#You know it would be funny how bad people have become in writing an argumentative text on here if it wasn't so sad to see
Text
Yeah I can tell people have lost their grasp on basic ongoing forms of oppression when they say things like "hatred of men and masculinity is one of the reasons trans women, BIPOC and Jewish men are persecuted" like what a non-sequiteur. Imagine being so ignorant of power structures in your attempt to """progressively""" defend men that you become transphobic

boyfriend! sunoo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
idk if you guys know this but i love sunoo with my whole heart so writing this made me so so sooo happy :)
request: sunoo bf canons? 💐 - @smouches !!
genre: fluff. established relationship. headcannon.
warnings: mentions of arguments, skinship and kissing.
❀˖° heeseung jay jake sunghoon sunoo jungwon ni-ki ..
Tumblr media
- sunoo is the definition of friends to lovers. he's so just so out going and he loves to talk to people that, he would automatically become your friend first. even if thst wasn't his original intention.
- he spends so much time with you, accompanying you everywhere. and frankly just loves the fact that you trust him in the way you do. so when he randomly confesses his feelings over coffee. you have no idea how to react.
- at first he was confident but your hesitation to respond made him a bit nervous. he would hate to lose a friend over something like this. however, when you confessed back he couldn't help but smile.
- something he always does, is bring you snacks or sweet treats. he always picks something up before seeing you incase you havent eaten or have a craving.
- he's just so unbelievably caring. he'd always put your comfort over his. and makes an effort to write down things like your favorite foods, colors, flavors, scents. in order to get you things or make sure you're comfortable at all times.
- one thing he loves to do is spoil you, if you go shopping with him he wouldn't let you touch your wallet even once. everything is on him.
- while on the topic of shopping dates, sunoo loves shopping with you because you can both give eachother honest opinions on items. he trusts your judgement 100% just like you trust his.
- even if he says couple items are a little cheesy, he would go out and happily buy matching couple outfits or try to cordinate his outfit with yours before going on dates.
- you guys would 100% have matching earbud cases. and it would be the cutest thing. he might even convince you to get matching phone cases too.
- his love language is sharing his food. he also expects you to share as well. it's a two way street in his eyes. to the point where he probably wouldn't even ask before taking a bite. he argues that you guys are partners and partners share everything.
- sometimes you both go out on snack dates where you go to the local convience store and pick out snacks you've never heard of before and try them together. it always makes him laugh when you make a funny face and he knows the snack isnt good.
- you must praise him. he loves hearing pretty things about himself it makes him feel so loved. bonus points if each compliment is said between kisses. he might get a little shy inbetween but seeing him blush is so worth it.
- he lets you squish his cheeks, something only reserved for you. especially if you're gonna call him cute while doing it. he lives for it.
- sunoo loves nights where you both just stay in and play a cheesy movie in the background just to gossip over each other's friends. he listens to all your tea and even gives his own opinions on it. even if he's never met the people you're talking about he's interested in the story you're telling and their situation.
- sometimes he begs you to let him do your make up, he watched a couple tiktoks and swears he knows what he's doing.
- the same goes for cutting your hair, sunoo actually really likes styling and cutting hair so if you let him he'd cut your bangs for you after they've grown out a bit too much. its one of the ways he shows he loves you, he's not bad at it at all.
- he also takes the best pictures of you, his camera roll is full of cute pictures of you they almost out number his own selfies.
- you share clothes with eachother. just like before he claims "partners share everything." so one day you could be wearing his sweater and another day he's wearing one of your oversized shirts. might as well just share a closet at that point.
- when ever you're upset or not doing well, he makes it his mission to make you feel better. no matter what. bringing you snacks, making cute faces, sending you heartfelt messages, just simply loving you so much he knows you wouldn't be able to resist a smile.
- he gets so cutely clingy and is not ashamed to tell you when he just wants to lay and cuddle with you all day.
- the words "i love you." would slip out of his mouth so easily. he would probably be the first one to say it, however it would somewhat bother him if you didn't say it back.
- he's not exactly extemely jealous or possessive but, he knows how to set proper boundaries. he's okay with most things however, would prefer you have a conversation with him first to see how you both feel about what ever situation you might get into with someone else like a friend or stranger.
- expect sunoo to say things like "would you still love me if i was a worm?" and he would be dramatic if you said no.
- your phone is never safe. sometimes he grabs your phone and downloads the same game he has on your phone just so he can help himself out with your account. because of this he teaches you how to play his mobile games and you guys end up playing together all the time.
- as expected mint choco dates. he says he wants someone who likes mint choco but he also lowkey realized that if you don't like mint choco it means he doesnt have to share his ice cream. so it works either way.
- if anyone were to ask him what the best part of his days are. it's being able to unwind with you at the end of the day. when you both are doing your skin care in the bathroom and wearing cute head bands. just overall relaxing and getting ready for bed. he loves it.
- he would probably beg for you to let him do your skincare sometimes. sunoo would also be so excited to show you the new skin care he bought and wants you to try it right away.
- you'll unforunately be the victim of the sassy man apocalypse. this man is saaaaasssy and he would expect to get his way in the end 100% no matter what.
- fights are rare considering sunoo would prefer to be with someone similar to him. he talks a lot and enjoys having conversations so if theres any disagreements or misunderstandings he would simply talk it out with you.
- he also enjoys laying in bed and talking all night with you. one time you guys talked for a really long time about so many different things. that the sun came up and surprised you both.
- expect texts from him all the time! he loves texting and probably connects with you the most through text. he asks you how your day is, what you're up to. he also sends you lots of selfies.
- while on tour he whines about missing you a lot especially when something doesnt go his way or he's being beyond pouty. it gets to the point where the others call you and tell you that your boyfriend's pouting again.
- surpisingly, you are the only person aloud to play with uis hair. he only lets you put pig tails in it or add clips or even losely braid his short hair. he loves the feeling of your hands in his hair.
- if you're someone who is shyer or just more quiet. he would speak for you in public because he knows you don't like it. like when you're ordering food or asking for something st a store. he does it for you to make sure you're comfortable.
- because of his pre existing lung problems he does fall ill very often and you're always there to help him. he feels like a burden and most times apologizes to you for it however, you always comfort him and tell him not to speak of himself that way. you're a partnership meaning you're there for eachother regardless. and he lives by that.
- you get this warm feeling when ever he's around. even if he's not physically next to you, hearing him in the kitchen singing a random song or hearing his laugh from the living room makes the space so warm.
- both of you value laughing and not being too serious in your relationship. so the vibes are always perfect even if theres slight teasing.
- sunoo would assign you an animal so everytime he sees that animal, or a plush/toy of that animal he thinks of you. it's created a bit of a problem because now he has a collection of that animal in the corner of his room and no one would understand why except for you.
- communication between you guys is so effortlessly well. you both understand eachother and seem to always be on the same level. it's gotten to the point where you guys can communicate with looks. no words needed.
- overall, the relationship is very sweet. sunoo is such a caring and loving boyfriend. don't we all wish to have a sunoo? sigh.

Horikoshi Breaking Away From The Typical Shonen(and Media In General)Formula and DudeBros Can't Stand It.
I kinda wanted to talk about Horikoshi's writing; because it is really good. I feel like all the hate he has been getting and has gotten is so stupid. Not enough people are talking about it. (Probably because it's the Izuchakos making a ruckus.)
(⚠ I encourage everyone to try and keep in my mind that if you ever see people like this: do not interact. Just report them, they are not worth your time. And if they annoy you,try and stay kind and respectful,if they don't return the favor: REPORT. I don't choose what you do though,so,if you want to talk to them be my guest, but I encourage you to be respectful to try and spread positivity whenever you can even in the midst of a fucking asshole. We are all people behind these screens at the end of the day so let's be kind and civil.⚠)
Is Horikoshi Objectively Bad At Writing?
Okay, real quick,to the people who have and do @ Horkoshi to insult him and his manga: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! As long as Horikoshi hasn't done anything actually wrong, like a crime or somethin' you should not @ him to call him an awful person because you don't like that the story isn't going in the direction you thought it was and now you're throwing a tantrum how he writes.
Obviously everyone has an opinion, but for a thing to be objectively bad writing would be:
No Consistent Plot
No Foreshadowing (That's more of my opinion, but still)
No Character Arcs
Close To No Character Interactions
And No Passion
This would be objectively bad writing, but no matter what you opinion is on Horikoshi and his writing, this are things he EXCELS in. You may not like it,but he does, especially in the foreshadowing apartment, which again is a more personal critic on most shows and things I read. If something has no and or bad foreshadowing I kinda hate it. But the arc for the story and characters has been consistent if you have actually read the manga. Like,I see people who left the fandom and dropped the manga and come back like,
"I dropped the manga, and I have no idea what's happening, but I'm just gonna say it bad and make no sense because I watched season one and read the first ten chapters >:( " People will admit they have not read all the chapters or dropped the show/manga And will claim they know it's bad even though they don't have any knowledge of the show essentially. And these people are typically Bakugo antis,so it just goes to show: People who read all of it have the same understanding of the people who have barely read any of it in regards to Bakugo's character.
Bakugo's Death Not Being a Redemption, But A Way To Show Izuku's Feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(*I could not even fathom the feeling of working so hard, and people @ you that. It is so sad. I feel bad for Horikoshi,he does not deserve this hate,so,I will continue making posts about antis like this until they kinda disappear out of embarrassment when a certain relationship becomes canon.*)
Okay, here is a problem with shows in general:
STOP KILLING OFF CHARACTERS TO "REDEEM" THEM.
It is just so...lazy. Like, you can't write an actual good character development arc so you kill them off just so you don't have to keep them as a villain or whatever.
And with Katsuki,he's already redeemed himself. You know with the best apology to ever exist. This temporal death is important to his and Izuku's relationship. It was to show people, like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(*this is funny because this person used an "anti bkdk" tag for just Horikoshi's writing. So,they are admitting Horikoshi is a shipper, and that it is close to being canon.*)
The thing he spelled out wayyyyyyy before this.
Example:
Tumblr media
Katsuki's death was to expand on Izuku's Black Whip arc,and to show that his feelings, the ones he has to control, cause him to become selfish.
And the whole "there are no stakes" argument is so stupid ,this manga is not about how Izuku can kick ass,it's about self love, love, forgiveness, self forgiveness, and just the impact that feelings have on people's lives and the world. If a show or book needs to have death to make their story interesting then the author isn't good at writing. And if you need death to make a story interesting for you, then watch and or read something that has a lot of character death. I also hate that they are so self absorbed that they claim they are the TARGET AUDIENCE.
Ego And Target Audience
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(*That last one.did this person really just say that...a Fictional story was made up? I-I...I am mildly disappointed in this person's IQ. Or maybe they're too smart for me to understand.*)
Tumblr media
...I...wha? Honey,Hori started making manga because his mom loved his drawings,Inko is also based off his mother, and Horikoshi is just a more emotional guy overall. Look,I think this manga is for EVERYONE,but things can have a target audience, and that target audience may be: Woman,"Feminine" guys(or just guys who's masculinity is not so fragile they can admit they have feelings, thoughts and emotions, and maybe they aren't the target audience for everything),and queer people.
Look, these are the people who understand and are more impacted by the story more than people like this, who have such a big ego that every main MC who's a dude is for them. Izuku, whether you want to admit it or not,is in touch with his feminine side. He openly cries, shares his feelings,(unless they're his feelings for Kacchan) has emotional intelligence, and is just kind and sweet to people in general. He has what most people would describe as, "feminine traits."
Tumblr media
So,no,you are not the "target audience" ,but you can enjoy books, movies, shows, ect, without being the target audience. It may mean more and be more impactful for woman and mainly queer people such as myself. Which it has.
When Twice and Toga corrected Overhaul on using the wrong pronouns,I teared up. I never, and I mean never, had someone openly call me by they/them pronouns in my day to day life,so to see someone get the respect they deserve they way I've never had, made me a little emotional.
Tumblr media
(*For context they were happy that Hori killed off Katsuki and they were making jokes about how it "ended bkdk," and was all dandy until Hori brought him back, then they started insulting the manga.*)
So,to sit there and insult Horikoshi, for writing the manga the way he's intended to,and at the same time claim that you are the target audience is so...Egotistical. And it honestly shows how much, these people will contradict themselves just to try and be right. Because if one Shonen, show, movie, book, and or comic, isn't about them their whole life is OVER. They act like a Shonen having a canon queer MC is the death of them,LITERALLY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It really pisses me off the these people will say this is for them;and then as soon as something happens that they don't like,or proves that they aren't the target audience and not everything is going to cater to them(or their previous assumptions of the manga were wrong, and people that have been pointing this stuff out for years have been proven right),they immediately go to death threats and complaining.
Conclusion:
Stop insulting Horikoshi's work because it isn't what you expected, then turn around and claim you're the target audience. Horikoshi has been working HIMSELF TO DEATH to finish this, and you are seriously going to @ him to die because he didn't kill off a character? He's been working on this for ten years and is going to end it the way he wants to,the only person that has him at "gun point" is the people actively @ ing him because they can't handle the very thought of a Shonen MC being queer. And Characters do not need to die to make stories good.

oh dang, i just found your blog today and i really like the concept of jae. before (if you do) take him out, can you please head canon on how we met him/how he got obsessed? also love the whole concept of your blog
Hi! I'm so sorry for my lack of being alive. I'm here, ready to write and bang these requests out. Thank you for all the requests, love, and support.
Thank you very much!!
Tumblr media
JAE 'NIKO' LEE
Due to Jae's fame and job, he doesn't meet many people outside of his lifestyle. So when he meets you it's a big deal.
He automatically likes the fact you both live different lives and would actually prefer it if he were the one who'd provide. It gives him more control.
He has good eyes, and he knows how and who to pick. He picked you.
Jae 'bumped' into you, masked and clothed in all black to avoid being recognised and when he realises you didn't recognise him — even after hearing his voice and seeing his eyes, he falls instantly.
He likes the fact that he's a mystery to you. You don't know him, his life, anything at all. He's a random person on the streets.
He quickly turns into the stranger at your doorstep, getting familiar with your house, how you live, the windows you keep open to the fact you leave the back door unlocked because you lock the gate.
(he climbs over the gate, that won't stop him.)
He memorises your daily routine, who your friends are, and who he will get rid of. He makes note of even the smallest of things to what's your comfort food and what perfume you use the most.
He will even steal your perfume and replace it with a new one. He could have kept the new one, but it wasn't yours. Didn't hold your fingerprints and memories.
You had forgotten about the stranger you bumped into, but the stranger now knew everything about you.
Over the time of working as an idol, he paid close attention to the IT workers, especially the ones that would hack into things, usually to upvotes during comebacks and yearly awards.
He used those skills to hack into your things, keep a close eye on you when he's busy. Into the cameras outside your home to edit himself out after each visit but to see who you take home. Your phone to see who you're messaging and what photos he could keep.
All in all, he's your classic stalker.
Since he knows your life inside out, he knows it's about time you met him.
He did this smoothly, naturally, and you never suspected a thing.
You work two jobs, you had a late night shift, and they're the worst. You go home around 4AM, and by 1, you're bored out of your mind.
That's when a handsome stranger walked through, most of his face covered with a cap, which he pulled off, ruffling his dark hair as he ordered a drink.
You were honestly captivated. He's so beautiful.
Things went well. You have so much in common!
You made the joke of, 'Are you sure you aren't a stalker?' Whe. You express how alike you are, he jokes back: 'maybe I am. I stalk you everywhere. I'm just that obsessed' and it becomes a joke.
You think he's so funny and silly, little do you know he's quite literally telling you the truth.
He asks for your number before the night ends, and of course, you say yes.
After that, a wonderful bond is created.
You speak all the time. He doesn't tell you his job. He did say he works in entertainment, not that he's an idol. He wants to keep that side of him away from you.
He's so supportive and so so sweet you have moments where you think, 'do I deserve this? He's so perfect.'
He's the type to send you a sweet paragraph after a bad day, to reassure you, to send small things to your house 'just because it reminded me of you'
He's honestly the most perfect man you could ask for.
He's so romantic and asks you to be his officially on a cute date, something he knew you'd like. How could you say no? He's amazing.
"I know that people have hurt you before. I understand. I know it'll take time for you to show your full self to me. I know we will have bad days and arguments and moments where we wish we never met. But I will love all those moments because I love you. I know it's fast to say that, but I do. I love you. Everything about you. You're the light in the dark that I've been looking for all my life, and I won't let that go.
You're mine, forever and always."

Watching Him Fade Away Quackity x Reader
Tumblr media
Hello everyone! Checked my inbox and someone requested an argument headcanon for Quackity so I hope you y’all like it!
If anyone wants to request, my inbox is still open and I can write for other people as well if you want.
My writing may be bad since I’m getting back into it so please be patient with me :D Sorry for making it sad, I was listening to sad songs so yee! Enough rambling and on to the story! 🌙 🤍🩵
-HelloMoonlightLuna🌙🤍
Tumblr media
Arguments usually don’t happen between you and quackity, maybe small arguments about a misplaced item but you guys talk it out to ease out small tension.
Not this time though, this all started when you and Quackity were throw insults as a joke but it got a bit personal when Quackity started to tell you about how you dressed as if you wanted to hook up with everyone that kept staring at you.
This made you very upset because he knows that you were trying new styles to feel confident in yourself but insulting you saying the clothes you wore were giving hooker vibes?
The clothes weren’t even revealing at all! He knows how insecure you are and yet decided to insult you personally.
That’s how the argument started and it’s getting progressively worse now that they are both screaming at each other.
“Why would you say that Alex!? This was supposed to light hearted insults not personal insults! Did I ever say something to personally insult you!? No Alex I never did why? Because I know how insecure you are of yourself and I WOULD NEVER SAY ANYTHING TO BRING YOU DOWN! Are you going to say something or stay quiet!?” You screamed while glaring at him.
“Well how can I respond when you are screaming at me and interrupting me while I’m trying to apologize!? But it seems you don’t want to listen to me so you won’t get an apology! Why would I want to apologize to someone when they are flirting knowing that you’re in a relationship and you decide to flirt in FRONT IF ME!? Like don’t you realize how I felt in that moment!? NO BECAUSE YOU WERE TO BUSY LAUGHING AT THEIR JOKES WHILE THEY WERE LOOKING UP AND DOWN ON YOU!” He yelled while pulling his hair in frustration.
“Are you trying to accuse me of cheating!? All because I laughed at their jokes!? Wow that’s how low you think of me trying to cheat on you huh? Well you’re wrong because for once their jokes were actually funny unlike your stupid jokes you make that aren’t even funny!! Maybe you should try to take classes of how to become funnier and make a YouTube video about!? Funny how all this started all because you insulted how I dressed and how you let you’re insecurities get the best of you! Whoops sorry I didn’t mean to personally insult you about your relationship insecurities! Now you know how I felt in that moment right!?” I yelled while holding my head knowing a headache is forming from all the yelling.
“Oh wow now you are personally insulting me by using my insecurities!? You know what I had enough of this! I HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS ON ME ALREADY AND HAVING YOU AROUND HERE IS MAKING IT WORSE! You act like you know how to fix every problem we have and try to be a supportive girlfriend when in reality you don’t fucking know shit and the advice you would are always shitty!” Screamed Alex while looking at you but his heart dropped when he saw the tears forming in your eyes and your hands started shaking from the sadness and anger you held in.
“You know what let’s just end the relationship right here and right now! I was trying to be a supportive girlfriend and tried to help you out with your streams but I guess what I did wasn’t helpful at all and the advices I give were shitty. I guess I don’t know fucking shit like you said, don’t worry I’ll start packing my things so I can try to leave by tomorrow afternoon. I’ll have someone help me out so you don’t have to see me ever again and I hope you find someone better than me, someone that actually gives you good advice and helps you out.” You cried while covering your face to hide the redness.
He just stood there quiet knowing that there’s nothing he can do to try to patch the relationship up and whatever he tries to say won’t work. He just turns around and heads to his office to try to do some homework. He knew the relationship will never get fixed, he knew that if both were still together, things will only get worse. He doesn’t want to hurt you again like he did earlier.
You went to your guys bedroom and started packing up the important things like clothes and documents. You texted your friend to try to help you move the bigger stuff tomorrow. After you were done you went to lay on the bed and started crying knowing that this relationship will never get fixed, the way he insulted you and how you insulted him as well. If you try to stay with him, things will get worse and you don’t want that, you don’t want to hurt him again.
As they both fell asleep, they know it’s going to be hard to move on from each other but this is for the best. Maybe one day they might reconcile or they may find new partners who knows but they wish nothing but the best for each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you for reading! I tried my best and like I said I was listening to sad songs about breakups 😮‍💨 Also my inbox is open for requests! Sooo if you want to send one it will be open! I’ll try to work on them as fast as I can since I’m busy with life ☺️ Thank you my lovely moonstones🌙🤍🩵 See you all next time!

haizaki shougo is in the sticks
for @paintoreos who requested “could you write some fluff for Hanamiya/Haizaki of them being kissed by their s/o for the first time?? 🙏❤️” and @dust-of-fandoms who requested “I have been in a Haizaki mood for a couple of days now, would he be too annoying to write fluff for? I feel like the fluffy part of a relationship with him comes after he gets over himself and starts treating his partner better.” hope this works for you both!
engawas are like japanese architecture’s equivalent of a porch. haizaki’s aged up to 20 in this so i’m not promoting minors drinking. i'm not advising that adults drink either. haizaki is permanently bad role model.
Sat alone on the engawa, Haizaki takes another swig of beer and stares out across the sticky summer dusk, dimming fields stuffed with rice flowers and mosquitos. Excluding the crickets, he hears nothing but his own breath and the sloshing of the sip of beer in the can.
When she said her family was from the sticks, she really meant it.
It’s no place for a city boy like Haizaki. He misses the sound of anything and everything, police sirens to the neighbours’ arguments. Even thinking about the sound of the nursery kids screaming down the road is making him feel homesick. The sound of people and the sound of conflict: he’s only just realised that it’s been with him since he was born.
At last, he hears footsteps behind him and the thump of a girl coming to sit down beside him.
“You took your time,” Haizaki remarks, moving over for her.
She hands him another beer and opens her own. “Don’t tell me you were scared without me?”
“Scared? Of what - the crickets?”
“Bears. Ghosts. Serial killers.”
“Very funny.”
“I’m not kidding,” and she points towards a couple dwellings in the distance, her nightgown sleeve slipping down towards her elbow. “When my parents were born, the guy who lived over there would have been on his third murder. It took another two deaths before the police found him, and they still haven’t found all the bodies. They say the lead investigator only figured it out when he realised how well the guy’s crops were growing. And, you know what the creepy part is? He’s been in prison for decades now but the crops still grow better than everyone else’s.”
“Yeah, well I’m not scared of him. Hell, if he ever got out and tried something, I’d-“
In the darkness, a meow. Haizaki squeaks with surprise and she bursts into giggles as the culprit, her mother’s aged tabby, trots over towards them.
“Says he’s not scared of a serial killer but can’t even face a cat without bursting into tears.”
“Oi, he just caught me by surprise,” he replies gruffly, looking away. “I’d take him in a fight too. Dumb fucking cat.”
She’s still giggling, “what are going you going to do, Mr Big Bad Haizaki? Challenge him to a duel, 1v1 him, organise a boxing match with a cat?”
“You don’t get it. He disrespected me. Disrespected me,” he repeats, stressing each syllable, focused on trying to keep his tone sounding serious, to keep her laughing as long as possible. “As a man, I can’t let this slide.”
The cat is now swatting at mosquitos, rolled over onto his back.
“He doesn’t think you’re a worthy enough opponent. You’ll have to fight the mosquitos before you have the right to challenge him.” She takes a sip of beer and glances at the tens of mosquito bites littering Haizaki’s arms and legs. “And I don’t think you’ll win against them anytime soon.”
“Man, was this why you invited me here? Just to mock me?”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
“And here I thought it was because a cute chick liked me.” Haizaki reaches out to the cat and lets him swipe at the man’s hands “You hear that? I’ve become a laughing stock.”
“No, you weren’t wrong about the cute chick liking you,” she says, and turns her head, and her lips make gentle contact with Haizaki’s cheek.
No one says anything. Haizaki’s heart is going a mile a minute, even though logically he knows it’s just a kiss, really just a peck on the cheek, something that a guy who’s been in as many half-hearted hookups as he has should have long been desensitised to. Yet the intimacy of it panics him, has him blushing like a kid, has him thinking twenty years ahead to days of sitting on this engawa together, maybe with more cats, maybe even with kids, and holding her hand, and watching the sunset, and realising that the feeling of her presence, and shoulder brushing his, will always be far more comforting than any city sounds.
He’s thinking, what the fuck is wrong with you Haizaki Shougo?
And he’s mumbling, because love is still too big and intimidating a concept to profess,
“Do that again.”

💚 🤍 💔 🏳️‍🌈 💀
(Sorry im sending so many 😭 i just really want to hear your opinion on a lot of things)
Long answers so putting them under 'keep reading' for the sake of yall's dashboards.
💚: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
Mmmmm. I'm gonna pick two and cheat cause I have feelings on how both are written.
First, Mipha. Like you and other mutuals, when it comes to Mipha, we all are on the same page of just how bland and weak she is written or seen by others in the fandom.
That her crush on Link gets in the way (it doesn't. Yes she loves him, but her love of him never overtakes her duties). That she only cares about Link (no she cares for all the people in the Domain and Link and is selfless to a fault, one of her intended flaws). That she is not partially adept (her spearmanship is described being a league of her own). It just culminates into all of these weird mix of Mipha becoming a bland side character when she really is not. Yes is some of her canon writing a bit shallow? Absolutely. But that's true for all of the Champions. And yet Urbosa and Revali get more love and deserved writing in the fandom, leaving Mipha and Daruk in the dust.
As for the other character? Garrus Vakarian. I love my boy. I love me one space dino. but PLEASE fandom you all need to course correct how you write him. Garrus is Shepard's best friend, no matter if they are in a relationship or not. Also, Garrus is protective of Shepard, but not overprotective to the point of smothering. Yeah the party shenanigans with him and Zaeed talking about defensive parameters for Shepard is great and funny, but some have him way overprotective of Shepard to the point of getting in her way. Shepard can take care of herself. Garrus knows this. And he steps in only when he knows he should. Also....Garrus isn't as suave as you think he is. All that bravado is to hide his self-depreciation and yall gotta remember that. Temper that badassery with some good old depression and PTSD cause that's Garrus for you.
🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
That's a hard one. Rhoam? Yeah he's a shit father and yeah could he have treated Zelda better? Absolutely. Pretentious to think all the races will drop everything to give their best people, or in the case of Urbosa and Mipha, ruler/heir? No doubt. There's no if and or buts there.
But keep in mind. Hyrule's fate was residing on him. On Zelda's sealing powers. On him excavating the entire regions, finding the divine beasts, organizing the Sheikah with the Guardians, raising an army, diplomatically asking for help from the other races...all while trying to run a kingdom. The stress got to him, and he did what he did because partly he thought he was right, but mostly he was, I feel, nervous and scared. Everything was riding on his and his daughter's success, and he took his frustration out on his failure. Does that make him morally bad? Yeah. But it doesn't make him an outright villain or asshole as everyone likes to dunk on him for.
Rhoam to me is more of an anti-hero. His ultimate end goal is the salvation of Hyrule, but his methods to get there, while noble, are questionable when dealing with people themselves.
💔: If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?
Ganondorf. I'm sorry, I love him, but I actually think his repeated presence in Legend of Zelda severely limits the creativity and storytelling behind the LoZ franchise. I could even throw in the argument of Link and Zelda as well. The one thing I will never forgive SS for was the Curse of Demise. That shit right there? Ruined the series to come. We can no longer get a new BBEG without Ganondorf either being directly or indirectly involved in the story. Like look, I love games that took either a different take on Ganon before the whole Demise curse, or after by distancing it in some way. Look at TP, BoTW, and MM. Zant being controlled by Ganondorf, a Calamity born of his hatred, and no Ganon involved.
Now granted, WW is probably one of my favorite takes on Ganondorf, but that's because he was given a little bit more humanity alongside his evilness. That he is a 'person' and despite that, still evil.
And even still, I would argue, by having Gandondorf as the same villain over and over you are just re-hashing the same story with the same characters, the same old Good vs Evil plot of Hylia vs Demise just in a different era. And while the gameplay may be great for future games,. at some point, there will be a breaking point for the story. ToTk a prime example.
🏳️‍🌈: Which character who is commonly headcanoned as queer doesn't seem queer to you?
Sidon? And yeah I'm gonna toss in Revali there too. I just don't see them as queer. And that's not cause I'm straight either.
I just..I don't know I don't even see Sidon as being romantically involved with anyone (I am still choosing to completely ignore any and all ToTK Canon). And if he is? I don't know who I'd ship him with or who his partner would be? Am I currently in the middle of writing a Sidbazz wip as part of my miphlink modern AU? Yeah. Still, I don't really headcanon him myself as queer. It's a fluid concept for me...whatever fits the story I'm writing best.
As for Revali, I ship him with his own ego.
💀: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
BoTW Zelda. She should have died at the end of BoTW. Here's my reasoning.
She should have died alongside the other Champions. The last relics of the past, leaving an amnesiac Link with barely any memories to make a new life in a land he has come to slowly recognize as the world he lives in now, and not the past. It's how I initially hoped BoTW was going to do. That we encounter Zelda's spirit at the end of the story, her last act to hold the Calamity back in enough time for Link to finish the job.
Now I know Nintendo would never even fathom something like this. Can't kill off your precious Zelda and piss off all the Zelda/Zelink fans. but narratively I think it would have made for a great bittersweet ending. And would have made for a better sequel as well.

For @almost-a-class-act prompts
October 1st - Prompt # 1
Character A tries to convince Character B that it's too early to put the Halloween decorations up OR that it's too early to get the house ready for winter.
Warnings: War time language
Daires of Wartime - Day 1
1 October
Someone had found the frequency of one of the Russian radio stations on the radio. Even though no one could understand a single word, we were listening to nothing but the songs that had been released there recently. The melodies of the songs, the voices of the singers, the way the words were spoken, managed to reach something inside our hearts. Even Toye once said something about Ivan knowing how to make music, with a spent cigarette dangling from his lips. Webster tried to write something about Russian critics, but he gave up when he realized that no one was listening to him.
The same radio station was playing now. One advantage of listening to songs in a language we don't understand is that we can put whatever we want and want to feel into their melodies. We were now starting to recognize some parts. One of my favorites was playing. A slow, romantic -I think- song. I like to think that this song is about two lovers who can't get together. And of course, there are gunshots coming from outside the barn we were sitting in. They are very distant, but in recent months they have become like background music in movies in our lives. The background music of our lives while the scenes are flowing. Ingrid is luckier than us. When he said "Play it, Sam!" she heard Time Goes By. We say "Play, Hans!" and hear the sounds of ceaseless artillery fire.
There's that shadow again. Outside the door, it extends with the light coming from the bare bulb, fading into the darkness and disappearing. I know very well whose shadow you are. Don't I always see him that way, from behind the shadows, through the fog? Who could really look directly at his face? Who did he let? Why does he surround himself with stories that are repeated over and over again, each time adding a new detail? I'd like to know you, Speirs. Lieutenant Speirs, I'd really like to know you. Ron, I want to get to know you.
He's talking to Dick outside. Only Dick walked in, followed by Lewis. But that's it. He did not come. I would like to see him one last time. Even if it's from afar. Quietly. I wonder if he ever thought about me? Is he aware that I exist? I wish I could hunt his October nights. Let him think of me in his bed every night, before falling asleep, just like I think of him. With an ache in his heart but at the same time, with a smile.
Lipton is next to me, reading a letter from his family. There's a funny part where his father and mother argue about decorations to hang. He made me read it too. His mother wants to hang Halloween's decorations already, his father says there is still time. Even though Halloween is foreign to me, I think I have learned more or less what it is. I guess this is what a house is like. A complete home. Maybe if I had a house, people at home would write me letters and what they wrote would be like Lipton's. Small family arguments, daily chores, gossip about neighbors and relatives. Vest would bring me stamped envelopes with pictures of flowers on them. My name would be written on it in my brother's bad handwriting. My mother would write how sorry she was that I was away and that she cried every day. My father would ask about my health. But nope. I don't have such a family, and since I don't have such a family, I have no excuse to buy stamps with pictures of flowers on them.
I put my head on Lipton's shoulder, it's too heavy for me to carry anymore. I will close my eyes and continue listening to his letter.

About his overtime
In a fight, you can both get louder.
Nasty words don’t fall, but one or the other accusation is sometimes there.
If it becomes too much and you notice that the fight goes too far or you are about to say something that can not be taken back afterwards, you say “reset”.
As soon as this word falls, you stop arguing, no matter how bad the argument was, and try to calm down. With or without the others nearby.
“Tetsurou, I have the feeling we live two different lives. People only see me alone because you’ve only been working overtime, so what do we have the relationship for?” you yell at him angrily, punch your little fists against his chest. “You know that we are going through a hard phase right now at work, and that I have to do overtime just so that we can manage everything in time. Also, why would you care what others think about our relationship? We know we are together, that’s enough!” Now Kuroo gets louder, can no longer hear the subject. You’re arguing more and more about his overtime. He understands your frustration, but right now, he can’t change anything. Why can't you understand that? It's not like he's enjoying it.
“A phase, of course, Tetsurou... It’s always a phase. And I don’t care what the others think about us. But right now, I don’t even know if we have a relationship! Honestly it doesn't feel like it anymore!” Your eyes fill with tears, not only because you’re sad to see him so rarely but also because you’re angry. “Reset…” You hear his broken voice. He looks at you with heavy eyes, visibly shocked by your statement that hurt him. Kuroo knows he is currently too little at home. Therefore, he does everything to make you feel that he is thinking of you. In between work, he writes you messages, sends you flowers, funny selfies, and tries to spend the time you have together only with you. Without his mobile phone or stuff like that. But at the moment, his hands are simply tied.
“Reset…” you agree with him, realize that you have overreacted and that you have visibly hurt him. Both of you take one step at the other, take each other in your arms and know that this fight is over, at least for now.
Whether ending a fight with this kind of ‘reset button’ is really a proper way to resolve disputes, you doubt, but for you, it’s something that works. So why should you change it?
After such a fight, you both usually stay like that in each other’s arms for a few minutes. Just keep quiet before you lie down in bed, cuddle and watch a funny series. Like Friends or King of Queens. Something where you can just stop thinking about everything and just laugh.
Together you lie there. You on the side, Kuroo behind you. You’re still looking at the TV, laughing at the scene in front of you. But Kuroo only has eyes for you, for your smile. He's happy he has you. That you're his. And he's counting the days until he can finally finish work on time. When all the stress and tension of both of you falls and you can do more together again.
Kuroo gently strokes your side, sees you blushing and looking at him from the corner of your eye. "I love you, kitten." he says before rubbing his nose against your warm neck. "I love you too, Tetsu."

Misunderstandings in the communication
You two rarely fight. And if only because of miscommunication.
Similar to Kita, Ushijima is never loud in a dispute. You can yell at him, punch him, and he would still remain calm, rather look at you questioningly.
Ushijima notices very late in an argument that you are actually arguing before he asks why you are angry. Usually he does not understand the reason for it.
“Why did you invite her for a coffee, Wakatoshi?” You ask irritated, your tone is angry. So angry that Ushijima should recognize it, but he just looks at you as always with this big question mark on his face. “Well, you told me to invite her…” he replies. “No, Wakatoshi, that was ironic! That was not meant seriously! Why are you always like that? You really think I’d like you to meet someone else who was flirting with you?” you’re so angry, nobody can be that stupid. He does it on purpose. He wants to annoy you, you think. You pass him angrily, but he follows you like a lost puppy.
“Then why didn’t you just say that?”, “Because, ah, forget it!” you scream and want to leave, but Ushijima catches your hand and stops you from leaving. “Are you mad at me? If so, I don’t understand why. I’m not going to this meeting if you don’t want to. I just thought that’s what you wanted, that’s why I said yes.” Ushijima is helpless. Earlier that day, a reporter asked him if he could answer some questions. But since he was with you on the way to a restaurant, he had no time and also no desire for a spontaneous interview. The reporter had then asked him if he wants to answer one or the other questions tomorrow over a coffee, but he had no interest. Actually it was you who said 'oh yes of course, that sounds great to go on a date with the nice lady, Toshi,' so why are you mad? He just said yes because you laughed so pretty.
"It's just... Nevermind. I should have expressed myself more clearly," you whisper, and try to calm down. Your voice was so quiet, Ushijima couldn't hear you but right now you look sad. Still a bit helpless he takes you into a firm embrace, brushing over your hair.
Even if he is not good with words, is not the person who likes to cuddle, or who looks for closeness, you are glad that he is with you right now and that he can calm you down by his hug and his deep breathe tickling your skin. Maybe it’s also his heartbeat that calms you down, but no matter what it is, you feel your anger subside.
You should have known he’d misunderstand your irony. After all, it's always like that. That’s just not his thing. Sighing, you look up at him, just want to open your mouth to apologize, when he looks at you with his usual monotonous look. “I’m sorry if I made you mad. You know, I never wanted that.” He says before you even have a chance to say anything.
After his apology, you usually still look for support in his arms, enjoy the moment with him before you live the everyday life quite normal.
Because even if you were resentful, for Ushijima such an argument with an apology is over and therefore there’s no longer a reason to address it again. If you accept his apology, there is no reason for him to think or talk about the subject.
"I'd like to go jogging now, will you come with me?" He asks you, while putting on a thermal shirt, because it’s still too fresh in the evening. Shaking your head you look into the fridge. "I want to prepared dinner, will you be back in an hour?" you ask and turn around to wait for his answer. "Yes, I guess one hour is fine," he nods and takes you in his arms to give you a short but sweet kiss. "See you later, my love."
Tumblr media
That he’s too lazy in the household
Suna is also not the loud part in an argument. He is rather a listener who has no desire for a discussion or an argument.
Nevertheless, he can also give snappy answers if he thinks it is necessary, but with you, this has never happened.
For Suna quarrels are always exhausting, and mostly so meaningless because he can’t change anything at that moment anyway.
“What’s so hard about doing the laundry? Or to empty the dishwasher and not to simply put the dirty coffee cup on the work surface!” you yell at him and point to the dishes he has placed on the dishwasher, intentionally did not put away the clean dishes in the machine." Nothing," he answers you shrugging, follows your hand pointing at the porcelain. He could really do more. He also knows that. “Then why don’t you?” you ask, arms crossed. “Don’t know… I will change that in the future. Promise.” he answers you, and sits back on the couch to look for news on his social media channel.
“You’re not gonna do that anyway!” you hiss, can only shake your head because Suna goes away in the middle of your argument. “Yes, but now I can’t do anything to show you that I’ll do it in the future, or?” he asks. This time you hear in his voice that he is annoyed. The apartment is clean, just like the laundry… Actually, he can’t do anything right now. But you know very well that his clean-up will be short-lived and you will talk about the subject again in two weeks. Rolling your eyes, you leave the room, have no desire to talk about it unnecessarily, because your argument won’t lead to anything.
The fight between the two of you almost always ends unspoken.
While you’re still angry and offended, Suna pretends everything is the same.
Sometimes you play his ‘game’, because the fight is no longer important to you. But you don’t always do that. If you don't go along with his game, Suna tries to bring you back to a normal mood with some tiny questions about random stuff a few times.
If you ignore him then he just leaves you alone for the day, because he knows that you need it then.
If you’re mad at him until the evening, he cuddles up to you at night, gives you a good-night kiss on the forehead and tells you that he loves you, although he knows you’re just pretending to sleep.
Silently, Suna opens the bedroom door before he silently crawls into bed, taking care not to be too loud. He knows you’re not really sleeping, but if you want to keep being grumpy, you should be mad at him. But that doesn’t apply to him. Carefully he lifts up your blanket, lays down under it and gives you a kiss on the back of the head. "Good night, sleep well and dream of something nice. Love you, princess." he whispers before he pushes his arm under your head and presses you from behind to his chest. The hand on your breast, the other around your waist.
"I love you too.." you answer him quietly, just can’t be angry at Suna. You sense the soft smile of your boyfriend before he presses you even closer to him and fall asleep.

Y’know the “classic children’s literature” canon is largely pretty fucked up.
C.S. Lewis was racist and homophobic and sexist, not to mention Extremely Christian and trying to convert you (seriously, there are exactly 2 books where the bad guys aren’t women or Muslims by another name, and one of those 2 doesn’t even have an antagonist once Eustace gets un-dragoned)
Roald Dahl was notoriously antisemitic and just kind of misogynistic in general. Keeps trying to sell the idea that ugly people are inherently evil and pretty people are inherently good. Also like the Oompa Loompas are a) canonically black in the books and b) slave labor, and this is promoted as positive? Charlie’s dad would’ve had a job if Wonka hadn’t been literally stealing people to avoid paying workers. Also, like, the nerve of leaving a chocolate factory to a random kid who knows nothing about chocolate except it tastes good, when probably at least a dozen of the Oompa Loompas are qualified to run the place. Like, Dahl is great at giving people nightmares, but the inherent assumptions begin the worlds he builds are not something I want to give to a 10-year-old and tell them it’s Great Literature and something to emulate, the way I was. (Also, I was actually 8, come to think of it.)
JKR. Well. Besides the TERFery and racism/antisemitism. There’s just a complete disregard for bodily autonomy that’s so present in her work that it becomes obvious it’s part of how she views the world? Like, it’s supposed to be a funny joke to slip someone a potion that turns them into a canary. Admittedly the delivery of that line was 109% but like. What if he’d got stuck like that? You can’t just transmogrify people like that without asking them. You also shouldn’t do the “muggle” equivalent like putting Nair in someone’s shampoo. That’s assault, Joanie. I think this also feeds into her transphobia, because she just doesn’t seem to have anything that would hold her back from swapping someone’s gender for giggles if she were able to. It’s not just the HP series, either, it’s her works aimed at adults as well. Like, she’d be the type to barge into the bathroom while you’re peeing and then get offended when you’re upset by this because “We’re all girls here.” But oh it’s a modern classic and you have to read it to understand nerd culture…well, you could make that argument 10 years ago but it’s a bit less solid in 2023. I wouldn’t ban a kid from reading it, but I wouldn’t give them a box set. If they brought it home from the library I’d give a quick talk that I’m not mad at them for reading it but they should be aware that the author is a jerk.
Stephanie Meyer: Completely inescapable if you were a tween girl anywhere between 2005 and 2010. You had to plough through 4 doorstoppers of toxic Mormon heterosexuality just to understand what anyone was talking about. Like, I think it should be shelved with a pamphlet about healthy vs unhealthy relationships in it. Also, like, Meyer profited off the names of Native people and didn’t give them a cent. Also Bella you need a vampire like a fish needs a bicycle, just take some vitamin D supplements and you’ll get over him
Again, I’m not saying “don’t read these books.” Many of them are well-written and have historic and sociological and literary value. This post is about how we tell children that these demonstrably bigoted authors, whose bigotry shines through in their writing because they’re too unaware of it to file it down, that these are Great Writers and suitable to emulate. It’s not just that bigotry could be absored by young readers, it’s also that ir build a false foundation that will crumble under literary analysis, creating a life of doubting one’s own word choices, among other problems!

mind giving some more detailed thoughts about "velma"? i saw a pretty unflattering review and some people said it was by a hater so it was biased, but i don't wanna sit through something genuinely terrible. fwiw, i liked "mystery incorporated" for a darker iteration of scooby
Oh definitely. I wanna make it clear first off that literally nothing is wrong with making the cast more diverse. It's a complete nonissue that unfortunately needs to be mentioned to make sure everyone knows I'm not a fucking asshole.
And uh, putting this under a cut because wow I had more words than I thought I would.
Pretty much everything outside of absolutely superficial nonsense is just bad. The writing is the most obvious and most damning for me. The first episode opens with Daphne and her friends in the school locker rooms showering and the literal first conversation is them lampshading how pilot episodes always have more gratuitous nudity and sex than the rest of the show. And it's not a one off joke, it's a whole several minutes long bit where they argue about the pros and cons of it. And after Daphne gets stopped by Velma from drowning her friend in a puddle for disagreeing with her, Velma asks "what about race-blind casting? What do you think about that?" We get an answer from Daphne and then the dead body is found.
And that's about what you'll get from the humor. For some reason I expected better than constant sex jokes, nudity, and bit-sized versions of arguments the creators see on Twitter, but you won't get much else. In the same episode is a pregnant woman being photographed naked with her baby pressing against her stomach enough to see the outline because. Funny. And the rare time a joke ever lands it's followed up by another joke lampshading teen mystery show tropes. It's just not funny.
And aside from that is the atrocious pacing. Absolutely nothing is given any room to breathe, and it always feels like you're being flung wildly from plot point to plot point with no emotional attachment to anything going on. Fred gets introduced, he's racist and misogynistic btw, and literally two scenes later he's telling us his character motivations. Just, states point blank that his deal is trying to be Masculine enough for his dad. And then he leaves. And then we get Velma's backstory with her missing mom. And before we have even the rest of the episode to get invested in her search, it's revealed that her mom just left and there was no mystery.
Like, yeah, maybe it's a bait and switch, but the way information is conveyed in this show is so blunt and without a single hint of artistry or care that it felt like a slap in the face.
None of these characters feel like themselves and none of them are fun to watch. Velma is just kind of mean to everyone all the time, Fred has become White Privilege personified, Daphne is Popular Mean Girl, and Sha-sorry Norville is the sad sack friend that has an unrequited crush played for laughs. Also he hates drugs. Haha.
And I'm not saying you can't do fresh takes on these characters, but imo the things that make them feel like themselves just aren't there. Shaggy isn't a desperate nerd afraid that he's a beta male, he's a chill dude that's loved by his friends and loves to have a good time. And oh god I just realized that we didn't even see Norville eat anything. but anyways, Daphne's character is always at it's best when she's a ditzy rich girl who's surprisingly competent. Like the best humor from her comes from how she's basically Barbie in every sense of the definition. Fred is an ally, fuck you. Like I get you went with the White Privilege stereotype because he's the only blue-eyed blind-haired character, but Fred Jones is a fucking himbo and always will be.
The secondary characters are nothing. Just black holes for bad jokes. The plot is stupid point blank.
And there's Velma's hallucinations that are thought to be conjured from her guilt at her mother's disappearance. But never once are they treated seriously. We get one scene where the horror of it gets built up only to be immediately made into a joke. The scary stuff in this show has no tension. Nothing is ever given proper tension, nothing ever gets lingered on. We see a horrifying image of a viney arm wriggling it's way into Velma's heart and then they make a joke. Velma runs through a horror house made from her own mind only a joke to be made about Norville's feelings for her. Which he has. Velma also has a crush on Fred btw. And despite the obvious end goal of Velma/Daphne, the two have no chemistry between them.
And there's no Scooby Doo. Because apparently that's what makes the franchise a kids show. Sure. Why not?
Just. Don't watch this. If you're a Scooby Doo fan you're not gonna get anything out of it. Go rewatch Mystery Incorporated instead if you want to see these characters treated with respect.

John Lee Clark:
"Since then, though, protest has remained the primary mode. Perhaps it’s because Deaf people’s cultures and languages continue to be marginalized. Protest is a worthy, logical response, but it can also be limiting. Instead of the full range of our realities and imaginations, we get drawn into arguments we did not choose for ourselves. For example, “visual music” and “ASL is beautiful” are the two most common tropes in Deaf poetry, working to counter audist notions of deafness and muteness; meanwhile, in real life, Deaf people are busy cooking, videochatting, texting, dating, raising families, and making transactions, not all of them legal. I realized that I needed to write beyond these arguments, not to leave behind our causes or obscure my identity, but to claim more and more space in which we can just be."
Jim Ferris:
"We. I presume, I claim an “us,” even though there are myriad ways of embodying (and denying) disability, and no two disabled people’s experiences are the same. Disabled people are well schooled, whether impairment is acquired early or late, to identify with and aspire to be as much like nondisabled people as possible.
But if we don’t claim our difference, if we don’t write disability, the normies will keep doing it for us. It is crucial that we don’t keep leaving the field to them, even when we love them. Even when they tell us it’s for our own good."
Jillian Weise: "I like John’s point: “We get drawn into arguments we did not choose for ourselves.” Sometimes I feel like I would rather talk about Kathy Acker. But what does the word “disability” mean? Is it useful to me? Can I get some heat from it? I am reminded of what Borges said to his nephew, “If you behave, I’ll give you permission to think of a bear.” Most often, I think about disability when I am asked to think about it. Then I feel an obligation to behave.
[...]
Yes, there is ableism. One able-bodied writer said to me, “Jillian, do you know why we use disabled speakers?” Do tell, Grandmaster. “Because all writers are outsiders and disabled speakers are the most outsider.” Noted. But I also hear this kind of thing: another writer once wrote to me, “I wish your book was not so dominated by disability poems.” And there’s the trap of ableism: disability is for able-bodied writers to write, because it’s easy for them, and they don’t have to think too hard about it, but disabled writers should stay out of it altogether."
John Lee Clark: "I agree with Jillian. Editors really need to start rejecting that kind of bad poetry. But I’m more concerned about what they do reject as “too niche,” “not a fit,” or simply “not poetic material.” Isn’t that funny? They are happy to publish poems with made-up disabled speakers, but these are mainly by poets who aren’t disabled, or, which is sometimes worse, by poets who are disabled but follow the “script.” You get a very good idea of what’s expected of you when editors ask you, “Why don’t you include something about how hard it is to be deaf?” or, “Why don’t you write about the things you miss seeing?” I get tired of explaining that it isn’t hard to be deaf or that I don’t regret becoming blind."
John Lee Clark:
"There’s something amiss — and missing — in publishing. Thirty million Americans are Deaf or hard of hearing. Add to that twenty-two million for the blind slice of the pie, and millions more for other groups — physical disabilities, different kinds of intelligences, and the rest — and what do we have? Nearly a quarter of the total population? Thanks to the capitalist interests driving the medical industries, that number is always growing, as more and more things are targeted as “abnormal” and in need of treatment. Disability is a major, major realm. But you wouldn’t know it from reading literary magazines or any of the “name” anthologies."
Jim Ferris: "How to change that bias? My best answer is to write the poems that you want and need to read, and keep sending stuff out there. (I’m speaking to myself as much as anyone else here.) Because there are editors and publishers and most importantly readers who are open to our work, who want our work, whether they know it before they see it or not. One of my poems is in part about rejecting messages that disabled people get about changing or at least hiding their nonconforming bodies. I have been repeatedly surprised at how powerfully that poem speaks to others who have heard such messages, particularly breast cancer survivors. I had no idea. What a robust reminder that my job is to make these little paper airplanes as well and as beautifully as I can and then sail them out into the breeze. How far they fly, where they land, what happens after they land — this is none of my business, except as it helps me to make the next airplanes better. My work is to make them and sail them — and then make more."
Jillian Weise: "May I talk about a different swindle? I was told there are speakers of poems and I believed it. When I invented disabled speakers I was told, “Those aren’t speakers. That’s you.” With minority writing, then, you don’t get the privilege of yourself. Self is constructed elsewhere. You are expected to be the speaker and represent the minority. Though, as Jim mentions, we’re not recognized as a minority yet. You are expected to be moral and teach. I think this is why Amiri Baraka wrote “Fuck poems / and they are useful.” Or what Laura Hershey meant by “Everything you say will prove something about / their god, or their economic system.”
I think there are certain kinds of disabled poems that some publishers want: the speaker overcomes disability; the speaker’s friend/relative is disabled or diagnosed; the speaker notices a disabled person on the side of the road. I avoid those poems at all costs."
Jennifer Bartlett: "Editors also may fear the considerations of “disability poetry”; real truths about prejudices and studies on the difficulties of the corporeal. No one wants to read that! It’s too scary. What people want to read in terms of disability is the aspect of how awful and difficult it can be. This leads readers to develop empathy (or her naughty sister pity), which is something they can connect with.
I have a current manuscript that questions and pushes the issue of ableism in a direct way. I’ve had a really hard time getting it published. I often am slow to publish, but sometimes I wonder whether the manuscript has been in limbo for so long due to its content. I try to imagine an able-bodied publisher who will publish a book directly challenging ableism. I do not have an answer."

Hello hello, I'm here for the match-ups!
(for male hunter please!)
I'm 163 cm, have black hair, dark brown eyes, and I'm someone that you can call a gremlin, haha. Although people think I'm not so intimidating with my stature and my strength, I can put up a fight and would not hesitate to struggle or even kick someone's shins if need be. I do end up sometimes being a teensy bit snarky on people I dislike, which some people end up teasing me as being a rabid dog (but it's fine haha).
Aside from that, I actually enjoy drawing and writing— a lot! I'm a huge fan of doing digital pieces and drawing hairstyles, so I usually draw some to see how some of them look. I sometimes do have to look up how anatomy works though, because I don't really... Like posing all that much.
Ahem, other than that, for my personality— I'm really nice to a lot of people, even if some probably saw me at first as a recluse. I enjoy having to be there to help others when they feel down or need someone to vent or to listen to, making me the go-to therapist friend in the friend group. Other than that, I'm knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with conflict and especially with other weird things (mostly with DID/OSDD because of experience and research, anxiety and panic attacks and how to deal with it... That sort of thing) that actually helps me out a lot.
There are some drawbacks to it though, with one being that I'm a lot more stubborn and not as smart as people think. I'm not the type to go down without a fight (as evidence of my first paragraph haha), so I usually push through with my stubbornness unless I'm given a good reason not to. It has landed me in some bad situations, but I've learned my lesson ^^;
I am also honest to a fault and have a bad case of malicious compliance, though in certain issues where I can't resolve conflict, I use what I know and become a... Devil's advocate of sorts. I don't like telling others about it, though, but it's fun seeing people find out about it 🤭
I'm not sure if there's anything else I can say about myself, but I hope this suffices, haha. Anyway, I love your blog, and I hope that this entry didn't break any rules in match ups ^^ happy Valentine's day, admin!
HAPPY LATE (for me, at least) VALENTINES!! 💞💞 and tysm it means a lot <3334
i match you with...
Tumblr media
antonio paganini! 🎻
you're short AND feisty? oh he doesn't even know what he's up against
finds it so funny when you try to kick his kneecaps with your full might nd he just scoops you up with his hair like it's nothing
in general he doesn't take your fight-iness(?) and snarkiness(??) seriously most of the time and it's hilarious to him compared how different you two are - short and fighty, tall and calm
if he's feeling extra evil he's going to wrap his hair around your ankle and hold you upside down in the air (not for too long tho he's not THAT mean) for the giggles
DRAWING HAIRSTYLES⁉️⁉️ you've got yourself the perfect muse
like imagine telling him you need to braid bits of his hair for your next piece and he just gently lays his head onto your lap and his locks of hair softly wrap around you ... heaven
anyways would pose for all of your anatomy studies, he even jokingly asks if he needs to take off his shirt (I MEANNNNNN)
generally speaking he makes up for his (sometimes) lack of physical affection by using his hair - wrapping a strand of it around your arm, waist or even fingers
he's too peaceful to even argue with you, each attempted argument will probably end with "whatever you say, amore. i know you have it figured out anyway. you're smarter than you think, lo sai che? "
sometimes he will argue with you for fun tho yk🧐 he enjoys seeing you pull conclusions and arguments out of thin air
since you often have to be a therapist of some sorts he's going to make sure that it doesn't affect you and that you can blow off some steam - feel free to vent to him too, he's a good listener and always ready to provide you with both emotional support and problem-solving ideas
doesn't like giving you life lessons and educating you whenever you mess up, he's not your dad after all and he fucked up a lot of things in his life too :/ just wants you to go with the flow and take every chance you get, if you ever need any kind of support he's gonna be there for you no matter what

i couldn't get behind the lesbian ending of lok because it felt like an ass-pull for representation after they both went for the same guy earlier, especially with the cattiness between the women before then. i also couldn't get behind kuvira because she was a cop, and because her character existing implied toph slept with a man (and was also a cop), especially when kuvira also went for men, romantically.
more than that, i'm bothered by the shitty plot, especially the way they threw out basically everything important to the world of atla. atla very strongly supported things like harmony with nature and portrayed much of industrialization as a bad thing for the world (due to both the harm it does to humans AND the harm it does to the environment), but the "better world" of lok is steampunk? only about 100 years or so have passed iirc, and the world has become a completely industrialized, westernized, capitalistic place. it's depressing. the destruction of the avatar cycle combining with that really grossed me out.
plot wise, it just felt infinitely less cohesive and controlled than atla. atla felt like it had things to say (many of them based around social justice and environmental justice), and built a strong story around those things without faltering for even a moment. lok felt like a sloppy anime that clumsily tried to forcibly inject social justice talking points into the plot. it's unfortunate because there are a few impressive character designs and concepts, and i would have loved an atla sequel following a female incarnation of the avatar (and actual, solid gay representation would be nice too), but it just failed to be anything actually impressive, imo.
on the downlow, i kind of feel it paved the way for the steven universe era of cartoons, where children's cartoons are heavily marketed to adults (who they rely on for an audience more than the actual kids the show is meant for) using nostalgic references and weirdly inserted social talking points and instances of representation that feel more like the creators are saying "LOOK HOW STUNNING AND BRAVE AND SUBVERSIVE AND PROGRESSIVE WE ARE" rather than actually trying to tell stories, convey messages they feel strongly about, or represent people authentically. i know a lot of right-wing people use that sort of argument in bad faith, but a lot of these pieces of media with gay representation or therapy talk make me feel like i'm a brand or a market audience rather than a normal type of person.

LISTEN ANON LISTEN AUGHHH
Okay! One, you're right! the lebsian ending meant a lot to my coming out development, but i was literally trying to tell people, like, "didn't this shit feel a little rushed?" like, yes they did write to each other and all that and oh, asami said she liked korra's hair (you know, like girls do).
Two, I think you've got Kuvira and Lin mixed up, but your point is no less valid since I completely understand what you're saying. i think the move to turn toph into a cop was supposed to be a funny little "isn't that crazy that the most rebellious member of the group became a cop?" but it's like, yeah, it is crazy. Two point five? If you want to tell me that Toph isn't a lesbian, I might lose some support but I can kind of understand that. To me, Toph is just a tomboy who doesn't like to be restrained. But at the same time, I also don't think that woman is one to just have sex with a cop, have fucking kids, and ugh. Like, I understand they wanted the fun of writing the offspring of a fan favorite, but honestly? Maybe Lin and Suyin should have just been adopted under some strange circumstances because I have never been able to buy that Toph slept with a man. I think that woman cares about herself and helping out when need be.
Three! Kuvira and Lin being straight is another example that another anon said about the writers not being able to fully commit. You know damn well those women aren't straight and you damn sure didn't draw them for the osa gaze. THAT WAS FOR US.

I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS
I'll be honest, I wondered how they would go about portraying the future of this world since something that really drew me to it was the necessity of bending. To be a bender was a true boon in the original series. So much so that an entire city functioned off of it. I thought it was so cool the way the fire nation stole the concept of the hot air balloon and were able to create something arguably better around their bending. Bringing more tech advancements into the mix always felt like it would sort of ruin a little of that magic, and to me, it did. Seeing them driving and stuff, I was kind of flat faced. Like nah, what happened to the cool ass animals they ride on and stuff? It definitely took a little bit of the magic away. There had to have been a better way to push the plot into the future (if you really felt so inclined) without completely turning it over on its head.
plot wise, it just felt infinitely less cohesive and controlled than atla. atla felt like it had things to say (many of them based around social justice and environmental justice), and built a strong story around those things without faltering for even a moment. lok felt like a sloppy anime that clumsily tried to forcibly inject social justice talking points into the plot. it's unfortunate because there are a few impressive character designs and concepts, and i would have loved an atla sequel following a female incarnation of the avatar (and actual, solid gay representation would be nice too), but it just failed to be anything actually impressive, imo.
I stand by the fact that I liked the series, but people often think that means you can't talk crap about it at all, and that's simply not true. But this is. I think what I enjoyed about this continuation was the inclusion of more fight scenes. I liked seeing the different ways people used their bending. I've always loved that. I'm an action gal lmao. Plot wise, tho? I understand your point completely.
on the downlow, i kind of feel it paved the way for the steven universe era of cartoons, where children's cartoons are heavily marketed to adults (who they rely on for an audience more than the actual kids the show is meant for) using nostalgic references and weirdly inserted social talking points and instances of representation that feel more like the creators are saying "LOOK HOW STUNNING AND BRAVE AND SUBVERSIVE AND PROGRESSIVE WE ARE" rather than actually trying to tell stories, convey messages they feel strongly about, or represent people authentically. i know a lot of right-wing people use that sort of argument in bad faith, but a lot of these pieces of media with gay representation or therapy talk make me feel like i'm a brand or a market audience rather than a normal type of person.
Damn, that's true. The only thing I'll say is that I don't even really think it did that either. I can't tell you any lesson I learned or was told through LoK except "gay ok" and I already knew that.
You've got some really dope perspective, anon. <3

i love ddlc+ because it puts even more perspective as to why characters act the way they do in the original game. i especially loved the insight into natsuki and yuri. we just assumed that natsuki was just angry all the time for no reason, right? the fact her father abused her does also explain her abrasive language as thats probably how she's used to being spoken to, but ddlc+ made me realize how she is very rarely malicious deliberately, and the fact that she is genuinely bad with social cues. normally people would think of yuri when it comes to a lack of social awareness, but i'm telling you, they both have it, they just act in different ways.
i love how natsuki and yuri are two sides of the same coin. yuri is bad with social cues and typically responds in embarrassment when she misses them, meanwhile natsuki responds in anger. however, even though they seem so different, their behaviour is actually similar. they both hide true parts of themselves out of self esteem issues, prohibiting themselves from talking about their passions if they come across as "too intense" or "childish". though yuri's most common reaction to rejection is self-blame, at least on the surface, she does show anger occasionally because deep down, she feels like she should have a right to be herself just as much as natsuki does, she just typically defaults to a flight response rather than a fight one.
i think them being so similar is why they tend to bring out the worst in each other. a funny difference between the girls' routes in ddlc is that either natsuki or yuri will suggest writing poems about the same subject to the other, and the other will suspect them of doing it to show off, because they don't trust each other enough to think either of them had pure intentions. when really, they did, they just reached each other in a state where the other is not ready to trust (because the trauma from feeling like their personalities are wrong and should be changed makes trust hard!!) right person, wrong time, even.
i'm sprinkling in some of my own headcanons/theories here but i think natsuki probably has ptsd due to the way she's constantly on high alert to defend herself, she always assumes that she's being personally attacked, and it takes a lot to settle her down, probably because she *does* get attacked at home and it creates a sense of panic in her when she senses that happening in whats supposed to be her safe place. as for yuri, ddlc+ pretty much convinced me that she's on the autism or add spectrum, maybe both. she seems to have rejection sensitive dysphoria along with her missing many social cues and being easily overstimulated.
i used to dislike yuri quite a bit because i found her hypocritical and didn't understand why she was polite one second, then arguing intensely the next. i felt more sympathy for her when i realized that like all humans, she gets overwhelmed having to hold in how she feels and is hyprocritical in her arguments because her emotions run so high that she can't think straight when hurt, it becomes all about how she feels because selfishness is a mechanism to protect herself from pain. with how uncomfortable she gets being referred to as "the smartest" she probably feels like the club has an expectation of her which she is afraid to break, so she conforms until she can't take it and lashes out when provoked.
natsuki and yuri's arguments are literally just them riling each other up without realizing because they're both thinking "i'm literally just being myself what is your problem" when really they've been hurting each other on a personal level without even knowing how personal their insults are, because to them, t's just their opinions, and they are bad at expressing them carefully.
anyway i love these silly sweeties who don't know how to communicate

TW: Villainy, abuse mentioned
I often wonder if I should give my villainous OCs a legitimate reason to be bad
Then I figured that even if they have a trauma free life, they can still become a horrible individual
I feel like the "psychological traumas are the only legit reason to be bad" argument doesn't always fit the context
Would the fucked up mentalities matter when they affect others? It's like saying "you can't hurt someone just becuz you were hurt before"
Plus why should the inflicted party accept the offender's pains and traumas as a reason why they should endure the pain inflicted on them bcuz it's the right thing to do? That you'll be rewarded if you just put up with the pain and agony from the offender? That one is legit to hurt others becuz they have been hurt by someone before? That's like abuser 101
An individual can be bad without any legit reason at all, like there's no definitive answer on why someone is a terrible one
I feel that an individual is evil,is vile,is terrible is simply because they choose to be that way and we should accept that
Like I get it,evil people hurt others because they had been hurt before, but really you ain't the victim if you're the one with the knife and a dead body
I think what makes a good villain is that you'll eventually stop feeling sorry for them the moment they prove themself irredeemable
Seriously I feel like "the abusers are victims as well" mentality is worse than an irredeemable villain, why?
That mentality means the victim's pain will be invalidated in favour for their abuser and that they aren't doing good enough at being a literal living punching bag It has been a problem lately in the writing of my fave genre books
I mean there are those out there who believe you should forgive someone for hurting you just bcuz they had it worse than you,the victimisation of bullcraps never ends
At the least,an irredeemable villain accepts they're terrible and they won't deny it,a hypocrite would act like they did nothing wrong and even then they would still be bad at that
I understand what you mean, like it’s funny to me how ppl’s interests in what they want in a villain has somewhat changed with time passing. First, we loved redemption, but now we admit that a villain just being horrible for their own sake is more amusing to watch and better to hate on.
I know either type of villain has their own place in certain narratives tho, so I’m usually just expecting whatever when a villain is introduced, since the creators can often throw curveballs 😭😭
It’s totally up to you how you want to shape your characters. Any path they take is believable for a villain, because other previous media has already shown villains can do or be anything. Also, you can easily provide context behind your decisions if need be. I hope you’re able to work out what you want for your story 🙏🏼💖💖
