I go through phases of terrible sentimentality. Seeing everyone celebrate fall and October on my dash has made me a little homesick, as Hong Kong doesn't get terribly cold in the winter, and most days the weather is still quite hot. Coming from New England, fall means quite a lot for me. I'm not sure what I'm feeling is even homesickness, or just the longing for that cozy feeling, of settling into a rhythm once school has started up again, of bundling up in sweaters, of appreciating the warmth indoors when you know how nippy it is outside.

This Starbucks is doing something right. Of course, coffee shops are undeniably cozy, but there is something about sitting in this near-empty shop, sipping a hot drink, working on an essay that I feel confident in, listening to the chatter and hiss of coffee machines and Ed Sheeran songs playing softly over the speakers (the Ed Sheeran was a great choice) that has me feeling so warm and cozy and autumnal. I am so comfortable, and I am so grateful. I wish you all the same.

Uni starts back this week. This trimester, I'm only doing one unit: Archaeology of Death and Human Osteology. I'm also still working on my main assignment from last trimester which is a historical case study of my hometown.

Last semester didn't go very well for me, so I'm hoping I can keep my mental health in check and cope a little better this time.

My main strategy is planning out my week so it doesn't become overwhelming. Wish me luck!

I will be starting my Ph.D. in two weeks focusing on horror, gothic, and folklore all of which will appear on this blog. Hello, there! I have been a long-time lurker in the studyblr community, and I decided that It's about time I joined in on the fun! This is a sideblog that I am revamping to use for study-related content. I am currently taking a few summer classes at my community college, and I'd like to use this blog to keep myself motivated.

About me:

Undergraduate first year (I started in spring)

Currently 20, but will be turning 21 in August

I live in New England (America)

Currently pursuing a Liberal Arts Degree with a Math Focus

I am hoping to go into a math-related career. At the moment, forensic accounting interests me, but I am definitely open to other things.

I'd like to get into reading, but that has been slow going

Goals:

Stay on top of my classwork

Get above an 80% in all of my classes

What to expect:

I'd love to give a tangible list of what to expect, but this is also the first blog that I will be making (hopefully consistent) personal posts to ever. It'll be as much a surprise to you as to me. Uni Update: Week 2

So, after saying how organised I'd be last week, I ended up doing no studying at all (thanks chronic illness) and now have to catch up this week. Luckily week 1 wasn't too busy so it should be manageable.

It's also the new financial year this week so I've started a new planner that lays out tasks really well which I'm hoping will work better than my pencil sketch table.
