soap who runs a podcast wherein he’ll explain and discuss complex science processes in a way that doesn’t make learners feel dumb or left out, but also is engaging for more advanced and knowledgeable listeners who are familiar with concepts.
he’ll often have guests, usually fellow science people who maybe have more expertise than him on certain topics, but sometimes he’ll just bring in others to have a better perspective on questions and details someone less science-y might want to know.
one day, a guest has to pull out last minute, so soap asks his boyfriend ghost if he’d like to try out an episode—if he doesn’t like it, soap can just re-record and post something else no problem. but ghost agrees—by osmosis of just being around soap for so long he’s pretty knowledgeable in the realm of science himself, and, really, it’d be a wasted opportunity to hear his boyfriend rant about something he loves for an hour.
everything goes well—episode goes up, and… people are already demanding ghost to return. his deep, rough voice combined with being relatively evenly matched with soap in terms of that day’s concept made for a great listen—though, perhaps the fact that they have great chemistry as a cause of their relationship also plays a part in the episode’s positive reception.
so ghost becomes a semi-regular. he’d hate to impede on soap’s thing entirely, but he doesn’t mind returning every once in a while whenever soap plans on talking about something ghost is familiar enough with. there just seems to be an extra ounce of passion from soap whenever it’s ghost as a guest, though no one’s aware it’s because they’re dating.

Daily Check-in: April 4, 2024 🎀
What a good day! I swear I hadn't had a day so good in so long, but this day was absolutely amazing!
🩷 What I Accomplished Today:
reviewed chapters 8 and 9 of Spanish on Busuu
Studied my Spanish flashcards 1x all the way through
listened to three podcast episodes in spanish
read a chapter of Deep Work, the last chapter of Atomic Habits, and a section from 101 Essays to Change The Way You Think
discovered and listened to "A Better You" podcast by Fernanada Raamirez
Went to my make up chemistry lab
took a make up psyc quiz
met with my psych doctor
had a therapy session
had a meeting with the director of the Dietetic program for my university
filled out an application to become an SI instructor (just not to turn it in to the head SI guy now)
Caught up on my chemistry notes
opened a savings account for my university
searched for nearby places to rent/live (I'm moving out soon, sometime this year)
🩷 What Went Good Today:
Got encouraged to add a 2nd major in Finance
Created a list/schedule of classes for next semester that I'm really excited about
learned about other on-campus job opportunities in case SI doesn't work out
felt confident about my psyc quiz after I took it
the director of the Dietetic program was the absolute sweetest and most helpful, and I am so glad I met with her because she answered all of my questions and gave me some great encouragement
finished my chem lab very quickly
didn't need extra money to open a savings account so a savings account got opened
🩷 What Could Have Gone Better:
I felt like I bugged my dad a lot, but I was just so excited to tell him how good everything was going
Need to re evaluate how much I can realistically save per paycheck at the moment for my housing situation AND the college savings account
got a bit emotional with my boyfriend over some past stuff
did not eat the best or the healthiest
psych doc ordered an EKG because she is concerned that I may have an arrhythmia (had an EKG done in the past for the same reason, but was told it was because of my exercise habits at the time ~4 years ago) and having an arrhythmia will limit the mental health medication I am able to take
Overall, not a bad day whatsoever! I was in a really good mood all day because of how awesome everything was and I'm super grateful that I was able to have such a good day!
til next time lovelies 🩷

Fictional podcast recs
One of my friends got into audio drama and I just sent them a whole list of recommendations to go through, I thought someone who follows these tags might also appreciate it and perhaps have some more to throw in. I resisted the urge to throw in the little blurb about audio dramas as a weird little medium and their tropes that I wrote up. It was something to the effect of nodding at how the medium has rapidly been improving since Welcome to Nightvale started, also how a lot of the tropes that tie the medium together are products of the indie podcast scene being accessible and primarily based in audio. Also at how well horror works in the format. Those paragraphs went unsaved but writing first about the medium in general helped me to reflect on a lot of the things that make audiodramas appealing or repulsive to me for discussing each show in brief beyond just explaining what they're about.
All recommendations are tagged for the tldr.
Fiction podcast recommendations in no particular order:
The Magnus Archives
Horror
The biggest criticism I ever had of this podcast’s voice acting from episode 1 turned out to be a relevant plot point. This thing is probably the best of the best, but I would never recommend it to someone unfamiliar with podcasts because the listener only notices a plot hook somewhere between episodes 20-40 and that’s daunting in the face of a 200 episode show. Getting sucked in rewards you with 200 episodes of thoughtful content and a great explanation for most of the weird things this show chooses to incorporate.
Old Gods of Appalachia
Horror
Fantastic production quality on this ongoing show. Many seasons with interconnected lore and a hell of a narrator. It’s not my personal favorite but it’s quite excellent.
Red Valley
Found footage mystery
One of the newer shows I’ve gotten into, Red Valley is well-crafted. It becomes compelling very quickly with a rapid pace that slows down to land in a neat spot for a while so you can savor the cool parts. The production quality is excellent and the two main voice actors have excellent chemistry. The third and final season is currently being produced.
The Silt Verses
Horror
Often compared to American Gods, this newer podcast made by an experienced team is doing a lot of creative and fresh things at once. The magnificently fucked up religious system of The Silt Verses is both a neat plot vehicle and cleanly works as a criticism of late stage capitalism, where many podcasts like to jab at capitalism this one is much more pointed in its commentary. Episodes are long and very well produced. All the credits in the third season have been mostly diegetic and add flavor to the world.
Archive 81
Found footage horror
Slow to start but by season 2 the production quality and plot are among the best in the game. Unfortunately, on an extended hiatus.
Ars Paradoxica
Science fiction, historical
Very well produced considering its age, this is a highly regarded show among people who follow the medium. Excellent time travel mechanics here. The plot drags a bit by the end because time travel stories must violently contort themselves into a conclusion, but the first season or two are fantastic and it’s always nice to have an ending instead of interminable hiatus.
Caravan
Gay demons n stuff
Showed up, did magic and gay shit, disappeared and went on hiatus probably with some kinda unsatisfying cliffhanger seeing as I don’t remember the plot. Could I recommend it in good faith? Not until they at least cough up season 2. I don’t remember it being bad and that alone is notable for the medium.
Mabel
Gothic horror
This is the deepest cut on the list except for maybe Caravan. Lesbians pine at each other for increasingly complicated reasons, eventually devolving into them doing datura and then spewing cryptic poetry together for the rest of their days. The production quality is fair. The slow windup and creepy house are American-gothic af. This show has had a few hiatuses, but each time it comes back significantly more intriguing.
Welcome to Nightvale
Goofy spooky news broadcast
Old and iconic, not very consistent. Sometimes explores emotional, tense, spooky, or funny scenes well, but the show is really focused on being local news for an ooky spooky desert town because Cecil is damn good at his job. Don’t come here looking for plot, it’s a fun vibe and I don’t know that anybody’s ripped it off and notably improved on this classic. Above average production quality for its time which improved through the years.
Alice isn’t Dead
USA road trip, horror
Made by at least one of the Nightvale writers, totally different show with a lesbian trucker making wry observations of some magnificently twisted shit seen around the United States. The producers know how to run a show, so the production is pretty good.
Tanis
Found footage horror
Tanis is not good. However, it was the first fiction podcast to make me ask “Is this real?” and hesitantly believe it for a frankly embarrassing number of episodes. The stories in the first season were interesting and the lore is just some big-tent conspiracy style of cramming a bunch of fun Wikipedia research into what turns out to be an increasingly nonsensical plot. Every season after the second, I return to hate-listen and am gaslit into thinking the show might low-key rock a few episodes before the finale, which is routinely frustrating and makes sure to throw out any good plot points Terry Miles comes up with. The acting is routinely terrible, and the frame narrative allows lazy and frequent retcons, ruining what I think is a good premise. Also it’s incomplete.
The Black Tapes
Horror
Terry Miles started this show before Tanis began releasing about 5 months later. I think of it as one of his earlier works because it behaves like Tanis with an added layer of cringe from a time waster of an awkward romance(?) between the two main characters. I couldn’t finish this show. You won’t see this recommended as often as it used to be online because there’s many better shows now, but this used to be a big deal. There’s a bunch of memes making fun of the annoying cadence of the characters’ speech and iconic sponsorship reads in both this and Tanis. If you’re interested in some cringe atop your creepypasta podcast, the two are interchangeable.
Rabbits
ARG investigation
Not as horror focused as Terry Miles’ other shows, the cringe is dialed down and the show is better for it. Tanis and The Black Tapes are more well known, I think the only reason more people don’t think about this one is because the first two don’t inspire trust in the production or narrative quality of this show, but I remember it being fine for a season. I have not gone back to catch up now that more is out.
Malevolent
Horror
Inspired by The King in Yellow, one man performs two voices and verbally abuses himself with aplomb. Having a blind main character with an extra voice in his head is a frame story I haven’t heard yet (unless it came up in the magnus archives and I don’t remember), the concept works out great for the frame of a podcast to deploy the environmental imagery that foley cannot communicate. It also prevents the podcast trope of lengthy exposition about visual surroundings from sounding awkward or potentially impacting someone’s character development to show setting.
Wolf 359
Comedy, science fiction
A crew of whacky characters is stuck in deep space, hanging out and researching a star. Since that’s not actually very interesting they crack jokes and fuck around for a slow burn until interesting stuff happens. Good but not great, this one is long and satisfying and a bit less heavy than all the horror this medium often focuses on. Decent production quality.
The White Vault
Found footage horror
I lost patience with this podcast even though the overarching story seemed very cool – it progresses very slowly yet appears to grow bigger and more confusing instead of deigning to answer basic questions for a frustratingly long drag through the first four seasons. I worry that this frustration may be the point and the Patreon gated stories are the drivers for this tendency towards the confusing patchwork of ideas this show communicates. The production quality is good though.
The Left Right Game
Found footage horror
Genuinely great reddit creepypasta got turned into an overproduced podcast – I say “over” in comparison to the voice acting quality because it’s kind of impossible to sell some of the lines, which makes sense considering the source. Brief, complete, punchy, interesting, and just a little odd to hear such a clean production but a creepypasta this fun deserves the effort.
Wooden Overcoats
Comedy
Surprisingly good production quality for its age, and also a refresher from the usual tropes of the medium. Just a chill sitcom about a funeral parlor in a small town. I haven’t finished this 4 season show yet but its good.
The Black List Table Reads
Movie script readings
Some movie scripts just short of making the cut to be turned into a full Hollywood production were well liked enough by a group of film nerds that sat down to act them out as a podcast. Half of the episodes are interviews with screenwriters, and the other half see a script read all the way through by actors. They’re all rejected for different reasons so there’s a pretty broad spread of genres. My favorites were Blood From a Stone and Balls Out.

Aren't you tired of forced romances with no chemistry that only take away from the actually interesting plot? Don't you just want media where romance isn't portrayed as being superior and more important than (queer)platonic relationships?
Well, my exhausted aro ass is too, so here are a few tricks and wisdoms I've gathered over my years of being a-spec (which is all of them) on how to avoid romance (in media) in a very allonormative society 💚🤍🩶🖤
(this is a rec list btw. no I am not shitting on the shows that I tagged, quite the opposite)
1. Middle Grade
I get if you aren't really into that, because it is kind of annoying to be pointed to literal children's literature when all you want is a story that isn't constantly being interrupted by describing the main guy's heated eyes for the twentieth time.
However.
It is true that in middle grade, friendship is always more important than romance. Because, let's face it. Making two eleven year old characters kiss is kinda weird. So even if there is a romance, it isn't very prominent and treated more like friendship and/or a puppy crush. Plus some stories get surprisingly dark?!?!
Examples
- Howl's Moving Castle (Diana Wynne Jones), technically a romance in the end, but mostly focused on found family, shenanigans, and finding your own value
- House of Many Ways (DWJ). Yes, again. I really like her books okay? They always have something so fantastical and whimsical about them. This is my other favorite book by her and it has literally no romance at all. Plus a hmc cameo that is so fun !!
- Coraline (Neil Gaiman). Maybe this is cheating because I never actually read it. However. a) the movie traumatized me. b) Wybie was added to the movie, he doesn't exist in the book, so if "power of friendship" isn't your thing this will be great. Probably vibes over plot.
Flyte (Angie Sage). Technically this is the second book, but I never read the first one and still understood everything. Once again, no romance at all. A fun read, which can get surprisingly dark at times.
2. Short Story Collections
Once again, I get it if it isn't your thing. Short stories are - as the name reveals - short. Which means: no worldbuilding, very limited narrator, open ending, no time to really get attached to characters, etc.
But.
The cool thing about collections, is that they always have a certain theme. And as long as the theme is not romance, romance will not be the focus. Even if there is a romantic relationship, it will be used to explore this theme since there simply isn't time for anything else.
Examples:
Life Ceremony (Sayaka Murata) This is the book that actually made me figure out: hey! I do actually like short stories !! The main theme is basically about being different and it plays a lot with body horror and the perception of your own body in contrast with how society sees it. There is even a story about two women who platonically live together and raised multiple children!
Canterbury Classics: Classic Tales of Horror (introduction by Ernest Hilbert). As the name suggests, this is a collection of horror short stories, featuring well-known authors such as Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe or Charlotte Perkins Gilman. As these are classic old tales, the language is a bit complicated at times and you can read them for free on Gutenberg. However, the book is very very pretty and the introduction is very interesting (Origins of the genre, specific tropes and monsters, etc.)
3. Podcasts
PODCASTS!!! If you follow me, you are probably already aware of those. However, in case you don't, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of Audiodramas.
The cool thing about Podcasts is that pretty much anyone can do it. All you need is an idea, a mic, a lot of motivation, and you're pretty much set to go. No producers or publishers you need to get approval from. So it is only natural that this medium is filled to the brim with queer creators. Basically every character is somewhat queer. It's awesome.
Examples:
- The Silt Verses. I adore TSV. I listened to the first season like, four times. (the second one is good too but OH MY GOD THE FIRST ONE). And one of the main characters is canonically and explicitly aro!! Sister Carpenter, I love you with my whole being. And the great thing is, it is very clear that the writers love her, too!! There is a lot (like a LOT) of body horror so it isn't for everybody. But if you think you can handle it I really recommend it. (Plus, not any romance plotlines at all !!)
- Wolf 359. This is one of the older ones and it is really good. It's a bunch of restless and very unwell people stuck in a spaceship under the unforgiving rule of capitalism. However bad you imagine it, I can assure you it is worse. But the really cool thing is that there literally isn't any romance at all. Like, there are great m/f friendships but they never even hint towards a romance. Some people are so unused to that that they literally ship the main dude with the fucking robot AI. (don't worry, not an actual romance plot).
- Girl in space. I am sure you will be absolutely shook to know that this one also takes place in space. It is about a girl. In space. Shocking, I know. Except that she has been on her own for well over a year when suddenly a fleet of strange ships arrive and kidnap her. There is also a very asshole-y robot. And questions about what makes us human. And found family!! And a goat. And cheese. Just go listen to it okay. This is also one of the shortest ones of the list, so maybe a good start.
- Malevolent. I have to confess that I personally am not a huge fan of this one? Like the premise is really cool - a detective who wakes up blind and with a demon in his head who can see through the detectives eyes. What the fuck?, you may ask yourself. So does Arthur Lester. Mysteries and other dimensions and a whole lot of pain ensues. Harlan is undeniably an awesome VA and a great writer, but his stories just seem a bit too repetitive to me? Nonetheless I know of lots of people who enjoy it a lot. Trying to define the relationship between Arthur and John (his demon) is perhaps the biggest mystery of them all. (Jk. there are multiple murders and stuff. they've really got other priorities)
- Middle:Below. This is another short one and probably the least famous of this list? It's about this funky lil dude with a ghost roommate and a cat who can talk (.....or can it?). There is a m/f friendship but it never turns into a romance (wow it is possible!!). They all go on adventures on the dimension between life and death. Despite the description, this is literally just a comedy. A bit spooky at best. Reminds me a bit of scarier kids cartoons like gravity falls.
4. "Gay" movies/series in countries with homophobic censorship
Now you may think, "hey that seems like a bit of an asshole move!". And you would be 100% correct in thinking that.
However.
It does also mean that the main relationship of the story can never be explicitly romantic. They can allude to it, they can try to show it. But they can never confirm. So it is very easy to interpret them as having a QPR. (because tbh I don't think I've ever seen one on television.)
Examples:
The Untamed. Look. I am aware that the first episode is so fucking atrocious, all right? And no, the CGI does in fact never get better. And sometimes the translated subtitles are a bit awkward. But I swear that it is so good. Trust me on this one, okay? Just make it through the first ep. It's a wild ride. Lan Zhan I love you. (However the book it is based on (written by a woman) depicts them being in an explicitly romantic relationship, with lots of very inaccurate and badly researched smut, so the fandom pretty much sees them as exclusively romantic.)
- Word of Honor. Very much in the same vein as The Untamed. Except that the first episode is less horrible. And the one dude has a very fruity fan. And they also raise a kid together. And the costumes of the villains are really fun!! I actually never finished this one tbh. I know that the book it is based on has one very extremely terrible ableist plot point, but I don't know if that made it into the show since I never got that far
The Devil Judge. The last two were fantasy, this one is a dystopia. Very tense and interesting. There is a romantic subplot (typical childhood friend vs bad boy love triangle), but he rejects the childhood friend and they can't exactly show him and the "bad boy" (who is actually a judge. and also kinda his sugar daddy) as explicitly romantic for the reason above. They also live in the same house and cook together and take care of a child together. Can totally recommend.
Assassination Classroom. A bunch of students have to kill their teacher who is an alien. that's literally the plot. I cried so hard at the finale. Nagisa and Karma have MASSIVE vibes and you can't convince me otherwise. (There is a romantic subplot that does end in a kiss, but they agree to continue as friends since those were..... extenuating circumstances. The dude very clearly is not into her). Nagisa also very aro-spec coded imo.
5. "Straightbaiting" Anime
Sometimes Anime does this thing (which I personally find very hilarious) where a boy and a girl will have no other romantic involvements or love interests while growing closer and closer, but never get together. A bit like reverse queerbaiting.
Examples:
- Fairy Tail. The ultimate power is friendship anime. That is all you need to know. (I should also perhaps warn you that the end of the last arc (and the sequel series, but we don't talk about that) are huge letdowns. Like the buildup? So good. But....welp. If that doesn't bother you too much and the idea to have a group of people be the main character instead of one person only, this may be the series for you. Just do yourself a favor and skip all the filler arcs
Soul Eater. I really love the vibes of this one. Once again, most of the fandom likes depicting them as explicitly romantic, but they never canonically are. It also reminds me a bit of creepy children cartoons. It is also where the superior fictional school exists, Devon. Frankenstein teaches there (the dude, not the monster). People transform into badass weapons. Nobody can convince me that Make Albarn is not a trans woman. However the ending deviates a bit from the manga, and I personally think the anime one is a bit worse
Noragami. This one will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the first anime I really watched. This one also has people who transform into weapons, but the vibes are very different. It goes a bit more into Japanese folklore in case that interests you.
Bonus: Canonically Aro/Heavily Aro-Coded Characters
They were not anywhere above because the stories they are in didn't really fit any of the categories. But they exist!
Wolf (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts). I adore Wolf. There is also barely any romance. Like, it will seem like it at first, but don't worry, it's only straightbaiting. There is a romance subplot but it's very brief and very much in the background. Overall very good aro show 👍
Isaac (Heartstopper) Very queer show, very high likelihood that you already know of it. The series per se is very romance focused, but as far as I've heard the a-spec rep in S2 is really good
Georgia (Loveless). Actually never read it. But, well. Title pretty self-explanatory dare I say. By the same author as Heartstopper (Alice Oseman)
Chance/Chris and Shadow/Ryan (woe.begone) Are explicitly in a QPR together !! they are also probably the healthiest couple in the podcast lol
Henry Clerval (Frankenstein). Henry is the "a couple of besties!!" to Victor's "we look like a couple <3"
Barbie (Barbie 2023) If you've seen it you know what I mean.
Jo Marsh (Little Women). I never read the book, but Jo in the 2019 movie??? very sus.
I would also recommend checking out Japanese books! I personally think they are much better at writing romance than the western people lol. It's more about knowing each other and sharing your views of the world, thus changing each other and leaving a mark forever, even if the relationship ends. (studio ghibli romance vibes). My favorite Japanese book doesn't have an English translation :(
aber an alle Deutsch-Sprecher*innen: Die Katzen von Shinjuku (Durian Sukegawa) -> og title: Shinjuku no Neko
Can't think of anything else right now, but please leave some of your own recommendations! Hope this helps ^^

I listened to Danai's interview on the Hollywood reporter podcast where she talked about how her and Andy would rehearse every chance they got for episode 4, including their weekends off on zoom when she'd go back to Brooklyn and he'd stay in New Jersey. If Sunday is truly the end for Rick and Michonne's story then I'm gonna need them to work in something else together. Because their dedication to their characters and the fans to work even on their days off is the kind of actors I want to watch on screen. And the episode showed just how much that dedication paid off. I cant believe the last episode is almost here 😔
perfectly said! I haven't listened to that interview so I wasnt aware that they did all of that. thank you so much for sharing!
I agree, we're so lucky to have people so dedicated and talented and intelligent telling this story because the result has been incredible. I honestly think it would kind of be a shame if they didn't work together again, even if just from a producing and/or writing standpoint, because they clearly not only have onscreen chemistry but creative chemistry as well. they seem to collaborate well and have great instincts, especially danai! if they do work together again, whatever it is they choose to do, they can preemptively take my money because I really think they create magic together.
I'm both sad and relieved that the last episode is almost here. of course I'll miss them but I'm also so happy they seem to be getting a good send-off and are (potentially) free from twd because honestly idk if I can handle this kind of stress again lol I just want them to be happy and safe forever, and as long as they give me that, these handful of episodes are a gift. couldn't ask for more.

I have so much work to do but I also feel like I’m losing my mind a little so have a mini In Defense of PerthChimon (the people hating on them almost certainly won’t see this or care, but writing is how I cope with my frustration, SO):
This feels so incredibly obvious but clearly it needs to be stated — there are a lot of people who find them very charming. If you think they are “disgusting” or “unappealing” that is a personal perspective. It is not fact.
If you think PC are secretly uncomfortable with each other, I invite you to watch some of their interviews and other behind the scenes moments, because they are pretty clearly not.
If you claim to like one or the other but advocate they should be separated, both have repeatedly said they would only do BL with each other and that they want to work together for a very long time. Just one interview below.
This is similar to a few bullets above, but subtly different — if you think they have “no chemistry” based solely on kissing, you are ignoring several other markers of physical and emotional chemistry, such as eye contact, hands (which they are exceptional at), general rapport, and more. They’ve also repeated said that feeding off each other while acting helps them elevate the really intense scenes they have. There’s also a really phenomenal post I will link to if I can find about how well they physically act together — timing things like throws and fights together.
But regardless, to those who say the kissing is “bad” — again, I personally don’t see it, but enough people are apparently zooming in on the screen and staring closely looking to find issue that it should be addressed. I have two very contradictory points but I am going to make them anyway: (1) they are playing two high schoolers, who are both coded as being each other’s first partners, who are meant to be shy and uncertain and learning together. Like after all the discourse in the locker room, I believe they are exceptional enough actors to be playing their scenes that way. (2) Why does it matter if they are kissing closed mouth? Is a BL only good now if there is really ‘sexy’, open-mouthed kissing? This is placing a very strange priority on a very tiny part of the acting process.
So all this said, pairs aren’t going to be for everyone, but it’s really rude to tag the actors in hate about their performance. It’s also just very frustrating to see pure hate in tags that are meant for sharing fandom joy — sorry but it just makes you look like you are looking for likes/attention. It’s a great way to get blocked by a whole lot of people instead of the reblogs you might want.
And it’s really not in good faith to ask two actors for an interview and then badmouth them shortly after. So I have deleted my previous recommendation to watch the recent PerthChimon interview on an English language BL podcast and encourage people who are fans of PC not to give likes/views to that outlet moving forward (happy to share more information via DM but not willing to further grow their name).

SO @maverickcalf UNEARTHED THIS PODCAST/INTERVIEW WITH BILL HADER FROM 12 YEARS AGO AND HE ACTUALLY TALKS ABOUT TROPIC THUNDER AND TOM IN A MORE DETAILED MANNER I'M VIBRATING THIS IS ALL I EVER WANTED!!!!!
JESSE THORN: What was it like to actually interact with him professionally; especially when he’s doing something as ridiculous as his character Les Grossman in that movie?
BILL HADER: He was great. He was really collaborative and was like, oh, do you want to come in on this, or maybe you say this and I say that.
I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED IF THEY EVER TALKED ABOUT IT!!! like the energy and chemistry they had between them, whatever little screen time they shared, always spoke to me like it's an interaction that was discussed about. you wouldn't get that kind of thing if it was just Tom doing his thing and Bill doing his best to keep up. they talked about it!! Tom asked for Bill's input!!!! I WAS RIGHT
He’s a very committed guy. He works incredibly hard, especially at those dances that he would do, and he would have these long monologues in the movie, mostly directed towards Matthew McConaughey’s character that were really funny and hard to get through, but he was so focused on making it a character; like a person. He looked so crazy in it, but making Les Grossman a real force.
YES god I'm so glad Bill talks about it here. like whenever people bring up Les to Tom they only ever ask about the dancing, but never about the CHARACTER WORK. that's what I love about Les honestly. that he so easily could've been a one note character played for laughs. but you can TELL that Tom put thought into his character and motivations, keeping Les grounded and more human. I love it so much.
He played it very real, like when he would get really angry he would actually be angry. He was really committed to it. But working with him and hanging with him in between scenes and stuff he was the nicest guy on earth. It helped that he was in that makeup, because for me after a while you forgot, oh, that’s Tom Cruise, and then at the end of the day you’d be walking to the van or your car, and he’d be like, “Hey Bill, great job today!” — Oh my god, that’s Tom Cruise!
more points for Tom being really nice 🥺🥺🥺 and him complimenting Bill oueghdgdhh I'M NORMAL ABOUT THIS
JESSE THORN: Bill, you’re a married man with a child; I am too. I would be worried if I ever met Tom Cruise that I would accidentally kiss him or something.
BILL HADER: When he’s dressed like Les Grossman, you don’t.
this part made me laugh honestly dhkfhdj DON'T LIE TO ME BILL
(thank you for playing Rob like he wants Les to rail him anyway)
That is an interesting thing. That’s the kind of guy who will sit there and talk – – like, between doing the movie and doing the MTV Movie Awards thing, like, I had a kid and stuff like that, and he definitely was like, “How’s that going?” Very legitimately interested in what was going on in your life and just very cool. Telling me stories about making The Outsiders, he’ll sit and tell you stuff and it was really cool.
we've all heard about how people talk about when Tom talks to you he always gives you 100% of his attention and is very genuine so this isn't a surprise but it's just so good to see Bill confirming that yet again 🥺
but also ohhh my god Tom telling Bill about making The Outsiders. just telling him stories about movies he's made!!! BILL DID YOU EVER TELL HIM YOU LOVE FILM THE WAY HE DOES!!! DID HE KNOW ABOUT YOUR DREAM TO BE A DIRECTOR!!!!!
I'm so happy this interview exists. and I'm so happy to have confirmation on things I've wondered about for years (did they ever discuss their characters while filming the movie, did Tom and Bill ever talk about films, etc). I can't believe this information was out there for over a decade and I only just learned about it!! thank you Blu so much for sharing this 🥹🥹🥹

zyxx fans if youre starved for silly scifi content might i suggest the podcast Live and Let Fly; my listening experience is like being able to breathe air again after zyxx ended.
what it is: an actual play Starfinder podcast with an emphasis on roleplaying and character interaction, primarily a comedy interspersed with compelling drama. the cast is playing the Fly Free or Die adventure path from Paizo, following a crew of working class characters as they run errands for a corporate shipping company.
why zyxx fans would like it:
1. it’s good improv. theres a lot of yes-anding in this group. they feed off of each other’s energy extremely well with a good balance of silly and serious scenes. i laugh out loud frequently while listening to this series.
2. the cast has great chemistry. adam, zac, john, emily, josh, and heath have been close friends for a very long time and its very clear they’re having a good time together when they play. its really fun to listen to their dynamic as collaborative storytellers because they know how push each others buttons while respecting each others boundaries. the communication between all the players is a big factor in why the show has such a strong, solid narrative element. really talented group of comedians and storytellers.
3. the characters are varied and interesting. its a space drama, so you run into a lot of fun alien characters in this world, plus the crew itself is full of weirdos. the captain is an autistic space wolf. the mechanic is a sweet yet murderous bug lady. the pilot is a three foot tall rat guy with a gun. the list goes on. racial/gender/class differences aside, everyone is insane in a unique and opposing way, so character interactions are always fun.
4. heavy societal satire. the crew works for a faceless heartless corporate entity. no matter what they do they cant seem to catch a break. its a lot of similar tongue in cheek humor to what the crew of the bargarean jade goes through.
theres lots of other reasons why this show is good but i dont want to make this post ten miles long. give it a listen if it sounds up your alley. im a huge fan and its filling the scifi improv void in my heart ❤️

yes on the 28th!! i'm excited because ALISON HAMMOND!!! every day i'm like whyyy do we not have her on more panel shows she is everything!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
victoria spoke about it on her episode of taskmaster the podcast :)
Tumblr media
all i know is she's been looking fly as ever — like always! but if she's changing things up a lil then good for her 😌
Tumblr media
i would like to anon but they didn't rly have that many moments together on the show, like of substance that make a good gifset 😩 i did do these two! do you have another moment in mind?
Tumblr media
omg YES LMAO
richard is so hilariously subtly shady, i love when someone makes the most wrong guess ever (usually during tablet games like the rich list and i'm terrible at dating) and richard does a very obvious scoff-chuckle and goes "yeah? [raises eyebrows knowingly] well [stifled laughter] you never know! let's see if that's right [stifled laughter]" like it just cracks me up — because somehow he's not smug at all despite being mr big brains and someone who teases others a lot
one thing i love about hog is how much richard loves hog — like, that's his baby, he loves doing that show, and he is so obviously having the most fun every single week, which makes it even more fun for us imo!
Tumblr media
wow great question!
i have a lot of nostalgic love for comedy world cup — i love david tennant, he's so affable and very funny and a lovely host, and i think that format had legs even if it didn't make it in the end. also from around that time i remember liking mad mad world on itv, which was suddenly cancelled mid run? with paddy mcguinness, rhys darby, rufus hound... —
sorry to digress for a second but remember on some recent podcast ep when sam campbell was like "what's rufus hound up to" and i think it was ed gamble who laughed his ass off lmaooo i feel like there's rufus hound tea out there but idk what it is. anyways
— ...i would love to check it out again but i can't find it! i'll work on that 🤔 then, of course, you have been watching hosted by charlie brooker. it would not have been as strong a format if it wasn't for charlie writing the show and clearly having many topics & rants he wanted to go in for, but i loved that series and saw quite a few comedians/personalities, including vcm, josie long, holly walsh, and peter serafinowicz, there for the first time :')
looks like i had a lil trip down memory lane!
Tumblr media
i think it's great! i'm not crazy about dylan llewellyn — i am not super into derry girls, and i felt, at times, his acting was lesser than the others' in a distracting way? is that just me? — but it hardly ruined the show or anything. the cast has GREAT chemistry and jon pointing is a standout (though he doesn't pass for his 20s at all lmao), and i love seeing izuka hoyle who i loved in boiling point and is so(!) gorgeous. tv comedy lives and dies on its editing, and big boys really understands its structure and its beats. i'd also say it strikes a rare balance in its absurdity and its sincerity, which is some of my favourite ever kind of film & tv. god, i just love sad boi comedy. or sad anything. i'm a "let's watch this and cry🤩" kind of person no matter my mood LOL
btw did you see victoria coren mitchell also loved big boys?
Tumblr media
sure anon i put it on google drive here :)
Tumblr media
i'm not going to host this one but you can request it here and someone will definitely have it to share with you asap! sorry for the inconvenience but lmk if you have any questions :)

Sigh. I accidentally posted my half-finished answer to a really kind ask and then in a panic deleted all of it.
So! Rewriting it all. (Hope you'll see this, anon <3) I unfortunately don't have a copy of the ask, but what anon basically asked for were my reasons why I stopped listening to dndads.
There are a couple, mostly boiling down to that I felt increasingly frustrated with Anthony and the waste of potential in season 2. I'll elaborate on this - really happy someone asked me about this actually, I've been looking for an excuse to write out my thoughts on the matter.
Dndads negativity under the cut (aka hater hours)
First of all prefacing this with saying that the most important factor was probably my personal mental health. But we're not here to talk about that, we're here to rant!! So, here is my little wordspew which I've been wanting to write for literal months:
Rejecting the Storytelling Medium You Use and Ignoring the Consequences
Let's start on a positive note; I love the comedy of this show and the cast's chemistry. Every time I listened to an episode, I laughed so hard my jaw hurt. They are incredibly funny people.
However, every time as the credits rolled after "On My Way," a sense of nervous disappointment lingered. The problem sat in season 2's story. Every episode is funny, but the narrative steps that were taken were just frustrating, going in a direction that lead either to meaningless conflict or another fetch quest with minimal results.
Dungeons and Daddies should not be a Dungeons and Dragons podcast.
People struggling with the rules and deciding to do their own thing with it can have its charm - it never annoyed me in the first season of the Adventure Zone. But with dndads it actively hinders the show and the storytelling.
It's just... Anthony isn't that good of a DM.
He knows the rules of d&d 5e. He just doesn't want to use them. He gets frustrated when his players take creative actions that undermine the story he planned out. An example is the confrontation between the teens and Willy. Lots of really creative actions and high-level spells were used, but Anthony consistently shut those down and in the end it all went according to how he wanted it to go.
They frequently rerecord scenes when they feel it didn't work out. That's not exactly letting the dice decide, which is what the whole genre is based on!
My sister and I used to speculate on where the story could go, and we often jokes 'this is good stuff, Anthony Buch take notes', and those jokes turned from (affectionate) to (derogatory) once it became clear to us that the direction Anthony was taking really didn't sit right with us.
Season 2 truly had so much potential. We have a set of really interesting PCs who have a strong relationship with a set of equally (if not more) interesting NPCs. The setup of the Doodler as a bbeg was great - and so was the reveal of the Doodler's true feelings.
But the story dragged out, didn't grow, the jokes detracted and distracted from the narrative, emotional beats were unearned, etc. I was bored with the characterization of the kiddads and their actions. The return of the og dads was messy and took away from the story. The three month time skips during a period in which there were supposed to be stakes made me want to rip my hair out.
There's a whole other essay I can make about how d&dads undermines it own stakes, but this is already getting too long so that's for another time.
Also, and I'm so sorry to use Anthony as a punching bag this much, but the man verbally undermines himself so much. He constantly says he doesn't like the second season, negatively compares both PCs and storybeats with the first season, and disses his own capabilities. I understand anxiety well, believe me I do, but continuously saying that you don't think this thing you've created is any good to your fans on your own podcast gets frustrating. This seems to me something you share your personal circle or your therapist, not to your thousands of fans who probably listen to the podcast because it brings them joy!
I have so much more to say, talking about this truly sparks joy in me. But all that matters I suppose is that I've happily divorced. Sadly writing about Lark Oak genuinely helps me cope with all the stuff that's going on, so I'll be tied to this podcast for a while longer.

Hi! Your top 5 best and top 5 worst endings of anything that you liked? Could be TV shows, books, movies, podcasts. Thanks!
hi!! thank you for the ask <3
i generally prefer tragic or bittersweet endings over unambiguously happy ones; this will be long; spoilers ahead (obviously)
best endings
hannibal
the wrath of the lamb fucking rearranged my brain chemistry. how do i explain to people that one of the most romantic things i’ve ever seen was a murder-suicide?
technically hannibal was canceled and not ended but in absence of a season 4, i will consider twotl the ending. i don’t even want a season 4 because i can’t imagine any better ending than the one we’ve got. yes, season 3b was a rushed mess of hannibal, will, and dolarhyde playing fuck marry kill with each other, but they stuck the landing so well, and it’s this perfect tragic mix of “this could’ve all been avoided” and “there’s no other way this could’ve ended”.
and yeah the ending is ambiguous and it’s implied they lived but my favorite interpretation is that they died in each other’s arms.
black sails
wars have been fought over the interpretation of this ending. i personally think john silver is lying but whatever your take, jack’s “a story is true, a story is untrue” speech is brilliant and it’s a perfect ending to a great show
fleabag
“i love you” “it’ll pass” I AM NORMAL.
i love you, female characters written by women. i love you, comedy that turns into tragedy halfway through. i love you, clever use of narrative devices.
this show is damn near perfect, and even though the first thing i did after finishing fleabag was go on ao3 in search of thousands of words of fix-it fic, i wouldn’t change a thing about the ending.
white fang
i wouldn’t say i have a favorite book, but if i had to answer that question it would either be the iliad or white fang. this is the book that got me into reading.
this book caught me at exactly the right time in my life. i was obsessed with wolves as a kid; i was 11 or so, and my grandma handed me this beautifully illustrated book that had the most amazing old book smell (because it’s been in a wooden attic up until then).
it’s about the life of a wolfdog (more wolf than dog) that was born in the wild but gets tamed/adopted into a dog pack that hates him because they can smell he’s not really a dog and hooo boy does something is wrong with you and others can tell that you’re not like them hit when you’re a lonely child.
anywayyyyyy it ends with white fang, having been adopted by a kind man, lying in the sun, still a little confused/out of his element but content. the ending is bittersweet and thematically fitting and he’s a good dog and deserves it.
the mechanisms
the mechanisms are a band of immortal space pirates telling stories of their adventures. their last album is titled death to the mechanisms and in the eponymous song , they realize they’re not quite as immortal as they thought they were. it’s sad, it’s funny, it’s beautiful, it’s poetic, and it’s a worthy send-off.
if you’ve got six and a half minutes, it’s worth a listen (even without context), if only for gems like “witnesses will say that they have never before seen someone so viciously excited to die” or “his body will float there forever, far beyond the warmth of stars” or “pointless, ignoble deaths the lot of them. but who that lived can really boast otherwise?” (this band is so quotable it's insane)
onto the hating!
worst endings
dexter
what the absolute FUCK was that. i adore this show but the ending sucks so much it feels almost malicious
supernatural
i’m not sure i can answer “do you like supernatural?” without a lawyer present. i was obsessed with supernatural as a teenager, then i stopped watching around season 10 or 11. i decided to rewatch the entire thing after november 5th.
supernatural would be so good if it was good. i’m a “supernatural should’ve ended after season 5” truther but i admit that some of the later seasons do have their moments.
not the ending though. the ending is so completely beyond parody i don’t even know what to say. castiel is in superhell for gay angels. dean gets nailed by vampire clowns. when i first saw the aged-up version of sam i literally burst out laughing. at least the wincesties got a forehead touch out of it i guess???? i am so glad that i’ve built up enough emotional distance to laugh instead of rage about this because i know my teenage self would’ve had a conniption.
goethe’s faust and euripides’ orestes
they’ve got nothing to do with each other but i have the exact same beef with both of them so i’m just gonna throw them together.
faust ending: faust loses his wager with mephisto and should’ve by all rights gone to hell but god says ????? (don’t even ask i’m not sure i could explain whatever twisted logic is going on there. something about faust using his devil-bestowed powers for good) and faust goes to heaven anyway.
goethe, my guy, you named the thing faust. eine tragödie. where’s the tragedy i was promised? false advertising. fuck you.
orestes ending: standoff between menelaus and orestes; orestes is holding a knife to hermione’s (menelaus’ and helen’s daughter) throat; this will not end well. or so you thought! at the last possible second, apollo swoops down and fixes everything, tells orestes to marry hermione and ???
nothing is satisfyingly resolved but hey, at least no one’s dead. except iphigenia, and agamemnon, and clytemnestra. this fucking family…
this is what the ancients called deus ex machina and what i call an ass pull.
i just think if you’ve constructed an entire narrative that follows a very clear, specific direction, you shouldn’t then swerve to the left. SEEMS LOGICAL TO ME
and it’s not just philistine bitching on my part btw. there’s actual academic debate about what the hell these authors were thinking. that being said, i’m a hater because i’m a lover, and i wouldn’t be so mad if i didn’t love both these plays
game of thrones
i am sure everyone has heard about how much the ending fucking sucks. from building up the night king to be a badass villain only to kill him in the ass-pulliest way imaginable in one (1) night, to walking back all the character development the characters went through to jon’s heritage being meaningless to having a thus far sympathetic dany snap and burn a city down over literally nothing to jaime and cersei being killed by falling rocks to brandon fucking stark, a character so uninteresting the show forgot about him for a whole season, sitting on the iron throne.
also, euron greyjoy is my favorite character in the books and i’ll never forgive the show for butchering him (i don’t know who the fuck that guy on the screen is, it sure ain’t euron).
one thing that i find fascinating is that it’s literally just the writing that sucks. the costumes are beautiful, the soundtrack is better than the show deserves (thank you ramin djawadi ilu mwah <3), the dragons look great, the actors are doing the best they can. highest production value piece of garbage ever made.
the magnus archives
(little warning bc i’m really mad about this so vitriol ahead. also, i have not listened to the magnus protocol and i’m not sure i ever will)
i yelled about this a lot and i’m ready to yell about this some more!! THIS IS A SEASON 5 HATE BLOG. i’m so serious it’s literally a better podcast if you ignore season 5 and act like MAG 160 is the ending.  jonathan ‘the archivist’ sims should’ve had a corruption arc and i will die on this hill, everything E V E R Y T H I N G pointed towards jon becoming a monster and enjoying it. it could’ve been so good!!! instead we got some formulaic bullshit, the concept of (and i cannot stress this enough) parallel universes introduced like three episodes before the ending, and the single shittiest romance i have ever been subjected to. the way martin treats jon is sooo fucking vile and yet the podcast is constantly like aren’t they so cute :) isn’t this soo romantic :) NO IT FUCKING ISN’T. he’s dating his shitty coworker who he doesn’t even like that much why exactly am i supposed to be rooting for this relationship jesus fuck i feel like i’m being gaslit. i don’t just have a notp i genuinely feel like jonmartin ruined the entire thing.
s5 also completely ignored jonah magnus who, apart from being one of the most interesting characters, is THE GUY THE PODCAST WAS NAMED AFTER. but yeah, sure, who cares about him? let's have five more episodes of jon and martin being fundamentally incompatible.
and then there’s the ending where jon is the only one who stands up for what’s right. the podcast tries to act like keeping the fears in their world or releasing the fears are two equally bad choices but the latter is so clearly worse. so clearly the wrong choice to make. AND THEN THEY MAKE THAT TERRIBLE CHOICE FUCK THIS SO MUCH
tma season 5 is one of those cases where you can so clearly see the potential of something that could’ve been so great and they just threw that away AND FOR WHAT
(ok i’m done yelling about this now. just kidding i’ll never be done)

I also think this change of pace will be very very good for them, going 0 to a 100 has the potential of burning things to the ground quickly. It seems to me that Travis is a guy who enjoys the first moments chemistry but it’s more focused on forming a long lasting bond and that takes time and effort. That’s what he said on KCs podcast and one of the reasons why I first thought he would be great for Taylor, he even said he thinks the psychical part of things can grow and doesn’t necessarily have to be instantaneous, that’s when I knew he was a different type of guy because most men want that first spark asap and don’t worry about anything else

Hi!! :D
Please tell us everything that we need to know about Joe and Troy. ☺️
I know absolutely nothing about them but am SO WILLING to sit here and listen to true stories about them!!!
my time HAS COME >:)
when i started watching the nfl seriously a couple years ago i jokingly was like, lol there's something going on between joe buck and troy aikman. and i quickly then realized, wayament.. there totally actually is.
Tumblr media
joe buck is an american football commentator for the nfl (previously he also did baseball but just does football now). he's the son of a legendary sports broadcaster (nepo baby!!) and is kind of polarizing i guess bc he's a bit goofy and some people don't like how he commentates. i first got exposed to him for baseball when i got into baseball in 2016 and i happen to like his voice and how he carries himself. i like silly bitches idk. he's been doing nfl broadcasts since 1994.. he was employed by fox for his whole career until moving to espn in 2022. also he's addicted to hair plugs and has a podcast called "daddy issues" ...make of that what you will.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
troy aikman is a former nfl quarterback for the cowboys who does color commentary on nfl broadcasts, also for over 20 years now. he and joe have been partners in the broadcast game for 22 years. i think everyone likes troy. he can also be goofy but in a way that's less annoying than joe to ppl? idk but he's a great football mind. and an all-american hottie, i mean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bro looks the exact same lmaooo anyway
troy joined fox in 2001 and started working with joe in 02. at first the booth also included cris collinsworth, but eventually cris left, probably because he was sick of being a third wheel.
Tumblr media
so over the years joe and troy became a formidable broadcast pairing but also became...CLOSE FRIENDS! how did they become close friends and develop chemistry you ask...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
uh ok. ok aight
also they bonded bc they're only 2 years apart in age, were married at similar times andd having children at the same time and then uh *checks notes* Divorce, uh they bonded over divorcing their wives at the same time.
Tumblr media
heaps of praise, they r always praising each other alright....
Tumblr media
so years go by, they call super bowls together, they have these lil flirty moments in front of america on the lord's day ffs, they get caught criticizing the military propaganda complex when they thought their mics were off (kings!), they become the subject of endless memes, & general mischief -- the stuff that really bonds men together, you know.
a break for pics thru the years
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, we come to the end of the 2021 season.
troy's contract was up. joe still had a year on his fox contract and was by all accounts going to stay. he appeared on a podcast and heaped praise on troy and also didn't like thinking about him potentially not being his broadcast partner. :(
Tumblr media
"he knows how i feel. i don't want him going anywhere." plssss
but troy decided not to renew with fox and to go to espn's monday night football. the sense i get is fox not really being willing to pay what he was worth at that point lol. and he basically just chose to put it out there into the world, "hey joe, follow me"
Tumblr media
and very quickly after that (like i think days or weeks it truly wasnt long) ......fox decided to let joe out of his contract😭
Tumblr media
so really it was never a question whether or not they'd go together i guess. and that quote is cute to me idk. see what i mean joe is a lil goofy but i like that.
so, for the 2022 nfl season joe and troy settled into their new home on espn. same as it ever was. <3
Tumblr media
Awww.
and uh, that's it! that's where we are now! they're happy and in luv!
we shall end with some tweets...

hello! long-time lurker here. feeling very brave right now and very much felt encouraged by @callivich, so here i go.
Name: jade
Age: 20 sumn
What made you fall in love with Gallavich? aside from the fact that their love story probably covers every possible trope ever and noel and cam truly lived and breathed these characters into life, as a closeted kid who had once ‘loved’ and was extremely afraid to be found, i also deeply related to their initial struggles with the hiding and the pushing away. but the way ian and mickey made it ! and got married ! and things are generally looking up ! it’s such a joy to witness and fills me with great hope.
How long have you been a fan? a year and three months! i know, i know... i’m a baby. but there is nothing very baby about how this show and ship changed my brain chemistry because i have never devoted this much on anything until... well.
Favourite Gallavich moment/scene? oh man it’s like picking a favorite child... can i say everything? no? okay i would say s3e3, when they were running away from the cops after mickey headbutted n*d on the street. it’s so carefree, they were just two boys laughing and running without a hint of what’s to come and now i’m crying!
Favourite Shameless character apart from Ian and Mickey? fiona. is that a red flag? idk but i’ll defend her and let her knock me out actually.
Do you write or draw or make edits? i create when i feel too much or when an idea is ping ponging around my head and demands to be known by the world or when something i want to consume has not existed yet. so i have a very sporadic relationship with making stuff (also because college sucks). i (sort of) write and make video edits or memes.
Favourite type of Gallavich fics? i love AUs. god i LOVE aus. i prefer multi-chaps, but i also adore extremely witty one shots with good dialogue or banter. nothing in particular. just put those boys in situations and i will eat it up.
Favourite Gallavich quote? SO many great ones. my first one would always be the classic “what you and i have makes me free”, but aside from that there’s also “we got nothing to be ashamed of” “what fucking world do you live in?” because holy shit.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself? head empty no thoughts. just want to say, every one on here is so fucking talented and welcoming. the words, the art, the fics, the gifs, the manips, the hilarious text posts, the metas, the podcasts, etc. i see you. you keep this community alive and it’s the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen. and i’m so, so grateful. i internally squeal every time someone makes something because wow i get these treasures for free. all for the love of some silly lil boys. wonderful, wonderful gift. i am a chronic introvert folks and is a very awkward human and sometimes i still feel shy but really, all i want to do is scream at you for how great you all are.

'With two major projects spearheading in early 2024, many people might be wondering if Andrew Scott has a partner. The Fleabag actor recently opened up about why he kept his life away from the limelight and why people in the industry tried to keep his sexuality private.
Scott grew up in Dublin, Ireland, and talked to GQ about how his upbringing affected how he expressed himself. “There was so much of me that was quite fearful, actually, and ignoring that side of me,” he says. “What’s difficult sometimes for gay people is that you don’t get to experience this sort of adolescence where you go, ‘Oh, my God, I like that person, do they like me back?’”
When the actor starred in All of Us Strangers, he revisited and reflected on those feelings. “I think that’s maybe why this feels so gratifying and cathartic,” he says. “Because I did have to bring so much of my own pain into it.”
The Ripley actor also revealed that industry people told him to not talk about his sexuality. “I was encouraged, by people in the industry who I really admired and who had my best interests at heart, to keep that [to myself],” he says. “I understand why they gave that advice, but I’m also glad that I eventually ignored it.”
Scott came out in an interview with The Independent when he starred in BBC’s Sherlock but had some lingering thoughts about it. “Sometimes I find the prurient nature of the way we talk about it a little bit exhausting,” he says. “It’s both very important to talk about and sometimes I feel like I wish we didn’t [end] up talking about it.”
So does Andrew Scott have a partner? Read more to find out.
Who is Andrew Scott's partner?
As of April 4, 2024, Andrew Scott has not revealed the status of his relationship. He tends to keep his personal life private, and it’s not known if he’s dating anyone or has a partner.
Stephen Beresford (2001 - 2019)
Andrew Scott was in an eighteen-year-long relationship with actor-turned-writer Stephen Beresford. It’s not known why the two broke up, but they have been spotted together on a vacation years after their breakup in 2022.
At the time of their breakup, Scott talked about relationship dynamics on the How To Fail podcast. “Sometimes having casual sex with people is what you need to do. It’s really important… You learn from people. It’s not about the length of time you spend with somebody.”
He continued, “My life is different now. I feel like my attitude towards relationships and my attitude towards myself and sexuality and all that stuff has changed, and that came about from having the courage to be on my own for a bit, quite a scary thing to do.”
Did Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal date?
No, Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal did not date. Despite their great chemistry together, the “Internet’s Boyfriends” who starred in All Of Us Strangers are very close friends.
“Our job as actors is to build, to service this extraordinary, amazing relationship that Andrew [Haigh] created, and it was really, really easy for us to do that,” Scott told Out about his chemistry with Mescal. “I think both of us are really interested in playing romantic love. I think it’s something that we both really take pleasure in acting, so it was very, very, very easy for both of us.”'
