Triple Identity Crisis
Danny had a problem. If it was a big one, he couldn't tell yet but he was partially sure Clockwork was at fault for this. Or at least he wanted to blame his ghostly godparent who most likely just wanted to cause some chaos for entertainment with the pretext of helping Danny. Which was a very likely reason for why Danny had a problem right now.
As it was the former Fenton now Fenton-Wayne boy was pacing his room in the Manor trying to think what is next step should be, because as it was his 'new' family –Did new still apply if he was living with them for a little more than a year now? – knew him under three different Identities now. And to top it all off they were not aware that the three identities were all pretty much connected as one.
For one. His family, knew him as Danny, the space obsessed kid, who became a meta because of his ectobiology science obsessed parents and his teenager recklessness. A kid that was actually a genius if you gave him enough time for school and could make you anything out of a ancients be damed toaster. That was the Danny they mainly knew. The Kid they took in, let in on the family business and then chose, to the happiness of Alfred and dismay of some of his 'new' siblings, normal life over vigilante life.
Then they knew Phantom. A dead ghost hero that was helping the Justice League and Young Justice to help them deal with the aftermath of the huge fallout caused by the GIW, Guys in White or rather Ghost Investigation Ward. And while Danny didn't know he had apparently worked with nearly his entire family and that time he knew it now. Which was awkward because he had pretty much pestered one of his elder brothers about his condition until Red Hood, aka Jason, let Phantom help him. Ancient, things might get awkward if that secret is lifted. He had done a lot of things Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Orphan and Robin had scowled him for. Thankfully they only thought of him as a dead teen hero and didn't know what a Halfa was. So they didn't make the connection, and he had yet to meet Signal, aka Duke as Phantom.
Now came the third identity, which totally did not happen by his choice. After all officially he hadn't accepted the throne yet and would only get it once he was dead dead not half dead. To bad ancient texts don't care about formalities. So when trouble hit the fan really hard the Justice League Dark had the bright Idea of getting some other worldly help. Which in other words was summoning the Ghost King. Oh boy, was it fun to learn that way that Danny could get summoned against his will. Clockwork did not give him that warning when he told him about the future of his afterlife. But best of all? Oh he doesn't get summoned as Phantom which would have made things maybe a bit easier, oh no. Life wasn't easy. He got someone's in some as a super weird black-green mass of a formless eltrich body with sharp teeth, claws and glowing green eyes with no pupils or irises. Hell Danny even scared himself when he saw his own reflection in a window and he didn't have a single idea how to change his form.
Let it be known that Danny acted then on purpose like he didn't know a single person in that room he had been summoned in right out of his bed and that he wasn't staring at his adoptive father like he needed help who interpreted his stare as the ghost king sizing him up. And Danny knows this because Dick had a good laugh about that at the dinner table with the rest of his siblings.
Now a smart person would probably come clean to his family and explain to them the three identities they knew him under and how they are connected.
To bad Danny wasn't 'smart' when it came to things like that. No in his panic and newfound awkwardness of the situation of what he had done on separate occasions with his identity as Phantom AND Ghost King, he decided to keep acting like he didn't knew them personally like the truely does. Really how hard could that be? Besides he liked the way his family treated him now. He didn't want to get treated differently because he was half dead, or a Ghost King. He liked that his family was treating him as plain old Danny who had an obsession with space and was their quirkily little brother with powers.
So that gave him even more incentive to keep the act up. Even if it was hard at times, especially if he got summoned out of nowhere. It would be easier if he could get a hang of the duplication power. He even had played with the thought of getting one of his ghost rogues to help but his family was perceptive. Maybe not perceptive enough to realise that all three identities were one and the same person but they would notice if Danny acted just slightly different or if Phantom was more of then usually. But somehow he still managed to keep it up.
But it was the hard way that he learned, Danny was bad at doing the 'talking' and realized that maybe Jazz was right and he was going to slip up one day causing huge misunderstandings like right now.
He stared down at Batman and Nightwing in his Ghost King form. Red Hood had his guns pulled on him, Wonder Woman and Superman looked like they where going to try to pull back Batman any second now while Nightwing, maybe at first was going to try to calm down the bat but Danny was pretty sure the eldest bat kid was now fiercely glaring at him too. He was also pretty sure the only reason he didn't see Red Robin or Robin threaten him too was because their super friends were somehow holding them back. For their own or his safety he doesn't know at the moment.
Because apparently the Bats did not fear fighting otherworldly beings to protect one of their own.
"What did you just say about Danny Fentons death?!" Batman grunted out and Danny just knew his adoptive father was glaring at him. Ancients Danny cursed his brain to mouth filter right now. As he had the collective hero scene before him staring at his Ghost King form. Would this be a good or bad moment to come completely clean or maybe he should find some kind of philosophical bullshit of 'All things death belong to him'....

Ot13 Seventeen : bondage (because the center pic above was on my interest home page and I immediately think of this)
seungcheol : he likes to first buy you dior and Prada and Chanel and then use the ribbons that comes along to tie your hands up when he fucks you that night.
Jeonghan: prolly ties each limb to each corner of the bed guy. Occasionally does that and teases you with toys and edges you all night long, knowing you can't do anything accept submit to him. DW he'll let you come eventually on his dick tho.
Joshua : I said before and I'll say again, he's a shibari guy. Will tie you up and leave you hanging and make you come multiple times in air using his mouth hands and various toys. Will have you crying before he let's you down and have his dick (he ain't the evil twin for nothing)
Jun : the one who likes to be tied up instead. Wants his hands behind his back tied up tightly as you bounce on his dick like he is your boytoy (he is)
Hoshi : ties your wrists and ankles together in a way you're be bending in half and opening for him with no other choice. It can be a completely romantic night or a total hard dom night, depending on his level of tiger that night. you tied up is his yeogi ocean view
Wonwoo: likes to tie around your torso like a harness and then around your neck (comfortably for you) so you'd choke for him just the right amount. Loves the way your boobs pop out of the harness.
Woozi : I have a fantasy that he'll tie you up in his studio one day because of how needy you were being while he was working and then he'll leave a vibrator pressed right against your clit and he has the remote to it so he can randomly change the settings from high to low to max anytime he wants and you're just writhing there, wetting his floor with your squirt and he might even record the sounds you make. it goes on foe eons until he is finally free from his computer and he comes and fucks you with his cock before untying you and taking you home for more (he warned you to not come to his studio so needy again or he'll torture you like that again but that's also the exact reason you keep coming back to his studio with a leaking faucet in your panties)
Minghao : he ties you up with pretty ribbons, makes you his art. He's doing it for the aesthetics but it turns him on so much. Literally wants to drink in the sight of you tied up like that in red ropes. Might take a few photos to see when he's far from you on tours and stuff.
Mingyu : ties your hands to the headboard as he fucks you in doggy. Probably bought those hot pink furry handcuffs just for this purpose. would also find other different creative surfaces throughout the house to tie you up and fuck you on.
Seokmin : he's tying you so gently when you suggested bondage because he's so scared of accidentally hurting you but he'll make them tighter on your encouragement and if you say the right words to him he'll fuck you harder than he has ever before, putting all those beautiful muscles in right use.
Seungkwan : likes to tie up your hands behind your back, esp when he being a harder dom. might even add a gag but not for long because he also loves kissing you. would get worried if the ropes leave red marks and prolly kiss them better as compensation.
vernon : likes to tie your legs together so they are just tight enough for thigh fucking. he isn't big on punishment sex, but on the nights he is going for that (since you were being too bratty all day long, literally asking for it), he'll tie you up so you can't touch yourself and would literally fuck himself everywhere but your puss.
dino : also lowkey into getting tied up instead but he underestimated how eager and needy he could be. his patience cannot deal with your slow speed but now he cant even do anything because he's all tied up and just watches you tease him and eventually bounce on his cock and give him what he desperately needs

the Bad Kids really spit in the face of Porter's philosophy this fight and it was beautiful. they were outnumbered 8 (counting Mazey and the hangman) against at the start 8 higher level enemies, but that number quickly spiraled to 11 with Jace's clones, and 14 with the 3 extra ragestars. Sure the Bad Kids eventually got a lot of helpers near the end of the fight, but only Squeem managed to do something and got people up and Bakur was a meat shield that did some damage to Porter.
Honestly, if he was smarter, Porter probably could have tpk'd the Bad Kids on his own. He had legendary resistances, legendary actions and was resistant to all forms of damage, immunity to fire, and a Barbarian's speed. Not to mention his attacks did massive amounts of force damage that Gorgug's rage doesn't resist.
If they went against him and tried to match him power for power they would have lost. Maybe they would have widdled him down, but there's a good chance they would be dead 8 vs 1, especially how tired they were from fighting off a swarm of dragons.
But the Bad Kids are good at what they do, they know there's more to fights than just damage. Strategy, utility spells, teamwork, that's what the Bad Kids used to win the day not raw power. They were smart, they targeted the squishy dangerous casters first to keep them out of play, they used their environment to get 4 deaths from lava alone.
Riz in his first turn did serious damage to the Rat Grinders with a single level 3 spell. Slowing down Mary Ann and Ruben left them so vulnerable. Mary Ann despite being a barbarian couldn't get to anyone to attack and meant she was out of the fight for the first half. Even more it destroyed the Bad Guys action economy since it meant one of the Jaces and Buddy had to use their turns to dispel the magic off their teammates, one of which was counterspelled. And of course he killed Kipperlily on his own. Drawing her ire, negating her sneak attacks against him and of course, casting hold person while she's in the lava killing her while telling her how bad she is at being a rogue.
Fabian did his thing, he is a fighter and a swords bard, it's his job to use his mobility to deal a lot of damage and boy did he do a lot of damage. He downed Ivy in a single turn and did damage to Oisin so he could be finished off with Fig. Then using his turns to draw fire, protect Mazey, give out Bardics when he could. And of course the biggest moment was freeing Bakur. In that moment, and it took a bit to pay off, they got an ally in a pit fiend, something strong and big that Porter couldn't ignore, and got the chance to get allies on the field to help them. It brought Squeem back so that he could get people up saved the day.
Fig is like Fabian, she does a lot of damage so why not celebrate it. On her first turn, she used her incredible mobility to get Oisin, probably the most deadly of the Rat Grinders (not counting Jace and Porter) as a wizard with access to 9th level spells, and she was able to almost kill him. She was also able to do damage to Ivy with her green flame blade to get her health down so Fabian could down her in one turn. She used a fire ball to kill ruben, damage Buddy, some of the Jaces, and Mary Ann, that got concentration checks on at least one Jace and Buddy that they failed losing a bigbsy hand and the banishment that Buddy was holding. unintentionally, the fireball was a big move because it got Mary Ann to target her, it's not great to have a barbarian as strong as her after you, but it kept her from attacking anyone else. It also got Mary Ann to take a lot of damage from the lava because she was so angry with Fig. Without that they would have had to deal with a second barbarian who unlike her teammates actually had some hit points. When she was back up she kills one of the Jaces with a well placed shatter. All the while acting like both a bard and a paladin, giving out bardics and doing damage to the bad guys.
Kristen, what can I say, both Kristens were amazing. I'm not a fan of K2, but she was clutch this fight, they literally couldn't have done it without her. Their healing was of course a saving grace, their support spells helped so much, and their utility was incredible. I'm not sure if they did any damage at all this fight, but they were so important. You can't really get better support than two clerics and they showed why. Keeping their party up and alive is one of the most important parts of combat. But there was also the utility they had in the fight, banishing Buddy was huge, no heals or revifiys if that was his thing, and keeping him from hurting anyone because clerics do have a lot of damaging spells. the dispel on the devil's nectar and their connection with Cassandra was clutch of course, it was what set the stage for their victory and allowed them to get Bakur on their side. And of course Ice Feast, Brennan, if you're gonna homebrew a spell for your friends, don't make it so powerful. yes, it's basically a reskin of heroes feast, but immunity to fire damage is overpowered when your final battle map has lava in it. Lava is very dangerous to those not immune to it as it killed two rat grinders and 3 of the Jaces in the fight, all while helping the bad kids and their allies.
Gorgug was amazing this whole fight, utilizing both the barbarian and the artificer part of him. He got the kill on Oisin who would have been very annoying to deal with and with his final attack he grapples porter away from his friends. It's not great for him, Porter is still a huge barbarian who can get around Gorgug's damage resistances with Force damage, but he keeps the big bad busy for as much as he can. He kept getting knocked down the whole fight, but thanks to his friends he never stayed down. Tossing a Jace into the Lava and stealing the votes from Porter with one hp was inspired. And in the final round he completely proves Porter wrong, the guy who told him being an artifer multiclass was a waste of time, who mocked him and called his gadgets stupid. Gorgug uses one of those stupid gadgets to help Adaine put the final nail into the big bad and bad teacher's coffin by taking points away from his saving throw letting Adaine's spell take hold. To add insult to injury he drops his rage for that last part just to show Porter that his toxic way of thinking didn't do him any good.
Adaine, I could talk about Adaine's amazingness in this last fight for days, she's my favorite character. This whole fight, she wasn't the blaster wizard that you expect from a lot of high level wizards. She does some damage, but her real effectiveness shined through crowd control and using utility spells to keep her party in the fight. the synaptic static was so devastating to the clumped up rat grinders and it damaged Jace before he could summon his clones so they were damaged at the start, not to mention the -d6 to a lot of their shit. she was just amazing this entire fight, even after being targeted by spells and attacks, she's the only other person kipperlily attacked other than Riz and her only successful sneak attack in her life against an enemy apparently. She also tanked several spells from the Jaces, flesh to stone, lightning bolt, bigbys hand, despite it all, she stays up until Porter has to use an aoe to deal with her, even taking some attacks from him. She saved her friends with Scatter and kept one of the Jaces out of the fight for a while, three of her friends down and she stands there looking at Porter defiantly, talking down to him and Jace despite them being teachers. And of course the detect thoughts with Fabian's brain worm present, allowing Ankarna to see the truth for herself in Porter's lies.
That detect thoughts was clutch, because like I said in the beginning, damage isn't everything. In a straight up fight they might have lost against Porter, the guy did just too much damage and was too tanky. But with that one utility spells they didn't beat Porter, but they outsourced to someone who could. They told his god the truth, that he was trying to kill her with his own thoughts, and she showed him what a goddess could do.
The Bad Kids are very powerful, but it's important to win when you're fighting for the sake of the world. It's important to be powerful but the Bad Kids are smart and strong, able to think and put aside ego and rage, something the rat grinders didn't understand. Spells and abilities aren't the same thing as being strong and now they know that

Another instalment of dinky Scott at School - I think there are (as yet unwritten) scenes in between these but I figured I’d get the key ones down then have a look and decide if it’s actually a story to flesh out or just a series of snapshots to leave as is.
Apologies to any actual teachers who may notice I am playing fast and loose with how such things might work in real life.
Disclaimer: Teeny Scooter does not actually appear in this bit, but is much discussed…
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
THE Jeff Tracy.
She’d be lying if she said she hadn’t spent most of the night revising the 6 bullet points she wanted to cover in that one 12-minute parent-teacher conference. She’d quietly ensured the slot immediately afterwards was unbookable just in case things… overran.
None of the other teachers had met him, only the mother, who by all accounts was very pleasant. She hadn’t expected him to come, assuming he was probably on the moon or something equally intrepid. But the little box next to the number 2 had been ticked on the form so unless it was a grandparent or something…
The fancier biscuits she’d picked up from the store had just been a whim… sometimes she wanted to bring a bit of luxury into proceedings, that’s all it was…
Oh heck she’d bought fancy biscuits. Just like the hopeless fangirl she was. As if he’d notice anyway?
The first parent had noticed and seemed to enjoy their chocolate dipped Viennese finger biscuit. So it was worth it.
The second set of parents hadn’t turned up at all which left her with an agonising 18 minute wait.
It was fine. Just another PTC with some totally normal parents hoping to hear what a delight their precious offspring was. And she intended to thoroughly emphasise that part right at the outset because he really was.
The other notes she had would also be fine because she had considered every possible way of delivering them and had figured out the most persuasive.
All. Fine.
She needed another word for fine.
A gentle tap-de-tap and the door cracked open to reveal a waterfall of red hair and a very friendly face. Behind, even taller than he looked on tv, towered the man from the all those documentaries she’d binge-watched as a student.
Definitely just a normal PTC.
Felicity Miles, teacher, champion of tiny people, competent human, took a breath and greeted the couple with professional confidence and a welcoming smile.
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
In the last five years she’d broken similar news to four other sets of parents, and observed her mentor do similar in her training year. Not a big enough sample to be conclusive but the fact the reaction had been the same each time had lulled her into a complacency about what to expect.
It went something like - shocked faces, initial denial, possibly a little anger, guilt that they hadn’t known, 3 of the mothers and 2 of the fathers had cried. Then, usually, she could see a little relief creeping in…. The hope that it hadn’t been something they’d got Wrong after all.
And then a brief conversation about what could happen next and arrangement of a meeting to discuss further when they’d had time to think. She’d hand them the department of education-approved info leaflets and smile and promise it would all be alright.
This one wasn’t going the way it should.
To start with there was zero surprise. Not even a flicker. In fact they’d looked at each other and smiled, before patiently listening to the rest of her little monologue. Right up until she started outlining the stages in the school’s neurodiversity support pathway at which point Mr Tracy had lifted a hand and cut in:
“There’ll be no need for anything formal. He’ll learn to manage his difficulties and he’ll overcome them.”
Felicity did her best to ignore the calm tone in his voice that simultaneously commanded she agree with him, advised it was a done deal not worth fighting against and reassured her that he was obviously right and it was all for the best. She pictured the desperate little human curled up in the Octopus House and tapped into the protective rage it generated:
“I don’t think you understand, Mr Tracy. A diagnosis would mean he could get that little bit of extra support he needs, perhaps a Teaching Assistant to keep him on track and help with refocussing when he gets distracted. He could have occasional time out on special programs to develop his interests, as I said he really does excel at maths and…”
“Ms Miles, please stop there a moment.”
She did so.
A few seconds later she remembered to close her mouth.
“Are you aware of what Scott wants more than anything in the world?”
She clenched her jaw in an effort not to snark back “a glimmer of self-esteem?” and thought about what seemed to make her zoomy little friend the happiest. The answer left her mouth before she was aware she knew it:
“He wants to fly.”
It was his mother who sighed and spoke next, the slight unevenness of her voice probably undetectable to someone who hadn’t spoken to a LOT of exhausted parents:
“He does. He always has from the moment he realised he couldn’t. Even before he really understood what airplanes were, he’s been fascinated by them and has been determined to reach the sky to join them. He seems to view gravity as a personal insult…” she chuckled then added “Being a parent to Scott Tracy is 90% catching him as he leaps from places he shouldn’t according to all the laws of physics be able to reach.”
Her husband reached over and squeezed her hand with an affectionate smile and added in a much softer tone:
“In his pram he watched the birds, it was the only thing that settled him. You won’t be surprised to learn that all of his bedroom decorations are aircraft-related. He’s not even remotely interested in space travel or what his mother and I do other than that we both flew planes first.”
Felicity could see it all but felt the conversation had gone off on a tangent. She took charge again and tried a different tack:
“But to achieve his goal he is going to need to have decent grades at the end of his education and the foundation of that starts here. He has so much potential and… look, I couldn’t give a damn about the class interruptions, please don’t think that is what this is about. I can handle all that, it’s what’s going on in his head, how he sees himself and I think we need to have something in place so that he and all his future teachers understand that… I hate to say it but for some, a formal diagnosis is the only way to persuade people that a child isn’t deliberately…”
“Ms Miles.”
The sigh escaped this time.
“Yes, Mr Tracy?”
“Do you happen to know the criteria one must fulfil to train as either a commercial airline or a military pilot?”
“Offhand? Not, precisely, no.”
“There is also an exclusionary list. Certain conditions, diagnoses, other events on a medical record that may prove to be a barrier to acceptance. Many people in the field don’t agree with everything on the list, but at the moment it exists. You’re clearly a smart woman, Ms Miles, and I can tell you’ve already worked out one of the conditions noted on that list.”
He wasn’t wrong. She hadn’t released her breath since the word ‘exclusionary’. But it forced its way out now in a quiet groan and then a whisper:
“ADHD.”

WIP Wednesday! Whoo!!! 🥳
Tagged by: @nostalgic-woodwind
I'm not sure when this'll take place.
Might be part 2 of IBS, might not be.
Idk! We'll see!
TW: Caregiver burnout, neglect, fighting, arguing, drinking, guilt, hurt, implied death, panic attack.
Tumblr media
Drift away: Husk and Angel
"Husk? Are you good?" Angel asks.
"I'm fine." Husk says. "Just...tired," he says. “Between working at the bar and taking care of you, I haven't had a lot of time to myself to just relax.” He explains.
"I know I've been regressing a lot lately, keeping you up." Angel says. “I didn't realize I was stressing you out so much, I'm sorry.” Angel says, feeling rather guilty over it, not that he can help when he regresses, but he should have noticed Husk's stress earlier.
Husk shakes his head. "No, it's not that." He lies. "Just- don't worry about it. I just need to sleep tonight and I'll be fine.” He says.
Angel raises an eyebrow. "Husk, it's fine to admit if you need a break. I know I can be a lot sometimes.”
"You're not, I just- well, you are, but I can handle it, I promise.” Husk insists.
Angel moves his head towards Husk, stretching his neck out a little, leaning over the bar to face him. "Hey, it's okay if you need a break, or just not in the mood to care for me." Angel says. "I can take care of myself for a bit. It's no big deal.”
Husk shakes his head, moving further away from Angel. "When you're little and you need me -"
"Even then." Angel says sternly. "You have to take care of yourself, Husk. If you tell me you need a few hours, I can entertain myself." Angel says. "I have for a few years now, in case you forgot."
Husk looks away from Angel again and shakes his head. "No, I can't just leave you by yourself." He says. "That wouldn't work.”
Angel raises an eyebrow at him. “Why not?”
Husk looks at him again. “You should sit down, you'll hurt yourself leaning over the bar like that.”
Angel frowns, sitting down as he was told. "I've been by myself before, Husk." Angel says. "If it makes you feel better, you can leave me with nuggets or someone else. Charlie probably wouldn’t mind if you left me with her for a bit.”
Husk sighs. “Angel-”
“Husk, you need to take a break every now and then, I'm fine.” Angel insists. “I promise I'm okay.”
"No! I can't leave you alone." Husk says sternly. "I can't!"
"What is wrong with you?" Angel asks him.
"Nothing!" Husk shouts, causing Angel to get off the stool and take a step back. His extra eyes glowing defensively.
Husk sighs. "I-” He huffs, unable to say what it is he should.
Angel looks at him with concern. "Husk…”
"I'm done having this conversation with you." Husk says, "If you really want to be left alone, I'll leave you alone."
Husk starts to walk away, obvious Angel shooting through him…
Angel's frown deepened. "Husk, I didn’t mean to-"
“I said I didn't want to talk about it.” Husk says.
“I'm sorry.” Angel says.
But Husk doesn't respond, he storms off, leaving Angel alone.
Angel feels a pain in his chest.
What did he do wrong?
~~~Husk:~~~
Husk leaves the hotel, not caring what anyone has to say about it...
Not caring if Angel hates him,
Or if Charlie and Vaggie attempt to lecture him about this...
Ic Alastor tears him apart for leaving…
So fucking be it! He doesn't care right now!
A single tear falls down his face…thinking of the last time he left someone…
He quickly wipes it away.
He needs a drink.
~~~Angel:~~~~
Angel sits back down at the bar, not understanding what just happened…
What did he do? Why was Husk so upset with him?
Tears force their way down Angel’s face…
This is all his fault!
He fucked up!
Again!
Made someone else leave him!
Why does he keep doing this- what is he doing!?
"Angel?" Charlie asks, appearing behind him. "What happened? What's wrong? Are you okay?”
Vaggie is next to her, looking just as concerned.
Angel shakes his head. "I don't know- I- I don't- Husk, he-" Angel is trembling, he's not sure why he's reacting this way, he and Husk have fought before but…
But Husk has never left him because of it, and he supposed that's what was freaking him out.
Does Husk not like him anymore?
Was he mad?
Fucking damn it! Why can't he calm down enough to talk about it!?
Maybe Charlie can help him find out what he did wrong…
"Deep breathes, Angel." Charlie says, taking his hand. "Start from the beginning. I'm sure we can work this out."
Angel nods, taking some deep breaths. "It's Husk, he's just been so stressed out from taking care of me... I'm just too much for him sometimes. I guess- I didn't realize that I was...So, I apologized and tried to convince him to take a break but then he started getting mad and-... I didn't mean to upset him." He says. "I don't know what I did! I don't know why he's so mad at me. What did I do?”
"I don’t think you did anything." Vaggie says. "Something else is probably on."
Charlie nods. "Yeah, maybe Husk is just experiencing caregiver burnout.” She says. “And maybe he's feeling a bit guilty about it.”
Angel nods. “Maybe.”
“This isn't your fault, Angel. Just be patient with him, we can talk to him together if that would help." Charlie suggests.
Angel nods. "Yeah...okay."
"We can make a schedule, set times for you to regress, and times for Husk to take breaks, days I can watch you instead. You know I'd take any excuse to take care of you for a few hours." She smiles, causing Angel to roll his eyes, smiling also.
“Everything’s going to be okay, Angel. I promise.” Charlie says. “Once Husk calms down, you two can talk it out and everything will be fine.”
Angel frowns. “But what if he doesn't want to talk to me? What if he's done with me?” Angel asks.
“...Angel.” Charlie says. “Husk…kinda cares a lot about you. He talks about nothing else, he waits eagerly for you to come home every night, his face lights up when you're around. I doubt one little squabble will change any of that.” She says.
“He does? Really?” Angel asks.
“You haven't noticed?” Charlie asks.
Angel shrugs.
“It's true, he cares about you a lot. He loves you.” Charlie says. “I'm sure everything will be fine.”
Angel smiles again and nods. “Thanks, Charlie.”
Charlie offers Angel a hug and he takes it.
It doesn't last too long though, Angel pulls away three seconds later.
“How about we watch a movie while we wait for Husk to come back?” Charlie suggested. “That'll help the time pass.”
Angel nods, arms holding his other arms. “Yeah, sounds good.”
Vaggie let's Charlie take care of Angel, taking him to another room so he can calm down some more.
Caregiver burnout is pretty normal, Vaggie deals with it all the time, and so does Charlie.
But Vaggie wasn't convinced that was all this was... No, something was going on with Husk.
And she was going to find out what it was.
~~~Husk and Vaggie: hours later~~~
Husk walks back into the hotel when he thinks Angel would give up and be fast asleep.
He knew Angel would try to stay up for him…but Angel also has work tomorrow so he can't stay up too long.
He regretted the way he talked to him, he wanted to apologize, but he couldn't face the spider yet.
He can apologize in the morning before Angel leaves.
Angel was only trying to help, this wasn't his fault.
If Husk could just learn to manage stuff better, everything would be fine.
He needs to take care of Angel, who knows what could happen if he doesn't!
His mind feels a sharp pain thinking about what could happen…
He hears glasses moving around near the bar…Niffty must be trying to hide again.
He sighs, Niffty could hurt herself doing that, he had to go over there and stop her, doesn't matter how much he just wants to pass out right now.
But once he makes it in front of the bar he doesn't see Niffty…but Vaggie.
“Hey.” Vaggie pours him a drink and hands it to him. “Rough night?”
Husk looks up at her confused. “What are you doing?”
"When people need to talk, you're there for them. You're always the listening ear, supporting everyone who needs to vent. But, you don't have that. So, I'll be your bartender tonight." Vaggie says. "What's going on?"
Husk sighs. “Is Angel okay?” He asks, figuring that she must have talked to him already.
“Angel's fine.” Vaggie says. “What's going on with you?”
Husk sighs. “I'm fine.”
Vaggie crosses her arms and gives him a look that makes him realize she's not going anywhere. “You're not.” She says. “Charlie thinks you're dealing with burnout, Angel said you refused to take a break. What's going on?”
Husk picks up the drink and closes his eyes. “I need to take care of Angel. He just doesn't understand that, I can't just take a break.”
“Why not?” Vaggie asks.
Husk takes a drink. “Because.”
“Because why?” Vaggie persists.
“Because!” Husk shouts.
“Because why!?” Vaggie asks, matching his tone.
He notices Vaggie’s face deflates.
Going from stern to worried.
The same face Angel had…
They just don't get it!
“...because I've done this before.” Husk admits. “I took care of someone…and the one time I didn't, the one time I said no is when they didn't make it.”
Vaggie's eyes widened. “Husk…what are you talking about?”
Husk has never talked about this before…not to anyone…is he really sure he should let himself be this vulnerable?
Colin and the brothel
So I've seen leaks or speculations circling around about season 3 episode 7, about how Colin would find out Penelope is Lady Whistledown. Specifically, how he would react to this reveal, apparently: they would have a big fight, and after that, he would go to a brothel in anger. The reaction to this possibilty, as far as I've seen, has ranged from at best, skeptical, and at worst, absolutely furious. Even as the leak also assured that Colin would not seal the deal with adultery, the mere implication that he would even consider it, as what I've seen, was either unimaginable or so beyond the pail that it was sufficient evidence to villify him.
For now, everything still remains speculations. If it turns out he would not go to the brothel after LW reveal, it's fine. Otherwise, if it turns out that he would go the brothel after a fruitless argument with Penelope...? ALSO FINE.
Like, is it cheap drama? Yes. Is it a valid response considering the situation? Also yes. Intrusive thoughts can be one hell of a drug. But aside from that, considering his circumstances, I would think it a pretty solid development for his character.
Let's get the meta reason out of the way: the writers need knock him off his pedestal, according to what they claimed, in order to get him and Penelope to the same (somewhat) level. So far he has been a perfect gentleman, perfectly accomodating, helpful, honest and emotionally honest with Penelope. Forgiving and compassionate. The same arguably cannot be said about her. Going to the brothels is Colin's Chekhov's gun of a crutch, a toxic, "empowering" coping mechanism for him the same way LW is for Penelope. The narrative frames his experience with the two sex workers in similar way with Pen writing a gossip column: temporary reprieves from emotional distress. Achievements that according to society they should be proud of. It would not be surprising to me that Colin would briefly retreat back behind this familiar shield after the Whistledown bomb drops on him. And what a bomb that would be.
And with his current state of mind, and the stage of their relationship, I'm not sure how else he could have reacted, beside dissociating the hell out of the situation for awhile. He could not break off their engagement, because (according to the leaks), their engagement or marriage was already public and could not be annulled or postponed without causing a huge scandal, and because he loves her, he does not want to do this. He could not tell his family, they would probably be very angry and for good reason. Because he loves Penelope and would not want to rob her of the joy of with his family at Bridgerton House, especially not after she told him how much it meant to her. Telling his family she's LW would be a pretty surefire way to end that refuge for good. He would be furious, and rightfully so. He would feel tricked. Manipulated. His opinions ignored. That his affections were taken for granted. He would feel like he trusted and confided in the wrong person. He would feel like the Marina story was repeating itself before him, made worse by the person who condemned her, the person who he thought was his best friend, who after listening to him asking her to trust him, didn't, and behind his back made decision about his future for him. Plus his own moral opinions against Whistledown's ethics and her subject matters, Colin has some pretty good, compounding reasons to be angry. That anger has to go somewhere. And there's not many places it could go.
So yeah, going to the brothel, to me, for Colin, in the moment, would feel like one of the few ways he has left to assert some sort of agency in his life. In a reductive, possibly destructive way, yes, and on surface level, strictly carnal, the two prostitutes heard him and respected his wishes. And at the moment of distress, that would feel like a lifeline. And if he can't go through with that, if he manages to rein himself in, it would speak volumns of his emotional maturity and how much he loves Penelope. That self-control of your worst impulses is also what Pen could learn from him and guess what, it helps them grow.
My opinion about BIG:
Some people use Dan’s quote about being romantically involved with Phil *past tense* means that they are only friends or in a platonic relationship now. Whilst they might be I really do think that they’re just together and it wasn’t elaborated on in BIG because it wasn’t really the point.
Like Dan discussed all his childhood trauma with homophobic bullying and the self-hate that it caused. One part that always sticks out to me is when Dan says he was young at school and a child shouted gay at him. He said that was his first time hearing it and the word stuck negatively from there. I also experienced that at a young age and like Dan I didn’t know at the time why being gay was used as a joke or insult. Whilst I probably knew I was gay then it wasn’t until years later when it actually sunk in that yeah,,, this is an unchangeable fact about my life and it is a deeply personal thing to accept. I think BIG is genuinely really moving and relatable. That’s why I feel that using BIG as ‘proof’ that they aren’t together is just silly.
BIG meant a lot to Dan and the fact he was not publicly out even to family or close friends until a month (if I remember correctly) before BIG really does show how much it took for him to accept that part of his life. Like coming out even to yourself is a big (haha) thing, doing that to an audience is scary. The video was to do with Dan’s struggle with acceptance and coming out rather than him and Phil, although those two are obviously related, I really feel the emphasis was on Dan’s experiences separate from their relationship. That’s why I feel that using it to show they aren’t together is silly,,,, because it just wasn’t the point of the video. And in terms of post hiatus vids, it’s so obvious (plus the whole building a forever home),,, I don’t think they feel they need to state anything, and I definitely feel that coming out is already a big deal, to then publicly come out With a relationship would have been even more of a thing and I just believe that’s why Dan only briefly commented directly on him and Phil,,, although it’s obvious throughout how much he means to him
sorry for rambling I hope it makes sense it just irritates me when people use BIG to say that they aren’t together. BIG was already a brave and deeply personal video for Dan, I think coming out after years in the spotlight must have been scary,,, so for people to say well if they Were together he would have come out With their relationship rather than just him,,,, but no,, I just think for Dan the emphasis was on his struggles rather than their current relationship and their current content makes it so obvious that there isn’t a need for that anyways
I don’t have anything to add to this. Everything is solid
I'm having a moment where I feel like I'm looking way too much into things but also that I am an absolute genius. You can decide which one I am.
So I'm remembering this funko shot listing pic they gave us back in november.
Tumblr media
I still couldn't tell you what I definitely think is happening in this shot (apart from a very interesting theory of a collective Vecna trance a la that hotel episode of doctor who where they all have to deal with their darkest fears in this maze of hotel rooms, much like a "crawl" in d&d would suggest, but this isn't about that idea), but I do think knowing what we know at this point about what's being filmed for s5 (and more importantly WHO has filmed together), I think it's quite telling.
Walk with me for a second.
Tumblr media
Based on things definitely confirmed about filming and potential leaks that could or couldn't be true, these groups are what I'm fairly certain about. There's been a couple rumours of El and Lucas working together this season trying to save Max, and they're next to each other. We've seen Joyce and possibly Will filming together, and they're next to each other. We also know from multiple photos and blatant spoilers that Robin and Will have been filming together quite a bit (swallowing my own opinion about that, let's just say I'm not totally thrilled), and they're next to each other. Whether Robin and Joyce have filmed anything together, idk. Then finally we know from both that pre-vis shot and the last photodump that Nancy, Jonathan, Steve and probably Dustin have filmed together in Steve's car, and oh look they're all together.
Right, Vickie. You will have to hear me out on this one. It may in part be my own desire to have Vickie actually involved in the bloody plot this time, but as far as we know about what they've filmed so far, Max is still in a coma. Vickie does not have a funko, and the Max funko in the shot seems to be furthest away from everyone, but closest to Robin, AND is faced down. Maybe they could have used Barb as another ginger girl to use as her placeholder and I'm being delusional, maybe that really is Max out of her coma fully functional by the second episode (cos oh yeah this shot is supposed to be within the first two episodes) and she's just faced down for the heck of it, but for the purposes of my current thoughts, we're going to assume it's supposed to be Vickie.
So based on all that, this is what I think could end up being some groupings for s5, at least for a little while.
Tumblr media
They don't have to be permanent (god I HOPE they're not permanent cos why are you separating stobin again), but we could get these neat little three groups of four for at least a couple episodes maybe.
Nancy, Jonathan, Steve and Dustin, pretty certain have something to do on that farm in Steve's car, although half that pre-vis said jancy were in the upside down so maybe the car splits in half, idk. If so, rest in peace Steve's BMW.
Robin, Vickie, Will and Joyce, not a clue what they're doing, but if they are one big group they seem to be switching between downtown hawkins and the farm set again. Real world or upside down, idk.
Then El, Mike, Lucas and Hopper, not a ruddy clue couldn't tell you a thing in all honesty. We know both mileven and Hopper have filmed at the radio station, but so has everyone, so they might have absolutely nothing to do with whatever mini plot this may end up being, if it is one.
Whether this shot DIRECTLY links to how these groups end up grouped up, idk but it seems likely. Whatever is even happening here could lead into it, or it could just be simple foreshadowing of some sort. Maybe my groupings are wrong, maybe I'm talking out of my arse, irdk.
Sorry I feel like that was long, I am one of this planet's ramblers I cannot keep on topic and I say things in WAY too many words, so well done if you read it all, you're mad.
how would ichigang make it up to their s/o if they accidentally hurt their feelings? could be after an argument or careless joke or comment, etc - feel like Joongi is so straightforward/blunt he would deffo get in trouble with his s/o at times
Yessss a little angst this evening, also sorry for such a late reply! Also you're so right about our Joonie lol he would totally do that.
Ichiban Kasuga
It's 100% an accident, actually. Ichiban actively tries to avoid arguments so it's more likely that he just said something randomly that didn't come off the right way.
Apologizes fervently. Even if you're not that upset or it's not a big deal, he's going to apologize. He'll probably overdo it too, bless his big dumb head.
He doesn't really ever try to make things up to people by doing things for them or buying them favors but beyond an apology, he'd probably offer to do something you want to do right then and there.
Tianyou Zhao
With Zhao, it's a 50/50 chance that it happens due to a joke that didn't come across well or from an argument. He's definitely more of a spitfire than the rest of the group.
He's more of a charmer so he'll try to cheer you up by distracting you. More inclined to try to get you to smile or laugh than to just immediatelly apologize.
Of course, eventually he'll give you a sincere apology once the tension subsides. Yes, he will offer to make you some food to make it up to you.
Joon-Gi Han
Most of the time, his blunt way of speaking and tone of voice is what hurts other people's feelings. The man doesn't even realize he's offended someone until long after the fact sometimes.
With that in mind, his apologies are kind of blunt too. He's very straightforward and never flowery with his language. Don't mistake that honesty for a lack of sincereity though, he really does feel bad.
There's not much he does to try to make up for it, mostly because he doesn't really know what people want. If you have feedback for him, he'd love to hear it though and he'll try to act better in the future.
Eric Tomizawa
He's one of the more hardheaded and stubborn guys in the group so he's more likely to upset you during an argument. He immediately regrets it though.
He's like Ichiban in that he wants to apologize immediately, but the difference is that he won't just start verbalizing his every thought. Sometimes this comes off as insincere, but truthfully he's just ashamed of his behavior and doesn't want to say anything to make it worse.
It'll take him a little time to gather his thoughts but his apologies are very thought out and sincere. He can be good with his words when he's put thought behind them. Might even bring flowers too.
Yu Nanba
One of the more sensitive of the group and somewhat likely to pick up on the fact that you're upset before you even tell him. He's also the guy the rest of the group goes to for advice if they've upset someone, for some reason.
Honestly, he'll outright ask you if he's said or done something to upset or hurt you. Being honest with him in response is the best way to work through this, as Nanba is the kind of person to want to work through it and be better afterwards.
He can't always afford to buy you favors to make up for his behavior but he is so honest and kind about it that it almost hurts in a good way.
Adachi Koichi
Shares the same trait as Ichiban in that he just sometimes says something dumb on accident and it winds up hurting someone's feelings. He just doesn't always think before he talks and Nanba usually ends up being the one to tell him that he shouldn't have said that.
The least eloquent of the group so he's pretty awkward when he apologizes to someone. He doesn't word vomit like Ichiban does, though.
Nothing solves hurt feelings better than a big hug, at least according to Adachi. Which is exactly what is going to happen as soon as he's done apologizing.
Saeko Mukoda
Similar to Joon-Gi in that her bluntness can catch people off guard. Unlike Joon-Gi, she is somewhat more aware of it but she doesn't always realize it.
She is much better at realizing after the fact she's hurt someone's feelings and will go out of her to properly apologize.
Her one weird tick is that she's a little too formal. She'll pull you aside for a private conversation or even set up a time and place to meet for her to talk about it with you.
Seonhee
She and Joon-Gi really do take turns sharing a braincell sometimes. Most of the time if she accidentally upsets someone, it's for the exact same reasons as Joon-Gi which is ironic given that she's usually the one giving him crap for upsetting someone.
Seonhee won't ask if you're upset, she'll just say "I've upset you." like it's a scientific fact. Chances are, she can exactly pinpoint what she said that upset you too. Her precision is insane sometimes.
As always, our Seonhee is absolutely no fluff and no nonsense. Her apologies are straightforward as they come, with a promise to do better.
fascinated by the implied fennec-ventress-phee friend group in tbb. even more interesting (funny) when you add boba in there during the tbobf era.
#star wars#tbb#the bad batch#tbobf#tbb phee#fennec shand#boba fett#asajj ventress#bossk#black krrsantan#i think fennec is literally the only one of bobas friends shorter than him lol#phee is normal about it#ventress on the other hand#she is like 6 ft tall she is using everyone as an armrest#okay but. now that boba is at actual war with the pikes#ventress is probably the best possible ally for the situation#like one. LIGHTSABERS AND THE FORCE#two. shes already on the pikes bad side; she has no rep to lose with the pikes if she does help boba#three. nobody in bobas entire retinue knows how to command anything larger than a small strike team#between boba fennec and krrsantan they're a full team of lone wolf solo hunters#they can barely coordinate a four person team let alone an army big enough to fight the pikes#in that last battle in bobf iirc boba straight up disappeared and returend with a rancor kaijuing everything with 0 warning to his friends#and they just kind of lost track of the shiny vespa gang#anything larger than krayts claw and boba just. loses everybody#he's busy fighting not looking for people!#on the other hand theres ventress who has several years of commanding literal millions of droids in massive-scale battles#boba: listen ill forget about quarzite if you help. please. i have an army and no clue what to do with it#boba: my friends dont know either i already asked#phee is their resident smuggler (very very useful when dealing with pike spice trade) and probably knows all the tattooine pike routes#boba please. you need some diversity on your team. you can't fight a war with eight solo assassins smushed together.
The whole "humans are inherently awful and bad!" spiel is so tiring to me as a survivor of abuse because it comes off as abuse apologia. If humans are inherently awful, then why should it matter if you're abused - that's what humans do best! Like, genuinely, I think this mindset can harm abuse victims/survivors because they're being inundated with this idea that, well, how bad can their abuser be? All humans are horrific, why complain, why escape, and why try to resist it?
I really wish people would critically analyze where these ideas come from and where these lines of thinking can lead. Maybe it's a matter that I'm looking too deep into, but this very bleak ideology is not going to help in the long run, I think, and some of the first people who are going to be crushed by it are the people who are vulnerable or who are put in vulnerable positions in society.
raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was never any less suited to leadership than leo
raph was N E V E R any less suited to leadership than leo
idk how many times i can say it before it sinks in that in rise there was never once any point where that was the point being made
if you just like leo’s character better than you like raph’s, that’s fine! if you just like it better when leo is leader, that’s fine! i have no issue!
but we need to stop trying to circle that leadership change back to somehow being about better or worse or ~more cut out for it~ because it sucks to throw the great job raph did through the series under the bus in order to prop up leo’s good qualities.
they’re both great leaders. they both have strong suits and weak suits in the role, they both have growth and development when they’re in that role. they BOTH make on-screen mistakes in that role and aren’t very good at it at first! not getting a more in-depth explanation about it in the movie or series stinks and it’s very interesting to explore, but seriously.
i think stoner dave is a inherently good concept, but also consider this: stoner rose
dave grew up with andrew tate like bro strider, who was probably so anti drugs. like dave and rose are hanging out and rose casually drops, “oh yeah, when i was high that one time-” and dave stops and is like, “😟” because he 100% thinks weed is addictive.
bro probably told him when he was younger that if you smoked weed it was the same as like crack. he’s horrified, he goes home and he’s like, “karkat!! bad news about rose 😟” only for karkat to be like, “oh yeah i’ve had edibles with her before.”
Is Cat a Kind of Inntinnsic?
The answer, the one I'm sure the author would give, would be no. The story in no way treats Cat's Gift as an Inntinnsic ability. Violet and particularly Xaden don't act as if what she does is at all similar to what an Inntinnsic does.
But I'd argue it has to be in order for it to work.
Because everything is first person from Violet's PoV or a rare chapter from Xaden, I sort of doubt the author really sat down and thought of how certain characters powers would work. If she did, i think she'd have realized Cat's Gift would function similarly to Xaden's second signet.
Cat can manipulate emotions. We're told she can't force someone to feel something they don't, but instead amplify what they do feel. On the surface that doesn't seem anything like an Inntinnsic ability. Where things become more complicated is how she uses that power.
If Cat can't implant an emotion, then she has to know what emotions the person is feeling. Sure, she could just be throwing her ability at people and seeing what sticks, or it could work in broad strokes; emotions overlap, so maybe any negative emotion can be made increasingly worse, while a good one amplified into pure elation.
I'd argue though that her power doesn't seem that broad, instead being pretty focused. Violet was easy to read so it wouldn't even have been hard to read that she hated Cat, and Cat threw out insults during their fight to make sure Violet is more susceptible to her Gift.
But the Venin she goes after at the end of the book wasn't as easy a read. She doesn't know this Venin. She's bragging and boastful, but whose to say that's greed and not pride? Or even done as a way to taunt Violet and make her more afraid?
Yet Cat manipulates the Venin without much difficulty, seeming to know exactly what emotions she's feeling without any trouble.
There's also the issue where people are generally feeling more then one emotion at a time. Violet is always in love with Xaden, but she can also be annoyed with him. Emotions aren't something that are felt one at a time--so how does Cat pick which one to manipulate without knowing instinctively what they're feeling?
I think it's very likely that Cat can either sense what people are feeling, or even see it (I'm thinking sort of like auras) and from there use her power to exaggerate which ever one she wants. It just makes the most sense.
But if that is the case, similar to how Xaden can read people's impulses and intentions, Cat could read their emotions. Now, that's not exactly mind reading, but Xaden's power isn't strictly reading minds either, yet he count's as an inntinnsic. To me what seems to make someone Inntinnsic is that they have no outward tell or rule for using their powers--they can just do it.
Dain isn't an inntinnsic because he requires touch to activate his memory seeing. As long as he does not touch you, you are safe from his ability.
Meanwhile, what makes inntinnsics such a security risk, is that they can activate their signet at anytime without anyone's knowledge. Xaden seems to be using his second signet constantly to read everyone, and no one has ever picked up on it at all.
In a way Cat's Gift seems to be similar in that she can use it without a hard and fast rule. She can just do it. If it works by letting her sense people's emotions, she could be constantly reading people Xaden does, but instead for intent, it's for their emotional state.
Does that not make her power Inntinnsic? Or at least Inntinnsic adjacent?
