With all the little easter-eggs and nods we get in films now.
I really would like to see some more real meta , absurd but entirely relatable stuff find it's way back in to films like that scene in Over The Hedge where the porcupine kid accidently butt-presses the flicker and the TV switches on.
The dreaded and most feared thing to ever grace the screen appears.....
then the adrenaline kicks in .... stress levels spike....and the race is on to prevent the sound system from destroying your ear drums and possibly the house.
But suddenly you can't function and you somehow lost the tv remote.

Works That Mention Birds Being Dinosaurs Where You Wouldn’t Expect It to Come Up
Feel free to reblog with any examples that you know of!
Note that my own selection follows these two requirements:
The work must explicitly use the wording that “birds are dinosaurs” (or an approximate equivalent), not only that “birds are descended from dinosaurs” or similar.
The work is not primarily intended to teach or reference topics in the natural sciences. xkcd and Dinosaur Train are great, but they don’t qualify under this requirement. (More general educational works that don’t specialize in science might count, however.)
Anansi Boys (2005) by Neil Gaiman:
“Birds,” Spider said, “are the last of the dinosaurs. Tiny velociraptors with wings. Devouring defenseless wiggly things and, and nuts, and fish, and, and other birds. They get the early worms. And have you ever watched a chicken eat? They may look innocent, but birds are, well, they’re vicious.”
The Order of the Stick, “Bird Brained” (2011):
Sesame Street, “When Dinosaurs Walked Sesame Street” (2016):
Doraemon, “雪と恐竜” (2017):
(I haven’t found English subtitles for this episode, so you’ll have to take my word for it.)

In light of the new Puss in Boots movie I've got a new hot take:
Dreamworks movies give off LGBTQ+ vibes for one of two reasons
The story focuses on the rejection of societal norms and finding you're own family/self.
The main character is a disaster bisexual
Movies that fall into these categories are:
Kung fu panda, Over the Hedge, and Monsters vs Aliens etc.
2.Puss in boots, Hiccup(Httyd) and Megamind etc
However some do both, and I feel like the best example of this is without a doubt Shrek.

what is it about Over the Hedge that makes it such a strange movie? its the art style, its the Ben Folds soundtrack, its the plot that toes the line between social satire and animal shenanigans, theres just some great underlying something that makes it such a bizarrely adult movie and i cant put my finger on it
