My close friends are a massive inspiration too, whatever brain gremlins they have usually end up infecting me. Also the mood setting stuff, like listening to certain music can set the tone for what I'll feel like writing later, or if I'm hyperfocused on something (eg. at the moment it's nail polish) I'll think about how a certain character might relate to that. I literally painted my nails black with holo glitter because I thought my OC would wear her nails like this. story behind url : Aerith's white materia summons the ultimate white magic, Holy. She's the guardian of the white materia, which she keeps hidden in her hair ribbon. Holy Guardian. I toyed with changing her URL to being oearth because she has such a close tie with the earth being a gardener, and being in tune with the planet, plus if you squint it kind of looks like I jumbled her name around (Ifalna's name is a transliteration of "final" and Aerith's was supposed to be a near-anagram of "earth") BUT I'M TOO ATTACHED TO CHANGE IT. fun fact about me : My blood type is O negative yeehaw.

Thinking about how my Chronicle of the Spheres series is kind of an open letter to my extremely Lutheran upbringing, and an ongoing discussion of the effects of growing up queer and neurodivergent in that environment.

The setting, with its strong focus on the citizens of Heaven and Hell, is an obvious reflection of that. Then there’s the eventual reveal that “demon” used to mean “problem” and then linguistic drift happened. And the way all the major villains are characters who abuse the power they have over others (I know, I know, low hanging fruit). The fact that angels and demons for the most part are just people, but sometimes there’s an archangel who is vast eldritch and unknowable and he gets mad and stomps around because someone he’s fond of got hurt. There’s the character with a chronic illness being cast out from his own people. There’s the character struggling to face his trauma and screwing up over and over again while being exceptionally competent at everything else he does. There are exhausted healers.

Lost Souls aren’t condemned, they’ve just strayed from where they belong. Dragons are a diverse category of beings ranging from crow-like to godlike. Fallen angels have committed murder, but what about angels who have done every evil except murder? Sometimes a person can become an entirely different species. Mostly people just need the care and support of others.

There’s a theme of growth and healing throughout these stories. Akieryon goes far from home to find his place. Ragheiyont discovers (by total accident) a way to better manage his symptoms. Blood must be paid to restore the world of the dead, but it must be as just an act as the one that broke it. The remnants of a fractured culture will come home. The fridged character will be thawed.

It will be okay.

We will heal.

We will find where we belong.

fanfics? no. plain stories? yes. i started on wattpad in 2016. i deleted all my stuff but there's some drafts i'm reworking into ateez fics.

writing process:

i tend to imagine scenarios i can associate with the music i listen to. my stories are mostly influenced by lana del rey songs, but i primarily gravitate towards music w. descriptive & imaginative lyricism.

𖤍 i'm dyslexic. so i use text-to-speech to read people's fics, & speech-to-text to write my stuff.

𖤍 sucker for supernatural (esp. witch, vampire) media/literature. fave witch archetype is the voodoo & wicca-inspired. hate the wizard archetypes, put the wand down. fave vampire archetypes are bram stoker, anne rice & l.j. smith. hate stephenie meyer archetypes, vampires should NOT sparkle in the sun. loathe werewolf media/literature.

𖤍 have an undying appreciation for dark themes & gore in media/literature, but only if it's well-executed & feels natural to the plot. something about delving into that frame of mind to produce such work & coming out mentally unscathed, is praiseworthy.

I. favourite colours: This answer changes all the time for me. Currently my favourite colour is green, followed very closely by white and blue.

II. favourite flavours: Intense! If the recipe asks for 1 garlic clove no it didn't it wants the whole damn garlic — I love curry dishes especially, anything with strong flavour has my whole heart (I think that comes from a childhood of the saddest bland foods imaginable haha).

III. favourite genres: High fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery. I think that sums up my general interests.

IV. favourite music: If it reminds me of my blorbos I'll listen to it. I have playlists on my phone so I can listen to character-inspired bops on the go. Ashnikko, AURORA, Cloudy June, Elle King and Stela Cole get honourable mentions. I also love soundtrack music. Final Fantasy XIV soundtracks by Masayoshi Soken are top rated, and I know I was once pretty obsessed with Ramin Djawadi's work on Game of Thrones.

V. favourite movies: The Lion King and The Mummy for nostalgic reasons. James Cameron's Avatar franchise for showing me what cinema could be. My favourite of all time is a tough one to choose, probably Princess Mononoke.

VI. favourite series: Beef, Brooklyn 99, Community, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Game of Thrones, Midnight Mass, Samurai Champloo, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Glory, The Haunting of Hill House / Bly Manor, The Last of Us, The Witcher.

VIII. last series: The Fall of the House of Usher. Carla Gugino is absolutely my celebrity crush.

IX. last movie: It has been so long since I last watched a movie, I think it was Barbie back in August of 2023. It was okay at best, wouldn't want to spend the money on a ticket if I knew what I was walking into. Disappointed because I thought it was going to be a silly little time from the trailers, it looked like something that would be fun and quirky with more humour in the plot (especially since it seemed marketed as something kids would love to come watch too) but its attempts at existentialism and feminist commentary fell flat for me.

X. currently reading: Nothing currently, unless RecipeTin Eats cookbook counts. Dinner by Nagi Maehashi has been an absolute winner for me.

XI. currently watching: At the moment I'm only really watching things on Youtube, specifically Charlotte Dobre and Gab Smolders.

XII. currently working on: The bigger and more meaningful things are weight loss and keeping up with a skincare routine. Next on my list is a new makeup routine but foundation is far too expensive for me to replace right now. I'm also finishing off abandoned videogames, I blasted through Breath of the Wild (and desperately want to chew on Tears of the Kingdom now) and I have Resident Evil 4 sitting there and taunting me.

last movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It's one of my favourite films of all time and definitely a comfort watch. I've seen it fourteen times.

currently reading: Physical-book wise, it's Atonement by Ian McEwan. I heard good things about it and picked it up for £1 in a charity shop, but I'm struggling with it at the moment. McEwan's prose is needlessly flowery and overly abstract, and it keeps yanking me out of the story.

Virtually, I'm re-reading Rush (For A Gap That Exists) by sleepstxtic on AO3. It's a crossover fanfiction between Harry Potter and Formula One, with the Harry Potter characters, houses and organisations transplanted into the world of modern Formula One racing. It's a great story even if you aren't a motorsport fan - read it here!

sweet/spicy/savory: Savoury, if I'm being honest. I do have a sweet tooth, but eating sweets too much makes me feel queasy and guilty, whereas I could never get sick of sausage rolls, steak bakes and chorizo and cheese rolls. Yum :)

relationship status: single at the moment. There are possibilities of that changing in the near future though... hmm...

current obsession: Motorsport Manager. It's a PC game where you take the reins of a fictional racing team or create your own, managing your drivers, cars, race strategy, staff and headquarters as you endeavour to win at the highest level and leave your mark on the sport. I tend to make all the people in the game into characters even though they're only randomly-generated portraits, and use the game to create storylines or scenarios. It's way too addictive. I've probably written way too many career reports and fics going into all my save files: the drama between drivers, certain dramatic races, fictional magazine articles and write-ups... at some point I'll get over the embarrassment and post a few bits here.

last thing I googled: I assume this relates to writing; otherwise it's just 'how long should you reheat cottage pie in the microwave for?' as that's what I'm having for tea tonight. The last thing I googled for writing purposes was 'France 2027 election predictions'

currently working on: A sci-fi short story regarding the first spaceflight from a 'ringworld' where a group of monks and inventors defy an oppressive, anti-technology society to launch a manned rocket into space, and are shocked by the nature of the world they inhabit. Also a dystopian science-fiction piece regarding a woman who becomes addicted to selling her memories on the black market and gradually loses her identity and sanity in the process.
