Songs in Hazbin Hotel
I've noticed that in Hazbin Hotel, in each episode they have 2 songs (obviously), but of those two, one is a song for drama/plot and the other is a song for fun.
The fun ones tend to be like: simple message, more memorable lyrics, fast paced, the characters are enjoying themselves, has a catchy beat.
The Drama/plot ones tend to be like: hard to describe concept, intense feeling behind the song, song that changes a character in their arc/sets a scene, slow paced, maybe not as memorable lyrics, ballad.
Remember, these songs are styled off of Broadway songs, fun songs are there to describe a character, drama songs describe a scene or part of the story, the character's feeling in that moment.
Let's look at some examples;
Overture: The Opening act so to speak...
Happy day in hell: Drama song, Starts slow moving into a ballad, this song sets the scene and plot of the entire show, how Charlie has hope and optimism despite the terrible landscape, people and circumstances around her.
Hell is Forever: Fun song, Details Adam's character and establishes him as the villain, certified bop with a catchy beat. It could be argued that it establishes the ordeal of the season, but that's in the last 30 seconds, and more importantly, Adam is singing this to have fun and throw his weight around Charlie.
Radio Killed the Video Star: We meet our secondary antagonists and the plot moves forward.
Stayed Gone: Fun song, Made to establish the rivalry between Vox and Alastor, but that was established before hand. This is mainly a song of Alastor and Vox going at each other. It also has a fast pace, and is memorable quippage between the two characters.
It starts with Sorry: Drama song, Slow paced ballad establishing sir Pentious being accepted into the group.
Scrambled eggs: Showcases the other overlords, and hints at things to come down the line (I.e Alastor's scheming and the killable angels)
Respectless: Fun Song, Another Quarreling song with a fast pace, and characters moving to the rhythm, words having a bouncy effect.
Whatever it takes: Establishing Vaggie and Camilla's characters as well as their parallel, you might argue that makes it fun. Of course, the song is slow paced (ballad), and the characters are singing about how the desire to protect the ones they love (intense emotion), as well as their worry about what may come.
Masquerade: An episode covering Angeldust and his tragic life. This one was hard to determine, neither are ballads.
Poison: This song might be considered fun, as I've seen many covers and it's fast paced, good song to dance to. However, it also has Angel being very upset with his situation.
Loser, Baby: This one is slow paced, and has Angel comes to terms with the fact that he's not alone in his situation. However, he also is much happier than the song before.
I've got to say in the end though, I think Poison is the fun song, as it details an already prevalent situation describing Angel's life. Loser, Baby is the song for Drama as it details a main part of Angel's arc going forward (the begininng is like a ballad).
Dad beat Dad: An introduction to Charlie's father and previously mentioned Daddy's issues.
Hell's Greatest Dad: Obviously Fun song, it's a quarreling song, also borrowing elements from "Friend like me," Showcasing Lucifer's power as King and showing the main two men in Charlie's life compete for her attention.
More than anything: Obviously Drama song, very ballad song, this is where Lucifer and Charlie get into the deep seated reasoning behind their actions, showing how much they care about each other, by the end Lucifer decides to support Charlie's endeavors.
Welcome to Heaven: Introducing the other side the afterlife, the home realm of the antagonists, Charlie makes her case, and we learn the truth of Vaggie's origins.
Welcome to Heaven: Fun song, introducing everyone to the atmosphere that is heaven. How is this different from "Happy day in Hell"? It is faster, has a faster pace, and you can tell the voice of Saint Peter, Emily and Sera are enjoying themselves whilst singing, especially Darren.
You Didn't Know: Drama song, mainly slow paced, as truths are revealed and ethics are questioned. Mostly a ballad, except for Adam and Lute with aggressive words and rhythm, Much longer than the other song.
Hello, Rosie: Approach to the innermost cave, smoothing out the final wrinkles before the final act. Bonds are firmly established and a game plan is made.
Out for Love: Fun song, fast paced, establishes what we already know, Vaggie is and should be driven by her love for Charlie, as Camilla was driven by love for her daughters. Vaggie gets her wings back, but they don't play a huge role in the plot and are not discussed in the song.
Ready for this: Drama Song, starts slow and ballad-y, and not as fast paced as "Out for love." Mainly a song to attempt to recruit the army needed to fight the angels, as well as establish her cementing her drive to fight to protect her home. Also hints at Alastor's intentions, but that's negligible.
The Show must go on: The Final act... This one was also hard as both are ballads.
More than Anything reprise: Seeing as this is a reprise of a drama song, it might be drama as well as the characters detailing intense emotions, however the song is quite short and details what we already know.
Finale: This is mirrored to another Drama song, being "Happy day in Hell," but everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, of course it is longer.
In the end, I put "More than anything reprise" as Fun, because it doesn't give us anything except something for shippers. "Finale" I ended up classifying as the drama song because it is setting the final scene, and hinting at what's to come. It also showcases how far everyone has come, which is also plot related.

Okay, I’ve been meaning to do this for a while but kept getting derailed. Thankfully I’m fully caught up on Rise (though it took me forever) and I was able to mostly sort out the in-universe order for the episodes.
Because fun fact-- something I noticed way back in season 1-- is that the episodes weren’t released in in-universe order. This was true on cable, this has held true on netflix and hbo-max paramount+ (I goofed, oops), and while [turtlepedia] does have them listed in tv broadcast order and has the episode production codes listed, neither of those entirely match up with the various in-episode context clues for what order things happen in.
And believe me, some of those context clues, those in-episode “signposts” are subtle enough to be blink-and-you’ll-miss-it details (like the fact that the background video for Donnie and Mikey in Hypno! Part Deux! implies that it’s happening at the same time as Repomantis). Needless to say it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of paying attention. And thankfully season 2 wasn’t as all over the place (mainly due to more of the episodes not having any distinct signposts beyond things that made it obvious they took place after season 1).
(I’ve done my best to get it as nailed down as possible. Episodes that occur at the same time are listed on the same bulletpoint in recommended watching order.)
So good news if you’re like me and you’d like to watch the episodes in in-universe order, because this is that list!
Without further ado, I give you:
The In-Universe Rise Episode Timeline
Season 1:
Mystic Mayhem
Origami Tsunami
Donnie’s Gifts
Smart Lair
War And Pizza
Newsworthy
Repomantis & Hypno! Part Deux!
Down With The Sickness (Due to not really having any more than one possible signpost, this one could take place either before or after the previous point or The Purple Jacket. I don’t think it’s any later than that, but it’s debatable.)
The Purple Jacket
Minotaur Maze
The Longest Fight
The Fast And The Furriest
Stuck On You
Hot Soup: The Game
Mascot Melee
The Gumbus
Shell In A Cell
Pizza Pit
Bug Busters
Mrs. Cuddles (Like Down With The Sickness this one has very few signposts, only two that I spotted and one of those is debatable, but it does take place sometime after The Fast And The Furriest.)
Al Be Back
The Evil League of Mutants
Late Fee
Bullhop
Portal Jacked!
Mind Meld
Nothing But Truffle
Warren And Hypno, Sitting In A Tree
Shadow Of Evil
You Got Served
Operation: Normal
The Mutant Menace
Sparring Partner (This is another one where the placement isn’t entirely certain, but it is after Origami Tsunami, The Fast and the Furriest, and Shadow of Evil.)
How To Make Enemies And Bend People To Your Will
Mystic Library (This is another one where there aren’t enough signposts to be sure where this one belongs exactly, but this was my best guess.)
The Purple Game
Jupiter Jim Ahoy!
Cloak and Swaggert
Man Vs. Sewer
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man
One Man’s Junk
Snow Day (Yet another one where the time placement isn’t certain and this is my best guess, though it does take place sometime after Late Fee and possibly Jupiter Jim Ahoy!)
Insane in the Mama Train
End Game
Season 2
Many Unhappy Returns
Todd Scouts
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles
Flushed But Never Forgotten
Lair Games
Breaking Purple
Repairin’ the Baron
Air Turtle
Pizza Puffs
Sidekick Ahoy!
The Hidden City Job
Always Be Brownies
Mystery Meat
Donnie vs. Witch-Town, Raph’s Ride-Along, Hidden City’s Most Wanted, Bad Hair Day
Fists of Furry
The Clothes Don’t Make the Turtle
Battle Nexus: New York
Finale Part 1: E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Finale Part 2: Shreddy or Not
Finale Part 3: Anatawa Hitorijanai
Finale Part 4: Rise
Rise of the TMNT, the movie
Go forth and enjoy!
(And if anyone wants my rationalization on any of this, just hit me up and I can go in detail.)

I will forever be disappointed at the absolute lack of Mikey and Leo episodes in rise, I can literally only think of 2 off the top of my head, but I love the fact that they show the relationship in other, more subtle ways. What do I mean? I’m so glad you asked, MIKEY COPIES A LOT OF LEOS CATCHPHRASES AND MANNERISMS AND IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME THANK YOU
Okay so. I agree with you 110% that we need more of Leo and Mikey. They have the sweetest relationship and I love the way Mikey mirrors Leo. He copied so much of his big brother and I hope to highlight that relationship soon.
However!
This ask for me thinking about which brothers got the most screen time. So I made this.
A comprehensive list of all the episode. Listed by what relationship is highlighted. If one stands out more then the others I have set them to the side as a focus.
All brothers
Origami Tsunami (1,2a) (focus on Leo leading)
Donnie's Gifts (1,2b)
Mascot Melee (1,5b)
Shell in a Cell (1,6a) (Raph vs Leo, Donnie vs Mikey)
Minotaur Maze (1,6b) (Leo focused)
Bug Busters (1,7) (Raph vs Leo leadership focus). (NOTE: the episode doesn’t play them against each other but more highlights the differences in their leadership/seeing the world)
The Longest Fight (1,8a)
Stuck on You (1,10a) (Raph leadership)(it highlights all the brothers but the episode does focus on Raph just a bit more as it is his plan)
Pizza Pit (1,11b) (Raph lead)
Smart Lair (1,12a) (Donnie focus)
Bullhop (1,14b)
Mind Meld (1,15a) (Donnie focused)
Sparring Partner (1,18b) (Raph focused)
Mystic Library (1,20a)
The Purple Game (1,20b) (Donnie focused)
Man VS. Sewer (1,21a) (Raph and Leo) (looks as savage Raph and Leo’s ability to lead)
The Mutant Menace (1,21b)
One Man's Junk (1,23a) (Raph and Leo vs Donnie and Mikey)
Jupiter Jim Ahoy! (1,24b)
Todd Scouts (2,2a)
Pizza Puffs (2,5b)
Sidekick Ahoy! (2,6a)
The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle (2,10b)
All brothers plus April
Mystic Mayhem (1,1)
War and Pizza (1,3a) (all brothers) (april focused)
Al Be Back (1,10b)
Snow Day (1,23b) (Raph, Leo, and Mikey vs Donnie, April, and Mayhem
Air Turtle (2,5a) (Leo focused)
All brothers and Splinter
Down with the Sickness (1,4b) (Raph focused)
The Fast and the Furriest (1,5a)
The Evil League of Mutants (1,13)
Late Fee (1,14a)
The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek (1,22b)
Flushed, but Never Forgotten (2,3a)
Hamato clan
Mrs. Cuddles (1,9b) (Raph focused)
Shadow of Evil (1,16)
Insane in the Mama Train (1,25)
End Game (1,26)
Many Unhappy Returns (2,1) (Leo focused)
Lair Games (2,3b) (Leo and Donnie)
Battle Nexus: New York (2,11)
E-Turtle Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2,12)
Shreddy or Not (2,13)
Anatawa Hitorijanai (2,14)
Rise (2,15)
Donnie and Mikey
Repo Mantis (1,4a)
Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man (1,22a) (Splinter)
Raph and Leo
Hypno! Part Deux (1,8b) (April stars as well)
Leo and Mikey
The Gumbus (1,9a) (April as well)
You Got Served (1,19a)
Donnie and April
The Purple Jacket (1,11a)
Donnie vs. Witch Town (2,8b)
Mikey
Hot Soup: The Game (1,12b) (Cassie)
Nothing But Truffle (1,15b)
Leo
Portal Jacked! (1,17a)
The Hidden City Job (2,6b)
Bad Hair Day (2,9b)
Donnie
Breaking Purple (2,4a)
Raph
Raph's Ride-Along (2,8a)
April focused
Operation: Normal (1,18a) (Leo and Donnie)
Cloak and Swaggart (1,24a)
Always Be Brownies (2,7a) (Splinter and Cassie)
Fists of Furry (2,10a) (Splinter)
Villain spotlight
Newsworthy (1,3b) (villain focused)
Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree (1,17b)
How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will (1,19b) (Draxum and Cassie)
Goyles, Goyles, Goyles (2,2b) (origin story)
Mikey and Draxum
Repairin' the Baron (2,4b) (plus Raph)
Mystery Meat (2,7b) (April)
Hidden City's Most Wanted (2,9a) (Splinter)
You will notice that Leo gets the most solo episodes by himself. Normally this is when he is with Señor Hueso and we see Leo growing into himself
Donnie has a lot of episodes focused on him but he can’t stand on his own his story is driven by his relationships
Raph is almost never alone and has one episodes where it is just him and one of his brothers. But it focuses on them helping April not thei relationship to each other.
Donnie and Leo never have an episode alone! They have the one where they are helping April but it isn’t focused on them and their relationship.
Raph and Leo never stand alone (we get two one when they are facing off and one where they are working together)
Mikey and Raph never get an episode (and we were going to get one!)
Raph and Donnie are never together (they have one episode where they play against each other and one where they are with each other) never a solo episode.
So while I agree we need more Mikey and Leo we also need more of all of them together and paired off. There was so much more this show could have done if they only had time.

"Blue Beetle" episode list- "Batman: The Brave and The Bold"
Tumblr media
So, I just finished watching all of "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" and since that is what first introduced me to the hero Blue Beetle III (Jaime Reyes and Khaji Da), I wanted to compile a list of all episodes they appear in. I did also sort of include Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle, and it is as much marked accordingly. One is red because that is technically the Scarlet Scarab, but it is still Jaime.
And I am tagging you, because you may like the list or see if i missed something, @bluejogan. Excuse any spelling errors, rip.
I marked if they were from the pre-intro shorts or the main episodes, and then if they were major/minor/background appearances relative to that.
Episodes under the cut!!
Season 1:
EP 1 - Rise of the Blue Beetle
Main EP, Blue Beetle-centric. Major spotlight.
EP 4 - Invasion of the Secret Santas
Pre-intro short scene. Major.
EP 8 - Fall of the Blue Beetle
Main EP, BB-centric. Major. Jaime Reyes and Ted Kord (flashbacks).
EP 12 - Deep Cover for Batman
Main EP, Scarlet Scarab (Villain!Blue Beetle). Minor.
EP 13 - Game over for Owlman
Main EP, minor.
EP 16 - Night of the Huntress
Main EP, BB-centric(?). Major.
EP 24 - The Fate of Equinox
Main EP, background appearances, no speaking.
Season 2:
EP 3 - Revenge of the Reach
Main EP, BB-centric, major.
EP 4 - Aquaman's Outrageous Adventure
Main EP, minor(?)
EP 10 - The Power of Shazam
Pre-intro, minor
EP 14 - The Siege of Starro pt.2
Main EP, minor/background.
EP 18 - Menace of the Madniks
TED KORD - BB-centric, major.
EP 22 - Cry Freedom Fighters
Pre-intro, major.
EP 24 - Darkseid Descending
Main EP, major.
Season 3:
EP 3 - Shadow of the Bat
Main EP, major.
EP 6 - Time out for Vengeance
Main EP, major.
EP 10 - Powerless
Main EP, minor/background.
EP 11 - Crisis 22,300 miles above Earth
Main EP, major(?)
EP 13 - Mitefall
Main EP, background.

Pleased to announce that the episode list has officially been updated
Along with the links to all of my liveblogs (and the two posts making up for the gigahiatus), I have also fully updated my episode ranking to include every episode of the show. You can see all that right here.
Sorry about the wait, I think the reason I waited so long to do it is because I knew that once I did, I would officially be done with this blog, and my relationship with this show. It wasn’t exactly something I was looking forward to, but it’s done.
So, now that we’re here, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for reading once again (even the 10 people who followed after my final blog for some reason lmao.) I already said all I wanted to say in my other “final post”, but truly, it means the world to me that this many people cared about an endeavor I went on. Even if it’s just posting silly reactions to a silly cartoon on the internet.
Again, if you want a more proper conclusion, go read the pinned post on this blog. But for now.. I guess this is it.
Once again, I love you all. I’ll seeya when I seeya.
