In a bustling hallway of Hawkins High, you nervously navigate your first day, feeling lost among the sea of unfamiliar faces. Until a sweet voice calls out.
"You look lost. Need a hand?"
Looking up, you didn't know what to say at first. She was the first person to talk to you, even with all the kids around you. No one paid you the time of day, too caught up in their own highschool drama.
The girl offers a smile, pointing towards the paper with your classes. You nervously chuckle, handing the paper over. She quickly glanced at it, before dragging you to the first class, which you so happened to have together.
She was nice and funny. It was easy to get along with her. When she wasn't talking about the newest thing or telling you about the school and people in it, she was listening to you and your story of how you ended up in Hawkins. She listened. Something not many teenagers do.
It didn't take long for you two to become close. You walked together in the halls, did homework together, went over to each other's houses, called after school, kept each other updated on the drama that happened in the classes you don't have together. It was amazing to have someone to talk to after moving to a new town.
It was torture for Robin.
Don't get her wrong, she adored you. Maybe even a little too much.
She started off seeing you as a friend. You were nice and funny. But apparently that's her type. She started noticing how you put your hair behind your ear as you smiled, the creases next to your lips as you smile- how your eyes crinkle as well. She loved the color red on you. She wanted to spend every moment with you.
It was unhealthy, she thought. It wouldn't cause anything but trouble. But she wasn't one to just end something. Especially when it meant so much to not only her, but you. Was she just supposed to drop you one day? Leave you alone in the sea of sharks? She wasn't that type of person, so she'd have to endure the unspoken rejection.
"That doesn't make sense." Robin watched your eyebrows furrow, not noticing her lips lightly pull into an amused grin. You were adorable when confused. "Biology is a bitch."
"couldn't agree more." She shut her book, pulling her bag from beside your bed and started putting everything in it.
"what're you doing? I thought we had more to study?" There you were, making it hard for her to just see you as a friend. With your pretty eyes, lips, cheeks.
"I have errands to run. Sorry." She stood, moving to put her backpack on.
"are you going to walk? I drove you here."
Robin stumbled over her words. She forgot about that, even with her standing in your room. There's no way she was going to stay there , inhaling your smell that was on everything. It was torture. "It's not that far of a walk."
You stood, smiling as you walked over to your desk chair, putting your jacket on. "Don't be silly. I need fresh air anyway."
"No."
You paused with one arm in your jacket. "What?"
She sighed, looking up at your ceiling. "I just...I just need some time away from you." Ouch. She could've worded that better. Didn't stop it from being true.
"oh-yeah...yeah of course." Your jacket fell from your arm, landing back in the seat of the chair. "It is a long walk though. I can get my mom to take you home."
Robin sighed, "Why do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Care so much."
You walked over to your bed and slumped down on it, looking at her confused. "Because you're my friend? I'm supposed to care."
She nodded slowly, biting her lip. "Why do you have to? You make it so much harder than it has to be."
"I'm confused, Robin."
"I shouldn't feel this way about you."
It was quiet for a moment, until you broke it with a whisper. "What way?"
Llike I like you." Robin managed to spit out, instantly regretting it as your face dropped.
"Robin..."
She was quick to make her way to your door, grabbing the handle. "I'm just going to go-"
"You don't have to. We can talk this out-please don't go."
"I made things awkward."
"No you didn't."
She felt a hand on her elbow, too scared to turn around. You were right there, with her secret just aired out. Were you going to laugh at her? Spread it around school? She knew you weren't the type, but you can't be too sure.
"I like you too, Robin."
"Really?" She hated how fast she asked, but didn't care when she met your eyes. You offered her a sweet smile, eyes crinkling and all.
"Yeah, I didn't know if it was romantic feelings or not. But after Tonight, I kind of got my answer. I really, really like you."
"In that case," he backpack slid to the floor, her arms going around you. "I don't have errands."
"Good," you grabbed her hand, turning and dragging her back towards your bed and the open book that laid on your covers. "I still need to help with biology."
"Why must you torture me?"

Daryl wasn't sure why he hated you so much. You were nice to everyone around you, even understanding. But the sight of you makes the blood in his veins boil.
It became a routine; you and him sniping at each other, digging up trauma neither of you really wanted to. He just got under your skin. Like now.
“Sorry, in case you haven' noticed, the world ain't all rainbows and sunshine anymore. We don't shit money to buy the newest thing. Life is different, Doll. Get used to it.” He drawled, his eyebrows scrunched together.
There he goes again.
You weren't even talking to or about him, but he had heard you. That had been enough for him to butt in, apparently.
Ever since you had stumbled your way into Daryl's group early on, Daryl had had it out for you. At the creek, he would be pointing out how your hair had to have been done recently. Your jewelry, clothes, how smooth your skin looked from the expensive moisturizers and night creams you had to use, your newly manicured nails- ignoring the dirt and blood underneath-, and the shine in your eyes. You didn't have the shine at first, but when you would hang out with Carol, you would smile, and the recent glazed look was gone.
Your eyes shone brightly like the stars in the countryside. Not that you would know. You probably never had the chance to see how bright the stars shone in the city.
You were unbothered by the people at the campsite, keeping to yourself. You didn't have to worry about anything when the world was built for your liking and convenience.
Daryl despised you and that god-awful rock on your finger that could feed him for probably 6 months to a year. He glared at the ring every chance he got—so much so that you eventually yanked it off, throwing it in the murky pond.
Even after leaving the campsite, you stayed with the group, arguing with Daryl along the way.
“I get it, you're used to having people do everything for you, but we're not always going to be with you, Princess. Sorry life now is so much different from your perfect life before.” For a quiet guy, he always had so much to say to you. All negative.
You bit your cheek, glancing from Maggie—who you were originally talking to—to the dirty man in front of you. "Yeah-I had the perfect life. I had the fiancé that I couldn't wait to marry. I had the apartment that I had the luxury to design with my mother, gushing about the difference wallpapers." You smiled at the memory. Your mother had been so happy for you. "I had the fluffy dog that had its own room. I had the dad who would always talk about playing catch with his future grandchild. I had the money where I didn't have to worry about anything in life." You didn't falter as you felt behind your eyes begin to burn. " I did, alright? I had the life that almost every little girl dreams about. But it was yanked out of my hands, like everyone else's. One day, I didn't wake up to my fiancé kissing me, or the smell of burnt toast-- cause he didn't know how to cook. I woke up to him nowhere in sight. Instead, I heard yelling outside the door, car horns honking outside of the windows. When I opened the door, I saw my neighbors with white eyes, growling and clawing at the skin of the man I was going to marry and grow old with. His screams will haunt me 'til the day I die. But you will not ever hear me feeling bad for myself. I did have the perfect life, but that doesn't matter now. So, get over -yourself-, cause I am just trying to survive just like you."
Daryl watched your eyes gloss over, your nostrils flare. You were rightfully pissed. And right. He hadn't heard you weep for your past-- ever. You had jumped right into survival mode as soon as he laid eyes on you. You had held your own too- most people called you a badass, Daryl wouldn't let himself verbally agree. With that, you turned and walked away. Maggie shuffled awkwardly, glancing from you to Daryl. She wore a disappointed frown.
Weeks. You ignored his existence for weeks, 2 weeks to be exact. Everytime he would go up to you, you would walk away. Even if you were in the middle to a conversation. The person you were talking to wouldn't mind, really. They would've known about your bitter back-and-forth. They wouldn't think anything of it.
Daryl just wishes you would give him a chance to at least try to apologize. After you had let your walls down and told him about what the end of the world was like for you, he felt bad - pathetic, even. He was so jealous about how you lived before the outbreak, he didn't care about how it had affected you. He should've.
The moonlight led him towards your house, his hands fidgeting. The streets were silent, everyone already in bed. He hadn't been able to sleep. The thought of you kept him up in a different way than before.
His knuckles hovered over your door. You had to be in bed. Was it worth it? You would probably be too tired to yell at him. He knocked.
It took a minute for the door to open. You stood, rubbing sleep from your eyes, a sleep frown on your face. At the sight in front of you, your hand dropped, your sleepy eyes immediately rolling in annoyance. "Oh my god-" You tried to close the door, but his boot caught it before it could close all the way. "Move your foot, Dixon."
"Listen." His eyes were pleading, something you weren't used to. You kept the door open when he reluctantly moved his boot. " 'm sorry."
You scoffed, Sure, you are."
" 'm serious. " He looked at the floor as he brought his hand up, turning it and showing his hand. "Not sure why I kept it." At the sight of your ring, tears bordered your eyes. Your head pressed against the side of the door as your body shook with a silent sob. Daryl didn't look at you. He let you grieve for whatever you wanted to in that moment. He let you have that moment. After your sobs died down, his calloused hand took yours, opening your hand and dropping the ring into your palm.
"You're a dick." You hiccupped.
"I know."

Tumblr media
let’s talk, shall we?
it’s no secret that tumblr writers have been leaving or deactivating their blogs, especially in the last year or two. and i think the reason why is even less of a secret.
the fact that writers have to practically beg for feedback and interaction on a site where they post their works for FREE is ridiculous. the fact that most of the people who are reading and consuming these works don’t even spare 10 seconds to add a nice tag to their reblog (if they even bother to do that) is borderline enraging. this is tumblr, not instagram or twitter. likes on tumblr do nothing for the writer. i don’t care if you think that it helps them appear in the tags, or if you think that seeing yet another “___ liked your post” is encouraging to them, because it doesn’t and its not.
and speaking of likes, why is the ratio of likes to reblogs so fucking huge? and before you think i’m being dramatic, lets take a look at some of the notes from my own works.
at the time of me writing this, my one-shot, dream lover, has 821 notes. that’s pretty good right? but let’s see how many are empty likes and how many are reblogs.
Tumblr media
769 likes.
52 reblogs.
out of those 52 reblogs, 35 of them are empty. no tag, no comment.
one of my reactions currently has 2,038 notes. you may be thinking that’s a lot, which it is and i’m incredibly thankful for how many notes i’ve gotten on it. but how many are likes and how many are reblogs?
Tumblr media
1,924 likes.
113 reblogs.
out of those 113 reblogs, 81 of them are empty.
one of my headcanons currently has 1,110 notes.
Tumblr media
1,069 likes.
41 reblogs.
28 of those 41 reblog are empty.
why is it so hard to reblog things and give feedback?
“oh but it won’t fit my blog theme!” if you’re so fucking concerned about what your precious tumblr blog looks like, then send an ask. they’re just as appreciated.
“i don’t know what to say tho!” we’re not asking you to be shakespeare. if you’re really that no thoughts head empty just put a keyboard smash, if nothing else.
“but i’m shy and embarrassed!” the anonymous option is there for a reason, and most writers have it turned on. being shy when you have the option of keeping your identity a secret is no excuse.
and yes, i’m aware that some writers don’t have the anon option on, which brings me to my final point.
stop. demanding.
if a writer has requests open, be a decent human being and use your manners. going into their inbox and saying “____’s reaction of this.” is no way to request something. saying please, thank you, or even “hey, could you do a reaction of _____?” is a thousand times better than just telling them what you want them to write.
writers spend hours of their time and energy to write things for you to read, and leaving an empty like is meaningless to them.
if your liked a writer’s works, reblog them and maybe add some nice fucking tags while you’re at or send an ask to them about it. because sooner or later, after so many likes and barely any interaction, more and more writers are going to leave.
stop making them desperate for any spare crumb of interaction and start leaving feedback if you love these writers so much.

Magna grumbled as she trudged through the snow, her arms crossed tightly against her chest. She never was a fan of the cold weather, and today was no exception. The wind whipped around her, sending a shiver down her spine. But despite her displeasure with the winter chill, she couldn't help but smile as she looked over at you. You were practically skipping through the snow, your laughter ringing out in the air.
"Come on, Magna, it's not that bad!" you called out, your cheeks flushed with excitement. Kids ran around you, smiles on their faces. "We're supposed to be having fun!"
Magna tried to maintain her usual grumpy facade, but it was hard to resist your infectious energy.
Before leaving the house, you had insisted on wrapping a colorful scarf around her neck, despite her protests, and she couldn't help but feel a warmth growing in her chest as she watched you. She had tried to not break a smile as she watched you step over the piles of snow.
"Fine, fine," Magna relented with a smirk. "But don't think this means I like the snow." She has repeatedly told you she wasn't a fan, but you insisted, wanting her to get out of the house.
You chuckled and then, without warning, gathered a handful of snow and swiftly molded it into a perfect snowball. Before Magna could react, you launched it at her, hitting her shoulder dead on. She glanced at you, a mischievous glint in her eye, before scooping up snow of her own.
What started as a lighthearted snowball fight soon turned into chaos. Laughter filled the air as snowballs flew back and forth between you and Magna. The people around were quick to join in. You, RJ, and Judith teamed up against Magna. For a brief moment, everyone forgot about the world outside their winter wonderland. No zombies, no dangerous missions, just people enjoying a carefree moment together.
As the snowball fight came to an end and the sun began to set, Magna found herself smiling more than she had in a long time. She never thought she could enjoy the cold so much, but with you by her side, even the harshest weather seemed bearable.
"Alright, you win," Magna said, brushing snow off her coat. "I'll admit, maybe the snow isn't so bad after all."
You grinned triumphantly, knowing that you had succeeded in bringing a little light into Magna's day.
Walking over to her, you went to put your arms around her waist, in return getting a face full of snow. Magna laughed, pulling her hand back, snow falling from between her fingers. She watched as snow fell from your cheek, some of it sticking in place. She wiped at your cheek with her other hand, kissing the coldness away.
Together, you walked back to the safety of the community, hand in hand- mostly to keep warm, of course.

You stumbled past the door, practically falling down the steps. The only thing stopping you from falling onto the pavement was the railing on the stairs.
It was as if everything was going in slow-motion.
Red. Dead. Blood.
The same 3 words kept repeating in your head. A nagging voice that wasn't your own repeating the words that would surely drive you insane.
The crimson liquid ran down your arms and hands, splattering onto the ground, weaving into the cracks of the concrete. Red liquid. Blood.
"Y/n?" Daryl slowed from his absentminded walk down the street, stopping across from you on the other side of the road. His eyes followed yours as they drifted to your hands. His body moved before his brain could process what was happening, or what had happened for your hands to be covered in blood and your expression as if you had seen a ghost. "What happened?" Daryl held your hands, asking the only question that seemed to come out, out of all the questions swimming around in his head.
"Bit."
His head shot up, looking at every inch of your face. Your face, that kept the same distant expression. He went into panic-mode. His eyes went from your face to your body, checking your arms, legs, everything. As far as his eyes could see, your hands were the only thing bleeding.
Your head shook, "Sammy."
Daryl felt his stomach drop. Any relief he felt when he relieved you weren't bleeding turned to dread.
Sammy. Sammy was a young boy, probably around 17, 18. He was a good kid, as far as Daryl knew. The kid was always offering to help in any way he could. He would go on runs and come back with more than needed. He kept the small kids of Alexandria entertained. Sammy would help teach the kids and others how to use weapons correctly. He could make a mean rabbit stew. But you could probably thank Carol for that. She taught the kid so much since he showed up. And he listened to every word.
Sammy was learning from Siddiq the same time you were. He was always one step ahead of you in asking questions. You didn't blame him. He was a smart learner, and willing to teach if you didn't understand something the way Siddiq explained it. "Want to learn how to save someone's life in the apocalypse." Sammy had told you, with a goofy grin. The same goofy grin he wore all the time.
You two were close, like brother and sister.
Losing him had to feel like what losing Merle felt like. Maybe even worse.
"Hey," Your dull eyes met his. Your eyes had never lacked this amount of emotion before, not even with what you have all been through this far. Your body fell forwards just as he touched your elbows. You laid limp in his arms. He couldn't care less about the blood soaking into his top as you clung to it. "Yer okay."
His attention was brought to the ajar door. A clattering inside seemed to only faze him. "I-" You hiccuped, "I couldn't do it. I couldn't, Daryl."
He had been rushed in late last night, bleeding so much, you were unable to find the wound at first. He was gargling on his own blood, trying to reach for his neck as you frantically cleaned him.
When you had finally found the wound under all the blood, you tried to save him. Tried to cut his leg off Before the infection traveled. But it was too late. His body went limp. You stayed by his side the rest of the night, staring at his peaceful expression, aside from all the grime.
The world was cruel, you had already known that. Way before the apocalypse. But this was a new level of cruel. One that one person couldn't come back from on their own.
The groaning continued, following the sound of your voice. The old body of Sammy growled and groaned, clawing at the door as you laid in the arms of the man you felt comfort in in other ways most nights.
Daryl moved back, holding you at arms length. "Gotta take care of it. Sit down." He helped you sit and lean against the steps.
He was quick with it. Almost as soon as he opened the door and walked in, he was walking out.
"Yer alright." He knew you wouldn't be the same again. You probably wouldn't laugh or make fun of him for a while. Hell, you might even quite working in the infirmary. He wouldn't blame you.
You had dealt with plenty of deaths before. There's just some you can't come back from.

"Oh shit." Nancy parked the car.
So many people stood around, gawking, standing on their tiptoes to look over other people's heads and shoulders. All to see what was going on. Whatever was happening, the news trucks and caneras didnt help with privacy. They were broadcasting everything to the whole town.
"C'mon, this way." Nancy walked behind the white and orange van, watching as the new sheriff, Powell, talked into the cameras that were right in his face, "reporting a homicide here on the lake. Officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene. We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from the house you see behind me. Uh, it was there that we found the victim, an 18-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney."
You scoffed as Powell went on to show a picture of Eddie, the 'person of interest'.
"oh, man." Steve sighed, "This is not good. Really not good."
Powell walked away, the crowd following with even more questions.
"Dustin? Can you hear me?" Eddie's voice crackled from the radio. "Wheeler?"
Dustin yanked the radio from his backpack, turning around for some privacy.
"Eddie. Holy shit. Are you okay?"
"Nah, man." You could hear his voice muffled, probably from running his hand down his face or something. "Pretty-pretty goddamn far from okay."
"Where is he?" Robin spoke up.
"Where are you?" Dustin echoed.
"Skull Rock. Do you know it?"
"Uh, yeah." Dustin answered, unsure.
"New Corn Wallis and-" You began, furrowing your eyebrows. You hadn't been there in forever.
"Garrett, yeah. I know where that is." Steve finished for you, making his way back to the car.
"Hold tight. We're coming."

You hadn't gotten off the radio since you got in the car. You had all but yanked it from Dustin's grip and began talking about any and everything with Eddie. Maybe you were trying to lighten the mood, Robin didn't really know. Your mood had taken a total change.
You were cracking jokes and replaying memories to the guy on the other side of the radio.
You eventually stopped, still smiling at the one memory of Eddie nearly falling on his face your first day of high school. He had been trying to impress his friend but miscalculated his steps and fell right as you had walked by. It was a funny first encounter.
It was quiet for a moment.
"I'm going to go to prison, aren't I?" Your smile fell. How were you to tell him that you didn't know. Sure, you were going to do all that you could to not let that happen. But you can only do so much.
"No. No, i don't think so."
"y/n," Eddie's voice trailed off, not entirely believing you.
"No, you're not going to prison because you haven't done anything wrong. Everyone else thinks you did because they don't know any better. They don't know what's actually going on. Can't really blame them, right? It's easier to blame a kid than something nonhuman."
Eddie waited a moment to reply, digging his palm into his eye socket. "I guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right."

Steve and Dustin continued to bicker from their pace in front of you.
Robin walked beside you, Nancy on her other side.
Glancing back at Max and Luca, Robin scoffed. "Oh, my god. They're so adorable. I just wanna squeeze 'em, you know?"
You nodded, glancing back yourself.
Nancy stayed looking forward, brown paper bag in hand.
"If I'm permitted to see a silver lining in the end-of-the-world doom and gloom, it would be the rekindling of some old flames that, frankly, never should've been snuffed out."
At the glare send Nancy sent, you couldn't help chuckling, just listening as the two went back and forth.
"I didn't mean that as a hint or anything."
"Right." Nancy rolled her eyes.
"But," Robin continued, "If I did mean it as a hint, would that be so terrible? To wish for happiness for my friends?"
This time, Nancy stopped in her tracks, scoffing as she turned to Robin. "You think I'm not happy?"
Robin fumbled over her words, "I-I'm sure you are. It's just, the other day in the library, I mentioned Jonathan and you sort of flinched or winced or something like-"
"I didn't flinch or wince."
"Okay."
"Jonathan and I are fine."
"Got it."
"We're good."
"Right."
"Guys." They looked at you for the first time since they began talking. You pointed at Steve and Dustin, who were only getting further ahead. Nancy turned and began walking.
"It's just..." Nancy trialed off, going back to the Janathan topic. "He was supposed to be there for the break, and then he backed out last minute for some vague, mumbly Jonathan reason. And, to be honest, I'm not that surprised because I've been feeling him pulling away, lately. I don't know if it's because we're 2,000 miles away or if he's met someone new or what. Now I can't find out why because apparently, he's blown up his family's house phone or something." She took a much-needed breath, before continuing. "So, yeah. If the mention of his name caused a slight muscle spasm on my face, that's probably why."
"Seems like a perfectly reasonable reason to flinch, wince, or something." Robin offered a small smile.
Nancy smiled back. "You said ' the happiness of your friends', so, does that make us friends? As in, offically?"
"Uh, yeah. I mean, right? Everyone here is my friend. Right, Y/n?"
"I guess." Your nose playfully crinckled. Robin had always found that adorable. Especially when you were picking at her.
"Right." Nancy looked between the two of you.

"Bada bing, bada boom. There she is, Henderson. Skull Rock. "In your face, man. In your stupid, cocky little face." Steve bragged, taking in the beauty of the rock he was all too familiar with.
"Doesn't make sense." Dustin mumbled, looking around, and at his compus.
"Yeah, yeah. Even with it staring you in the face, you can't admit it. Just can't admit you're wrong, you little butthead."
You walked around the bushes, further ahead of the other 4. You saw Dustin and Steve just as Eddie jumped down. "I concur. You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead."
"Jesus. We thought you were a goner." You couldn't help but smile as you watched Dustin hug Eddie, who probably smelt rank.
"Yeah, me too, man. Me too."

You were right about Eddie smelling. He held you under his arm, all his appreciation for you being expressed in the bear hug. you just wished your nose didn't work in that moment.
"When i got back to shore, I tried calling you guys, but, uh," Eddie took a swig out of the canteen with his other hand. "My walkie was busted, man. Drenched. So, I did the thing that I do now, apparently. I ran." He chuckled, no humor behind it at all.
"Do you know what time it was? The attack?" Nancy questioned.
"Yeah, no- I know exactly what time it was. My walkie wasn't the only thing that got soaked." He threw his watch in her direction.
"9:27."
"Same time our flashlights went kablooey."
You looked at Robin confused. She mouthed ' I'll tell you later', you had yet to be let in on all that had happened when you were at the funeral. You just felt like they weren't letting you in on everything on purpose, not because they just forget.
"Which means what, exactly?" Steve asked."
Apparently, you weren't the only one who was confused about all of this.
"That the sure of energy was Vanca attacking Patrick." Nancy threw the watch back.
"Well," Robin tried, "We're one step closer. We know how Vecna attacks."
"And where he attacks from." Lucas adds.
"So, now we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside Down and drive a stake through his heart." Max states.
Robin scoffed, "If he even has a heart." She glanced at you, thinking of how you and Max are currently on edge, scared if you'll even get the next second to live. The rest of the group were worried about Max, with her coming out and telling everyone everything that has happened. She saw you, saw how you didn't want to worry anyone. That's how you have always been.
"A stake? Is he a vam- is he a vampire?!" Steve looked around.
"It was a metaphor."
"A bullet should work on his, right?" Eddie offered.
Lucas shrugged, "I say we chop his head off."
"Colorful ideas." You gawked at them. These are children ready to murder whatever is making your lives a living hell.
Nancy nodded at you, "I'd say all of the above, but we can't do any of that 'til we find a way into the Upside Down."
"We need El to get her powers back."
"Everything was way easier." Steve turned to Eddie, "We had this girl. She had super-."
"Superpowers. Yeah, you've mentioned her."
You lost it, "Let's stop talking about El, alright? Shes over 2,000 miles away with Mike and Will. They're having fun and they can't help us here. So, just talking about her and her powers that made things 'so' much easier."
Everyone shut up, letting you breathe.
Eddie spoke up after a moment, "Hey, uh, Henderson's not cursed, is he?"
Dustin, who hadn't said a word since you had made it to the rock, was pacing, but stopped short and starred into the woods.
"Cursed? no, no. He's fine. Mental? Absolutely."
"Boom!" Dustin's outburst had everyone jump out of their skin. "Bada, bada, boom."
Steve was utterly confused, a little concerned about his friend.
"I was right."
Steve's eyebrows dropped, a sigh rolling out of his mouth as he rolled his eyes. "Skull Rock was north."
"Seriously? You're serious?" Steve couldn't understand why this kid couldn't just be wrong.
"Mhm!"
"This is Skull Rock! Okay?!"
"Mhm." Dustin was as calm as can be, while Steve was beginning to get agitated.
"You're totally, absolutely, 100% wrong. Right now."
"Yes-"
"What?!"
"And no."
"Oh, my god." Steve put his hands over his face, dragging down.
"This compass worked correctly when we left the Wheeler's. It was correct when we got in the car on Kerley. But it started to slip the further east we went. Now, it's way off. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong. The compass was."
Steve threw his hands up. "So, you're using faulty equipment. You're still wrong."
"Except it isn't faulty. Lucas, do you remember what can affect a compass?"
"An elethromagnectic field."
"Yep."
"I'm sorry. I must've skipped that class." Robin shook her head.
"In the presence of a stronger electromagnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power. So, either there's some super big magnet around here or-"
"There's a gate."

It was Valentine's Day, and love was in the air, as most people would say. Robin Buckley had been feeling a flutter in her chest ever since she met you, who had captured her heart in the most unexpected way. She had planned the perfect evening to express her feelings.
Robin had surprisingly decorated your room with fairy lights, heart-shaped balloons, and rose petals scattered on the floor. Soft music played in the background, creating a romantic ambiance. For her lack of secret keeping, she was proud of herself. Surprised, actually. There were moments where you would just look at her and she had to bite her tongue so she didn't blurt her romantic plan out.
As you entered the room, your eyes widened in surprise. "Robin, what is all this?" You asked, voice full of awe.
Robin stepped closer, a nervous smile playing on her lips. "I wanted to make Valentine's Day special for you," she confessed. "Because you're the most incredible person I've ever met. I can't help but feel drawn to you, like you've woven yourself into the very fabric of my heart."
(Y/N) blushed, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Robin, you're so sweet."
There was a moment of silence, before Robin broke it. "I practiced that for 2 weeks."
You smiled. Of course she did.
Taking a deep breath, Robin reached into her pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. She opened it slowly, revealing a delicate silver necklace with intertwined heart pendants hanging from it.
"This necklace represents our connection," Robin explained, her voice filled with sincerity. "Each heart symbolizes our journey together, the way our lives have intersected and become intertwined."
Your breath caught as you reached out to touch the necklace. "Robin, it's beautiful," you whispered, voice filled with emotion. "How'd you-"
"Doesn't matter." Where she had gotten the money for such an amazing gift was a secret.
Robin slowly took the necklace from the box and carefully placed it around your neck, letting her fingertips linger on the soft skin. Your eyes met, and in that moment, everything else faded away.
"You've stolen my heart, Y/N," Robin whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "And I promise to cherish yours, always." As she finished her sentence, she couldn't help the way her words sounded cringe.
You cupped Robin's face in her hands, leaning in for a tender, lingering kiss.
