Yugi Moto Headcanons

Synopsis - Headcanons for our cute Yugi Moto.

Warnings - SFW.

Notes - All characters are 18+!

: ̗̀➛ You first meet Yugi at his Grandfather’s Game Shop.

: ̗̀➛ You were a new duelist looking for a set of cards to start your journey.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi had never seen you around before. You didn’t go to his university and when he was in school, he hadn’t seen you there either. Nevertheless, his mouth became dry and his face flushed the second you walked through the door.

: ̗̀➛ You explained to Yugi your situation. The tri-colour haired male had offered you help to create a formidable deck. He picked out all sorts of monster, spells and trap cards.

: ̗̀➛ “Thank you so much Mr….” You trailed off, realising you hadn’t gotten his name.

: ̗̀➛ “Moto. Yugi Moto,” he said proudly.

: ̗̀➛ You went pale. THE King Of Games?!

: ̗̀➛ Yugi couldn’t help but feel his heart beat faster as your lips curved up to offer him a shy smile.

: ̗̀➛ “What’s your name?” He asked, wanting to keep you there for a few minutes longer.

: ̗̀➛ “Y/N,” you replied.

: ̗̀➛ “It’s nice to meet you Y/N,” Yugi smiled and offered out his hand for you to shake.

: ̗̀➛ From that day on, Yugi was seeing you everywhere. It was like he couldn’t escape you both in his mind and in reality.

: ̗̀➛ He told his friends about you, the beautiful woman that had come into his Grandfather’s shop in search of the perfect deck. Of course Yugi’s friends continuously encouraged him to ask you out the next time he saw you.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was unsure of what to do. He wanted to ask you out, he really did, but he was afraid of rejection.

: ̗̀➛ The next time Yugi saw you was, once again, in his Grandfather’s Game Shop.

: ̗̀➛ You walked in in a huff, looking distressed. Yugi became immediately worried upon seeing your distressed expression. “Y/N… What’s wrong?” He asked as he made his way to the front of the counter.

: ̗̀➛ “I can’t play this stupid game!” You groaned, throwing your cards on the floor in a pile.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was slightly taken back by your… tantrum.

: ̗̀➛ “You can. Everyone can. The trick is to believe in the heart of the cards!” Yugi replied.

: ̗̀➛ “The heart of the what?” You asked, crinkling your nose up in confusion.

: ̗̀➛ “The heart of the cards!” Yugi said, pausing before continuing. “As long as you believe in your cards, and have faith in them, you can never truly lose.”

: ̗̀➛ You stared at Yugi as if he had three heads. You watched as he slowly bent down and scooped up your cards into a neat little pile, passing them to you with a gentle smile on his face.

: ̗̀➛ “I can teach you,” Yugi offered.

: ̗̀➛ You were shocked.

: ̗̀➛ “You? The King Of Games? Teach me? A nobody?”

: ̗̀➛ You couldn’t help but laugh slightly out of surprise, but when you looked at Yugi and saw a serious expression on his face, you halted the laughter immediately.

: ̗̀➛ “I guess it couldn’t hurt…” You mumbled, shuffling your feet on the floor.

: ̗̀➛ “Great. We’ll start tomorrow.”

: ̗̀➛ The next day, at noon, you met Yugi at the Game Shop. He started by teaching you the basics of the game, what sorts of monsters did what, what spells and traps did what etc etc. You were listening intently, making mental note of all the things Yugi was saying to you. From that day on, the two of you became inseparable.

: ̗̀➛ The next few weeks flew by so quickly, it was as if you had just blinked. With Yugi’s teachings you were becoming increasingly better at the game of Duel Monsters. By no means were you an expert, but you were getting better.

: ̗̀➛ “That was a great game! Well done!” Yugi encouraged. He felt his breath hitch in his throat as you offered him a warm smile in return.

: ̗̀➛ You see, over the last few weeks, Yugi had developed feelings for you and more than just the initial crush he had on you when you had first walked into the Game Shop. He was falling in love with you. You had gotten to learn all about him and in turn, he had gotten to learn all about you.

: ̗̀➛ His friends words constantly echoed in his head: “ask her out Yug’! What’s the worst that could happen?” So, Yugi took the plunge.

: ̗̀➛ “Say Y/N…” he said, watching as you placed your deck of cards in your pocket and hand him the duel disk he so kindly lent you. You looked at him and tilted your head to the side as if to say ‘yes’. “Would you… Maybe… Like to accompany me to dinner? Tonight?”

: ̗̀➛ You were surprised to say the least but didn’t think of it as anything more than a friendly dinner. “Sure,” you smiled.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi was shocked at your willingness to have dinner with him, but tried to keep it cool. He watched as you left the Game Shop and immediately began preparing for the evening. He booked a reservation at his favourite restaurant and dressed up all fancy for you.

: ̗̀➛ When you turned up at the Game Shop at 7pm, like you had agreed, Yugi was breath taken by your appearance. He always thought you were beautiful but there was something about tonight… He couldn’t put his finger on it, you looked even more stunning than usual.

: ̗̀➛ When you arrived at the restaurant, Yugi immediately found a candle-lit table in the corner of the room and led you to it, pulling out the chair from the table and offering you a seat.

: ̗̀➛ You blushed as he did this, a gesture you had never had from anybody before.

: ̗̀➛ Throughout the night, he ordered you some of his favourite foods and you just talked about anything and everything. You learnt even more about him, about how he got so good at card games, his family life… everything.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi found himself falling further and further in love with you as the night went on.

: ̗̀➛ Eventually, the two of you left the restaurant and Yugi walked you home.

: ̗̀➛ When you reached your home, Yugi took your hand in his. “I had fun with you tonight,” he stuttered. “We should do it again.”

: ̗̀➛ You grinned, your heart fluttering against your chest at the thought of dining with him again. You nodded excitedly.

: ̗̀➛ “Can I… Can I kiss you?” He asked. His eyes widened as soon as the words left his lips, but before he could take it back you pressed your lips to his firmly.

: ̗̀➛ Immediately, Yugi closed his eyes, letting himself fall further into the moment. His hands rubbed your forearms comfortingly and you hummed into the kiss.

: ̗̀➛ When you pulled away, you looked into Yugi’s eyes and bit your lip. “I liked that,” you smiled.

: ̗̀➛ He laughed. “I liked that too.”

: ̗̀➛ You said goodnight and walked into your home with a racing heart and red face.

: ̗̀➛ The next few weeks were filled with dates and surprises from Yugi but your Duel Monsters training never stopped. In fact, he seemingly pushed you harder, but this time would give you kisses as rewards.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi introduces you to his friends a week after your first date. His heart is just so full of love that he has to introduce you to the people he cares about the most in the world.

: ̗̀➛ His friends immediately become your friends. You click with them so well, it was as if you had known them all your whole life.

: ̗̀➛ News got out about you dating the King Of Games and soon enough, you both become the ‘Duel Monsters power couple’. Even though you were nowhere near as good as Yugi, wherever his name went, yours did too.

: ̗̀➛ His Grandfather absolutely adores you. He also teaches you a thing or two about Duel Monsters.

: ̗̀➛ You move in with Yugi and his Grandfather a few months into your relationship. It was Yugi’s idea, but you were more than willing to agree. You just wanted to be around him.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi proposes to you early on too. He has never met someone he had been in love with before, and he never wanted to ever again. You’re the woman of his dreams and he doesn’t want to let you go.

: ̗̀➛ You get pregnant before you get married. You end up having a baby boy and Yugi wants to call him Solomon, after his Grandfather. You agree, but end up calling him ‘Sol’ for short.

: ̗̀➛ Having a baby is NOT easy, so you and Yugi focus on raising baby Sol before anything. You decide to get married when Solomon is five years old.

: ̗̀➛ The ceremony is lovely, filled with both of your friends and family.

: ̗̀➛ Afterwards, you have a party that ends late into the night.

: ̗̀➛ Yugi and yourself head back to a hotel, with Yugi’s Grandfather taking care of your son.

: ̗̀➛ You and Yugi go on to have two more children, of which you get to name.

: ̗̀➛ You live happily ever after with the King Of Games.

✰ — IT WAS RARE FOR YOU AND SETO to spend time together, he was always busy with work, and when i say always, i really mean it. now he was finally free, well he still had a lot of work to do but he decided to take a break for the both of you.

✰ — “I MISSED YOU SO MUCH, you don’t even understand.” you whispered near seto’s ear, placing a gentle kiss on his temple, then on his cheek and near his lips. “believe it or not, i understand very well, babe.” he sighed in pleasure with his eyes closed. “i missed you too.” “really? i didn’t see it through that cold expression of your.” you giggled as he rolled his blue eyes before melting them into yours. “shut up, you’re such an idiot.” he kissed you before you could say anything.

✰ — SETO GIVES YOU a lot of kisses while you lay on top of him, tracing small circles and imaginary figures on his chest as it slowly rise and fall under your touch. you only stop the movements of your fingers to lay your hand on his heart, to feel it beating faster and faster. this makes you feel sort of ‘proud’ as you should, making seto kaiba’s heart beating like that.

✰ — TENSION STARTS GROWING BETWEEN the two of you, the feeling of wanting each other more is stronger than seto’s usually composed attitude or your attempts to maintain these moments soft.

ADHJKHFKJ Okay, continuing from this

After you began dating, Seto let the rumors swim around for a few more weeks, wanting to enjoy what little secrecy he had left with you

When he did announce that you two were together, suddenly you became an "influential" interest on social media

Your parents/guardians were pretty impressed

Seto by now has learned how to ignore the public, and if he sees you struggling with it, he'll help you

Mainly by having you create new private accounts and turning notifications off on the now widely known ones

But when you go out in public, he almost always makes appearances with you

He wants you to be safe, and the media is saying that you're getting him out of his shell

Kaiba isn't very...attentive? Emotionally he's just not expressive

Sometimes he'll hold your hand or whatever, but never in public. In the beginning of the relationship, in private, getting him to be physically affectionate with you was like pulling teeth

Seto sucks as a romantic partner LMFAO

He's trying his best-

Seto eventually learns the importance of physical affection, and will try to give you some at every opportunity he can

He's still the CEO, he's a busy man

Makes sure you're safe at school or with Yugi, makes you check in with him every hour

If you don't respond or check in, he'll send Roland out to find you

Will probably make you turn on your location after a couple scares lol

Seto is possessive, but not exactly jealous

You agreed to be with him, so you belong to each other. Not anybody else

Always has you matching his outfits, no matter the color

Would probably try to persuade your parents into letting you move in with him after you two have been together for a year

He's pretty serious about you

Seto doesn't attach easily to people, so once he gets with you he pretty much thinks that you're it

That being said, if he's so busy to the point where he feels like it's tearing your relationship apart, he'll set aside time for you, even if he has to work a little bit while he spends time with you

When that happens, he'll probably have you come to the office with him, so you can still be in his presence

He also just likes being around you

Will take a 5-10 minute cuddle break every like, four or five hours

He's at Kaiba corp for a long time

His sleep schedule is shit btw, so if you text him randomly at like, 2:30 am, he'll hit you with "go to bed"

Seto is a great listener when you need to vent to someone. But he isn't that great with verbal or physical comfort

If you want comfort from him, he'll ask you to show him/tell him exactly what you want

After so many times of this, he'll remember what you want and will eventually be able to comfort you without asking what you want

That goes for almost every area in the relationship btw

After some time passes, he'll learn to be a good boyfriend for you

After you move in with him, he makes sure half of his room is empty so you can put your stuff in

"Seto, why is half of your room emtpy?"

"It's our room now. Put what you can in here, but then we have to leave for a dinner date by 8." Seto checked his watch.

"Well...can you help me?"

"Sure. It'll go faster that way." Seto nodded.

He gets so good at the boyfriend thing, that sometimes he'll come back home to give you flowers for no reason at all

He also likes putting flowers in your hair if you're on a picnic, with Mokuba, on vacation, or just to see you smile

He just gets even better when one day he comes home with a ring

Seto is so busy with work that he never spends any time with her anymore, so reader starts to drift away thinking he doesn’t want her. She spends more time with Yugi and his friends, and Seto becomes jealous. Any free time Seto wants to spend with her, she now blows off to go be with Yugi or Joey or anyone else. Eventually Seto confronts reader, and everything gets sorted out in the end with cuddles and kisses. Thanks in advance! <3

Before you had even developed feelings for Seto you knew he was a busy guy,hell he ran one of the biggest companies of course he was busy. He hardly had any time for you anymore. It caused you to drift away from him and closer to Yugi and his group. Unlike the majority of the group you weren't a duelist,but you had always wanted to give it a try,since you saw how important it was to Seto. Since he was too busy to teach you the rules and optimal deck building,you ended up learning from Yugi. You had a lot of fun and learned a lot of things.

“Where are you going?”

“I told you I’m going to see some friends”

“You’ve been hanging out with Yugi and his friends a lot lately” He already sounded annoyed

“They’ve been teaching me how to duel and-”

“Why didn’t you just ask me?”

“Because you were too busy” You let a bit of annoyance come through your tone,snapping something in him. Just as you opened the door he slammed it shut.

“Then why don’t you show me what you got?”

“I barely know how to play,I can’t possibly duel you”

“You shouldn’t even be learning from those losers” He grabbed your hand dragging you to one of the many empty rooms. Handing you one of the duel disks.

“Didn’t Yugi beat you like six times”

“Y/N” You laughed at his reaction. You spend three hours dueling,not once did you even get close to beating him. “Told you,you shouldn’t be learning from them”

“Just admit you’re jealous that I spent so much time with them” His face was bright red,not used to being called out like this. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders “You’re really cute when you're flustered” Before he could say anything you kissed him,making him even more flustered.

DSB Sun Wukong with a Duelist s/o: Stardust Dragon

Here's a special part. How is it special? Well the main monster Reader's deck centers around is ready to take flight. Also part of this headcanon had been influenced by a dream I got one night. Can be read gender neutral or preferred gender.

Being part of the JTTW always meant that things would eventually get weird or dangerous. Nothing really new to you, mainly the danger because you were born in the Satellite slums.

Destroyed streets, gangs at every corner and corrupt cops ready to tag you like a dog then throw you in the slammer. Well used to as you manage to leave that hellhole behind but barely escaped getting a prison mark and end up here.

Anyway, the weirdness had gone up a bit in the form of Sun Wukong specifically his actions. As of late, he been acting very odd. How odd? Well...

It began with sudden touches. Brush you in some way whenever he passed by, wrap his tail around your waist or even pull you close. This usually being disguised as accidental or moving you from conveniently placed harm like about to step on a snake kind.

When no one else was looking he gave you some of his food and even rub his head against your shoulder or back. Oh, there had been the grooming too. A natural thing that monkeys tend to do but this felt more... personal.

The Monkey King only doing it to you and no one else. Always with an excuse at the ready if someone caught him in the act. Despite it being strange, it wasn't much of a bother. Monkeys are social creatures even if this one is a VERY OLD yaoguai.

Now back to the danger part, there had been a few occurrences where you get strange dreams. These nightly visions warning you of a threat that needed a specific counter, the Heart of your deck.

Such a dream had greeted you last night, much to the Monkey King's surprise. He was doing the grooming thing again so you suddenly flailing didn't help anyone. Had to tell the monk that it was just a nightmare.

Anyway, your fears became valid when another yaoguai decided to interrupt the journey. It wasn't the creature that made you worry but the artifact they held. A lamp that projected someone's worst foe... Oh no.

The yaoguai had tried to aim at the Monkey King but the stone monkey knocked it out of their hands... Right at you. And the worst had occurred as the artifact's light manage to scrape against your leg.

Duel Monsters is a game for everyone to enjoy but there were sick bastards who turn that innocence upside-down. One way is the involvement of dark rituals or black magic called 'Shadow Games'.

Something you had been dragged into once. With it, a monster that terrorized not only you but the people who didn't get out alive like you had.

Immediately shoving Tripitaka away from the beast that shot out of the lantern, intense dark blue flames forming a massive wall that burned fiercely. There it hovered above everyone: Beelzeus of the Diabolic Dragons.

Normally you wouldn't worry about fighting it but you weren't alone right now. None of them aware about this dragon's power to reduce every bit of their physical prowess until nothing is left. Looks like that 'method' is needed.

"Sun Wukong, take care of everybody. This bastard is mine." None of them having the chance to catch you as you charge through the flames. A chant being the only thing they could hear.

"Gather stars coalesce the hope of the world into a single shining star! The cosmos above please grant me the power of the vast stars in your sky. And travel the path its light shines upon! Synchro Soul: Stardust Dragon!!!"

Everyone watch a massive spiralling blast of wind rose from the flames. The pillar shattering into a stardust rain...and a dragon that shone just like emerge. You had taken the form of Stardust Dragon.

This is a power only you held amongst psychics: to become an actual Duel Monster. An ability used in emergencies cause it took a lot of mental and physical strength to maintain. Stronger the monster, the harder it was to hold.

Tripitaka and his disciples could only watch as you fought the dragon much larger than you. Sun Wukong kept them from interfering. He had complete trust in your abilities.

Stardust Dragon dodging the blasts of dark flames, slashing claws, and bites from the two giant dragon heads. Firing back with cosmic energy breaths, fierce stardust gales and your own sharp claws.

All of this was to build up enough power to send this hellspawn back to the scrapheap. It is how you took out Beelzeus the first time. Something that'll happen again upon goading the massive dragon higher into the sky.

From there, you focused all your power to let loose the coup de grace: Cosmic Flare. In game terms, it sends whatever monster Stardust Dragon attacks back to the deck. For this fight, the 'deck' is the lantern it came from. "GO BACK TO HELL!! COSMIC FLARE!"

The giant blast of starry energy not only sent the dragon back into the artifact but obliterated the object completely. Even the hellfire it unleashed was also extinguished leaving scorched earth behind.

You manage to gently land on the ground letting out a triumphant roar before your transformation broke apart. Thankfully Sun Wukong had caught you before you kissed the dirt. It was gonna take sometime to recover after using Stardust Dragon.

Or the constant questions from your friends. Turning into a giant white dragon without any warning is a justified reason. The questions thankfully saved once you fully heal.

For Sun Wukong, he couldn't get brilliant image of Stardust Dragon from his head. Something that preoccupied him while everyone else was asleep, your unconscious form next to him.

'To think such a beautiful beast dwelled within your soul. Befitting for my potential mate to leave stardust in their wake. Rest now my soon to be eternal star.'

That night, you were cradled protectively in the arms of Sun Wukong. An origami craft resembling Stardust Dragon nestled in his tiger skin. His dreams filled with shining stars.

And that's it. I did struggle writing this mainly finding a monster that Sun Wukong can't destroy. Beelzeus of the Diabolical Dragons felt perfect as not only can it not be destroyed by battle but card effects as well.

Thus leading to the spell card version of Cosmic Flare being the only way to dispatch the dragon. For anyone who doesn't know, Shadow Games are duels fueled by black magic. Taking damage during one causes actual bodily harm and losing a duel means your soul gets sent to a personal hell called the Shadow Realm.

It is something that occurred a lot during the series from the original series to 5Ds. Anyway that's it for now. Until next time folks, I'll see you back on the journey westward. Here's Beelzeus of the Diabolic Dragons and a better look at Stardust Dragon.

Story Plot;

(Y/N) Hijirikawa is a girl who loves music and is determined to join her school's band club, but her shyness makes it difficult for her to do so. Besides from that, (Y/N) is just a regular high school girl living in a regular world.

But that was until one day, she was playing a new card app game on her phone and was forcefully transported to another world where the card game "Duel Monsters" reigns supreme.

(Y/N) then finds out that she has been chosen to fight the mysterious "Dark Monsters" that threatens both Den City and the digital world "LINKS VRAINS". And (Y/N) can't return to her own world until she does.

After becoming LINKS VRAINS newest heroine "Cyan", (Y/N) somehow gets pulled into the fight against the hacker organization "the Knights of Hanoi" that also threatens LINKS VRAINS. Is there a connection between the Knights of Hanoi and the Dark Monsters? What adventures await (Y/N) during her mission?

DSB Sun Wukong with Duelist s/o: Ruler of Tuners

Official first part folks! No matter the iteration, Sun Wukong is the Monkey King. Whether it be normal monkeys, monkey yaoguai or both, he is the king. So this came in mind for this particular headcanon. It's mainly set in Sun Wukong's perspective so I hope it turns out good. Can be read gender neutral or preferred gender! Enjoy.

Sun Wukong curiosity had never been peaked so much for the entirety of his immortal life. Sure he seen all of sorts of wonders and indulged in its treasures. But none of them were like you.

It began with your strange contraption, a 'Duel Runner' you called it. And those monsters you brought to life from playing cards. The same type of card where you returned your device too.

For a mortal, you made this bizarre group even more stranger but in an appealing and manageable way. You didn't take shit from anyone, he wasn't an exception either. Threats filled with fire when certain lines were crossed.

The pig, Zhu Bajie didn't slack off so much under your watchful eye. You made a compromise that if he did some work each day, then you'll do his duties for the next. Never seen the flirt being so quick to work.

The group needed an negotiator as the monk wasn't the best at it. (Well more like his three yaoguai disciples go a bit overboard in their own ways.) Luckily you had the skills to do just that.

Negotiations were either peaceful or borderline threats depending on who you were talking too. The Monkey King really enjoyed the threatening ones as you brought your peculiar summons for extra assurance. (Especially when the one under threat soiled themselves.)

What made Sun Wukong the most curious is the smaller monsters that you brought out from time to time. Most barely reaching his true form's shoulders while a few were a bit taller or tiny to said form.

Some were mechanical, beasts of some kind, peculiar animals to even dragons. Tuner Monsters you called them and how you usually brought out the bigger more powerful 'Synchro' monsters. What was adorable is that you have nicknames for every one of them.

Amongst them all, you tend to summon one in particular. A small orange robot called Junk Synchron, one which affectionately named Tinker. To him, this strange creature is cute to say the least.

Always trying to assist in anyway he could. Tending the fire, gathering wood, or just try to provide moral support. Baldy definitely been more relaxed with the little 'warrior' around.

He did try to scare Tinker only for the machine to punch him in the face! "My little bud doesn't like scares. Not the first time he punched someone and it won't be the last." Duly noted. A decent punch though.

Speaking of you, these Tuners often flock around as if you were their ruler. Whether they were dragons, flying rabbits to even imps of all kind, love and affection were always shown.

Sun Wukong honestly chuckled at the thought. A pair of royalty in this makeshift disaster of a group. Who would've thought?

Maybe a courting ritual is in order. Your courteous reaction to his true form only solidified this thought further.

'Ruler of Tuners and Sage of Synchro'. Perfect title for the potential mate of the Monkey King, Great Sage Equal To Heaven: Sun Wukong.

It looks like the a certain stone monkey is thinking about courting Duelist Reader. He seems like the type to be invested in interesting individuals. *Looks at DSB*

Junk Synchron had been a big influence to the entire Synchro era, not just being a good card in general. Trust me when I say it's rare to come across a Synchro deck not running a Junk Synchron in some shape or form.

I believe the next headcanon might be the time where our Reader brings out their signature monster and takes the 'White Dragon Horse'.

note: based on a dream/nightmare i had months ago! still can’t stop thinking about it because it was so creepy and vivid, but also amazing because i rarely dream of fictional characters. so, here you ago!

All you can hear is the sound of your heartbeat, racing and intensifying with each breath as you run.

Your clothes cling to your form, wet from the rain that rages outside, and your feet feel uncomfortable inside the puddle of water that has built up inside your shoes. All in all, everything was horribly wrong — and the thunder in the distance roars as if in ironic agreement.

It is awfully cold, and the fog limits your vision. You never quite know where to turn, where to run and to hide, except when you are too close to a possible exit, nearly tripping on your own feet and on the mud beneath your soles. Every direction you turn to feels familiar, as if you had already run past it for the millionth time. You feel like you have been running in circles, stuck in a maze whilst unwillingly playing a game of cat and mouse.

It feels — and perhaps, it truly is — impossible to craft a perfect plan to escape from whatever is chasing your shadow, as it has been for what seems to be an eternity.

Your throat is burning, and each gulp feels dry. Whatever air you breathe and inhale, it feels too little, too light, and your legs are screaming for you to stop. But, you know you can’t stop.

Please, make it stop.

You cut abruptly to the alley that appears on your left, sparing a glance over your shoulder and immediately regretting it.

There is a silhouette — tall and haunting. Its steps, as it follows you, are slow, not unlike a predator’s. It’s as if that person (or whatever the hell it was) feels assured of its victory, assured that it can catch you, regardless of what you do.

In a split second, the light from a lighting post reaches its face and you see a calm but unnatural smile on its lips, wild lavender eyes narrowed in what reminds you of amusement. It does nothing but send a shiver down your spine.

So, you continue running. You run and you run, because, what else can you possibly do?

A chuckle echoes through the air, and you flinch instinctively. It’s as if it could hear your very thoughts. It could hear your thoughts and it could most definitely smell your fear, plausible in the air. Was your fear its goal, its motivation? Did it wish to drive you insane, make you beg for mercy once you had grown yourself too tired to move a single muscle? Did it aim to kill you, slit your throat and watch as you gag on your own blood, laughing as it towers over your corpse?

Please.

Stop this.

You turn right, ignoring how distinctively familiar the street looks — because, at this point, you are out of your mind, and you just want to put an end to everything.

But, fear can force people into making irrational decisions, which could have been avoided if they paid better attention to details they had noticed moments prior. Maybe, if your fear hadn’t taken over you, if your fatigue hadn’t begun to scream louder, you would have long remembered that this alleyway had already been labelled by your weakened brain as a very, very bad decision.

An imposing barrier stands in front of you.

This is it, your mind tells you.

This can’t be it, you argue.

But, in the end, there is absolutely nothing you can do.

Perhaps an eye trick, but the brick wall seems to grow a bit more, towering over your shaking body and mocking. Your chest hurts and you put a hand over your heart, shaking on your own feet as your legs struggle to keep your body upright for just one more moment. You take a step closer to the wall, and then another.

You nearly trip over your own feet again, as you approach the wall, and you place your hands over it, as if expecting it to be a mere illusion. You clench your fists, upon feeling the texture of the wall to be too rough, too real, and your nails scratch uselessly against it.

Please.

A beat, and footsteps.

You spin.

The silhouette stands at the opposite end of the alleyway. The moonlight draws its contour, and a flash of golden brings your eyes to an object on its right hand. However, you don’t dwell much on it.

No, you don’t.

Because as the reality of the situation begins to close on you, as you realize that this is truly the end for you, you find no strength to remain on your feet. Your back hits the wall and your knees shake one last moment as the figure takes one long but slowly taunting step in your direction.

‘Please,’ you whimper out loud, ignoring the metallic taste in your mouth.

The golden object glints in the moonlight, as it raises its right arm and—

You wake up.
