stuff i love (but mostly hate) about the IB:
Love:
- I’ve created a social identity with other IB students. (basically there’s a “we” in “we’re all suffering” as opposed to “i’m suffering”)
- the social identity is really honestly the greatest thing about the IB because I feel like we all think kind of the same, yk? we are all so stressed and scared but it’s kind of invigorating that we know we are all here together
- kind of related to that, I have some bragging rights about breaking through the IB fog after testing in May. I can say I did the hardest thing I’ve ever done, regardless of if I make good enough scores for sophomore status in college
- Colleges love IB students because hooray college prep give us all your money
- SMART CULTURE. I’m known as “that smart kid” in my family*
- conversations with IB students you can ONLY have with IB students. One time, my school put on a festival, and kids were running around playing, doing activities, having a good time yk. And within all this ruckus, a group of like ten students was standing out in the hallways laughing and arguing over what the correct chemical formula for cobaltic hydroxide was (COOH3 btw). that is a normal, everyday conversation at my school, and these people had to have been younger than me because i’m a senior and didn’t know them
- also, we’re all very tight knit. we kind of have to be. if you don’t leave before freshman year, or even up until junior year, you see so many of the kids around you dropping like flies to go to a normal comprehensive high school.** the size of my senior class as it stands right now is 72 people. i don’t know of anyone in my class that doesn’t know me by name.
- my teachers are WICKED smart.
- my handwriting has become phenomenal because all of our essays are handwritten.
Hate:
- even though it’s “we’re suffering”, it’s still yk. suffering. lmao it isn’t meant to be fun
- *being “that smart kid” means I feel like I’m being held to the standard that I’m meant to be smart and have all the answers all the time, and when I don’t, I feel like I’m failing at… my identity? if that makes sense? makes me feel really, really crappy
- when sleep schedule is screwed, it’s screwed BIG TIME. there’s no happy medium.
- forget to eat in favor of study/ procrastination
- pretty sure those fainting spells were because of forgetting to drink water. whoops
- **i am the only African-American person in my entire grade. the only other Black person in class of ‘23 is Nigerian, and she happens to be one of my closest friends.
- it gets really lonely.
- sometimes, my teachers are so smart that what are basic concepts for them are incredibly complicated concepts for me, and when they skim right past them i can’t get my bearings
- long nights spent watching youtube videos on biology concepts could all be retrieved if my biology teacher had explained them better for me.
- THE IB IS NOT ADHD OR AUTISM-FRIENDLY AHHHHHHHHHHH. THE 504 PLAN HAS RUINED MY PERCEPTIONS OF WHATEVER “ACCOMMODATION” IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN.
- i find that schools in general are not very neurodivergent-friendly. a solution to lack of focus becomes sit in a quiet room by yourself with a ticking clock in the corner that you just can’t block out because it’s just So LOUD and this room is too bright and someone’s watching me from the corner of the room for some reason why do i need supervision i don’t even know what this assignment is asking me to do and i can’t even ask that random staff member watching me because that’s not their job and they aren’t my teacher bc he’s busy teaching all the rest of the class that can keep up with him.
- just no.
but anyway. i don’t know that i’d trade the experience I’ve had with the IB. Character development, yk? and i’m aware it isn’t for everyone.
idk what kind of person i’d be if i hadn’t decided to go through with attempting to get a full IB diploma. i wonder whether i would be as thoughtful as i am now.

Ticklish Blue Marks
AN: I got this idea from reading the fic “No Cause For Concern” on AO3. I really liked the idea that Ghostbur leaves blue marks when he touches someone. This is based off of Chapter 16 if you are interested! I haven’t wrote fics in a very long time so I am rusty and I am expecting this to be bad.
Summary: Tommy was met with a transparent figure who claims to be Ghostbur while Wilbur is sound asleep on the other couch. He immediately takes a liking to the ghost because he’s basically Wilbur but less of a grump and more cheery. He quickly discovers that when Ghostbur touches people it leaves a blue mark, he soon discovers just what comes with the blue marks. Suddenly, he feels tingling on his arm. Basically Ghostbur wrecks Tommy with his blue.
I used he/they pronouns for Ghostbur in this fic btw
Warning: None
Word count: 1.8k
This is a swf tickle fic! Don’t like? Don’t read! :) Otherwise hope you enjoy!
Tommy woke up in a cold sweat, he felt dizzy from just being woken up by a figure in front of him. He couldn’t make out who it was just yet considering he was still droopy from having just been woken up. It took him a moment to focus, the other person next to him calling his name “Tommy, are you okay?” At the mention of his name, he looked up at whoever was next to him.
Being met with someone who looked pretty much exactly like Wilbur except transparent and gray was not something he was expecting. Especially because he could see the real Wilbur through him, who at the moment was sound asleep and snoring. He’d have to take note of that and tease him about it later.
“Who..,” He paused for a moment looking the other up and down, “who the fuck are you?” A puzzled look was evident on his face, regardless he wasn’t alarmed, there was a big bright smile on the other’s face that just instantly made him feel comfortable.
The figure just rolled their eyes playfully at Tommy. “I am Ghostbur silly!” He managed to both be enthusiastic and quiet at the same time. He didn’t want to wake Wilbur up because then he wouldn’t be able to hang out with Tommy!
“No, no. That,” Tommy pointed at Wilbur, “is Ghostbur.” While he wasn’t wrong, he wasn’t fully right either.
Ghostbur just smiled affectionately at Tommy, giggling softly at Tommy’s confusion. “You are so silly Tommy, you know that?” He reached forward and gently ruffled Tommy’s hair, much to the younger’s dismay as he bats at Ghostbur’s hand. “I am a part of Wilbur, I’m him but not as grumpy and like a ghost that only comes out when he is asleep.”
Even with the explanation, Tommy was still slightly confused but he nodded along like he knew exactly what they meant. “I see. So if I wake him up, you disappear?”
Ghostbur nodded his head “Precisely! I would appreciate it if you didn’t though Wilbur needs his sleep and he gets to hang out with you a lot more than I do.” The ghost pouted and wrapped his arms around Tommy, blue marks forming over the area he touched.
“What the fuck are these blue marks?” Tommy looked down, shoving lightly at Ghostbur’s hands to get them to move. Sure enough, Ghostbur’s touch was leaving blue marks all over him. He couldn’t tell at first but he could feel a slight buzzing on his skin where the marks were left. “The blue you leave isn’t like acidic or something right? It’s giving off a weird feeling.”
Confused at first Ghostbur shook his head “Nope not acidic, your skin will be fine and the blue will fade within a few days but it does kinda leave a ticklish buzz for a bit.” A mischievous grin slowly formed on the ghost’s face. “Why? Are you perhaps ticklish Tommy?”
At the mention of a ticklish feeling being left behind Tommy froze, yes he was ticklish and he did not need Ghostbur to find that out. “No! I am not! That shit is for little kids!” He protested, wrapping his arms around himself, the buzzing was becoming more intense slowly. It wasn’t properly ticklish yet more of an annoyance.
“Riiiight, so you wouldn’t mind if I tested that out and smeared some more blue over you as a tickle away at you?”
Tommy nearly choked on air at the question, “I mean it would be pointless because I am not ticklish. There’s no point in doing that Ghostbur.” This only confirmed for Ghostbur that Tommy was likely ticklish.
The ghost reached forward, teasingly wiggling his fingers at the younger, “Oh I don’t mind, doesn’t hurt to test it out you know. I would hope you wouldn’t lie to me Toms cause then I’ll really have to tickle away at you.” Without even waiting for Tommy to react Ghostbur went right in lifting Tommy’s shirt a bit to reveal his stomach and sides. They moved their hands to the younger’s bare sides and began squeezing at them.
At this Tommy let out a small squeak of surprise. He wasn’t going to give in that easily though, fighting off the giggles that desperately wanted to escape. “I’m not ticklish like I said.” The tingling was now starting to properly kick in, naturally, he squirmed away from the feeling even if it was directly on his skin. “Hmm I don’t know you seem to be struggling a little bit Toms, why are you squirming so much?” Ghostbur questioned as his grin just became wider with Tommy’s reactions.
The blonde just glared softly at Ghostbur “Because you’re touching me duh.” But before he knew it he could feel the intense tingling on his sides now, not realizing that because of the ghost’s squeezing on his bare sides it left the blue marks there as well. The floodgates open and the giggles began to pour out. “Wahahait dohohohon’t tohohouch myhyhy bahahare skihihihin! Yohohour gehehetting bluhuhue ahahall ohohon mehehehe!” The squirming intensified, he reached out to Ghostbur trying to grab their hands but his own hand phased right through him. “I’m a ghost silly, you can’t touch me unless I want you to”
Tommy groaned at the new knowledge, so essentially he was stuck with this, unable to stop Ghostbur at all. He just had to sit there and take it because Ghostbur could touch him but he couldn’t touch Ghostbur, juuuust great. While he was caught up in his thoughts the blue was finally catching up to him. It was buzzing like crazy all over. It only prompted more laughter out of him. “What’s wrong Toms? I’m barely even tickling you. I thought you weren’t even ticklish hm?”
Moving his hands to anywhere Tommy could he tried rubbing the blue off him to stop the buzzing. Much to his dismay, however, the blue just spread to his hands instead and more around his skin. “Fuhuhuhuck yohohohour bluhuhue! Ahahand ihihihim nohohot!” He didn’t care if he was contradicting his words at the same time. It felt like a million tickly hands all over his sides.
With that being said Ghostbur moved his hands to Tommy’s stomach. “Fine be like that Tommy, I will get you to admit you’re ticklish. Now that it seems your sides are covered maybe now I shoulder cover that cute little stomach in blue, don’t you think?” They softly poked at Tommy’s stomach once. The younger shook his head in disagreement, not trusting his words as a light blush formed on his cheeks. “I’ll take that as a yes!” The ghost cheered, scribbling his fingers at the spot, moving them all around to spread the blue.
Tommy’s laughter went up a few levels at the change of spot, his stomach was a lot more sensitive than his sides. Though it didn’t help he was still technically being tickled on his sides by the blue.
“GHOHOhohostBUhuhur! NahahaHAHAHA!” Ghostbur shook his head with a smile on his face. “Shhh Tommy we wouldn’t want to wake Wilbur up and have him see you all covered and blue as your a giggly mess now would you?” The younger shivered at the thought, he tried to stay quieter though he couldn’t stop his giggles.
The ghost glided his fingers over the spot, occasionally squeezing Tommy’s stomach to get the blonde to struggle with his laughter a bit. He couldn't help it, Tommy was just too cute that he couldn’t not tease him a bit. It didn’t help Tommy that the blue on his stomach was now tickling him too. This was completely unfair in his opinion. His laughter was wavering from low to occasionally squeaky and higher.
He was trying his hardest not to wake Wilbur up because he didn’t want to deal with that embarrassment. It wasn’t until his stomach was pretty much almost covered that Ghostbur decided to change spots. “Maybe I should move here!” Ghostbur exclaimed as he quickly moved to grab Tommy’s hands, pinning them with one of his own hands above the younger’s head.
He would never admit it but Tommy wasn’t minding this all too much. Either way, he couldn’t do anything because Ghostbur was a lot better to deal with in this situation than Wilbur would be. “DoHOHOhohon’t behehe ahaha diHIhihick!” Tommy tried to whisper through his giggles, knowing exactly what Ghostbur had planned.
Now Ghostbur had a sweet innocent smile on his face. “Aww but you’re just too cute I can’t resist myself, Toms.” He slowly walked his free hand up one of Tommy’s ribs. They took their time in making it to his underarms, one he made it there though he had no mercy, scribbling and scratching eliciting a squeal out of Tommy.
Ghostbur made sure to move between the two underarms, not wanting to give one less attention than the other. Plus he had to get the blue around somehow. Tommy was trying his hardest but Ghostbur just had to choose this spot, combined with his stomach and sides being wrecked at the same time. He just couldnt keep his laughter quiet.
“GHOHOhohostBUHUHUR! IHIHI cahahaHAHANT KEHEHEEP quhuhuiet AHAHANY LOHOhohonger!” Tommy could see Ghostbur begin to fade in and out because of how loud he was being, noticing Wilbur moving around in his sleep as well.
“Alright no worries cutie, guess I will just have to leave with a bang.” Before Tommy knew it Ghostbur planted a big and long raspberry on his stomach that spread even more blue across his stomach. He let out a loud mixture of a squeal and a snort. Ghostbur completely faded away and Wilbur began waking up on the other couch.
The tickling didn’t cease like Tommy thought it would though, the blue was still tickling him. His laughter was now loud and free because Wilbur was awake regardless now. Speaking of Wilbur “Tommy? What the fuck is going on?” The brunette rubbed his eyes before properly getting a good look at Tommy.
“GOHOHOHO BAHAHACK TOHOHOHO BEHEHEHEHED IHIHIHIM FIHIHIHINE!” Wilbur just got up, smirking at the scene in front of him. “I see you met Ghostbur then. Shouldn’t have let him find out you were so ticklish. I will have to keep that in mind for myself.” He poked at Tommy which caused the younger to squeak. Tommy’s face was red from both embarrassment and from laughing too much. “The blue will stop tickling you when you reach your limit, just so you know.”
Wilbur stayed with Tommy until the blue finally stopped torturing the younger. “You should go back to bed you know, it’s like 4 am.” Tommy just groaned and flipped Wilbur off before closing his eyes. And if Ghostbur swore to get Tommy to admit he was ticklish another time, well that was no one else to know.

Please do a scenario for the GOM reacting to their figure skater gf. Thank you 💜 I love your blog btw, its nice to see that the knb fandom is still alive. My heart is patiently waiting for a season 4 huhuhu 😭
Omg i will die if there’s ever a season 4. Also this was such a cute idea and I made Kise’s one so long and tbh it’s a concept for a wholeass fic lmao. Anyways, hope you like it xx
Scenario: GOM with a figure skater s/o
Kise
You and Kise had only been dating for a few weeks so there was still so much to learn about each other. Everyday there was something new that he learned about you that made him fall in love with you more and more. Even the smallest little things about you sparked his interest. Just the other day, he had a whole moment when he found out you liked the same cereal as he did.
Of course, him finding out you did figure skating elicited a bigger reaction from him than just liking the same cereal. It was just another Tuesday for you when your school day finally approached it’s end. Just you were heading out the school gates, you spotted your boyfriend standing and waving with a big smile on his face.
“Ryouta!” you squealed as you ran into his arms. “What are you doing here?” you questioned, not used to seeing him here since he was in a different school.
“I came to surprise my lovely girlfriend and invite her on a date of course,” he replied sweetly.
“Oh,” you said, your smile faltering as your shoulders dropped in evident disappointment. “I appreciate it, but I actually have practice today.”
“Practice?” Kise furrowed his brows. “Practice for what?”
“I have figure skating practice today. I usually head to the rink after sch—“
“You figure skate?” Kise exclaimed rather loudly; you were quite sure the whole street heard him.
“Yeah I do,” you giggled at his excitement.
“Y/N-cchi, how come you never told me? Can I watch your practice?” he asked, wide-eyed.
“You really want to watch? It can get a bit boring,” you asked.
“Of course I want to watch!” he beamed as he took your hand in his. “Lead the way.”
Grabbing a snack from a grocery store on the way, the two of you headed to the rink, where your coach was waiting for you.
“Woah, you get this while place to yourself?” Kise said breathlessly when you entered the chilly arena with skates in one hand and Kise’s palm in the other.
“Sometimes other people train here too, but today seems like it’s just me,” you shrugged.
You and Kise moved to the stands so you could get your skates on before you got onto the ice. After warming up for a bit, your coach went over your usual drills before you began to rehearse your routine that you were practicing for an upcoming competition.
Meanwhile, Kise was watching you wait nothing but intrigue in his amber eyes. Even while you were just doing your exercises, he found you absolutely graceful. Needless to say, when he finally saw the routine, he was over the moon. He had to hold himself back from hooting and cheering during it in case that threw you off. He was so excited in fact, that he had moved from his seat in the stands to the area right by the rink so he could get a closer look. His eyes never left you for even a moment.
Once your practice was over, you skated over to the edge where Kise was bent over the rails. “Well, boring isn’t it?” You said to him.
“Are you kidding me? You’re mesmerising! My Y/N-cchi is so talented,” he said, stealing a quick kiss from your lips.
Caught up in the moment, you didn’t notice your coach make his way over to you two. “You must be Kise,” he said, holding his hand out for the blonde to shake.
“Yes I am. Y/N-cchi’s been talking about me, haven’t you?” Kise inferred, throwing you a cheeky grin.
“Y/N’s mentioned you a fair few times,” your coach chuckled. “It’s your first time here isn’t it?”
“Yeah it is,” Kise nodded.
“Well, Y/N seems to do much better when you’re here. You should visit more often,” your coach said, making you want to crawl in a hole out of embarrassment.
“Is that so? I’ll do that for sure,” Kise laughed. “I was thinking that I should pick up ice skating too— just casually though.”
“Really?” you asked, eyes lighting up.
“Yeah, we could do a routine together if you’re up for it. Let me get the basics down first though,” Kise suggested.
“I can give you a few pointers if you need any. If I think your routine is good enough, maybe I’ll enter you two in a competition,” your coach said.
You were excited now; Kise was a quick learner so there was no doubt that you’d be practicing with him in no time.
A few months went by and Kise was attending almost all of your practices with you. He’d gotten quite good at it too— there were still a few falls that were absolutely hilarious because he’d whine every time, but for the most part he was much better than most amateurs.
Your coach was very amused by his progress too. “A basketball player and a figure skater in one— you don’t see that often,” he’d chuckle.
Figure skating was never something Kise saw himself doing. But looking at how beautiful you looked when you skated, an eagerness was lit up in him. No matter how hard he’d practice, he knew he’d never match up to you. There was something about the way you moved so gracefully that made him feel like whatever he attempted was inferior. He wasn’t complaining though— he was doing this for fun after all. Plus getting to see you move like that was a privilege enough.
Moreover, skating with you allowed him to spend even more time with you, and that time only increased when you two got serious about your routine as partners. Neither of you were expecting to win the competition, but you were certainly having fun in the process.
Eventually the day came where you were in an official arena with Kise. Sliding onto the ice with someone was a strange feeling as someone who was used to competing individually. In a way, it was reassuring. Kise held your hand tight as you got into position in the centre of the rink.
“Ryouta, I’m actually kinda nervous,” you muttered to him.
Honey eyes looked at you softly as your hand was squeezed even tighter. “Don’t be— I’m here with you, every step of the way,” he whispered. “Besides, you can’t possibly look worse than me.”
You felt the tension ease a little as you let out a giggle. “If we go down we go down together, I guess,” you shrugged, the idea bringing you a strange comfort.
“Exactly,” Kise smiled. He looked to the side and spotted the technician giving you two a thumbs up. “You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” you replied.
Kise nodded in confirmation before letting go of your hand and getting into position. “We got this.”
Midorima
Midorima loves you; he loves everything you do. Even if you murdered someone, he’d probably still love you (though he’d probably scold you while he helps you hide the body— but let’s not get into the specifics of that). Needless to say, he absolutely adored watching you skate.
Midorima is a busy person though, so it’s hard for him to find time to watch you as much as he’d like. Every time he did get the chance though, he was absolutely mesmerised, as though he was experiencing it for the first time all over again.
He’d never forget the first time he saw you skate though. You’d just begun dating and you had a competition that you invited him to. He wanted to meet up with you before it started, but his basketball practice ran on for longer than he expected. For a moment, he thought he’d miss it all together, but after a quick train ride and a lot of running, he made it just in time for your slot.
Admittedly, Midorima was really unfamiliar with figure skating. He told himself that he’d read into it since you were a skater yourself, but he never got the chance to. He made his way into the crowded stands and found himself a seat, feeling rather out of place considering he was still in his bright orange tracksuit. He didn’t dwell on it for too long though because his attention was quickly drawn to the ice that you were gliding onto.
For a fleeting moment, his jaw dropped. You looked gorgeous. The confidence you seemed to have as you got into position was a side of you he’d never seen before. It was like a different person altogether. Your name was announced in the speakers, eliciting a cheer from the crowd following by a small chatter that snapped him out of his trance for a moment. The music began to play and the crowd died down as all eyes were on you.
Right off the bat, you moved with purpose. Blades gliding on the sleek ice with such grace as your body swayed to the music. The moment you landed your first triple axel, Midorima was sure of it— this was your element. Completely lost in your routine, Midorima’s breath was taken away. And when it finally ended with a loud cheer from the crowd, he was left amazed. When his horoscope placed Cancer in first that day, he didn’t think he’d be so lucky to see something this gorgeous, but here he was.
He quickly rushed down the stands to meet up with you the moment he pulled himself together. As you were taking your skates off, you spotted him approaching you almost immediately— I mean, how can you not notice the 6 foot tall, green-haired man?
Your face lit up in an instant as you ran over to him barefooted and leaped into his arms. “Shin! You made it!” you exclaimed in glee.
“Well, I couldn’t miss a performance that good, now could I?” he said with a soft smile as he hugged you tight.
“You liked it? It wasn’t really my best score, but it’s up there,” you said, composing yourself and pulling away from him.
“I don’t really understand the scoring system, but you were phenomenal— really. I could watch you do that all day if I could,” he said genuinely.
“I don’t think I have the stamina to be skating like that all day,” you giggled. “But thank you, it means a lot.”
After that day, Midorima did his best to free up some space in his schedule to watch you practice. Seriously, he was addicted to watching you skate. It blew his mind every time. Of course, he’d be there for every single competition, cheering you on because he was now without a doubt, your biggest fan.
Aomine
“Competition? What competition?” Aomine questioned one day as the two of you walked to school together.
“Have I not told you before? I figure skate,” you said simply.
Aomine stopped in his tracks for a moment, catching you off guard as you stopped too to see what had happened. He just stared at you with a baffled expression. “You figure skate?! That’s fucking hot! Why haven’t you told me before?” Aomine exclaimed.
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Well I’m telling you now. I’m guessing you’ll be there tonight then?”
“That shouldn’t even be a question,” Aomine shook his head as he took your hand in his and continued walking. “Are you any good?” He asked.
“Well, I’m good enough to be in a competition, aren’t I?”
“True. I bet you’re great at it; you’re great at everything,” Aomine said.
“That’s not true,” you replied.
“It is.”
“So you’re saying I’m great at basketball too?”
Aomine visibly hesitated as he thought back to all the times he tried to teach you how to play. “Uh, yeah sure, let’s say that,” he lied.
“Shut up,” you laughed, playfully punching his arm.
For some reason, Aomine would not shut up about you being a figure skater for the rest of the day. You were trying to have a conversation with Momoi when he intervened, “Did you know Y/N’s a figure skater? How cool is that?”
“Yes I did know, Dai-chan. I’m guessing you told him about the competition today?” Momoi said returning her attention to you.
You nodded in response but Aomine stood there, slightly offended. “You told her but not me?”
“I just assumed you knew,” you shrugged, finding it quite cute how he was so invested in your sport.
“You shouldn’t assume I know anything,” Aomine said, making both you and Momoi roll your eyes and laugh at him.
Eventually, evening came and you were in the waiting room with your coach, with your eyes glued on the screen that broadcasted the current participant as you mentally prepared yourself for your turn, which was creeping up upon you. Meanwhile, Aomine was seated in the audience with Momoi, being as impatient as ever. “When is Y/N coming?” he yawned.
“Y/N should be up next,” Momoi informed as the song slowly reached its end.
The crowd cheered and a chatter started once again as everyone waited for the next person to take the ice. It took a few more minutes, but you finally entered the rink, skating to the center to get into position.
Almost immediately, Aomine’s jaw dropped. You looked stunning. The way your suit dazzled and clung onto your body was pure art. He swore that he fell in love with you all over again just at the sight.
The music began after a nod of confirmation from you and your skates began to roam the ice ever so smoothly. Aomine was blown away. You were nothing like the previous participants. The way you moved was so clean and purposeful. With each spin and leap, Aomine’s heart skipped a beat— you had his complete attention.
He was quite sure Momoi was talking to him, but he didn’t hear a word. For some reason, everything else around him seemed to fade out as he watched you skate, almost like he was stuck in a trance.
He was finally snapped out of it when the routine came to an end, leaving him at a loss for words as he joined the crowd in their applause.
You made your way off the ice and headed back inside towards the changing rooms, where you ran into Aomine and Momoi in the hallways. “Oh hey guys, what did you think?” You asked as you rotated your ankles nonchalantly to relieve them from the slight soreness you felt.
“You were so so good, Y/N. Dai-chan was so silent during the entire thing, I think you hypnotised him or something,” Momoi joked as she nudged Aomine’s arm playfully.
You turned your attention to your boyfriend, who was rolling his eyes at Momoi’s comment. “Well, was that performance worth all the hype you seemed to have?” you asked him.
“Of course it did. You did so well out there— not to mention the fact that you look incredible in that suit,” Aomine said, still unable to take his eyes off of you.
“Aw really?” You smiled.
“Yeah, you look fucking hot,” Aomine responded confidently.
You couldn’t help but giggle before you got on your toes to place a kiss of gratitude on his cheek, making him flustered. “Well, thank you Daiki— it means a lot.”
Murasakibara
You won’t be able to find someone that loves you more than Murasakibara does. Really, you won’t. He loves everything about you. Your smile, your looks, your mind, and even your hobbies. As someone who doesn’t really take much interest in other people, it was a brand new feeling to be absolutely smitten over you. But he was dedicated.
The two of you were still getting to know more about each other in the first few weeks of dating and the topic of sports came up. “Do you play any sports, Y/N-chin?” Murasakibara asked you during one of your video calls at night that he liked to have when he had nothing else to do.
“Yeah, I’m actually a figure skater,” you replied.
Murasakibara’s eyes lit up. “Really? That’s so cool. Do you go for practice and stuff?”
“Yeah, duh. I practice almost everyday.”
“No way. Can I come watch your next practice?” he asked.
“Sure, but I feel like you might find it boring,” you said hesitantly, knowing that you wouldn’t want to sit there for hours doing absolutely nothing but watch.
“Well, I guess I’ll find out,” Murasakibara said surely. “Do you have any videos of you skating?”
“Yeah but they’re not on my phone.”
“Send them to me, I wanna see you skate.”
You giggled. “Atsushi, you’ll see me skate at practice, can’t you wait until then?”
“No, I can’t wait. I bet you look really cute when you skate,” he said as brought another potato chip to his mouth.
“Well, you’re going to have to wait because I’m not sending you anything,” you said dismissively.
“How mean,” he pouted.
Luckily, you managed to change the topic of the conversation before he could beg of you any more. The day for your next practice came and Murasakibara was brimming with excitement as you two entered the arena.
After instructing him to sit at the stands, you took to the ice where you started with the warmups that your coach told you to do. Practice went on and Murasakibara gave you his full attention— which is an incredibly rare sight.
As he watched you stretch and leap and fall, he couldn’t help but be impressed. He certainly could never be able to do any of the things you were doing— it looked exhausting. Something about the way you moved had him captivated though. You looked like you were having fun. No matter how many times you’d fall or mess up, you always seemed passionate about it and that was something he envied ever so slightly, but at the same time he found it such a lovely sight.
You truly loved the sport, he could see it so clearly. And automatically, he had a newfound interest in it too. It wasn’t that he wanted to try figure skating himself, it was just the fact that he loved seeing you so happy that he began to enjoy the sport too.
“I’m surprised you haven’t fallen asleep yet,” you said to him jokingly once your practice came to an end.
“Well, you were just that good— you had my full interest,” Murasakibara shrugged.
“Really? I didn’t expect you’d enjoy it that much,” you said.
“I did. I might just watch all your practices from now on.”
“Sure you will,” you said sarcastically.
Little did you know, that he would actually do just that. At almost every practice, he’d be seated in the stands, eyes full of admiration as he watched you. He would often bring you little snacks that you liked so that you’d have something to eat after practice. There were times where he’d be extra tired, but he’d still make it to the rink, even though you’d tell him countless times not to feel obligated to watch. It usually ended with him falling asleep halfway through, but he never regretted it. It was always nice waking up to the happy face of the person he admired.
Akashi
Akashi was well aware that you were a figure skater before he began dating you. Of course, he’d never seen you actually figure skate, but he knew random things about almost everyone around him and being interested in you only made him want to get to know you more.
Akashi is a very supportive boyfriend to you, especially when it comes to your passions. Figure skating was a very beautiful sport in his eyes and the fact that the person he was dating was a figure skater was something he’d never get over.
Being the calculating person he is, he decided to take you ice skating on one of your first dates with him. It wasn’t a particularly busy day at the public ice rink so Akashi got quite lucky when the two of you got there and realised that the place was practically empty.
“Looks like we got the whole place to ourselves,” Akashi said as the two of you slid onto the ice, hand in hand.
“Yeah, it’s quite nice actually,” you smiled, appreciating the serenity of the place. “It’s kind of making me want to do a routine or something,” you thought out loud.
“Then do it.”
“No, we’re on a date, we should just skate together,” you shook your head.
“No, I insist. I’ve been wanting to watch you skate for a while now, and the opportunity finally came,” he said. “Besides, it’s just one routine, shouldn’t take too long, right?”
You let out a sigh as a soft smile spread across your face. “Yeah, I suppose,” you shrugged. “But don’t expect too much— I’m not in the most comfortable of clothes right now.”
Akashi chuckled. “No judgement from me. I just want to watch you skate.”
“Alright,” you smiled as you skated over to the centre of the rink.
Akashi stepped out and leaned against the rails to watch you from the sidelines, barely able to contain his excitement. There wasn’t any music playing so all you could hear was the sound of your blades against the ice, echoing throughout the arena. However, that didn’t stop Akashi from being fully immersed in your skating.
He was blown away by the way you skated, especially considering that he sprung this on you out of the blue. Every movement was precise and refined; he could tell that you’ve practiced to perfection and he was impressed. In fact, seeing you move so flawlessly had him swooning over you more than you could possibly imagine.
Eventually, you came to a halt, your breathing heavy after the spins and jumps, though you were quite satisfied now that you got it out of your system. Akashi returned to the ice with a smile on his face. “That was outstanding, Y/N,” he complimented.
“Really? You liked it?”
“Of course I did. It all seemed so professional— you really practice a lot, don’t you?” he pointed out.
“Yeah, I have been for years,” you nodded.
“Well, you’re absolutely stunning on the ice,” he said genuinely as he placed a kiss on your forehead and took your hand in his. “Shall we get back to our date now?”
“Yes, yes, of course.”
As much as Akashi would have adored to watch you practice everyday, the times often overlapped with his basketball training— though he did make it a habit to meet up with you afterwards so that he could walk you home (like the gentleman he his). Even though he was a busy person, he always attended your competitions without fail. He’d always send you a bouquet of flowers before your competitions as well, with little notes wishing you good luck and it would melt your heart every single time.

Ging Freecss Character Analysis
Hisoka Analysis| Illumi Analysis| Killua Analysis| Chrollo Analysis
What’s up, y’all? I am back again with another analysis. Today, I will be talking about Ging Freecss and I am glad that this was requested by @dukinaxael. I’ve been wanting to talk about Ging for a while and now is my time to shine. PS, I’ll be doing Leorio’s character next.  I’m sorry that this is so short! I haven’t been able to watch the last seasons because Netflix will not upload them. Enjoy anyway!
We all know that Ging is considered to be a dead-beat father to his son Gon. He is the reason why Gon wants to become a hunter in the first place and will do ANYTHING to achieve that goal. As the story is told, Ging left his home when he was 12 years old to take the Hunter’s exam. After passing, he never returned home, at some point met Gon’s mom, and saved a lot of felons/criminal’s lives. Now he is apart of the Hunter’s association (I think?) and apart of the Zodiacs (I think). Some of these next statements are assumptions because I haven’t seen anything past season 4. From that little bit of information, it seems like Gon gets his “over achiever” mentality from his dad. Who would have thought that a young man who had just obtained his hunter’s license would use it to help out criminals instead of busting them? Aunt Mito has expressed how she felt once her brother left and didn’t return, that is why she stressed that Gon should return home once he gets his license. She even stated that she cried for the longest when she realized he wasn’t coming back.
Tumblr media
The whole mystery about why Ging abandoned Gon is very fuzzy. According to Aunt Mito, Ging dropped Gon at his house, said that he isn’t with Gon’s mom anymore, and left while some people say that Mito took Gon from Ging because she felt that he was too immature to take care of him. Some even say that he lost a custody case to her. I can’t tell you if this is true or not because I don’t know and I haven’t seen any seasons after 4.
Judging from YouTube Clips, Ging seems to be a selfish dad and doesn’t care about how his son basically cried like fuck for feeling guilty about what happened to Kite.
Tumblr media
Leorio asked why he hadn’t seen Gon in the hospital and he acted like he didn’t care. If you think about it, Gon is the type of child that doesn’t want things handed to him, so maybe Ging was implying that he didn’t want to see Gon until he continued to push and work towards finding him. Still, that’s a horrible way to reacted once you’ve found out that your son is about to die. Here are some questions that I’m sure most of you have:
Why did Hisoka want to talk to Ging? Does he know that Ging is related to Gon?
Why does he refuse to go anywhere near Gon?
Why does he only talk to Gon on a high tree and not on the ground where everyone else is?
Why did he send his son on a goose chase just to find him?
I don’t want to say that I hate Ging but I strongly dislike him. (If he did do this) Why would you abandoned your child and leave him with your sister for her to raise? Then you send your 12 year old son, who had endured so much emotional pain/trauma from beasts he had to fight along the way, BTW,  just to meet you and then you only talk to him once your high off the ground? Ging, not the best guy in the world and certainly doesn’t deserve the #1 Dad mug.
Did Ging do all of this so he could make his son stronger while he was away?
In regards to question 1, I’ve seen some rumors on YouTube implying that Hisoka had an agreement with Ging to watch over Gon until he returns. I’m assuming this was after Gon left home.  Ging said that once Gon returns home safely he and Hisoka will fight until the death.
Tumblr media
Do you all remember when Hisoka told Gon something along these lines at the end of their fight at Heaven’s arena?
Many people have suggested that Hisoka had been protecting Gon and Killua from fighting opponents they wouldn't win against and it makes sense. He wouldn’t let them pass until they learned about Nen and beat the crap out of them hoping that the pain would cause them to quit fighting and never receive their Hunter’s License or take on strong opponents. Now if that last part is true, why would Ging set up an entire game to lead Gon to him? That's still twisted no matter how you look at it. Like I said, this manga is twisted in ways that I can't understand, lol.
Hisoka and Gon consistently fighting reminds me of Danny Phantom and Vlad Plasmius.
Tumblr media
Another person implied that Hisoka and Kite were people directed by Ging and along the way included Bisky (just by coincidence).
I would like to make a note. Pictures that were taken of young Ging portrayed him to be a happy and proud man but present day Ging looks angry, unhappy, and always ready to fight. Could this be due to the horrific nature of the Hunter's exam and other opponents that turned his innocence and humanity into something worse? We see the same thing happen to Gon. He was a happy bright kid that allows his anger to spiral out of control...and always wants to fight.
Well, you know what they say: Like father like son.
Ging and Gon finally have a talk as father and son.
Tumblr media
Apparently, Ging is on his way to the Dark Continent and forbids Gon to follow him. Overall, Ging has a toxic love for his son by consistently pushing his away until the very last second. I don’t know what is up but this anime is the definition of toxic love.
I can definitely say that Ging is a much better father than Zarkon. At least he acknowledges Gon unlike Zarkon who thinks his son is weak because he is half Altean. Damn, anime/manga’s; what’s up with the toxic father trope? Is this supposed to be the driving force to marketing these male characters stronger? Not going to lie, the toxic or sexist father trope is old and annoying .
This part of the analysis is based form what I’ve heard about Ging, YouTube clips, and what has been said about him. Of course I’m probably leaving out a lot of information but that’s because I haven’t seen the rest of the seasons.
Judging from photos kept around the house, Ging always wore his hat over his eye. I guess he was going for the Emo look when he was younger. His hat has hairs stick out from it which probably implies a certain type of cloth the hat is made from. In other instances, He has his hair sticking up like Gon’s but has a cloth wrapped around the edges. He wants them to be on fleek you know? Other times he just has his hair out with no hat or cloth. He usually wears white pants, shirt, and a blue cloth over his front and back side.
Tumblr media
I hope you all enjoyed this. I did try my best and I am so sorry that it is short.

Prompt 8 with Wukong and MK? I love the Monkey Dad ok. (Love ur writing btw!!!)
HNG Thank you! And hell yeah, any excuse to write Dad Wukong is fantastic! I wasn’t sure what to write for a while, but then I remembered a certain something in the show and their banter in certain episodes and I got an idea and ran with it.
“Yeah, okay, but I’m cooler.” “You sure?”
MK practically jumped as he walked, giddy excitement permeating his entire being as he remembered who was following him. It had taken so many weeks of convincing, but he finally got Monkey King to agree to come to the city and just. Hang out for a few hours. And his timing in agreeing could not have been more perfect!
He wasn’t entirely sure if it was his well crafted and highly logical arguments or the barrage of puppy dog eyes that finally wore down the ancient being, but he would take what he could get. Because he desperately wanted to show Monkey King what even more months of hard work and negotiations had managed to finally produce.
The Monkey King was instantly recognizable, but only if you knew not to look for a monkey. He’d disguised himself as a human as much as he could with no fur in sight (though still the same hair) and he was dressed in pretty basic modern day attire (MK wondered if he was even comfortable wearing this, but Wukong had brushed it off with a “go big or stay home”). Though must like his other forms, his tail couldn’t exactly go away fully and needed to be tucked under the jacket he had tied around his waist and his eyes betrayed his signature color scheme with markings that looked like some very skillfully applied eyeliner. MK now wondered if his eyes always looked like that naturally, given he looked like he wore eyeliner all the time, or if Monkey King made it a point to just look nice for himself every day. He could always ask later.
“Ok, you are going to love this,” He said, pausing in front of the anti-gravity arcade to gesture at it. “Trust me, it’s like the bestest most awesomest thing ever!”
“You’ve been saying that for the last 15 minutes,” Wukong said with a smile, looking for all the world like a calm and confident man. But to MK, he looked… nervous. He wasn’t surprised. The Monkey King had spent most of his missing 500 years in near isolation on an island full of monkeys. People… wasn’t something he was used to again. Not yet.
“Yeah, it is, but you know,” He stopped, gesturing around them. “If you want maybe we could get something to eat or drink first? I mean, it’s not exactly going anywher-”
Wukong put a hand on MK’s shoulder, shaking his head. “I know what you’re trying to do, bud. And I appreciate it. But if you don’t get me in there now you’ll probably spend the rest of the day trying to get me more comfortable and you’ll never show me this ‘bestest most awesomest thing ever!’, ok?” His smile softened as he ruffled the younger’s hair. “C’mon, show me this thing already!”
There was a moment where MK paused, just thinking about what was happening. When they first started training Wukong was already an invader of personal space, yeah, but none of what he did felt really affectionate at all. Just like something a monkey would do. But the hair ruffling? That was a human thing. Monkey King was not doing that on instinct. Either he picked it up from watching human shows or he was making a point to do more human things when he interacted with MK.
And the Monkie Kid had noticed this before in other little things the ancient being had done over the course of their training, like he was acting like Tang or Pigsy now. And he appreciated it.
“OK! It’s right inside!” MK shouted, grabbing the sleeve on Wukong’s shirt and pulling him into the building. He ran along the front wall for only a moment until he reached a corner, standing to the side as he gestured with wide arms to a big bright banner above a shiny new arcade cabinet reading ‘Coming Soon: Monkie Kid Run!’
“You have a GAME!? Is that ME!?” Wukong couldn’t help his surprise, looking at the intricate design on the cabinet in awe. Right on the top of the front were clearly himself and MK on opposite sides of the title, their friends peppering the rest of the sides of the front surrounding the screen. Various demons, all recognizable, ran along the side in the same beautiful art work and… “Hold on… This is your art. MK, did you make this? Is this why you asked for my lawyer?”
“Yeah! Kinda,” MK puffed out his chest. “The company wanted to have the rights to make a game based on me and it took a lot of legal back and forth but I managed to get it worked out where they have the rights to the game but I own the trademarks and the art everything, except for yours you have that! And the others. And all the demons, I kinda had to get them to sign some paperwork and offer them royalties and the lawyer really handled that part but I’m surprised so many of them agreed to it and- NO, that’s not important!” He gestured to the cabinet again, smiling widely as he waved a swipe card in front of him. “The important thing is I have a special activation card to play whenever I want and I want you to be the first person who gets to play this and I want to play it with you!”
For a moment the Monkey King didn’t say anything. He just stared at the game and MK, eyes wide and shining and after a moment he finally ran a hand through his hair and let out a chuckle. “Kid, I don’t say this lightly. But I am so fucking proud of you right now. Let’s play this game.”
MK beamed, swiping the card as he initially went to stand in the player two slot before he felt Wukong grab his arms and pick him up and stand him in front of player one. “Oh no, nope, your game. You get to be player one.”
Unable to help the laugh that bubbled up, MK watched as Wukong studied the buttons in front of him. He knew that the monkey knew how to play video games, he had systems in his house to play his own, but given this was completely different from anything else he had ever played he would be understanding if it took him a round to get used to it. “You going to play as yourself?”
“OH yeah,” Wukong laughed, taking a moment to admire how he looked on screen. The kid’s art was good. Amazing even. He’d seen himself so many times in so many different media but this… this was different. This was personal. “I’m cool as hell.”
“Yeah, okay, but I’m cooler,” MK quipped back with a smirk as he selected himself.
“You sure?”
The mock offended gasp of his student made Wukong laugh loudly, almost drawing the attention of a few arcade patrons. “Oh, it is ON! Prepare to get MKOwned Dad!”
“Bring it on!”
MK definitely did not notice that. But Wukong did. Yeah. This was personal. Monkey King was sure this was his favorite. His son had made it after all.

Patty have you ever asked Janus to join for dinner when you meet him? Maybe that can somehow help Logan with his flirting? Or at least get Janus more relaxed?
(btw you're adorable ily!!)
(*cracks knuckles* Oh yeah baby we’ve gotten to the angst. Words: 2364 )
Patty: ": D Oh hello lil magical bird who just talked to me! I love you too!! I didn't want to barge in too much into their relationship but now when my honeypie has asked him out once already I guess I can help just a bit!"
Patty had sunglasses on to look like a secret agent. This was an important step in her plan, she swore on it. She sneaked into the open library while chuckling to herself.
She glanced around and almost immediately caught her eye on Janus standing in the reception. She did a few sneaky walks between the bookshelves before sliding up to him.
"Hello Janister!" She greeted with a bright smile while putting her elbows on the reception to lean closer.
"Hiya PatPat. Logan is off helping a customer but he'll be back soon"
"Oh silly I'm not looking for him right now. I am actually here to ask if you could come over to our place tonight. You see I'm planning on making Jambalaya but I always make too much! I'm talking leftovers up to the roof!! But if a third person was there maybe I would be able to make a perfect amount" She lied. She was making jambalaya for Janus purposes alone!
Janus' heartrate shot through the atmosphere "To- me?- your place?- tonight?- I uh- I don't know if I have time-"
She pouted and did her puppy eyes "You sure? You don't have to if you don't want to!! But it would be nice!"
He let out a happy sigh "Sure"
She took his hand and let out a sqeaul "aaah Great! It'll be so fun!!"
---
Logan was leaning down so Patty could help him with his bowtie. "Are you completely sure I look adequate?" He asked.
"Oh honeybee, You look super duper ultra adequate. You're literally wearing a sweater with a math pun on it!!"
"Hmm sound argument. I can not deny the sexiness of math puns"
A knock came on the door. The couple stared at each other. Logan stimmed out of nervousness. Patty gave him a quick kiss before pointing between him and the door. They did a good luck high five.
Logan combed his hair back and leaned on the wall to look cool as he opened the door. Janus stood on the other side looking like a sardine that had just been pressed into a can.
He had on a purple vest with embroidered flowers details and with a long sleeved black button up under. Also a very funky pair of stripped pants with even funkier yellow snake socks under.
"Greetings Jan. You are looking" Like a dream. Like someone he wanted to kiss right this moment. "Very good"
"Aww are you trying to be a snake charmer Log-boy" Janus replied with a smirk.
"I am not a log or a boy. I'm an adult man made out of meat"
"You better be because I'm starving" He had downed 2 shots of vodka before coming to try to and cool his extreme anxiety. He was a lightweight.
Logan lead him into the living room "Are....Are you implying cannibalism?"
Janus shrugged while smiling.
The apartement truly did look like a mismatch of the couple's personalities. The walls were filled with maps of constellations and uplifting cat posters. On the bookshelfs cook books and travel books were stacked next to thick philosophy books and essays. The decorations were either cute porcelain animals, magical anime girl figurines or figurines of characters from Lo's different hyperfixations. The sofa was filled with fluffy blankets and pillows and stuffies were scattered around the light blue carpet filling the living room.
“Do you want to watch star trek while eating?” Logan asked with a hopeful glint in his eyes.
“As long as I get to watch your beautiful face as well” Janus flirted back while doing an unsteady fingergun.
“Oh- Of course” His crush’s sudden forwardness was making his heart flutter.
Janus curled up in the corner of the couch, making himself as small as possible. Logan sat down pretty far away from him.
He started the first episode. Janus had a constant smile on his face as he listened to Logan go between telling him facts and gushing over his favorite moments. All while he could hear Patty in the kitchen half singing along to dad rock.
“Does she want help with that?” Janus, known gentleman and also nervous wreck, asked.
“She’ll tell us if she need it. She likes cooking. I like baking. It usually works out”
Janus got an amused look on his face “You’re into baking? So all those times at work when you brought desserts, that was your making?”
“Yes. And they were delicious. Anything wrong with that?”
“No. No. I simply didn’t take you for the type”
“Well cooking involves creativity and there’s room for your own ideas. Baking doesn’t. It is only about following a structure and doing kitchen chemistry. Of course I love it” He lowered his voice “It is also tremendously good for when you need to flirt without words”
“Oh really? I better start looking up recipes then” He pulled in Logan's bowtie “You have any favorites?”
In his head he had the guts to say ‘Your lips against mine would be my favorite’ in reality he said “HehuHFKdjf jam drops in the shape of heart. The heart part is important. It adds to the taste”
“It usually does”
Janus slowly looked him up and down. And then he realized what the fuck he was doing. He shot back into his corner of the sofa like a naked rat. Logan sat still with blushing cheeks, staring at the tv but not taking in anything that was happening except his racing heart.
“Done!” Patty exclaimed, coming in with a big ass fucking pot of jambalaya and a just as big bottle of wine.
She saw the nervous state both of the guys were in and quickly made up a plan. She slammed the pot down onto the coffee table and moved the blankets so they took up about half of the couch. Then she sat down using up as much space as possible leaving the guys no choice but to move closer to each other, If both of them sat their hands down they would touch.
Patty cuddled up to her husband with a proud smile on her face. Logan moved his arm around her.
“It looks great sweetheart” He pressed a kiss to her cheek making her giggle.
“So do you!! And so does mr. star trek captain man!”
She enjoyed the hell out of her jambalaya while the two idiots sent each other awkward smiles. Janus downed his glass of wine in record speed. (He took it slower with the food, he didn’t want to seem disgusting).
The whole star trek episode went by. Logan asked Janus a thousand excited questions about how much he liked it. All of his answers made the nerd happy stim. They put on a documentary none of them were really interested in the background while continuing to chat. Patty went on a long epic story about how a kid at her daycare had tried to bite her finger off last week.
“Soooo” Patty sudenly changed the topic. She said it with an innocent tone “My nerdy lil honeypie over here had the biggest crush on Data for a while. It was adorable. ANd while we’re on the topic” The look she gave Janus was happy but it still sent shivers down his spine “You having any crushes lately? Just curious!”
Both of the men internally gasped at the audacity. The gall! The sheer power!! Janus was sweating like a naked rat who had just been clad for the first time.
“...Well.......I have actually been meaning to....Ask about the polyamourous thing?”
The couple exhanged knowing glances before looking back at him “Mhm yeah Mhm” “I am poly and also a thing so I am an expert in this”
“So...I totally haven’t fallen in love with 3 people. 2 of which I met in the span of around a week”
Patton did a double thumbs up. Logan took a long sip from his wine. “We’re all gossipy bitches here. Tell all about it”
“Well. The first one is Remy-”
“The one with the sunglasses?”
“...Yes...Are....Don’t tell me they’re a serial killer”
Patty broke up into a chuckle “Logie-bogie tried to kiss them while he was drunk once”
“I threw up on their shoes”
“He threw up on their shoes!”
Logan saw the terror in Janus’ face as he worried that maybe 2 of his crushes were exes and quickly added “We are only acquaintance and I was momentarily struck by the impressive lenght of their legs”
Janus went on to gush about Remy and Remus. Why he loved them. All the dates he had daydreamed about. And then finally his voice was shaking when he mentioned just having a third crush.
Patty let out a long yawn before he could say anything more. She stood up “Well looks like it’s time to snooze! I assume 2 big burly ultra masculine men like you two can handle the dishes”
“It will be a challenge but we shall do our best. Goodnight honey” Logan kissed her.
She leaned in and whispered “Good luck Logie-bear! You got this”
She giggled mischievously while going off into the bedroom. She closed the door behind her. Only the two lovebirds were left now.
“So the third crush? Who’s the lucky gentleman?” Logan asked.
Janus held onto his newly refilled wine glass so hard it nearly cracked. He forced a smile “Wouldn’t you want to hear about the fake couples counseling I go to together with Remus instead?”
“Fake what now?”
“Well me and Remus, who I am hopelessly in love with even though he clearly doesn’t feel the same way, started going to a therapist pretending we were a couple to see how long it would take before he realized we didn’t know each other. He hasn’t realized anything yet. It’s great!”
It looked like Logan’s eyes was about to bulge out of his skull “That sounds illegal. It should be. You are dragging shame onto the face of psychology you double dumbass!”
“I have done nothing wrong ever in my entire life and frankly I deserve to waste even more therapist’s time” Janus replied.
He let out a deep sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose “Which therapist is it that you’re harassing exactly?”
“Dr. Picani”
Logan’s eyes widened and he shut his lips tightly “Emile Picani?”
“Yes.....Please don’t tell me he’s a serial killer”
He slowly looked away while taking a sip from his wine “I have had intercourse with that man”
Janus choked on his drink. He coughed while staring at his friend with wild eyes “YOU FUCKED MY THERAPIST????”
“No.......He fucked me” Logan replied in a quiet tone. “Besides he’s not even your real therapist”
“He is still a sort of therapist man to me! I told him I enjoy Lana Del Rey. That was a very intimate moment for me!”
“Well I had a very intimate moment with him too”
Janus looked at him with flushed cheeks and wide eyes. He let out a chuckle which turned into a laugh which turned into Logan not being able to not laugh along which turned into the room filling with nothing but flustered happiness and laughter.
Logan grabbed onto his crush’ arm just to have some contact with him while his eyes teared up from laughter. Janus leaned his head against his shoulder and curled up close to him while giggling so much his stomach hurt.
“Oh we’re idiots” Janus sighed.
“We are. We truly are”
They stayed sitting like that. So so close. Logan’s arm around him. Janus breathing being felt against the other man’s skin. Their hands touching. Only comfortable silence surrounded them.
A few minutes went by. Janus looked at him shuly. His thoughts worrying about everything and anything “Should we- ehm- the dishes?”
The moment broke. Logan moved away before standing up “I uh yeah- we should”
It was strange. Just dishing together with his crush made Logan happy. All he could think about was getting to be this close, this domestic, with him every day. Getting to wake up next to him. Kiss his knuckles. Share a morning with him.
“Who was the third crush by the way?” Logan asked, glancing over at his crush.
Janus stared down into the water “I- I can’t say it”
“Understandable”
He stopped and turned fully to look at Janus. He had never been more unsure of where to put his hands before.
“Well I can...Say it I mean....I....I...Janus.....You make me happy just by being near me...You are so wonderful...I....I love you”
Logan couldn’t hold himself back anymore. He took a step forward and cupped Janus’ cheeks. He leaned forward, so close, so close that their noses and foreheads were pressed against each other. It felt like had been starving for this.
Janus froze. His wide eyes stared in shock at the other man. His hand moved up to his chest on instinct, to try and push him away.
Logan noticed his reaction. Of course he did. It was blindingly obvious. He forced himself to move away. He forced the desire to kiss him to simmer out.
“I-I’m sorry-” He mumbled out.
“No....Lo..” Janus took his hand. Holding it so so lightly in his own “I know” He looked up at him “I know. I’m sorry. I should go”
A horrible feeling of guilt filled Logan’s throat “You don’t have to”
“I should go” He repeated, letting go of his hand.
Logan walked after him as he went to get his jacket “A date. Do you want to go on a date? Not just a hangout. Janus I- I want so badly to be close to you. We could go to the zoo, look at the snakes?”
Janus held his hand on the handle of the door. He didn’t look at Logan “Thanks for having me over”
He left. Logan stood alone in the hallway. His arms hanging helplessly at his sides.

Hey, d'you have any French book recs? I'm trying to work on my French, and rn I have downloaded one of my favourite book series' French translations, but I figured maybe books already written in French might work better? Also have you read the Ranger's Apprentice series? 1/2
RA's def flawed - the books' narration does like to point bright arrows at the protagonists' intelligence, and the last few books def have the tone of 'old white man trying to write feminism', although at least he's trying? - and it's aimed more to the younger side of YA, but it is still a very fun series, and I can ignore the flaws fairly easily, at least partly due to nostalgia? This rather long lol but I'm wordy.
I'll start with the second question: no, although every time the series is brought up I have to check the French title and go "oh, right, I've seen these books in stores". But I've never purchased or read them. It sounds like something I probably would have enjoyed as a teen but I just missed the mark, and these days I'm trying to drown myself in queer books, so that probably isn't happening.
As for your first question, geez, I haven’t read a French book in years, so this is gonna skew middle grade/YA, though that may not be so bad if the point is to learn the language. I will also say that as a result, these may read a little outdated.
I'll put it under a cut, even if Tumblr has become really bad with correctly displaying read mores. Sorry, mobile crowd.
It's also likely that old readers of the blog will have seen me talk about most of these. I don't feel like going through old posts.
One last thing: while I was curating this list I took the time to make a Goodreads shelf to keep track of those.
The Ewilan books by Pierre Bottero
Tumblr media
(It's a testament to how long ago I read these books that these are not the covers of the edition I own, and I can't even find those on Google. I'm settling for a more recent cover anyway since it'll make it easier to find them, presumably)
There are at least three trilogies (that I know of) set in the same world.
The first trilogy is essentially an isekai (so, French girl lands in parallel fantasy world by accident) with elements of chosen one trope, though I find the execution makes it worth the while anyway.
The second trilogy is a direct sequel, so same protagonist but new threat, and the world gets expanded.
The third one is centered around a supporting characters from the previous books, and the first couple of books in it are more her backstory than a continuation, though the third one concludes both that trilogy and advances the story of the other books as well.
Notably these books have a really fun magic system where the characters "draw" things into existence. It's just stuck with me for some reason.
A bunch of stuff by Erik L'Homme
I have read a lot of this man's books, starting with Le Livre des Etoiles.
Tumblr media
They also skew towards the young end of YA, arguably middle grade, I never bothered to figure out where to draw the line. They're coincidentally also using the premise of a parallel world to our own (and yes, connected to France again, the French are just as susceptible of writing about their homeland), but interestingly are set from the point of view of characters native to the parallel world.
It also has a very unique magic system, this one based on a mix of a runic alphabet and sort-of poetry. I'll also say specifically for these books that the characters stuck with me way more than others on this list, which is worth mentioning.
This trilogy is my favorite by Erik L'Homme, but I'll also mention Les Maîtres des brisants, which is a fantasy space opera with a pirate steampunk(?) vibe. I think it's steampunk. I could be mistaken. But it's in that vein. It's also middle grade, in my opinion not as good, but it could just be that it came out when I was older.
Another one is Phaenomen, which was a deliberate attempt at skewing older (though still YA). This one is set in our (then-)modern world and centers a group of teens who happen to have supernatural powers. I guess the best way to describe it is a superhero thriller? If you take "superhero" in the sense of "people with individualized powers", since they don't really do a lot of heroing.
...I really need to brush up on genre terminology, don't I.
The Ji series by Pierre Grimbert
Tumblr media
This one is actually adult fantasy, though it definitely falls under "probably outdated". It is very straight, for starters, and I'd have to give it another read to give a more critical reading of how it handles race (it attempts to do it, and is well meaning, but I'm not sure it survives the test of time & scrutiny, basically).
If I haven't lost you already, the premise is this: a few generations ago, a weird man named Nol gathered emissaries from each nation of the world and took them to a trip to the titular Ji island. Nobody knows what went down here, but now in the present day, someone is trying to kill off all descendants from those emissaries, who are as a result forced to team up and figure out what's going on.
I'm not going to spoil past that, though I will say it has (surprise) a really unique magic system! I guess you can start to piece together what my younger self was interested in. Which, admittedly, I still am.
Once again, this one also has a strong cast of characters, helped by rich world building and the premise forcing the characters to come from many different cultures (though, again, I can't vouch for the handling of race because it's been too long).
The first series is complete by itself, though it has two sequel series as well, each focusing on the next generation in these families. Because yes, of course they all pair up and have kids. Like I said: very straight.
A whole lot of books by Jean-Louis Fetjaine
Tumblr media
OFetjaine is a historian, and I guess he's really interested in Arthurian mythos especially, because he loves it so much he's written two separate high fantasy retellings of them! I'm not criticizing, mind you, we all need a hobby.
The former, the Elves trilogy (pictures above) is very traditional high fantasy. Elves, dwarves, orcs, a world which is definitely fictionalized with a pan-Celtic vibe to it. The holy grail and excalibur are around, but they're relics possessed by the elves and dwarves with very different powers than usual. Et cetera.
Fetjaine also really loves his elves (as the titles might imply), and while they're not exactly Tolkien elves, there's a similar vibe to them. If you like Tolkien and his elf boner, you'll probably like this too. And conversely, if that turns you off, these books probably also won't work for you.
This series also has a prequel trilogy, centered around the backstory of one of the main characters. I...honestly don't remember too much about it, but I liked it, so, there you go, I guess.
I said Fetjaine did it twice. The other series is the Merlin duology, which, as the title implies, is a retelling of Merlin's story. Note that Merlin is also in the other trilogy, but it's a different Merlin; like I said, completely different continuities and stories.
This one is historical fantasy, so it's set in actual Great Britain, and Fetjaine attempts to connect Arthur to a "real" historical figure...but, you know, Merlin is also half-elf and elves totally exist in Brocéliande, so, you know. History.
Okay, that's probably enough fantasy, let me give some classics too.
L'Arbre des possibles et autres histoires - Bernard Werber
Tumblr media
Bernard Werber is a pretty seminal author of French sci-fi and I should probably be embarrassed that the only book of his that I read was for school, but, it is a really good one, so I'll include it anyway.
It's a novella collection, and when I say "sci-fi" I want to make it clear that it's very old school science fiction. It's more Frankenstein or Black Mirror than Star Trek, what we in French call the anticipation genre of science fiction: you take one piece of technology or cultural norm and project it into the future.
It has a pretty wide range of topics and tones, so it's bound to have some better than others. My personal faves were Du pain et des jeux, where football (non-American) has evolved into basically a wargame, and Tel maître, tel lion, where any animal is considered acceptable as a pet, no matter how absurd it is to keep as a pet. They're both on a comedic end, but there's more heartfelt stuff too.
L'Ecume des Jours - Boris Vian
(no cover because I can't find the one I have, and the ones I find are ugly)
This book is surrealist. Like, literally a part of the surrealist movement. It features things such as a lilypad growing inside a woman's lungs (and, as you well know, lilypads double in size every day, wink wink), the protagonist's apartment becoming larger and smaller to go with his mood and current financial situation, and more that I can't even recall at the moment because remembering this book is like trying to remember having an aneurysm.
It is also really, really fun and touching. Oh, and it has a pretty solid movie adaptation, starring Audrey Tautou, who I think an international audience would probably recognize from Amelie or the Da Vinci Code movie.
I don't really know what else to say. It's a really cool read!
Le Roi se meurt - Eugène Ionesco
Ionesco is somewhat famous worldwide so I wasn't even sure to include him here. He's a playwright who wrote in the "Theater of the Absurd" movement, and this play is part of that.
The premise of this play is that the King (of an unnamed land) is dying, and the land is dying with him. I don't really know what else to say. It's theater of the absurd. It kind of has to be experienced (the published version works fine, btw, no need to track down an actual performance, in my humble opinion).
The Plague - Albert Camus
You've probably heard of this one, and if you haven't, let me tell you about a guy called Carlos Maza
youtube
I'm honestly more including this book out of a sense of duty. The other three are books I genuinely liked and happen to be classics. This book was an awful read. But, um. It's kind of relevant now in a way it wasn't (or didn't feel, anyway) back in 2008 or 2009, when I read it. And I don't just mean because of our own plague, since Camus's plague is pretty famously an allegory for fascism, which my teenage self sneered at, and my adult self really regrets every feeling that way.
Okay, finally, some more lighthearted stuff, we gotta talk about the Belgian and French art of bande dessinée. How is it different from comic books or manga? Functionally, it isn't. It really comes down more to what gets published in the Belgian-French industry compared to the American comics industry, which is dominated by superheroes, or the Japanese manga industry, which, while I'm less familiar with it, I know has some big genre trends as well that are completely separate.
The Lanfeust series - Arleston and Tarquin
Tumblr media
This is a YA mega-series, and I can't recommend all of it because I've lost track of the franchise's growth. Also note that I say "YA", but in this case it means something very different from an American understanding of YA. These books are pretty full of sex.
No, when I say YA I mean it has that level of maturity, for better or worse. The original series (Lanfeust de Troy) is high fantasy in a world where everyone has an individual magical ability but two characters find out they're gifted with an absolute power to make anything happen, and while it gets dark at times, it's still very lighthearted throughout, and the humor is...well, I think it's best described as teen boy humor. And it has a tendency to objectify its female characters, as you'll quickly parse out from the one cover I used here or if you browse more covers.
But still, it holds a special place in my heart, I guess. And on my shelves.
The sequel series, Lanfeust des Etoiles, turns it into a space opera, and goes a little overboard with the pop culture reference at times, though overall still maintains that balance of serious/at times dark story and lighthearted comedy.
After that the franchise is utter chaos to me, and I've lost track. I know there was another sequel series, which I dropped partway through, and a spinoff that retold part of the original series from the PoV of the main love interest (in the period of time she spent away from the main group). There was a comedy spin-off about the troll species unique to this world, a prequel series, probably more I don't even know exist.
Les Démons d'Alexia
Tumblr media
Something I can probably be a little less ashamed of including here.
Some backstory here. The Editions Dupuis are a giant of the Belgian bande dessinée industry, and for many, many years I was subscribed to their weekly magazine. That magazine was (mostly) made up of excerpts from the various books that the éditions were publishing at the time; those that were made of comic strips would usually get a couple pages of individual scripts, while the ongoing narratives got cut into episodes that were a few pages long (out of a typical 48 page count for a single BD album). Among those were this series.
For the first few volumes, I wasn't super into this series, probably because I was a little too young and smack dab in the middle of my "trying to be one of the boys" phase. But around book 3 I got really invested, to the point where I own the second half of the series because I had canceled by subscription by then but still wanted to know more.
Alexia is an exorcist with unusual talents, but little control, who's introduced to a group that specializes in researching paranormal phenomena, solving cases that involve the paranormal, that kinda stuff.
As a result of the premise, the series has a pretty slow start since it has to build up mystery around the source of Alexia's powers, but once it gets going and we get to what is essentially the series' main conflict, it gets really interesting.
Plus, witches. I'm a simple gay who likes strong protagonists and witches.
Tumblr media
Murena
Tumblr media
There was a point where my mtyhology nerdery led me to look for more stuff about the historical cultures that created them, and so I'd be super into stuff set in ancient Rome (I'd say "or Greece or Egypt" but let's face it, it was almost always Rome).
Murena is a series set just before the start of Emperor Nero's rule. You know, the one who was emperor when Rome burned, and according to urban legend either caused the fire or played the fiddle while it did (note: "fiddle" is a very English saying, it's usually the lyre in other languages). He probably didn't, it probably was propaganda, but he was a) a Roman Emperor, none of whom were particularly stellar guys and b) mean to Christians, who eventually got to rewrite history. So he's got a bad rep.
The series goes for a very historical take on events, albeit fictionalized (the protagonist and main PoV, the titular Lucius Murena, is himself fictional) and attempts to humanize the people involved in those events. Each book also includes some of the sources used to justify how events and characters are depicted, which is a nice touch.
It's also divided in subseries called "cycles" (books 1-4, 5-8 and the ongoing one starts at 9). I stopped after 9, though I think it's mostly a case of not going to bookstores often anymore. Plus it took four years between 9 and 10, and again between 10 and 11. But the first eight books made for a pretty solid story that honestly felt somewhat concluded as is, so it's a good place to start.

✭ Sorry for not posting in a while, I’ve been having some trouble sleeping and keeping my emotions cool so it’s been kinda hard to stay focused on here - but I hope this small fic will cure your boredom while I finish up my other ones! (I actually got my inspiration from Yagami Yato’s sleep aids - which I use, btw - when Bakugou said “quit tickling me” in his sleep. I thought it was cute as hell.) (I’ve also been really sick. Lovely. >~<)
✭The art belongs to Calys_Artsy_Side on the My Hero Academia Amino - all credit goes to them!
——————————————————————————
Title: “Sleepy.”
Pairing: Kiribaku + Midoryia.
Summary: Bakugou is tired, Kirishima just wants his friend to not fail, and Midoryia is trying to keep the situation under control. ..what a strange way to start off the morning.
Warnings: Other than swearing, none.
——————————————————————————
“Oi, Bakugou.”
Bakugou looked up with a blank face - dark eye bags shadowed his eyes, and he really wasn’t looking so good. That being said, with the events of yesterday, of course he looked like that. Not only did he have to train at his agency, the people at U.A thought it was a good idea for him to take care of a class of kids, along with Icy Hot and a few bastards from Shiketsu. All he wanted was to go to sleep - but it was 10 am on a Monday morning, of course, and he couldn’t afford to get left behind by his classmates. But the more and more he thought about wanting to lie his head on his pillow and relax, the more it all seemed to be coming true.
Resting his head on his desk, the blonde closed his eyes, watching himself drift into a very peaceful sleep. His arms wrapped around themselves, giving him access to a make-shift sort of resting place - and just like that, he was off in his own little world. “Bakugo,” Kirishima whispered, leaning down to check if he was actually awake. Giving him two small pokes to his cheek, the red-head sighed softly. What was he going to do with him? He had a rough day, sure, but didn’t they all? It had messed up his sleeping schedule, to be fair, and it was immediately showing. “Oi, Bakugou.”
Kirishima couldn’t help but wonder why he was the only one to notice the angry loud blonde was finally quiet - it should surprise everyone, not just him. What to do, what to do, Kirishima thought as he pondered everything he could do to wake him up. Then it clicked. “Hey, Midoryia,” he whispered, watching the green haired boy turn his way. “Look.” He said, pointing to the knocked out boy on his desk. Midoryia immediately put a hand over his mouth, almost as if he was in shock - “I haven’t seen Kacchan sleep in class since he was a elementary schooler, more or less before he got his quirk. Was yesterday really that hard for him?”
Kirishima shrugged. “I’m not sure, but I need a way to wake him up-“
They were both surprised when Bakugou shifted to side, his light snores being drowned out by the random words that he was saying. ... Bakugou was a sleep-talker, they both realized and before they could say anymore, the words “quit tickling me” flew out of his mouth. No one knew why he had said it, then again, the only one who really heard it was Kirishima seeing as they were so close. “Midoryia...” he said, looking over with almost a sadistic grin. “Prepare the class for an explosion.”
“Eijirou, what are you doing-?! Wait!”
Before he could be stopped, Kirishima already had his hands under his arms, digging into the soft and sensitive flesh underneath. Bakugou immediately woke up, his eyes widened in surprise as he jerked harshly, falling off the chair. Red-faced and slightly in pain from the impact of falling out of the chair, he had no time to react when his best friend pounced on him, immediately trying to dig his hands into his sensitive skin. “S-STOP! K-KIRISHIMA, WHAT... A-ARE YOU DOING?!” Katsuki yelled as he grabbed both of his hands, trying to keep them from touching him.
“You’re the one who fell asleep! You’re always saying ‘I can’t afford to be left behind’. So don’t fall asleep! And I know just how to wake you up!” At this point, the whole class was watching in awe - and Aizawa wanted nothing to do with it, so like always, he creeped into his sleeping bag and used this time to get in a nap.
“THAT DOESN’T MEAN-!” Katsuki’s words left his mouth as Kirishima hardened his arms, watching the strength leave his body - because of being tired and because of his overwhelming power. When two sets of hands immediately dived in on his sides, he couldn’t hold back the uncontrollable laughter that was threatening to spill from the start.
“WAIHAHAHAT! KIHIHIHIRISHIMA! YOHOHOHU BIHIHIHITCH! IHIHIHLL KIHIHIHIHLL YOHOHOHOU!” All of that only fell on deaf ears - Kirishima knew he wasn’t going to kill him. In fact, he’d probably would forget about it. His laughter was very deep, and if he wasn’t a complete asshole, most of the class would agree that his laugh sounded very attractive. Desperately squirming underneath his friend, he tried his hardest to push him off. The only person who knew that he was ticklish other than his family was Midoryia from when they were younger, so Bakugou thought that he might have told him as a way to wake him up.
“Kirishima, you might want to stop...” Midoryia warned as he looked at his explosive friend’s hands, noticing that they were activating on their own. “...Kacchan can’t control his quirk when he’s getting tickled. He might accidentally blow up the room.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Kirishima said as he shifted downwards, watching his hand brush against the blonde’s thigh. The squeak that left his mouth could only be described as unmanly and very high-pitched. The whole class stared at Bakugou, who was now bright red. “W-What?! Is there a p-probl- AHAHAHAHA WAIHIHIHIT! KIHIHIHIRISHIMA!”
“Awww, sweet little explosion boy getting taken down a peg by a few tickles~? How embarrassing~.” The last part was whispered in his ear, to not completely ruin his reputation. To Bakugou, this was just torture - undignified torture and he needed it to stop, or else he might just do what Midoryia said and blow up the entire room. “EIHIHIHIJIROU!! STAHAHAHAHAHAP!!” Katsuki blurted out, unaware that he said Kirishima’s first name. Hearing his name being called out like that made him stop his assault. There was nothing to it - he didn’t mind being called Eijirou - it’s just... it felt different when Bakugou said it. He couldn’t quite find a word for it. Katsuki took this time and kicked him off, as harshly as possible since he was still hardened, and stood up. The blonde was still shivering at the sensations, everyone noticed.
“Thank you,” Katsuki mumbled in his ear, still a bright red as he picked up his pencil and started writing again. Everyone seemed to go back to the lesson, and Aizawa had already gotten back up from his nap - it was still a surprise how he even napped through that. “You’re welcome,” Kirishima whispered back softly, watching his face turn into a pouty scowl. He could only chuckle at that. “Just you wait, I’ll get you back. When? You’ll never know.” The laugh that came out of Katsuki almost sounded sadistic, but he only scoffed.
“Try your best, Lord Explosion Murder.”

Chuckin’ a ⭐️ your way.
Sorry this took so long to answer! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share or not, but then I realized VARIABLES is never going to get to this point anyway (though I’m halfway done with chapter six) so I might as well write out my thoughts and send them off into the universe.
That being said - this is more of a 1,350 word abridged and super self-indulgent ending than a “Director’s Cut”.
Jim goes into the Darklands months after he does in canon; thus, Gunmar doesn’t take over Trollmarket until Barbara is near the end of her pregnancy. And, unfortunately, she happens to be in the middle of an appointment with Vendel (who does not die) when the coup takes place. She’s recognized immediately as the Trollhunter’s mother and is taken captive after Otto tells Gunmar that Morgana would be most interested in a human/changeling hybrid. Gunmar considers it for a moment, and then appoints the poor polymorph as Barbara’s keeper. Which is how she’s able to stay healthy(-ish) throughout her imprisonment.
Fast forward a couple weeks, and Morgana is finally freed. One of her first orders of business is to go goad the Trollhunter’s incarcerated mother. She walks into the medical dwelling (where Barbara has been kept), monologuing, and then freezes.
“Gwen?”
“Uhhh… No. My name is Barbara Lake.”
But Morgana is convinced Barbara is the reincarnation of her long-lost love (I think they used the same character model, so that’s what this is based on) and decides that, as the mother of all changelings and Gwen’s lover, she’s entitled to keep/raise this baby.
Meanwhile…
Team Trollhunter is freaking the fuck out.
Especially when they’re in the middle of planning a rescue and Strickler’s face suddenly scrunches, and - oh, holy shit - the baby’s coming. There’s a fun scene in which Strickler is in absolute agony and, somehow, Toby winds up holding his hand.
“Omigosh! Breathe, Strickler! Breathe! You’re having a baby!”
“Do I look like I have the equipment to give birth, Domzalski? Fuck off!”
“I’m hurt, Strickler. Wounded.”
Abruptly, all the pain stops.
But then a feeling of fear, and exhaustion, and unparalleled love overwhelms him as the bond moves from a physical connection to an emotional one.
“It’s too late,” he says. “We’re too late.”
They’re not too late, and within twenty-four hours they (Strickler, Claire, and Aaarrrgghh) manage to infiltrate Trollmarket. Strickler finds Barbara. They have a very panicked reunion - “Oh my. That’s  my daughter, and I’m so happy but we must get you out of here right fucking now.” - before Claire portals them to the hospital, where Nik and a very specifically picked team are not-so-patiently waiting.
Morgana is pissed.
Anyway. There are a few complications but, ultimately, both mom and baby are okay. Barbara is sedated to help her heal (which is probably not something that happens irl, but let’s pretend - ok?), so Strickler is able to get some good bonding time in with his daughter while trying to keep up with Jim’s persistent, panicked texts.
At one point, Nik tells Strickler to go home for a few hours. He does, but only stays long enough to shower and pack a bag before heading back to the hospital - with Jim in tow. There’s a lovely brother/sister moment, and then Barbara wakes up and there’s an even lovelier brother/sister/mom/dad moment.
Jim goes home and instantly agrees to Merlin’s terms, while Strickler tries to talk Barbara into leaving town with the baby. She’s not having it. At all.
“Have you forgotten I’m the one person Morgana wants alive?”
Toby texts later that evening to see if they’ve heard from Jim. Barbara freaks and Strickler goes to join in the search for him. It’s a very tense day, followed by a very tense evening and a super awkward conversation in Barbara’s hospital room at 3 am wherein Jim starts gnawing absently on a stethoscope.
All this happens while Morgana is plotting out how best to bring forth the Eternal Night, betray Gunmar, and get her little ‘family’ back. She summons Otto (the changelings aren’t slaughtered, btw, and some of them are pretty sympathetic toward Strickler after seeing him around town actually living what they thought was only a fantasy life) and instructs him to kidnap the baby.
“You want me to… to steal Stricklander’s daughter?”
“Were you not listening? No, I want you to bring me the child that is rightfully mine. Her mother will surely follow.”
He’s hesitant but goes to do as he’s told.
Only, he doesn’t get a very good look at Nik when they pass in the hallway and winds up getting a few of his features wrong. Which probably wouldn’t matter if he were trying to trick anyone else, but Barbara and Nik have known each other since 8th grade and she calls him out almost immediately.
“You’re the polymorph. Otto, right? Walt’s told me so much about you.”
“He has?”
“Of course. He said you two used to be close - like brothers. In my book, that makes you family. Would you like to meet your niece?”
And, just like that, the Lake’s adopt another changeling.
Something Strickler is most skeptical of when he returns to the hospital a few hours later to find them chatting about some dumb stunt he’d pulled back in the early 1600’s. Nomura meets up with them, too, and the four manage to hash out a stupid, harebrained scheme to keep Morgana distracted up to, and during, the final showdown with Jim.
(I haven’t quite thought out all the specifics yet, but the plan includes Nomura in a glamour mask and Otto squeezing into a teeny, tiny little shape - so, you can guess where that’s going)
Anyway.
Barbara and baby are released from the hospital after three nights (might be two, idk, we’re playing fast and loose with the timeline here). They get home, entertain a few unexpected guests, host some impromptu strategy sessions, and then settle in for a small family meal that Strickler prepares in the hopes of bridging the gap from Jim’s old human palette to his new troll one. It goes over way better than canon, that’s for sure.
Later, after Jim has left to prepare for battle and the baby is finally down, a teary-eyed Barbara asks Strickler if he’s willing to stay with her that night. He jumps at the chance, because…
They still aren’t together.
They’ve ‘shared a bed’ once or twice since he moved in, but those were moments of passion and need that had only ever manifested into miscommunication and more. mcfreaking. yearning.
(They were roommates, anyone?)
And now? Well, this is definitely one of those moments. But with sex off the table, and a newborn two feet away, and the end of the world looming - maybe he should just tell Barbara how he feels about her?
“If something happens and I don’t come home tomorrow, I need you to know… My feelings for you haven’t changed. I’m still hopelessly in love with you.”
Of course, she feels the same.
Vows are made, kisses are exchanged, and they manage to get a few hours of rest before their daughter starts grumbling in her sleep.
The next day dawns bright and beautiful, and before Strickler leaves for battle Barbara wishes him good luck. He kisses her, then the baby, and says:
“This is all the luck I need.”
Or something like that.
(Because I think this kid’s name is Felicity [meaning ‘happiness’, and derived from felicitas meaning ‘luck, good fortune’]? Though, I might have just left it as Rory for consistency’s sake. Fun Fact: Rory is short for Aurora [Goddess of the Dawn], which I thought was a fitting name for a changeling to give their daughter.)
Ok, back to the story.
Everything, surprisingly, goes according to plan. Morgana is sufficiently distracted by Merlin and Aaarrrgghh, then by Otto and Nomura long enough for Jim to vanquish the Skullcrusher once and for all. But then she catches a whiff of the changeling magic surrounding Otto and Nomura. Everything sorta goes to hell after that.
True to canon, however, Team Trollhunter wins in the end by trapping Morgana in the Shadow Realm.
But only after Strickler sacrifices himself to save Jim’s life.
Joking.
They all live happily ever after.
(Until, ignoring Wizards altogether, Morgana breaks free a few years later and kidnaps the one changeling who isn’t a product of her magic, and is thus impervious to her mind control. Hijinks ensue. Morgana is rather pleased when the kid’s parents show up to rescue her.)

Musical Monday - 15.02.21
Tumblr media
-> @siriusly-harry asked: Harry styles fine line & Harry Potter :) <3
Tumblr media
Tastes like strawberries On a summer evenin' And it sounds just like a song I want more berries And that summer feelin' It's so wonderful and warm
Some of Harry’s best memories are from summer afternoons spent at the Burrow. Part of the reason why is because he’s been welcomed in a loud but loving household, giving him a sense of family he’d never felt before those summer afternoons. The other reason is Ginny. She’s so cool, and thrilling. She’s the sun setting, leaving behind a trail of pink and orange. She’s the smell of fresh lemonade and grass. She emits a brilliant warmth and he can’t get enough of it.
Tumblr media
I don't wanna be alone When it ends Don't wanna let you know I don't wanna be alone But I, I can feel it take a hold
Ron has always loved Hermione, just like she’s always loved him. However, it’s much easier to ignore the feeling rather than embrace it. Love is scary because when you care about something, it makes it that much harder to lose. It takes a lot of time and many battles, but Ron finally ends up understanding that that fear is precisely why he should go back to her. She’s a beacon of light guiding him, and he knows he can face anything if he’s by her side.
Tumblr media
Walk in your rainbow paradise  Strawberry lipstick state of mind  I get so lost inside your eyes Would you believe it?
Luna is a dreamer. Life is filled with tiny little delights and noticing them is in her nature. She falls in love with every wondrous thing that crosses her path. She has the very rare talent of seeing something special in anything and everything. Luna is essentially exactly like the pink sunglasses she wears; you slip them on and everything comes in bursts of colour. Anyone would be blind not to see rainbows when catching the gleam in her eye.

Sunflowers Sometimes Keep it sweet in your memory I was just tongue-tied, I don't wanna make you feel bad But I've been trying hard not to talk to you Sunflower
Bravery is one of Neville’s best qualities. He’s fundamentally good and more than willing to prove himself in times of turmoil. He’s a fierce friend and a loyal protector. Because he is human, he also has his weaknesses, the biggest one being himself. He has so much love to give, but the fear of being rejected makes him retreat slowly when that special someone approaches him. He trips over his words, and loses all control, but it all comes from a place of insecurity. He knows it is brave to stand up for his loved ones, but he has yet to learn that sometimes it takes even more courage to stand up for yourself. He’s getting there.

Forget what I said It's not what I meant And I can't take it back I can't unpack the baggage you left. What am I now? What am I now? What if I'm someone I don't want around?
Love has made Cho suffer more than most, especially at such a young age. She’s in a constant state of inner conflict, like she’s at war with herself. She doesn’t know if her feelings are valid, or whether or not they make her a bad person. It’s not easy losing someone you love, but letting yourself move on is even harder. Cho has said things she regrets to the people she cares about, and she wonders if she’ll ever be able to take those words back. What she fails to realise is that she is strong enough to rebuild what’s been broken, and her grief doesn’t make her damaged or unworthy. She will find love again.

Fred is impulsive and his emotions often cloud his judgment. He’s passionate and cocky, he’s the definition of a playful smirk, but his pride gets in the way when he’s upset about something. It makes it very difficult for him to apologise to the people he cares about, even when he knows he’s in the wrong. However his qualities outweigh his flaws, and because he is a good person at heart, he knows when to give the other person space and time. Even though he's too proud to admit just yet, he’ll always be there.

George and Lee have always been mates, friends, companions, partners, but there’s always been something more, tucked away safely between bright red bed covers and tentative fingers. It’s a rare feeling, hiding in plain sight, but it makes the lines blur and spill into a pool of uncertainty. What these young lovers have yet to learn is that affection as pure as the one they share deserves to grow out in the open. It isn’t wrong, thus it shouldn’t have to be treated like a shameful little secret. Both boys deserve honesty and clarity, but more importantly, they both deserve happiness together.

Draco is searching for something. He’s always felt lost, drifting in his family’s direction because that seems like the easiest way to go. As he grows, he starts to realise that this way might seem easier, but it isn’t in the slightest. He dreams of something better, another path he could choose, where he would eventually meet someone who sees him for the man he wants to be. In order for that to happen, he needs to let go of his family’s expectations, and he needs to work on himself. He needs to repair the damage he has caused, and find it in within himself to become a better man. No one can do that for him.

Hi! Are you still taking levihan prompts? If so, I have 2 that you can pick from: 1. Anastasia AU 2. Despicable me AU (mostly from the 2nd movie). Idk why but I can see them in both AU's lol! You don't have to both btw
i decided to go with Anastasia, ‘cause i loved this movie so much as a kid! hope you enjoy my fic as well!
“I’m fucking sick of it.” Levi declared, looking at another ‘Princess’. “Just look at her, Erwin!” he gestured to the woman on stage, who was currently reciting all of Czar’s relatives. “She looks nothing like the Princess Hanna! She’s blonde for fuck’s sake!”
“We can always get her a wig.” Erwin noted with a smile.
“Her eyes are green.” Levi hissed.
Erwin chuckled, rising his hands in placating gesture. “Fine, fine. Maybe, you’re right and she doesn’t look like our Princess, but we can’t just give up.”
“We’ve been doing this for three weeks now! And in all that time we haven’t seen at least one girl, who resembles a Princess.”
“Maybe, I should get you a wig?” Erwin asked, smirking. “You’ll make a great Princess, Levi. I’ve heard that all Princesses are extremely whimsical.”
Levi gave him a flat look. “Very funny, Erwin.”
“Mm, you’re right once again. No one could mistake you for a member of Zoe family. You are too short for that.”
“Continue with those shitty jokes, and I’ll walk out of here, Erwin. And I won’t come back.”
“We both know you’re lying.” Erwin briefly glanced at the woman, who was still standing on a stage. Giving her a charming smile, he dismissed her with a wave of his hand. Then he returned his attention to Levi. “I’m your friend, Levi, and possibly the only person who can tolerate your constant bitching. Besides, if we manage to find a Princess, we’ll be rich! Just think about that!”
“It’s the only reason why I’m still here.” Levi replied, making a face. Sighing, he rose to his feet. “I’ll go and make some dinner. You can continue with your fruitless search, I’m done with it for today.”
Levi walked out of the theater, and headed to the other part of the palace. The palace corridors were icy cold at this time of year, and Levi wrapped his coat tighter around himself. He hated the cold, but it was still better than living on the street. Erwin and he were lucky to find the palace unoccupied.
As he made his way through the halls, Levi heard a strange sound. Someone was talking. Someone, whose voice didn’t sound like Erwin’s.
Levi took out his trusty knife and slowly followed the voice. It sounded closer and closer, until Levi stopped in front of giant doors.
The doors looked dirty, the gorgeous gold color from before now faded. Behind them was a giant ballroom. Levi remembered it as a grant, beautiful place. It was spacious and bright, almost every surface sparkling in the warm candlelight. But now it was grim, dark and covered with cobwebs. Nothing lasts forever, Levi mused before slowly and quietly opening the door.
As he entered, he immediately saw two figures, standing on the other side of the room. They didn’t even notice Levi’s arrival, as they stood with their backs to him, loudly arguing about something.
Well, Levi didn’t care what they were doing here. Or who they were. He lived here, and that meant that they had to leave.
“Oi!” Levi raised his voice to get their attention. “Who the fuck are you?”
The two figures span around, staring at Levi in surprise.
And as Levi studied their faces, as he looked closely at the woman in front of him, his breath hitched in his throat.
She looked so much like her.
That woman resembled Princess Hanna almost uncannily. She was older, of course, and wore a pair of round glasses, but she looked just like the lost member of the royal family. She looked just like the girl Levi had saved all those years ago.
The woman was saying something, as Levi saw her lips move but couldn’t hear what she was saying. His mind was reeling, his thoughts were in frenzy.
“Erwin!” Levi suddenly shouted.
The woman and the man, who stood beside her, stared at Levi with wide eyes. But he didn’t say anything, waiting to hear the sounds of Erwin’s heavy and hurried steps.
A moment later he walked in, coming to stand next to Levi.
“We have guests?” Erwin asked with a surprised smile.
“Erwin,” Levi tugged at his sleeve. “Look at her.”
And without saying anything else, Erwin did. Levi watched, how Erwin’s eyes focused on the woman’s face and then quickly darted behind her, to the portrait of a royal family.
“Oh,” Erwin breathed out. “Oh.” He repeated, still shocked.
He recovered almost immediately, as he took a step closer, a charming smile appearing on his lips.
“Good evening, my lady,” he took the woman by the hand, kissing her palm. “May I know your name?”
“Hange…” the woman said slowly, eyeing both Levi and Erwin with suspicion.
“Just Hange?”
The woman scratched her head, looking away. “I don’t know my last name.”
“Interesting,” Erwin rubbed his chin. “Well, my name is Erwin Smith, and that is my friend, Levi Ackerman.”
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Levi asked, glaring furiously at the newcomers.
“We were just passing by!” Hange hurried to explain, her eyes darting nervously from Erwin’s sweet smile to Levi’s hard face. “My friend Moblit and I,” she gestured to the man with chestnut hair, who was standing behind her. “We’ve heard that there lives a man, who knows how to forge documents.” She smiled a little sheepishly. “And we need them to go to Paris.”
“Paris?” Erwin’s smile became a lot wider. “What a coincidence! My friend and I are planning to go there as well. If you wish, we can accompany you.”
“I…” Hange looked at her friend, and they seemed to have a silent conversation. “What will it cost us?”
Erwin’s eyes glinted almost wickedly. “Before I answer your question, will you answer mine, please?”
“Alright…” Hange nodded, looking even more wary than before.
“This may sound weird, but do you know your family?”
“My family died.” Hange replied in a strange, detached voice. “Or they left me. I don’t really know. All I have is this thing,” she showed Erwin and Levi her necklace. “It says ‘together in Paris’. I don’t know what exactly this means, but I’m determined to find out.”
Erwin nodded and came to stand next to Hange, wrapping his hands around her shoulders and spinning her around.
“Do you see this girl, Hange?” he gestured to the smallest member of Zoe family. “Don’t you think she looks just like you?”
“You’re joking.” Hange scoffed, although her eyes didn’t leave the portrait and her hand was clutching the necklace tightly.
“I am not,” Erwin assured her in a calm, deep voice. “It is known that Princess Hanna was the only one of Zoe family, who managed to escape from the revolutionaries. And if you don’t remember your parents, you might as well be the long lost Princess. Princess’ grandmother, Empress Olga, lives in Paris now, why don’t you come with us and pay her a visit? It may be your chance to find out about your past.”
“To find out about my past…” Hange whispered in daze. “I always wanted to do that.”
She continued to stare at the portrait for another moment, and then she turned around, looking intently at Erwin and Levi.
“Do you really think it’s possible that I can be Princess Hanna?”
“I’m sure of it.” Erwin gave her another smile.
“And you?” Hange came to stand in front of Levi, her eyes boring into his. “Do you also think I’m a Princess?”
“You look like a dirty tramp and you reek like a wet dog.” Levi told her, crossing his hands on his chest. Erwin elbowed him in the side, whispering him to shut up, but Levi paid him no mind, keeping the entirety of his attention on the woman in front of him. “But I’ve seen hundreds of Russian girls, who have claimed to be a Princess. And no one resembled Princess Hanna like you do.”
Hange stared at Levi for a long moment. To his surprise, she didn’t seem to be offended by his words. On the contrary, her lips curved into a small, but amused smile.
“Alright then,” Hange declared, still gazing at Levi. “I’ll come with you.”
“Excellent!” Erwin straightened out, giving Hange another brilliant smile. “Then pack your suitcases, Princess. Paris is waiting for us!”
***
As he sat next to her on the train, Levi couldn’t stop glaring at Hange. The speck of dirt on her left cheek irritated him. His hands twitched with desire to tell her to wipe that shit off her face, but he promised Erwin he’d behave around her.
Still, the more he looked at it, the angrier Levi became.
Another ten minutes passed by with Levi’s gaze still focused on Hange. Erwin and Princess’ friend Moblit began to give Levi weird looks, but Levi ignored them. In return, Hange ignored him. She either didn’t notice his intense stare, or just didn’t care about it.
Another ten minutes, and Levi had enough.
He swiftly took the handkerchief out of his pocket and threw it at Hange. It landed right on her face.
She slowly lifted the white cloth and gave Levi a questioning look.
“Your face is fucking dirty, four-eyes,” Levi growled. He instantly wanted to smack himself – he promised to be polite and considerate around Hange, so she would get used to her role as a Princess. But her sloppiness pissed Levi off so much!
Another thing that pissed off Levi was her constant carelessness and her inability to take anything, and especially him, seriously. Even now she was giggling at Levi’s annoyed face, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
“And clean your glasses, for fuck’s sake,” he added, looking at her with disgust.
“Yes, sir!” Hange stuck her tongue at him and then burst out laughing.
Levi’s eye began to twitch. “Can you stop behaving like a child for at least a moment? And can you stop slouching in your sit? Princesses don’t sit like that!”
“And you know a lot about Princesses?” Hange asked. The stupid amused expression was still plastered on her face.
“More than you do.”
“But you do believe that I am a Princess, right?” Hange’s eyes glinted with mischief.
“Of course.”
“Then stop bossing me around!” she exclaimed.
In the sit across from Levi, Erwin chuckled. When Levi turned his gaze to Moblit, he saw that he too was hiding a smile behind his palm.
Fucking assholes.
Levi swiftly rose to his feet, heading out of the train cabin. He needed to get some fresh air. And get away from Hange. The smug grin on her lips made Levi’s blood boil.
***
Levi slowly made his way through the train. Almost everyone he passed through was busy checking their documents, making sure that the Inspector wouldn’t find anything suspicious.
Levi briefly glanced at the passengers’ passports. They were red. But as he walked out of the cabin, he was sure that Erwin held blue passports in his hands.
Shit!
Levi returned to their cabin as swiftly as he could without raising any suspicions.
“Erwin!” Levi said breathlessly, as he tumbled inside the cabin. “Everyone has red passports!”
Erwin looked at the passport in his hand and then back at Levi. “Shit.” He said quietly, but with feeling. Levi couldn’t agree more.
“Is something wrong?” Hange asked, fixing the glasses on her face. Levi was relieved to see that she had cleaned them. Small mercies and all that shit. “I thought you were good at forging documents.”
Erwin gave her a tight-lipped smile. “We are, but we mostly specialize on Russian documents. French passports are, sadly, not my area of expertise.”
“We need to run.” Levi urged, getting his suitcase. “If the Inspector sees us…”
“Yeah, I know,” Erwin nervously ran a hand through his hair. “Take Hange and go, Levi. Moblit and I will follow you.”
“Roger.” Levi nodded, grabbing Hange’s hand and yanking her up. “Let’s go, four-eyes. We need to hurry.”
“And where exactly are we going? Where are we going to hide?”
“There isn’t a place on this train, where Inspector wouldn’t look for us. So we have to get off this train.”
“Get off?” Hange’s eyes widened and her brows furrowed. “Do you mean—”
“Yes, we’ll jump off the train,” Levi said impatiently, leading Hange to the most secluded area of the train.
“Jump?!” Hange shrieked. “We can die!”
“Don’t tell me you’re scared, four-eyes.” Levi smirked. “C’mon, get ready.”
He let go of her palm and put his hands on the big metal door. To Hange’s surprise, Levi opened it without much of hassle. He was so short, but his back was wide and his arms were evidently strong.
“On the count of three?” he asked Hange, as he stood on the edge.
“On the count of three.” she agreed. She took a deep breath and then grabbed Levi by the hand.
Levi glanced at their joined hands in surprise, but then nodded, squeezing Hange’s palm.
“Three.” He whispered, jumping and dragging Hange after him.
While they were falling, Levi managed to maneuver himself in a different position. Still holding Hange’s hand, his other arm grabbed her waist, pressing her closer to him. As a result, when they landed, Hange fell on top of him.
“That was awesome!” she exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. Hange’s eyes were practically sparkling with excitement.
All Levi could do was to slightly node. Hange was close, so very close to him, and all thoughts seemed to leave Levi’s head.
“Hange!” Moblit shouted, as soon as he and Erwin landed not far from Levi and Hange. “Are you alright?”
“Of course!” Hange’s voice was loud and cheerful. She briefly glanced back at Levi. “Thanks for being a cushion for me!” she patted his shoulder and winked.
Then she got up and went to Moblit, who continued to fret over her. Levi didn’t know if he should be disappointed or relieved at the loss of warmth Hange’s body was giving him.
Of course, Hange’s clothes were dirty, and she herself was disgusting, but to Levi’s surprise, she didn’t smell as bad as he expected. She actually smelled kind of nice…
Still lying in the snow, Levi shook his head, he was slowly going crazy. Hange’s craziness was probably contagious.
“You seem kind of shaken,” Erwin stood above him, outstretching his hand towards him.
“Hit my head during the fall.” Levi lied, taking the offered hand and hoisting himself up.
Dusting off his snow-covered coat, he looked at the horizon. The train had almost disappeared from the view, leaving a cloud of dust after it.
“What are we going to do next?” Levi asked ignoring Hange’s excited blabbering behind him.
Erwin sighed, rubbing his face tiredly. “If my estimates are correct, we are somewhere in Poland. I guess we can get aboard the ship in Germany.”
“And how will we get there?”
“We can catch a bus in Strasburg. But the road there will be a long one.”
Levi glanced back. Moblit was holding Hange’s face in his hands, inspecting it for signs of injury. Noticing Levi’s stare, Hange stuck her tongue at him again.
Levi sighed, turning to face Erwin again. “Yeah,” he grunted. “The road will be long.”
***
“So?” Levi asked as soon as Erwin walked out of the postman’s office.
Erwin nodded, looking pleased. “It’s all set. Mike is waiting for us and he promised that Nanaba will talk with Empress.”
“What is set?” Hange suddenly appeared behind Levi’s shoulder. “Who is Mike and why is he waiting for us? Who is Nanaba and why does she have to talk with Empress?”
“Mike is my old friend,” Erwin explained with a smile. “His wife Nanaba is Empress’ distant relative. She’ll talk with her and persuade her to see you.”
“Persuade?” Hange’s eyebrows were furrowed in confusion. “But I thought that Empress was already waiting for me?”
Erwin’s warm smile became nervous. He stared at Hange in slight panic, not knowing what to say.
Levi decided to come to his rescue. “Empress doesn’t know about you yet.” He said in his usual bored voice. “But once you convince her that you’re the real Princess Hanna–”
“Convince?” Hange cried out, looking at Erwin and Levi in shock. “Convince?!” she repeated even more outraged. “No one told me I had to convince anyone! I didn’t agree to this!”
“Hange, please—” Erwin tried, but Hange silenced him with one furious look.
“No.” she said sternly, her eyes burning with cold fury. “No, I’m not going to do it.”
She turned around, but Levi grabbed her by the hand. “What the fuck?” he hissed, holding her wrist tightly. “We went so far and now you just want to quit? What the fuck happened?”
“You both lied to me, that’s what happened. I just wanted to find my family, I don’t want to lie to anyone!”
“But that’s not a lie! You’re Princess Hanna!”
Hange let out a merciless laugh. “And who is going to believe me?” she said, spreading her hands out. “You are the one, who always tells me how dirty and messy I am! Empress would never believe that I am a Princess!”
Hange jerkily freed her hand out of Levi’s grasp and started to walk away. And Levi just stared at her retreating back, not knowing what to say or what to do. What Hange just said was true, he did treat her like shit, always calling her names and scolding her. It was his fault that Hange was losing her confidence.
“C’mon, Moblit,” Hange took her friend by the hand, grabbing their suitcase. “We can find some other way to Paris.”
Hange was walking further and further away, but Levi stood still. Erwin moved passed him, giving him a pointed look and hurrying after Hange.
Levi watched how Erwin caught up with Hange and Moblit. He felt like the biggest asshole in the world. But surprisingly he didn’t care about their scheme right now. He wasn’t worried that Hange would walk away and he would lose his money. Instead he felt anger and regret. He was angry at himself for always running his mouth, for never thinking how his cruel words affected other people. He was regretting all the stupid things he had said to upset Hange.
***
“Wait, Hange, please!” breathlessly, Erwin took Hange by the elbow. “Let’s talk.” Erwin tried to use his most charming smile, but Hange wasn’t fazed.
“Are you going to ask me to continue our journey?”
“I’m not.” Erwin promised her seriously. The smile disappeared from his face, and he looked at Hange earnestly. “I just want to tell you something, that’s all. If after our conversation, you still decide to leave, then I’ll accept it.”
Hange gave him a long, critical look. Then she sighed. “Fine, let’s talk.”
“Thank you,” Erwin nodded and linked his hands with Hange. “We won’t be long,” he promised Moblit and started to lead Hange away.
They walked in silence for some time, and Hange was starting to get impatient.
“I thought you wanted to talk,” she reminded when they reached the small bridge.
Erwin gave her an enigmatic smile and came to stand next to the railing. “Come here,” he softly urged.
Hange huffed, annoyed by his strange behavior, but obeyed his request. She stared into the blue water of the lake beneath the bridge, watching her reflection.
“What do you see?” Erwin asked.
“I see you,” Hange grumbled. “And me.”
“Right, but what exactly do you see?”
Hange stared at the surface of the lake. Her expression stared back. Looking at her messy hair, big glasses and dirty clothes, Hange felt anger stir inside her. Levi’s words echoed in her head, as though mocking her.
“I see stupid and naïve girl,” she crossed hands on her chest, glaring at the water. “I see someone without past. And without future.”
Erwin softly chuckled. “Not to agree with Levi, but maybe you really should clean your glasses, Hange. Because I see something different.” he hugged Hange by her shoulders. His reflection in the lake was smiling gently. “I see a woman, whose bravery and kindness can only rival with her intelligence. I see a good, noble person.”
As Hange gave Erwin a sidelong glance, she saw that even though the smile was still present on his lips, his gaze was becoming distant and melancholy.
“You know that I grew up in the palace?” he began slowly. “My parents were a part of the court, and I’ve spent my childhood alongside other nobles. I’ve never met you, of course, I was a bit older after all. But I do remember tales about an insufferable little girl, who was running around the palace and hiding from her nannies.”
Hange didn’t remember that, all she could remember from her childhood was the cold, uncomfortable beds and angry shouts from the governesses in the orphanage. But she could picture what Erwin was talking about quite clearly. And she liked that image. A small, involuntarily smile appeared on her face, as she continued listening to Erwin.
“What I wanted to tell you Hange, was this - I met a lot of nobles in my life, I was surrounded by them, and well,” Erwin shrugged. “Most of them were terrible people. They were cruel and greedy, and they didn’t respect anyone, who was beneath them. But you Hange… you are different. I can see how bright you are, how sympathetic. It might be foolish of me, but when I look at you, I feel like you’re the only true noble I’ve ever met. Maybe you don’t look like a Princess, but it doesn’t matter. I’m sure that once Empress sees you, once she looks into your fierce and clever eyes, she will know that you’re her granddaughter.”
Hange stared at Erwin for a long moment, thinking over everything he just told her. Slowly, a grin appeared on her face.
She slightly nudged Erwin in the side. “You know, with the way you talk, I’m sure you can probably convince Empress that you’re Princess Hanna.” Hange paused, her eyes focusing on her reflection once more. Then she sighed, straightening her shoulders and turning to look Erwin in the eyes. “Alright, you won. Let’s continue our journey.”
“That’s it?” Levi’s voice suddenly came from behind them “Your tantrum is over?”
“No thanks to you,” Erwin pointed out, giving Levi a disappointed glare.
Levi huffed, and Hange could swear that his cheeks had slightly reddened. “I was an asshole.” He said, looking Hange in the eyes. Even though he was embarrassed, he didn’t look away. He wanted Hange to believe in his sincerity.
“Yeah, you were,” Hange easily agreed and Levi was shocked to see a grin on her lips. “But I’m already used to that.” She patted his shoulder, walking past him. “I guess that’s just how you are. So I’m not upset, don’t worry.”
“As if I would worry about something stupid like that,” Levi grumbled. The amused expressions on Erwin and Hange’s faces told him that they could see right through him.
Damn it, Levi cursed, both of them were annoyingly perceptive.
“Alright!” Hange exclaimed, making a wide gesture with her hands. “Gentlemen! Teach me how to be a Princess!”
***
“We are lucky that you’re better at remembering names of Czar’s family then at playing chess,” Erwin chuckled after winning another game with Hange.
She huffed, crossing her hands on her chest. “That’s unfair! I’ve learned the rules just yesterday, of course I’ll bad at it!”
“Believe me, four-eyes,” Levi came to stand beside her. “You can spend years playing chess and you still won’t be able to win against Erwin. He is insanely and annoyingly good at this game.”
Erwin shrugged, grinning slightly. “Do you want to try your luck, Levi?” he gestured at the chess board.
“No thanks,” Levi made a face. “I don’t want to be humiliated.” Then he turned to Hange, passing her a wrapped package. “Besides, I came to give Hange this.”
Hange’s greedy hands immediately began tearing off the wrappings. Finished with them, she took out what was inside and gave it a confused look.
“What’s this?” she asked, cocking her head to the side.
Instead of answering, Levi came closer and snatched the glasses of her face. He directed them to the light, inspecting them. Then he huffed. “Your glasses are surprisingly clean, Hange. Have your eyesight became even shittier? Or have you never seen a dress before?”
“Of course, I have!” Hange protested, pressing the dress to her chest. “But I’ve never wore one.” She whispered, hanging her head.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and put it on.”
When Hange lifted her face, there was a big smile on her lips. She shot up to her feet, briefly hugging Levi. “Thank you!” she shouted right into his ear. She swiftly kissed his cheek and then sprinted off to her cabin.
Levi gingerly touched the place, where Hange had kissed him. The skin there was warm, and even warmer feeling spread across his chest.
Standing with his hand on his cheek and a dumb-struck expression on his face, Levi was sure that he looked like an idiot. “Shut up,” he grumbled, seeing the smirk on Erwin’s face. He sat down heavily next to him. “Let’s play your stupid game.” He added, putting figures in their places.
Hopefully, a chess match with Erwin would give him something else to focus onto and he would forget about Hange’s dumb happy smile or her stupid pretty eyes.
***
Half an hour later, Hange appeared on the deck of a ship, accompanied by Moblit. Levi’s eyes widened as he looked at her.
She was wearing a dress Levi had given her and she let her hair down, the brown locks reached to her shoulders and framed her flushed face. She came to stand in front of Levi and Erwin, nervously smiling at them.
“What do you think?” she asked, tucking a loose lock of her hair behind her ear. “Do I look… acceptable?”
“You look gorgeous.” Erwin replied, standing up and taking Hange by the hand.
Levi couldn’t agree more. When he was a child and lived in a palace with his mother, he oftentimes sneaked into the ballrooms to gawk at all the ladies in beautiful gowns. Their dresses were expansive, their hair was put into complicated hairstyles, and their carefully applied make-up hid every imperfection they had.
Hange looked nothing like them. Standing in her simple purple dress, slightly blushing and shyly smiling, she looked more beautiful than all the ladies, duchesses and princesses Levi had ever seen.
In the meantime, Erwin span Hange around. “You are ready for the ball, Princess.” Erwin said, smiling softly at her.
The blush on Hange’s cheeks intensified. She casted her eyes down, her fingers were fidgeting with the hem of her dress. “Truth be told, I don’t know how to dance…”
“Ah, it’s a problem that can be easily solved.” Still holding Hange’s hand in his, Erwin laid his other arm on Levi’s shoulder. “Because our Levi just so happens to be an incredible dancer! He will teach you everything you need to know!” finished, Erwin let go of them and took a step back.
Hange still looked a bit shy, but she was the first one to make a move. She laid her left hand on Levi’s waist, while her right one took his palm.
Beside them, Erwin chuckled. “While, I agree that the taller person should be the one to lead,” he began, earning a fierce glare from Levi. “But for your first time, I think you should let Levi lead, Hange.”
“Oh,” Hange slowly blinked, changing the position of her hands. “That’s how I should do it?”
Erwin nodded with a smile, and in the next moment, Levi started to slowly move Hange around the deck.
“Relax and follow my lead,” he whispered to Hange, squeezing her hand. “There’s nothing complicated about it.”
Hange nodded slightly, her eyes focused on her toes. Levi tsked.
“I know my face is ugly, but you have to look your partner in the eyes.”
“You’re not ugly!” Hange argued immediately, lifting her face and glaring at Levi. “Maybe, you scowl too much, but it doesn’t make you unpleasant to look at! On the contrary, I like looking at your face.” Hange’s eyes widened as she realized what she had said. “I mean— not that I’m looking at you all the time or something! I just—” Hange’s hand twitched in Levi’s hold, as she wanted to run a hand through her hair. Levi didn’t let her go.
He was sure that his face was as red as Hange’s, but still he tried to keep a straight expression, continuing their dance. “Even with your stupid glasses, I like looking at your face as well.”
Levi cursed at himself, wondering what had possessed him to say those stupid words. However… the smile that appeared on Hange’s face afterwards was kind of worth it. Even if Levi felt like a fucking idiot.
“Thank you for the dress,” Hange whispered. She was still following Levi’s request and looked him straight in the eyes. And Levi stared back, unable to turn away from those warm brown eyes.
“You’re welcome.” Levi whispered back.
“I feel lightheaded,” Hange admitted after Levi had spun her around.
“And your heart is beating fast?” Levi asked.
“Too fast.” Hange agreed.
“I feel the same.” Levi said. He stopped moving, but didn’t let go of Hange and didn’t look away from her face.
“It’s probably from all that dancing,” Hange forced a grin on her face.
Levi nodded. “Maybe, we should stop.”
“But Levi,” Hange looked at him in surprise. “We already did.”
“Hange…” Levi began, staring at her almost desperately. “Hange… I—” he almost did it, almost said those words, almost told Hange how she made him feel. But Levi stopped himself, shaking his head.
What the fuck was he thinking? Hange was a Princess, and a few days later he would get her to Paris and then never see her again. Whatever he thought he was feeling couldn’t be real. He was just being foolish.
“There is nothing I can teach you anymore,” Levi finished, patting Hange’s hand before letting her go. “You won’t look like an idiot on your first ball, so my job is done. I… I need to go.”
And then he left, his heart pounding in his chest. He walked back to his cabin, not even once turning around to look at Hange. He knew that if he looked into her eyes again, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from spilling out the truth about his feelings.
***
Levi motionlessly lay in his bed, staring with unseeing eyes at the ceiling. The evening’s events kept replaying in his head, over and over. He just… he couldn’t understand.
He couldn’t understand what was happening to him, didn’t know what he was feeling and why he was feeling it. Levi had never felt like that, no one had ever made him feel like that. But whenever he was with Hange, something awoke in him. Something that made him feel at ease, that made him almost happy. Something that made him feel alive.
Levi didn’t know the name of this feeling. Or maybe, he did but was afraid to put a name on it. Surely, it couldn’t be that, he couldn’t be in love with Hange. They knew each other for a little more than a week, Levi barely knew her! But he wanted to know more – wanted to know her quirks and habits, her fears and dreams, her thoughts and feelings. Everything. He wanted to know everything about Hange.
And that scared Levi. More than he was willing to admit.
Because Levi didn’t believe in love. His life was full of sorrows and losses, there was no place for feelings and other foolish things. But looking at Hange, staring at her big smile or getting lost in her bright eyes, Levi felt something that dangerously resembled hope, blooming inside his chest.
Hange made him feel… she made him feel, she always managed to elicit some kind of reaction and emotion out of usually stoic Levi. She irritated him with her endless teasing, she amused him with her stupid jokes, and she amazed him with her kindness.
She made him feel other emotions, too. When Levi saw, how Erwin touched her shoulder or held her hand, when he watched, how Hange kissed Moblit on a cheek and hugged him tightly to her chest, a weird, angry feeling arose in Levi. His fists clenched and his mouth formed a hard line.
And whenever Hange touched him, whenever she laid her hand on his shoulder, when she was laughing too hard, or whenever she pressed herself against his side, leaning on him, Levi’s heart began to drum erratically, his breath hitched in his throat, as something warm settled in his chest.
Levi cursed, running a hand through his hair. He was so fucked. Because no matter what he felt for Hange, if it was love or some other dumb shit, the end of their story was near. Hange would go to Paris and she would become a Princess. She would wear fancy dresses and she would attend balls. She would be adored by everyone around her, and men would throw themselves at her feet, asking for a minute of her attention.
There was no place in this world for a scum like Levi. There was no place for him in Hange’s life.
***
Levi woke up with a start. He didn’t notice how he fell asleep, too engrossed in his solemn thoughts.
At first, he couldn’t understand what had woken him up. But then, a moment later, he heard it again – a quiet, muffled sound. Levi instantly became alarmed. He was sure that he was in the room alone, Hange, Moblit and Erwin had decided to join the ship’s crew for a round of drinks. Had they already returned?
The same sound came again, and Levi rose from his bed, trying to look around the dark room. As his eyes adjusted, he saw that the bed on the other side of the cabin was occupied by Hange.
She tossed and turned, sobbing quietly. Levi froze, his eyes wide as he stared at her. Hange was probably having a nightmare, and despite the fact that he frequently suffered from them as well, Levi didn’t know how to help. He looked around the room once more, but there was no sign of Moblit or Erwin. Levi cursed. If Moblit was here, he would know what to do. And Erwin would definitely find the right words to calm Hange down. But they were absent, and that meant that Levi was the one, who had to help Hange.
He slowly approached her, kneeling beside her bed. He looked at her and his heart caught in his throat. Hange’s face was contorted in pain, her cheeks stained with tears.
Levi outstretched his hand, tentatively laying it on Hange’s shoulder. “Oi, Hange,” he slightly shook her. “C’mon, wake up.”
But Hange didn’t seem to hear him, her breath getting more erratic and her sobs becoming louder. “No,” she whispered, furiously shaking her head. “No, no, please don’t leave me!”
Levi’s heart ached, as he watched her struggles. Wrapping his hands around her shoulders, he shook her again, more forceful this time. But still, Hange was unresponsive.
And so Levi decided to try a different approach. With his hands still around her, Levi pressed Hange close to his chest. One of his hands came to rest atop of Hange’s head, as he soothingly patted her hair.
“It’s just a nightmare, Hange,” Levi whispered in the softest voice he could muster. He pressed a gentle kiss on Hange’s sweaty temple. “None of it is real, none of it can really hurt you.”
And, surprisingly, it seemed to work. Soon, Hange’s sobs ceased and Levi felt how her hands fisted in his shirt. She breathed heavily, her whole body moving with excursion.
Finally she raised her head. “Levi?” her eyes were wide as she looked at him. Without her glasses, Hange seemed so young, so innocent and vulnerable.
“You had a nightmare.” Levi answered her unasked question. He still held her in his arms.
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Hange whispered, bowing her head in shame.
“Don’t be.” Levi said rather forcefully. “It happens to anyone, and I’m glad that I managed to help you.”
“Thank you,” Hange softly smiled, and Levi’s heart melted. She was smiling at him, he made her smile like that. “But aren’t you angry? My tears ruined your shirt.”
“It’s fine,” Levi waved his hand, finally letting Hange go. A strange look appeared in her eyes, something that looked a lot like disappointment, but it was gone before Levi could inspect it more closely. “As I said, I was glad to help. You’re a Princess, after all. It’s my duty to help you.”
And now Levi was sure that Hange’s eyes were sad. “Is that everything I am to you?” she whispered. “Just a Princess?”
“It’s everything you should be to me.” Levi retorted, looking away from Hange. Her gaze was making him uncomfortable, it almost made him regret his words. “Go to sleep, Hange.” He sighed, getting to his feet. “Tomorrow is an important day.”
Tomorrow, they would finally arrive to Paris, Levi thought bitterly. Soon he would have to say goodbye to Hange.
***
The next day, Levi, Hange, Erwin and Moblit got off the ship. They stepped on the land and were immediately approached by a man and a woman.
The woman was lean and tall. With her stylish blue dress and short blonde hair, she was unmistakably Parisian. However, the man next to her, a big and wide guy with blonde thick hair and even thicker moustache, was undeniably Russian.
“Oh, god!” the woman exclaimed, as she ran up to Hange. “You look so much like her! You really are Princess Hanna!”
Hange awkwardly scratched her head, shrugging. “Everyone keeps telling me that.” She said with a lopsided grin.
“And they are correct, my dear,” the woman wore a bright smile. She took Hange's hands in hers, squeezing them tightly. “I’m so glad to meet you! And I’m sure Empress will be incredibly happy to see you. She missed you terribly, Hanna.”
Hange smiled at the woman. It looked more than a little forced. “I prefer to be called Hange.”
Even if the woman was taken aback by her words, she didn’t show it. “As you wish. But you need to at least get used to your title. Everyone will call you Princess now.”
Hange’s eyes immediately turned to Levi. She avoided his eyes as soon as their gazes met, but Levi didn’t miss the same hurtful look from yesterday.
“Ah, where are my manners!” the woman clasped her hands together and then outstretched her right one to Hange for a handshake. “I’m Nanaba. And that is my husband Mike.”
Hange smiled, and this time it was sincere. “I’m Hange, and this is my friend Moblit.” She gestured to him.
“Charmed,” Nanaba nodded, shaking Hange’s and Moblit’s hands.
And while Hange shook hands with Mike, Nanaba came to stand next to Erwin.
She grabbed his face and kissed both of his cheeks, smiling from ear to ear. “It’s good to see you again.”
Erwin shared her sentiment, looking just as happy. “I’m glad to be here as well, Nanaba. You look more beautiful with each day.”
Nanaba shook her head, chuckling. “You never change, Erwin.”
Then she turned to Levi, although she didn’t greet him the way she did Erwin. “It’s nice to see you, too, Levi.”
Levi nodded slightly. “I’m glad to know you’re doing alright.”
A moment later, Mike walked up to Erwin. He enveloped him in a tight, suffocating hug. “It’s been too long, my friend.” he said with feeling.
Erwin chuckled, hugging Mike just as tightly. “I missed you, too.”
As he let Erwin go, a big smile curved Mike’s lips. It disappeared as soon as he laid his eyes on Levi. “Ackerman.” He said. All the warmth in his voice was gone.
“Zacharius.” Levi replied in the same manner.
“Are they going to fight?” Hange asked Erwin, watching the scene with great interest.
“They did, a few times.” Hange was surprised by Erwin’s nonchalant tone. Her eyes widened as she saw that Mike’s face broke into a wide grin. He ruffled Levi’s hair, laughing heartily. “I see you still haven’t grown up.”
“Shut up, you ugly giant,” Levi made a face. “And get your dirty hands off me!”
Mike started to laugh even harder, and soon everyone joined him. Everyone, except Levi, who was glaring at them.
“So…” Hange began uncertainly with her hands behind her back. “When I will meet Empress?”
“This evening,” Nanaba promised. “She will attend a play in the theater and I’ll introduce you to each other. Before that, we need to get you a dress. This one is pretty,” she nodded at Hange’s purple dress. “But you need something fancier.”
“Oh, alright. Of course.”
“Great!” Nanaba smiled once more, linking her hands with Hange. “Then let’s go shopping!”
***
Hange threw the curtain open, revealing yet another outfit to her audience. She grinned, spinning around to give them a better look. However, as she stopped, she was surprised to find out that almost everyone was gone. Only Levi remained in his seat.
“Eh?” her brows furrowed in confusion. “Where are the others?”
“They went to grab a lunch,” Levi said as he came up to Hange. “I have a more pressing question, though. Where the fuck have you found this monstrosity?” he stared displeasingly at Hange’s bright dress. “This thing looks like someone had eaten the rainbow and then vomited it all over the fabric.”
Levi’s colorful description sent Hange into a fit of giggles. She clutched her stomach, laughing even harder. Levi tsked, although his eyes were full of amusement, as he gazed at Hange.
“C’mon,” he softly shoved her back into the dressing room. “Take off this ugly dress, I’ll look for something… more presentable.”
Still chuckling, Hange nodded and disappeared behind the curtain. She was angry at Levi before, and more than angry, she was hurt, but their easy banter made her forget about yesterday’s conversation.  She could almost pretend that everything was fine. That Levi and her were friends.
Five minutes later, Levi touched the side of the curtain. “Here,” he passed her a dress. “Try this.”
Hange looked at the dress in her hands. A smile appeared on her face, as she admired its bright yellow color. Her favorite.
She swiftly put it on and walked out of the dressing room, looking a bit shy. She still felt uncomfortable while wearing a dress.
“Yes,” Levi said in a strange, almost breathless voice. “We should take this one.”
Hange turned to the mirror, studying her reflection. The dress wasn’t long, reaching to her knees and showing off her long and slender legs, it wasn’t tight either, but it followed every curve of her body, accentuating her slim waist. The bright yellow color contrasted with Hange’s tan skin.
“Do I look pretty?” Hange grinned, looking at Levi in the mirror.
“You look beautiful.” Levi told her seriously, staring right into her reflection’s eyes. Hange felt her cheeks reddened, but she couldn’t look away from Levi’s eyes, which looked at her so intently.
“Alright,” she said, shaking her head and looking away. “Let’s take this one then.”
“Get changed and let’s meet with the others. They’re waiting for us at the café.”
***
“Hange, this dress is marvelous!” Nanaba admired the fabric in her hands. “You have an excellent taste!”
“Ah, I wasn’t the one who chose it. Levi did,” Hange said, grinning at him.
“Really?” Mike raised his eyebrow. “Levi, I didn’t know you like fashion so much.”
“This is your last warning, Mike,” Levi growled. “Shut the fuck up.”
Unfortunately, Mike didn’t seem intimidated. He just chuckled, sharing a long and knowing look with Erwin.
“Hange,” Nanaba called, unexpectedly serious. She took Hange’s hand in hers. “I need to ask you something. I believe you really are Princess Hanna, but I just want to make sure.”
“Of course.” Hange smiled, trying to hide her nervousness.
“Do you… do you remember the night of the attack?”
“I remember a ball,” Hange slowly began, staring into her cup of coffee. Nanaba slightly nodded – everyone knew that revolutionaries attacked the Winter Palace during a noble’s festivities. “I remember there were screams and sounds of gunshots, people running in every direction. Then there was a secret door, but I… I couldn’t open it. But this boy…” Hange raised her head, briefly glancing in Levi’s direction. Levi’s heart skipped a beat, as he stared at Hange back. Could she remember him? “He pushed the door open for me, he… well, I guess he saved me.” Hange shrugged, grinning crookedly. “Sorry, but I don’t remember much.”
Tears gathered in the corners of Nanaba’s eyes, as Hange finished. She pressed her close to her chest. “You remember about secret door! It’s really you! Ah, I’m so happy we finally found you.” She whispered in her shoulder.
Hange patted her on the shoulder. “And I’m happy to be found.”
***
Hange stood in front of a grand, gorgeous theater. Her hands trembled, and looking at all the people around her – beautiful women in fancy dresses and handsome men in rich suits, she felt completely out of place.
Hange had half a mind to run away. To turn around and flee, as fast as she could. She almost took a step back, when Levi came to stand beside her.
“Nervous?” he asked, giving her a side glance.
“Of course not!” Hange exclaimed, trying to sound far more cheerful than she felt.
Levi silently raised his eyebrow. Hange huffed and lowered her head. “Fine, you’re right. Maybe, I feel a little nervous.”
“You’ve been dreaming about this moment your whole life, right? Of course, you’ll be nervous.” Levi replied in a strangely soft voice. He took Hange’s hand in his, giving her palm a squeeze. “I’ll be there, if you need me.” He promised.
Hange instantly felt better. She relaxed slightly, as all of her panic seemed to leave her body. Levi’s presence gave her a weird sense of comfort. With him by her side, she felt like she could do anything.
Still holding his hand, she entered the theater.
***
Hange fidgeted in her seat, picking at her dress. She tried to focus her attention on the stage, where an undoubtedly spectacular play was in motion, but her eyes had been glued to the old woman in the next balcony. Could it really be her? Her grandmother? Her family? Looking at her, Hange tried to feel something, some connection, but she felt nothing but panic.
Erwin and Levi left a couple of minutes ago, telling Hange they needed to discuss something with Nanaba. And Hange had been panicking ever since.
“Calm down,” Moblit whispered, leaning to her. “There is nothing to worry about.”
“Nothing to worry about?!” Hange hissed. “What if she doesn’t recognize me? What if she does recognize me?”
Moblit smiled, taking Hange’s hand in his. “If she doesn’t recognize you, then we move forward, continuing to look for your family. And if she does recognize you, then you’ll become a Princess.”
“But what if… what if I’m not sure if I want to become a Princess?” Hange whispered, suddenly vulnerable.
Moblit shrugged. “You’ll figure it out. We can always run away, you know, travel to some other place.”
“You’ll run away with me? You won’t leave me?”
“Of course, I won’t. Hange, I followed you from Russia to Paris. We’ve known each other, since we were kids. I’m not leaving you alone.”
Moblit’s earnest words and his unyielding loyalty warmed Hange’s heart. She moved closer and circled her hands around him, hugging him tightly. “Thank you, Moblit. You are a far better friend, than I deserve.” Holding Moblit in her embrace, all panic seemed to leave Hange’s body. She relaxed in his arms and enjoyed the warmth his body was giving to her.
“Oi,” suddenly came Levi’s displeasing voice. “Stop your lovey-dovey shit. We need to go.”
Hange giggled, letting go of Moblit and getting to her feet. “There is no need to get jealous, Levi. I can give you a hug, too, if you want.”
“Yeah, I think I’ll pass.” Levi grumbled. “Hurry up, four-eyes. Erwin is already waiting for us.”
And just like that, Hange’s worry returned. She nodded shakily, tightening her hands into fists to prevent them from shaking.
She followed Levi into the corridor. He led her to a big oak door and stopped. Erwin was already there, smiling encouragingly at Hange.
“Are you ready?”
“Let’s do this.” Hange replied. She grinned, remembering Moblit’s words. He was right, there was nothing to be afraid of.
Levi briefly squeezed her hand. “Wait here. We need to announce your arrival first.” His hand touched the handle, ready to open the door.
“Wait!” Hange stopped him. “I need… I need to tell you something.” It was on Hange’s mind for a while. What she felt for Levi… maybe, it was her last chance to say it. “I feel… I feel…”
“Yes?” Levi moved closer, staring at Hange intently. “What do you feel, Hange?” his voice was no louder than a whisper.
“I feel like…” And Hange did it, she almost said those words, but… “I feel like I should thank you. For everything you’ve done for me.” No, now was not the time for that. She had to meet her family. She could deal with her feelings for Levi later.
“Oh.” Levi’s face was as neutral as usual. But his gaze seemed disappointed. Hange tried not to think about it. His hand reached to the handle again, he almost turned it and opened the door, but suddenly he turned around. “Hange,” he called, laying his arm on her elbow. “Hange, I wanted to tell you—”
“Y-yes?”
Levi stared at Hange hopelessly, his mouth almost formed the needed words, but then he shook his head. “I wanted to wish you good luck.” Levi finished, shaking Hange’s hand. He cringed at his awkwardness, but he knew it was a right decision. He couldn’t let Hange know about his feelings – not now, not ever.
With one last look at Hange, Levi turned around and opened the door.
“Maybe, you should have confessed?” Erwin whispered in his ear, as they walked into the room.
“No,” Levi shook his head. “She’s a Princess, and I’m the servant’s son. We’re not meant to be.”
Erwin obviously wanted to disagree, but Levi silenced him with look and pointed to Nanaba, who was waiting for them. “We have more pressing matters now.”
Nanaba walked up to them, shaking her head sadly. “She refuses to see you. Or Hange.”
“Why?” Erwin’s thick brows furrowed.
Nanaba shrugged. “She’s an old woman. And her heart was broken for a very long time.”
“What a load of bullshit.” Levi growled, moving past Nanaba and heading towards Empress.
“Levi, wait!” Erwin tried to stop him, but Levi didn’t even turn around. Erwin gave Nanaba an apologizing look and then hurried after him.
“What are you doing?” Erwin hissed, as he caught up with him.
“I don’t care what this old woman wants. Hange is waiting for her, desperate to meet her family. I can’t let her down.”
“No,” Empress Olga said, as soon as Erwin and Levi stood before her. “I told Nanaba already that I don’t want to see you, and especially I don’t want to see another one of those ‘Princesses’.”
“But, your majesty, please listen to us!” Erwin begged, reaching to her.
Empress made a face of distain. “Do you have any respect towards me?”
“Of course!” Erwin was quick to assure her.
“Then respect my wish. I’m an old woman, I’m tired and weary. Do you know how many girls I’ve seen who had claimed to be my dear Hanna? I do not wish to see another imposter, my weak heart won’t be able to take it.”
Erwin stared at her, and for the first time in his life he didn’t know what to say, what words to use to persuade Empress.
Beside him, Levi took a step forward, his grey eyes narrowed as he glared at Empress. “Behind that door stands a young woman. She lost her family, and all she wants to do is to find it again. She traveled from Russia to here, just so she could meet you in hopes that you will turn out to be her grandmother. And you don’t want to waste one minute of your precious time just to see her?”
Empress was silent for a long moment, staring at Levi and Erwin in deep thought. It looked like she was actually considering to change her decision, but then her mouth formed a hard line, as an arrogant look returned to her eyes.
“I think I know you, gentlemen,” her sharp eyes looked at Levi and Erwin with utmost precision. “Erwin Smith and Levi Ackerman, am I right? Your reputation precedes you. The tales of your frauds reached even Paris.” Empress rose from her seat, sneering at the two men. “And I’ve heard about your little audition. You’ve been looking for Princess Hanna’s lookalike for a long time, haven’t you? So don’t come to me, crying about some lonely girl! When all you want is to take my money! You don’t care about me, or that girl, all you care for is money! Guards!” Empress called loudly. “Take those bastards away, and make sure they don’t come back!”
Instantly, two pairs of strong arms grabbed Levi’s shoulders and started to drag him away. He kicked and pushed, trying to free himself but his struggles were in vain. He got thrown on the floor and the door closed behind him.
And as Levi looked up, he saw Hange’s beautiful eyes. They were full of anger and hurt. And Levi realized – she had heard everything.
Levi hopelessly stared at her, his eyes wide.
“Hange!” Erwin tried, reaching to her, but one furious look from her and he took a step back.
“No.” She said, her voice deadly calm. “I do not want to hear anything from you two. You were lying to me, this whole fucking time, you’ve been lying to me!”
As she started to walk away, Levi finally recovered. He ran up to Hange, grabbing her hand. Hange recoiled, as though she was burned.
“Don’t you ever touch me.” Her voice was cold and angry, so unlike the Hange Levi was used to.
“Hange, listen to me, please!” Levi asked, desperate to explain himself, to make Hange understand.
“Are you going to tell me another lie? I trusted you, Levi, I thought we were friends! But you and Erwin were just using me! You didn’t care about me, you cared about money! And I was so foolish! I believed you were helping me out of the kindness of your hearts! I thought I meant something to you, Levi.” She said bitterly. “I thought I was in l— Ah! It doesn’t matter anymore! Just go away, Levi,” Hange sighed, so wearily and tiredly. Levi’s heart clenched. “I don’t want to see you anymore.”
And then Hange started to walk away, and all Levi could was to stare after her, feeling his heart shutter into million pieces.
***
“I’m so sorry, Levi,” Erwin laid a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I didn’t know this would result in such a disaster.”
“All of it is my fault,” Levi replied bitterly. “I shouldn’t have gotten… attached.”
He sighed and hanged his head. He kept seeing the hurt expression on Hange’s face and he shook his head, trying to get it out of his mind. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Empress. She was walking out of the theater, and looking around, Levi noticed a car she was heading to. Without another thought, he rushed to that car. He opened the door and threw the driver out.
“Sorry,” Levi told him, as he took his place in the driver’s seat. “I’ll return the car later.”
In the next moment, Empress sat down in the car, completely unaware that her driver was missing. Levi started the engine and began driving.
“Andrey, slow down a little,” she asked, staring out of the window.
“I’m not Andrey, Empress,” Levi looked at her face in the rear window.
The woman gasped, clutching her chest. “You! What are you doing here? Stop this car immediately!”
Levi shook his head. “Can’t do, Empress. I won’t stop until you agree to meet with your granddaughter.”
“I can throw you in jail for this, do you understand?”
“I do. But I don’t care.”
Empress sighed. “You’re an incredibly stubborn man, messier Ackerman. Fine, let’s meet with this girl of yours. I very much hope she’s worth it.”
“She is.” Levi promised her fiercely. “You don’t know it yet, your majesty, but your granddaughter is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met. She’s fearless, kind, strong and unbelievingly smart.”
Empress’ eyes were studying Levi’s reflection in the mirror. “You love her.” She didn’t ask, just stated it as a fact.
Levi averted his eyes from Empress’ knowing gaze. “It doesn’t matter. I know my place, your majesty. Street rats and princesses don’t belong together.”
Empress said nothing, just continued to stare at Levi.
Soon he stopped the car. They arrived to the hotel, where Hange was staying.
“She’s there, your majesty,” he told Empress, as he opened the door for her. “On the third floor, room number five. Be kind to her, and try to understand her.”
“You’re not coming with me?”
Levi sadly shook his head. “She doesn’t wish to see me anymore.”
“I was wrong about you, messier Ackerman. You’re a better man than I expected.” Empress didn’t smile, but her eyes were softer than moments ago. Then she got out of the car and slowly made her way inside. When she disappeared inside the building, Levi lifted his head. The light in Hange’s window was on, and he could see her silhouette, as she walked around the room. He stood there for a long moment, watching her. Then he sighed, and got back into the car, driving as far from Hange, as he could.
***
Hange was hurriedly packing her belongings in a small suitcase, when she heard a knock on the door of her room. Her treacherous heart skipped beat at the thought that it could be Levi. As she began thinking about him, the pain in her chest returned with a renowned vigor. She still couldn’t believe that Erwin and Levi had done this to her.
“I’ll answer the door.” Moblit said, squeezing her shoulder briefly.
“If that’s any of those assholes, don’t hesitate to throw them out.” Yes, she was hurt, but more than that she was angry. Angry at Levi and Erwin for using her and lying to her, angry at herself for believing them, for starting to care about them, for falling in love with one of them.
Hange’s solemn thoughts were interrupted by a sound of heavy, unhurried footsteps. Moblit didn’t walk like that. Hange raised her eyes and gasped, as she saw Empress, standing in front of her.
“My dear!” Empress came closer, laying her hand on Hange’s elbow. “You really do look like her. You’re almost a copy of my beloved Hanna.” Empress kept looking at Hange, when suddenly her eyes widened.
“This necklace!” Empress exclaimed, taking it in her hands and opening. Her eyes filled with tears, as she read the familiar words. “Together in Paris…” she whispered, holding the necklace in her trembling palms. “It’s really you, isn’t it? My dear Hanna, you’ve really returned home?”
“I hope so.” Hange shrugged and grinned unsurely.
“Oh my dear!” Empress threw herself at Hange, nearly suffocating her in tight embrace. She was crying loudly in her shoulder, and Hange awkwardly held the old woman in her arms. She didn’t know her, didn’t really remember her, but this woman clearly cared about Hange. It was nice. It was good to know that there were people who cared about her. People, who considered her a part of their family.
When Empess, calmed down, she took Hange’s face in her hands and studied it. “Look at you!” she exclaimed, smiling happily. “You’re so pretty, Hanna! We have to announce your return! Ah, yes, I should organize the ball. Everyone will love you!”
Hange smiled in return, and hoped it didn’t look too forced. She was happy, really happy to meet with her grandmother, it was her lifetime dream, but she felt uncomfortable, thinking about the ball. And she still wasn’t used to be called Hanna. She was Hange her whole life…
“Grandmother, I’m so sorry,” Hange touched the older woman’s hand. “But can we talk about this tomorrow? I had a rather stressful evening.”
“Of course, my dear, I’ll send a coach for you in the morning.” Empress rose to her feet. She looked around the hotel room, her face filling with distain. “And you should take all your belongings to my manor. An heir to Russian throne can’t sleep in a place like these! And by the way,” Empress leaned in, lowering her voice to a whisper. “Who is that man who answered the door? Is he your lover?”
“No!” Hange protested, waving her hands around. “It’s Moblit, he’s my friend! We grew up together, he’s like a brother to me.”
Empress hummed, still looking displeased. “Anyway, you shouldn’t sleep in the same room as him. It’s very improper.”
When the door after Empress closed and Moblit came back into the room, Hange breathed out, willing herself to relax.
She had never thought that meeting her relatives would be so hard.
***
“Come in,” Empress said, staring out of the window.
“Good day, your majesty. You’ve sent for us?”
Empress turned around. Messieurs Erwin Smith and Levi Ackerman were standing in front of her, looking uneasy.
“I did,” Empress said, taking a step closer to them. “It wasn’t easy to find you, messieurs. I can’t help but wonder why. Don’t you want your reward?”
“We didn’t expect you t—” Erwin began, but Levi cut him off.
“We don’t want it.” He said seriously. Then, glancing at Erwin, he hastily added. “I don’t want it. You should give all money to Erwin.”
“No, Levi’s right.” Erwin smiled, although it didn’t seem to work on Empress. “We wronged your granddaughter, your majesty. We’ve wronged her and we’ve hurt her. We don’t deserve a reward for that.”
“Huh, it seems like even criminals have honor. But are you sure, messieurs? You’ve returned my granddaughter to me, and I wish to repay you for that. Is there anything I can do for you? Maybe, there is something else you desire?”
“With all due respect, your majesty,” Levi began. “But you cannot give me what I desire.”
“Well, if that’s your decision,” Empress shrugged. “Do tell me one last thing, though – are you going to stay in Paris?”
“No, your majesty, we’ll continue to travel.” Erwin said. “Maybe, visit England, look for some job there.”
“Then I wish you luck.” Empress nodded, dismissing them.
***
Hange was trying yet another one of a dozen dresses her grandmother had bought for her. She studied her reflection in the mirror skeptically, while servants around her cheered and complimented her. She paid no mind to them, she had learnt already that their words and praises meant nothing. They would say anything, just to make her happy.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps on the stairwell behind her. She turned around. Her eyes widened as she saw who was descending.
Erwin and Levi.
Hange wanted to turn around, to ignore them, but they’ve already noticed her.
“Good day, Hange,” Erwin said warmly. “I see you are slowly getting used to your life.”
Hange nodded, and her eyes involuntarily darted to Levi. He was staring right at her, his eyes unreadable.
“Hange…” he whispered, his hands twitching with desire to touch her. “Hange, I’m s—”
“You can’t address a Princess like that!” one of the servants interrupted. “You have to call her ‘your highness’! And her name is not Hange!”
“It’s fine,” Hange smiled gently at the servant, dismissing him. “You don’t have to—”
“No, he is right,” Levi’s voice was completely devoid of emotion. “My apologies, your highness. I shouldn’t have forgotten my place. I hope you’re happy with your new life.”
Hange nodded once more, and even though her heart was breaking again, even though seeing Levi’s calm face and hearing his cold voice, calling her by that stupid title she was starting to loathe so much made the pain inside her chest intensify tenfold, she put on a smile. “And I hope you are happy with your reward, messier.” Swiftly turning around, she hurried away from that stairwell. She didn’t wish to see Erwin’s sad face or Levi’s impassive one.
And as Hange walked away, she didn’t see the pain that was inside Levi’s gaze, as his eyes followed her retreating figure.
***
“You look marvelous my dear!” Hange’s grandmother cooed. “Everyone will adore you! You’ll be the talk of all Paris!”
Hange restricted herself from making a face. Her grandmother was a good person, and she treated Hange with so much kindness, but the woman in the mirror wasn’t her. That woman in rich and beautiful dress with silk gloves and high heels, with crimson red lips and dark eyeshadow, with hair put into a tight bun instead of a messy ponytail, it wasn’t Hange. She could barely recognize herself.
“Had something happened?” Empress asked. “You look a little distant, Hanna.”
Hange slightly flinched. She didn’t want to be called that name either, she still preferred Hange, but she didn’t know how to say this to her grandmother without hurting her feelings.
“I’m fine, grandma,” Hange forced a smile.
But her grandmother was more perceptive than that. Her hard eyes studied Hange’s face. “I hope it’s not because of that fool, messier Ackerman.”
At the mention of Levi, Hange’s heart skipped a beat. She turned her face away from Empress, hiding her emotions. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, grandma. Levi and Erwin were nothing, but a way to get into Paris. And once they’ve done their job, we’ve parted ways.”
“They refused to take my money, you know?” Empress said nonchalantly. Her lips curved into a slight smirk, as she watched how her granddaughter’s eyes widened in surprise. “They told me that they’ve hurt you and they felt sorry for that. Messier Ackerman seemed especially troubled.”
Hange shook her head vehemently, refusing to even think about such possibility. “You’ve surely misunderstood something, grandma. Levi didn’t care for me at all.”
Empress hummed, knowing that nothing couldn’t further from the truth. “Maybe, you’re right. I don’t know them as much as you do. Anyway, I’m glad to hear that you don’t think about them anymore. It’s time for you to start a new chapter of your life. And speaking of that, hurry up! Your guests are waiting for you!”
“Of course, grandmother,” Hange sighed, preparing herself to go downstairs.
***
Hange breathed out in relief as soon as she left the ballroom. The room was big and spacious, but Hange was suffocating. Her tight corset and the never-ending stream of nobles, who wanted to great her, made Hange’s head spin.
Entering a chilly garden, she willed herself to relax. She walked to the nearest bench and sat down heavily. She couldn’t stop thinking about Levi. Why didn’t he take the reward? Was he actually guilty for using Hange? Could he really care for her?
Ugh, Hange wanted to see him so bad! She wanted to stare into his stupidly beautiful grey eyes and ask him what the fuck did he mean by his actions. Was it Hange’s wistful thinking or did he really feel something for her? Hange wanted to snatch out her own hair, that man was so insufferable! Even from afar he managed to frustrate and confuse her!
Hange was suddenly broken out of her thoughts by a warm hand that settled on her shoulders. She glanced aside and saw Moblit who sat down by her side.
“Why did you escape? Did you not enjoy the party?”
Hange groaned in reply. Because she had been thinking about that for a while as well. As much as she dreamed of meeting her own family, she didn’t like her new life. Truth be told, she loathed it. She hated having to wear fancy dresses, or chat with stupid nobles, or flirt with rich men. She hoped that by finding her family, she would be able to find herself, to finally realize who she was. But instead, she felt like slowly losing herself. She wasn’t meant for this life, she couldn’t feign politeness and she didn’t want to follow stupid rules and useless etiquette. Her grandmother was a good, kind woman, and Hange liked her! But she didn’t feel any connection, she didn’t feel like they were family.
And Hange suddenly realized – she didn’t feel like Empress Olga was her family, because she had already found her own family. She had found it in Moblit’s calm and constant presence, in quiet and engaging conversations with Erwin, and in an amusing banter with Levi.
“Moblit!” Hange put her hands on his arm, her eyes burning almost feverishly. “Moblit, do you know where Erwin and Levi are?”
If Moblit was surprised by her question, he didn’t show it. He just nodded and checked his watch. “They planned to get board a ship that will get them to England. It leaves in about an hour.”
“Do you want to run away with me?” she asked him with a big grin on her face.
“Of course.” Moblit replied without hesitation. He smiled at Hange in return. It was so long, since he had seen that crazy grin of hers.
Hange jumped to her feet. “Then let’s hurry! We have to catch up with Erwin and Levi!”
“Alright,” Moblit kneeled in front of her. Ignoring Hange’s confused gaze, he took her dress in his hands and then tore the fabric, tying two ends just a little over her knees. Then he raised to his feet and put his hands in Hange’s hair, freeing her hair out of a tight bun. “There,” he whispered fondly. “Now you look like your usual self.”
Hange’s eyes almost watered. She truly didn’t deserve such an amazing and loyal friend. But they had to hurry. So grabbing Moblit by the hand, she started running.
***
“We’ve been standing here for a fucking hour,” Levi grumbled, scowling furiously. “Why the fuck they aren’t letting us in?”
Erwin shrugged, listening to his friend’s complaints with a smile. “They probably are rechecking their equipment. And what’s the hurry? Are you so eager to leave Paris?”
“I’m sick of this city.” Levi muttered, hiding his face. He wanted to leave Paris as fast possible. And more than that he wanted to leave all the painful memories it brought him.
Suddenly Erwin and Levi heard a sound of hurried and loud footsteps. They turned around, and Levi’s breath hitched in his throat. He watched with wide eyes, not believing that it was actually real.
Hange was running towards them, dragging Moblit with her.
“Were you really just using me?” she asked breathlessly, as soon as she reached them. “Or do you also consider me a friend?”
“We’ve hurt you, Hange. And I cannot possibly apologize enough for that. But we do care about you,” Erwin’s lips curved into a warm and gentle smile. “In that short time, I’ve grown to care about you a great deal.”
Hange answered him with an almost crazy grin. Her hair was even messier than usual, her make-up was all smudged, her glasses were askew and her dress was torn in half. She looked absolutely wild.
And she gave Levi and Erwin no warning, as she launched herself at them, putting her hands around their necks. “You fucking assholes,” she laughed merrily. “I missed you so much.” Then without missing a beat, she asked. “Do you have a room for Moblit and me at your ship?”
Erwin chuckled. “Of course, we do.”
“Excellent!” Hange let go of them, still grinning from ear to ear. “Then let’s get aboard!”
“Wait,” Levi stopped her with his hand on her elbow. “What the fuck does all of it mean, four-eyes? Did you run away?”
“Yeah, I did.” She announced rather proudly. “Right from the ball.”
Levi huffed. “You’re insane.” He muttered with a small smile on his face.
Hange couldn’t stop staring at him. She grabbed his arm and started to drag him away to a more secluded area. “We need to talk.”
Despite his racing heart, Levi managed to keep a straight face. “What do you want to talk about?”
“How did you recognize me?” Hange asked suddenly. “I know you did, from the very first moment that you’ve seen me. So. How did you do it?”
“I… I saw your portrait.”
“Bullshit.” Hange replied with a grin. “You were that boy, right? The one, who saved me?”
Levi’s eyes widened. “How did you—”
“I didn’t remember you, not at first. But then, some pieces started to come back to me.” She chuckled. “You really believed I was a Princess, huh?”
“Of course, I did.” Levi crossed his hands on his chest, trying to appeal nonchalant.
All of his attempts were rudely destroyed, when Hange unexpectedly leaned in and gave Levi a peck on his lips. “W-what was that for?!” Levi spurted. “For saving your life?”
“Of course not, dummy,” Hange’s eyes gazed at him with a mix of amusement and fondness. “That was for being the most insufferable short grump I’ve ever met!”
“Oh?” Levi raised his eyebrow, putting his hands on Hange’s waist. Standing on his tiptoes, he kissed Hange again. “Then that was for being such a four-eyed weirdo, who literally never stops talking.”
Hange’s smirk grew wider. She tangled her hands in Levi’s hair, pressing closer to him. “That’s for always hiding your feelings and never showing how kind and caring you truly are!” She put her lips on his, and this time the kiss was much longer and deeper, leaving both of them breathless. Pressing her forehead against Levi’s, Hange grinned like an idiot.
Levi’s hand touched her cheek, gently caressing it. He waited until his breath was under control, before whispering right in Hange’s lips. “And that’s for being so incredibly smart and irritatingly amazing. And also for making me fall in love with you.”
His lips almost touched Hange’s, but suddenly they both heard a polite cough. Turning around (with their hands still around each other), they saw Erwin. He was standing beside them with a smug grin on his face.
“While I am very happy for you both,” he began, trying to stop himself from laughing out loud. He had never thought that he would get to see Levi looking like this – with red, swollen lips and messy hair. “But you can always continue this some other place. The ship is sailing soon. Moblit is already aboard,” Erwin added, answering Hange’s unasked question.
“Then let’s go!” she shouted, wrapping her hands around Erwin’s and Levi’s shoulder.
With her friends beside her, and a bright future ahead, Hange felt happier than she did in years.

May I ask for ur opinions on Mari? Love ur blog btw
Hi anon, thank you!!
If I may, I'd like to recommend a video that I personally find super insightful on Mari!
youtube
I personally agree with pretty much everything this person said and their video on Chika is just as (if not even more) spot on!! I will leave more detailed thoughts under the cut 💞 as always these are just my personal opinions!
First of all, can I just say how proud I am of Mari? She lived a sheltered life with incredibly controlling parents who not only decided everything for her, but they actively tried to prevent her from seeing her only friends. Despite that she still grew up to be a positive, bubbly, outgoing and friendly person who's smart, capable and talented and we love to see it!! Go get it girl!!
Personally, I see Mari as a bit of a mysterious character. She's one of those people who always secretly have an agenda and you can tell they are sooo much deeper than they look. Mari may act cheerful all the time but she can also be serious when the situation requires it, and she can be surprisingly attentive to people's feelings as well! She's the only one that noticed You wasn't okay at the end of Sunshine S1 and she was so caring towards her, we really got to see a whole new side of Mari besides being quirky and fun :3
I think that due to her strict parents and her sheltered lifestyle it's become hard for Mari to trust people easily, and she's become the type of person who prefers to work on things alone, especially if they're problematic or serious, because she doesn't want to burden others. She's been carrying the school's problems in her heart all alone, trying to find a solution by herself, even if she knew there were other people (Chika and the rest of Aqours) who also wanted to help. She did "use" Aqours in a way, but she never fully revealed her motives or how connected to school idols she was till the 3rd year drama came out and she joined Aqours.
I think the only two people she fully trusted pre-Aqours were Kanan and Dia (who were also the only ones who knew about her family issues and her mother trying to force her into a marriage she didn't want) but she couldn't confide in them at the time so I'm sure she must've felt incredibly lonely, because despite the fact that she's had everything from birth, the only thing she's ever wanted was to be a normal girl, and to sing and dance with her best friends.
I'm very thankful to Dia and Kanan for being Mari's friends and encouraging her to break out of her shell, they showed her the world and they showed her she can have control over her own life, and I don't even want to imagine how she'd be living if Dia and Kanan hadn't been there :c which makes their fight and the issue of the school closing that much more painful.
Uchiura and Uranohoshi mean so much to Mari because they're the place where she met the two most important people in her life and the place where she formed Aqours with them, where she had fun with them and where she got to forget about the expectations that were placed on her since she was born. Dia and Kanan were the first people to love Mari for who she was and the first people to give her a voice that's her own so at least to me, it's completely understandable that she'd give up anything to be with them.
She's sacrificed so much for their friendship!! She's said no to studying abroad and she's said no to being a normal high schooler and became THE PRINCIPAL of her school, all of this to save the place where her, Kanan and Dia were together 🥺 I've repeated the same point with different wording about 13 times because I can't even begin to explain the depth of Mari's love for those two!! 🥺🥺 So I can only imagine how painful those two years apart were, when she thought Kanan hated her and never wanted to see her again 😭🤧
Which brings me to my next point!! This is probably a very basic thought but I didn't realize it immediately and it HURT when I did, but the reason why Mari was SO UPSET over what happened with Kanan and Dia (other than the obvious emotional reasons and the fact that they lied) was because they did exactly what her parents had been doing since she was born. They knew Mari had a bright future ahead of her and all by themselves they decided that was more important than being a school idol, despite Mari rejecting the offer, and they went off making decisions on her future without telling her or giving her a voice. Them, the two very people who taught her how important it is for her to express herself and do what she really loves!! I don't think Mari fully realized it but I would've also been shocked and upset in her position.
Mari's said so herself, hasn't she? She couldn't care less about her future right now!! She's been hearing talk about it since she was kid, but she's just a high schooler after all. She wants to do what high schoolers do, which is having fun with her friends and exploring the interests she's passionate about. To be honest, all the money in the world and the best education out there don't mean anything unless you're happy, and she could've never gone to Italy to study permanently if she hadn't patched things up with Dia and Kanan.
One last note! Can I just say one thing that I find super interesting? Mari's a foreigner and the literal stereotype of an American in Japan, but her name is written in kanji (鞠莉) while Dia and Ruby are from a traditional Japanese family and especially Dia is the picture of the Yamato Nadeshiko, but their names are written in katakana, the alphabet for foreign words (ダイア and ルビイ). It sounds a lot more stupid now that I've typed it but I swear it was interesting in my head lol.

First Line Tag Game!!
I was tagged by @idontonlytalkaboutdcmk
Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line, then tag 10 of your favorite authors!
I’ll try to go from more recent to older (date of the creation of the doc will be written in MM/YYYY format), but this might not correspond to the time the sentence was actually written. (I might have missed some stuff but, oh well, whatever.)
1- (04/2021) Aizawa meets Izuku AU (MHA, OS in progress)
It was luck that brought Shouta here.
2- (03/2021) Vigilante Yagi AU (MHA, in-progress, either a long-fic or a serie of OS)
All Might has been a hero longer than he has ever been Yagi Toshinori.
3- (02/2021) Dad For All AU (MHA, various blurb on tumblr so far, most likely a longfic)
Izuku was trying really hard not to panic. One second he was fighting a villain with a still unknown quirk, the next he found himself __ years in the past, according to the news report currently going on TV.
4- (02/2021) Midoriya Inko’s Guide To Good Parenthood (MHA, in progress, probably a serie of OS?)
Midoriya Inko isn’t anything special. She's 30 going on 52, has a really bad case of anxiety, can and will cry for any reasons, and has gotten so many grey hair from her son's shenanigans its a wonder she still has green hair.
5- (12/2020) The Kids Will Be Alright (DCMK, spin-off of Sharpen Your Knives)
Ran was running. Fast, fast, faster, not fast enough. She put all her strength in her legs, went as fast as she could.
6- (11/2020) Before the coffee gets cold - The Sisters (DCMK, OS published on AO3)
It was probably foolish of her to come back to this place. But, on the off chance that the rumours were true, she wanted to give it a chance.
7- (11/2020) Sharpen Your Knives (DCMK, in-progress longfic, won’t be published for a long while)
Shinichi has no idea how things could have gone so wrong, so quickly.
8- (08/2020) The Time Travel Road Trip Case (DCMK, spin-off of Who The F- Is This) (technically not the first lines, but it’s the first part I’ve written)
Shinichi(Conan) felt someone lift him up from the back, he turned his face as he came level with their chest, one look at their face and…
Well, guess he found KID.
9- (06/2020) Who The F- Is This (DCMK, longfic in progress, the first chapters are on AO3)
Shinichi’s head was throbbing. He felt like someone was playing drums with his head. What has happened?
10- (06/2020) Harrinichi Kupotter (DCMK & Harry Potter x-over, longfic in progress)
Shinichi doesn't really believe in superior beings, gods or the supernatural. So far everything in his life could be explained by science and very human tricks.
11- (03/2019) Naobuza & Raphtaku AU (The Rising of the Shield Hero & Naruto x-over, an old baby I keep coming back to)
If you were to ask anyone to tell you about Naofumi Iwatani, those who remember him would tell you that he’s a weird kid. There’s something otherwordly about him, as if he was evolving in a totally different universe from them.
12- (01/2019) The self-indulgent FMA TT au (FMA, an old project that I should go back to, someday)
Somehow, sometimes, Ed felt like there was some being out there, out for him.
13- (01/2019) Nanadaime time travel AU (Naruto, will most likely be an OS, one day I will finish it enough to post it on AO3)
It was a late night In the Hokage office, one of many. As was usual by now, the Hokage was filling paperwork at his desk, his right-hand-man filling his own number of files at his side.
14- (11/2018) Baby Ed saving the world with hugs and punches (FMA, an old project that I will go back to)
On a warm night during the summer of 2005, as the sun left it’s place for the shining stars, Edward Elric went to sleep for the last time besides his lovely wife, in the house he has rebuilt with his own two hands.
15- (06/2018) The roadtrip 03Ed never knew he needed (FMA03/CoS & Fantastic Beasts and where to find them x-over, a serie of OS)
He wasnt sure what brought him back here.
Maybe he just wanted to make sure Envy was dead, one monster less in this world. Or maybe he just wanted to make sure there was no way between both world (no way to go home.)
16- (04/2018) Badass Women Roleswap AU (FMA, I still sometime go back to it, will most likely be a serie of OS)
Ed didn’t have many memories of his father. He could remember a tall man, who always looked sad. A giant who always had trouble when it came to holding him and his brother. A figure always working in his study. A person who always looked sad when teaching them alchemy.
17- (03/2018) FMA TT fic I wasnt planning to expend (FMA, old project, I will get back to it.) (it is, also, the first fanfic idea I got when I got back into writing fics)
Nothing happened as it should have been. No matter everything they’ve done to try and stop him, the dwarf in the flask still managed to bypass it all and, in some way, reach his goal.
And that’s pretty much it for any written stuff I got (anything else is too old)
Bonus: A la recherche du canard (Looking for the duck) - it’s an old assignment I had for french class, where we had to pick an article and write a short story based on it. (When I say old, I mean it’s from 2012 - it’s a good way to see how far I’ve come). It’s honestly really bad but I did have a lot of fun back then. (This is a translated from french version btw) (yes I stole names from Hetalia I was always terrible at finding names for characters)
The sun shined upon the sleeping man face, who opened his bright blue eyes. He got up suddenly, throwing his blanket on the ground. Today would be the day where he, Alfred F. Jones, Yorkville police officer, would accomplish his mission: keeping an eye on the annual fair set-up.
So, observations: You can very clearly see me go through various fandom phases it’s funny. Also my naming skills for the AUs got slightly better (but not that much.) I do tend to drop a name (usually the person from whom the POV is) in those first sentences. The first paragraph tend to get shorter with time (which might simply be because I realised I tend to lose focus when it gets too long.) I also never start on dialogue, generally I go for the POV’s thought uh.
I do quite like the ones for the Vigilante Yagi AU and the Midoriya Inko’s guide, The Kids Will Be Alright too. Badass Women I like it but also am not 100% happy with it.
This mostly made me want to share even more about these stories to y’all.
Anyway! Tagging @whoever wants to do it! I’m not sure whom I follow has already done it/been tagged or not, uuuuhhh, maybe @artistfingers ? If you’re a writer and wants to do it then go for it and tag me I guess.

Fallen Angel! Chapter 4
Poe Dameron x Reader (gender neutral)
Read here or on AO3 (the other chapters are her too btw)
Part 4: Captive (?)
A/N: I hope you enjoy!  As much as I would like to as an 18+ part of this story, I have no idea how to write sex scenes unless someone would like to collaborate. Let me know what you think or what suggestions you may have! I am also taking requests and questions about works!
*___*___*
“What do you have that for?” Claude asked, pulling back her curly mane.
“It's some metal from his ship.” You sighed. “I thought he might like a keepsake, this is the only decent piece I could find, the rest is just twisted junk.”
“What's your plan for the evening? You could stay at my place while the outsider is in your home. And of course Ravio is always welcome.”
“Thanks for the offer but I'd like to keep an eye on him as well as my house. He's not the sort that stays still very long...W-Which actually reminds me...”
“What?” Claude stopped, lightly gripping your shoulders. “I don't like it when you trail off like that. Kark! Just say it.”
“I never had a single vision this week, not even this kriffing month!” Clenching your jaw, you could see Claude's face start to fall. “He was able to make it here without exploding in the atmosphere.”
Your friend paused, looking away for a good moment to collect herself before gently patting your head. “It's not your fault, Y/N.”
“Yes it is. Since I started, we haven't missed a year, I guess I just got sloppy.”
“Are you joking? Please be joking. Stars, Y/N, something has to be wrong, because this would be the first year you've missed the Opening. Besides, you're the youngest yet, so one year won't hurt.”
Reluctantly, you nodded, not fully believing her. “You'll be okay letting the council know? Some of them were really looking forward to the freedom.”
Claude snorted. “The twenty-four hour freedom? I'd hardly call it that.”
“What was it like when you went?”
She set the pace, her long strides a feat to match. “Hm. I was so young I hardly remember much of what happened except for the visit to Coruscant. There were so many people, like everyone in the whole galaxy had come to this one planet!”
Rubbing your hands together, you wondered what it would be like to live in a place where the temperature was just slightly warm.
“I just wish she could've been smarter and flown us back as soon as the errands were taken care of. Guess that's why I select the pilots now...Hey, maybe try the temple. Maybe for once that old place will have some kriffing answers.”
The rest of your walk home was relatively quiet, though time spent with Claude did not always require action. Simply going about your business in the other's presence was peaceful. Memories of reading sacred texts, while Claude trained vigorously in the the woods made up a good portion of your childhood. Of course your master had made you hone your own offensive skills, but using weapons had never been a great talent of yours.
After bidding Claude a peaceful evening, you departed to your home, still wracking your brain for a civil approach. Opening the door, a wave of warmth washed all over, making shedding your coat all the more refreshing.
“Good boy,” You whispered to Ravio, thinking your guest was fast asleep. “Let's get something to eat, okay?”
“Can a guy get something to eat too?”
Startled, you jerked awkwardly. “Force! I thought you-You should be asleep!”
Poe Dameron smirked. “Kinda hard to get shut eye when you're running on empty.”
“Sorry...” You breathed, walking quickly into the small kitchen. “Do you have any restrictions?”
“Nah, guess I'm lucky. If I'm honest I'd eat a womprat at this point.”
At that you let out a small laugh, covering your face with one hand. Against better judgment, you stole a look at Poe to find his smile had widened, one brow raised.
“Heh, well you won't have to be doing that.”
Thankful to have a reason to look away, you turned to your conservator, gathering ingredients for a hearty stew. You meticulously selected the appropriate meats and vegetables, that would best promote a healthy recovery.
“Not that I don't love this place and the hospitality? Amazing. But, is there a port around these parts? A guy's got places to be y'know?”
“Oh. How soon do you need to leave?” Your hands worked the knife with haste.
“As soon as possible, I guess. I know I'm a little worse for wear, but it wouldn't be the first time flying like this.”
Sliding everything into one pot, you set it above the fire to cook naturally. To sate Poe's current hunger you picked up a clean Jorgan fruit slowly walking over, your throat feeling rather tight. Gratefully, he took the fruit, biting into it with gusto.
“Leaving,” You started, sitting cross-legged a good distance from the bed, “is rather complicated.”
Poe swallowed his last bite, narrowing his eyes at you. “What the hell does that mean?”
Next to you, the fire began to crack and pop, sending sparks flying.
“You...I...As far as I know, you won't be able to leave. Even if you tried.”
“This isn't funny. I have to leave this rock as soon as possible! I'm serious! This isn't funny!”
Such a reaction was expected, no sane person would be delighted to find that they had crash landed on a nearly deserted planet, unable to leave until the same time next year. As frustrated as you were, the next few words would have to be calm and reassuring, sweat was trickling down the poor man's forehead, trailing around the carefully placed bandages.
“There are no ports, no cities, or districts here. You're on Tython, the atmosphere only lets people lave once a year. Ships we do have, though if any of us were to pilot it out, it wouldn't make it into space before exploding into millions of pieces.”
“So you have ships then?” His eyes darted to the door every so often.
After a second, you nodded, very much disliking the hope that suddenly radiated from him.
“If I could just...Do you have communications? You have to have something!”
You shrugged. “Yeah. They're not much good.”
“Let me just try to get through to my friends! I can pay for a ship, no problem!”
Poe Dameron continued his spirited plan while you quietly slipped a datapad from a shelf.
“If it's the storm you're worried about, I'm not such a bad pilot, I should be able to make it out into space with hardly a scratch!” He paused. “Why aren't you saying anything? Y/N? C'mon you're scaring me.”
Still maintaining a polite distance, you sat next to him on the bed. “It's not the storms.” You pulled up a taped holovid from several years ago. “Someone thought as you do now. Except that he decided to string others along with him.”
Your heart twisting, you played the video, looking from the corner of your eye to gauge his reaction. Nearly everyone on Tython had lived to see this, save the babies and young children. And no one desired to recollect on the matter.
The sky had been a bright baby blue, gentle and brilliant all at once. The man had insisted on this journey, ignoring not only your master and Claude's sister, but his own parents. So sure of his mission, the youth decided to document his venture, a memory to be envied and cherished. Haughtily, he secured a device on the inside of the canopy, to transmit the feed back to those grounded souls.
One could see from the view of the pilot as the ship bolted into the sky, climbing higher and higher until the Y-Wing was but a speck in a sea of blue. You half expected to see it vanish into space altogether, but it was not to be. The Opening had occurred but three months prior. From your spot atop the roof of the house, you watched as a brilliant red bloomed, shards of black bursting forth in the sudden wake of the explosion. The feed had cut almost instantly, saving anyone from hearing the few lives being snuffed out prematurely. Still, there was no forgetting the chorus of sorrow derived from those lamenting the family and friends they had just lost.
“That doesn't make sense.” Poe murmured, grabbing the datapad from you. “Everything was clear, they should have made it! It must have been something with the engine or the cooling system...”
“That fool made sure his ship was immaculate.”
Feeling rather dismal, you removed the pot from the fire, bringing it to the kitchen.
“Nothing is perfect. I'll be different! Just let me take one of your ships, please!”
With heavy eyes, you regarded him carefully. “We hardly have any as it is. Since we can only leave once a year, only the most experienced leave to bring back supplies and the like. Besides, we are not very populous.”
The man rolled his eyes, setting the pad down, scrunching his nose just a bit. “If the damn sky opens once a year, why don't you all just get the hell out of here?”
Your grip on the bowl hardened, clenching your jaw you shoved the food at Poe. “Some of us can't. Others have no reason to leave.”
“That doesn't even- Look, sweetheart, I'm sure your home has some pretty hot pilots, but I'm willing to bet, none of them could out fly me.”
“You don't have to be a great pilot, even if you were-”
“Next clear day, you're gonna watch me leave this rock.” He almost snarled.
“We're not letting you take one of our ships!”
“You're not going to keep me here like a hostage!”
“It's not my fault!”
“Then let me GO!”
The sudden raise in his voice made you jerk away. Poe seemed to realize he startled you, and his face softened, mouth opening to say something, but no words came out. Hastily you stood, rushing for the door, grabbing your coat and shoes, planning to put them on outside then linger inside for even a moment longer.
Once you were adequately dressed, you stomped furiously, feeling the heat of your anger warm your body. Under the pale moonlight, the path to the town hangar was clear. If that dogmatic flyboy wanted to leave so badly then by all means why not provide him with his shot after taking the time to piece him back together. The lengthy walk and frigid chill cooled your mood, though your decision had been made.
“Hey, kid! What brings you out here? Don't you have like books to read and magic to do?”
Giving a tired smile, you greeted Emilio with a brief hug, not wanting to soil your clothes with oil.
“I have a problem, Emilio,” you sighed, closing the door of the hangar. For being built directly into a mountain, it was surprisingly silent.
Your friend winced, scratching lightly at the skin of his neck. “This wouldn't be about that rebel, would it?”
“Kark. Did Claude already hold the meeting?”
He nodded, pulling off his goggles. “The people understand, but they're still angry. Not so much at you. Claude reasoned we could go one year without sending someone out. They're angry at that damn pilot. His ship took out a good deal of the crops.”
Another headache started to form. Peering over Emilio's handiwork, you had to admire his ability to bring new life to something as dead as an Old Republic A-Wing.
“Stars...This looks fresh.” You marveled. “Except for the paint, but its perfect.”
He laughed nervously, scratching himself. “Aw, it's not much and I've got the rest of those junked up ships to get through.”
Emilio gestured behind him, the cavern-turned-hangar stretched back far, holding star ships that would have ordinarily been scrap. The people of Tython could not afford that.
“Damn. I forgot how many there are.” Reminded of the reason for your visit, you snapped to attention. “As wizard as your work is, that's not why I'm here.”
“Oh thank the stars. I though you were coming in here to tell me you had a premonition...”
“Look,” You started, “The pilot who crashed is staying with me. He's one stubborn bastard and didn't take the explanation well.”
Your friend laughed awkwardly. “Who the hell does?”
“Besides the point. He wants out, and he wants it bad. I got the feeling he's the type to try and snag one of the working ships when the guard is down.”
Emilio's usually pleasant face grew quite grave, his grip on his spanner growing so tight, his knuckles cracked.
“We have our communications in here, so if you could just set it up so the signal reaches further. If he can contact his friends, then they can try to break through.”
Twirling the tool in his hands, he slid down to sit against the ship. “Are you gonna tell them about the skies or...”
“Well, of course!” You said exasperatedly. “I'm not going to let anyone fly at lightning speed right to their own death if I have any say.”
Emilio agreed to help, and in exchange, you would prepare for him a slew of remedies to ease the pain in his joints and soothe his skin.  Unable to bear the awkward situation with Poe Dameron back at your own home, you were granted permission to stay the night in the hangar. A pang of guilt struck you, realizing that Ravio was back at home, though  at least someone would keep an eye on the house while you were a ways off. After setting up a hammock, you wrapped yourself loosely in a bundle of blankets, strangely passing out as your body went lax.
Usually sleeping for long periods of time was a bad sign; there was no proof, just superstition. So when you felt your hammock shaking, a feeling of dread made your heart beat faster. Still very much groggy, it was a feat to push yourself up and focus on Emilio who looked worriedly at you with panicked eyes.
“Kids f-found him in the center of town! The kriffing guy is trying to get around and asking for a ride!”
“Wh...What?”
He offered no explanation, but hurried off, leaving you to stumble out of bed, very much disheveled. Silently, you swore up a storm trudging your way from the hangar, thankful for yet another cloudy day, any sunshine would have been blinding. The winding path seemed longer in your tired stupor and the commons were a welcome sight. And very suddenly you understood Emilio's reaction. The man was clinging to one of the two chairs in your home, using it as an unorthodox crutch to move forward bit by bit.
“Hey!” You cried out. “What the hell do you think you're doing?”
Fury fully rousing you from your sleep, you marched right over to Poe Dameron hands on your hips, glaring down at the man who offered a sheepish smile.
“Hey, kid! I was wondering where you went, so I, uh, thought I'd go looking for ya!”
“Save it!” Your connection to Claude proved helpful. “I suggest you stay still.”
Poe let out an awkward yelp as Claude's strong arms wrapped around his waist with ease, pulling him taut.
“I'm not some kid! Put me down! Are you crazy?”
Your friend failed to flinch once as she strode back to your home, while you carried the chair in one arm. Once back inside the warmth of your house, Claude set Poe down just a bit too rough. Though the pilot was injured, you were still quite upset with him. Sluggishly you set the chair near the bed and faced Poe with a rather cold expression.
“Did you actually believe in your mind that anyone in this village was going to just hand you a ship?”
“I was thinking someone would be kind enough -HNGH!”
In his own frustration, the pilot tried to shift forward, only serving to irritate his already stressed and broken leg.
“Here. Hold still or else you'll make it worse...” As you fixed the wrappings, Claude took your seat.
“Did you tell him?” She asked, frowning slightly.
“Of course, but he doesn't believe me. Surprise, surprise...”
“You guys are not gonna keep me here like some kind of prisoner!” He growled. “There has to be a way off this kriffing planet!”
Feeling your head spin, you finished patching things up before scooting back. “I...I said you could try and contact anyone you need to in this system. We're not going to let you destroy any of our ships, so if you're so intent on getting out, then you can let your friends try.”
Your words had been curt and sharp, as well as a good deal louder than intended which was becoming a common theme. Truthfully you wished he could go home as soon as he wished, there was the hidden desire to know more of the mysterious pilot, though now was not the time. To be able to go beyond this single planet for more than a day would be...beyond transformative at a level you could not yet comprehend, let alone imagine. But this was not your destiny. It had been taught to you intensely and in spite any childhood desires, you were reminded of the impossibility. So to keep any hopes from merely forming, you were not allowed to even be considered as a passenger or pilot for the Opening of the Skies. So you knew the feeling of wanting to leave. At least this Poe Dameron could live beyond the atmosphere.
“I-I can actually send a message?” Poe asked wide eyed.”
Laying back on the floor you stared at the ceiling. “Of course. I told you that. I was going to bring you to our hangar where the comms hub is, but then you had to take my furniture and make a break for it.”
“Cause' I thought you were keeping me here an she threatened me!” He pointed a finger behind you.
With a small smirk you looked back at Claude who shrugged.
“What? Don't look at me like that, Y/N. I can tell he's trouble, I told you. And you saw what he did.”
Once again, you let you head fall back. “We can go to the hub.” You decided.
The pilot gave a small cheer. “Thank Maker...”
“But, I need to go to the basin. I haven't been able to take care of myself much the past few days.”
Claude nodded approvingly though your guest was more interested than put off by this delay.
“A basin? So water? Stars, I need a bath.”
He rambled on about his current state, lamenting the lack of accommodations, though he had been through far worse. On the other hand, you gave your friend a look of fright, her awkward grimace confirming what you had taken away from Poe's relief.
“Must you, right this second?” She asked. “I have work to do now, so I should be going.”
Lightly biting your tongue, you relented. “I'll take him myself then.”
“Can't you just wait!? Wait so I'll be able to go with you for Force's sake!”
“Just...I can handle it myself. Trust me, I'll be fine. Plus, I may not be the best in combat, but even you know I put up a damn good fight.”

I am horribly sick and just want to stab everyone that tries to make me use my incredibly sick throat. May I get a ramble on fangs and feathers? Or even Prompto-Cloud thingy bit thing. (Uuughgi. Sickness makes my memory WORSE. I can't remember its name and honestly F&F was a hit or a miss but it LOOKS RIGHT SO.)
I’m so sorry to hear that!! Ummm let’s go with the Prompto-Cloud thing (Clouds and Moonlit Skies verse btw). Actually *grins* let’s go with a nutty xover.
-Zack and Cloud are ten years old in this. They trip into another dimension and at first don’t realize it. They were busy exploring an old part of the Citadel, Seph is with them, having abandoned his paperwork on Zack’s puppy eyes and Cloud’s teasing. They have fun for a while, poking around dusty old rooms and discovering a new, spacious training ground to trash later.
-Then they get hungry and troop their way for the kitchens to grab a snack.
-They enter the populated part of the Citadel and come face to face with a Crownsguard.
-The Crownsguard isn’t human.
-Well, the upper half of him is, but his lower half is some kind of fluffy tabby house cat, like a centaur, but a cat.
-Both sides stare at each other in astonishment for several very long seconds before the guard shouts in shock and rears back, tail puffing out to stupidly huge proportions as he reaches for his com to ... alert someone.
-Seph acts on pure instinct, lunging for the guard and tackling him to the ground. He knocks the guard out, but not before getting a nasty claw-made gash on one arm and the guard screaming into his link something about “Drautos is here!” Which really shouldn’t be cause for alarm because he works here- except he doesn’t, because he’s half sitting on an unconscious, man-sized half HOUSE CAT person.
-A frantic game of keep-away-what-is-going-on starts up with Noctis, Prompto, and Titus all ducking into rooms and through camera blindspots to avoid the Crownsguard who are ALL centaur cat people (Zack: Cataurs? Cloud: Not the time Zack) eventually though, they get caught, because of course they do, the Citadel is different and the cameras are too many. They get cornered in a very large, grand hallway with lots of very potentially breakable art, surrounded by wild-eyed and tense Crownsguard who range from cat people to deer people to ... is that a ferret over there? Cloud is pretty sure that’s a ferret person.
-Also Cor Leonis is there, tail swishing madly as he clutches at his sword and eyes them, fur bristling slowly as their hunters all seem to finally realize that the “Drautos and unknown intruders” they’ve been chasing are NOT half animal of some kind.
-Zack is the one to break the silence by stage whispering to Cloud, “I thought he’d be a lion. You know, with the name and all.” Seph, uncaring of leaving himself open to attack, takes a moment to facepalm with a heavy sigh while someone in the Crownsguard gives a nervous, semi-hysterical laugh.
-Tension now thoroughly ruined, the three allow themselves to be herded by a stiff-legged, bristling Cor to the Throne Room where the Regis and Clarus of this dimension are. Zack smothers (badly) a giddy laugh at seeing his dad with lion hindquarters (so cliche! Lion King!) and ooing softly over Clarus’s tiger stripes.
-Seph notices something subtly relax in the king despite his bristling tail and the way everyone keeps staring at them like they’re cryptids. That is CONVENIENTLY when Gentiana shows up (as an actual centaur???) and explains that the three of them accidentally slipped through the boundaries between worlds from a nearby world, and that it should wear off within three days time.
-She disappears and the awkward conversations start. It quickly becomes apparent that the ... Taurs are a little bit in awe at the sight of their two-legged status (apparently, as the king explains, all taurs used to be humans but were turned into taurs at the FALL OF SOLHEIM. Cloud wonders if this was how Aerith felt when people gushed over her being an Ancient). It also becomes evident that none of them trust Seph. At all. They keep their eyes on him far more than Zack and Cloud (though Regis does stare at Zack a bit, no doubt it’s weird looking at his son with human legs). Cor looks two steps away from murder at all times while glaring at Seph even as Clarus and Regis argue over where to house them for the three days that will be secure and how to keep this from getting all over the media.
-Finally Cloud snaps at Cor that if he has a problem, come out and say it. Everyone stares at him in astonishment for reasons he can’t fathom (yet) and finally Clarus explains that the Titus Drautos in their universe was a traitor who tried to assassinate Regis and conquer Insomnia. Seph blinks very slowly at that because wat. Why would he work for the people who experimented on him AGAIN. Then he realizes that without his past life memories he probably would have been brainwashed into it yeah. “I can see that,” Seph muses aloud while Zack sputters and Cloud spaces out dangerously at the distance. At the sudden tensing he waves a hand and drawls, “Niflheim and I do not get along.” He pauses, then adds just in case it come up somehow, “I cannot speak for your Titus, but I was forcibly captured out of the Crownsguard, experimented upon, and implanted with an armor unit codenamed Glauca. It did nothing to endear them to me.”
-Zack flings his arms around Seph’s and yells loudly before anyone else can say a word, “He’s mine! You gotta problem with them then fight me!” Zack pauses then adds, “Actually, you gotta problem with him then I’ll sic Prom on you.”
-“I don’t think that’s a very intimidating threat unless you know our Prompto,” Seph points out dryly but Zack loudly shushes him.
-They end up in a guest suite meant for visiting royals, with a few Crownsguard outside to make sure they don’t leave and aren’t disturbed. Of course, because their luck is their luck, the rumors have spread far enough that Regis, Cor, and Clarus are unable to run damage control before the Chocobros of this world hear about it.
-A day into their stay, Regis reluctantly takes the children to visit with Clarus, Cor, and Aulea all as backup. They enter to find all the furniture pushed to the far sides of the room, Titus on one end of the room, all three having what appears to be a mini war complete with battle lines. All three pause in their war, Noctis-Zack calmly dangling from Titus’s fist by his ankle while Prompto-Cloud lies sprawled near the door, feet up by his own head, arms splayed like he’s just been kicked in mid-air and didn’t have time to land right.
-“Are we interrupting something?” Cor asks stiffly. Noctis-Zack just laughs and Cloud attracts more than a few stares as he flips himself upright in a smooth movement utterly impossible for a Taur. Seph casually drops Zack without warning and the boy easily twists to land on his feet. Regis ... reluctantly asks if they would mind meeting their child counterparts plus a few friends, which Zack is all for and the other two fold to his whim. So Regis reluctantly lets the children enter. Noctis thunders up to Zack with bright eyes and gapes at his two-legged status while Cloud finds himself suddenly face to face with 10,000 Rays of Sunshine wearing his face and wagging a tail like a mad thing. Gladio trots up to Noctis while Ignis just kinda watches from next to the adults as the Nocti exchange greetings and then Zack hastily goes to extract Cloud from Prompto, because Cloud looks two inches away from a panic attack and stabbing is not recommended right now (Cor sees the sheer difference between his son and this human version and something in him growls. Why is the human Prompto so quiet, so alert and wary, watching everything, even himself, like it might attack?)
-Prompto deflates a bit at his counterpart’s silence and wariness, not understanding why and Seph breaks the tension by humming, “You know, Zack,” (who is Zack? The Taur adults wonder until human Noctis perks up), “I find myself a bit surprised. I would have been certain that your counterpart wouldn’t be a lion.”
-“Why’s that?” Noctis asks with a head tilt.
-Seph smirks, cool and smug and positively catlike, “Because he’s nothing but a big Puppy.”
-“Oi!” Zack yells but he’s laughing, “I make a great lion!”
-Cloud’s lips twitch against his will and he adds, “Well, this is another dimension. Some differences in temperament are to be expected.”
-Zack puts his hands over his heart with a gasp, blue eyes big and watery, “Cloud- Cloudy- My Cloudy Prompto Cloudy Spiky Buddy! How could you betray me like this??”
-Cloud just raises an eyebrow very slowly.
-Their banter is interrupted by a laugh from Prompto, “You guys are weird,” he says with a tail wag.
-Zack grins back and despite having known his son as a lion cub all his life, Regis can almost see the matching wagging tail on the boy, “You don’t know the half of it! Wanna play something?”
-The kids end up playing a strange mix of tag and the floor is lava (which Ignis RULES at because Ibex and Cloud rules over right behind him because Stubborn Mountain Boi) while Seph watches with fond eyes and finds himself slowly dragged into a conversation with Aulea.
-Some questions are exchanged and answers given, Cor snarls under his breath at the news of Prompto being given up to a neglectful home until finally being adopted by Cor where he belonged, and Regis and Aulea clutch hands when Seph slowly admits that Zack (they’re going by Zack, Cloud, and Seph to differentiate counterparts, claiming it’s an “in joke” and “nicknames”) hasn’t noticed her because he doesn’t recognize her. Queen Aulea died when Zack was a year old.
-But it’s not all sad things with the adults, Seph tells them little anecdotes of his world, and Regis notes how much more ... mellow this Titus is. Cunning yes, and somewhat cold, but not pushy and angry. Much more patient, and there is clear devotion in his eyes as this Titus watches his Noctis and Prompto play.
-Cor ends up sparring with this Titus, because Seph isn’t going to turn down the chance to Throw Hands with a cheetah man anymore than Cor will a human.
-It’s a tie that ends with both of them wheezing and tired on the floor.
-Cloud ends up falling asleep at one point and Prompto flops down next to him and soon they are both out and cuddling. All the Pictures are taken.
-Regis and Aulea are bemused and horrified by just how much of an Energizer Bunny Zack is. Like- HOW. Where do you store it all child and they thought Prompto was bad in his puppy stage.
-The three days end and the three disappear as swiftly as they came, and Zack is gleeful to have all the photo evidence Seph thoughtfully took to prove that YES they went to a world with Taur people and LOOK DAD YOU MAKE AN AWESOME LION. SO DOES MOM. SO DO I. AND HAH IGGY IS A GOAT (Ibex, Cloud corrects with a sigh and is ignored by Zack).
Tagging @robininthelabyrinth because I’m pretty sure Nocturne is your fic? Hope you don’t mind this little silly xover. I just loved the story too much to resist.
