It was past midnight when you called Ben. Sally was finally asleep, even if she was still upset when she surrendered to slumber. She refused to tell you why she was so upset about all this, and you didn’t want to push her. Ben had left a couple of hours ago, you had argued that you needed to handle your daughter on your own. And if he had claimed to understand, he was still worried sick when he put on his coat and left for the night.
“Is Sally asleep?” he sounded tired, but you had no doubt that he was still wide awake when you called.
“Yeah. She’s still upset though.”
“Did she say anything?”
“Nothing… I don’t know… I thought she could have questions, that she might be a little stressed for a while. But I wasn’t expecting a full-on outburst like this.”
“Yeah, me neither. I don’t understand, I thought… I thought she liked having me around.”
“She did. She talked about you all the time.”
“I don’t understand what we did wrong. Do you think we should have just… shown her. Like hold hands and stuff?”
“She would have asked herself questions, it might have stressed her a lot.”
Ben heaved a sigh.
“What are we going to do now?”
You remained silent, feeling tears come to your eyes again. And on the other side of town, Ben was wiping his cheeks.
“I don’t want to lose you,” he confessed in a breath. “I know that you’ll take the decision that will be best for Sally, and I’ll never blame you for that. But I don’t want to lose you, Y/N. Can we… can we try to fix this before I have to be pushed away?”
Your voice was low and raspy when you answered.
“Of course, Ben. We’ll talk to Sally again. First, we need to figure out what got her so upset. I’ve never seen her like that. And we’ll try to fix this. I… I don’t want to lose either. I won’t leave unless there is truly nothing else that we can do.”
“Thank you.”
“I’ll try to talk to her tomorrow. You can come see us in the afternoon, as planned.”
“You’re sure it’s a good idea?”
“Yeah. We need to try again. Together.”
“Alright. Do you think I have a chance to bribe her if I bring ice cream?”
You chuckled at that, feeling a little better thanks to him and his soothing voice.
“It might not be enough, but it won’t hurt.”
Tumblr media
Sally was staring by the window at the falling rain.
She had barely spoken a word in the whole morning, which was threateningly unusual for your buoyant girl.
You looked at her tiny frame, at her Stitch t-shirt and the mess of her hair. How could such a tiny human hold so much love and space in your heart?
“Sally, do you want to prepare the pasta sauce with me?”
But she shook her head, eyes still fixed on the blurred world beyond the window. You heaved a sigh, walking closer.
You had left her alone this morning, thinking that she would need some time to process what had happened. But she was still cold and distant and just… apathetic. She was like that when her father left…
“Angel, about what Ben and I told you last night…”
But she turned further away from you, a silent way to show you that she didn’t want to talk about this. It needed to be done, though.
“Angel, you know I love you more than anything in this world,” you went on, voice soothing but with a tinge of vulnerability through a tremor. “Ben and I being together… it won’t change anything. It won’t change that. Nothing can ever change that.”
You reached for her, and Sally didn’t push you away when you ran your fingers through her hair.
“I thought you liked Ben.”
“I did,” the girl quipped.
“But?”
“But I don’t want that. Why do you want that?”
You held her against you, and she let you gently press her head to your stomach.
“Because he makes me happy. Because he’s kind, and he’s willing to take care of us. Because he’s taking good care of you. Because I trust him. And because he’s sillier than me, so you and I can team up against him and make fun of him.”
Sally chuckled at that, and you grinned at the sound, still running your fingers through her hair.
“I don’t want things to change again,” Sally said, breaking your heart.
You remembered the mess you were in after your break up with your ex-husband. You were just now finding your footing in all of this. And despite your best efforts to protect your daughter, no one could leave such a change unscathed.
“I understand. But that’s what life is, Sally. Things change all the time. And sometimes, they change for the better. We have to seize those when we can.”
She finally turned around to encircle you in her tiny arms, pressing her face into your belly.
“Will we still have tomato Tuesday?” she asked, her voice muffled in your clothing, and you chuckled fondly at her.
“Of course! And we’ll still see grandma every Thursday. You’ll still go to your dad’s the same. We’ll still do the same things, only… if you want, Ben can join us too.”
She didn’t say anything, and you didn’t push her. A few minutes later, the doorbell rang, and you went to open for Ben.
He gave you a warm smile, although the dark circles under his eyes betrayed his worry and lack of sleep.
“Hey. Brought ice-cream, as promised!” he said, showing you his bag, making you smile.
You kissed him before he could take off his coat, letting his soothing presence slow your heart as you breathed in his perfume.
“Hi, meerkat!” Ben greeted your daughter as he took off his shoes, the same warm smile on his lips.
She was looking at him with an unreadable expression, her bunny Mr. Carrot pressed against her heart.
“How are you today? I’ve brought ice-cream for dessert!”
But she didn’t say anything, merely looked at you and Ben with wide eyes, and she ran off before you could hold her back.
You could feel your throat tightening as you stared at the space Sally had just left empty, tears coming back to your eyes, but Ben’s hand on your arm made you turn to him at last.
“I’ll go talk to her.”
“I’m not sure it’s a good idea.”
“I’m the problem. I need to fix this.”
He didn’t let you reply. He knew that you would claim that he wasn’t a problem, but he was. He was always the problem. He was never enough…
Ben strode to Sally’s door instead, leaving you behind. The door had been left open, but he knocked anyway. She was sitting on her bed, looking at Mr. Carrot as if her plushie held the answers to everything. And Ben wished it could be that simple…
“Hey… can I come in and talk with you for a second?”
Sally didn’t look up, but she nodded, and so Ben came to sit beside her.
When he spoke again, his voice was gentle, barely more than a whisper.
“Look, Sally… I understand that it might seem like a lot to take in, and I get that you might need time to wrap your mind around all this. But… you were very upset yesterday, and you seem to still be. Can you tell me why you’re so upset? So we can try to fix that?”
She slowly looked up at Ben, with those eyes that looked just like yours now drowning in tears. Her lips trembled, and Ben wanted to abandon everything. As long as Sally could stop being sad, he would have done anything…
“You can tell me. You need to tell me,” Ben went on, blinking his own tears away. “Because… if you don’t tell me, then I can’t make it better. Do you understand? I need to know what’s wrong to make it better again.”
She went back to looking at her bunny, but she spoke this time. Voice a little hoarse, but holding the blunt honesty of childhood.
“I don’t want you to be with mummy like that.”
Ben’s heart broke in a thousand pieces. Still, he nodded, dried his cheeks with the back of his hand as he sniffed.
“Why not? What bothers you so much about that?”
She vehemently shook her head and started crying again.
“I don’t want a new dad!”
Ben frowned at that.
“I don’t want not to see my dad!”
“Sally, of course you’ll see your dad…”
“Jeremy… at school he said… that his mummy had a new husband, and then he never saw his daddy again… I want my daddy!”
“Hey… hey…”
Ben dropped to the floor, kneeling before the crying child, and held her face in his gentle palms so she would look at him, drying her cheeks.
“Hey… what are you talking about, huh? No one is going to replace your dad. You already have a dad, you don’t need another one. And you’ll keep seeing him, just like you do now. I don’t want to be your dad. I’m just ‘Ben’.”
“But then, what will you be?”
Ben blinked, taken aback and looking for the right words. What would he be if this worked out? If he could stay with you? If he was pulled into your life? If he stayed?
He smiled.
“You know what… I would be very happy if in a few years I could be… like your uncle. But a cool uncle! A fun one! Cause I’m super cool!”
He made a funny face, making her giggle.
“You’re not so cool,” she replied, and he faked outrage.
“How dare you! I’m super cool! I’ve brought ice-cream!”
But she blinked, and looked at her plushie again.
“So… you’re not gonna take daddy away?”
“Of course not, meerkat. No one is going to take your dad away. I’ll be whatever you allow me to be to you, and nothing more.”
He gave her an encouraging smile, and he thought the look in her eyes was calmer now. But she stood without warning, and headed to the living room in search for you.
“Mummy… I want to go see daddy.”
You looked at her in surprise.
“Right now, angel?”
“Yes. I want daddy.”
You heaved a sigh, picked up your phone. That wasn’t a good sign. But if she wanted to see her father to process all this, then so be it. You couldn’t say no, anyway. She was too upset for you to refuse her anything.
So, you grabbed your phone, threw a questioning glance at Ben but the distraught expression on his face spoke volumes. You listened to the beeps of the phone with a lump in your throat.
He answered on the second call.
“Everything alright, Y/N?” he asked in a neutral tone.
“Hey, Liam. Yeah, huh… Sally wants to see you, can we drop by?”
“Now? It’s not my week.”
“I know, but she wants to see you.”
“I’m working right now… can we talk over the phone? I thought we had agreed that we needed to respect the planning.”
“No, she…”
You turned around and lowered your voice to hide your words from your daughter.
“Ben and I talked to her, and she’s upset. She’s asking for you. I think… I think she doesn’t want to see me, right now.”
You hated the hurt in your voice that you couldn’t quieten, and you hated even more Liam’s silence.
“Can she come?” you asked again.
“Of course, I’ll be here in twenty.”
“I can drop her to your place…”
“No, I’ll pick her up. You’ve done enough as it is.”
He hung up, leaving you shocked with the violence of his words.
“Is daddy coming?”
You blinked your tears away, turning to Sally again and forcing a smile.
“Yeah, he’s coming. He’s leaving his flat right away, angel.”
She nodded, turned to go back to her room.
“I love you, angel.”
She slowed her steps, but didn’t turn around. As soon as she had disappeared, Ben walked over to you to hold you tight.
Tumblr media
Liam was enraged at this point. That this Ben would try and take you away was one unbearable thing, but that he would hurt Sally in any way? He was ready to smash his skull.
As he pulled away by your home, he was already picturing himself punching Ben in the face. Breaking his fucking nose.
But then, you opened the door, all red eyes and dry lips and dishevelled hair. The looks you had when you separated. When he fucked up. The looks of sadness he had wished to never see again.
And it was this Ben’s fault…
“Daddy!”
“Angel! Come here!”
He picked up Sally without a word to you, or to Ben, who he had spotted by the end of the corridor, looking sheepish, the bastard. How dared he still be here? As if he hadn’t caused enough damage already.
“Where are your stuff, Sally? You want to sleep at daddy’s place tonight?”
The girl hesitated, looked at you.
“I don’t know. I just wanted to see you.”
“Well, let’s pack a bag, just in case. Come on.”
He walked to Sally’s bedroom without another word. Put down his daughter on her bed and shut the door.
“Alright, which pyjamas do you want? The rainbow ones? Or the pirates?”
“I don’t know.”
When he turned to her again, she opened her arms, silently asking to be picked up again, and he obliged. Holding her tight, in a reassuring, constant embrace to show her that he was here, that everything would be alright. That nothing bad would ever happen to her, he would make sure of it…
“Ben is mummy’s boyfriend,” she said in a tiny voice against his shoulder.
“I know. She told me.”
Silence for a while, even the air was still.
“How does that make you feel, angel?” he asked gently, rubbing her back.
“Scared.”
“Scared? Why?”
“Jeremy at school said that his mummy replaced his daddy. And that his daddy didn’t want to see him after that.”
Liam felt his heart shatter at her words. He looked into her eyes with something offended in his expression. Sally’s eyes, your eyes, the ones he adored above all in the world…
“Sally! Don’t be silly! I’m not going anywhere. I’ll always be here for you, angel.”
“But you weren’t sometimes.”
Liam clenched his jaw at that, but held her gaze despite the tears that gathered in his eyes. Your voice rang in his head then, your warnings that he had to prioritize his family over his work, that this was the important thing he needed to fight for. And that if he wasn’t careful, Sally would resent him later.
He forced a reassuring smile.
“Look, angel… It’s been a bit hard for me at one point. But I’m still here. I’ll always be here. I won’t leave you, angel. No one is going to push me away, or make me leave. Okay? I love you, more than anything. And it will always be the case.”
“So… if mummy and Ben are together, you won’t leave?”
“Of course, I won’t leave. And I won’t let Ben replace me, okay? Did he say that he wanted to replace me?”
“No,” Sally shook her head. “Mummy and Ben said the same thing. That you would always be my daddy. Ben said that… he would be happy if he could be a cool uncle.”
Liam nodded, unsure of his feelings at this answer.
“And… would you like that? For him to be a new uncle?”
Sally pondered the question for a while, holding Mr. Carrot close. And then she nodded.
“Yeah… He’s fun! I think he could be cool too! That could be nice.”
Liam nodded.
“No matter what happens between Ben and mummy, you’ll always be my little angel. Okay?”
She nodded, holding him tight for a while longer.
“Can I stay at mummy’s tonight?”
“You don’t want to come to daddy’s?”
“No… I like my bed here better.”
He laughed at how blunt she was, but nodded, kissing her hair, breathing in her cherry shampoo, his favourite scent in the world.
“Alright.”
“Are you angry because I made you come just for a little while?”
“No, you were upset. You can always call me when you’re upset. I’m you dad, that’s my job. It’s alright. Do you want to play for a bit before I leave? I can stay for the afternoon.”
“YES! Can we make tea for Mr. Carrot?”
“Sure thing! Get everything ready, I’ll talk to mummy for a moment, and then I’ll play with you.”
Sally was happier again, although she wasn’t fully back to her bubbly self. Liam left her to find you and Ben sitting in silence on the sofa. He was holding you close, his arm around your shoulders and your head on his chest. And Liam wanted to break everything in this room…
You blinked up at him as he entered, and then you were on your feet.
“Is everything alright?”
But Liam nodded, surprising even himself.
“She’s just scared, she’ll be alright.”
“She’s packing for tonight?”
“No, she wants to stay here. She just wanted me around. I’ll stay for the afternoon, we’re making tea for Mr. Carrot.”
“She hasn’t eaten lunch yet.”
“We’ll see about that later. I’d like to talk with Ben first. Let’s step outside.”
He didn’t wait for Ben’s approval, or yours. He merely strode towards the door, and waited then in the cold air. The rain had stopped, but the sky was still dark and threatening. The street was quiet, no one was around.
Ben remained silent stepping outside the building. He waited for Liam to speak first. And he wasn’t disappointed.
“Give me a reason not to punch you right now, Ben.”
But he didn’t rise to the provocation. Instead, he remained silent again, forcing Liam to turn towards him, at last.
And Liam hated what he saw. The dark circles over his cheekbones and the red in his eyes that told that Ben had been crying for hours, barely slept at all last night. The exhaustion on his face, the fear in his gaze, the worry in the lip he had bruised after biting on it too much. And Liam hated him because Ben was clearly not a bad guy. He loved you, it was obvious in every of his movements, all of his gazes aimed for you. And he cared, clearly. He was a good man, and Liam hated him for it, because now… why would he punch him in the face?
“Is Sally alright?” were the first words Ben spoke, voice hoarse with sorrow, and Liam’s hatred only deepened.
“She will be. She thought you would replace me.”
“I don’t want to replace you…”
“No?”
“Of course not. I’m not her father. You are.”
“And yet, you are taking my place.”
Ben narrowed his eyes, and Liam withstood the challenge. He was more hurt than he thought he would by Ben’s earnest words, though. They were lethal in his ear…
“I’m not the one who was stupid enough to let Y/N go.”
Liam let out a dry laugh.
“And you’re so much better than me?”
“No, probably not. But it’s not my fault if you’ve lost her. You’ve managed that on your own. You can’t blame me for falling for her. And you can’t blame her for loving me either…”
“You think she loves you?”
“I know she does.”
“Has she told you that?”
“Yes. And I’ve told her the same.”
Love… you couldn’t love another man… infatuation, perhaps, but…
“Look, Liam, I… I know that you don’t like me. And if I’m being honest, I don’t like you either, so we’re even. But I love Y/N. And I love Sally. And I don’t want to hurt them in any way. And I don’t want to replace you, I’m not Sally’s father, and she doesn’t need me, she needs you. I’m well aware of that…”
“But if you settle with Y/N what will you do? If the two of you have children, will you push her away?”
“God, we’re not there yet…”
“But if you are?”
“Of course not. She has a father, and the best I can be for her is some weird uncle figure. And I’ll be more than happy if I can be that for her. She loves you as a father. It doesn’t mean that I can’t love her as a daughter.”
Ben shook his head, heaving a sigh, pinching the bridge of his glasses before pushing them up his nose.
“Liam, if we manage to do this, if… Sally accepts me enough for me and Y/N to be together… we can’t be enemies. I don’t like you, you don’t like me, but we can’t show it. Can we call a truce?”
He offered Liam his hand, but he didn’t take it. Instead, he walked past Ben, bumped into his shoulder for good measure, and went back to his daughter, walking before his wife.
Ex-wife.
God, he hated Ben. He hated all this.
Still, as he settled with Sally to play, he was smiling, and gentle, and when she asked about next weekend, he reassured her about their plans to go to the museum, and promised her nothing would change between them and that everything would be alright…
Tumblr media
Ben gave Sally and you some space during the following week. He didn’t drop by after Liam’s visit, arguing that Sally needed time to think and process what was happening. You tried to argue, because you missed him; but not too much, because you agreed.
Still, after over a week, on Monday evening, Sally spoke about Ben again for the first time.
“Why is Ben not coming anymore?”
“He was just busy. And we thought that perhaps you didn’t want to see him that much…”
She nodded over her bowl of soup, but frowned when she looked up at you again.
“Daddy said he was always going to be here, and Ben said he wanted to be my cool uncle.”
You couldn’t refrain a chuckle at that.
“A cool uncle… that sounds nice. Not sure he can be cool though.”
“He is cool, I think.”
You hummed in agreement, swallowing some soup.
“Can we invite him to tomato Tuesday tomorrow?”
You blinked away your tears at your daughter’s words.
“Sure. You want to call him to ask him if he wants to come?”
“Yes!”
You grabbed your phone, and called, not waiting for the end of the meal. You usually didn’t interrupt dinner, but you were too happy to wait…
Ben grinned as he saw you and Sally appear on the screen.
“Hello, ladies!”
“Hi, Ben! Sally wanted to invite you to tomato Tuesday tomorrow, do you want to come?”
Your heart was warm and full as you noticed that he was blinking tears away.
“Of course! I’d love to! Thanks, meerkat!”
“But, Ben! This is serious business!” Sally warned him. “Because on tomato Tuesday, we make the BEST pasta sauce in the world!”
“The best, really?”
“Yes! So you have to peel the tomato, and then have to boil, and to smash and mummy won’t let you eat any piece of tomato, because she’s mean… and…”
And Sally babbled away about tomato sauce, and the pasta that you cooked every Tuesday with her.
And perhaps things would be okay, after all…

Ben Barnes x reader who's in her 20s and Ben likes her one day he couldn't control himself and says it like "I know I'm older but I still love you" idk something like this?!?
Hi sorry for the delay, I'm on break from taking requests but I'm not going to abandon your request. So here's a taste of the dynamic between Ben and (Name) as I figure out what to put together. Just some headcanons whilst I work on your story.
- (Name) being a Young millennial/Millennial Z.
- I can imagine reader being an Actress and a singer herself rising through the ranks due to her unique talent.
- Ben and (Name) first met through mutual friends.
- In fact, they met at the Troubadour where Ben was actually performing that night.
- (Name) was also invited to perform as well.
- My girl did Rock music. And did she have some serious pipes.
- Ben could not look away from her performance. He thought she looked so ethereal but at the same time so enticing under the blue and dim lighting of the stage.
- The way she strummed her guitar to impossible notes made her look like a Metal Goddess.
- When the show was over Ben had the chance to introduce himself through a friend of his who conveniently knew her as well.
- He felt shy to approach such an intimidating but captivating young woman.
- He found her to be very attractive and quite adorable actually. With her highlighted hair, smokey eyeshadow with glitter, dressed in a black sheer lace top with a dark bra underneath and a pair of dark jeans and laced doc marten boots.
- Immediately fast friends when they started exchanging dirty jokes (Ben can be a hound dog for sure).
- Ben enjoys to cook and share with his friends and after getting to know (Name), he's insistent that she joins him for dinner (with some friends, of course...it wasn't a date...not yet).
- When she first came to dinner she brought over some special dessert from her culture (Whatever ethnic background she is; I'd imagine it being Flan/Basbousa/Avocado ice cream/Ube cake...etc. could be any)
- Ben loved her dessert. Made it official that she introduces more ethnic desserts to his colonizer palate.
- Ben saw something unique in (Name): she was so funny, eccentric, talented, free spirited, and crazy but in a good way.
- It wasn't long before they'd coincidentally worked together staring in the Marvel series 'The Punisher'.
- I'd imagine (Name)'s character being the sister to Frank Castle and there is some sort of chemistry between her and Billy Russo.
- (Name) doesn't know this but Ben has actually watched her films and series.
- After meeting her for the first time, he grew curious about her work and explored her films and music, and immediately became enamored by her method of acting and her lyrics.
- Her first time to explore London, Ben is there as well and offers to show her around.
- When he took her to the Harry Potter store (Name) couldn't help but mention how he would've been perfect for a Harry Potter film:
"Ha ha not you too."
"Yes, me too. I've seen your old pictures and you would've been the perfect Sirius Black. Ugh what a wasted opportunity but too late, you're...oooold." She'd exaggeratingly say the last bit in a grim voice.
"I am not old you just happened to be born really late."
"That's what an old person would say."
- His contact name on her phone would be 'Shadow Daddy' (She just had to since his character, General Kirigan, was trending like crazy)
- It was a slow start between the two. Starting off as friends but then things between the two became serious.
-Serious how?
Having dinner together with just each other.
Visiting each other's designated trailers.
Going to London's famous bookstores and exploring great literature.
Ben and (Name) would even do a music sesh or duet some songs together.
She even got to meet his family.
He met her family as well.
- I can imagine (Name) being well versed in technology.
- Young Millennial Zs are just good to adapting to new technologies and constructing their own system units. So it's only natural that she's good at it as well.
- She's also a pro at video games. Like really good that she makes misogynistic, fascist pigs cry like little bitches.
- Like the chick has her own customized mug/tumbler that reads 'FASCIST TEARS'.
- A total badass in Call of Duty (Warzone), Overwatch, Dead by Daylight, Dying Light, Friday the 13th, League of Legends, etc. Don't mess with her.
- Ben one time heard her lay down some serious trash talk and come backs at a bunch of sexist, misogynistic 'men'. (He had spare keys to her place and found her preoccupied in her gaming room)
"Woah! Are you a gamer girl?! Send me some titty pics, bitch"
"You can't handle my melons, bitch. If you're looking for some titty action go back to sucking your mama's. Annoying ass brat."
"This game ain't for girrrllls! Go back to the kitchen and make me a fucking sandwich!"
*Soon after he said that (Name) would constantly headshot his lame ass character barely even touching her or landing a shot at her*
"What the fuck?!Nah Nah, fucking bitch is cheating!"
"Ha ha ha! You fucking suck man. I don't think this game is for you so how 'bout you go to the kitchen and make my fucking sandwich."
- Oh yeah, (Name) is a major savage when ripping into those assholes.
- She was surprised Ben found her like that and felt embarrassed. She was worried he would find it appalling with spoke... Ben was such a composed fella and her... she was basically the devil incarnate ready to erupt and drink the blood of her enemies.
- But her worries went away when Ben chuckled at the scene he had witnessed and asked if she was okay (in a nice way) She'd later explained about how she was being insulted online and it made Ben worried.
- She told him not to worry and that she handled well by kicking their ass.
- Ben's not a gamer (I think) but he was really impressed with how she put down those sexist assholes.
- He found it kind of hot.
"Well that was an...interesting reaction, ha ha ha!"
"Stop laughing! I feel so embarassed that you had to see me that way!"
"I have to admit I found it quite cute how you swore at the screen. Ha ha, you looked like an angry chihuahua. Ha ha ha!"
"Ha Ha very funny"
"Alright, I'm just teasing you. I just hope you won't get into trouble"
"Nonsense. Besides...they only try and get my account reported for 'cheating'. It's not my fault they deliberately suck at playing."
"You are really good... It almost feels unfair."
"You say that because you've never beaten me at Mario Kart to this day."
"I've been practicing whilst I was away filming. So I'd like to think now I'm close to beating you."
"Ooh ho ho. Big talk eh. I'd like to see you try. Prepare to lose...again!"
- The two also enjoyed teasing one another that it gave everyone the impression that they were couple. Heck even their parents thought there was something more between the two.
- Ben laughed it off when his parents told him and he denied saying that he was too old for her. But they thought differently.
- (Name)'s mom was rooting for them (aww bless her) and her dad well...He didn't mind Ben but that was his sweet baby girl. To him, Ben was corrupting his sweet, innocent, little 'angel' baby (Ahahaha he can't see it clearly that his daughter is basically the devil who thrives on Cyberbullying fascist gamers... Yeaahh, an 'angel' for sure but there's nothing wrong with putting down toxic gamers. The girl is basically considered a saint in the gamer girl community)
- Sure there was a bit of a large age gap between the two but his parents had no qualms against whom he dated as long they treated him well. And they believed (Name) was the right fit for him.
- Ben would also invite her to one of his recording sessions and let her listen to him sing and play his piano.
- She would also invite to him to her recording studio to witness her play and come up with new songs.
- She'd be in awe of his talent and it would not go unnoticed by Ben which just bolstered his ego and made him flustered at the same time.
"Enjoy the show?"
"You were amazing! I mean... You all were amazing." She included the rest of the musicians who played by his side.
"Thanks, I'm happy to hear that."
"I heard that you're putting a lot of focus into your music since you didn't have the time to do so?"
"Yeah. I've put it off for a while since I wasn't so sure at the time but..."
"You're doing great and I'm not just saying that as a friend. It may seem late but you've put in a lot of work and creativity into it. I'd say all these years you just had some pent up creativity storming through that head of yours."
"Thanks that means a lot. I appreciate it."
"Happy to help. Ooh now that you're a rising musician does that mean I can be one of your groupies?!"
"Ha ha ha you can be so ridiculous!"
"That's what you love about me."
"You have no idea."
- Ben doesn't understand it yet but he always looked forward to (Name)'s words of encouragement and unwavering support as he trekked through the world of music.
- Despite the age difference the two shared their worlds and experience with one another and it brought them closer and closer.

Hi! Could I request a Ben Barnes x reader story where they have been secretly dating for a long time and their relationship only gets publically found out when Ben accidentally does an interview with a lipstick mark on his face/neck 💋
white lies
Tumblr media
@/pinchofhoney, i'm the author of this poorly made edit (autocomplete interview with ben is something we all need)
i combined this request with another one, because they are meant to be together: (...) if you could write a one shot where Ben and the reader are in a really private relationship, and when I mean private like literally just them, like their close friends are the only one who knows they're together but one time they got spotted and it went trending and the reader thought they would receive backlash but turns out the people have always been rooting for them? (...)

“Hey there, I’m Ben Barnes and today I’m doing WIRED Autocomplete Interview,” Ben introduces himself with a bright smile on his lips and his eyes fixed directly on the camera, so everyone in front of the screen could feel as he was speaking specific to them.
When one of the people off-camera handed him the first question board, Ben quickly thanked them before taking a moment to look on the very well-known by internauts object. With a confident smile, he uncovered the first question and responded without hesitation. “Is Ben Barnes British? Yes, absolutely. I was born in London, England and I am 100% British, even though I spend a lot of time in the States,” he replied with a hint of amusement in his tone. “Although, I thought my accent would give it away,” he added with a chuckle before tearing off another piece of paper to reveal the next question.
“Is Ben Barnes an only child?” as he read question, he shook his hand in front of him to remove a piece of paper that had stuck to his fingers. The paper eventually fluttered to the ground, and Ben's attention returned to the camera with a grin on his face. “No, I actually have a younger brother named Jack,” he said, his eyes sparkling with joy as he recalled his sibling. “He's absolutely lovely, I miss him,” he added, nodding his head slightly.
Upon reading the next question, Ben furrowed his eyebrows, a hint of confusion flickering across his face. “Is Ben Barnes Spanish?” he raised his head to look at the camera and chuckled. “I don’t think we need to answer this question,” he said genuinely amused by the search. Without skipping a beat, he quickly moved on to the next question, and when he read it, his face lit up with a warm smile again. “Is Ben Barnes in the T-Mobile commercial? Yes!” he declared, his voice brimming with pride. He sent the camera a charming grin and added, “I, in fact, am this charming British actor,” winking at the camera and playfully imitating a line spoken in the commercial.
The quiet giggles of the women working in production behind the camera made you burst out laughing. Even though you couldn't see them, you could picture the adorable grins on their faces. Ben always knew how to work his charm, and sometimes you found yourself resenting him for it, especially when he used it against you. Both of you knew you couldn't resist his charismatic plays.
You sit on the couch, absorbed in the latest interview with Ben, which had just been posted online. You could be his girlfriend, his confidante, his partner in crime, but he never shared any behind-the-scenes secrets with you. He loved seeing your genuine reactions to his work, no matter what they were. It was just one of the many things that made him so endearing to you.
As the interview continued to play on your phone, you heard the familiar sound of Ben's footsteps entering the living room. You looked up to see him walking towards you, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He knew what you were watching and he couldn't resist the opportunity to tease you. He leaned over the back of the couch, his face hovering just inches from yours.
“What are you watching, love?” he asked, his voice full of amusement.
You rolled your eyes at his playful tone, but couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corners of your lips. “Just the latest interview with my favorite actor,” you replied, pretending to be unimpressed.
Ben grinned and leaned in closer, his breath tickling your cheek. “Oh, really? And who might that be?” he asked, his voice dripping with mock curiosity.
You shook your head, trying to hide your smile. “I don't know, some Benjamin? He reminds me of my favorite character from Disney animation,” you teased back.
Ben chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to your temple before settling onto the couch next to you. You leaned into him, enjoying his familiar scent and the feeling of his arm draped around your shoulder. The interview continued to play, but you found yourself more distracted by Ben's presence than the questions being asked. You couldn't help but steal glances at him, admiring the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled and the way his hair looked even messier than always. You could hardly believe that the charming and witty actor was your boyfriend.
“Wait,” he suddenly spoke up, snapping you out of your thoughts about him. He shifted his curious gaze to you after he stopped the video, his eyes a warm shade of brown that you could get lost in for hours. “Which character?” he asked, his voice filled with interest.
You furrowed your eyebrows completely off guard. It took you a moment to realize that he was referring to the words spoken as a joke. “Oh,” you said, your eyebrows raising slightly as your brain processed his question. “Eugene Fitzherbert.”
“Eugene?” Ben repeated, looking even more confused than you were a seconds earlier.
“Oh my goodness,” you muttered pretending to be annoyed. “Flynn Rider, does that tell you anything? Girl with magic hair? An evil stepmother keeping her in a tower?” you shifted away from him, settling into a cross-legged position as you faced him. “I've got a dream, I've got a dream. I just wanna see the floating lanterns gleam,” you sang, earning a chuckle from Ben.
“Okay, Rapunzel. Right,” he said, still laughing as he watched you. “I should have known. You’ve watched that movie, what, a hundred times?”
You rolled your eyes playfully, but couldn't help the fond smile that crept onto your face. "Only a hundred? I thought you knew me better than that," you teased, leaning back into his side.
Ben shook his head, still grinning from ear to ear at your playful banter. He reached for your phone and resumed the interview with a smile. You watched him intently as he answered all this questions, his passion for storytelling evident in every word he said. But suddenly your attention was diverted by something you hadn't noticed before – something that could potentially create a stir online.
Your hand flew to your mouth in surprise. “Oh no,” you gasped. “Is this what I'm thinking about?”
Without a second thought, you took the phone out of Ben's hands and held it up to your face, squinting to make sure you weren't mistaken.
Ben chuckled at your sudden change in behavior. “What are you looking at? I know I'm devilishly handsome, but you can look at me in person, you know?” he joked, but as he noticed your furrowed brow and lack of response, his expression turned serious.
“What is that?”
You turned your head, shifting your gaze to Ben, all the while holding your hand to your mouth with eyes wide open. “The reddish mark on your neck.”
Hearing your words, Ben's eyes widened and he almost snatched the phone from your hands to get a better look. At the same moment, a question about whether Ben had a partner appeared on the white board, to which he firmly denied and quickly moved on to the next topic. Hearing this coincidence, you burst out laughing uncontrollably, but Ben didn't find it as amusing since you had managed to keep your relationship a secret for over a year. Only your closest friends and family knew about it, and no one else. You had made the mutual decision to keep your relationship under wraps. It had started as a way to avoid unwanted attention and speculation from the media and fans, but as time went on, it had become a way to protect your relationship and keep it sacred. It had been a source of stress and anxiety at times, but it had also brought you closer together, sharing this special secret that only the two of you knew.
The situation was too ironic, and you couldn't stop laughing. The timing of the question about Ben's relationship status coming up at the same moment you noticed the mark on his neck was too much of a coincidence to ignore. Finally getting a hold of yourself, you asked, “What do we do now?” Noticing the look on Ben's face, you could tell he was worried.
He tried to reassure himself by saying, “This mark is barely noticeable. No one should be able to spot it, right?”
But you couldn't offer him any comfort, and you just helplessly shrugged your shoulders. You had to be honest with yourself, the idea of it being exposed was kind of terrifying. You knew that if you made it public, it would change everything. People would start scrutinizing every little detail of your lives, and the media could potentially spin it in a negative light. Being a regular person, you valued your privacy and didn't want to deal with the hassle of being in the public eye. Besides, what if his fans didn't like you? The thought of reading negative comments about yourself on all your social media profiles was daunting. You knew what kind of venom some users were capable of spewing, and you didn't want to expose yourself to that kind of negativity.
You quickly navigated to the comments section below the interview, frantically searching through the fan reactions, praying that no one had caught a glimpse of the conspicuous reddish mark on Ben's neck that you had left there before he went to work. Why the makeup artists had failed to conceal the mark before filming? They should have noticed it.
As you scrolled through the fan reactions in the comments section, you couldn't help but groan when you came across the first comment that mentioned the hint of your lipstick with an exact time reference. “03:31 BENJABIN THOMAS BARNES WHAT IS THAT MARK ON YOUR NECK?” you read aloud, and looked uncertainly at Ben, who was also staring at the phone screen. Your fears had come true.
As you continued to read, you noticed that there were other comments that also mentioned the mark. Ben pointed his finger at one of them too, confirming your suspicions. The situation was getting out of hand.
But amidst all the serious comments, there were a few that made you chuckle. “Someone wrote all men do is lie,” you laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
“I don’t lie,” he rolled his eyes, biting his lower lip to keep himself from laughing along with you.
“You do and this video is the proof of that,” when you said these words, you suddenly realized something. You straightened up, opening your mouth in surprise, and looked at Ben with feigned indignation. “Are you the one who ate the last cookies in the package? Don’t lie to me,” you said clearly, pointing an accusing finger at him with a serious face, wandering your eyes over his face.
“I-” Ben began in a defensive tone, and you watched the amusement that started painting on his face. “Okay, fine, it was me,” he admitted, laughing and defusing the tension. “But let’s not start a cookie war right now.”
As you both sat there in silence, you reached over to lock the screen of the phone, effectively ending the interview. With the device now resting on the table in front of you, the weight of what had just occurred began to sink in.
After a few moments, you tentatively broke the silence with a suggestion. “Why don't we just pretend that nothing happened?” you offered, hoping that Ben would agree. It was clear to both of you that publicly announcing your relationship was not an option, and this seemed like the best way to handle the situation.
Ben looked relieved at your suggestion and nodded in agreement. “Yeah, that's probably for the best,” he said, his voice sounding a little strained. You could tell that he was still processing everything that had just happened.
You sat in silence for a few more minutes, both lost in your thoughts. Finally, you decided to break the tension with a joke. “Well, at least now we know that your fans are Sherlock-level detectives,” you quipped, trying to lighten the mood.
Ben chuckled, a small smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, I guess I underestimated their sleuthing skills,” he replied, his voice sounding a little more relaxed now.
As the weeks passed after the incident during the interview, you and Ben did your best to keep your relationship under wraps. You avoided going out in public together, and when you did, you made sure to keep a low profile. But on this particular day, you decided to grab lunch at a small café near the neighborhood he lived in. You were enjoying your meal and chatting with Ben when a fan spotted him and shyly approached your table.
“Excuse me, are you Ben Barnes?” the fan asked excited, holding out their phone for a photo.
Ben smiled politely and put his coffee down on the table before agreeing to take a photo with her. She handed you her phone, her hands shaking with excitement, and asked if you could take the picture for her. You accepted with a soft smile and positioned yourself to take a few shots while Ben stood up to pose with the fan.
After the photos were taken, she couldn’t contain her happiness and gushed, “I’m such a big fan! I loved you in The Punisher.”
Ben chuckled and responded with a grateful tone, “Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
The fan asked him a few more questions about his upcoming projects and music, and you observed with admiration as Ben responded with a smile and listened intently to her every word. He never gave the impression that he was bothered or uninterested, even if the topic wasn't something he was particularly fond of. You thought how much his fans meant to him and how he treated each of them with respect and kindness, making them feel important and appreciated.
As the fan walked away from your table, beaming with excitement, you couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy at her experience. It was amazing to see how Ben handled his fans with such kindness and charm, making each and every one of them feel special, and you were sure that the girl would cherish this encounter for a long time. Despite having witnessed this before, you were still impressed every time by his sincere connection with his fans.
When Ben sat back down, you could tell that he was still in a good mood. “She was sweet,” he said, taking a sip of his coffee. “It's always nice to meet fans, you know?”
You smiled at him, feeling warm in your heart. “You're amazing with your fans, Ben. I don't know how you do it.”
He shrugged, looking down at his coffee cup. “I don't know, I just try to make them feel appreciated. They're the reason I get to do what I love, after all.”
The two of you continued chatting for a while longer, discussing the least important things, enjoying each other's presence and having lunch together. But as you were about to leave the café, you noticed something strange happening on your phone.
“What's going on?” Ben asked, noticing the look of concern on your face.
You showed him your Twitter feed, where several notifications were popping up, all of them about the photo you had just taken of Ben with the fan, praising Ben's good looks and speculating about your identity. “Looks like we're trending on Twitter,” you said not sure how to react.
You glanced at your phone's screen once again and read the tweet that had caught your attention. “JUST SAW BEN BARNES OUT FOR LUNCH WITH HIS MYSTERY GIRLFRIEND! I have no idea who she is but THEY LOOK SO CUTE TOGETHER! Screaming crying throwing up #thatshouldbeme”.
Ben let out a small laugh as he read the tweet on his phone. "Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag," he said, glancing up at you.
The tweet had already been retweeted hundreds of times and you could feel your anxiety rising as you thought about what this might mean for you. For your relationship.
“What do we do now?” you asked him, your voice trembling slightly.
Ben took a moment to think before responding. “I think we should just embrace it,” he said, his voice calm and reassuring. “We can't change the fact that people know now, so there's no point in trying to hide it. And honestly, I’ve been thinking about it. I don't want to have to pretend that I'm not dating the most amazing person in the world,” he added, reaching across the table to take your hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.
Despite the less-than-ideal situation, his unwavering support and affection provided you with a sense of comfort, as though everything would be alright.
As you and Ben exited the café, you couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, even though it seemed like everyone was just minding their own business. Some pedestrians recognized Ben and pointed discreetly, while others tried to catch a glimpse of you, the mysterious girlfriend. The paparazzi were nowhere in sight, but you knew it was only a matter of time before they caught on. You wondered how you would handle the inevitable intrusion into your private life, but for now, you were content to hold Ben's hand and enjoy the moment.
As you walked down the street, Ben leaned in close to whisper in your ear. “Don't worry, we'll figure this out together,” he said, his breath warm against your skin. You turned to him and smiled, feeling grateful to have him by your side.

Hide & Seek
Tumblr media
Summary: You want to play a little game with your boyfriend.
Warnings: Smut, language, 18+ minors do not enter, dom/sub, use of calling Billy “sir”
Tumblr media
You couldn’t help but giggle while you hid under the big four post bed that you and Billy shared. You wanted to play a little game of hide and seek with Billy. You loved role playing and messing around when it came to sexy times with your hunk of a man.
Today, you decided to hide underneath the bed and wait for him to come strolling in from a long day at work. Your panties get more and more soaked the more you imagine the things you would do to him and the things you want him to do to you. You are madly in love with Billy and he feels the same about you.
Suddenly, you’re ripped from your daydreaming when you hear the front door open and shut. Billy walks in and peels off his black coat and hangs it on the coat hook by the front door. He can tell that it’s eerily quiet.
“Babe?” He calls out.
Silence is all he is met with, but he knows you’re home. Your stuff is here, so he knows now that you want to play. He smiles.
You cover your mouth and giggle as silently as possible. You can hear him walking around, but suddenly, complete and utter silence. Then, he grabs you by your ankles and pulls you out from under the bed. You let out a squeal.
You laugh and turn over on your back to look up at him, “Hi Billy.”
Without saying a word, he leans down and picks you up off the floor. He doesn’t give you a chance to move or say anything before he’s laying deep passionate kisses on you and taking your clothes off. You don’t fight him and just let him do whatever he wants to you. You’re his.
“Lay down.” He says sternly as he leans back from a kiss.
“Yes, sir.” You say with a menacing grin.
Slowly, you laid down on your back and Billy quickly undressed himself. You didn’t have much time before he was on top of you because once you called him sir, it was on. It was like fuel being poured onto a fire.
You wrapped your legs around Billy as he lay on top of you leaning on his forearms that lay on either side of your head. He begins to give you soft gentle kisses on your mouth. You moan into his kisses and run your fingers through his thick dark hair.
He begins kissing his way down your neck, down your stomach, and then without warning, he’s eating your wet pussy. You toss your head back in pleasure and grab ahold of the bed sheets for dear life. It doesn’t take you long before you’re cumming in his mouth. Billy knows exactly how to get you off within minutes, which makes him even harder and his cock is aching to fuck you.
He gets up on his knees between your legs and positions his hard cock dripping with precum against your soaked entrance. As he pushes inside you, you let out a loud moan from how good he feels filling you completely. As he fucks you, you scratch red marks and welts into his back.
“Faster! Ah! Harder Billy!” You scream out as you begin to inch closer and closer to orgasming once more.
“Fuck baby!” Billy grunts as he thrusts hard and fast into your cunt.
Billy reaches down and presses his thumb to your clit and begins to rub circles. Almost immediately, you're thrown over the edge. You clench down and cum hard around his cock.
“Billy!”
“That’s it baby, there’s my good girl.” He says continuing his pace until he cums and fills you up.
After he finishes, he rides out the high for a few more moments before he falls to the bed beside you. He pulls you to his chest and kisses your forehead. You look up at him breathing heavily and smile.
“I love you Billy.”
“Love you too beautiful.”

PLEASEEEE CONTINUE A CHAPTER OF MINE WITH BEN BARNESSS PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE IM BEGGING YOUUUUU
Tumblr media
Surrender - Billy Russo x f!reader
Sequel to Mine which you can read here
Warnings: semi-public sex, unprotected sex, no review
author's note: giving the people what they want
The walk back home from the party was tense. You couldn’t shake off the weight of the words that had come out from Billy. The revelation of his feelings for you had affected you in ways you hadn’t expected.
When you reached your apartment, neither of you said a word. Instead, you opened the door and shrugged off your coat, handing it to Billy so he could hang it on one of the hooks on the wall. Still in silence, you crossed the room and opened the doors to the balcony, stepping outside and letting the soothing night breeze brush against your skin, momentarily relieving the heat that had built up inside you throughout the night. Lost in your thoughts, you failed to notice when Billy approached you, his voice being the first to break the silence.
“Mind if I join you?” he asked, his voice light.
Startled, you turn to face him, momentarily at a loss for words. He wore an unreadable expression, his features concealed by the shadows of the night.
“Of course,” you whispered, unsure if your voice was strong enough to speak normally.
The two of you sat silently for a moment, the faint sounds of cars driving below and dull city noise from outside.
“I think we need to figure out what we want,” Billy started.
Time seemed to stand still at that moment, the air heavy with tension. Billy’s intense gaze bore into your eyes, his black eyes reflecting a dark storm. There was a fire within him, a volatile mixture of emotions threatening to consume both of you. But behind that facade, you saw a vulnerability you’d never noticed.
You reached out and placed a hand on his, the connection sparking an electric current that pulsed between you. “I agree,” you whispered, your voice filled with apprehension, “We can’t ignore what’s between us anymore.”
Billy’s gaze softened, the storm within his eyes receding to reveal a glimmer of hope. Slowly, he closed the distance between you, his hand caressing your cheek with a tenderness you hadn’t expected. The touch sent shivers down your spine, igniting a fire deep within your core.
“I don’t know what came over me tonight, y/n. I think- Seeing you with Matt I-, It drove me crazy. I wanted you all to myself. I’m drawn to you; I have been since we met. Every night we’re together, I can’t get enough.”
Your heart swelled at his words, his vulnerability taking your breath away. At that moment, you realized the depth of his emotions, the intensity of his desire. It was a revelation that left you trembling, yearning for more.
“Billy,” you whispered, your voice barely audible, “I feel the same way. Every minute without you feels like a part of me is missing. You complete me, Bill. Your hands, your eyes, your touch. I’m in love with every part of you.”
He leaned closer, his lips brushing against yours in a featherlight kiss that ignited a fire within you. It was an act of surrender, a melody of two souls finally finding harmony. The world faded away, and you were consumed by the intensity of your shared connection.
At that moment, time ceased to exist. Your bodies intertwined, moving with a rhythm that defied words. It was a language only you two understood, a symphony of desire and passion that painted the night with the colors of ecstasy.
Billy’s kiss got more insistent, needier. His hands had begun to slip underneath the hem of your skirt, tracing dangerously close to the wet spot in your underwear that had reappeared when he started touching you. Your skin felt like it was on fire, your breaths were short, and Billy’s beard left a slight burn while he bit at the skin on your neck. Your breathing quickened, and your head turned to reveal a nearly empty street. Suddenly, you were aware that you were still technically in public, and anyone who looked at your building would receive an eyeful from you and Billy.
“Bill-hey, maybe we shouldn’t do this here-”
“Tell me to stop,” he murmured against your skin. His lips had begun to travel down your body, leaving fresh marks on your chest and neck. He pushed the material around your thighs as he met your waist, letting it bunch above your hips, allowing better access to where he wanted. He could see the effect he had on you for the first time. The wet spot on your underwear had gradually grown, making Billy smirk at how easily he could mold you into putty whenever he touched you.
“Please, Billy,” you whined. Your fingers brushed through Billy’s hair, trying to pull him where you wanted him the most. Your neediness made him chuckle, his eyes staring up at you while he placed a soft kiss and licked your clothed clit.
His nails scratched your skin as he pulled your almost entirely soaked-through panties down your legs. Billy gathered some of the wetness that had begun to drip onto your thighs with his index finger, pushing it into you and grazing over your clit. Your head fell back as he slid his tongue into your entrance, spreading it flat before dragging it up, driving you crazy.
The moans he was letting out vibrated through your entire body, focusing on your clit as he sucked it between his teeth, using one hand to expertly curl his fingers into your sopping entrance while the other held onto your thigh to keep you still.
Your whines became short and breathy as you tried to muffle them, hands tightly gripping the railing to keep yourself from falling over. You finally felt a sweet release as it poured out of you, allowing Billy to drink it. You were sure that if you let go of the railing, your legs would completely give out underneath you, so you decided it was best to keep your grip on it.
Once Billy decided he had sufficiently cleaned you up, he stood up, towering over you, his eyes black and hooded, full of lust. He kissed you again, this time tenderly, sweetly. You could taste yourself on him when he slipped his tongue into your mouth, delicately exploring yours as if it were new terrain for him. You could feel his bulge through his pants. Deciding to be bold, you slipped your hand under his waistband, smiling when you heard him make a strained moan. He was painfully hard as he stared at you, silently begging you for more.
You slipped his pants down just enough to pull his length out, your soft palm massaging the precum out of his cock. You released your grip on the balcony railing, moving it to rest on his shoulder, pulling him close to you. His hands were stationed on your waist, his sight focused on the dirty image of his cock diving into you. Your moans synchronized when he was entirely inside you, allowing you to feel every vein and twitch of his cock, a luxury you weren’t awarded earlier in the night when he roughly pounded into you in a stranger’s bedroom.
This was different, something you hadn’t experienced with him. It was full of love. Every touch, kiss, and heavy breath showed you there was more to Billy than you thought.
These thoughts faded when you felt yourself on the brink of orgasm again. Billy’s sloppy thrusts and tight grip on you showed you he was close too but insisted on holding off until you came first. Relief wasn’t far, though, as you came almost instantly when his cock touched your g-spot perfectly, causing every hair on your body to stand up and warmth to wash over you like warm water. He finished soon after you, his hips slightly stuttering before fully pushing himself in you, tight ropes of cum filling your belly.
As your breathing regulated, you looked up at him, your chests becoming in sync. His eyes, once filled with the intensity of passion, now held a new warmth, a tenderness that wasn’t there mere minutes ago. The streets were hushed, the echoes of your shared ecstasy slowly dissipating.
You traced a finger along his jawline, marveling at the subtle changes in his expression. The rugged exterior he often wore was gone. Instead, it was as if the layers of his past were shed, revealing a man desperate for connection.
“I never expected this,” he whispered, his voice laced with awe. “To feel this connected to another person again.”
You smiled, your heart brimming with affection. You couldn’t find any words that would describe your love, but you figured you would have time to show him.
As you sat there, bodies still intertwined, you knew that this moment was the beginning of a new chapter. You nestled closer to Billy, your bodies finding comfort in each other’s embrace. In the serenity of that shared embrace, you knew that whatever lay ahead, you would be doing together.

Sneaky Link (Billy Russo x Castle!Reader)
MASTERLIST // TAG LIST REQUEST
A/N: Nonnie, the way i RAN to my computer to write this. You’re a genius! Here you go!
Request: Oke so hear me out please...So, Billy Russo and Frank Castle's sister in a backstreet relationship. I know i know it's lame, but i can't imagine Frank's face when he finds out that his sweet-not-so-innocent sister fuck his asshole-but-charming best friend.. Hope you like that idea <3
Tumblr media
Summary: Billy finds himself in trouble with his best friend, Frank, when Frank finds out he’s been messing around with you, Frank’s sweet and innocent sister.
(Warnings: Smut at the beginning, oral (fem receiving), reader is called good girl, cursing (lots of cursing), Frank and Billy get into a physical fight with each other (lol), fluffy Billy, not canon obv)
“Oh fuck, Billy. Just like that. Don’t stop.” You moaned, arching your back. Billy’s tongue was currently making you see stars for the third time that evening. The soft comforter on your bed was soaked in sweat, and Billy wasn’t letting up anytime soon.
“You like that, baby?” He mumbled, circling his tongue around your clit. “Gonna cum again, princess?”
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, yes.” You breathed, squeezing your eyes shut. Your legs were shaking uncontrollably on Billy’s shoulders, who was somehow smirking and still managing to inch you closer to your release.
“You’ve been such a good girl today. Cum on my tongue, princess.”
The moan you let out was unholy as Billy focuses all of his attention on your clit, sucking and licking in perfect tandem. Your body seized as your third orgasm of the day rushes through you, a spark of fiery lust traveling down your spine. Billy doesn’t let up until you physically shove his shoulders away, heart pounding and ears ringing.
You gulp in air, turning to lay on your stomach. Billy’s soft hands run up and down your spine in soothing strokes.
“You did so good, baby.” He mumbled into your ear, planting a soft kiss on the back of your neck.
“You are going to be the death of me, Billy Russo.” You responded, resting your cheek on your folded hands.
“You love it.” He scoffed, chuckling.
You push yourself towards the edge of the bed, searching for your underwear in the trail of clothes that started at your front door and ended by your bed.
“Where are you going?” Billy made himself comfortable, stretching out on the sheets and resting his hands behind his head.
“I told Frank I’d meet him for drinks. That’s where I was headed when you knocked on the door. And now,” you check the time on your phone, “I’m very late. If you leave before I get back, lock the door behind you.”
Billy’s frown is evident as you toss articles of clothing around trying to find your dress. You knew bringing up Frank would cause some anxiety, but you really were going to meet Frank.
“When are we going to tell him?” Billy asked, pointing out the dress that he’d carefully laid on the armchair before ravishing you.
Billy and you had been messing around for months now, all behind Frank’s back. It wasn’t that you were ashamed of Billy, but Frank had always been protective of you, and you were sure he’d be less than thrilled to find out his best friend had been fucking his little sister for the better half of a year.
It hadn’t started on purpose, you reasoned. Frank, you, and Billy had been drinking at a bar when Karen had called Frank, frantic about something. Frank had hurried off, leaving you and Billy to your own devices. Three shots later and Billy was pulling your top off in the bar bathroom.
After that encounter, you’d avoided spending any time alone with Billy, but Billy’s charming and handsome and so good at kissing, so your resolve only lasted a few days. Since then, Billy and you had been sneaking around Frank’s back, stealing glances at each other when Frank wasn’t looking, and sneaking kisses when you could get away with it.
It started as a casual hook-up, but it certainly didn’t develop as one. You and Billy were together. You cooked dinner for each other, went out on dates when you knew Frank wouldn’t stumble across the two of you, and spent most of your free time at each other’s apartments. He brought you flowers every week and referred to you as his girlfriend to his employees at work. You’d even gone to the Anvil Christmas party, albeit as Frank’s plus one, but you were still there, celebrating Billy’s accomplishments with him.
“Did you hear me? When are we going to tell him?” Billy’s voice brought you out of your thoughts.
“I don’t know.” You responded honestly. At this point, no matter how you did it, Frank would be upset that you’d hidden it from him.
“Do you not want to be with me?” Billy rarely sounded insecure, but in that moment, you could feel the insecurities rolling off him. You moved towards the bed, cupping Billy’s cheeks and kissing his nose.
“Of course, I want to be with you, Billy. You’re everything to me. I just don’t know how to explain that to Frank without him trying to murder you. And then me.” you added, pressing your forehead to his.
“We should tell him soon. I don’t like hiding things from him. We’ve always trusted each other.”
“I know. We’ll tell him soon. I promise, okay? But I really have to go.”
Billy nodded, kissing your cheek and standing.
A knock at the door had both of you on alert. You moved to answer it, but Billy stopped you and held out his shirt in his hands. You looked down and realized you were still naked, minus the underwear. A sheepish grin crossed your face as you threw the shirt on.
You swung open the door, ready to tell whatever solicitor that you weren’t interested, but you stopped short when you exchanged glances with your brother, who looked rightfully concerned.
“Where the hell have you been? I waited for you for over an hour, and then you wouldn’t respond to my texts or calls, so I thought ‘Oh she must be getting murdered. Then you open the door with this ridiculous smile on your face, like you aren’t incredibly late for something!”
Frank stormed through the door, and before you can respond, takes in the fact that Billy is standing in your bedroom doorway, shirtless and guilt-ridden. Frank turned and looked at you, glancing down at your shirt and then back at Billy, who is holding his hands up innocently. Frank’s face is stoic, but you can see the rage churning in his eyes. The apartment is so quiet you can hear Billy’s breathing from across the room. The calm before the storm, apparently.
“’the fucks wrong with you, you bastard?” Frank charged at Billy, who only lifted his hands higher to try and push Frank away from him.
“Frank, stop!” You yelped, trying to figure out how to stop Frank from killing your boyfriend. Frank slammed Billy into the wall, punching Billy in the jaw.
“It’s not what you think. I’m not just-”
“Just what? Fucking my sister? I thought you were different, Billy. What the fuck is wrong with you?” Frank’s fist connected with Billy’s face again, and you let out a yelp as blood starts to trickle down Billy’s face.
“Frank, stop! It’s not like that! He’s my boyfriend, Frank! We’re not just messing around!”
Frank freezes, mid-swing, and turns to look at you. He’s very clearly confused at your confession.
“Your boyfriend?” Frank drops Billy, who slumps against the wall and lets out a wheeze. “What do you mean, your boyfriend?”
“I mean, he’s my boyfriend, Frank. We’re together. And we should’ve told you, but I knew you’d react just like this, like a fucking psycho, so I didn’t say anything. And I made Billy promise he wouldn’t say anything to you. If you’re going to be mad at someone, be mad at me.”
“You’re together?” Frank looks between you and Billy, shaking his head. “Like together, together?”
“Yes, now can I please go put some pants on and trust that you’re not going to pummel his face in?”
“I need to talk to you.” Frank points at Billy, who stands and wipes the blood from his face.
“Yeah, alright.” He responds, nodding.
When you make it to your bedroom, you can hear the muffled sound of Frank speaking. He still sounded angry, but at least he wasn’t actively trying to punch Billy anymore. You searched through your drawers until you found an old pair of sweatpants, slowly pulling them on. You wanted to give Billy and Frank enough time to talk it out, but you didn’t want to leave them alone for too much longer.
You creeped through the doorway, where you found Billy sitting on your couch with an ice pack pressed into his jaw, and Frank, searching through your fridge.
“Is everything...good now?” You asked tentatively, looking back and forth between your boyfriend and your brother.
“Yeah, but I don’t wanna see any of that lovey-dovey shit. I’m not happy about it, but I can’t stop you from being an idiot.” Frank responded, pulling three beers out of the fridge and setting them on the counter.
Billy gave you a small smile, but grimaced when pain shot through his jaw again. You could already see the bruises blooming on his face.
“Okay...do you want to watch a movie?” You asked, trying to play it off like this was a totally normal night.
Frank handed you a beer, then handed Billy one.
“Sure, princ- Um.” Billy cleared his throat and said your name. Frank rolled his eyes and sat down next to Billy, which left you the seat next to Frank. You tried not to roll your eyes at Frank’s choice of couch cushions and flopped down next to him. It was going to be a long movie.
When Frank finally left hours later, he sent you a pointed look on his way out the door. He had barely looked at you or Billy the entire night, but you considered it progress anyways. It was better than physically punching each other.
Billy had stretched his legs out on the couch, propping his head up on a pillow.
“So that went...well?” He questioned, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Are you okay? I’m so sorry.” You rushed to his side, trying to get a better look at the bruises forming on Billy’s face.
Billy waved a hand and shrugged. “If all I got was a couple licks to the face, I call that a win. He’ll come around.”
Frank did eventually come around, but he certainly took his time. For the first month after his discovery, he wedged himself inbetween you and Billy as often as he could. Whether it be on the subway, in a bar stool, or at your house, Frank always managed to separate the two of you. It was frustrating, but Billy assured you that he would take the time he needed to get over it and come around.
When Billy took your hand to pull you out of the way of a fast-approaching cab one night, Frank eyed your intertwined hands, and then looked away, pretending not to notice it. You squeezed Billy’s hand in celebration but didn’t say a word. The first time Billy kissed you in front of Frank, he had gotten an emergency call from work and had to rush out of the bar you were sitting in. He had planted a kiss on your lips without thinking about the present company and bolted out the door, leaving you with a very red face.
Frank had taken a sip of his beer and continued the conversation you were having before Billy’s departure. The small victories were few and far between, but you and Billy were patient.
Finally, what felt like months later, Frank made a joke about Billy being your boyfriend, and you felt like you could finally relax. Billy clearly made you happy, so Frank got over it. Later that night, you were wrapped in Billy’s arms in your bed, half-asleep and listening to Billy’s voice as he read from your favorite book.
“You know,” Billy mumbled to your sleeping form, “I hope Frank doesn’t react the same way when I ask you to marry me.”
He chuckled as you snuggled into his chest, unconscious to the world around you. You and Billy hadn’t spoken about marriage, but he had clear intentions with you. He wasn’t going to let you get away.
He leaned over and clicked the lamp off, sending the room into complete darkness.
“Goodnight, my love.” He sighed, kissing your hair. “I can’t wait to say that to you for the rest of our lives.”

Whenever you're ready
Summary: Silence spells only work, when the curtains are completely closed.
Word count: 530
Warnings: dom/sub relationship, mommy!kink, crying, use of (y/n)
Tumblr media
A small paper bird landed on Remus' open book, unfolding as soon as it landed.
"This has been going on for over an hour now!" it said in James' handwriting.
Remus sighed and reached for his quill. "Let him have that little happiness. It's Christmas next week. You know how he hates that." He wrote on the parchment.
The ink faded and reappeared on Jaime's counterpart. "Besides, you don't have to act up. Like you and Lilly have never done it in this room before."
Promptly came the reply. "WE at least close the curtains RIGHT so no one can hear us." Remus glanced over at James' bed and saw him staring at him with an indignant expression. He had to hold on hard not to laugh.
It was a mystery to him how Peter could sleep through the whole spectacle, but hoped it would stay that way.
He turned back to the parchment and wrote. "If you interrupt them now, it will be insanely embarrassing for (y/n) and we might even ruin it for Padfoot then. He really likes her man. Ears closed and through." He saw James sigh quietly, but slump his shoulders in surrender.
Sirius and (y/n) had been together since the end of last year. She was quiet and seemed to ground him somewhat. He even ate greens since he knew her. She was truly one of a kind.
Remus was happy for him. It wasn't the first time anyone had sex behind closed curtains and under a silent spell in this room. Only, as James said, the curtains were otherwise completely closed, so the spell could work, but the blanket had parted the heavy red fabric a little, so they were listening to the sinphony of Sirius' moans. Remus could have guessed that the boy couldn't even keep his mouth shut while doing this. (Y/n) didn't make it easy for him either, though. For over an hour, she kept teasing him until he just whimpered, only to stop shortly befor he came.
Remus was about to turn to the next page when the wordless moaning was interrupted by one word.
"Mommy!" whimpered Sirius. James and Remus looked at each other abruptly. "Good boy." chimed (y/n)'s sighed retort. "Please." "Please what?" An exhilarated giggle was heard. "Words Siri." "Please let me come. Please. Please. Please. Mommy. Please. I was good. I'm a good boy. Please. Mommy. Mommy." "Shhh. Such a good boy to ask so sweetly. You may, whenever you're ready."
It wasn't even 10 seconds before there was an almost pathetic whimper, punctuated by rapid breathing. "Good. Come here." A sob was heard. "It's all right. I'm here. I'm holding you. Shhh. You were so good." "Thank you Mommy." There was only heavy breathing for a long time.
"Am I your good boy?" whispered Sirius. "You're the best boy I could ask for." Even Remus feels comfortably warm at that soft voice.
Another sob. "I don't want to go there." "I know." "I want to stay with you." "Look at me... You can come whenever you're ready." "Mommy." "Yes. Mommy is always there for you, always loves you, flaws and all."

****

But when you are asked to take care of the theatre club with the colleague that you really can’t get along with, you realize that everything can still get ten times more complicated in your life. And when you start actually liking Professor Barnes, the troubles only grow exponentially…
Word Count: 2327
Masterlist for the series – Ben Barnes’ Masterlist – Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Daniel looked up from his music sheet and blinked a couple of times, which only made you laugh.
Ben was being obvious again. It was a miracle that he had not called you ‘darling’ yet, you had noticed the way it had almost slipped a couple of times, but he had managed to hold it back. Still, with physical touch as his love language, it was difficult to be in the same room as you without touching you. And being seated next to you for an hour and not being able to reach out was actual torture.
Ben was glancing over at your hand so much, people were starting to notice, like Daniel over there, sitting opposite you. He noticed as well the way Ben tightened his hold on his pen to refrain his urge to simply reach out and touch you. You moved your hand away, earning a blush from Ben as he seemed to notice his own behaviour. And Daniel refrained a laugh.
God, this was a disaster… you would never be able to hide your relationship at work, this was terrible…
“So, how are we handling ‘Roxanne’?” Nathaniel asked, and it was your turn to notice how obvious he and Daniel were at stealing glances.
You couldn’t help but draw the comparison between you and Ben. Was that really how you were together?
There was a lot to be discussed, as always at the end of a session for the theatre club. February had arrived, and with its snow and bitter cold came the realisation that a good chunk of the year had passed already. And you had a lot left to do.
Roberta and Giselle, especially, seemed to start getting stressed because of the timelines to be met. You had started planning repetitions with the choir and the band affiliated to the university, and you were all anxious to make them all waste their time on your behalf.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be ready!” you reassured the group, but Ben didn’t say a thing.
“Ben doesn’t seem to agree.”
“We’ll have to be fine. Besides, these are rehearsals. Rehearsals are here so that we can all make a lot of mistakes while no one is watching.”
Despite his soft words, you could recognise a tinge of worry.
“That’s because he’s the pessimist in this team, and his job is to worry about every tiny thing that could possibly go wrong, while the rest of us have fun!” you answered in a grin, making everyone laugh, the air clearing again.
“Someone has to be responsible in this bunch…” Ben mumbled in faked annoyance, and you couldn’t help the tenderness that softened your gaze.
“A true worrier. Overthinker and too organized for his own good.”
“At least, I’m not a tidal wave of pure chaos.”
“The rules of physics have proclaimed that chaos always grows, no matter what you do. I’ve simply decided to stop fighting and go with the flow,” you fought back playfully, adding a hand-gesture to mark your point.
He was the first to break, unable to refrain a chuckle any longer, and you soon joined him.
“Well, as long as you stop messing my own stuff…”
You raised some surprised eyebrows.
“I do beg your pardon?”
“We should stop making our meetings for the club in my office, you always mess up my desk.”
You rolled your eyes, although a playful smile was tugging at your lips.
“Oh, poor Ben. I’ve displaced your red pen from its designated spot.”
It was his time to roll his eyes, but he bit his tongue and didn’t reply. You wondered why.
You planned out the rest of the month, giving everyone their goals and missions for the upcoming weeks. All the songs were integrated in the structure of the play now, but a few scenes needed to be rewritten, and you had not clearly worked on placement on stage yet, at least not for all of the songs or scenes. Costumes, decors, instrumentals… all of this was still to be planned too.
A lot of work to be accomplished, and yet, the students were still thrilled by the whole adventure. If they were sometimes worried, they were still highly motivated, and as soon as they got to play, they were excited and happy. It was a relief to find them all so enthusiastic still, you reckoned that you would have struggled with such a workload if it weren’t for the fun you were having with the group. And the fact that your boyfriend was participating didn’t hurt either.
As your students hurried outside the room to join their classes for the afternoon, Ben and you lingered for a while, finishing up planning and re-reading some scenes to make sure the dialogues were good to go. And as you were alone, Ben could finally reach for you and hold your hand in his. You couldn’t refrain a smile as he did.
“Okay! Done!” he proclaimed, closing his laptop and rubbing the edge of his nose. “I’m not working on that for the rest of the week.”
“Do you think we’ll be ready for May?”
He heaved a worried sigh.
“I don’t know, to be honest. It’s much harder than a regular play. But… as I’m the pessimistic one in this relationship…”
You giggled, leaning against his arm.
“You truly are!”
“A worrier, that’s what I am,” he nodded, but his voice lacked the playfulness it had harboured seconds ago, and you frowned at the sound.
“Hey… we’re in this together. It’ll be just fine…”
“Yeah… no… that’s…” he heaved a heavy sigh before speaking once more. “I’m not worried about the club. Not too much, at least. I’m… I’m worried about Saturday.”
“Oh…”
You looked down, averting your eyes, but you rested your head on his shoulder all the same, your thumb tracing a line across his knuckles. You had decided to tell Sally about the two of you this weekend. You would have been lying if you had pretended not to be worried about her reaction. Although there was no reason for her not to take the news well. After all, she loved Ben.
“I’m sure Sally will be happy about it,” you reassured him.
But Ben shrugged.
“I don’t know… It’s one thing that I spend time with the two of you, it’s another that I date her mother.”
“She’s young, she doesn’t really understand all this.”
“Perhaps you’re right.”
You waited patiently for him to speak again, feeling that he had more to say, but he needed time to choose the right words.
“I just… I know that you will always choose Sally. And I’m not complaining about it, that’s perfectly normal, she’s your daughter. But I… I’m afraid this will have to end if Sally doesn’t give me a chance.”
You tightened your hold on his hand without noticing.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
Ben nodded, deciding to change the subject, even though it was still obvious that he wasn’t convinced.
“Anyway, a coffee before going back to work, darling?”
You nodded enthusiastically.
“Let’s go to my office, I don’t feel like being interrupted by another colleague,” Ben proposed, and you nodded, but also remembered his strange reaction from your teasing earlier on.
“Ben? You weren’t upset when I teased you about being organised, right?” you asked as you stood up from your chair, and Ben picked up his laptop, tugging it under his arm as he stood as well. “You know it wasn’t meant as a critic, I was just joking around…”
“Of course, darling! I’m not that susceptible.”
“I don’t know you… you stopped yourself when you were about to say something.”
But he turned to you then, right before reaching the closed door, and a devilish grin informed you that he wasn’t upset at all, indeed.
“Hmmm… yeah, I couldn’t say that in front of the kids. They’re too young for that kind of things,” he joked, but you frowned, not fully understanding what he meant.
Your heart stumbled in your chest as he leant closer, wrapping an arm around your waist, dark eyes flickering to your lips and then back to your eyes.
“I wanted to tease you about how you mess up my desk.”
You looked away, struggling to breathe as you pictured the scene... You and him pressed together, lips sealed, fingers looking for bare skin…
“Right… I see.”
“And even though I adore this activity, I couldn’t say…”
“No, you couldn’t!” you interrupted him, taking a step back as you tried to regulate both your heart and your breathing. Ben’s low chuckle told you he was enjoying your flushed self a lot.
“Come on, darling,” he went on, nodding towards the door and his smile was tempting as it grew brighter, something dangerous glittering in his black eyes. “Let’s mess up my desk before going back to work…”
Tumblr media
You had rarely been this anxious in your life. And perhaps it was a little ridiculous, but then again, tonight was so important.
You had to tell Sally that Ben and you were more than friends. It was time. Ben and you were doing fine; you were doing amazing, as a matter of fact. You had no doubts left that he loved you, that he was ready to be responsible with Sally, that he was here for the long run. That you both wanted this to work, that you were ready to put your heart on the table, an offering of a wounded and vulnerable prey, and you trusted him to mend the organ instead of eating it raw. Perhaps it was silly, given that you had been together for barely three months. Still, it was real. It was what you wanted. And Sally needed to know.
That’s why you were now sitting with Ben in front of the sofa, Sally sitting on the furniture in her pirate pyjamas, holding her bunny and throwing suspicious glances at you and Ben.
It was the evening, you had eaten together, a meal Ben had cooked, nothing too fancy but delicious all the same. It was the evening, and outside the world was full of darkness and yellow lights.
“What’s going on?” Sally asked, narrowing her eyes.
“We… we need to talk with you about something, angel,” you spoke in a soft, quiet voice that you hoped soothing and steady enough to hide your nerves.
She seemed worried by your tone though, and you hated that. You struggled to swallow, and Ben spoke in your stead when you remained silent. You had planned out your speech. Ben had written it down when you had started spiralling the day before at lunchtime. You had learned it, and yet now, it seemed… so hard to say the right words.
“First, we need you to know that… this is changing nothing about your parents. And that your mom and dad are always going to do what’s best for you first, no matter what.”
You nodded, before diving.
“You see… Ben and I, we… we’re a couple now.”
It was a little blunt, more so than the gentle phrases you had eloquently written the day before. But it was earnest, and you couldn’t say it any other way.
Sally didn’t say anything, she just looked back and forth between you and Ben.
“It means that… Ben is going to spend more and more time with us, that’s all,” you tried to reassure your daughter, although her reaction was unreadable. “For you, that’s the only thing that will change for the time being. Ben is just… going to be around more. And help me take care of you sometimes, the same he’s already been doing, really. Nothing big is going to suddenly change, you don’t have to worry about that. But… we needed to tell you. Because we… we’re not going to hide the way we feel in front of you. I know that it’s complicated for you to understand, that it’s adult stuff but…”
You fell immediately silent when Sally started crying.
Tears fell quietly at first, and then a gentle hush sound, and then a true cry, and soon she was sobbing and wailing… and you remained frozen in place, staring at her tiny frame shaking and her cheeks wet with tears.
You blinked, it took you what seemed like forever to react, to reach out for your daughter.
“Sally, calm down, it’s not a bad news. Why are you crying?”
“Sally, it’s alright, nothing’s going to change,” Ben added, but Sally kept on crying.
You stood up and reached to hold her, but Sally pushed you away, and you heart broke at the sight.
“NO!” your daughter cried. “I DON’T WANT THAT! I DON’T WANT BEN!”
“Sally, calm down…”
“NO! NO!”
Before you could stop her, Sally had jumped from the couch and was running into her bedroom. You heard the door closing with force, and then everything was still.
Ben hadn’t dared to move, still sitting on the carpet, looking wide-eyed in the direction of your daughter’s room. When he finally turned to you, you exchanged a blank glance. He moved to sit closer in what seemed to be slow motion, as if reluctant, as if afraid of what would happen once he would have reached you. And he was right to be wary. You were crying when you looked at him again, and he knew too well why tears were staining your cheeks now.
Sally was everything to you. She prevailed over everything else in your life. You would have done anything for her, including sacrificing the man you loved, giving up on your own happiness.
If Sally couldn’t accept Ben as your partner, you would leave him.
When he reached out, wrapped his arm around your shoulders to hold you close, lips pressed to your hair, you both started crying.
And you wondered if this meant that it would be your last evening with the man you loved.

Ben Barnes x Reader (Family AU)
Bonus One-shot
Summary: Ben's online interview get's interrupted by his cheeky toddler.
Alternate version: Cute Interruption
Warnings: none
Word count: 3.4K
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was early morning and the start of a busy day like any other. Ben and his wife, (Name), began their daily morning routine but with the addition of setting up the home library for Ben’s online interview. The actor would usually make his appearance through the webcam in his office, or in the living room, but today he thought their home library would be a good place and display as his background. He’d thought to make a good but simple impression of a modest and literate environment. Overall, Ben liked to share his love of reading and the library played a good part for him to display his collection of Leigh Bardugo’s books, kept on his shelves.
“You all set up for your interview, babe?” (Name) had asked him at the kitchen table. Ben looked up from the newspaper and smiled at his beautiful wife, “Ready as I’ll ever be.” He then set his sights on the chair between him and his wife that was occupied by the family’s beloved angel, their daughter, Eleanor Tricia Barnes, Ellie for short (But to daddy…she was ‘bunny’).
“Look at you, bunny,” Ben said in pure joy and adoration as he addressed his baby girl. Little Ellie’s attention was captured by the voice that she loved hearing since in her mother’s womb; she then smiled wide as she looked at her father. “Such a good girl eating all your eggs.” Ellie was four years old and still a picky eater but (Name) and Ben managed. They both were raising a wonderful little girl.
“Did you enjoy breakfast, bunny?” Ben asked his girl. Ellie nodded back and replied, “Yeess, daddy!”
“And what do we say to mommy?” he gestured to mama bear. Ellie turned her head to face you, “Thank you, mommy! Really yummy!”
“It was?” (Name) cooed to her daughter, “Aww thank you, baby. Mommy is so happy you enjoyed your food.” Ellie giggled loud as her mother ambushed her with kisses over her soft cherub face. “Ha ha ha! Mommy! Mommy, stop! It tickles!”
Ben laughed at the hilarious and heartwarming scene in front of him. Oh, how he loved his family. They were his entire world. Breakfast was over and it was time for Ben to reconnect (virtually) with his fellow cast members now friends in preparation for the interview. With the pandemic putting filming projects on hold or rescheduled most of the time, it gave Ben the opportunity to spend more time with his family.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Everything good?” (Name) asked Ben as he fixed himself facing his laptop. He gave a smile and nodded, “Yeah. I am all set for the interview…all that’s left is to-” “Daddy?” a soft, young voice interrupted the two from the doorway. Eleanor leaned against the entrance, her small palm hovering over the doorknob. (Name) and Ben could see her pigtails peek out the door. She certainly looked so adorable like a curious little bunny, their little bunny, that is.
“What is it, baby?” (Name) asked. Eleanor gave no reply but ran to her father whilst clutching her stuffed bunny rabbit.
“Daddy?” she asked.
“Yes, bunny?” Ben asked.
“C-can you read to me and Floppsy a story, please?”
“Aww sorry Bunny, not now. Daddy has to work but I can read it to you and Floppsy as soon as I’m done,” he promised her as he kneeled to her height.
“You’re not going away again, are you? You just got here!” she exclaimed out of confusion with impending sadness. Ben had returned home barely a week ago from his earlier interviews with his cast members in person.
Ben and (Name) noticed their daughter was getting anxious with how jittery she became. Eleanor looked down as she clutched Floppsy tightly to her chest. The parents were quick to pull their daughter into their arms to help put her at ease. (Name) patted and rubbed her daughter’s back, “No, no, baby! Daddy’s not going anywhere.”
“He-he’s n-not?” she sniffled.
“No, my sweet. Daddy’s going to an online meeting. He’ll just be seated here and talk in the camera from the laptop,” her mother explained to her. Eleanor looked to her father who now had his palms caressing her cherub cheeks. “Is that true?” she asked him.
His thumbs wiped away the stray tears that fell from his little girl's glossy eyes, “Yes, bunny…” he whispered softly, “I’m not going anywhere. I will be right here, working on my laptop while chatting with some folks.”
The girl sniffled again and wrapped her arms tight around her daddy’s neck.
“Ok daddy.”
(Name) smiled at the sweet and heartwarming scene in front of her. Her baby girl clinging to her daddy as if he would disappear. Ben hugged back and tight. He was happy to be home and hold his daughter in his arms. A very faint smell of his bunny’s shampoo wafted in his face as he gave a big kiss on her head. She smelled of mango and orange blossom with a hint of vanilla. Ben loved his baby’s scent so much as it gave him the feeling of warmth, love, and safety. But most of all it gave him a sense of fatherhood. After all, his baby girl fell in love with the scent and claimed it as her signature scent.
“It’s almost time for the web interview, Ben,” (Name) said hurriedly.
“Oh right. Bunny, daddy is going to be busy for an hour at least. So why don’t you play with mommy in the meantime.”
“Okay!”
“Alright then, let’s leave daddy to work now, Ellie.” (Name) brought her hand out which Eleanor was quick to grasp in her own tiny ones.
“Bye, bye, daddy,” Ellie waved as she and her mother walked out the library.
“Bye, bye, bunny. I love you.”
“LUV YOU, DADDY!!” she proclaimed loudly which caused both adults to laugh.
“Good luck with the interview, my love!” (Name) wished him the best.
“Thank you.” He really was a blessed man to have such a loving family.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now while Ben was doing his online interview, his family occupied themselves with their own activities. (Name) was sat down on a small chair playing a game of cafe with her baby girl who was currently her baker and server at the moment. And what an adorable baker/server she was. Ellie was dressed in her pink apron with her baker’s cap that covered her pigtails.

(Name) and Ben set up a whole kitchen playset in their daughter’s playroom. It had a fridge, an oven, a microwave, plus some (or perhaps many) accessories, even a working sink that Ben helped install. Ben was the most doting father, Eleanor could have. He spoiled her so much that (Name) would have to intervene and place her foot down.
All in all he was a good father.
“Here you go mommy…one eh-ee-éclair!” the girl cutely struggled to pronounce the French pastry name as she placed the toy version on the table. “And two chocolate chip cookies for Floppsy!” Of course, her best-stuffed bunny had to be included. She never went anywhere nor played any game without Floppsy.
“Ooh that looks delicious, chef Eleanor, mmm…” (Name) then pretend munched on the toy éclair, “Mm! So good. You are an amazing baker. Don’t you think so, Floppsy?”
“Ha ha ha! Thank you, mommy.”
“Speaking of chocolate chip cookies, how about you and mommy head over to the kitchen for a little snack?”
“Yay! Come on, Floppsy!”
The girl grabbed her cotton-filled companion and ran to the kitchen while stomping on her little socked feet which only sounded like tiny thumps. It made the woman chuckle at her daughter's delightful sounds when she ran around in her adorable toddler-sized socks.
“No running, baby,” she called out to her softly so as to not disturb her husband.
(Name) plated some cookies and a glass of warm milk for Ellie to snack on. “And for Floppsy?” she asked for her longtime pal.
“Floppsy’s been putting on a few pounds so he’s going on a carrot diet.” With that, she placed a small plate with chopped-up carrots. She knew if she set a cookie for Floppsy, her daughter would sneak it for herself. She didn’t want to ruin little Eleanor’s appetite for lunch hour. So this was just a small treat for Ellie to keep her occupied.
Now mind you, Eleanor Tricia Barnes is a good girl, and (Name) and Ben had done themselves proud for raising a bright young girl. But with how Ben was closely overwhelmed with new projects and interviews, he’d be away from home a lot more often which has made the little Barnes miss him a lot more often as well.
“Is daddy done now?” Ellie asked with stray cookie crumbs around her mouth.
“Not yet, my love. He’ll be done once he leaves the library,” her mother informed her apologetically. (Name) knew how much she wanted to spend every moment with the man she’s adored and loved since she was conceived (a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point).
“But I want daddy to read to me now.”
“I know, I know. But he’s busy at the moment, Ellie. You can watch some cartoons if you’d like,” (Name) offered.
“Yay!”
“So what are we watching?”
“Bluey!”
“Why am I not surprised? Hahaha!” She really loved that show and her mother could not blame her… it’s a really good show.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It had barely been 10 minutes and Eleanor was getting restless. Her mother had gone off to the kitchen to prepare lunch for the family and she was told to remain seated in the living room and to occupy herself with the TV. But you know kids, they have an acute attention span and patience. So this was her chance to sneak off without her mother looking.
And off she went with Floppsy dragged by her side. The girl reached the door to the library and stood on tippy toes to carefully open the door. She stuck her tongue out struggling to twist the knob of the door. Her ears picked up her father’s voice muffled through the door. This prompted the girl to work harder as she felt motivated to know her father was on the other side.
“Daddy…” she whispered in desperation. Eleanor loved both her parents equally but she was a daddy’s girl through and through. Since birth, Eleanor had realized a love of listening to her father read to her. Every day whenever Ben was home, there was a designated time for him and his daughter to have their own bonding session and that was storybook time. The girl was learning fast in her reading times and it benefitted her education process. (Name) once claimed they were raising a future bookworm. Like father, like daughter. But (Name) didn’t complain for she found it a beautiful trait in her family.
The doorknob clicked open which made the girl sigh in relief and in victory. She poked her head through the entrance and looked inside to find her father sitting on the couch with his Macbook on the coffee table.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben heard an audible yet gentle murmur call out to him which he recognized straight away. He turned his head in the direction of the door and saw his little girl, his bunny, leaning against the ajar door. “Daddy, are you finished?” she asked with a pair of her dark doe eyes and a cute little pout. The man in question was slightly stunned but was overcome by pure glee. It didn’t matter that his little bunny interrupted him. Not at all.
“Almost, sweetie,” he smiled, “I’m sorry for keeping you long.”
The girl just gave her father a heartwarming smile as she rushed to him whilst clutching her stuffed bunny. Ben placed his daughter on her lap and gave her a kiss on her head.
“Who’s this lovely young lady?” a voice called out from Ben’s laptop which caught both the Barnes’ attention. ‘Oh right, the interview,’ Ben realized quickly. Since he and his wife had Eleanor, they made it their mission to keep their daughter away from social media platforms and secure their family’s privacy. They were just reserved and felt that their domestic lifestyle remained as it is. Private.
So maybe it wouldn’t hurt that their darling angel just makes a small appearance for an online panel interview. Besides, it was out of his hands.
“Bunny, you want to say ‘Hi’?” he said to her. Eleanor looked to the screen of her father’s laptop that he would let her play games on and watch her favorite show, Bluey, she smiled and gave a wave. “Hi!’ she shouted in excitement. Everyone said hello to her back enthusiastically.
“This is my daughter, Eleanor,” Ben told them, “I thought mommy kept her eye on you.”
“She did…but I tricked mommy! But shh…” continued the little troublemaker, “don’t tell her.” The girl added in barely a whisper which the panel found funny and her father laughed at her cheeky behavior.
Eleanor smiled and looked closely at the screen and recognized her father’s cast mates. “Hi Auntie Jessie!” she exclaimed in joy at seeing her favorite person on the screen. Jessie and Ben became close friends since they began working in Shadow and Bone, so it was natural for Ben to introduce his family to them.
“Hi, Ellie! Is that Floppsy?” the actress asked.
“Yeah! Say ‘Hi’ Floppsy. Don’t be rude!” Her reply made everyone online laugh in hysterics.
“Hi Uncle Archie! Hi Uncle Freddy! Hi Auntie Amita! Hi Uncle Kitty!” she waved to the screen.
“No, no, little Barnes, it is pronounced Uncle Kit,” Kit lectured her in a mock-serious tone.
“Don’t listen to him, lovie. Kitty suits him,” Amita chuckled her retort.
Archie decided to intervene as he managed to control and dull his laughter. “Alright, alright,” he gained their attention, “no need to bicker, you have lovely names.”
“You’re not the one called ‘Kitty’. Back me up, Carter,” Kit called to his fellow costar and friend.
The ‘Kaz Brekker’ actor just gave a nonchalant shrug and replied, “You’re on your own, mate.”
“What?!”
“I’m really sorry, haha,” Ben added, “we seem to be delaying the interview. Bunny, can you go back to mommy and wait for me a little longer?”
A wave of sadness washed over Eleanor when her father asked her to wait. “But…but, it’s story time…” she whispered to him softly.
“I will read to you when daddy is finished. I promise. How’s about mommy reads to you and I read the rest when I come back?” he offered her a proposal. He really did not want to delay the online interview nor did his daughter have too much internet presence.
The girl shook her head in disagreement. Now, Eleanor didn’t dislike her mother reading to her. She just preferred that at this hour and the book she was currently reading be read aloud by her father as it was daddy-daughter time. Mommy usually read to her before bedtime. (Name)’s bedtime stories consisted of just making up stuff right on the spot or retelling her and Ben’s past. They were funny and dorky (just like her), and her stories were one of the best, indeed. But right now, Baby Barnes was feeling slightly impatient and was in need of her father’s attention.
“Why not little one?” called out Archie.
“I-It’s about a-a-animals and mommy says it wrong.”
Oh…Oh! There was a look of realization that washed over the faces of the cast members with a touch of amusement. They knew where this was going.
Ben just smiled and shook his head at his daughter’s blunt answer. “Now, Bunny…you can’t blame mommy for how she says things.”
“But it’s true! She always says ‘zee-bruh’…but it’s ‘zeh-bruh’!”
The cast and the interviewer let out a roar of laughter at the little girl’s rant.
“Ha ha ha, I know sweetie. But mommy’s American. Believe me…I’ve tried to re-educate her. She’s a lost cause...” Ben said morbidly but in a joking way which caused everyone even Eleanor to chuckle at his joke.
“Do my ears deceive me or am I just now hearing my husband and daughter make fun of my accent?” (Name) called out from the doorway.
“Uh oh…” Eleanor was busted.
“Uh oh, indeed. And by the way, there is nothing wrong with mommy’s accent,” she told them off in a playful manner.
“Yes, there is,” Ben and Eleanor said at the same time.
“You call chips, french fries, darling…that’s just wrong,” Ben pointed out. It was one of the things he and his wife argued about, but nothing bad. They just loved to debate their cultures and languages.
“Daddy right! Chips, mommy!”
(Name) playfully rolled her eyes and scoffed out “Hmh, Red coats”.
“Okay now simmer down. Ellie bun, let your daddy finish his work.”
“Aww…”
“I made pasta.”
“Bye, daddy!” She immediately jumped off his lap and left him like he was chopped liver. “Where has the love gone?” Kit chortled which caused the others to shake their head at his playful comment.
“Hah, I’m sorry for the interruption, babe,” his wife apologized to him.
“It’s alright, love,” he said sincerely, “In fact, she just was the life of the party.” Everyone agreed to that. She helped liven up the chat with her banter and sassy behavior.
“I’m glad she didn’t cause much trouble…anyway, we’ll leave you be. Love you.”
“I love you too.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
“That kid of yours sure loves pasta huh Ben,” the interviewer pointed out to the actor. Ben smiled and gave a nod. “Yeah, especially when her mom cooks it.”
“She’s gotten sassier since I last saw her,” Jessie asked her co-star. This prompted Ben to give the story.
“Ha ha, yes. She’s made it a hobby actually. (Name)’s American background is one of my daughter’s targets for her cheeky insults.”
“Ooh really? Now that’s an interesting tale to tell,” Amita cooed at the thought of the little Barnes scolding her mom in her cute voice.
“I can actually give an example…Uhm…It happened months ago when we picked up Ellie from nursery. She was talking with her friends and one of them asked why her mom sounds different from the other moms. Ellie then replied that Mommy was from America and over there they talk funny,” Ben could barely keep a chuckle from escaping from his lips.
“Oh my god!” Jessie exclaimed in shock filled with delight at hearing the little Barnes’ mischief.
“Savage,” Archie shook his head playfully.
“Oh and there was also a time she started calling her mom ‘Dude’,” Ben loved that memory of when their daughter started throwing that phrase around the house.
This panel interview seemed to only be filled with more and more laughter and joy from listening to everybody share their family stories with the added bonus feature of a little web guest.
“I just wanna ask Ben uhm… do you and your wife debate each other on the aspects of your differing cultures?”
“We do. It’s all in good fun and education. They’re just silly arguments, really. Like uhh… I never could get enough how my wife… when she makes a cup of coffee, but to her, it’s a cup of Joe.”
“That doesn’t make sense,” Jessie laughed, “but it’s very interesting to hear that.”
“Oh remember when she made tea?” Amita asked her friends.
“Oh my days…” Archie groaned as his mind automatically replayed that ‘horrific’ day.
“I nearly cried when she showed us how it was made in her country,” Kit said in a mock-traumatized tone.
“There was also a time I brought (Name)’s sloppy joe’s to set for everyone to try,” Ben included.
“I never had a good first taste impression of the sloppy joe but when I tried (Name)’s *chef’s kiss gesture* So good!” Archie complimented.
“No argument there,” Freddy piped in.
“Americans can be weird but they do have their good qualities,” Amita said in good spirits.
“Yeah, it just means you have to look hard for the right one. Isn’t that right, Ben?” Freddy teased.
“Yeah. Without a doubt,” Ben didn’t deny his friend’s statement. Freddy was right. Ben was a slightly closed-off and private person back then. The actor preferred to reside in his home country and he didn’t predict he would settle with a beautiful, smart, kind, and American wife. Despite their differences, their qualities helped bring them closer and bring so much depth into their relationship.
Then there was their daughter, Eleanor. She was their pride and joy. Their everything, really. Little Ellie may have been raised in the posh style of the Brits but she grew to be bold and quite crazy like her American mother. She really was a perfect blend.

Author's note:
This is an alternate but similar story to Cute Interruption which was a request. I had accidentally typed this story that didn't adhere to the request I was given (It's important to me that I give the people what they want in their stories). So I went and redid the story and left this one abandoned until I saw how it was still good enough to be shared with all of you. It's messy but I enjoyed writing it and didn't want it to go to waste.

Was there anything better than living not even a minute away from your friend? No. Definitely not.
Living across the street from your best friend, Ben, was like a dream come true. You had been close friends for almost a decade, and when it turned out that by moving to this neighborhood you would have Ben at your fingertips, you felt like the luckiest person in the world.
It was a bond that went beyond just friendship. You were like family to each other. You knew that if you ever needed anything, Ben would be right there, ready to offer his help and support. And the same went for him.
You would spend hours chatting on your front porches, sipping iced coffee and laughing until your stomachs hurt. You talked about everything, from the mundane details of your day to your deepest hopes and fears. There was never a dull moment when you were together.
Borrowing each other's clothes was a common occurrence. You loved how you could raid Ben's closet for a cozy sweater or a pair of comfy sweatpants, and he was always happy to lend you whatever you needed. You even had a running joke that you were secretly sharing a wardrobe, since you had so many items that seemed to belong to both of you.
But it wasn't just about the material things. You knew each other's routines, moods, and quirks inside and out. You could tell just by looking at each other if something was bothering the other person, and you always knew just what to say to make things better.
You even had the keys to each other's homes, so you could take care of each other's places when one of you had to leave city for an extended period of time. It was a sign of the trust and respect you had for each other.
But today your biggest concern was getting ready to go out.
As the sun began to set, you paced back and forth in front of your closet, feeling the pressure of finding the perfect outfit for the party you were going with Ben at your friend's house. You had spent the better part of the afternoon rifling through your wardrobe, trying on outfit after outfit, but nothing seemed to feel right.
You pulled out a sparkly dress and held it up to your body, admiring the way it shimmered in the light. But then you remembered how uncomfortable it was to wear and how you didn't want to be fidgeting with it all night. You discarded it on your bed.
Next, you picked up a pair of jeans and a cute blouse, thinking that maybe casual was the way to go. But when you tried them on, they just didn't seem to fit right. The jeans were too tight around your hips and the blouse was too baggy in the wrong places. You groaned in frustration and threw them onto the pile of clothes on your bed.
You took a deep breath and tried to calm yourself down. You knew it wasn't a big deal, but you couldn't help feeling a bit nervous. This was just a party, after all. You didn't need to stress about what you were wearing. But as much as you tried to convince yourself of that, you couldn't shake the feeling that you wanted to look good.
You scanned through your clothes once again and finally landed on a long, flowing skirt and a simple tank top. You paired it with some strappy sandals and stood in front of the mirror. It was a comfortable outfit, but was it too plain? Would you stand out among the other guests? You couldn't tell.
You sighed and flopped down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling. Maybe you were overthinking this. Maybe it didn't matter what you wore. But you couldn't help but feel like it did matter. You wanted to make a good impression on Ben and look your best in front of him, without giving away the fact that you had feelings for him.
After a few minutes of deep thought, you stood up and walked back to you closet. You took a deep breath, closed your eyes, and picked out a cute white sundress. Your favorite. You slipped it on and twirled around in front of the mirror, admiring the way it flowed around your body. Maybe it was a bit boring, but you loved it and Ben liked this dress too.
As you were lost in your thoughts, you didn't even notice the time passing by. That's when Ben's sudden voice rang out from the bottom of the stairs, informing you that you were running late and had to leave now.
You let out a small yelp of surprise and rushed down the stairs, nearly tripping over your own feet in the process. “I'm coming, I'm coming!” you called out. Struggling to keep pace, you hurriedly made your way out of the door, desperately trying to avoid being left behind, as Ben was already waiting outside.
As you stepped out onto the front porch, the rough texture of the doormat beneath your bare feet made you realize that you had forgotten to put on your shoes. You let out an annoyed groan and hurried back inside, taking care not to trip again, this time on the polished wooden floor. The last thing you wanted was to fall flat on your face and ruin your chance to hang out with Ben.
You quickly slipped on your favorite pair of sneakers, knowing that keeping up with Ben's fast pace and dancing on the party would require comfortable footwear. You didn't want to risk blisters or sore feet this night. After all, you had spent enough time walking around in high heels on the catwalk to know that looking good was important, but comfort was even more important.
With your sneakers securely on your feet, you raced back out onto the porch, eager to catch up with Ben and start the night's adventure.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry,” you panted. “I couldn't decide what to wear.”
Ben chuckled and gave you a quick look. “Well, you look great in anything, so no need to stress,” he said, making you feel a little bit shy.
You let out a breathless laugh, feeling your heart racing at his compliment. You couldn't help but notice the twinkle in his eyes, the way his lips curled up into a smile, and the slight flush on his cheeks that always appeared when he was around you. It was as if he knew exactly how to make your heart skip a beat.
“You're not looking too shabby yourself,” you replied, trying to mirror his teasing attitude.
Ben grinned, the playful glint in his eyes making your stomach do somersaults. “Why, thank you, kind lady. I do try to look my best,” he joked, making you laugh.
As you and Ben made your way towards the door, he naturally put his arm around your waist. Your friends often teased you both about acting like an old married couple due to living so close to each other, but this gesture felt different. When his touch met your skin, you felt a jolt of electricity run through your body. You tried to shrug it off, attributing it to just nerves, but deep down, you knew there was something more there. Despite being friends for years, lately, you couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something different between you two.
The party was just a short walk away, but it felt like an eternity and even talking did not make the time go any faster. You could smell the scent of his cologne and feel the warmth of his body next to yours. You wanted to stay in that moment forever, but soon enough, you arrived at the house and the party was in full swing.
The moment you stepped inside, the thumping bass of the music hit you hard, signaling that this party was going to be wild. Your friend had promised it would be a small gathering, but it was clear that he had underestimated the turnout. The air was heavy with the scents of alcohol, perfume, and sweat, making it hard to breathe. You looked over to Ben, hoping to find some comfort in his presence, but he was quickly whisked away by his closest friend into the sea of people.
Despite the chaos around you, there was a sense of familiarity that brought a wave of nostalgia. It reminded you of your college days when you went to parties like this every week. Memories flooded back, and you couldn't help but smile.
As you weaved through the crowd, you felt the occasional brush of someone's hand against yours or the whiff of someone's cigarette smoke. It was overwhelming but exciting at the same time.
Eventually, you made it to the kitchen, where the crowd was a little thinner. You poured yourself a drink and turned around, only to find your friend from the fashion shows walking towards you with a drink in his hand. His eyes lit up when he saw you and you couldn't help but feel a little flutter in your chest as he closed you in a tight hug, being careful not to spill your drinks. You can't remember the last time you saw each other off the runway.
“Well, well, well, look who it is. The most beautiful woman in the room,” he said, his voice laced with flirtatious charm.
You rolled your eyes and laughed, knowing this was just his usual banter. “Oh, please, you're just trying to butter me up,” you replied, playing along with his teasing. “Hi, Josh.”
He grinned, showing off his perfect smile. “Maybe I am. But can you blame me? You look absolutely gorgeous tonight,” he said, his eyes twinkling with admiration.
You couldn't help but giggle at his flattery, feeling your nerves settling down in the crowded party. "Well, thank you," you said, taking a sip of your drink. “I guess I can't blame you for having eyes, right?”
Josh chuckled, leaning in closer to your ear. “You know, I've been meaning to ask you something since it's been a while since we've seen each other,” he said, mischief in his voice.
Curiosity piqued and you raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really? What's that?”
“Are you seeing anyone?”
You felt your eyes widen, surprised, by his sudden question. You slowly shook your head. “No, not at the moment,” you replied, trying to keep your casual tone. The truth was that you wished you had a different answer.
“Good to know,” Josh said, smiling warmly at you. “Because I was hoping to steal you away for a dance.”
You grinned and shrugged your shoulders. “I don't see why not.”
Josh's hand felt warm against yours as he led you onto the dance floor, and your heart was racing with excitement. As soon as the music began, he pulled you close, and you felt his breath on your neck. You couldn't help but feel a little giddy at his attention, but at the same time, your mind kept drifting to Ben and how you wished it was him dancing with you now.
Despite your inner turmoil, you tried to focus on the present. The beat of the music pulsed through your body as Josh pulled you closer, and you felt a rush of heat rise to your cheeks. He wrapped his arms around your waist, and you could feel the muscles in his chest and arms tense as he swayed to the rhythm.
He was such an incredible dancer, moving with the beat effortlessly, and you followed his lead, feeling yourself getting lost in the moment. He made you laugh with his witty remarks and teasing comments, and you couldn't help but feel drawn to him.
But then, out of the corner of your eye, you saw Ben watching you from across the room. His jaw was clenched tight, and his dark eyes bore into you, making you feel uneasy. You tried to ignore him and focus on Josh, but the feeling of Ben's eyes on you was suffocating.
As the final notes of the song faded away, Josh's breath tickled your ear, making your heart race. “I think your boyfriend is getting jealous,” he whispered with a smirk, his eyes glinting mischievously. You furrowed your eyebrows slightly at the comment, unsure how to respond.
Before you could say anything, however, Ben appeared by your side, his eyes fixed on Josh. “Mind if I cut in?” he asked, his voice laced with tension.
Josh shrugged nonchalantly, taking a step back. “Be my guest,” he said, his smirk growing wider.
As soon as Josh was out of earshot, Ben grabbed your hand roughly and led you away from the dance floor. His grip was strong, almost possessive, but you couldn't deny the thrill that shot through you. You allowed him to lead you out of the crowded room and into the dimly lit hallway, where the sounds of the music faded away into the background.
You tried to speak, but his steely glare stopped you in your tracks. The tension between you was palpable, and you could feel your heart beating fast in your chest. He stopped abruptly and spun you around to face him, his grip still tight on your hand.
Ben's eyes narrowed as he glared at you, the fiery intensity of his gaze making your heart race faster. You had never seen him like this before; in all the time you had known him, he had never once been angry with you. His voice was low and rough as he spoke, his anger barely contained. “What the hell was that? You were practically all over that guy!” he accused.
Your heart sank at the accusation, feeling hurt and betrayed by his words. “All over him? We were just dancing, Ben,” you protested, your voice tinged with desperation. You hoped to make him see reason, to make him understand that there was nothing going on between you and Josh. “Don't forget that we're just friends,” you added, trying to remind him of the boundaries of your relationship.
But Ben was too far gone in his jealousy to listen. “I saw the way he was looking at you,” he spat out, his words laced with venom. “And the way you were looking at him. I don't like it, Y/N. I don't like it one bit.”
A silence fell between the two of you, and you stared into his eyes, searching for a clue as to what you should say next. The tension in the air was palpable, and you could feel the weight of his emotions bearing down on you.
Finally, he let out a deep breath, as if trying to calm himself down. He let go of your hand, taking a step back from you. “I know I have no right to be jealous, Y/N. I know we're just friends. But I can't help the way I feel. All I can think about is kissing you when I shouldn't. You aren't mine,” he said, his voice trailed off, and you could see the hurt and frustration etched into his face.
“I can be, just say you want it,” you replied impulsively, before you could stop yourself.
Ben looked at you in surprise, not believing what he had just heard. “What?” he asked, his eyes widening in shock.
You took a step closer to him, feeling bolder than ever. “I said, I can be yours. If you want me,” you repeated, your eyes locking onto his. “How much longer are you going to hide your feelings for me, dummy?”
Ben's surprise slowly turned into a smile, and he took a step closer to you, his hand reaching up to cup your face. “I've been hiding them for far too long, Y/N,” he said, his voice full of warmth. “I want you. I want to be with you.”
He leaned in, his lips meeting yours in a gentle kiss. It was hesitant at first, as if he couldn't believe that this was actually happening. But soon it became more passionate, as if he was trying to make up for all the time he had spent denying his feelings for you. You wrapped your arms around Ben's neck, holding him close as you kissed him back with equal fervor.
As the kiss deepened, you felt a sense of completeness wash over you. This was what you had been waiting for, what you had been hoping for, for so long. And now it was finally happening.
As you both pulled away, you looked up at him, your eyes shining with happiness. Ben smiled at you, his hand still cupping your face. “I can't believe it took us so long to get here,” he said, his voice filled with wonder.
You laughed, feeling a weight lifted off your shoulders. “Better late than never, right?” you replied, feeling giddy with excitement.
Ben pulled you into a tight hug, and you rested your head against his chest, feeling his heartbeat against your ear. “I'm never letting you go,” he whispered, placing a kiss on the top of your head.
You smiled, feeling content. “Good, because I'm not going anywhere,” you replied, feeling as if everything was finally falling into place.

CHAPTER ONE | CHAPTER TWO
CHAPTER THREE
Weeks passed, time and space allowing you to forget about Billy and the offer he’d made you. To her credit, Tammy had stuck with the job at Anvil and even seemed to be enjoying it, and she only rarely expected you to drop her off or pick her up. And Billy was nowhere to be seen; if he knew you were there, if he noticed your car, he didn’t bother to come out to see you. Everything felt like it was as it should be. In fact, everything felt better than it should.
Most days you didn’t even see Tammy; she’d go to work then out for food with her new friends, not getting home until late, leaving you with the whole apartment to yourself. Not that you were home much. No, you’d been taking extra shifts, trying to save some money. Soon enough Tammy would realise that she didn’t need you to split the bills and you’d wanted to be ready for when that day came.
As much as you didn’t want to have to move out, the thought of having your own space seemed nice.
Space that you found yourself desperately wishing for when Tammy texted you to let you know that she was throwing a party. You’d just finished your last delivery of the evening and all you’d wanted to do was go home, take the world's hottest shower, and then climb into bed.
Instead, when you got home, you had to fight to get to the bathroom, and suffer through the quickest shower imaginable because Tammy’s guests kept banging on the door. As for going to bed early? You gave up on that dream before you’d even reached the apartment door; the noise from the party flooded out into the stairwell, practically shaking the fucking walls.
You tried to be a good sport about it, hiding away in your room with your headphones on, trying to relax after a long day but you couldn’t. After two hours, you were at your wits end and you needed a drink (or to strangle Tammy - whichever opportunity presented itself first). Having to force your way through a crowd just to get to your own kitchen did little to help your mood but nothing could have prepared you for what came next.
Right in front of the refrigerator stood a leggy blonde - the sort with devastating curves and a perfect figure - but she wasn’t the one that held your attention. No, you were more stuck on the person at the end of her arm, the man whose chest her hand was possessively resting on. Billy-fucking-Russo.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” you muttered aloud but still remained unnoticed. Insignificant. Inconsequential.
For a few moments, you waited, like an expectant child, hoping someone would finally realise that you were there and move, but the longer you watched them, her hand stroking his chest and his eyes on hers, the angrier you felt. And you blamed him.
Normally it wouldn’t have bothered you  - you were fine with blending in, with people not noticing you - normally you would have cut your losses and returned to your room. But he was standing there, in your home with that shit-eating grin on his lips while some woman pawed at him.
The anger was irrational, it was stupid - you’d told him no, you didn’t get to be angry. But why had he even asked? Why go through all of that when it was obviously so easy for him? He’d stood in front of you and laughed at the idea you weren’t his type, but here he was, proving you right. Was that why he’d given up so easily? (Though could you really call it easy when you’d told him no at least half a dozen times?)
Finally, something broke inside of you.
“Hey, can you fucking move?” It came out before you could stop yourself, a little louder than it really needed to be, but it got her attention.
And his.
“Excuse me?” She turned on you and, yeah, she was just as pretty face on.
“Hey, you’re here,” Billy smiled, though the smile only lasted for a moment.
“Of course I’m here, I fucking live here.” You snapped, pulling the refrigerator door open, forcing the blonde to step back.
“Oh, you’re the roommate, the bike messenger. That’s cute.” The blonde smirked, all but looking down her nose at you (which honestly wasn’t hard given the five inch heels she was standing on).
“I’ll show you fucking cute in a minute,” you practically snarled as you fished a can of beer from the fridge.
She stepped forwards, ready to call your bluff, but Billy decided to chime in.
“Michelle, can you give us a moment?” He barely even looked at her and, under different circumstances, you might have enjoyed the way her face dropped at being dismissed by him. But you were too angry at him to pay her much mind once she started to walk away, even if she did mutter something that sounded vaguely threatening under her breath as she went.
Billy looked at you, obviously trying to figure out where your little outburst had come from. You tongued the inside of your cheek, glancing around at the mess Tammy’s guests had left all over the kitchen - mess you’d probably have to clean up in the morning.
“You should probably go after her,” you finally broke the silence, “she might fall off those heels and break her neck.”
“I’m sorry.” He offered with something of a sigh.
“For what?”
“For what she said. It was shitty.”
“It’s fine.” It really wasn’t fine. “I’m used to it.” It still pissed you off though. “And if it really bothered you, you should’ve at least had the balls to say it was shitty while she was still standing here. Not that I need you protecting me.”
“Have I done something wrong?” He finally decided to ask. “I feel like you’re pissed at me but I did exactly what you wanted me to do, I stayed away.”
“Being in my apartment isn’t staying away, Billy.”
“And that’s why you’re pissed? Because I came to a party? It’s not like I was trying to hunt you down, you came over here. Tammy said you’d stay in your room, that -”
“You know what? Never mind. You wouldn’t get it.” With that, you turned and started to walk away from him, swiping a bottle of vodka from the counter as you made your way back. Billy called after you, but he didn’t dare try to follow, and you didn’t breathe again until you were safely back in your room.
The next hour or so faded into something of a blur once you opened the vodka. Outside of your room the party raged on, showing no signs of ending anytime soon, but all you could think about was Billy. Have I done something wrong? It played over and over in your head and, even hours later, you still didn’t have an answer.
Yes, he’d done something wrong.
Only, no, he hadn’t.
You’d told him no, you’d turned him down; you didn’t get to be upset that he was letting other women throw themselves at him. You didn’t get to be angry that he was probably going to take Michelle home with him tonight. But you were angry, and that’s what annoyed you the most.
You felt used, felt like you’d been nothing more than a game to him and that, even if you had said yes, he would have dropped you the moment someone like her looked his way.
Most of all you were upset that you had nothing to offer a man like Billy Russo.
After a while you got to your feet, planning on heading to the kitchen again for a glass of water - who would have guessed that trying to drink straight vodka was not the best idea? Being south of sober definitely made navigating the crowd of people a lot more interesting. Until you ran into her. Literally. Her drink fell from her hand the moment you collided, most going on you, but enough ending up on her.
You didn’t stop or wait to hear what she had to say, suddenly feeling like everyone was looking at you. You didn’t even make it to the kitchen, instead you ducked into the bathroom and slammed the door shut behind you, banging your fist against the door, needing to do something to help release the frustration. Once you were done hitting the door, you leaned against it, pressing your forehead against the wood, trying to get your shit together enough to go back out there and make it back to your room without causing anymore issues.
It wasn’t until you heard the toilet flush that you realised you weren’t alone.
And, as you turned, there he was. Billy-fucking-Russo pulling up his zipper.
“Shit, sorry -” you blurted out, cheeks burning with embarrassment, “- the lock, sometimes it doesn’t -”
“Don’t worry about it,” Billy shrugged, washing his hands like it was all perfectly normal, “though if you wanna work your frustration out, I can suggest something a little better than punching the door.”
“Of course you can,” rolling your eyes. “Can you just go, please?”
“I would, but I don’t think you really want that, sweetheart,” he smiled, waving his hand, reminding you that you were still pressed against the door, trapping him in there with you. You didn’t move. “Seriously, what did I do to piss you off? You asked me not to bother you anymore, so I left you alone. Why are you acting like I kicked your dog?”
As he spoke, Billy stepped forwards. You didn’t move, you just kept your eyes fixed on his, on those dark eyes that seemed to look right through all of your bullshit. You could get lost in those eyes; you wanted him to look right through you to all the things you kept hidden, just to prove yourself right about him when he walked away.
You didn’t answer his question. You didn’t have an answer for him. Silence fell and the space between you shrunk with every passing second until you had to tilt your head back against the door just to look at him.
“Why me?” You finally dared to ask the question that had been plaguing you since that first kiss.
“Why you, what?”
“Why kiss me when you have women like Michelle throwing themselves at you? Was it a slow week or did you think I’d just be desperate enough to say yes?” There was a pain in your words that you didn’t want to share with him; you didn’t want Billy to know that you were jealous, that he’d made you feel cheap and easily replaced.
For a second he looked at you, like he was thinking, like he was trying to understand just what you were saying. His eyes stayed fixed on yours, catching every little flicker of upset. Then he was moving, reaching for you and pulling you towards him, while simultaneously pressing you back against the door, his lips finding yours.
The kiss wasn’t gentle. No, it was everything you thought of when you dared to think of Billy; dominant and eager, possessive and hungry. His teeth nipped your lower lip, relieving you of your last scrap on common sense. You could taste whiskey on his lips and on his tongue as you fought with him to deepen the kiss, to get everything you could from him. Fingers gripped his shirt, pulling him closer, his body strong and firm against yours.
His hand held the back of your neck, fingers tangling with your hair, holding you in place while he devoured you with his kiss. It wasn’t long before your hips started to move, pressing yourself against him, trying to find some sort of relief.
“I can’t stop thinking about you,” he confessed against your lips.
The confession was almost enough to distract from the hand that moved between your bodies. Your thigh lifted to his hip, desperately pressing closer and closer while his lips began to trail up and down your neck. His touch made you feel like you were burning from the inside out and your breath caught the moment you felt his hand slip beneath the waistband of your leggings and into your panties. Your head fell back against the door as his fingers slipped lower, and by the time they reached your clit, you were aching for him.
Billy paused for the briefest of seconds, waiting for any sign that he’d gone too far. You gave him none. His lips covered yours again, kissing you and swallowing down all the gasps and moans that started to spill from you the moment his fingers started to circle the sensitive bundle of nerves. He wasn’t slow or gentle, he was eager, pushing you violently towards breaking point; too fast, too soon.
You felt the bang through the door before you heard it, Tammy called your name, and you froze.
“W-what?” You called out, quickly realising that Billy’s fingers were still moving and he had no intention of stopping.
“Did you just throw a drink at Michelle?”
Billy’s hand sunk lower through the arousal that had soaked your panties and started to ease a finger inside you. The look on his face was shamelessly smug, enjoying watching you struggle to keep quiet. But you didn’t push him away, didn’t try to make him stop; you wanted him to do his worst.
Tammy banged on the door again.
“Well, did you?”
“No,” you gasped as his finger started to stroke into you from tip to knuckle.
“She said you did.”
His finger bent inside you while his thumb teased your clit; he knew exactly what he was doing, how impossible he was making things.
“I didn’t, it - it was an accident.” Your voice broke and your back arched, pressing into his touch.
His lips moved to your ear, tongue trailing along your lobe before he whispered; “you’re so wet for me, sweetheart.” And, as if to prove the point (or maybe just because he was enjoying watching you squirm) Billy sank a second finger into your wetness. Just one look at him told you everything you needed to know; he loved how much control he had over you, how much power.
“I said how did you accidentally -”
“Tammy, I -” you bit your lips together, trying to swallow down a moan, clenching around his fingers, “- I didn’t do anything to Michelle, so can you just fuck off and leave me alone?”
“You are fucking unbelieveable, you know that? I can’t fucking -”
Whatever she was saying, it didn’t matter. Your fingers tangled in Billy’s hair and you pulled him into a needy kiss, using his lips to muffle the sounds he was tearing from you. Every stroke from his fingers left you feeling dizzy, taking another piece of your sanity with them every time they pulled back. Your hips shifted, riding his fingers, taking everything he was giving you.
You already knew that you were going to let him fuck you. You were already thinking about it; right there against the door first, then bent over the sink so you could watch him in the mirror. Everywhere, anywhere. Every little thing was Billy, as his fingers drove you higher and higher.
Awkwardly, you ran your hand down the front of his shirt to his pants, finding the bulge of his erection and palming it through the fabric. You felt Billy’s lips pull into a smile against yours, his hips pressing into your touch. Fuck, you couldn’t get over how hard he was because of you.
His fingers bent, stretching you, exploring you, until they found a spot that made you shudder.
“Billy -” you cried against his lips.
“So that’s what you sound like when you cry my name,” he groaned in response, looking at you in a way that sent a shiver down your spine. You could tell that he wanted more, that he needed everything from you. It should have scared you just how much he wanted but as his fingers found that spot over and over again, you couldn’t think about anything but Billy and how he was making you feel.
Your hand moved, tracing the hard outline of his cock, but you couldn’t do much more than that as Billy’s fingers dragged you to orgasm. He kissed you as you came, fingers still stroking into you, trying to drag the moment out as long as possible. Even his lips and tongue couldn’t completely muffle the moans and cries that spilled from you but, if anything, Billy seemed to enjoy it.
When it was done, your foot found the floor again, legs shaking beneath you as you tried to catch your breath. And, as you did, reality started to hit home.
What had you just done? You’d let your roommate's new boss finger you in the bathroom at a party after drinking too much vodka, that's what.
And, why? Because you’d been jealous that he’d been giving someone else a shred of attention. Because he’d done exactly what you’d asked him to and he’d left you alone.
His lips moved back to your neck, his body pressed impossibly close, letting you know he wasn’t done. Billy wanted more. And you - fuck, some part of you still wanted that, especially when he pulled back his fingers and left you feeling devastatingly empty. You hated how worthless you suddenly felt knowing that you’d given him what he wanted from you - so what if he’d been thinking about you? That didn’t change the fact that, if you hadn’t stumbled into the bathroom, he probably would have taken Michelle home.
(He still could take her home. He could fuck her with the same fingers he'd just had inside you.)
Your whole body tensed when you felt his hands tugging at your leggings, and you knew it couldn't continue.
“Stop,” you finally managed to find your voice again, pushing him away from you.
Billy looked at you, confused and maybe even a little angry (or maybe you wanted him to be angry because it made what came next easier for you).
“What’s wrong?” He asked, expression softening when he noticed the look of anguish on your face.
“I can’t -” your voice broke. You hated yourself and hated him for making you feel that way, for twisting up your insides and giving you a fleeting glimpse of feelings you knew could never last.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he reached for you, fingers ghosting your cheek, trying to soothe you before you recoiled.
“I shouldn’t've, I - I need to -”
For the first time since you’d met him, Billy was left lost for words, trying to figure out what had happened in the last thirty seconds to trigger this sudden change in you, and you took the opportunity to open the door and slip away from him. You heard him call after you but you didn’t stop, making your way through the small crowd that had somehow managed to cram itself into your apartment. You didn’t see him try to follow after you, you didn’t look back, even as you reached the front door and left the apartment.
You walked for a little while, not really knowing where you were going or what you were going to do. You just knew that you couldn’t go back, that you couldn’t face him. Eventually you wound up in the little diner a couple of blocks over where you sometimes grabbed breakfast in the morning and you stayed there, drinking coffee and eating pancakes until the early hours of the morning, until you were certain that the party would have finished and everyone would have left.
As much as you didn’t want to, you kept thinking about Billy, about everything that had happened, and how much you’d wanted it before the panic had set in. By the time you finally made it home, you were exhausted, crawling into bed and promising yourself that you’d stay away from Billy Russo from then on.
END NOTES : After the next part there are going to be fewer time jumps between chapters, I just wanted to kind of let Billy and the reader stew in their emotions for a bit. The next part is pretty much finished, it just needs some editing (funny story, the T and the I keys on my laptop are loose so if there’s any hilarious typos that slip though that’s probably why). But, yeah, the next part should be up next saturday!
As always, thank you so much for reading and liking and doing all the tumblr things, it means a lot to me! Also I have a tag list now so drop a comment or message me if you wanted to be added

"There's something you haven't explained to me." Billy says suddenly.
You pause, from sending your messages, looking across at him from your spot in the passenger seat.
You raise your eyebrows expectantly.
"Why do you think hackers- or people trying to breach security in general- would underestimate the level of sophistication of the system?"
You take a deep breath, lean back.
"Because," You say with a tired sigh, "When they search up the company structure, they'll see me as a consultant."
"You?"
"Female." You clarify.
"You really think that people will make that assumption?"
"Why not? It's been happening for most of my life anyway, I'm just weaponising it now."
He's silent for a long moment.
"I'm sorry that you have to go through that."
"It's fine," You sing, "It means I get to design a system that looks dumb but ruins some fucker's life."
He smiles fondly, glancing over at you.
"Come over to my place next week, I'll do the cooking this time."
You hum, prolonging your response so that it seems like you take some time to decide.
In reality, saying no was never an option.
"Sure, I'd like that."
You don't notice the way his shoulders drop subtly, relaxing, just moments after.
.
It's not as difficult to leave your place alone as it was before.
Sure, for those first few weeks after the robbery, you'd only gone to and from work with Billy and occasionally, one of your friends would accompany you to the supermarket.
Today, when Amy calls to find out of you're still on for later, you pause, and tell her that maybe you're going to try to go by yourself today.
She's quiet for a moment, and you can almost hear her thinking.
"Okay, but please call if you feel even a little bit unsure?" You can hear the worry in her voice, you know that she's thinking about the first time she accompanied you, and you hid in the bathroom for ten minutes cause you thought you were being followed.
"I will, Amy, thank you."
Truthfully, you could never shake the feeling that you were being watched.
It went with you everywhere, like a shadow that just kept coming back no matter how much light you shined on it.
You tried to take deep breaths, and reassure yourself that everything was okay. It was the best you could do.
Billy was the only person that made you feel completely safe, his knowledge and background meant that you could very much trust whenever he said you weren't being followed.
But now? Alone like this, you try not to look over your shoulder too many times when examining apples, or not to freeze up when someone got too close to you.
Overall, at the cashier, you find yourself a little glad that you're able to at least get this far despite anything that may happen later.
It's a step in the right direction for your self-empowerment, a reminder that time can sometimes help repair the damage caused by traumatic events.
You're piling your groceries into the trunk of your car when you hear someone say your name.
Freezing in fear is a normal response for you, but once again, you do your best to breathe through it, and turn.
"Andrew? Hello," you greet.
Your former boss gives you a sharp smile and approaches. You take your time, assessing him as a possible threat.
He looks a bit sallow, the underneath of his eyes are a little grey, possibly with lack of sleep, a shadow of a beard sprouting on the base of his face.
He looks a bit unkempt, his hands in his pockets and you make sure to casually put your trolley between him and you for safety.
"You look like you're doing great." He says, taking in your piles of items, and then carefully looking at you.
You watch his eyes trail down your body and your head lights up with warning signs.
You smile politely, nodding your head.
"I'm fine, I hope you are too." You offer lightly, trying to finish packing your car as quickly as possible.
"Well, when you left, the everyone was counting on Anvil to accept our offer. When he declined, the board decided I wasn't good enough at my job."
You swallow. Is that was this was? A guilt trip?
"I'm sorry to hear that." You state calmly.
He takes a shaky step forward, and you stand your ground looking right at him. You think if he tried something, the shopping cart would come in handy in keeping him away from you.
"It's odd though, I keep playing my last meeting with Russo over and over in my head, and do you know what stood out to me?"
You don't respond.
"What stood out," he continues, "Is that Russo only wanted you."
So this was an accusation.
"Now why would he want someone like you, if you weren't fucking him?"
You press your teeth together angrily.
"Fuck. You." You grit out.
He blinks, having never seen you this angry before. You continue before he has the chance to speak.
"You think I wanted to leave? I left because you kept treating me like shit. Over and over again, and now you think you can come here and accuse me of this? No wonder you got fired when I left, because you couldn't keep taking credit for my work."
"You little bitch." He says taking another step forward until his body is right against the shopping cart. He grips the metal side of it, leaning forward even more in an attempt to get into your space.
"I vouched for you so many times. I'm the reason you got this job in the first place. You were nobody, nothing, until I decided to give you a chance. I've been watching you for a week now, trying to get you alone to talk to you, and you've been hooked to William Russo like dirt under his boot, and you want to tell me you aren't fucking him?"
You feel the fear of realization sink under your skin. Your stomach turns, making you nauseated.
"You've been following me?" You ask, in a much smaller voice than you want to.
He frowns, pushes away from the trolley and turns his back to you for a moment.
"Don't flatter yourself, I only wanted to talk."
He grits out.
You don't say anything, just watching his figure, trying to figure out how to get away from him.
You close your trunk, he watches you return your cart to the little docking station nearby.
"I'm sorry for the way things turned out." You say to him finally, trying to ease the tension.
He studies you for a long moment.
"You can fix this. Bring Russo back to us, they'll take you back, you can vouch for me like I once vouched for you."
"I'm not going to do that."
He grunts angrily, taking steps to approach you.
You back away, but he just keeps coming, he's almost in your personal space when suddenly a hand claps down on his shoulder.
The parking lot security guard looks very stern as he pulls Andrew a safe distance away from you.
"Is this man bothering you?" The security inquires in your direction.
You gulp, thinking that if you said 'yes,' you'd be forced to stand around here for longer.
"A bit, but I just want to leave." You finally say.
The guard nods, standing as a wall between Andrew and you, and you take the out, sliding into your car as fast as you can and reversing out of your park.
You don't look back.
.
'I don't suppose you could spare a moment to come over?' You send in his direction.
You swallow, turning your phone over in your hands, deep in thought.
You phone vibrates, you glance down.
'Be there in 5.'
"It's open." You say, when you hear a knock on the door.
He comes through slowly, no harsh sounds ever present when he's around.
"I know this building is safe, but you really should check before you let people in. What if that wasn't me?"
You don't answer, just staring at him as he locks the door behind him.
You sigh, your feet tucked under you as you lounge on your couch, your third glass of wine cupped securely in your hands.
You look up when he says your name.
You study him the same way he studies you. His hair is wet from a recent shower, but he's dressed comfortably this time, in black sweatpants and a soft green hoodie. He looks so comfortable, and the words 'boyfriend material' spring to mind, your mouth twitches, deep in thought, thinking about what he would say if you said that to him.
"Are you alright?" He asks after studying you.
You nod, taking another long sip of wine. He looks behind you, probably noting the abundance of unpacked groceries on your kitchen counter. You'd brought most of them up, only really worrying about the frozen and refrigerated items before you'd stopped, in favour of the sweet white you were now holding.
"Sometimes, I really hate the field I chose."
Billy looks at you for a moment, trying to read into you, but you know he doesn't have all the information.
"Why?" He asks, stepping forward and dropping into the spot beside you easily.
You rest your cheek on the back of the couch, looking up at him.
"It would be easier. I could have picked the culinary arts instead of this and no one would question if I was sleeping with my boss everytime I did something good."
"Someone accused you of that?" Billy asks evenly, doesn't take his eyes off of you.
You sigh, nodding, swirling your wine around in your little cup- not using a piece of glassware out of fear that you may break it.
"Andrew," You say softly to Billy, despair heavy in the farthes reaches of your mind.
"He followed me, confronted me, accused me, and then tried to bargain with me to come back."
You sigh, sniffling for a brief moment, fighting the pressure behind your eyes as tears pool.
You blink quickly to stop them from falling.
"He told me that I would be nothing without him. And all the way home I kept thinking that if I'd just picked something else, anything else, I might be a little bit happier."
A teardrop splashes into your wine, you wipe at it quickly.
He lets out a slow breath and you glance up at him in surprise, half realising that he's still here, watching you.
His dark eyes are tender, studying you in great detail before lifting a hand and crooking two fingers at you.
"Come here." Is all he says.
You breathe out a rush of air, knocking back the last two moutfuls of wine in your cup before setting the item on the little table in front of you.
You move slowly, giving him a chance to change his mind, leaning into him, and slowly resting your head into the crook of his neck.
His arms wrap around you, pulling you even closer until you're half seated in his lap.
There's just a rightness to being in his arms that finally breaks the dam inside of you. You let out a little sob, and his arms tighten around you as your body begins to shake as you cry.
"Sorry," you hiccup, "I- I'm sorry."
He shushes you softly, his cheek resting on the top of your head.
You feel small in his arms, a fragile thing made to be picked up and cared for and he very sensation makes you cry harder because it feels good, and you find yourself unable to gather the strength to think about pulling away from him. His scent is around you, his body pressed so tightly to yours that there's no gap between you.
There's a small abstract moment in your head, that you're able to identify a wholeness that wasn't there before.
You shiver, looking up at him with tear-stained cheeks, noting the feeling that you'd never realised you were missing something until he took you into his arms.
His thumbs wipe at your fresh tears, pushing them back, forcing them away.
You press your head back against his chest, shudders out a sigh as his arms go right back around you.
"There's so much I want to say," Billy starts, "I don't even know where too begin."
You sniffle.
"You don't have to." You murmur, hoping that he doesn't feel obligated to comfort you with his words.
You feel your head begin to swim as your third glass of wine begins to catch up to you.
"When I started Anvil, I had nothing." He says, his voice smooth and deep in your ear.
"There was me, and an idea, and I made a lot of questionable deals in order to get my company started."
You hear him swallow.
"There was one man, he believed that because he gave me a chance when no one else would, that he owned me. He treated me like his own personal dog, and for a couple of years, all I did was whatever he asked."
You listen intently, melting into him as he begins to rub circles into your lower back.
"It took me a while- longer than I'd care to admit- to understand that just because he helped me, it didn't mean I owed him everything. Sure, his generosity was appreciated, but it was my work that took Anvil off the ground, and seeing how far it's come, how far it has yet to go, and how much good it does makes it worthwhile for me."
He takes a moment to catch his breath.
"What I'm saying is, that you don't owe anyone a damn thing. Your successes are your own, because you did them." He makes a little sound of amusement at the back of his throat before continuing, "You're the secret ingredient."
You sniffle, smiling at his words.
"Andrew thinks he gave you these opportunities out of the goodness of his heart, but that's bullshit. You showed him who you were, and he picked you because he thought you were good at your job."
"And you?" You ask, desperate to hear it, "Why did you pick me?"
He makes a tiny huff of amusement.
"Because I love my company," You feel his face press into your hair, "And I wanted to give it the best chance, which is you."
You sigh, pressing yourself as close to him as possible, breathing in that amazing spiced scent, before relaxing fully, turning to a boneless mass in his arms.
"Thank you." You finally say to him.
He makes a deep sound in the back of his throat, you feel the vibration against your cheek.
He doesn't let go, and you have to motivation to pull away.
You're so at ease that you can't help closing your eyes, falling asleep in his arms without a second thought.
.
He holds you for a long while, a stupid smile on his face as he breathes in your strawberry scent.
When he's sure he won't wake you, he slips a hand under your knees, and stands with you in his arms.
You make a little sound, your arms wrapping tighter around his neck.
Billy takes his time, walking you to your bedroom, pulling the covers back and placing you down.
You don't let go of him, clinging like a koala, his eyes widen as you almost pull all of his body weight on top of yourself, he catches his weight on his arms before he crushes you.
He tries to pull away but you're not having it, maneuvering him in your sleep, until he's on his back, and your body is cradled against his, your head on his chest.
He lets out a breath of amusement, raising the hand that isn't pinned under you to stroke you hair.
He hears you hum in bliss and he smiles.
He wants to worship you so badly, kiss every inch of your skin, and then twice over for good measure.
He can't help it, pressing his thumb over the pout of your lips, his heart flipping when you draw even closer to him.
How can he pull himself away from you now? What kind of strength would that take?
Billy thinks about what would happen if he stayed right here beside you, if you wake up in the morning and find him here, you'd probably be so at ease.
He wanted that, he would probably kiss you at some point.
He can feel his heart racing as he thinks about it, kissing you breathless, giving you rounds of uninhibited pleasure, hearing you beg for him as if he would ever deny you.
But what about after?
He swallows, worried about after.
He wouldn't be able to keep himself away from you. Once, would never be enough.
He'd have to have you, over and over and over, never wanting to hide your relationship.
But that would make rumors true, it would invalidate your successes because you were sleeping with your boss.
The breath that escapes him is so pained that it takes him a second to take another.
He'd never forgive himself if he ruined your reputation that way.
He sighs, tracing the back of his hand over your cheeks and listening to the way you sigh.
He knew what you wanted, your body made it crystal clear everytime he was around you, calling out for him, and if he were a weaker man, he'd oblige.
His relationship with control was strained on a good day. The military had helped him focus his anger, train his rage and his bloodlust, but nothing had trained him to control his desire.
As Billy looked at you, sleeping in his arms, he felt his control grinding down with each breath you took.
It was only a matter of time.
.
Alone.
Again.
You sit up, taking a sad breath.
How did he always manage to slip away from you? Why?
What would it take to wake up next to him?
A question that goes unanswered.
In your kitchen, you're stunned to find that all your groceries have been packed away, only a few items in unfamiliar places. A warm feeling in your chest, you almost want to text him and thank him, except that you remember the last time you did that he left you on read. You decide to tell him in person when he's taking you to work.
You get dressed for work like usual, but when you're halfway ready, you pause, thinking about Dani's words from a few days ago.
In an effort to torment him, you shed your fancy work shirt and grab one of the work appropriate dresses in your closet.
It's sky blue, with half sleeves and matching belt. You're not sure if it will even catch his eye, but you decide to try anyway.
Except that when you step out of your aparment building, it's not Billy waiting for you.
You've seen Sergei around before, but you blink in surprise when he nods his head at you, and pulls open the back door of the car he's standing in front of.
Your heart plummets.
He'd sent someone else to pick you up.
You smile at Sergei, asking him for a moment before you pull your phone from your pocket and dial his number.
"Russo." Is what he says when he answers.
"Hey," You greet lightly, trying to be quick, "Did you send someone else to take me to work?"
He's silent for a moment.
"Yes, I-"
"Okay thank you," you interrupt, not interested in hearing what he had to say, "Just checking to make sure. Bye."
You end the call, staring at your phone for a second before shaking your head.
You turn to Sergei, giving him a smile and a word of thanks as you slide into the back seat of the car.
"Do you have any music preferences?" He asks kindly, and you wonder briefly if that was even in the scope of his job.
"Anything is good with me." You respond, crossing your arms and looking out the window angrily as he begins to drive.
You have many hindsight realisations on your way to work, that you really could have driven yourself. The only reason you were okay with Billy taking you is because he was going in the same direction anyway.
This just seemed like way too much time and effort to get you to work.
You try to make excuses for Billy, like maybe something urgent happened at work, or something personal, you didn't really know every aspect of his life now did you?
But you knew in the back of your head, that this was something he always does. He gets close, gives you blissful peace, and then pulls away, ignores you for a few days.
Frankly, you've hit your boiling point, and by the time you get to work, you're fuming.
You drop your things on your desk, and you give your coworker a big smile when she compliments your dress.
You'd worn it for him. Pathetic.
You make it up to his office, smiling at Katerina, his secretary, asking her if he's available and waiting for a yes before you knock on his door and enter when he says.
He doesn't even look up at you.
Taking notes at his desk, and there's just so much anger inside of you that you're not really thinking straight.
"Is there something you need?" He asks flatly, still not sparing you a single glance.
So he knows it's me, you think, and yet somehow he refuses to look up.
It cuts like betrayal.
"I can drive myself to work from now on, thank you."
He pauses, finally, looking up at you.
You watch him swallow.
"I insist, really, it's safer this way." He says.
"But inefficient," you counter, "To have Sergei go out of his way no doubt, when I have a perfectly good car."
He looks like he wants to argue, but can't form the right words.
He stands, eyebrows drawn, coming to stand in front of you.
It's probably a bad idea on his part, given your warped headspace, your eyes drop to his lips for a brief moment, before going back up to his dark eyes when he speaks.
"Very well, if you insist on driving, it's your choice."
You nod sharply, your throat closing up in despair. Was this the end of your friendship?
"Good." You say, no emotion in your tone, "One more thing."
"Yes?" He asks.
You swallow, grabbing the knot of his tie and pulling him down a little, while simultaneously rising onto your toes.
You don't give it a second thought, pressing your mouth to his.
It's like fireworks going off in your head, sparks spilling over and scattering into the farthest reaches of your mind.
You let out a little sigh of bliss into his mouth before releasing your grip on his tie.
You pull back from his mouth, taking a deep breath to apologise when suddenly his hands are on your hips. You feel the way his fingers twitch, as if he's fighting something bigger than you.
You gasp as he pulls you closer, body pressed tightly to his and you look up into his eyes.
He angles his head down, and his mouth is on yours once more.
He returns the kiss this time, with eager hums and steady pressure. It's greater than any other kiss you've ever experienced.
Your chest feels warm, your stomach flips, sizzling sparks work their way over your skin.
Your hands grip his shoulders, snaking their way up behind his neck.
He groans, hot breath into your parted mouth and you accept the sound greedily, more desperate for him than ever before.
He turns you, presses you up against his desk, braces his arms on either side of you for a moment before his hand cups the back of your neck securely.
It's all consuming, the way his mouth moves this way and that, the friction of his beard on your chin the taste of his mouth threatening to undo you.
His blunted fingers pressing tight into your skin, his hands wander your body, reaching for your knee, raising it to wrap around his hip. Your clothed center just barely brushes a hint of stiffness at the front of his pants and all you're thinking in various levels of enthusiasm is 'yes.'
The loud pitch of his ringing phone startles you. You shove him away quickly in surprise, gasping as you slide from your spot between him and his desk.
Your body is hot, cunt throbbing, skin hypersensitive and aching for his hands.
You suck in a big breath, smoothing your hair over in a panicked frenzy and running your hands down your dress.
Oh God.
Oh God.
Had you really just did that? Kissed him when you'd come in here to tell him off?
You try to take another measured breath but Billy seems to have taken all the air in the room with just one touch of his lips.
.
"Russo." Billy says, leaning over the desk, putting his phone on loudspeaker.
"Apologies for interrupting, but Miss Meachum is here and demanding to meet."
Billy huffs, of course he'd be interrupted by a Meachum. The entire family never understood boundaries.
He looks over at you, facing the windows, taking deep breaths and looking more and more flustered by the second.
"Tell her I'll be with her shortly." He says, hanging up right after.
He studies you, the ripe scent of your arousal filling the air. The panther tears at him, to sit you on his desk and follow through with exactly what he was about to do.
When he resists, the beast plants images of you writhing in pleasure as he licks your strawberry sweet cunt. His cock is half-hard, growing more erect with each second his mind replays what it was like to finally have your soft lips on his.
He swallows, opens his mouth to speak.
You beat him to it.
"I'll drive myself to work from now on." You utter harshly.
He watches in disbelief, mouth parted, as you head to the door, opening it and stepping out without so much as a glance at him.
It's all he needs to realize how much he's fucked up.

A/N: sorry 😞

The sun was finally shining bright after several dreary days. You decided that this would be the best day to start working on your tiny balcony oasis. You had moved into your new fourth floor apartment in New York City about six and a half months ago. After months of saving, you were able to finally buy the cute decor items that you had your eye on for so long.
Your new three-piece cushioned black wicker patio set had just arrived. You had gone to some of the small local shops and found some fake plants and ceramic jars that varied in sizes and shapes. To accent the entire scene that you had envisioned was a large navy blue and white mosaic outdoor rug.
After carrying everything out of the sliding glass door and onto the terrace, you took a step back and leaned against the railing to picture where you would put everything.  Finally, after about an hour of moving things around, you had finished.
“Phew!” you exclaimed as you sat down in one of your new chairs and wiped the sweat from your forehead.
As you sat, you watched the sun go down behind all the tall buildings. The city lights were getting brighter as the sky darkened, and you looked around to take everything in. You had only been outside three or four times because of the cold weather so this was the first time that you had been able to actually enjoy an evening outside. You were noticing things that you hadn’t yet and it intrigued you.
Your red brick apartment building has five floors and is in the shape of a big U. So as neighbors were opening curtains, or turning on lights, you would glance in their direction just to be nosey and see what was going on and who lived where.  On the second floor, you could see an older woman watering her plants in her kitchen window. A middle aged man lived on the third floor in a corner apartment. He was in his living room watching football. The lights suddenly turned on in the apartment across from yours. You quickly glanced to watch and see what would appear.
“Holy shit.” You said aloud to yourself when you saw the man walk up to his glass door and peer out.
You couldn’t stop staring at him. He was gorgeous. Tall, slender built, and dark brown hair that was styled back neatly. He had a black suit and tie on. He loosened his tie as he stood looking out into the distance.
He stood still for a few minutes, then turned and walked out of view. You took a deep breath in and decided that you’d go inside for the night. You walked into the kitchen and poured yourself a glass of Chardonnay. Then, you went into the living room and plopped yourself down on the couch.
A few hours and three glasses of wine later, you had fallen asleep on your couch while watching Grey’s Anatomy. Around 3:30 in the morning, You were jolted awake from the nightmare that you were having.
“It was just a dream! It was just a dream!” you kept saying to yourself over and over as you sat up trying to calm down.
You felt like your heart was going to pound out of your chest. As you stood up, you turned off the television and walked your glass into the kitchen where you placed it in the sink. You looked over to the glass door and saw that you hadn’t shut the curtains yet. You walked over to pull the curtains, but when you looked out and over to the windows across from you, you saw the man from earlier now just in black boxers staring straight at you.
You let out a gasp and hurried to pull the curtains closed. Shit! Did he see me earlier? How long has he been standing there looking in my windows? These thoughts were racing through your head as you hurriedly made your way to your bedroom.
As you laid down in bed, you kept thinking of him. His gorgeous hair, those dark eyes, and that undeniably sexy body. You started to feel a bit of a tingling sensation, but snapped out of your thoughts quickly. You literally just got out of a relationship! Granted it was awful, but still! Plus, you don’t even know this guy!
The next morning, you woke up and got ready for the day. You grabbed your computer bag, and headed out the door to the little coffee shop on the corner. You love this tiny cafe and do your work there every day as you eat and drink your usual duo. A lemon blueberry scone and an iced caramel macchiato with cold foam.
You have become one of the regulars, so every morning when you walk in, the barista has your meal ready for you. Then, you sit in the same back corner booth and begin work. You work for a marketing firm out of California, so your job is completely virtual, which you absolutely love. You don’t like going out in public very often, and when you do, you try to go when you see that there aren’t many people. However, living in New York City made that a bit more challenging, but you're adjusting.
“Need a refill?” one of the waitresses and now your friend, Johanna says with a big smile on her freckled face.
You looked up at Johanna and smiled as you replied, “Absolutely! I think today is going to be a long one.”
“You got it!” Johanna said as she spun around and twisted her curly red hair up into a bun on the top of her head.
The bell rang and someone new walked in. Not many people frequent this small establishment, so when the high pitched noise rang out through the air, you looked up curiously to see who it was that came inside. Your heart felt like it skipped a beat. It was him. The man from the window.
You sat back quickly and tried to hide in the booth, but it didn’t work very well. He spotted you and gave you a smile. Then, he ordered his coffee and left. A huge sigh of relief left you when he walked out. You had no idea what you would say to him if he approached you. You were a hot mess when it came to talking to guys.
Over the past few months, you had tried to meet someone. You thought it would help you move on from your ex-boyfriend Spencer faster. You quickly learned just how awkward you are and how awful you are at conversations. You had been on three dates so far and every one of them ghosted you after the first night. It was only a dinner date, and yet somehow you had managed to run them off every time.
“OH. MY. GOD! Girl, did you see how hot that guy was?!” Johanna said as she handed you your new drink.
You stared at her for a moment and then giggled, “yes, I saw him.”
Johanna sat down across from you and started talking so fast, “I could barely even speak! Ugh! Could you imagine being with someone like him?!”
“Yeah, it definitely would be interesting!” You laughingly replied and then let out a long sigh, “I should probably get going. I’ve finished my work for the day. It wasn’t as bad as I thought after all.” You started packing up everything and slid out of the booth.
“Okay! Will I see you tomorrow?” Johanna replied as you stood.
“Maybe!” You said in a high tone as you made your way to the door, “See you later!”
You made it home and flopped down onto the couch. You couldn’t stop thinking of the guy across from you, but then all of those thoughts were interrupted when your phone dinged from a notification. You grabbed your phone from your pocket and opened up the screen. It was a Facebook notification about memories that you had from two years ago.
You immediately felt sick to your stomach. You knew that all of your past memories included Spencer. You decided to swipe the notification away without opening it and laid your phone facedown on the coffee table. Those memories were a thing of the past and that’s where they needed to stay. You were tired of anything and everything dredging up things and reminding you of the life you used to live. It’s time to move on.
