Baby Fever
This may or may not be a call out towards myself cause I will swear up and down I don’t want kids then see a baby in public and be like “goo goo gaga”
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that working on slow days is beyond boring. What’s even worse is when the only people that come in on slow days are shitty customers.
“The manners of today’s working class have depleted in ways I cannot fathom!” Hiro came bursting into the back of the café restaurant with a look of disbelief on his face.
Without looking up from his phone, Tadashi answered “Wow those are some big words, little brother, I’m impressed.”
“Shut up!”
You laughed while sitting on the wooden countertop, arms hugging your boyfriend’s back. “What happened?”
Hiro plopped down on the stool in front of the sink and started to rant. “This woman comes in here and she bought a mocha latté and then complained about it being six dollars. Like I’m the one who makes the fricken prices! Surprise, surprise she didn’t have enough. So what did she do? SHE REACHED INTO THE TIP JAR AND GRABBED TWO DOLLARS! But then after I took her order and started making her drink, she followed me around the entire time watching me. She pointed at the simple syrup and was like ‘Can you add another pump?’ LIKE UNLESS YOU’RE GOING TO PAY THE EXTRA 25 CENTS NO I CANNOT! And when I finally gave it to her she said I took too long and that the place down the street makes them faster and they taste better. THEN GO THERE AND STOP WRINGING OUT MY PATIENCE!”
By the end of his story, you and Tadashi were losing your minds over how hard you were laughing. Granted, Hiro being upset wasn’t funny but his storytelling abilities were unmatched.
Customers could be very difficult and earlier that day someone had told Tadashi they wanted a manager because they were being pissy about not being able to get a refund on a drink they ordered and drank half of. If it were any other day, he would have just gone to get his Aunt. But Aunt Cass went out for a girl’s day with her friends since all of them happened to be in town and relatively free at the same time. As you get older, hanging out with friends is a privilege.
A couple of dings from the bell on the front counter rang signaling the arrival of a customer. Hiro’s fight of flight sense kicked in and he practically jumped off the floor.
“No, absolutely not.” He shook his head. “I’m not taking them, my workday is over.”
“What?” Your boyfriend looked at his little brother. “It’s been two hours!”
“Yes Tadashi, it has been two hours!” He hissed. “Two hours of my life I will never get back. These people are insane!”
Hiro took off and locked himself in the walk-in pantry. He then proceeded to slam his face into an unopened bag of flour and scream his heart out.
“Oh my gosh, he’s so dramatic.” Tadashi stared at the door of the pantry, listening to his little brother’s muffled cries.
The bell was still ringing outside, the customer was still waiting. You laughed into Tadashi’s back, taking in his smell. Tadashi’s a clean person and not only that, his natural body smell is just pleasant. Just about everything you own smells like him, and you love it.
“Do you want me to get it?” You mumbled against his cardigan.
Your boyfriends turned around to look at you. “What? Why would you do that?”
“Just to help out.” You shrugged.
“Hun, you don’t work here. You really don’t have to.”
You scoffed, “You don’t work here either. Technically.”
“But I live here, so I kinda have to.”
“Tadashi, I practically live here.”
He laughed at that. It was pretty true. The only times you ever really went home were to get things you didn’t have, do your laundry, or if you felt like they were getting sick of you. Plus you never really feel like that anymore because the last time you said you feared Aunt Cass wanted you out of her house she almost started crying. She was afraid she’d done something to make you feel unwelcomed. Besides, you’re her girl in a house full of boys and their bots.
“Are you sure? I can get it, or force Hiro to do it.”
“No, it’s not a big deal.”
He leaned over and pecked you on the lips. “Okay, thank you hunny. I appreciate you so much.”
You walked outside the curtain only to be met with a young couple and their baby. He was holding onto her and trying to rip away a claw clip from her baby grip.
“Yeah, mommy’s clip is pretty.” He said in a small voice. “But we can’t eat it though.”
“What is she doing?” The mom asked looking back at her partner and their baby.
“Trying to eat your clip. I’m telling you she’s going to get sick, last night it was the pen then-”
“Hi there!” You walked towards them smiling. “So sorry about the wait.”
The mom shook her head. “No, it’s fine. We were trying to calm her down anyway.”
“What can I get you guys?”
They went on to order one green apple Italian soda with redbull, an iced hazelnut coffee, and a small warm almond milk with a cake pop. The entire time you were making their drinks, you couldn’t help but notice the babbling of their baby. She was adorable, dressed in a pink sundress and flower-shaped sunglasses. Everything from the sound of the blender to the noise the can of Red Bull made when popped open made her giggle.
During that entire time, you couldn’t help but wonder: What if Tadashi and you had a baby? What would you name them? If it was a boy, then you could name them after him or Hiro. Naomi was a beautiful name for a girl. You could buy them little themed onesies and decorate their rooms. They would say ‘dada’ before ‘mama’ because it’s beyond simple to connect with Tadashi. And they could go to school and crush their science department and say it’s because their dad is a genius.
By the time you snapped back into reality, you’d already made all their drinks and made sure to cool down the small milk for the baby. When you placed everything on the dropoff, the little girl reached her hand down from where she was being held and poked the back of your wrist with her tiny finger.
“Hello there!” You smiled at her. “Aren’t you adorable?”
Your face only made her start to giggle and placed her hand on her chin and flicked it outwards. Thank you in sign language. In return, you placed your hand flat on your chin and pulled it down towards your chest to say ‘You’re welcome’.
“She’s beautiful.” You spoke to her parents. “What’s her name?”
“This is Nyla,” Her mom smiled at her baby. “She just turned ten months, so we’re almost there.”
You gently clapped your hands together, “Oh that’s amazing. Congratulations.”
“What about you?” Nyla’s dad asked.
Her mom joined in on the questioning. “Any little ones?”
You almost choked on your own saliva at their question. I guess to them it didn’t seem too extreme. They barely looked three years older than you.
“No, I don’t. I haven’t been with my current boyfriend long enough for that. And I don’t even know if he wants any.”
Nyla’s mom gave you a sympathetic face. “Well, if you end up wanting any I hope the process is smooth.”
You thanked them and signed “bye” to Nyla. Despite them being gone, the baby fever they’d given you without trying lingered all the way into the night.
——————————————————————————
While you were lying on your boyfriend’s bed scrolling on your phone through countless baby videos and falling down the rabbit hole of how skin-to-skin connection works and how to swaddle them correctly so they don’t scratch themselves when they sleep. As your back was turned you felt a dent in the bed as your boyfriend started kissing your back from your tailbone to your shoulder blades.
“What ya’ lookin’ at hun?” He plopped down next to you and started snaking his arms around your waist.
“Just scrolling,” You kept your answer vague out of fear of freaking him out. “Hey, did you know that if you rub a teething baby’s mouth with warm garlic it will make them feel better than cold cloths?”
Tadashi kissed the side of your jaw, the tingle of his minty toothpaste prickling your skin. “I did not, that’s pretty cool.”
“When you swaddle babies you’re supposed to get them little mittens because they have really sharp fingernails.” You added.
Tadashi’s face contorted with confusion. “Why all this baby talk? What are you watching?”
“Just a bunch of baby videos.”
“Why?”
You sighed and put the phone down to turn your body down and look him in the eyes. “Well, while I was helping those customers earlier. They had such a cute baby and we just talking about having kids and stuff and I think they gave me like- baby fever or something.”
To your surprise, he started to laugh.
“Why are you laughing?” You poked.
“I’m sorry,” He grabbed your wrists. “I didn’t mean to laugh, you just caught me off guard.”
Your heart flipped in your chest out of nervousness. Had you freaked him out? “Is that bad?”
“No, no it’s not.” He assured you. “So, you want a baby?”
You covered your face with your hands and groaned. “I mean, right now yeah but then I think about like the birth process and then I’m like ‘nuh unh.’”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, I think you’d make a fantastic mom.” Tadashi smiled into your neck.
You leaned over and rammed your head into his stomach. “Can we have one?”
The feeling of Tadashi’s stomach fluctuating while he laughed pushed against your head. “Maybe later, hun.”
“So you do want kids?”
He grabbed you by the face and forced you to look back up at him. “Yeah, I’ve told you that before. I’ve said I want a daughter, and I want her to look like you, and I want to decorate her room and throw her birthdays, and go to all her school and sports events.”
“I want her to have your nose.” You admitted.
Tadashi started laughing and shaking his head. “No, no she will get bullied. Trust me I know.”
“No matter son or daughter, they should take Japanese lessons.” You added.
“Yeahhhh,” Tadashi breathed through his teeth. He knew enough Japanese to ask someone for very general directions. But the second a native speaker started talking a little too fast, all his comprehension skills started to deplete.
You could have kids in future years, when you had a shared place and both of you were done with school. Besides, it’s not like anything at all could break the two of you apart.

L.E.S
The amount of writers block go burrrrr
Your very close friendship with Tadashi is not exactly a friendship. Granted you two were friends, obviously but it wasn’t just that. Not exactly with benefits, but there was always something there. And everyone knew it.
Like the time Hiro had caught you doing Tadashi’s makeup in their shared bedrooms bathroom. Now, that alone seems innocent enough but what really started ringing alarms was that he was standing, encasing your lower body with his arms. And you were sat on the cool porcelain countertop with your legs hooked around his hips. Suspicious and very compromising.
Or when Tadashi had snuck you into his personal lab at school because you were bored and he was lonely. You’d brought him food and a fruit punch energy drink to keep him focused and energized. However, Gogo had decided to walk into his lab at the very moment he was sitting in front of his computor coding system with you hunched over behind him, with your arms around his shoulders. Yikes.
You two would constantly say that you weren’t dating, and the response you got every time you said it was “What a load of shit.”
But its not like anyone was crazy shocked at all the time you called each other love or hun, or anything like that. It was a common occurrence and even then they were still waiting for you two to get a grip on reality that traditionally, you don’t call you friends bae while sitting on their laps and playing with their hair.
——————————————————————————-
“How did this even happen?” You aksed while heating up a sharp sewing needle on the stove.
Tadashi had nicked himself in the nail with a drill gun and gave himself a hematoma. AKA: The skin under his nail was bleeding and his nails was causing pressure to build up in his finger. It had doubled in size and his nail was turning an ugly blue-purple-green-ish color. Everything was going smoothly as he worked and you did your own homework when all of a sudden you heard a loud “AH SHIT!” And then saw him crouched over in his chair holding his hand.
Tadashi blew on his finger to aid the stinging, “I was distracted.”
“By?”
“You.” he said in a fake angelic voice, followed by a laugh.
You took the needle off the heat and propped his hand up with a while towel, “Ew, never say that again.”
For the next few minutes, you tapped the searing hot needle into his nail and watched the blood escape through the hole. Tadashi had his head on the table, sucking in air through his teeth at the searing pain. With the occasional kiss on his hand and ‘I know, I’m sorry hunny.’ keeping him from actually crying.
Eventually, you had squeezed out all the blood, put numbing cream on his finger, wrapped it, and iced it. Where was Baymax during all of this? Being a victim of grand theft, stolen by Hiro to do god knows what.
You two sat on the floor with Tadashi’s head on your shoulder and hand in yours.
“You’re such a baby.” You teased.
He brought his good finger up to his lips and shushed you. “Quiet, I’m in pain.”
“Aww, I know I’m sorry my prince. I’ll never call you that again.” You joked, kissing his hand all over.
Soon, those hand kisses turned to arm kisses, and from his arms, you had pecked his neck and jawline a few times. Till he turned to you and looked up with his coffee-brown eyes. It’s not like you two hadn’t ever kissed before, it’s just you were in his living room, on the floor, where just about anyone could walk in.
I hope nobody catch us, But I kinda hope they catch us, anyway.
Regardless, he leaned in and kissed you. With his one remaining hand, he brought you closer to him, your legs straddling his lap and hands flicking through his hair. He’d forgotten about the pain. You made the pain go away.
You pulled away just for a split second and began laughing. His forehead pressed against yours as he kissed the side of your mouth while you laughed.
“Why,” peck “Are,” peck “You,” peck “Laughing!”
He smiled into your neck and let you down onto the floor while one of his arms had trapped you beneath him. He’d stopped kissing you just ot playfully interrogate you.
“Why are you laughing?”
You zipped you lips shut shook your head as the laughs were suppressed by your mouth.
“Huh? Why?” He kissed all over your face, which just made you laugh harder and squeal.
Tadashi did stop after a time and you were left on the floor, looking up at him. He leaned down, nose to nose and breathily said “You’re so beautiful.”
Just like that, you placed your hands on his face and brought you closer to your face. Pressing your lips and against him impatiently. Both of you were an absolute mess and so into it you didn’t eaven hear the backdoor open or the sets of footsteps walking closer and closer to you two. It wasn’t until you’d heard someone clear their throat extremely loudly that you jumped and propped yourself up with your elbows.
“Ah- fuck!” You cursed under your breath at the sight of Hiro, Baymax, and Wasabi.
Hiro looked like he was going to pass out with his face contorting with disgust. Baymax was just…Baymax and Wasabi was blank staring at the two of you, not a single thought behind his eyes.
“W-what’s up?” Tadashi covered his mouth with the back of his hand as if that would do anything.
Wasabi dug through his back pocket and pulled out Tadashi’s school ID that he’d left in the community laboratory. “Y-you forgot this.”
“Oh thanks man, umm you can just put it on the mantle.”
Without another word, Wasabi left and Hiro had to be carried up to their room by Baymax due to his inability to erase the image from his mind.
“Poor Hiro.” You said breathlessly. Still in shock from the events that just happened.
Tadashi shook his head and looked down at you. “Poor Hiro? No, poor us. We didn’t get to finish.”
You playfully slapped his shoulder and stood up from the floor and found it best just to leave and go home. By the time dinner had come around, Aunt Cass couldn’t figure out why neither of her nephews were speaking and why Hiro looked like he’d just seen a ghost. There’s just some things that make you see people in a different light. Watching his older brother chew on a girl he swore wasn’t his girlfriends face was definitely one of those things.
Tadashi didn’t know if Wasabi had told anyone about what he saw because when he gets ready for bed, he doesn’t bring his phone with him and leaves it to charge on his nightstand. But when he got out, he could hear the dinging of all his notifications all the way from the bathroom door. When he flipped his phone over from case up to screen up and was welcomed with 114 messages from his groupchat with his friends and two missed facetime calls from you.
“Oh shit.”

Drop your pin
Chat i MIGHT have cooked with this one
This is bad, this is so bad.
Less than two hours ago you left your house to drive over to a nice restaurant in downtown San Fransokyo and now you were pulled over at a gas station parking lot staring at your dreaded flat tire. If you hadn’t turned off your music to take a phone call from your friend mid-drive you probably would have never heard the dreaded: BANG!
What’s even worse is you were running late for your first formal date with a guy you met at an off-campus study site where you worked as a barista. He looked so cute in his little academic grind, so focused you thought his eyebrows were stuck in a permanent scowl. Thankfully, said the boy was studying so hard that he refilled his caffeinated iced tea almost four times and he came up to you. He started the conversation by rubbing his beautiful brown eyes tiredly saying “I am really tired, but I’m trying to stay away from coffee for a little bit.”
And somehow, his voice made him almost ten times more attractive than you originally thought him to be. By the time you finished pouring his tea, he’d complimented everything about you. From the hairstyle, you had dawned that day to how well you did your job. He was perfect and you were so excited for this date.
Until the universe had just to come and ruin it.
Canceling is one thing, but canceling because your tire popped is another. Everyone knows that whenever someone cancels last minute because they’re having ‘car troubles’ actually means ‘I wanted you to get lost from day one and now I have a reason not to see you.’ That and the lame excuse of ‘Oh I’m just really busy this week.’
This is why you can’t help but feel a sense of dread boiling in your stomach while you hear your phone ring and ring, waiting for him to answer. You like this boy, honest. But after this, he may not be so sure.
You swear you can feel your heart drop to the pits of your stomach when you first hear his voice.
“Hi, I’m not there yet. I just turned onto the 5 and-oh shit! Are you already there? I’m so sorry.”
You would laugh if you didn’t feel like crying. “Umm no, I’m not. Tadashi I have some bad news.”
“Uh-oh, what’s up?”
You took a deep breath. “Okay umm, so when I turned onto the highway my right tire popped and now I’m outside this sketchy-looking gas station trying to figure out what to do.”
Silence. All you could hear on his end of the call was the zooming of other cars next to his.
“Tadashi?” You confirmed. “Are you still there? Look I know it sounds like such a lie and I’m sorry. I really was looking forward to going out with you and I feel so bad about-”
“Drop me the pin.” The sound of his voice forced you to have such a visceral and public reaction.
Drop the pin? Like-to him? Why?
“L-Like,” You stuttered. “My pin? Right now?”
“Yeah, your pin.”
So you did. You sent him your GPS pin and waited for a little less than ten minutes. What did he want with your location? Maybe he just wanted to make sure you weren’t lying to him about being at the gas station. He could just never show up. After about seven minutes had passed, a rusty old work truck drove off the exit and into the gas station parking lot. Flashing bright yellow headlights. The truck pulled up almost directly in front of you and for a moment you felt fear. A stranger just coming up to you in a car in a sketchy area while you have no other way of escaping. But that fear dripped away when you saw it was Tadashi who was driving.
“Oh my gosh, hi.” You stared at him, slightly confused but extremely relieved.
He opened the door and walked towards you. “Hey, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, but my tire isn’t and I really don’t want to have to pay to get a new one.” You groaned at the thought of dealing with car troubles.
Tadashi squated down with a grunt at your popped tire. “Do you know how to change one of these?”
“Erm, kind of.” You answered honestly. “I don’t know it well enough to try it. I’m too scared to try it on my actual tire.”
He hummed before asking you to pop open your trunk so he could reach in and get your spare. And for the next twenty-two minutes, you watched your date grunt, sigh, groan, and flex all the muscles he had lifting and changing your popped tire. You learned two things in those thirty minutes.
1)That your date is one hell of a handyman and 2) That your date is not only cute but damn is he hot.
When he finished, he stood back up stretching out his limbs and cracking his neck.
“Now, you can’t really drive on a spare for too long so we’ll just go back and change it.” He said as if it were the most nonchalant thing in the world and not an act of pure chivalry.
You, who was almost starstruck at this man practically launched yourself and him in the biggest hug you’ve ever given someone.
You gushed, “Oh! Thank you so much. You’re so sweet!”
Thankfully, he hugged you back. Arms fully wrapped around you and jaw rested on the top of your head. When the two of you let go, he took your phone and put an address in it. One you had never even heard of. A place called the Lucky Cat Café and when you asked all he said was “We’re going there to change your tire.”
So the two of you got back onto the highway and drove backwards from your original date spot. For most of the drive you tried to keep the back of his car in your sights even though you had the GPS on. By the time you’d arrived, the street that the Lucky Cat was located on was practically empty. Everyone and all businesses seemed to be asleep for the night, which is why you both had decided on a place in Downtown San Fransokyo where the city rarely sleeps.
You shut your car door behind you. “What is this place?”
“It’s my aunt’s café, we live on the top. You see?” He pointed at a window in the top of the building with a glowing light through it like someone was home. “So my garage is on the side over there, do you want to just park there and I’ll change your tire.”
Wait he was serious. Like he was full-on going to change your spare tire.
“Seriously?” You double-checked.
Tadashi smiled followed by a light and airy laugh. “Yeah, I’m serious.”
So you drove past the main building and into the rather large alleyway where his garage was. From where you were you could see the garage door that was painted on the sides with traditional Japanese art.
“Did you paint that?” You pointed at the door.
Tadashi fumbled around in his pocket for the garage door key. “Me and my brother worked on it when we were in middle school.”
“So you guys are close?”
Guys that love their families are mad hot.
The door slowly propped open. “Extremely close and- oh. Speak of the devil.”
Sitting inside the garage was a boy who couldn’t have been any older then fifteen on the couch resting flat on his back. Scrolling on his phone and eating a green melon popsicle in white calf socks.
He lifted his head to see the two of you standing in the frame of the garage, large brown eyes that resembled Tadashi’s staring like a deer in headlights.
“Oh shit,” He grunted. “What’s up?”
Tadashi alternated his hand between the two of you. “Hiro this is y/n, y/n this is my little brother Hiro.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Hiro.” You smiled. Tadashi had mentioned him a few times and you’d heard him in the background of some of the FaceTime and regular phone calls you had with Tadashi.
Before he could respond, your date looked around his garage with a look of confusion on his face. “Dude, where are the tires?”
“Behind the dumpster.” Hiro said like it was obvious.
Tadashi rolled his eyes. “The unused ones, dumbass.”
“Oh, side shed.”
Your date excused himself and pulled out his phones flashlight to navigate his way through the dark of the night to his familys storage shed. Leaving you alone with his younger brother who had since put his phone down.
“You’re y/n?”
“Yep.” You popped the ‘p’ rocking back and forth on your feet.
Hiro’s face filled with a sudden smugness. “You know he’s like super into you, right?”
You tried to fight the obvious smile that wanted to come to your face. “Really?”
“Before he left he called all of his friends to make sure he looked good enough to leave the house.” He scoffed at the memory.
Just then, Tadashi came back rolling a brand new tire for your car. He told Hiro to scram before setting it down and grabbing his own tools. The garage itself was crazy, filled with tools, walls of water stained blueprints, chalk drawings, and premade machinery including a 3D printer and two different computers.
While changing your new tire, you took the time to really apologize for the messed up ‘date’ you were having.
“I’m so sorry about this, this is not what I planned at all.” Your voice laced with sincerity.
Tadashi’s face fell into one of fake disbelief as he joked, “You mean you didn’t intentionally pop your own tire so I would come and get you and we had to change it instead of going out to the restaurant we’re both appropriately dressed for?”
You laughed and gently punched him in the arm. “Don’t be an ass.”
“I know, I’m just joking.” He reassured you. “You look really beautiful though, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that before.”
“Aww, thank you. You look half decent as well.”
The two of you laughed as he continued to change your tire. There was a point where the new one he brought out for you had weighed so much he had to take off his dress jacket and lift it up like a deadlift. At his obvious struggle you offered to help but it was pointless.
“No it’s okay I got it.”
“Really?” You asked. “I can help you out. Plus it would teach me for the future.”
“Well when you’re with me, you won’t ever have to change your own tire.” Just as he said it, he regretted it. The two of you hadn’t even really been on a first date, just a few flirty texts and calls. That’s it.
He covered his mouth. “Oh-that’s not- I’m sorry. I didn’t mean-”
To his relief and surprise you laughed in the most adorable way he’d ever heard someone laugh. “It’s okay, that was cute. Really cute.”
“Oh thank god.” He breathed out.
After a couple more flirty conversations and remarks, he’d finally finished installing your new tire and placed the spare back in your car.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.” You cooed and kissed him on the cheek.
A warm blush expanded across his face after the kiss your given him as he dizzely responded, “No problem.”
You had your arms hooked around his neck as you both just stared at each other. Tadashi looked down at his watched and hummed.
“You know, they’re still open.” He referred to the restaurant from your original plan.
To say you were shocked would be an understatement. He did all of that for you, and he still wanted to go out?
“Y-you,” You began to stutter in disbelief. “You still want to go out with me.”
“If anything I want to go out with you even more now.” He whispered so low only you could hear. “Do you want to go out with me?”
“Yes.” You whispered back, falling into his dark brown eyes.
He smiled, face getting closer and closer to yours. “Yeah?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah?”
“Ye-”
Kissing before the first date even starts is unheard of for you. It’s not something you would ever do…normally. But to be fair nothing about that first date was normal. You ran you hands up his jet black hair, lightly pulling at the strands while his hands held yourl ower back. How could making out with someone you hadn’t even gone on a proper date with in the middle of his garage with the door wide open feel so incredibly intimate?
When you two had pulled away all you could do was laugh. What was so funny? You don’t actually know, but something about it had made to so giggly. Face pressed into his chest, laughing.
You two had decided that it seemed like a better idea for Tadashi to drive to two of you downtown and when you opened the passenger seat door there was a large bouquet of pink tulips and daisy fillers on the seat with a calligraphy card with your name on it wrapped in brown paper. You covered your smile with your mouth as you picked up the bouquet.
“I was going to give those to you when we got there.” Tadashi said shyly, embarrassed that he missed the opportunity to give them to you when he pulled up to the gas station parking lot.
All you did was stare at him, endearence in your eyes before kissing that boy straight on the lips another time.

This may or may not be my personal love for aquiline noses and the fact I love that they chose to give Tadashi a more noticeable nose shape. 🤍
You and Tadashi we just having a well-deserved quiet night in. Finals were over and winter break had started. The seaters came out, and the books went away for four weeks. A little upsetting that San Fransokyo was not the place to go if you wanted to experience snow, all they got was rain and on occasion: hail. But the overly cold chill in the air and the light sprinkle of icey waters falling from the grey skies justified the cuddling. You were on your stomach, one leg was tossed over Tadashi’s torso with your face smushed against his chest. His laptop was resting on his nightstand, playing some crappy Christmas hallmark movie about the cliche big-city girl and flannel-wearing, small-town boy. There were so many of those with covers that looked nearly identical that neither of you could name the movie without looking at the title.
“Do you think there are really people like that?” You asked, your voice slightly mushed.
With a decent amount of vocal fry your boyfriend answered, “Like what?”
“People that would just straight up dip from their high-paying jobs and comfy lives just because they met someone.”
Shrugging as much as he could. “I’m sure of it. Plus it’s kind of romantic. No?”
“Pfft,” You scoffed. “I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that counts as some form of self-sabotage.”
“What?” Tadashi smiled down at your head. “You wouldn’t quit a job or leave your city for me?”
“No way would you let me.”
That made them both laugh because it was true. Tadashi wanted nothing but the best for you, and leaving everything or any opportunity at all would cause a riff between you. He didn’t like the idea of being the guy that might have indirectly guilt-tripped you into not living to your full potential. Nor did he like the idea of you being miserable because you stayed or left. He is the embodiment of the scene where Jess from Gilmore Girls gets angry at Rory for dropping out of Yale.
“Why? Would you just give up everything just for me?” She raised her eyebrows up at him.
He had to think about that for a moment. Part of the reason you loved him so much was because of his dedication to the people he loved. It was his core moral that he’d carried with him for years on end. “Maybe not everything, but I’d compromise.”
It was almost hypocritical. Just the thought of you quitting or missing out on anything because of him made him want to punch a hole in the wall. Yet when it came to you or anyone else he held in high regard he made so much of an effort to make everyone happy. That’s true love by the way. Watching the happiness of someone you love and finding joy in it despite you maybe not being in the picture.
“That’s not fair.” You groaned into his chest.
The ringing and movement of his chest fluttered against the side of your head. “It is to me.”
“You suck.”
“You suck.”
“You both suck!” Hiro came crashing into the room. The dark circles under his eyes looked more like shopping bags and his skin had grown dry and cracked. He’d just finished taking a three-hour final with a written portion, a matching portion, and in an in-person experiment with stations.
“Hey dude,” Tadashi smiled at his older brother. “How’d it go?”
Instead of answering, Hiro just collapsed onto the floor and for a while, you thought he might have stopped breathing. That fear was soothed by the loud snores of a young teen boy who hadn’t gotten any proper sleep for almost two weeks straight.
“He might drop out after this.” You laughed.
Tadashi’s eyes sprung open like they were going to pop out of his head, “I don’t think so. After all, I did to get him in. No way, I’ll shoot him before he does.”
“Aww, but he’s so tired. “You fake pitied and pouted.
“He has three weeks to rest, he’ll be fine.”
For the next few minutes, the two of you went back to enjoying the heat of the other’s bodies, finding calm in the breathing noises between you two, and after a while, you’d start to tune the movie out. It’s not like it was that interesting anyway. The very generic-looking couple were having some kind of fight about her using him for some big corporation story. Didn’t make much sense and wasn’t that compelling in any way.
Out of boredom, you started drawing invisible shapes into your boyfriends skin with your fingers when you got to his neck and hear his jaw and face. Tadashi’s side profile is so beautiful, especially his nose. Tadashi had a very elegant aquiline nose, with the perfect nose bridge. It fit his face like no other.
You brought your finger up to his face and started grazing the top of his nose bridge, tracing the lines of his face. He’s ethereal.
“What are you doing, hon?” Tadashi pressed his face down and glared down trying to see his own nose.
“I’m admiring your nose.” You admitted, fully focused on the center of his face.
“I can see-er I can feel that. Why?”
You shrugged, “I don’t know. It’s just so pretty.”
“You think my nose is pretty?” He chuckled.
“Mhmm,” You hummed. “Like it suits you so well. Your nose makes you look so elegant. Like Emma D’Arcy.”
Tadashi grabbed your hand gently and pulled it away from his face. Instead, he brought your hand to his lips and started pecking kisses all over your palm, wrist, and parts of your forearms. “Thank you hun, I’m glad you find my nose so elegant.”
“You’re welcome, beautiful boy.” You craned your body forward to peck him on the lips.
Tadashi smiled down at you, “I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.”

Continuing with the “Young parent reader and Tadashi”. Imagine: visiting him with Bodie while he’s working in his lab.
“Come on, Bodie.” You chirped taking her out from her car seat. “Let’s go see daddy.
“Daaa-“ her voice died off. You two walked up the steps to the IT lab to visit your boyfriend. Bodie had gotten restless ever since she started moving around and standing on her own. For the past few weeks, when Tadashi would’ve leave for school in the morning she’s poke her head through the window and watch him leave. Her little nose sniffling and eyes red with sadness. It was weird for her that she wasn’t around all the time since summer vacation ended.
You walked into the chilly building and tried to remember the way to Tadashi’s lab. Through all the twists and turns it took as while before you finally recognized the corridor where his personal lab resided.
“O-okay.” You grunted, shifting Bodies little body to one arm to you could knock with a free hand before opening the door.
Tadashi was sat on the floor, paper sheets full of math equations sprawled around him, and a toolbox spilling with misplaced tools next to him.
He turned around at the noise and looked back at your and your daughter. “Oh, hey.”
“Daaa!” Bodie squealed from your arms and started flaring to reach him.
You leaned down and began to transition Bodie to her dads arms. Tadashi kissed your cheek and then the top of Bodie’s head. “How are my girls doing?”
“Well, she was pretty good today. Had a little bit of a battle getting her dressed.” You recall trying to fight her kicking legs to get her pink polka dot leggings.
Tadashi gasped and looked down at her. “What! Bodie, you’re giving mommy a hard time?”
She simply giggled and went back to playing with the random objects placed on the floor. Tadashi then looked back up and you. “And what about you, how was your day?”
“Fine,” you shrugged. “Got a lot of work done and finished shopping for tonight. I think we’re good for the rest of the week. What about you?”
He bounced her in his lap while rubbing her little body with his thumbs. “Umm- just been sitting here. I haven’t eaten though and I’m kinda hungry. Wanna go out?”
“Yeah we can go out.” You played with your boyfriends hair and kissed the back of his neck.
You rested your head on her shoulder and looked down at your baby girl. Who was busy trying to bite on a big metal screw.
Tadashi laughed and poked her in the cheek. “Oh you’re hungry? Yeah?” He then took on the challenge of yanking the screw out of her death baby grip. “We can’t eat this though, sorry.”
Bodie’s lip quivered at her dad taking away her new favorite rusty toy. Her brown eyes glistening with tears.
“Oh my god,” You rolled your eyes. “What a drama Queen.”
Tadashi smiled. “I know, right? Just like her mama.”
You slapped him in the shoulder loud enough to make a noise and Bodie giggled clapping her chubby hands together. Like her dad getting hurt was the funniest thing in the world.

I can imagine your baby being born with a higher IQ, so they pick up on things faster Graham most kids. As a pet name, you Tadashi call you ‘baby’ or ‘hunny’ sometimes and they pick up on it
“What is she doing right now?” You asked, heart slightly picking up the pace at the silence. When Bodie was a baby, all you wanted was for her to stop crying and be quiet every once in a while. Now that she’s older, silence is what worries you the most. That and finding a loose marker cap, with the marker itself nowhere to be found.
Tadashi took off his reading glasses and looked over at you from his laptop. “She’s playing, she said she wanted to do a puzzle today.”
“Well it’s almost 12, can you ask her if she wants her snack now?” You peeled apart the slices of clementines. “Cause’ she’s been doing that puzzle for like 20 minutes, I don’t want her to be waiting on us.”
Your baby daddy grunted, standing from the position he’d been sitting at for nearly two hours. “Yeah, I got it.”
“Thank you baby.” You called out.
Now technically, you aren’t married. But if your name pops up in conversation with people that don’t know you, Tadashi will refer to you as “my wife”. He hates the term girlfriend because he thinks your so much more, and he despises the term baby mama because to him that’s like calling you a baby machine. But you two had agreed you’re too young to actually get married. Maybe after you guys graduate and get jobs.
Down the hall behind the door with Bodies name plastered on it with fake wooden butterfly’s attached to it, was your baby girl trying her best to figure out a 15 piece puzzle.
Tadashi knocked before barging in.
“Bodie,” he cooed at the little girl, lying stomach down on the floor and kicking her tiny feet. “Hi hunny.”
Without looking up she squeaked, “Hi!”
“Do you want your snack right now? Or are you not hungry and you’ll eat it in 10 minutes?” You two had made sure that giving her a choice in certain things was vital. Obviously, things like bed time and screen time was non negotiable but when it came to when she got to eat a snack that was all up to her.
“Ummm,” She forced her little toddler arms to push herself right side up and look Tadashi in the eye. “Right now, please.”
“Now? Okay, let’s go.” He walked over to her and scooped her up off the floor. You’d said countless times that he needed to stop carrying her and she needed to walk on her own. He knew you were right, but she had little legs. What if they got tired?
When he walked back to the small kitchen/living room you weren’t there. But the sound of the fan whirling from the bathroom door was a giveaway. Luckily, you’d already placed all the snacks on a small plastic pink compartment tray.
He plopped her down in her chair and slid the tray with clementines, green grapes, and goldfish crackers on it towards her little body.
“Thank you baby!” She smiled at him.
Tadashi froze in his tracks. “What did you say, Bodie?”
Confused, she blinked at him with her giant chocolate brown eyes she got from him and repeated, “Thank you baby.”
He put his hands on his hips and stared at her. “Are you being funny? I’m not baby, I’m daddy. You’re baby.”
Bodie looked at him and gave him the most adorable toddler laugh. “Nooooo. You’re baby.”
“Why do you think I’m baby?” He’d always referred to her as ‘baby’. Maybe that’s where she learned it from.
“Mommy sayses you’re baby, so I call you baby.”
OHHHHHHHH. There was rarely a time where you called Tadashi by his actual name, and it was usually when you were mad or annoyed with him. Your default name: baby.
Just then, the door to the bathroom opened and you walked out to see the scene between the two. It gave you yet another opportunity to see how similar they looked. It wasn’t fair! You held her for 9 months, nursed her and everything. And when she came out, she looked exactly like him.
Tadashi looked at you. “Tell mommy what you told me.”
“What?” Confusion and concern lacing your tone. “Tell mommy what?”
Bodie stuffed a goldfish cracker in her mouth before answering. “You calls daddy baby, so I calls daddy baby.” She said it like it was the simplest thing in the world.
You walked over to Tadashi with you jaw hung low and slammed your head into his chest. She was so fucking adorable.
“Oh my god.” You whispered in disbelief.
“I know.”
Bodie sensed something wasn’t right while she ate.
“Wrong?” She asked.
A few months ago, you and Tadashi had learned that was her way of asking ‘is something wrong?’ Through trial and error.
You two let go of each other and Tadashi immediately scooped her up out of her chair and started kissing her hair and smelling her cheek.
“No baby, nothings wrong.” He assured her. “You’re just the cutest baby in the whole wide world!”
Bodie let out the funniest baby laugh before kicking her feet and squealing at him pressing kisses all over he head.

“Talk about what?”
Hey pooks, let’s play a game called: How many euphoria references can you find in the fic?
“Ow, it’s in my eye!” Hiro’s eye began watering at the foreign feeling of the thin eye makeup brush.
You kissed your teeth and rolled your eyes playfully, “It’s not in your eye, you’re just not used to it. Calm down you big baby, your tears are making all my hard work run down your face.” You gently tapped a piece of tissue under his eye.
Lately, you’d breally been into gem eye makeup and sharpe eye wings. And for the sake of you being friends Hiro decided to let you practice a look you’d been wanting to do. You would’ve done it on your own face but you’d been doing your makeup all week and your skin needed a break.
Based on his face, you chose to give him black racoon eyes along with the eyelinder wing. Then adding tiny eye gems along the bottom of his eyes. An amazing look, but the process was being delayed way more than it should have been because somebody couldn’t get it together.
You put down the brush and picked up your black liquid liner in it’s place to make the inner eye triangles. “Okay, do not move whatsoever.”
“I’ll try.” Hiro responded quietly, while looking up at the ceiling.
The beginning sound of Gone Girl harmonizing melody played alongside the buzzing of the bathroom fan was the only noise being made between the two of you. You could tell Hiro was struggling to not let the smooth bristles of the eyeliner bother him.
During this whole process, he was having a really difficult time not looking at you. You’d met Hiro when he was in high school. Your mom had business with the school and she brought you along. It was only the second month of high school for him- who was nine at the time, and seeing you was the first time he every felt interested in anything in high school. When he learned you were not a student and just the child of someone who worked with them, your mom had set up a playdate with his aunt. Because that’s what nine year olds do, they have playdates.
And you’d been side by side for a good chunk of your lives, but when Hiro had finally told you he was going to college in the city, you’d assumed it meant that you would stop spending so much time together. But, on your first day of school you had a shitty time because highschool sucks but when you walked out after the day was over and saw him waiting with a shark ballon and snacks, the day had started looking up.
You’re Hiro’s first love, at least he likes to think of it that way. Honestly, he doesn’t really know what consistiutes love and if he told anyone he thought that they’d tell him he was too young to know. How could he be too young? It’s not like he hasn’t loved people before. But they would never say that if he said he loved you because you were his best friend.
You’re Hiro’s first love, but he never told you that.
After finally placing the final gems lining the bottom of his eyes, you leaned back and looked at your work with pride. Hiro turned and looked at himself in the mirror with black eyeliner and smokey eye makeup with sparkling gem stones stuck on his face with eyelash glue.
“I feel stupid!” He laughed out loud.
“Everyone feels stupid, who gives a shit.” You placed your head on his shoulder.
Hiro tried desperately to ignore the swarming butterflies in his stomach at the feeling of your body pressed against his.
While cleaning up all the mess you two had made, he found it very hard to stop looking at you. Even though he was the one with a attentive and eye catching makeup, somehow you were still his focal point. He hadn’t looked in the mirror to see his own face as nearly as many times as would be expected.
“Oh wait!” Yout zipped up your makeup bag. “I have to take a picture!”
“What! What do you need a picture for?” Hiro groaned.
“Reference, duh.” You said it like it was the obvious thing in the world and pulled your phone out.
You had Hiro sit on the floor, with the flash on to make sure that the gems really shined while you took the picture. After you took a few (hundred) you stared at them while sitting across from him on the floor.
“Hm,” You hummed.
“What?”
“I like what I did, but I think I accidentally fucked with your gender expression.”
You two burst out laughing at the comment. But after all of that, you moved from your spot and sat next to Hiro on the floor. Where you then dropped your body weight into his lap.
“Thank you,” You looked up at him.
“For what?”
“Letting me do your makeup.”
“Oh,” He scoffed. “Totally, you can do it anytime.”
Then you two just hund out there on the floor, SZA on repeat and the buzzing taking over the atmosphere around you. Somehow, Hiro’s hand found yours and now you were just pushing and pulling your arms simultaneously up and down.
“You know, you can be so charming when you’re not frustrated or hungry.” You looked up at him.
Hiro placed his free hand on his heart, “Aww, thank you. I’m charming as shti.”
“Oh wait, your gem’s falling.”
You sprung up from his lap and tried to gently stick it back to his skin using your pinkie finger. Once you’d accomplished that, Hiro’s eyes would not avert from you. It was like his brain was at odds with each other because the left side wanted to save his dignity and friendship, and the right was doing what ever it wanted. So now you two were just staring at each other face to face, nobody said a word until:
“You’re the first guy who ever let me do this to them.” You whispered with a smile.
And he will never know what force of magic compelled him to do it: he leaned forward and stole a small kiss from you. Totally taken back, your eyes widened and you sort of leaned back. Just as he did it, Hiro could feel all the color in his face drain and all the butterflies had morphed into moths that ate his insides.
“Shit,” he whispered. “Shit, shit, shit- I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean- well- I’m sorry. I-I should go, right?”
He was a babbling, stuttering mess. You, still semi- in shock were trying to make sense of out what just happened.
“I’m gonna go.” He spit out and raced out of your bathroom, down the stairs and out of your house. (After saying bye to your mom of course.)
“Y/n!” You heard your mom call out .
Still in a daze, you walked over to the top of the staircase adn wondered if maybe you were dissasociating. Had that all happened it your head? It all happened pretty fast so maybe…wait was Hiro even here?
“What was that?” She asked. “Hiro just said bye and left. What happened?”
“I-,” You opened your mouth and waited for the sentence to form. “I think he kissed me.”
“Oh..” She put her head down and went back to staying out her teenage kids business.
But the part that didn’t come out of your mouth was: I think I wanted him to.
Just then in an moment of irrational behavior, you slipped on some slides and ran outside the house. (After tell your mom you’d be back.) Hiro had walked to your house so he couldn’t have gotten very far. You found him taking the long way back to his house by walking through some backallery where apartment buildings put their dumpsters.
“Hiro!”
Oh fuck what now? As if the day couldn’t kick his ass even more. Were you there to tell him off about how you can’t just spring that on people, or how you now saw him as a creep? Either way, by the end of the conversation you had chased him down to have your friendship would never be the same. Assuming you stayed friends.
Much to his surprise when you got to him, you straight up hugged him. Like a huge, tight, warm hug. The kinda hug you give people when they go away to college or when the come back. He didn’t know what to do with that.
“Uhm,” He’d started to wonder if maybe the alley was a welcome in the twilight zone. “S-so, are we gonna pretend that what I did wasn’t super weird?”
To try and make him feel better you said, “It wasn’t weird-”
“No, it was.” He cut you off. Your attempt failed. “It’s okay you can say it. But maybe, we don’t have to talk about it?”
Hiro may have liked you, but no feelings were ever worth loosing you as a friend. In his world you were th eonly thing that he could have. Tadashi had friends his age who did things people their age do. He had you, and he didn’t want to loose you. Maybe by not talking about it, you could pretend it never happened and things would stya the same.
You smiled and pulled away from the hug. Looking up at his black racoon eyes were the left one was missing a gem and the eyeshadow was smeared.
“Talk about what?” You played.
Hiro breathed out a sigh of relief with a smile. “So, you’re not mad at me?”
With the same spurr of irrational thought you used when you left your house, you propped yourself up on your tip toes, leaned forwards and gave him a proper kiss. Not a quick peck, but a kiss.
He honestly thought he was going to pass out. All thd wind had been knocked from his lungs and he was sue the buildings around him looked like they were melting. You gently brought your fingertips to your own lips and smiled.
“Why would I be mad?”

Anon because I feel like I’m about to say smth cringe lol but how about a fic with a (possibly Psych major) reader that’s got a holistic view of the world with Tadashi? Would be interesting to see what that information brings concerning Baymax’s plan of care and how a relationship would form with Tadashi like dat ya dig
Idk mostly inspired by Natalia Lafourcade’s song María La Curandera (it’s in Spanish, you’ll have to search up the translation if you’re curious!) also growing up in an immigrant household with care alternatives to things maybe a doctor would not take seriously/ not being able to connect with a patient due to beliefs and or language barriers.
Tumblr media
Can I just you’re actually so real for this. This is NOT cringe pookie okay. First of all, love my psych classes but also second of all my family is so holistic. We’re from the Philippines and the hospital is reserved special for if you’re dying. (Btw that’s bad, go to the doctors please)
You don’t fight with your boyfriend…like ever. You don’t like fighting and he thinks fighting i childish. But that’s not to say you two agree on everything. Exhibit A:
“At least with my remedies I know I won’t be overdosing on cough syrup.”
“Baby, with all due respect I’m not using herbs to get rid of a respiratory infection.”
Another thing, you love Baymax. You really do. You were there to help build him, he knows you personally but he has nothing to do with your health. And that irritated Tadashi to no end. Flu season had come around and it seemed like everyone was getting sick. Including you. The basic fever, cough, headaches, and disgusting amounts of phlegm hacking out of your throat. Yet, you denied any help from your boyfriend’s healthcare robot.
It made him upset because you could get better so much faster if you let him use his extensive medical knowledge on you, and yet you still said no. But nothing about your ideologies had created such tension until recently. When he caught you doing something he deemed unfathomable.
Almost a week into you being sick, he’d seen you chopping onions late into the night after making his lemon tea.
“What are you doing?” Tadashi looked over at you after coughing up a chunk of bloody phlegm from his own throat.
You sniffed, clearly congested. “Cutting onions.”
“For what?”
“My socks.”
“I’m sorry?”
Surely he must have misheard you. You and him had been together for years and he knew all about your home remedies. There was a stained food processor in your house from when he had joint pain in his wrist and you had him eat turmeric paste. When Hiro had unknowingly given him stomach flu you went out and bought efficascent oil and rubbed it on his stomach. He’s seen you gargle salt water, chew on peppermint, put baking soda on bee stings, eat raw garlic, and drink cranberry juice for your menstrual problems but that one took the cake.
“Do you want some?” You’d asked it so innocently but your tone could have changed if you’d seen the look of utter disbelief on his face.
The both of you had been sick for a week in an endless cycle of eating strawberries, and oranges, taking magnesium, and eating spoonfuls of grainy raw honey. All of that to him seemed fine. Even he understood to a certain extent you couldn’t just take medicine all the time. But when he offered to buy cough syrup, ibuprofen for throat pain, Tylenol for cough headaches, and other flu medications you shut it down. He was free to take all of those things to make himself feel better and he swore it did.
But you were in so much pain and it seemed like whatever you were doing wasn’t helping. Just that morning, Tadashi rubbed your back while you had a 10-minute coughing fit that was so bad there were streaks of blood in your spit. You’d cried when a pounding headache hadn’t left and he felt so helpless knowing there was nothing he could do about it.
Tadashi stuttered. “W-Why are we cutting onions for our socks?”
“You put them in your socks and then you sleep with them on, my mom swears by it. But if you have like sensory problems that’s okay, you don’t have to.”
“Baby don’t you think- maybe you should just take something for it?”
You scoffed because you already knew where this was going. “You’re not funny.”
“I’m not trying to be funny. It’s just you’re so sick.” His voice dripped with concern.
Just as he’d said it you dug your face into your elbow and started coughing. The loud, raspy, crunchy kind of cough. Almost like the universe was on his side. Then came the cough headaches. The one thing you had allowed Baymax to scan you for and nothing else. A build-up of pressure from consistent coughing and sneezing in your head could cause pounding headaches.
The second he saw the grimace on your face, Tadashi jumped up from his study table and ran over to you. Pulling you in for a hug and gently pushing his fingers through your head. But that was also the time he decided he couldn’t take this anymore. His girl was in pain and crying over a sickness he could use his brain and his bot to figure out how to cure.
“I can’t take this anymore.” He confessed still holding you. “Please, will you let me give you a Tylenol?”
“T, no.”
“Why not? It’s so obvious you’re hurting. I know you don’t like taking medicine. I get that, but you just aren’t getting any better.”
You gently lifted your head off Tadashi’s chest and looked up at him. “So are you and you’ve been taking medicine.”
“But I feel like I’m getting better.”
“Hunny, you threw up an hour ago.” You deadpanned.
He racked his brain for a positive way to spin the horrible retching experience. “O-okay but that’s-um, that’s the body’s way of making itself feel better.”
You two were going in circles. But Tadashi was not backing down. He was adamant that you get better if it was the last thing he did and you knew it. Last year Hiro got sick with a particularly horrible kidney infection. So bad that when he’d tried to walk to the restroom he collapsed on the floor physically unable to move. After that none of your friends ever really saw Tadashi for almost two weeks. Right after school, he’d sprint home just to take care of him. That was his thing. Your boyfriend lived to take care of people.
Some people in the world don’t care about anything you’ve ever done and something you will do. Like doctors. Doctors don’t need to know how good or bad of a person your friends think you are in order to take care of you. Finding people like that is rare. Tadashi is one of those people.
And you, one of the people he loved and cared for most in the entire world wouldn’t let his extensive knowledge on healthcare help you feel better. And no matter how many times you reassured him, he couldn’t help but feel like you being sick was his fault.
“How about this,” He suggested, moving his hand from your head to your face. “I will do your onion-sock thing if you let me give you cough syrup. Just one spoonful and then we’ll drop it. Sound fair?”
A small smile tugged at the corners of your lips as you slowly nodded your head. Out of relief, you were going to let him do something about how you felt, Tadashi leaned down and kissed you right then and there. It was extremely counterproductive and he couldn’t have cared less.
That night, you let your boyfriend spoon artificial cherry-flavored Robitussin into your mouth. And he let you put loosely chopped pieces of white onion in his socks while he slept. For the record, neither of your immune systems ever really recovered in that one night. And yet-somehow, you woke up feeling the best you had in over a week.

My Way Of Life (L.E.S pt. 2)
I would like to point out the I didn’t realize I should have written a part 2 L.E.S but here we go pookies
After getting walked in on by your not-boyfriends little brother, best friend and robot it was hard to think about what it is your life had come to. Where you and Tadashi dating? What if he didn’t want to date you? Maybe he just liked loving on you like you were his girlfriend but he didn’t want a girlfriend. It was possible, people did it all the time. The rest of the day you remained pretty silent, until you got home and decided to try and call him. Recap what had just happened.
He didn’t pick up, but no big deal you guys were friends so double calling wasn’t an issue. But he didn’t pick up that time either. That’s when the inevitable and desperate question popped into your head; Were you just meant to be a secret? Something to laugh off? No way- Tadashi was so sweet and honest there’s no way he would do that to you.
But was he more sweet than honest? Was he so sweet he didn’t want to hurt your feelings so he’d rather ghost you than pick up your FaceTimes? This very minor and awkward situation had you questioning all your years of friendship with him and your feelings about him.
——————————————————————————
Across town, in the small house above the closed Lucky Cat Café Tadashi had set off to do some damage control. Normally by then he’d be asleep or wishing you goodnight but not tonight. Tonight he’d been on a group FaceTime call with all his friends and his little brother listening sitting at the kitchen table next to him. All six of them having a striking conversation.
“Guys its not a big deal.” He rubbed his head his friends spin on 20 million questions.
“NOT A BIG DEAL?!” Gogo practically screeched through the phone while taking off her rice water face mask. “T, it is a big deal.”
While moisturizing his dreads Wasabi butt in, “I would like to add that I am indeed a victim.”
“As am I!” Hiro shouted. “Seriously, you disgust me!”
Tadashi gave his little brother the finger before retuning back to their conversation. “I mean, what do you want me to say?”
Honey Lemon looked up from painting her nails. Her blonde hair pushed up in a floppy bun. “Umm we want you to explain!”
“Dead-ass, man. Whatever happened to ‘nah y/n, she’s not my girlfriend. We’re just hanging out.’” Fred was sitting on his bed, holding his phone hovering above his face.
“Well, she’s not my girlfriend. We never talked about stuff like that. Just figured she was happy with what we were doing and I didn’t want to ruin that.” He reasoned. In his mind, bringing up the idea of a monogamous committed relationship to a girl he wasn’t even sure wanted to date him sounded like social suicide. For all he knew you could never have wanted a boyfriend to begin with!
Wasabi wrapped his hair up, “Do you want her to be your girlfriend?”
“W-well,” Tadashi was stuttering. Of course he wanted her to be his girlfriend. He’d nearly lost his mind planning their entire future in his head once the very first time she kissed his cheek.
On a particularly pathetic Valentines day a few years ago, Tadashi was wallowing in front of all his single friends. ‘I’ve been dating since I was 16, this is so depressing. Where is she?!’ And after he met you he was sure you were ‘she’.
But it was complicated. If he said it out loud, would he get his hopes up? Would she eventually find out and then never want to speak to him again? Questions, questions, questions.
“Okay fine!” He aggressively ran his fingers through his freshly washed black hair. “Yes, I want to be her boyfriend and take her out on dates and love her forever. Yes I do!”
The call and the room went dead with silence at the loud confession so dramatic you’d think he was getting proposed to. Until of course Hiro put on a disgusted face and nearly gagged. “Holy shit, ew!”
“You’re ew!” Tadashi snapped back. “What are you even doing up still, go to bed! Your brain has not yet fully developed and you need little boy sleep. Go!”
Hiro eventually did go upstair to their shared bedroom but the group was not done talking.
“Wait okay,” Honey popped. “After you guys got caught, did you talk about it at all?”
“After it happened she just laughed and went home.” He explained.
“Well did you call her?”
Tadashi shrugged, “No. She called me earlier but I was in the bathroom.”
Fred’s face contorted with curiosity. “Did you call her back?”
“No, I called you guys first.”
“OH MY FUCKING GOD!”
“T, THAT’S SO BAD!”
“WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU DO THAT?”
“I’M NOT THE BRIGHTEST BULB IN THE BOX BUT EVEN I KNOW BETTER”
They’d bombarded him with loud expressions of anger and disbelief. I mean how could he? You called him twice- not once-twice. And he still didn’t call you back. How could someone as smart as him make such a stupid decision?
“T, are you on drugs?” Gogo asked aggresivly. “Like genuinly.”
“No, Go. I’m not on drugs.”
“Really?” She sounded surprised. “Because your logic sounds like someone who’se been smoking a little too much jazz cabbage.”
Damn. Had he really fucked up that badly? The truth is, Tadashi didn’t call you back because he was scared of why you were trying to call him. But the more he thought about that the more he realized Gogo was right. Had he tripped and gotten poked with a used needle on the streets? This didn’t even feel like something he would do. Whenever you and him had to talk to each other you’d just go out and say it. And he’s the one who made sure you’d never keep things from each other.
He felt like such a moron. All his brain cells full of knowledge on how to combined chemical structures, and apply the laws of physics in all situations were proving to be completely and utterly USELESS!
Later that night once the call had ended and the whole house was quiet, Tadashi decided to send you a text. It being so late he hadn’t really expected you to answer and yet you did.
T: Hey, sorry about today. I know it was super awkward.
Y: It’s cool, don’t worry about it.
T: I feel really shitty about today so how about I take you out. Tomorrow, will you let me buy you dinner?
Y: As long as you let me buy you dessert
Finally, something the both of you could feel good at. For Tadashi it was nice to know you didn’t hate his guts and never want to see his face ever again. And for you, it was nice that he reached out first letting you know that he did not cast you aside once you’d been found out.
Before he went to bed that night, Tadashi looked at his wrapped finger and smiled at it.
——————————————————————————
This was turning out to be torture. The dinner plans you two had made the night before that had once made you feel good about the whole situation were now the very same plans that had you staring into your glass of lemon water like your life depended on it.
Tadashi wanted to throw up- no he was going to throw up. You two had been seated for nearly 5 minutes and nobody said anything. But you looked so pretty. To him you were always pretty but something about the whole situation made him feel like singing you a Frank Sinatra song. But it’s not like this was a date…right? Nope- just two friends having dinner. That’s it.
You couldn’t do this anymore. It was like all the air was just sucked out of the room. You needed to talk about what happened but how could you? In public? With people around and where the waiter could just come in to check up on you. You wanted to go home, but you wanted Tadashi to come home with you. You just weren’t sure if he wanted to.
“So how was your day?” He managed to squeeze out without puking.
You quickly replied. “Good.”
“Oh that’s good.”
Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
To you, his seasick face made you think you were disgusting him. Like he’d only offered to buy you dinner out of obligation. ‘Sorry I chewed on your face in front of brother and best friend, here let me take you out to dinner so I don’t feel bad about never speaking to you again.’ But even to your insecurities that sounded ridiculous, so you decided to test the waters.
“Are you okay?” You leaned over and touched his hand. “You look sick.”
Once you’d touched his hand it felt like you’d shot ice cold water into his veins. Shocked, but maybe it was a good shocked. If you were touching him you still mut have cared or tolerated him in one way or another.
“I’m fine, it’s just…awkward.” He honestly communicated.
You couldn’t argue with that. This was beyond awkward. In fact if you looked up the word awkward in the dictionary you’d probably find a snapshot of this dinner.
“Bad awkward or good awkward?”
Shit, what answer did you want him to give?
“Uhh I’m not sure. What do you think?” Smooth T, reeaall smooth.
You ran your finger against the rim of your water glass. “Bad, I mean we haven’t really been talking this whole time.”
“Yeah this is weird.” He admitted. You guys were always talking. About everything and anything.
“Unless,” Damnit y/n just rip the band aid off. “You don’t want to talk to me.”
Tadashi felt his stomach gurgle. Oh no. “What? Why wouldn’t I want to talk to you?”
“Well, you didn’t call me back yesterday and when I got here you barely looked at me.”
All incredibly valid points. God he was such an idiot. Grown ass man, acting the way he was acting.
“I’m so sorry, love. I don’t know why I’m acting like this.” He plopped his head in his hands adn that was when you’d finally had enough of this game of kiddie tug-of-war. If you didn’t ask it now, you’d never ask it later.
“Tadashi,” You placed your elbows on the table and looked directly at him. “Do you not like me?”
In the amount of time it took you to ask that question Tadashi had gone from wanting to puke, to wanting to cry. He scooted his chair over to yours and grabbed both of your hands. “What are you talking about? Y/n, of course I like you.”
“But you wouldn’t even call me? The second I officially stopped being a secret you didn’t want to talk to me. What was I supposed to think?”
“I didn’t call you because I thought you didn’t want to hear from me. Not because I don’t like you.” He confessed. “I thought you were only calling to get rid of me, so I called my friends back and asked them what to do about it. Please baby, I am so sorry I made you feel that way.”
You didn’t say anything after that confession. In fact you didn’t need to. You just placed your forehead onto his and rubbed your nose against his. Your waiter had walked by trying to collect your guys’s orders but hastily walked away when she noticed you were having quite the moment. The anxiety you had about having such a deep conversation like the one you just did in public had suddenly just disappeared.
“You know,” You whispered. “Sometimes I feel like I hate everyone in the world but you.”
“That’s not healthy.” He whispered back.
You laughed in each others faces for what felt like forever in the middle of the restaurant before deciding to leave without ordering anything. You two weren’t all that hungry. But as soon as you walked outside, Tadashi’s body betrayed him and he puked in a trashcan on the side of the street.
“Oh my god are you okay?” You rubbed his back while he retched.
With his hand held over his mouth he admitted, “I’m so sorry it’s not you, hun. I’ve just been holding that in for the past twenty minutes.”
And yes, that very same night Tadashi did ask-beg- to be your boyfriend. You obviously said yes. And obviously, Hiro was going to stuff his bed with different shaped pillows to make it look like he wasn’t spending the night at your place.

“ Did all this happen because I left?”
Pause girlies because this is actually kinda serious. I just got out of a depressive episode and just really wanted to give the depression girlies a lil treat. Remember: you need other people in your life when you have depression. Make friends not resources. I love y’all (angst)
How can something be so painful yet so numb at the same time? The human brain is one of the most complex systems in the universe, aside from the universe itself. How it can feel so many polar opposite things simoultaniouly, and in that creating an entire civil war within itself. How could the brain, the thing meant to be in charge with your care and wellbeing one day just decide to decrease its own activity and make you miserable? It was the worlds greatest betrayal.
You’d been lying in your bed for the past week, and you might have gotten up twice a day. Once to use the bathroom and the other to get some food and bring it right back to your bed. Everyone said it wasn’t a big deal because you were young and you were probably just in a bad mood because of your hormones. Hormones were evil enough to suction blood from your reproductive organs (usually) once a month, they couldn’t possibly be cruel enough for this.
On your overheated and whirling computer was an endless loop of lousy reality T.V shows you’d watched over and over. There’s been therapists that have said that in these times of depressive episodes, you should revert back to adding some life and movement back into your brain. Which meant doing things like crossword puzzles, working out, math games, and reading 200+ page books. All things that you could totally do and things you liked to do. But not right now. Now all you wanted was junk food and shitty TLC shows. Not some slow burn, or some huge mystery TV show that required you to remember tiny details from the beginning of the season. Reality TV was entertaining, effortless, and on loop but you’d be lying if you said everytime you heard the freaky eaters intro a little more of your brain died.
That’s the funny thing about depression. Because even though you can feel yourself slipping and drowning in total misery, there’s nothing anyone can do to save you. So you get stuck in this endless loop of self detructive behavior hoping that the pain you experience on the outside is enough to kill the thing on the inside.
You were clinically depressed, and nothing nobody did was ever going to change that. But these episodes weren’t always like this. For a while, episodes were bearable. Your ‘friend’ made them better.
You’d known Hiro for a while, meeting him on the downtown bus during sunset on a spring saturday. You thought he was cool, he thought you were pretty. But the whole girlfriend-boyfriend thing seemed uncomfortable and the labels meade things weird.
Granted you were each others first kiss. The two of you had tried to convince each other it was just because you got asked out to your eighth grade formal and you wanted to be prepared. It also didn’t help much that the more you described the dude that asked you out, the more Hiro wished he hadn’t skipped all those grades.
You never told anyone about that. Sure you could say it was a one time thing but it was hard to use that as a defense when you’d made out with him because you were bored under the dock near the beach during the summer carnival, and when you were just playing video games in his room, and when you were sitting on the steps of the museum of Japanese artifacts while sharing a soda, and the time you two were at the skatepark after it closed and you two were making out- only except that time he’d taken off his jacket.
Sure you were both fifteen but you watched people make out in the hallways at school everyday. Kissing didn’t seem like this massive thing. Hiro grew up isolated from the true highschool experience, he didn’t know. All he knew was that making out with you was cool and pretending he only did it because he was bored (and not because he would swear on his teen hormones that he loved you) was even cooler.
His aunt and brother had liked to tease you for it, but that’s all it was: teasing. The two of you would never live down the torment you’d likey face if they found out about your “I’m bored, let’s make out” sessions.
Speaking of, your mom didn’t really know you and Hiro were like that. She was only partly sure you liked him and you only thought that because one day after she caught you being particularly smiley that night after having him over to stream a new song she came into your room, played with your hair and said: “So you and Hiro are friends? That’s nice, he’s seems nice. Just, make sure he doesn’t make it worse.”
That was also kind of a silly depression thing: People and their influence could make it worse for you, others, and even themselves. Bad influence already makes bad people, but bad influence on people with depression tends to make them miserable, desperate, and self loathing.
But contrary to what your mom had said, Hiro didn’t make it worse. He made it better and she would soon figure that out after you’d tried texting him multiple times despite knowing he was at an expo outside the city. And he’d respond as fast as he could with the best messages, but when he’d go dead silent for almost ten hours each day it just dampened your mood. You’d kept reminding yourself not to be selfish, that your lack of ability to be happy shouldn’t stop people from living their lives. But from the hours of 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. you were left with no friend and a fat headache.
——————————————————————————
The intro to a show you couldn’t remember the name of played for the tenth time that day, drying out your eyes and causing an endless headache. You were surprised you hadn’t at least gotten a stomach ache from all the Tylenol you’d been taking. Someone knocked at your closed bedroom door before gently opening it.
“Y/n,” Your mom squinted through the darkness of your closed blinds and at the glowing computer screen. “There’s someone here to see you.”
With your back faced to her you couldn’t say anything other than a low, “Oh.”
She left for a bit as you continued to lay there, helpless almost dead. Thinking about death is something everyone does up to a certain extent. Questions like: How will I die? What comes next? Are ghosts real? All normal.
But when you and people like you thought about death it wasn’t like when other people thought about death.
Suddenly, your door creaked open and you didn’t even have the energy to look back but you just knew. Hiro had looked around at your depression room and sighed. He hadn’t even been around you for more than thirty seconds and he already wanted to cry. This was bad- so bad. The boy gently crept up to your bed and sat down. You felt the dent of his body in your mattress and still didn’t move.
“How are you?” His voice was quiet.
You responded barely above a whisper, “Fine.”
“When’s the last time you left this room?”
You didn’t even reply. At that moment, breathing was too much work. Having to think about the air going through your lungs and exhaling it out was a chore.
Hiro leaned over your body and shut the laptop closed before moving it off your head and placing his body in it’s spot. You two were now face to face, laying on your bed like the lovers of valdaro. It was bad this time and everyone knew it. Guilt had been eating him alive since he read the shift in your texts. How could he enjoy himself at this expo while you were there suffering?
“Did all of this happen because I wasn’t here?” He whispered.
You grabbed onto his hand. “No. I’ve always been like this.”
“Do you promise?”
“I swear it.”
“But it’s never been this bad before. If I was here then-”
“You couldn’t have done anything.” You cut him off. “Hiro I’ve been like this all my life. And you shouldn’t feel obligated to hold yourself back because I’m not normal.”
Once while playing around at the park at midnight you told Hiro that a therapist you had said these episodes will wax and wane. In the good there will be bad and in the bad there will be good. But there would never be moment where it would just be good. You’d be this way for the rest of your life, sad, in pain, and left with a feeling of mania and worthlessness. And there was nothing he could do about it.
“Do-” Hiro’s voice started to shake and a tear from my eye scurred across his face. “Do I at least make it any better?’
The thought of making it better by being there would in turn make him feel a little less guilty about not being able to be with you all the time.
For the first time in a week, you gave him a weak smile. No teeth, just lips. Before you leaned forward and gave him a prolonged kiss. In return, he brushed your hair from your face and started petting your head.
“Yes,” You whispered. “You do.”

Normal Girl pt. 1
Hey pookie! This took forever but I realized midway through I needed to split it into three parts. Thanks for the request this was fun to make.
You wish you could lay here forever. It was raining and your puffy sheets were cold which would have bothered you if not for the warm body you were resting on top of. Tadashi had been under a great amount of stress. He wanted his doctor title and was the youngest candidate going for it. In order to do that he needed a dissertation of roughly 100-450 pages to defend in front of an academic jury. The paper was done, thank goodness. But he still needed to defend it and even then they could deny him his phD. If he’d spent his week trying to prepare for his defense he’d drive himself insane. So instead, he spent all his time with you. Watching movies, sleeping in, staying up, doing mundane tasks and trying to relax as much as possible before his defense. You’ve never had to refill your anti-stress tea collection and melatonin gummies in one week before.
But the defense was tomorrow and he desperately needed to calm himself. So he went through his presentation twice and then zipped it away in a separate backpack. You pressed your ear to his chest and listened to his breathing and muffled heartbeat. The patterning of the rain on the window going through one ear and the opening and closing of your boyfriend's valves pumping blood through his body in the other.
“I never want to get up.” You admitted.
Tadashi responded sleepily, “I know.” With his eyes shut. Gosh his eyelashes were so long.
“What time is your hearing tomorrow?” You brought your hand up to his face and started caressing it. All the prep work he was doing to defend his thesis had resulted in a lack of care for personal upkeep. He’d started growing stubble (which you found very attractive) but eventually had you help him shave it off to look presentable for his defense. (Something you were clearly upset about)
“10 a.m, I have to be there like two hours early though.”
You just hummed in response and continued to lay in his bare chest in silence. You’d gotten to the point where you could just be together like that without it being inherently sexual. On your nightstand, your phone buzzes and vibrates through the wood. When you checked, it was your mom. She sent you a photo of a four leaf clover she found in her garden with the text: Look what I found!
You knew she was wishing Tadashi good luck. Once while visiting her he’d let it slip that he wanted to be Dr. Hamada , and your mom actually squealed. She’d known him as long as you two had been together and she’d rather make sure he was fed before you were. She was proud of him.
“Look what my mom sent.” You smiled, pointing the phone towards your boyfriend's face.
Tadashi opened his eyes and instantly smiled. He took the phone from your hands and sent your mom a voice recording thanking her for all her support (and free Printer ink).
“She loves you so much,” you smiled and kissed his lips. “She really is my mother.”
Tadashi cupped her hands around your head and smiled at you. “Yes she is, pretty girl.”
You stayed that way while Tadashi whispered sweet nothings into your ears as the sky started to get darker and he had to leave. Aunt Cass was insistent that he spend that last night before his defense hearing back at home so she could make him sweet potato for good luck. He leaned over your bed and slipped his shirt back over his head and pulled his pants over his boxers.
You got up out of bed and slipped an oversized shirt over yourself and walked him out the door.
“Good luck, baby, I love you, my smart boy.” You buried your face in his neck with a hug.
Tadashi dug his face into your head and kissed the tops of it. “Thank you, darling . I love you too.”
“I’ll come pick you up tomorrow and take you out, wherever you want.” You promised.
Tadashi shrugged into the hug. “They may not approve my defense, you know?”
“If they don’t they’re morons but that still doesn’t matter. Because you worked so hard and deserve so much, right?”
Tadashi’s unrelenting and slightly irritating humbleness drove you truly mad sometimes. He had the work ethic of a mule and a brain like Berkeley. Everyone knew it but if you pointed it out he’d just say “oh, thank you but I’m not all that”. Not even in a pick me way. And you were determined to get his confidence up.
He just nodded, dropping his head into your shoulder while you combed your fingers through his dark hair.
“Right?” You repeat.
“Right.” He confirmed.
You gave him one last forehead kiss and sent him off the drive home. After he left you went to your kitchen and started cleaning what little appliances you had after not leaving your room with your boyfriend for nearly a week. Once the kitchen was clean you needed to shower and change your clothes. Showering with another person is not exactly the epitome of cleanliness, not that you’ve only been showering with Tadashi for the past week….. When you headed back to your room dripping wet you kicked something laying on the floor.
It’s Tadashi’s backpack. With his defense inside.
———————————————————————
Tadashi is very clean. He doesn’t like messy anything, his room remains clean and his schedule is so organized to the point it was more of a battle plan than a timeline. So this was not only out of character but IMPOSSIBLE.
Hiro was watching in horror as Tadashi wrecked the entire car and dumped every item of clothing in his overnight bag out onto the floor.
“What is happening?” Hiro asked, completely baffled.
Tadashi diddnt respond and continued to mutter under his breath “where the fuck is it?”
It wasn’t until Aunt Cass walked out back to the absolute wreck with a small bowl of sweet potatoes and matcha on a tray that he looked up from the wreckage.
“Auntie, have you seen my defense?!” Tadashi's voice dripped with desperation.
Before Aunt Cass could even answer Hiro practically screamed, “YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING DEFENSE?!”
“Hiro! Language!” Aunt Cass slapped him in the back of the head. “But seriously, Tadashi! What happened to it?”
Tadashi squeezed onto his hair so tightly it looked like he might rip a chunk of it out. “I don’t know! I had it ,I know I did!”
Silence between the three until Hiro perked up. “Wait, you have a copy of it on my computer. Just reprint it. I think the print room at the lab closes at 10, if you rush you can make it.”
Tadashi didn’t need to be told twice. He ran upstairs, sent the document of his defense to the schools Printer email, and texted Wasabi to ask him to stand at the printer so the techs didn’t shut down the printers for the night. And he was off, speeding over the speed limit (by two miles per hour) and headed to the school.
Unknowing to him you were making your way to his house to drop off his defense. You could have just called him to come get it but he didn’t need any additional stress including driving.
You’d only been to Tadashi’s house once and it was when there was nobody home. You just needed to use the bathroom and his house was closest. But you knew about his little brother and his aunt and about how he lost his parents when he was young. How could you forget? The way he talked about them made you cry harder than him.
When you pulled up to the front of the cafè the lights were mostly off except those coming from the kitchen. You swung the backpack over your shoulder and headed towards the door. A small bell above the door jingled and prompted a woman to walk out with a tray of dirty coffee cups on them.
“Oh, I’m sorry we’re closed.” She apologized.
You waved your hand and held up the backpack. “Oh no, I’m not here to order anything. I just have Tadashi’s defense.”
Hiro poked his head out the curtain after hearing the word “defense” to see you standing at the entrance with his brothers backpack.
“Oh! Okay, Hiro tell Tadashi that he can turn around.” She told him.
You handed your boyfriends aunt the backpack when she asked, “I’m sorry, what’s your name again?”
“Y/n,” You smiled.
But the smile completely faded when Tadashi’s aunt turned around to look at his brother with a “have you ever met her before” look. Hiro shook his head before calling his brother telling him to turn around.
You added with uncertainty, “I’m…Tadashi’s girlfriend.”
Hiro pulled the phone away from his ear and perked up. “Tadashi has a girlfriend?”
The entire cafè went silent. They didn’t know? You’d never met them before but they didn’t even recognize your name? Who the hell did they think Tadashi was spending his entire week with? Who did they think he FaceTimed in his room at midnight pretty much every day? Either Tadashi’s family had the memory of a goldfish or….your boyfriend lied. Not just about you but your existence as a whole. The girl he said he loved.
You just nodded and let that sink in. You could see the collective “oh shit” look in your boyfriends family’s faces as they tried to salvage it by saying things like “you know your name does sound familiar” but it didn’t matter. Nothing anyone who wasn’t your boyfriend explaining himself was going to change how you felt.
Around that time an engine pulled up the front of the cafè and switched off. Tadashi had turned around and came back home. When he opened the door it was like the aroma of awkward bitch slapped his psyche across the face.
“Hey, hunny.” He whispered and brushed his thumb against your skin. “Thank you so much, you’re a lifesaver. I love you.”
You didn’t respond. Only wished everyone a good night and left. Hiro looked at his brother with a look the read “what the fuck?” And Aunt Cass looked at her nephew with a look of “what did you do?”
Fun fact about Tadashi: he can take a hint and read social cues. So he ran outside in the cold and chased octet you right as you were about to get into your car.
“Hey, hey, hey, what’s wrong?” He grabbed your wrist.
You looked at him with daggers in your eyes. “They don’t know who I am?”
Tadashi looked like he was going to puke. And you were having none of it.
“My mother invited you to her graduation, and you went to my cousins wedding. And your family does know who I am!” Now you were yelling. Tadashi’s neighbors were getting dinner and a show.
When he didn’t respond you forced yourself to ask the question that had been lingering in your head. “ Are you…are you like—ashamed of me?”
“No! Never!” Tadashi shouted back at you.
“Then how come they don’t know who I am!” You shouted.
Tadashi rubbed his temples. “I have mentioned you before, back when we were still just talking. But it’s not something we do! It’s just not! Every once in a blue moon they’ll check up on my romantic life but that’s it. Hiro liked a boy for five months before I even knew his name! When my aunt goes on dates she doesn’t tell us their names. It’s just not us! That’s all!”
It made sense. You know it did. But that didn’t make it hurt any less.
Tadashi grabbed onto your face and pressed kisses all over it. “I love you, I swear I do. Nothing you do will ever make me ashamed of you. You mean the world to me, please believe me.”
You grabbed his hand and gently removed it from your face as you started kissing his hand and his wrist. Your kisses trailed up his arm and onto his face until you gave him one last forehead kiss.
“Good luck, tomorrow.” And you hopped back in your car and drove off. Leaving tadashi standing there in the streetlight surrounded by urban darkness. And with every tire rotation away from him, Tadashi’s heart broke a little more until it eventually snapped when he could no longer see your car.

Hiro doesn’t get babies, but he likes them only when they look like his brother and (almost) sister in law
Hiro does not know how to handle babies. So when you first bring Bodie around for a full day when she’s not constantly sleeping as a newborn he’s a little lost.
“Sup’” Hiro looks down at the baby swing.
With the most disappointed face Tadashi asks “Sup? Really?”
“What am I supposed to say to her?! It’s not like she understands.”
“She understands tone, stupid. Do me a favor and put a little pep in your voice.” Tadashi kneeled down towards Bodie and cooed wordless noises at her.
Hiro would try, he really would. He’d overdue a sweet baby voice and end up freaking Bodie out till she started crying for her dad to hold her. Tadashi would but not before slapping his brother in the back of the head for making his baby cry. The next time it happened, Tadashi had come home from a three hour class after picking up Bodie and he hadn’t used the bathroom in hours. He places the carrier on the counter of the cafe while Hiro is working.
“Watch her please-“
“Bro I don’t think-“
“Hiro I’m about to piss my pants, just watch her for two seconds!”
Hiro blinked at Bodie. Sure he’d been around her but never alone. He’s not exactly prime babysitting material-hell he wasn’t even dog sitting material. He didn’t know what he was doing, what if she started crying?
“Hi Bodie.” He waved awkwardly.
At the absence of Tadashi’s voice, Bodies face started to crinkle and she started to whimper.
“No, no, no, don’t cry. There’s no reason to cry.” Hiro practically begged her and it seemed to work because she quoted down enough so that he could hear the tablet on the counter ding. Someone had placed a mobile order for pickup.
Not wanting to take his eyes off of Bodie, he walked backwards to grab four plastic to-go cups and lids. He filled each cup with different kinds of boba, spilling most of it as his eyes were locked in on Bodie. He noticed she seemed to like the sound of the drinks being poured into the cup. Hiro emptied out some of the drink back into the pitcher so he could pour it back in.
He was shocked when Bodie started letting out little baby cackles at the sound.
“Y-you like this?” Babies were truly fascinating. “I don’t know if you’d like to taste it but- well I mean you can have boba, no? It’s practically jelly.”
“Not yet, but she can have some in about a month.” Tadashi’s voice echoed from the stairs. He’d been listening the entire time.
“Oh, cool.” A slight pinch of embarrassment made his cheeks feel hot.
“And she likes liquid sounds,” Tadashi walked down the stairs and through the curtain to get to the front of the cafe. “She won’t sleep without water noises.”
“Thanks for watching her, I’ll take her now. I have so much homework to do.”
Hiro quickly added, “oh you can leave her here.”
Tadashi looked at his brother carefully. “Are you positive?”
“Yeah I mean, if you’ve got homework you probably can’t give her too much attention so you should just leave her here…with me.”
Hiro tried to play it cool but Tadashi saw right through it. But he didn’t say anything. He just smiled.
“Alright, I’ll be in our room.” Tadashi cupped his hand around Bodie's cheek and kissed her forehead before running up the stairs to do his work.
Sure Hiro didn’t really get babies, but that didn’t mean he didn’t like them.

I can’t re-respond but an anon a while ago requested a Tadashi and cna reader. But because I’m on a dad! Tadashi frenzy, Bodie will be making another appearance.
They say that doctors make the worse patients, but you and your boyfriend aren’t doctors. You’re a cna and his minor was in medicine along with his major in robotics. So maybe you weren’t the worse patients but for people with more medical knowledege than the average person you made for some very crappy caretakers. Now, it’s not because you two are irresponsible but one thing you learn in medical school is you can’t let it get too personal. You need to be realistic so your patients can be idealistic. But it’s hard to do that when your patient is four years old, and your own daughter.
When Bodie was two, you noticed she was having a hard time breathing. She’d wheeze as she slept and when she cried she’d stop breathing. You and your boyfriend did extensive research and even made a spreadsheet to organize her breathing data. It concerned you but family medical history showed that it ran in Tadashi’s family to have asthma. Hiro had a hard time breathing as a kid, Tadashi needed to carry around an inhaler in high school, and their dad slept with a CPAP machine most of his life. You two came to the conclusion that it was just genetic and she would likey need an inhaler when she got older. That was until Bodie was eventually diagnosed with non-eosinophilic asthma, or therapy resistance asthma. Normal asthma treatments didn’t work on Bodie.
At first sound of the news, you cried. How could you be around people with problems similar and not recognize them in your own daughter? Tadashi wasn’t feeling much better. He built a robot designed with over ten thousand medican procedures programmed into it only to overlook his baby girls severe asthma. That night, while you sat in the hospital and Bodie slept with an oxygen mask on you’d come to the same conclusion: We failed as parents and we let our daughter down.
But disappointment is one hell of a motivator. Since then you two had developed a well organized routine to try and prevent any future attacks. Every morning at 6:30 Tadashi would wake her up gently and have her breathe in one dosage of corticosteroids for twenty seconds each pump. Then he’s have her put some water in her mouth, slosh it around, and spit it out into a bowl to prevent yeast. In the middle of the day you’d make her drink hot tea to spit out any sticking mucus. By the night you and Tadashi would have her wear an ocisllator while you read a book to her and rubbed her back till she coughed out enough mucus for one night. That was your routine over and over again. And it worked, so imagine the horror when you needed to run to the emergency room in the middle of the night because Bodie couldn’t breathe properly and it was becoming clearer that it could not be handled at home.
“We’re almost there, baby.” You cooed, trying your best to make her feel better. You had sat with her in the backseat while Tadashi tried his hardest not to drive a noticeable amount over the speed limit.
Bodie’s breathing was scarily irratic, her heart was racing at a million miles per hour, and you could hear the obviously painful wheezing coming from her mouth and chest. Tears pricked the corners of her eyes in pain.
The second you pulled up to the emergency room (parked horribly) Tadashi held Bodie like a baby and rushed inside while you pulled up all her medical information and cards from your phone and wallet.
While you checked her in, you could hear Tadashi shushing Bodie and rubbing her back gently. “I know, baby. I know, it hurts.”
Normally there is nothing urgent about the pacing of the emergency room. You could easily wait a few hours there in a waiting room with fifty other people. But because of Bodie’s age, state, and prexisting condition they got her in within minutes. The medically trained sides of you and Tadashi said that was lucky, but the parent sides of you two were not satisfied that it took that long.
They gave her midazolam to calm her heart down, put her on a breathing machine, and kept her there for two days. When you called, Aunt Cass and Hiro came running towards the hospital to spend time with Bodie. But they had to leave every night.
By your second nights stay, you’d gone to use the bathroom down the dark hospital corridor. When you left, Tadashi was unfortably sitting in one of the chairs with his head tilted back towards the wall, but when you came back you saw him sitting right next to Bodie’s bed, running his hand over her hair. He just sat there and watched her breathe, her little lungs giving it her all. Her stuffed penguin started slipping from her hand when Tadashi grabbed it from falling and tucked it into her chest. And that was it, you began to cry at the sight of your boyfriend tucking your poor little girl into her hospital bed.
“Hey,” Tadashi looked up at you. “What’s wrong?”
You said nothing and instead just walked over to the seat next to his and rested your head on his shoulder. Now both of you were watching baby Bodie struggle together.
“You okay?”
You honestly answered “no” while shaking your head and still crying. Maybe it was sheer exhaustion, maybe it was the pain you felt watching her, or maybe it was both. Whatever it was, it was mentally kicking your ass.
Tadashi pulled his hand away from Bodie’s head and turned all his attention towards you. He rested his forehead against yours and asked, “Will you talk to me, please?”
“I don’t know how I could let this happen,” You answered honestly. “I’m supposed to prevent these things from happening to patients and I couldn’t stop it from happening to her.”
He immediately started shaking his head left to right. “No, ba-baby listen to me, nobody could have kept this from happening. There was nothing you could have done, am I right?”
He is right, but that doesn’t make you feel any less like a shitty parents.
“It’s just…” You don’t even finish the sentence because you know he understands.
Tadashi took a deep breath and looked back at Bodie, his bottom lip starting to shake and his eyes going glossy. “I know, I just need to tell her I’m sorry.”
“What?” Your voice broke halfway through. “Why sorry?”
A singular tear fell from his eye which he quickly wiped away. “She’s in so much pain, I know she is…and it’s my fault.”
“How could it be your fault?”
More tears gently fall out of Tadashis deep brown eyes, “It’s my genes. She gets this from me- I’m the reason she’s hurting. I feel so sorry.”
Your heart nrealy cracked in half at his words. This man dedicated his life to making sure Bodie was loved, cherished, healthy, and happy. And now he was blaming himself for her unfortunate suffering that really was just a bad luck of the draw.
You were quick to respond, “No, this is not your fault-”
“It is though y/n.” He softly interrupted you while resting his head on the side of the hospital bed. “This whole asthma thing runs in my family, and I gave it to her.”
“You gave her so much more than this.” You shook your head. He gave everything for Bodie and now he was reducing it to bad genetics and it was fucking sad.
You leaned down and dug your head into his neck. Muffling off all the wonderful things Bodie got from her father. “You gave her those beautiful brown eyes, and that little dimple on her left cheek, and god forbid she’d gotten my dental genes-”
Tadashi sniffled and let out a laugh at the mention of your family’s unfortunate dental genetics. You also mentioned that once the doctor had told you that Bodie would likey grow up to be very tall, something she definitely got from Tadashi.
“But you also gave her your mind, because she is so smart like her daddy. And you gave her your heart because when she cares she cares one hundred percent just like her daddy. And she loves like her daddy, and she laughs like him.” You could go on forever. They were so similar in everything, he was practically born to be not just A dad, but to be HER dad.
“Do you remember what she looked like as baby?” You whispered, but it was rhetorical. Of course he remembered, you’d have to whack him in the back of the head with a metal bat in order for him to forget. “Just. Like. You.”
Tadashi paused before saying, “She got Hiro’s hair.”
“Pffft.” You two started laughing as quietly as possible at the memory. Bodie was born with a full head of crazy light brown hair that eventually fell out and grew back as jet black.
All the memories of Bodie came spilling out of your mouths like word vomit. Like when she was doing tummy time but Mochi was confused by the concept of babies so he started pawing it her to see if she’d move. Or when Tadashi knocked on the doorframe and pretending he hit her head on it. “Oh my gosh, baby I’m so sorry are you okay?” and laughed when she started crying like she was in the worst pain of her life. The first time she met Baymax she though it was the funniest thing ever and kept poking at the inflatable material. When she’d first started talking, she was sitting on her playmat with Hiro and she tried pronouncing his name.
“Hee-row,” He broke his name down into phonics. “Hiro.”
“Hee-o.”
“No, Hee-rrrrr-o” He dramticalled rolled his r’s.
Stubbornly, she insisted, “Hee-o”
“Hee-o” Hiro gave in with a smile on his face accepting his new name.
By the end of sharing memories you were laughing and crying at the same time. It was so bittersweet. The memories of your daughter being so happy with you two were clashed with the pain such a happy little girl was going through. A four years old needed a machine to help her breath and a IV too big for her arm drip down anti-anxiety medication because her little heart was beating too fast for her body. While you and Tadashi acknowledged that nobody is to blame for the terrible things Bodie has to go through, the mommy and daddy guilt is just too much to bare.
So the next day, after Bodie was discharged you would spend the entire day with her (inside because after an attack like that she can’t go outside without a mask on for a while). You’d invite her uncle Hiro and her great-aunt Cass and you would just hang out all day. At the end of the night while she wore her vest, you would watch a movie with your family and Bodie would not haver a designated bedtime. Just so she could spend as much time as possible with her family.
But that would be for tomorrow. Because for now, you two would sit by your baby Bodie while she heaved her chest up and down. Soaking in as much air the world both you and Tadashi brought her into had to offer.

Butterfly Stroke
It is a truth universally acknowledged, babies are not easy. You accepted it when you realized you were going to have a baby, when you had a baby, and when your baby kept you from doing the things you both loved to do and needed to do. But your mindset deviated from that whenever you watched your boyfriend with your baby.
“Ready…up,up, and down!” Tadashi cooed at Bodie while bouncing her up and down in the pool.
He was a natural.
When Tadashi was building Baymax, he studied all types of medicine and human sciences. Including psychology, which had a sub-subject of how fatherhood and motherhood is affected by infants. He also learned that many parents have reservations about teaching their children to swim out of fear of them drowning. Shockingly, drowning is a very unfortunate and sad cause of death in infants and toddlers because of how silent it is. From then on he made sure he would always teach his children how to swim. It seemed dumb. Why not teach your kids how to navigate 70% of the world if you have the means to?
You clutched your hands over your chest as a feeling of worry rested in your stomach. It’s not like you were totally panicked. Tadashi was a strong swimmer and would rather throw himself in front of a bullet train than have his baby get hurt in any way. Still you couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
“Baby, careful.” You pleaded. “Watch her face.”
Tadashi reassured you, “I got her, don’t worry.”
Despite your worry, Bodie seemed to be having the time of her life. Her chubby little face was contorted in laughter and happiness as she pounded her baby fists into the surface of the pool. Even as a baby, she loved water. Just like her daddy in every way possible. Tadashi was a surfer and a champion swimmer in high school. And he probably would have gone on to be the next Micheal Phelps if he didn’t choose to go to SFIT for a 5,000 dollar scholarship in the robotics and physics department.
“Look at you!” Tadashi cooed at Bodie. His bare chest pressed up against her tiny body as she started kicking her chubby little legs. “Waaa- my baby is so strong, look Bodie! Say hi to mommy!”
Tadashi grabbed Bodie’s hand and waved it at you.
“Hi baby!” You squealed back at them.
Tadashi smiled before motioning his hand for you to join them to be fully immersed in the pool. He leaned over and pressed his lips to the side of your face before shaking his jet black hair back and forth like a dog.
“EW!” You squealed before grabbing Bodie into your arms. “Bodi say ‘ew, daddy!’”
Tadashi laughed before ducking his way under the water and butterfly swimming across the way.
“You gonna be a swimmer?” You asked Bodie.
Bodie giggled, “Dada!”
“Yeah? ” you giggled. “like daddy?”
Tadashi had already swam back to you two and hugged you from behind. Dripping wet.
“When can I take her surfing?” He mumbled, face dropped into the dip of your shoulder.
You let out an audible laugh. “Never!”
“What?! That’s not fair,” He whined. “Bodie tell mommy that isn’t fair.”
“Nooo, mama.” She babbled in response.
Your boyfriend threw his head back in laughter and your jaw dropped. But you were only half joking. Once, at the beach during summer break Tadashi fell off his board after slipping from a wave. For almost ten minutes you couldn’t find him until another group of surfers pushed him towards the shore. He was coughing up water and had to just lay down for a few minutes to catch his breath. You’re not sure. If you’ve ever felt so scared. Especially when he sent you a photo two days later of him scuba diving with Hiro.
“No you’re right though, it’s dangerous.” He agreed with you.
You leaned your head back into his chest to kiss the bottom of his chin. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Tadashi reached over and squished his daughter's baby cheeks. “And you!”

Hi!! I hope you’re having a lovely day,I was wondering if you’d be willing to write something with tadashi and a cna reader? If not that’s totally cool! I love your fics!!!!
Hey pookie, quick question. When you say cna do you mean like Certified nursing assistant? Like a human physiologist? Just making sure cause my slang glossary has not been updated.
