Grusha Headcanons

Grusha avoids social and networking events as far as possible. Even though his role as Gym Leader demands a certain degree of public engagement, he finds it exceedingly difficult to sustain conversations, and often comes across as aloof and rude without meaning to. Rather than risk saying something tactless, he engages as little as possible.

He joined the League a few months before Ryme did, but he has taken much longer to settle into his role. Despite being relatively new to the professional battle scene, critics rank him as one of the strongest Gym Leaders in Paldea, with the makings to become an Elite in future. Geeta has dropped similar hints during his annual performance reviews. But the praise does not always register; he doubts his ability and dwells on defeats, which often leads to him avoiding more challenging opponents.

Grusha did not have great interest in pokémon battles when he was younger. Neither of his parents were trainers, but they pressed him to try an array of sports and other pursuits throughout childhood, both battling and coordinating among them. Of the countless activities he dabbled in, snowboarding was the only one that truly seized his interest, but now that this path has closed to him, he has fallen back on alternative pursuits. Competitive battle still does not wholly engage him - but it is, at the very least, something he can feel good at.

His battle style is notable for how he manipulates visibility during matches. His signature technique utilises tailwinds combined with hailstorms and haze, which makes it exceedingly difficult for opposing trainers and their pokémon to see what is happening on the battlefield. His own team, all trained to rely on senses other than sight, are well adapted to fighting in such conditions. The technique is highly effective, but League officials have gently (but firmly) discouraged him from using it in more public matches, because low visibility hurts spectator enjoyment.

When he was younger, Grusha kept his hair short. It was only during the long, listless year after his injury that he grew it out, largely because he couldn’t summon the energy to book a haircut. He has since decided that he prefers it that way. Occasionally, he experiments with his appearance in other ways, such as with nail polish and makeup, but he is intensely private about it, especially now he is back in the public eye.

He does not tend to keep his pokémon in pokéballs unless he has to, as they are adjusted to roaming alone on Glaseado mountain. His weavile is especially reluctant to be contained. While Grusha has good control of his team on the battlefield, he is lax in domestic settings - he lets his pokémon sleep where they please, and even feeds them food from his own plate.

Grusha did some occasional modelling as a child, largely due to his mother’s insistence and fashion connections. He has taken on similar work as an adult, but he feels more self-conscious in front of a camera than he used to, uncertain of how to stand and hold himself.

Due to how recently he entered his role, he is not especially close to anyone in the League. At the few social functions he attends, Rika is one of the few to always strike up a conversation with him, but he assumes she is only being polite. Her blatant attempts to flirt are also taken as politeness.

Before his altaria evolved, she liked to settle in his hair and sleep on his head. She still attempts to do it now, even though she is rather too heavy for it.

(Sorry about the design change halfway through. I made the first part 2 months ago and the second and third recently.)

Making their way towards the room, Destino handed their crown to Hershel, their loyal bisharp bodyguard.

Destino: I want you to keep this safe for me. I don’t think I’ll have much use for it up there, especially if I’m trying to hide from everyone. As much as I love all of the attention, I feel this situation may not require me to draw too much to myself. Shame really but I don’t want to die. Good luck down here handling my parents and all.

Before Destino could walk away, Hershel stopped them with a hand.

Hershel: My prime. I feel you should take this back. It came from the surface and I feel as though you may be able to find out more information about it.

Hershel had that damn crystal in his hand. Destino didn’t really want to take it. They used it once but they didn’t feel as though they were going to need it. Destino sighed and took the crystal, tucking it into their fur. They couldn’t store much in the mass of fur they had but it was useful to hold small things. Destino, Hope and Felix entered into the king and queen’s room, the door to the surface still open from when Destino had first discovered it.

The king and queen’s voices echoed down the tunnel, even though they weren’t quite in view yet. Shit. Now they were coming back from their trip. It did confirm to Destino that they knew about the surface. They were pissed about it. All their life, Destino had been told it was impossible to make it to the surface and yet their parents ventured to the surface and kept it a secret from them, their only child. Were their parents ever going to tell them? Or were they planning on keeping Destino in the dark about it?

Felix: Destino, what do we do? They’re coming this way and I don’t think they’ll want to see us in here.

Hope: We have time to hide from them and sneak up without them knowing. Now’s not really the time to be getting caught.

Destino was conflicted. A part of them wanted to tell their parents about how awful they had been for keeping this whole thing a secret but a part of them felt they didn’t deserve a final conversation before they went up to save the world. It would be satisfying heading off with a big, “fuck you,” to their parents.

Pokemon King & Queen

Pokemon K&Q is a fangame set in Orvana, a region that consists of two islands - Ruvia and Valorik. You and your twin live on a ranch with your father while your mother is away being the champion of the region. As you traverse Orvana, you will find 'dungeons', pockets of reality in which a primary type thrives with complete shiny odds but you cannot use regular pokeballs in them due to the space-time disruptions, but these balls do not become available until you've beaten the first gym. The elite four and a connected city will be on the island you don't start on.

This region is somewhat open world, and the gym leaders will change their teams based on how many pokemon you have. There will be some locations blocked off because you don't have the right pokemon or don't have enough team members, and others like the elite four and the second island may be blocked off by badge count. Some areas will also be without access according to story progression, but these will mostly be tied to evil team actions.

Mechanics

Depending on if you choose the Queen or King version of the game, you will start on different islands with access to different pokemon. When you reach the second island, the pokemon the other 'version' has access to become available at extremely low chances to preserve 'version seperation' without the need to figure out how to implement trades but they are only available on the second island.

Speaking of trades, I am thinking about them happening when you move between islands instead, meaning they don't become available until you're halfway through the game, but they will have to be holding an item.

I have four primary mechanical additions.

First is pokemon with three types. I have a mechanic similar to tera but it doesn't replace a type it adds, and the legendaries will likely both have 3 types without any extra items, or have a 'powered down' form in the same manner as Zacian and Zamacenta. This is essentially a reskinned mega evolution combined with tera typing.

Second, I added 2 more types, partially just so the Elite Four (which focus on a single type) don't overlap with gyms but allow all types to be used. (I'm thinking about the champion using a random team typing but that one is still uncertain).

Resist: Sound

Third is my gyms being dual-typed. I have some already figured out but not all of them

The Elite Four will be 'weaker' types - Normal, Bug, Ice, and Poison

Fourth is shiny dungeons. Like the safari zone you can only use special pokeballs for the dungeons, but you can still fight the pokemon with increased experience gain. These dungeons are being created by the evil team trying to manipulate probability among other things to force the legendaries to show up.

Maps

These are the most recent images I have for the areas in the region.

First is Valorik's Overgrove Town.

This lovely area is nestled between a forest and some mountains and is home to the Grass/Rock Gym leader Rosetta who's ace is a regional marowak.

The pond is home to many magikarp, but you might find a few menashell, rowdy water/fighting types.

Second is Valorik's Fenn Ranch.

This has been covered before but I added more space to the pens and moved the berry farm. Each pen houses s different variety of animal.

Top left contains Miltank, Tauros, and the regional prevo of both, Kalva, a small blue cattle.

Top right contains Mareep and Wooloo, as well as a Stoutland to keep an eye on them and a Lillipup in training to be a herd dog.

Middle pen contains Ponyta, Rapidash, Mudbray, and Mudsdale.

Bottom Pen contains Torchic and the currently unnamed Turkey Pokemon - Which will likely be Normal/Fighting, Ground/Fighting, or Normal/Ground.

honestly the TCG has a massive issue where every card is like trying to be a Super Extra Mega card

Back then it was like "there is a rare card called Charizard EX." OK. That's fine. If you lose them you get much closer to winning the game, that's-a-fine

Then there was "Mega EX cards" but ok that's for Mega Evolution right okay that's kind of fine they're supposed to be special give them a cool as shit card, go ahea

Then it was "hey we added TURBO cards now you sort of slap them over another card and they're gold"

Then it was "what about GX cards??? They're like the same as EX cards but they have like a Super Attack"

now you go to check in the game and there's PIKACHU & ASH ULTRA MEGA EX (& KNUCKLES) and they're actually F tier, the real SSS tier card is ARCEUS KX-EX (Featuring Dante from Devil May Cry) that gets the ability to "draw anything lol"
