“Did heaven lose an angel? Cause I think I found him.” Kunigami leaned into his hand with a smile, eyes dancing when Chigiri blushed.

“What? Sh-Shut up, that was lame.” The redhead looked away, turning his attention back to untangling his hairdryer.

“I could do better if I had you by my side.” Kunigami winked, chuckling softly as he watched his boyfriend’s face darken. “What do you say? Wanna date?”

“We’re already dating! Ugh, where’d you get those? 101 Lame Pick Up Lines, 1st Edition?” Chigiri turned his entire body to the other, plugging in the now detangled device. “Maybe it’s time to move on to the second one.”

“Aww, so you do like them!” Kunigami cooed, closing the gap and wrapping his arms around his boyfriend from behind, nuzzling his neck. “You must be Wi-fi, cause I’m feeling the connection!”

“Gohohod, that was tehehehrible!” Chigiri scrunched up, giggles bubbling over his lips at the ticklish feeling. “Gehehet off, I got to dry my hahahair!”

“You smiled at me! I think I’m in love!” Kunigami grinned, bringing a hand in to gently squeeze his side, getting a proper bout of laughter from the other. “I hope you know CPR; that look alone took my breath away!”

“Kuhuhuhuhnigahhahami, stahhahahhaap!” Chigiri whined through his laughter, face a pretty shade of pink from the other’s antics. “Yohoohohou’re so annohohohohoying!”

“You know what's annoying? Just how freaking cute you are!” Kunigami buried his face into Chigiri’s neck, growling playfully as his fingers danced against his skin. “I just wanna eat you up, that’s how cute you are!”

“KUuhuhuuuhhnigaahahhamiihi-EHEHEHHHEHE!” Chigiri all but shrieked when the ginger grabbed his thigh, squeezing gently. “STAHAHHAHAP THAHHAHHAHT!”

“Can’t stop! You must be a magnet, cause I’m attracted to you!” Kunigami kissed the other’s cheek in a loud, sloppy gesture, finally retreating his hands. Chigiri elbowed him in the stomach, making a face at the noise. “Hehe, you really are adorable, Princess.”

“Get off me before I burn your nose hairs off.” Chigiri waved the hairdryer at him like a weapon, giggling when Kunigami feigned fear and rolled away. “Ugh, I can’t stand you!”

“Hehe, love you too, babe.” Kunigami smiled, heart racing when Chigiri smiled back.

"There's only ever been you" was in the book! ("I was out of my mind in love" was not, but what a line!) and I definitely squealed when it happened, remembering it lol. here's the scene if you/anyone else is curious:

“He fell asleep first. I’d heard something about how you weren’t supposed to sleep with a fire still burning, so I waited for it to die down. I watched Conrad sleep for a while. He looked like a little boy, the way his hair fell on his forehead and his eyelashes hit his cheek. I didn’t remember him ever looking that young. When I was sure he was asleep, I leaned in, I whispered, “Conrad. There’s only you. For me, there’s only ever been you.”

OH YEAH I WAS SURE THAT ONE WAS IN THE BOOK. Screaming.

I’m not gonna lie, sometimes the direct from the book quotes come across a little noticeable because they don’t always feel 100% natural dialogue wise (not this one but the cold hearted one was a LITTLE stand out as pulled straight from the book because of that even though I still ate it up). I absolutely love that Jenny is getting to do this for her books, though.

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded psychopath happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

#seeing some discourse and im not saying lucy grey didnt know #im saying she never dropped the kind of hints that she knew like she did in the movie #or if she did snow isnt worried about them until he very suddenly is consumed by them #snow is not concerned about whether or not she believed him. of course she did! hes snow! #but then shes gone…. for a while…… #and its the sudden immediate drastic unravelling that comes across so clearly in the book #that i knew wouldn’t translate to screen yet still cant help but miss #the hunger games #coriolanus snow #tbosas #lucy gray baird #not a crime or anything just a note that i cannot stop thinking about #the ballad of songbirds and snakes #this is all from memory of reading it quite a while ago. so maybe 3 pages is an exaggeration #but i remember it happening VERY quickly and without much external cause #like we as the reader have no indication as to whether shes nearby or not. #snow has no idea either. he just SUSPECTS. and his suspicion breeds the hatred that has been bubbling inside him all this time #he hates how she undoes him. he hates that he WOULD run away with her if shed let him keep his secrets #and he HATES more than anything that she makes him WANT to tell his secrets #he wants to be vulnerable and reveal the ugly nasty parts about himself and still be loved #but he does not let himself and it is everyone’s downfall #he chooses cruelty bc it is easy and familiar and makes him feel more powerful than the vulnerable give and take that real love requires
