i didn't realize until recently how little fantasy stuff is in my world. sure they're all animals or dragons and they've got magic but there's no actual gods and i didn't even think about including magical artifacts or beings made of magic until a month or so ago. everything could've been so much cooler this whole time lol
#ghost post#well i can fix it now#i only have one idea for a magic being so far and its that one of the gods (not technically gods but thats how people see them) had so much#magic that part of it flaked off and gained sentience#the god's name is october and they founded a prosperous city but they eventually turned into a tyrant#and the people of the city fought them to gain control and won#and october was driven away and left severely weakened#but during the conflict that's when part of their magic broke off and became its own person#it took the same form as october (just smaller) and terrorized the city for a while but then it discovered Free Will(tm)#and now its much happier doing whatever it wants instead of what october wanted#and since its made from shapeshifting magic and its original form was mimicing october after it denounced them it has no set form and just#is whatever it wants to be in the moment#it doesn't even have a name and i'm attached lol#anyway my ideas for magical artifacts are much more boring lol#the dragon who rules over elemental magic made a set of staffs that let anyone use magic (one for each element)#that was a long time ago and none of the dragons are very involved with mortals anymore#but the staffs are still very powerful and floating around the world possibly getting into the wrong hands#:) i'm sure none of the main characters will ever have to deal with that :))))#another one is a set of two books and when you write in one the text appears in the other (like sunset shimmer's book in mlp)#and my last idea is a mask that can absorb people's appearances then if you put it on you look exactly like them down to every detail#truly an imposter amogus moment#anyway if anyone has reached the bottom of these tags tysm for reading and please let me know if you have ideas for more anything

I've talked about it a lot over the last 6 months, but with the year ending, I want to express my feelings once again, with more clarity.
There may never be a character who means as much to me as Suletta Mercury does. There may never be a fictional couple that means as much to me as Suletta & Miorine do. Not just because I love them so much, but also because of what their representation meant to me.
Tumblr media
I've been a Gundam fan for over 20 years. I'd basically given up on a female main character in a main series before G-Witch. Suletta Mercury gave me representation I desperately wanted from a franchise I'd loved for decades. Representation that I'd lost hope of ever seeing.
Tumblr media
And then they gave me even more representation by making her a queer woman. You could not have convinced me before G-Witch aired that Suletta would fall in love with another woman. That Gundam would take that step with it's first female main character, especially with a target demographic of mostly teen boys. But it did. Suletta Mercury fell in love with a woman, and not just that, she fought and earned a happy ending married to that woman. A woman who is just as equally amazing as she is.
(And while it's not representation for me personally, I think Suletta providing representation for women of color and disabled fans is also a big deal.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sure as I grow up, queer and sapphic media will continue to push boundaries, and we'll get more queer female leads in mainstream media. But I can't think of any other franchise I love where making the main character a sapphic woman would mean close to what it meant to me when Gundam did it.
Certainly there's "better" anime out there, even Gundam anime. But none of them mean to me what The Witch From Mercury meant to me. None of them come close to the love I have for this show and these two women.

Part 2 for "Love Thorns All Over This Rose"
I decided to make this be longer than just two part, so this'll be a sort of mini-series
I just want to leave another TW here: if you have ever suffered through a miscarriage or any type of child loss, please proceed with caution. I do heavily talk about how Y/N feels after suffering through that and do talk about her feeling like a failure of a woman and other things. I just want everyone to know that if you feel triggered by that, I apologize and I don't want anyone to be upset over what I wrote
I also want to say that I personally have never gone through. What I write in this, is purely based off of what I have read in other fics or stories as well as seen people talk online. I am trying not to offend anyone and if I do in any of the part that I talk about those things; I severely apologize.
Reminder that Alfred is dead in this so that's why he isn't here!
The POV here still isn't really consistent. It jumps between being with the Batkids, Bruce, and Y/N's. I tried to make it flow though so hopefully that works!
Reminder that Bruce and Y/N's ages don't matter (I'm not in the mood to deal with that) but; Dick is 31 (and married to Kori but that's not too important), Jason is 25, Tim is 22, Damian is 15, Cass is 24, and Steph is 23
Also a reminder that I also am not too familiar with Duke, so that is why he isn't there much. Mostly just mentioned
Anywho, enjoy
Love Z <3
All that he knew was that he walked in on his dad doing CPR on his mom.
That was all he knew.
That was all Dick knew.
Y/N tightened her grip around her purse, the people were following her too closely. She knew this. The light was still out, she kept reminding her that. Kept telling herself that no one would try to kidnap her in broad daylight.
But oh how wrong she was.
She should have known better. She grew up in Gotham. She should have known better.
----
Now
Three days had passed since everything happened. Bruce had refused to leave the hospital. He wondered if it was from guilt of not being there for her other times. Or if he was just filling in his obligation as a husband. Or maybe...maybe Dick was right and he was just doing all he could to preserve his image.
But none of that mattered. Bruce was staying until she woke up. Because she had to wake up. He had to show her that he still cared. That he still loved her. That he knows...he knows how much of a horrible person he has been to her for the past month.
He had to make sure she knew that he regretted it. Every word he said to her that night.
But every sign scared him. They had already had to resuscitate her since getting here. The tube was stuck down her throat, helping her to breathe. Nurses looking at him with pity, making him feel foolish for holding out hope that she would be okay. With every look that they gave him, there was a sort of emptiness and despair settling into his stomach.
Almost as if he agreed with them.
But he couldn't. He couldn't be agreeing with them. It wouldn't be useless holding out hope that she would be okay.
He ran his thumb over her palm, his eyes glancing up her arm and body until they landed on the raised skin on her collarbone. His hand that wasn't holding hers, come up to run over it. One of the many reminders of what happened 3 months ago.
----
Y/N woke up groggily. Her head was pounding and she felt like she had been dropped from a tall building. She blinked, trying to see something, anything, but as her eyes opened, she wished she could go back to seeing nothing.
She was sure that she was in the sewers. The damp and musky smell with the sound of water dripping down the old stone walls and floors around her made her all too aware of where she was. She tried swallowed any saliva, but her mouth was dry. Tears pricked her eyes from pain as she carefully pushed herself up.
Her heart was pounding in her chest as she gingerly touched her stomach. Involuntarily, her own body flinched back from her touch. She felt her air catch in her throat as she felt nothing moving. In the past month or so, her baby had been moving all the time, leading her on to many sleepless nights.
Deep down, she knew. She knew that her baby was dead. And she knew that there was nothing to be done about it.
She jumped back as she heard the sound of shoes pounding against the damp stones. She tried to move away from the only place that someone could come from, but with her hands and legs being tied together, it was harder than expected. She slipped slightly, her side hitting the stone hard.
Three men, with honestly average builds, stalked into the area. She breathed raggedly as she watched them continue towards her. She tried to push away as one grabbed her arm and forcibly pulled her up, a yelp of surprise and pain left her mouth as she was pulled to her feet.
These three men were normal. They weren't some goons or some chemically induced maniacs. They were normal.
And maybe that scared her more.
One of the men, who she assumed was the leader, walked up to her, knife raised. Her eyes darted between him, his associates, and the knife. Any self-defense training that Bruce had taught her, flew out the window as she stood before these men.
"When the situation arises, you'll remember what to do."
That was what Bruce had always told her. But here she was. In the situation and nothing was showing up in her mind as what she was supposed to do.
She leaned back as the guy leaned in but the one with the grip on her arm moved one of his hands to hold her head and make her look at him. She shook as she felt the knife against her collarbone.
A small whimper of pain left her mouth as she felt the knife push deeper, deep enough that it would scar over, before she was pushed back to the ground. The one with the knife gave her a sadistic smile before hoarsely whispering, "We're going to make sure Bruce Wayne finds you dead."
She stared in near terror as she held her hand over where they had sliced and watched as they left just as quickly as they had came.
----
Now
Jason stood in a corner away from Y/N's body. Even with the tube gone, she still didn't wake up. Although she had made some developments...some in the past 8 days that she had been in here and everyone had convinced Bruce to go home and get some proper sleep. So now here Jason was, standing in a room where the woman he had allowed to become his mom was laying still.
But he stayed away from her body.
Something he didn't say often was just how scared he can get. He remembers each time he's been absolutely terrified. When Bruce, well Batman, caught him stealing the wheels to the Batmobile. When he was stuck in that warehouse and Bruce didn't make it in time. When he saw Y/N again for the first time since his "death" and he thought that she would hate him for what he had done. When she was taken. Those words he heard Bruce hurling at Y/N.
And right now.
Jason was keeping his composure, but inside, he was a trembling and terrified child. A kid who just needed to know his mom was going to be alright.
Inside, he knew exactly how Damian was feeling.
But as he stared at her body, his mind couldn't stop drifting, remembering what he had heard that night 4 weeks ago. All he could do was wonder what would have happened if maybe, just maybe, he had gotten angry at Bruce for what he heard.
----
It was nearly 2 AM when Jason was going to sneak out of the Manor. Technically, it was easy to do, well...it was once he got passed Bruce and Y/N's room. So, he was as silent as he could be as he passed by. But he stopped in his tracks as he heard the voices from behind the cracked door.
Now, Jason wouldn't say he was noisy. But don't all kids stop and listen whenever they hear their parents arguing?
But they weren't arguing. No. He had heard that before. This wasn't it. This was different.
And it scared him.
He stood by the door as Bruce's voice got louder: "--Well I'm sorry that I'm not here anymore Y/N! But can you fucking blame me?"
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Her voice was low, warning him to think before he spoke.
"You didn't pay attention and got taken. You and your inability to pay attention to your surroundings got our baby killed."
She sucked in a breath, "You think I don't blame myself already, Bruce? Do you think that I don't wonder what would have happened if I just hadn't gone out that day?"
"Please, this doesn't affect you. You're perfectly fucking fine."
"Because I have to be!" She nearly screamed, "One of us has to be a parent to everyone else in this home and we both know it won't be you!"
"They aren't even your kids, Y/N, why do you--"
A loud slap echoed and Jason's hand went over his mouth as he continued to listen.
"Those kids are mine. I am the one who helped raise them. I am the one who has made sacrifices for them! You haven't done shit for them, ever." She let out a choked back laugh, "All I did was ask for you to be here with me, to understand what I am feeling and going through. But of course, you don't understand anything."
"I understand that you killed our baby."
"No Bruce. Those men came after me to hurt you. You are the reason I was taken and lost our baby. But sure," Her voice started to break, "Go on. Blame me. I'm used to you doing that anyways.
----
Now
Jason breathed shakily as he grabbed his helmet and stormed out of the room. He knew Dick would be there soon with Damian anyways and he had to get out of there.
--------
Dick watched as Damian laid curled into Y/N's side. Bruce was, miraculously, still sleeping as he and Damian snuck out to the hospital. He didn't do it much for himself as he did it for Damian, he knew that the kid had a sort of...guilt that he could have done something.
Not that Dick could say anything against that. He felt guilty as well.
Y/N was his mom. He was the oldest son. He should have protected her, that was his job. Dick was the protector. He was always supposed to protect everyone. Y/N and even Bruce included. He already had been in this situation before. The immense guilt of failing to protect Y/N.
He remembers what he thought that first time he was here. Remembers the guilt of already failing to keep Alfred alive and not wanting to fail Y/N.
----
Dick ran through the sewers, trying to find Y/N. Two days had passed since she had gone missing. All of them had lost sleep trying to find her and now they were searching the sewers for where she could be. He felt like a failure, a bad kid, all because he didn't
He stopped in his tracks as he heard her labored breathing. He turned in the direction that he heard the breathing, his own getting caught in his throat when he saw her laying in the fetal position.
"Mom." He breathed out, rushing to kneel by her side. He gently grabbed her face and looked at her, tears pooling in his eyes. "Mom, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
He failed. Guilt filling with him. Guilt of failing Alfred and now her.
He was a failure and he knew that.
"You-you're not a--"
----
Now
"--A failure."
He stopped and looked at Y/N, his eyes wide. "Mom?"
Her head was turned to the side, a small look of gentle concern on her face. "You're not a failure Dick." She whispered through a hoarse voice, "You didn't fail anyone. Especially not me."
But he shook his head. He did. Not once. But twice. First being after she was taken and now this.
"Dick, stop that. The only person here that failed was me."
He got up and angrily wiped the tears from his eyes, "But I-I just...you never--"
Her hand shakily came up to touch his face, "I'm the one who failed sugar. I should've..."
She stopped, hand leaving his to rub her neck. Out of instinct of all the times waking up from injuries, he grabbed her the bottle of water he had grabbed earlier. Unscrewing the lid, he gently brought it to her lips and she quickly took a gulp of it.
After a moment, she gently held his wrist. "Dick, look at me and believe me when I tell you that it's not your fault. You did nothing wrong." Her grip tighten on his wrist for a moment, "You or your siblings." She glanced over at Damian, her arm wrapped around the kid who was now sleeping. "You all had nothing that you could do." She looked back at him, "Everything that happened, that I did, was nothing to do with you kids. It um...it--"
"Has to do with dad?"
She nodded silently before breathing shakily, "I know Jason heard what Bruce and I said. Ahd I um...I assume that--"
He stopped her, his head shaking. "He didn't tell us anything."
"Oh." She sucked in a breath, "Let's just say, both your father and I say things that we shouldn't have. Not saying they weren't truthful...that deep down we didn't mean each and every word that passed our lips...but you kids aren't to blame."
Dick swallowed hard, "Why did you do it mom?"
Her hand fell from his wrist and she looked away, out to the window. "You don't understand how I felt after everything--"
----
Y/N silently stared out the window. Her hands mindlessly moving up and down her now flatter stomach. She felt disgusting and like a failure. A failure as a wife and as a mother and...as a woman. She was hurting. Not physically, sure her entire body was in pain, but mentally, she was in much more pain.
Her head snapped as she heard the door open. She saw Bruce standing at the door, an almost uncomfortable look on his face. She shakily looked away, ashamed to even look at him.
She heard his almost scoff, "Y/N, come on. You need to talk about it."
She looked at him slightly before whispering with a strained voice, "So do you."
"Y/N, I didn't...nevermind." She looked away again as he walked further in, "Doctors said that you'll be able to leave soon. By the end of the week at most."
She nodded, "Alright." Her voice nearly numb and void of emotion. She turned her head to him, "You always gonna hate me now?"
Bruce sighed, "I don't...I don't hate you."
"Why not?" Her words started to lace with their own venom, "I lost our baby. Because I'm such a..."
He shook his head, "Don't finish that sentence. You are not a failure baby. It wasn't your fault. None of what happened was your fault. You weren't gonna know that someone was going to come after you.
----
Now
"Y/N?" She felt herself freeze when she heard the voice. She kept her eyes everywhere but at the door. She didn't want to see him. Not here. Not now. "Dick can you--"
"Mom doesn't want to see you."
"Dick you don't--"
"Dick it's okay." She whispered, looking at her oldest. "Take Damian down to the food court, force him to eat some junk."
"Mom--"
"Go." She whispered before he silently nodded and grabbed the younger boy, starting to carry him out of the room. She weakly gripped the blanket, "Why are you here?"
"Can I not visit my wife."
She shook her head, "I am not your wife, Bruce." She looked at him angrily, "You're the one who served the fucking papers."
"And I can't--"
"Bruce, you told me that the only reason you were letting me stay in the manor was for the kids. Was so that Damian didn't have to losing another person." She breathed angrily, "You stopped loving me, not the other way around. You're only here to keep up appearances that you are a loving and devoted husband." She leaned forward in his direction, "But I know exactly what you are."
"And what's that?" He challenged.
"A selfish coward who only cares for himself and his image."
He shook his head, "I'm sorry that I made you think so lowly of me."
Tears burned her eyes, "Get out."
"Y/N--"
"Get out, Bruce. Now."
He stood and started for the door, momentarily stopping to look at her. "I still love you, I know what I did and what I said shows otherwise, but all I ask for is one more chance and I'll prove it to you."
Her lip quivered for a moment before she whispered out, "Tell the nurses I woke up."

Peggy lives under the shadow of Steve, even when she's the main lead
With the release of What If and Peggy Carter taking on the role of Captain America, Marvel is very likely patting their back on their "feminism" and how they've given us a badass female leader that can have her own spotlight however it's very easy to see how we are still seeing this story through a males eyes and male focus only.
1. The curse of being Cap's girl, she can only be his
Honestly the misogyny on Peggy's character actually begins since the first movie but we'll get into the little details later, the first glaring ones to me begins ever since the Cap 2 movie, when they show Peggy as old she has pictures of her kids but none of her husband, why? We are even told she's had a good life, a full life, so where is her husband?
Because in the patriarchal way, Peggy Carter, even as an old lady who has lived her full life and is basically allowed to... is still Steve's. It's more likely they didn't want to show who "filled his shoes", so to speak, this imaginary man, this husband who got to have Peggy, "bested" Captain America and you can't have that can you? I know it may sound stupid but we are dealing with a male's worldview.
It even shows when in her interview you can see how she still hasn't quite gotten over Steve, she even seems to reluctantly say, "That's where I met my husband", in that interview you can see she is still affected, aka she hasn't gotten over him but then you got to remember, she's married now, she's supposed to be over him, why is she still so affected? Why does she speak of her husband like an after thought? Why did she even marry a man when clearly she wasn't over her last? Peggy isn't the kind of woman to marry just because she had to, you know she would only marry a man she fully loved, not just to not be a spinster.
The answer is that in the male worldview, no one can supplant Steve Rogers but not because Steve Rogers is someone you can't forget but because in the male eye, Peggy is Steve's property, for someone else to have her it means they "won" over Steve and you can't win the representation of maleness. Peggy at best got second scraps, yes you heard it, Peggy's husband is just supposed to be a "second best" beside Captain America, I'm sure he was a lovely husband and father but no man can ever "best" America's representative of maleness, remember this is the worldview from a male perspective.
The only time Peggy ever gets some agency is in her show and there's a beautiful scene at the end of season 1 where we literally see her tell Steve good bye, she gets over him, by season 2 she is well over Steve, she's still affected, mind you, of course she misses him but he is no longer her world, in fact she can now flirt and get into the idea of finding new love and she does in Sousa.
It's really unfortunate when the Cap's girl curse gets landed on them because Steve was never supposed to come back into her life but then he did and of course this means crashing all her progress, they didn't just made them break up, they killed Daniel Sousa, there had to be no trace of competition so Steve could very joyfully land in the past and fit into her life as if he never left
Steve Rogers never gets over Peggy but Peggy did but since Steve wants Peggy, the writers took that progress back and made her love him again no questions asked.
2. On Captain Carter
Wow Marvel is sure patting their back thinking they nailed "feminism" when they grabbed Peggy Carter and turned her into Captain America.
In the first episode, they do get it mostly, she is bigger, she's strong and she leads the Howling Commandoes but there's one little trick that lets you remember, this is still a man's world.
Steve's Hydra Stomper.
In the original format, aka the movie, they sell Peggy to us as a top agent, and she is, we get some badass moves from her at the beginning but once Steve finally gets into his role as Captain America, she gets placed behind the scenes, it's the classical "woman in a high position" but really the real high position is Philips, Peggy at best is only seen removing little flags from maps but we never actually see her in combat until the end but of course she had to be there, otherwise how will we get to the final kiss scene amairight?
We should've expected the same treatment right? Especially since there's a very telling excuse for Steve to stay behind lines and be the master behind it, he's skinny now, he isn't fit for battle at all but he can still help coordinate the Commandoes right?
Wrong.
You can't leave Captain America, even in his skinny form, out the battle, what is he? A woman? Those double standards are what hit me, no one cared if Peggy Carter joined the fights, she doesn't have to, she's not supposed to, we all know she's Cap's girl, she's not a soldier so no one bats an eye but when the roles are reversed, it's inconceivable that Steve takes his assigned role as a love interest.
How interesting it is that when male characters are placed in the love interest role they just have to fight to be interesting right? It's almost offensive to put a man as just a love interest that does nothing but be there right?
I am also glaring at you Gwen Stacy, Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker's girlfriend is literally just a girl that got caught by the baddie and Spiderman accidentally killed but when they reversed the story and now it was Gwen as spiderwoman and Peter the boyfriend... He turned into a lizard, yeah the boy couldn't just be the boyfriend and I'm not even sure if he was the boyfriend or just the friend which also, red flags! Peter can have girlfriends but Gwen can't.
Back to Peggy, if they had only shown that first episode, it would've been good, some minor double standards with Steve's Stomper but meh, I'll live.
The real treat is the sequel, I'll also make an honorary mention on how also in other episodes they still grind Steve hard and show you she is very much in love, not a fancy, she hard loves him, not even Steve showed that much fanatism, but hey, back to topic.
My biggest glare to this episode starts with the Watcher himself, he says he never does sequels and honestly he's right, he shouldn't because the result is honestly shit, from a Peggy character pov
They copy the plot of Steve Rogers story instead of making a new one for her.
Yup, you heard me and fine she wasn't going to deviate much I know but they seriously stuck way too much into Steve's story up to the point where it doesn't work and yes I'm glaring at you Winter Soldier arc.
The Winter Soldier arc works so well because Steve and Bucky have history together, Steve and Peggy have just feelings, the relationship between Steve and Bucky and Steve and Peggy are severely different, in both cases.
For Peggy it is because she is a strong willed woman, she's had to fight her way everywhere, Steve sees her as an equal and both understand what it is to constantly be fighting to prove to others who you are because by being a woman/weak man, everyone looks past you, they undermine you, that is the Steggy dynamic.
Bucky is very different, he's exactly the opposite, he's a man of his time, he's charming, healthy, strong and noble but he isn't too moved to act the way Steve is, he isn't as strong headed as Steve is, he's been blanketed by society but thanks to Steve he gets inspired to stand up for others, remember that while Steve tried to enlist, they had to draft Bucky. One of the things about their relationship is that Bucky treats Steve as an equal too but not an equality of same struggle like he and Peggy, Bucky merely treats him as a friend, he pushes Steve out of his comfort zone, I mean he put him on the Cyclone, they rode on the back of a freezer truck, Bucky drags Steve into his adventures and treats Steve like a friend, not a sickly kid and then later on its Steve the one that has to repay the favor when it's Bucky the one's that the Winter Soldier. It's loyalty to their years of friendship and Steve knowing Bucky's character the best.
So no you can't just exchange roles and honestly the fact that if you see every single episode of What If, you quickly realize that while they may all start from a slight deviation, it leads to completely different scenarios totally outside of any MCU story.
Yondu not keeping Quill doesn't form a slightly different Guardian of the Galaxy, it generates an entire new Avengers team, they even get rid of Jotunheim and Asgard as an after thought, there's absolutely no step to step plot in any MCU movie, it's a brand new story
Same as Iron Man after the New York battle not going through the hole, it launches him into a crazy Space Race in Skaandar and while yes we get a repeat of characters and themes and places, it gets rebranded and adjusted to the characters it has, that being Tony Stark and even delves with other character's themes such as Gamora and Tony striking a friendship and both getting rid of Thanos.
This doesn't happen with Peggy, they reuse Steve's storyline, again and even pull other movies move by move, the episode is an interesting take but too close from the plot of the movies while every single one of them has deviated and found new interpretations of the characters under different scenarios, with Peggy this doesn't happen and they are trying to fit her neatly in Steve's story with slight changes but NEVER does she ever get out of the mold of being intently focused on Steve.
Even Natasha points on her dating like "what if he's named Steve?", Peggy also will never look at another man, it being her own version of "Sharon Carter", which we must remember Steve shared a kiss with, we won't ever get a whiff of a "Sousa", maybe a grandkid or something, nope you bet we never will because while Steve can, Peggy must certainly can never, she's is solely and only Captain America's girl, Steve Roger's love interest.

so i just read a post explaining why the op (and, according to the op, a lot of other people, even tho the post in question only had 32 notes, some of which were from people who disagreed with them) didn't like the cut to the crown keepers in last week's episode. while i'm totally on board with people not jibing with stuff that just doesn't work for them, i wanted offer some reasons why this seemingly hard pivot to people who are not the main characters of the story being told was a good decision to make (note good decision, not inherently the best decision, which i believe no one, including the dm, at a ttrpg table should ever be expected to make).
matt had an extremely powerful, extremely unexpected character decision dropped in his lap in the final moments of the previous episode. we don't know exactly how much time matt has between recordings, maybe a full week, maybe not, but either way, there's a very real chance that matt just did not have enough time to fully prepare a session to deal with fcg's death and what comes next.
sam now has to create a new character that a) is of a level with the rest of the party and b) makes narrative sense for him to be there. that takes time for both him and matt, and they might just need some space to work on that. when laudna died, marisha was willing to sit away from the table for several weeks because she knew that she wanted laudna to be resurrected, but sam may not want the same thing, and that's okay!
matt may want to fold the crown keepers into his main story, some or all of them—particularly dorian, whom both liam and the fans have been asking to return for a while now. dorian is clearly important to orym and the story that liam is trying to tell, and bringing the crown keepers in may be matt's way to do that.
matt—and dms generally—has always had to straddle a very fine line of making sure that his players are the main characters of their story who feel like their actions have real consequences and effects on the world, while also understanding that in reality, it doesn't make sense for half a dozen chucklefucks to have such an outsized effect on major cosmological goings-on like *checks notes* the potential release of a god-eater. this becomes especially true when you're on your third campaign set in the same world, and your players' previous ultra-powerful pcs are still around and definitely more adept and connected than their current pcs are. i, personally, think matt does a great job at walking that line, and one of the things he does that i appreciate is that he doesn't shy away from the fact that a) his players are powerful but not the most powerful and b) his players aren't the only one who care about what's going on in the world and who are taking actions to effect change. the current plotline re: ruidus is absolutely world-shaking and is causing all the divine girlies to cower in their demiplanes, so of course even the evil ones are going to be calling on their champions to help out. it makes more sense for opal to be involved (which, btw, matt has been hinting at for a while now) than not.
matt might need a fucking break! he's been doing this consistently for nine years now, and shit is complicated! handing over the reins to aabria for a week or two or three may be what he needs to not get burnt out.
dnd is an emotional game, and the entire cast might have been rocked hard by fcg's death. some space away for a week or two could help them process and regroup to get back into a story that is otherwise very stressful and action-packed.
or it's none of these! what do i know! i'm a random idiot on the internet! matt doesn't consult me on these matters! (though my dms are open if he wants to chat, i do have ideas)
i think it's tempting to think of the decisions made in and around critical role (or any ttrpg show) like those made for a television series, because the episodes are serialized and we love them so much. but this show is, first and foremost, a group of friends playing a game together, and not a carefully constructed narrative with the primary goal of entertaining an audience. the audience always has been and, frankly, always should be second to the wishes and fun of the people around that table. matt would not have asked aabria to step in and dm a crown keepers side arc if he didn't think it was a good decision for him and his players, and that priority is the correct one. we are being invited in to watch these friends have fun together, and that's a privilege that we're super lucky to have. as long as the cr story isn't doing things that are outright abusive or harmful to the cast or the audience, i don't think we should begrudge them the choices they make in the name of their own game.
again, it's okay if you're not vibing with the crown keepers! i didn't love the aeor arc of c2! not everything is for everyone! but i think accusing matt and the cast of narrative malfeasance is a bit much when, tbqh, they don't answer to us. they answer to each other.

💔 prompt Evil version of shadow Milk is setting up a ‘puppet’ show using the ancients as guests, they are not having a fun time. Feel free to interpret this how you like.
Requested Prompts #28 - 💔✙
CONTENT WARNING : Body Horror? If living puppets count then yeah.
You know, waking up in a theater may not be the oddest or freakiest thing ever, but that depends on context. And the with the prior context that you were chasing the huge, beast side of a cookie that is known to sometimes host gruesome puppet shows... Pure Vanilla Cookie couldn't help but be concerned. " Pure Vanilla Cookie?" He heard White Lily speak up from the seat next to him, she looked concerned and confused as to where she was. He was as well, but where were the others? " Welcome! new holders of the soul jam!" A voice crackled from around them, belonging to none other than the beast. " Welcome one and all to the Shadow Theater! We have a wonderful play for you all tonight!" They knew it wouldn't be a wonderful show, but they couldn't withhold their gasps of horror when the stage curtains were drawn open. Upon the stage were three cookies, Gingerbrave, Strawberry Cookie and Wizard Cookie, but there was something distinctly wrong with them. They seemed conscious, panicked. It was very understandable as to why they were however. Yet they couldn't open their mouths and scream. Impaled in their hands and feet were spikes connected to strings that tailed up into the rafters of the stage. The two ancients could smell and see the strawberry jam leaking from their puncture wounds. Their mouths, at least, were magically sealed. The look of fear in the trio of children's eyes was enough to strike panic and horror within the two ancients. Yet neither of them could leave their seats to help. " Here we have three, small, fragile little cookies. I'm sure that you two care about them a bunch, yes?" The beast said with a chuckle. The strings on Strawberry Cookie pulled taut, and the ancients could only watch as she was forced to pull out her lollipop hammer and turn towards Wizard Cookie. " So, theoretically... You'd be rather heartbroken if you watched them smash each other into pieces." " No!" Pure Vanilla yelled, extending a hand and reaching forwards in his seat to try and stop what was going to happen. The Lollipop hammer was swung down, the lights cutting out as a sickening crack filled the theater. The lights turn back on, revealing that Strawberry Cookie had hit a jar of Sweet Jelly Jam instead of Wizard Cookie's head. The pink clad cookie was crying, all three of them still looked terrified. " But, it's far too early in the show for a character death, especially a main character death." The beast tutted, " So, here's the deal. If you re-unite me with my other, much more pathetic half, then I'll let these three go! Easy-peasy! But if you refuse... Well, then little Strawberry is gonna get an encore! And this time... She'll be hitting her target." The Beast cackled in a sickening manner after he finished speaking, and a snap of fingers rang out through the theater. The Ancients watched in horror as they collapsed to the ground, the theater around them fading away as the trio looked to them with pleading expressions. They felt the forest floors of Beast Yeast below them once more, but what could they do? Gingerbrave and his friends were in danger, bad, bad danger. And yet they couldn't hand over Shadow Milk's good half, who knows what the Beast would do to the guy if he goes back? So then... what were they supposed to do? ... They should probably contact Reader Cookie before anything.

Hello! Want to double check that I've done a decent job of avoiding disfiguremisia, and try to turn it into great counter to hatred instead of just an okay one.
Preface: I have a form of memory loss and likely brain damage so I cannot always phrase things clearly although I will try my best.
Personally I do not feel happy reading escapist stories as that happy ending is not achievable for real people. We don't get to live in a place that's completely safe and free from judgement. I'd like to write people in a hostile world who find love and safety and community, however this does necessite writing hostility. I want to make sure I'm doing so with care.
I would like to make sure that the hostility written as tension does not tar how I write how one of the main characters. He should be written with dignity and respect even when he is not being treated well by those around him.
One of my characters is blind and develops severe burn scars. He wears a blindfold to help with photophobia and sensory overwhelm, but takes it off when its dim. (CVI plus autism.)
While he does wear a cloth coverings in public due to ugly laws, he views it as a ridiculous requirement and happily removes this mask when with friends. He also enjoys that being visibly strange or somewhat unnerving to most people means that shallow people who judge by appearances avoid him.
Question: what other things might I be able to employ to counter disfiguremisia? I have him being content with his face as it tells a story of his life and he's a blunt, forward person, not covering his face for most of the story despite laws necessitating that he do so, and a few other things too (and many side characters with facial differences and deformities also).
Also none of the central plotlines centre around facial difference. He's joining a servant rebellion, befriending a bitter exile intent on status at all costs, and discovering the truth of history. (Also a mind controlling octopus being is involved and a semi sentient moon amalgam thing but don't worry about it everything's fine.)
I think later books will be a more effective counter due to lack of ugly laws and him finding a lovely interest. I will also do my best to make the counters feel real and feasible - I want it to feel like an achievable option for those who deal with prejudice in the real world. I want his happy ending to feel real.
I respect the hell out of escapist fantasies it's just that they do nothing for me personally. I really want to write someone dealing with a lot - more than I ever have - and coming out the other end happy. Yes this world is hostile and will judge me but I can find joy despite it all. Some say the world is universally cruel but I have not found this to be the case. It is wise to be wary but myself and friends can create small sections of time and space where no precautions are necessary. Am I not part of the world? Are not they? The world is not universally cruel as long as I and those I treasure live in and we are not extraordinary, simply uncommon, and what is uncommon is still a great bounty. (Something to that effect.)
I'm set on what I want to write but the specifics I'm more than happy to change in order to bring joy. Do you have ideas on how I can do this full idea full justice?
Hello,
before getting to your actual ask, I have a "few" questions about the premise of the story itself.
You mention that you don't like escapist fantasies - that's fair. Taste differs; you can write whatever and that's great. But I do find the insistence to write a story about a specific type of discrimination as an outsider rather strange. If you want to have facial difference representation, I assume you want to have readers with facial differences, correct? I mean, I don't think that many able-bodied people would be too interested in it specifically considering most don't know what it is. So okay, this is supposed to be a story of characters with facial differences overcoming centuries worth of hatred and all that. Arguably more, considering that disfiguremisia and ableism go all the way back to Biblical times.
Why are you the person who needs to tell this story?
Just as people with facial differences are readers, we can be authors as well. We tell our stories. I will take an #OwnVoices book over a one that isn't that any day, and this fact will influence the rest of this answer. I'm a firm believer in #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs and all when it comes to this stuff.
Have you talked to people with facial differences who would be interested in the kind of story you want to tell? Do you know what they want to see from an author that's not taking it from their own experience? I don't count here, because as I made clear before, I'm not and won't be interested in it. I also don't know anyone in the community who has ever said "I wish more people without our experiences wrote about how hard it is to be us!". You need to make sure there are people who want this.
So, have, or will you, reach out to those that could like it? Sensitivity readers, random people online who like to read about disfiguremisia in their free time, advocates who work on media-centric problems? Anyone who would enjoy it is automatically a better candidate to help than me. I'm too jaded, I suppose.
If you want to talk about people with facial differences in such detail and setting, you need to get to know us. One guy with a specific set of opinions from a blog on Tumblr isn't that (thank god), but I guess I can serve as a reminder that not everyone will be excited to read a book that represents them in some way. We still have preferences.
To write it, you need to involve yourself in the community, start actually spreading activism about our issues. Preach about Face Equality and celebrate when our once-a-year week happens in May. See what disfiguremisia causes. Share our efforts to get all the problematic garbage off the big screen. Read our stories. Understand us as people who are incredibly diverse, and that not all of us like to be described as strange or unnerving.
If you only want to talk about our suffering as some quota to fill on a "types of discrimination" list, it will always be flat and inauthentic, and if you don't put in the effort it's pointless. We don't want tragedy porn, and we don't need to be included in every story about struggles that just wants some brand-new type of bigotry in it. We want authors who care about us, the living and breathing people. And sometimes it might mean respecting our opinions on writing disfiguremisia.
Here is a great post by @writingwithcolor explaining the effects of tragedy exploitation. Not everything there applies, but I would consider it a very valuable read.
If you think about all this, and decide that you are ready to write such a heavy, community-based story, go ahead to...
Actual Answers! Hooray
what other things might I be able to employ to counter disfiguremisia?
Sympathize with him. Disfiguremisia is a tragedy, it's brutal and it hurts. It's traumatic and impossible to forget, even if it wasn't happening constantly just to remind us that it's still there. On this note, I would recommend you research writing characters with PTSD.
Have him think about it. Sometimes I get home after getting stared down on the street and just want to yell. You don't forget a microaggression or a hate crime after five minutes. Let him vent and let him be upset. He can have flashbacks or recall similar situations that happened in the past.
I'm glad that he's aware of disfiguremisia unlike a ton of characters who are somehow always unable to figure out that it's a problem. If the ableism he's facing is so systemic and severe, individual people will be even more extreme. You can have him remember that the shop owner was a slur-spitting bigot, or that his neighbors avoid even talking to him. I want him to call them out - in retrospective, at the moment, in his head, whatever - on what they're doing. Throw a "not this fucking thing again" or something in there.
The minimum is to make him feel like a human with an internal thought process, who is able to actually experience what's happening to him, and for it to have long-term effects.
Also, outside of the whole disfiguremisia thing and me being overdramatic, check out our #blindness tag, and research burn scar care. If you don't show the boring and mundane, it will only feel closer to tragedy porn; just a sad thing one after another.
I will also do my best to make the counters feel real and feasible - I want it to feel like an achievable option for those who deal with prejudice in the real world.
This I think is the part of the ask that made me the saddest, and not because of what you wrote. I tried to think of achievable ways; ways that we did it, tried to do it, and are doing it, and one-by-one I crossed them out as "didn't work", "no one cared enough" or "kinda worked but honestly, it didn't". Face Equality is basically non-existent, not matter how much it hurts me to admit it! We are trying our best, and it doesn't work. It's just plain hard for me to come up with suggestions for this.
In fiction, I suppose that personal resistance is the way when it comes to this. I don't think there are feasible systemic changes that could happen that don't border on magical thinking or get into the "singular glorious revolution that somehow fixes everything and everyone lived happy ever after. We fixed racism, yay!". This just sucks. He could try to educate the people who are willing to listen - that's somewhat what I'm trying to pull off here on this blog, I guess. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't, but in his situation it wouldn't hurt to try.
The fundamental part here will be whether your character is able to find a way to make the ordinary person care in the end. To me, society who still hates us just as much, with a small group that thinks we're okay isn't a happy ending. The opposite, rather. It's cold and isolating to know only your friends could value you as a human being, and downright sad to imply that we should be happy for that. I don't mean that everyone should love us in every story, but there's a difference between The Ableism being represented by an antagonist or two versus the entire world except for the main characters.
If you decide to go forward with this story, I do hope your other readers with facial differences enjoy it!
mod Sasza

Giggles, snorting and all kinds of laughter filled the room. You were barely able to catch your breath, when a voice broke through the sound of heavy breaths and occasional giggling. "What the fuck kind of movie are you watching, that is making you laugh this hard?", your best friend asked.
The both of you sat in a video-call on Discord. He had been playing a game, which you assumed must have been League of Legends, judging by his continuous screaming, "Noooo!" and "What are you doing? We had it!". You had turned on your favorite movie eventually. None of this was a rare occurrence. You hung out with Felix this way whenever possible - both of you doing your own thing while being in each others company.
"I'm watching what is possibly the funniest movie ever, thank you very much for asking.", you looked straight at the camera, poking out your tongue. How dare he judge this amazing piece of media? Out fo the corner of your eye you could see your blue-haired friend roll his eyes. Though, before he had the chance to tease you back, you thought of a deal. "Why don't you watch it with me? I can restart it. And if you end up liking it and enjoying your time, I will treat you to a smoothie!"
The idea made Felix' eyes light up. He loved having movie nights, especially with you. And he was was being honest with himself, he couldn't give less of a shit what you guys were doing, as long as he got to spend time with you - his best friend, that he just so happened to have a not so tiny crush on. She he did what every sane idiot in love with his best friend would do; He responded with as little words as he could as to not let you hear the shakiness of his voice, "Bet."
You left your seat for a minute to grab a fresh bottle of water and Felix used the time to finish (and lose) the round of League he was still in. It took you a few moments to come back, so he made sure to to set his screen up properly. He could click on one of the images to have them fill up almost the entire screen, the rest of it being smaller at the bottom. After making everything look the way he wanted to, he noticed you walking back - a bottle of water in one hand and a bowl of fresh popcorn in the other.
The Australian silently cursed himself for agreeing to this. It wasn't the first time you watched a movie together, but he would usually be the one streaming it - the movie taking up his entire monitor. Today, for the first time, he had the chance to observe your reactions. He noticed the way your eyebrows scrunched together mere moments before you laughed. He saw the way you attempted to hide your shy smile as the two main characters kissed. He could even tell that one strand of your hair seemed to be bothering you - constantly tickling your neck. Felix knew he wouldn't be able to stop himself from brushing it away if he actually sat next to you.
"Yongbok!", your less than quiet voice ripped him out of his thoughts. You glared at the boy, or at least it looked that way to him. "Were you even watching?", you clicked with your tongue, fishing through the last few pieces of popcorn for the best one. "I was! I loved it!, he lied. Your best friend put barely any of his attention towards the movie. You smiled a little, popping the chosen popcorn-piece in your mouth, "Right? The part where the cat rolls in the snow is so good!" Felix nodded immediately, "It's probably the best part."
"You couldn't stop feeling your heartbeat get faster, almost pounding out of your chest, knowing you caught him in a lie. "Lix, first of all, there wasn't a single cat in the movie and it's set in summer. And second-", you leaned closer to the camera, "I can see the reflection of your screen on your computer-case a little bit. You had my camera on full-screen-mode the entire time.
His body reacted faster than his brain allowed him to come up with a witty response. A blush crept up to the tip of his ears in an instant. And even his neck turned about three shades darker. He tried to think of a response - any explanation, but he couldn't get a single word to come out.
"You know what?", you broke through the silence, smiling, "I'll still treat you to that smoothie. I mean it looks like you had a good time, no? Pick you up tomorrow at five?", you winked. When did you get so smooth?
Felix' blushed even harder at this chance of a date with you, even that was even possible. But what he didn't know, was that you were just as excited about it, as he was. So he gathered all the courage he could.
"Bet."

Next gen headcanons? 🤔
Like, Jackson, Cruz, Tim, Danny, Chase, and Ryan?
Oh boy, that's a few characters. Alright, strap in then. Probably also gonna throw in Bubba because he's my favourite non-main next gen <3
(Humanised, as always)
(Quick disclaimer for this one, none of these are supposed to reflect on the irl racers that gave their names and voices to them - I'm treating these characters as though they're entirely fictional and not based on/inspired by real people. I make my HCs literally just based on Vibes (and RPs))
Jackson Storm:
6'1 and fit AF. Clearly spends a lot of time in the gym toning his body and muscles. He is male model levels of gorgeous. Physically flawless black man <3
Short black dreadlocks dyed blue at the ends.
Aromantic (female-leaning)bisexual.
Autistic.
Ray knew he was autistic before Jackson even knew himself, and is the reason he even got diagnosed in the first place.
One of his most common complaints is still about the reflections of the sun glinting in his eyes. The loud noise of the track still gets to him occasionally, but he has special earplugs to help him deal with it.
Can usually be seen drinking a can of IGNTR's flagship energy drink before a race. It helps him calm down and focus in. His sponsors love it, for obvious reasons.
Any time he's on camera, he acts calm and cool but internally he's freaking out. If they ask something he doesn't expect, he visibly tenses up and flounders for a second as he tries to figure out what to say, even if it was a simple question.
Doesn't do fan meets or signings unless he absolutely has to. Even then he tries everything he can to get out of them.
His physical attractiveness makes his already poor attitude even worse. Doesn't know how to talk to people, but gets all the praise and attention he could ever want online.
Yes, he posts photos of himself on various social media. He wasn't sure at first, but Ray convinced him to start shortly after his debut race, hoping that it would help reassure him and give him a bit of a confidence boost. Naturally, it went a little TOO well...
He's a gamer through and through. In any downtime he gets, he's still topping the leaderboards on just about every popular racing game you can play online. He also enjoys the occasional game of CoD and will verbally rip anyone to shreds if they try to come at him.
DUBSTEP. He loves it. If his skull isn't rattling from absolutely filthy, grimy bass, he's not interested.
So, of course, he has to have an incredible sound system that's probably worth more than the average person's car.
He doesn't watch anime. (Stop asking him if he does) Most of his entertainment comes from Twitch streams.
He streams himself playing Super Corsa 4 any chance he gets. Which isn't often with the packed NASCAR schedule, but he tries his best. His user is UrStormChasing
Still doesn't get along with Tim after their rivalry in training and isn't very good at pretending he does either. Their crew chiefs have to make deliberate efforts to stop them from running into each other before they get into their cars.
Cruz Ramirez:
5'5 with an athletic build. She is a Latina woman with visible abs and she deserves them gdi.
Side-parted brown hair a little shorter than jaw length, perpetually kinda wild looking.
Chaotic lesbian hours!
ADHD
Literally cannot sleep at night without a big, milky mug of coffee.
It's not normal to wake up and go for a run before even having breakfast?
She's teaching Lightning to use social media more regularly (for better or for worse). His homework is to send her a funny meme or video that he found that week.
The result of this can sometimes be catastrophic. She'll never be able to unhear him uncertainly attempting to use outdated slang.
Almost every race, there's someone complaining about how she doesn't weigh enough and it's unfair to the rest of them. So she forces them to watch as race officials put extra weights in her car.
Has cussed Danny out in Spanish across Pit Road and will do it again if he carries on-
Is probably the only person on Team Dinoco that is actually nice to Cal and doesn't try to tease him. They get along well.
Tim Treadless:
6'0 with a broad frame and light muscle tone.
Tanned skin and tousled brown hair.
Straight ally.
Just call him Mr. Charismatic, everyone loves him.
Everyone except Jackson, that is. Jackson is the only person who brings out his anger to the point of wanting to throw hands.
Has a wife and a baby, bc of course he does.
One of those guys some people hate for being irritatingly perfect. Usually people that don't actually know him.
Has type 1 diabetes and a bad nut allergy.
Was pulled out of a race at the last minute when he went into anaphylactic shock - the entire race was almost stopped when people started to whisper that it was foul play. The race went on, but the only reason for Treadless' absence was that he had to be pulled for "unforseen medical issues".
Some of the other racers still blame Jackson, who actually had nothing to do with it.
Danny Swervez:
5'10 and fairly slender. Not a lot of bulk to him.
Tanned skin (he's Latino) and short black hair.
Cishet male.
This man is FULL of himself. What an attitude.
Genuinely a good racer, but not many people like him.
He's not a good guy. He's given Cruz some trouble for being a woman, though after she embarrassed him by publicly cussing him out in Spanish, he's learned to keep his unpopular opinions on her to himself.
Isn't exactly what we would call "faithful".
But hey, at least he doesn't cheat on the track (smh)
Has just as little respect for the older racers as Jackson, but is less vocal about it.
Is very bitter about Jackson and Tim being more popular than him, yet still does nothing to change himself for the better.
Has at least attempted to physically fight with other drivers that messed with him on the track several times.
Chase Racelott:
5'9 with a build somewhere between Danny and Tim.
Pale skin and dirty-blonde hair.
Straight ally.
Generally a pretty likeable guy. Not as well-loved as Tim, but he has a good amount of pretty dedicated fans.
Makes jokes about being single/available.
Has pretty average performance on the track, not great, but not poor.
Fairly high energy, he gets along well with Cruz.
Probably one of the best with kids. Has a lot of younger fans because of how he interacts with them during meets and signings.
One of the few who will try not to leave until he's spoken to every fan who wanted to meet him, no matter how long it takes.
Often seen hanging around with Ryan - the two of them cause some pretty good natured trouble together, often involving pranks on the other racers.
Ryan "Inside" Laney:
5'11 with a broad build similar to Tim.
Mixed race (¾ Caucasian, ¼ African American), with short black hair.
Closeted bisexual.
Friendly, but not really a standout character as far as the fans are concerned.
Kind of cocky, but in a cool way.
Has a girlfriend who travels with him.
Agent of chaos when he spends too much time with Chase. Don't turn your back on him.
Bubba Wheelhouse
Absolutely massive 6'2 gentle giant
Another gorgeous black man (fight me), his skin tone isn't quite as dark as Jackson's
Closeted homosexual
Has a fake relationship with a lesbian woman who's actually just his best friend (the racing world is scary and the US South probably wouldn't love an openly gay driver)
Kids ADORE him. Him and Chase are the drivers with the most kid fans.
Throws a football around with fans over the catch fence during rain delays (this one is based on the real Bubba Wallace bc its wholesome af)
Gets asked all the weird gay questions by everyone in the friend group. (Ex. "Is it gay if...?" "What is X actually like?")
Legit just trying to mind his own business, he doesn't want any part of drama or rivalries.
Occasionally finds himself roped into girl talk if the guys have their S/Os around. They're very excited to include him. He's too polite to decline.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
You found an ad on Indeed a week after you moved to Tokyo. It was an assistant position at the pro hero agency for Dynamight. You had previously worked in a smaller agency in Yokohama.
You got the interview literal hours after applying for the position. You were ecstatic, already picking out your outfit for the infamous Dynamight.
All went according to plan the next week, and finally on Friday you had the interview.
Walking into the building you felt so small, miniscule even. Clutching your bag closer to your body as you walked to the front desk.
"Uh.. hi. I have an interview with Dynamight, for the assistant position?" Your voice was meek at the beginning, but steadily got more confident.
The woman at the desk directed you to take the elevator to the 12th floor, where his office was. Saying he was ready for you.
Pressing the button to the elevator and walking in was the easiest task of that day. The day had been easy up to the moment you met him, Bakugou Katsuki. The biggest Alpha you had ever laid eyes on. Yeah you had seen pictures of him, but none of them prepared you for the day you met him.
That was a year and a half ago. You have settled comfortably into your new position and new home. The pay is good and the people you work with are nice. Excluding one.
Your boss Bakugou Katsuki was mean. Downright unbearable some days. But so were you. You could bite back with the same amount of anger and hatred that he used when you two bickered. You once called him out on the consistency of the disagreements you two had, called them "fights". He was quick to correct you.
"Tch, if we were fighting, you would know" He said with his usual snarky tone.
The man who you regularly had to be in close proximity to never seemed to be drawn to your scent. It was unorthodox for sure, but you never really thought much about it.
You knew your scent well. Freshly picked apples and a slight hint of mint. The alpha male that you were assistant to smelled richly of campfire smoke and the sweetness of iced tea.
It was an addicting smell, yes, but you never once thought he could be your mate. Not with all the fighting- sorry bickering you two did.
After half a year of working with Bakugou the fighting became more tense, like there was something in the air. Hell, you felt like you could cut it with a knife.
Then, he asked you the question all unmated omegas dread.
"So where's your mark, huh?" He was sat at his desk, smirk plastered onto his face as he looked towards you. And for the first time, that smirk lit a fire inside you, and you panicked.
You fumbled with your response as his gaze bore into you, unable to form a complete thought with him looking at you like that. But you were able to respond after a few minutes.
"Well, I don't see you mated either. What's the deal with that? A prominent Alpha like you unable to find his mate?" You were happy with your response.
But he wasn't. "It is bad enough I have to be surrounded by your scent all day, now I have to deal with you being a little bitch too?"
And that was the last straw, you got up and grabbed a stack of papers from your desk and headed to the copier room.
Finally away from his suddenly mind hazing scent you were able to breath deeply and clear your mind, yet the fire that he had lit inside you had yet to go out.
You opened the copier and placed one of the papers inside it. Then you heard the door open behind you and the scent you had just been able to get away from was engulfing you whole.
His voice rumbled in your chest. "Such a pretty thing, too bad you have such a bad mouth." He hissed into your ear, sending shivers down your spine. He had never been this close to you before, you were unable to think as the smell of smoke and tea was filling your nostrils.
You felt him bury his nose in your hair, unable to pull himself away from you. "So fucking sweet." He mumbles to himself.
Suddenly you felt his chest press against your back, it sucked the air right out of your lungs, now they were filled with the smokey air of the room. You tried to turn around but his hands quickly moved to your hips.
Tiny. You felt like the smallest thing on earth as his beefy hands grabbed your hips. He kept you in place as he spoke again.
"Where do you think you're going, sweetheart?" His voice was low, too low. It was awakening something inside you that you had never felt before.
You didn't want it to stop though. So you bit your lip and kept quiet, only mumbling out your bosses name as he squeezes your doughy hips.
"D-Dynamight" You manage to squeak out. The foreign feeling of his hands on your body making your brain even more hazy than his scent.
The warmth of his breath hits your neck, "Call me Katsuki, little one" Your body shudders again, a forbidden sound escapes your lips at his next movement.
His warm tongue glides from your earlobe down to your neck, right where your mating mark would be. His tongue stays there for a minute, circling around the spot as if he is mapping it out within his brain.
You feel like putty within his grasp, one of his hands moves so it's on your stomach, and he squeezes, making your body jolt.
He chuckles lowly, teeth now grazing against the spot, the fire in your stomach being fueled by each of his movements, no matter how small of a shift.
Your head started spinning as he turned you around, warm lips on yours without warning. Hands roaming your sides as he looked for the perfect spot to hold you close to him.
You could hear him, his growling, his absolute need for you. Then, his fingers were in your hair, pulling your head back and causing your mouth to open. Your eyes close as you feel the slight pain of him pulling your hair.
Then he spits in your mouth, his gruff voice following suit. "Swallow." It wasn't a question, it was a demand.
You have no clue why you did it, but you swallowed. And you felt yourself get wetter as he then lightly pats your cheek.
"what a good little pet" The words send heat to your cheeks, and he notices. "You like that, huh? Being called my pet?"
And you nod. You fucking nod and your heart swells. Your boss has you feeling things you have never felt before. These feelings are so new, so unknown. But you love it. You want more.
"Katsuki..." You say his name again. And you hear him groan under his breath.
"God. You have no clue what you do to me." It's the first time he has ever said something like that to you. And it makes you feel weak, but it makes you feel powerful too.
You look up at him, his huge figure towering over you. You let out a soft mumble of something, then he picks you up, laying you on the table in the copier room.
You finally get the perfect view of him, laying on your back and seeing the giant alpha who has been in your life every single day. You watch as he gets on his knees, pulling your hips to the end of the table.
"W-What are you doing?" You mumble out, he pushes your skirt up to your waist and then moves your thighs apart, his head finding purchase near your core.
And without warning he shoves his nose into your cunt, sniffing your wetness without a care in the world. Like he is the only one in the room. "So fuckin' sweet"
You think he's done with his pervy sniffing, but then he licks your panties, a long stripe of his saliva causing your panties to become even wetter than they had been from your arousal.
Your body rumbles as he speaks into your cunt, "Fuck you smell so good, hun" Your body reacts to his words, thighs squeezing shut in embarrassment.
"Come on, don't be like that" His hands pry your thighs apart, tongue meeting the sheer fabric that is barring him from tasting you fully.
"Y/N.." His husky voice melts any sort of resolve you had left, toes curling as you feel him peel off your panties.
He takes a sharp breath, hissing as he sees your bare pussy. Unable to resist as he presses his tongue against your clit, moving in perfect motions as his hands grab and paw at your thighs.
You moan softly, but he still hears it. And it makes him go even more feral. His mouth now sucking your clit as one of hands moves from your thigh. Pressing a digit against your entrance and pushing in.
The size of just one of your fingers has you wondering just how big his cock is, which in turn makes your head spin even more.
His finger searches for your spongy center, and once he finds it he doesn't go easy on you. Pushing another finger into you and bullying the sensitive spot over and over.
You quickly become a writhing mess on the table, a hand reaching for his dirty blond hair and grabbing a handful. Your body has no idea what it's feeling except for the fact that you are addicted to it.
A pressure starts building inside you, and you try and tell Bakugou, but he isn't listening. He's to focused on how good you taste. His whole world crumbling around him as he finally gets to taste what he has been dreaming of for years.
And you taste like heaven, absolutely divine. You taste like warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. And he cannot get enough of it.
You know for a fact the orgasm that is growing inside you isn't like any you have had before, it's stronger, much stronger. You can feel the tears welling up in the corners of your eyes as the pressure continues to build.
Then, it snaps. Without warning you squirt all over your bosses lower face, and he hums, being able to taste your squirt is like God's gift to him. He licks up all of the clear liquid as crystal clear tears drop to your cheeks.
After he has cleaned in between your thighs, he stands from his kneeling position, arms caging you in as he leans over you.
"Awe was that too much for you sweet thing?" His tone is mocking, but a soft sign of caring deep underneath. You shake your head and he clicks his tongue. Leaning towards you more and wiping some of your tears off your cheek with a smirk.
Your core is still on fire, you feel insatiable.
"Katsuki..?" Your voice is soft as you say his name, "Are you going to fuck me?"
He smiles and nods, "If that's okay with you, little one" And you nod back, a soft whimper coming from you when he confirms.
"Yes please.." Not even a second after you say yes his buckle is coming undone, and your heart is racing.
He moves his hands to your thighs, pushing them up to your chest with ease, holding them in place with one arm as he takes his cock in the other hand. Pressing his tip against your hole.
You take a sharp breath in as he pushes his tip into your walls, your eyes squeezing shut at the burning sensation of him stretching your cunt out.
"D'worry baby, daddy'll tak good care of you" His voice is like silk in your ear, so smooth and comforting. The pain almost goes away completely before he pushes more of his length into you.
He dryly laughs as he feels you get wetter from his words, "Such a fuckin' slut. Who woulda known?" He slaps your thigh, pushing into you as you squeak from the slap, already half of his huge girth inside you.
You feel like if he pushes any more of his length into you that you will most definitely split in half. But that doesn't stop him, his hand that was grasping his shaft is now circling your clit, making your walls tighten around him.
"Come on, I know you can take it" His voice is snarky, venomous even. But you nod, saying yes without speaking.
And you do, you take it all. Without any complaints because this is what you have been wanting for 2 years now, but you didn't even know it.
You pull his face to yours, lips against his with passion as he pushes the rest of his length into you, a sigh of relief comes from him as you try and adjust to his huge size.
But then he moves without warning. And you moan so loudly, loud enough to the point that you are 100% sure that everyone in the office heard it.
As if he read your mind, he speaks "Don't worry, honey. I sent everyone home for the day. No one can hear you, be as loud as you need to be."
And him just saying that opens a floodgate. As he continues to move his cock in and out of your wet cunt, you moan louder and louder.
His tip bullies it's way into your womb, the feeling mixed with your growing orgasm sends you spiraling, babbling his name over and over like a mantra. He is the only thing on your mind as he fuck you.
Then you finally feel it, the heat washing over you as you cum on his cock. Which makes him pick up his pace even more, picking you up from the table and slamming you against the wall, his teeth are hazardously close to your mating mark spot.
But at this point in time you don't care, and nor does he. His teeth sink into your skin and electricity goes through your body in waves.
He growls as he continues to bite your neck, so close to making you his forever "Fuckin' mine, ain't that right sweetheart?" the way your walls clench around him is the only answer he needs.
You feel his cock twitch inside you, his breathing becoming heavy with each thrust. His nails digging into your pillowy skin as he gets closer to his release.
"Fuck Y/N.. I'm gonna cum" He groans loudly, and his beautiful groans make you go crazy, pulling him closer to you. Not wanting to lose his body heat as you feel yourself growing close to your second orgasm.
"Please.. Please Katsu.. Cum inside me" You practically beg for him to fill you up, and he does. He doesn't waste a fucking second. You feel his searing hot cum inside your womb, and he keeps fucking into you with vigor.
Not stopping even after you have creamed on his cock for the second time, eyes rolling into the back of your head as the pleasure washes over your body.
He then pulls you from the wall and holds you up with one arm as he pulls the door open, walking you to his office and placing you on the leather couch.
You're on your hands and knees for him. Completely vulnerable to his whims. But you don't care. You want him to do everything and anything to you.
He grabs your ass with both of his hands, pushing the tip of his length against your entrance again and pushing into you with a purr of your name.
His cock immediately hits that perfect spot inside you, and he's making you see stars. And then he starts moving again, and you feel like you might faint. But by some ounce of luck you stay awake.
You feel every single vein of his gliding across your gummy walls. The sounds of your lust fills the room. You hear his hips snapping against your ass with every single thrust. And it just makes you wetter and wetter.
But he doesn't stop, not until he can feel you on the verge of your third orgasm. Then he slows down, his huge hand splayed out on your upper back to keep you pressed against the leather of the couch.
"You feel so good around my cock, baby, like you were fuckin' made for me" And that's when it happens. Your scents mix to create a smokey apple pie scent that fills the room.
You know he smells it too. And his whole demeanor changes, his movements become more languid, more sensual. Like he is thinking about each movement. With each stroke of his cock against your sensitive walls you grow closer to your release.
He whispers for you, a sound you have never heard before. "Cum f'me Y/N..." His voice is almost sweet, like the scent that fills the room.
And your body complies, you cream on his cock for the 3rd time that night. You aren't sure how much more you can take, but Bakugou has so many more plans for you.
He fills you up again without warning, and it makes you see white spots. It makes you feel loved as he fills you with his hot seed. It's so romantic to the new you that he has brought out.
"Gonna breed this pretty pussy of yours, make you all mine" He growls again and it makes the fire inside you burn even hotter.
And katsuki never says anything he doesn't mean. So he pulls you from your knees and pulls his cock out if you, making you feel so empty all of a sudden. Like a part of you is missing.
"Ride me, princess" His voice is stern as he sits on the leather couch, letting his pants drop to the floor along with his boxers. His meaty thighs exposed as well as his cock fully erect for you.
And you waste no time to straddle him, even though it hurts your hips to have your thighs around his big meaty ones, you endure the pain as you lower yourself onto his huge tip.
Bracing yourself for the searing pain as you lower yourself, nails digging into Katsuki's shoulders as you take more of him.
"'ts too much... I can't." And he shakes his head. Placing his hands on your hips as he pushes you down on his length further, inch my inch you take his whole cock. Not without your whines and begs for him to go slower, in which he clicked his tongue and continued anyways.
And then you took back control. Slightly bouncing up and down on the alphas huge cock, tears coming to your eyes as you feel his cock inside your womb again, even deeper than you had felt him before.
His face was buried in your neck, inhaling your scent as you were riding him. He couldn't resist you. Not for any longer. He couldn't stop himself when he found the spot to make you his.
You jolted as he licked the spot, but you didn't stop him. You wanted this, you needed this. More than anything in your whole entire life. This moment will make or break you.
Then it happened. He sunk his teeth into your neck, making you his. And all the stars aligned. You felt him cum inside you as He bit you, his knot growing quickly afterwards. Your body felt like it was floating, everything felt perfect.
Everything felt like it was meant to be. And you wouldn't change it for the world. He pulls his teeth out of your neck and pulls his head back, looking you in the eyes for the first time in what felt like forever.
His cherry red eyes meeting yours made you feel complete. His hand met your cheek, softly rubbing his thumb against your skin as his knot sat inside you.
"I've wanted to do that for so long, Y/N" His voice was sincere. And so were his eyes. You knew this was right.
The three words you had never said to anyone but your parents came from your lips so easily, "I love you, Katsuki" And your lips met his. Your heart swelled from the kiss.
He pulled away and repeated those three words back to you, "I love you too, Y/N, So much."
You're his. And he is yours. And you couldn't be happier.
The man that had once been a thorn in your side is now the one you are going to spend the rest of your life with.

So, with this tiny drama with Hans and sociopathy, I decided to ask a friend of mine, who has ASPD, what he thought of this whole situation with Hans. A bit of history - as you all know, I like Helsa, so back in 2014 when it was revealed that Hans was a sociopath, I went into research mode to try and discover more about this. That is where discovered Sociopath World, a website made for sociopaths to discuss how they navigate the world and to give advice to 'empaths'.
This is where I met my friend - we'll call him BG. BG is a clinical psychologist, film buff, and, as said, diagnosed with ASPD. Now, I didn't directly ask him about Hans at the time, I just asked him about the Hans - Elsa dynamic a lot without using their names (cuz, you know - I'm a shipper lol) we've been friends ever since, and I ask him all the time about film characters.
When I started talking about Hans and sociopathy more recently, I got an anon where someone questioned if I should be talking about this, so I decided to finally ask BG about Hans. I shared with him Jennifer Lee's comments, some posts within the Hans/Helsa tags, and of course recommended he watch the movie. To my surprise, he did it fairly quickly and sent me a reply today.
Few things to keep in mind - BG is very blunt, so sorry if you find some things he says a bit offensive or accusatory. Also, keep in mind (something he mentions as well) that he doesn't speak for everyone who has ASPD. Also, don't worry, he knows I'm posting his response here. I did edit a few things for privacy purposes. He knows this too.
Now, I originally wanted to include his response in my Hans and Sociopathy post, but to make sure that the post didn't end up being too long, I decided to place it here instead. His response is under the read more.
Thanks for contacting me, I always like evaluating people’s fascinations with ASPD. This is a unique one, a cartoon character. I’m usually asked to evaluate Elsa (spoiler, she’s not a sociopath) from this movie, so it’s a nice change of pace. Prince Hans is a sociopath. Let’s get into it.
So what we first have to establish about anyone trying to defend those with ASPD are their motivations. No one defends those with ASPD just for kindness's sake, not unless they have a positive experience with someone in their life (which is exceedingly rare with ASPD). Here, we’re talking about a cartoon character that was first established as a ‘good’ and then turns ‘evil’ for a shocking twist.
From what I’ve seen from this character’s fans, is that they focus heavily on the ‘tragic’ backstory of said character and the end-game motivations they have for him. Which in this case is the fact that they want to pair him up with other characters with their morality not being questioned. From what I’ve seen, that’s all they care about. They see an attractive character that they think has the potential to be paired with another, and they are upset that this attractive character has traits and behaviors that they are opposed to. Look, I know it sounds mean, but none of these fans would really care if the character was not attractive, charming, and easily paired with the female leads. That is the main motivation here.
I’m not saying they are not interested based on the character’s own merits and intrigue, they like to speculate about his past and childhood. But given the most popular depiction is him is with the female leads in a romantic sense, it is very obvious where the fans stand and why they are defensive of him. He’s attractive, he’s charming, he was really nice and chivalrous at first. But the reality here is that they are in love with who he is pretending to be. It honestly looks like the cases I deal with every day with real ASPD and Empath couples. The empath in the relationship is always making excuses for the sociopath, and I have indeed had cases where the empath denies the diagnosis. It’s really interesting to see this in behavior in fan spaces as well.
Now, here’s the thing. I don’t really care about film representation. Most people I know who also have ASPD don’t care either. We don’t really care about the things that empaths place on a pedestal. We don’t care about role models or feeling accepted and represented. Empaths always make us out to be villains or funny anti-heroes because they can’t fathom our behaviors being used for good. It's a reality we face, especially in this day and age when feelings and being empathetic dominate the social world. There is no easy way to showcase a sociopath being a hero within empath standards. Our definition of a sociopath being a hero is getting what they want. Hans would be a great representation if he got what he wanted. Do I speak for everyone? No. But honestly, I question anyone who claims to be a sociopath and actually cares about empath’s feelings towards us, or bases their value on fictional characters like what empaths do. Especially since most people who have ASPD are not even diagnosed, they can’t exactly question a representation of something they don’t know that they have.
Let’s change gears towards the comments the director made. The critique you got was that there isn’t enough evidence to support a diagnosis of ASPD with Hans because the narrative doesn’t explicitly state it and we don’t know a lot about his past; so can’t make a genuine diagnosis. In most cases, that would be correct. However, the director makes it very clear that her intentions for the character was for him to be a sociopath. She wrote him with this intention and made sure to depict him in that way. Thus, we don’t need to see his childhood or even make a diagnosis based on his behavior. He is written and labeled as a sociopath, so he is one. End of story. Sure, we can critique how the depiction was handled, and even the motivations behind making him a sociopath, but it doesn’t change the facts of the character.
I went a little off track here, but I feel this needed to be said first and foremost. Let’s get back to the actual comments. She states that she has a sociopathic mind and that she was writing him based on these traits. She also stated later that Hans being sociopathic was more interesting. You can even see the excitement she has when the person she’s talking to says “he’s a talented Scoiopath” and she says “He’s very talented!” She loves this aspect of him. It's her pride and joy. She obviously thinks sociopaths are interesting and cool, to the point where she thinks she may have some traits. Here, we know her intention behind it was romanticization. Is it a bit weird? Yea. It’s weird. She's romanticizing a disorder so it's always weird. However, the depiction was still fairly accurate. Cartoony and villainized, but accurate.
Which I guess leads us to the actual depiction. He’s a very typical Sociopath. Not much else to say. He has the sociopath stare, he mirrors behavior, he hates that his brothers dared to ignore him, he jumps into danger without a second thought, and smiles when he’s about to commit murder on Elsa. It's kind of funny how accurate he is. It’s like watching a comedy show where they say something relatable and you can’t help but laugh. The director says that her stand-out moment for him was when he questions Anna’s comment of being ‘just her’. For me, it’s when he stands up after being knocked out by the blast, without even acknowledging that he’s in deep shit, and just says ‘but, she froze your heart!” I laughed so hard. Only sociopaths would do this shit. “Anna, how dare you. You should be dead.”
And that’s all I have to say. Thanks for reaching out, it was definitely entertaining and a nice break. Have a great day.

Hi Rev, I hope it's not too awkward to ask, but I really really loved how you organized bookclub and the tristamp watch party and love all the discussions and analysis it brought on in the community here (I wasn't an active participant, but I participated in my heart and head every day with full excitement, enriched by the community).
To that end, I wanted to ask if you would ever consider hosting a trigun98 watch party, or if you'd have any tips to follow, since I think it's also an adaptation that did a lot of unique things to match the trigun essence and themes while having next to none of the official material as a reference. I'm personally find of building my own master doc analyzing the osts and the differences in each trigun iteration, and it fascinates me how they all diverge and reconverge on their themes. 98 is an adaptation that has a lot of depth to it if one scratches the surface to see how these unfolding events affect the characters differently, create new dynamics, and is arguably a lot more grim than the manga at times with how personal it becomes for our main characters. Despite that it holds a lighthearted attitude and outlook towards life.
Ah- that is me going off topic. I just thought I'd love to see what trigun lovers would think of it if we got a community event to look deeper into the series and discuss it, maybe even pointedly raise comparisons between the other adaptations.
I know that tristamp watch party is going to be active until the date the last episode aired, so I understand if this might be too much, or if the overlapping events might be too much. I just wanted to throw this thought out there, and also to give my thanks for all the positive energy you've built and spread through the community here.
Oh man, I'm so happy that you enjoyed them!!! Honestly, they were a blast to run. I didn't know what to expect going into either of them--I'm really just so shocked and kinda giddy that so many folks participated, had fun, and found friends through them. :D Regardless of if they created things or just read along!
I think a '98 watch party is a great idea! Unfortunately, I'm probably not the person to do it--I'm dealing with quite a bit and it's gonna be a rocky few months, bookclub 2.0 will be on the horizon at some point, and the other two Trigun iterations are more my bread and butter. (This isn't me shitting on it btw; it's exhausting scrolling through hate in the tags. Sure, I have criticisms for each version, but it's a very three-cakes scenario for me.)
But, like I said, this is an awesome concept for an event!!! I'm honestly a bit of a newb at running events, I've been on the fringes of mod teams before but these were the first ones that I actually ran, so I'm probably not the best to ask for advice given how much winging I do lol. I'd recommend looking at events you've enjoyed and emulating what they do, and getting the community involved as much as possible.
TL;DR: I can't do it, but if you or someone else wants to do it, go for it!!!

I loved Coexist! The whole story felt very complete by the end and I understand there's no plans for an immediate sequel or anything. But I'm a curious bitch and I love the world you created so I have to ask: did you ever have specific ideas for how some of the major events of season 4 or 5 (or beyond) would go down in that universe? I'm curious about how Faith and Co would deal with The Initiative with no Spike, how the Key/Glory/Joyce stuff would go down with Buffy at Northwestern, or just literally anything you might have thought about for the future of these characters. I'll take literally anything you feel like sharing.
Thanks very much! I'm glad you liked it.
Yeah, as you say, no immediate sequel plans (the big thing I want to make progress on next is my extensive Season 7 rewrite; after that though, maybe ...).
I have thought a bit about what might happen to the characters after the events of the story, though I'm not sure I have any ideas I'm 100% committed to. I have a few fairly vague plans for fics that would take place during S4 -- not necessarily following the plot of S4 as closely as Coexist followed the plot of S3, as I think the world is probably too different now for a lot of that season to happen and in any case I'm not really emotionally invested in Season 4 the same way I am Season 3 -- but certainly happening in a setting where The Initative still exist.
Spoilers for my fanfiction Coexist below the cut I guess?
The most developed idea I have is for a Willow centric fic covering her first year in Oxford: alternating between Willow POV chapters as she explores the university and runs into some familiar faces from canon and shorter chapters made up of emails or IRC messages she gets from her friends back in the US (both commenting directly on the plot and giving Willow advice/encouragement and letting us know a bit about what's happening back in Sunnydale). We know that the Watcher's Council have some sort of link to Oxford (it's where Giles went to train to be a Watcher; "where they make Gileses", as Buffy says later) and, well, I'm aware I never managed to find a role for Gwendolyn Post in Coexist and I think she'd work pretty well as a shady evil mentor for a young practicing witch.
That one has, I think, a non-zero chance of actually happening at some point (a real enough chance that I'm trying to be slightly vague about it, anyway).
As I think you know I am not the biggest fan of the Initiative storyline (and I think it has fewer narrative hooks in a world where none of the main characters are students at Sunndayle U and so none of them have met Maggie Walsh or Riley Finn).
But of course, no Spike doesn't mean the Initative aren't still putting chips in vampires' heads and we know that in this universe, with Buffy away at Northwestern, the events of The Freshman won't happen, so … there's still room in the story for a vampire whose name starts with an 'S' to get a chip in her head and then break out of confinement and reluctantly join forces with the Slayer, right? I'm not really sure why Sunday wouldn't just get staked as soon as she starts being annoying or obviously still evil, but then I'm never sure why that doesn't happen in Season 4 either, so.,,
But really, I want Buffy to have at least a year of things being relatively normal? In a way that would never have worked on the show, I want Buffy to get to occasionally show up and cameo in other people's stories while having a mostly uncomplicated time in college the rest of the year (I imagine she can still patrol without having to find a new Hellmouth; the show is a bit inconsistent about this but I figure there must be some vampires in the Chicago metropolitan area).
Other characters:
I tend to assume that Cordelia will still end up involved in fighting demons when she gets to LA (with Harmony, this time, but still originally looking to put the supernatural behind her). No Angel Investigations, obviously, but she can still meet Doyle and Gunn and Dennis the Ghost, right? I sort of like the idea of Lily/Anne Steele being a bit more actively involved in protecting people from supernatural threats in this world too: she never had the "can I be Anne?" moment here, but I'd like to imagine that her encounter with Faith still had a big impact on her. (I assume she picks a different minor Jane Austen character to name herself after if not Anne Steele.)
Oz and Willow will have to break up eventually because I still want Willow to realize she's into women (just not into Amy). But because I don't have a weird behind-the-scenes feud with Seth Green to inspire me to write his character out entirely, I'd like that to happen in a way where Oz doesn't leave Sunnydale, and gets to develop into a bit more of a person in his own right. (Maybe he gets captured by the Initative sooner, and that's something that can draw Faith and the others into getting involved with that plot?)
I have absolutely no idea how Tara ends up joining the gang in this setting, but I know she will somehow. I think she would fit pretty well into the group dynamics here, even without Willow around. No Buffy or Willow to stick up for her when her family show up on her birthday, but Faith and Jenny aren't exactly going to be thrilled by that either.
Oh, also Marcie is involved in whatever is going on with the Initiative in some capacity. I'm not exactly committed to how, but my current leading theory is that Professor Walsh's superiors send Marcie to (covertly/invisibly) keep an eye on their project, she sees how out of control things are going, and ends up taking Riley's place as the person the gang (well, Xander) knows on the inside who can warn them about Adam. (Possibly without them realizing exactly what Marcie's own agenda is.)
Season 5 … well, I know Dawn will exist and that Joyce will get sick (I think that's pretty close to confirmed in Coexist itself if you assume that Faith's dream about Dawn was prophetic). What that means for Buffy, and whether I can bring myself to have Joyce be more than just sick, I don't really know. Maybe rather than Buffy moving back home, Joyce will move to Illinois to be closer to her daughter and sister? She probably wouldn't do it while Dawn existed, not if Dawn had to move school again, but perhaps she would pre-Dawn and then the memory of Dawn has to get retconned in? Especially if she doesn't get the art gallery back up and running?
Maybe Faith heads up that way too after graduating high school? (I don't think even this Faith is likely to want to go to college, but Diana might have left her enough money she can try to get a place to live in Chicago while she looks for a Slayer-compatible job?) I don't think the Hellmouth itself is really that important for the Glory plot. (The Hellmouth is pretty quiet in Season 5 actually, I think.) Maybe things are stable enough for Jenny and Tara and Amy keep an eye on things and call the Slayers if there's trouble?
As I said in a post a while ago, I kind of like the idea of a Season 5 AU where the Key becomes Faith's sister, rather than Buffy's, but I don't think that's how things go in this setting. I think the twist I'd be more likely to go for here is having Faith be the first person to learn that Dawn isn't "real", and have to grapple with whether or not she tells Buffy that (especially because, in this setting, I think Dawn would still really look up to Faith, and I don't know how Faith would feel about that. How does a Faith who's friends with Anya feel about Dawn 'really' being, in some sense, hundreds of years old?).
The other idea I've had about Dawn here is just to play the game of: how exactly does Coexist play out in a setting with Dawn in it? When did she found out Buffy was a Slayer, did she ever meet Kendra? What happens with the First, or with Wesley, or Allan Finch? How does she feel about Buffy and Willow moving away? How does she feel about Anya or Amy? How does she feel about having to move again, if that's what Joyce ends up deciding to do? That feels like something I'd want to nail down a bit before I started any sort of Coexist sequel with Dawn in it.
Really no plans for beyond Season 5 at all -- or, rather, I have lots of plans and rough ideas for post-Season 5 fics, but none that I think really work so well in the Coexist universe. (I guess I hinted at things like the Beast blocking out the sun and Jasmine showing up somehow and LA being sent to Hell a bit in that story with some of the Mayor's dialogue, but I'm not exactly a fan of Angel Season 4 so I don't know whether I'd ever want to explore that any further. Certainly not the way it happens on Angel.)
As I said, I'm slowly working on plotting out a S7 fic, but that's in a setting much closer to canon and I don't know if I want to make plans for two similar fics at once. It feels right to me that Drusilla will be back to cause problems again at some point in the Coexist world (she's relegated to a dream sequence in Coexist itself, but in my very early plans she'd have turned up in Sunnydale in person and I think she still might later -- or maybe she'll be causing problems for Cordelia in LA? Trying to resurrect Spike the way Wolfram & Hart resurrect Darla in canon, maybe?), but equally I want Drusilla to be the Big Bad in my non-Coexist S7 fic, so I think I'd want to get that nailed down before I started thinking about any other story with Drusilla in and confusing myself.
But as I said on Ao3 a couple of days ago, it's important to me that Coexst feels like it ends in a good place for the characters and I think it does now; one thing I'm a bit wary of is starting a new ambitiously long fic in the same setting, introducing problems for them and shaking up that status quo and then not being able to complete it. I'd rather not do that, so I think any sequels -- if and when I ever write them -- will probably tend to be on the shorter side. At least unless I get a really good idea for S5, or learn the self-discipline needed to write a whole story before I start posting chapters.

not a request, just a genuine query - would you ever write something for an autistic/ADHD reader? just thinking about Symphony (as always) and how Vi is very much neurotypical. i don't know if any of your other reader characters in your other fics are ✨️ neurospicy ✨️ as the millennials like to say (i hate that term with a fiery passion)
in a way, all of my reader characters are always going to have Some elements of neurodivergency since i myself am several different flavors of it, meaning it's really hard for me to write from the perspective of a truly neurotypical character. i try my best, in the same way someone tries their best to capture the pov of someone from a different gender, race, nationality, etc. it's possible to write a convincing character after sufficient research, but there will inevitably be errors because of the inherent bias in the writer. that's just the truth of writing a human experience.
viola-chan is the first character where i've really gone out of my way to code her as neurotypical, since i find it an interesting contrast with donnie, whose autism (and its interaction with viola-chan's neurotypical communication style) are a huge part of the plot of the fic. since i code him as autistic and leonardo as having adhd, it kind of... scratches the itch for me for including those traits? so i tend not to put them explicitly on the reader character, since i find contrasts interesting. would it be possible to have a fic where an insert-chan has different manifestations of neurodivergence, thus giving that contrast? absolutely! i just don't have anything on the docket for it.
sidebar, not to be a millennial on main, but i really don't have any issue with the term "neurospicy" hahaha. i don't use it myself since it's not really something i'm interested in putting into my vernacular, but i don't have an issue with anyone who does. to me it kind of... normalizes the concept of being neurodivergent in a way that i didn't experience coming through my school years, so if someone wants to be more casual with claiming the label, i'm all for it. the more mainstream acceptance is of claiming the label, the easier it will be for someone to be open about being neurodivergent, which means you can be more open about accommodations you need, reduce the social stigma of the label, etc.
i've seen arguments that it "trivializes the struggle of having neurodivergence" or "makes it too easy for people to claim a label that isn't theirs" but tbh, it's none of my business How Neurodivergent someone is? and i personally love laughing at adhd jokes and autism jokes and stuff. i have to deal with the shitty parts of it, so i'm going to make it fun where i can. i make jokes about my "dumb bitch disease" and it's no one's business but mine when i make those jokes at my own expense. i'm sure other people feel the same way, and if their idea of doing that is through a cutesy little word, more power to them.
i also see the argument that it's "just annoying" which. hm. maybe so, if you don't like cutesy words like that. i personally see it as infantalizing, a bit. but i don't really think it's my place to gatekeep how someone expresses their experiences with their neurodivergency, and i'm a little suspicious of people who say to a neurodivergent person "hey the way you're expressing x is cringe, stop doing that" because that's a slippery slope to things like "the way you stim is annoying, the way you stare at me is annoying, the way you ____ is annoying" in a way that quickly becomes ableist.

Tagged by @stickers-on-a-laptop for this! Thanks for the tag. :D
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
152 across my three pseuds, 123 on my main/fic one, 25 for my art one, and 4 for my meta one.
2. What is your AO3 wordcount?
77,898
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mainly tokusatsu, and old anime. Though there's also some Zelda, and a few other things in the mix too.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Excluding the one that got hit by a kudos bot its:
Please Bird Call Responsibly (Ankh/Eiji, T)
A Reminder (Ankh/Eiji, E)
When It's Spring, and You're a (Horny, Horny) Bird (Ankh/Eiji, E)
Tell Me Your, Tell Me Your, Fantasy, Fantasy (Ankh/Eiji, E)
Hot Weather, Popsicles, And a Touch of Mischief (Ankh/Eiji, G)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yeah! Sometimes I forget because memory issues, but I like to respond to comments whenever I get them.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This one. (Post OOO 10th, probably the only thing I will ever write that's compliant with that film XD)
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That's a good question. I would say this one?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't gotten any yet, I think locking my comments to archive users only (mainly because of all the spambot problems) is a big reason why.
9. Do you write smut? If so, which kind?
I do. I just write it for the ships and characters I want to center it around. I've always joked "You can tell I'm really invested in something if I write/draw smut for it".
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest crossover you’ve ever written?
I do when I have the idea! They're fun to do. And I would say the fic where I make Ankh have incredibly awkward sexual tension with The Owner from Den-O is up there.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Two times, both in Brazilian Portuguese. :D
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not, but it would be fun to give it a try one day.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
AnkhEiji and Mayalock. I refuse to pick one over the other.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
There was this one WIP I had where Ankh and Eiji are dealing with a heat wave I don't see myself getting back to anytime soon. (Unless inspiration strikes during the summer.)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and characterization! I've had people point it out to me before as well.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions of things, I've always struggled with that. Which is why its something I've been really working on with my writing as of late to try and improve at.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't think I've done it yet (If I have I can't remember right now, memory issues) but the approach I would take is italicizing it to differentiate it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Pokemon! I'm pretty sure the first fic I actually wrote was a pokemon one. Though none of those have survived throughout the years.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I would have to say Wrap Me In Your Wings (And Hold Me Closer) is my favorite fic I've written so far.
Tagging @belovedstill @xing-hua @buddyaldridge @droppedalltheseoreos @dragonofeternal @setsuntamew (No pressure!) And if you see this and want to do it, go for it!

Never Have I Ever ... Felt So Weird After a Show Ended
Well, the title kind of says it all. I've definitely had a deeply odd, greatly complex relationship with this show, but it has defined a chunk of my life in a way that few pieces of media ever have.
Ben Gross specifically will always hold a special place in my heart as a character who taught me a lot about myself. I'll eternally be grateful to have gotten to know him over these few years.
All in all, my season ranking is 3 > 4 (though it's close) >>>>>>> 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2.
Season 4 initial episode ranking is 10 > 8 > 5 > 9 > 6 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 1 > 7.
That being out of the way, here's my ep-by-ep breakdown of some of my main thoughts on season 4.
The spoilers I saw for 4x1 and 4x2 made this whole situation seem way worse and more serious than it actually was. I can't blame either Devi or Ben for any of it, sorry. It was just a Miscommunications Overload. And quite honestly it was pretty fucking hilarious. None of it was serious at all.
What exactly was the point of Ethan? I just didn't get it. Unlike Des, he didn't really do anything for Devi's personal growth or storyline, either. Not a big deal, and I'm not salty, but I don't understand.
One of my favourite moments came in 4x4, when Ben got to have a little panic attack. Jaren did a really wonderful job of portraying it - as someone who experiences panic attacks, this felt authentic and realistic. His rapid movements were on point, and I also really enjoyed all of the facial expressions that truly captured his feelings. As always, Jaren's eye acting was on point.
When I first saw the interview, I thought that Ben saying "I don't trust my natural personality" would be some big emotional moment on his journey. In reality, it was a quick, random one-liner spoken to a stranger. This made it even more powerful to me. It's sad; it's something that he just takes as a fact of life. It's not even considered. Idk, man, I was so moved by it.
Ah, 4x5! My Benvi comfort food! I really loved their heart-to-heart at the end. I felt like it was really equal in who helped the other as well. Ben gave Devi a much-needed pep talk, but she also gave him one back! I felt so warm inside afterward.
Nalini and Andres had a really cute little plotline. I'm so glad that we got to see them together. The actors had amazing chemistry and IDK Nalini just really deserved someone to be there for her.
Ah, Margot. Margot, Margot, Margot. God. I do not like her. I was so proud of Ben for standing up to her. She should not have said what she did, and Ben deserves someone like Devi who understands him! Who loves him for who he is! I was already pretty fond of Benvi in 4x5 after their heart-to-heart, but @rainparadefromhell will be happy to know that 4x6 is the episode that made me hop onto the speeding Benvi train toward endgame.
Devi was actually her best self this season. She was hot-headed, sure, but she was also warm and invigorating. She and Ben both brought out the best in each other, which is something I didn't feel in previous seasons. I loved how she didn't lose her spark or her spunk but... mellowed out a little? Coming of age journeys work wonders!
Patty making Ben a special Columbia acceptance dinner warms my heart. I'm sad that we didn't get to see her (or Howard) this season, but it's okay. I'm probably going to write a fic where Ben and Devi have dinner with Patty (as he intended to do and failed with M*rgot, who is dead to me).
4x7 made me want to stab myself in the eye. It did nothing for me and Gigi was just as cringe as she was in season 2. I like Paxton but idk this episode felt really random. Though I WILL say that I understand its objective necessity to close the door on D*xton (thank God) and to wrap up Paxton's storyline in a semi-satisfying way.
Paxton's story this season did squick me out a lot, if I'm honest. I'm very sensitive to teachers/school faculty with poor boundaries, and it kind of weirded me out. I especially hated the D*xton kiss. I get that it was closure, but his being a teacher made it weird.
2x8 was, however, probably my next-to-fave episode of the season besides the finale. I love the juxtaposition between this episode and 2x9, where Devi did all in her power to stop her mom from dating again. It was really cute to see a full-circle moment here where she attempted to set aside petty squabbles and support her mom here. I loved this display of growth from Devi and wanted to give her a big warm hug.
Devi and her mom's relationship really tugs at my heartstrings in general. I've always thought it was kind of sweet, to be honest, and I like the way that Devi was so realistically supportive of her this time around. She just wants Nalini's happiness.
ANYWAY, the real reason I loved 4x8 so much is, of course, Ben and Trent getting stoned. I've always been the #1 advocate of them being BFF and their getting high together was my PIPE DREAM. I wrote a fic about it once. It was amazing to see it in canon.
Ben seeing an eye-cake blink and then eating a shit ton of Popeyes was amazing. Realistic stoner representation right there. "What's wrong with that apple" is going to live rent-free in my mind for the rest of my life.
But also I thought his gesture of going over with flowers and stuff was super sweet. I'm kind of sad that it didn't work out LOL. But it was funny.
Also, Jaren, have you ever been high? Because your movements and expressions were really on point for stonerhood. If yes, hats off. If no, an even bigger hats off.
Devi's prom dress is BEAUTIFUL like for fucking real. Its cut is really flattering and it brings out the warmth in her skin tone. Also love her earrings and hairstyle. Seriously, Maitreyi, if you ever read this, you're beautiful.
4x9 brings us what's probably one of my favourite scenes in NHIE:
Tumblr media
I really loved and adored the safety and intimacy here. Devi just fell asleep while Ben was talking to her? Ben felt safe enough, wanted to stay with her enough, that he fell asleep with her, too? Beautiful moment, and very well-acted by both Jaren and Maitreyi.
SERIOUSLY, Jaren and Maitreyi have off-the-charts chemistry.
Like WOW.
Anyway, other 4x9 thought: I found Devi lying about getting into all her colleges extremely relatable. We all live with this gripping fear of failure, and I think Devi (and Ben) contend(s) with it more than her peers. It felt extremely realistic, especially when Nalini told her how proud she was. Idk. I liked it. I also liked the heart-to-heart she and Nalini had about it later.
Maitreyi also did an excellent job during Devi's last scene with Dr. Ryan. This was a standout moment for her acting.
AND now we have 4x10. This is probably my next-to-favourite NHIE episode overall after Ben's 3x6 solo episode. (No offense to 4x10 at all, but the scene with Howard in 3x6 was so poignant that I have to continue ranking it in the #1 slot).
Ben and Devi at graduation were adorable. I wish we got to see Devi's valedictorian speech. I also wish we got to see Howard at the graduation - that's probably my main gripe in the season, though I'm okay with it. I'm sure he was there off-screen.
Also, good on my guy Trent for finally graduating, lol.
I teared up quite a bit when Devi sent Ben the Equitorial Guinea plaque and they had their text exchange. That was such a good little callback to a moment that they both remember fondly. I maintain that's probably where Devi began having feelings for Ben and where Ben consciously realised that he had feelings for Devi. So I think it was really sweet for them to go back to that moment and kind of rehash the "we make a good team" feelings there.
Loved seeing Devi doing the traditional Indian dance! Such a good contrast with her embarrassment in seeing others do it in season 1. Good on you for embracing your culture, girl!
Ben's slowmo enterance into the wedding and the subsequent love confession was beautiful. Jaren really sold the nervousness and the desperate joy with his eye acting alone, and the rest of his expression and body language here? Ugh. I could write odes. And Maitreyi did a beautiful job, too. This was definitely a wonderful scene of emotional payoff.
Ben and Devi riding away on a voi was a great parallel to Nalini and Mohan on their motorcycle in the past. It was so sweet.
And then there's love, golden, like daylight.
I love the last shot of Ben and Devi watching something on her bed at Princeton. It made me so happy to see them both achieve their dreams like this, especially Ben. And his body language was so... comfortable. There was no tension in him, when he was laying there with Devi.
Tumblr media
One final random thought: ...FOR NOW? Are we looking at a possible college spinoff?
Thank you to Jaren, Maitreyi, and the rest of the NHIE cast and crew for making this show happen. <3
