Sister thought there should’ve been more Auld Lang Syne type catharsis. She was not a fan of the low key cliff hanger lol

The McManus/Glynn fight always feels like it sort of came out of nowhere to me. I’m on Glynn’s side because WTF is McManus even talking about thb? When does Glynn even really get seen having to deal with the white prisoners' bullshit outside of Schillinger and Peter Schibetta? (Also, when McManus uses Hill as an example of Glynn taking the side of a black inmate, I can't for the life of me figure out what that is referring to). I understand that the race divide/tension is a thing among the prisoners due to the boxing match, but some of the lines that the show tries to draw and connect throughout this episode don’t make that much sense. I know that the muddling of issues is sort of the point when the aspect of COs vs prisoners gets thrown into the mix, but McManus yelling at Glynn about the racial aspect just seems weird. I guess it makes more sense/gives more causation to next season when Glynn hires Querns to take McManus’s place, but honestly I feel like McManus being how he is at that point is cause enough.

Chapter 5: Wild Crying Bullet

Three? I thought there were... hmmm... *goes back to check* Ok, so: - Monev the Gale (1) and E.G. Mine (2) went down before they made it to Jenora Rock. - Dominique the Cyclops (3) went down right before Fifth Moon. - After Fifth Moon, they ran into Rai-Dai (4), then Leonov the Puppetmaster (5) and Gray the Ninelives (6). - Then we have Zazie the Beast (7), Midvalley the Hornfreak (8), and Hoppered the Gauntlet (9) here right now. - And we have Wolfwood (10). That means we're missing two out of the 12. So there's a good chance that either Wolfwood doesn't know about the other two, or they were brought in after Wolfwood was sent out. Wolfwood's not an idiot, but it's not like he was privy to Livio's conversation with Vash about there being 12 coins. I suppose one could assume Livio and Knives are the last of those 12, but the way the coins are presented implies both those two are exempt from Gung-Ho Gun status. Also, those who've watched Stampede might be able to take a guess at who we're missing.

Oooof, Midvalley's gonna be a rough fight.

Soooo long story short .. my mom was in bad relationship and I took his last name cuz I was young when they got married. Fast forward to now they been divorced two years and finally last month (3?) ish months my name change came through to get rid of his last name. And at the time I panicked and said yeah don’t need to change my first and middle. (Both ‘girl’ names. And I’ve never liked them but didn’t want to hurt my mom’s feelings but she said I can change it if I want. So I said nah it’s good. But now more and more I look at it I don’t like them. And don’t like my chest that’s a whole other post. But yeah I want to change my first and middle but ugh it was such a long and took forever and hard process to just change my last name. So guess I’m posting to say one day I’ll change first and middle .. 🤷 when I don’t know.. but for now thought I share a list I’ve started the last few months of names I like. Haha so unlike never want kids I have names I like for me haha. Sooo yeah I don’t know if I have a question other than what name do you all like? Or what other name ideas you have?? And that’s why I always say call me M on here. Cuz never liked my name.. but if need any idea my last name now starts with a H.. so I don’t care if it doesn’t sound good together but if that’s helps you with any ideas.

the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙

that being said. the mouse puzzles were SO fucking infuriating. i caused poor noelle a LOT of grief with those and i feel bad.

SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!

also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!

ugh. fucking berdly. so smug and pretentious. i love queen's desire to be as far away from him as possible though

i also like his backstory. it gives his behavior, even if it's still annoying, at least some context. i get the feeling of feeling like if you're not smart, people will forget about you, and that's scary.

I’m back???

WHO THE FUCK USES TUMBLR ANYMORE? Like I’m sure no one that follows me or that I follow use it......

I’m back because I want to start blogging and sharing my thoughts, feelings and various things that occur to me during my days. My memory is shit so this will be useful in the future. Also, this is a great way to reflect and express myself as I continue to fight my fucking demons. My tumblr is as old as these demons. This is hilarious XD!

“I fucked up”

Today, it fucking monsooned in the middle of the day. A coworker tried to come in from her car by using her car sunshade....BIG MISTAKE. LITERALLY IT WAS RAINING SIDEWAYS. She looked like a reporter during a storm! Rain and wind beat her up. We get her through a sidedoor instead of the front one and she was drenched. When asked why she didn’t just wait it out she said, “ I had a salad but no fork....I really wanted to eat my salad...I fucked up guys” XDDDD! Some crazy ass stuff. Luckily she had a spare change of clothes in the car. We put a heater on her and kept her warm until the storm stopped and she could go change.

“My gym wife came back”

Okay. Like my gym wife in my mind. I’ve never talked to her ;-; I’m too SHY! Like I think it is completely weird to approach girls in general. The gym is even worse, because it’s so weirddddd when dudes try to talk to girls at the gym... ugh. ANDDD I have a mean as fuck face soooo no one wants to fuck with me. Anywho, my gym wife works out GOOD. Not just booty workouts like these other hoes out here. She knows how to workout everything and I’m honestly in awe. Big legs. Slim waist. Good definition in her back and arms. UGHHHHHHH >///< SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. Best of all, she’s a connoisseur of anime. She had on some anime shirts a few of the times she came.

Anywho, she had been mia for like 3 weeks. I was so sad ;( but she came back today. YES. She saw me and we kinda made eye contact. I looked away trying to focus on my cardio (bike riding today). Closed my eyes and just pedaled away. About a few minutes later, I open them and guess what? She picked the elliptical in front of me. RIGHT FUCKING IN FRONT OF ME. Out of ALLLLLLLL of the machines, she had to pick the one in front of me. Lord. I was being tested. Her legs were POPPIN. I prayed so hard and closed my eyes. I had to RESIST THE SIN. THE TEMPTATION to peek. I opened my eyes to change a song and she does the equivalent of a super effective attack (think fire vs grass), she FUCKING PUTS HER HANDS ON HER WAIST AND KIND MAKES HER ASS EVEN BIGGER. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

I almost had a heart attack. I pressed my eyes closed so fucking hard I got a headache. I was being tested. I finished my shit and quickly GTFO of there. LORD HELP. Shortly after I left, I noticed she left. Literally all this happened in like less than 10 minutes. Girl there is no way you just decided to do cardio for that short of time knowing how seriously you take working out.

Maybe senpai notices me....who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯   (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻  Hopefully I see her again tomorrow. Some good motivation to push through my workout in addition to my extreme hatred for myself and trying to get back at all of those who said I ain’t shit.

I am in no way a good analyst so my little analysis and speculations probably sound a bit goofy or pretty wild and probably mean nothing at all. Everything I put into this post about each episode is purely what I noticed or thought, whether it's funny or serious. I will be making jokes, so please just leave it at that (in no way am I trying to make fun of an actor and or character!) I am also in no way saying I noticed this stuff first. ☂ First off I’d like to say that this is one of my favorite episodes of this season. It’s just soooo good

☂ The second comic book in the window features the Televator from the actual comics, so that has to be canon in the show! Also at the time that that second comic came out, Five had already left since we don’t see him on the cover

☂ It’d be cool if they actually printed Vanya’s book for fans to read

☂ Well Diego isn’t wrong when he called Hazel and Cha Cha animals because of their masks

☂ Honestly I feel Vanya’s struggle with chair placement. I’ve fortunately had the luck of playing in all three clarinet chair placements, but 1st chair is challenging. I personally found each placement very fun to play, especially 3rd, and I hope Vanya does too! (why am I talking like she’s real)

☂ Hazel talks about people living ordinary lives, but didn’t he live like that too at one point? How does The Commission recruit people? If they get ordinary people, do they wipe their memories of their previous lives?

☂ “Let’s see’em get out from behind their desks, get their hands dirty for once.” Well Hazel, Five does indeed do this even though he only had a desk job for a day. Still, he got to experience both worlds

☂ My mind is blanking on this, but how did Five get that cut on his arm? Was it from a bullet wound at Gimbel’s? 

☂ Five must have a high pain tolerance to stitch his own wound but his bandaid probably wouldn’t stick due to the wet blood he slapped it over. Five sweetie you need a cotton pad and gauze for that one

☂ Wait, you’re telling me that The Umbrella Academy boys’ top uniform consists of a tank top, a white dress shirt, a tie, a sweater vest, and then the blazer? Someone asked Reginald what he wanted for the uniforms and he just said “Yes.”

☂ Five: *puts hands in pockets only to immediately take them out*

☂ Aidan almost sounds like he has an accent when he says “I'm done funding your drug habit.” 

☂ Five’s so soft talking to his wife

☂ No Leonard, your bread and butter is being a creep

☂ Also, he thinks wood carving is embarrassing? If someone came up to me and showed me something they carved out of wood I would be so jealous cause it’s such a neat form of art

☂ Leonard saying that he carved wood, and in that case wooden figures, when he was a kid is a slight foreshadow of all of his tampering with his Umbrella Academy figures. He can make wooden figures but he’s also destroyed a handful of the Hargreeves figures 

☂ “Never really did like The Beatles.” Well sir you’ve made me dislike you even more

☂ Vanya asking Allison if her siblings wanted her at the family meeting bugs me a bit. I absolutely get that she was literally left out of anything and everything that had to do with her siblings when she was younger, but Allison just asked her to come back home for a family meeting. Allison wouldn't have walked around looking for Vanya only to tell her that they were having a family meeting and that she wasn’t actually invited. Allison is including her in on a family meeting but Vanya is just in a bit of disbelief that she’s being included

☂ Ah yes, the only PTSD flashback for Five we see in the show! He looks so scared when he snaps out of it. I believe it was somehow triggered by the kids (I could be wrong) but do you think Five sometimes panics when he looks at himself in the mirror now since his body is the same age it was when he got stuck? Also it’s very subtle but when Luther opens the door, Five slightly jerks/flinches back. I wish we would see more of this in the show since it’s one of his major traumas

☂ “Does it matter? It’s Klaus.” Ouch! Well Five I hope you know that your siblings are somewhat thinking the same thing since they believe that you’ve lost your mind and are practically an old man crying “Apocalypse!” 

☂ Five does an ever so slight huff and smirk when Luther tells him that the meeting at the Academy is important. He finds it a little funny but so frustrating in his mind that Luther doesn’t know what’s truly important

☂ Also I love that Aidan has to turn to the side so that he can keep it together after Klaus talks about his chocolate pudding waxing. Either that or he’s portraying Five as being frustrated and in disbelief. Also this is the first time I’ve noticed that he says “Ay, ay ay...” 

☂ “We’re all you have. And you know it.” Oh Luther, you’re failing to see that that’s why he’s acting like this right now. He’s all frantic and crazed about trying to stop the apocalypse so that he can protect and save all that he has

☂ Five certainly is mad at Luther during his mini lecture. He’s clenching his jaw tightly and when he first speaks he hisses out the words through gritted teeth. He even called Luther by his number. He’s very impatient at this point and doesn’t care for Luther’s act of attempting to be a leader

☂ This is their first, and certainly not last, time watching Klaus go by in front of them doing something he shouldn’t be doing

☂ “You haven’t been home in a long time, Vanya.” Sir you were also just on the moon for four years. Yeah Vanya was away for a long time but Grace easily could have changed too during the four years you were gone

☂ How sweet, even though Five hasn’t really been home they want to include him in on the family vote :]

☂ I’ve noticed that in S1 that David really mumbles his lines. A lot

☂ I wish we got more flashbacks of the younger Umbrellas

☂ Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️

☂ It’s confusing as to which country TUA takes place in, but it’s really not supposed to be a specific one. It’s portrayed as being in North America, but you can see behind Cha Cha when she gets out of the car at the Academy the flag of the RAF, which Canada would have at a monument since it’s a Commonwealth country. At the same time though Delores came from Gimbels, which was a department store chain across the U.S

☂ The light above Five’s portrait is slightly crooked, which probably means no one has really been paying attention to it

☂ It makes me nervous that Klaus wipes bubbles onto his face. It looks like he got some in his eyes

☂ Ugh I love the whole scene of Hazel and Cha Cha walking around the Academy with “We’re Through” playing

☂ Diego: *has knives but instead chooses to punch and hit Hazel to try to make him let go of Allison”

☂ A rope-a-dope is a boxing tactic of pretending to be trapped against the ropes, goading an opponent to throw tiring ineffective punches. Diego sweetie Hazel wasn’t even trying to get you off of him all he was doing was choking Allison. The only person who got tired was probably you

☂ What’s the point in Diego yelling “Luther, go!” if he’s already going 💀

☂ Luther was there immediately when Hazel attacked Vanya. That means that Luther heard Vanya and was going to go get her to safety

☂ I will never stop signing my praise for the entirety of the “Sinnerman” fight scene(s). It gives me chills every single time. Easily one of the best scenes in all of the show

☂ Klaus must really have his music blasting if he can’t hear the gun shots right next to him

☂ I’ve always wondered if Allison actually registered in her mind that “The boy” is Five when Cha Cha says that’s who they’re looking for. Either she does realize that’s Five, is simply just angry that those two are looking for a boy, or registers in her mind that it’s Five through his superhero codename even though Cha Cha’s not referring to him in that way

☂ Diego is full on just standing in the background watching Allison get beat up by Cha Cha 🕴

☂ I love Diego’s little hand flap when he gets hit in the hand fighting Cha Cha

☂ Okay so I make everything about Five, but the whole Cha Cha fight scene with Allison and then Diego kind of scares me. Cha Cha and Hazel are both amazing assassins (they’re both probably right below Five) and neither Allison nor Diego could stop her by themselves. Could you imagine Five fighting one of his siblings? Especially with his spatial jumps? We already got a glimpse of his true combat skills when he fights Lila in S2. What a scary little old man

☂ “Vanya, get out of here!” Again, wanting to make sure that Vanya is safe and gets away. He even tried to go look for her

☂ Something I don’t really get about the Hazel and Luther fight is why doesn’t Luther just overpower him? Luther has super strength and on top of that he has giant muscles due to the gorilla DNA. Shouldn’t he be able to beat Hazel to a pulp? Maybe we have to consider that Hazel might have been altered by The Commission to be stronger and more durable, but they haven’t mentioned that in the show

☂ “Ah, you gotta cut down on that fast food, soldier.” What are you talking about Diego he literally just got off the moon two days ago aflksjfdk

☂ So Luther was too injured to jump out of the way of the chandelier but was able to push it up off of himself? 🤔

☂ I personally think that Luther’s body design adaptation for the show is really cool and that they gave him the perfect amount of bulk without making him look ridiculous

☂ This has been pointed out before, but cross-stitch foreshadowing, baby 

☂ Again, Diego my beloved mama’s boy ♥️

☂ Well at least Diego thought about Vanya dying before thinking about his siblings dying because of her. The latter is ironic!

☂ The clock above Luther’s mirror reads approximately 1:30 am. Hazel and Cha Cha didn’t want to wait until morning

☂ I wonder how different it would be if Five was present at the Academy when Hazel and Cha Cha attacked. He probably would have surrendered himself to them, but it's fun to entertain the idea that he would go apeshit if he knew that they were harming his family in order to find him

The Ultimate Girly Playlist lol!

I feel that this playlist, is very “girly” whatever that means to you (LOL) But, I guess this is the part where everyone says, “you’re such a girrrrllll” and the answer is I am surely am! (teehee) but these songs, are soooo good trust me guys! This playlist, really is for everyone, any gender, taste of music or anything you identify with, maybe if you just want some sweet mellow songs to jam out too in the long car ride, or need a heartbreak playlist, or even a relatable playlist in general for any kind of mood, in which you need a relaxing vibe for a hectic day. The first song is, Taylor Swift ‘Tim Mcgraw’, I am not a country fan like that at all, but she is the exception, it is so funny, because this song of hers, is perhaps, the most country one she wrote out of all of them, but it is such a soothing song, and the guitar in the background, is so well done with this song. Not like a typical, cheesy, country song at all, it is for sure poetic, heartwarming, and leaves you with that haunted feeling. I think like most people I discovered her through her many famous boyfriends in the beginning and her performing at awards shows, but now she is a legit artist in her own right. 

The next song, on “the girly playlist” we shall call it, is by Jorja Smith, called ‘Teenage Fantasy’ she is an underrated British artist, and did a song with a super popular rapper, over there as well, named Stormzy, she made this widely popular song, about the struggles of just being alive in a time, where people take things and love for granted. I discovered, her through the rapper stormzy and realized her songs, feed my soul. <3 It’s really chill vibes, but has that weird Lana-Del-Rey spunk to it. It’s so funny, that most British artists lose their accent when they sing, but with Jorja, she remains her British accent very well, and it’s so cool to listen to it.  Here it is, hope you listen and enjoy ;) 

I also this literal, unknown artist, who is also a Brit (haha) her name is Lucy Rose, she made this song called, ‘Shiver’ and I first heard the song through randomly surfing through YouTube playlists, and just stumbled on it, literally did not have a lot of views, but I gave it shot, and it was so worth it. When I find songs that sound so good and that not a lot of people have listened to, it makes me happy, that I am helping these artists, through listening and clicking their songs, she actually wrote the song herself and produced/stars in the video, which btw, before you listen to it...WARNING! It is so heartbreaking :( when you see the story. But boy, is it worth understanding the message, of always living in the now. The song, is basically about how, a man still remembers his late wife, and watches back their old videos, of them young and flying a kite. Which his wife loved, he visits the exact same spot at old age, and hugs the kite, remembering the warmth she brought him (UGH SO FUCKING SAD...brb gonna go cry) :( anyways, here it is! xo 

The next song is popular (obvi!) it is by Ariana Grande, called ‘POV’, her songs are so widely known, it almost you have to live under a rock to know them, since they are played everywhere, but this specific song, I came to know when I texted my friend, during COVID, and felt really lost, that I didn’t have an internship yet, and I think in our modern times, we define ourselves through our resumes and jobs. And this song, Ari is talking about how, it’s better to look at ourselves through the lenses of people that love us, rather than our own at times, because we are indeed....so hard on ourselves, it is a shame, we do this, but she herself wrote this song, during the aftermath of what was her ‘worst year personally and best year for her career’ in her own words, she said, that this song, ‘is how deeply I feel about the person that loves me...’ and if you read this article it is very much about him. 

The next song is actually one of my favorites on the playlist, the singer (Queen Naija) and backstory is SO interesting. She was in-fact a YouTuber first, she then rose to fame, through her breakup with a man she made YouTube videos with, regarding their relationship and she lived an ordinary life with him. But through her YouTube, she still always sang songs, during American-Idol, which she competed in at 14, she was told, she was pitchy, but after her breakup, which she said was, ‘embarrassing’ she wrote Medicine and it has over a million views on Youtube, it’s basically, her addressing her breakup, in a hidden way, about how she can do the exact same in the situation as her ex-partner did to her. The reason why it resonates with so many people, is for the fact, that Queen Naija, said she wants to show, how we all are capable of doing equal, things to each other, and so it’s best just to treat each other equally as well, because we are capable of treating each other equally as bad.

The TJLC Debacle: 3 years out from S4 and counting; the copyright mini-theory; so much salt I’m bloated; but in the end, there is peace (I love you Johnlockers)

Ugh, don't even talk to me about Mary.

Don't even talk to me about the way Mofftiss have said they're sick of responding to fans on the subject of Johnlock. Of how they've said they're "not telling anyone else what to think or write about them" (as if they could stop us; as if they even own Sherlock themselves. Do keep reading, because this point becomes much more relevant and in-jokey later on). Don't even mention how they've bitched and whined incessantly because--god forbid--fans got *really really* into their show and emotionally invested.

They're so eager to discount all the beautiful little moments they wrote as accidents. And Arwel, who planted all those props, continually demonstrates that he's on their side (a not-very in-depth-analysis of his Instagram account and the way he interacted with fans towards the beginning of the pandemic showed as much, but I think maybe he’s grown a bit wiser and quieter since at least in terms of Johnlock and all things elephant-related. I don’t know for sure because I stopped looking.)

Anyway--they'd actually prefer for us to celebrate our own intelligence, is I suppose a charitable way of looking at it: our ability to make connections between things in the show; our metas on symbolism; our insightful fanfic; etc., and denounce them as the bad writers that they ultimately are.

Because what makes a writer good?

Well, an ability to make people feel an emotional connection to their work, for one. I know this is just my own perspective, but if not for Johnlock, all my emotion about the show would evaporate. There wouldn't be much else there. Other people might get something, but I wouldn’t. Is some of the writing witty and entertaining regardless of any inferred/implied Johnlock? Yeah but, eh, a lot of shows have some good writing and I just don’t give a damn about them.

What makes a writer good?

Not making promises to the reader/viewer that they'll never keep. Plot holes, leading dialogue ("There’s stuff you wanted to say...but didn’t say it.” “Yeah”) never followed through on, puns that are apparently, I suppose, unintentional (e.g. "'Previous' commander?" "I meant 'ex'").

Uh, not writing continual gay jokes that aren't actually pointing toward the inference that people are making them because there's actually something going on there under the surface. (How about just don't make those jokes ever.)

Not being, apparently, oblivious (? questionable) to the queerbaiting they're engaging in *as they’re writing it.*

Acting like their LGBT audience is in the wrong/the bad guy, instead of choosing to remain respectful in the face of dissent. Instead it's just, "we never wrote it that way" / "We never played it that way."

A lot of those other mildly witty shows don’t actually blatantly drag their most passionate fans face-down through the mud the writers themselves created. Imagine that.

I'm not even a fan of Martin Freeman anymore, for the way he handled the whole thing (getting angry, the comments he made about how the fans made Sherlock “not fun anymore”...apparently Martin’s packing up his crayons and going home?)...no offense to anyone who is still a fan of his. I don’t make it a habit to drag him. I do to some degree understand his frustration with having the whole situation taken out on him--he’s just an actor in the show--but I simply wish he’d remained as cool and professional about it as Benedict Cumberbatch instead of pointing at the fans. You’re pointing in the wrong direction, mate.

What also irks me at the end of the day is this: the subsection of people who legitimately responded badly to the TJLC/S4 debacle and went above and beyond to harass the writers and actors/actresses on social media are *few and far between*, but we've been lumped in with them by what feels like...everyone, Martin included. TJLCers/Johnlockers (not the same group, but often treated as such) have been made to look like a bunch of rambunctious, immature, demanding children time and time and again in the wake of S4.

They'd rather, what, suggest John was so in love with Mary? THAT was the relationship they wanted to uphold in that show as so significant and...what, a demonstration of how honorable it is to respect your heterosexual relationship despite, you know...ANYTHING?

Yeah sorry, I don’t believe in that. John’s text-based affair, whether a disappointment for some as to his supposed character, was a very human reaction and I kinda sorta feel like I would have reacted MUCH more strongly than that had I been John. But nope. He stayed with Mary and was *ashamed* of his wandering eye. Ashamed that maybe he wanted to be admired by someone. I can’t think of a scene, off the top of my head, where Mary ever interacted with John without belittling him in some way--if not with words, then with consistently patronizing glances.

The message here is that heterosexuality is not just acceptable, but VALUABLE, however it manifests--but god forbid anyone see a queer subtext. (Why are lgbt+ writers some of the very WORST offenders where this is concerned? And they defend it! Is this childhood nostalgia/Stockholm Syndrome of the very fondest variety or what? Gay angst is all they got if they got anything at all, so it’s still good enough as far as “representation” goes?)

They really want to tell the story of John as so emotionally/mentally fucked up that he surrounds himself with unstable people time and again. They never give any reason *why* he might do that (which they could have done even soooo subtly), or delve into his past--just, apparently it's okay to assume that Sherlock's comment about "she's like that because you chose her" is exactly that.

No. Sherlock and Mary are NOT the same. Not...*remotely*!

Mary is underhanded and evil. She lies. She manipulates. She schemes. Her “love” is based on selfishness, and her assumption that John is a simpleton and hers to mold. She's in it for herself.

Sherlock hides. He prevaricates. He feels. He loves John. He does fucked up things in the name of love, but always for the benefit of those he loves. When he screws up, which he obviously does, it’s painful to us as the audience because we see that it is painful for him when he recognizes and regrets it.

I have never seen Mary regret anything. Those crocodile tears at Christmas? More manipulation. Inconsistent with anything else we were shown about her as a character.

To even think for a SECOND that people could ship Mary and John and mentally condemn John for cheating on Mary AFTER SHE SHOT HIS BEST FRIEND...as if marriage is the be-all-end-all free pass in which every sin must be forgiven until the end of time...as if John broke any covenant with his wife beyond those she broke from the very moment she walked into his life *with an entire fake past.* Is just. Well. It's asking us to accept gaslighting as healthy, loving, normal, *preferable* behavior, so...given the source that message is coming from, it's all a bit meta.

THAT. Is insanity. Maybe Mofftiss are the sociopaths.

How these men could write characters they themselves understand so little (or tell us they understand so little because their emotional maturity has yet to surpass that of the average three-year-old’s), I will never know. I can only imagine that they have absorbed, by osmosis over their lives, real and nuanced human behavior...then churned it back out again in their writing unaware, a bit like psychopaths who teach themselves what "normal" people do so that they can pass as psychologically sound in regular society.

Remember, we *are* talking about men who do these sorts of things:

Moffat says that Sherlock is celibate and that people who claim he's misogynistic when he does things like make Irene Adler imply she's attracted to the detective (even though she's a lesbian) are, ironically, "deeply offensive" (despite lines like "look at us both" in Battersea. We aren't your therapists, Moffat--we don't care what you meant, we care what you said, and what you *said* was clear. *Implying* it does not let you off the hook).

Gatiss has proclaimed that "I find flirting with the homoeroticism in Sherlock much more interesting" than the idea of ever making a show addressing LGBT issues. (That link is to a reddit forum, and I can't find the original interview anymore, but I assure you I had seen the actual article myself ages back and can't find it online again now along with some of the Martin quotes I wanted to link to. And nevermind what Gatiss has done with LGBT shows/issues since--my focus here is on what he has said, versus what he and Moffat have since claimed regarding their queerbaiting.)

Despite this lack of public awareness, being part of the gay community is clearly important to Gatiss: "The older I get the more I want to give something back. I mean, I keep meaning to do something." When asked if he'd be interested in making a series about gay issues his response was enlightening:

"No, I don't think I'd make a kind of gay programme. It's much more interesting when it's not about a single issue. And equally, I find flirting with the homoeroticism in Sherlock much more interesting. Of course this reflects the grand picture of everyone's strange make-up; there are good gay people and bad gay people. I wouldn't like to make an issue film around the culture of being gay."

Instead Gatiss' interest seems to lie in making a drama where sexuality is, if not mundane, part of the wider framework: "I'd quite like to do something about a quite happy, ordinary gay person who's just incidentally gay. For example, a three-part thriller for ITV where the lead character just happens to be gay; when they finally go home, say 45 minutes in, and they had a same sex partner. That to me would be genuinely progressive. It wouldn't be a three-part gay thriller for ITV. It would be that this character just happened to be gay."

And instead, who is canonically gay in the series? Well, Irene Adler. The innkeepers at the Cross Keys. And perhaps most notably, the *villains*, because that's a helpful trope: Moriarty and Eurus are, in S4, both implied to be at least bisexual.

Any character should be able to be any sexuality, this is true. But can we have some main characters, the good guys, give some good representation? Can't we start making that the standard, rather than the villains and the background characters? Because so far, that is the exception and not the rule.

Writers need to be aware of the damage they are perpetuating. We are not quite in a world yet where any character should be able to be any sexuality but isn't, yet we have no problem with saying the villain is LGBT+ or looks different/functions differently than much of the viewing audience.

"Male friendship is important and valid, not everything has to be gay"--this is a popular point with casual heterosexual viewers (and, to my chagrin, some of my LGBT+ friends) who don't fully grasp what "queerbaiting" is, often even when it's pointed out to them.

The lens of heterosexuality is real. My first time through watching BBC Sherlock, I didn't see the Johnlock at all. I had to look for it and read about it. When I saw it, the lens was lifted for me, and it changed my life and the way I view things forever (and for the best).

But back to my point about how little Mofftiss seem to understand their own story/most ardent fans, and then on to my other theory: in S4 it must be that they dropped their “psychopaths emulating empathy” act and indulged in their own "insane wish fulfillment" by doing away with all of the meaning, continuity, and sense. Right?

So, here’s the alternate theory. One which is not, please remember, in their defense.

Remember that S4 is what Mofftiss are *happy* to have us believe is what they'd do with these characters, given the chance to do whatever they wanted. I repeat, in Moffat’s own words: “Insane wish fulfillment.”

Okay I get it, this pasta has been over-salted.

Without further delay: MY COPYRIGHT RESEARCH THEORY THAT EVEN I DON'T PUT MUCH STOCK IN AND WHICH DOESN’T MAKE UP FOR THEIR CRUELTY EVEN IF TRUE

Part of me also raises an eyebrow at S4 as perhaps an example of the effect of the Conan Doyle estate on any modern production in the US. While it’s true that all of Sherlock is part of public domain in the UK and has been for quite a long time, Gatiss and Moffat still talk about it being partially under copyright. Specifically, the last 10 stories. I’m supposing that this means that because Sherlock airs internationally, or due to whatever contract the BBC has with the Doyle estate, they are still limited by the copyright as to what they can “publish”.

The Doyle estate is known for being a pain in the ass when it comes to abiding by copyright law as everyone else knows and practices it. They’ve tried to argue, for example (in 2013 and, much more recently, with the advent of Enola Holmes), that because Holmes and Watson were not fully developed as their final selves until the conclusion of all 10 stories still under copyright, then perhaps the characters themselves should still be protected, basically, in full.

It’s true that certain elements of the remaining stories are still under copyright here in the US (Watson had more than one wife--uh huh, we have that to look forward to, Johnlockers; the Garridebs moment is still under copyright--yeah, I’m getting to that too; and Sherlock didn’t care much for dogs til later so that’s not allowed either, fuck off Redbeard), but the estate’s problem in 2013 seemed to be based around a fear that *gasp* some day--if not right now!--anyone could write a Sherlock Holmes story in any way they pleased, changing the characters however they wished to and giving those characters “multiple personalities.”

See the following excerpt from the Estate’s case:

“...at any given point in their fictional lives, the two men's characters depend on the Ten Stories. It is impossible to split the characters into public domain versions and complete versions.”

Obviously, by this point, that’s been done in multiple iterations. So I dunno. Their argument was *more* than muddy to begin with--they just grasp at straws to stay in control, it seems.

But okay. Backing up: wasn’t there sort-of a Garridebs moment in S4?!?? you cry. Yep. But imagine this: the Conan Doyle estate taking Mofftiss to court to argue that they depicted the Garridebs moment--a moment still under copyright--in The Final Problem.

Did they, though? Did they really?

The fandom cried out about the ridiculousness--the utter disappointment--of that moment when it was shown. It was not what we would have expected/wanted. We didn’t see John injured, Sherlock reacting with tender outrage to the good doctor’s attacker.

Instead we saw some ludicrous BS that was as bad as the clown with the sword-gun-umbrella. More of that.

I think Martin probably found that it was easy to produce real tears when he thought about how fucking terrible the S4 scripts were.

Ahem. Yet, this all seems very Mofftiss-flavored in terms of humor.

I can all-too-easily imagine them saying, “HA. We’re going to show some of these supposedly copyrighted things--and if they take us to court, they’ll be laughed out of the room.” Could that explain some of the overall S4 fuckery?

Sherlock wasn’t supposed to like dogs til later stories, as previously mentioned-- is that why Redbeard pulled a “Cinderella’s carriage” and transformed into a pumpkin (Victor Trevor)? Hmm. Sigh.

It...doesn’t actually appear that the estate has any qualms about taking laughable stuff to court, I mean...*shrug.* They have the money to do it, and money is the name of the game, because you’ve got to pay for rights (cha-ching sounds).

Yep, it does seem that the estate is open to the copyrighted materials being made reality, but who knows for what price or with what caveats. The BBC isn’t, so far as I’ve ever heard, known for throwing money around. Early Doctor Who would be so much less entertaining if they’d had any sort of budget. (And in fact, more of the older episodes would exist, but apparently the BBC--in part to cut costs--reused some of their tapes.)

My bottom-line bitter is this: Mofftiss do like to amuse themselves. To please themselves and no one else, as they’ve shown time and again. Sure, they could do whatever they wanted with S4...and they did...but they were also cruel about it, and that’s what I’ll never forgive them--OR the BBC--for.

A lot of fans gave up after series 4. I was very nearly one of them. I was angry, like just about every other Johnlocker and/or TJLCer, but I was really truly heartbroken. I couldn’t look at fanfiction. My days were full of bitterness and I keenly felt the lack of the fandom outlet that had become so essential to my mental well-being. I didn't know how to overcome the disparity between TJLC and what the show actually was. I didn't know how to separate the things I loved so much from the shitty writers and the way the BBC handled things with their whole response letter (that atrocious, childish blanket response they sent to everyone who complained about S4, not just the Johnlockers/TJLCers. Related to your complaint or not, if you filed one post-S4, this was the response you got). I still boycott BBC shows/merchandise, just by the way.

So how about that? *Did* they “register our disappointment”? We can actually check that. The BBC’s website has a monthly summary of complaints received. So what did they receive in January 2017, the month S4 aired?

Huh, what do you know. Sounds like that blanket response was exactly the “fuck you” it came across as.

But the show--the FANDOM--had filled a need in my life, and so I had to own that and make it mine, or just...let something in me die: something that felt like an actual vital organ. I had to decide that these characters mean something to me beyond what anyone else tells me they should. I had to accept my own perceptions as truth, as I do with everything else in my life. I had to overcome the idea of canon as law (BBC Sherlock isn't canon anyway; ACD is canon. BBC Sherlock is, in the end, badly written fanfiction--or--worse?--decent pre-slash fanfiction distorted by consistent lies and the hazing of the LGBT audience, topped with the dumpster fire of S4′s incoherent nonsense).

I had to take the good and throw away the bad, just like anyone else who chose to stay. The good bits of the show...dialogue, yes. Plot points, yes. These awful writers did write some good stuff sometimes.

They just broke all the unspoken rules of what not to do to your audience. And then did and said everything they could not to apologize, and to justify their own failings. Which, in the years since I began shipping queer ships beyond any others, I have unfortunately experienced more than once.

So, my vulnerability has been yeeted into the vacuum of broke-my-trustdom: no one can tell me what things should mean to me. I will decide.

I decide that all of the FUCKING AMAZING writing in the Sherlock fandom is a staple in my life that makes it worth living. And that that's okay. And takes precedence over anything the writers or anyone else associated with the show could ever say or do.

Johnlock can not be taken away. It doesn't belong to them. It never did, even if they brought us to it. It belongs to us. To the group of amazingly creative, brainy, empathetic, resourceful, vibrant, resilient people who make up this fandom.

So thank YOU, all of YOU, for giving me Sherlock, Johnlock, and TJLC.

I am SO SAD for those who never found a way to make peace with this fandom again. Let me just say that I understand that inability entirely.

I am fortunate that I found the ability in myself to cling to the joy (something it has taken my whole life to be able to do). I hope others will who haven’t yet but wish they could.

Let Mofftiss and whoever sides with them stay angry and bitter and vicious, always looking over their shoulders for anyone who dares to whisper about subtext.

I’m proud to be part of what they’re whispering so angrily about.

For any Potter heads. Some things that bothered you about the Harry Potter films:

- Where is Charlie Weasley?

- Where is Peeves?

- Where are Neville’s parents?

- The green/blue/brown eye thing. (This is not against Radcliffe. Some special effects could have fixed this easily)

- HarrY DiD YOu PuT YoUR NaMe IN tHe GoBlET of FIRE?! 🔥

- In Sorcerers Stone, Why did you change the snake at the zoos breed??

- “Voldemort” versus “Voldemor”. The silent t.

- Hermione’s. Yule. Ball. Dress. Color. Blue. Not pink. She specifically changed the color.

- Fluffy. Hagrid’s adorable Cerberus was originally bought from a Greek man. Why change it to Irish? I like Ireland but it was a Greek man due to where Cerberus’s initially came from right???

- Harry’s first Weasley sweater color

- Why does Harry only see his parents in the Mirror of Eirsed? Where’s the rest of the family?

- The Underage magic rules aren’t well explained in the movies making the 3rd year summons even more bonkers sounding

- The Patil Twins Yule Ball Outfits. They could have been soooo beautiful. Like this is the Yule Ball! The Twins would have (in my opinion) much more elaborate traditional Indian styled dress robes?? Idk.

- Love Movie Hermione! But some moments take away from Ron. Like when Ron defended her in the Chamber of Secrets. Hermione didn’t know what the slur “Mudblood” meant in the books. Ron had to explain it.

- Dobby needed more screen time. Some stuff Dobby did went to Neville because so many Neville scenes were cut.

- Where’s all the secrecy from the books when communicating with Sirius- “Snuffles”? Something Harry’s godfather insisted on to keep him safe.

- Snape’s title of “The half-blood Prince” is not explained. Neither is it made clear that Severus was also abused horribly at home throughout his childhood. Also that like Harry Dumbledore did nothing to help Severus when he was a student. (Or maybe Tom Riddle when he grew up in an orphanage. I’m sensing a pattern)

- Dumbledore should have still spelled Harry during Dumbledore death scene. No way would Harry just stand there if given the choice.

- Ron was not quite as ‘dumb’ in the books and a lot of his funny moments were cut from the movie. Which makes his jealousy moments all the more unbecoming. He also comes off a bit more arrogant in the movies. (This is not against R Grint. Who is awesome) The movies gave Ron the short end of the stick.

- Weasley/Malfoy Fued. Who else wanted to see Arthur and Lucius have a fist fight in a bookstore? Exactly.

- Albus Dumbledore isn’t all Sunshine and Daisys. He does some really messed up stuff yet no one ever seems to question this.

- Remus was the last Marauder. Yet his and his wife, Tonk’s, deaths are barley acknowledged.

- Also Teddy. Harry’s Godson.

- Harry’s and Ginnys relationship is not built on. It’s just there. Ugh. Heck Movie Ginny isn’t that great. You don’t know much about her except: She’s the only girl in Ron’s family. She’s the youngest Weasley. She’s obsessed with Harry. She’s a good Quidditch player. She has a temper. She was possessed by Riddle’s Dairy when she was eleven. She’s obsessed with Harry.

- Draco is essentially Harry’s antithesis. Where is he in some critical scenes in the movies?

- Where’s the Luna love???? Harry’s pretty rude to her in some scenes.

- There is no S.P.E.W. And Hermione’s more ruthless side is gone.

- The guys hair in The Goblet of Fire. Get a hair cut. Please.

- Some of Molly’s less than Stellar Moments. (Ex. When she believed rumors about Hermione and so treated he coldly. How horrible she was to Fleur. Ect)

- Fleur. Fleur and Bill still get married but the objections to the wedding aren’t as presented in the movies. Not is Molly’s and Ginny’s extreme dislike of Fleur. Or when Arthur apologizes to Fleur. Or really any of Fleurs best moments. The whole courting process is skipped.

- House Elves. The House Elves of Hogwarts.

- Percy Weasley. The ‘betrayal’. The returned Weasley sweater. Him turning to protect his family and fight for Hogwarts at the last minute. All gone. Which involves being forgiven by the Weasley Twins not an hour before Fred dies.

- The connection of the Black sisters. Specifically Adromeda - mother of Tonks. Who is Sirius cousin. Who married Remus Lupin. Tonks and Remus the parents of Teddy.

- Dean Thomas is pretty much gone.

- Rita Skeeter. Illegal Animagus. Hermione kept her in a jar.

- The movies didn’t allow Radcliffe to be sassy and sarcastic enough. Harry Potter is one of the sassiest boys to ever walk through the halls of Hogwarts!

- Harry didn’t fix his wand in the last movie.

- The history of the Marauders.

- The history explaining why Snape could never be comfortable around and trust Remus Lupin.

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 2 Recap: It’s Group B Time, let’s meet them! (Commentary & Guesses)

Hello my fellow Masked Singer fanatics! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana (nice to virtually meet you btw), recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. Here we are again with season 5, but this time another group, Group B, which consist of Black Swan 🖤🦢, Piglet 🐷, Chameleon 🦎, Grandpa Monster 👹 👴, and Phoenix 🦜.

So, let’s begin with the first eliminated contestant of Group B:

Commentary: Ok, so this wasn’t surprising whatsoever, she sang Tik Tok by Kesha and you can obviously tell that she isn’t a singer at all. Like idk how else to explain it to you guys, but I guess she was talk singing... kind of like Wendy/the lips last season... so it was kind of easy the moment she opened her mouth to start singing to recognize immediately who it was...

Having said that, she was revealed to be (as I knew, this one wasn’t hard)...

Caitlyn Jenner

Hehe I knew it! Again, like Wendy Williams aka the lips, this was way too obvious. She already walked around Hollywood Blvd with the Don’t Talk to me hoodie on so I knew she was going to be on the show but the min I saw Phoenix, the clues, and the moment she opened her mouth, I was so certain it was Caitlyn. No, I am not a big Kardashian/Jenner fan tbh but I used to watch the show way back when.... like in 2016? I am not sure, but I recognized her voice immediately.

Now onto my guesses for the remaining 4:

1. Black Swan 🦢🖤

Commentary: So she sang Barracuda by Heart and damn, she got a strong voice! It’s a really amazing voice, even though the song choice wasn’t my favorite, because it didn’t suit her voice completely and showcase her range, but she was badass (can I say that? Whatever, this is my show, I’ll say it, it’s not THAT bad of a word) tbh. In certain parts, she was like screaming a lot and I was like um maybe this isn’t her best song choice but her voice is amazing! She gives me Seahorse mixed with Flamingo vibes, I love her!

I think she is singer extraordinaire:

Jojo (not Siwa but we have another Jojo on our hands)

Reasoning/Clues: there are so many clues that match but her voice is the main thing that clicked for me that it was her, but let’s look at those clues so you can get the picture:

Wanted Poster with RV highlighted= she appeared in the movie RV with Robin Williams

She talks about being trapped and someone else’s prey and then getting out of it= she was trapped in her record label & there was controversy surrounding it and she had to sue her label for not releasing her music

A 5 on a watch= she toured with 5th harmony and has released 5 albums

Cluedledoo (Rooster) clue= she covered a monster= she covered one of T-Pain aka the Monster from season 1’s songs

2. Piglet 🐷

Commentary: He was my favorite of the night with his rendition of Speechless by Dan + Shay! You guys know if you have seen my recaps in season 3 (or even last week with Robopine) that I have a soft spot for a guy who has a super silky voice, like either boy band type or R&B smooth af kinda vibe (i.e. Fox in season 2, Turtle in season 3, Robopine in season 5).... or should I say any guy who can falsetto and Piglet is giving me those boy band smooth vibes, I love it so much! His voice is soooo familiar I am so sure about this one by the way.

My guess and I am so sure of this is:

Nick Lachey

Reasoning/Clues: This one I recognized immediately, the voice was really easy to figure out, but these clues also are pretty convincing (oh and he was on Ken’s show, I Can See Your Voice, so it’s not surprising that he would be on this show):

The clue package had a dating show vibe = reminiscent of Love is Blind, the Netflix dating show he hosts with his wife Vanessa

The world saw his heart break= he had a very public relationship with his ex-wife Jessica Simpson and they even had a reality show together called Newlyweds

Cluedle-doo clue: “knows how to stay cool even in the heat”= referring to his past aka his boy band 98 degrees (get it? Because that’s the heat and they are cool because they are a boy band... well played Masked Singer well played... I wanna meet whoever makes these clues because they are great with puns and they seem super clever)

3. Chameleon 🦎

Commentary: Chameleon surprised me I am not gonna lie. I thought he was going to be another athlete like Whatchamacallit last season or White Tiger from season 3 because he was so tall but nope he surprised me with his rendition of Ride with Me by Nelly. He seems like a legit rapper and I liked him a lot than I thought I would honestly so this guess isn’t totally out of left field.

Wiz Khalifa

Reasoning/Clues: so yeah, the voice and the height kinda gave it away to me (Wiz is 6 foot 4 inches and his body type matches the chameleon), but also yeah clues I have to give you guys some logic bombs instead of being like eh that voice and height BOOM WIZ KHALIFA... yeah no it doesn’t work like that, so here are the logic bombs hehe:

Dice with 2 and 3 on it= he did a song with Miley Cyrus called 23

007 clue= he has a song called (yes this is real, look it up) James Bong (omg I am trying not to laugh while typing this but whatttt?! Google really is a gem omg 😳😂) and he played James Bond in the music video

His love of technology & “put tech in technicolor”= apparently, the guy is a huge tech geek and has said it in a lot of interviews (wow humans are so complex and cool, I would have never thought that this man is a tech savvy guy... but the more you know I guess <P.S. I Googled half of these things... like idk this off the top of my head duh, I usually go by voice with my guesses and then I google the clues>)

4. Grandpa Monster

Commentary: He sang Mambo No. 5 and yeah it’s a basic choice for a song, but I liked it. He is not my favorite by any means and now that I listen to it again, I can only hear this person and I am not a fan of him like whatsoever (even tho I gotta acknowledge he has changed and I have *I KNOW... I HATE ME TOO* agreed with stuff he has said in his podcast un ironically.... yeah I am so sorry, I hate myself for saying this too... anyways let’s just get to the person I mean

I have a sneaking suspicion that it is (unfortunately):

Logan Paul

Reasoning/Clues: Yup, um... I really hope I am wrong but honestly ever since someone said it in the YouTube comments section of his performance, I can’t un hear it and I am shook honestly (at least it’s not his brother... I mean we can get worse, and he has respected the pandemic and not been a prick like his *cough* brother *cough*... just saying.. oh and if you don’t know what I am talking about or who this is, he’s a YouTuber who got into some um controversy because he filmed a dead body in 2018 so there’s that... oh and his brother has done a billion worse things than him, but you can Google that one if you are interested in finding out more because it’s too much for me to talk about and we are not even talking about Jake (that’s the brother))... Anyways, sorry, I ramble, but ugh the clues seem convincing and it irks me that it is because I am not a fan of neither of these guys and I don’t want them in the show but whatever I guess he’s the lesser of 2 evils:

He was a troublemaking fool as a youngster= yeah probably regarding that suicide forest video a couple of years ago (that ok, lemme give him credit, he has apologized for it and has kind of proven himself... yuck I hate saying that, I am NOT defending him I swear)

Acting out for all eyes on me= he used to be very well known for pranks on his channel back in the day (before the incident) and he did some stupid stuff for clout lemme tell ya (I never liked these guys, like ever, I thought they were weird.... not my demographic I guess, I wasn’t 12 nor a boy)

6 in Xs and Os like football plays = he did play football 🏈 in high school, he was so good that and actually attributes playing football for long term brain damage he has that makes him as the Wikipedia article says it (I am legit gonna quote what it says because I thought it was fascinating) “affects his ability to have empathy and a human connection with others.” (Mind you, he himself claimed this according to this article)

“Acting out”= he has acted in a few things before and starred in The Thinning

Web with the shooting star= he is a web star, get it? YouTube... web star... hehe again these clue writers are *chef’s kiss*

Cluedle-doo clue: he has trained for battle= now his new thing is boxing and he has trained for actual fights before, his first one being against British YouTuber KSI which he lost... oh and I almost forgot, how can I forget this cute little detail.... he is set to fight Floyd Mayweather this summer apparently... OH AND DID I MENTION HE IS MAKING 5 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THIS DEAL?! He’s winning either way with this fight like damn... but that wasn’t part of it, I just thought it was trippy... again I say, Google is a gem, u find some interesting reads

Episode 9: Peid-a-Terre

Malcolm is bad at relationships. Also he needs a hug. And I don’t like Eve.

Here are my thoughts.

SPOILERS

1:25 - Malcolm holding the stuffed panda is upsetting and adorable. 

1:54 - Why does Gabrielle sound surprised here? Doesn’t she know that Malcolm is missing time? She’s know him since he was a kid. 

2:23 - hahaha Malcolm looks so confused when Gabrielle asks if he was aroused. 

3:30 - hahaha something about this music and Malcolm trying to flirt with people is freaking hilarious. 

4:25 - This scene. Ugh. First of all - look at how nervous Malcolm looks when he asks Eve out. How sweet is that?....also how much experience do you think Malcolm has dating? I’m really curious about when/if he dated as a teenager/college student and how that worked. SECONDLY, Eve. Ugh. I’ll be transparent. I don’t like her. Never have. BUT look at her reaction to Malcolm asking her out. She looks pleasantly surprised but almost in a “aww this guy is adorable but I’m so out of his league” kind of way? Is she actually attracted to him?!? Or just trying to get information from him? I can never quite tell. 

4:53 - Look at Malcolm’s face. He’s happy and shocked that she said yes. He genuinely looks so surprised that she said yes. Is his level of self-worth so low that he thinks no one would ever want to date him? The mere idea shatters my heart.

5:10 - You think Malcolm told Gil about Eve during this phone conversation? When the show cuts to the title screen? 

6:00 - I love this. Look how happy Malcolm is. He’s making jokes. Smiling. Ugh. He deserves to feel like this more often. 

6:49 - OMG. Hilarious but NOT appropriate Edrisa. hahaha Gil looks so exasperated. 

7:13 - Dani’s facial expression here is everything. Makes sense too. She probably loves JT like a brother. Hearing about your brother’s sex-life (even vague details) is nasty. Also. Loving that JT has been married for 7 years. That was a tidbit of information I didn’t know I wanted or needed. 

7:22 - I have so many questions about Edrisa’s life outside of work. Who is this woman? Where does one find cuddle parties?!? Also Gil, JT and Dani’s reactions to the cuddle party are everything. They’re just mildly surprised but they also have an air of “well, of course you did” about them.

7:41 - Another example of why Jessica needs some lady friends to talk to. She’s calling her son to vent about her personal problems. Don’t get me wrong - that’s not wrong necessarily but she clearly needs someone to talk to outside of her children. 

8:00 - That little comment is really interesting. What does Jessica tell people that Malcolm does when she isn’t forced to divulge his actual career? Or does she just not mention his career at all unless someone directly asks about it?

8:25 - Look at Gil here. He’s in total Dad mode. He wants Malcolm to talk to his mom. Listen to how soft his voice is and the concerned/desperate look that he gives Malcolm. It’s like wants to talk to his coparent about their kid’s trauma but he doesn’t want to be the one to break the news to Jessica. 

9:34 - This husband (David) immediately strikes me as weird. He’s almost too emotional at the scene. “Imagine if we had been here.” He’s overcompensating for something. And his wife - she looks scared. 

9:44 - How does Dani know that JT is good with kids?! I want a fic. Has JT had to interact with kids on other cases? Has a cop brought their kid into the precinct and JT hung out with the kid? I want details. The idea of JT with a kid is really cute and I feel robbed that we didn’t get to see him hang out with Molly during this episode.

10:10 - I love that Gil and Malcolm can have a completely silent conversation. Gil clearly understands that Malcolm is going to follow the wife and question her because she thinks that she’s acting suspicious. 

10:25 - Damn. Is this a rich person public washroom or an apartment washroom? 

11:08 - This club is cray cray. Seriously? Does this stuff really exist?!? I mean I’m sure it does? (FYI I’m a sexually repulsed asexual so all this sex stuff is genuinely mind boggling to me....and I’ve probably overshared.)

12:35 - Gonads?!? hahaha I love that Malcolm uses that term.

12:42 - hahaha JT. “I’m out”. I love how amused Malcolm looks here. It makes me wonder - is JT actually uncomfortable with this? JT says a lot of funny stuff around Malcolm. Is it because that’s just the way JT is? OR is it because JT is a good friend and wants Malcolm to smile and be happy more often? Even if it’s only for a few seconds?

13:03 - I love how blunt and clinical Edrisa is to all of this sex stuff. Gil’s reaction to her is perfect too. He’s clearly a little uncomfortable but he’s mostly just exasperated with Edrisa’s behaviour.

13:54 - This little conversation between Malcolm and JT is really great. Malcolm is clearly nervous about his date and nervous about asking JT for advice. We get to see a side of JT here that we really don’t get to see often. The articulate, kind, respectful man who has been happily married for 7 years. He gives Malcolm some genuinely good advice and you can see how much JT adores his wife when he talks about playing pool with her. It’s such a great Malcolm/JT bonding moment. 

14:55 - Huh. Did Malcolm pay the settlement personally? Was the lawsuit against the NYPD or Malcolm himself? I’m curious. I can see Malcolm feeling bad about it (even though it did save Nico’s life) and insisting on paying out of pocket. It’s kind of sweet (and creepy) that he’s keeping tabs on Nico. Look at Malcolm’s eyes in this scene. He’s looking a little manic and a lot desperate.

15:05 - ALSO JT’s surprised proclamation of pride for Nico is everything. I love this more personal side of JT that we see in this episode. It really makes his character a lot less 2D. 

16:06 - Are they drinking non-alcoholic beverages? JT definitely has a beer. Somehow I don’t think Gil would authorize drinking on the job, in the middle of a case. Also, why is Dani sitting with Gil as opposed to JT? It’s much more believable that Dani and JT are on a date than Gil and Dani (because - age).

16:43 - Gil looks soooo grossed out here. I don’t blame him. Listening to your kid talk about kinky sex is probably really awful. 

17:25 - Look at Malcolm’s face. He looks uncomfortable, a little scared even. He really doesn’t want to have sex with this lady. It makes me wonder if he’s someone who is only interested in having sex with a long-term partner - in which case I really wonder what his sex-life has been like. Also, look at the team. They are all clearly not excited about the prospect of listening to Malcolm have sex with this lady.

17:45 - Malcolm rolling his eyes at his phone conversation is cute. He’s comfortable enough with Dani and Gil to banter with them at his own expense. I wish he was that comfortable around more people.

18:45 - Look at Malcolm’s eyes. He’s scared. He’s doing his job but he’s definitely scared. Maybe not of this lady even - maybe he’s scared because this lady is reminding him that he might be expected to have sex with Eve and he’s not ready yet.

19:00 - Papa Gil is concerned. My heart is full.

19:45 - Again. I will ask. Where. Did. JT. Go? He was at the bar/restaurant place. He didn’t come to Bright’s place from the restaurant? Where did he go and what is he doing?!? 

19:50 - Gil and Malcolm share a look after she says “attempting to have consensual sex with another adult”. What does it mean? I can’t quite figure it out. It could mean that they’re frustrated with the way the conversation is going? It could also mean something else though? Something personal? Eh. I think I’m seeing what I want to see. It’s probably the first one. 

21:05 - Lust is easy. Love is dangerous. Huh. Is that some sort of message that the writers are trying to give us with regard to Malcolm and Eve? Or another couple on the show?

22:10 - It breaks my heart that Malcolm thinks that he’s not “Dad material”. He would be a great Dad because he knows what not to do. Also because he’s worked so hard to not be his father. And Gil has been a great role model for him. #GiveMalcolmKids

23:45 - Look at the way Malcolm looks at Molly. He looks sad. Concerned. Like he suspects that her life is about the change because he still thinks her father is guilty of something that will warrant jail time.

24:14 - Firstly, Jessica looks awesome in purple. But also, she’s a little too overbearing. Please let your adult son date alone. But I will give Jess credit here. She cares about Malcolm, she tries to comfort him after his hallucination. 

25:55 - This is kind of cute. Malcolm kind of made JT his personal safety net. Malcolm was freaked out about his date but he feel comfortable with JT so he crashed JT’s date to take some of the pressure off of him and Eve. Also can we all just take a moment to appreciate that JT looks more concerned with Malcolm’s nervous/manic behaviour than he does annoyed with Malcolm? 

26:04 - I instantly LOVE Tally. I love how forward and playful she is. I love how this conversation suggests that JT talks about Malcolm at home. hahaha I’d love to hear that dinner conversation. I wonder how he and Tally met?

27:02 - This is kind of sweet. The boys on one side of the table and the girls on the other. Look at how much fun JT seems to be having. He’s acting like Malcolm’s big brother. I love it. 

27:40 - Malcolm says “My Mother’s world” not “My world”. This suggests that Malcolm doesn’t consider himself to be rich. Or at least he doesn’t consider himself to be immersed in the world of aristocracy.

28:05 - Eve looks impressed with Malcolm here. Malcolm looks interested in what he’s profiling. Almost as though he hadn’t profiled her at all until he started doing it audibly. 

29:00 - I love JT’s quiet “Bright” here. He’s desperately trying to save Malcolm from himself and Tally looks so sad that she messed up Malcolm’s date. 

30:30 - Malcolm really does have an uncomfortable amount of knowledge about prescription drugs. I don’t think that was part of his FBI training or his college degree. Maybe because he’s been on so many different drugs? 

33:35 - Dang. Malcolm’s eyes look sad in this scene. 

36:20 - Have you noticed how desperate and sad Malcolm looks every time he talks to the case’s killer? He always ends the conversation telling time something along the lines of “you aren’t like this” almost like he’s convincing himself that they aren’t broken. That they aren’t killers. 

38:22 - I love these little pow-wows about Malcolm between Jessica and Gil. You can see how much they both adore Malcolm.

39:00 - Gil is such a sweet guy. Look at the way he comforts Jessica. The look on Jessica’s face when he put her hands on her shoulders. This is clearly the first time Gil has ever initiated physical contact with her. She’s surprised but not unhappy. Look at the way she clings to his hug. I’m telling you - this woman needs some more friends. Also - I’m totally shipping Jessica/Gil. This just fuels my soul.

40:06 - This is why I love Malcolm. Check out how mature he is. Apologizing sincerely to Eve. Also - another reason I had initial doubts about Eve. Why did she come to Malcolm’s place after that disaster of a date? Why did she have sex with him the same night? Why. Why. Why.  

42:22 - Ok. So Tom Payne’s torso is attractive. And that hallucination is terrifying. 

43:00 - Malcolm’s eyes after he wakes up holding the knife. He is ashamed. He is heartbroken. He is sad. He is resigned. He knows he just screwed things up. It confirms his belief that he doesn’t deserve to have a romantic relationship - he’s too dangerous. It breaks my heart. I really hope Malcolm called Gil after Eve left. Gil would be able to help him.

Why I like them: My love!! I went into FDTD already a fan of Madie’s but Kate quickly became one my fave characters!! I love that she’s so small and cute but will absolute wreck you if you mess with her or someone she cares about!! lmfao She’s so fierce when she needs to be and doesn’t take shit from anyone, but she’s also so nurturing and forgiving and I think we all need a little of that in our lives. Absolute sunshine, not to be taken for granted.

Why I don’t: Sometimes she goes a little too far tbh. She doesn’t know when or how to say no. It’s not that I don’t like that about her, but it absolutely gets her into situations that could otherwise be avoided.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Again season 2 episode 1!! I love how she sasses Seth in that episode. lol

Favorite season/movie: Hmm... maybe season 1.

Favorite line: “...So you’re gonna put this car into drive, and you’re gonna step on that pedal, or I’m gonna Bible-thump your ass all the way back to Kansas! NOW!” LMFAOOO

Favorite outfit: I think her black American Eagle jacket and jeans with the black boots outfit has become so attributable to her character in my mind. When I think of Kate she’s wearing either that outfit or the one she wears at the end of s1. I think those are my faves. Also Amaru’s outfit looked totally amazing on Madie!!

Brotp: I’m gonna go with Kate and Rafa. He was too good!! I totally would ship them romantically too ngl. They were precious together!!

Head Canon: Ugh again with the head canons... lmao I kinda always believed she’d wanna study engineering of some kind if given the chance to go to back and finish school. Everyone always wants to make her a nurse or a teacher or something, and I can totally see that. But I like the idea that she’s interested in how things work. I totally wanna write a mechanic Kate au one of these days.

Unpopular opinion: idk that I have any unpopular opinions about her... She made some questionable decisions in season2, but I forgive her for making me suffer.

A wish: That she hadn’t mf DIED!! BECAUSE I SUFFERED OKAY. WORRYING FOR MONTHS THAT IT HAPPENED TO ME YET AGAIN AND THAT MY FAVE WAS DEAD. Also that she had gotten more screentime in season 3. She barely had a few minutes. It wasn’t fair. And I wish that Richie had owned up to his part in her death.

Why I like them: OMFG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! lmao I love that he’s so dedicated to his family. And he LOVES Sheila more than anything, even though she’s become a zombie and her entire personality changes on him and eats people now, but he stays with her and never gives up on her. Even though he’s highkey stressed 100% of the time. :P

Why I don’t: I don’t think there’s anything I don’t like about him tbh??

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Ughhh idk I loved all the episodes tbh. But one of my favorite scenes was in season 3 after he and Eric do the zombie killing training and Eric says “Joel touched me” XD

Favorite season/movie: IDK. Maybe a tie between s1 and s3.

Favorite line: haha idk I can’t remember any in particular except “You’re killing it!” when he finds out Abby soaked his iron skillet in the sink :P

Why I like them: I really loved his relationship with Alphonse!! They meant everything to each other!! I haven’t seen FMA anything in a long time, or I’m sure I would remember more things I liked. :P

Why I don’t: Okay I found the Brotherhood anime Edward pretty goddamn annoying sometimes with all the screaming and cartoony reactions to things...

Favorite season/movie: I definitely preferred the 2003 anime... Brotherhood might be canon but idgaf!! I still haven’t read the manga. :P

Favorite line: “You’ve got a good, strong pair of legs, Rose. You should get up and use ‘em.” haha idk I haven’t seen either anime in so long but that one comes to mind... there’s so many different versions of it. :P

Brotp: Ed and Al forever!! Their relationship is my favorite thing about the series!! omfg I cried when I watched the Shamballa movie when Al says “brother” in his sleep, stuck in the other world. T_T I know it’s not “canon” but the brothers’ relationship is developed soooooo much better in the 2003 series and movie.

Unpopular opinion: NGL I loved the 2003 anime soooo much more than Brotherhood because they didn’t cut every potentially emotional scene off at the knees with some comedic BS to lighten the mood. The 2003 series really gave the story and characters time it needed, and it really allowed us to get to know the brothers and grow an attachment to those characters. That series just had wayyyy better character development imo and I really grew to love Ed and Al so much because of it!! I haven’t actually read the manga still after all this time. lol I’ve been meaning to.

A wish: idk... I haven’t been in that fandom for ages...
