’s room is not far from yours, so it doesn’t take long for you to arrive at your door. Dabi casually makes himself comfortable on your bed while you retrieve the first aid kit. Before you use your quirk, you disinfect his wounds and inspect the state of his body. You’re able to visibly see that most of his burns are on his arms and hands, but the lower levels of tissue have been damaged. It’ll take longer to heal this, especially if he wants it treated today. You take a deep breath, steeling your nerves for the long healing session ahead of you.
You begin the healing process on his hands first. It takes time for the skin to even start healing over, leading you to focus a lot of your energy just in one area. Despite your best efforts, your mind keeps wandering, thinking about Dabi, your feelings, and how it all fits in with your situation. You find yourself wishing you met under different circumstances and wondering what he’d be like if he chose a different path in life. Magne was right, Dabi was your type. Not only that, but you enjoyed talking to him. Even healing him wasn’t much of a chore to you. What stops you from pursuing anything is the whole being a criminal part and complicit in your captivity part. You wish you could just shut your feelings off so you could focus solely on scheming a way out. But alas, you cannot fight feelings. You can’t fight the heartbeat in your chest when he touches you. You can’t fight the breath he steals when his eyes meet yours. You can’t fight the playful banter exchanged between the two of you. You can’t fight the attraction you feel towards Dabi.
You focus back on reality when you feel the numbness creep up your fingers. Upon glancing down, you notice your fingers are turning darker. His hands seem to be healed up enough, but there are still burns on his arms. Should you push your quirk and keep healing him, you’d likely start seeing the effects of frostbite. It’s time for a break.
“Hey, I’m near my limit. I need to warm up before we continue,” you explain. “It might take some time for me to stop feeling so cold.”
“How long are you thinking?” He asks.
“Depends. Maybe an hour if I get under blankets? It might be faster if I take a hot shower instead.”
“That’d take too long, I have a better idea.”
The roles are reversed as he grabs both of your hands. You’re about to ask, but the words die on your lips. His hands heat up, slightly above his usual temperature. The warmth he gives off relaxes your cold hands and you let out a pleased sigh.
“That feels better already. I didn’t know you could do this, thanks,” you say with a breathy voice.
“‘S no big deal,” he mumbles. Dabi turns his gaze to your hands and notices how well your hands fit into his. Time seems to slow. The two of you let the minutes tick by, hand in hand. His thumb lazily traces your skin. Such a simple, delicate action manages to ignite electricity where he touches you. He makes it hard to ignore the attraction you feel.
Still, something about the situation feels like you’re crossing a line. It feels forbidden, like you’re losing yourself the more you enjoy his touch. Reluctantly, you pull your hands out of his. He fights the feeling of disappointment when you do so. “I’m feeling better now, but I’ll let you know when I’m cold, okay?” His eyes meet yours as he merely nods in response.
Time passes on as you heal him, with more instances of Dabi warming your hands and more internal battles with complicated feelings. Your thoughts seem to go in circles, starting with you thinking about giving into your desires and enjoying the way Dabi makes you feel, and then fearing you’re feeling the beginnings of Stockholm syndrome, only to end back at the start. It’s getting harder and harder to ignore the league’s humanity and remember your end goal. With Dabi, it feels impossible. He’s cold and detached from the others, yet with you, he’s surprisingly pleasant and easygoing. You hate to admit, but you find a bit of solace in him.
During your deep thinking, your hands have climbed farther and farther up the expanse of his arms, leaving healed skin in the wake of your touch. You’re almost done, but you find yourself feeling a bit woozy. Quirk specialists warned you that using your quirk saps your own energy, but you never experienced that downfall of your quirk. The hypothermic side effect was your biggest concern, but with how Dabi’s warmth negates the cold, you’ve pushed past your usual limit. Is that what you’re feeling? An energy depletion?
You stop healing him the instant the feeling worsens. It’s too bad you’re a moment too late. The room seems to spin around you and your body begins to feel heavy. Your vision even looks fuzzy around the edges. Dabi notices you swaying on the spot. There’s a look of delirium on your face and you seem to be blinking slower than usual. He can tell something is off.
“Hey, are you-” The rest of his sentence dies on his lips when your eyes roll back and you start to fall backwards. He springs into action, quickly standing up to catch you. You’re pulled flush against his own body. He’s bearing the brunt of your weight, while your foggy mind struggles to react. It takes a few seconds for your e/c eyes to flutter back open. You look up at his cobalt blue eyes with a mixture of confusion and panic upon realizing you can’t stand. Your hands clutch onto his shirt sleeves, fingers bunching up the fabric.
He catches onto your anxiety, and assures you, “I gotcha, you’re okay.” Your weak legs twitch, attempting to move and hold your body up. “‘M not going to let you fall, relax.”
Your bodies are so close he realizes that he can feel your heartbeat against his chest, only to notice your heart rate slows to a more relaxed pace. He can feel some of the tension in your body subside. If the circumstances were different, he thinks he’d enjoy the sensation of being so close to you, the sensation of touching you. He can’t help but think he should, but any shred of satisfaction is replaced with a gnawing concern for you. There’s this desire in him to take care of you right now, a desire he relents to as he guides you to your bed and gently lays you down. You seem to weakly nestle into the pillows, your body appreciating the rest. While you’re relieved to no longer be in danger of falling, he’s still internally freaking out. You seemed to just faint out of nowhere to him, there’s something seriously wrong with you. He’s still close enough to you to discern your lips are turning blue. Instantly, his brows furrow in concern. Are you cold now too?
He touches the back of his hand to your cheek, confirming his question. Your skin is like ice, you must be freezing all over. He thinks you must still be a bit delirious, as he catches you leaning into his touch, an action he never pictured from anyone. You whisper a meek, “So warm.”
“This a side effect of your quirk?” He asks, trying to mask his worry with feigned curiosity. You’re in no state to analyze his tone, so his concern goes entirely unnoticed by you.
“Mm, I think so,” You tiredly slur. “Seems like my quirk used up my energy.”
“Is there anything you can do? Anything you need?”
“Don’t know, never had this happen before,” you whisper. You attempt to close your eyes and sleep, but he nudges you awake, earning a displeased groan from you. Your eyes open slowly as you look up at him with a pouty expression. “I just wanna sleeeep,” you whine.
“If you’re out of energy you need to eat something,” he scolds. Truthfully, he’s talking out of his ass. It might help, but he’s just guessing at this point. You don’t seem to have any clue what to do either, as you’re in no state to think of solutions. He’s just a bit afraid of you not waking back up, should you fall asleep now.
“But ‘m dizzy and the kitchen is so farrr,” you complain.
“Guess you got a point there,” he softly chuckles and agrees. “I’ll get you something, okay? So stay awake until I get back.” You meely nod in agreement with his terms, despite how heavy your lids feel. He leaves your room and shuts your door, before heading downstairs to the kitchen. It dawns on him that he’s treating you differently than the rest of the league. He’s even helping you without being asked to, without any immediate benefit to him. Why the fuck is he doing this for you anyways? Why did your whining and pouting not piss him off? Why does seeing you like this worry him? Why does he even care what happens to you? His next thought makes him stop in his tracks.
Oh shit.
It’s because he fucking likes you.

Tolling with 2 Ideas for the Doctor Hamada comic and I need help deciding.
Hiro is going to die. That’s not changing. But HOW , or, more accurately, how SOON he dies is the question.
The original plan was for him to die in the fire that killed Tadashi in the Big Hero 6 Movie. The question is, however, does he, well, explode into pieces, or should I give an emotional scene with doctor-in-training tadashi trying to save his beloved little brother, after running in the building after the explosion,… Tadashi preforming every life saving technique he knows.
Before he is forced off of the boy, crying and screaming for Hiro as the white sheet is placed over the lifeless boy’s body, being rolled away on a gurney.

My Interests!
Here’s a list of all the fandoms I’m in/was into! (WARNING: Very long post ahead! If you want to see what fandoms I’m w/o the reading, just look at the tags!)
EDIT: NEVERMIND, THE TAG LIMIT FOILED ME /GEN /LH I am SO sorry, but the last few fandoms got cut out from the tag list! You’ll have to scroll down to the bottom to see them-
Crowned: These fandoms are VERY near and dear to my heart- and I’m ALWAYS willing to talk about them!
The Legend of Zelda: This is the fandom that introduced me to the internet back in 2019 (I’m a late bloomer, I know- XDDD), and kickstarted me making theories and analyses!
Friday Night Funkin: Hate it or love it, you can’t deny there are some amazing individuals out there! And for you modders out there, this game is actually heavily moddable- and one mod in particular was what caused FNF to blow up in the first place! This is actually the fandom I’m hyper fixating on right now-
Favorites: While they aren’t as important to me as the “crowned” ones, they still managed to hold my attention for a month or so- and that’s something to admire, considering how hyper my brain is!
Animator Vs Animation: This is the fandom that introduced me to Tumblr and AO3 back in the late summer of 2021- don’t worry, @ann-aha, you’re not alone! XDDD
Oh, and I can’t talk about “AvA” without mentioning the rest of the stick figure community! Shout out to Henry Stickmin, Rock Hard Gladiators/Hyun’s Dojo, Hyun, and Gildedguy! :D
Genshin Impact: Contrary to popular opinion, this game isn’t just for “nerds” or people who can afford to splurge thousands of dollars- I managed to complete the current (back then!) storyline as a free-to-player! While I’m not in the fandom anymore, at least give this one a chance?
Undertale: Ah yes, the funny skeleton man fandom /j /lh But seriously, this fandom isn’t all “Sans Fangirls”- just search up animations and artwork! Or, better yet- search up a full play through of the game (I recommend this order for newcomers- Neutral, Pacifist, Genocide) and let the story and gameplay do the talking! ^^
Just Shapes and Beats: Exactly what it says on the tin. Pro tip- once you’ve seen the full story mode, go check out KofiKrumble!
Minecraft: Of course I’d be into this fandom at some point, everyone will! I’m not into DreamSMP (please don’t kill me I’m just not interested in stuff like server-wide wars), but I AM fond of Hermitcraft and Empires!
Normal: I don’t really think about these fandoms too often, but they deserve a mention!
Harry Potter
Voltron: Legendary Defender
My Hero Academia
The Owl House (hey, while this fandom isn’t one of my favorites, you bet I watched the finale and cried the whole time!)
Doki Doki Literature Club (somewhat- in my master post, I mentioned I hate horror, so I avoid gameplay and stick to tvtropes/summaries- sorry- ^^;)
Kipo & The Age of Wonderbeasts
Pokémon
How To Train Your Dragon
Marvel (The Avengers!)
Mario
Splatoon
Kirby
Subnautica
Trollhunters (and the rest of the Tales of Arcadia! I LOVED that series- except for Rise of The Titans. We don’t talk about Rise of The Titans. /gen /lh)
Carmen Sandiego
Amphibia
“The Big Three”: These were the fandoms I was into as a little kid, and inspired me to start making fan fiction & headcanons!
Kung Fu Panda: Oh my god, I loved this series- and a 4th movie’s coming in 2024!
Big Hero Six: This is the OG- the first fandom I EVER got into! :D
Wakfu: Yugo accidentally inspired an OC (no info- yet! Not unless I learn how to draw!), so it’d be a crime to not include this fandom!
Well, I think that’s all- for now! If you want to learn about favorite characters, theories, head canons and the like- just ask! :D

Cutscenes #40: Proposition
Obake finds Globby to make him an offer.
What the heck is someone doing in here?! I already called finders keepers, losers weepers on this place and at the very least, it’s rude to not even knock first, Globby internally complained as he held onto the metal girder, scanning for the intruder and silently hoping he didn’t drip any to give away his location.
Hearing calm, slow footsteps echo throughout the structure made the pink and purple being’s eyes look around for the source; then, stepping into a sunbeam that illuminated the inside, a well-dressed figure emerged a few seconds later.
Globby tilted his head in curiosity as he inspected the man. He was tall and slender with sharp features, wearing a black vest, dark slacks and had a streak of red through his patch of black hair. The mysterious person appeared to be gazing around the cluttered building too until his eyes fell on a puddle of slime left from Globby’s previous time on the floor, making him smirk in satisfaction. Darn it, the transparent monster silently cursed as the man briefly bent down to look at the goo before standing straight again.
“I know you’re in here,” the unknown gentleman calmly announced, causing the aforementioned mutant to wince as nervousness seeped more into his body.

Touken Ranbu:  The Contradictory Tale of Genji
Part 2/3 - Cast:
(I’m going by romanization in the program, which might differ from their Takarazuka days)
Here is the list of actors and their program introduction.  There’s more to the Genji Monogatari cast that will be elaborated on in the spoiler section.
OG = Takarazuka OG, specifically otokoyaku TR = Touken Ranbu character GM = Tale of Genji character
Tumblr media
Holy Takarazuka OG Batman!!  What a star-studded cast! For me at least.  I was drooling over this casting. All the named male roles were performed by otokoyaku retired from Takarazuka.  It’s good to see the craft continue outside the big revue companies.  This is in no small part thanks to Nanami Hiroki who actively continued otokoyaku work outside Takarazuka.  There are the likes of Amami Yuuki and Sagiri Sena who have performed genderbent roles in their OG career on occasion.  However, that was an exception in a true to gender cast.  This is the first big production I’ve seen with all female casting outside Takarazuka.  It worked incredibly well since the actors involved specialize in stuff like that.  Also, with Takarazuka otokoyaku garnering a reputation of portraying idealized men, it made sense that they would portray fictionally idealized men about a novel lead by the perfect romantic hero.  Overall, very impressed by the acting talent.  I did enter the lottery three times to see this cast live lol.
Of the OGs on stage, I’m most familiar with Nanami Hiroki, Ayanagi Sho, and Seto Kazuya.  They happen to play the major characters.  The lead role is Nanami Hiroki as Kasen Kanesada closely followed by Ayanagi Sho as Okurika.  These two swords are basically foils of each other.  Kasen Kanesada is the cultured sword named after the Thirty-six Immortals of Poetry (or the 36 retainers his master killed, depending on your interpretation).  He’s the level-headed leader and refined poetry master, making him ideal for being trapped in a literary work.  Okurikara is the brash brawler sword.  He belonged to the son of Date Masamune and if son resembles father at all, that explains the thirst for battle.  Also, a lot of his design refers to a fierce Buddhist deity who removes obstacles so makes sense he tries to brute force his way out of a problem.  As these two were possessed by Genji, they had the heaviest roles having to play two characters with one having to match Seto Kazuya’s acting.  Both Kai and Ayaka did great and captured their respective characters.  I barely recognized Sho and it wasn’t just the brown-face, she did something a bit different with her makeup.  Akira is perfect for Genji.  She is a versatile actor who can handle both drama and comedy.  Here she wholeheartedly embodies the tragic hero and bitter villain (book protagonist but show antagonist, an interesting twist).  She did such a good job I didn’t even recognize her as the nameless creeper fan until I checked the program.  She played dweeby, shy nerd for that brief scene so convincingly, I thought it was a different actor.
The rest of the touken danshi serve as fanservice and comic relief.  It’s a bunch of OGs playing Ichimonji swords, mostly relatively new collectables in the game.  All anyone needs to know are the silver color characters are Uesugi swords who are there to be the cool, silent types.  The blond boys have a bit more lines.  Aya Oka as Ichimonji Norimune, expensive old man sword, will act suave and pretty in between scenes.  Nansen Ichimonji by Shiotsuki Syu is the comic relief.  Legend is the sword split a cat in two and was then cursed by the dead cat, hence all the cat mannerisms and frustrated meowing.  So Fuku here has to act the cat and also act the young, explosive lad.  She does the most audience-insert snarky commentary and slapstick of the side characters.  She wasn’t too distracting or detracted from the story.  In fact, she was genuinely funny and earned a lot of intentional chuckles and laughs from the crowd.
The musumeyaku, as we will call them here, I am not as familiar with as they are mostly idols and actresses from the part of Japanese pop culture I do not follow as closely.  Everyone did a good job and were absolutely beautiful in their juunihito kimono.  Now this is a Touken Ranbu show so naturally the Tale of Genji cast are secondary characters.  However, each of the Genji cast was tasked with a double role that was important in carrying the theme.  Including Akira, they each played a “real” person from the Heian era and a book character.
Half of the musumeyaku cast are basically random court ladies that, as a group, represent friends and fans of Murasaki Shikibu.  However, they have more to do in the Tale of Genji isekai as Aoi no Ue, Utsusemi, and Suetsumuhana.  What is important to note is their brief lines in the book club flashback when they discuss their favorite characters with the Empress.  The discussion extends to the solace and inspiration they find from the text.  Ironically, they all turn into their favorite characters when sucked into the book so perhaps that is why they so easily went with the flow.  Aoi no Ue’s realworld counterpart is presumably going through a rocky marriage or having trouble conceiving so sympathizes with the character.  Utsusemi finds inspiration in her character’s strong sense of morality and self-respect.  Suetsumuhana is actually a bimbo enjoying the story?  Well, she is basically comic relief on the girl’s side.  In the book, she’s known for that little red nose and the fact that she’s broke and dull because her family fell on hard times so lacks an education.  She even gets a clown mask with a giant nose to represent her morning-after cold for a bit of levity.
The other ladies carry are more relevant to the theme.  We learn in Act 2 that Lady Rokujo (Genji’s MILF poetry teacher turned mistress), is actually the Empress in real life.  She is having marital and thus political troubles with the Emperor and feels trapped so gravitates towards Lady Rokujo for catharsis.  After all, Lady Rokujo of book fame goes wild and outright haunts her enemies by sheer will.  In reverse, we have Lady Koshosho, Murasaki’s best friend and a humble court lady, reincarnate as the villain empress in the book.  At the center of it all, we learn that the author Murasaki Shikibu has taken the role as unobtainable true love Consort Fujitsubo.  These three women are more prominent in the real world timeline.  The Empress voicing one opinion about fiction as head of book club, Lady Koshosho being avid book promoter and introductory character who links scenes, and Murasaki being the godly author of the book.  Minamoto Maho as both Murasaki Shikibu and Consort Fujitsubo is fitting as the lofty author is as grand a figure in her fictional universe as the idolized woman Fujitsubo.  Genji has a complicated love-hate relationship with her that blurs the line between character and creator.  Not much to say about her as Fujitsubo since she just has to stand there and be pretty while Genji angsts in the foreground.  However, she really shines as the author.  Murasaki Shikibu within the play raises some interesting points regarding storytelling and fiction as we observe her life and the people impacted by her story and finding a place in history.  A lot of Japanese portrayal of women, even with women protagonists, write them rather passively.  In the case of this show, we see internal conflict and agency from Murasaki as she strives to finish her novel against criticism and backlash.  Also, I would be remiss to not discuss young Murasaki, played by a set of child actresses.  The one in my showing was very professional in her line delivery and performed well.  Of course, she was super cute.
Even extras were noteworthy people with previous works in major franchises, some were household names by Japanese standards.  We had voice actor from a Final Fantasy mobile game, guy in BLEACH musical, and boy band member.
Overall, all the actors brought their talent to the table so I have no complaints!

I’m re-writing my intro because I’ve finally come up with a title for my WIP, and I’ve got different graphics now that fit in with the dark fantasy that I write a bit better than loads of cutesy pink!
So, you can call me Eleanora Rose. I’m 30, from the UK, and I use they/them pronouns. I write dark fantasy, sometimes with a humorous twist, and sometimes with just pure grimdark vengeance coursing the the story’s veins.
I like cats, the dulcet tones of Hozier, swearing, spiting my enemies, and the combination of opals and garnets. My favourite book is The Priory of the Orange Tree and I love the Dragon Age game series.
I don’t like capitalism and my curious ability to kill any and every plant I try to grow (all I long for is to be a plant parent!).
On this blog, you’ll find snippets of my WIP as well as flash fiction based in its universe and posts detailing some of its worldbuilding. I’m also a big fan of shitposts and sharing tips and resources for writers.

Retruk, a goblin that parted ways with their clan on terms worse-than-bad, also joins the party. They simply want a bit of company, is all. Plus they can throw a mean fireball, and surely that will help on our heroes adventure, right?
Join the queer-as-heck trio in their epic journey that span an entire continent filled with magic, mayhem, corruption, and a good bit of knowing humour, too.

*Sigh*
. . . I'd never thought I'd do this. . .
A few months ago, I said that I could never pull off proper fanfic because my fear of it not getting attention. But here I am, with several WIPs, taking a break from playing video games to create content along with other things, so it made all the weirder when I decided on what I wanted to do. . .
Folks, after a bit, I decided to make write my first ever, proper fanfiction. I'm not talking about just visual storytelling like my other AUs, I'm talking about actually ao3 level fanfic, except on tumblr. Unfortunately, I can't force on this entirely, due to having such a cramp schedule and my other WIPs
Till I finish those, I hoping I can begin work on the prologue before anything big happens. What exactly is this chunk of fiction about? Well don't ask. . .
Might you be interested in. . .
⏰Anything And Everything, All Of The Time⏰
~A Cookie Run Kingdom AU, Created By Mei_TheBear~
For those who don't know about my recent ramble, the plot of this AU is such; The Five Ancient Heroes accidentally summon our favorite sci-fi eldridge being and cyprid, Timekeeper, and have to be their main sources of entertainment. Originally, I made this AU to comeback the lack of content we've been getting with these six, and it ended becoming way bigger. I had so many other ideas for this AU, one of making TK Pure Vanilla Cookie's long-lost siblings. But after a few tweets, I ended up with something I'm generally happy with
But that, however, is now why I made this. I made this post to explain major factors in the story (roles, etc.) That without, may confuse first-time readers. So, if you're reading this now, you're in luck. Let's get into it!
Millennia Tree and the other legendaries probably plays the biggest role in the main plot. MT was also the closest with Timekeeper before the "incident." Key word here is "was," in my AU, they have an ex-boyfriend/crazy ex-girlfriend relationship.TK is obsessed in MT, in more ways than one, wanting to do more than put his head on a spike
Twizzly Gummy plays a major role in the story, starting the domino-effect that led to the Timekeeper being freed. Other than that, Twizzly is going to be the "Sammy Lawrence" of the story, influenced by TK and treating them like a god. Clotted Cream Cookie will also play a big part in this. Playing as our antagonist, he became fixated on the Timekeeper and wanting to know to anything and everything about them, nearly being driven to break of insanity trying to find a possible weakness. Characters like Gingerbrave won't be as important, but will serve as support for Clotted Cream and will make appearances
Anyone that exposed themselves all types of different media be prepared, there's going to be a lot of references to different songs, movies, musicals, tv shows, even other video games, all of which well be tied into the story. Speaking songs, I have tons of songs planned for this AU, we are talking about the Timekeeper; hard to say they wouldn't be a fan of musical theater
Another thing is slight similarities between the backstories of Timekeeper and Dark Enchantress, I'm saying "slight" because I've recently done a bit tweaking to TK orginal story. Timekeeper, becoming the way they are through boredom, whilst White Lily Cookie turning into DE was an act of curiosity
Speaking of curiosity, the first half of the story I view as a cautionary tale in two ways:
1. The dangers of curiosity
How we as a society try to find logic in what is unknown. We a need to question every little detail to have a better understanding of it. And how some are better unsolved. . .
2. Don't be cocky
Doesn't matter who you are, your status, how many weapons you have or how much a$$ you kick on a daily; they'll always someone bigger and stronger, ready to take you down. Whether that be from jesus christ or time itself, they'll always someone after you
Tldr: 'Anything and Everything, All of The Time' will officially become a fanfic on tumblr, not ao3 though- I made this post to prepare you for the possible sh*t storm you'll read. I do plan on making and posting a prologue the next month given the chance, so that's something to be on the lookout for
And as always, stay tuned^^

Chapter Eighty-Six: The Newish Oldish Kid
You laid in the grass outside, just breathing in the fresh air on U.A. campus. You ran your fingers through the natural foliage, humming to yourself. Ochaco was lying next to you, content with having you beside her. Once you’d explained what had happened, she was grateful that you had returned. She was more concerned than anything, having not had heard from you in so long. She tried her best to catch you up, but a lot had happened.
“Yeah, we were pitted against class 1-B,” she continued to explain. “It wasn’t the same without you though.” She frowned. “Honestly, it was pretty hard to focus. Everyone seemed a bit out of it. Not to mention, a new student was introduced from class 1-B. After you and Shinso had joined class 1-A, I guess the teachers thought it wouldn’t be fair. He did have to prove himself in the competition between the two classes. He was pretty good.” She sighed. “He was kind of arrogant though.” She rolled over, twisting a blade of glass between her fingers. “He seemed familiar too.”
“Familiar?” you asked. “Did he transfer from another school from here in Japan?”
“He’s from the United States like you were.”
“Really? A lot of prospective heroes transfer overseas, don’t they?”
“U.A. is a pretty good hero school after all. One of the best.” Ochaco grinned. She narrowed her eyes mischievously. “So, how have the boys been since you’ve gotten back?”
You frowned, crossing your arms over your chest and looking up into the sky. “You’re just asking for the bet.”
“No,” she said, giggling. “Maybe.”
“Real nice.” You smiled despite yourself. “The boys…” You mulled over each of them in your mind. “They have been distant. I think they’re trying to give me some space, after… Well, you know…”
Ochaco fell silent. “I’m not really sure that I do know what happened. You didn’t actually talk about it.” She stood up, leaning over you with her hands on her knees. Her brown hair fell forward. “You told me about your parents and what school they forced you into, but I feel like you’re not telling me everything.”
You turned your face away, and the grass tickled your cheek. “There wasn’t much to tell. I was locked in my room for most of the time.”
“Shinso mentioned something about BioVirus being there. W-was he trying to kidnap you again?”
You winced, thinking about what Kobura had sacrificed to get you back into U.A.. Your jaw tightened. “I’m surprised Shinso said anything at all, considering he didn’t tell anyone what had happened. He was the only one there when I left.” Your voice was more venomous than you intended it to be, and you instantly regretted your words. “Kobur—” You shut your mouth. “BioVirus didn’t get a chance to take me. They took him to prison right after he threatened to hurt my parents.”
Ochaco blinked her big brown eyes at you. Her eyebrows knitted together in concern. “Still, it must have been pretty scary to be targeted like that again.” Ochaco tilted her head in thought. “To be fair, Mr. Aizawa sort of explained what happened. Shinso was pretty distraught after you left. He cut himself off from everyone. Kaminari couldn’t even get him to quip a retort when he told a less than appropriate joke.” Ochaco leaned back, stretching her arms overhead.
You let out a heavy breath. “I…” You bit hard into your bottom lip. “I don’t really want to talk about it anymore. Can we just focus on moving forward? I’ve got some hero studies to catch up on since I’ve been gone.”
“I’m not going to say no to some positivity. I hate talking about the depressing stuff anyway.”
Ochaco held out a hand to you, and you took it. She helped you stand up. The two of you spent the rest of the day together, eating candy and chatting. It turned out Ochaco had been a bit bolder toward Midoriya, but it was sailing right over his head. She had asked if he wanted to have a picnic out on the courtyard lawn, and he asked if Todoroki could join them. Needless to say, that was an awkward lunch period with the three of them.
The way to describe the two days after returning to U.A. were peaceful. The anxiety had left your chest. You managed to rest easier in your dorm. You also managed to make it to class without any problems, despite the boys providing you with a little more space. You would have to ask them to walk with you again. You missed Shinso and Shoto’s early morning company.
This particular morning, you were juggling way too many books in your hands. You woke up a little later than normal, and you didn’t find enough time to shove them in your backpack. You were regretting not taking the extra minute or two to do so now. You shifted the load into one of your arms to free up your hand for the door to the stairs.
“I thought that was you, Shortcake,” a male voice drawled out.
The hair on the back of your neck stood on end. Nausea climbed up your throat. The books you were holding fell with a heavy thud as your heart raced in your chest. It couldn’t have been him. You hadn’t heard that voice in so long. You hadn’t heard that voice since you were still living in the United States.
“You know it’s rude not to look someone in the eyes when they’re talking to you,” the boy continued.
You were paralyzed in fear, trembling. Memories. Painful, embarrassing, and haunting memories collapsed in on your brain. It couldn’t have been Jett, the same boy that had broken your heart in middle school. He ruined your confidence with his false niceties. He broke your heart and your trust all in one fell swoop. You could still see that rose being crushed between his fingers.
“Don’t tell me that you don’t remember me, Shortcake. We used to be such good friends. It’s your old pal, Jett Gibson. Don’t tell me it’s not you,” he said. His footsteps got closer, and you steeled yourself. He leaned ahead of you. His long black hair swept past you like a curtain, now dyed at the tips in bright yellow colors. His orange eyes examined you with curiosity. He grinned. “See. I knew it was you.” He whistled. “You sure do look different. This hero school must have done wonders for you, Shortcake.” He reached out, casually brushing his fingers through your hair. “I’m surprised your parents let you put blue highlights in your hair.”
“They’re natural,” you managed, gulping. The color only recently had started coming back in after your mother had dyed it.
“Wish mine were,” Jett replied, motioning to his yellow tips. “Heard rumors of a mind freak roaming these halls, but then I also heard you’d transferred out. It was nice to bump into you.” He kicked over the books you dropped, so he could open the door to the stairs. “See you around, Shortcake,” he crooned. His voice made you dizzy.
The door shut behind him, and your knees went weak. Ochaco had heard about Jett, but it wasn’t as if she had ever seen him. That’s why he seemed familiar to her. You took in a ragged breath.
He’s not in your class, you thought. He can’t hurt you here.
You’d just gained some semblance of normalcy back, and now a ghost from your past had appeared. Jett had always had a good quirk, but you never imagined that he would have gone to a hero school in Japan. It was natural for you as your father grew up here. Neither of his parents had a connection to Japan, as far as you understood. Even when the two of you were “friends,” his Japanese was hardly passable, and he used to make fun of his own pronunciations. It was almost as if he’d gone to U.A. to spite you, knowing how much he had affected your life at such a young age.
You collected your books, shakily putting them into your bag. You were going to be late to class, but there was no helping it. You ran, hoping you’d make it at a reasonable time and that Aizawa was rolling in late as usual. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
You stumbled into the classroom, and Aizawa shot you a dark glare.
“You’re late,” he muttered, and the room tensed.
“Sorry,” you said. “I-I don’t have an excuse,” you admitted, bowing apologetically.
Bakugo clicked his tongue, swinging his legs onto his desk like a delinquent. Aizawa’s gaze shifted over to him, his fury relocating.
“Legs off your desk, Bakugo. This is a classroom,” Mr. Aizawa warned.
You scuttled toward your seat, thankful that the attention had left you. Bakugo casually removed his feet from his desk, frowning. He sat forward with his hands in his pockets, shrugging.
“Whatever,” he scoffed.
You knew Bakugo well enough that he’d done that whole performance for your sake. You’d have to thank him later for the distraction. Mr. Aizawa was probably ready to lecture you.
Class droned on, but you were as attentive as you could be. You took pages and pages of notes in hopes it would distract you from the terrible truth you’d learned today. Your old bully was now in your dream school, training to be a hero no less. You chewed on the back of your pen anxiously.
The bell rang for dismissal, and you jolted upright in your seat. You buried your head in your hands in embarrassment from getting so easily frightened. You slid from your chair, collecting your things, but you couldn’t help feeling like you were being stared at.
“It’s not like you to be late,” Shoto said calmly. “I apologize if it had been my fault. Did you have trouble finding the classroom? I can start walking with you again if you would like. I was trying to…” Shoto cleared his throat. “…allow you some time to reacclimate again. I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable with my presence.” His shoulders dropped with his admission.
You turned your gaze up to him. “You don’t make me uncomfortable, Shoto, and I would really appreciate the company.” You strained a smile. “I-I didn’t get lost this morning.”
He raised an eyebrow at you. “You didn’t? Then, what happened?”
You pressed your lips together, contemplating saying anything about your encounter with your old classmate. You didn’t really want to worry him. Besides, Jett was in class 1-B, and you probably wouldn’t have that many interactions with him.
Shinso shouldered his way past Shoto, but it was gentle. He glanced at you, hesitating to continue out the classroom door. Things had been awkward with him since your return. You weren’t sure if he felt guilty for keeping his knowledge about you a secret, or if he felt partially to blame that he couldn’t stop you from leaving, but he was definitely avoiding you. He paused only for a second, before he continued on his way. You’d have to talk to Shinso, just to air everything out. He wasn’t to blame for what had happened, and you felt bad for even being frustrated with him for not talking about it.
“We can discuss it another time, if what happened isn’t something you are comfortable sharing,” Shoto offered.
You blinked at him. “That would help,” you said.
Shoto nodded in understanding, but he wasn’t the one who ever needed an explanation. Bakugo’s thunderous footfalls left you with no misunderstandings of who was approaching you from behind, and he wasn’t going to be as easy to appease.
“You owe me for that, Big Brain,” Bakugo said, referring to the distraction he had given you earlier in class. “What happened? You’ve been making it fine to class on your own for days now.”
“Sorry. I…” you gulped, feeling clammy sweat prick up on your skin. Thinking about the situation you had to deal with this morning made you squirm. You looked around for an excuse, but almost all of your classmates had already filtered out of the room.
Bakugo’s vermillion eyes scanned you over suspiciously. “If you just tell us what’s going on, we can do something about it,” he barked.
You quivered in response to his booming voice. Shoto placed a hand on your shoulder for reassurance.
“You don’t have to growl at her like an animal,” Shoto said to Bakugo, glaring at him.
Bakugo’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t snap back at Todoroki. His expression relaxed. “Something is clearly bothering you,” Bakugo said softer this time. He clicked his tongue, when you averted your gaze from his.
A sharp whistle ripped Bakugo’s attention away. It came from the classroom entrance.
“So, this is the famous 1-A classroom,” Jett said in false awe. “Thought it would be in shambles, considering how destructive this class of rejects are.”
Bakugo brought back his hands, small explosions popping off in his palms. “Who the hell is this Extra?” he asked.
You’d frozen in place, fear forcing your eyes downward. You curled your hands into fists on your lap, and you were visibly shaken by his sudden appearance. You didn’t expect him to show up to your homeroom. You thought he wouldn’t go out of his way to see you. You hoped this morning had just been a coincidence since you both attended the same school.
“That’s the new transfer student from class 1-B with that vocal modulation quirk, remember?” Shoto simply stated. “Our class fought his in our joint combat training.”
Bakugo’s defensive stance uncoiled a bit. “Never heard of him.”
Jett gave a lopsided sardonic smile. He put his hands out in a show of flashy presentation. “Maybe I should introduce myself again, then.” He took a step into the room.
Your whole body reacted, quaking at his intrusion. You shot up from your chair, backing into the desk next to you. Bakugo’s attention snapped in your direction. Realization came over him almost instantaneously as his expression hardened.
“Jett Gibson,” he introduced. “I’d say it was a pleasure if it actually was.” He grinned, tilting his head to the side, his predatory gaze slipping to you. “What’s the matter, Shortcake? You look uncomfortable.”
Shoto frowned from the pet name that Jett had so readily called you. “What gives you the right to be so informal with our friend?” he asked. Todoroki took a step protectively ahead of you.
“She was mine first,” Jett said casually.
His words made you sick. You were never his. He made a show of making sure everyone in your middle school knew how weird you were. He tore your confidence apart, piece by piece.
Bakugo bristled beside you, practically seething. “No one owns her,” Bakugo said. “Watch your mouth, Extra.”
Jett’s orange eyes slid over, his casual stare watching Bakugo’s movements. The temperature in the room shifted, as Shoto took in your growing discomfort.
“I’m surprised you found friends to take you in, Shortcake. I wonder if they know how weird you actually are. Even if this is a hero school, there can’t be that many freaks like you around. Maybe they pity you. I mean I know that I did. Everyone always saw you as a freak, and who could blame them? You can read anyone’s mind with your quirk at any time. You could even be reading mine right now. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it.” He grabbed his arms, shaking dramatically. “Such a manipulative and sneaky quirk for a hero, don’t you think? They must have made a mistake letting you in here. I wouldn’t put it past you to cheat your way in.”
“She would never cheat,” Bakugo snarled, taking a step forward. Explosions blasted off in his palms as a warning for Jett to back off.
“Anna is one of the kindest and most respectful individuals that I have ever met. I think you’re mistaken. If you keep saying such terrible things, I won’t hesitate to defend her in a physical manner.” Frost crept up Shoto’s right arm. A puff of condensed air left his lips.
Move, you begged yourself. Don’t just stand there frozen. Move.
Bakugo glanced between you and Jett. “You were the reason she was late to class,” he said.
Jett shrugged. “We had a chat.” He adjusted his school uniform tie. “Do you blame me for wanting to catch up with an old classmate?”
“Actually, I could find a means to blame you for ‘wanting’ to catch up. Considering the shit you’re spewing out of your mouth, I’m going to guess you were a real asshole about your reunion too,” Bakugo snapped.
“So scary. Monoma was right about you guys after all.”
“Stop,” you mumbled under your breath.
Jett raised an eyebrow, grinning. “She speaks? Thought you were going to let your dogs handle this.”
“Don’t talk about them like that,” you said with a little more force in your voice.
Jett leaned forward, putting his hands on his knees mockingly. “Or what, shortcake? You never fought back when we were in middle school together. Why would things change now?”
Your fists clenched tighter at your sides. You bit into your lip.
“What? You don’t like me anymore, Shortcake? Can’t even respond correctly?” he cooed condescendingly. “Are you going to act like you never had a thing for me? That would certainly disappointing. After seeing you this morning, I even made sure that I remembered to pick up something extra special just for you.” He reached back toward his bag.
Shoto and Bakugo tensed beside you. He procured a single red rose from his backpack, twisting it between his fingers with a knowing smile.
“I-I…” Fear rippled through your tiny form, remembering how viciously he had ripped your heart from your chest when you had confessed to him. Your attention fixated on the flower in his hands. You had spent your entire allowance on that single rose, only for him to crush you at your most vulnerable state.
“U-um, I was wondering. Would you be my boyfriend?” your voice came from Jett’s mouth. His quirk mimicked you so perfectly that the memory rattled through you as if you were experiencing it again. “It still gives me the creeps that you would ask me such a disgusting question.” He crumpled the petals of the flower between his fist. “Freak.”
Bakugo shot forward, and actual fear flashed across Jett’s face. A large explosion popped off, forcing you to shield your eyes. When the smoke cleared, Jett was on the ground, shaking. Todoroki had discreetly created a sheet of ice beneath Jett. It had been timed perfectly with Bakugo’s attack, making it nearly unavoidable. The way Jett was sprawled out, he must have slipped on the ice. Bakugo didn’t actually hit him, there were no marks on Jett’s uniform, but the blast was close enough to make Jett react and fall.
“I told you to watch your mouth, Extra. The next explosion will knock your teeth out,” Bakugo growled down at him. “If I catch you talking about Anna like that again, I’ll kill you, got it?”
“For once, I agree with Bakugo. Your words are unfounded. You are the one in the wrong. Should you actively seek to make my classmate uncomfortable again, I will use force as well to put it to an end.”
Jett fumbled to get a foothold, and he barely managed to stand up again. “You’re crazy!” he shouted. He shivered from head to toe. “What kind of hero apprentice tries to kill another student?”
“Want to find out?” Bakugo snapped back, grinning. His red eyes flared open in excitement. His palm splayed open, and a wild display of explosions fizzled and popped within his fingertips.
Jett’s incredulous stare flickered between Bakugo and Todoroki. His hair was a messy tangle of yellow and black. It wasn’t until his gaze fell back onto you that he gained back some of his composure. He ran a hand through his hair, heaving in a heavy breath. He pointed a finger in your direction, and Bakugo faked a jolt forward. Jett flinched, faltering in his next declaration.
“We’ll finish this, another time and another place, but we’ll finish this,” he said, voice trembling. “Your dogs won’t always be around to fight your battles.” He gave a wary look toward your two male classmates, before rushing from the classroom.
“Yeah, you better run, Extra!” Bakugo bellowed after him. He clicked his tongue, relaxing his stance. His muscles barely unclenched though, suggesting he hadn’t fully put his guard down. Bakugo’s crimson gaze flashed back to you. “Are you okay, Anna?”
You shivered, mind tumbling back to the here and now. “I think so,” you said, feeling ashamed of yourself for not reacting.
“You know that boy from your previous school? The one in the United States?” Shoto asked.
You hesitantly nodded.
“Strange, I thought that they vetted transfer students heavily. The other ones I’ve met are more than amicable. This Jett Gibson seems to be carelessly hostile, not in a Bakugo-kind-of-way either,” Shoto said.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean, Half N’ Half?” Bakugo asked.
“You’re hostile in a more tolerable and meticulous kind of way,” Shoto said simply.
“Are you trying to get me to blast you?”
“Not intentionally.”
“Let’s not fight,” you interjected, already struggling to slow down your pounding heart. You pulled yourself and your school stuff together. You winced when you caught the crumpled flower out of your peripherals.
“I’ll walk you back to our next class,” Bakugo said, unflinching. He gripped you by the elbow, guiding you over the destroyed rose.
“I’m coming too,” Shoto declared, following close behind.
Bakugo’s gaze stayed forward, but you felt the small comforting squeeze he gave your arm. “A heads up that your x-psychopath was attending U.A. would have been nice,” he muttered under his breath.
“I would have told you—”
Bakugo gave you a sharp look. His crimson glare was warning enough not to lie to him.
“I… I didn’t know he was here until I ran into him this morning. I really didn’t have time to tell you. I know I need to do better to tell you. Sorry.”
Bakugo clicked his tongue. “I don’t want an apology. I want you to tell me when you’re facing something that I can clearly take care of for you.”
“Something you can take care of? Katsuki, I don’t want you to get in trouble because of me.” Another fight on his record would not bode well for his standing with Mr. Aizawa, let alone his reputation. He could get expelled if he got too violent.
“Let me worry about my own damn decisions. That Extra will get what he deserves one way or another. If I’m the guy who needs to teach him a lesson, then I’d be proud to blast that smug grin off his face.” Bakugo pounded his fist into his open palm, and a small explosion popped off.
“No one is allowed to treat you so horridly, Anna. I will step in as well, should the need arise.” Shoto ran a hand through his silken hair, peering around him.
“The coward probably won’t even approach you after what he went through today. Bet he was just trying to look tough by threatening you when he left.” Bakugo scowled. “I’m not taking any chances.” He reached a hand out, ruffling your hair. “You seem to get into trouble even without losers announcing their dastardly future plans to you.”
“I don’t do it on purpose,” you sputtered, swatting his hand back.
“It does seem like danger is drawn to you,” Shoto admitted. “It’s better to be cautious than regretful, especially after everything you’ve been through.”
“See? Even Icy Hot agrees with me.” Bakugo claps you on your bag.
“That observation doesn’t really help me much though, does it? We’re upcoming heroes. Danger is a part of our daily lives. I can’t expect the two of you to be there for everything. I have to be able to handle these things on my own.”
“Why the hell wouldn’t I be there when you’re in danger, Big Brain?” Bakugo blew angry air from his nostrils.
“I don’t know. You’ll be busy with your own hero work.” You threw your hands up in frustration. Your gaze shifted downward. “I’m sick of feeling powerless, helpless. It doesn’t make sense with this much power at my fingertips.” Your shoulders sank.
Bakugo narrowed his eyes at you. “Power is not the only thing that defines a hero, Anna. You and I both know that.”
“Heroes need help all the time. Why do you need to take on your problems by yourself? Even my father has sidekicks. Do you think he could get that espionage work done without Heart of Hearts? He sticks out like a flame in a pitch-black room.” Shoto rolled his eyes, as if mentioning his father irritated him.
“I guess,” you managed.
Quirk training in the school gym went quickly. Shoto and Bakugo stayed close by just in case you needed them, but Jett didn’t confront you for the rest of the day. The boys walked you back to your room after classes had ended. Bakugo nearly convinced you to let him stay and hang out for a little bit at your dorm, but you insisted that you needed to rest. He begrudgingly left you alone.
You woke up some time early the next morning. Streaks of sunlight poured in from the common room that you were standing in. Your bare feet tingled from the cold. You returned to your room, readying yourself for the day thanks to the key attached to your wrist. You were surprised to hear a knock coming from your dorm room door.
Kirishima grinned brightly at you when you opened the door. He rubbed the back of his neck. “Good morning, Princess,” he said cheerfully.
“Good morning,” you said through a yawn. “Were we supposed to meet this morning?”
“Um… No. Yes? Bakubro asked me to walk you to class. He said that he had some stuff to do with Todoroki? Something about clarifying something with the Endeavor Agency. He, Midoriya, and Todoroki are all in the same work-study agency now. Weird, huh? Well, I guess not too weird. Endeavor is the number one hero now. And, I guess you kind of already knew that. I’ll stop talking.” Kirishima shrugged, tugging at a red-spike atop his head. “Ah, anyway. Bakubro asked, so I came. But, I am more than happy to walk you to class any time. I’m sorry I’m pretty early, but you look like you’re ready to go.” Kirishima offered his hand to you.
You blushed, but you took it. His hand was so large, so rough in yours. You always forgot how tough he was because he was such a sweet guy. His calloused fingers were just an extension of his hard work. He swung your arm with his, a little too excitedly, but it was cute. When you reached the courtyard, Kirishima let go, but he stayed close.
The two of you were pretty early, which you expected from Kirishima. You were surprised he didn’t ask you about an early morning workout too, but he probably thought Bakugo wouldn’t be too happy about the favor he asked being altered. As soon as the two of you walked into the main building, a chill swept up your spine.
It was early for most students to be roaming around the halls. Your eyes trained onto Jett Gibson, chatting it up with Neito Monoma in the middle of the hallway. Your next step faltered, and Kirishima straightened, alert to your sudden change in demeanor. He looked down the hallway at the two boys and then back at you. Kirishima put a hand on your shoulder, and you shrank away from his touch.
“What’s the matter, Princess?” he asked.
You were already backpedaling. Jett’s orange eyes narrowed. His grin widened upon seeing you.
“Shortcake,” Jett called, his hands sliding into his school uniform pockets. “Funny seeing you here without your two mad dogs around.”
Kirishima’s shoulders crowded his ears. He frowned toward the approaching peers. You froze. Something deep within you was captured by Jett’s voice. His vocal tone had shifted to one that thrummed against your skull, low and sultry, making your muscles weak. He must have been using his quirk, or at least a piece of it to keep you from running.
“What’s the matter? You’re not going to run away from me?” Jett teased.
This set off Kirishima. He immediately took a step between you and Jett. “Does she have a reason to run from you?” he asked, part of his body hardened defensively. “I don’t know what’s going on here, but you’re not being very nice to my friend.”
“Class 1-A, always leading with their brawn instead of their brains,” Monoma said, with a flourish of his hand. “Gibson was only talking to his old friend. There’s no need to be so hostile.” Monoma ran a hand through his straight blond hair, chuckling.
Kirishima glanced back at you. “Do you know this guy?”
“Know me? We used to be best classmate pals back in middle school. Go ahead and tell him who I am,” Jett said. His voice, melodically sinister, made your mouth dry.
Kirishima paid him no mind, waiting for your response. A grumble of annoyance tumbled out of Jett’s throat, making you almost want to cover your ears. While Kirishima’s attention focused on you, Jett got closer. You made a small frightened noise, taking a step back. This drove Kirishima to put a larger wedge between you and Jett.
“You’re making her uncomfortable. Step back,” Kirishima warned. His arm was up, holding Jett back, while his other hand was held out toward you to make sure there was enough space.
Kirishima’s chivalrous move left an opening for Monoma to slip by. He reached out to you, and you smacked his hand away with enough force to startle him. Monoma pouted, pulling his hand back toward himself as if he were falsely hurt.
“My, my, you and your class are violent,” Monoma said. “And, here I thought Jett was being a little too harsh when he described the kind of person you were.”
“I just want to be friends again, Shortcake,” Jett said, grinning. He moved forward, and Kirishima scowled back at him.
“Back off,” Kirishima said. The force in his voice astonished you. The full front of his body had hardened, keeping Jett at bay. This defensive move had Jett reeling back, but Kirishima still hadn’t used much force.
Monoma reached out to Kirishima, possibly to copy his quirk, but Kirishima was faster, shifting back and placing a hand on you. Kirishima started guiding you back to leave, but Monoma reached his hand out toward you. In a moment of realization, you stopped, feeling the familiar tug of your quirk brush your senses, but it wasn’t you using it. Instead of retreating, you ran toward Monoma in worry. His smirk faltered, and his hands covered his head. An agonizing roar filled the air as Monoma fell to the ground.
