Short Translation from Twisted Wonderland the second novel: Grim's Realization (pt1/2)

"‘Magic that can control other people's movements? Man, if I had a unique magic as convenient as that, I'd be controlling the teachers to make every day a self-study day.’

‘Would there even be a point to that?’ Yuuya laughs. ‘Wouldn't it be better to just cancel school altogether?’

‘Nice, that sounds good, too. We could just goof off every day.’

Sensing someone’s eyes upon them, Yuuya and Ace glance over to Riddle. Unlike moments before, his brow is now deeply furrowed. It would seem the serious Riddle does not approve of such remarks.

‘If it were me, homework would…’ Noticing Riddle's stern expression a bit late, Deuce quickly gives a wave of his hand. 

‘No, nevermind! Nothing an honor-student would say—forget I said anything.’

‘First-years are just so fresh and adorable. Don't you agree, Riddle-kun?’

‘Not in the least. I'd much prefer it if they were more polished, and took their studies more seriously.’

Cater laughs aloud while Grim, grinning at his side, lets his imagination run wild.

‘If it were me, I'd be makin’ everybody in the school give me food, every day.’

‘Haha, that's so you, Gri-chan.’

‘Yeah. Then the lunches, snacks from the store and breads would be all for me! I’d eat as many of those rare, deluxe menchi-katsu sandwiches…as I…wanted..."

Grim tilts his head.

’…Ah!’

Grim suddenly lets out a yell that echoes throughout the cafeteria, and those around the group all turn to look at him. Quickly covering Grim’s mouth Yuuya bows his head, apologizing, and the other students return to their conversations.

‘What are you yelling about?’

‘I know who it is! The guy who’s got that unique magic!’ 

Grim pulls away from Yuuya with a serious look.

‘It's Ruggie! That obnoxious thief is our guy!’

‘Wha—Ruggie-senpai?’

‘That's right,’ Grim gives a vigorous nod of his head. ‘He's the one who made me trade my deluxe menchi-katsu sandwich for some tiny an-bread the other day! I didn’t even wanna trade ‘im, my body just moved on its own like I got taken over. It’s gotta be him.’

It’s true that Grim had been acting strangely. Ace and Deuce look just as surprised as Yuuya.

’So wait, you really weren’t moving on your own?’

‘But I was right there next to Grim, and I didn’t notice anything.’

‘Riddle-senpai, Cater-senpai—what do you think?’ Yuuya asks, looking to his two upperclassmen."

On the topic of characters with memory problems and Parabola, I wanted to talk a bit about how that works with Harper as both a system with memory loss and a Silverer.

One thing a lot of people know about Harper is that they're incredibly go-with-the-flow. They're known as Insouciant for a reason, after all. But not a lot of people realize just how deeply that's ingrained in them, or the fact it's its own coping mechanism. See something that doesn't make sense? They proceed as if it does, and don't think too deeply on it. Met the person whose body they've been living in for a few years now in the Waswood? They'll politely inquire as to how she's been and then allow themself to forget once she's moved on. Can't trust their own senses? They make no attempt to, then, simply put one foot in front of the other until they can see a way out. They accept the uncertainty, because to challenge it at the wrong moment would destroy them. Better to bend and recover later than break entirely.

That's also why they're so good in Parabola. Science and dreaming don't have to be diametrically opposed concepts, despite what Gebrandt seems to believe. They carry their own knowledge, but don't allow that knowledge to snare them. (Hence why they're able to pull all sorts of tricks behind the mirror, because they can use theories and facts as a springboard to then catapult themself full speed into the dream logic side of things.)

It all comes back to the idea that they already can't fully trust their own memory. Conversations happen with friends that they have no recollection of. Classes are taught, and they can only hope they happened as planned. Pens go missing and days are lost and sometimes they wake up on the rooftops of Spite with blood under their nails and no recollection of how they got there. They manage, because they must, because what's the alternative? It's easy for them nowadays to simply take it in stride and try to put the pieces together after the fact. And that in turn makes it very easy for them to accept the strange and the nonsensical as normal when they do their work as a Silverer.

So if someone else with memory problems needs help with Parabola, Harper would be very willing and able to provide guidance. They'd be happy to help work through things, if it's asked of them, but even moreso just… to help to distract. Easier to ignore the things that are best left forgotten if they're too busy talking about Parabolan botany, or showing off interesting shortcuts between areas, or what have you. But if something did slip through, be it unwanted memory or impossible-to-reconcile fact, there isn't a fiercer or more protective Silverer out there to have by their side. Because that's the thing: they understand firsthand what it's like. They have years of practice. And they will never, ever pass judgement on a desire to not face these things.

Okay so I just watched a video about the extinction from some guy’s Entities series and. Thoughts:

I feel like a lot of people forget that the Entities are not completely separate things. We have the colours analogy and the Giant Creature with multiple limbs too big to see that it’s all one thing. So, as much as it’s useful to understand stuff, Smirke’s 14 is canonically a very flawed explanation of something very difficult to comprehend. 

Especially with the revelation that the rituals will never work by themselves and that the entities need to all come into being at once, it’s clear that they are more connected than they are independent. 

The video was talking about the statements that are contested in terms of whether they are Extinction or whatever else. First, they can be both. Second, the point of the extinction’s Emergence isn’t so much Totally New Never Before Seen Fear but Fear Becoming More Widespread So We Should Distinguish Itself From Others. Fear of drastic change, the end of life as we know it, etc, existed before the Extinction was thought up, and will exist even though the Extinction never technically Emerged. Dekker says it is branching off from the End, but I think that’s still too rigid. 

In mag200 when we get the origin story of the fears, it starts as “Once, there was fear”. It’s one thing that starts to specialise as life gets more intelligent and learns the things to be scared of. Then, “The thing that was fear felt itself began to tear, to crack and fracture along a thousand unseen fault lines”. So, we do have confirmation that it isn’t just One Thing. But they started as one, which begs the question, where do we draw the lines between Fears?

I think a lot of us have the idea of Which Entities Are Which based on their motifs, which I think holds back our understanding. The Web is one that particularly gets me. As an Entity, it’s about control and manipulation, but a lot of the time it’s boiled down to Fear of Spiders. Spiders symbolise control because of their webs, the idea of being trapped, knowing your fate but unable to escape it. That’s the essence of the Web. Falling into a spider nest and getting them all over your face? Horrifying, but not the right psychological aspects. I’d say it’s more Corruption, feeding more on the fear of disgusting things. I think puppets would be an interesting motif for The Web, but puppets are like dolls which are basically monopolised by the Stranger. Now I’m starting to rant. In general, I believe we could have a lot more interesting interpretations of the Entities if we thought of them more as the psychological fear they represent rather than their common motifs. For example, I really like what they did with the Buried also representing debt rather than simply Dirt. 

On the fandom wiki (I know it sucks. If there’s a better alternative lemme know), a lot of the s5 domains are described as serving multiple fears, which makes sense since they cater so closely to the specific fears of the people in them, which aren’t necessarily a single Fear. Then, of course, we have Protocol. I’ve seen a few posts echoing the same point of We Don’t Need to Rethink the Fears to Make Protocol Make Sense, We Just Need to Stop Defining Everything So Rigidly. I hope Protocol continues to Get Weird with it so we’re forced to think about the Fears from a different perspective than Archives. It’s healthy. It’s enrichment. 

In conclusion, the Fears aren’t so separate, Smirke’s 14 has never been real, the Extinction isn’t a world-breaking anomaly, and motifs don’t necessarily define what Powers are actually at play.

Hi! I just read through your post defending Logan (I reblogged it with a kinda-long addition haha) and I just wanted to say thank you for putting that out there. I hadn't done all the research or known any of the specifics, I just knew about his insane ability and potential. I love that you said you'd defend him with your life, because I feel the exact same way. I feel like there's so much power in your post, if that makes sense... it's one thing to see reblogs of logan videos with captions saying "how could you hate him 😢" and stuff (which no hate to anyone who does, I'm guilty of doing this too and I don't think there's anything wrong with it!!) But I just think it's so special and so important that you actually went out of your way to do the research, learn the info, and share and demonstrate just how remarkable he really is.

hi !! thank you so much for your kind words , this was so lovely to read in response to my logan post 🥹 i genuinely did not expect it to gain as much traction as it did , i was just upset one day and decided i needed to write that post about him so that others can gain some perspective on him and his situation . and i fully agree about what you said concerning reblogs of logan videos !! yes i agree , there's nothing wrong with reblogging videos / photos of him and captioning them "how could you hate him :(" because i , too , have done the same ! but not everything knows the full scope and extent of his career and talent capabilities , hence the need for further explanation on why we could never hate him . logan haters see posts about logan with captions like "how could you hate him :(" and don't get an explanation for why he's better than everyone thinks . often times , they end up thinking we just love him because he's cute and has a good personality -- which he does , and i love that about him !! but there's more to him than just those things , and understanding WHY he's a good driver and WHY we love him outside of the surface level version of him we've seen thus far in f1 is so so so important .

and it becomes especially important when logan haters only see his career in f1 so far and don't see the little wins he's had along the way . they focus solely on his crashes , the "destructor's championship" , and how alex is doing in comparison to him . they seem to forget that alex has been in formula 1 longer than logan . they seem to forget the hardships that alex had -- must i remind us of his redbull years ?? they seem to forget that alex has had more time to develop his skill and become a better driver than logan . and it's such a frustrating thing , because logan is then immediately credited as a "bad driver" when he's nothing of the sort !! he just needs support from his team , the proper amount of experience before getting into f1 (though by now that's a little too late because of how quickly williams jumped him up to f1) , and he needs to be getting the same upgrades as his teammate ???? it's genuinely ridiculous that they're having him drive a car that's heavier and has outdated (2023 !!!) parts and expect him to do as well as his teammate who has a MUCH lighter car and new parts .

and no worries about your message being long !! i'm sorry that my response ended up being super long , too , haha -- i am just so so passionate about people knowing drivers' past before they jump to conclusions and hate on them . the drivers in f1 are there for a reason and they're the top 20 in the world . they were chosen for a reason . that means that logan sargeant was chosen for a reason , and they're treating him like crap currently . williams needs to shape up so that logan can start showing the most of his potential and show how good of a driver he is , rather than constantly being pushed out of a moving car onto the highway -- aka what they're doing to him now !!!

I want someone to provide me canon text as to why Elain "can't stand being near Lucien" and how that proves she doesn't find him attractive.

Does she ignore him as of the novella and SF? Yes but so did Nesta when it came to Cassian:

There were layered and complex reasons for why Nesta ignored Cassian at various points throughout the series regardless of her attraction to him so why couldn't there also be layered and complex reasons for Elain in regards to Lucien?

So how does anyone know with 100% certainty that Elain has zero sexual attraction to Lucien just because she ignores him at this point in the series, a change from what happened between them in ACOWAR:

Feyre cringed at the sound of Rhys's name after she had fallen for him:

Cringed at his name after running away from him after he was wounded once she found out they were mates.

We saw these moments despite the fact that Rhys was the most beautiful man Feyre had ever seen:

Elain doesn't have to want to interact with Lucien to be sexually attracted to him, correct? There are many people I find extremely good looking who I'll never interact with because I'm not in a position to pursue them. If she is sexually attracted to him she might not want to act upon it if she's not in the frame of mind for something more meaningful which sex with a known mate would most likely be. Even without having fallen in love a confirmed bond is a bridge to anothers soul and that's a lot more than just sex. Her not wanting more right now makes sense after her broken engagement, her not wanting a mate for that same reason at this point in the series does too though it's something that could easily change in the span of 800+ pages.

Hooking up with Lucien would come with much more intensity than hooking up with a random guy she sees from time to time and who she doesn't share a bond with.

It's canon Elain found Az attractive but we have no proof she found him better looking than Graysen, that he's anything special to her at all, that hooking up with him would have meant anything at all.

And while it's canon she wanted to hook up with Az we don't have the reasons behind it, whether a night of fun, proving to Nesta that she too can go off and fuck strangers or her simply trying to forget the emotions she might feel when her mate is around.

I can't prove with certainty that is the case but the other side can't prove it isn't therefore it's still on the table.

In SF it became canon that Nesta found Cassian appealing from the start though she did not give in to her sexual desires for him until her book.

So again where is this canon text that proves we can't see the same for Elain in regards to Lucien?

organization is about how we gather stimuli in our environment to complete tasks quickly and more effectively. it's about arranging our surroundings, providing order, and structuring items and activities around us.

this topic can be applied in so many instances - including physical spaces, digital files, schedules, and mental clarity.

staying organized offers several benefits:

★ when you're organized, you waste less time searching for things or figuring out what to do next. this efficiency leads to increased productivity

★ clutter and chaos can contribute to stress. an organized environment promotes a sense of calm and control.

★ organization helps you allocate time effectively. you can prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently.

★ a clutter-free workspace (or living space) allows you to concentrate better on the task at hand.

★ organized spaces encourage healthier habits, such as regular exercise, balanced meals, and adequate rest.

but how can you stay organized?

★ start with one area of focus (e.g. closet, desk, documents, ...) and gradually expand. focusing on one area allows you to see tangible progress, and as you declutter or organize, you'll build momentum to tackle other spaces.

trying to organize everything at once can be overwhelming. by narrowing your focus, you can prevent feeling swamped. concentrating on a specific area also allows you to learn effective strategies,, which you can apply to other parts of your life!

personally, the biggest issue i have with organization is building (and maintaining) a good system for digital files. it is crucial for me to learn how to organize these well, however, as a digital creator.

here is the process:

★ create a folder structure,, and design a clear hierarchy of folders that reflect your workflow. organize files logically based on projects, departments, dates, or file types.

at the moment i sort my files as content home < links, content plan, instagram, pinterest, tumblr, youtube < scheduling, post ideas

however, sometimes i find myself with documents that don't fit any of these sections. my plan for the future is to reorganize this to be the most effective it can.

★ use descriptive file names,, and name files clearly and concisely. include relevant keywords to make searching easier

★ consider using tags to categorize files across multiple dimensions. tags enhance searchability and allow flexible organization.

this is something that i am looking to employ!

★ utilize cloud services like google drive or dropbox for easy access from anywhere.

i will forever be a notion girl,, even though it is not quite a cloud service, it allows me a similar experience.

★ make decluttering a routine. delete duplicate or unnecessary files.

★ pin essential folders to your sidebar for quick access.

physical decluttering

writing this, i was reminded of the (horrid) bedrotting trend, especially those videos where people would show their rooms with shit everywhere and mould growing on stuff. i'm aware that some people find it super hard to maintain organization or declutter - hoarding is a very real issue.

the benefits of staying organized were previously mentioned, but decluttering specifically has its own little set of positives. this includes reduced stress, improved focus, enhanced productivity, and more positive overall wellbeing.

here are some essential tips if you are struggling to get started:

choose a small area or category to begin decluttering. set a timer (15-30 minutes) and sort items in that area into 'keep', 'donate', 'trash', or 'unsure' piles.

you could also attempt a room-by-room approach, by tackling one room at a time. focus on completing each room fully before moving on to the next.

try to organize your belongings into categories (keep, donate, sell, discard) to make decisions easier.

remember - progress comes from consistent effort, and small steps lead to a clutter-free space.

To be very honest though, for today's ep I will be getting serious more than usual, because it was quite significant in the flow of the plot, and also had moments of communication (this emotional constipation is what makes me yearn for Cherry Magic ah) that need to be studied a little closely.

HOWEVER, there will most definitely be crack because this group of friends is (unapologetically) batshit crazy and my brain refuses to not make comments at the most inappropriate times.

See, in this camp, almost all of them are paired up in the sense that they usually stick to that person. Even Beer has MIck. But then comes wild card Kluen, who's hogging all of Peem's attention as much as he can and that leaves Phum. Alone.

I will be getting back to this running motif of Phum being alone and how it changes through the ep in later scenes as well

Also, after they went back, both Mick and Beer asked if he really was okay, which made me smile, because maybe, Phum isn't as alone as he thinks himself to be. There are people who care for him, who are concerned, who'll support him, and of course, he always has Fang, his beloved phi

The apology. It is at this point that they're leaving all the past pain, grief and anger in the past

Q makes sure to tell Toey that yes, he may have loved Milk Frappe Boy, but now, in the present, all his love was for Toey, his lovable annoying mentee

This apology is not only to Toey, or Milk Frappe Boy, but to himself as well, because by causing pain to a person he loves twice, he'd caused himself pain too

The perfect sweet and romantic moment, but also with a teeny bit of teasing, because that's who they are

No joke, I gasped and nearly stopped breathing when he said this

Peem's reply, his soft but kind of hurt voice were just so painful to hear

But it's also this moment that Peem gives Phum a reality check – if he really didn't want to, he wouldn't be doing any of this, and Phum had no business trying to control his life

The conversation outside with Q was significant, but also a diluted reflection of Peem's earlier (in ep. 7) talk with Q

Even a few episodes earlier, Q would have gone ballistic on Phum for treating his bestie like this, but now, he asks Peem how he feels for Phum, tries to understand exactly what their relationship is

It was at this point that he knew, he fucked up

And, we are back to square one where Phum is left alone again

As I'd said before, this a repeating motif throughout the series, but especially the last two episodes

This is how it has always been in Phum's life: he has been left behind. He does have Fang, but now even Fang has a boyfriend. And while this does not affect his brother's affection towards him in anyway, it does introduce a new strand of lonliness for Phum because 1. no matter what, he loves his brother a lot, and knows how much he loves Tan, so he definitely will try to stay out of their way at least sometimes and 2. he wants a boyfriend too. Further, he wants Peem, but there's a push and pull there, and after what he said, in his mind he had pretty much ruined his chances with his crush

This is the moment Phum starts to hope that maybe, just maybe, his feelings aren't as unrequited as he'd thought.

On the other hand, Peem is the one afraid here. What if the deal is all that's holding them together? What if without it, Phum will have no reason to be as close to him?

Peem, baby, for one, your groups are already merged, and secondly, this guy is head over heels for you, no way he'd stop following you like a lost puppy

(Apparently, it's not Peem's turn with the communal braincell this week 😭)

Here, Phum is technically alone, but he's surrounded with friends, and he's smiling

He isn't left behind here, for once, he's sitting there by choice (to shamelessly ogle his crush, but shh we don't talk about that) with the comforting knowledge that when/if he jumps in, he won't be left out, Kluen be damned

Once the floodgates of affection have been opened to Q, there's no going back <3

Everything leading up to this point is also so very delightful

Phum helping them out in the cafe, despite probably having never worked a day in his life, discovering how Peem still kept the roses and finally, finally, the completed painting. This sight, above all, is what convinces Phum that Peem might have feelings for him after all; because which fool would lie about not having completed something that would free them from being a slave to someone? A fool in love, that's who

i didnt put this in the notes on the actual fic because its quite a long story, but i wanted to talk about it somewhere so ill do it here

my fic, Banter or Bullying, is based on an actual interaction i had with some of my close friends who i live with. our friend group has that dynamic where we all make fun of each other, but one person in particular seems to take the brunt of it. he gets made fun of more often and more harshly than other people seem to, despite being a lovely person (albeit with a few annoying habits, but everyone in this house has some, including me. thats just part of being human.)

basically, i was having a meltdown in my bedroom. i forget exactly what it was about, i think i was just having a bad time and something sent me over the edge. i find that distraction is the best technique to comfort me during a meltdown, so i went downstairs to see if anyone was in the living room and could take my mind off things for a bit, and this particular friend was the only one in there. he was sitting on the couch playing like. a star wars video game. it was like a military tactics simulator or something. idk, not really my thing.

i sat down next to him and he could see i was upset, so he offered to put the game away so we could talk about it but i was like no thanks can i just watch you play? so he said sure, and he let me sit with my head on his shoulder while he explained everything he was doing in the game. i didnt understand most of it, but it made me feel better just to sit with him and listen to him talk

then one of my other flatmates walked past, and she was like oh no hes trapped you in an explanation of his star wars game, blink twice if you need help, etc. and that upset me because i was like, no, i like spending time with him, hes making me feel better right now and actually being really nice to me, and you're just being mean for no reason, acting like im being held against my will or something

and i may be projecting, but i feel like spock gets treated a very similar way, especially by mccoy. it hurts my heart to see an autistic coded character be treated the same way as my friend, and the same way as a lot of neurodivergent people i know when they try to talk about their interests, or even just exist in a way that makes sense for them, and they constantly get negative comments about it.

so i wrote that fic as kind of. a way to express my affection for my friend, and also for spock. and to stick up for spock the way i did for my friend in that moment. no one deserves to feel like their friends dont care about their interests, or even that their friends dont like spending time with them.

i guess, moral of the story, if you have a friend that gets made fun of more than everyone else, make sure to check in with them every once in a while. ask if they're actually having fun when you're bantering with them or if it is hurting their feelings. and if you ever think a joke is going too far, say something. its nice to know that someone is in your corner

[ PT1 HERE ] writing some more for them cus i cant get enough of their dynamic

Mauga wouldnt mind sharing you, polyamory was nothing new to him and he knew better than anyone about the need of exploring ones options and the fun that can bring. Plus, whats better than one lover?

Venture on the other hand... was not so keen on the idea. Not at all actually. They werent so much the possessive type and felt quite secure about their relationship with you, but what really irked them was that it had to be him out of all people.

Not only was Mauga full of himself but he also had no respect or consideration for anything other than materialistic goods and shiny things, or at least thats how Sloane viewed him.

If you had some fun with Mauga, Venture would know. Not because you bragged about it but because the sneaky bastard would leave hickeys only others could notice. Some behind your ear or the back of your neck, something you could, and often did, very easily miss.

If him and Venture had yet another argument prior, he would no longer bother trying to hide his markings. Instead, he would make sure they were as dark and as many as possible and would then leave the problem of covering them to you. He knew that Sloane would know it was him and that only irritated the archeologist further.

Forget about Mauga, what irritated Venture the most was how he pulled these little stunts and played these games at your expense.

But Venture was no better. Venture tried being the bigger person but they just couldnt. They were both childish in that sense.

So Venture played along. And when you spent the night with them instead, they'd make sure to leave something for the eyes too. Something for theirs and Maugas eyes only. Little bruises and marks along your chest, ribs or thighs, something they knew only Mauga would have to see sooner or later. Venture would then coax you to mark them as well in easy to spot places; neck, jaw. Hoping for that to be a silent but strong enough 'fuck you' to Mauga. They would even strain their neck and keep their chin high to make sure he would notice.

Even tho they disliked eachother they knew how to act civil and put aside their bickering when they wanted to. Sometimes, all three of you needed a break, some time to relax, so you would go out to a bar. Sometimes it would be a club, depending on the mood.

Mauga would keep ordering you a round of shots or some fun sounding cocktails, or whatever you picked out when he offered to get you something. It was cute at first, issue was he didnt know when to stop. Or he didnt want to stop.

With one large arm around your shoulders, he would pass you drink after drink.

Whatever you picked he ordered for himself too. There being a very obvious difference in mass, he wouldnt feel a difference while you felt the alcohols effect very quickly. But Mauga didn't see a problem. You were all here to let loose, no?

Venture would juggle between nonalcoholic beverages and some light booze while they cautiously watched you drink, unsure of Maugas intentions. With each passing glass they saw you get more bubbly, more chatty and more touchy... with everyone.

For the sake of your own dignity, they told themself, Venture would keep you close to them so you wouldnt wander off getting touchy feely with some stranger, or even worse, Mauga.

They'd keep you close as they held you by your waist. At this point you were practically wasted, your eyes could barely stay open, so you were both sat. Venture was sure you wouldn't be able to stand if you tried to. Your hands still feeling grabby held tightly onto and squeezed their arm as you leaned heavily into their body.

Mauga, enjoying himself like nothing, would try and snatch you away for a dance, feeling only slightly tipsy now, but Venture would quickly swat his pesky hands away letting you rest unbothered some more.

I think if we are to do marginalized communities good, it'll help to remember that often, marginalized people who seem to be "forgotten about" in the mind of bigots aren't being treated well by them either - so many marginalized people are forcibly erased and made invisible. That is not a neutral action; it is a form of violence. Not all violence will present itself in the extreme of facing physical violence. The core of any violence against marginalized peoples will often come from a similar level of hatred for them. That's why it's so important to combat all violence, even the forms of violence you don't perceive "as harmful" as other forms.

Tidbits of ATSV That I Enjoyed (Or Alternatively: Just Miles Being The Most Endearing Spidey Ever)

Miles patting The Spot's head after successfully webbing him (I don't see this as condescending, but rather him still engaging with the humanity of a villain like Spot) and ~very assertively~ telling/asking him not to escape.

Miles' spidey senses going off when he arrives late to his dad's party because there's nothing more frightening than Brown parents when they're mad at you. Beware the chancla or correa!

O.k. So we all know there are different versions of the movie out there. You may already know that one of the slight differences is when Miles goes to save Inspector Singh. There's a version where you can hear Gwen's voice in the distant background yelling no! when she thinks Miles gets crushed under the rubble, and there's another where she's silent as she webs to him. Now, I have found ANOTHER version (online) where her shouting is even more at the forefront. i think twelve and clara are starting to make sense to me but i don't think it's what moffat intended or how the ppl that like them see their dynamic

#they are so obsessed with each other but not as people but the ideas of each other. #twelve's whole character to me feels like the grieving immortal that no longer has anything as a buffer #between him and the weight of the universe. so he sees clara as this culmination of every one of the companions he's lost before #and that adds up. what w/ eleven meeting versions of clara and seeing them die. that adds up w/ clara's presence in heaven sent #faceless and just telling him what to do. she is the companion he cannot fail this time (but he also #cannot reconcile how one of the reasons he keeps someone like her around is /because/ she's mortal) #meanwhile clara bc of her time in the tardis and how she was treated by eleven. thinks herself to be more than she is #she thinks she's owed so much in her life and she thinks she can handle all of it. like ten in waters of mars #so she views twelve and the life in the tardis as an affirmation of what's so extraordinary about her #which is also how she sees danny. i think her character really sings if this is the main idea w/ her relationships with others #bc it's how the doctor acted around her when he first met her. not seeing her as a person but as an idea a mystery a means to an end #so of course as someone who becomes more and more like the doctor as time goes on it makes so much sense that this would be so central #just like how w martha's doctorfication arc it was about self-sacrifice and violence and death. bc that's how ten acted around her #twelve and clara still have the standard traits of doctor and companion of course. the doctor saves the companion when they're in trouble. #the companion remembers to care when the doctor forgets. but they're going through familiar motions as they #start to lose more and more of themselves by being around each other. bc they don't really see the other person #and that's why their dynamic is so obsessive and toxic #dr who #12 era #now this reading has made both characters make a lot of sense to me but also this has tanked my enjoyment of hell bent #in how clara's arc resolves. i won't elaborate more on that until i actually get to it on the rewatch though
