I once again come to thee to bother about Snek Boi If your character isn’t designed for shipping/isn’t interested in shipping, how hard does fandom have to mangle them to make them shipping material/open to a relationship? and What kind of Headcanons/Theories might the fandom make about Ksho?

So first off, (minus Abrik) idm the idea of shipping my ocs with the characters. Kshoshurankha’s earliest design in ‘22 or ‘23 was supposed to be in a relationship with Jade! (Cause, you know, the outdoors). The issues with Ksho dating any other character is that after their third year, there wouldn’t be much contact between them, in all honesty. He can’t exactly leave the jungle, nor does he want to. So, the story would have to be adapted in order for the relationship to progress outside of a short college relationship. Any cute post-canon ideas would prob have to be wildly ooc for one of the two. Maybe he could compromise and move to the edge of the jungle? The other issue is that Kshoshurankha canonically wants kids one day. So they’d have to be down to adopt o7

I’ll preface by saying I’m guilty of having two Ksho designs. One to fit the canon twst style and then a bunch of ideas that fit in with my other twst redesigns :D I think people would headcanon him as slightly more affectionate than canon. To compare the fanon and canon situations, imagine fanon Ksho is the type to initiate a fun little cuddle puddle. Canon Ksho is more indifferent to someone sitting with him until they try to get up. Then he’s comfy and doesn’t let you go. I think some hcs would ignore some of the ‘creepy/gross’ aspects of being part snake, when that’s an actually important part of his character. (He also finds bipedal bodies just as creepy or gross :/). For theories, I think it’d centre around how serious he is with his jokes (he’s not), and about the other citizens of his home country, particularly his mum. Maybe if he were canon, there would be people who would headcanon cool snake biology/behaviour onto him (just like me fr!!)

It will never be as good as the other arcs no matter how cool the winter aesthetic is and no matter how cute and fun the new characters are. The plot itself was ehhh and the pandemic and OT3 date was probably the most interesting thing that had happened there. It will never be Tanbarun or Bergatt arc and that's on that 💅

AND ANOTHER THING! omg I just remembered. Shirayuki leaving her patient in the Perfume arc just like that (girlie was traumatized and recovering still) and going with Obi and Eisetsu to rescue Ryuu and Kageya was quite pointless imo (and bit ooc for Shirayuki? Is it just me??) Like I understand it was about Ryuu so ofc she came but I don't think she played that crucial part in the rescuing (she noticed the secret msg from Ryuu and knew about the herbs effects so she was a good addition but I just can't get over 'leaving your sick and very traumatized patient moments after the accident' move) 🤷🏻‍♀️

16. Something that you had wished had happened

I wish we got to explore more of the characters pasts and backstories. AND BRING TOROU AND MIHAYA BACK! Torou could have been a great fuel for Obi and his character development....a missed opportunity man 😭 I think sensei makes the mistake of making interesting and appealing side characters just to forget about them later a lot (?), even when they are relevant to the plot or not. It's a shame, really. But I can't blame her I suppose.

Like you also mentioned before: wishing the separation arcs weren't as long. AMEN! OT5 should get more time to spend all together. That much of a separation was just ...??? uknow

Fanfic No. 33: a game and a Quest

Type of fic: Canon divergent, 2.7k words and 4 chapters, incomplete, took 10 months to write, rated K+

“When Annabeth figures out that Thalia likes Percy, she promises not to tell him only if Thalia can convince Chiron that she needs a quest. The catch is, percy might find out anyways.”

November 3, 2007

Characters: Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson, and Thalia Grace

Length and format: Chapters are very short and could be combined and added to, the way it now makes it feel very slow paced and like there is little overarching plot tying it all together as it presents a scene’s worth of content and not a chapter’s worth of content. Sentences also feel clunky and there are multiple grammatical issues. The last chapter also switches POV without notice.

Content: There is very little plot because, once again, such little plot is spread over multiple chapters we never even reach the plot point of Thalia mentioned in the summary.

Characterization: Characters feel very OOC. First off, the summary leads us to believe this would be a Thalia-centric fic yet she is barely present. Percy has much more attitude than he does in canon and attacks Mr. D with his powers, something he would never do in canon. Annabeth is also OOC and feels more antagonistic toward Percy. This leads to their dynamic feeling much less friendly than it does in canon and is much more overrun by the quarrelsome aspect.

Reception: There are 15 reviews that are all positive as well as 9 favorites and 14 follows.

Author: Author shaqb4 has little available on their account other than updates on current stories and communities, account was last updated in 2020 so we can assume that the account has likely been purged. In ANs they ask for honest reviews. Account has been inactive since 2020 so we can only wish them the best.

Impact: I think this fic definitely had something to offer but it just took a while to progress.

- Normally, he doesn’t really like going grocery shopping because he just finds it a little boring (especially if sometime tries to drag him along). Then again, if you’re going with him, then maybeee he’ll agree to come.

- First things first, Phinks could honestly care less about how much an item costs or not. He’s just going to steal it, isn’t it obvious? If you guys want something, then just throw it in the cart or shove it in your coat pocket!! Phinks doesn’t even care if people are around (”The hell are you lookin’ at?” he’ll say as if they’re doing something wrong 💀).

- Listen, he’s like a whole kid here. Phinks just finds grocery shopping to be so mundane. While you’re browsing the aisles, trying to find whatever food for home that you need, hes resting his arms on the cart bored out of his mind as he waits for you to get things over with.

- But he’s going to try and make this small trip just a littleeee more fun. So Phinks will just grab another cart (probably someone else’s), and dares you to race with him.

“Whoever makes it to the end of the aisle wins,” he dares.

“Oh, really? Well you’re on.”

“Winner gets a kiss,” Phinks says before rushing down the aisle to get a head start.

- He’s already super competitive enough, so you already know he’s going to absolutely RUSHHH down to the end. He has this big smirk on his face when running, not even caring if anyone see’s what you guys are doing or not. There’s absolutely no way in hell you’re going to catch up with him. With that being said, looks like you’re the loser here and you know what that meansss ;)

- If you’re ever by the frozen foods section, he’ll nonchalantly ask if you want his jacket in case you get cold. Phinks honestly knows that the coldness isn’t that bad, but in reality, he just wants to see you in his clothes.

- Also, one of his favorite snacks to buy? Definitely chips. So expect Phinks to go STRAIGHT to the chips aisle. Even though it’s just you and him, he takes like two family-sized bags and throws it in the cart.

- As you guys are trying to pay, well.. Phinks doesn’t and it definitely causes a whole scene. But once again, this man could care less, so he just runs out with you with whole cart in hand. To him, it’s all apart of the thrill and the fun.

- Once you guys are away from everyone, this man just pretends like NOTHING happened. He sits down on a curb and ask’s if you want to eat anything from the stuff you bought, nonchalantly with a blank expression. The first thing he’d probably do is go for the bag of chips first, and then of course offer you some. Moral of the story: it was fun overall, but it probably isn’t the best idea to do this again...

ReWriting LO: Hades/Minthe Relationship and Break Up

TDLR: The Slap that lead to Hades/Minthe’s Break Up is just there to further paint Minthe in a Negative Light. Minthe before this was able to be somewhat Sympathetic but with the Slap it’s a very clear Moment to cut off any Sympathy for her. You can have the same steps with doing that by properly setting up issues like Persephone in their Relationship. Minthe has been established as Toxic and a little Verbally Abusive but never Physically Abusive, so the Slap is OOC and UnNeeded.

Moving from Minthe to Hades. Hades has always been shown in a slight Victim Light but in Previous Episodes 1 and 33, he has no problem arguing with her. He is Angry, Brash and Argumentative only in Sexual Situations, Episode 8 that he gets Submissive. So, for him to be so scared of her is somewhat unusual. Hades also had Feelings for Persephone throughout the whole Relationship and it’s never Framed as a Bad Thing.

This Break Up should have been about a Mutual Toxic Relationship but turns into an Abuser (Minthe) and Victim (Hades) Relationship instead.

Ok, so here is my First ReWrite, Minthe/Hades Break Up Rewrite:

First let me lay out my Problems with the Break Up and By Extension their Relationship.

1. The Slap Minthe gave Hades.

Not for the Slap itself but because the Framing is obviously showing Minthe is a Bad Person. Which I don’t feel was needed. In LO, Minthe was already shown as Toxic there was no need to make her Physically Abusive. It is honestly OOC for Minthe.

2. Personally, I feel Hades was left off the Hook way too easily.

The fact that he have Feelings for Persephone back in Episode 47, where they first enter the Relationship mind you, isn’t brought up. Only the fact that Hades was Feelings. I would have like if Hades agreeing to the Relationship with Minthe while not Loving her was a Bad Move and don’t like that it wasn’t Addressed.

3. That Drinking Incident with Thetis is really UnNecessary.

Kinda tying in with “1.” but, yeah, the Incident to Spur this ReWrite wasn’t the Slap but Thetis. Thetis is a Toxic Friend but even I feel that this Drinking Incident is,,, a little OOC? I don’t know, doesn’t really feel right for her.

So, with my Problems laid out time to ReWrite.

Episodes being ReWrote: Episodes 71 (The would be Dinner of Hades/Minthe), 73 (The Drinking Incident), 76 (The Slap), and some Light ReTouches to Episodes 104, and 105 (Hades/Minthe Break Up).

First, just to be clear, everything in the Series Before and After is the same. Only the Previously Stated Episodes changed. Episode 71 (Where Hades was stood up by Minthe because of Thetis) and 73 (The one where Thetis keeps ordering Alcoholic Drinks for Minthe causing her to miss her Dinner with Hades)

Episode 71, Hades/Mine Dinner

The Night is going well, Hades is cooking while Minthe helps out by setting the table. They are making conversation, taking about work, themselves, and the Future. Then Dinner starts and things change. Minthe brings up Persephone much to Hades surprise. She brings up How much time they were spending together and How it us causing her trouble at work in reference to Episode 59 (Minthe had to keep rescheduling a Meeting because Hades and Persephone were busy hanging out after the Tour) Hades brushes it off saying how the two are just Friends. Minthe continues to push the Persephone topic bringing up the InternShip start date. Hades says it was direct orders from Hera. They go back and forth. Minthe gets upset and says she is gonna go stay with Thetis for the Night. Hades tries to convince her otherwise but Minthe still leaves.

Episode 73, Thetis and Minthe’s Night Out

The plan stays to what it was originally. Minthe and Thetis get After Work Drinks and Minthe leaves with Hades picking her up. While at the Bar, they do indeed catch up and Thetis is still a Toxic Friend, like in the Original Episode she still brings up all the Persephone points. How none of TGOEM Members actually follow the Chastity Vow (expect for Artemis). How the Olympus/UnderWorld InternShip doesn't start for a few Months. And How much time Hades/Persephone spend together. Minthe pretends to shrug it all off but now has Seeds of Doubt in her mind. Just as Hades comes and keeps her up for their Dinner.

(Episode 74's beginning could be the same but because the Dinner happened it's just that Minthe really really over slept. I don't know Thetis turned her phone alarm off? Not really important.)

Episode 76, Hades/Minthe Confrontation

Minthe is still in a Bad Mood, from her date and now, going into work late. Everything mostly the same with Minthe’s Surface and SubConscious Thoughts just adjusted to fit the New ReWrited Episode 71 and 73. Instead of the Thoughts Focusing on her missing Dinner they are more Focused on how she should have just kept her mouth shut about Persephone. So, when the confrontation happens at the Fates Building in the Hallway Minthe DOESN'T slap Hades. She and Hades have a conversation which devolves into another argument about Persephone. Minthe Verbally Berates Hades and still compares him to Kronos and Hecate stops her.

Episodes 104, and 105, Hades/Minthe Break Up

Mostly the same, but Hades is given just as much Fault as Minthe was. All the stuff on Minthe stay the same, just change the Slapping References to her Verbal Berating. Now Hades, he get a bit more work.When Hades states “As much as you can love someone you’ve known for two weeks...” Minthe calls him out. She asks, Why. If he was in love with Persephone, Why did you get into a Relationship with her? This is all to Balance out the Toxicity of their Relationship. Putting Equal blame on both Parties. Hades, will say to not bring Persephone into the Conversation and then you can play the Rest of the Episode the same.

And that, is my first ReWrite.

5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?

I am that asshole who will quit out of a fic if the grammar is bad. I just can’t do it. This has kept me from reading some honestly-probably-pretty-good fic but I am just. Kind of a dick about this one specific thing.

Beyond that... I mean, sometimes OOC stuff will get to me but honestly, I’ll read OOC fic as long as it is either a) deeply indulgently satisfying, b) the plot is interesting enough that I can muddle through, or c) the author convinces me No Really This Is How The Characters Would Behave In This Circumstance (those are my favorites)

10. What’s your favorite fandom, pairing, or character to read fic for?

currently the untamed!

13. Do you outline your fics? How much of a headache would someone get if they just looked at an outline of yours without reading the fic?

rarely. VERY rarely. I outlined bandcamp, because it was unwieldy and I was having some trouble figuring out where and how the fic was going to land (and also I was having Too Many Ideas and needed to get it down on paper, but even then I ended up throwing most of the back third of it out and also the whole middle flashback bit). beyond that, I think the last time I properly outlined something was The Amazing Adventures Of Bucky Barnes which I wrote in..... 2014 holy shit. And THAT I only outlined because it was a prompt fill iirc

BUT, in the instances where I do outline, it tends to just be a list of bullet points with the major events that take place and also maybe some Feelings so honestly I think it would be fine.

31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

I loved writing keyleth and I miss her. my [redacted] fic is lwj pov and he is an absolute treat. idk if this counts but writing any combination or permutation of jiang cheng and wwx and jiang yanli is the most deeply satisfying and best experience I have had and I love them

33. What do you like writing better: one shots or multi-chapter stuff?

oneshots! but like, long oneshots? I used to be able to write short fic but more and more often I can’t shut the fuck up. but also, look. breaking stuff up into chapters is a pain and I tend to write everything at once and break it up afterwards and it just messes with the flow. (sectioning opening doors into chapters was a fucking NIGHTMARE)

that and I HATE the period of time between posting chapters; as a reader it makes me less likely to keep up with things in a timely manner (which is why I don’t often read wips) as and a writer it makes me anxious cause I get all these comments about what people THINK is gonna happen and it stresses me out lol. literally the only reason I didn’t just post all of bandcamp at once is because I felt? like I shouldn’t?? but yeah. so, oneshots, but unwieldy and long ones

1. i’m slow as hell but i love any and all new interactions with zoro. any asks, just random @ ‘s or dms to plot, in discussion about rping and then seeing starters, god PROMPTS, it all makes me excited to write and can kick my ass into gear sometimes. this can sometimes end up to me having too many threads/asks though, which is the unfortunate downside because i am so slow.

2. i can get pretty uptight with how my replies look. sometimes i’m looking at a post i’m about to publish (any posts like ooc or even a short 3 word post) for like 5 minutes straight trying to see if there’s a better way to word things which is probably why i’m really slow. it applies to my threads as well and if i can’t think of something, i’ll start to burn out and have to take a step away from my threads.

3. my muse can be finicky sometimes. it’s zoro and he’s such a straightforward, upfront, direct kind of guy who’s just so simple, not much of a wordy individual and got the confidence of a god and then can also be really serious and then sometimes comedic ( unintentionally though! ) so it makes me want to just dig into his words and his actions so much that if i’m not feeling it, it can be difficult to get words out. i can only really tell when i’m feeling it or not when i start to write too and staring at a response for minutes !!! i’m really slow, everyone.
