Part 4

You had woken up from the sunlight hitting your eyes from your bedroom and you could smell breakfast cooking downstairs. On cue, your stomach growled and you got up to go eat. As you left your room and walked down the hallway, you bumped into your brother who had just stepped out of his room.

“Oh sorry Shoto.” You apologised, sleep still blinding your vision.

“It’s okay.” He replied. The two of you were the same height at the age of 8. Now you walked downstairs to eat together.

“What did dad teach you yesterday?” You asked him.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” He always said that whenever you asked him. You wanted to know what his training was like, what it was like to have dad, a pro hero, train you. He was able to control his quirk much better than you could, there would be times where you would get too excited and let out small squirts of water from your hands.

You often felt as if Shoto was trying to keep you away from his training, as if he wanted to keep it a secret so that only he could improve and you couldn’t. Though you would then think that he would never think about excluding you like that. He was your brother and your friend. He wouldn’t want you to fail but then why would he not tell you about training?

You weren’t blind, you could see how tired he would be after training, how exhausted he would be that sometimes he could not even walk but you were told that your brother was fine. He was okay and you did not have to worry. So you didn’t. If everyone around you kept telling you that “Shoto is fine.”, “He is just tired” and, “Go play outside and let him rest” then why would you? You were a kid. A kid who did not know any better. A kid whose older siblings shielded from the harsh truth of their family.

The two of you had made it downstairs and saw your older sister cooking.

“Morning!” She greeted the two of you.

“Fuyumi!” You went up to her and gave her a hug while Shoto sat himself down on a chair. Your sister returned the hug and you then wen to join shoto by the table. You both ate your breakfast while talking about your day, well, it was mostly you rambling on about what you did at school yesterday while Shoto hummed and nodded.

“I wish you could come to school with me Shoto, then I could introduce you to my friends!”

“Dad wouldn’t like that.” Shoto mumbled.

“Yeah that’s true.” You looked down at your plate and then back up at your brother. His cheeks and forehead had gone a slight blush pink and his eyes were dopey. It was now that you noticed that he had not touched much of his food on his plate.

“Are you feeling okay shoto?” You asked him.

“Hmm…”

You looked back at your older sister who looked back at Shoto with concern. She made her way over to you both and she put her hand against his forehead.

“You’re burning up Shoto.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t go to train today.” You tell him. At your words his eyes widened and he shook his head.

“No. Can’t do that!”

“But why? You aren’t feeling well you know.”

“I can’t do that.” He repeated himself. His grip on his chopsticks tightened.

Fuyumi shook her head. “I’ve had enough. I’ll talk to dad and I’ll tell him to give you a day off.”

“Tell me what?”

The three of you turned around to look at the towering figure of your father. He looked down at all three of you with a dark scowl on his face. From just hearing his voice alone made you shiver. You were so pumped up to fight your dad alongside your older sister to get him to let Shoto off for one day but upon hearing him your resolve was already shaken.

Though your older siblings did try their best to keep you from the horrid truth of your family, they could not shield you from everything. They could only make up so many excuses. This meant that even you have witnessed your father’s range. You’ve seen him abuse your mother, you’ve even seen him abuse your own brother. However, your mind seemed to block out those memories, so if anyone from outside the family were to ask you questions, you would simply answer as anyone would expect a normal kid from a normal family to answer. Yet there would be times like this were you would suddenly be reminded that you aren’t a normal kid from a normal family.

Maybe this will become a blocked a memory too.

“Dad, Shoto isn’t feeling well, he really isn’t in any condition to train-”

“Are you not feeling well?” He asked Shoto. His voice lacked sympathy that a concerned father would have, instead it sounded like a threat. A threat with the underlying words ‘say the answer I want to hear or else’.

“n-no, I’m fine.” Shoto muttered out.

“No he is not!” Fuyumi spoke out. You didn’t dare look at your father the entire time, keeping your eyes down on your plate but you did see when your older sister slammed her hands down onto the table to show that she is right. Though you had always admired her for being able to protest against your father, you could see her hands shake as she struggled to not back out and let your father have his way.

“He said he is. Shoto, hurry up and get to training.” Enji looked down at his son who nodded his head. He was about to turn around walk away when his youngest daughter caught his eye. He looked at her as she sat completely still, not having said a word since he walked into the room. He scoffed at her and walked away.

Even as he left the room, Y/n didn’t say anything and the twins ate their breakfast in silence. When Shoto left to go train, Y/n didn’t say anything. Instead she quietly went to get ready to go to school and by the time she came back from school she had forgotten everything that had happened in the morning.

This game of pretend that you played where you had pretended that everything at home was fine ended a year before you joined UA. That was when you had began to accept the fact that you aren’t okay and neither is your family. However, by then you and Shoto had already became so distant with each other that you did not know how to get closer to him again.

But ever since that night when you went down to the kitchen to get milk, you and Shoto were back on good terms. You’ll admit, it did get awkward between you both sometimes, after all it had been so long since you both bothered to learn more about each other’s likes and dislikes so most of your information about each other was outdated.

However, it is not like you both weren’t putting in any effort to get to know each other again. Soon enough you both had become someone you both could lean back on when you weren’t mentally feeling all that great. You were each other’s vent buddies and though you both always were siblings you were now friends too.

Your classmates could see the difference between you both as well, you had began acting like your usual loud, bubbly self and Shoto was now not ‘half assing’ his training.

Weeks passed and along with your classmates, you were able to take on the adventurous life of being a teenager.

When work experience came around again, you opted to not stay with Endeavour and you applied to go intern with another agency. Which was the agency with Kamui Wood, he was a relatively new pro hero and he wasn’t exactly looking for an intern but you both had natural elemental quirks so he agreed to have you as his intern. Shoto understood your decision but told you that he would be staying there since he could still get valuable training there and he said that father is a bit more tolerable now. It was a day later that he told you that Midoriya and Bakugo would be joining him to intern at Endeavour’s agency.

There was a time where them four were on patrol and their route overlapped with the patrol route that you and the pro hero you interned with, Kamui Wood, took. You gave the boys a wave and avoided eye contact with your father so you didn’t have to talk or wave at him. Kamui Wood did try to pry and ask why you didn’t want to intern with your father when he was the number 1 hero.

“Heck, even your classmates are interning with him.”

“I don’t want to overuse his name to get what I need.” You lied.

The pro hero sighed, he could tell that wasn’t the real reason but if you didn’t want to tell him then he respected that.

“Whatever it is, don’t let it get in the way of what is best for you.” He advised.

You just nodded your head and continued on with patrol.

Later in the afternoon you got a text message from your sister saying that she wanted you to come over and have dinner at home. You were about to turn her down before she said that Shoto and his friends were coming over and she needed the whole family there. You love her, you really do but she can be dramatic at times.

So you ended up showing up after your day with Kamui Wood ended. When you got to the door, you saw Midoriya’s red shoes along with your brother’s, father’s and Bakugo’s. Great so when you walk in, you’ll be the centre of attention. Bakugo and Midoriya had only ever seen you as a cheerful and bubbly person. You can’t ever bring yourself to act like that when your father is there. You just hope that those two would be so distracted by the food or another conversation to even notice you being so quiet.

You took a deep sigh before walking in. As you got closer to the living room you could hear your sister and your classmates talking.

“I’m sure Y/n will be here soon. She had texted me a few minutes ago saying she will be here soon.”

“Well she sure is taking her sweet time.”

“Kacchan!”

You mentally prepared yourself and slid the door open.

“I’m here.” You put on a small smile.

“Y/n!” Your sister walked over to you and gave you a hug. You smiled fully and hugged her back. “Come sit down with us.”

You greeted everyone and you smiled at your older brother Natsuo who was also there. It had been a while since you saw him. You simply gave your father a nod and looked down at the table in front of you.

It didn’t take long before everyone sat in an awkward silence.

God you really don’t want to be here. You just which you could teleport to your dorm room immediately or if the ground could just swallow you whole.

Hello! Just wanted to say that your writing helped motivate me to get back into writing as well. I was writing stuff before but they were not full on fanfics like yours. But after reading the first 3 chapters of your fanfic and talking to a motivating friend, I'm now writing my own fic. Of course I'm not copying your ideas, I would never! But I want to say thank you :)

And take your time writing the next part, it takes time to create a good story. So don't feel like you have to rush, I'm sure many would wait as long as it takes to read the 6th part.

📝: I’m reporting live from the ER so I need something to keep me entertained. 😭 this is so dumb, forgive me.

the sound of clicking keys and controllers rang out over the headsets, among the loud laughter and chatter coming from those wearing them. The four illustrious artists, EJ the Don, Armin Hammer, Prince Cee and Ony The God; forming the collective known as Dead Boys Society were normally coming together to perform their many hits, or even comprise music. But tonight? They had a whole other reason..or two rather!

“Tell your mama’s story, bitch. Ain’t nothing to talk about.”

on one of the very rare occasions that the gentleman accrued some free time, they decided to host a Twitch stream. Playing video games, previewing new music and just having a good time. That was until they decided to bring them out…the infamous photos.

Ony, who was in full blown hysterics, falling out of his chair in laughter as he hoisted his phone to the camera. He could barely even be contained. “Look at this nigga, bro! You couldn’t tell him shit.” And the others followed suit. “Malibu’s Most Wanted looking ass.” Armin was just in hysterics, trying to cover his face. Eren, however was not as enthused! “Say sum’, Armin. I dare you and I’m going dead in your shit when I see you again.” “Don’t get mad at me because you were the mall whore. Getting passed around.” Which was so ironic coming from him! Because during the stream, the conversation of their previous lives and how they met came about. Ony divulged that he and Connie had known each other a long time and even went to school together. The pair played basketball as well. When they were seventeen, they began working at the Bayside Mall in a shoe store. Which is where they met EJ, who had just enrolled at their high school as well. The three became really close and eventually that they not only shared an affinity for sneakers but music also. They’d compose songs, make beats and mess around during their shift. When the three of them worked together, the store was packed to the brim, even with a line out the door. Due in part to their main attraction: the cute boy from Jersey with the green eyes and the voice of angel. At any given time, there would R&B and rap playing and he would know every word. Definitely a rarity in the urban area! Connie, who vividly remembered him wanting to be in the stock room but the manager insisting on Eren being on the floor. Thanks to Ony’s suggestion! Because of that, every girl from here to Opa Locka wanted a piece, even telling him they wanted his baby! It was utter chaos. “(Y/N), ma. I’m sorry but your man had hoes. In there serenading them girls and they used to eat that shit up. They loved him. He had like three baby mamas and four step kids before he left.” Rolling his eyes, Eren would take a sip of his drink and try to interject. Defending his honor because lord knows no one else would! “Nah, they were trying to exploit me. Pimping me out for corporate gain. Bunch of bastards.” And (y/n) was just enjoying this little storytime of your man. Exposing his younger self. So when Ony showed the photos of him in his uniform with a gold chain, a tapered fade and Nikes on, posing with his fingers up, you couldn’t help but to laugh. He was just as adorable then as he was now! It most certainly wasn’t his proudest moment. Hence why he loved having hair long now.

“A white boy with a fade singing Pretty Ricky and Trey Songz and you thought we wasn’t gon’ put that nigga front and center? That was our meal ticket. We had to do something.”

and you fell clean over, unable to hold it together! Along with the chat who was spamming a plethora of ‘LMAO’ ‘s and scrambled letters. A mess! “If it means anything, baby. I think you look handsome.” Squeezing his cheeks and cooing to him as consolation. And he was not trying to hear it.

“It don’t mean shit, but thank you, princess.”

He blocked everybody that night and refused to give you any dick for a week straight because of this lil’ escapade. 😭 “I thought shit was funny, what happened?”

Let's Fight

Neteyam and his twin always look out for their siblings. Ready to jump in headfirst when they’re needed. Reader had four fingers on one hand and three on the other. (Original idea from @armins-main-hoe Odd Socks series)

“Hey Neteyam.” Y/N calls to her twin. “I bet I can beat you in an ilu race.” “No way.” Neteyam smiles. “I’m clearly the better rider.” “Let’s put it to the test.” She challenges. They discuss the path of the race then call their ilus. Neteyam started strong, able to move nimbly in the water and block Y/N so she couldn’t pull ahead. But at a sharp turn Y/N was able to cut Neteyam off, sending him flying off his startled ilu. With that Y/N was able to pull ahead and win the race. “Who’s the better rider?” Y/N beams when Neteyam comes to the surface. “Come on brother, say it.” “No fair.” Neteyam pouts. “You cut me off.” “You’re just mad at my skills.” Y/N laughs. “How about a rematch. I’d love to kick your ass again.” “You’re on and this ti-” Neteyam looked off in the distance. “What are you looking at?” Y/N questions looking in the same direction. She sees her younger brother, Lo’ak, surrounded by Ao’nung and his friends. Immediately the twins rushed to his aid. They were yanking at his tail and hands while insulting him.” “Look at his baby tail!” “Four-fingered freak!” “You’re not real Na’vi!” Neteyam rushed up to Ao’nung and pulled him by the shoulder so they were facing each other while Y/N went to check on their siblings. “Are you hurt?” she asks looking over both of them. “We’re fine.” Kiri answers quietly. “You heard what they said.” Neteyam growled. “Leave them alone.” “Oh big brother coming to- '' Ao'nung's friend was cut off when Ao’nung put his hand up to silence him. “Back. Off. Now.” Neteyam threatens. Kiri sticks out her tongue while Y/N hisses back. Together the Sully siblings turn to leave. But of course the group couldn’t help but whisper about them being freaks. “Especially the twin with the weird hands.” one giggles.

This causes Lo’ak to stop in his tracks and turn back to the group. “Lo’ak.” the twins say warningly with their tails going up. “I got this.” Lo’ak says calmly walking back to the group.

He faces Ao’nung and starts to play with his pinky. Saying that Y/N’s hands may not match but he’s were definitely weird. It was such a freaky thing. Y/N looks at her twin and they share a worried look. Lo’ak balls his hand into a fist and BAM! He punched Ao’nung right in the face, sending him to the ground. “It’s called a punch bitch.” he says. “Never talk about my sisters again.” Next thing they know Ao’nung is back on his feet and tackling Lo’ak to the ground. As Lo’ak tries to get the upper hand one of the boys start to pull him by his tail. “You stay here.” Neteyam says joining the fight. “Like hell I am.” Y/N says joining the chaos as well. “Stop!” Kiri yells. “Stop it!” But that didn’t stop her sibling from throwing punches and kicks to the other kids. Lo’ak was being pulled by his tail. Neteyam had a boy under him and punched the boy in the face. Even Y/N had her opponent in a headlock. Ao’nung and his friends may be good warriors but they were no match for the kids of Toruk Makto.

a/n these headcannons will be based off the little cottage that the levi squad stayed in near the beginning of season 3! i need some fluff to get over how traumatic the series finale was for me 😪

like i was actually a wreck, it was stupid sad.

✧ despite his intimidating facade, levi took such joy in preparing meals for the group. it was his way of keeping himself at bay amidst all the stress of their ongoing mission.

✧ he’s totally a flower arranger too, sand sets a different bouquet for each meal. He won’t admit he’s fond of such decorations but to be safe: never set the table without his stylish approval 👀

✧ it’s possible that erens main solution to impressing his captain was through cleaning, but gradually he became a neat freak to the rest of the squad.

✧ walked outside your room past curfew? immediate complaint… even Levi starts to get ticked off.

✧ living in this kind of aesthetic really bonded armin and historia’s relationship with each other. as she began to show her true colors, armin was first to embrace her thoughts and worries with open arms

✧ i feel like they also grew to share many hobbies together? reading a book of their choice under a tree each afternoon became one of their favorite pastimes.

✧ the cottage was sooo compact to the point where a huge argument erupted between the scouts over not having enough beds for everyone.

✧ ultimately the conclusion that two people needed to share the guest bedroom was agreed upon, but armin and eren were actually so okay with the idea of sleeping together it freaked jean and connie out a bit

✧ so much that they both ended up volunteering to share the bed in their place??

biggest mistake ever.

✧ connie is a sleep puncher, and jean’s a sleep kicker, trying to impress whoever’s in his dreams (i’m sure we can all guess) that he’s a crime fighting badass.

Notices as soon as the guy has his eyes on you, notices how the man walks up to you with confidence.

He doesn’t even need to say anything to the man, he knows you can handle yourself.

He watches you easily dismiss the man after telling him about your boyfriend but in situations where the guy still refuses to leave, that’s when Armin comes in.

He will go all protective boyfriend and easily move close to your side.

You would on instinct lean into his side and just show how great your relationship was, Armin wouldn’t even say anything.

You’d both just stare at the guy as Armin’s hand travels to your side.

It would make him so uncomfortable, but Armin isn’t one to let down a fight, but he'll prevent one from occurring.

You both find it easier to get rid of people who try to flirt with you both by just making them uncomfortable with your presence.

Can’t lie your whole group finds it a blessing sometimes as they get left alone by weirdos as well.

He would definitely be the type to just watch and stare at the guy who is flirting with you, very calm and collected.

Acts cautiously and isn’t rash in his decisions, he trusts you of course he does.

But when he sees the guy getting a little too close to his girl that’s when he takes a swig of his drink, placing it down as he walks with malice to you both.

“He making you uncomfortable, baby.”

Simple words, something to show that you’re his, will grab your waist in a matter of seconds, probably grab your ass as well and make sure you know that he’s going to fuck you later on.

Definitely gets handsy with you, I feel like the guy who tried flirting with you would just be so awkward standing there as Eren moves his mouth to the crook of your neck, kissing and nibbling at your skin.

The guy and any other guy definitely leave you alone afterwards.

The man, the myth, the legend would just be another observer, he’d watch quietly, not make a move as he hears the shitty pick-up line.

He knows you can handle it but as soon as he sees the guy get a little too close to his s/o he can’t help but pounce into the action.

“You ready to leave, tch! Who’s this brat?”

He’d disregard the man after asking who he was, instead just grabbing your hand to get you out of the situation.

Levi would start a fight; I know he would but for the sake of not breaking the guys bones and getting arrested he’d rather just leave with you.

I swear the brats cannot handle Levi calling them a brat and Levi will end up in a fight, like he’s so composed but as soon as he sees the guy try and grab your ass.

Levi will pounce on the man and the man will either fight back or as soon as Levi gets a punch in, they’d leave themselves afraid of getting hurt even more.

He really does just want you to be safe but also he can sometimes hear you shouting for him to kick the guys teeth when he’s beating up some guy who tried to touch you.

reiner braun

He’s stupid I’m sorry like he’s smart but so stupid.

Doesn’t realise someone is flirting with you until Porco mentions how handsy the guy is getting with you.

That’s when Reiner finally gets into action, definitely the type to be a bit awkward when he walks up to you and the guy who has his hand on your shoulder.

“Who’s this, babe?”

He’d be calm about it though, wouldn’t push the guys hand away and instead just beckon for you to move closer to him so the guy doesn’t get suspicious of any jealousy that has arisen.

Reiner would go all protective after you’re in his arms, his arm against your waist as you lean into his side.

The guy just stares as you aren’t able to speak after the very uncomfortable situation.

“If that’s all, we’ll be going.”

He refuses to let the guy even speak, just wants you safe and secure and doesn’t want any trouble with the guy.

He isn’t one to pursue fights and I feel like he’d want your safety to be his main priority then a petty argument because he doesn’t need to fight a man for your love, when he already has it.

Shingeki no Kyojin Headcanons: 104th training corps (College AU - Outfits pt I)

Hello, Postmodernbeing here. I decided to continue writing about this College AU , only this time, I'm making some outfits HCs, since I'm working in a oneshot and this visuals could be helpful. Also, it seemed like a lot of fun so I've decided to give it a try. Hope y'all like this. Much love.

IMPORTANT: I do not own Shingeki no Kyojin nor the trend of this outfits-displays, only this HCs belong to me. // Contains spoilers (for the icons that I used in some characters) // English is not my first language, so I ask for your patience and understanding.

Eren Yeager

Chains and rings of stainless-steel. Combat boots matching faux-leather jackets with studs and pins from bands.

Has a few flannel shirts (that he stole from Zeke, his brother doesn't mind, tho). But for the most part, Eren's shirts are from merch of bands with a few (handmade) changes.

Eren likes to sew badly on purpose some patterns or figures by following quick tutorials. All his clothes are modified or drawn over.

While his main looks are metal head alike, he also wears snickers, hoodies, sporty pants, and jackets to class. Pretty laid back, he looks as he just woke up from a nap all the time tbh.

Sometimes goes skating but he’s not that good, his skateboard is more of a fashion statement really.

Has both ears pierced around (lobe type) and tattoos on both arms.

It’s pretty obvious to this point, but I’ll say it anyways: Eren wears black religiously. Definitely he’s open to darker shades of any color, but must wear something black at least.

Mikasa Ackerman

Our girl wears black clothes mostly. She doesn’t have a preference between skirts/dresses or pants, but you’ll rarely see her wearing jeans.

Many skirts and ripped tights to match with platform boots or classic converse. Also owns a large wardrobe with different hoodie and shirt sizes and designs yet mostly in dark shades.

Lots of necklaces and rings with perforations to match, none in her face yet lots in her ears. Mikasa has only one tattoo: Azumabito’s clan logo.

Speaking about Azumabito’s, whenever she’s working with them, she wears faux leather jackets at most, and her classic red turtleneck. Nothing too exaggerated nor formal.

A total goth since middle school, and even though in college finds it a bit unpractical, she tries to keep it as loyal to her style as possible.

Books and notebooks are part of her attires. She’d be writing or reading at any time that’s possible. Not always about her classes, tho. She also likes novels and arts. An artsy goth, perhaps?

Armin Arlert

Sky blue is his color. Matching it with classy pants and blazers in clear colors.

His wardrobe looks like one that belongs to an aristocrats’ son. Some light-academia realness.

He can pull off some casual looks with sneakers but it’s more common for him to wear his oxfords, cap toes or moccasins to class, or anywhere really.

Cardigans, vests and blazers are his best friends as soon as autumn arrives. Always in colors such as beige, green, brown, and grey.

Armin is easily the best dressed from all his group of friends, and I’m not even open to discuss this. Let’s just remember his canon outfits throughout the four seasons. Even in a Modern AU he’ll keep being the king he is.

Not a big fan of accessories though. Except for his handkerchiefs that match his blazers. Since his grandfather used to choose his clothes, he taught Armin that a handkerchief was a gentleman’s must carry. Now he wears them only to pay his grandpa honor, as a lesson more so.

Jean Kirstein

King of brown jackets and turtlenecks. Really, his wardrobe is in such color harmony. It’s impressive.

Little to no accessories besides an occasional scarf or a single ring matching some bracelet.

Although he’s used to wear a consistent type of clothes and even colors, he wouldn’t dare to define a style for himself, is it boho? art hoe? dark academia? Maybe we’ll never know.

Zero perforations only because he’s scared of pain, but Jean is really drawn into them, so he uses fake ones for his ears sometimes. Has only one little hidden tattoo, made when he started college and lost a bet against Sasha and Connie.

Jean’s always stylish, clean, and smelling like cologne. He also has an extensive routine for shaving, combing his hair and trimming his beard.

Second best dressed of all his friends. Lowkey loves fashion but keeps it for himself (and Marco). Plus, in her mother’s house he keeps more clothes than his dorm' wardrobe can storage.

Marco Bodt

Colorful, youthful, and casual, that’s his style. Marco’s clothes reflect his joyful personality and every time he enters a room, he brightens the mood so easily.

A lot of denim and if he’s not wearing bright colors, you can be sure he’s caring something white with him (a bandana, a baseball cap, a scarf or his sneakers).

Shares with Jean a special appreciation for clothing, except Marco prefers more laidback and casual outfits.

Has no tattoos but recently got both ears pierced. He decided to since he really likes the earrings that k-pop idols wear.

If spring was a wardrobe, Marco would have it. I can’t stress this enough. Just so pretty and genuine.

Also, he definitely uses accessories (small jelly or colorful rings, bracelets of all kinds and simple necklaces) but there's more, he uses objects that are not meant to as accessories too. Such as band aids and small stickers around his face, skates in his backpack and flowers in his pockets.

Sasha Blouse

Unironically messy style. No matching patterns nor colors, different textures and sizes that made little to no coordination in her outfits. Unaesthetic is her aesthetic.

She likes baggy jackets and jeans with big pockets for snacks obviously, midi-skirts and graphic tees. Sasha is the definition of zero fucks given and still looking cute.

Of course, she knows how to pull off some cool outfits, it’s just that she doesn’t care that much unless is specifically required.

Not a big fan of accessories besides belts (maybe) and her backpack. Unless we’re talking about bucket hats that became a must wear thanks to Connie.

“Borrows” Nicolo’s hoodies/shirts that wears with her favorite threads. Then plays dumb when her bf asks her about his clothes. They both secretly love that dynamic.

Sasha plays it safe when it's about her hairstyle, also not a big fan of makeup -at least not the way Mikasa or Historia do-, but she’s open to try new things if her best friends dare her to.

Connie Springer

King of striped shirts and golden chains. His style is mainly urban and youthful. Conniegod remains unmatched in his awesomeness even in a Modern AU, if you ask me.

Owns a collection of sneakers that wears with his numerous printed socks. So creative and colorful.

Also, Connie has a small collection of unique shaped tinted glasses, also bucket hats and simple stainless steel chains.

Has small fun tattoos around his legs and arms, ears pieced but nothing too grunge. Speaking of which, he matches religiously his earrings with his chains that hang of his belt.

Usually wears dress pants or cargo pants. Anything but denim or really skinny fitted pants. Coincidentally, most of his shirts are loose too.

Definitely brings his skateboard with him all the time so it’s part of the outfit, really (Eren tried to copy that from Connie, let’s be honest). He’s so good at skating, and when he doesn’t feel like walking around campus, skating is always a good idea.

WHICH MOMENT AT LEVI AND ZEKE’S LOCATION WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 155 responses

Levi and Zeke had more than a few moments in this episode, so we asked you which one of those was your favorite. The definitive majority (60.6%) stated that they clearly preferred the scene of Levi lamenting the deaths of his comparades in pursuit of saving Eren over the years. A noted minority (21.9%) also seemed to enjoy the scene of Zeke telling Levi that he must not be popular or the scene wherein the truth about Ragako is revealed (8.4%). Levi accusing Zeke of being guiltless or learning about Eren’s escape from prison garnered less praise.

WHICH MOMENT INVOLVING FALCO, GABI, THE BLOUSE FAMILY AND NICOLO WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 155 responses

That being said (previous question), the majority (plurality?) of the episode was taken up by the second part of Gabi’s Bizarre Adventure. As such, we also decided to ask you which of those moments was your favorite. The plurality (44.5%) gave their preference to seeing Mr. Blouse deescalate the situation. In second place (16.8%) we had Nicolo revealing the truth about the wine. Closely behind, 16.1% stated that they most appreciated seeing Gabi and Falco find Nicolo in the restaurant cellar. Finally, 12.9% enjoyed seeing Nicolo and Gabi argue. The rest of the options (Kaya suspecting a romantic relationship, the Blouse Family enjoying Nicolo’s food and the Blouse kids calling Gabi a bumpkin) didn’t garner as much fanfare.

Mr. Blouse's line about the children in the forest is one my favorite lines in the whole story, and this is such a major turning point for Gabi—I'd been looking forward to this episode, and it did not disappoint!

Papa Blouse is wisest man in this universe, prove me if I’m wrong!

WHICH MOMENT INVOLVING THE SURVEY CORPS WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 154 responses

A fair bit of the episode was also taken up by the Survey Corps doing their own investigating. We also asked what your favorite moment from those segments was your favorite. 45.5%, a plurality, stated that it was Eren showing up and telling AM that he wanted to talk. Another relatively popular option with almost 17% was Hange & Co. learning about Floch’s involvement with the wine. Almost 15% chose the scene with Mikasa saving Gabi from Kaya’s attack as the one they preferred the most and 11% said that the scene with Nicolo saving Jean and Connie from drinking the tainted wine was their favorite. Other scenes, like Armin and Mikasa talking with Gabi and the rest of the major SC members learning about the wine were less popular.

ZEKE ACCUSES LEVI OF BEING UNPOPULAR. LEVI DENIES THIS. WHAT DO YOU THINK? 155 responses

Zeke’s accusation is one of the funnier interactions he has with Levi (in the opinion of the person writing these small paragraphs), so it’s no surprise that 40.6% thought that it was rather funny how defensive Levi got over it, even if they weren’t sure how popular the man himself was. 32.9% seemed to believe that Levi was actually rather popular, owing to his title of “Humanity’s Strongest”. 12.3% thought that although his image might be popular, but that it was most likely restricted among members of the Survey Corps. Finally, a minority was, in fact, convinced that Levi wasn’t popular at all, really.

He is definitely popular. But anyway what I noticed here is that it's a little different in anime and manga. In anime, he was kind of defensive which is funny and cute. In manga, he looked more like he was lamenting that he used to be popular back when killing titans was the only thing important. Anyway, regardless, I like both versions.

Levi as a story (humanity's strongest!! He took out a million titans on his own) is popular among the survey corps/army. Levi the actual man is awkward as fuck. He's one of those heroes who you don't want to meet cause it turns out he's short and grouchy and ill-mannered in actuality.

Mr. Blouse’s speech seemed to resonate with the majority of the fandom (64.9%), who thought his sentiment ringed true and that it was something one should strive for. 25.3% of respondents noted that although the sentiment wasn’t wrong per say, it was too idealistic for how the “real world” functioned. Finally, a small minority wasn’t having it and seemed to think that children were no different from adults in this cruel world™️ (Thanks, Mikasa and Bertholdt.)

It's expected that children will inherit some of the sins of the past, but it's the responsibility of adults to teach kids to do and be better.

WHAT DO YOU THINK, DID MAPPA DO THE DRAMATIC RESTAURANT SCENE JUSTICE? 152 responses

The restaurant scene was rather dramatic, all things considering, so it was no wonder that getting its atmosphere through was of key importance. The overwhelming majority was very happy with what was shown on screen, with 67.1% thinking MAPPA went above and beyond and 27% simply thanking the animation studio for the accurate adaptation. A few people, in contrast, thought that the manga conveyed the tone more effectively than the anime did.

Mixed feelings! I really loved the tension, emotion and voice acting! But I'm a bit sad they didn't include the sasha flashback bits that could've added to the emotions.

The flashbacks with Sasha eating pizza were cherished by a small part of the fandom, so it is no surprise that at least a certain part of the fandom was disappointed in not seeing these panels animated. That segment, as mentioned, was rather small, as only 10.4% stated that it was a near deal breaker for them. In contrast, 58.4% were willing to accept the cut, even if there was a small part of them that wished that it was animated. Some stated that they never cared about those panels at all and 22.7% simply never noticed the cut.

No, I like it that we can focus on Sasha's parents' faces during the speech

I miss those scenes, but including them wouldn't flow nicely with this medium

I really wanted to see her eating pizza but I knew it wouldn't make it in. It wouldn't make sense with the tone of the main scene.

NOW THAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE WHOLE WINE PLOT, DO YOU THINK THE MAIN CAST WAS EXEMPT FROM CONSUMING THE WINE BECAUSE OF EREN? 148 responses

Many have argued that Eren was pretty reckless with allowing the wine plot to happen. Though 40.5% are certain that the plan truly was only to have higher ups drink the wine (and perhaps Eren assumed there would be no risk to his friends). 18.9% believe that neither Yelena nor Zeke cared about who would drink the wine, but that Eren negotiated terms with them. 18.2% on the other hand believe that Yelena/Zeke actively avoided getting his friends involved, knowing that he wouldn’t approve of it. 9.5% can’t say for certain, and only 8.1% believe that Eren didn’t care if his friends drank the wine at all, and that Nicolo is the one who actively spared them.

I think Eren maybe saw enough about what was gonna happen that he didn't have to vocalize or care too much about who drank the wine. Although, poor Pyxis and the rest. Eren has had contempt for "lazy" military higher ups before, but he also saw people like Hannes change. Idk, maybe he felt their lives were worth sacrificing.

I think eren had something to do with the wine not being distributed to the survey corps, whether it was him directly or if it was zeke and yelena knowing that it would've pissed eren off, but obviously eren didn't do anything to specifically prevent it because if niccolo hadn't stopped them, main cast would've drank it

I think it didn't matter if only the higher-ups got to drink the wine, but since Niccolo had kind-of relations to Jean and co., he didn't want them to drink it.

DO YOU THINK MAPPA EFFECTIVELY FORESHADOWED AND BUILT UP THE WINE PLOT? 148 responses

The wine plot was built up meticulously over the course of months in the manga, which allowed for a whole bunch of theories to prop up. The anime goes by quicker, naturally. So we asked if you felt that the build up for said plot was done well in the adaption. The overwhelming majority thought so, with 48% stating that they felt MAPPA did an even better job than the source, in contrast to the 35.8% who stated their belief in Isayama’s superiority. On the other hand, a fair few also stated that they didn’t enjoy MAPPA’s portrayal of this subplot and preferred the original. We’ve also gotten a fair few write-ins, mostly stating that it’s hard to compare the two.

I think it's hard to compare because in the manga we had months in between the first foreshadowing and the reveal that there was something up with the wine. We had time to simmer and theorize, the anime didn't have much time to delve deeper into that particular moment especially with everything else going on in the series at the same time. They did a good job!

As seen in the season prior, MAPPA has rearranged certain scenes with the narrative. This time it’s the Levi/Zeke forest scene, juxtaposed with the restaurant scenes. A plurality (42.7%) thought the change worked in its favour. 18.7% didn’t mind it too much, but did prefer Isayama’s version of events and a few thought the change was simply bad outright. 33.3% thought the change didn’t really make a difference one way or the other. There was also a write-in.

The complaint O have its that these scene occurs at night and the restaurant one was in briad daylight, so it felt odd because Im assuming its the same say.

THE VISUALS OF LEVI REMEMBERING THE DEATHS OF HIS COMRADES WHEN RESCUING EREN ARE DIFFERENT IN THE ANIME THAN THE MANGA. WHO DID IT BETTER? 154 responses

There was somewhat of a contrast between the flashbacks experienced by Levi in the manga and anime. We asked which version you preferred. Though most (57.8%) noted that both versions were nice, 31.8% said that they preferred the animated version, in contrast to the 10.4% who liked Isayama’s art better.

We’ve also gotten a very passionate write-in for this one.

I'M SO UPSET THEY DIDN'T ANIMATE THE PANEL OF EREN'S FACE NEXT TO LEVI'S FROM WHEN HE SAVED HIM THE FIRST TIME IN TROST. Like I get it that they wanted to focus on all of the people Levi has lost, but in comparison with the manga it makes it seem like Levi doesn't even care about Eren anymore. If they had a shot where Levi is thinking about Eren specifically before focusing on his comrades, then it would've made more sense why he basically rejected the plan to have Eren be eaten. It would've shown that Levi still cares about Eren and doesn't want him to be killed unless there's nothing else they can do. It just feels like the anime (both WIT and Mappa) is constantly undermining Eren and Levi's relationship (and don't even get me started on how much worse it is in the dubbed version). Although, to be fair, the anime seems to do that to all of Eren's relationships that aren't with Mikasa. Like not even from a shipping perspective; even his relationship with Armin got parts ignored in favor of replacing them with moments with Mikasa. But whatever. Levi still cares about Eren, and I just wish the anime did a better job at showing that.

Levi’s lines focused on explaining himself were cut a bit short in this episode, so we were wondering if we were going to hear them next episode. As it turns out, 49.3% believe so, stating that they’re important for the story and its context. In contrast, 20.9% believed that these lines were not actually necessary and weren’t going to be shown. 29% can’t say for sure, one way or another.

Maybe it will be shown next chapter? MAPPA does that often.

it’s a real 3 ring shitshow- survey corps made into clowns, children screaming, monkey business, unamused adults, and the ringmaster just waltzed on into the middle of it.

I was disappointed at first when I saw the screenshots and spoilers, but man, when I watched the entirety, that was some great acting and pacing. Way better than the previous 2 episodes. Thank you MAPPA! Really hoping they do well again next episode. Could be the as great episode 6/7! And thank you as always, SNK poll team!

Thankfully this first part is almost over. The manga is legendary and that season is barely good. I'm so disappointed. And I really liked Eren's expression better in the manga. I don't understand why they changed it.

I miss the rotoscoping from the first Mappa episodes. Everything looks a bit stiff.

I cried more in this episode than I have at any other this season so far smh.

When Mikasa stops Kaya from stabbing Gabi. In the manga it seems that Mikasa was protecting Gabi and bringing her head close to her chest, but in the manga she looked somewhat uncomfortable. And it wasn't appreciated enough. I also did not like that they excluded Hange moments because it helped the way of seeing her as a leader and the scene of Levi thinking about his dead comrades looked very simple to me. I prefer manga. but the voice actors were amazing! I liked the episode but it is not one of my favorites.

As a Gabi hater, this is where fandom hypocrisy gets me in regards to Mr. Braus and Mikasa sparing Gabi. Mr. Braus becomes widely regarded as some virtuous and compassionate saint while Mikasa is bad for stopping Kaya. They BOTH suck for betraying Sasha's memory. Poor Sasha deserved so much better.

Mr. Braid's speech was just as cringe in the anime as it was in the manga. Shame on him for not avenging his daughter.

I think the manga did better in the scene where Kaya was about to kill Gabi in how sudden it was. In the anime, we got to follow Kaya's whole trajectory up until she was stopped by Mikasa, so Mikasa saving Gabi didn't feel as monumental. They did great on Kaya's murderous rage and breakdown though.

As long as I live I will never understand why Mr. Braus could be so pathetic as to forgive his daughter's killer. Especially knowing what happens later in, no true parent would just let their childs killer into their family. It's disgraceful.

Miya triplets headcanons

Atsumu, Osamu and Y/n, these three were known to cause trouble when they were kids. The three of you really did like to play pranks on anyone. First it was your parents, then your grandparents, when you three entered school, it became your classmates.

Your school then put the three of you into three different classes because they really could not handle the three of you together.

This was when Osamu began to calm down and became the more calmer and quieter one out of your three. Though that did not mean he would stop teasing you and Atsumu.

Though the school could not keep you three apart all the time, there was lunch where students from different classes would hang out and eat together.

You would be sitting with your friends, laughing and chatting away when all of a sudden your juice is gone. You stop laughing immediately and look at your friends who were already looking at Atsumu.

"Give it back!" You stand up and go to grab it back.

"No, you swapped our juices didn't you? It's only fair that I get to drink both juices- OW"

You punched his stomach and when he bent down you grabbed the juice box and quickly drank it all.

Now your brother is chasing you down the hallways and around the school until lunch break is over. Osamu had watched the two of you run back and forth outside from his classroom window, looking down at the two of you like you both were two complete idiots.

While growing up, your brothers had always been attracted to sports, your parents would put you in sports too because they wanted to take cute pictures of the three of you together, holding up a ball all muddy.

You then grew to like playing sports too and began to willingly join your brothers in their games.

Then came high school (middle school? i forgot which stage of education they are in when they play volleyball :/) and you noticed your brothers had joined the boys volleyball club.

You don't know why they chose volleyball out off all the sports they could have chosen. Don't think you ever played volleyball that much either.

There was a day where you had forgotten your house keys and you knew your parents weren't gonna be home so you went over to your brothers' practice to ask them to give you their spare key.

That's when you first officially met their teammates and since the coach wasn't in that day, their captain allowed you to hang out with them for a bit ( totally not because they all sort of had a crush on you ).

You had your brothers' teammates teach you the basics of volleyball and whenever you would fail a serve or a receive, you would hear your brothers' annoying, loud laughs behind you. That's when you would throw the volleyballs at them, hoping to hit all the laughter out of them.

After that day, you would sometimes watch your brothers practice before deciding that you too also want to play volleyball. So then you joined the girls team.

Sometimes the school would have a mini match with the boys team against the girls team, that's when you would challenge your brothers saying that if you win then they both have to you snacks and if they win you have to buy them snacks.

Safe to say, both sides have had their wallets bruised enough times.

You noticed that volleyball became a rather important hobby to your brothers, specifically Atsumu. You enjoyed volleyball yourself too but as the school years went by, you don't think you would want to make a career out of it. Osamu told you that he too shared the same feelings. So then after your third year, you both decided to cheer Atsumu on from the sidelines while he reaches his volleyball goals.

Though I keep thinking that you too would have a career which causes you to have some fame too. Like a singer or an actor, maybe a famous author? But I feel like if you were to ever have interviews, they would ask you about Atsumu and think that you both were twins. You would then tell them that actually you do have another brother and the three of you are triplets. This would cause your fans to want to see to interact with Atsumu and your other brother whose name they do not know.

Even though the three of you grew up arguing and only working together to throw pranks on others, the three of you do love each other very much. You remember when you had gotten into your first relationship, your brothers had gotten very, very protective of you. So you know that even if the three of you grow up and end up living very far away, the bond you all have as siblings could never be severed.

Awww anon you’re the sweetest! I’m not really that popular, other people have been active in the fandom for ages while I’ve only been on tumblr less than a year, but thank you for your kind words you’re too cute 🤧🤧💕

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff

I’m pretty sure about this because, while Nath may seem like a slytherin sometimes, actually everything he does is not because of ambition, and seriously he’s not that cunning if you thing about it, the only reason he kept up with the drug cartel was because it made him feel smart, he felt witty when he ran the system and avoided the police. Also, he kept studying and writing his thesis even while he was on the run for his life, if this is not a ravenclaw I don’t know what it is.

best quality: he’s gorgeous and sexy, smart (even though he made same very poor decisions this past season) and now that he has found his real self he’s so confident and charming, he looks and sounds free, while in HSL he wasn’t, not even right after he emancipated himself, he was still controlling himself, up until the last episode.

worst quality: while at the end of UL he was very brave and saved himself from his terrible situation, previously he was acting cowardly in more than one occasion (not only in UL), but I think he may have overcome this in his arc. It would’ve been better if his trauma had been better explored and used to explain some of his behaviours because, personally, knowing his whole story I understand some things and the main reason why he acted in certain ways, but I have to basically analyse the character myself, the game never delves deep into his motivations and psychology. Also, I still believe he has a bit of a double standard between his hoeing around and women, but I also think that maybe BV didn’t want to give him this trait and just fucked up writing certain scenes (as usual).

misc. thoughts: I think I said most of what I think above. I liked Nath in HSL but he felt a little bland for my tastes, then I started founding him hot in UL but his attitude put me off and I wanted to both slap him and bang him. Then by the end of his arc he really won me over, I love that he took things into his own hands and bravely saved himself, while protecting both his sister and girlfriend (we all know that the writing of his arc was… whatever… but I won’t fault him for this). I’m not completely sold by his new haircut but he’s still yummy in my eyes. I want a career that can satisfy him, as I said in another post I think that investigative journalist would be perfect for him, but he also loves teaching and books and I still think Nath in a police uniform would be a sight for sore eyes 👀

My Review of Rinne

(a.k.a. Kyoukai no Rinne)

How did I get into this anime? Let’s just say the creator of this series, I’m a fan of. Rumiko Takahashi is the creator of this series as well as several other well-known anime series including Ranma ½, Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, and my personal favorite InuYasha. That alone was reason for me to get heavily interested from the get-go. But because of the time it came out, I had too much on my plate to pick up one more anime, so I put it on the back-burner for a few years. And despite the mediocre score and listless hype over this, I’m still interested to see what Rin-ne is all about.

As a child, Mamiya Sakura has been different from other children. When she was a child, Sakura ended up in the afterworld and returned to the world of the living after a day of wandering around. After that incident, she gained the ability to see ghosts/spirits. Fast-forward to the present where she’s a high school student and meets a Shinigami named Rinne Rokudou. Rinne is a half-human (which is rare in the afterworld) and works as a Shinigami like his parents and grandmother before him. He can be seen by regular humans, but if he wears a special cloak, he becomes invisible to everyone. This makes it easy to put spirits to rest without being seen by humans!

Both Rinne and Sakura are able to see what others cannot and this often helps Rinne when he takes on a mission. Throughout the series, Rinne ends up taking on random spirits every episode with a cute mascot that often helps him (Rokumon), a love rival (Tsubasa Jumonji), a girl who likes him (Ageha), and several other colorful characters in the human and afterworld. Check out the afterlife. Just be sure to bring your checkbook, nothing’s for free!

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Sentai Filmworks is the licensor of this series and by the looks of it, this series has already been released in video formats and has no dub to speak of. So I’m going to assume there will be no dub to this in the future. This is kind of a blessing to me! Because if I’m watching a Rumiko Takahashi series, I would highly prefer hearing the voice actors of Vancouver! That’s right, if this series doesn’t contain Richard Ian Cox, Kelly Sheridan, Brad Swaile, or Brian Drummond, the dub will be scum.

Okay, I admit that’s mean. I grew accustomed to the other Takahashi classics that if this got a dub, I would have flipped if I saw the Texas voice actors on this.

As for the sub…where oh where could Kappei Yamaguchi be? Oh where, oh where could he be? One way or another, we are going to hear him. And we do! BUT, he’s not a main character this time. That honor goes to Kaito Ishikawa. Everything in the last three years has gone to this guy. And who am I to complain? I friggin’ love him in nearly everything he’s in. Yeah, this series does have a lot of familiar voices, including several that have been memorable characters in Takahashi’s other series. Kappei Yamaguchi (who is well known for InuYasha and Ranma) is featured as well as Satsuki Yukino (well known for Kagome on InuYasha) Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.

*Rinne is played by (known for Kiawe on Pokemon SM, Genos on One Punch Man, Mitsuo on Golden Time, Urie on Tokyo Ghoul :re, Sakakibara on Assassination Classroom, and Naofumi on Shield Hero)

*Sakura is played by Marina Inoue (known for Sonia on Pokemon Journeys, Armin on Attack on Titan, Yoko on Gurren Lagann, Jessica on Umineko, Kyouko on Skip Beat, Wataru on Hayate, and Rei on H.O.T.D.)

*Rokumon is played by Hitomi Nabatame (known for Serena’s Mother on Pokemon XY, Yukiji on Hayate, Margery Daw on Shakugan no Shana, Saori on Oreimo, Nanao on Bleach, and Raynare on High School DxD)

FAVORITE CHARACTER: I have a guilty pleasure for Kain’s cat, Suzu. She’s just so care-free that she fucks up at least 98% of the time she’s shown on this show. And I gotta admit that she makes me laugh whenever she’s on the screen.

DISLIKED CHARACTER: You would think I would pick that snot-nosed brat (Shouma) introduced in season two for this list. Or Kain for that matter! Both of these boys annoy the living fuck out of me whenever they’re in an episode. But then Rinne’s father peaks his douchey head in.

Oh wow, horrible parent alert! Sabato Rokudou is Rinne’s father and holy shit what a bloody scumbag. He’s on the same tier as the parents from Hayate the Combat Butler. Yeah, that bad! As we all know, the after-world is a capitalist society and everything has a price. This guy has been stealing his own son’s money since he was a little boy. Add to that, Sabato fills his son with false promises (including meeting his own mother). Even in his current age, Sabato finds ways to steal money from his son when he’s trying to earn means while living in the world of the living. Even putting him in a million yen in debt! And just causing life to be miserable for Rinne whenever he comes by! Tamako, how could you birth such an inconsiderate bastard into being?

Nice to see my prediction from when I wrote my Worst Father’s of Anime list over a year ago came true. Sabato remained a dick-head throughout all three seasons. Amazing! I guess the only nice thing about him is that he’s not going to be in a relationship with Ichigo while she’s still a child.

SHIPPING: So Kyokai no Rinne is following the same protocol as a lot of Rumiko Takahashi’s other animes. So we have the male and female main protagonist that’s going to be the main ship (even though it seems more friend-zoned most of the time). There will be a reoccurring girl character to cause friction between this main ship because she loves the male protagonist. And we have to add several boys after the main female’s heart too.

And just for good measure, let’s add a boy interested in the male lead and a couple of secondary ships that may or may not happen.

Hey, InuYasha and Ranma ½ had the same setup. Rinne is just following suit!

Rinne x Sakura has pretty much setting sail since the end of season two even without a full-on confession from either one of them. Rinne has had feelings for Sakura since season one. Sakura on the other hand, I can’t get a grip on what she wants in terms of a romantic partner. I want to say she’s oblivious to the advances of Jumonji or Ageha’s jealousy, but on the other hand, I feel like Sakura just doesn’t care what happens romantic wise. But the fact that she’s constantly helping Rinne might be a big, fat clue.

Rinne x Ageha is that one-sided ship that you know is never gonna happen (along with Sakura x Jumonji), but it doesn’t stop die-hard shippers from supporting it until their final breaths. I am actually impressed that Ageha doesn’t hold a grudge against Rinne because his father kinda brain-washed Ageha’s sister into giving Sabato money all the time. Several other characters hate Rinne for that alone, yet Ageha is still devoted to loving Rinne.

I do wonder that once Rinne x Sakura are a sure-thing if Jumonji and Ageha are going to hook up.

Rinne x Matsugo was one of the wildest ships I could have imagined. First of all, Matsugo’s debut episode came with a hint of love-hate. But by the end, Matsugo went from hating Rinne over a misunderstanding to going all “Bros before Hoes” on us! After that Matsugo stopped at nothing to get Rinne. Even blowing off the one girl that actually likes this obsessed freak!

Kain x Renge is actually the one ship that doesn’t revolve around Rinne because both Kain and Renge hate Rinne’s guts. Renge likes Kain, but also has to hide some pretty heinous things from him like working for Rinne’s father as a Damashi-shinigami. And as we all know, Kain has a vendetta against Sabato, his family, and anyone affiliated with Damashis due to his own family situation. Kain unfortunately sees Renge as an ally or a friend. He wants her to continue her studies since Kain can’t go to school. Dude ain’t got time for a side-chick! He’s gotta work for a living because his mother gives all their money away to Sabato.

That guy seriously grinds my gears.

RUMIC WORLD EASTER EGGS: Rumiko Takahashi has been around for quite some time and many of her creations have become quite well-known. That’s why when Rinne came in anime form, fans took to the forums to gab about how Ageha is the spitting image of a one-shot villain from InuYasha or that Sakura’s mother has a resemblance of Lum or that Jumonji looks like a modern-day Miroku (minus the perverted charm). Every now and then, we get a special little easter egg shown from Takahashi’s other works. Most notably, Lum shown on the currency and carnival prizes that have a lot of figures from Ranma ½!

My favorite easter egg was of course during a next episode preview where Sabato and Tamako (who are voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi and Satsuki Yukino) end up doing some dialogue that’s…

…You all know what this is…

END OF SEASON ONE: So the final episode, Sakura was able to have something she hasn’t been able to obtain in over 10 years. Three days of peace without having to be bugged by a spirit. As a reminder, Sakura as a child visited the other world and after that experience, she’s been able to see spirits. Tamao gave Sakura some candy to eat so that she would be like every other human around her and not see spirits every waking second.

This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Rinne as he had to take out over 5,000 spirits in the middle of an A-1 run. And because Sakura accidentally opened the barrier containing these spirits, they were trying to come after her. So Rinne had to get rid of all 5,000 (and lose money in the process with special tools). It took three days, but Rinne was able to do that. And because Rinne had his special coat on (where normal humans are unable to see him), Sakura wasn’t able to see him until the candy wore off. Even though Sakura got a whole bag of those candies, she hasn’t used them again.

At the end of the episode, Rinne and Sakura break the fourth wall by announcing that a second season was coming!

SEASON TWO: Oh thank you Jesus, the opening and ending themes aren’t bland bags of genericness like the previous season. Great improvement, especially when you get one of the best singers from Love Live to do the opening theme! Good on you!

Music ranting aside, this season we are introduced to a lot of new characters in the human and spirit world that are going to be seen more often than not. Starting things off, apparently Ageha has a cat employee (much like the relationship between Rinne and Rokumon). Except Ageha and Obero’s relationship is a lot more dysfunctional. Kain also has a cat employee named Suzu. She’s more spazzy compared to Kain’s serious demeanor. Actually, there are several cat characters introduced this series and even a few episodes dedicated to them later on.

One more thing I should mention about this particular season is that we got to see Sakura have a little more growth here. For a while I found her too plain for my taste, but this season we see her become a Shinigami (for a day) and we even get possible love interest with the finale. Now let’s head over to that part.

END OF SEASON TWO: The final two episodes consisted of Rinne being invited to a high school mixer in the Afterworld by a former friend, Matsugo. The thing is Matsugo used to hold a vendetta against Rinne due to a misunderstanding from their childhood. But unlike every other misunderstanding from this series, this one was resolved within an episode or two and Matsugo’s buddies with Rinne again. Actually, Matsugo’s feelings are teetering from childhood friend to full-blown bromance.

How do you get rid of a nuisance who can’t take a hint? Bring Sakura with you to the mixer and have her pretend to be your girlfriend! The big problem here is that Rinne is putting food and money over Sakura. And if you were in Rinne’s shoes, you can see that these two are more important than a girl. Rinne is poor as fuck! If he gets a chance at winning some money or food, absolutely fuck everything else! Unfortunately, Sakura caught wind of all of these ulterior motives and started to question her own relationship with Rinne. And I gotta hand it to Sakura, because if this were an old-school Rumiko Takahashi female protagonist like Akane or Kagome, Rinne would have been destroyed in a matter of seconds. Sakura doesn’t cuss him out or show a resting bitch-face. Actually, she never does! But by the end of this two-parter, Rinne realized that Sakura is pretty important to her, maybe even more than other things.

At the end of the episode, Rinne and Sakura break the fourth wall again by announcing that a third season was coming!

SEASON THREE: Much like the previous season, we’re continuously introduced to new characters that serve some sort of purpose, a new love triangle involving the main or supporting cast, and 2-3 filler stories an episode. However, in the mid-point, we get introduced to 2 new characters that answer some questions that have plagued many of us since the beginning.

You know how nearly every male protagonist of Rumiko Takahashi has a missing mother? Whether it be due to premature demise or she’s a crazy-bitch like in Ranma ½, the mother figure is usually M.I.A. Otome was Rinne’s mother, but she disappeared when he was a baby. Only now, her scythe returns suddenly. Add to that, a mysterious little girl named Ichigo moves into the area (and just like Sakura, she can see spirits).

Long story short, Ichigo is the reincarnation of Otome (Rinne’s mother). I can get over this whole Kikyo/Kagome crap because this is a Rumiko classic. But I just feel ewwie whenever I see Ichigo and Sabato. Thankfully Sabato has no intention of doing anything creepy to Ichigo. He has some standards, so he gets a point with me there. The reason why Otome disappeared was because she wanted to hide her old yearbooks from Sabato, which lead to her being caught up in a stampede of wild animals that lead her to the wheel of reincarnation. And the reason why she was trying to hide these old yearbooks was because she didn’t want Sabato to know the ugly truth.

That she is really two years younger…than her mother-in-law.

Dude…I know Tamako looks extremely young to even be a grandmother…but damn, Otome goes to these lengths to lie about her age.

ENDING: We don’t really get any kind of monumental moment or climax until the very final episode since all of the episodes between Ichigo’s reveal and the finale were mostly just side-stories involving spirits/demons of the day. The final episode had Rinne, Sakura, Renge, and Jumonji taking part of a school festival at Matsugo’s school. But it mostly takes place in a test of courage cave. Apparently this feature is notorious for causing many couples to break up and people can’t turn around otherwise they’re disqualified. But if you make it all the way through, free food! And you know Rinne is not going to turn down a chance to get free food.

But we get another moment much like the end of season two where Rinne has to choose between food and/or money or Sakura. Actually, Rinne ended up choosing Sakura. And unlike a bunch of other pissed off couples, Rinne and Sakura’s relationship (or lack there of) is doing pretty well.

So we end with no love confessions on any front, no happy ending for Rinne in hitting a Shinigami lottery or some crap like that, and no hope in a fourth season.

*sighs*

This was…just an okay anime. I can see why people just think this is okay or mediocre. With me, there were several things that bugged. First of all, I found several things in the anime that felt very inconsistent. Especially when it came to the spirits plaguing the human world! There are some scenes where something out of the ordinary happens and it plays out like you would expect like people freaking out. But then you get these moments where, okay, why are regular humans seeing this? The annoying narrator likes to point out the obvious in literally every episode. Why, didn’t we establish the obvious earlier?

Speaking of the narrator, could you be any more annoying?! How many times are you going to remind us of things in the series? I know there are useful moments with the narrator like when he’s describing all the different items Rinne and other Shinigami use to put a soul to rest. But then there’s this repetitive nature to the narrator where he constantly reminds you of shit you’ve known since episode 1. It’s useful when you want to remind the audience at the beginning of each season, but not every couple of episodes. WE ALL KNOW RINNE CAN’T BE SEEN BY HUMANS IF HE’S WEARING HIS CLOAK! SHUT UP ALREADY!

I’m not sure if the anime covered everything in the manga as I have not picked up the books…yet. I’m sure the manga has gotten a little further with many of these potential ships like Rinne x Sakura to hope that maybe one day we’ll get something from them. I’ve spent a good year and a half trying to grasp at what I really think of Sakura Mamiya. First of all, she’s a huge improvement in the main female role. When you compare her to the other girls from Takahashi’s works like Kagome or Akane (who eat Carnation Instant Bitch every morning), Sakura is quite pleasant.

But then you see Sakura showing no other emotion besides satisfied, meh, and let me put on my surprise face. She hardly ever gets mad. I’m not saying go on a rampage like Kagome when she yells at InuYasha, but for fuck’s sake, tell Rinne off every now and then. Christ-balls, he’s put food and money over you so many times you’ve earned a few yells. And he constantly borrows money from you and you know he’ll never pay you back!

The story is mostly the spirit of the day trope. In later seasons however, we get two or three mini stories an episode dealing with some sort of spirit with no personal growth involving any of the main characters. Rinne gets ahead during the episode, but gets smacked back to where he began and we repeat the same thing in the next episode. So yeah, it got boring when we’re stuck in a slump like that. I even had high hopes in season two when we got that one episode where Sakura was a Shinigami for the day. I thought Sakura was going to evolve a little bit after that, but alas that was not the case. We go right back to the spirit(s) of the day trope!

But I always felt drawn back with several of the colorful characters. I always enjoy Rinne’s grandmother, Tamako. Kain’s cat, Suzu is the silliest thing ever and I love her dearly. Masato will always suck and it’s a joy to watch him fail at everything. And call me a sucker for boys fighting over the girl, but whenever I see Rinne and Jumonji get jealous at each other, I enjoy it. Not on levels like Inuyasha and Koga, but good enough here.

So, I would give it a couple of episodes to make your own decision if you want to drop it or continue watching Rinne.

In the meantime, I’m gonna wait patiently for that InuYasha sequel that’s coming out in October. Thank Arceus Rumiko Takahashi gave us something in 2020.

Now then! That took a good 18 months to get through. Hopefully the next anime is a lot shorter than that one. What’s next on my Sentai block?

His arm stayed around your waist, your head on his shoulder as you snuggled up into his body. Your leg always seemed to find his waist as you slept on him most the time. He couldn’t lie but you being this close to him was always the best part of his sleep, the low hums of an unknown song to help you sleep with you close by him. The smell of your fresh shampoo engulphing his nose, the way that even if the bed had plenty of room you’d still find yourself clinging onto his side. Waking up beside you with a “good mornin’ darling” and skimmed kisses against your face, each time holding your face to have a look at what was hidden. On the rare occasions you wake up before he does you pretend to be asleep just to feel his kisses, he’ll know that you’re pretending each time and will still give you your well-deserved kisses.

eren yeager

His grip tightened against your waist as he kept a hold of your side, his head in the crook of your neck, smelling the perfume you had put on in the morning. It's his favourite smell, a mix of perfume, the environment you had been in. Unique to him a smell that he loved to nuzzle up into every night, something that he would never miss at all. You both love skin to skin contact, almost always finding your bare back against his bare chest, it was a sign of intimacy that he loved to feel. He always kisses your neck before you sleep, and on the occasions where you both cant sleep his fingers trail against your back. Drawings stars and scenes across your perfect back, he could envision it and that’s all that mattered. When you both finally wake up from long nights of having 3am talks, he will never not say “morning baby” before giving you a sloppy tired kiss anywhere near your mouth. He has on many occasions missed your mouth and left slobbery kisses on your chin and jaw before.

erwin smith

A man who knows what he wants, and he wants you in his bed, lying against his body. He uses the same sleeping position as Armin, but his other hand is always across his chest and on your side. He doesn’t care if it makes him uncomfortable, the need to be touching you, touching what enchants his vision. Soft murmurs are a common occurrence whenever you both do sleep, he loves being able to play with your hair as you mumble out replies. He doesn’t care if you fall asleep before him, it's more time for him to relish in having you beside him. He loves how your face mushes onto his chest whenever he wakes up before you, your cheeks squished by the impact, drool dripping onto him. He loves it, it's something only he can see, would give you a kiss on the head as he stays knowing just how much he loved you.

jean kirschtein

He hates admitting this to anybody and is glad that nobody has ever watched the two of you sleep at all. Your arms around him, his head cushioned on your chest as he lies on top of you, your legs almost wrapped around him. You both know Jean always sleeps easier in that position and you couldn’t lie yourself and say it wasn’t one of your favourite ones. The late-night conversations where you both were at peace; he’d tilt his head against your chest cuddling into your closer as you look down at him softly. The much bigger man became romanticised, becoming something that nobody else would see, his words of affirmation, “I love you…I love you more than anything else in this world.” It's on these nights of confessions of love between one another where you and Jean truly learn the most about each other. A few tears shed but you both had found a different method of intimacy that worked for you both, that proved just how much love you had for one another.

levi ackerman

The way the back of your head rested against his chest, one hand around your waist as the other went straight to the book he was reading. You always eagerly asked for him to read to you, and this was your favourite position. He couldn’t lie and say it wasn’t a position that didn’t help him, your soft snores were always heard within twenty pages, slowly letting you sleep on him as he grabbed the work papers you had pushed to the side. He knew it was hard for him to sleep but if you sleeping on him was the only way for you both to gain some normality he would allow it to continue. Even though doing paperwork would always check up on you, you’d occasionally fidget as his chest was your pillow and snuggle into him as you wanted to feel his warmth. He might fall asleep himself sitting upright but he didn’t care, dozing off as his head fell to the side and you both would wake up with pains in more parts of your body. “Tch, this is what you get for being a brat…my brat though.”

reiner braun

He was obsessed with the way you softly snored across his chest, the way your tiny finger wrapped in the material of his shirt. You had often spoken about how you could only sleep if it was on top of him, and that was one of the main causes to this arrangement that you both had made. He could be all protective and warm to you with his big arms encasing your smaller frame and you could still wrap your entire body around his waist and chest to give him your own love and affection. It worked better than the two of you had ever expected as it was a daily routine for you to end up snuggling into Reiner’s chest. You couldn’t help it; he was your big strong boyfriend and with the personality of a golden retriever how could you not love sleeping across his chest. He’s always the one to give you forehead kisses and say “I love you” when he thinks you're asleep which you definitely always hear.
