————————————————————————
Happiness is a fickle creature. A constant companion to some, hides herself entirely from others. She’s been an elusive creature to you. You don’t particularly remember the last time happiness had visited you, it had been so long since she’d hidden herself away, you barely remember what she looks like.
Nevertheless you feel yourself still seeking her out, even if you’re wholly against putting yourself into situations that are good for you. Why would you when you don’t deserve for her to find you. Maybe she never will and maybe that’s all you’re worthy of.
The distress and utter despair you always feel are now numbing agents to you. It feels like a heavy weight on your shoulders weighing you down so intensely but you should be used to it by now. It’s been years. You’ll be celebrating the ten year anniversary soon.
Ten years since you had parents. Over ten years since the world went to shit. Years of being thrown around the foster system, never settling in one place, not belonging anywhere, never feeling wanted. The people who took you in just wanted the money that came with you.
You tried your hardest despite being moved around constantly and being part of shitty families, to study your best. To get good grades and have good attendance. You could say you threw yourself into your school work so one day you’d be smart enough to leave wherever you were.
The bullies certainly liked to choose you as their target, and despite some teacher’s best interests, the bullies always got to you.
Even when you graduated and went to university, you were still bullied, though again you worked hard and kept to yourself.
You graduated university and got the first job that was offered to you, an assistant editor at the best publishing company there was; Panda. Your job kept you busy and allowed you to not only support the publisher but also the commissioning editor with development and delivery of a manuscript.
You also worked closely with authors and editors, supporting the editor with admin help and coordinating with other departments such as sales and production. With reading all the manuscripts, it allowed you to fall into the worlds authors had made. It let you take your mind off of the reality you faced.
So wrapped in your self loathing and hatred you almost missed the alarm telling you to ‘wake up’ though you’d been awake for hours. Insomnia really is a bitch. You were slow getting up and ready, but your early alarm prepared for that. The kitchen floor was freezing against your feet, you practically ran to get your glass of water and anxiety medication.
Taking your time you grabbed your outfit for the day, a black Solid Cable Knit Sweater Vest With a white Blouse underneath, and black slacks to match. Removing your house slippers, you pulled on your ankle socks and slipped your feet into a pair of black loafers. A little gold chain across the tops of the shoes, easily matching the gold chain bracelet you wore.
Not bothering with a jacket, you simply grabbed your bag and the manuscript you finished before leaving your little apartment.
On your walk to work you passed cute bakery’s with mouth watering smells emanating from them. If only you had the time and money to get a sweet baked good, they all looked so delicious.
A frown slipped onto your face as you approached Jujusu Incorporated Headquarters, the tallest building in the city, the biggest being The Jujutsu incorporated training compound. The Ôgami brothers really have done so much for, not only the country but also the world.
Too bad they weren’t around when all this werewolf mess started. It would have stopped your tragedy. You stared up at the massive sky scraper, no expression on your face, it stayed that way even after you walked away.
In said building, Sukuna relaxed back into the black swivel chair, his body tired and in desperate need of rest. He was reaching close to his limit, he would soon pass out from exhaustion he knew that much. Being more than a little irritable and moody, it was like Christmas Day when his easy to wind up brother walked into Kento’s office.
“Saw you on tv pisshead, you have fun?” Sukuna taunts his older brother with a dirty grin plastered on his face, one of his sharp eyebrows arched. Satoru sighs glancing at the face Sukuna was making, it grated on him, causing an itch to settle in his nerves. Gritting his teeth to do his best not to show the younger that he was affected.
“It was riveting.” Satoru spat running a hand through his white hair as he walked further into the big office, “Don’t be jealous Sukuna. I know you don’t like the spotlight but I love it. I’d appreciate you putting aside the competitive little narcissist that rages within you and letting me savour it.” Satoru had a grin of his own now, knowing he hit a nerve too.
Sukana growled deep within his chest, the noise causing Satoru to challenge him with a growl of his own. “Enough brothers.” Kento scoffs at the display of childish behaviour, “Satoru, the public is pleased with our imagine because of you. You should be proud of your achievements.”
“Thank you Kento.” Satoru nodded his head toward the pack Alpha, the sides of his lips curving up in the tiniest of smiles.
“Kiss ass.” Sukuna scoffed with a roll of his sharp red eyes. Kento shot him a small glare, being pack Alpha had its perks. Each of his brothers had to obey him, nothing to do with being the eldest to. Kento was simply born pack Alpha, his personality traits were that of a pack Alpha and his scent reeked of his leadership.
“Let’s wait for the rest of the pack before we start with the kiss ass comments, Yuji isn’t even here yet.” Satoru joked, a smirk playing on his lips causing his brothers to smirk in turn. Almost as if he knew, Yuji, Kenjaku and Suguru walked through the large double doors.
Kento pulled off his armless glasses dropping them on the desk, “So now that we’re all here, we can begin our weekly meeting.”
“Saw you on tv-“
“Shut up Kenjaku.” Kento cut Kenjaku off.
“Already said it.” Sukuna laughed his head thrown back at the similarity between his brother and him. You’d think that Sukuna and Yuji, and Suguru and Kenjaku would be the most similar due to being sets of twins however they could not be less alike.
“Let’s just get started so we can get on with our days yes?” It was rhetorical, “great.” Kento answered himself, joining his brothers as they all took their seats at the table. He went over, press statements about the company. New Alphas that are one route to be transferred. Alphas that are graduating their training. And an upcoming interview at Panda.
“Don’t they publish books?” Suguru questions looking down at the list of things Kento was reading out.
“They’re branching out, wanting to get involved with the news and since the owner of the company is a close friend of mine, I’ve agreed for one of us to do an interview.” At this Satoru looked up his bright blue eyes harshened by a frown.
“One of us? But that’s my job.” He squeezed his hands together.
“Yes but you’ve spent the past two months travelling for publicity and away from your pack as well as your home. You will be resting for two weeks, remember strain on yourself…”
“Puts strain on the pack.” The entire pack spoke the last sentence, all of them nodding in agreement.
“Fine then who’s it going to be?”
-
You’d arrived to work on time and after fifteen minutes of being there, you wished you’d called in sick. The whole building was going crazy, people running from one place to another. You felt severely overwhelmed and overstimulated, it was taking a second for your brain to comprehend everything. Usually work was slow, a few meetings that were a slightly faster pace, but all in all work was slow.
This right now was crazy. That was the only word you could use for it. Then it got worse.
“I need you to do an interview.” Mr. Panda, your boss, didn’t ask but demanded. You knew you didn’t really have much say but a small part of you wanted to argue against it, that wasn’t your job. You nodded anyway taking the list of questions he had handed you.
You watched him walk away with a sick feeling clawing its way up your throat, it burned and tasted of chemicals. Maybe you should’ve had breakfast this morning before you took your meds. Anxiety swirls around your head and in turn has your stomach flipping, your feet are moving and before you can process you’re over the toilet dry heaving.
A tiny bit of sick comes out, your face scrunches up with the horrible taste. You pant hard as you come to terms with what’s happened, your body shaking while you try to calm your mind. Tears threaten to spill onto your cheeks, you try to control your shuddering breath. Picking yourself up and dusting yourself off, you flush the toilet and head to the sink to wash your hands and mouth out.
Staring at your reflection in the mirror, you notice how dark the bags are under your eyes, how small and frail you look, how lifeless your eyes look. You are the perfect representation of how dead you feel inside.
As if your brain picked the most unimportant thing to worry about instead of being critical of yourself, you realised you didn’t have the interview questions with you anymore. Sighing you left the bathroom and went back to the main office area.
You spot them on the floor, thank goodness they’re still there, you think as you make your way over to them only for someone to grab them first. Irritation settles in your bones, you huff annoyed before looking up at the thief who stole your interview questions, more like the thief who took your breath away.
Your heartbeat was pounding in your chest, so loud that was all you could hear. Your cheeks were tinted pink and you felt flustered the longer the man in front of you stared down at you with his piercing red eyes. His lips were slightly parted, pink hair messy and he. was. big. You felt so tiny with the way he towered over you, your omega for the first time in ten years let you know of her existence with a deep purr.
It had his wolf purring too. Sukuna prided himself on control. Control over his body, mind and wolf. Yet one simple look at you and he felt his control slipping out of his possession. His wolf snarled inside him, the usually peaceful barrier between the beast and man already breaking. His wolf desperate to get out, mark you as his. Claim you.
“Ah I see you two have already met.” Mr.Panda comes over with a smile, “It’s good to see you Sukuna. This is the woman who’s going to interview you.”
Sukuna hadn’t taken his eyes off of you for a second even when you looked at your boss while he spoke. Mr.Panda introduced you to each other, hearing your name, Sukuna did everything in his power to stop his eyes from rolling back into his skull, instead the rubies moved down your body.
You were truly beautiful, his wolf wanting nothing more but to sink his teeth into your delicious thighs. Your luscious, sweet chocolate scent made him want to devour you mind, body, and soul. He knew immediately, by your scent that you were his mate.
The interview was intense, he never looked away from you. He was always studying something, your eyes, your thighs, your figure, everything. It made you squirm in your seat, it had you uncomfortable and self conscious yet you felt adored at the same time. It was a confusing new feeling to you, it made you wonder where it had come from.
You stumbled over every question, your hands shook as you wrote down his answers. You weren’t scared just so incredibly nervous, no one had ever made you feel this way before. Sukuna asked you if you had anymore questions, all you longed to ask was if his heart was beating as fast as yours but you were too afraid to hear the answer.
“N-No I don’t,” You stuttered, “that was the last one.” You looked relieved but he looked disappointed. Quickly you stood, bowed to him and rushed out of the room, you were basically jogging to get back to your office when you felt a strong hand on your shoulder spin you around, he pulled you in close, you began to tremble all over. You felt his warm breath against your lips, red eyes staring at yours intensely.
“T-This is highly inappropriate.” You tried to look anywhere but his beautiful eyes as he spoke.
“Maybe for regular people.” He nodded in agreement, then his voice took on a deeper octave, “But certainly not for my mate.”

Note to Psych acolytes: Don’t take the messaging on next week’s Blu-ray release literally.
Despite Universal touting its upcoming Psych boxed set — which includes all eight seasons of the James Roday Rodriguez-Dule Hill farce as well as the three revival pics — as the franchise’s “complete” library, a Peacock source tells TVLine that discussions are continuing to bring Shawn and Gus back for a fourth movie adventure.
Over the summer, Rodriguez told TVLine that “there are flickers of light” surrounding a follow-up to 2021’s Psych 3: This Is Gus, revealing that a fourth film was tentatively scheduled to go into production last year.
“The only reason that Psych 4 didn’t happen last year was scheduling,” explained Rodriguez, who in addition to his starring role also co-wrote all three movies with Psych creator Steve Franks. “It was all lined up, and we would’ve made an announcement, but then we just couldn’t pull it together in time with everybody going off to do [other projects]. So, now we just kind of have to regroup, wait for Peacock to decide that they want to pay for it again, and hopefully we’ll be good.”
Rodriguez — who earlier this year wrapped a five-season, 87-episode run on ABC’s A Million Little Things — also confirmed that the Psych 4 “script is done. And I think [it’s] pretty fun.”
Psych: The Movie premiered in December 2017 on the series’ original cable home, USA Network, while Psych 2: Lassie Come Home (which followed in July 2020) and Psych 3: This Is Gus (which arrived in November 2021) were both Peacock originals.

WHEN BLACK-MEN RULED THE WORLD
Some Things You Did Not Know About the Moors of Spain
1. The Spanish occupation by the Moors began in 711 AD when an African army, under their leader Tariq ibn-Ziyad, crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from northern Africa and invaded the Iberian peninsula ‘Andalus’.
2. A European scholar sympathetic to the Spaniards remembered the conquest in this way:
a. The reins of the Moors horses were as fire, their faces black as pitch, their eyes shone like burning candles, their horses were swift as leopards and the riders fiercer than a wolf in a sheepfold at night . . . The noble Goths [the German rulers of Spain to whom Roderick belonged] were broken in an hour, quicker than tongue can tell. Oh luckless Spain!
Quoted in Edward Scobie, The Moors and Portugal’s Global Expansion, in Golden Age of the Moor, ed Ivan Van Sertima, US, Transaction Publishers, 1992, p.336
3. The Moors, who ruled Spain for 800 years, introduced new scientific techniques to Europe, such as an astrolabe, a device for measuring the position of the stars and planets. Scientific progress in Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and Philosophy flourished in Moorish Spain.
4. Basil Davidson, one of the most noted historians recognized and declared that there were no lands at that time (the eighth century) “more admired by its neighbours, or more comfortable to live in, than a rich African civilization which took shape in Spain”
5. At its height, Córdova, the heart of Moorish territory in Spain, was the most modern city in Europe and the world. The streets were well-paved, with raised sidewalks for pedestrians. During the night, ten miles of streets were well illuminated by lamps. This was hundreds of years before there was a paved street in Paris or a street lamp in London. Cordova had 900 public baths – we are told that a poor Moor would go without bread rather than soap while the then
Queen of England never had a bath!
6. The Great Mosque of Córdoba (La Mezquita) is still one of the architectural wonders of the world in spite of later Spanish disfigurements. Its low scarlet and gold roof, supported by 1,000 columns of marble, jasper and and porphyry, was lit by thousands of brass and silver lamps which burned perfumed oil.
7. Education was universal in Moorish Spain, available to all, while in Christian Europe more than ninety-nine percent of the population were illiterate, and even kings could neither read nor write. At that time, Europe had only two universities copied from Spain, the Moors had seventeen great Universities! These were located in Almeria, Cordova, Granada, Juen, Malaga, Seville, and Toledo in which the majority of the lecturers were women.
8. In the tenth and eleventh centuries, public libraries in Europe were non-existent, while Moorish Spain could boast of more than seventy, of which the one in Cordova housed six hundred thousand manuscripts.
9. Over 4,000 Arabic words and Arabic-derived phrases have been absorbed into the Spanish language. Words beginning with “al,” for example, are derived from Arabic. Arabic words such as algebra, alcohol, chemistry, nadir, alkaline, and cipher entered the language. Even words such as checkmate, influenza, typhoon, orange, and cable can be traced back to Arabic origins.
10. The most significant Moorish musician was known as Ziryab, the Blackbird who arrived in Spain in 822. The Moors introduced earliest versions of several instruments, including the Lute or el oud, the guitar or kithara and the Lyre. Ziryab changed the style of eating by breaking meals into separate courses beginning with soup and ending with desserts.
11. The Moors introduced paper to Europe and Arabic numerals, which replaced the clumsy Roman system.
12. The Moors introduced many new crops including the orange, lemon, peach, apricot, fig, sugar cane, dates, ginger and pomegranate as well as saffron, sugar cane, cotton, silk and rice which remain some of Spain’s main products today.
13. The Moorish rulers lived in sumptuous palaces, while the monarchs of Germany, France, and England dwelt in big barns, with no windows and no chimneys, and with only a hole in the roof for the exit of smoke. One such Moorish palace ‘Alhambra’ (literally “the red one”) in Granada is one of Spain’s architectural masterpieces. Alhambra was the seat of Muslim rulers from the 13th century to the end of the 15th century. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
14. It was through Africa that the new knowledge of China, India, and Arabia reached Europe. The Moors brought the Compass from China into Europe.
15. The Moors ruled and occupied Lisbon in Portugal (named “Lashbuna” by the Moors) and the rest of the country until well into the twelfth century. They were finally defeated and driven out by the forces of King Alfonso Henriques. The scene of this battle was the ‘Castle of St. George.’
Beginning in the 12th century and continuing for hundreds of years, the Inquisition was infamous for the severity of its tortures and its persecution of Jews and Muslims. Its worst manifestation was in Spain, where the Spanish Inquisition was a dominant force for more than 200 years, resulting in some 32,000 executions.

Okay, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while but kept getting derailed. Thankfully I’m fully caught up on Rise (though it took me forever) and I was able to mostly sort out the in-universe order for the episodes.
Because fun fact-- something I noticed way back in season 1-- is that the episodes weren’t released in in-universe order. This was true on cable, this has held true on netflix and hbo-max paramount+ (I goofed, oops), and while [turtlepedia] does have them listed in tv broadcast order and has the episode production codes listed, neither of those entirely match up with the various in-episode context clues for what order things happen in.
And believe me, some of those context clues, those in-episode “signposts” are subtle enough to be blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details (like the fact that the background video for Donnie and Mikey in Hypno! Part Deux! implies that it’s happening at the same time as Repomantis). Needless to say it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of paying attention. And thankfully season 2 wasn’t as all over the place (mainly due to more of the episodes not having any distinct signposts beyond things that made it obvious they took place after season 1).
(I’ve done my best to get it as nailed down as possible. Episodes that occur at the same time are listed on the same bulletpoint in recommended watching order.)
So good news if you’re like me and you’d like to watch the episodes in in-universe order, because this is that list!
Without further ado, I give you:
The In-Universe Rise Episode Timeline
Season 1:
Mystic Mayhem
Origami Tsunami
Donnie’s Gifts
Smart Lair
War And Pizza
Newsworthy
Repomantis & Hypno! Part Deux!
Down With The Sickness (Due to not really having any more than one possible signpost, this one could take place either before or after the previous point or The Purple Jacket. I don’t think it’s any later than that, but it’s debatable.)
The Purple Jacket
Minotaur Maze
The Longest Fight
The Fast And The Furriest
Stuck On You
Hot Soup: The Game
Mascot Melee
The Gumbus
Shell In A Cell
Pizza Pit
Bug Busters
Mrs. Cuddles (Like Down With The Sickness this one has very few signposts, only two that I spotted and one of those is debatable, but it does take place sometime after The Fast And The Furriest.)
Al Be Back
The Evil League of Mutants
Late Fee
Bullhop
Portal Jacked!
Mind Meld
Nothing But Truffle
Warren And Hypno, Sitting In A Tree
Shadow Of Evil
You Got Served
Operation: Normal
The Mutant Menace
Sparring Partner (This is another one where the placement isn’t entirely certain, but it is after Origami Tsunami, The Fast and the Furriest, and Shadow of Evil.)
How To Make Enemies And Bend People To Your Will
Mystic Library (This is another one where there aren’t enough signposts to be sure where this one belongs exactly, but this was my best guess.)
The Purple Game
Jupiter Jim Ahoy!
Cloak and Swaggert
Man Vs. Sewer
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man
One Man’s Junk
Snow Day (Yet another one where the time placement isn’t certain and this is my best guess, though it does take place sometime after Late Fee and possibly Jupiter Jim Ahoy!)
Insane in the Mama Train
End Game
Season 2
Many Unhappy Returns
Todd Scouts
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles
Flushed But Never Forgotten
Lair Games
Breaking Purple
Repairin’ the Baron
Air Turtle
Pizza Puffs
Sidekick Ahoy!
The Hidden City Job
Always Be Brownies
Mystery Meat
Donnie vs. Witch-Town, Raph’s Ride-Along, Hidden City’s Most Wanted, Bad Hair Day
Fists of Furry
The Clothes Don’t Make the Turtle
Battle Nexus: New York
Finale Part 1: E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Finale Part 2: Shreddy or Not
Finale Part 3: Anatawa Hitorijanai
Finale Part 4: Rise
Rise of the TMNT, the movie
Go forth and enjoy!
(And if anyone wants my rationalization on any of this, just hit me up and I can go in detail.)

Writer’s Strike 2023
Seen a lot of people with questions but haven’t seen a easily understandable post so:
What is the strike?
The Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) is the union of writers throughout the entertainment industry. This covers TV, film, talk shows and more. They are striking after they tried to negotiate their working terms with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), and could not come to an agreement by the deadline. The AMPTP includes the major television and film studios - Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Universal, Fox, Sony, Amazon, Apple and more.
The strike began on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
What is WGA asking for in negotiations?
The WGA went into negotiations with a reasonable proposal, largely asking for a deal that took into account the shift from basic cable (for ex: the shows that run on your TV if you have a cable package) to streaming. When cable TV was booming (pre-streaming), writers earned residuals off the episodes airing. Even as projects shifted to be available on streaming, they were still airing on cable TV and writers earned residuals.
The shift of the past couple of years has seen a boom of projects solely for streaming. With no contract terms of what happens in that case, writers profits have dropped considerably, making their wages below a living wage. Many writers are referring as it’s turned into a “gig economy” rather than writing as a job. They compare it to Uber where studios want to pay them for the script, but not for anything that comes after, even though the industry is entire dependent on their craft. Studios are no longer valuing the art of the writing and only concerned with the profits.
They are also asking for negotiations regarding AI regulation and improved working conditions.
Why did they not come to an agreement?
Despite the WGA offering many amended proposals, the AMPTP refused to budge on the main points. There was slight concessions for lesser points, but the main issues at hand they did not budge on. There is a set deadline to reach terms by and since they did not reach it by the deadline, they are striking.
How does the strike affect writers?
The strike means no WGA members can work in a writing capacity until a new agreement is reached and the strike ends. This is why you will see productions coming to a halt, as the writers have stopped writing.
You might see films continue production (filming). It’s more common for films to have their scripts finalized ahead of production beginning. Since they do not need an active writer at that point, they can continue. Some shows that are scripted in a way that they’re all turned in ahead of time are similarly able to continue. Shows that have writers on set, or where they are writing throughout the season, are halting production. More will have to stop the longer the strike lasts.
Writers are paid based on work. When they don’t work, they don’t get paid. They are willingly choosing to strike and fight for this, because it’s that bad. It’s also important to keep in mind the industry is still recovering for writers since COVID, when all productions shut down and many of them were just now being able to find work again.
What would the monetary affect on the studios be if they agreed to WGA’s terms?
It’s estimated that in many cases the increase WGA is asking for would be less than 2% of the total profits of the project.
How long will it go on for/how does it end?
The WGA is willing to strike as long as it takes. The AMPTP has the ball in their court. The WGA is ready to get back to negotiations when they are.
2007/2008 was the last Writers Strike. It lasted 100 days.
How did they decide to strike?
All WGA members get to vote on whether or not they strike if negotiations are not reached. 98% voted in favor of authorizing a strike. After not reaching negotiations, the WGA board unanimously voted to strike.
How do non-industry people avoid crossing the picket line?
At the time of writing (May 4, 2023) the WGA has not asked for any regular, non-industry viewers to boycott any projects or studios. You can keep streaming and consuming as you wish.
The WGA will post widely if that changes and you should withhold from streaming certain things. These things are changing very rapidly.
How can we support the strike?
If you are based in LA or NYC, or anywhere there are physical protests happening, you can join them. You do not have to be a WGA member to help picket. As always with a group you are not a part of, be respectful and follow the instructions of the leaders on the ground.
Follow the WGA for updates and help spread the word about the strike and encourage others to support the strike.
It’s much more nuanced and would take ages to explain every tiny detail. But it boils down to: writers are the backbone of the entertainment industry and the entire industry relies on their work. Please support them in asking for fair and equal compensation and rights.

Alright, update on the tablet situation, I do NOT have good news but there are some silver linings.
First off, thank you all so much for your patience. That one week I took off to relax seemed to be an invitation for the universe to fuck with my shit because my tablet literally chose the worst time to get on my nerves ( This is totally not something I'm gonna bring up with my therapist as proof that I'm not allowed to rest /s) I've tried just about everything to get it working again, I got a replacement 3-in-1 cable and even that didn't do anything, so I've ordered in a new pen, but that's not due to show up for another week or two.
However, I do not want to wait a week or two on the off chance that a new pen even solves the problem.
So the GOOD NEWS in all this is that I do still have my iPad. It wasn't setup with Clip Studio Paint because I own a perpetual license for my PC, but seeing as how now I can't use it on my PC (at least not with my tablet pen) I've gone ahead and setup the mobile version on my tablet, thankfully I got a discount because I already own a perpetual license but it's still gonna cost me $10/month so that's yet another subscription to slap on the 'ole credit card.
Now that does mean I have to go through the painstaking efforts of moving everything from my PC onto my tablet, but thankfully that issue is easily solved with cloud backups and transferring. Really all I need to be able to do is draw, I can still do speech bubbles and text input and texture overlays and all that post-production stuff on my PC, but anything that requires actual drawing I'm gonna be using my iPad for. So please, don't mind if you notice some weird little art differences between Episode 30 and 29, I'm adjusting to a new workflow! It shouldn't be too bad because I'll still be using the exact same brushes and textures and all that fun stuff that I do on my PC, it just comes with the adjustment of drawing primarily on iPad, which I don't normally do (I usually only draw on my iPad for tattooing and that's in Procreate which I still suck at using outside of lineart LMAO)
This is a very stressful situation that I'm hoping will only be temporary until I get that new tablet pen, and if THAT doesn't solve the issue, then I'm gonna have to start shopping for a new tablet entirely, and that's not something I can do immediately because I'm already starting to struggle financially due to the slow season creeping in at work and I'm still paying off that new PC I put down on layaway (which I'm regretting already). All that said, if you want to help a pal out, please consider tossing a dollar or two at me on my Ko-Fi, it's all gonna go towards a new drawing tablet if I need it (and if the pen solves the issue, then you'll be helping me stay afloat so I can keep bringing you guys the good shit LOL)
What's wild is that in all my Google searching, I found a thread from two months ago with literally the EXACT same issue, under the exact same conditions, in which OP's tablet pen unexpectedly stopped registering with their Huion Kamvas 22 Plus that they had owned for two years. According to them, it did start working again, after resetting the PC and re-installing the driver over and over again, but I've already done that myself a ton of times and I'm tired of being let down and that doesn't seem like a "real" solution beyond luck, so I'm gonna take a break from doing that while I get my iPad set up. I have the sneaking suspicion this might have to do with some recent Windows updates that just rolled out, my PC had definitely gone through a couple leading up to the malfunction. This wouldn't be the first time Microsoft has fucked with my tablet functionality so I literally wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that. Either that, or the '2' in Kamvas 22 stands for "will only last for 2 years before stopping entirely" LOL
Anyways, that's all for now. Thank you all so much for your patience and understanding through all this. While I don't want to have to reduce the quality or frequency of what I put out for you guys due to technical issues, I also don't want the comic to stop entirely, so if this turns into one of those desperate situations where I'm delivering you guys episodes of Rekindled drawn on a Nintendo DS, so be it. I'm not gonna let this beat me.

November 15, 2023
By Jonathan Mahler, James B. Stewart, and Benjamin Mullin
(The New York Times Magazine) — It was April 2022, and David Zaslav had just closed the deal of a lifetime. From the helm of his relatively small and unglamorous cable company, Discovery, he had taken control of a sprawling entertainment conglomerate that included perhaps the most storied movie studio on the planet, Warner Brothers. The longtime New Yorker had always loved movies, and against the advice of several media peers, he had moved to Hollywood and taken over Jack Warner’s historic office, hauling the old mogul’s desk out of storage and topping it off with an old-time handset telephone. So far things were going great. He had met all the stars and players, was widely feted as the next in line to save the eternally struggling industry and was well into the process of renovating a landmark house in Beverly Hills. “You’re the dog that caught the bus,” the billionaire octogenarian cable pioneer John Malone, one of Discovery’s largest shareholders, told him. All he needed to do now was pay back the $56 billion in debt that he piled onto the new company to make the deal happen.
Money is never just lying around Hollywood, and the town was still reeling from the pandemic. But that was OK. Zaslav had set a “synergy target” — cost cuts, essentially — of $3 billion in the next two years, and now, with the clock ticking, he got to work. To help, he had brought along his chief financial officer from Discovery, an amateur pilot and former McKinsey consultant named Gunnar Wiedenfels. As spring turned to summer, they laid off hundreds of workers, shuttered or reorganized divisions and suspended or canceled hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of programming. Anything we don’t think is awesome, Zaslav told executives, stop production right now. Turn the cameras off.
Cuts are the norm after a merger, but Zaslav and Wiedenfels were pushing things hard, and in sometimes unorthodox directions. By shelving several nearly completed projects — including the animated, direct-to-streaming movie “Scoob!: Holiday Haunt,” and the fourth season of the postapocalyptic TV series “Snowpiercer” — they saved millions in postproduction and marketing costs, as well as residuals down the line, and they locked in hefty tax breaks up front. Like so much of what happened in Hollywood, all this was reminiscent of a Hollywood production — in this case, the beloved 1967 Mel Brooks comedy “The Producers.” There, the producers, Max Bialystock and Leopold Bloom, realized that under the right circumstances, a producer could make more money with a flop than a hit. For Zaslav and Wiedenfels, the money would come from making sure that no one would get to see the shows in the first place.
Then they came for “Batgirl.” The big-ticket streaming project had just finished filming in Scotland when Zaslav took over, and he and Wiedenfels had immediately identified it as a target — a “free ball,” as Zaslav described it to several colleagues. The audience test scores for a very early cut were not encouraging. Still, a number of executives warned him not to shelve it. “Batgirl” was a $90 million entry in a multibillion-dollar universe of movies and television shows based on DC Comics. Michael Keaton was reprising his role as Batman, and sequels were already in the works. Plenty of movies had tested poorly but still earned millions. Killing an all-but-completed movie would alienate the people Zaslav — or at least Hollywood — needed most: the people who made the movies. It was to no avail. On Aug. 2, the word came down: “Batgirl” was dead.
As predicted, the backlash was immediate and emotional. Stunned, the film’s up-and-coming directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, tried to look at their footage, but their access to the production server was denied. The head of the DC unit, Walter Hamada, who was not consulted on the decision, asked to be released from his contract and would leave before the end of the year. Courtenay Valenti, one of the most respected development executives at Warner Brothers, was equally devastated and would be gone in a matter of weeks, ending a 33-year run at the studio. The news dominated the Hollywood trades for days. Under fire, Zaslav defended the decision in an earnings call with analysts, saying he shelved “Batgirl” to protect the DC brand. More quietly, Zaslav also sought cover in the authority of Bryan Lourd, the powerful co-chairman of Creative Artists Agency and a leading arbiter of Hollywood mores. As Zaslav told it to several associates, Lourd had supported the decision, observing that it wasn’t in the interest of C.A.A. clients, like the film’s star, Leslie Grace, to be associated with a bad movie. But a C.A.A. spokeswoman denied that. “Bryan Lourd was not consulted in advance of the studio’s move to cancel ‘Batgirl,’” she said.
At Discovery, producers referred to having their budgets slashed as “getting Gunnared,” and Wiedenfels maintains a hard-boiled, McKinsey-esque attitude toward the bottom line. “It’s hard work,” he says. “You don’t make friends.” Zaslav, a born salesman who would prefer to make friends, is more reflective. “You do sometimes get bloodied,” he said in a wide-ranging interview at Warner Brothers Discovery’s corporate headquarters in New York. But business is business. “We have made unpopular decisions because they were necessary.”
That joke about selling to Saudi Arabia in the end. Just... no.

Out of Place Together
University Remus x Male Reader
(Previous Chapter) - Part 3
Summary: An academia-core themed story about the Marauders during their final year of university in the Muggle world. Soon after meeting each other  Remus begins to fall for one of Sirius' friends Y/N another shy student.
CW: Implied previous truma
---------------------------
Lights faded and the small stage fell into complete darkness. After a pause audience members began to clap. "Claire can you give me a cue when all the actors are back on stage please" Y/N ask letting his fingers pressure off the comps button to his headset. A soft crackle emerge around his ears before the stage managers replied "Okay, yeah all actors are on stage, ready for you", thanking the stage manger Y/N from the box set off his last lighting cue. All the stage lights shot back on revealing the ready and waiting line of student actors, who with beaming faces took several bows. After which they gestured to stage left to encourage a round of applause for the stage hands and then their arms rose up towards the box, as a recognition for the technicians. Y/N always felt a smell amount of pride in this moment, looking down he smiled to himself.
While the actors left the stage and the members of the public began to stand from their seats and ascend the stairs to the lobby, Y/N switched on the house lights, thanks the stage manager for all her help, then removed his tight headset and sighed, leaning back and resting his hands on his neck. Tilting further he scanned the clock above, 10:45pm, his eyes began to drop. As planned Y/N had arrived at the drama theatre at 7:30am that day. Preparation for the performance had been productive but long, between rigging lights, checking cables, testing the smoke machine and helping actors know where spotlights appeared for their marks, Y/N had barely had time for lunch himself that day. "One down .. three more nights to go" muttered Y/N turning to his fellow technician across on the sound deck. Tiredly grinning at one another they began to shut down the equipment.
After checking and clearing up the stage it was just passed 11pm as Y/N exited the building from the back, his breath instantly creating small clusters of clouds. There was still a substantial group of friends and family all huddle around the actors sharing hugs and compliments. While people watching Y/N hardly notice a small collection of people making their way to him. "Y/N!" was all he registered before the figure of Sirius leaped upon him, bring him in for a long bear hug. "Sirius! Ah you came, thank you!" Y/N chuckles against his friends shoulder. "We all did!" declared Sirius stepping back and presenting James and Lily, waving towards Y/N and  behind them towered Remus. Y/N was shocked, his eyes wanted to stay fixed on Remus' but out of politeness they flickered between everyone's. "He came. I can't believe it" Y/N thought. They all chatted in the cold night air, Sirius insisting he could have done a better job then the lead actor and James admitting he didn't quiet follow the plot but enjoyed watching the fight scenes. "I thought the lighting was great" Remus chimed in before allowed his manic friends to take control of the conversation once more. This comment brought Y/N's eyes back to Remus' and they shared a moment which felt so precious to Y/N, his wrapped his fingers around his shirt sleeve tightly.
"Will you come out with us for a drink now Y/N?" Lily asked sweetly, shivering slightly as the breeze picked up, James wrapped his arm around her. "Sorry I can't, this show week will be pretty intense for me but I'll definitely need a drink after the final performance on Saturday" Y/N said and Lily egerly agreed as the other two started to make their way down the street. "You coming Remus?" called out Sirius, the tall man was hovering next to Y/N with his hands deep in his pockets, "Errr no, I was going to offer Y/N a lift home again if he wanted it?". Y/N stared dumbly at Sirius and then at Remus realise the question was directed at him. "Oh gosh, thank you Remus! if that's okay with you that would be really helpful!", Y/N felt himself rocking on the heels of his shoes and a smile stayed painted on his face. "Well you two have fun" called out James grinning, carrying to walk down the street the two man where now alone.
"Honestly, I really liked the lighting you did. Especially creating those lightening effects!" insisted Remus as they approach his car and ducked inside. Y/N enjoyed having someone noticing the work he was putting into the show and happily spend the car ride home explaining how the production worked behind the scenes. Remus seemed genuinely fascinated and while keeping his eyes on the road still asked numerus questions, enjoying each answer Y/N gave him. Driving down Y/Ns street Remus' car slowly halted outside Y/N student house, behind closed curtains shown sickly neon flashing lights and a slow repetitive thumping could be heard seeping through the brick work. Staring pensively through the passengers window Y/N let out a long groan and exhaustion. "Your house mates have impeccable timing don't they" Remus said, tapping the steering wheel with a long finger. Y/N stayed stationary, he felt deflated, he had several long days with early starts ahead of him. Remus studied Y/N's face, "Do you have all the stuff you need for the play in your bag" he asked. Y/N nodded still staring out of the window, his trance of despair was broken as the car engine erupted to life again and Remus began to reverse the vehicle. "What are you doing?" Y/N asked looking back at Remus, he couldn't help but stare down at Remus arms, his large jumper sleeves pulled back to his elbows revealing his skinny but tones arms. Small muscle definition on display as he held onto the steering wheel. Y/N bite the inner part of his lip. "You can't sleep there Y/N. I'm taking you back to ours. Sirius would insist the same if he was here", Y/N didn't argue, in fact he was relived by the suggestion.
As they drove across town again Y/N told the story of how when him and Sirius were on the same course Sirius has demanded to play the leading role of Juliet, resulting in a month long fude with theatre kid turn star pupil and local commercial actress on the course.  Each time Remus laughed, his deep husky nosies made Y/N cheeks blush and his fingers fidget. He found the sound intoxicating. By the time they arrived at Remus' house it was close to midnight.
Remus opened the door to the living room but before he flicked the light switch a series of curses fell from his lips. Peering in between his chest and arm Y/N could make out two figures, one draped across the sofa, boots still on , and clutching a half drunk bottle of something with the other half poured down their shirt. The second unconscious guest was on the floor facing downwards, an attempt to get undressed was made by this individual but alas they had only got as far as pulling their trousers down to their ankles, shoes still on, before surrendering to a drunken sleep. Both were snoring loudly and irregularly. "Fuck sake. These are Peter's mates" Remus grumbled visibly annoyed by the unexpected guests.
Y/N's own levels of exhaustion were finally getting to him, making his eyelids heavy and his legs slightly wobbly. He just wanted to sit down. In his state he suddenly said something he normally wouldn't dream of uttering, "Can you take me to your room please Remus". The tall man looked down in surprise but his eyes quickly softened in-between strands of his messy brown hair and nodding he guided Y/N up the stairs. They passed what Y/N assumed to be Peters own room, with the door half open, several crumpled beer cans laying in the open door way where sporadic snoring erupting from with in. As they passed Remus grabbed the door handle and sharply closed the door. Remus entered his bedroom and started fumbling to find a light, Y/N frozen in the open door way, suddenly feeling rather nervous. A click of a lamp created a dim radial of light from the rooms far corner. Remus room was small with a large single mattress laying on the floor above a grand four panelled window, the view from outside was endless darkness. There was a chest of draws with a mirror and cassette player on top of it, on the other end of the door was a shabby armchair with a battered guitar propped against it. Every other possible space in the room was littered with piles upon piles of books. One pile nearly surpassed the height of the armchairs armrests. Even the lamp next to his bed was on a makeshift stand out of several thick spine book piles. Y/N simply had no idea where to place his feet, the room had an overall vibe of organised chaos. "Please come in" called out Remus as his quickly removed several books from the bed.
Thirty minutes later Y/N had successfully made his way into the room and onto the mattress. Perched on the corners edge he was flicking through a paperback he's found in a pile which after scanning the spines he believed to all be poetry. Remus re-entered his room after going down to the kitchen to make them some tea. There was a subtle but cool breeze which sept through the old window frame which Remus apologies for multiple times as he passed Y/N his tea. "It's really nice Sirius was able to get you guys to all come along, turn outs like tonight are great for everyone's moral in the department" Y/N said in-between blowing on his hot mug. "I demand Sirius had to bring us along actually" Remus said sipping from him own cup, "Oh really?" the hairs on Y/N's arms started to prick upwards. Cradling his tea Remus smiled and then looking up met Y/N's gaze "Yeah, because I wanted to see you again". Placing his mug on the ground Y/N picked up the book of poems again and awkwardly began to flick through the pages, "Why .. I mean you barely know me", "Maybe" mused Remus "but I like all the parts of you I know about so far". There was a strange echo in Y/Ns head which was urging him to get up and leave, instead he continued to scan the books pages, trying to ignore how Remus has not stopped staring at his face.
"Ode to a nightingale by John Keats" stuttered Y/N tapping his finger on the open page "it's a really good one". The duvet under them moved slightly as Remus shuffled a little closer to Y/N, "Read it to me" he requested softly. There was a pause as Y/N contemplated this, rotating himself slightly so his back was to Remus, clearing his throat Y/N began to recite the poem. "My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains. My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk." his voice jittery at first then gradually smoothing out as he got into the flow of the verses. He could feel Remus' presents behind him and tried to focus simply on the words. He was nearing the penultimate verse when he froze as the obvious sensation of Remus' hand gently placed itself on his waist became apparent. The book in Y/Ns handsome suddenly felt weighted and he placed it beside him, his eyes still faced forward as a second hand was placed on his opposite hip. The feeling of tightness returned to his chest. "Is this okay" Remus whispers into Y/N's ear from behind. Several thoughts were rushing through Y/N's mind at once, closing his eyes he waited for them to calm down. Once peace re-entered his mind he tilted his neck to the side, meeting Remus face, which was closer to his than he thought. God Y/N thought he was beautiful, his piercing blue eyes gleaming against his strong features. Their heads leaned in together and their lips met. A slow intimate kiss was followed with a second, and third and forth. Remus' moustache brushed up against Y/N's nose and he felt the taller man's warm forehead press against his. Each kiss made Y/N desire another and as they opened their mouths Y/N let out a relaxed moan, he could feel Remus' lips curve into a smile between embraces. As they continued Y/N began to feel Remus' weight above him and Remus' arms gradually guided Y/N's body down onto the mattress and he was now on top. Everything around Y/N from the duvet to their clothes, to Remus cheeks felt so comforting.
But then Remus' hands dipped under Y/N's shirt, reaching his bare stomach and a sharp feeling of panic hit Y/N in the centre of his chest. As Remus' finger tips glided around, Y/N breathe quickened and images started to flash inside his head. Imagines which made him tense and scrunch up his brow. "Stop" muttered Y/N barely audibly, then again loud enough for Remus to hear and freeze his actions. Seeing the clear distress on Y/N's face he pulled his hands out of Y/N's clothes, "I'm sorry! What's wrong?" he asked as he let Y/N sit up and place his head in-between his knees. Y/N felt foolish and ashamed "No, nothing.  It's fine. I'm sorry, it's just" he paused and tried to steady his breathing". Remus simply sat next to Y/N and observed him, wanting to help but not sure how. After a moment Y/N sharply sat back up, brushed his hair out of his face sighed, "I haven't .. for a while .. and the last time was .. well it .. it wasn't" Y/N paused as he felt one of Remus' hands place itself on top of his clenched fist. "It's okay" he said kindly, Y/N smiled weakly and stared up at Remus, "You have beautiful eyes" Remus remarked and delicately kissed Y/N's forehead, just above his eyebrows, Y/N laughed bashfully and looked towards to ground "And I like the way your cheeks blush" Remus remarked planning a single kiss on each side of Y/N's face, Y/N could feel his tension reducing. "Would you like to get some sleep now? I can sleep on the floor?" Remus asked sincerely, "No please stay, I'd like you to stay" Y/N said, finally opening his fist and interlocking fingers with Remus, it was now the messy brunettes turn to look down and blush.
Turning off the lamp and room was engulfed in the night, the two men laid down on the mattress. Y/N put his back against Remus' chest and felt one of Remus' hands drape over his hip while the other made it's way to his head and he felt Remus fingers gently caress him hair. They seemed to fit together so naturally. Peaceful sleep came to both of them gradually.
Y/N's mind was blank. Quiet. Then his subconscious flashed and pulse abruptly. Again and again with sharp painful images and scenes. Bright red filled his mind. "Stop .. stop... STOP" screamed repeatedly inside his mind until the noise was defending and then silence. Silence and the picture of a face. A face he knows all too well. Even silhouetted in the dark Y/N still knew those terrifying eyes anywhere. His own eyes shot open and he was awake but Y/N wasn't sure at first. He jolted up right in fear and tried to remember where he was, his pupils darting across the night filled room. "please don't be here. please don't be here" repeated frantically in his mind. Looking down next to his he saw the vague shape of a body. Remus' long body next to him, still asleep. Scooting along to the end of the bed, Y/N rested his feet on the cold floorboards, placing his hands over his eyes, "Stupid... Idiot" escaped his lips.
"Y/N.." Remus' body shifting behind Y/N as he rose up from his sleeping position. Y/N wishes he was somewhere else. "Y/N .. your shivering" Remus whispered ever so lightly against Y/N's bare neck. Y/N could only answer with erratic hitched breathing. Within the dark the sound of rustling fabrics arose and then Y/N felt the woollen weight of Remus' jumper going over his head. He didn't object to Remus helping him put it on, despite feeling embarrassed all Y/N could currently do was sniff. Wrapping his knuckles into the cuffs of the oversize knitwear. The jumper smelt musky just like Remus did, it was pleasant. A secondary pressure came upon Y/N as he sensed Remus' slender arms snake under his armpits and wrap around his stomach. Remus' legs were either side of Y/N and using his arms Remus pulled the whimpering Y/N up against his chest. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry" Y/N's voice quivered, he felt humiliated, refusing to acknowledge how nice being this close to Remus again felt.
"Shhhhh, it's okay" Remus murmured gently into the crook of Y/N's neck. In the dark touching one another felt even more intimate. "It's not! I don't like people seeing me like this" Y/N sniffed getting more frustrated with himself with every sentence he spoke. "Why?" Remus asked calming, huffing in the dark Y/N's cheeks grow warm. "Because I don't like people seeing how broken I am". Y/N was trying so hard not to cry but both men could hear the quivers rising from his throat. There was a long gap before Remus spoke again. "Have you noticed the scares on my body?" the question took Y/N by surprise yet as he thought back to their previous meetings he suddenly become aware of several notable scars littered across Remus arms and rising above the collar of his jumper. Y/N remembered even seeing one just above his eyebrows. The scars seemed to vary in freshness, "Umm yeah I have, on your arms and stuff". "I have lots more else were" Remus said plainly "My infliction has left me feeling like an outsider my whole life. It makes me scared to every let other see myself for who I really am". "Your infliction?" repeated Y/N confused. Another long pause passed between them. "I'm a werewolf Y/N." They both sat in the dark, motionless.
"Does that scare you?" Remus finally asked. Y/N honestly thought about it, "no" he replied. "It's alright if it does, you don't have to pretend" Remus urged, "No I know, but genuinely it doesn't bother me" Y/N said confident in his own words, "I still trust you Remus". Y/N felt Remus grip on him tighten momentarily. Both men felt cathodic and in sync drew each other back down to the mattress in their embrace.  There was still a few hours before Y/N had to get up so they tried to rest for a little longer.
It was early the next morning when Y/N woke up significantly calmer then before, still wrapped in the tender arms of Remus. Y/Ns eyes still felt heavy with sleep yet his company was an endearing way to start his day. As he shifted around to face Remus he watched the gorgeous man's face slowly flutter awake. Once Remus' eyes adjusted to see it was Y/N's face smiling at him he grinned back, "Good morning" he grumbled. "Hi" Y/N said softly placing a hand on Remus cheek, his fingers running over his skin in circles, "I'm afraid I need to get going". They both pouted dramatically before laughing and then groaning both proceeded to get up.
Y/N was at the bottom of the stairs by the front door putting his coat on as he heard Remus' foot steps creaking down towards him. He was wearing the same baggy jumper and pyjamas bottoms Y/N had seen him in the first time they met. This made Y/N smile privately to himself. "I'm sorry for last night. Not the sexiest thing having someone have a panic attack in your bed" Y/N attempt of humour was masking a  mortified mountain of self hatred. As Y/N was preparing another self deprecating statement Remus without a word leaned down and kissed Y/N tenderly on the cheek and then on his neck. The second kiss made Y/N gasp slightly. "The first night with someone should always be filled with the bearing of one's souls and fears." Y/N awkwardly twiddled with the strapped on his shoulder bag, he badly wanted to kiss Remus back. "I liked you Y/N" Remus said honestly "And I would like to spend more time with you but we can go by your terms and pace okay" and Remus out stretched his hand. Y/N studied it carefully, taking note of the scares spanning across the knuckles "Okay" Y/N hummed taking Remus hand, the touching of fingertips transported him back to last nights embrace. They stayed smiling and shaking each other's hands, both clearly enjoying the touch. "Can I take you home again after the play tonight" Remus asked, a look of hope in his ocean blue eyes. "Yes" Y/N replied quietly before turning to the front door and opening it. They both whispered goodbye to each other, taking in each other's faces until the very last moment as the door shut, separating them.

Happy Birthday Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen born 21st September 1963 in Glasgow.
MacFadyen had a nomadic upbringing; thanks to his father’s job with the World Health Organization, he spent his childhood and adolescence in places no less diverse than Africa, Australia, France, the Philippines, Singapore, and Denmark. He went on to attend the University of Edinburgh and received theatrical training at the Central School of Speech and Drama. MacFadyen got his professional start on the Edinburgh stage, appearing in a number of productions at the famed Fringe Festival.
Breaking into television in the early ‘90s, Angus appeared in a number of series for the BBC, including an acclaimed adaptation of David Leavitt’s The Lost Language of Cranes. Following the critical and commercial success of Braveheart, the actor got a rudimentary dose of recognition across the Atlantic, but remained largely unknown outside of the U.K. He starred with Gabriel Byrne and Bill Campbell in the World War II drama The Brylcreem Boys in 1996, playing a German pilot being held captive in neutral Ireland. Until 1998, when he portrayed Peter Lawford in the made-for-cable The Rat Pack, MacFadyen’s other screen appearances tended to be in films that were widely ignored by audiences and critics alike.
He has played Orson Welles in Tim Robbins’ 1999 film, Cradle Will Rock, Philip in the BBC’s production of The Lost Language of Cranes, Dupont in Equilibrium and Jeff Denlon in the Saw series of films
Some of you might remember Angus in the excellent Takin’ Over the Asylum which also starred two great actors in Ken Stott and David Tennant. We last say him on the big screen in very underrated The Lost City of Z
Angus reprised his role of The Bruce last year in Robert the Bruce, among the co-stars, playing his wife Elizabeth de Burgh is Mhairi Calvey, who aged just 5 was ‘Young Murron’ in Braveheart. While I enjoyed the film, I thought that maybe the role of The Bruce was maybe better suited to a younger actor, but it was his “baby”, and he strived for years to get the film made.
He also appeared in the TV series Strange Angel, about a rocket scientist in 1940s Los Angeles is secretly the disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, played by our man. I have yet to see this, but must look it up. The series was canceled after two seasons.
Angus is currently part of the Outlander cast playing a Redcoat Brigadier-General, he has no less than five projects on the burner at the moment, the pic of which, for us Scots is probably a movie called The Last Redemption, which also satrs the popular James Cosmo.

My university library decided to save a bunch of lost and found items and at the end of the year, items that weren't picked up were put on display in glass cabinets (the "orphaned" items).
It included usual suspects like lunch boxes, cases of contact lenses, charging cables, calculators, paper documents/notebooks etc., but also a water cooker (???), a black g-string, and a strip of adderall.
I just... LOVE that they did that. It's so interactive and fun and silly and yet sociologically/anthropologically interesting to see items that are this current displayed in the same way we do to far older historical artifacts - out of context, separated from their owners, and without the associated story.
See, there was a post recently that reminds me a bit of this. It was about AO3, and how historians of any era (including me) would give their left tit to have access to a huge archive/repository of writing by ordinary people (and not even professional writers), who are focusing on the things they enjoy, their response to art/media/culture, and their own fantasies/ideas/deconstructions of those texts. History is still sometimes written as the "great men doing great deeds" model, even if that has been substantially challenged and revised in recent years. But that is only a very small part of the human experience, just as much as it is today. There are tons of ordinary people who just don't get memorialized or have ways for us to access their experience, and as such, there are still so many basic things we don't know, or which are considered to be "irrelevant" to "real" history.
Anyway: AO3 is an incredible historical archive precisely because it focuses on those ordinary things and ordinary productions of ordinary people, and this library exhibit sounds like it does the same thing. So yes.

Marxism in The Silt Verses Universe
One thing I noticed when listening through The Silt Verses again is how easily certain Marxist ideas map onto the TSV universe and how well the podcast lends itself to Marxist analysis. Below are just a few of my observations on Marxism in the TSV universe. Also, I’ll be using some Marxist terminology in this post, which I’ll explain as I go.
Base and Superstructure in the World of TSV
What is the Base and Superstructure?
A good concept to start with would be the base and superstructure in both the Consolidated Linger Straits (CLS) and the Peninsula. In Marxist thought, society is thought to be composed of a base and a superstructure. The base can basically be described as how things are made, what is used to make them (human labor, factories, tools, and etc, AKA the means of production), and the socioeconomic relations between people in this society. In the CLS and the Peninsula, we see some of the typical elements of a modern capitalist society, whose most salient feature is private (i.e. by individuals or corporations) ownership of the means of production. There are businesses, such as factories, cafes, and marketing agencies, and they use inputs such as machinery, oil, agricultural crops, human labor, and sometimes the humans themselves as materials to produce whatever it is that they produce. One key difference though is that deities, through sacrifices and rituals, are also used as a means of producing something. We also see the typical socioeconomic relationships of a capitalist society, such as employers and business owners versus employees. The superstructure is pretty much all the other features of a society, such as culture, religion, political structures, and etc. In Marxist thought, the base and superstructure interact in a way such that the base primarily shapes the superstructure and that the superstructure justifies and maintains the base. Think for example how a capitalist society has private businesses that produce news, such as newspapers, cable news, and etc, and the news businesses create media that generally justifies and maintains the status quo.
Base and Superstructure in the Peninsula and CLS
In the context of TSV, I think the really interesting base-superstructure relationship is the relationship between the capitalist economies of the CLS and the Peninsula and the religious system in TSV. In the TSV universe, gods such as the Petropater, the Slag King, and the Saint Electric, are part of the means of production, and hence also shape society. For example, employment contracts can require you to be sacrificed, which happened in the case of Vaughn. Also, since a god must feed, the state supplies sacrifices, which seem to be sourced from prisons in some cases. Another example is the Cloak, which is a deity specifically created for the police, an institution that in the real world exists to enforce hierarchies and the status quo and maintain capital. There are a lot of other features of the TSV universe that we can look at such as Sid Wright and the Grinding Lord, the corporate creation of the Sweet Jolly Crunchtooth as a deity for farmers, or the fact that there are militarized faiths that can be called upon in times of war, but I’ll skip them to keep this already long post from being even longer.
The Trawler Man and the Many Below - Theories on Change
Another element that I think would be interesting to explore through a Marxist lens are Paige’s god (the Many Below) and the Trawler Man who are essentially gods of social change. However, the Many Below brings progressive change and revolution, while the Trawler Man is a deity of reactionary change.
The Many Below and Revolutionary Change
Let’s start with the Many Below. A good topic to begin with would be the reform versus revolution debate. This debate, which has been going on in leftist circles for ages, is about the strategy of achieving socialism. Here, socialism means an economic system where the means of production are owned by the people and decisions on how to use them are made collectively. Socialism is often confused for social democracy, which is a system characterized by strong social safety nets, such as universal healthcare, free education, welfare, etc. but still operating within capitalism. The reform versus revolution debate centers on whether we can reform our way into socialism by, for example, passing legislation to slowly bring it about, or if a complete overthrow of capitalism through revolution is necessary to obtain socialism. The Many Below is a revolutionary deity whose purpose is essentially to starve the other gods by stealing their sacrifices. If Paige’s plan succeeds, the current system would be completely upended, rather than being slowly chipped away at or reigned in. It seems that Paige is firmly on the side of revolution here.  Additionally, there’s a moment where Paige’s father Dennis goes on a small tirade about how Paige’s plan is misguided. It’s actually so on the nose, that it made me think that it was Jon Ware and Muna Hussen’s intent to sneak some leftist themes into TSV. Here’s the quote from Dennis in Season 2 Chapter 11 that I want to examine.
DENNIS:
And now…and now you want to hide your pamphlets in library books, like love-notes?
Listen to me, Paige. Just…listen, OK? I’m going to give you a life lesson here.
(Condescending)
If you try and seed this supposed god amongst comfortable people, amongst well-off people, you’re gonna get a deeply unhappy lesson in just how many good citizens will skim over your pamphlet once and then turn it over to the police.
(Deeply sarcastic)
And then all your hard stapling work? That’ll be for absolutely nothing.
Stop thinking like a fucking mark.
You’re smarter than this.
This isn’t a god for people like you. It’s not there to offer comfort.
It’s a god for the desperate, the hopeless - all the poor bastards across the Straits who’ve had to confront the material reality that they could be seized by five armed policemen, dragged down a corridor and hallowed any second from now.
Set your god loose in the prisons. Not the libraries, not the care homes - the prisons.
That’s where it can circulate - if there’s anything to it.
Dennis here is critiquing Paige’s strategy of trying to agitate the populace by placing propaganda for their deity in places where they may be noticed and read by others. This is not to say that using propaganda to create consciousness of one’s situation and its cause isn’t a worthwhile tactic. However, Dennis does astutely point out that circulating this propaganda amongst the comfortable is a poor strategy. Instead, he recommends that they target poor and oppressed people, especially incarcerated individuals, since they have the most revolutionary potential. Indeed, we see this tactic work with Esther. This is a classic example of the Marxist idea that class conflict, i.e. the conflict of the dispossessed against the class of business owners, investors, and landlords, is the force that causes society to move forward.
The Trawler Man and Reactionary Change
On the other hand, we have the Trawler Man. The Trawler Man is also a god of change. However, the world that the Parish of Tides and Flesh wants to create is a world remade in the Trawler Man’s image, one remade in silt. In this way, the Parish is similar to any other group that wishes to advance their deity. They’re simply vying for supremacy while leaving the system of deities in place. sJuxtaposed with the Many Below, we see that the Trawler Man is a god of destructive change, whose followers seek to gain control of the world to return it to a primordial state (similar to how fascists wish to bring back a fictitious golden age), whereas the Many Below is a god of progressive change and wants to rid the world of deities and hence sacrifices. It’s interesting to note that once the Parish becomes useful to the Peninsula in the oncoming war with the CLS, they become fully legalized. This is an interesting parallel to how centrists and the center left are often all too willing to work with fascists when expedient.
Other Observations
The Police
There are also a few other interesting things to note in TSV. While these aren’t explicitly Marxists ideas, they’re still popular amongst leftists. One is anti-police sentiment in TSV. In general, the police are framed in a negative light. We can see this in the characters of Daggler and the CLS police that kill Dennis. Daggler is willing to lock up innocents, and both are willing to engage in extrajudicial killing. Even early Hayward was portrayed somewhat antagonistically. The most interesting thing about law enforcement in TSV is the Stink. When a detective is failing to close cases, they begin to develop a stench, which worsens over time until they are killed by their coworkers and sacrificed to the Stink. We can see that the Stink is a metaphor for the real life institutional pressures to arrest and convict people, regardless of their guilt. This is an example of how characterizing police misconduct as a few bad apples ignores the fact that the institution of policing is rotten to its core.
Grind and Hustle Culture
Another idea that appears a couple of times is the criticism of grind culture. One example from S1 and Sid Wright, where Sid becomes a sacrifice to the Grinding Lord and has to stay awake and be on the air until he dies. Another is Hayward’s coworker in Season 2 Episode 3, Gren, who chides Hayward for having a bad attitude and advocates for working hard and trying to impress the rich so that they may themselves become wealthy. In exchange for all this extra labor, he is rewarded with a mere disemboweling. Here we can see that for all the promises of grind and hustle culture, the only people that benefit from one’s extra labor are the capitalist class.
Conclusion
These are just some themes I’ve noticed, but I’d love to hear what others have noticed in TSV and other podcasts. Part of me wonders if some of these themes were intentionally included, but I think the more interesting scenario would be if there was no intent and the applicability of Marxist thought in TSV is more attributable to its validity.

Hey! So I have some lived experience in being poor and mentally ill I had to learn the hard way in my adulthood after growing up with abusive neglectful narcissistic parents. Maybe it will help someone else.
1. Instant pot. Crock pot. Rice cooker. You only need one, but all 3 are versatile, can use very little electricity to run, and are perfect to dump ingredients into and come back later to a healthy, cooked dinner.
You can research which is best for you by looking up "crock pot recipes" "rice cooker meals" to get a feel for what types of meals you can prepare in each and how it's purposes can best fit your cooking style.
2. Get your electronics secondhand. Phone companies make so much off of poor people bc they contract us into pay plans that mean that by the time our phones are needing replacing, we've paid for it 2 or more times over. Consider going Sim only and getting your phone secondhand.
Websites like backmarket and envirophone sell refurbished phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, TVs, consoles, headphones, all sorts like new and for a fraction of the price point you'd usually get them at. I've not bought an electronic new since 2015 and the products I get refurbished last just as long as if I'd bought them new. Plus it's better for the environment. Even if I had money I don't think I'd go back to buying new honestly.
3. Static charger. If you're Autistic and can't sit still, like me you might be finding that the first thing to go on your electronics is your charge port. It's really annoying because it's not a cheap fix and I have had to replace phones early when they won't charge any more.
Last year my girlfriend and I got static chargers. It's an adapter that sits in your phone/tablets charger slot that magnetically connects to a universal charger. Its great for us because now everything rechargeable (phones/tablets, but also headphones, game controllers, keyboards/mouses) takes the same cable. It's really handy, but for me the best part is that the adapter doesn't move. So even if I'm fidgeting with my phone on charge it won't wear down the charger pins over time. We paid £20 for 3 and it's paid for itself because I've not had to take my phone for it's yearly fix since I got it.
4. Make a cozy space outside of bed. As a bedrotting girlie I know the allure of just saying "fuck it" and curling up in bed is so strong. I also know that when I do it for days at a time my sleep quality gets worse, my days blur together and my mental health gets so much worse. Especially if I'm working, watching TV, eating all my meals and doing my hobbies all from my bed.
One thing that helps me break up the bedrotting and at least helps me get some decent sleep so I might wake up feeling better tomorrow, is having a cozy spot that isn't in bed I can spend at least some of my day in.
For me, it's the couch in my living room. I've furnished it with pillows, blankets, and a little coffee table I can rest my stuff on so I can feel as comfy as I do in bed, but not actually be in bed most of the day. For You it could be a book nook, or a floor bed, or a desk with a chair in your bedroom.
5. Giant water bottle. This one is really simple. We need 8 glasses of water a day to be healthy and hydrated. Basically nobody depressed has the energy to fill up a glass of water 8 times a day. If you can get a water bottle that holds 2 litres (65oz) of water, now you only need to fill one drinking vessel once a day to be healthy and hydrated.
It's really simple and sill but it honestly saved my life. I buy those drink flavor packets because I drink more when it tastes nice. Is it as healthy as plain water? No. Is it healthier than no water? Yes. Easy peasy.
My bottle is from Meoky, its the 64oz stainless steel camping bottle with a flip straw I got for under £20. I like it because it keeps my water cold and I'd rather walk on hot coals than take a sip without a straw, but I've bought same size BPA free plastic bottles for like £3 and they have lasted me 2-3 years too so the budget options are absolutely worth it too.
6. Reconsider what's worth getting second hand. Generally when thinking about buying secondhand we mean clothes at the thrift, and that's great, but buying pre loved can be anything, and you can buy some high ticket items at an affordable price point that way.
If I ever want an appliance I always look second hand first. My rice cooker is secondhand and it is my favourite appliance. I've also bought a popcorn maker for a fraction of the price I'd buy it new, and I'm looking for a Kitchen Aid mixer for no more than a third the price they usually sell at. My vanity houses my shark air styler, I got it refurbished second hand and it was like new when I bought it. I use it every day and it still has so much wear in it.
Generally, the bigger and heavier something is, the closer to free you can get it, because the people getting rid of it just want it gone. If you ever need a washing machine or some furniture, look on gumtree or local no buy groups first. Type "free ___" followed by where you live into Google to get an idea whats available. If you're furnishing a space it's very likely you can get everything you need for the cost of the van you hired to collect it all.
7. Frozen vegetables. Fresh produce is getting more expensive and because we neurodivergent and mentally ill people can have a habit of letting fresh produce rot in the fridge, wasting money and making more mess to clean up, it's usually not worth it. The thing is, frozen produce is cheaper because it is picked in season, healther because it is frozen at optimum ripeness, and can be safely stored in your freezer for months, it's so worth doing.
They're usually pre-cut and can generally just be chucked into your dish frozen to defrost while cooking, making them easy and accessible. You can buy mixed vegetable packs (in the UK the most common is sweetcorn/peas/carrots and broccoli/cauliflower/) for some variety too, which I like to just dump a portion into soups or broths for some added vitamins.
8. Medication delivery. I've been medicated for mental illness for years, and a regular problem I used to have was I would neglect going to pick up my meds because I was depressed, then I'd run out and be unable to collect them because the lack of meds was making me more depressed.
Now however, I'm signed up with an online pharmacy. They processes my prescriptions exactly the same way any other pharmacy would and dispense them through the post in a box that fits through my letterbox. I never have to leave the house for meds again which is actually a lifesaver, the shipping is super cheap, like free for 3 day delivery and £2.99 for next day, and it's all processed through a super simple app that I only have to use like one a month when I request my refill.
It's so worth it and if you struggle to get out like me I absolutely recommend it. In the UK it's called Lloyd's Direct Pharmacy, but I'm sure it's a service you can find in other places of the world too.
9. Laundry separation is a lie. Which isn't a big deal for people who don't care about throwing money away on extra loads or people who have the spoons to faff around separating their clothes arbitrarily, but for poor neurodivergent people, it is.
So here's the thing, the rules of separating laundry by colour came about when clothes were made of all natural materials that would stick to each other when agitated and natural dyes that would run in water. Nowadays, clothes are made of synthetic or blended materials that can handle the friction of a modern machine and synthetic dyes that hold up to basically anything. 99% of clothes on the market, and therefore probably 99% of your wardrobe, is polycotton or some other poly-blend. So generally, everything you have can just all go in together on a warm wash.
Now, if you have woolen, linen or cashmere pieces, you should be separating them and following the care instructions on the label, but everything else, just shove it in mate, nothing bad will happen.
10. Protein powder. Protein powder is cheap, it's stored dry to it basically never goes bad, it's obviously protein so it's a really good addition to your diet, it tastes of whatever flavour you buy it in so it's a good meal substitute if you're depressed and your appetite is low, and it comes together really easily.
I usually get it in big tubs because they're cheaper per gram that way and I just add them to my coffee/hot chocolate for a boost or stir it into some Greek yogurt for a quick healthy snack. Thats actually my favourite way to get protein in because it's like 2 minutes and it covers up that sour taste yogurt has. I've also stirred it into milk for my cereal to varying success but it's good because the fat in the milk and the carbs and fortified vitamins in the cereal make it basically a meal. If I'm struggling for breakfast I usually add a scoop or two to an instant porridge pot and I have a ready to eat nutritional meal ready in the time it takes to boil the kettle.

IT'S LORE TIIIIIIMEEEEE
SO
This is my theory on the Numberjacks' (and meanies', kind of?) creation and anatomy. To begin with, I'll talk about how I think they were created.
Tumblr media
The Brain Gain Machine is quite obviously not fully machine. It can move, talk and a lot of weird green goop is involved??? Which I don't think would be there if it was completely machine. So I think it is a cyborg. And it originally looked something like this. I think it is parasite-esque, using the sofa as some kind of shell. My lore theory/AU(?) says that there were 2-3 of these, the others being destroyed and this one being damaged, so it was modified to be a cyborg. Since the Numberjacks and Meanies are somewhat alien, I think they all share a godlike creator that sent the Brain Gains to Earth to then later send signals to them (via the 'cables' on top of it) that 'spawned' the characters. The other Brain Gains would have been the ones that created the Meanies.
Tumblr media
Numberjack birth I guess?
Since they are literally maths, the Numberjacks are just physical forms given to mathematical concepts/structures. Since they are created by the Brain Gain Machine, they do not need to reproduce (hence not having reproductive organs).
'But if the Numberjacks are maths given physical forms, what about the Meanies?' You might ask. Well, since they are more complex, with more specific abilities of their own, they are physical forms given to concepts, for example, topology (in Shape Japer's case).
Now on to the anatomy of the characters.
Tumblr media
Their organs are somewhat similar to that of humans, but do not have all of the same ones. Since, as I've said before, they are just maths given a physical form, they do not grow or change in any way naturally. (The younger characters would be pretty small if that was the case.) However, since they are still living beings, they need to eat to survive. It'd also be pretty obvious if they did need to use the bathroom because Zero, One and possibly Two would be wearing nappies/diapers.
I think they'd also have an organ that I will call:
Tumblr media
a Changeheart.
Which would be of similar size to that of their regular heart, except it gives them them a mild ability to change how things are mathematically described (and since the way things are described can't be changed, the thing being described has to change itself). The reason this would work is because I think the godlike being I mentioned earlier would be the Mathematical Universe Hypothesis given form, and the hypothesis is that our external reality is a mathematical structure. (You can tell I did a lot of research on this lol)
'Waste' products from their stomach are burned as fuel by this organ.
The changeheart gives out pulses (presumably bioelectric? Idk I'm not that good at science) containing the change that needs to be made to the surrounding area's structure. The Brain Gain Machine picks up on these pulses, concentrates them and sends them to a specific location to be used by another person with a changeheart.
The reason it has the same green goopy stuff as Brain Gain is because the Brain Gain itself has a changeheart, just a really big and more complex one.
Now on to human forms! Since I feel like it should be explained for various reasons.
Tumblr media
Since they are 'aliens', they would not be born with a humanoid form. I think several other characters other than the Puzzler and the Numbertaker have humanoid forms since it has been implied that they have done things that only humans would be able to do (mostly shown in the audio stories). They may have one opportunity to visualize and shift into a human form that will be that form for as long as they live (which is forever). Since visualizing a human form means knowing what a human looks like, they would've only seen humans as they are usually, which also means their human forms would not have... you know. And anyway since they are all technically biologically agender they couldn't do that.
Tumblr media
me right now
Oh gosh that was a lot. If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading! I hope you found it interesting.
If you have any questions about this or want to know more about, for example, the Meanies' anatomies, feel free to ask in the ask box thingy!
