The Poet
I'm inspired by her words
I read a bit into her world
She's loved and lost
I was entranced as I devoured every syllable,
every letter into word, she so delicately weaved.
Sewing her pains into artful expressions
and I'm with it.
Yeah, i'm with it, I sympathize with parallel sentiments
And as I read through her sentences
I felt it was evident
She's a survivor,
And I admire her.
It's like weightlessly watching the earth from space
She's illuminated by the suns rays
There is more to see if you dive in and explore
I've only scratched the surface but I wish to know more
We've barely even spoken but i'm smitten
by her Poetry
I've rarely been entranced but I find myself
in this soliloquy
I'm infatuated by her beauty, by her grace
and by her seemingly everlasting ways
Of...expression.
I feel a cooling mist surrounding me
I feel the ocean's spray, the salty sea
Creep up to shore and touch my toes
I'm sitting watching patiently
the cracking crashing waves waving wildly
This is the feeling she produces
This is the feeling that protrudes
through my quivering pores
When I read the words of the poet
I've come to adore.

“In the almost two years that have passed since the revelation of my own power, I have trained myself in the art of its use. Like any talent, I didn’t quite know what to do with it at first; like any warrior, I have collected enemies and allies alike. // If I should have a daughter, I will tell her like I tell myself each waking day: in the right hands, a poet and a mic are as good as a gun; there is no one more powerful than you.”
— “What Freedom Taught Me,” (26/30) by Irene Vazquez (via freethepoets)

I was wine and you were whiskey Nearly melted when you kissed me
Stood on tiptoes Stole one more
Didn’t look back Closed the door
I kept a souvenir from you On my neck, red and blue
I was wine and you were whiskey And I made damn sure you’d miss me

Medicine
These aren’t candles in the summer breeze This is a furnace built by our friction piece by piece Skin to skin, savory fruit burning within I’ll take a bite no matter what It’s not a sin, it’s medicine I’m taking in, we know that I’m gulping down this momentary bliss I’ve sought to find To calm the loneliness inside, as we collide to explore the explosive ways of our delight We break the rules that others so faithfully abide And then the calm follows through and finds… us static in these messy sheets I look at you, you look at me, in the dimmed light ”So…same time tomorrow night?”

Embers
As quickly as
You dropped the match to
Light the fire
You doused the flames
With your deceit

The Jar of Epimetheus
It screeched, the blackened fumes Clouded the globe, time is null now. Panic-stricken woman, shaken arms Futile attempts to close the evils she had released It cannot be, i watch her curiosity Destroy the world Brother, o brother what gift is this This beautified bliss releasing all sins And only hope is left inside. What good is that if we cannot hide from the contents of her blunder. The highest power laughs in delight at our hysteria. You took the light, they gave us darkness You risked your life, i feel us asunder And slowly we fall… Pandora, she is the end of us all.

Part 2: When Stars Collide
When stars collide the last bit of light
brights in the ethereal permanent night.
One last look at our celestial bodies and you all will see our oddities that (s)he and I fell in love with.
When stars collide, destruction is nigh but from
the chaos of crashing suns, the calm will come ever so slowly and the bits and pieces of our aftermath will merge together as one.

Part 1: When stars collide
You can drop the benzene from the 5th story window You’re the only fire starter that I need The only fuel that can run my engine 3-8-3-6 miles-per-hour, we’re running up the tower We are the climactic scene, The cliffhanger in a season finale of a hot show entrancing millions of eyes around the world. Time couldn’t go any faster if we tried, and I know now what it feels like when stars collide.

Letter to One Love
I pretended not to know so I needed an excuse to show myself in front of you in that store. I panicked, I grabbed an item pretending to invested when In truth my composure was slowly being bested. Four years since I last saw you. You looked different, tranquil and focused, you were glowing. I knew then like I've always known that I never deserved you. That love, it transcended logic. That love you had, I turned it tragic. I lit the fuse, the wind - it blew the accelerated truths expended the length to reveal who I was with my lack of strength, back then. Back then, when I thought you'd love me forever and the thought of losing you? Well... I could never.
I
          Was
                         So                                       Wrong.
I was too young to understand what it meant to love. To befriend you, to love your mind first and not second. Maybe it's selfish to seek you after all this time. Maybe I'm mad to think you'd even consider speaking to me. I, the aggressor made myself to be the victim. You were cruel in the end but rightfully so, I know this know. And after all this time I'm reaping what I sowed.

Flower
Strike that pose against the wall while the
dimming moonlight projects your shadowy silhouette.
You keep me at the edge of the bed - the edge of our world.
Your curves bend my will and my knees to the floor.
I can portray what I saw that night in a delicate way.
She's a gem to the very core.
The gleam of her curvature makes a man unsure
for what's in store.
Lust filled eyes gaze your way, your welcome gape begs me to stay
And with stern intention, I begin to pay close attention to every little detail of your being.
It's vivid and I can relive it if I just close my eyes...
The candid lights, the sultry heist, of your garden's bright petal blooming.

The not so broken man
It's the gravity of your indifference, it pulls me closer.
It's your ever-shifting demeanour like a rainbow clover but, I sense falsity in the calm of your tone.
Black specks in the evergreen clue the zones that I have not explored. A new light shines on crooked doors, readied mind for what’s in store.
See, I've realized I rather look at my emotions than feel them and pour them into a vial like some twisted potion. So vile, passionate and turbulent like a shaking ocean.
You are a passing earthquake that permanently left chasms in my heart.
And it’s now severed, you’ll think me clever to give the pieces away.
I’ll keep it simple for you:
                    You've lost, o how you've lost.
You had my all. You're insane to
let it all go, to fucking waste, it was
- all in vain.
How's it taste? The bitter end.
Is it sweet to break the chain - you loosely held?
You look at me and this bleak - attempt to weld us back together.
With hopes and dreams you helped - me swell, you stuffed me up.
                    Sincerely,
Your so-called, bird of a feather.
So the fragments of my heart, they're ready for delivery.
I've been prepared from the start for this change in scenery.
You aren't the first, don't flatter yourself.
You're definitely the worst, I know this well now and - I'll say it out loud, I will scream towards the cosmos.
Push my chest out proud, you're a contagion of ardent pathos. A mountain of mourning that I've overcome.
I've made it, I've done it and now that you're gone
You're probably thinking that I cannot move on.
In this simple rhyme, I can tell you-you're wrong.
You were part of my soul song but now a blurred lyric, so I'll keep lilting along with one less line, one less line in my spirit.

The Psalm Of Your Breathing
I have seen prayers fall from the sharp-edged beaks of wild birds and made them my own without a bit of shame. I have sensed something that resembles eternity in a grove of old-growth cedars and paused to bow before the gathered souls of the ancient ones. I have felt my warming blood in the morning sun after a long night of cold and heard my body rejoice at living another day. I have been touched by all of these quiet miracles, but nothing has moved me more than the gentle folds of your body as you gather me into the psalm of your breathing.

On
I have thoughts not so saint about your curvature and your silhouette. Do you even know how the effects of your glow don’t make any sense? It just happens to raise my hair, well…among other things. The way that you’re sculpted would make Aphrodite jealous I swear. The way that your curls bounce without care, I can’t help but stare.
And,
I could compare you to the seas and to the skies.
And,
I could compare you to the moon and its light.
And,
I could compare you to the feeling of flight.
And,
I could compare you, I could compare you to all the beautiful things in life, like music, like songs. But, The truth of the matter is, you really, really turn me on.

The Rapids
I’m falling for you but I can’t let you know.
It’s as If I’m in a raft with no oars to row.
A one-way direction where the water-falls,
A moment of panic and time stalls.
I regain my composure and follow the flow.
I’m falling for you, so into the waterfall, into the waterfall I go.

You are, you are.
You’re a carnal adventure, you’re the very reason my heart beats. 100 years into the future and you’ll find our love still breathes. You’re a book with infinite pages that I’m bent on completing. You’re a cinema which with every angle is the perfect seating. I’m binging on the contents of your consciousness, content with the counting of your every breath. Burning blood inside me it’s the passion, the path of your lasso, the art of your existence is like a lost painting of Picasso. You’re the spark of Renaissance, the real-time inspiration for this elated and elevated state of mine. So, stay one time and realign, with me. Sync and melt with my soul, it’s so sublime, you see. Skin to skin, it’s not a sin to feel this savory, sensual, succulent way to make our next of kin.
You are my life’s endeavor. You put me on tilt, I’m on the fence holding back this tremor, my tremoring. You are and you are my everything.

One Love
I've only known one love
I sickened and haunted, by one love
the countless poems, to one love
the many times I've called her, my dove
but she isn't here, and it's my obsession
its the fear and the lost possession
of one love, how soft I'm left
how regret, instead dug deep into my head
and spread and fed on my insides
so I'm empty, and I can't see ahead
the future melted from my eye sockets
our ending belted and I was the cause-
and effect and I'm dead in your head because
you found out who I really am
