You're a bit weird

"You're so weird." Chan chuckles.

Your smile drops as you stare at your boyfriend. You had gone shopping earlier with one of your friends and bought one of those inflatable alien abducting a human costumes. You put it on immediate when you got home to show Chan, even pretended you were getting abducted.

You quietly leave the room and slowly start deflating the costume. Growing up, your classmates would pick on you for being “weird.” You hate anything that would make you seem weird and often held yourself back from Chan so he wouldn't regret dating you. You didn't think the costume was weird at first, you thought it was funny and that he would get a kick out of it, not call you weird.

"Hey, why are you putting it away already? Bored?" Chan followed you out of the room when he saw your face and your head drop.

You continue to take the costume off, your back turned to him so he can't see that you're on the verge of tears.

"Y/n?" He steps closer and softly places a hand on your shoulder.

"You're right, it's weird. I'm weird, I'll return it." You sniffle as you pull your leg out of the costume.

"I didn't mean it like that. I meant that you're weird in a cute way. Why are you upset? Talk to me,"

"You calling me weird just brought up some shit. But you're right." You start rolling up the costume, attempting to get all of the air out.

"Hey, if you're weird I'm a fucking alien. Have you seen the thing I do with my arms? Class A weirdo behavior right there." He turns you towards him so he can look you in the eyes. His heart sinks to the pit of his stomach when he sees you've been crying.

"You are not weird and I don't like you any less for your quirkiness. Now put the costume back on an let's go to the dorm. The kids are going to love it."

"Breathe, Y/n." Minho places a hand on your knee.

You, for some reason, found yourself going down the rabbit hole of what happened to Goofy's wife. Immersing yourself in the lore of it all, you needed to tell someone. Unfortunately for him, your boyfriend Minho was home. He sat with you while you calmly told him the background information and went on to explain all of the theories with all of the concrete evidence you found. You had been talking non-stop for at least 15 minutes before Minho said anything.

"I was rambling again, huh?" You say sheepishly, rubbing the back of your head

"You just talk a lot."

"Oh," Your heart drops down to the pit of your stomach.

You know that you have a tendency to talk a lot, so many people have let you know over the years. You know that it could be a problem for some people. But it’s never been a problem for Minho, or at least he never let on that it’s been a problem. Normally people tell you that you talk a lot to signal that you’re being annoying. He just called you annoying.

“You can continue, what happened with the Goofy movie?” He asks, rubbing his hand on your knee.

“Lost my train of thought.” You mumble, looking at your hands and fiddling your thumbs.

“Hmm. Okay, well come find me when you find it again.” You hum in response.

You and Minho sit at the dinner table quietly eating. By now, Minho realized something was up with you. You had spent the rest of the day not talking to him and if you did you would either give short answers or make a noise. But now you were completely silent while eating. He knows you hate eating in silence and often filled the void with small talk or some sort of animated story.

“What’s wrong?” He asks, setting down his fork and leaning in.

“Nothing,” you refused to look up. It’s killing you to eat in silence but you don’t want to annoy him further.

“Y/n, I know something is wrong. You haven't said anything since this morning." He reaches for your hand and you pull away. A hurt look flashes across his face.

"I don't want to be annoying." You mumble. Minho blinks at you in confusion.

"What are you talking about?"

You go back to solely focusing on your food, leaving the room to fall in silence. Minho stares at you, wracking his brain to figure out what's wrong with you since he's clearly done something to upset you.

"Is this because I said you were talking too much this morning?" He asks, finally figuring something out.

"You said, and I quote, 'You just talk a lot.' Meaning I talk too much and you find me annoying."

"I didn't mean it like that. Y/n, I misspoke. I love when you talk. I love listening to your theories and stories. Honest. I could never find you annoying. Sure, you get on my nerves sometimes, but never annoying." Minho gets up from his seat and crouches down next to you.

"Are you sure because--"

"I'm 1,000% sure. Now come on, let's finish eating and you can tell me all about the mystery of Goofy's wife."

You have a chubby stomach

You were listening to music on your phone when Changbin stumbled into your bed room. It was well past 1 in the morning and you know that he had been busy promoting a new comeback. He had the day off tomorrow but you always tell him to just sleep at the dorm when He works late so he can go to bed sooner. He never listens. You watch as he drops his bag in it's designated corner and crawls in between you legs. He lays his head on your stomach and wraps his arms around your waist.

"Baby, why don't you go take a hot shower? Your muscles must be sore." You run your hand through this soft hair.

"I'm fine. Just wanna sleep right here." He mumbles into your stomach.

"At the very least change into something more comfortable to sleep in." You tug at his shirt.

"But I'm so comfortable. You're so soft and squishy. Like...like the pillsbury doughboy." Your hair freezes in his hair.

That comment should make you laugh. In fact, you're almost certain he said it to just that. Or he's so tired that he's speaking unfiltered. But the fact that he said that while he was laying on your stomach made you feel sick.

"Bin, get up," You tap his back to wake him up.

"No," He groans.

"Changbin, I need to use the bathroom." You lie, hoping to get him move off of you.

He groans again before rolling off of you and into his normal spot on the bed, fast asleep. You quietly make your way to the living room where you plan to spend the night sleeping on the couch.

When you wake up, a thick blanket is covering you and Changbin is fast asleep on the floor next to you. You carefully crawl over him, as to not wake him up, and head to the kitchen to make yourself a cup of coffee. You sit in silence, replaying what Changbin said last night repeatedly in your mind.

"Why did you sleep on the couch last night?" Changbin walks into the kitchen rubbing his eyes.

He must have sensed that you weren't near him. You knew you didn't wake him up when you walked past him earlier and you weren't being loud right now either. He almost always wakes up when you're suddenly not near him anymore. It was kind of cute.

You continue to make your coffee, refusing to acknowledge him. You feel bad for blaming him. You're almost certain that he didn't mean to say what he did when he called you soft and squishy. But if he said that when his brain was too tired to filter the words, then he's been thinking it for a while.

"Hello? Y/n, are you listening to me? Am I invisible?" He asks, walking up next to you.

You finish making your coffee and leave the kitchen. Changbin stands in confusion for a second. You pull out your phone and head to the couch.

"Hey! Why are you ignoring me?" Changbin yells, quickly getting more frustrated.

"I don't know, why don't you go and ask the pillsbury doughboy." You spit, not looking up from your phone.

"W-what? What are you talking about? Are you drunk?" He questions.

You sit in silence, going back to ignoring him. Changbin stands in the kitchen thinking about what could have possibly happened.

"Pills...pillsbury...doughboy...doughboy...dough...ah...aH AH! Wait," You hear him scramble out the kitchen and slide in front of you.

Your eyes meet his panicked ones. He realized what he said the night before, finally. He knows that you struggle with your weight and the last thing he ever wanted to do was to make up feel uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I promise. I was just really tired and that was my attempt at being funny." He says quickly.

"You called me soft and squishy," You grumble.

"I like soft and squishy! I'm soft and squishy. Look, poke me in the stomach," He quickly lifts up his shirt, exposing his stomach. He's purposely pushing his stomach out.

"Changbin--"

"Poke it, Y/n." He urges. You sigh and humor him by poking him right above his belly button. He immediately lets out the most high pitched giggle you've ever heard from him.

You can't help but laugh, doubling over in laughter. Which causes Changbin to laugh and then you to laugh even harder. You manage to put your coffee cup on the floor to avoid spilling it on the couch while you laugh.

"S-see. I'm a pillsbury doughboy. We can be soft and squishy together."

"Okay, B-bin." You wipe tears from your eyes and smile at Changbin.

"And if I ever hurt your feelings in the future, just tell me. How am I supposed to fix it if I don't know what's wrong?"

Hyunjin stares in shock when you moved away from him the second he tried to cuddle with you.

"What is this? Do you not love me anymore?" He cries.

"I'm just giving you space like you wanted," You whisper as you tighten the the blanket around yourself and squeeze the stuffed animal you are holding closer to your chest.

"When you did I ask you to give me space?" His eyes focus on you but he couldn't see your face. It's hidden behind the blanket and you're staring forward at the tv.

Earlier in the day you were feeling needier than usual and wanted nothing more than to cuddle with Hyunjin. You know he doesn’t like skinship unless he initiates it, but he let’s you get a pass on that rule. But, for whatever reason, Hyunjin snapped when you were trying to cuddle into him and asked you for some space and called you clingy. You went into the living room, grabbing a stuffed animal and blanket with you.

You had boyfriends in the past that broke up with you because you were too clingy. Its made you be overly cautious at the start of your relationship with Hyunjin but over time you grew more comfortable around him. Hearing him call you clingy earlier set you off worrying that he was going to leave you.

“Oh, this morning?” He asks softly when he sees a tear fall down your face. He gently wipes the tear with the pad of his thumb and stares at you with soft eyes.

“Yeah, when you called me clingy.” You whisper.

“I’m sorry for that. I didn’t mean—Ah, don’t cry more.” Hyunjin wraps you in a hug and strokes your back.

“S-sorry. I just don’t want you to leave me.” You sob.

“I’m not leaving you, I promise. I was just annoyed and needed a little bit of space. But I’m sorry I made you think that you were being annoying.”

“It’s o-okay. Just brought up some stuff.”

“To make up for it, we’re going to stay like this until you think I’m being clingy.”

“You’re going to be there forever then, Hyun.”

“If it’s you, I’m fine with that.”

You can't sing

"Ah, my ears! I think they're bleeding." Jisung laughs.

You two were home all day and you suddenly started doing karaoke on your phone. You know you can’t sing, it’s a fact you’ve known about yourself your whole life. It’s the fact that your boyfriend, who has so much talent that you’re not even sure how there’s any left for the rest of the world, is the one who pointed it out.

Losing confidence, you finish the song quietly. Jisung thought that you were just tired from singing the ballad and quit halfway through.

"Let's do a duet," He says excitedly, taking your phone out of your hands to look for the next song.

"My throat hurts. I'm going to get some water. Why don't you do a solo?" You softly smile before getting up and heading to the kitchen.

"Why won't you sing with me?" Jisung whines from the floor. He had done about 5 more songs and after each one he asked you to sing with him.

"My throat still hurts, Ji." You lie.

Jisung stares at the ceiling for a few minutes before picking up your phone and choosing a new song. He quickly stands up and hands you one of the fake mics.

You watch in awe as Jisung purposely butchers the song and waits for you to join in. You can't help but laugh.

'What are you doing you can sing better than that" You giggle.

"I know I can but I need to match my Jagi's amazing abilities." He says, pushing the fake mic toward you again. You sigh and take the mic from him and humor him.

"See, you can still have fun even when you don't sound the best." Jisung adds.

"I never said it wasn’t fun.” You groan.

"Yeah, but I know it hurt your feelings when I pretended to hate your singing. I’m sorry by the way. I’m used to making those joke with the boys.”

“Don’t be sorry, it’s the truth.”

“It’s not the truth. You’re my favorite singer. Now please sing a duet with me and make my dreams come true.” Jisung pouts.

“You are so lying through your teeth right now, but I’ll humor you.” You roll your eyes and get off the couch. Jisung walks closer to you so you two can pick a song together.

“I really am sorry. You know I would never purposely hurt your feelings.”

“I know, Ji. And that’s one of the reasons why I love you. Now pick a song.”

You're a bit dumb

"Shit!" Felix slams down the controller and places his head in his hand.

"Sorry, I was trying to get--" You try to explain as you watch his character die on screen. You were playing as healer and accidently put him in a position to die rather than heal him. That was his last life for this round, he'd have no choice but to spectate for the rest of the game.

"That was the dumbest shit you've ever done." He groans.

"Lix, I was trying--" You take your eyes off the screen and look at your boyfriend who was running his hands through his hair.

"Look out-- you've got to be joking. Are you stupid, why would you look away? Now the rest of the team is going to have to play without a healer for the rest of the round." You watch as Felix rest his head in his hands.

You get up and storm into the bedroom, no longer wanting to play games with him. You know he can get mad during games. It was cute and often you would just watch or sit with him while he played so you could watch him struggle. What you couldn't deal with, was him calling you stupid.

You know you're not dumb, but you also know that you're never the smartest person in the room and you're okay with that. You do dumb things and you're okay with that. But you've heard enough people insult you for your little slip ups and berate you by calling you dumb.

You hear the door creak as Felix pokes his head in. You roll your eyes and bury your face into the bed. You feel the bed dip down around you and Felix lay his entire body on top of yours. He fidgets a bit while he tries to worm his arms under you and hug you. He presses a kiss to the back of your neck before turning his head so he could lay down comfortable.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to call you stupid. I just got carried away while gaming.” He mumbles into your back.

“I know, but it still hurts.” You pout. You turn your head so you can get some air.

“I know. I promise to not do it again. How can I make it up to you? Kisses?” He asks, slight wiggling his fingers into your side.

“I think yes." You giggle, unable to resist his tickling.

"Really? How many?" He laughs.

"Hmm... five hundred?"

"Five hundred! Well, I guess I better get started now." Felix starts peppering your face with kisses.

You're a bit immature

"Oh wow, Y/n, that was so mature." Seungmin says dryly walking into the room.

You giggle as you finish making breakfast for yourself. Last night you had the idea to mess with Seungmin's shampoo bottle and to rig the sink to spray him with water as a harmless prank. He's always pranking you and you finally had a way to get him back. You put a bit of plastic wrap between the bottle and the cap so none would come out. You thought it would be extra funny to do it to all the bottles in the bathroom. You heard him yell while you were cooking and laughed. And then you taped the faucet so that it would spray water on him when he went to brush his teeth. You know that the first thing he does when he wakes up is brush his teeth so only his pajamas would be wet.

Only, you didn't account for Seungmin waking up late. You only woke up because he started swearing loudly when he woke up. He has an important meeting and you felt a little bad, but by the time you realized he was already in the bathroom and locked the door. So, you went ahead and made something that he could eat on the way since he wouldn't have much time to sit and eat and slipped it in his bag.

"I'm sorry Minnie, I couldn't help it. It was really funny." You giggle again.

"You really need to grow the fuck up," He grumbles before he leaves the apartment, not saying goodbye.

You could understand his anger. He hates being late so that, on top of your little series of pranks, was a justifiable reason for him to be mad at you. What you couldn't deal with is the face that he told you to grow up.

You've grown up with your parents constantly telling you to grow up anytime you were enjoying something. Maybe you were being childish, but it rubbed you the wrong way and now two of you are in a bad mood.

When Seungmin came home, you were nowhere to be found. Seungmin spent most of the day in a bad mood and when Chan asked him about it, that's when he felt bad about how he reacted this morning. Chan let him go home after the meeting so he could fix things with you.

He looked around the apartment for you and couldn't find you anywhere. He knew he was a bit harsh, not even saying goodbye to you as he left, but he didn't think you would leave.

He sat down on the couch and waited. He knew you possibly couldn't have left him over this morning. The two of you had bigger arguments over the years that would make more sense for you to leave.

After and hour of waiting, Seungmin decided to clean up while he waited. He went through his bag that he took with him to work and found the egg sandwich and coffee that you made for him. Feeling even more guilty for his behavior this morning. He quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket and tried calling you. The phone rings for a couple of seconds before it goes to voicemail. He then sends you a series of text, getting frustrated when he sees the little 'read' message indicator appear under each of his messages.

A few more hours after that you finally come home. You find Seungmin in the kitchen cooking dinner.

"Oh, so you do remember where you live. Do you remember that you have a phone too?" Seungmin asks.

"And I'm the childish one," You mumble under your breath as you walk to the bathroom.

When you turn the water faucet on, the water sprays out at you, soaking your clothes. You took the tape off earlier when you went to brush your teeth so that shouldn't have happened.

"Seungmin, what the fuck?" You should, walking into the living room in your drenched clothes.

"Ha, it worked." He smirks while looking down at the pot he was currently checking.

"Oh, so. it's funny when you do it but childish when I do?" You roll your eyes.

"I never said that you were childish." He turns the fire off under one of the pots and wipes his hands clean on his apron.

"You implied it."

"Is that why you're mad at me? Because you think I called you childish?" He stays in the kitchen but cocks his head to the side.

"I know you did, I was there."

"I'm sorry for snapping at you. I had no right to take my anger out on you. And I'm sorry for calling you immature."

"Sorry for overreacting to you calling me immature." You mumble, digging your foot into the carpet.

"Good, now come give me a hug."

"My clothes are soaked."

"It's just water, idiot. I'll live."

You're loud

"You're being so loud." Jeongin groans.

You immediately shut up, not realizing that your volume had increased while you were talking. Of course, you’re aware of your habit of talking loudly when you’re excited. You were mostly good at catching yourself before his happened. But some time you got carried away.

You know he's joking. He has to be. But something in you tells you that he's not. You press your lips together as your eyes shift around the room. You two were hanging around some of the other boy, but everyone was minding their own business. You quietly mumble a sorry and pull your phone out.

The rest of the time you hung out with Jeongin and the boys, you hadn't said a single word. The other boys had picked up on what was going on and Jeongin was blissfully unaware.

"What about you, Y/n? What do you want to eat?" Jeongin asked you, patting your leg.

You shrug your shoulders, not looking up from the book you are reading. Jisung remembered that he was supposed to let you borrow a manga series a few weeks ago and brought out the first few books for you to read when he realized you weren't going to talk anymore.

"I know you're picky, but they have a lot of things you like so tell me what you want." He pats your leg again, thinking you're too engrossed in the book to answer him.

You roll your eyes and pull out your phone and send a text to Jisung with your order before putting your phone back down and picking up the book.

"She said she was spicy cheese tteokbokki with egg and extra fishcake and a honey lemon bubble tea. And she said she doesn't care which piece of chicken we get." Jisung says loudly to Seungmin who is ordering the food.

"Why didn't you just say that?" He asks confused, looking at you while trying to read your expression.

"She's not talking to you, idiot." Hyunjin says from his spot on the floor. He and Felix are looking at something on Felix's laptop.

"What? Why?" Jeongin says, whipping his head towards Hyunjin.

"She hasn't said a single word in two hours after you said she was being loud. Which, if you think she was being loud, what the fuck do you think of Changbin hyung? Anyway, you probably hurt her feelings." Seungmin adds.

Jeongin turns his back to face you. You brought the book closer to face to avoid looking at him.

"Did...did I hurt your feelings?" He asks softly. He leans his head on your shoulder.

"Yeah, you did." You mumble.

"I'm sorry, jagi. I didn't mean it in a mean way. I just meant that you were getting loud, but I rather be loud than never hear you again." He kisses your cheek and you melt. You know that he's not big on pda and if he's willing to kiss you in front of the other boys he must be sorry.

"Oh, I'm about to be so annoying." You laugh.

“where is this lil nigga ?” you said to yourself as you shivered outside the movie theater looking over your shoulders trying to spot him , when you couldn’t you grabbed your phone to check his location . it was off , n he only turned it off when he was doing sum he wasn’t supposed to . you decide to text him again and ask if you should just go home . surprisingly he responses within a minute. “nah go inside and start watching it i’ll be there .” you read it in a mimicking voice then he text again “15 mins ma , swear ill be there” you just send an eye roll emoji and head inside . you show the worker your ticket , gets your snacks nn just go watch the movie . after what seems like WAY more than 15 minutes you can sense a brownskin demon enter the building. and you were right , he sits down beside you and takes some of your popcorn looking at you . “ you look good , what i miss bae” you slow turn your head to him with a stank face “what i miss bae” you say mimicking him and he rolls his eyes and kisses your cheek “m sorry i got you sum it’s in the car , an apology to say the least .” he says putting his arm around you and moving closer . “you like making me look like a dummy ? this the 5th date you been late to , starting to seem like youn really care .” you say in a hushed voice looking back at the screen and he smacks his lips . “ don’t start bro , you know i got shit to do . you know i care and i don’t mean to be late im sorry baby” he says removing his arm and sliding it onto your knee and rubbing all the way to your thigh at a slow pace . “yeah i do know u got shit to do BRO but you gon be late every single time ? jus lmk what we really doing . you could just plan better” you say softening your voice and sipping your drink and he sighs rubbing his temple with his free hand . “im sorry mama , i need to be better and i will . trust me ima start doing right , these dates mean a lot to me , and im fucking them up . im sorry , imma be better for you okay ?” he says facing you and you turn to look at him too , its dark but you can still see the genuine look on his face . “i love you girl , and i do care . don’t ever question that ight ?” he says putting his hand on your neck to kiss you deeply and you return it of course . “i love you too miles , m sorry for being so harsh” you say pecking him one more time “you wasn’t being harsh i deserve it , you wanna stay and watch the movie or leave ?” he says adjusting his position and putting his arm back around you, “well shit i already watched half the damn movie let’s just finish it” you say and he chuckles leaning to peck your forehead again “whatever you want princess .”

there are a lot bits and pieces still going around and being discussed about the hengdian clownery. personally, the most interesting is the fact that where wyb is supposed to be is 15 minutes away to where xz is staying in hengdian — and the timeline we are now piecing together. 🧩

where wyb was supposed to be is not actually inside “hengdian world studios” but as good as. to those who are confused because what people are posting is that douyin has him located in “dongyang” last 2/18 and allegedly last 2/2. well, this information below may explain why:

XZ is staying at Radisson Hotel which is where WYB also stayed when he did LOF and Luoyang. XZ used it too when he was filming YGY and this filming time was when an AUX appliance ( endorsed by WYB ) was found sent to the hotel. So you can say that they are familiar with this place so if there is somewhere to meet then this is their best bet. I’m pretty sure this place is discreet and employees may be given NDAs by companies that have their talents staying there. In this case, a VIP client like Xiao Zhan will not be there and continue to do so without specific arrangements done for him.

there is also a comment from someone who is familiar with Hengdian, that this hotel is close to the expressway, like 3-5 mins away. so it is convenient if you need to move around. we don’t really know anything about WYB’s movie or whatever project he is doing, but seeing this, it’s most likely in Zhejiang. this makes sense cause when the news about the location was out, others tested it and wyb was no longer 7km away but 30km. meaning he has left the hotel and posted on douyin on his way back to work. this is a classic meeting up on their part when their locations are close.

2/2 - WYB’s douyin IP is turned off. This only means his IP will not be visible in his profile, but his location can still be tracked when he posts something ( allegedly ). So it could be because he went to HD or they have plans of meeting up so it’s best to be safe.

2/5 - XZ went to Hangzhou to film his performance for BRTV spring festival gala. XZS shared a behind the scenes of that and one thing cpfs noticed was a particular suitcase. the comment was hilarious actually cause the fan was asking why the suitcase was so old and beat up 😂😂😂

turns out, this looks really similar to a suitcase wyb used back in 2016. it makes sense that it’s beat up and covered in different things now. i know that wyb is not the only person who can have this suitcase but this is just how cpns go. 🤷🏻‍♀️

my clown mind also likes the idea of wyb being there. it’s not as notorious as hengdian world studios with all the paparazzi. the place xz shot this at is pretty lowkey, so wyb can blend in if he visits.

2/9 - GG posted a selfie which has it’s variety of cpn speculations on it’s own. however, looking at it with what we have now — this makes more sense now:

the second photo shared by xz is really a clue. the ybo art was also so focused on how the ornament was placed. maybe yibo was the one who placed that? and it’s why xz was so fixated. ☺️

and so they were both quiet for the duration of the holidays. xz breaking that with the 5th day for the god of wealth — which is a stock video. i don’t fault him for that tho, he is free to relax.

2/13 - WYB has added some love songs to his qq playlist and the subjects of it : “accompanying is the longest love confession” and being happy despite of a cloudy day? It could be he is missing XZ, especially that Valentines Day is the next day. Maybe he traveled to closer to XZ on 2/14. Take note that XZ is continuously working on the drama, he only had a few days completely off.

2/17 - XZS posted a series of photos that some of his solo fans said is different from what was shared last year. It can be they couldn’t do any new materials because XZ was busy with work + WYB is there. Who knows when they will be able to spend this time together again. I like the idea of their staff respecting their time alone together. They both deserve it 🤎

“Hi, could you tell me till when is this place open?” The movie was supposed to go on till 8, and I was hoping I could still come to the bookshop and get my list.

“Till 8.” The cashier replied without looking up.

“Shit.”

He looked up, his face in a frown, as his dark eyes questioned the sudden curse word, I blurted instinctively, “Can I help you?”

“Would it be possible to keep the shop open for like ten more minutes?” Hoping he saw the desperation in my eyes. “Yoongi…” I read his name tag, “I have a list of books to buy, I promise, but I have a movie to catch before and…”

“You can take books inside the hall.” He said, again in his deadpan voice. “They let you.”

“Oh, I know, I just,” How will I explain this? “I’m on a date, or I have a date. And, it’ll be too nerdy, I think if I take like ten books inside the hall. And, it’s arranged by my parents, so I gotta be on my best behaviour which means I gotta act a certain way, and umm, carrying a heavy bag of books will not work if that makes sense.”

“It doesn’t,” Yoongi replied.

“Just till 8:10. The movie finishes at 8 so I promise I’ll be here at 8:02 and be out of here before 8:10!” I tried to reason with him.

“You are going to run out of the hall and be here in 2 mins after your movie end?” He repeated, and I nodded my head. “Not gonna say bye to your date?” He smirked.

“Shit.”

Yoongi's smile reached his eyes, “Did you say you want to buy ten books?” I nodded. “You have a list?”

“It’s in my phone,” where was this going?

“Give it to me, and I’ll keep them ready.” He put out the placard with the shop’s email. “Till 8:20, not a minute late.”

“Oh my gosh, yes, thank you so much!” I quickly snapped a picture of the email, “I’ll just email this to you!” I said, running out of the shop.

Turns out, this guy was worse off than the previous date I had been on. I really thought watching a movie will make this date fun, and bring out character, but my mother’s next-man-I-should-be-considering-to-date was here in a suit, looking extremely out of place, and typed on his phone for the major part of the movie. I wanted to ask why he bothered to turn up since we had spoken ten lines to each other, and he took a call between these lines, where he spoke way more, but he wasn’t interesting enough for this introspection.

“Okay, so thanks for the movie,” It was 8:01.

“Yeah, this was fun. Let me walk you to your car,” he said between sending another message.

“I’m actually going to go to the bookshop.”

“It’s going to be closed right now.” Most of the shops were shutting down around us.

“The person at the store told me he will keep it open.” Wow, we are at 15 lines.

“I’ll walk you till there, then.” He nodded. He got another call on the way, and I increased my pace.

The door of the shop was open, and I hoped he would leave me here and go on with his texting.

“It’s a friend’s birthday tomorrow, and I’m planning it,” my date finally wrapped his call after making me stand another minute in front of the shop. It was 8:07, and I could see Yoongi prepping to close the store. “But, this was fun. We should do this again! Why don’t you come for-“

“Why?” I said, losing my patience. “Why should we do this again?”

“You didn’t like a movie?” He asked, laughing.

“I don’t need a date to watch a movie.”

“We can do something else, then,” He said, dismissing my comment. His phone started ringing again.

“No, once was enough. I don’t think I need to see you text in another setting.” I said. “Thanks for today, though. I’ll see you around.” I waved and took a step inside the store.

“I told you that I’m planning a party tomorrow,” He yelled, annoyed.

“And I just told you that a second date is not happening. Have a great party!” I pushed the shop door so it’d close on his face, but it was too slow for it to have that BANG effect.

I turned around to see, Yoongi staring at me, “Sorry, was I not supposed to close the door?”

“No, close away. He is still standing there, though,” Yoongi pointed at the door.

“I can’t turn around. It’ll ruin my swag,” thankfully, Yoongi looked amused.

“Here are your books,” He put three big bags in front of me. “15 in total, you can check, of course,” He pushed them towards me. “He is still standing outside, by the way. Was the date that bad?” I’m sure my face looked more confused than it really was, but the bag was missing a few books. “I kinda heard your interaction.”

“He was on his phone the entire time. Why come on a date if you can’t give your time?” I explained, “A few books are missing. Did you get the second screenshot too?”

“Yeah, they are out of stock. Should be coming in next week cause I just placed an order for them.” Yoongi helped put the books back in the bag.

“No worries, I just want to stop going on these stupid dates. My mother calls it networking? Something I should be doing in a new city, but I’m not making friends like this. And he was just rude. Fuck, is he still out there?” I couldn’t turn back, but Yoongi’s face had a small, pitiful smile as he nodded.

“I can’t go out with these books. Why isn’t he leaving!”

“Why can’t you go out with these books? The date was a failure. Who cares?” He shrugs.

“No, 'cause he will go back and tell his friends that I was the unsociable one who walked out with three huge bags of books, and who does that on a date? But the actual narrative will be that he was the asshole who answered five calls while the movie was going on!”

“And how will you tell this narrative to all the people?” Yoongi laughed, handing me the bill, “I mean, you are new in the city, right? How will these ‘people’ know?”

“I was just going to tell my mother,” I shrugged. “The circle of the rich and powerful is tiny. It will trickle down from my mother to her friends, to the kids, and there will be another narrative of why I’m declining a date with the son of the owner of Exon Internationals.”

“Oh, is that Jae?” Yoongi looked over my shoulder again, and why was this man not leaving? “Looked familiar…”

“You know him?” Shocked cause why would a bookshop cashier know my date? I didn’t know him before, I was shown his face and given his credentials either.

“It’s a tiny circle,” Yoongi smiled. “So, you can’t walk out with these books?” I shook my head. “Okay, I’ll walk out with you then? These will be my books.” He switched off the computer and took his name tag off. “Give me a second,” He said, walking to the backroom. He came out in a second, switching off the lights, with his blazer in his arms. I couldn’t help checking him out. He was lean, but his arms looked strong. Not to mention, he was handsome, way more than serial texter Jae.

“Let’s go?” He took the bags off the counter and walked towards the door. Jae was still there, and he looked up as we came out of the store.

“Yoongi! Hey man! What are you doing here?” Jae exclaimed the most animated he had been tonight.

“It’s my store,” Yoongi said as he entered the lock code in the system. “How have you been? I heard about the London meeting.” What was happening? How did Yoongi know him?

“Yeah, man! But dad is handling that! What a blunder, man. I gotta learn from you!” Jae was buttering Yoongi up. He looked almost submissive as Yoongi stood tall in front of him. “But, what are you doing here? Dad told me you visited stores, but you’re like fully working and all.”

“I’m so confused,” I mumbled, looking between both of them.

“Hey! You know him. This is Min Yoongi. He is the prince in line to take over the Min Books!” Jae was indeed a fan, it seems. Min Books, a chain of mega bookstores. They were redefining reading, as the articles will tell you.

“Prince?” Yoongi coughed. “You’re always funny, Jae. Shall we walk to your car?” Yoongi looked at me.

“I took a cab,” I deadpanned.

“I’ll drive you then. Mind holding my bags for me? It’s getting chilly,” Yoongi handed me the bags as he wore his blazer. “It was nice seeing you, Jae.” He shook Jae’s hand, who still was looking at Yoongi like he was a rockstar. “Come on,” He took the bags from me and started walking towards the parking lot.

I quickly looked at Jae, who looked at me, wanting to say something, but I promptly muttered bye and ran behind Yoongi. “Here, let me take these,” I asked, pulling the bags.

“It’s no problem at all,” Yoongi smiled.

“Thank you for saving me there. You are quite the rockstar.” I said, catching up to his speed. “I’ll need to go the opposite way for the cab though…”

“I’ll leave you home…if that is okay with you?” He stopped.

“You’re Min Yoongi…” I looked at him, my cashier for the day.

“I am.”

“You’re on my mother’s list of people I should date…”

“L/N?” He questioned like he didn’t bill the books to my name. “I think we are scheduled for next Friday?” His smile really does reach his eyes.

I don’t rlly like writing about addiction but I felt like this was a projection of me on the girl character and Matt was a projection of a guy I knew. It’s really fucked and shitty story and I wrote it in 30 mins but enjoy?? I skimmed through it so not rlly proof read

I was 15 when I started using.

I don’t feel like saying why, it doesn’t really matter anyways. It started off as a social thing and then I started using it 1-2 a week, and then every other day until I was doing it every chance I had.

When I was 16 I fell in love with Matt, he knew me more than anyone. He didn’t get scared when he learned I was an addict, instead he helped me.

I was 17 when I got clean. It was really bad. It wasn’t the right time for me. I was too young.

I guess that’s why I relapsed 6 months ago.

Addiction loops time. Again and again.

I would relive the same day over and over and I was twenty 3 months later.

Matt didn’t know I relapsed, I didn’t want to tell him but I wanted him to see I needed help. I guess that’s why I stopped trying to hide it

The two stood are the street after coming back from eating.

“are we taking the bus? It would be funnn”

I was giggly from the drugs and alcohol but it wasn’t unusual for me

matt looked at me

Matt’s pov

She was leaned against a pole but this time she looked so different, skinnier her cheeks were more sunken in and her bags were worse. What happen to her?

the beach was my favorite place when I was sober. The smells and waves. I would stay for hours with Matt.

I was here again but It wasn’t the same. I couldn’t feel anything. I don’t know why but I stood up and walked to the shore, not even the cold water startled me. I just kept walking into the ocean, I needed to feel something, I felt stir crazy.

“what are you doing?!” Matt yelled

That never stopped me.

Matt ran toward the girl into the sea trying to find her, he called her name and looked her something. She popped up.

“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?” He yelled at her with a large distance between them.

A/N: Here is part two, I have enjoyed writing this hence why I am getting the parts up pretty quickly. Feedback is welcome and so are request!

Note: this is a bot of an AU where Iceman is fine and better!

Jakes POV

“Daddy,” I hear a whisper next to me and a slight tap on my shoulder opening my eyes to see my daughter with a sad look on her face.

“What’s the matter Daisy?”

“Thena gone.” She replies tears brimming in her eyes and I shoot up out of bed, any indication that last night was a dream gone as I look at the tears threatening to fall.

“No baby maybe she just had an early start you know how she likes to wake up early to go make sure everything is safe for you.” She nods and starts making grabby hands indicating she wanted to be picked. I picked her up and headed toward the kitchen to start breakfast looking at the clock seeing that it was only 7am, Sarah wouldn’t be here for another half an hour to pick Daisy up. We eventually sat down for breakfast when there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see Sarah standing there a wide grin on her face as she stepped through the house.

“Hi miss Daisy” Daisy lifted her head with a small smile.

“Hi grandma Sarah”

Sarah shot me a confused look and I sighed normally Daisy would jump out of her seat for Sarah.

“Y/N got home last night, but was gone before we could wake up.” Sarah nodded immediately understanding the gloominess of the two Seresin’s.

“I am sure she will be home tonight Daisy, until then did you want to spend some time with me and Papa Ice and we can go to the zoo” Daisy head pops up and she sprints to her room to get ready suddenly excited at the sound of going to he zoo.

“I will grab some money for you to take her to the zoo, Sarah, thank you for looking after her.”

“Don’t you dare Jake, it is always our pleasure, since Ice got better he loves spending time with her and besides I know how hard it is for kids to grow up in this lifestyle.”

“Thank you” I say giving her a hug, for some reason this last deployment of Athena’s seemed harder than normally and now with this mission we are all stressed, the only silver lining was that Iceman was better lifting everyones spirits slightly. “Can you help Daisy get ready, I need to be on base in 30 mins.” Sarah nodded before walking into Daisy’s room.

After getting ready I waved to Sarah and Daisy before heading off towards base. When I arrived I walked into the classroom to noticed I was the last one to arrive with still no sign of Athena anywhere I start thing maybe she hadn’t been recalled and was just home early from deployment. As I took my seat next to Coyote, Warlock and Cyclone walk in explaining the details of the mission.

“And now to introduce the pilot instructed to teach all of you how to successfully fly this mission……Captain Pete Mitchell call sign Maverick.”

I turn to see Mav walking down the centre of the chairs, he hives me a subtle nod as I see Coyote Payback and Fanboy drop their heads while an angry look crosses Roosters face.

“What did you do Coyote”

“We throw him overboard about 1 min after you left last night.” I laugh lowly as Mad starts talking about the F-18 handbook.

“Today’s training will be basic dogfighting, you will be going up in pairs, first up Hangman, Payback and Fanboy, be ready in 15, I will meet you in the air.” We all start to stand up and head towards our jets, I see Rooster looking angry.

“Rooster man you okay?” He rolls his eyes at me

“Go away Hangman.”

“Okay but just so you know you can talk to me I know normally you would talk to Athena about it but you can talk to me.”

“I really thought she would be here.”

“Me too.” We turn to look as we hear a jet take off from the 2nd runway where the instructors planes normally are.

“Well that must be Mav that’s my cue, don’t let whatever is getting to you get to you Rooster.” I leave it at that and walk toward my jet before doing pre-flight checks. Once I was ready to go I lined up on the tarmac as Payback and Fanboy take off, after I have taken off we start idling above the training area waiting for instructions.

“Morning Aviators and welcome to basic dogfighting, you are not to go below the hard deck of 5,000 feet. The goal shoot before you get shot down.”

Mav starts through the radio before Payback interrupts.

“What happens if we don’t, sir”

“I shoot back.” I can here the snideness in his voice.

“How bout we put some skin in the game.”

“What are you thinking Payback?”

“Whoever gets shot down has to do 200 push ups.”

“Alright you are on Payback.”

“Guys. That is a lot of push ups.” My heart nearly plummets to the ground when I hear the voice through the radio, a voice I would no anywhere suddenly the sun is blocked out of my canopy and I look up as I see Athena had moved her jet so she was upside over my jet.

“Hey cowboy, miss me.”

“Shit is that…” Payback breaks through the radio and Fanboy finished the sentence

“Athena, shit.”

Readers POV

I giggle as I hear Payback and Fanboy swear looking down at Jake just able to make out the shocked expression, i knew he knew i was home but I had still managed to surprise him.

‘Alright boys, its on.’ I quickly break away from my inclined position getting into a fight position, I knew Jake was going to be the tough one to beat, i also knew he had a bad habit of leaving his wingman so I went after Payback and Fanboy first, the put up on hell of a fight radio for Jake who i had seen sneak up behind me arrogance in his voice.

“This fellas is how you kill a goddess.”

“Right Hangman, time to teach you a lesson,,,,you’re out Payback.”

“Copy Athena” i break away and Jake follows as i start flying toward the sun, i can hear him asking payback for help to which payback responds with ‘i’m dead dickhead.’ And I giggle knowing i am now out of jakes line of sight i pull the control stick and flip over the top to land behind him.

‘You’re out Hangman, next time don’t leave your wingman.’ I see him hit the canopy before we all head back to base. I was the first to land, after i landed i popped the canopy and climb down the wing as i hit the ground I was wrapped in a tight pair of arms.

‘I missed you too Roo.’ He didn’t say anything just hugged me tighter.

‘I havent seen you in what a year and you dont even call to tell me your back.’ Before i can answer two more sets of arms wrap around me I look to see both Bob and Phoenix hugging me

‘Good to see you both as well.’ I reach up and ruffle bobs hair to which he groans through a wide smile.

‘Phe, we need lots of drinks tonight, on me.’ She nods

‘I missed you thena’

‘Me too Phe.’

I spot Jake over Phoenix’s head I smile before sprinting across the tarmac, Jake smiles even wider as I leap in his arms and wrap my legs around his waist.

‘Miss me did you Thena.’

‘You know I did, sorry I didn’t call, I didnt know I was coming back till I was practically on the plane.’

‘Daisy was upset you weren’t there this morning.’ He says placing me on the ground. I lower my head, suggesting ice cream and movies before we go to the Bar tonight.

‘I gotta go see Mav, but I will see you all in the classroom soon yeah.’ And i take off towards where Mav is standing with Cyclone.

Jakes POV

I watch as she takes off running toward Mav and Cyclone so lost in my own thoughts I didn’t hear Rooster come up behind me

‘That was odd.’ I turn to Rooster.

‘What are you on about man she just needed to talk to Mav.’ I replied though Rooster was right we hadn’t seen each other in months and she said two sentences to me. Rooster just shrugged and walked towards the classroom where everyone else was gathering. I walked it taking my seat next to Coyote normally Athena would sit on the other side but right now she was standing still fully kitted up next to Mav. Cyclone moves to the front of the room gaining everyone’s attention

‘Now the she has graced as with her appearance can I introduce your team leader and co-instructor for this mission, the only pilot on active duty to be an Ace by having five air-to-air kills, and the best pilot that Navy has had in decades Lieutenant Commander Y/N Benjamin, call sign Athena.’ I turn in shock to look at Phoenix and Rooster who are also looking with at the front in shock as she moves to the front, Coyote taps my shoulder whispering in my ear

‘She is an Ace and got a promotion and you didn’t tell me.’

‘I didn’t know.’ And i turn back to the front of the room my full attention on Athena.

‘Most of you I know and have flown with before for some it is the first time, the point of these next few weeks is to teach you all how to fly this mission and get you all home safely.’

I took note of the way she was phrasing the mission objectives and how she was always saying you and not us, I made a mental note to talk to her about it in private, we all knew this mission was dangerous but the way she is speaking is that someone is coming home and that someone is her.

‘Now next in the air going up against Maverick is Rooster, Phoenix and Bob.’ Rooster shoots a small glare at her and she shrugs slightly.

I saw Payback and Fanboy groan as the head towards Hondo, I glance to Jake who looks hurt that i had kept the promotion and the fact i was now an Ace a secret. As he stood up i yelled out to him to get his attention to stay back.

‘Ma’am is there something i can do for you.’ I could hear the sarcasm in his voice with hints of anger

‘Cut it out Hangman, I was going to tell you I just hadn’t got time to.’

‘How could you not get time is your phone broken or something.’

‘I got told i was being recalled then shoved on a plane before i finishing packing my bag, by the time i got home I just wanted to sleep.’

‘What happened on you last mission Athena?!’ I saw his face soften as i struggled to control my emotions a flash of sadness making its way across my face, before i could answer Cyclone called me to report to his office.

‘I want to tell you Jake, but I don’t know if i am ready, tonight can we go together to get daisy and then maybe grab some ice cream by the beach.’ He just nodded in response and i patted him on the arm before walking to cyclones office.

‘Sir,’

‘Athena, how was it being back in the air after everything today?’

‘Fine sir, no issues at all it felt like i never left.’

‘Losing a wingman is never easy Athena if you need to talk to someone whether its professionally or Iceman you need to talk about it.’

‘I know thank you sir, with regard Iceman is helping me as he knows the details of the mission.’

‘Very well and well done on the promotion, I am sure you are happy’

‘Yes Sir, thank you.’ As he dismissed me and i headed toward the locker room hoping Phoenix was still in the sky. As i picked up the pace tears threatening to spill i crashed into a hard chest looking up to see who it was i widen my eyes in surprise.

Matty bored in your hotel room, waiting for you to come out of the shower. He assumed it would be 15 minutes max, but you’re doing an EVERYTHING shower. He has been scrolling on tiktok for an hour and eventually he knocks on the bathroom door. He is perplexed when he sees you’re STILL in the shower, shaving your legs. He accepts defeat and sits in the bathroom, chatting to you as you complete your routine.

(VERY random idea but just feels cute and domestic).

you've got a night off between events but neither you or matty really fancy going out, so you decide that when he gets back from his interview/recording session/whatever he's doing that day you'll just order room service and have a movie night. and matty comes back in and he can hear water running and you singing along to rihanna and figures you're in the shower, so he just shouts to say that he's home and he's getting changed and you're like "ok i won't be long!". after he's put his sweatpants on, matty just sits on the bed, looking through the room service menu to see what he wants, then scrolls on social media for a while until he hears the music stop, figuring you'll be out in a minute. but the shower is still running and he can hear you humming along to yourself and he's like wtf, and then he hears a thud and you swearing and runs to knock the door and go into the bathroom, expecting to find you out the shower and wincing because you accidentally elbowed the sink or something. but no, you're just standing in the shower, foot halfway up the wall, shaving your legs like "hi babe!" and matty's like "baby, angel, love of my life... i've been out there for an HOUR how are you STILL showering????", and you just shrug and say "it's an Everything shower and i got distracted by my ANTI world tour performance". and matty facepalms but laughs and he's like "ok, fine, babe, but how long are you going to be?" and you're like "maybe another 10 mins plus skincare once i'm out" and he groans and you're like "but you could just sit in here and talk to me about your day while i'm finishing up :D" and he's like "yeah ok that sounds kinda nice". so matty plops himself onto the bathroom counter and talks about what he got up to and who he saw, and you're replying to him as you shave your other leg and rinse your hair and it's all cute. but matty being matty, he wolf-whistles when you bend over facing away from him as you wrap your hair in a towel and you glare at him like "this is meant to be a NICE evening" and he says "oh, believe me, it is ;)" and then giggles as he passes you your towel. and then you come over to the counter and give him a smooch before starting your skincare routine, which he intently watches and questions you about products and makes you put some of them on him too, before he scoops you up and carries you into the bedroom and kisses you slowly after popping you down onto the bed. and then matty's hands start rubbing at your waist over the towel and you're like "oh? ;)" and he's like "get your head out of the gutter i am trying to dry you off so we can order dinner faster, i am STARVING" and you laugh and get ready and the two of you just generally have a lovely chill night <3

over the hedge (2006) could very easily have been another middling 00's cg disaster w an all-star cast, forgettable and kinda phoned-in like open season or happily n'ever after (which came out the same year) but i think its actually a thoughtful adaptation w a lot of really good qualities. its about deprivation and want, found family and stepping on others to get ahead, and (sub)urbanization encroaching on nature, and it has an emotional core n im deadass !!

its based on a newspaper comic that centers on rj the raccoon and verne the box turtle, who live in the woods behind a ritzy suburb and menace n befriend its inhabitants. the comic is usu 4-5 panels per comic, and story arcs can stretch across multiple comics. there r a lot of characters that come and go, both human and animal, tho the core group usually stays at three characters-rj, verne, and someone else relevant to the current arc. so it couldve been questionable to extend that core group of characters from three to eleven (11!) in the movie, but i think it really works out. they position rj as the main character, and the other characters have an existing connection with verne, so act as an extension of him and his character arc. hammy is based on a character from the comics, but altered a bit, and stella, penny lou and the kids, and ozzie and heather are all original for the movie. and they all get equal time with rj, at no point in the movie do u forget about any of them-the exact opposite actually, we learn things abt them every time theyre on screen. its a really great use of screen time and dialogue.

and the character arcs! in the comics, verne is the more philosophical, searching one, and hes more often than not the loser at the end of things, often the butt of jokes, contrasting rj, who is more cynical, an indulgent slacker who only puts effort into slacking, often making the aforementioned jokes. they have a charming and humorous relationship, tho it is very much established. the movie however, reads as a sort of prequel to that relationship-rj and verne meet for the first time abt 15 mins in. it also makes some changes to their characters-verne is the cautious, tactless psuedo-patriarch of a cross-species family while rj is a lonely starving scavenger who has to scheme for the things he needs. the inciting incident, a broken vending machine convincing rj to steal food from a hibernating bear acquaintance of his, which is then all destroyed, leading to him making a deal with the bear to get it all back in just one week, could lead u to believe his motivation is greed-hes a little raccoon, and he didnt need to take all that food. but the rest of the movie reveals his motivation is longing, and loneliness.

the opening credits are layered over a sequence of rj scrounging in the garbage for something to eat. when he meets verne and his family of foragers, they r frightened by a new hedge in their forest, which surrounds a new 54-acre housing development, and wondering how theyre going to find enough food to hibernate the following year. rj sees this as an opportunity to trick them into helping him collect the food he needs for the bear from the suburb. their first disastrous encounter with a human initially throws a wrench in that, prompting rj to lie about losing his own family to gain sympathy and trust from them. but over time, he begins to actually care for them-he's shown playing video games with the baby porcupines, listening to music with heather, encouraging ozzie in his acting, even checking up on hammy when one of rj's plans gets him hurt; in their final heist, he changes the way everyone sees stella, showing her that she's more than just her smell. but the very real danger of being eaten by a bear remains rj's motivation until the final act, and we r shown up to that point that rj does not think he can get anything simply by asking.

which is a great contrast to verne, whose initial motivation is altruistic-he's worried abt the safety and survival of his family, whom he's responsible for. they already had barely enough to survive, and now almost the entire forest is gone around them. verne feels threatened by rj's charisma and seeming capability, and intimidated by the unknown world of the suburb, which turns into jealousy, as the rest of the family warms up to rj and his ideas and change. in an attempt to get things back to normal after a pest exterminator comes to their suburb, verne inadvertently destroys all the food his family had collected earlier in a sick montage, leading to an argument where verne says some insulting and hurtful things. sort of expelled from the family, feeling chastised, verne reflects on his feelings and behavior, and comes to rj to apologize. at the same time, rj is realizing that he's kinda fucked-he doesn't have the food he needs, and he's torn apart a family in the process. he's about to come clean and tell verne the truth, when, in a parallel of the beginning of the movie, he sees the opportunity to have everything he wants-the food and the family. so they put together one final plan, to get everything in one night, and it works, until it doesnt, and the truth comes out and rj abandons them, allowing verne and his family to be caged by the exterminator while he takes the food to give to vincent (the bear). but faced with the reality of that decision, watching the family he always wanted be carted away to be killed, rj changes his mind, taking the food from vincent's hands to go back and save his friends.

their reunion is intense and funny and immensely satisfying. you're glad rj made the right decision, that verne apologized and was forgiven, and the mad-dash escape from vincent and the exterminator culminates in an impossible plan that works out bc its an anthro kids movie, of course it would have a happy ending. after the antagonists r defeated, there's a scene where verne formally invites rj into their family, and tells him that if he'd been honest with them, told them he needed the food to pay back an angry bear, they would've helped him. bc that's what families do. and rj says "i've never had anything like that," correcting his lie from earlier. and the but ive always wanted it goes unsaid, bc he has it now, and he knows that.

YN: what can we do now??

Felix: well I have an idea. What do you think about making brownies??? Does it sound like a good idea?

YN: Ok but I think we'll burn the whole house down

We go into the kitchen and he takes out the ingredients

Felix: follow my guide and they will come out good

We start baking. If I think about it, I've never been so intimate with him. Usually there is also Hyunjin and we all stay together. But like this... it never happened. Gosh he's really handsome.

Felix: I know I'm beautiful but can you stop staring at me pls?

Omo he noticed. I am probably blushing like I never did...

Time skips- 15/20 mins later

Felix: ok they're ready now we have to put them in the oven. Open it pls

I do as he said then I set the timer and the temperature.

YN: what can we do now while we wait?

Felix: Uhm... do you want to watch a movie?

YN: Yh great idea

We go into the living room and turn on the television.

We start watching the movie. It's kind of boring but it is the only one on tv right now.

At first I didn't notice anything about how Felix was acting, then I realized he was scooting next to me more and more every minute.

YN: Lix do you need anything?

He starts blushing but he anyway speaks

Felix: Uhm... C-Can we Cuddle?

YN: huh?

This leaves me speechless

YN: O-Of course.. come here

He comes beside me and he's about to hug me but suddenly the timer rings

oh shoosh, why now? Well it seems like we are not supposed to have cuddles

The first drag queen show I ever saw in my life was in Russia. It was 2008. They hired a group of drag queens from Moscow and brought them to a local disco in some lost Ural city. It was an spectacular show and I only regret having a poor level of Russian because I missed many jokes. This does not mean that gay people were happily out in the open, but in 2009 there was a movie about drag queens in Moscow, so it was still better allowed to do these things.

That year, I also met a gay man in his 40s. He was friends with a group of 40-50 year-old swingers and one of them happened to be my student of French. This gay man was the most interesting one in this party and I always regretted not being able to get his contact details, we got along immediately.

4 years later, in that same city, a friend of mine who had a gay friend invited us all out to the gay bar. It was far from the city centre, in some building with no lights outside. Compared to the very decorated and aesthetic bars, cafes and discos I had been in Russia, this one felt temporary. It had almost no decoration and no light work. Chairs were swimming pool chairs. It was half empty, and amongst the small vibrant young community there, a couple of man and woman in their forties caught my eye. They were quiet, just having some drinks looking at the ambiance. They looked like neighbours who decided to take a drink before going home in the closest bar, and it happened to be this one, they probably had a shared story with the rest of the clientele.

That same year, I went to Kazan and people knew there was a gay bar near a very recognisable place in the city center. I could never find it on my own and I knew I could only enter with an invitation. I have visited friends in the area later on, in one of my last trips to Kazan, around 2017? I was surprised to see two young lesbians hugging and snuggling in a hipster bar of the city center. A Russian gay roommate I had in Madrid around that time, where I also shared a flat with a very out Spanish lesbian girl, took months to even mention he liked boys. In Madrid. He was surprised that men would just hold hands in the street with their boyfriends.

From what a friend of mine has shown me from music in her teenage years, there was some possible turning point in the early 2000s where some gay men and some lesbian women made music and were relatively out in the public eye. Outside of Russia, we know of T.a.t.u., but there were many others. Several of the men casually married to women around 2010 and said that they were only gay for marketing purposes, not really gay. I particularly think of Shura (after min 1:15).

I was in Russia for the elections in, I think it was 2012. There were demonstrations and the Dean of the university where I worked gathered many teachers and told us that we should forbid our students to go demonstrate (it took him a long while because he started of saying "we must look out for them, let them know it's dangerous and they could end up in prison" but professors wouldn't agree, students were old enough to make their own decisions).

Over the past ten-fifteen years, many things have been happening in Russia, little by little. I think the last drop has been the war. Up until that moment, it was tiny changes here and there, but the war has been a big distraction so no need to hide anything anymore.

I have interpreted for Russian asylum seekers who left the country because they oposed the war and didn't want to go to the front. They were in associations agains the war and so, they were deemed not only desertors but extremists.

This past year, every month we have received Russian asylum seekers who were gay and/or opposed to the war. Many are going to Kazakhstan, Turkey or any other countries where no visa is needed. Many need to go through Georgia to be able to open a bank account that they can use in Europe while not being tracked by Russia.

I worry about my friends too. A mother of three with a son who soon will be 18, of age to go to the army and probably not the means to stop it. I worry about the friends who don't know what it means that so many people are being labeled extremists, those who are doing things "right", but how right can you do them until they're not right anymore because they're single or divorced or childless or working or unemployed or too young or too old?

I may have noticed these changes more than my friends because I have not been living in Russia in the long term, I came back every couple of years and things were harder. Moscow looks like a modern city, every couple of years looks more and more like Europe. But some things were never open to begin with and the window where they could have changed was a very small one.

This answer is going to be a bit lengthy so I'm going to put it under the break. And I am planning on doing another post of fancasting like this one for the extended Batfam members so I might not address all your points here, but they will be coming very soon! 😘

First of all, I am a big fan of both Bale and Pattinson's portrayals. I have a hard time picking a favorite because their approaches to the character are so different and yet both valid. I am VERY interested to see what they do with Battinson moving forward since this first movie is still early in his time wearing the cowl where he is still figuring out what Batman should be. And I would LOVE to see him get a Robin in the sequel (preferably sticking with Dick like the canon) but we shall see!

I'm not sure if you've seen The Boys, but Jensen's portrayal of Soldier Boy is all the proof to me that he could nail portraying Batman. And his range in Supernatural (from being a gruff and heartless hunter one minute to breaking down in a softer, protective emotional side the next) solidifies for me that he could switch between Batman to Batdad when needed. And he's charming as hell so Bruce wouldn't be a problem 😂

I'll have my new fancast of Alfred on my next post, but from previous ones, Michael Caine is always my Alfred. I think Andy Serkis is a great version of Alfred for Battinson and is what that Bruce needs (and his performance is great as always) and I enjoyed Sean Pertwee in Gotham (once again, a great interpretation for what *that* Bruce needed). However, Michael Caine was my first live-action Alfred and he was SO PERFECT, I don't think he will ever be topped as my favorite.

To be fair, I think Brenton Thwaites had the look for Dick and I think he could have been a good choice if the show was different, but for me, I can't get over how much Titans tone and interpretation of the characters/stories rubbed me the wrong way. None of the characters felt accurate to me based on their comic counterparts and the studio just tried to be too edgy and dark. The perfect example is the "Fuck Batman" moment. It was all over the trailers and just seemed like something they wanted to push to be like "this ain't your parent's Robin" but they pushed things so far it didn't even feel grounded in the characters I love. (don't even get me started on the Red Hood plot line).

I have seen the Nightwing youtube series and they do a really good job with it! My hope for this new direction of the DC movies and the fact The Brave and the Bold will focus on Bruce and Damian's relationship is that it means they'll include Nightwing and maybe mention Tim now working with the Titans (you don't want to include too many characters in the first movie which is the problem a lot of superhero movies have made lately). And I also want a mention of Jason but not have him returned as Red Hood yet which would be its own movie later.

Speaking of Jason.... While Dick is my first Robin and will always have a very special place in my heart because of that, Jason is my favorite. I just love how complex and rich his character development and story is. I also find casting him really difficult because of that. However, I do think Tanner Buchanan has a good potential. I've seen him in a few smaller roles, but I know he is a main character in Cobra Kai so he does have experience with fighting he could bring to the role (I haven't seen the show but I did watch clips on youtube). And as you pointed out, those green eyes are a big plus!

I think Curran Walters does a good job in Titans for what the show wants of him, but once again, it's just not my Jason and I rage quit season 3 😂 (though I watched clips of key Red Hood moments from later in the season)

Tim is always the hardest member of the main Batfam for me to write or cast just because he is the one I have the least knowledge or experience with outside of fanfics. However, I still really like him as a character and think he has a lot of potential in a movie or show. And I haven't seen Locke and Key (though it is on my list because I LOVE Aaron Ashmore)

I am excited with the prospect of having Bruce and Damian together in The Brave and the Bold, but I am also very nervous about how they will characterize them. All the Batman projects since Batman Begins have skewed very dark and I don't think that works well if you bring in the whole Batfam (if they just want to add Dick with Battinson, I think that could work but not expanding it to the whole gang). But James Gunn's comments about making the new Superman movie more about kindness feels like it will be a brighter, lighter version (more like the Christopher Reeve movies than the Henry Cavill ones) which I feel is more accurate to most comics, so I am cautiously optimistic for the Batfam in these movies. However, the canon and fanon versions of the Batfam don't always match (neither does the canon version between comic writers), but I am still hopeful for the more loving version we want, and is portrayed fairly well in the DC Animated movies.

As for Duke, Cass, Steph, and Barbara, I'm going to include them in my next post so you will have to wait a little to get my thoughts on them as well as a few others😉

Though because you brought up ages I will mention that all of my castings are based on if I were making a movie or show today. There are a lot of different people I would have loved to have in these roles in the past that are unfortunately just too old at this point.

And just another shout-out to Wayne Family Adventures because it is everything I ever wanted from a Batfam comic/story!!! Plus, the art is so perfect! Yes, the comic is a lot of fan service, but it is really funny while also being deep and emotional at times. It never loses the heart of the characters and you can tell there is so much love in the project and for these characters. If we could get a show or even a web series of this version of the Batfam, it would be a dream come true!

It was barely 3 pm when you arrived at the dorm parking lot. Hanging out with Heeseung was the easiest thing in the universe. You have been best friends for so long, so of course, it was. Game nights and sleepovers were a weekly thing during high school, which you think you both hadn’t grown out of since you still have them but not so frequently due to University schedules and priorities. You can’t tell the exact moment when you developed a feeling for Heeseung because, for you, there wasn’t an exact moment. Loving Heeseung was an evolving feeling, co-existing within your growth and codependency with each other throughout your life. As many of your classmates have said, you two were inseparable, soulmates even.

You think you’ve been excellent at keeping your feelings at bay, separating your platonic and not-so-platonic feelings. You made sure you were going to be the friend Heeseung needed when he needed a friend to understand him, so it made sense why it was exactly 15 min since you had arrived and you were still in your car. You are about to cross the separation and tell Heeseung your feelings. You were nervous, breathing in through your nose and out your mouth to calm your racing heart only makes it worse because reality was setting in. Deep down, you know it was incredibly risky, but still, the voices of your friends echo in your head.

Finally finding the courage (and because it was starting to get a little boring inside the car). You make your way to the dorm. True to the boy’s words, it was just the two of you at the dorm as Heeseung opens the door, letting you into the familiar living room, not after a tight but comfortable hug of course. Heeseung goes back, sprawled across the sofa, flickering through Netflix programmes, mumbling about the shows available as you occupy the space next to him.

The whole hour was spent with Heeseung complaining about his Music module class and laughing about the cliche of the ongoing movie. But you can’t focus on anything but the doubt in your head, too busy in your head that you miss the numerous times Heeseung looks at you, worried at your quietness

“what’s up?” Heeseung rolls over to your sighed, sighing when you jolt at his movement.

“The ceiling” you faked a laugh, which came more awkward than intended

“Not up there you fool” Heeseung frown in endearment “In your head”

You stay silent for a second and Heeseung seems to notice the hesitation. You feel his hand entangle with yours, giving it a comforting squeeze. “I know it’s always hard for you to talk about your feelings, but hey, we have something special right? You can talk to me.”

“Hee… I have something to tell you.”You say with an awkward smile, attempting to gently pull back your now clammy hand from Heeseung’s hold.”Please promise you’ll listen until I’m done talking?”

“Hey of course I’ll listen. I promise” he doesn’t let you free your hand from his own, holding on to it again and giving it another comforting squeeze. You see a smile graces his lips and you return it with a crooked smile before you let your attention fall onto the forgotten Netflix series playing. “Go for it”

Taking in a deep breath, you close your eyes, head still directed away from Heeseung. “I’m in love with you,” you pause, breathing in before continuing

“I think I have been for a long time now and-” sighing softly to yourself, you slowly let your eyes open to look at Heeseung, ignoring the hammering feeling in your chest. “I’m so scared that it’ll ruin our friendship and I’m still terrified but I just had to let you know before I regret not telling you”

It felt relieving to finally voice your feelings, even if you wanted to run out of the door but it doesn’t stop your heart from thumping loudly in your ear. You don’t let yourself fall into the false sense of security, even if your close friends think and tell you Heeseung feels almost the same way.

“I’m sorry if this ruins our friendship, but I just- I think-“

“Y/n”

“Sorry I- sorry you can talk” you look up, rambling immediately stops seeing Heeseung look back at you.

“Y/n, you’re my best friend and” you feel all choked up all of a sudden. Of course, it had to be the cliche line of letting your best friend down. “I’m sorry.” He mumbles so softly

Your eyes are starting to burn as you get up to your feet, “that’s all I’ll ever be?” You whisper, calming the pain in your chest as Heeseung stays silent

“Y/n wait, listen to me” He sighed, his hand reaching to grab you by the wrist. “please understand this is all new to me! You can’t expect me to have the answer immediately”

“This is new to me too!” Wrenching your wrist from his hold, you make your way towards the door. “But at least I know my feelings for you.”

“Then I think it’s best to step back with this friendship-“

“Are you serious Heeseung? Just because I confessed, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to still be friends?”

“When feelings get involved it’s harder for friendship to be honest and make it fair for everyone. I don’t want to confuse you y/n”

“It’s a little late for that” so you walk out

You only stop walking when you’re out of the dorm building. Your stomp halts, face scowled like you were trying to hold onto some sort of anger at Heeseung. But the more you thought of it, the more you realised the embarrassment settling in. No, you weren’t angry. You were embarrassed. You had mistaken your best friend’s affection for something that was never that deep. God, you were so stupid.

You were stupid and now without your best friend.

You groan and make yourself keep walking, but that doesn’t stop the sudden pang of sadness hitting and suddenly, you feel tears brimming in your eyes. You and Heeseung have fought before but it never escalated to Heeseung stopping your friendship. You must’ve been too much.

You don’t realize that your feet had carried you all the way to the parking lot, until-

“Y/n? Y/N are you crying?” Renjun’s soft voice grabbed you back to earth. You don’t know what it was about seeing his face at that moment but all your walls came tumbling down. “Hey, it’s okay. Let’s get you to your car first”

Only when you’re sat in the passenger seat of your car with Renjun in front of your door,

you realize your situation. Your shoulders are shaking and you feel the wetness still dripping on your cheeks. You hear your breath coming out in sniffles and small hiccups escaping your mouth. It probably looks like the strangest scene for Renjun, maybe some sort of Kdrama scene he’d only seen in dramas. You, sitting in your car seat unmoving, looking at him as you crumble in sadness. And him looking back at you worried, not really sure how to deal with you.

“Do you want me to call Heeseung?” Renjun kneels in front of you, meeting your eye level. You shake your head immediately and that’s all it took for Renjun to get an idea of the situation. “I’ll drive you home-“

“I’ll drive myself-“

“No Y/N, I’d rather drive you than have you drive back with tears. I want to get you home safely”
