I noticed some a-spec flags were missing tertiary counterparts, so I made some. Some of these flags have already been made before, so they're not all original (I still wanted to have all the flags together in a set, and all in the same res).

one thing I love about being non-binary but also aromantic, asexual, nonaesthetic, demiplatonic and demisensual is that the closest thing I have to thinking someone is hot is gender envy.

which means that if someone asked me to rank a load of pictures based on who's the least and most attractive I would literally just sort them from the most normal conventional looking (aka most fitting in with gender roles and most conventionally attractive for most people) people at the "least" end of the list and the most alt fashion androgynous weird-looking little gremlins for "most".

Update! if translation errors appear, which would be so annoying, I spent literally a hour making sure that would work - I already couldn't use the audio file. Many have complained about it before, but I will never not be pissed off by seing content labelled as "for aspecs" that is EXPLICTLY only for aroacespec. Will never not be the most frustrating reminder other aspecs do not exist to people. Aspec =/= just acespec and arospec. If you want to make content for aspecs, include non-rose identities.

[Not to mention even within this there is very little room for the variety in ace and aro communities, even when they're supposed to be included in it. Tons of content caters to only one subset/one idea of what each means and discludes aros and aces outside of that bubble.]

Prefacing this by saying this doesn’t really have much to do with aplatonicism, but I wanted to do it anyway.

Okay, so there are, like, pages and pages of asexual and aromantic symbols, and there are a decent amount of aplatonic symbols (we could have more, but whatever), but there aren’t really symbols for other anattractional identities. You know,

Aqueerplatonic

Anaesthetic

Asensual

Afamilial

Probably a whole bunch I’m forgetting

And there needs to be symbols. Because hey, isn’t half the fun of being aspec having a bunch of obscure stuff to represent yourself?/hj. I tried coming up with stuff by myself, but I quickly figured out that was going to be a lot of work. So I’m letting other people do it for me! Here’s a Google Forms where you can submit ideas. I’ll make a post with all the submissions I got after I get a decent amount of responses.

A (perhaps-not-so) Friendly Reminder!

Aspec does not mean: "Ace-spec and Aro-spec and that's it". And y'all need to stop saying it is. I know some of it may be unintentional, and that you might be uneducated, but here's the thing:

You can be Aspec with literally any and all forms of attraction.

That's right. If there is a form of attraction, there are people out there who don't experience it, or experience it differently from people who experience it in the "normal", Allo way. And those people are aspec. They might not identify as aspec. They might not even know what that is, but they are inherently aspec. Which means; by saying that aspec identities are just ones that fall under ace-spec and aro-spec, you are excluding a lot of people.

Let's take me for example:

Yes, I am aroace, but I am also:

Aplatonic

Asensual

Nonaesthetic

Analterous

Probably other aspec identities

I am aspec, but that's not just because of my aroace identity.

If you mean ace-spec, just say that. If you mean aro-spec, just say that. If you mean aroace-spec just say that. It is that easy. If you don't mean aspec, don't say aspec.

Edit (5/5/23): It has been brought to my attention that I forgot about Agender folks. My apologies, I had sort of tunnel visioned on attraction types. But yes, Agender people are also Aspec!

This is a blog for people on the atertiary spectrum to talk about our experiences with being atertiary/ otherwise on the atertiary spectrum.

Atertiary refers to a disconnect from tertiary attraction and/or tertiary relationships, or little to no tertiary attraction. Tertiary attraction is any attraction thats not romantic or sexual, it is also called nonrose or eriattraction. Atertiary spec (aterspec) ppl may nor not be on the aro and/or ace spectrums, and may or may not be favorable to tertiary/nonrose relationships.

Being aromantic is not inherently all about friendship or having platonic squishes or wanting qprs!

Aros who are aplatonic, aplspec, nonfriending, plato averse, nonpartnering, aqueerplatonic, analterous, qpr averse, or otherwise do not fit norms surrounding platonic and qpr stuff(which seems to be compounded and intensely seen as 'aro culture' in general aro spaces) are amazing and we deserve to have our experiences acknowledged and we deserve to feel included in the aro community!

My take on the aspec flag!

[ID: A flag with 6 horizontal stripes, divided in four sections by a white compass rose in the middle of the flag. Each section has 3 stripes that form a gradient that gets darker towards the middle of the flag. Clockwise, the sections are in red, green, blue, and purple hues. /End ID]

The 'main' aspec flag only includes the ace and aro spectrums, and I didn't find any inclusive flag I liked, so I made my own. This flag focuses on the diversity of the a-spectrum.

Symbolism:

None of the colors have meaning on their own. The dark purple and dark green are taken from the most used flag, just a little fun fact.

The colors are separated in different sections because the a-spectrum is vast and individuals within it can have wildly different experiences while still being under the same umbrella.

But they're also grouped in gradients, because multiple different 'colors', or individuals, can still belong in the same space and have similar experiences!

The white compass rose is a tribute to the most used flag; it still represents how different individuals feel or don't feel attraction.

However, I also kept it white because for some, white is the absence of hue or saturation, representing a lack of attraction, and for others, it's what you get when you combine every color, representing wholeness even without 'traditional' colors.
