She sits in the corner of the jet, facing Aaron in the two-person seat near the entrance to the cockpit. She’s sat there with him on almost every trip for the past 3 years. He’s good company, not too talkative, he gets her drinks and he gives her little smiles every so often. It’s relaxing to sit with him… however, tonight, she’s not in a good mood and he can tell.
He looks at her all concerned and then looks around at the others to assure they’re all busy. “Are you alright?” He whispers. Keeping her business between them.
She shrugs, “My sister’s been texting me. Her engagement party is coming up and I promised I’d go but I just found out that my cousin and her fiancé are going to be there…”
“Do you not like her?”
She shakes her head, “it’s complicated.”
“I’m all ears?” He reminds her.
She sighs, “Her fiancé is my ex-boyfriend. She slept with him while we were still together… I was in the academy and he was apparently lonely all by himself and didn’t have the time to travel here to see me so he fell into her bed instead.”
“I’m so sorry,” Hotch says, concern all over his face and disbelief in his voice. “That’s awful, why would your sister invite her?”
“Because my parents are paying for it and all the family gets to go, no matter what,” she scoffs. “It’s to show off, nothing more.”
“You know…” he tilts his head to the side and his brows go up as he thinks, a pondering look on his face that’s quite amusing. “You could bring someone with you, someone to prove to him that you’ve moved on and you’re in a much better place now?” He suggests.
“Yeah, like who? Morgan?” She teases, laughing slightly.
“Or me?” He offers. His brows were still raised but the softest, most sincere look on his face. She’s never seen him look so… so affectionate. So careful. Unless he’s with Jack. This is his ‘I love you like family I’ll do whatever you need me to’ look.
“Yeah,” she gives in. “That would be nice… it’s December 22nd. Would you be able to take time away from Jack that close to Christmas?”
“Where is it?”
“they’re having it in New York, that’s where my sister lives now,” she explains. “I’m taking the train up the night before, I have a hotel room booked but I could stay with my sister and you could have the room for the night?”
“Could we switch to a double queen?” He suggests.
She shrugs, “I can call and find out?”
“Okay,” he nods. “Jack’s with Haley this Christmas, I see him boxing day till New Year's Day and then he goes back to her.”
“We’ll have to bring him home something,” she suggests. “We can even go a bit early or stay later if you want to go shopping a bit in the city?”
“He’s always said he wants M&M’s with his face on them,” he teases. “It’ll be fun.”
“I’ll tell my sister to expect another person,” she says as she pulls her phone out. “Do I tell her you’re my boyfriend?”
He nods, “Whatever you want to call me, I’ll be it for the weekend.”
She tells him to pack a suit and obviously an overcoat to stay warm in the cold New York air. The party they’re going to is going to be on the top floor of this really expensive restaurant, they’ll have rooftop access and there’s free drinks. It’ll be the fanciest non-FBI party he’s ever been invited to.
The team doesn’t know they’re going together, everyone has the next two weeks off unless there’s something serious like terrorism or multiple bodies dropping, or a kid going missing. But it’s not often their Christmas breaks get disrupted. So they pack up on the 20th, everyone takes the elevators down to the garage together and they say goodbye before their vacations.
He meets her at the train station the next day at 11am, their train leaves at 11:20, and he comes with snacks and coffee. Always in dad mode, he knows what it’s like to go on a long trip with someone who’s hungry, it’s not always fun. They have a little booth together, the trains are mostly empty this close to Christmas. Everyone’s either where they want to be already or taking last-minute flights. So it’s quiet, they get to look out the window together and she shares an earbud with him, with her phone on shuffle, exposing him to a whole bunch of new music.
And she has a nap, head on his shoulder and wrapped around his arm. It’s not the first time this has happened, he’s let her sleep on him on the Jet and they’ve had to share beds in hotels before. He’s hugged her after rough cases and when she’s just sad… she’s his family. Everyone on the team is. He just feels it a little stronger for her.
He rests his cheek on her head, looking out the window with a smile on his face. Excited to pretend to be her boyfriend for the next 2 days. To have her hang off his arm, to dance with her… maybe even steal a kiss or two to really sell it. And he can’t wait to see her dress, or how she does her hair or if she’s going to wear makeup? She doesn’t get all dolled up for work, but he’s seen her dress up for the bar and events for the bureau and he thinks she is so, so beautiful. Always, but especially when she puts on lipstick and her good perfume.
He’s been harbouring this little crush on her for so long that he’s not really sure how much longer it can stay a secret.
They arrive in New York at 6pm. The hotel they’re staying at has a restaurant and Y/N, being the genius she is, booked a reservation for 6:30. They have enough time to put their bags in their room and head back downstairs, but their room is wrong.
“They told me they could switch to two queens?” She complains as she sees just one bed. A King bed.
“Did you specifically say two queens or a double queen?” He teases. “Cause a double queen might make them think you want a bigger bed…”
She groans, holding her hands over her face, “Oh god, I fucked up.”
He gently rubs his hand on her back, “Hey, it’s okay. I don’t mind sharing for 2 nights, there’s lots of room in there. Plus… it might be good for playing pretend.”
She smirks, “my boyfriend would sleep in the same bed as me.”
“and enjoy it,” he pulls her in for a hug and rests his chin on her head while she snuggles into his chest where she feels safest.
After dinner, they walk around the city a bit. She still has to get her sister something and she has a registry at some fancy store nearby. They get hot chocolates and stand close together as they walk, hands brushing each other but not holding, no matter how much she wants to hold his hand. So she rubs her knuckles against his and waits for him to be the one to finally give in.
It takes a while, they walk down the block and explore two stores but he finally takes her hand in his, fingers interlocked, as they cross the street. And he doesn’t let go once they’re safely back on the sidewalk. He simply guides her towards the store her sister is registered at and they head inside, closer than ever before.
“Hi, can I help you with anything?” One of the workers asks with a genuine smile on her face.
“my sister has a registry here,” Y/N explains. “It should be under Lindsay and Connor Higgins?”
She’s taken to the register and handed a list, everything they want is on it. Some crossed out as they’ve already been purchased, but a decent amount of things are still there. A lot of it is pointless, fancy shit but she likes to think she knows her sister well. She knows what would actually be used by her and what would just be a decoration to prove she had good taste.
Her sister works really hard at a very important publishing company, she’s gone to work by 6am and home no later than 8pm most nights. She lives on coffee and wine to wake her up in the mornings and relax her at night. So she gets her an espresso maker and some crystal wine glasses. But when she goes to pay for them, Aaron reaches out and pulls the wine glasses towards himself. “I’ll get these, I can’t go without a gift.”
She smiles, “you don’t have to.”
“I want to,” he assures her.
They pay, they get a decorative gift bag each and head back outside to the cold. He reaches for her hand again and she lets him, smiling over at him. “You’re taking this assignment very seriously.”
“Have you ever known me to slack on the job?” He teases.
She bumps her shoulder against his, “No, I guess not… and I guess this is helping, it’ll look more real in front of everyone tomorrow.”
“It won’t be that hard,” he assures her.
“Why, 'cause I’m so loveable?” She jokes, not believing the words that leave her mouth.
“Yes, actually,” he nods, smiling over at her.
She just laughs, not thinking he means it as anything other than familial. “Thanks. You’re pretty great too when you’re not telling me what to do.”
“I don’t boss you around that much,” he laughs too. “Dave teases me all the time about how much nicer I am to you than the others.”
“Well, I am your best agent,” she shrugs with a proud smirk. “You wanna go back to the hotel or is there anything you want to do tonight?”
“We can go back,” he agrees, leading them in the direction of the hotel already. “I’m going to need some good beauty sleep to make your ex jealous tomorrow.”
“Ha!” She laughs, raising her hand that’s carrying the bag to cover her mouth as she giggles. “Yeah, no you don’t. You’re like a million times hotter than him, it’s not a fair fight at all.”
“Yeah, okay,” he shakes his head in disbelief.
“What?” She looks at him like he’s crazy. “Do you not think you’re hot?”
“Not exactly…”
“I knew you were funny but that’s hilarious,” she jokes. “You’re very, very hot. One of the hottest men I’ve ever seen in my life, like People magazine should be reaching out to you for sexiest man of the year. You’ve been on the news enough times, surely the public will agree.”
He laughs at the compliment, “Thank you, I guess… I guess I should trust your judgement here the way I do everywhere else.”
“Yes, 'cause I’m never wrong,” she reminds him.
They keep joking around, teasing each other until they get back to the hotel. Up the elevator and into their room. They leave their gifts by the door and Aaron lets her take the first turn in the bathroom to get ready for the night.
She takes off her makeup, she washes her face and does her skincare routine and he knocks, “Are you okay in there?”
“Yeah, you can come in,” she announces, still fully dressed.
He opens the door slowly, “You’ve been in here 10 minutes already I thought you were just changing?”
“Nope, skincare is important,” she smiles at him, massaging the moisturizer into her face. “Want some?”
He smiles, “Sure, why not?”
“Wash your face first, get a new face cloth over there,” she points and steps out of the way of the sink. “My face wash is right there.”
She watches him wash his face carefully, smiling at him through the mirror with so much affection behind her eyes. He’s so cute when he gets soft like this, she could easily see them having a life like this together. Getting ready for bed together, doing their nighttime routines and falling into the same bed. Night after night. Forever.
Once his face is washed he looks to her, “How much moisturizer do I use?”
“Want me to do it?” She offers.
He nods, “please?”
“Sit down on the toilet lid,” she instructs and he moves over there quickly.
She opens the jar again and takes a decent-sized amount onto her fingers, she puts the jar down and smiles at him, “It might be cold.” She dabs it on his forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and then starts to rub it in for him. He closes his eyes and sighs as he leans into it. “Like it?”
He hums, nodding slightly, not wanting to talk incase he accidentally got cream in his mouth. She just smiles, adoringly, loving that she gets to have moments like this with him. “You’re so cute…” she whispers.
He chuckles, finally looking at her again. She cups his face in her hands, “all done.”
“You’re cuter.”
“What is happening here?” She asks, completely serious. “Are you just a good actor or—
“I was in a few plays,” he teases. “But no, I’m not acting.”
“Do you have a thing for me?” She lights right up. “Oh my god, you do?”
“And you call yourself a profiler,” he shakes his head. “Yes, okay? I like you. I think you’re wonderful and beautiful and everything I want— is that what you wanted me to say?”
“Get up,” she says, pulling at him.
“Why?” He asks as he stands.
“So you can be taller than me when I kiss you,” she teases. Grabbing him by his shirt and pulling him in.
The kiss is soft at first, cute and sweet… but then they get needy. Years of close proximity and bubbling feelings and “what ifs” all coming to the surface. He cups the back of her head with one hand and holds her lower back with the other, holding her flush to his chest as his tongue makes her acquaintance.
She accidentally moans as his hand goes down to cup her ass and he smiles against her. He pulls back slightly, noses brushing. “I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to do that.”
“Really?” She can’t believe it.
He smiles before he steals another kiss, and another and another and before they know it he’s backed her out of the bathroom and all the way to their king bed. He has her on the mattress, hand on her back and the nape of her neck as he cradles her and hovers over her. His tongue on hers, their chests pressed together, and her hands on his back with her nails desperately clinging to the cotton.
He eagerly moves to kiss her neck and while it feels so good, she’s worried about what is about to go down. Sure, she hoped for this. She thought maybe they’d have a few drinks at the party tomorrow and stumble home and fall into bed together and regret it in the morning but this… admitting to liking each other while completely sober, was not on her mind at all.
“Aaron,” she whispers, hesitation in her voice.
He pulls back, “something wrong?”
“Are we going to regret this?” She worries.
He cups her face gently, his body weight still on top of her, it’s oddly comforting to feel so trapped under him. “I know I won’t, but if you will, then we stop. I never want you to regret your time with me. I never want you to be uncomfortable with me. I never want to lose what we have… so if that means we never have more than a friendship, I'm perfectly okay with that.”
“I have tried so hard not to love you for the last year and a bit that we’ve been friends,” she admits. “If we go further and you change your mind, I’ll never recover.”
“I won’t change my mind,” he says, confident as ever. “I want you to love me as much as I already love you.”
His thumb caresses her cheek while he talks, he looks at her with the most affectionate look she’s ever seen on him. He’s so handsome all the time, but this look. The softness, his big brown eyes, the way he smelled like her face cream and he kept looking down at her lips like he was dying to taste them again… she’s always believed him when he speaks, but this is different. He’s opened his chest and handed her his heart and he wants her to hold it and keep it safe... forever.
“I love you,” she admits, tearing up because this is so unreal. “I love you so much, Aaron.”
He kisses her again, so gently, breathing her in and savouring every moment. Sure, it’s not their first kiss, that happened 10 minutes ago, but this is the first kiss they’ll have being openly in love with each other.
She kisses him again and again, never wanting this to end. She wraps her legs around him, she holds him closer than ever and he lightly moans against her. She starts to work at his shirt, unbuttoning it so she can get her hands under it. She wraps her arms around him, touching his hot skin as he breaks the kiss and moves down her neck.
“I love you, so much,” he reminds her again.
“Show me how much?” she whispers right into his ear.
He pulls back, delicately looking into her eyes, “are you sure?”
She nods, “more than I’ve ever been before.”
He gets his shirt off, and he pulls her forward to pull hers off too. Through kisses and rolling around, his pants are off, then her’s. Behind her, he kisses her spine while he unclips her bra, pushing each strap off her arms with kisses to her shoulders, he cups her breasts and kisses up to her ear again, “lay down.”
She listens, he gets between her legs and peels her underwear off. Raising her right leg, he kisses her knee and down her thigh, as he gets on his stomach, he looks up at her for permission and all she can do is nod because this seems unreal. His big beautiful brown eyes are looking at her from between her legs as he kisses the most intimate part of her body and she’s in heaven.
She’s died and gone to heaven. The train must’ve crashed and she’s in her own personalized forever with the man of her dreams…. But it didn’t. This is real and happening and she should be enjoying it.
She grips his hair, and her back arches as she moans into the contact, he’s so fucking good with his mouth because of course he is? Is there anything this man can’t do?
Full of love and zero expectations or worry, she feels herself getting closer to an orgasm so much faster than she has with anyone else ever. Not even herself. Normally she’s so in her head, so nervous and worried or barely being taken care of… this one just sneaks up on her, trembling through her, she grips his hair a little tighter and moans out his name, “Oh, oh I’m cumming, I’m— oh!”
He laps up every last drop as she rides it out, overstimulating her slightly, and he can tell. He pulls back with a grin, proud of himself and enjoying the way she looks so fucked out like this.
He kisses back up her tummy, between her boobs and then hovers over her while she’s still catching her breath, “hi…”
She smiles, “Hi?”
“Ready for me to show you the rest?”
“There’s more?” She teases, “You love me more than that?”
He laughs, “Yeah, that was just a taste…”
She pulls him in for a kiss, tasting herself on his lips. “Mm, a good taste.”
“You’re telling me,” he growls. “I could do that every day for the rest of my life.”
“And I’d let you…”
He kisses her again, cause if he doesn’t, she won’t stop teasing him.
Kissing him while coming down from her high, feels unreal. She’s floating on a cloud, and might as well be on drugs— it feels too good, she moans against him, legs wrapped around him, she never wants to let him go. He kisses the side of her mouth, “baby—
She hums, pulling him back in for another kiss.
He pulls back, “I can’t fuck you with my boxers still on.”
She sighs, pretending it’s more work than it is, “Fine, take ‘em off.”
He shakes his head with a smile as she lets him go and he’s able to push his boxers off. “And I need to grab a condom—
“did you bring condoms?” She sounds shocked.
He nods, “yeah… I didn’t expect anything, I just always have some in my toiletries bag.”
She watches his cute ass jiggle as he walks towards his bag, he squats to undo the zipper and she tries not to laugh at the view of his balls dangling but it’s so endearing somehow? He’s real and there and he’s about to rock her world.
He’s quick to grab what he wants, he rips the condom open with his teeth and tosses the wrapper to the floor as he rolls it on right beside the bed. She watches carefully, eyes scanning his whole body. She hasn’t really had a good look at him while naked yet, he’s been pressed against the bed or on top of her. But damn.
“Jesus,” she whispers under her breath.
He smirks, “what?”
She waves her hand around in his general direction, “You just walk around with all that under your suits every day?”
He shakes his head again, “I could say the same thing about you.”
He crawls back onto the bed, between her legs again, one hand on the bed as he hovers over her, “you okay with this position?”
She nods, “perfectly okay with it. It’s a very underrated position.”
“Mhm,” he agrees, leaning in to kiss her again. One hand on her hip, he grinds himself against her, “Ready?”
She nodded, watching as he lets go of her hip to grip himself at the base, she spreads her legs a bit more and he taps her clit once just for fun but it makes her whine, “Don’t tease me.”
“But you can tease me?” He asks, head right at her entrance, about to push in… she nods and that’s when he does it. Watching her head tip back with a silent moan. “Now I know how to get you quiet.”
He goes back to rest his hand on her hip but she reaches for them and interlocks their fingers, instead. He bottomed out and dropped to hover over her once more, bringing their interlocked hands over her head.
She reached up to kiss him, but Aaron pushed into the kiss and made her settle into the pillow once again. It honestly felt like a movie scene, the first time between two star-crossed lovers. He pulled out ever so slightly before thrusting in again, she gasped against his mouth. Aaron trusted more while she pushed her hips into it as well, an offbeat rhythm developed in pure ecstasy. She let go of Aaron’s hands to snake them around his waist, to run her fingers over the soft and slightly chilled skin of his back. Feeling the bump of his spine Aaron ducked into the crook of her neck, placing kisses along her collarbone.
He changed the position of his thrust as he wrapped his arms under her, arching her back ever so slightly to reach the bundle of nerves that left her a quivering mess. She, in response to the added pleasure, ran her sharp nails down Aaron’s back and he groaned at the feeling, “do that again.” he requested.
“Like that?” She asked, dragging his nails down him once more.
“Yeah,” Aaron moaned, dark and deep. “Mark me… where no one can see it, only you know tomorrow.”
So she does, she runs her nails over his back with more intent, knowing there will be 8 red lines spread down his back in the morning. Just then, he starts to kiss lower, down to her boobs, where he sucks a mark that shouldn't be visible in her dress tomorrow… he wanted to mark her just as bad. But his kisses quickly return to her neck and lower ear.
“Aaron,” she moans out. “Go a little faster?”
He does as she asks, keeping that loving feeling but picking up the pace. The feeling of pure bliss overtook her body with each thrust, warm chills ran through him with each brush of his thumb on her clit. Every kiss to her neck and squeeze around her waist made her feel like she was on fire. The hairs on her arms stood up, and goosebumps formed along his forearms. Aaron kissed from her neck to her nipple and took the hard nib into his mouth causing her to moan like she never had before.
“Aaron,” she panted, pulling Aaron’s face back up to his.
His eyes were absolutely blown out in pleasure, those chocolate wonders he used to stare into were now replaced solely by the pupils. She ran her thumb across Aaron’s cheek before reaching to the nape of his neck to pull him into another kiss. Open mouths pressed together, hot air on each other’s faces as they panted to the pleasure.
She was in heaven.
Her orgasm bubbled in her stomach, “are you close?” Aaron whispered right beside her mouth, kissing her cheek lightly after.
She hummed, unable to speak with the mass amount of pleasure coursing through her body. Aaron fucked into her a bit harder, a tiny bit faster, hitting her G-spot dead on each time to the point the nerves in her thighs were quaking uncontrollably.
She was so close, Aaron used 3 fingers to quickly rub over her clit before she threw her head back with a shout. Cumming with her eyes pressed shut, pleasure coursed through her body stronger than she’s ever felt before.
Nothing had ever made her cum that hard, ripping through her like her soul was leaving her body. She dug her nails deep into Aaron’s skin holding him close to his body while he kept thrusting.
A high-pitched gasp left his lips, close to her ear as his hips sputtered into hers one last time. She still hadn’t opened her eyes, her breath rigid, she felt winded. Aaron had stilled as he came inside of her and then collapsed into her, deadweight lying on her.
But she didn’t mind. Not in the slightest. She wrapped herself around him even tighter and kissed the side of his head, “I love you, too.”
He kisses her neck, “I can’t believe I was afraid to tell you…”
“Silly man, we could’ve been doing that the whole time,” she teases him again the first chance she gets.
He huffs a little laugh out of his nose, smiling against her. “We can do this all the time now.”
“Mhm,” she squeezes him a little tighter. “I hope you know this means we’re dating now. I don’t just fuck anyone. Especially not my boss…”
He manages to push himself up to look at her, and the look on his face says it all. “Yeah, I know… and I’ll handle the paperwork when we get back.”
They get all dolled up together, between kisses and flirting and teasing… they end up fully dressed, presents in hand, on their way to the party. They hold hands the whole cab ride over, up the elevator and into the booming restaurant.
It’s entirely booked out for her sister’s party, on the top floor of a fancy building. It’s completely catered, there are fancy waiters walking around with trays of hors d’oeuvres and expensive champagne. They have their gifts taken from their hands upon arrival and their hands are instantly filled with a drink. She looks around, looking for the first person she knows well and spots her mom and dad over on the other side of the room.
“Come with me, I have some people I want you to meet…” she says as she leads him through the crowd.
He’s nervous but more excited. She gets to show him off and this isn’t a lie. He really is her boyfriend and they are in love and happy and this is everything he’s ever wanted. With his hand around her waist the whole time, shoulder to shoulder, he meets her parents and her sister. He shakes hands with her dad and her new brother-in-law, he gets hugs from the mom and sister, they’re looking at her with eyes that he can hear. They’re saying how much of an improvement he is to the last guy, they’re amazed at how handsome he is, and he blushes slightly in response.
“So how long has this been going on?” Her dad asks.
She looks up at him and smiles, “Not long, but we’re really happy.”
“The happiest,” he agrees, stealing a quick kiss from her that makes the women swoon.
“You know, this is fantastic,” her sister announces. “I was worried you’d be upset to see Brad and Cameron here together but now you have Aaron and they’re not even coming anymore. Something happened… I don’t even think they’re together anymore.”
“Oh?” She’s completely shocked to hear that.
“Once a cheater always a cheater,” her brother-in-law says under his breath with the roll of his eyes.
“We see it all the time at work,” Aaron agrees. “It’s pathological. They crave attention so intensely that they’ll do anything to get it, to the detriment of the people they love. They cheat because for a moment they’re the most important person, they’re attractive enough to get who they want and powerful enough to get away with it. And even when it blows up in their face they can play the ‘you wouldn’t be this mad if you weren’t so obsessed with me’ card.”
“That’s Brad,” her dad agrees. “Good riddance, honestly.”
“Let’s just leave it there,” her mom announces. “We’re here for Lindsay and Connor.”
“It’s been lovely to meet you Aaron, but we have a lot of people to mingle with,” Lindsay announces and Connor sighs. “We’ll talk again later?”
“Sounds good,” Y/N lets them head off and then she’s just with her parents. “Um, I’m hungry… Aaron, did you want to go raid the snacks?”
“I’d love to,” he agrees. “It was lovely to meet you both.”
“We hope to see you again regularly?” Her mother throws in.
“I don’t plan on going anywhere,” he assures, “you should get used to me.”
She manages to pull him away from them, a little overwhelmed and so in love with him. She gets him to an empty corner and looks up at him like he’s crazy, “did you seriously say that?”
He nods, “What part of last night didn’t you understand? I’m madly in love with you. I would marry you tomorrow if it wouldn’t take the attention off your sister.”
She just laughs, shocked and amazed that he just said that. “Really?”
“Yes. Really.”
She shakes her head in disbelief, “o-okay… but you still have to ask me. I don’t need anything big and extravagant and I’d like to maybe pick the ring out with you if you want but—
“You want to?”
She nods, that teasing smirk he loves so much plastered on her face, “I don’t just want to be your work wife, Aaron.”
“We’ll revisit this in the new year… I need Jack to know about this and be okay with it before I spring a step-mom on him,” he explains.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

PAY ATTENTION ● Older brother Suguru & Younger sibling!Reader
Tumblr media
what happens when suguru's cute younger sibling, who'd usually talk his ear off and cling to him, suddenly starts to... do their own thing?
Pairings: Platonic Suguru Geto x Younger sibling!Reader
As we know, Suguru is a rather mature teenager
He carries this air of elegance, always putting on a polite smile and spilling pleasantries past his lips like sweetened lies
But we also know that Suguru can be childish around the right people
So it's not a surprise to anyone close to him that when his younger sibling, you, stops following around like a lost puppy, Suguru immediately starts to sulk
You're only three years younger than Suguru, fourteen to his seventeen
You two always had a close relationship, closer than most siblings tend to have
Suguru loves spending time with you, to him, you're easily the funniest kid he knows
It's hard for him to ever calm down completely since he's constantly stressed with the sorcerer world
But every day when he goes home and you're in the living room or in your room, it's like he can finally breathe
Because before Satoru, you were Suguru's only friend
His little mini-me, partner in crime, best friend
You two clicked and moved like one, so in tune with each other he always marveled at how most siblings tend to hate each other
Of course, the two of you do fight sometimes
Over who gets to take a shower first, who ate the leftovers, who gets to watch what on TV
"Did you use my shampoo?"
"The one you keep hiding from me? Yeah."
"You little– That's expensive."
"That's why I used it, Suguru."
You two are siblings after all, what kind of siblings never fight?
But he never felt the kind of animosity and distrust so many brothers and sisters feel around each other, the kind that made them roll their eyes whenever they even got close to their siblings
To Suguru, you're his little sunshine, someone he'll protect until the day he keels over and dies
Not that he'll ever tell you that
(number one rule of siblingship: Never be too touchy-feely)
So imagine his surprise when the little punk who usually follows his every step, always under his elbow, asking him to hang out or help with homework, stays glued to the phone even when he sits in the same room
Like.... what?
You barely greet him, a half hearted "Hey, you're home." falling from your lips without even looking at him, and he's offended and hurt at the same time
You're fourteen, sure
He knows you'd start pulling away from him now that you have more than a couple of friends, more subjects to study, and... uh..
Puberty
But he thought it'd go away after a bit, that you'd go back to being his cute little sibling once you realized he is so much cooler than the kids your age
He'd walk past your open door multiple times a day after coming home, trying to see if you were going to invite him to hang out
He'd make tea with a mouthwatering fragrance, put on your favorite show, talk to your parents about going to a very trendy and fun place you'd surely want to go with
Damn, at some point he'd probably even talk to Satoru on the phone, loudly, because he knows you're curious about the pretty white haired teen who always teases you whenever he sees you around Suguru's home
But even then, nothing
Nothing at all
Suguru feels like he's watching the baby he helped learn how to walk turn into an adult and leave him behind
And as a big brother, he's upset, a little petty, and worst of all;
Sulky
Of course, Satoru and Shoko definitely notice, because although Suguru is quiet, he's not staying in a corner looking out of the window while listening to sad music and reminiscing quiet
And of course, they both make fun of him when he explains the situation
"And here I thought Gojo was the unreasonable one."
"Hahaha! I– I can't believe! You're sulking because the little brat isn't talking to you?!"
"Shut up, Satoru, and don't call my baby sibling a brat."
"Hah! You're such a loser, Suguru!"
Needless to say, when Suguru comes home and you're still glued to your phone in the living room, he's not in the greatest of moods
You barely look up when he drops his bag on the table
"Welcome back, Susu."
And because no one ever made a law saying Suguru can't act like Satoru sometimes, the teen flops on the couch and hugs a pillow, not answering you
That, you notice
Your brother always talks to you when he comes back home, even when he is all banged up from whatever they do at school
The sight that greets you is... something
Embarrassing, endearing, definitely pathetic for your big brother
Suguru is pouting, looking down at the pillow his strangling to his chest, his knees pulled up to make himself smaller
Not that it works, he's built like a bean pole
His shoulders brush yours, because even though he's mad, he still misses his cute– annoying little sibling
"Suguru?"
...
"Mr. Suguruuuu....?"
...
"Hey, what's wrong?"
He turns his face away, his hair slapping your face, and pushes more of his body against yours
"What the– Dude, you're squashing me! Suguru, what's wrong with you?!"
Suguru still says nothing, silently letting more and more of his weight to lower on top of you until you're smushed against the couch
Once you're a baby sibling pancake, Suguru finally opens his mouth
"So now you're paying attention to me, huh?"
... Huh?
"Huh?"
Suguru huffs, his hair all over your face, body much bigger and heavier than yours not allowing you to move an inch even though you struggle, and squeezes his pillow
"No, it's fine. Go ahead, ignore your big brother all you want. It's not like I helped mom and dad raise you."
"... Are you kiddi–"
"Yeah, keep your eyes glued to your phone, don't need to talk to me or don't hang out with me– actually, don't even look at me at all, since I'm sure you'd much rather look at your phone."
"You're being such a chil–"
"No, no, by all means! It's not like I miss you or anything."
You sighed with some effort, because Suguru is still on top of you and he's not a lightweight, and thump your head against the soft couch
Sure, you know you've been a little distant from your big brother
But, hey, you're fourteen now!
You have your friends and stuff you wanna do without your brother around
And, really, Suguru is a hypocrite
Ever since he started high school he wouldn't stop talking about the white haired cutie
Which you understood, if only visually because Satoru would often call you pint-sized Suguru
But he also spends time with other people!
"You do know I have other friends."
"So I don't matter to you anymore, is that it?"
"No, I'm just not gonna hang out with you all the time!"
"Well, you haven't been hanging out with me at all."
"Urgh!"
"Yeah, urgh."
God, you really wish more people knew about how pouty and clingy your big bro can get
Maybe they'd stop thinking he was this mature and chill guy
You groan against the couch and your brother presses his back down, pushing the air out of your lungs
"You're so annoying!"
"You used to say you wanted to be just like me when you grew up."
This guy...
You sigh, relaxing and surrendering
You're supposed to meet up your friends this weekend to watch a movie, but two of them can't make it so everyone gave up on it
Might as well use the opportunity
"Fine– I'm sorry, okay? Do– Do you wanna watch a movie this weekend? The one that just came out?"
Suguru stops for a second, letting some of his weight off of you and allowing you to breathe properly
He mutters the name of the movie and you confirm it
"Hmm..."
You can hear the smile on his face and you scoff, the exact same smile pulling at your lips too
"If you promise you'll pay more attention to your neglected older brother, then yeah."
Oh, you so want to take it back
But then again, now that he brought it up, you also miss him
If only a little
Like, a smidge
"Fine, I won't ignore you anymore. Happy?"
Suguru took a moment to answer before turning around to press a loud and gross older brother kiss on the back of your head
Now you have to take a shower
"Very happy."
He sounds smug and satisfied, finally a little more relaxed
He really did miss you so much
You're his baby, okay? Growing up too fast will only give him heartaches
And now Suguru can tell Satoru that you don't hate him
Everyone wins
...
"Hey, can you get off now?"
"Hmmm, no, I'm comfortable."
"Well, I'm not! Get off, Suguru!"
"Don't feel like it."
"Suguru!"

25 days til' Christmas
going toy shopping and running into singleparent!miguel o'hara ⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One more gift. You just had one more gift to get for your daughter. Two more minutes until you arrived at the only boutique in town that had it in stock. Three more sets and you are at the door. Then, there you saw it. The last Lego Ninjago set in the world. Four strides and you were in front of it. You quickly got your hands on it. But just as it was in your hands it was gone. Someone had snatched it away.
You whipped your head around to see the tallest and most handsome thief ever. Sorry good looking but that Lego set is mine, you thought to yourself as you swiftly tried to take it back from him.
That behemoth of a man dared to hold the toy above his head. "Hey, this isn't fair give that back!" you exclaimed, jumping as high as you could trying to snatch it. He even looked amused by your efforts.
"I took it first, so it's mine," he explained.
"No! I touched it first!" you said poking a finger into his chest naturally.
"You touched it with one hand, I touched it with two," he counted. Around you burn the flaming aura of two parents who love their kids more than anything and are determined to get them this toy for them.
"Listen jackass, my kid needs to have this toy," you said, finally giving up on taking it.
"Well my daughter wants it too, can't we make this work," he questioned.
"No, we can't 'make this work', that's the last one," you argued, raising your voice a bit.
"Why don't we just organize a playdate, and have our kids build and play with the set together," he proposed. You gave it thought before nodding.
"Okay, I could do that, but I'm buying it, and we're meeting at my house," you said sternly. Once he let his guard down you snatched the set and put it behind her back.
"Alright, alright, I can work with that, here hand me your phone," he said holding his hand out. You handed him your phone and put his number in it.
"Please shoot me a text anytime this week," he says as he bids you goodbye.
"Will do, Miguel O'Hara," you said, reading his name off of your phone.
. . .
Knock! Knock! Kno—you swung the door open and greeted Miguel and his daughter with a nod. You were on the phone, your hair still wet from the shower you had just taken.
"Mariana is in the living room, I'll join you all soon," you said before walking into the kitchen seemingly arguing with someone on the phone in a hushed tone.
Once you entered the living room the girls were already working on their Legos bonding over Cole being their favorite character from the show.
You set some snacks down for them and joined Miguel on the couch watching them play together in a comfortable silence. Once the girls were done building and started making their own stories you and Miguel started chatting a bit. Other than the grudge you had against him from what happened in the store, he was kind of funny. But effortlessly, he just speaks and then wonders why you're stifling laughter.
The four of you decided to play Candyland together over gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate. Gabriella and Mariana occasionally bumped the two of you together thinking that they were being slick with their matchmaking. The two of you knew that there was a lingering flirtatious tension between the two of you and that your daughters had caught on.
In saying goodbye hours after your daughters' play session, your bodies parted but your eyes stayed connected. That connection pulled your souls together and in that moment you felt as though you could hear his thoughts, and he could hear yours. "When can I see you again?" Miguel asked after getting Gabriella into the car.
You cocked your brow at his questions. "Our daughters can see each other for another playdate over the weekend," you teased.
With that you and Miguel said goodbye. Awaiting the next time you and your kids would meet.
. . .

Masterlist | All Stories Taglist | All Chapters ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you fucking kidding me,” Wanda mutters to herself as she reads the letter that was taped to her front door. With everything going on, this has to be the cherry on top. She hates living under a homeowners association. She submitted a thorough request for the expansion that she thought was going to get the approval from them. But instead, she was given a rejection with a notice that someone from the association was going to drop by to review the damage and give her a deadline to have it fixed with the original blueprints. She can't even add windows.
She calls Pietro as she angrily gets into her car to update him in the bad news. “I fucking hate that place,” Pietro says. “Alright well, you tried. I will let Y/n know and cancel a few orders for materials. I'm sorry they rejected you,” Pietro sighs on his end.
“Thank you for all of your help,” she ends the call and continues driving to pick up her boys from their sleepover.
Pietro calls you through the radio to meet him at his office whenever you have a chance. You let him know that you will and when your lunch break comes around, you head to his trailer. You're curious as to why he would need to talk to you. The construction team is ahead of schedule and as far as you know, way under budget. Then you think that maybe Wanda told him about your sleepover and worry that he might've misunderstood his sister.
You knock on the door to his onsite office and he shouts that the door is unlocked. You open the door and climb in. “You wanted to see me?”
“Yeah,” he shuts his laptop to focus on you and you begin to worry that he's going to tell you to stay away or something. “Wanda's request for the expansion wasn't approved. We have to undo all of the work we started and put it back the way it was.”
You're relieved that the chat isn't about your night but you're upset by the news. “She can't fight back on this?” You ask as you think of the ways that Wanda could get what she wants.
“She could, but it didn't sound like she had the energy to. And since we don't own the home there's nothing we can do about it.” Pietro explains. You nod with a deep breath and tell him that it sucks before leaving the office promising that you'll see him tomorrow.
After work you send Wanda a quick text letting her know what you think about the situation. When she doesn't respond, you assume it's because she's busy with the boys. Instead of checking your phone every five seconds, you get ready for your date. You shower and put on the nicest clothes that you own. You spend time making sure your hair looks perfect and smelling good.
You drive to the address that Daisy gave you, it isn't Phil's house and you're curious why she's staying somewhere else but when she gets in the car she explains that she doesn't want her dad to know anything about her dating life unless it's someone worth mentioning. “That's pretty much what any single parent does,” you say with a small laugh.
“I know, my friend comes from a broken home. I just thought after a few bad attempts of bringing people to meet my parents it would be best to have my own place when I was in the position to do so.” Daisy says as she fixes her makeup in the sun visor mirror. “You look amazing by the way. I had no idea that you cleaned up so well.”
You smile as you take a moment to look at her during the stop light. “Thank you, I try. You are stunning, Daisy. I think I might lose you at some point tonight. I don't know how anyone will be able to look at anything else.”
Daisy tries to hide her blush as she holds a seriousness in her eyes, “I don't care about anyone else. I only want your attention.” You start to lean in to kiss her but the car behind you honks the horn and you realize that the light is green. “Keep your eyes on the road. Wouldn't want to end up in the hospital on our first date.” She places her hand on your thigh, startling you, and squeezes.
“Woah,” you say as you take her wrist and pull her hand off of you. Instead you hold it in your hand and drive with the other. “How was your day?” you ask in order to start some sort of conversation. The two of you find something to talk about the entire way to the restaurant, easing the nerves that had been eating at the both of you.
When you're seated you notice a couple of guys looking over at your table but you don't think much of it. “Oh this pasta sounds good but so does this one,” Daisy says as she points them out on the menu in front of you.
“They do sound pretty appetizing. How about I order one and you order the other and we split it, so we can try both?” You suggest.
Daisy scrunches her face and denies the idea. “Actually, I think I'm going to get the steak,” she says as she browses the menu more. You nod and start to look for something else on the menu.
After the both of you have ordered you're left staring at each other, sipping your drinks. “Can I ask why you wanted to go out with a single parent?” You finally pose the question that has been haunting you since last night.
“I have always kind of wanted to date you,” she shrugs. “You’re good looking, kind, funny, wise, and have a good heart. What more could a girl ask for?”
You fail at hiding the affect her words have on you and grin as you shake your head. “That is a really sweet answer but I'm trying to figure out what you want from dating me. I mean, I have a daughter and she will always be my number one priority. I know that many people aren't okay with that and-”
“I’m not one of them,” she interrupts as she lays her hand on the table top for you to take. You place your hand on her wrist and the two of you hold each other like this from across the table. “I’ve met Rachel. You've had me babysit her in the past. She's a great kid and I love her. I don't blame you for putting her first. In fact, I respect you for it.”
You fill with relief at her words and nod, “Thank you, I just wasn't sure. I mean, you're in your early twenties. You should be young and free and not dating someone like me.”
Daisy shakes her head, “You're not some decrepit person that can't leave the nursing home. You're still young and free and in your twenties. I don’t know what you think people my age do but I've dated plenty of them. None of them want a real connection outside of physical. Honestly, I'm ready to start thinking about settling down with someone. Build a life, y'know?”
You nod and bite your tongue to keep from pointing out how young she is to start thinking about that stuff. You're in no position to say anything because you don't regret the decisions you've made and you know that at eighteen you wouldn't hear that kind of advice. By twenty-two you probably still wouldn't have listened.
Halfway through what turns out to be a quiet meal, you excuse yourself to the restroom to give yourself some space and a pep talk to stop being so awkward. While you're exiting, your phone starts ringing and you answer when you see that it's Wanda. “Hey you,” you greet as you lean on the wall near the door. “How's your night going?”
“It’s going alright,” Wanda says as she puts the clean dishes away. “Did Pietro already tell you?”
“Yeah,” you say sadly. Someone asks if there’s a line and you shake your head and point to the phone. You move a little further away from the door. “How bummed are you about it?”
Wanda sighs, “Pretty bummed but the boys are home tonight so I can’t drink about it. Which is for the best. Don’t want to start that bad habit.” She starts to wipe down her counters. “What are you up to?”
“Nothing much, just having dinner with an old friend,” you say as you glance around the wall to see if Daisy is okay. She looks bored and picks up her phone.
“Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry for interrupting,” Wanda says.
“Don’t be,” you assure her, “I could have not answered, you know? It’s not your fault.”
“That’s true,” she drags out the word in confusion. “Do you need me to come up with an excuse for you? I can have you out of there so fast, no questions asked.”
You laugh at the offer, “No, it’s uh, it’s going.” You notice Daisy checking her watch and looking around the restaurant. You sigh as you figure that you’ve been away for too long. Are you avoiding her? You don’t know. “Which I probably should too. I think I’ve been gone too long, I don’t want her to think I’ve ditched her.”
“Oh my goodness! You’re on a date!” Wanda gasps loudly. “You’re an idiot, go back to her. Don’t tell her you took a phone call either. Just say it was an embarrassing bathroom issue or something just… shit, hang up already!”
You can’t help but laugh at Wanda as she rambles on, “Arlight, I’ll tell her all about my explosive bathroom episode.” Wanda makes a noise but tells you that it's perfect. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” you say as you end the call and walk back to the table. You feel guilty when Daisy’s eyes shine with relief and so you start rubbing your stomach. “I don’t want to be gross but that food went right through me!” You joke and Daisy laughs telling you that it’s fine. “So, are you thinking about having dessert here or should we go somewhere else?”
Daisy hums in thought and reaches across the table for your hand which you allow her to take, “Depends, do you have any dessert at your place?” she asks flirtatiously, almost causing you to have a coughing fit.
You clear your throat a couple of times as you start to avoid her gaze a bit in order to come up with a proper response. An easy let down that will have her laughing instead of feeling rejected. “Well, I don’t know whatever lies Steve might have told you, but I don’t put out on the first date.” Daisy is confused for a second before she bursts out laughing. You join her a little as you’re able to look at her again.
“Ok, I have to admit. I was kind of testing you with that question and you passed with flying colors,” she says once she has settled down, you let her know that it’s a relief. “I’ve heard of this twenty-for seven cupcake ATM machine and I’ve been dying to try it but haven’t had the chance. Do you think we could do that?”
“Absolutely! Rachel loves that thing,” you say as you start to flag down the waiter to get some to-go boxes for the rest of the food on yours and hers plates. When the bill is settled, you and Daisy head over to the nearest cupcake ATM and you help her learn how to use the machine. She takes videos to share on her social media and even a few pictures with you to keep for herself. You don’t ask why she doesn’t post them because you’re happy to not have that conversation right now. The two of you walk and talk while you eat your cupcakes. She is a bit more relaxed and you have to admit that so are you.
When the date has come to an end, you walk her to her door and wish her a goodnight. “Wait,” she stops you from leaving. “I know you don’t put out on a first date, except for Steve Rogers apparently,” you laugh a little at her statement. “But um, gosh I’ve never had to ask this before.” Daisy blinks a few times before gathering up the courage to ask, “Will you kiss me before you leave?”
You are surprised by the request but it is a date after all. “Yeah, sorry,” you say as you step closer to her. This was weird, you’ve never been asked to kiss someone unless there was tension and right now there wasn’t any. You close your eyes as you lean in and kiss her on the lips. It turns out to be a decent kiss but it doesn’t have you craving more. It’s been a long time since you’ve craved someone. At this point you’re convinced it’s just you because Daisy goes in for more when you try to break away. You kiss her once more to try and clear your head but it still doesn't feel right, so you really take a step back. “I have an early day tomorrow, I’m sorry. I’ll let you know when I’m available next.”
“Okay, yeah,” Daisy nods as she wipes her lips. “I’ll see you then. Or maybe you could stop by the Hub. We don't always have to see each other for dates, you know.” You agree and say that you'll try to stop by without promising too much. “Have a good week with Rachel.” She says with a sweet smile.
“Thank you, I will,” you smile back and walk away.
The next morning you go to Jean’s house to pick up Rachel. While you're waiting, you chat with Jean for a bit about nothing important until you notice her acting a little funny. You ask her what's up. “Nothing, nothing, I don't know anything about anything.”
You shake your head and ask in a low tone to keep Rachel from hearing, “Great, who told you about my date?”
“No one,” she says as she fails to hold back her grin and you ask again. “Okay, it was Anna,” she confesses. You drop your head as you shake it again. “In her defense, it's your fault that you chose my favorite restaurant to take her to.”
“Excuse you, I believe I won that restaurant in the divorce,” you say back lightly instead of reminding her that it was your favorite restaurant first.
“Whatever, I was craving it last night and so we got a pick up order and she saw you when she was picking it up,” Jean finished the story. “She’s cute,” she says next and you take a slow breath.
“She took a picture?” you rub your face, upset by the lack of privacy in your life lately. You never signed up to be a celebrity.
“What? You think I was just going to believe her when she said that? I needed proof!” Jean exclaims, causing you to tell her to quiet down. “Sorry,” she grimaces. The both of you wait to hear any sign of Rachel before continuing. “So, how'd it go?”
“It went,” you reply.
Jean rolls her eyes, “Come on, you can do better than that!”
You sigh and sit up as you think about how to describe the date to your ex-wife. “It was good. A little bit awkward. She’s had a crush on me since she was seventeen, so it's-”
“Hold on what,” Jean stops you with concern and fear in her eyes.
“Oh! Sorry, she's twenty-two, completely legal. Um, remember Phil's daughter? She used to babysit Rach before she went off to college?” You try to jog Jean’s memory and it takes her a second to process. She pulls her phone out to look at the picture again and she starts to finally recognize her.
“Oh?” she says as she straightens up and scowls at the picture. “She looks… grown up,” she says slowly.
“Yeah well, she asked me out and Kate kind of encouraged me to say yes. Then I talked to Phil about it and he seemed to be somewhat okay about it,” you clear your throat as you shift uncomfortably from the lack of playfulness from Jean. “It’s not weird… is it?”
Jean shakes her head, “Just, please tell me that you didn't find her attractive when we had her babysit for us when we were doing couples therapy.”
You pinch your eyebrows together and frown, a little offended by the accusation. “I didn't know her when we were married,” you state first as you try to remember that first year that you worked at the bar. You know that you started there at twenty-one but you don't remember hiring Daisy then or even meeting her. Did you?
“Well, that's kind of a relief, ” Jean mutters. “You got the job working for her dad to help us pay the therapy bills remember? And he offered for Daisy to watch Rachel when we needed,” now she is trying to jog your memory but as you've pointed out before, you don't really like to think back on that year. You shake your head as you come up blank. Is Daisy a year younger than you originally thought she was when you met her? The math isn't really holding up here.
“That doesn't make sense, she said that she had a crush on me when she was seventeen. When we met,” you say. “She would be twenty-one now if we met when I was twenty-one.” You try to understand what Jean is saying.
“Honey, her birthday is July second, she turned twenty-two only weeks ago. And you’ll be turning…” she draws out the end to let you catch up.
“Twenty-eight this year,” you conclude as it all starts to make sense now. “Huh, I really should have paid more attention in school.” Jean laughs because she tried every year to get you to focus more on school instead of her or the next get rich fast scheme you always had cooking up. “Anyway, I wasn’t paying attention to her in that way back then, I promise. It’s still kind of hard for me to think of her in that way. Except it’s not like I still see her as a kid I just think I see her as more of a friend,” you explain.
Jean nods, “So it didn’t go well.”
“I wouldn’t,” before you can say anything else, Rachel is running towards you with the things she wanted to bring with her. “Hey, munchkin!” You rise and greet her with a tight hug. She hugs you back just as tight and it warms your heart knowing that your daughter loves you. “Are you ready? Because we have to get to Ms. Wanda’s a little earlier today.”
“Yup, all ready! I have something I really want to show Billy and Tommy,” she says as she moves her bag around. “That’s what took me so long. Sorry, I needed to get it done before we left. I’ve been working on it all week.” You smile, impressed that she worked all week on something to show her friends.
“It’s okay, I got to catch up with mommy,” you say as you tug one of the shoulder straps on her bag. “Do I get to see what you made?”
“No,” she shakes her head before she turns around and opens the front door. “Let’s go!” She hops to your work truck and climbs in.
You laugh and look at Jean, “Have you seen it?”
She shakes her head, “Nope, she wouldn’t let me or Anna in her room because of it.”
“Wow,” you look at her from the entryway of the home and she is sticking her head out of the window calling for you to hurry up. “I can’t believe it, ten-years-old and she already has secrets from us.”
Jean shrugs, “It was bound to happen sooner or later.”
“I know but I was hoping for later. Much, much later,” you say as you wipe fake tears. Jean pushes your arm as she calls you ridiculous, you smile as you pull her in for a half hug. “I better go. I’ll see you next week.” She rubs your back and pats you a couple of times.
“You better update me on your whole cradle robbing situation,” she teases you.
“I should have seen that coming,” you walk away as she calls you a few more names, making you laugh all the way to the truck. Rachel asks what’s so funny. “Your mom is a weirdo,” you say. Rachel agrees and then says that momma Anna is even weirder and you have to refrain from laughing by telling her that’s not nice. She says it’s true and you cut the conversation by playing her music on the car stereo.
You and Pietro work fast in rebuilding the wall so that Wanda doesn't get into too much trouble with the representative from the homeowners association. It was turning out to be easier putting it back together than it was tearing it down. Of course though, now you don't have to worry about removing the wrong thing and causing the entire house to collapse. Everyone lucked out that you and Pietro hadn't started on expanding the floor yet. That would have been a little more difficult to fix up in the short window of time that Wanda was given.
When lunch comes you and Pietro scarf the food down in order to keep working. Especially since the new siding for the house got delivered to the job site across town and the two of you had to go pick it up. The original siding for the house was destroyed the previous weekend when the two of you finally made it that far. Pietro thought it would be best to order new material at the time anyway since they would need it to cover the new extension of the house.
All day you and Pietro are working inside and outside of the house to get the wall repaired with the material that you have available at the moment. Unfortunately, the beams that are needed in order to continue won't arrive until tomorrow. Which means that you are heading home earlier than expected. You slowly walk up the stairs to warn Rachel that you're packing up to leave but when you get close to the boy's room, you overhear them talking about some sort of plan.
You take a small peek into the room through the crack in the door that should have been wide open. Rachel was holding up a notebook as if she was presenting to the boys sitting in front of her. That's possibly what she was working on. You try to get a better look by opening the door a little more but it knocks over a noisy toy and causes the four kids to scatter and pretend to look normal. You give Rachel a weird look as she asks you if you're done working. You confirm and then leave her to collect her things so that you can do the same.
“Hey,” Wanda calls as you pass her office on the way back to the stairs.  “Do you have a second?” You look around to be certain that she's talking to you before you approach. She isn't on the phone and no one else is in the hall, so it could only be you.
“Uh, sure,” you say as you step closer. You didn't get to interact much with Wanda today and you couldn't tell if it was you avoiding her or her avoiding you. Last night after the awkward kiss with Daisy, you couldn't help but compare how you wanted to kiss Wanda the night before. Then you started to think that maybe if you got to kiss her, maybe it would feel right. But you couldn't test that theory out yet. Not when you're in too deep with Daisy.
“Just for some peace of mind,” Wanda closes her laptop and focuses her attention on you. “And I don't want to make things awkward between us by saying this but, I feel like it kind of needs to be addressed.” Her rambling has you a little concerned but you let her continue. “I know we've said it to other people but I don't think we've really said it to each other. Um, we are just friends, right?”
There is a slight pain in your chest when she says that but it's the truth. “Of course,” you say confidently. “Yeah, we're just friends,” you state again, this time with an unintentional undertone of disappointment. You clear your throat and look back before stepping in the office a little more. “Why did you feel like that needed clarification?” You ask, against your better judgment.
Wanda looks around her desk as if she wrote the answer somewhere but not a single blueprint can help her. “No reason it's just, I don't know… well, so many people assume things and I just want to make sure we're on the same page. Yeah, that's it. Just, I don't know. Forget I asked,” you don't press for more because you can tell that part of her might feel the way that part of you feels but you aren't quite sure what to do with that feeling.
“Okay, well, we're done for the day, I was about to-”
“How was your date?” she interrupts and your eyebrows shoot up as your mouth shuts.
“Uh it was okay,” you say. You're not used to so many people knowing about your dating life. “I don't see a wedding anytime soon but it was good. We'll probably try to go out again when I don't have Rachel.”
Wanda nods, “That’s fun, that's fun. How um, how long have you been seeing her?”
“Yesterday was our first date, actually you met her. She was the waitress at the, ehem, the bar we met up at,” you say awkwardly. It feels like the two of you are trying to be friends. This conversation doesn't feel as natural as any other conversation.
“I remember her,” she is a little disappointed that you chose someone younger but it's not her life. She might only be feeling this way because her ex-husband cheated on her with a college student.
“Yeah, um,” you start to explain yourself once again but Rachel runs to your side and grabs your hand asking if you're ready to go. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” you tell Wanda who stands from her desk and walks over to you and Rachel to give proper goodbyes. She hugs both of you separately and thanks you for all of your help. You finally make your way downstairs and decide to leave the tools since Pietro already put away the dangerous ones.
You leave the home conflicted by the conversation with Wanda but by the time you get home, you decide to not read into it too much. The two of you are friends and that's all you will ever be.
On Wednesday, the representative from the homeowners association arrives in the early afternoon to inspect the house. On Sunday you and Pietro were so close to finishing the wall but it was going to take another day or two. Wanda was fine with explaining to whoever she had to that it was going to be fine.
She was starting to get fired up again about it being her house so she should be allowed to do as she pleased. Especially when she received an email explaining that the appointment was rescheduled due to them wanting the entire house inspected. Which meant that she had to make sure the house was spotless. Especially the former man cave which she hasn't seen since Pietro destroyed everything. She hadn't known that you and him already cleaned up the mess until she made her way down there.
The space needed some dusting and vacuuming but beyond that, it was clean. Luckily Pietro only trashed the stuff in the boxes that didn't include the furniture or the television. So the room still looked pretty decent, better even without all of the junk on the walls.
As Wanda guided the woman around the house after she assessed the wall, she noticed that the woman was being a little bit flirty towards her. She wasn't sure if she was making it up or if she was misreading some of the woman's remarks. But Wanda was kind of into it. She hadn't been with a woman since her sophomore year of college. Raven Darkholme lived a couple doors down from hers and the two found themselves being left in the common area and locked out of their rooms often. One thing led to another and they dated for a solid six months before Wanda met Vision while taking his class.
“I don't see any issues here, Mrs. St-”
“Actually it's Ms. Maximoff,” Wanda corrects. “I’m not married anymore,” she adds although she wasn't sure if that was necessary information.
“My apologies, Ms. Maximoff,” the woman smiles and looks her up and down before continuing. “As I was saying, other than the obvious incident with the wall which you said you're having repaired, I don't see why my visit was necessary. But I can't deny that I'm not happy to be here.”
Wanda is starting to realize that it isn't in her head at all. “I must admit, I wasn't too thrilled about today, Ms. Romanoff. But it's been a relief knowing that my house is up to the HOA’s standards.”
“Look, I know that this is totally inappropriate and unprofessional but um…” the inspector grabs one of her business cards and scribbles down her personal phone number. “Call me, if you're interested in letting me inspect you.” She says flirtatiously as she hands Wanda the card. The brunette blushes as she tries to hide her grin. That was quite a line.
“I will keep that in mind, but you should know. I'm a mo-”
“Mother of two boys? Yeah, we covered that when we walked around upstairs,” she finishes Wanda’s sentence.
Wanda laughs as she is flustered, “Right, sorry, I'm just. Sorry, this hasn't happened to me in um years.”
“I find that hard to believe,” Natasha says. The two stand in the living room space staring at each other until the blonde's watch goes off, reminding her of her next appointment. “I better get going. I have another inspection in fifteen minutes. I'll let the board know that you're clear and that they don't need to send anything else. Call the business number on there when you have the wall finished and I'll send the paperwork to the board so that they'll leave you alone.”
“Thank you, I really appreciate that,” Wanda says carefully.
“It's my pleasure,” Natasha says as they walk to the front door together. “I hope to hear from you soon.” The woman walks away and this is one time that Wanda is relieved that her boys aren't here with her to witness that interaction. She shuts her front door and bites her bottom lip as she looks at the phone number on the card. Natasha even drew a little heart above the number. Maybe she is ready to start putting herself out there. This just wasn't what she ever imagined.

achilles heel - I: Ben's Sister
Tumblr media
summary:
Grace is the very opposite of her brother in every way. when she finally moves onto campus at UNC Chapel Hill, she feels like she gets to be her own person, make her own friends, and hopefully start a promising career in the museum industry, and maybe, one day, get married to her high school sweetheart and live the American dream for herself. Rafe Cameron however, upon their very first meeting, throws a wrench in her very perfect plan.
tags/warnings:
rafe cameron x fem!oc, rafe is giving very much homewrecker, fanon!rafe (kinda), college!au, friends to lovers, slow-burn (maybe?), minimal oc description, drug and alcohol use, mostly unedited, (these tags are not exhaustive, lmk if i should add anything!)

B: i'll be at the caf in 10 if you want to grab breakfast before class
Her phone buzzes twice in quick succession as the screen lights up on the table in front of her. She leans over to read it, putting down her coffee mug and rolling her eyes slightly to herself. Grace had already eaten the same thing she always does, being frozen strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast, and is finishing up her first of several cups of coffee for the day when she receives this text from her brother.
g: okay, back table in the corner
She sends her quick reply and goes back to what she was doing, pretending to read her textbook and hoping to absorb at least the key points before her eight am class. So far, this method has worked well for her. Only one semester down so far, but with a 3.91 GPA, Grace is feeling pretty good about her academic career.
Her brother, Ben, on the other hand, got into the same school on a scholarship for soccer, and Grace is pretty positive he's only doing the same degree as her so she can tutor him while he lives in a frat house. Which he very promptly moved into after orientation, leaving Grace on campus alone, and she didn't mind it one bit. Having some space from her brother and her parents for the first time has been amazing.
Grace looks up as her disheveled-looking brother slides into the seat across from her at the table, practically throwing his plate down. She removes her headphones to hear what he's saying. "Huh?" She asks, prompting him to repeat himself.
"I said..." He draws it out, clearly frustrated his sister didn't listen. "You're already reading that? It's only the second class."
"Oh, well yeah, they're assigned readings for a reason." Grace replies, putting in her bookmark and closing the book, shoving it in the bag at her feet before looking back at her twin brother. He looks like he just rolled out of bed, which, of course, he did.
"Right. Give me the summary then, yeah?" He asks through a mouthful of cinnamon and sugar toast.
Grace sighs a little. "So, basically, there's this guy, totally a dick." She begins to explain and Ben nods, but he's already looking down at his phone. "So he shoots this elephant, right, and then someone else shoots him, and then that's how the third world war started."
"Wait, what? Really?" Ben asks, his attention suddenly drawn back to her.
"No. There was no World War III, dumbass." She replied flatly, crossing her arms over her chest. "Do you even know what this course is about?"
"Not yet but that's why I'm here isn't it?" Ben chuckles, taking another bite of his toast and instantly chasing it down with his orange juice.
Grace cringes a little as she watches that. "Not exactly..." She replies, looking down at her watch. "We have fifteen minutes. We should probably go, we have to get all the way across campus."
Ben nods and shoves the rest of his one piece of toast in his mouth and picks up the other to carry with them while they grab their bags and clean up the table.
No one really knows what it is about the first week of the semester, but Grace, as well as every other girl she's seen so far, has fallen victim to the idea that you need to look put together and organized knowing damn well that by two weeks from now, she'll be showing up in pyjamas. But today, for the time being, she's actually wearing jeans and makeup to class.
They walk across the beautiful campus that overlooks the city from a hill. It's January, but the sun is rising and there's hardly any snow left on the ground, not that there ever was much to begin with at UNC. Grace grips her coffee cup with both hands to try and warm them- it was probably an oversight to leave her gloves back in her dorm.
They make it inside and find their classroom, walking in and looking around, scanning to see open seats. Grace's eye lands on a table with two seats that no one is sitting at, and makes a beeline for it, placing her bag down before realizing her brother isn't at her side anymore.
"Hey, man, how's it going?" She hears as she looks back over her shoulder, seeing her brother grabbing the hand of a boy sitting in the back row. She sighs and sits down as he sits in the back with someone she's assuming he knows from his frat or soccer or something,
"I'm pretty good. Don't know why I took an eight am but here I am I guess." Ben's friend, Rafe, says as Ben takes a seat next to him.
"Honestly, same." Ben laughs slightly, pulling his laptop out of his bag and placing it on the desk.
"Hey, uh..." Rafe starts, leaning closer to his friend and lowering his voice. "Who's that girl you came in with?"
"Why?" Ben asks, taking on a defensive tone as he digs around in his bag, looking for his textbook.
Rafe instantly shakes his head, leaning back in his seat. "Just wondering." He says quickly, looking forward at the long-haired girl sitting a few rows in front of them. "I didn't know you had a girl- I just thought you would have told the team."
"What? I don't." Ben looks up at him to see his friend staring at his sister. "That's just Grace. My sister." He admits, leaning back in his chair as well.
Oh, his sister. Rafe thinks to himself, nodding slightly in response to his friend, that was now watching him, watching his sister. Time to look away. "You have a sister?"
"Uh, yeah, dude."
"You never talk about her," Rafe says, glancing back at her.
"Not much to say I guess." Ben shrugs in response. "Uh, we're twins, I don't know she likes to read apparently. She's a history major, she lives here on campus. I don't know what really there is to add."
"Oh, really? I was thinking of doing history."
Ben laughs. "Dude, as if Ward would ever let you even think about taking anything other than business. Pretty much the only thing you can do with history is write or teach, that's boring as hell."
Rafe sighs, he knows Ben is probably right. "I mean, like, I wouldn't hate that. At least it would be my choice."
"Yeah, I mean, whatever you want man. Why not, right? Being a prof makes bangin money too. People respect you and shit-" Ben rambles on but Rafe isn't really listening. His eyes are trained again on the girl sitting closer to the front of the room, as her hair cascades over her shoulders when she leans forward more, writing something down in a notebook.
"Right?" His thoughts are interrupted.
"Oh, yeah, totally." Rafe nods, completely unaware of what his friend was talking about by now.
"Okay, so we've got some new faces in here today." A man who Rafe assumes to be the prof says, clapping his hands together to get everyone's attention as the room quiets down. "You, in the back there. You missed introductions on Monday, so basically we all shared our names, our majors, and what year we're in if you'd like to share as well."
He's looking dead on at Rafe in the back, and everyone's heads turn to look at him. "I, yeah, sure. I'm Rafe, uh, this is my first year, so I haven't made any big decisions yet, but I'm thinking about majoring in history." He says, making eye contact with Grace and giving her a slight smile.
"Right, yes, Rafe Cameron. You're on the soccer team with Ben here. Your dad is Ward, right?" The prof asks and Rafe nods.
"Yes sir."
"I've met your father, he's a really nice man, hey?" He grins and Rafe nods again slightly in response, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "Anyway, let's get started, shall we? Did everyone get the readings done?"
——
Grace gets up at the end of class, placing everything in her bag and her headphones back in, assuming that her brother would take off with his friend.
"Shouldn't we wait for Grace?" Rafe asks Ben as his friend turns to the door.
"Nah, I'll talk to her later." He shrugs in response. "Come on- we've got practice this afternoon and I want to have a nap first."
"Hold on one sec," Rafe replies, holding his hand up at his friend signaling for him to wait, and watching as Grace turns around evidently surprised to see them still standing there looking at her- waiting.
"Oh, hi." She says, removing one of her headphones.
"What did you think of the first real lecture? Did you write down every word?" Ben asks her and she laughs a little.
"No, but I'm glad we're getting into something interesting at least." She replies, avoiding eye contact with his friend, who's watching her intently.
"Hey, uh, I'm Rafe, by the way." He says to her before Ben can get a word in.
Grace looks briefly at her brother, who is staring at Rafe with an indecipherable look on his face. "I'm Grace." She says, looking back at her brother's friend and smiling politely. "You said you want to take history? That's my plan too." She adds, making an effort to move the conversation along so they don't just all stand there staring at each other.
"Yeah, I mean, maybe. My dad wants me to take business because he owns a company and I'll have to take it over eventually and all that crap." Rafe shrugs as the three of them head for the door.
Grace nods at that, shoving her hands in her pockets as they walk out the door and down the hall. "My boyfriend was supposed to take business too, or that was originally his plan in high school. He decided to go into chemical and electrical engineering instead and he's loving it, but I guess it's a bit different than your situation but I still think it's important to do what you want, not what other people want you to do." She shrugs, as Rafe looks at her brother, giving him a 'what the fuck, man?' expression.
Ben raises an eyebrow at him, the silent exchange finished with his confusion, and Rafe quickly continues his conversation with the girl who wasn't watching them, eyes straight ahead as she walked. "Yeah, I guess you're right. My plan right now is to sell it as soon as my name's on it, so my degree won't really matter."
"Yeah, you probably don't need a degree in business for that." She agrees, laughing slightly as she shakes her head.
As the three approach the end of the hall, Rafe takes a few quick steps forward to grab the door, and Ben smiles at him, laughing slightly and patting him on the shoulder as he walks through. "Thanks, bro." He steps outside, leaving Rafe to stare at the girl who took a turn down the hall instead of following them out.
"Not going back to dorms?" He asks her, making her turn as she continues to walk backward staying with the flow of other students.
"I have a class in C building in ten minutes- this way is much faster. It was nice meeting you!" Grace smiles with a slight wave, popping her headphone back in as she turns around and continues down the hall. Rafe smiles back and raises his hand in a quick wave, sighing as he's stuck holding the door for a few more people before he can follow Ben.
"Dude, you didn't think to tell me she has a boyfriend?" Rafe asks, jogging slightly to catch up with his friend.
"Sorry, didn't think you'd be into my sister. Didn't think it mattered- that's not like, the most important thing about her, you know." Ben scoffs, shaking his head.
"Well, of course not. Would've been nice to know, though." Rafe grumbles, adjusting his bag on his shoulder.
"You're not hooking up with my sister. Listen, even if she wasn't dating that loser I wouldn't let you. That's like, fucked up." Ben says sternly. "What would you say if I said I was into Sarah, huh?"
"Dude- gross. She's like, seventeen." Rafe shakes his head, scrunching up his nose at the thought.
"Exactly." Ben agrees.
"Okay, well, that's different."
"You're digging yourself deeper and deeper man- you've just got to let it go." Ben insists, turning to walk towards his car on the opposite side of the parking lot from where Rafe parked his bike. "I'll see you at home!" He shouts back.
"See ya'," Rafe replies, walking in the opposite direction. He pulls the other side of his backpack over his shoulder, holding tightly onto the straps as he makes his way back to where he parked his bike- completely unaware that he was being watched through an upstairs window in C building by his friend's sister.

I LOVED UR THOUGHTS ON GHOST WITH A S/O WHO HAD ABUSIVE PARENTS IN THEIR PAST PLEASE ELABORATE!!!
I'm glad you asked anon, I might make a fic based of this but let me ramble.
Also reader can be civilian or soldier doesn't matter.
I feel like this has 3 major factors.
Reader's relationship with their parents.
Reader's relationship with Ghost.
How much trust between the two parties.
Let's be honest, Ghost isn't gonna tell you his past, not if your in a very long time relationship with him.
You need to have patience to be with that man.
However, I feel as though this would definitely hurt both you and Ghost.
One because you want to make sure this doesn't trigger him. Second of it, your hurt. You want to tell someone you love, your pain but you don't know how he'll react.
Overall it's a sticky situation.
---------------------------------
Scenario #1 - Reader doesn't know his backstory and loves her parents TW/ verbal abuse
He's going to find out eventually, especially with mannerisms and certain factors. Like observation skills, emotions etc. But the biggest nail of coffin is your own reluctancy to talk about yourself. I think he would find out on accident but it gives confirmation on what he's been thinking. Like one day, he came home earlier then expected and your on phone. And your father is just screaming at you, saying your a disappointment, he didn't raise his child like this. His voice is slurred, he's drunk. And you just stand their and take it. Ghost, is definitely hurt you didn't tell him, but he doesn't blame you. He would either, quietly end the call for you, or he'll grab the phone and tell back ending the call on an angry note to defend you. Before engulfing you in a hug.
Scenario #2 - Reader loves their parents and knows his backstory.
Reader would be very, very unsure. They are worried for him and worried for their parents. As a poc person myself. This happens to alot of kids. Not all poc of course but it's definitely a factor. I think the reader is just scared this would trigger him, like they're keeping it away from him for his sake. And it unintentionally hurts him because it feels like your being very secretive. Especially if you ramble loving things about your parents but at the same time , you don't want them to meet him. Like you would make him wait in the car dropping off your parents things etc. Honestly he would probably confront you about it. And you just give in and explained to him why.
Scenario #3 Reader hates her parents, doesn't know his backstory. TW/ physical abuse.
Reader doesn't want him involved at all. There's a lot of back and forth between your parents. You feel as it's something you must do alone etc. I think he figures this one out faster, when he watches you get slapped by your dad or mother Infront of him when they drove over to you house . It does give him a slight flash back and this one, he's the quickest to anger. Like he straight up punches your dad off the porch pissed off. And you have to calm him down.
------------------------------------------------------
Those are scenarios I can think of on top of my head but that's the gist of it.
I hope this explains my thoughts though! Thank you for the ask!

So like after making that I think Steven's tragedy is overlooked confession I realised it isn't just him but also everyone else . Including Jack & Dave the most popular characters in this fandom
So like Dee. She was a child. I think around 6 years old. Idk but Im sure she wasn't even 10. And she also died in her birthday??. So like imagine being so young going to a pizzeria to celebrate your birthday, and then, you get killed by a pink fuck, in a place you thought was supposed to be fun and harmless children entertainment fun. And then said pink fuck, FORCES your soul in an animatronic. So like you spend decades, trying to save other children so they won't end up like you. Jesus, she tried her hardest to save other children, to help give them their happiest day that was taken away from them at such young ages. But it was a cycle of failure. She couldn't save them. She was still, a child, like them. A child that was forced to mature at such young age. Can only do much. It's so fucking tragic. I love her I rlly wanna hug her.
Peter. People seem to say that he abandoned Dee and Jack. But I don't think he did. He just moved on with his wife. That's kinda what married people do. Just because he wasn't there, doesn't mean he outright abandoned them. If he had. I don't think Jack would had run off to his place for help after his and Dee's death. Or that Henry's line about his family dying just to get away from him, and that he meant more as a phone guy than he did to his family when he was alive. Would had affected him, if he actually tried getting away from them. He feels bad for not being there for them. I don't blame him. He was a working man. He probably COULDN'T be there at Dee's party cause of work. Fazbender's is a shit ass place to work at anyway. He still blames himself. For his family falling apart. For leaving. He spent many years slaved at Freddy's while also having flashbacks/memories when he was alive. Sounds awful. His suicidal outburst in the evil route isn't talked about enough. He wanted to die. If it meant he'd see Caroline again. Oof
Even Jack and Dave's tragedies are overlooked.
Dave's backstory is so messed that it actually makes me sick in my stomach. No kidding. (Not saying it's bad or anything) So I'd prefer to not talk too much about it. Hope you understand .But in a nutshell. It's about someone who never had any kind of love growing up desperately trying to get the approval/love of the people he loves. And even considers family. So much that he's willing to take any kind of abuse, fucked up experiments, manipulation and literally killing him. To be with them. Cause he never had any love. He thinks they care for him. And that's enough for him to literally cheat death and posses his own corpse, over, and over, and over again. Just to be with them. That he was willing to murder. For them. Cause they told him he was doing good. Jesus. It's messed up.
Jack's own tragedy, and blackjack's, he lost his parents and was left as an orphan to take care of his sister at an actually young age. I think he was in his 19-20s when that happened. In fact Im sure he wasn't even old enough to drink on the state he lives in. Which I think already explains how messed up his mental health actually was. And then one day he messed up. He left Dee and that led to her death. He tried to find her, to save her. It cost him his own life. He was dead, soulless, people didn't saw him as human. They knew him as the ' scary orange man/guy'. But he made a promise. It's sad, one of the very few times he's actually acknowledged as human. Is the dsaf 3 good ending. Aka where he literally did everything for everyone knowing that in the end he couldn't pass on and get his own happiest day. And blackjack's regret. It was so strong that it gave him the power to go back in time. Just cause his guilt to turn back the clock and save Dee was that strong.
I think people should start seeing dsaf as something more than just "haha funny orange and aubergine guys have sex in Vegas". There are so many other things to it than davesport. For a series that's as much of a shitpost as dsaf. It's actually filled with angst. And so much potential only for the fandom to focus only on one part of it.
Anyway hi.
Can you guys that I like angst by now?

NaRae fell asleep two hours after you got there, she’d explained in detail how she was taking her regular route home, your parents house not being too far from her own to make the commute on foot when she was pushed against a wall on a dingy slip road and had the pictures snatched from her bag.
You’d reassured her that you weren’t mad, not at her anyway. It was a difficult situation and if anything you were truly angry with whoever was doing this. You couldn’t let the attack on Narae go amiss but there wasn’t much that could be done as of right now. Involving the police would only bring unwanted attention to the situation, it could jeopardise your job, your career, NaRae, and your parents not to mention the members themselves.
It would be a lie to say you’d slept well, the entire night you’d sat up, watching out of your window trying to piece together who was doing this, if it truly was a random fan how would they know about Jung-woo?
You shivered at the thought of it being him, although NaRae seemed to think it wasn’t, not believing the man brave enough to risk more jail time by breaching his restraining order. You’d quickly busied yourself with writing whatever you could, admittedly it wasn’t much, but you wanted to distract yourself, unable to sleep and thinking about the worst thing that ever happened to you certainly wasn’t something you wanted to do.
The hours passed quickly and soon enough you were dabbing concealer under your eyes trying to cover the bags forming from your restless night. The taxi ride was a quick one, traffic being clear.
In all honesty, everything was quite a blur, you had texted NaRae continuously all morning even sending her a food delivery gift card so she could buy herself breakfast. A sickening ball of guilt pooled in your stomach at the thought of someone you loved being hurt because of you.
You force yourself to will the thoughts away when you see Hoseok and Yoongi standing in the lobby, talking to the receptionist.
They both greeted you as you joined them, the receptionist's face going from happy to sour at the sight of you. Clearly, someone was jealous. Hoseok seemed to notice and dropped the smile he had worn with her, visibly irritated by the disgusted looks she shot you as she checked you in.
“How are you?” You asked them both as you walked to the elevator, waiting for the people inside to leave before the three of you entered the empty space.
“I’m good.” Yoongi nodded, he was always short-spoken but never rude and you appreciated that.
“I’m okay.” Hoseok seemed happier today, the stress he had been exhibiting the past few days seemed to have lessened. “Going with Hyung now to finish a song.”
“That’s good.” You were genuinely happy to hear everything coming together nicely. “What’s-“
Thud.
A screeching noise had all three of you covering your ears with your hands, your ID card and phone falling to the floor as the elevator shook.
“What’s happening?” Hoseok asked, his voice shaky.
The screeching noise continued before the elevator dropped, far too fast. It was at that moment you knew something was wrong.
“Lay down on your back right now.” You shouted to them both. “Put your arms over your face.” You followed your own instructions as they did, all three of you cramped lying on your backs in the small space.
The elevator was still falling, everything happening so fast before it abruptly came to a stop, all three of you jolting upwards.
All you could hear for a few seconds, seconds that felt like hours, was the laboured breathing of Yoongi and Hoseok beside you. You felt your own heart thinking against your chest, if you weren’t lying down you’d be shaking.
“Is everyone okay?” Yoongi asked from his position closest to the doors.
You took a moment to think, nothing hurt. “Yeah, I’m okay.”
“I’m fucking terrified.” Hoseok spat out. “I can’t do this Hyung.”
“I know hope-ah, it will be okay. Hyung is going to press the emergency button okay?” Yoongi carefully slid closer to the panel, his body lifting just a little to hit the red “HELP” button.
“What’s wrong?” You nudge Hoseok, genuinely worried about the way the man has his eyes closed shut, the grip on his shirt so tight his knuckles have gone white.
“I have a fear- fear of elevators.” He gasped, chest resting and falling far too fast.
You knew how close he was to having a panic attack, your eye caught Yoongi who too seemed to be aware of the current situation.
Yoongi opened his mouth but the intercom inside the elevator went off, someone talking. “The elevator has malfunctioned, we have called for help they will be here soon. Try not to move much, it may cause it to drop down completely. You’re on floor 5 so do not move, do not stand, a drop from this height could be fatal if you do. ”
“At least someone is coming to help us.” Hoseok muttered out, none of you mentioning the warning of possible death. “Hyung I can’t do this.”
“You can hoba, come on this is nothing compared to some things we have done. Let’s just lay here and talk, try taking deep breaths.” Yoongi was calm, much calmer than you felt considering your current predicament but secretly you were grateful for his ability to remain clear-headed, although you weren’t panicking as much as you were scared.
“YN? You’re quiet are you okay?” Yoongi asked, peeking over Hoseok just a little. You suddenly realised just how small the space truly was when Hoseok also turned his head to look at you, his eyes meeting yours instantly. “Yn?” Hoseok whispered too.
You nodded, forcing a smile as best you could. “I’m okay just scared.”
“The fire department will be here soon.” Hosoek reassured you, putting his own fears to the side to comfort you. “Right Hyung?”
“Yeah, we should distract ourselves, what did you all do yesterday?” Yoongi asked and you bristled at that, you didn’t want to think about the night spent cradling NaRae's face in your lap after helping clean the cuts and scrapes over her face and hands. You couldn’t help but feel sick at the thought that you could die here and NaRae could be hurt again, Your parents could be stalked whoever is doing this clearly knows their address, even if you do live what’s so say they don’t have yours. It was like a bucket of ice-cold water had been dumped over you.
“I need my phone.” You explained, cutting off whoever was talking, you’d apologise later right now you had to text NaRae, warn her, maybe warn your parents, if you died at least they would know. “In the corner by the door, can you reach it Yoongi-ssi?”
“What’s wrong?” Hoseok asked at the same time Yoongi mumbled “Let me see.”
Yoongi could in fact reach the device, pulling it closer with his foot before holding it out to you, the screen had cracked and just your luck it wouldn’t turn on. “Fuck.” You cursed under your breath, tears welling up under your eyes.
“Yn?” Hoseoks's frown deepened at the sound of your sniffles. “Are you hurt?”
“N-no.” You hiccuped, voice barely above a whisper. “We might die.”
“Don’t say that.” Hoseok had a horrified look on his face. “We will get out of here.”
You wanted to agree, to comfort the man who was so clearly scared, even if Yoongi wasn’t showing it you were sure he was scared too but you couldn’t, all you could think about was someone you loved being hurt because of you and you no longer being here to tell them. It was a bad idea to tell anyone, and it was an awful idea to tell the members but they were the only people here, if you died at least one of them may live, and one of them may be able to make sure whoever is stalking and threatening you and those you love won’t actually hurt anyone.
You took a deep breath, preparing for any questions. “I have a stalker and I’m not sure who it is.”
“What?” They both gasped in unison.
Hoseoks hand brushed against yours and without thinking you linked your pinkies together. “I have a stalker, it started with phone calls, yesterday they sent pictures of me with you and the other members to my parents’ house, my friend was there and found them before my parents could but she was attacked on the way home. I spent the day yesterday cleaning her cuts and trying to help her feel safe. They don’t want me around you.”The elevator fell into silence as you give them a moment to process what you’ve said.
“Shit.” Was the first thing that came from Yoongis mouth, you turned to look at Hoseok who had his jaw clenched, was he angry?
“How long?” Hoseok asked, finger tightening around yours. “When did it start?”
“It started with the whole translating thing, basically the whole time I worked here. They knew some personal things, things no one else knows…” You trailed off sparing them the details of the issue of jung-woo. “If something happens here, if I die in here and you live then please tell my parents they have to move. They aren’t safe at home anymore.”
“Don’t say that, don’t say things like that.” Yoongi interjected. “You aren’t going to die, none of us are.”
“Please Yoongi-ssi. I need to know my family will be okay.” You were grateful for Hoseok being between you, the sounds of your tears were embarrassing enough.
“If anything happens, which it won’t, I will personally make sure your parents are safe.” Hoseok looks at you with such a determination it can only be taken as a promise. “Have you gone to the police? Reported it to the company? It could be a sasaeng.”
“No, no I can’t do that. If I do it will just get worse, they said they would tell people personal things if I do. I can figure out who it is, I just need a little time.” You really had no idea where to start looking but you didn’t tell them that, truthfully you felt awful telling them something like this and then swearing them to secrecy but you didn’t see any other options available to you.
“We can’t keep this a secret, YN-ssi. It may be someone who has stalked us, we have had our fair share of encounters. We can help, the company can help.” Yoongi sounded sincere, sounded like he genuinely wanted to help.
You remembered NaRaes’ detailed explanation of the photos. “They have pictures of me inside the building, it must be someone who has access enough to take pictures of me with you all. They have the addresses of those I care about, at this point, I’m unsure if they know my address.”
Yoongi jolts upward, only stopping himself when he remembers where he is. “They have pictures of us.”
“So it could be a staff member.” Hoseok supplies.
Yoongi sighs. “That’s all the more reason to tell management. Who knows what kind of picture they have of us hoba, what if they have pictures of the others? Personal information? Relationship information? We have a lot to lose.”
“Hyung.” Hoseok paused, finally realising just how bad the situation had been. “You really think that?”
“Yes.” Yoongi nodded. “We have to protect ourselves. I’m sorry YN but I can’t sacrifice everyone and everything I care about for you.”
You didn’t say anything, Yoongis's words sounded so bitter, that you hated the way you instantly felt less than them. Of course, what they needed was more important than you, You were never blind to that fact but you hadn’t expected for them to both disregard the danger you and your family plus NaRae would be in if they did.
“We will tell Sejin once we get out. YN can you come? He will need to hear first-hand from you what happened, I know after everything today it’s probably too much but they need to know so they can stop any information about us being released or scandals happening. I promise you we will make sure you don’t get fired, you haven’t done anything anyway as long as you’re honest with him.” Yoongi is lying down once again, out of your eyesight and you are glad he is, otherwise, he may have noticed the sad scowl across your face. You shifted your head enough to look at the wall away, turned enough so Hoseok couldn’t see your frown.
Logically you understood they had more to lose, their image, and their lives could be ruined if someone had caught the wrong conversation. Although you could lose your job it would be nothing compared to the scandal that could happen if someone leaked important information about BTS. It didn’t matter that you had people who were at risk, at least not against important people.
Hoseok went to say something, whatever it was you weren’t entirely sure. A noise outside had you all a little startled before a voice started. “The fire department has arrived, we will begin to remove you now. Stay still until we can get the doors open.”
“Thank Fuck.” Yoongi huffed.

Got long, below the cut :)
[A quote about feelings]
Lexi: "I have a lot of feelings...they all are pretty intense. Every emotion is like that for me. When I'm happy, I'm ecstatic, exhilarated. When I'm sad, it's like I'm depressed. I get just a little stressed and my anxiety flares up, and I start crying. It's a lot, honestly."
Maddie: "Feelings are fine and cool, I guess. I like my feelings toward Lexi and Kelsey. Don't really like my feelings toward someone like Brycen. Not sure how I feel for others, though. They like me, which is cool. I dunno. Feelings are super weird."
Ash: "I think I'm starting to understand feelings of others better now that I've discovered my telepathy. It's interesting, seeing how I experience other's emotions. It gets a little metaphorical. Fascinating stuff."
Gwen: "I mean, Lexi was once upset and I was sent to comfort her because I was apparently the most empathetic there. I'd say I'm in touch with my emotions. I get a little too emotional at times. I hold back a lot more than people think, though."
Robbie: "Dude, feelings are kinda dope. Like our brain just feels sad and our chest physically hurts. Doctors can't explain it. [Pause] Okay, both of my parents are doctors and they kinda can, but it's cool regardless."
Akash: "Huh. Well, it's important to feel feelings, and it took me a while to face them. I'm good now, though. I think it's important to face them."
Jedi: [silent for too long] "Well, *rubs back of neck* "I like to...think of myself as someone in touch with his own emotions...."...*nods*
Carmen: "No."
[A quote about their thoughts on NFTs and/or cryptocurrency]
None of these guys would like it but this is a fun prompt!
Lexi: "Isn't crypto a scam? I don't like the idea of that. Just stick to regular money."
Maddie: "NFTs don't make any sense. Just right-click the image. Downloaded."
Ash: "Honestly, I feel like owning an image sounds fun in a silly way, but I'm not that reckless with my money. Would rather spend it on tangible things."
Gwen: "I'm uncomfortable with the idea of people charging you to own an image, fake money or not. I mean, why not make actual art?"
Robbie: "Oh my God did you see the NFT ape movie? Dude, it's so bad. I can't believe there are people this stupid."
Akash: "Not only is it unethical, it literally makes no sense. The money isn't real? Why would you do that? Like, have you looked at the value of crypto?"
Jedi: [intently listening to someone explain crypto and NFTs] "Well, now that is just ridiculous. How in the world do they expect to regulate that?" [A few more minutes of baffled rambling]
Carmen: [also had to have someone explain it to her, but she interrupted more] "Are you kidding me?! Is stupidity a common genetic trait among Ceters?!" [More ranting]
[A quote about remembering the ones they lost]
Well uh I'm not gonna go into any major spoilers so I'm gonna expand the meaning to more than just death.
Um, gradually gets sadder because my first few have not experienced their main trauma yet >:)
Lexi: "Oh, I had so many friends in elementary school! I mean, I still have a lot of friends, but I miss those who went off to different intermediate schools. It's okay, though! I found them on social media, and a couple had phones by fifth grade. I should totally hook up with them again! Thanks for asking!!"
Maddie: "I guess Brycen. He was my friend before he became a jerk. I would like to be friends with him again. Like, then him before he was a jerk."
Ash: "I miss the friendship I had with Shelby. I don't know why, it was literally only for a week or two. But there was...something about her friendship that sucked me in. I still have Lexi, so I think I'll be okay. Then there's my ex-stepdad, Frank. He was sometimes fun. Toward the end he became rude. Before that, though. I miss when I felt like he was a dad, I guess."
Gwen: "My grandfather died when I was very young. He was amazing, though, and I am just glad I remember him. He read stories to me and played with me. And then there's my cat, who we lost a few months ago. She was really sick. I still miss her."
Robbie: "God, I miss Lalika, Akash's mom. She was basically a second mom to me. I talked so fast around her as a kid. She was just starting to learn English when we met, so I don't know if she got everything, but she would always smile and laugh when I did, paying attention to my emotions so she could respond appropriately. But I also loved to read aloud my favorite books to her, so I helped in that regard I guess. She went to all my plays. She made sure to get something for my birthday, and Sam's, separate from Akash's gift. She was amazing."
Akash: "My mom. Every day, I miss her. It's...hard to move past it, I guess. She would listen to you. I still remember her songs that she'd sing, and I still listen to them. She loved taking pictures and filming everything, which I am so grateful for now. She fought for me, when the school district dug their heels in about something. Made sure I had everything I needed to succeed. She was the best."
Jedi: "My mother fought for me my entire life. She pushed to get me an accelerated academic program, fought to drag me and my sister to a better place where I could thrive. Fought my father when he...let us say, went too far. She was fiercely protective. I owe her my life. I just wish I could have repaid her."
Carmen: *scoffs* "I knew Atsila my whole life. Why wouldn't I miss her?" [Yeah sorry that's all you're getting out of her]

Hi. After following a hyperfixation rabbit hole (thank you, ADHD and Autism) I have been wondering if I have AvPD. I've been obsessively researching it for a while now, and it would make a lot of sense for the struggles i've been facing that just aren't really explained by my other diagnoses but also aren't really *normal* per se, but I'm scared I'm wrong or just looking for something else to be "wrong" (i put wrong in quotes bc i dont think any disability/mental illness is actually something wrong, but that's how a lot of the people around me perceive it) with me so I feel like my suffering is more valid. My thoughts and hang ups are this:
I feel like my avoidance isn't severe enough to qualify (also me: hasn't made a follow-up appointment with either my neurologist or psychiatrist bc the idea of making the phone call "wrong" is crushing; changes the time I eat lunch so I don't have to either ask to sit with the people I know would let me sit with them bc they consider me or a friend or have them see me sitting alone even tho I literally like them and want them to be my friends; still haven't applied for my college housing accoms that I literally need bc I'm too scared i'll get turned down; feels crushing embarrassment even existing in the same space as my roommate; has a grand total of 1 friend)
It could just be my social anxiety/autism/agoraphobia. I feel like none of these really explain how deeply I feel rejection (my best friend was too busy to eat dinner with me like we usually do bc finals season and I nearly threw up bc of how much it hurt, and I ended up in tears for almost an hour) or just how crushingly embarrassing I find being perceived by others/existing to be (I literally can't make phone calls unless I'm locked in my dorm without my roommate there because I feel like people will judge me for doing a normal human activity like answering my mom's phone call; can't brush my teeth in the morning bc what if people see and only do it at night when most of the dorm hall is asleep), the constant reassurance I need from people (I'm constantly asking my best friend (only friend really) if I'm annoying them/too much work/going to get left by them/actually welcome to hang out with them).
I also wonder if my self-esteem is too high since I know low self-esteem is a key part of AvPD? I don't feel like I'm inferior academically/intelligence wise, hell I'm kind of arrogant in that respect, but also feel like I'm not good enough/interesting enough/pretty enough/funny enough for someone to want to be around me and have struggled with suicidal ideation because of it. I sometimes (by that I mean almost weekly) have meltdowns where I end up just wallowing in my own self-hatred for hours and ignoring people's texts/my homework bc I feel like i'm not good enough to have friends/long term partners.
I'm also not particularly quiet when I *am* in social situations. I tend to blurt out whatever's on my mind, even though I immediately regret it 99.9999% of the time, and my ADHD impulsivity results in me interrupting people a lot even tho it makes me feel like a horrible person. I always feel like I've overshared to everyone (tho my best friend, the only person I can be around all the time and not have a meltdown, says I actually under-share and should open up more to people).
I don't have any childhood trauma that could have caused it, at least I don't think? Like. My parents are amazing, they've always been there for me emotionally and physically. I was kind of bullied in pre-school through elementary school (people would take stuff from my bag and throw it and make me "fetch like a dog," I was really short so they'd hold stuff out of my reach) and never really had friends in middle school, just these three girls who let me hang out with them when I was around but would ignore my texts a lot, not invite me places they were going, etc, and after I moved away just before high school i didn't really bother to try making friends bc even tho i was lonely it just didn't seem like it was worth it bc they wouldn't like me anyway and I was just gonna go to college soon and they'd leave me then but none of that's really traumatizing?
I don't know. I feel like it really fits but also like if it were actually a big enough problem to qualify as a personality disorder my therapist would have caught it by now? And I'm scared to bring it up bc if she thinks i'm wrong i'll probably never want to talk to her again bc i'd be so embarrassed. Sorry, this was really long. If you actually read all of this, I guess I just want to ask if you think it's even possible I could have it.
i'll give you the short answer first: yes, it's absolutely possible that you could have it. i can't tell you if you do or not, but i can tell you that all of the doubts you mentioned are things i've personally struggled with while figuring my avpd out.
i'll put a much more in-depth answer addressing each of your concerns under the cut:
I'm scared I'm wrong
here's the thing: being wrong doesn't hurt anyone. people will act like researching your own potential diagnoses and coming to the wrong conclusion is the end of the world, but the reality is, there's very little actual harm that could come from a self-misdiagnosis.
with a clinical diagnosis, if the doctor is wrong, that could end with consequences like taking the wrong medication or doing therapies that do more harm than good to you. but just doing your own research and coming to your own conclusion? the worst that happens is you use the wrong word for a while and then eventually realize it doesn't fit as well as you thought it did, or you ask a doctor about it and they decide it's not a good fit and (if they're a good doctor) help guide you toward a more accurate explanation of what you're experiencing. either way, there's no harm done!
or just looking for something else to be "wrong" with me so I feel like my suffering is more valid
here's the thing: whether avpd is the answer or not, you're suffering. and if you're suffering and you want to better understand why that's happening, you're allowed to do that! your suffering is valid whether there's a name attached to it or not, but that doesn't mean it's wrong to want a name for it. it's only natural to want to understand why you feel the way you do and find people like you.
and if you're worried about a "psychology student syndrome" kind of thing – that you might just be projecting symptoms onto yourself that you don't really experience – the best thing you can do for that is to take some time to really look at yourself and your life and see if you see those things taking place. don't worry about if they're "as bad" as other people's; if you see examples of those things in your life and you're suffering because of them, that's all it takes to know you're genuinely experiencing it.
I feel like my avoidance isn't severe enough to qualify
it seems like you already know this on some level, but yeah, all of the things you listed after this sentence absolutely sound like some pretty significant avoidance to me. again, i can't tell you if it's avpd or not, but those do sound like the kinds of things i would count toward my own self-diagnosis if it were me.
there's no hard line of how severe your avoidance has to be, or any real way to objectively measure severity in the first place. if those things are getting in the way of you living your life and/or causing you to suffer emotionally, that means they're bad enough to be taken into consideration.
the secret is, almost no one feels like what they're experiencing is bad enough. i've had times in my life where my avoidance literally almost killed me, and i still wonder if it's "bad enough". don't let that imposter syndrome feeling stop you from better understanding your brain and getting the support you need.
It could just be my social anxiety/autism/agoraphobia. I feel like none of these really explain how deeply I feel rejection or just how crushingly embarrassing I find being perceived by others/existing to be, the constant reassurance I need from people.
this feeling was actually exactly what started me on the path that led to me realizing i had avpd. i knew that i was autistic and socially anxious, and i thought for a long time that those explained what i was experiencing, but the more i interacted with people around me who were also socially anxious autistics, the more i realized i was dealing with something none of them seemed to understand.
and all of the things you described – intense emotional dysregulation caused by rejection and embarrassment and needing constant reassurance to function in social situations – are classic avpd things. so i would say, if your gut tells you those things aren't being explained well enough by the words you already have to describe yourself, avpd is definitely worth considering.
I don't feel like I'm inferior academically/intelligence wise, hell I'm kind of arrogant in that respect, but also feel like I'm not good enough/interesting enough/pretty enough/funny enough for someone to want to be around me and have struggled with suicidal ideation because of it. I sometimes (by that I mean almost weekly) have meltdowns where I end up just wallowing in my own self-hatred for hours and ignoring people's texts/my homework bc I feel like i'm not good enough to have friends/long term partners.
hey, you're talking to the guy who's not just avoidant but also a narcissist. avpd can absolutely coexist with being highly confident (or even overconfident) in certain parts of yourself.
it also sounds like that confidence is an exception to the rule. feeling like you're "not X enough" for other people to the point of having self-isolation spirals or suicidal ideation because of it are really common forms of low self-esteem in avpd. if you ever here an avoidant refer to having an "avpd spiral" or "shame spiral", the experience they're talking about is a lot like what you described.
I'm also not particularly quiet when I *am* in social situations. I tend to blurt out whatever's on my mind, even though I immediately regret it 99.9999% of the time, and my ADHD impulsivity results in me interrupting people a lot even tho it makes me feel like a horrible person. I always feel like I've overshared to everyone
the stereotype of avpd is a super shy and quiet person, and some of us definitely are like that (myself included), but not all avoidants are. there are some who mask their avoidance by coming off as incredibly social and talking to people a lot, and others who (like you described) talk a lot even if they don't want to because of other aspects of their neurotype.
i think those feelings of regret and shame that you feel in response to what you're saying are really the important thing here. those internal experiences are much more fundamental to what avpd is than how they present externally, so the fact that you're experiencing them means i definitely wouldn't count avpd out just because you're not as quiet as some of us are.
I don't have any childhood trauma that could have caused it, at least I don't think? Like. My parents are amazing, they've always been there for me emotionally and physically. I was kind of bullied in pre-school through elementary school and never really had friends in middle school, just these three girls who let me hang out with them when I was around but would ignore my texts a lot, not invite me places they were going, etc
first of all, a history of trauma isn't actually required to have avpd. it's often assumed that personality disorders are also trauma disorders because they are often associated with trauma, but there's nothing suggesting that's always the case.
there's also research that has shown some people are born predisposed to avpd. it tends to cluster in families along with social anxiety, suggesting there's some sort of heritable aspect, and some research suggests avpd might start in childhood with a person having a nervous system that's naturally hypersensitive to certain triggers.
it's also important to remember that the kinds of trauma that can lead to something like avpd aren't always things we would look at as obvious trauma. for example, one paper i found said that a possible form of trauma that could lead to avpd is having an overprotective parent – the parent projects their fears onto the child and, despite just trying to keep them safe out of genuine love and care, ends up teaching their child that the world is dangerous. we might not look at that kind of parenting and automatically see it as traumatizing, and it's hard to fault that parent for trying to keep their child safe, bu the result for the child is the same. especially if we are born with more sensitive nervous systems than the average person, things that seem totally mundane could have a significant impact on how our brains develop.
all of that to say, it is possible that the experiences you described –being bullied in school and excluded by your friends – had enough of an impact to cause the struggles you're experiencing now, even if they don't feel like trauma. it's also possible that they're unrelated, because avpd (if that is what you're experiencing) can develop even in the absence of trauma.
I feel like it really fits but also like if it were actually a big enough problem to qualify as a personality disorder my therapist would have caught it by now?
you'd be surprised what therapists don't catch, especially if there's a much more common and less "scary" label (like social anxiety) that can, on the surface, explain away what you're experiencing. i've been seeing my therapist for 8 or 9 years now and she's very aware of my avoidant tendencies, including how much they get in the way of my life, but she still never brought up avpd with me. whether it’s because they just don’t hear about avpd enough to think of it, because they avoid diagnosing personality in general, because they don’t know “do with” avpd and would rather assume it’s something they do know how to handle, or because they think avpd is just another word for severe social anxiety, a lot of therapists will see all the signs of avpd in a patient but never actually bring up avpd as a possibility.
at the end of the day, you know better than anyone how much of a problem these struggles are for you. if you think this really could be the explanation, don't worry about what she did or didn't catch. therapists aren't infallible; they're human, and they can miss things.
I'm scared to bring it up bc if she thinks i'm wrong i'll probably never want to talk to her again bc i'd be so embarrassed
i 100% get that fear. i actually had that happen to me with my therapist – i brought up a few theories of mine to her, she shot them all down, and i ended up stopping our sessions and eventually going to a different therapist for a while because i felt like i couldn't trust her anymore. ultimately, i went back to her (mostly because the second therapist was an incredibly condescending asshole and my parents didn’t know of any other options), but i honestly still haven't brought avpd up to her to this day because of that.
so i can't blame you at all, and it's okay if you feel like you need to work up to bringing this up with her. try doing some more research and getting more confident in your theory so you feel like you can explain it well to her, and maybe even put together a collection of the evidence you have for it – examples of how you feel like you exhibit the symptoms, things like that – so you have something to hand to her instead of having to explain it on the spot. once you've looked into it more on your own, you can reevaluate how confident you feel in the theory and decide if it's time to talk to her.
in the meantime, you could try testing the waters to see how she might respond to you bringing up a theory. there are some therapists who are super against patients doing their own research and having their own ideas about what's going on, so it’s good to know if your therapist is one of those people ahead of time instead of finding out the hard way.
i would also recommend telling her that exact fear if/when you do bring this up to her. that sentiment of "one somewhat negative interaction is all it takes for my embarrassment to be so bad that i can never talk to you again" is a really common thing with avpd, and is one of the reasons a lot of avoidants struggle with therapy. so being honest about that fear can both help her understand that she needs to be cautious in her approach if she does disagree with you and could actually make her more likely to agree.
I guess I just want to ask if you think it's even possible I could have it.
so yeah, like i said at the beginning of this, i think it's very possible that you could have avpd. i can't tell you for sure, but pretty much everything you've described here sounds very familiar to me as an avoidant person, so at the very least i think it's definitely worth looking into further and seeing if it continues to feel accurate as you learn more.
i hope this helps! and whether you end up concluding that you're avoidant or that there's something else going on, i hope you're able to find the understanding and support that you need.

"I can't feel my legs, I swear."
"C'mon, Dec. You are a professional athlete" I laugh.
"I swear it, Eleanor. I can't. Running up and down a beach in Scotland is torture."
"Well, now you know what to expect when the MI6 goes after you when my parents find out we are seeing each other."
"Ha ha ha, you are so funny."
"We are here, ma'am" David says.
"I gotta go, I just made it to my own torture" I sigh.
"Promise me that you won't do anything stupid."
"Without you? Never" I smile.
"Sophie..." Declan says.
"I'll keep an eye on her, don't worry."
"What? I am the big sister. I should be keeping an eye on you!"
"Sorry, sis" she shrugs.
"It is what it is" Declan says. "I'll call you tonight, ok?"
"Ok."
"Goodbye, Eleanor."
"By... Holy shit!" I yelp when someone knocks on my window.
"Girls! What are you still doing in the car? Come on!" my mum says.
"Ready to spend two weeks with Charles and mum and dad saying how perfect he is?" Sophie asks.
"Ready" I say, taking a deep breath and putting on a fake smile before opening the car's door.
"Oh, Eleanor!" Charles' mum says when she sees me, giving me a kiss on each cheek. "You are glowing, look at you!"
"Thank you, Camille."
"It's all that Mediterranean sun from the past couple of weeks" my mum says. "The one in Canada isn't the same."
"She's also been eating really well, haven’t you, sis? Lots of rice" Sophie says next to me, trying not to laugh.
"We actually are having paella for lunch today!" Charles' mum chuckles. "Come, let's go inside. I'm sure you want to refresh yourselves."
"Thank you" I say again, giving Sophie a murderous look before following Camille.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Good morning, Eleanor."
"Good... Wait, where is everyone?" I ask when I walk into the dining room.
"Our mums have gone shopping, and our dads and Sophie have gone to check some old cars" Charles explains.
"Sophie? She doesn't like cars."
"I don't know, that's what I was told" he shrugs.
"What about David?"
"He's with our mums."
"Oh dear, poor man."
"Yeah" he chuckles.
"So they all have left, and it is just you and I?" I say, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Yep. And I know what you are thinking, that they did it on purpose."
"Because they did it on purpose" I say, rolling my eyes.
"But we don't have to spend time together if you don't want to. I know you are seeing someone and I don’t want to make it awkward for you."
"You know what?"
"I've seen you texting and the way you smile at the phone. You are definitely talking with someone you fancy. But don't worry, I won't say a word."
"You better, Charles" I say, trying to use my queen voice as Declan called it.
"I won't" he repeats. "But I was thinking that maybe we could take the boat out? We could go for a swim and then sail to Nice and have lunch there, do some shopping... I don't know, it is a glorious day to just stay here doing nothing."
"And how do I know that this isn’t part of their plan? Your plan?"
"It is not, I promise" he says, putting his hand on his chest. "I just want to be friends like we used to.”
“Just friends.”
“Yes, just friends” he repeats. “C´mon, Eleanor. You always loved it when we went sailing."
"I did, yeah…" I say, thinking about it. "Ok, let's do it. But I swear, Charles. If you try anything, I'm pushing you from the boat."
"Ok, I'll behave" he laughs. "Though seeing you in a bikini won't make it easy."
"Charles..."
"I'll behave, your Royal Highness. I promise."
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"Hello, you” I smile
"Hello, Eleanor” Declan says over facetime. “How was Nice?"
"It was lovely, thank... Wait. How do you know I went to Nice? We haven't talked since yesterday's morning."
"You don't know?"
"Know what?"
"Eleanor, you and Charles are on the Daily Mail."
"We what?" I say, sitting up on my bed probably way too fast since everything around me starts moving.
"The Princess and her on and off boyfriend" Declan snorts.
"That's... That's not possible. I didn't see paparazzis anywhere."
"Maybe because you were too busy laughing with Charles" he says, trying to say his name with a French accent.
"We weren't... Dec, are you jealous?" I chuckle.
"No" he says, looking anywhere but at me.
"Declan..."
"Ok, fine, yes. I'm jealous. It isn't a nice feeling seeing the girl you like having fun and being all cosy with her ex, one who also happens to be stupidly handsome.”
"I don't know what photos they posted, but we weren't cosy. Nothing happened with Charles, I promise. Our parents and maybe himself were wishing for the opposite, but nothing happened."
“Nothing?”
“Nothing” I insist. “We are just friends the same way I am with Mason.”
"I guess I now understand what you felt when you saw me with Lilith” he sighs.
“Have you heard from her again?” I ask.
“Nope. She got the message the last time I spoke with her.”
“Did you use your West Ham’s captaing voice with her?” I chuckle.
“Oh, I did. Though it isn’t as scary as your queen one. You need to give me some tips, your Royal Highness” Declan smirks.
“I’ll be my pleasure, Declan Rice” I giggle.
"Looking forward to it. And I think they are calling me" he says when someone knocks on his door.
"Wait, before you go. Is everything between us is ok?”
"Why wouldn’t it?”
“Because of Charles and those photos” I say, biting my lip.
“Everything is fine, Eleanor" he says, looking me in the eyes even if it is through a screen. “And stop biting your lip like that when I am not here to do it myself.”
"Ok” I laugh. “Will you call me tonight, then?"
"I will, I promise. Now go do whatever it is you posh people do. Like going on a yacht or take your Ferrari out for a spin.”
“That’s Charles, not me. I am going to have breakfast with everyone else, maybe ask them what they now about those photos, and then play tennis with my dad. ”
“Don’t be too hars on them. Especially your mum. And don’t get mad if you lose the game, I know you don’t like the feeling” Declan smirks.
“Neither do you, Rice” I say, sticking out my tongue. “Call me tonight, ok?”
"I will. Goodbye, Eleanor" he says with a big grin.
"Bye" I reply, looking at the screen with a stupid smile even after he has hung up.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"So... no one is going to say anything?" I ask while we all have breakfast.
"About what?" my dad asks.
"About Charles and I being on the Daily Mail, of course."
"Oh, that" my mum chuckles.
"Yes, that. Was it your idea? Did you call them?"
"Eleanor!" my dad says.
"Are you going to deny that all of you suddenly finding something to do and leaving me alone with Charles wasn't on purpose?"
"I was just a coincidence" she says.
"Yeah, of course" I reply, rolling my eyes and counting to ten before speaking again. "Mum... You need to stop."
"Stop what?"
"This! Forcing me to get back with Charles!"
"I'm doing nothing!"
"Mum!" I say, hitting the table and spilling some of my coffee. "Sorry, Camille."
"It's ok" she whispers, her eyes fixed on the table.
"Mum, if you think that by setting me up with Charles I'm gonna fall in love with him again, you are wrong. That only has the opposite effect, and I'm gonna end up hating him."
"Don't be ridiculous" she snorts.
"I'm being serious, mum. Listen" I say, taking a deep breath. Don’t be too hars on them. Especially your mum, Declan’s voice says in my head. "If Charles and I are meant to be together like you all say we are, then destiny will make it happen one way or another. Just don't push it. Let's just have our usual family vacation and not care about anything else."
"She... She's right, Letizia" my dad says, taking her hand on his. "Let's enjoy our holidays and let them be. If it has to happen, it will."
"I also agree with her" Charles says.
"So now you all believe in destiny?" she laughs.
"You always say that destiny is what brought us together" my dad smiles.
"Ok, fine" she sighs. "I won't do anything."
"Thank you, mum" I say, getting up from my seat and giving her a hug.
"Ok, that's enough" she complains.
"What? No! I also want a hug!" Sophie says, getting up from her sit and hugging her.
"Family hug!" my dad says, joining us.
"Ok, ok" my mum chuckles. "I love you."
"We love you too" I smile.

Chrissy doesn't have the best relationship with her parents. Not any more, at least. In fact, it's gotten so bad lately that she's considering spending the holidays in her dorm room, alone.
Her hallmates have started getting on flights and trains in dribs and drabs, and it's just under a week before Christmas day when she finally caves. She calls Eddie.
"I haven't heard from you in a little while." He says when he picks up the phone. It's casual and light, but she can hear concern beneath the surface. Perhaps disappointment, too.
"How've you been?"
"Good." She lies.
Eddie invites her to come stay with him for Christmas, and she of course declines the offer as many times as she thinks is polite. When Eddie insists for the fifth time, she says yes.
The bone-crushing hug she gives him when he comes to pick her up a few days later is as good as any apology, good as any Christmas gift, and they both come away from it feeling dizzy and relieved.
"Missed you." She mumbles into his shoulder.
"Could've picked up the phone."
"I'm sorry."
The drive down the snowy highway is mostly silent.
"I thought you didn't wanna talk to me any more."
He whispers it into her hair, in the dark, later. They're lying in bed, listening to the wind and the trailer creak. "When you didn't return my calls I thought - I thought I did something wrong, I-"
"You didn't do anything." She says quickly.
Chrissy doesn't know how to explain to him that she feels all wrong again. Maybe even worse than in school. Doesn't know how to say that she's terrified of telling the truth about how lonely she's been feeling. That sometimes, she thinks she'd rather push him away than admit that she doesn't want to spend the holidays alone.
-----
She's embarrassed when she realises she's never really thought about what Christmas might look like for someone like Eddie. She'd suspected that she was in for something pretty different from the hallmarkesque holidays of her own childhood, but what she isn't prepared for is how nice that is.
The night Eddie brings her home they drive around the rich neighbourhoods and look at all the pretty Christmas lights. Wayne's quiet but nice. He teaches her how to make paper chains from old newspapers and magazines, and he doesn't ask her any questions. He doesn't care what they get up to as long as nobody plays the music too loud and they let him sleep when he gets home from his shift. They watch movies and they go for walks, and Chrissy knows that if she didn't feel like moving from the sofa the whole week no-one would force her.
Eddie rolls a joint and they smoke it in the snow, sat on garden furniture and surrounded by the other trailers, lit up in red and green with holiday lights.
"I don't feel it yet." Chrissy says, teeth chattering. "Why don't I feel high yet?"
Eddie laughs.
"It's 'cause we're out in the cold," he says, gently, pulling the joint back out from between her teeth. "It'll hit you when you get back into the warm."
And he's right. They collapse on the sofa in a heap and spend the afternoon giggling at TV commercials.
-----
Max Mayfield stops by one morning and asks if Eddie can take care of her dog while she and her mom go to her aunt's for Christmas. Her jaw drops when Chrissy steps out from behind Eddie in fluffy slippers and a big t-shirt, but she covers it up pretty quickly.
"It's uhh, good to see you, Chrissy." She says politely, shooting Eddie a quizzical smile before she leaves.
Chrissy fights a laugh.
Eddie's still getting used to being seen with her so publicly.
On Christmas Eve they pile into a local bar and see a ton of people they've not seen since high school. Steve Harrington's there, and Jonathan and Nancy, both back from college for the holidays. Graduation suddenly feels like lifetimes ago, and Eddie's only getting nods and smiles, a few hugs, even, from people who tell him it's good to see him. Even Jason gives him a curt nod, raising his beer at him slightly from across the bar. Things are different now.
Chrissy hangs back waiting for her drink to be made at the bar while Eddie talks to some guys he works with at the car repair. When she's finally handed her drink, she brings it over and tucks in next to him, sliding her free hand into his. She rests her cheek on his arm as she listens to the conversations around her.
"You're touching me." Eddie says to her quietly. "In front of everyone."
She smiles up at him.
"Yeah. I am."
Drinks empty and refill again and Steve Harrington's dragging Eddie over to the pool table in the corner. Eddie totally wipes the floor with him and it feels so good to watch.
Chrissy looks on as he teaches Nancy how to hold a pool cue. Seeing him in his element like that, finally having normal, friendly interactions with their former classmates - it makes her chest tight. Watching him making effortless conversation with his workmates about seasonal targets and micro-managing bosses. Watching him standing behind Nancy - who's definitely giving him heart eyes - helping her angle her shot, giving her pointers. She can't even be jealous. It's like he's become this man all of a sudden, while Chrissy's not been looking. Not a boy like Steve. Not even like Jonathan. It's almost unbearable. She just wants to take him home.
It's hours until they're finally squashing into Eddie's small bed, cold hands and feet and noses, condensation dripping down the caravan window.
Chrissy's on him in a second, impatiently pulling off his jeans and underwear.
"I want you in my mouth." She says desperately.
Eddie groans. She's never bold like this.
She puts her tongue on him eagerly, and Eddie lets out a strangled noise.
"You missed me all that time, huh?" He's says in breathless wonder as Chrissy takes him into her throat, his silver-ringed fingers threaded into her hair.
-----
They sleep in late Christmas morning. The present exchange is short and sweet - Chrissy gifts Eddie a record and Wayne a new mug for his collection.
"Sorry it's not much," she explains to Wayne, a little embarrassed. "I didn't know I was coming until a few days ago."
He won't hear any of it, of course.
Wayne buys his nephew new strings for his guitar, and, not quite knowing what a young woman her age would like, hands Chrissy a rose-scented candle.
Eddie buys his uncle a funky tie, and he won't give Chrissy her gift until they're alone, later. He's all red when he hands the little velvet box over, mumbling something about how he's had it a little while, and he knows it's a little cheesy, and he understands if it isn't her thing.
"It's a-"
"I know what it is." She says softly, staring down at the treasure in her hand.
It's a 20-sided dice - Eddie's favourite one. A deep ruby red, slightly marbled and painted with gold numbers. It's set inside a spiral of golden wire, and there's a little pendant loop at the top so it can be threaded onto a necklace.
"Eddie," she whispers.
"I know it's a little dorky-" He starts.
"Did you make this?"
He scratches at his neck, looking slightly to the left of her so he doesn't have to meet her eyes.
"Um, yeah."
"Eddie..."
"You never wear your 86 anymore, so, um. But I know you still have the chain... and I just thought, maybe..."
He trails off.
Chrissy just gets it. He doesn't have to explain. Eddie's given her a piece of him - a piece to keep around her neck, to feel the weight of, even when she's at college and there are state lines between them. It's the most romantic thing she thinks she's ever seen in real life.
"I know you don't play D and D, but-"
"Eddie, shut up." She says. "I love it."
I love you, she thinks, but doesn't say it. She settles for a kiss instead.
-----
Chrissy's agreed to go over to her parents' house for Christmas dinner. Eddie drives her there, holding her hand tight in his the whole way. Her new pendant feels cool and weighty at her throat, makes her feel more grounded.
"It's just a few hours, 'kay? Max." Eddie's coaching her as they round the corner onto her street. "You go in there, you make small talk, you grin and bear it. And stay away from politics."
Dread is rising in her stomach.
"A few hours," he repeats. "And then I'll come and pick you up."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Okay."
He drops her off halfway down the road. Her parents don't exactly know about him; Chrissy doesn't even know what she'd say. They're not in a relationship. She doesn't know how she'd label what they are.
The dinner goes abysmally.
The atmosphere is tense and strained from the second she walks through the door. Her grandmother's quiet, her dad disappointed, shooting her these baleful looks from the end of the table. He didn't approve of her moving so far away for college. Wanted her to stay nice and local so he could keep her in his pocket.
Her mother makes the first comment about her body before they've even finished the soup. Chrissy excuses herself to the bathroom and runs her wrists under the cold tap.
Deep breaths, she thinks. Eddie's voice echos in her head. It's only a few hours.
It's halfway through the turkey when she finally has enough. She's mushing food around with her fork and her mother tells her she's not eating enough and that she's getting too big in almost the same breath. Chrissy pushes her plate away and excuses herself to the bathroom for the second time in an hour.
This time she can't stop herself. It's all coming up. Turkey, potatoes, yams. Cranberry sauce.
She rests her cheek on the porcelain and feels the familiar wave of disgust wash over her. She doesn't cry. It's not a fresh and raw pain any more. It's deep and draining and it's sapping the life out of her. She's had enough.
She thinks about calling Eddie, but she doesn't even know if she can stick out the twenty minutes it would take him to get here. She decides to Irish exit. She doesn't owe any of these people a goodbye.
She leaves through the kitchen so no-one in the sitting area can see her pass by. An uncharacteristic surge of spite stops her in her tracks in the doorway. She doesn't know quite what comes over her, but she's almost in a trance when she turns back on herself and picks up the chocolate yule log, resting untouched on the counter top.
No dessert for you, mom. She thinks to herself.
What a shame.
Calmly, Chrissy gathers up her shoes. She opens the door and steps out into the night.
She walks home in a daze. She barely feels the cold of the December evening, fuelled solely by the adrenaline coursing through her body.
Eddie's jaw drops when he opens the door, and a second time when he notices the log, still in tact on a plate in her hands.
"What the h-" He starts.
Wayne appears over his shoulder and she shakes her head at Eddie frantically.
Don't ask, she tells him telepathically. Not now.
"You're just in time, sweetheart." Wayne says obliviously, letting her into the house. "We were just about to order Chinese food."
-----
"Nice of your parents to send dessert." Wayne says through a hefty bite of sweet and sour chicken.
Chrissy nearly chokes on her food.
Neither Eddie nor Wayne are much of a cook. Her and Eddie had taken the van to pick up Chinese takeout, driving all the way to the other side of town to the only place that was open on Christmas night.
On the way, Chrissie breaks down and tells Eddie everything. About the bulimia. About her mom. She tells him things she's never said out loud before, not to anyone. He listens quietly the whole time, holding onto her hand tight and not letting go even to shift gears. He makes sure that she's done before he speaks.
"You don't ever have to go back there." He says quietly.
And then: "I'm sorry I took you over there. I should've realised."
"It's not your fault. You didn't know."
He looks at her in the dark car, eyes big and round.
"Don't keep things like that from me again." He says, finally.
He's so serious it scares her.
-----
He doesn't insist that she eat any of the Chinese food - he knows that what happened at dinner is still fresh. But he vows to keep an eye on what she's eating from now on.
They lie down on the sofa after dinner, Eddie stuffed and Chrissy feeling fragile, but a little better. She's even been picking at prawn crackers.
"M' gonna take care of you from now on."
Wayne's fallen asleep to an old Christmas movie, and they're sitting and talking in low whispers. Eddie's murmuring reassurance into her hair.
"You never have to go back there." He reminds her again and again. "You can always come here. You'll always have a place to stay."
Eddie kisses her on the forehead and pulls her in closer, and for the first time in a really long time, she feels hopeful.

part one part two part three part four part five part six part seven
Y/N'S POV
"So, were you able to get through to someone to get your car fixed?" Mom asked. I told her the conversation I had over the phone with Eddie and explained that he'd be here first thing in the morning to collect the car and take it to the shop.
"First thing? But they're always swamped with cars on a Saturday. I thought you wouldn't get seen till Sunday, Monday at the latest." Mom said.
"Same here," I attempted to stifle a yawn but failed. "I've to be up early so uh... goodnight." I turned around and walked away.
I was never close with Mom, and then things kicked off with Dad.
I guess it was then I realised I wasn't as close with either of my parents as I had thought.
I padded down the hall towards Dustin's room in my bare feet, the feeling of the cool wood underneath my feet relaxing me with each step. I passed by my room to see Tews sitting on my bed cleaning herself. I hate that cat and I have no idea why my mom loves it so much.
That's not to say all cats are bad, I just don't like this particular cat.
Knocking on Dustin's bedroom, I waited to hear him say "It's open," before opening it slightly and sticking my head around the door.
"Goodnight boys," I smiled at them, all gathered around together talking about god knows what.
Mike, Will and Lucas will always feel like little brothers to me, I've known them so long. It felt weird seeing them as a trio, and a part of me missed seeing Will around the place. I hope he's happy in California.
"Night Y/n!"
"Thanks for letting us stay over!"
"Sleep. Soon." I said pointedly, "Just because you're in high school now does not mean you are to be up all night. You'll just end up being super tired tomorrow."
"But can't we just have-" Dustin started.
"Dustin the last time you had coffee you went nuts. Not happening again under my watch." I said, leaving the room
"Technically we're under Mom's watch," He mumbled back defeatedly.
I stuck my head back around the door, giving him a look that blatantly said 'Really? Moms' watch? Have you ever even met our mother?' before he groaned causing me to laugh as I exited the room.
Sometimes I love to play the authoritative big sister card just to mess with him, it can really piss him off.
I didn't know how what time 'first thing' was, I'm grateful and all but couldn't he be a bit more specific? Either way, I was going to need to get to sleep so I could wake up early. I set my alarm for 7:30 am, which isn't even a time that should exist on a Saturday morning, so I could get up and be ready for when he calls. I had switched off the handbrake and managed to push the car till it was outside my house. Could've done with Robin's freakishly strong arms but she had her Family Video shift, plus I'm fairly sure I earned a few muscles of my own.
Changing into a pair of old biker shorts and an oversized misfits t-shirt, I crawled into my bed and lay on my side, willing sleep to come, but my head was so full of thoughts it was like there was no switching it off. I lay like that until I could hear everyone in bed, and the faint sound of my mother's snoring echoed through the halls.
When I was certain that she was asleep, I snuck out of the house and sat on the swing bench on our porch, curling my knees up to my chest underneath my shirt and resting my head on them.
There was something about the nighttime, the way the town went silent. As a kid, I used to believe that because it was so quiet, everyone would be able to hear the slightest noise you make. On nights like these, I sometimes wonder the same thing.
Except now I know about science and the speed of sound, so the idea is a complete fantasy.
Sitting on the bench, lighting up a cigarette from my stash that kept my hands slightly warm. I looked out at the sky, not seeing a single star. Not seeing anything but the faint glow of the street lamps from down the road. There was a faint breeze that wrapped around my ankles now and again, but other than that it was a warm night, unusually warm for October.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat there until I could see orange streaks beginning to paint the sky. So much for trying to get some sleep. I unfolded myself from the swing and walked to my room, careful not to wake anyone. Checking my alarm clock, I saw that it was 7 am. I could try and get a 30-minute nap in but knowing me, I'd sleep past my alarm.
I took a shower, scrubbing the smell of the night air off my skin. I wanted to stay in the shower, to feel the steam rise around me, but I didn't have the time. I turned off the water, wrapped my hair and body in a towel, and then made my way to my room to start getting ready.
I debated drying my hair but decided I wasn't in the mood to deal with the frizz today (I never am). Pulling on a low-cropped white shirt, black ripped jeans and combat boots, I got changed and grabbed some cereal before sitting on the couch and reading. By the time Eddie pulled up, my hair was almost dry but still damp in places.
The doorbell rang and I looked at my mother, not surprised to find her fawning over that stupid cat once again. I got up and answered the door, a part of me freaking out before remembering why he was here.
"Hi," I said quietly, fear washing over me as I suddenly realised this was my first time talking to Eddie, face to face.
"Hey," he replied equally as sheepish. Was something wrong? Had I done something?
His eyes moved down towards my exposed waistline, and I desperately wanted to grab a hoodie to cover up.
He must've found the shitty brown carpet very fascinating because he couldn't seem to look away from it. "So the truck is parked out front, I've hooked your car up to it and everything, I just need you to come down to the shop to fill out some stuff." He told me. I figured I'd have to go to the mechanics at some stage today, I just didn't think it would be so soon.
"Do you want a coffee or something before we go?" I pointed my thumb towards the kitchen, the mannerisms that my grandmother drilled into me coming into play again. He looked up, our eyes holding each other and suddenly I felt like there was a magnetic in each of his eyes, drawing me in closer.
From where we were standing you could see beside the kitchen, where my mom was sitting there, talking to Tews like it was a human baby.
"Uhm, maybe some other time?" He said, suppressing a grin.
"Yeah sure,"
Had I just 'yeah sure' d the idea of coffee with Eddie Munson?
"I'll grab my mom's car keys, just hang on two seconds." I turned towards the living room where my Mom was sitting, combing the cat with an old comb of mine.
"Um, there's room up the front of the truck if you want to ride up there with me?" He asked me, "It might be a bit easier."
I turned one more time to look at my mother, who was now singing lullabies to this freaky cat before agreeing.
God, I miss Mews. Now that was a cat who did not like to be coddled.
Just as I was about to pull the door behind me, my mother called out. "Remember you're trying on dresses for homecoming this afternoon! We'd better hurry or all the good ones will be sold out!"
My heart dropped and I wanted to strangle her. I prayed to whoever was up there that Eddie hadn't heard her.
I threw my book bag over my shoulder, I never liked to leave home without it. He opened the car door for me and waited till I was in okay before running to check that everything was hooked up properly. While I was waiting for him, I sat noticing all the little details in it. Things like his pack of cigarettes and a lighter, or a few jumbled-up mix-tapes sitting in the glove box and in the pockets on the driver-side door. A black bandana was thrown across the dashboard, most likely the one that Eddie carries around all the time.
What surprised me most was the pack of hair ties hidden underneath his rolling papers. Although I guess when you have as much hair as he does and work as a mechanic, tying it up is more of an occupational precaution.
He opened his door and threw off his coat before jumping in. He grabbed a hair tie and pulled his hair back, and I tried my hardest not to look as every muscle in his arm flexed. Made all the more visible by his grey muscle shirt, his tattoos on full display.
"Buckled up?" He asked me, I nodded as I closed the seat belt around myself. He did the same and then started up the car. He drove with one hand on the wheel and another on the gear stick, right next to my knee. Every so often there'd be a bump in the road and his knuckles would graze against my jeans or my exposed knee, sending off shocks from where he touched me.
The silence was deafening, the only noise coming from the metal music on his radio. It was a bunch of different bands which made me think it was a mix-tape. I was going to say something, compliment the music, but Eddie beat me to the punch before I could open my mouth.
"So, you're going to homecoming?" His eyes were fixed straight ahead on the road. There was a tone to his words that I couldn't quite decipher, almost nervous.
"Um. Yeah," I fidgeted with my hands in my lap. "last year and all that, figured I'd see what all the fuss was about while I still can."
"And uh," His grip on the steering wheel tightened, his eyes unwavering from the road ahead, "and do you have a date?"
My chest tightened and I suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe given the thickness of the air around us.
"No, it's just me and Robin," I said lowering my head, suddenly very fascinated by my hands, "We'll probably both just sit on the bleachers till 10 pm before figuring out some way home."
"Good," he muttered quietly, almost as if he didn't want me to hear him. I had so many questions, but a few stuck out in my mind.
Was he happy I wasn't bringing a date? Or that I wouldn't be dancing?
"Are you going?" Why had I asked that?
"No, it's uh," He chuckled slightly, "Not really my scene,"
I don't know why my blood felt cold and my heart sank as he said this, but they did.
Master of Puppets by Metallica came on, and I started tapping my foot quietly, letting the questions and feelings fade with every strum of the guitar. Dad hated this song, but I always thought it was a good one. Hearing it again after so long caused goosebumps to make their way across my skin.
"Come Crawling Faster,"
I thought I was singing under my breath, but that last line came out louder than expected. I sat there and prayed he hadn't heard me.
"Obey Your Master," He sang back, a smirk plastered on his face.
His voice sent tingles down my spine and makes the hair on my arms stand upright, leaving me with goosebumps all over my skin. He was so close to me that I was almost certain he could feel the tension rising within me.
He looked like he was going to say something, but then we turned onto the gravel path leading up to the mechanics, and the moment was gone.
Why does he make me feel like this, it's not like I have a crush on him or anything. Crushes are for girls in middle school and people with their heads in the clouds.
Maybe it was just because he was helping me out with the car. Yeah, people find plumbers and firefighters hot all the time, it's just because they're providing a service.
Not that I find Eddie hot. I mean he is very attractive, and when he stretches his arms it makes me feel all weird inside, but I am most certainly not attracted to Eddie.
The truck came to a halt outside the workshop. Eddie jumped out of the truck and rushed around to my side just as I was opening the door.
"Here, it's a bit of a step-down. I'll give you a hand." He said. I swung both of my feet out as he held the back of my arm with his large hand, and I would've been fine.
But I'm me, and I have to fill my daily awkward quota.
I started to climb down, my back to Eddie as I side-stepped out of the van, the coldness of his rings sending mini shockwaves from where he held my arm and wrist when my ankle went from under me, making me fall sideways.
I squinted my eyes, sure that I was going to hit the pavement. An absolute goner that was going to end up in the hospital before dying of pure embarrassment. But the ground never came to meet me.
Instead, I was pulled tight against something, a pair of arms wrapped around my back and legs. It felt like all the breath had left my body, and a strong smell of cigarettes and sandalwood filled my nose.
I opened my eyes as Eddie gripped me to his chest, looking down at me as he held me bridal style. I felt my breath hitch in my throat as his dark orbs explored my face.
I don't know if he did it on purpose or not, but he rubbed his finger in circles across my knee where his hand gripped my leg. The air felt electric, almost as if it could shock us both if we moved. His arm was on my back and I was glad it wasn't a few inches lower.
I was almost certain his dark eyes flickered down to my lips and lingered for a second, before quickly returning to look me in the eye.
We looked at each other in silence. I felt his hot breath fan my face and caught the smell of mint.  I was almost certain he was going to say something, but he just cleared his throat.
"Sorry,"
"Are you okay?" He said at the same time as me.
"Oh uh. I'm okay." I stammered through my words, "Thank you."
We looked at each other again, and a small part of me didn't want him to put me down, but that idea was quickly erased from my mind when Eddie cleared his throat again, gradually lowering me till I was on my feet. I could tell that the awkwardness I was feeling was mutual as we both shuffled our feet.
The workshop was on the other side of town, it was a long walk home without the car, and I didn't want to trouble Eddie with driving me home. But it was like he was reading my mind because the next thing he said was,
"You should come in and sit down," He motioned to the desk and chair beside him, piled high with paperwork. "It's supposed to rain on and off all day. I'll drive you home after I take a look at this baby." He unhooks the car from the truck before pushing it into the shop.
"Oh, thanks. You don't have to." I replied, moving towards the desk and placing down my book bag,  desperate to keep the nerves out of my voice.
"My pleasure." He smiled.
He bent into the driver's side, fiddling for something.
"Oh, there's a knack for popping the hood,  here I can-" I started, but before I could finish he had done it, a small grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Eddie looked at me, and suddenly the concrete floor became very interesting, "Just a bit of pressure and some elbow grease should do the trick." He says, climbing back out of the car.
He opens up the hood and takes a look as I sit down and place my bag on my lap. I want to ask if he minds me doing homework, but I don't want to look like I'm ignoring him or being rude.
"Ok so, " he started, and I suddenly felt a drop in my stomach. What if my baby was fucked, and I could never drive her again? What if all she was good for anymore was spare parts? I was so worked up about never being able to drive my girl again that I completely forgot about the guy inspecting her.
My freak out must've been clear on my face because Eddie's face became very soft and gentle,
"Hey, hey, hey, don't worry, it's only a faulty spark plug and wire casings. You're alignments a bit off and your transmission is failing, but it's nothing I can't fix for you. There are some other things here and there that I'll need to get some parts for, and no offence but your car is an older model so it might take a while to get them all." He gave me a small smile, easing my nerves slightly. Eddie sounded like he knew what he was doing, so clearly he did. Right?
"I'll be honest, none of that makes sense," I said, as he walks around and pulls out the chair for me. He's surprisingly chivalrous, opening car doors and pulling out chairs. I don't know what I expected him to be like, but it wasn't this. "I don't think she's ever been looked at after Dad renovated her." I sat in the chair and wonder why I ever thought my dad was a reliable person as Eddie walks into what I assume is a storage closet.
"Here," he says, handing me a radio and a box of tapes that were just around, "Pick out some music, I wanna see what you choose." He had put the car on a lift earlier and was in the process of raising her, a skateboard and toolbox beside him. Once he was happy she was at a reasonable height he dropped to his knees beside the board, then flipped himself over so he was lying flat against it, using it to push himself under the car.
I was flicking through the mix tapes he had when one stood out to me. Dad used to play it for Dustin as a kid, which in hindsight seems a bit weird but at the time it made him laugh and dance like crazy.
Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions started to echo around the building, and I hesitantly pulled out my economics textbook and attempted to try and understand this nonsense they tried to teach us, while Eddie just silently bopped his foot along to the tempo.
Silence passed between us as I attempted to do homework and Eddie tried to fix my car, the only sound surrounding us being the music from Eddie's radio. Once homework was completed I started on a piano lesson plan for Joanna Kelly, a girl who lived down the street from us, I gave her parents a discount given how nice they were to myself and Dustin growing up.
When that was over, I slyly pulled out a math notebook and began to work out my expenses. Eddie could try and sugarcoat it as much as he wants, but I knew this service wasn't going to be cheap. I mean, needing to get replacement parts? It's got to cost at least $2000+, which is definitely more than I make teaching kids how to play twinkle twinkle and three blind mice. I'd landed a job over the summer at the Hawkins Hypnotic Record Store, but only as a way to save up for college.
Now I'll have to apply for scholarships if I want any hope of getting into somewhere decent. That meant taking on more extracurriculars and writing a killer college essay.
Ms Kelly had advertised on the intercom the other week about finding someone to help out in the front office for extra credit. Looks like I was going to be taking her up on it.
I'm barely going to have time to breathe let alone sleep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listening to Eddie banging and crashing around the car had me nervous, but only a small bit. Eddie knew what he was doing, his uncle didn't seem like the kind of guy to give Eddie a job based on familial connections.
Suddenly Eddie comes flying out from under the car, grease and oil covering his face and sweat glistening along his arms, his tattoos practically shining.
I was so wrapped up in my own thoughts about how much this was going to cost me that I didn't even notice him talking to me.
"Hey, Y/n?" He asked with a touch of confusion, "Hellooo?"
My head snapped to look at him, his voice bringing me to my senses.
"Sorry, I was lost in my own mind. Worrying about stuff y'know?"
He rubbed the grease off his face with a cloth and a soft grin, his eyes closed. I took this moment to examine him a bit further. He looked like he had strong arms, and his tattoos were kinda impressive and cool. I heard he paid his friend a 3 months supply of weed, and they did them with a pin and some type of ink.
But I don't know if any of that is real.
"What does a pretty girl like you have to be worrying about?"
Pretty girl.
The words bounced around my stomach before settling between my thighs. I squeezed them together as if on instinct, the words rolling over my skin like waves.
I remained silent, not too sure how to answer that, my mind was blank as I tried to ignore the sudden throbbing I felt.
A few moments pass by and Eddie sits up and looks at me, his hair coming loose from the hair tie.
"Hey, could you pass me the wrench? It's on the counter over there, it's the one with the round-"
"I know what a wrench looks like Eddie, I'll grab it now," I said shuffling around to the counter to look for it, silently loving the way his name felt on my tongue
5, maybe 6 minutes pass, and I've no luck. I had handed him a wrench, but apparently, it wasn't the right wrench. So now I was back staring at a workspace full of stupid tools with stupid names.
I hadn't even heard Eddie come up behind me until I felt his breath.
"Here, let me help" He spoke softly, "It's the least I can do,"
I wanted to tell him that he was fixing my car, and it was the least I  could do to find the stupid wrench when suddenly his hand was on my waist as he moved to step beside me. His fingertips brushed off me like tiny flames searing into the exposed skin, and I knew what was coming next.
I tried to resist it, believe me. But I can't help it. I've never been able to, it's my number one weakness. I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth as I braced myself.
His fingers trailed along the base of my back. I managed to suppress the moan, but that was about it. Like always I arched my back and jerked sideways in a fit of the most unattractive laughs you can picture.
Eddie didn't have to pull his hand away, I had already squirmed from his grip as he looked at me stunned. A toothy grin formed on his face as he crossed his arms.
"What was that?" He said laughing slightly.
Looking at him laugh made me laugh more. It was like someone flipped my giddy switch. I turned to the countertop and bent over on it, determined to catch my breath with my hands clasped behind my head.
"Oh god," I said breathlessly, "I'm sorry, I just have a really ticklish back."
I couldn't see his face, but when he spoke he whispered,
"Heh, yeah," He said lowly, "That's definitely a first. I'll try not and accidentally tickle you in the future." I felt like he was grinning, but I was too embarrassed now to even look him in the eye.
I nearly made a potential sex noise in front of Eddie Munson.
After a bit of silence, I hear him say "Found it, it was a torque wrench I was looking for, sorry for the confusion."
His voice had become very soft, and once again we were wrapped in silence, only now it wasn't uncomfortable.
As the day went on, and while I was fretting over how I was going to pay for my car and most of the house bills, a few people came in to drop off their cars, barely exchanging words with the guy classed as the town freak. Eddie didn't look too bothered as they tossed him their keys before turning on their heel and walking away, but something told me deep down it annoyed him.
But what could I do? I doubt he'd want any consolation from me, he barely knows me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Well, from the looks of things, the repairs shouldn't take more than 3 to 4 weeks. Maybe 5." He told me, which downhearted me slightly, I mean a whole month without my car? Maybe more? That was a whole month getting the bus to school, adding an extra touch of hell onto the day.
"Oh, okay. Would you be able to give me a rough idea of the price? It's ok if you can't, I really appreciate you doing this for me." I gave him a slight smile and watched curiously as he looked to the ground and walked behind the counter. He almost looked nervous.
"It's not going to be cheap, as you probably guessed, but luckily for you," He released a breath that sounded like he had been holding onto it for a while, resting his fist underneath his face "Flattery works with me."
I gave a small chuckle, relieved that he was easing the tension.
"I'll write up a docket next time you're here, we can sort something out then." He said calmly, moving to sit back in his chair. Meanwhile, my heart had started beating a mile a minute.
"Next time I'm here?" I asked curiously
"Yeah, next time you're free and I'm working on your car. It's kind of nice to have someone around who appreciates good music," He was flipping through papers on the countertop, and I was praying he didn't look up anytime soon and see the mixture of surprise and confusion on my face. He looked at the clock on the wall behind him and I saw that I had spent the whole day here, and it was almost 9 pm.
"C'mon it's getting late. Plus now you definitely can't walk home, it's too dark. My car is parked out front, I'll give you a lift." He pulled his keys off the rack and threw on his jacket that he took in from the back of the van earlier.
"Um, thanks. Means a lot." And suddenly I was back to tripping over my words in front of him.
He likes having me around?
He appreciates my music taste?
Edward Munson, what are you doing to me?

The black phone Headcanons pt. 2
Tumblr media
Fandom: the black phone
Word count: 1226
Tags: fluff, Headcanons, slight mentions of Finbin & Brance, some angst for Vance & Robin but not too much
The black phone hcs pt 1
A/n: here's part 2 of my tbp Headcanons
• going back to Robin liking Michael Jackson I feel like when he's doing chores he's having a whole concert in his living room, he's putting his SOUL into lip syncing/singing those lyrics. Sometimes he'll invite Finney over so they can dance around the living room to Mj lol
• Robin & Finney are childhood friends. How they met is that Robin saw finney alone on the school playground and decided to walk up to him and they stuck together since.
• Robin was the first to develop a crush on Finney while finney thought his attraction towards Robin was just extreme admiration. He talked to Gwen once about how much he admired Robins ability to not take shit from people and how much he likes hanging out with him, it finally clicked With Gwen and she explained to him that "Finney you might have a crush on him 😐" he stood there for a good 2 minute because realizeation hit him like a train of holy shit she's right
• Robin calls Finney Guey (someone said it meant dude but when I looked it up it meant smth else but progressed into being used as dude but that might be wrong so I apologize to my Spanish speaking readers in advance 💀) Finney understands little Spanish so he hopes whatever Robin's calling him isn't insulting
• Bruce is passive aggressive when insulting people while Vance is just upfront calling people cocksuckers he loves using that word
• speaking of Bruce being mean, ik alot of people characterized him as a Golden boy, the boy next door, sunshine but he can be mean as shit if he has to Don't tell me he can't be, y'all saw the way he looked when he thought finney was gonna win the game when he is he's sarcastic and somewhat of a smart ass. Vance finds it hilarious and encourages it when he gets that way
• Bruce is also extremely competitive even outside of Playing baseball. banned from playing board games with the gang cus it went to his head
• Vance is also banned from playing for the time being cus he almost broke his mother's vase out of anger which insued a scolding in front of the rest by his mom lol
• Vance is a great cook but he's like Gordon Ramsay whenever someone (besides his mom ofc) tries to help him
• Vances mom's Italian, his mom taught him how to cook when he was younger so that's why he's great in the kitchen lol
• Everyone survived/lived Au: this is a continuation of pt 1 of my Vance hcs with his mom when Vance got older (like older teens-young adult age) his mom got back in contact with him and decided to stay in his life for good
• Grab n Go used to have a vending machine but soon went out of order cus Vance kept punching it every time the food got stuck which was often, the thing was a piece of shit anyways as Vance would say
• English is Bruces second language and Japanese is his first, when he talks with his parents and sister he uses Japanese most of the time. obviously they speak English as well but when it's just the 4 of them they like to talk in their native language. Bruce sometimes likes to use it to confuse tf out of the rest of the group when talking with them. Robin thinks it's funny
• Robin will absolutely destroy the school lunch food after saying "it's not even that good" mf will eat that dry ass chicken sandwich like he's on death row and it's his last meal. Same for Vance tbh
• Robin favorite candy is Reese's absolutely devours them. Idk if Reese's pieces was a thing back in the 70s but if they were he fucks with them too. Finney also likes Reese's and M&Ms while Gwen prefers M&Ms more
• Robin's a single child but has a fuckload of cousins that visit him on holidays. He's secretly always wanted a little sibling (I mean he sees his baby cousins as his own siblings but they're not always around) so when finney introduces Robin to Gwen they immediately have a sibling relationship
• Robin's uncles has a son named Rick/Ricky. He's older than Robin (like around 17-19) Robin sees him as a older brother.
• since Rick is busy most of the time with work and school it's always a treat for Both him and Robin when he takes Robin (+ finney to ofc) to hangout
• Rick also has a girlfriend that finney might of used to have a small crush on lololol that sometimes also comes with them if she's free
• Vance uses a fucking trash bag as his backpack 💀 that or a backpack that's a thread from falling apart
• Griffin loves goldfish. He'd inhale a whole carton if he could but his mom always stops him before he can (talking about the snack not the actual fish)
• speaking of Griffin he's an absolute mamas boy. Always clings to her whenever They're in a store together
• Griffin bruises easily. He doesn't know why he just does, and what makes it worse is that he's a bit unaware of his surroundings sometimes so he's always bumping into things. His mom playfully scolds him about it while she kisses them to make them feel better
• Griffin is an extremely picky eater as a kid. Literally any fruit or vegetable he doesn't like except apples, oranges, and carrots. when he gets older tho he grows out of it a bit, still hates broccoli tho
• Griffin also is a bookworm. Loves books and likes sitting in the library during lunch sitting next to the shelves and read. He got his love for books from his mom as she is also a bookworm so they bond over that hobby
• if someone calls Vance an idiot or a dumbass it'll set him off. Vance hates when people insult his intelligence, school already makes him feel like shit as is he doesn't need some dickhead telling him he's stupid even as a "joke" like if it's his friend jokingly call him a dumbass once he'll laugh it off but if it's someone doing it to make fun of him they're catching a right hook
• Everyone survived/lived Au: when karate kid is realesed it became one of Robins all time favorite movies and had Finney watch it with him (also modern au: he absolutely loves Cobra Kai)
• when Vance died his mom found out in a newspaper after they found the bodies and broke down in her kitchen. Asking herself why was her baby taken
• and when Robin died it hurt too much for his mom to remarry or have other children as she felt it would be "replacing" her passing husband and son
Wow dropped those angst bombs out of nowhere. Sorry lol
• as much he likes to seem tough Robin absolutely hates spiders. He'll scream and violently stomps the shit out of it but if he's with the others he'll act like they're being overdramatic and kill it as if he isn't internally screaming with them. Finney knows but doesn't say anything
• Billy loves marvel and has a comic book collection. His favorite marvel character is spiderman

Confessions of a tech support son
As the oldest child in my family, I am the one most frequently relied on for any type of tech support that my parents (or younger siblings) need. This can range from "the internet isn't working" to "how do I make the text on my phone bigger" to the bane of my existence "the TV in the basement is not working again."
For this exercise, I've attempted to create a customer journey map from my perspective where the "customers" are my parents:
Stage 1: Awareness
Actions: Notice a change in TV behavior (e.g., no picture, sound issues). Likely try turning it off and on again.
Motivations: Frustrated with the malfunctioning TV system. Desire to restore normalcy and enjoy their favorite shows/sports.
Questions: "What's wrong with the TV? Is it broken? How do I fix it?"
Barriers: Fear of causing more damage, lack of understanding of TV system setup.
Stage 2: Contact
Actions: Call me to explain the problem. Express that they did not do anything different from usual but that my sister may have messed it up when she was watching a movie.
Motivations: Hoping I can fix it remotely or offer guidance. Feeling irritated but wanting a solution.
Questions: "Can you fix this?" "Why is this so complicated"
Barriers: Difficulty expressing the problem clearly, lack of technical vocabulary, frustration with recurring issues.
Stage 3: Service
Actions: Follow my instructions carefully over the phone (e.g., turning off and on, pressing the input button).
Motivations: Wanting to fix the TV and avoid further disruption. Feeling a sense of relief as things appear to resolve.
Questions: "Why does this always happen? What if it doesn't work?"
Barriers: Difficulty following instructions from someone who cannot see the remote and is mostly guessing (me), limited technical skills.
Stage 4: Retention
Actions: Use the TV successfully, express appreciation to me.
Motivations: Feeling happy and relieved that the TV is working again. Feeling grateful for my help.
Questions: "What if it breaks again? Can you tell your sister she needs to make sure the tv works when she is done with it?"
Barriers: Uncertainty about future problems, lack of confidence in their own technical abilities.

I saw your post about reading fanfiction and I love it so much. My enjoyment of fanfiction doesn't challenge my availability to like understand Shakespeare. But, I know my enjoyment of fanfiction is because a.) It's Fun, b.) It's Comforting and I Feel Seen, and C.) It's Accessible.
I had a good high school education as in I went to a tuition free private school. It's easily the best high school in my area and some parents explained it as "An A in a public school here is just a C at this private school." It was common for straight A public school children to /fail/ our enterance exams. So, I know I'm very privileged to have this education where even middle of the pack was better than being left to the wilds of our county system.
I also know that I grew up poor and my grandmother hated buying me books. She saw them as a single use item even if I excitedly reread everything I owned. It was very rare for me to get new books of my own. I scavenged for free or someone gave them to me as a gift. You know what was free and readily available at this time? Fanfiction.
Now, I'm dealing with debilitated mental health where I rarely have enough spoons to do more than get out of bed, eat simple foods, and shower. Sometimes I have really great days! Other times, I have worse days.
Fanfiction is readily available on my phone, doesn't take as much mental energy, and isn't frightening because it's not an entirely new series. It's more like interacting with a new series in the same universe. I'm not having to forge new bonds with brand new characters or hope a series pans out even if the reviews looked good.
Writing fanfiction is also a hobby of mine. It brings me great joy. To solve the puzzles to fit in what I want to happen. Or, I connect little details I discovered and want to use.
As a reader and writer, it also gives me a chance to explore my own identities? My sexual and romantic orientations, gender, and polyam natures can appear in my favorite series now. They aren't being done in passing but have the chance to be fully explored in a way canon wouldn't really allow. It's fantastic.
It's also disheartening when people want to reduce a hobby that brings a lot of people joy down to "It's for the stupid masses." When that's not at all what's happening for majority of people? It's a free, enjoyable hobby that I watch person after person do as a passion project. This is just thing written from the heart with love.
💜
I think it has become cool to shit on fanfiction recently in a response to the navel gazing self satisfied posts that were going around a bit ago about how fanfic is REVOLUTIONARY and ANTICAPITALIST and NECESSARILY INVOLVES BEING PROGRESSIVE and engaging in Fandom is A RADICAL ACT, being in Fandom is a MARGINALIZED IDENTITY, etc
Which, yeah. Those takes were frustrating in a lot of ways and failed to address a lot of nuance. But I think the sheer *glee* with which a lot of people have jumped to going "THATS NOT TRUE AND ALSO YOUR HOBBY AND SUBCULTURE ARE BAD AND STUPID" is... not a flattering look for those people either. Lol
It's something that brings people a lot of joy. It's a hobby! It means a lot to a lot of people. And that doesn't mean it cant have issues just like any other hobby subculture (most of those issues mirror the issues present in Mainstream Society, though. Usually these are not brand new never before seen issues invented by Big Fanfiction. Lol)
I'm glad you have an activity that brings you joy and a space that you feel you fit into. That's important for people to have and I think we should be glad when people have that in their lives. It brings me joy that people have joy in their lives!!! It's hard to be an alive human!!! God bless stuff that makes it less hard for anyone
