a good aro friend on dc gave me this idea (who is now my enemy for the same reason) that we come up with more jokes, personally i'm aroace and aplspec but overall is what i'm talking about. cause according to them, the dragons and garlic bread is getting old and lets quote on quote STeAM oUt Of their EaRS. they just went on a rant about it but couldn't come up with a single (much less good) one. arooos what do we got? edit: this ought to show you @saucewisdom as no one who talks ill about garlic bread must be allowed to get away with it

I got the idea from some of the reblogs from my previous aplatonic dedicated post.
Like as I mentioned several times on this blog, alloplatonics obsess over friendships & think everyone has the same experience.
Like as if everyone had a specific friend they just like the most out of the other friends & who would pick them over anyone else.
Like man idk where you got that, but I recommend you to open your eyes or stopped smoking something since this is the most delusional shit I've seen.
Not everyone is the fucking same!! Like if you spread nonsense how every single person is different but think that everyone acts the same or has the same opinions as you, then you're pretty hypocritical.

Plato repulsed aro culture is thinking about how rapidly society would advance if the arospec community would start saying "nonromantic" instead of "platonic"
yeah, and if other people also started doing this. (bc I see ppl outside the aro community do this a lot too)
see also : if people would start saying 'nonsexual' instead of 'platonic' if thats what they actually mean
Its okay to say platonic to mean friendship, but it can be really annoying when ppl keep saying 'platonic' as if its merely an absence of romance and/or sex, and as if romance and/or sex can't occur alongside friendship for some people.
Also when aros and other ppl don't want me to assume theyre expressing romantic attraction or something, they can just say they mean it nonromantically instead of platonically bc it would cause me to feel repulsion if they expressed platonic feelings/attraction for me.

<- is making insane decisions about aro/aspec “picnic” at pride next year.
The plan was originally to have it be completely unofficial and just me in the dc pride festival on an aro flag picnic blanket with some crafts but idk my mental health is crashing and making these things/organizing this may help. idk i want my future to be in community organizing so. it makes me feel good. anyways onto what i was talking about:
So. im deciding if i want to be someone with a table or not, if i want it to be aro or aspec, or if i want to have pride stuff available for donation only or not (aka no money accepted). (idk what to donate towards. maybe just explaining that i made all of this with my own free time/ money and any extra money will get donating to ace and aro advocacy project- which i think is located in the same city as the pride event- or AUREA? or just outright donating but… this all sounds really expensive which im anxious about but. i am okay with outright donating if thats a better idea idk)
ANYWAYS
I’m not sure if a table costs money or anything, but I dont think aro culture and aro pride should be locked behind a paywall. If I have aro pride stuff available, it would likely be:
bulk purchased silicone rings. the packs of rings dont just come in white, and almost always contain black, but id just have all the colors in a bowl with a sign about the meanings of black and white rings
diy low quality stickers. and im talking printouts and packing tape level quality. id probably also reach out to some aro/aspec artists if theyd be okay with me printing some of their designs for free pride stickers with their @ on the back. again, no profiting off their art, just having subtle aro/aspec options for closeted folks. also obviously the pride flags themselves/ like the heart emojis and stuff. if i get permission for the <2 i also think thatd be funny to have. id try to print off as many of the specific arsospec identities as i could, too.
some mini pride flags. like on the little stick and stuff? i already reached out to somebody about aplatonic and the new aspec flags. these will be on display at minimum, but im tempted to see how much bulk purchasing to give away for free would cost
….real pride flags, including aplatonic and the new aspec flag. im most hesitant about this because $$$ but…. i know how much it would mean to people, yknow?
i also want like. *stuff to do* to engage in community building and growth, so id likely have kandi bracelet stuff too, and be making aro/aplatonic/aspec bracelets to entertain myself while i sit there for folks without the time to make their own. (also! apparently grey bracelets are an old greyspec symbol. thats so cool!)
ive had it in my mind since early 2020 i want aro ribbon available for turning into shoelaces and im not gonna let up on this decision.
i just…. i really want to be able to connect with members of my community and raise awareness and recognition or aros/apls/aspecs in queer spaces, and i thought this may help.
these things are a little more hesitant but im thinking shrinky-dink keychains of these things/culture and symbols…? same thing @ artists, but uhhh if no one approves ill draw my Very Best. most of these will ALSO be stickers (if i do it)
(these are all old or current aspec culture. aro specific ones im more likely to do. also apl im more likely to do and may get ** but idk yet)
arospec
dragons
yellow roses
<2 (i got permission!!!!)
a little crown?? people are referencing jughead and you know what Sure.
frog,,
green! we sure do love green huh. just like scribbles gkfhjf
…garlic bread? i think i saw that get phased out for dragons but you know what sure
plants..? i hadn’t realized that counted ngl
gryphons! i knew about them
(cacti/succulents but i already said plants)
“no romo”
does space count as aspec culture? idk guys
peridot and labradite? hm. cool!
somebody said aardvarks but ive never seen that before. apparently theyre a really old symbol. thats so cool!
💚 and 💔
pizza and ice cream but garlic bread got more popular (tho these are easier to draw)
manticores
i saw rats..? ehhh im hesitant on that one
Nandays and Caiques :) okay this one is cute
acespec
pegasus
cake
dragons are also very definitely acespec too
pirates
axolotls (though i think we can share)
wolves??? huh.
apparently ghosts are greyspec and!!!! holy shit that me! thats my name! fucking Wild Thats So Cool
someone reffed dinosaurs? cool cool
aaaahhhhg so space is Definitely acespec i forgot the whole spAce thing lol
purple
badgers and unicorns? hm
♠️♣️♥️♦️ cards/symbols. i also recognize peole can turn these into earrings which. real. queer culture irl.
aplatonic
<2 (this is more loveless/heartless but i see it used a lot in aplatonic circles as well)
apples
bees, worms, and birds have been proposed but havent seen much use yet. there has been some use though!
tbh since i cant find much ill likely have a sign that says something like “aplatonic culture is only recently getting enough visibility to be seen as separate from aro culture, so as the growing community develops new symbols we should keep an eye out! im excited to watch this community and identity finally get recognition like it deserves
do i propose platonic solids? idk you guys
*aspen/fang reminded me that non-platonic solids exist as well and are getting used as a symbol. Nice!
general aspec
cryptids
im not making an aroace category but someone said handshake tattoos… imma pass on this one because its not apl friendly
i associate cross stitch and diy patches as aro core/ aspec but thats just me
lambda is queer culture and we belong to that too
i saw a lot of black triangle (as well as gradient) refs but idk if that is Ace Specific or not, but it Is a symbol i think is important to not overlook
ive seen bees used every so often in aro communities as well as aplatonic,
you know what the d&d “roll for x” is funny ill take that
flags
anyways sorry i kinda went off with the research But. ive wanted to do this for Years (since 2019/early 2020 when this blog started Yknow. happenin) and i. i want to make it actually happen in 2023. its going to. i am gonna will it into existence. i just want to build a community i can interact with, yknow? thats all.
Anyways let me know what you think! i recognize this is a Lot and honestly ridiculous but who knows, yknow?

i wont lie to ya, i think we're goin' too hard on the aros.
i am a culprit of this, don't get me wrong. i understand the rationale behind it. aplatonicism is heavily related and in proximity to aromanticism (and other aspec communities). it also is a great example of a culture who (most often) puts friendship above any other sort of relationship; one, too, that advocates for the normalization of friendship being an important part of anyone's life--regardless of whether they're in a romantic relationship or not.
i've noticed that we, as aplatonics, are pushing for the normalization of platonicism and friendship as optional. that, as well as pointing out how prevalent it is in our societies, sometimes causing stress or harm to an individual's wellbeing with us wanting to challenge how much it is brought upon people.
and i think we're toxic with how we approach the aromantic's ideas. we see them as doing bad unto us. i think it's because they're so concentrated and readily available, easy to point out as something aplatonics might be against or averse to.
aromantics are not our enemies. they are not trying to go against us. they are not trying to stamp us out.
they are just trying to exist in a world where romantic desire and relationships are the end-all be-all of *life*. an example: if you aren't married by the time your deathbed arrives, you're seen as pitiful, unfulfilled, wasted, among other things.
they're trying to find a place where they can explore their aromanticism and relationships and their feelings regarding that. for many, that's going to involve reevaluating how they were taught to think about friendship: as second to having a partner. that's not something we should take away from or denounce, for we are doing the same.
aplatonics are trying to find a place where we can explore our aplatonicism and relationships and our feelings regarding that. for many, that's going to involve reevaluating how we were taught to think about friendship: as something everyone wants, does have, and should have.
i think we should work to understand their ideas, how aromanticism and it's culture work within someone and their life, and how we can accept their viewpoints without tearing them down just because it doesn't explicitly disclaim that they're alloplatonic and aren't against aplatonicism.
our ideas play together. both romanticism and platonicism are major heads within the social world, both having their strangleholds over the population.
please keep this in mind going forward. be nuanced when talking about the aromantic's ideas. be nuanced when talking about the aplatonic's ideas. understand how we are both communities of which highlight the domination of the two forces and use that to your advantage.
TL;DR (Please still read though!)--------------------------------------
aros point out how romanticism works against us
apls point out how platonicism works against us
these ideas are both valid, and work together
apls rag on aros too much just because they're easy to point to as a perpetuation of platonormativity
aros's "platonormativity" is most often just a deconstruction of how they've been taught to see relationship, them getting more in tune with how they wanna do their shit (just like we are)
don't denounce aro ideas and lives on the basis of it not being congruent with your own ideals and how you may think it goes against apl ideas
critically assess aro ideas with an understanding that it might not be for you and you're allowed to interpret the work as you wish, perhaps even trying to understand it from your own apl perspective
Thanks for reading! Feel free to add you own ideas for or against any/all of my points; I feel this is important to how we go forth as a communities.
I come at this from the perspective of a romance ambivalent aromantic and platonic repulsed aplatonic.

A list of emojis that are aro to me:
🫀 - anatomical heart. using this as a substitute for other heart emojis is pretty aro tbh
♠︎/♠️- spade. more of an aroace symbol than a general aro symbol (because of the ace card suit symbolism). i mostly use it because i like the way it looks aesthetically tbh but it also is a pretty significant symbol for aroaces
🏹 - bow and arrow. need i say more?
⬅️⤵️↗️ - literally any arrow emoji. because ar(r)o(w)
🥒 - cucumber. looks like zucchini. zucchini = slang term for a partner in a queerplatonic relationship
🥀 - wilted rose. because red roses represent romance, and romance is dead (i killed it myself)
💐- bouquet of roses. this one is a bit aro because it contains yellow roses, which are aromantic culture.
🌻 - sunflower. i just think yellow flowers (yellow roses especially, but also just yellow flowers in general) are aro
💚 - green heart. it is green. that is aro.
🍍- pineapple. since pineapples are an alloaro symbol.
🍏 - green apple. for apl-spec aros because green is aro and apples are apl
🫁 - lungs. as a cold, loveless aro, i have no heart to wax poetic about as alloromantic people often get to do. because of this, i have chosen the lungs to be the internal organ that i glamorize. it just makes me feel included
💘 - heart with arrow. it has an arrow in it, which is enough for me tbh.

So. Yesterday, a classmate asked me a very interesting question. (I’m out to her btw) Lolol honestly me clarifying in between that i’m actually 100% on the far end of being aro kind of collapsed the quo but i told her to ask away anyway. It was something like ‘Hypothetically, if u happened to meet an arospec person in school and you guys managed to really hit it off together, so much that you felt like you wanted them in your life even after school ended, would it…’ basically you get it. So she wasn’t really asking if i would date them but if it could possibly lead to any kind of partnership/if i could see myself in that sort of a companionship. and actually. what a brain-gear turning quo. The answer is no btw, that’s not the brain gear turning part. cause the quo ties to me Also happening to be aplatonic. which means nothing of that sort has happened to me till now and i frankly see the possibility to be very low. There has never been an instance where i’ve ‘hit it off’ with someone so profoundly that i end up ‘wanting them in my life more intensely’. (which doesn’t mean i don’t ever hit off with people or ever find happiness from having them in my life. No, that would be a gross misconstrue.) Uh anyways, i’m not going to explain the phenomenon of being💥apl💥top to bottom once again, just know that the answer is a direct no for me without any further ruminations. However the brain-gear turning part to me is that i nevertheless see meeting a fellow aroace(apl) person as the next biggest thing to happen in my life. And i have fantasized about it on many occasions. cause that would entail an exquisite kind of understanding i’ve never experienced in my life and mark an important milestone. which i’m sure won’t be happening until later. school is about to end in less than 6 months. So then what would it be like? Given that i am what i am. What form would that grandeur take? What form can it take?
On a lesser note, it also made me aware of the sort of ‘lack of determinism’ on my part. cause i have always been so led to want things i don’t truly want, which part of the yearning is real and which an inherent conditioning? Yeah you don’t see anyone asking straight people if they would ever turn gay but it’s allowed to aspecs? And it’s a thing we repeatedly ask ourselves too due to the same conditioning. Given that growing up and finding partnership doesn’t invalidate your aspec-ness in any way? As harmless a quo (my classmate’s) it was, led to a cascade of thoughts all over again. Good old Aromanticism.

This is a culture blog for trans people!
Meaning everyone who is under the trans umbrella (or can be under the trans umbrella: trans men and women, nonbinary people, xenogenders, questioning people, anyone not cis or who think they aren't cis). Also cis people you are welcome to like, reblog, follow but please don't hijack posts. I don't gatekeep here, just everyone be respectful of each other.
So how does it work?
Send in an ask or submission that starts off with: "x culture is". x being trans, non-binary, gender queer, agender... Be as general or spasific as you want. Then add in anything you like having to do with being trans.
Then I'll post the submissions!
Please don't use "nb" when you mean non-binary (it originally meant non black, and shouldn't be used in this context)
Wait aren't there blogs like this already?
There are some general trans/enby culture blogs, but they haven't been active in years, so I'm stepping in to the void.
This blog is inspired by other culture blogs:
@aro-culture-is, @ace-culture-is, @ndcultureis, @depression-culture-is, @gnc-culture-is, @apl-culture-is, @nonamorous-culture-is, @demi-alterous-culture-is, @demigirl-culture-is, @demigender-culture-is, @queercutlureis, @questioning-aspec-culture-is, @autigender-culture-is, @neopronoun-user-culture-is, @genderqueer-culture-is, @genderqueercultureis, @aspec-culture, @no-empathy-culture-is, @disassociation-culture-is
Lists of culture blogs:
part 1: orientations and general queerness
part 2: gender identities + intersex
part 3: neurodivergency
My main blog: @it-is-only-a-novel

for smarter aros than me, whens the last time you saw aro/ace symbols? i never really leave my romoaro bubble. personally ive only seen: rings, arrows, heart variations (💚💔🫀<2), and maybe frogs/succulents ever so often. also idk if “no romo” or the color green count but that too ig
i just am curious if in my little bubble ive been missing things out in the general aro community.
