Pride Month is upon us again and so it is time to repost my little guy, Hue! I’m wishing everyone a safe, supportive, positive, and enlightening Pride, whether you’re all the way “out” or not!

go ahead, call me pathetic. so what? you fed me scraps and i always came back hungry for more. so what? i whimpered around the muzzle of your hands like i didn't have teeth sharp enough to bite through bone. so what? i licked my own wounds like a dog and grew a taste for the blood. even a chokehold can feel like an embrace if you believe in it hard enough but there is nothing gentle about this—no way to make poetry out of the way you left me stranded.

so what? i could've loved you for the rest of my life like that, if you let me. that's what.

What is... dead dove?

Dead dove, do not eat - this is often found in the tags or the notes of a fanfiction. It is basically a warning sign.

What the author means with this is that the reader should take a closer look at the title, the summary and the other tags, because what they can see there is exactly what's going to happen in the story. These stories mostly contain themes that are sensitive or can be disturbing for a reader.

It's an author's way of saying: "I tagged what's going to happen in the story, so don't be surprised if those things happen."

COSMOS

Space scares me.

And I used to think

It was because

It would be terrifying

To be lost to its emptiness.

But now I know better.

Space scares me

Because it is hard to tell the difference

Between it and myself.

I am a yawning vacuum.

My nerves are galaxies,

Sparking and bright,

Synapses firing

A thousand thoughts a minute.

But there is a multitude of nothing

That far outweighs

The tiny systems

Of planets and stars.

Of blood and emotion.

I am a black hole,

Sucking the light

Out of the world.

It’s hard to kill a black hole.

Trust me, I’ve tried.

And yet, somehow still,

I persist, I exist.

I am scared of space.

It is airless and dead,

Lethal to any living thing.

And we are the same.

I’ve been writing poems for nearly a year now as a form of self-therapy. This is one of the more recent ones I’ve written and definitely a favorite. Just felt like it was time to share some of these.
