prompt for hip pain in a whumpee?
whumpee is an athlete or a dancer, or someone whose career depends on them being able to move and use their hip, so they decide to keep their pain a secret and strain themself by going on stage anyway for fear of “holding their team back”. half performance in and they’re lying on the floor with everyone around them all freaking out because ‘omg whumpee just collapsed’ and no one knows what’s going on.
since walking can help stiffness for hip pain, caretaker lets whumpee hold their hands as they slow walk together, and helps steady whumpee anytime whumpee’s about to lose their balance.
caretaker spoils whumpee with warm baths to help relax the muscle and relieve the pain.
whumpee moans in their sleep when sleeping on their hip worsens the pain, so caretaker gently wakes them up and helps hold an ice pack on whumpee’s hip to help with the swelling and the pain, before easing whumpee back asleep.

I’m desperate. I want to play the sims so bad, but I’m physically disabled and have to be in bed most of the time. I’ve got my pc hooked up to my tv, and I even have a couch master. It still requires me to sit-up. So I have this wireless keyboard. Was thinking I could buy a wireless mouse and figure out some way to use the mouse in bed. Maybe even get those small little keyboards and just assign keys to be different hotkeys. Does any know a mousepad that would work? I was even considering using a small childrens hard cover book under one.
I’ve tried Reddit with minimal results. My orthopedic pillows help me a lot but even that’s not sitting up high enough for the couch master desk. Lap desks don’t work for me because putting weight on my leg causes pain :(
If anyone just has a similar setup I’d love to hear about it.

hi i was wondering if you or any of your followers had tips for dealing with chronic muscle pain (specifically hip and knee).
nothing i’ve tried has seemed to help (pt, otc pain meds, ice, heat, rest, acupuncture, cbd lotion, epson salt baths, stretching). and i’ve peen told that the only pain meds that would help would be narcotics (which i can’t take due to family).
also everybody has seemed to circle back to “it’s because of your mental health that everything is shit”. and doctors refuse to do any tests past moving my legs around and poking at them.
so i will try almost anything. thank you
i’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, i have chronic muscle pain & i know it can easily be so debilitating. regardless of whether there’s a relationship with stress or whatever, your physical symptoms should still be fucking treated! the abject cruelty of not managing your pain aside, it’s almost like it’s harder to handle mental experiences when you’re in pain all the time… you don’t deserve this bullshit & i’m really sorry 🖤
i am suspicious of your being told that only narcotics would help tbh — i don’t doubt that many folks need narcotics to effectively treat their pain, & opioids have definitely been the most effective treatment for me when i have access to them (although more for nerve stuff than muscle) but there are definitely medications you haven’t been offered yet that might be helpful.
idk if you suspect that your muscle pain may be related to chronic illness but my muscle pain (including what was dismissed as untreatable fibromyalgia symptoms) improved dramatically when i got on an immunosuppressant (hydroxychloroquine in my case). if you haven’t gotten a basic rheumatology blood panel done by your GP it could be worth a shot as my elevated inflammatory markers led to that prescription even though i’m definitely underdiagnosed.
i’m also like, really pissed nobody’s given you a muscle relaxer jesus christ. i’m on 4mg tizanidine from my PCP & it’s been immensely helpful for my muscle pain, i choose to take it probably once a week because it’s more effective at knocking me out all night that way lol but i also use it as a rescue medication when i’m having severe cramps. really helpful to just get a fucking break & some decent sleep every so often. in that thread i’m planning to ask about starting prazosin at my next appointment, it’s prescribed for nightmares (which i def have lol) but can prompt a certain level of muscle relaxation which is part of how it helps with sleep
idk if this is an option for you due to family etc but delta8 (weed equivalent that’s technically legal in the US) has been vital for managing my own pain. expensive as shit but so it goes.
idk if you already use a mobility aid or if that’s an option for you but it could be worth looking into! redirecting some of the force applied to your muscles might make things like walking easier or could help with balance if you experience sudden weakness / cramps.
super depends on your situation but it could be worth paying attention to your feet as well, getting plantar fasciitis house shoes vastly improved my knee-hip-back pain, knees in particular. mine was more joint related than muscular but from studying biomechanics it’s all interrelated & from my perspective anything that helps may make it a bit easier to keep going until you find a better long-term solution. so even if it doesn’t seem related to your pain if there’s anything that might make your life easier right now i encourage you to consider it!
other folks feel free to respond with things that have been effective for you! i really hope you find some solutions that make things more bearable for you 💓💓

Happy EDS and HSD awareness month! This month, I’ll be celebrating by getting about a million more symptoms and having a flare up on day one!
As a matter of fact, I wasn’t aware enough so my body decided to bring back symptoms that my doctors and physical therapist already helped out with!

Anyone here deal with snapping hip syndrome/dancers hip?
Yesterday my hip popped which isnt uncommon because i snap crackle pop like rice crispies cereal in general but when my hip popped yesterday i froze because it HURT like really bad but i just literally walked it off. I get sciatic nerve pain that can make my hip and legs hurt but this felt different (also i cant just walk off sciatic nerve pain lmao). Today i was taking care of Cream and her brood and heard it pop again but this time i couldnt walk i had to stumble back to my room to get my cane. From what im reading if it continues to hurt i can go get a steroid injection but like my sciatic i rather manage it with stretches and exercise so if you also get this issue what helps it go away?

hate the chronic pain. Every step I take makes my hips crack and pop like a fucking glow stick add that to my back hurting for absolutly no reason and making my eyes go all blurry and water and the fact that I still need to do school today and no position that i sit in or anything is comfortable and i need the heatpack on like, 3 places at once... ugh, I’m just a mess. a hot one despite everything but still a mess.

hello! i hope this ask finds you well <3
i’m just looking for a bit of advice and i saw one of your posts about being disabled so i figured i might ask;
(to preface: i am not disabled) but sometimes my right hip does a weird thing and hurts for a bit on and off and i can’t really walk (my hips have always been weird - they pop really easily and hurt if i lay down on them for too long) and i was curious if you might have advice on how to deal with that? (though granted i don’t actually know what kind of physical disability you have so this might just be headed out into the aether)
(sorry if this is the wrong blog to ask!)
hello! sorry for getting back so late; i had school! and yes, you came to the right place! want to preface this with a disclaimer by saying i'm not a professional, and i recommend you talk with a doctor if possible. i also recommend doing your own research as i don't know you like you know you!
that aside, i have pots and hsd, both which cause me chronic pain. hsd, or hypermobikity spectrum disorder, causes me chronic joint pain. and good for you, my most common place of pain is in my hips, so i have a lot of experience with what your describing.
my biggest recommendation, other than talking with a doctor, is for you to try and stay off of it when it hurts. you can also apply heat or cold (with an ice pack, heating pad, etc.) to the area that hurts. that usually makes me feel better. i also recommend taking otc (over-the-counter) pain meds. take the dose it tells you to take, and that will usually help soothe the pain!
i also recommend that you keep your mind open to the idea that you could be disabled. if this pain is pretty common for you (as in it happens a couple times a week) and has lasted for at least 3 months with common occurrences, then it's considered chronic pain. if you have chronic pain, you are disabled. ofc i don't know you and can't say for certain! but keeping your mind open to the idea can help you more easily make that transition in the future if you are diagnosed with a disability or your symptoms become disabilitating.
i also recommend getting a cane if possible! canes help a lot with getting weight off of the leg that's hurting, thus allowing the pain to decrease. do not worry about "faking" being disabled. if you need a cane to lessen the pain you feel whilst walking or to support your walking, then use it! you would use your left (opposite of hurt leg) hand for the cane. you don't have to get one, of course, but they are a pretty cheap investment if you get them at a pharmacy or online, and they are extremely helpful.
but again, i can't recommend it anymore for you to see a medical professional. what you are describing sounds similar to my experiences with chronic pain, plus having pain flareups for seemingly no reason pretty consistently along with your hip feeling out of place or popping out of place, sounds like something to bring up to your doctor. based on the limited symptoms you gave, i recommend looking into heds, hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndromes (plus the other versions of eds), or hsd (which is what i have. both are hypermobility from a connective tissue disorder that causes a slew of symptoms, but a major one is joint instability and chronic pain. hsd is sort of a different part of the spectrum of eds, or just a different but similar disorder (scientists really don't know)).
some good medical websites that i use a lot for info on my own health as well as my medical science interst are the cleveland clinic, the nhs website, and mayo clinic. these have digestible pages of information about many different disorders and problems.
i also recommend keeping a list of your symptoms that don't seem entirely normal or healthy. also, keeping a journal of your pain flares and describing when and why it happens can help you track it and see if it worsens or gets better. i also recommend using these to look into possible disorders that you may have. advice given for any type of similar disorders with symptoms similar to yours (or that you might have) can greatly benefit you if you want more advice!
if you have any more questions you can dm me, use my ask box again, or ask someone else for another point of view! talking about it with many different people can give you many different and helpful perspectives that can help you figure out what's going on. i wish you all the best!

Turns out that I subluxated my left hip last night and that was why I couldn't walk until the weed kicked in.
Roommate, who has EDS, showed me how to pop my hip back in. The difference freaked me out. The release of spastic muscles and tendons was like a cool breeze in a desert. I never get used to no pain.
My hip is very sore with lingering electric pains and deep bruising in my lower back and psoas. Moving still hurts. It's possible that the joint is still not right.
I would like advice and tricks for if it happens again. That ranked as one of the most epic pain episodes in many years.

folks who have hip pain or other hip issues
is there anyway to sleep comfortably or with low to no pain?
because i’ve tried a pillow directly under my hips as well as under my lower back (while sleeping on my back). and sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees (this one just makes the hip i’m lying on hurt)
none of those have really worked (although some better than others)
