There is a murmuring as they cleaned after their performance two months later. Yuuri looked away from Yuuko who’d come to say hi with Takeshi and the triplets to the thinning crowd behind them. A few people had slowed to a stop. Others stared as they walked out. All focus seemed to be on a boy shorter than he was with blonde hair and piercing green eyes that seemed directed on him . Yuuri felt his heart stutter painfully at the way it seemed so familiar. This was the boy he’d seen sometimes in his dreams. He was sure of it. And for the first time since waking up in the rain, he knew they’d met before. They’d met the night he fell.

“That’s Kouki,” Yuuko whispered, awe in her voice. He turned to her in confusion. That was the name Minako had called Kou’s kirin, wasn’t it?

“The kirin?” Yuuri asked, just to be sure.

Yuuko looked at him and nodded almost violently. Then her eyes were drawn back to Kouki. The boy walked toward them with a purpose. He seemed angry for some reason. It terrified Yuuri to the core. But he stepped forward nonetheless. “Kouki?”

That had Kouki stop dead in his tracks, surprised. “You know my name?” He seemed unsure about his own question. It felt weird to Yuuri to hear him that way.

“Yeah,” Yuuri said. “A friend told me it. What are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here?” Kouki seemed incredibly angry now and Yuuri flinched. From the corner of his eye he saw the other troupe members send him a concerned look. He raised his hand to tell them he was okay. Viktor still walked over to stand next to him, which Yuuri appreciated. It helped him stand a little taller in the face of Kouki’s wrath. “What are you doing here, idiot? I’ve been looking everywhere to find you again only to find you within Kou’s borders performing !”

Yuuri frowned. “Because it’s where I belong.” Kouki scoffed but he refused to back down here. He was right . Though Kouki’s presence here in front of him and the feeling he’d seen him before told him he’d have to leave to wherever Kouki took him, he was right . The trees had led him to this group for a reason. Eventually, he stayed because it was where he wanted to be. In a world he didn’t remember, he found his place. He reached for Viktor’s hand and squeezed it. Viktor squeezed back. Narrowed green eyes followed the motions. “It is ,” he said firmly. “These people are my family. I love them.” Georgi let out a coo that had Minako rolling her eyes and Yuuri smiled.

“And you would do anything for this family?” Kouki asked.

“I would,” Yuuri said without hesitation.

“Fight youma for them? Die for them?” Kouki asked.

“I would,” Yuuri said. He almost had, once. With nothing but the certainty that he would die.

“And the rest of the people? The kingdom? You would care for this land, even in the muck and in the lowest positions?” Kouki asked.

Yuuri didn’t answer right away. This question felt bigger, and though Yuuri felt he knew in his heart what the answer would be, he wanted to think about it. He thought about what Minako had once told him about the heavens’ chosen ruler. About the trees’ tests. About the Nishigori family and the other people he had met. “I would,” Yuuri said and knew it was true. “I’ll do my best with the people beside me, if they’ll help me.”

“Of course, Yuuri,” Viktor said. Yuuri looked away from Kouki to smile at him. When he looked back, he straightened and met Kouki’s eyes.

“I’ll do my best at whatever you need me to,” Yuuri said. “Even if it means doing the dirtiest jobs or fighting. If it’ll help- If it’ll help the kingdom and the people, I’m willing to do it.”

Kouki tilted his head at that. Then he nodded to himself, a decision made. He bowed before Yuuri and Yuuri felt certain he could hear rain pounded against a metal roof despite the lack of rain and metal. “I swear never to desert my post before your throne. I promise to serve you and help you serve. I pledge my loyalty to you as long as you reign.”

There was silence in Yuuri’s ears. Like all the air had been ripped from the room. The first words were an echo of a memory that felt like a lifetime ago- but while then they’d been harsh and impatient, they sounded respectful now. Maybe Kouki had only then agreed with this decision. And if Kouki agreed, Yuuri tipped his head toward Kouki and this time responded without prompt. “I accept.”

Boku no hero academia - The characters and how they interact. I could not care less about canon.

Harry Potter - Fuck JK.

DC - I started watching Arrow without knowing it was a multiverse nor that it was DC. Fell fast and fell hard.

Batfam - Do not confuse with DC. Again, I could not care less about canon.

Jason Todd and Tim Drake.

Criminal minds - I have watched the 15 seasons. Five times and counting. In several languages, for shits and giggles.

Spencer Reid.

BTS - this hyperfixation ended around 2019 but I still know the fan chant by heart.

Stray Kids - my freaking MOM got me into SKZ. Now I have a tattoo of a compass and would sell an organ (mine or otherwise) to meet Bang Chan.

1. What does Renegade mean to you?

Renegade has, in all honesty, probably changed the course of my life! That's not hyperbole--it's had such a huge influence on my hobbies, my friendships, my academic trajectory, even my career. I was still in undergrad when I found ASH's post on fanbinding, and I was very lost as to what the next steps would be. And like so many others experienced, the pandemic only made things even murkier and more isolating. Then I found ASH's manifesto in June 2020, worked up the courage to join the Discord in July 2020, and found a community of like-minded weirdos who were just as passionate (if not even more so!) about their favorite stories, and a craft that I fall a little bit more in love with every day (well, most days. fuckin printers man XD). I wrote my honors thesis thanks to Renegade; I've made lifelong friends thanks to Renegade; I have my current job, in a field I love, thanks to Renegade. (My first Rocky Horror Picture show at Havencon 2022? All thanks to Renegade :D) This really feels like my forever fandom home-- even when I jump around from fandom to fandom, there's always a wonderful and supportive community to fall back on. In short, I really love it here, I'm so pleased with what we've done so far, and I can't wait to see where we go! ❤️

2. Favorite Fic

As everyone else who answered this, this question is IMPOSSIBLE. However, if you put a gun to my head and told me to answer right now, I'd have to say Tell Me About the Big Bang (my binding of it here!) It's one of the fics that has touched me most deeply and which has probably had the greatest influence on my writing. It was one of the first fics I'd ever bound, and I really wanted to rebind it to see how far I've come!

3. One thing you'd like to learn more about

GOD SO MANY THINGS. Backing! Headband techniques. Chisel trimming. Edge gilding. Tiny books. More advanced Cricut techniques. More cohesive and professional-looking graphic design. This hobby is really a dozen hobbies in a trench coat, and there's so much to explore.

4. Paper!

For my textblocks, I use 20 lb. cream Hammermill paper! I order it in 11"x 17" and get it cut in half for short grain, like a lot of other folks at Renegade. Recently I've started experimenting with quarto-sized Legal (8.5"x 14")and fell in love. I also want to try a bunch of the other paper that folks have suggested (looking at @robins-egg-bindery Mohawk Via o.o). For my endpapers, I usually use scrapbook paper from those scrapbook paper packs you can get at Michaels and Joann's (and when they're on sale...WOOF)

5. Cloth!

DUO BOOKCLOTH MY BELOVED. God I wish I'd gotten in on the Renegade group order - but ah well. Big fan of making my own though! There are just so many options to choose from, so it really expands what you can do (again: a dozen hobbies and crafts in a trench coat)

6. The Glue War

LOVE me some PVA! I know that it gives you less time to do things, but I get impatient XD. Plus it's cheap and easy to find and ready to use right out of the bottle, which is great. I've tried my hand at making starch paste + PVA with very mixed (ha!) results, although I had a wonderful time with some methyl cell that @simply-sithel gifted me at Havencon last year <3 So mayhaps will have to buy more of that for a future project!

I also love my Cricut Explore 2, Charlotte! She holds up very well, although I think she's due for a blade refill soon. I've just been setting my pressure higher and higher LOL

7. Machines

Love my Epson ecotank! I recently bought it--for the first two years I was going to my local print shop because the quality was great and I had a discount card. Unfortunately the discount card eventually expired, so I decided to bite the bullet and get my own printer. I really love it! I didn't want to have to deal with laser and printing in color can get pricey--the cartridges are just so goddamn expensive, although I do think laser prints in higher quality. Mayhaps a future purchase, because I'd really like to experiment with foiling!

8. Favorite binding technique

Ooh this one is interesting! I know which part of the process I enjoy the most, which is sewing! Kettle stitch my beloved. ALTHOUGH I am a sucker for the French link too--it's just so pretty! And we just had a wonderful workshop put on last week by @queercore-curriculum on their...embroidered binding/long-stitch binding (??? I don't know if there's an official name for it yet), which I LOVE. Glueless bindings are SO cool and I would love to experiment more with them.

9. Your best tip/trick

Ooh! Hmmm...I'd say: never bind while you're super tired/hungry LOL. I've made many a preventable mistake very late at night because I wanted to get something cased in or glued before bed when I probably should've waited till morning XD That being said, on the flip side I think you should never be afraid to experiment! Go hog wild!!! Use those glitter pens!! Try out that fancy silk for your endbands!! Try that new binding style! And if you fuck up, remember that's okay too! These are handmade objects and those mistakes are proud proof of that, and of your journey as a fanbinder. Stick 'em in the channel on the Discord, laugh and (maybe cry a little XD) about it, and then keep going. tldr; ya live and learn!

10. Favorite Detail

Ooh, this one's hard! I love leaving little Easter eggs in my designs. I'd say my favorite is putting my maker's mark on things! My imprint is Moonham Press (a fun mix of my usernames, chubsthehamster and chubsonthemoon), and the logo includes a little crescent moon. I'd actually been binding for about two years when I finally made the imprint--I used to think that it was...idk, kind of weird to put myself in the book? Like I was taking away from the story inside it. But then I got to thinking--well, hey, I'm the one who made this book, right? If nothing else, putting my mark on it tells someone who may pick it up one day that I was connected to this story. Some conversations with some folks at Renegade during Havencon 2022 also helped me embrace this. So these days I put my imprint logo in the typesetting, and I also put it on the cover somewhere! My favorite spots are either on the spine, between the title and author name, or on the back cover, in the bottom left corner :D

11. Spines

Spines are the bane of my existence. Haha, jk. They're mostly just tedious, since they're one of the only parts of the process that still require precise measurement (I've cut templates for everything else by now, and I use my guillotine to cut boards, so that goes super fast). For my thicker books I use Bristol board; I actually still use the same sheets I bought in 2020 when I first started binding--I didn't know how much I would really need so I think I ordered four massive sheets which will probably last me for ten years LOL. For my thinner books, I use Davy board, which is a pain to cut but gives the book a really nice board feel. And for my paperbacks, the spine is just the cover, which I make out of kraft paper for the backing + the decorative paper (usually scrapbook paper or something I've designed and printed)

12. Mistakes/Fails

Ooh BOY are there many. My most recent was my experiment with making a hardback quarto letter. I made the hinge waaaaay too small so when I tested the case the textblock was sticking out of it LOL. But I've been pretty lucky--this is only the second case I've had to remake in my time as fanbinder *KNOCKS ON WOOD*, but my printer fuck-ups when I was trying to figure out how to print on legal sized paper (since my printer doesn't duplex) probably make up for the luck I've had in the case department XD. Casing in, though--I think I've had maaaaaybe...two or three case-ins where I was completely happy with the results. A large part of this is because my guillotine doesn't cut completely straight, so my squares are never even LOL. But hey, I'm not getting paid for this, and I'm having fun, so eh.

13. Process

Ooh, interesting! My process has remained largely unchanged--I think the only thing that has really changed is now the frequency at which I print. I used to print at a print shop, so I'd make typesets in large batches--usually two to four books, sometimes more (I think the most I've done at a time is five?), and I'd make a day out of it. Now that I have my printer at home though, I can do things in smaller batches! I can also test print things, so I've been able to get a lot more experimental with my books sizes and my covers. Everything else has remained largely the same--the first book I did I typeset in MS Word, but everything after that I've all done in Affinity Publisher. I typeset > print > bind > take pictures! I really like how different each step is (like I said, twelve different hobbies in a trench coat), so there's always something different to do if I get bored. My favorite parts are probably designing covers and sewing the signatures!

14. Storage solutions

OUGH. I have one of those rollaway drawer thingies for all my tools, a dozen scrapbook paper containers, several large baskets for my vinyl and cloth, a hanging stand for my larger sheets of decorative paper, a standing desk which holds my Cricut and printer (a few of the aforementioned vinyl baskets are under this desk too), another rollaway basket thingy that holds my printing paper and my press (also under the standing desk), another desk which holds both my two guillotines and cutting mats (and under that desk are all my scrapbook paper containers and Cricut mats), and a final third desk where I keep all my sewing stuff and where I do my typesetting and other sitting-down parts of the process. And of course my shelves for all my books! This doesn't really give a sense of where everything is, but it's actually fairly organized, and for the most part I know where everything is (except for my FUCKING bone folder god that thing is always ending up in places I do not remember putting it XD)

16. Dust jackets and covers

Oooh, I've never made a dust jacket before--I don't think my printer could handle the wonky paper size that it requires, but they look really cool and I'd maybe be up for making one someday! And covers! Both my greatest love and my greatest enemy. They're super fun to design, but this is one part of the process that always feels like an uphill battle for me! There are so many skilled and talented folks in Renegade with GORGEOUS covers, and it's always a mix of being incredibly inspired and getting some design envy--but either way it's very motivating to keep me out of my comfort zone and to always keep trying new things. I use decorative paper and scrapbook paper mostly for the base material (although I've begun experimenting with designing things digitally and printing them out on Epson matte presentation paper), and then the rest is fuck it, we ball. I usually design the cover last, so I have an entire typeset and title page already when I begin, which makes things a little easier since I have an already established aesthetic to work with. My font selection is kind of determined by how small the text for the title/author name is, since my Cricut isn't great at cutting super small sizes (Times New Roman, funnily enough, is one of the only fonts that it can do at smaller sizes LOL so a lot of the text on my covers/spines are in TNR). I'm excited to keep improving and experimenting in this area!

17. Published inspiration

Ooh!! This one's fun--when I first began making my Master pages in Affinity publisher, I literally grabbed the first few books I saw on my shelf and said 'alright, this looks good' and haven't looked back since LOL. Those books were Vintage's editions of Toni Morrison's novels, Picador's Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, Vintage's edition of Willa Cather's The Song of the Lark, Fall River's omnibus editions of Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes's works, Penguin Classic's Deluxe edition of Jane Austen's novels, and a few others that I can't remember. I looked at all these books, found what they had in common (for example, a simple title page before the decorative title page, the use of a single graphic or design at the beginning of each chapter, etc.) and went with that! I don't usually take inspiration from specific books, EXCEPT for a project I'm currently working on which I'm super excited about :3 More TK here eheh (ADDITION 3/7: I was talking about Maybe sprout wings here LOL)

18. Illustrations

FANART MY BELOVED. I LOVE including fanart in my books, because it's such a lovely demonstration of the communal nature of these stories and it's so fun getting to collect all the pieces. For free use graphics my favorite sites are Adobe Stock images and Heritage Library. Heritage in particular has a beautiful selection of free vintage graphics packs that I've used for years now. And very occasionally, wingdings fonts will have something I really like XD

19. Favorite tool

Despite my gripes earlier about always misplacing it, I ADORE my bone folder. It's a funky lil dude and it makes all my edges nice and crisp! I can't wait for the retreat bone folder fufu :3 Also a very big fan of my guillotine, which despite its flaws makes my life a hell of a lot easier in the long run, as well as my presses, which were handmade by my dad and do their jobs very well (squiiiiiiish)

20. Favorite part of the binding process

Oooh, this one's fun! I really like the actual construction of the book--sewing sigs is always relaxing and has been one of my fave parts since the very beginning. Recently I've started to really enjoy designing covers, especially if there are a lot of physical elements (like layering scrapbook paper or playing around with Mod Podge).

I had the absolute privilege to hold @clovenhoofbindery's copy of Away Childish Things at Havencon last year. Literally every book Space makes I fall in love with, and her designs are a HUGE inspiration for me. Everything from the typesetting to cover design to physical construction--I lose my marbles every time.

21. Inspo: The binder that inspired you!

Ohhh this one's so hard! Literally every time I check the #show-off channel in the Discord I'm struck by so many beautiful books. I'm going to cheat and name a few people here, but this list is by no means comprehensive and doesn't even begin to cover everyone I could name.

Everything @pleasantboatpress binds is just so beautiful. Their color choices are always inspired and their headbands make me want to cry! Their bind of Unconditional in particular had me foaming at the mouth.

The quality of everything @zhalfirin-binds makes, likewise, always blows me away. Her books are so polished and professional, and her photos make me feel like I'm in a museum when I'm trawling her blog for inspo!

@simply-sithel's tiny books are literally the coolest things ever! I'm still working my way through the Binderary vids and I can't wait to get to hers. Six plays with form in mind-bending and truly innovative ways, and her blog is wonderland of tiny and fantastical book creatures.

@teleportbooks's binds are the definition of classy and refined. They're so good at designing their books according to the contents of the fic--their binding of Thirty-Three Lashes in particular is just the best design centered around fic content and title I've seen. Their designs always make me melt a little when I see them!

@no-name-publishing's endbands are to DIE for. Like fr I am in awe every time!!! And Kam's cover + title page designs are a huge source of inspo for me--forever in love with this bind of theirs, with the beautiful painted cover + matching endpapers T_T

And of course!!! I (and everyone else) wouldn't be here without our beloved leader, @armoredsuperheavy. He's the first binder that ever inspired me, and he continues to do so today!

22. Inspo: The fic that inspired you!

My original answer was also my answer for 27 ("First bind"), but I'm gonna say something a little different here! I usually know pretty quickly whether I'm interested in binding something, but very rarely has a fic gotten me hook, line, and sinker the way @that-banhus's King of Infinite Space did. Like, from the first line I was like "oh god I need to hold this one." And eventually I did! :3

23. Author spotlight: Someone you've bound

AHHHHHH this one is so hard too! I've bound a good number of authors over the years, many of whom are my dear friends, and to spotlight only a single one would be impossible. So I'm just going to poke @dodici12, whose killugon fic See You Upside Down is one of the best killugon reunion fics ever in my very humble hamster opinion. Hiiiii Tessa ilysm <333

24. Author spotlight: Someone you'd like to bind

OOOOOH. Many, many fics are in my queue. I'll keep them to myself for now, since I prefer to ask for author permission via DM, but atm I have my eye on a few Good Omens authors whose work I adore!

25. Favorite bind by you!

THIS ONE IS SO HARD AJLSKDJF. I love all my babies so much and I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish and what I learned from each of them. However, if you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose right now, I'd have to go with my most recent bind of Maybe sprout wings by @moorishflower. I'm really pleased with both its construction and particularly the curation of its contents, which includes the work of nearly a dozen people. It was my attempt at capturing the communal nature of fanfiction's creation and dispersal, and it was also my Big Project this Binderary. I'm ridiculously fond and proud of it!

26. Favorite bind by someone else!

THIS ONE IS SO HARD TOO HELP. Okay this is only one of my many many favorites, but dragging Space back out here again to say that her bind of Away Childish Things permanently altered my brain chemistry. Like, the cutout!!! The patronuses!!!! The title page cutout???? THE KEY??? Again, I held this book in my hands IN PERSON last year and I'm still not over it. The quality of the work is absolutely bonkers crazy incredible and I think about it Often.

27. First bind

The very first fic I ever bound was On Stranger Tides by @theroyalsavage. It's still one of my favorite fics ever today--it has the perfect blend of action/adventure, romance, humor, and fantasy. It gives me the good ol' "roaming the high seas with found family and magic and pirates" ache. It holds a very special place in my heart!

See 22! But for funsises, I'm also ridiculously fond of the binding before that, of @aboxthecolourofheartache's fic The Politeness of Princes, because I got to do lots of fun arts and crafty things with the cover!

This was my first year doing Binderary, and I had such a blast! It's so crazy seeing how far Renegade has come, from a little Discord for book shop chatting (ASH mentioned in one of the talks how it was just called, like, "Bookbinding Discord" at the beginning LOL) to now. We're well on our way to a proper organizational structure, with several yearly events, in-person meetups, and thousands of members all over the world. And we have so much more planned! It feels truly special, and I'm so grateful to everyone who makes this possible.

Jung Wooyoung : Golden

Pairing : Jung Woo-Young (Ateez) and named character (Kim Yuri)

Synopsis : Yuri is almost non-existent in her school, and the complete opposite of wooyoung. Wooyoung is the school's IT boy, rich, talented, loved by everyone and kind. They fell in love one day, and then yuri came to realize that they could never be together, they were too different from each other. And that causes her to get cold and distant. But does wooyoung think the same? Is he going to let her go?

A/n : literally just a drabble that I had written when I got bored from the exams. Nothing big, but I hope it's nice enough.

Yuri slid down against the wall as tears streamed down her eyes, her hands clenching and unclenching against her sweater's fabric. She hated high-school, she hated that she was the one everyone either avoided due to pity, or bullied due to being who she was. She hated that she had no one to love, no family no friends, except him. And he was too embarassed to be seen with her in public anyway. Or so was what she believed.

Wooyoung : you're crying again.

Yuri looked up as wooyoung walked into the storage room, his hands in his pocket and nonchalant expression on his face. Yuri sniffed and wiped her tears, shaking her head.

Wooyoung : why do you always wipe your tears away when I'm here?

Yuri : because I know you don't want to see it.

Wooyoung : did I say that?

Yuri : not everything has to be said, wooyoung.

Wooyoung sighed as yuri stood up, coming face to face with wooyoung as she asked

Yuri : do you love me?

Wooyoung : what sort of a question is that, yuri?

Yuri : I need to hear you say it, wooyoung. Do you love me?

Wooyoung : I do.

Yuri : then why is it that you don’t do that? You say you love me, but you're so distant from me. It's like you're…embarrassed of me.

Wooyoung : am I supposed to be?

Yuri : w-what?

Wooyoung let out a breath, running his hand through his hair before saying

Wooyoung : you keep saying people don't want to be friends with you, but you wanna know why they do that, yuri-ya? It's because you keep pitying yourself, you keep victimizing yourself for every little thing. No one would want to be friends with someone like that.

Yuri looked at wooyoung with hurt eyes, not having expected that from him. Wooyoung never said things like that to yuri, this was a first.

Yuri : wooyoung.

Wooyoung : you're the only one here who's embarassed of you, kim yuri. There's no one else.

Saying that wooyoung walked away, banging the door shut behind him as tears streamed down yuri's eyes once again. This was miserable.

Yuri kept her head down as she walked towards the school gate after school had ended, her hands held tight against the backpack straps as she heard other people laugh and play around with each other all around the school compounds. She had no friends to do that with, yuri thought.

Yuri looked towards the side as she heard the sounds of wooyoung's laughter, her eyes landing on wooyoung and his group of friends who were having ice-creams together while laughing at something someone had said. A few girls were also hanging around next to them, wooyoung smiling at something one of them had said.

Yuri sighed as she looked back straight, walking faster towards the school gates in order to escape from all this. But just as she reached the bus stand a few meters away from the school gate someone pulled her back by her bag, making yuri flinch as she turned around with frightened eyes.

Wooyoung : were you trying to run away, yuri?

Yuri visibly relaxed, wooyoung letting go of his hold on her bag as yuri stepped back and said

Yuri : I was trying to go back home.

Wooyoung : your parents are in Japan anyway, there's no one waiting for you at home. Can't you stay a while back?

Yuri : for what? There's no reason for me to hang around here-

Wooyoung : am I not a reason for you?

Yuri looked away as wooyoung said

Wooyoung : let me ask you the same question you did a few hours ago, yuri, do you love me?

Yuri pressed her lips together, pulling the bag closer to her before saying

Yuri : go back to your friends, wooyoung.

Wooyoung : I'm not going anywhere until I have your answer, so say it.

Yuri : wooyoung please.

Wooyoung : no why is it so hard for you to say it, huh? Am I not trying hard enough-

Yuri : it is not that, it is not you.

Wooyoung : then what is it?

Yuri : it's me I'm just…I feel like I'm pulling you back.

Wooyoung : what?

Yuri : it's like you said, wooyoung. I'm embarassed of myself, I'm ashamed of who I am and I keep victimizing myself. So I feel like by doing that, maybe I'm causing you unhappiness too. Maybe I'm pulling you back from all the happiness and love you could get from someone better.

Wooyoung : yuri that's not what I-

Yuri : it doesn't matter, because maybe we should stop seeing each other.

Wooyoung : yuri no. you can't just-

Yuri : the bus is here, I have to go now.

And before wooyoung could say anything further yuri had stepped into the bus, her eyes teary and distant.

Wooyoung : san-ah, do I really seem like I don't love yuri? You've seen us together, right? Do I not look happy with her?

San : you may look happy with her but I don't think she'll understand that without you verbally telling her, woo. She's clearly not good with human emotions.

Wooyoung groaned, throwing his head against the table as he said

Wooyoung : I can't believe she broke up with me!

San snorted, having a sip of his mango juice before saying

San : yeah, no one can.

Wooyoung : san, I want her back.

San : let me ask you then, woo, why exactly do you want her back? She seems so lifeless, wooyoung. She seems dull, distant, as if she's part of another world. I've never even seen her smile. Why is it that you like her so much?

Wooyoung smiled, looking at the half empty lime soda in front of him before saying

Wooyoung : I don't just like her, san, I love her. I love her for how kind she is, with people and with animals. You know the first time I saw her smile? It was when she was helping an old lady cross the road while she was walking to school in the morning. And the next time I saw her smile? It was when a cat had come up to her during break while she was sitting outside alone, and she gave the cat almost half of her lunch. I saw it from the rooftop, while I was with you guys.

San : and with you? Is she the same with you? Does she smile?

Wooyoung let out a breath, looking down at his hands before saying

Wooyoung : sometimes, not much. I try to make her happy and I feel like she does feel happy sometimes? But her self-esteem is too low, san. She thinks…she thinks she's some lowly creature that doesn't deserve to be with me. But why doesn't she get that she makes me the happiest, that if she were to leave me like this, I'd feel empty?

San : if you love her this much why don't you just tell her then, wooyoung? Go to her house, and tell her.

Wooyoung : right now?

San : it's only 6pm, and her parents are somewhere else, right? So tell her. Don't make it too late.

Wooyoung let out a breath, quickly finishing up his soda before saying

Wooyoung : thank you, sannie.

San chuckled as wooyoung rushed past him and out the café door, almost tripping over someone. San sighed, taking a sip of his mango juice before muttering under his breath

San : people in love…

Yuri had just sat down for an early dinner when her doorbell rang, her eyebrows furrowing as she walked up to her door. But as she looked through the peephole yuri's eyes widened at the sight of wooyoung, quickly opening the door as she scanned him for any harm. Was something wrong?

Wooyoung : hi.

Yuri : wooyoung?

Wooyoung : yes, wooyoung. Will you let me in? I'm freezing outside. Or I could just-

Yuri : no.

Yuri stepped inside as she opened the door wider for him before saying

Yuri : come inside.

Wooyoung smiled, removing his shoes as he stepped inside the house, yuri closing the door behind her before saying

Yuri : is something wrong?

Wooyoung : you're asking me?

Yuri : uh, yes.

Wooyoung : you're the one that broke up with me, yuri.

Yuri sighed, looking away as she said

Yuri : you know why I did that, wooyoung. We can't-

Wooyoung : no don't say we, this is all your thinking about us. What about me? What about my feelings, my heart?

Yuri : you can stop loving me.

Wooyoung : you think that's easy, just stop loving you just like that?

Yuri : I…I think so, yes.

Wooyoung let out a breath, walking closer to yuri as he said

Wooyoung : you're being stupid, you know that? Do you think you mean nothing to me, do you think I'm capable of just throwing you away like that? I love you, yuri, I've told you countless times that I've loved you.

Yuri : but I'm nothing compared to you, wooyoung! You're handsome, and I'm ugly. You're popular, everyone loves you, and I'm non-existent in that school. You can buy anything you want, whereas I have nothing-

Wooyoung : I don’t care, yuri! Fuck all that, fuck you being unpopular or not having as much money as I do! You're smarter than me, you feel for others better than I do, you're more aware than I am, and don't you dare say you're ugly. You're the prettiest woman I've ever set my eyes on. Are you so blind of my love to you? Have I not said enough?

Yuri looked up at wooyoung with teary eyes as wooyoung said

Wooyoung : fuck it, if you can't understand my words, I'll show it to you instead.

Before yuri could say anything further wooyoung shut her up with a kiss, his hands coming to place itself against her cheek as yuri's eyes widened. She closed her eyes as she felt wooyoung's tears fall against her cheek, realizing then how much she could have hurt him with her words. Wooyoung had tried giving her everything, despite the countless times she'd pushed him away. He'd always initiated first. Maybe…maybe it was now time for her to just give in.

Wooyoung pulled back as yuri breathed heavily, looking up at wooyoung as he whispered

Wooyoung : do you get it now?

Yuri pulled wooyoung closer to her, smashing her lips against his as wooyoung smiled. Her arms wrapped itself around wooyoung's neck, his wrapping around her waist as he pulled her ever so close. Yuri pulled back a few seconds later, whispering against wooyoung's lips

Yuri : I'm sorry, I'm sorry I kept pushing you away, woo. I was scared, I was scared I'd grow too close to you and then you'd leave me once you got to know how I truly was.

Wooyoung : I'd never do that, yuri-ya, I could never willingly leave you like that. I've seen you, and I love you. My love isn't so shallow for me to just leave you at small small things.

Yuri smiled, wooyoung wiping her tears as he whispered

Wooyoung : I hate hearing you talk so low about yourself, because no one gets to talk bad about the girl I love. Not even you, so you better be stopping it soon.

Yuri chuckled, resting her forehead against wooyoung's before saying

Yuri : I'll try.

Wooyoung smiled, running his hand along yuri's hair as he whispered

Wooyoung : you're not leaving me again, you understand? I'm sticking to you like glue from now.

Yuri giggled, looking up at wooyoung before saying

Yuri : wooyoung?

Wooyoung : yes, love?

Yuri : I love you, I always have and I always will.

Wooyoung smiled, leaning forward and kissing her cheek before saying

Wooyoung : I love you too. But…is that kimchi rice I smell baby?

Yuri laughed, smacking wooyoung's shoulder before saying

Yuri : yes you idiot, spoiled the moment also.

Wooyoung : I was hungry okay!

Yuri smiled, holding wooyoung's hand as she started leading him to the kitchen before saying

Yuri : then come with me, we'll have dinner together.

Wooyoung smiled and nodded, following yuri to wherever she was taking him. And that day, was the beginning of a love story that would last decades from then. A love, so pure and golden.

Starburst by dracoangelic and GingerD - Stardew Valley, Shane/Farmer - Literally the best fanfic I've ever read!!! The author's OC is one of the main characters and is so well done! The world is expanded in the best way. The ending is perfect. I can't say enough!!!

Dresden by hedera_helix - attack on Titan, Eruri - Historical/WW2 AU - The 2nd best fanfic I've ever read and the best historical au. The setting fits so well with the characters. The grief of the war and of being queer during that time period. There's so much here

Victor Effing Nikiforov by shysweetthing - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri - My favorite YOI fic and the best oneshot! It's cute, funny and has a great plot twist!! Love

This is Not a Courtship by midnightsnapdragon - MDZS, Xicheng, unfinished - WOW this is a recent fic but there's so much sexual/emotional tension that builds up so gradually and is SO well done

Les Mignardises by idiopathology - Detroit Become Human, Reed900 - best chef au, I LOVE this fic, I love food and I love reading about characters who love food. The best chef/restaurant AU that I've ever read

Eighteen Wheels on an Uphill Climb by blackeyedblonde - Detroit Become Human, Hankcon, Trucker AU - once again an au that fits perfectly with the characters! as someone from the us south, this fic is nostalgic and fun. A calming read with a sweet ending

Beneath Your Bones by cloudsmachinations - Thor Series, Thorki - I'm surprised it's taken a thorki fic this long to show up on my list but like I said many tough decisions were made. This fic is SO GOOD. I won't call it a soulmate au, because it's not, it's a host? au I guess but so well done. LOVE and my favorite thorki fic

Beside the Dancing Sea by lily_winterwood - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, selkie au - wow my favorite mermaid/selkie fic of all time and a yoi classic, unfortunately it seems it got deleted from ao3 and is in the process of being uploaded again

On My Love by RikoJasmine - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, unfinished - there's not many unfinished fics that made the list but - this one deserves to be here. A "back in time" AU that's famous in the YOI fandom. It's SO SWEET and definitely worth the read.

Unwritten by kaizuka - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Soulmate AU - my favorite soulmate AU of all time and a YOI classic. I'm pretty sure it was the first yoi fic I ever read. It's so good, sweet and fits perfectly with the series

Stormbreaker by ladylapislazuli - Thor Series, Thorki, unfinished - another "back in time" AU, Wow where do I begin, this fic is so well written and famous in the thorki fandom, the last and most recent chapter is my favorite, it hits so many emotions, shows so much character growth, Thor faces a lot of feelings about his family, unfinished but the feelings it expresses are worth the read

Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches by Reiya - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Enemies to Lovers AU - I think this is the single most well known yoi fic and for good reason, a slow burn enemies to lovers Victuuri AU, it's just so good

Not in Peace and Not in War by justrae2010 - Yuri on Ice, Victuuri, Historical/War AU - my 2nd favorite historical AU ever. The first chapter was originally written as a stand alone for a big bang and the writing in that alone is amazing!!

Animals by stereobone - Attack on Titan, Eruri, Prison AU - my favorite prison AU of all time, it fits so well with eruri and the burn is slow

The act of just being here by Euphorion - SVSSS, Bingqiu - a post canon fic, WOW I LOVE this fic, Shen Yuan having more character growth and letting himself love more, it's perfect, the writing is amazing!

What Gangsters Do by tristinai - Detroit Become Human, Reed900, gangster AU - this is a oneshot that's part of a larger series, however this particular fic is SO WELL Done, Nines goes from hating Gavin to loving him within a few paragraphs and just wow, that's writing goals right there

Just in it for the game by grim_lupine - Thor Series, Thorki, fake relationship AU - I LOVE this fic, it's hilarious, a post Ragnarok fic that's funny and sweet

A Matter of Cats by cato_universe - Detroit Become Human, Reed900 - this is a Nines centric fic and I LOVE it, such a comfort read, libraries, cats, and love

How long we were fooled by Ark - Thor Series, Thorki - famous thorki fic that looks at their relationship throughout the series and at thor's lightening powers, LOVE

I am terribly sorry for the wait. The draft deleted a few times and then life got in the way. I’m back on track amaing and I’m really sorry. But, without further ado, I’d like to give you some matchups. If you want any sort of headcanons about any of those relationships, feel free to sent an ask and I’ll add to the lore!

First, we have HAZBIN HOTEL and it was really a no brainer. I ship you with…

Lucifer. He’s absolutely the type to be intrigued by your reserved nature upon the first meeting and delighted when he gains enough of your trust that you feel comfortable being expressive around him. His curious nature and mind of an inventor work well with your thirst for knowledge. If you take time to look into subjects that fascinate him, he’ll be happy to talk with you for hours. Of course, he’ll look into the things that you like as well, like games or books you enjoy. To be fair, that would be the first obvious sign that he likes you. At times, especially at first, he would try very hard and worry about the way he was coming across. So he would try to think of ways to make a good impression on you and getting into your hobbies is definitely on the list. He’d also make you little gifts, mostly ducks. Kind of like a cat, dropping them off at your hands proudly but anxiously. Only, it’s less gross than a dead mouse haha. Also, any gift you decide to give him will be his biggest treasure. Every time you’re over he’ll have the trinkets from you on display. Honestly, he’s kind of embarrassed by that, maybe you think it’s weird or corny? He overthinks stuff like that a lot. Also, I think it would be a cute parallel to have you as a rule breaker (especially when you do it accidentally) and be with him of all people. Kind of sweet, because he’d feel a stronger bond with you. Needless to say, he’ll have your back no matter the consequences, even if it hurts a little (not because of you, it just reminds him of his past self). And as an immortal, he would be happy to indulge in any sort of passion for music you have. Hey, if you want, he can teach you how to play his instrument as well! He’s just going to be… a bit awkward about it. He just doesn’t want to come off as pushy! But he will absolutely cherish any sort of passion you two might share. I think Charlie would approve of you too (if we’re going full in with the divorced dad!Lucifer) and would try to help her mess of a father get the guy of his dreams. So, it would get pretty silly real quick

Moxxie! This was a no-brainer. This man would not think twice or question his feelings because you really seem like his type. Come on, a thoughtful, protective person who also can be an absolute nightmare to your enemies? Sign him up. He wouldn’t be the most confident about you returning those feelings, but he would be sure that he’s in it deep because how could he not? He would also vibe with your interests a lot. Be it discussing books with you or playing his guitar for you (not AT you, don’t worry) to make the evening more romantic. Also, once he starts feeling less nervous around you, his words of affirmation are top-tier. He works well as a balance to your more silly and relaxed nature, but even if he’s less extroverted, you won’t ever be bored with him. He would vibe with your style as well and maybe explore his own if you would like to lend him a helping hand. You two would definitely be like, kind of the parents of the group (which works well because Blitzø is more than reckless, we’ve all seen it) but also have your own silly moments that are still very much in line with the kind of job and place you live in (so, with a little bit of gore on occasion)

In CREEPYPASTA I see you with…

Eyeless Jack! Hear me out, I think this would be silly BUT also incredibly sweet. Like, goals. First of all, he’s a flesh-eating demon but usually, he’s portrayed as a tame (at least during casual encounters) guy with not much passion for socializing. Just imagine going about your day, chatting with friends, being your extroverted self around the people you are close with (since you said it can be different when it comes to acquaintances) and his bad-omen-looking demonic presence is just standing beside you. Absolutely iconic if we’re talking ship dynamics. Also, with him being the designated doctor, he’d appreciate your caring nature, with you being the parent of the group. That could be one of the ways that help you two to grow closer - he patches people up, helping them physically, while you keep their emotions in check. Soon he finds himself feeling lonely when you’re not hanging out with him while he does his whole healer-thing. He enjoys hearing your gossip stories and in a house full of murderers, there’s always something interesting going on. On occasion he even joins in, sharing the stories about your mutual friends. Confidentiality be damned, he will tell you about why Jane gave Jeff two black eyes (it was deserved). Speaking of which, if any of the guys (let’s be honest, this is still about Jeff) decide to be difficult patients and you swoop in to unleash your more aggressive side, he only falls harder. I think you two would get each other because you both have moments of insatiable anger and also sometimes want peace and think about deeper things. He’d definitely enjoy discussing those topics with you when there’s no one around to bother either of you

HOMESTUCK was a tough one, but I settled on…

Dave. I kinda debated that for a bit but I think it fits. There would be no instant love with sparks flying, but you would definitely grow to like each other. At first, it would be somewhat difficult because you’d seem a bit distant upon the first encounter, and let’s be honest, his whole cool-guy thing doesn’t always appear very inviting. But as time goes on, you’ll spend more time chatting one-on-one. Not to mention the events of the plot would help to bring you guys together, I mean, at least you're going through your bizarre experiences together. Rose would be the first one to notice (though the rest would follow soon after) that he seems to care about you more. Every time you’d try to be the mediator, attempting to bring everybody together and be the ‘dad friend’ he’d - in his own chill way - make sure that you’re not burning yourself out. He is the Knight, after all, being protective is a part of his thing. The same goes for your anger. I mean, he kind of likes that vibe, but if you just feel like you're about to burst from frustration, he’ll certainly try to redirect your thoughts. Not afraid to talk back if you end up snapping at him, but at the same time, his aura just seems really calming? And he wouldn’t insult you for real, I just mean that the guy can hold his own. Definitely would support your art and indulge if you want him to play some games with you. Generally, based on your interests I think you would meet through John, which also means that there would be a few times when you and John team up to do some practical jokes on him. Dave acts unamused, but up to a limit, he doesn't even mind. Especially not if it’s you

And lastly for OHSHC I match you with…

Umehito Nekozawa! I feel like he would greatly appreciate your curious mind and it would complement his own pursuit of (occult) knowledge. And as a way to show you his admiration he’d give you the strangest gifts that would be nonetheless endearing. The other thing that would make him fall for you would be how caring and helpful you tend to be. For a while, he struggled to connect to his sister and I feel like you could help him with that, which would be some nice setup for a fun romance arc. With a lot of mishaps because you know how he is, some things are bound to go wrong. But in the best way possible. And his determination plus your creativity would always overcome any obstacles in that classic writing style of OHSHC. I’d totally read that! Also, he would totally love your hair and would ask you to dye his if you know how to do that. Honestly, he would let you even if you lacked experience. Another thing that seems kind of small but works well for this ship is your love for rainy weather. He’s open to dates, though a little nervous, and your preference would make him feel less bad about his aversion to the sun. I mean, if you don’t mind the dark gloomy skies, either way, he can work with that to organize some nice, atmospheric dates for you two. And if you were ever interested in borrowing his clothes for some of your more edgy outfits, he’d be down for it. Nervous as can be (especially at the beginning of the relationship) but still happy to share his clothes with you. Also! He would be so into playing tabletop RPGs with you. Prepare to see him whip out the edgiest warlock every time he has to make a D&D character. And when he finds out about the Call of Cthulhu? You have no idea how into it he’ll be
