The Ivy, and After
(Yes, it’s another Artemis Fowl fanfic I’m writing that focuses on the lesser-liked Artemis Fowl, but also Angeline. All the same, I hope you’ll give it a read and let me know what you think.)
Artemis Senior gripped the ladder’s rung with such force that the wood creaked. He opened his mouth to speak, but then seemed to change his mind.
Now Artemis himself grew worried. “Father, you must tell me.”
“Of course,” said his father with a start, as if just remembering where he was. “I must tell you...” A tear fell from his eye, dropping onto his shirt, deepening the blue. “I remember when I first saw your mother,” he said. “I was in London, at a private party in The Ivy. A room full of scoundrels, and I was the biggest one in the bunch. She changed me, Arty. Broke my heart then put it together again. Angeline saved my life. Now . . .” (Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox)
Part One:
Artemis Fowl did not so much enjoy parties these days. He tolerated them.
Perhaps a few years ago, he’d be having a decent time. These big money functions may not be known for being particularly lively, but the food and drink was almost always divine, and there were always connections and deals to be made, far away from the eyes and ears of the common rabble. His father had taught him how to make many a beneficial deal over the years, but it was his mother who had really shown him just how to enamor himself with his peers for selfish gains. The cunning french woman had possessed a way with words and behavior that endeared everyone to her, and when he was younger he would watch carefully as she even managed to endear his openly bitter, despicable father to others.
But she would not be at these parties with him anymore. Instead, across the table sat his father with his second wife. The attractive and decently clever middle-aged woman wasn’t the real reason for his parent’s messy divorce in his late teenage years, but she was the reason his mother would no longer attend these functions on her own.
The Fowl family and their bodyguards had momentarily retreated from the crowd so Mr. Fowl could rest- his health had been declining steadily in the past few years. Artemis watched with a degree of exasperation as his stepmother feigned sympathy for his father’s fatigue with a delicate hand on his shoulder and a bat of her eyelashes. He did not hate the woman, but he felt no warmth for her. Overall, her presence was inconsequential. His father was too entrenched in tradition to give away his only remaining son’s inheritance to the woman who was comfortably riding out the last few years of his life. Once his father finally passed, she’d move on to the next opportunity, and Artemis doubted he’d see or hear much of her again. His father brushed her hand away, lighting a cigarette while complaining about the humidity in the room.
Deciding it best to turn his attention to anywhere else, Artemis lit a cigarette as well and casually looked about the room at the other party-goers who had separated themselves from the larger congregation in the center. An old oil baron sleepily reclined at the table next to them, a heavily chewed but unlit cigar dangerously close to falling from his lips. A little further down, two very old women occupied themselves by snidely commenting on the state of the party over wine. One of them clocked his gaze and sniffed haughtily, and Artemis respectfully held back a sneer before purposefully turning his attention to the other side of the room.
That was when he saw her.
She was a slim woman. Elegant, dressed in a dark blue evening gown that was the definition of tasteful yet alluring. Her facial features stood out to him among the many other women he’d seen at the party that night. Her cheekbones were high and pronounced; her nose could not be described as petite, but he realized that it was attractive in its own right. Artemis wished he could make out the color of her eyes. Were they green? Brown? Hazel? The light made it impossible to tell from where he currently sat.
A delicate gold chain fell around her neck and into the dip of her pronounced collarbone. Her bare arms were thin, but toned, and Artemis’ gaze followed from her shoulders down to her strong wrists and long fingers that made him wonder if she played piano. The rest of her body was obscured by the table she sat at, so he allowed himself to look back up at her face, and her hair.
Heaven, he thought. Her hair.
Her hair color danced along the fine line between blonde and brunette, and in an unexpected moment of primal lust, Artemis imagined those silky tresses curtaining his face as he nipped at the soft skin of her neck. He imagined those toned arms wrapped around his torso, her long, thin fingers trailing up and down his back before running through his hair as he worked his own hands down, down, down...
The young heir ashed his cigarette over the crystal ashtray and looked away, discretely flexing his thighs under the table and praying that nobody near him would notice the flush he felt blooming on his pale face.
“Are you feeling well, Artemis?”
Artemis silently cursed his stepmother as his father turned his dull grey eyes over to him.
“Perfectly fine, Margaret. A bit warm, that’s all.”
“Hmm,” hummed Aodh Fowl, “Is that all?”
Artemis clenched his jaw. It was a habitual response to stress and anxiety that was (and forever would be) the ruin of many a night-guard. He knew when his father was purposefully pushing his buttons. He sometimes wondered if the old man considered it friendly.
“Yes, sir. Please excuse me.”
Artemis had decided retreat was his best option to avoid further stress. It would do no good to be poked and prodded into losing his temper at such a crowded event. He continued to excuse himself through the crowd of aristocrats and socialites idly chatting over champagne and cigarettes. He knew without seeing that his bodyguard was following him. Reaching the bar, he requested glass of water and tried to calm his nerves.
Looking throughout the crowd, he saw her again, this time no longer seated. An angel, he thought, as she gracefully wove her way towards the bar. A rare feeling of panic pooled in his stomach. He immediately wished his water was scotch, or even a glass of wine. Anything to somewhat quell the anxiety that threatened to overwhelm him.
Too late, he thought, as he realized that not only was she headed towards the bar, she was headed towards him. And soon enough, she was before him. Like a man suddenly face to face with a growling tiger, he dared not move.
“May I ask your name?”
Her voice was soft, silky. He immediately wanted to hear it again.
“Of course.” he responded, praying to gods that he did not really believe in that his voice would remain steady. Now that she stood directly before him, her beauty threatened to swallow him whole and spit out his bones. He resisted the overwhelming urge to take in the entirety of her figure. His mother would have pinched him if he had behaved so poorly, and even in her absence he feared that pinch of disapproval, almost as much as he had feared his father’s hands before age and illness took their toll.
“My name is Artemis.”
“That’s an interesting name.” She smiled, and Artemis felt his heart catch fire in his chest.
“What is your name?” he asked, realizing he had never cared more in his life for an answer.
“Angeline.”
Angeline. Angeline. It was perfect. It was deserved! An angel on earth, a beautiful creature from the heavens whose presence and beauty struck fear into his mortal soul.
“It suits you well,” he swallowed, deciding to take a bold risk. Her smile widened, and triumph fed the flame in his heart. It threatened to consume him, to burn him thoroughly inside and out. And it was wonderful! God, it was wonderful. In the twenty-four years of his affection-starved life he had never wanted for anything more than this woman to look at him warmly.
“Your last name is ‘Fowl’, isn’t it?” she asked. She looked him over, before settling back on his strikingly bright eyes. She snorted, and somehow managed to do so delicately.
“That suits you very well.”
Her smile vanished, and instantly the flame in his heart was extinguished. What was left was only a brittle, burnt lump that was crumbled into ash in her elegant hands.
“I’ve heard all about your family,” she continued, ignoring his desperate glacier blue eyes as he silently begged forgiveness from the angel he’d just met. “And I saw you staring earlier. So I want to be very clear. Keep your eyes to yourself.”
And then she was gone, weaving gracefully back through the crowd towards her table.
Despite the crowded room, Artemis felt completely alone.
---
Artemis did not speak to anyone else for the rest of the night. Even his father, who normally didn’t care about his son’s emotional state, seemed to know better than to ask about his silence. When the family returned to Ireland, he immediately immersed himself in the ever-increasing workload his ailing father left up to him, resolving to forget the angel that destroyed the hope he had foolishly allowed himself that night. And he almost did, until nearly a year later, when he saw her once again.
---
This is the end of Part One! I give no promise as to when Part Two will be finished and posted. I have an important surgery coming up very soon and I have no clue how much I feel up to writing anything. Thank you for reading.

daughter of artemis // p.p — [10]
c h a p t e r  t e n
Pairing: Peter Parker x Demigod! Reader [Female pronouns]
Warnings: swearing; angst [a lot of it]; greek mythology rewritten [completely my interpretation of it, oops]; slightly based off the games god of war and assassin’s creed odyssey; hurt/comfort; cliche; fluff [on later chapters sometimes]; mentions of sex and gore; slight alternate universe
Follows events after Endgame, but Tony, Natasha, Steve, Loki are alive in this universe.
Author’s Note: THERE IS SO MUCH FLUFF UGH. I almost gagged with the fluff but heh. I love fluff. But, there’s also angst. I always try to portray a realistic romantic development, but yeah. I know I’m not even close to perfect. Let me know what you think!

Normally, (y/n) loved the weekend. Weekend meant she could get her reading done, she wouldn’t have to go to school and spend 8 hours not talking to anyone, but watching them talk to each other. But, this was perhaps one of the first weekends she actually dreaded not being able to sit with MJ, Ned and Peter and chat about useless things. Especially Peter. Maybe it was because she had seen a vision of him that she felt this familiar sort of fondness for him, but Peter made her heart warm and fuzzy inside.
She liked almost everything about him—even the fact that he was Spiderman. The way she saw it, it wasn’t extraordinary that he had powers (coming from a family of literal Gods), it was extraordinary that he wanted to use them to help others.
He was doing something Gods were not, and this fact she appreciated more than the others. She knew what it meant to have powers others did not; and this always caused people to get in and over their heads with the power, because it made them better than the others. Not to mention, he was cute; not having had the chance to meet a boy or girl her age before, (y/n) found it easy to find Peter attractive, especially with how small his eyes became when he smiled or laughed, or how he blushed way too easily, which made it all the more amusing for her to tease him.
She didn’t know what this feeling was, but if she were to describe it, it would be warmth. A strange but similar warmth she felt only around her mother, long ago.
Walking to the supermarket, she wondered what Peter Parker was doing at that moment. Shaking her head off his thoughts, telling herself she was focusing on him way too much, she walked into the store, hearing the chime of the door as she entered. Heading to the health supplies counter, she stocked up on some more cotton and bandages, antiseptic, for emergencies. She ran out of her own supply when Peter stitched her up.
She heard the door chime, indicating someone else come into the store. It was a beautiful woman, brown hair and green eyes, wearing nothing but a regular green tee and jeans. It looked like she had a bag, but (y/n) didn’t bother. Turning back to the aisle, she focused on getting the right brand of antiseptic.
The door chimed again, causing (y/n) to chuckle since it was a Saturday and she least expected it to be a busy day for the local store. Turning to the door, she spotted two little girls, a blonde and a brunette, walk in with their little kindergarten bags. They looked to be around five and (y/n) narrowed her eyes. What are they doing alone? It’s a Saturday. Shrugging, she went back to grabbing more supplies, but paused when she heard it.
A gunshot sounded inside the store, near the shopkeeper. Rushing to see what it was, she spotted the woman, pointing a gun at the storekeeper, who was now dead. Her eyes widened as the woman turned around to spot the kids, before (y/n) rushed to her and snapped the gun out of her hands. The woman now turned to (y/n) and smirked once, before (y/n) felt a strange chill go down her spine.
Her eyes were an eerie green; green like moss, staring into her very soul. They were unnatural and for some reason, she felt like she had seen this color on an animal before, not sure which animal it might have been. Stepping back, she felt her heart drop at the arrival of fear. I can’t smell a henchman, she thought, panicking. She doesn’t even, she can’t be! I know what the Boar looks like—
Before she could complete that thought, the woman grabbed the gun and pointed it at (y/n), only to have the demigod reflect in reflex and kick the gun out of her hands once again; she aimed a punch at the woman, which the woman didn’t deflect, causing her to go backwards. Quickly turning to the kids behind her, (y/n) screamed at them, telling them to hide. She could see both the little girls run to the back, to hide behind one of the counters. Turning back to the strange green-eyed woman, (y/n) narrowed her eyes.
“What the hell are you?” She spat, before clutching on to her dagger tightly.
She was so glad she would never leave it at home. Her choice to never part with the dagger made sense each time. Rushing to the woman, (y/n) kicked to her side, which the woman once again didn’t deflect, and grabbed her hair and bashed her to the counter. The woman side stepped quickly, but (y/n) was faster; she held her dagger tightly and attempted to stab her at her side, but the woman instead clicked her tongue, swept her foot below (y/n)’s own footing, bringing the demigod down. A moment later, the woman ran off, outside the store. (y/n)’s first instinct was to run after her, but remembered the children.
Rushing to the counter at the back, she spotted a very scared blonde girl, but the brunette seemed rather calm. (y/n) knelt to their level and smiled.
    “You girls okay?”
The brunette nodded. (y/n) could hear sirens from outside the store, and looked at the brunette who was checking her watch.
“My mom’s outside. She’s going to be so mad that I came out without her knowing.”
(y/n) chuckled, “You snuck out, huh?”
The brunette nodded proudly, “Yup.” She popped the ‘p’.
“You kicked her ass!” The brunette girl said, grinning widely.
(y/n)’s eyes widened at the word the child used, “Where did you learn that word?”
The girl smiled. The blonde girl with her, blinked a couple of times. (y/n) chuckled some more before holding both the girls’ hands and bringing them out. There were two police cars and a blonde woman standing in front of the store, who looked instantly relieved to see the girls. (y/n) would have smiled at the woman’s face if she hadn’t remembered one stark detail.
The blonde woman was the exact same woman she had seen in her vision. Five years ago, (y/n) saw four people in her vision. Two of whom she had already met, Natasha and Peter, and this was the third. The blonde woman, with a kind smile. As soon as she stepped in front of her, the woman knelt down and hugged the brunette, while the little blonde girl ran to another woman at the side.
“Morgan! Don’t ever do that again!” The woman scolded the girl, Morgan, and looked back at (y/n), causing her heart to flip.
Approaching her, (y/n) could feel her eyes widen and her heart rate increase. The woman smiled at her, before holding her hands in hers and thanking her repeatedly.
“I hate how shootings have become so common, I just… Thank you so much.”
“I…” She was breathless. “I didn’t do anything…” Her throat was suddenly very dry.
“You should come home,” The woman said, “Tony was so worried, he’s going to be thrilled that you actually put up a fight to save the girls.”
(y/n) wanted to shake her head, but the woman insisted some more. Morgan grinned and held the girl’s hand before nodding once more.
“I’m Ironman’s daughter.” She said, winking.
“I don’t think Ironman would want you to go around saying that to strangers.” (y/n) said, holding Morgan’s hand in hers, smiling at her.
“But you kicked that woman’s ass!” Morgan said, whispering.
(y/n) chuckled before following after Morgan’s mother, and sitting inside the car. She was definitely wealthy, but for some reason, (y/n) felt uncomfortable. She was just a random woman, with no relation to (y/n), so why did she see her in her vision? Peter too, it made no sense. She saw Natasha, and Natasha was the one who trained her; and her purpose was done. She saw Peter, but what purpose did Peter have to serve? What purpose did Morgan’s mother have to serve?
Ironman? So this is Tony Stark’s wife and daughter, (y/n) thought inside her head. Looking at Morgan, (y/n) grinned when the child smiled at her, watching her curiously.
    “What’s up, Morgan?”
“What’s your name?” Morgan asked, tilting her head cutely.
Just as (y/n) was about to answer, Morgan’s mother’s phone rang.
“Yes, Tony, she’s fine, we’re coming back now. I’m bringing the girl home too. There was this girl who stayed behind and helped Morgan out, inside. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know what would have happened.”
(y/n) blushed. No one had spoken about her like that before, especially not in front of her. The drive to Tony Stark’s place actually didn’t take as long as she expected. What she liked about the area was how green it was, a small cabin, enough for a small family. Her heart warmed at the sight of Morgan running inside, causing her mother to look at (y/n) and smile.
“You have very pretty eyes.” She said to (y/n), causing her to blush more.
You’re very beautiful, (y/n) thought internally, but didn’t say aloud. Once she was inside, she spotted the fourth and final person from her vision, staring right back at her, with an almost knowing expression. She blinked, wondering if he had recognized her somehow, but chose to keep quiet until he said something first. Strangely, she was not too surprised to spot him after having spotted Morgan’s mother. Tony Stark grinned widely at (y/n), and invariably, (y/n) felt at home.
“So you’re the fighter girl,” Tony said, chirpily. “Have we met? I feel like we’ve met? Have I come to your school or something years ago?”
(y/n) let out a breath, feeling all too nervous. He had seen her? That wasn’t possible. She let out a chuckle, indicating that she was nervous.
“Pepper, this calls for a nice dinner.”
“P-Pepper?” (y/n) asked, feeling her heart rate accelerate.
The woman in question looked slightly embarrassed and said, “With all the commotion, I forgot to introduce myself. My name’s Virginia Potts, Tony calls me Pepper for short. What’s your name?”
All of a sudden, (y/n) understood. Her eyes widened all too slowly, but once they did, everything around her numbed. It numbed in sound, visuals and every other sensory function; she had finally understood. She slowly turned to the blonde woman, Pepper, her eyes still wide, but couldn’t hear a word anyone was saying. It was as if she was sinking in water, inaudible sounds came from Tony’s mouth.
Tony.
Pepper is linked to her father.
Turning to Tony, her eyes filled with tears, but she couldn’t blink them away in time. A stray tear trickled down her left cheek, her jaw opening slightly, the feeling in her fingers gone. Tony seemed to stop talking and was now just looking at her, and when Morgan grabbed her hand, every feeling came back, crashing into her like a tidal wave.
She almost gasped at the intensity.
“You alright, kid?” She closed her eyes and pressed a hand to her forehead, and looked at Morgan, who was watching her cautiously.
Morgan is Tony Stark’s daughter.
And so was she.
Suddenly, she heard Peter’s voice. Peter was the only one in the vision whose purpose remained a mystery, with her having found out the reason for the other three. Peter’s voice lulled her into a reverie, a reverie that revealed more at that second if only she had paid attention.
Why is Tony Stark looking for you?
She felt her body suddenly shake, Pepper coming forward to help her but (y/n) put out an arm and shook her head. She felt the need to hide her face, she didn’t want Tony to see her, she didn’t want to be found; if there was anything that could stop her from becoming a God then it was him, sitting there on his living room couch, watching her with curious eyes.
He has a family, she thought, walking backwards. He doesn’t need more, he has a family, I’m not welcome, I can’t be, she thought, turning around and muttering a quiet apology. She rushed out, as awkward as it may have been, and made a run for it.
She may have been Tony Stark’s daughter, but he certainly wasn’t her dad.
It was after a long time that Peter saw (y/n) on her roof again. He had made it a habit to go around her roof on most of his patrols, hoping to see her there sometime, training or reading or whatever that signified her. Ever since she was injured, she hadn’t come up to the roof at all, and even though he was glad she was resting and not overworking herself, he missed her there. He missed how the two of them would sometimes sit and talk about random things; he missed the silly details she would give him of animals and birds.
So that Saturday evening, he saw there on her roof, wiping away tears. His stomach flipped as he landed close to her, before going over to sit by her side. He removed his mask, since she knew his real identity.
“Hey…” He said, thinking twice on whether or not to take her hand in his.
In the end, he didn’t go for it. However, when he saw her wipe the last bit of tears away, his heart broke. She turned to him, eyes still watery, and embraced him, placing her chin on his shoulder, and Peter’s arms wrapped around her naturally. He waited for her to say something because he knew she needed time to compose herself. Seeing her this vulnerable almost made him feel a little relieved, not because he liked what he saw but because she allowed herself to reveal her weak moment to him.
“Hey…” She responded to his initial greeting, earning a smile from him.
They were quiet for a moment. Their breaths tackled each others’ and she didn’t meet his eyes. Peter wondered what would have happened if she did, his heart was in his throat, and several thoughts flew in his mind. He kept his gaze fixed at her, not looking away, not wanting to miss even the smallest of reactions that appeared on her face. She sniffed, before wiping away more tears, and blinked a couple of times, matching the fluttering of his heart.
“Can I take you up on that offer?” She asked, her voice raspy.
Peter blinked, not following. She looked up at him now, her eyes meeting his, and he swore to all Gods that she was perhaps the best thing he had laid eyes on; all addictions made sense to him now that she was in his life. She, single-handedly, managed to take his breath away and Peter would willingly give her any that was left.
But, as if it was an afterthought, Peter understood what she was talking about.
    “Star Wars?” He whisper-yelled, excitedly.
When (y/n) giggled, he could feel himself masking his pride. Since when had making her laugh become something he could take deep pride in? She nodded and smiled at him, the corners of her eyes narrowing, and Peter smiled back, his heart warm, his life set.
“Of course! Tonight?” (y/n) nodded, and it was then she realized it.
She didn’t move because she didn’t want it to change. Her face reddened at the thought. Her eyes darted down, cautiously, not wanting to move Peter’s hand that was now resting on hers. She smiled a soft smile before looking back at him, going on and on about something related to Star Wars.
That evening, after Peter’s Patrol, he came home with his laptop and a bunch of snacks. (y/n) blinked as she opened her window and let him inside, her room now suddenly cleaner than before. Peter looked around and smiled at the girl, before plopping himself on her bed. When she sat beside him, the two of them paused for a moment before looking at one another.
Their faces were inches apart, their shoulders touching. It was as if something invisible was pulling them to each other, a strange force in the air that was telling Peter to grab her and hold her and filling indecent thoughts in (y/n)’s mind. As if they had noticed this hesitation, both of them bolted. Clearing their throats, the two scurried aside and placed a billow between them, feeling heat rush to their cheeks.
“I-I’m sorry,” Peter let out, which was followed by, “I-It’s alright,” from her.
“What’s the first movie called?” She asked, wanting to change the topic.
“A N-New Hope.” Peter said, coughing once more.
When the movie started to play, (y/n) was strangely excited. During her stay in New York, this was the first movie she was watching with a friend, and it filled her heart with a fuzzy feeling. Peter watched her as she watched the movie, a soft smile playing on his lips, finding everything she did amusing; she was so beautiful, she was so strong, and yet so mysterious; he knew nothing about her but he knew he liked her. He liked her, God, he couldn’t even begin to explain this feeling. Sure, he felt strongly for Liz Allen, but that was nowhere close to whatever this was.
Peter turned back to the movie and chuckled to himself at his not so new revelation.
The next day in school, neither of them tell Ned or MJ that they had binged all of the sequel movies the night before. To (y/n) and Peter, it was now a secret that they shared amongst themselves, which they communicated using secret smiles, which no one else had access to.
During lunch, MJ and (y/n) were having an animated conversation about democracy, something that (y/n) knew a lot about. Peter was holding his lunch tray, watching (y/n) talk as he approached them. Not aware of a stray piece of fruit was in front of him on the floor, Peter tripped, falling flat on the table MJ and (y/n) were sitting at, sending his food tray flying downwards. (y/n) stood up to help him, grabbing what could be eaten off the food tray before it hit the ground, holding Peter’s hand and helping him up.
“Are you okay?” She asked, her face once again merely inches away from his, and Peter gulped. Just as he was about to stand, he slipped again, this time on absolutely nothing but his shyness.
Ned slapped his forehead before grabbing Peter by his bag and helping him up. Just as (y/n) sat back down, and MJ giving him a weird look, Ned turned to his friend and glared at him.
    “What was that?” Ned whisper-yelled.
    “I-I… I think I like (y/n)—”
“You think? You’ve been ogling at her ever since you laid eyes on her, and you think you like her? Peter, get a grip.”
Peter was blushing harder than he ever had before.
That evening, (y/n) was walking back home, thinking of watching the prequel movies by herself since Peter didn’t want to watch them. She liked this thing she had with Peter, when he was not being Spiderman; not that she ever wanted him to forgo his duties as a superhero. As if she were caught thinking of him, she stopped when Spiderman landed right in front of her. Her eyes were wide, but a smile broke out on her face.
“Hi, Spidey.” (y/n) said, still walking. Spiderman accommodated and walked backwards, his face still facing her.
(y/n) squinted a bit before giggling once at what he was doing, before shaking her head, “What are you doing?”
Spiderman spread his hands to his side and said, “Why, I’m merely guiding a citizen home.”
(y/n) rolled her eyes. Peter’s heart almost stopped when she giggled again, at something he said, and found it oddly comforting that she knew he was Spiderman. And she wasn’t someone who needed to be protected too well, since she could hold her own rather well. Better than me, actually, he thought, albeit a bit proudly.
Suddenly, she stopped moving. Spiderman blinked and wondered what happened, noticing her carefree features suddenly turn into one of concentrated anger.
    “What’s wrong?” He asked, seriously.
“It’s one of them.” She knew he didn’t have a clue of what she was talking about, but since Spiderman had saved her life from one of those creatures, she knew he picked up on her signal.
What she didn’t understand was what this creature was; the Boar was someone else entirely, and she had killed the Hyena and the Wolf. Who was this woman? And why did she not smell like the henchmen? Turning to her side, she spotted an old garbage disposal warehouse, and she knew that the woman was there. Turning to Spiderman, she nodded once before running toward the building, with him following right behind her.
She’s sneaky, (y/n) thought before entering the place. However, both Peter and (y/n) froze on the spot with who they saw in front of them. In the middle of the large warehouse sat Natasha Romanoff, tied up and gagged, looking at them with confusion. Beside Natasha stood the woman, pointing a gun at Nat’s head, smirking at the two of them. (y/n) had not seen Natasha in years, and seeing her like this after this gap caused her to feel nothing short of rage.
“Black Widow?!” Peter exclaimed, clearly confused.
“Peter,” (y/n) let out, “Pull that gun from her and free Natasha.”
Peter nodded and quickly used his webs to pull the gun from the woman, as (y/n) ran after her. Immediately going behind Natasha, Peter noticed how intricately the knots were tied, and he’d take a couple of minutes to free the woman. Meanwhile, (y/n) grabbed the green-eyed woman’s hand and twisted it behind her back, kicking her knee to the ground. The woman escaped briefly, before punching her, (y/n) caught her arm and kicked her in the chest, sending her backwards. As the two of them fought, (y/n) grabbed her dagger and turned it around her hand.
Natasha noticed the dagger and her suspicion was confirmed. This is (y/n), she thought as Peter struggled to free her. Natasha was foolish to have believed the woman when she looked helpless. The green eyed woman had come running to Natasha when she was going to get some coffee, and gestured to the building as if something had gone wrong. Falling into a trap like that, Natasha cursed at herself if nothing else.
(y/n) landed one more kick to the woman, before noticing how she was about to run again. But before she could make a run for it, Natasha grabbed the woman from the back and held her to (y/n). She nodded at (y/n) once and gestured for her to do it quickly. (y/n) held her dagger and approached her steadily.
Something then happened that scared (y/n). The green-eyed woman’s face morphed into something else—it was changing and both Peter and (y/n) looked at her with disgust. However, once this morphing ended, (y/n)’s eyes widened with fear.
There, staring right back at her, was the face of her mother, Artemis. No way, she thought, her grip on the dagger loosening. Tears filled her eyes as she almost forgot about who the woman was, it was as if she was suddenly in a daze, moving slowly toward what looked like her mother.
“Do it, (y/n)!” Peter screamed, but she could not hear him.
She walked towards the woman Natasha was holding and held the dagger to her side. Her mother’s face was staring back at her, smiling now, teary eyed. Pressing her lips together, (y/n) felt tears run down her eyes as she shoved the dagger into the woman’s heart, closing her eyes a moment after. Once again, like the Wolf, she turned to absolutely nothing and eroded away.
Falling to her knees, (y/n) breathed before wiping the tears from her eyes. Natasha watched her, knowing full well that the face she had seen was that of her mother’s. Peter crouched beside the girl and held her, holding her in his arms, and she was holding him back.
Natasha knelt in front of her and listened.
    “That was… That was—”
“Was that the face of your mother?”
Peter froze before looking at (y/n), who nodded weakly. Natasha placed a hand on the girl’s shoulder and looked down, feeling nothing but torment. Looking up at Peter, she cocked an eyebrow.
    “Not friends, huh?”
Peter immediately released the girl, earning a chuckle from both women. The three of them head to (y/n)’s house at her request; (y/n) was tired of keeping secrets from the both of them now, Peter had literally been there twice when a henchman or whatever that was attacked her, and Natasha killed a henchman five years ago. It was time, she realized, to spill the beans.
Natasha on the other hand was dying to tell the girl about Tony, but something told her that this wasn’t the right time. She would tell Tony where the girl lived, so that Pepper could come and talk to her, but today wasn’t it. As soon as they reach the girl’s house, Natasha makes herself comfortable on the couch, and Peter sat on the chair, making sure not to sit beside (y/n) in front of Natasha.
When (y/n) began explaining to them about who she was, Natasha wasn’t too shocked. Her teammate was a literal God, so this made sense; however, there was something else she noticed about (y/n) that she hadn’t noticed before. Narrowing her eyes, she saw ambition in the girl, and not the good kind. Something had changed massively, and the girl’s inherent curiosity was lost. Natasha wondered if the five years being on her own had done this to her, but she knew there was more to this eerie feeling than that.
A knock sounded on the door and in came Apollo, bandaged up. His gaze fell on Natasha and Peter, who sat wearing his spider suit but no mask. On seeing Apollo, he saw his English professor Alec, and froze up. He immediately stood up and put his hands in front of him in defense.
    “T-This is just a costume, p-professor!”
    “Professor?” Natasha asked, confused.
Apollo blinks and looks at his niece, who merely shrugged. A second later, Peter calmed.
“Wait, what are you doing here?”
Apollo slapped his forehead.
    “He’s Apollo, Peter.”
Natasha chuckled at Peter’s cluelessness. However, when (y/n) continued her story, including the bit about Pepper, Peter paused.
    “Pepper, as in—”
“Pepper Potts, yes. My father is Tony Stark.” (y/n) said, cleaning her dagger.
Natasha was most surprised about this. Narrowing her eyes cautiously, she turned to the girl, “You knew?”
“Recently.” (y/n) didn’t want to go into detail about that meeting.
“You came here looking for him. You should go meet him—”
“What use is that to anyone?” (y/n) asked coldly.
Peter suddenly didn’t recognize her. He watched her, confused out of his mind and also shocked because she was Mr. Stark’s illegitimate daughter. He turned to Apollo, who was sitting on another chair, looking not too pleased either.
“(y/n), you came here for him. You came to America to find your father, settle down and have a life. Getting away from a place like Olympus, it doesn’t make sense that you’re only trying to get back—”
“Those things are not for me, Natasha.” (y/n) said, looking at her with a cold expression.
Peter narrowed his eyes, “What do you mean? Mr. Stark will be thrilled to—”
“I’m a demigod, Peter. I’m going to become a God after I fulfil this prophecy, and when that happens, I won’t need Mr. Stark. I won’t need anything from the mortal world. I’m finishing things here because it’s a lot easier than going back to Olympus as a demigod.” (y/n) said, narrowing her eyes.
“Y-You’re leaving?” Peter asked, feeling the back of his eyelids burn.
“I have nothing here that can me stay.”
He pressed his lips together and frowned. He had never before found it hard to speak his mind when the time called for it, but right then, Peter was afraid. He was afraid to say a few words that perhaps might have made her change her mind. He was afraid to say, ‘What about me?’

Vet (MatureYoosungxMC Selena)
This fanfic it’s quite long.
There will be two parts, but I let you the first one.
Enjoy! ^^
“Oh!~ Dr. Kim! When  can I present you to my grand daughter? She’s in town and she is a doctor like you~”
As you can see, this old lady is Mrs.Park, she is around 67 years old.
She comes every two weeks telling me that her cat is not feeling right, and every two weeks she tells me to meet her grand daughter.
“Mrs. Park.... I’m not a human doctor as your grand daughter and I am a vet... and whiskers is fine.”
“Oh, sorry Dr. Kim!~ It’s just that you are a catcher and you probably would look good with my grand daugther~”
“Mrs. Park, I appreciate the intention, but I’m not prepare for a relationship, right now”
I’m a vet and my name is Yoosung Kim.
At first I didn’t want to follow this path after my cousin, Rika...well... became... not like herself, but then MC helped me to find my way back. She was a crush of mine back then, when I was on college, but I know that Saeyong is taking care of her, so I got over it a long time ago.
After a while, I decided  to be single for the rest of my life, bacause I coulnd’t help Rika and neither V, but maybe with this I can purge my guilt, tha’s why I can’t go out with anybody.
That’s what I was thinlking but suddenly Mrs. Park hit my back with the force of four strong man,  strong enough to let me bit my own tonge..and then she came with the next sentence...
“Oh,Dr. Kim!~ But you can start with my grand daugther!~”
I don’t like the idea to date a complete stranger, but Mrs. Park problably felt alone in her house. She´s a widow and her sons barely see her...so I pity her in some way...She reminds me..But fortunately those depressing thoughts desappeared when a horn sounded on the distance.
“....Mrs. look ids youd son, he came to pitd you up!”
Oh, shoot! I really bit my tonge and it hurted to much!
“Bye, Mrs. Padk!”
I turned back to my office when a big taned man came through the door with a big golden stained with blood dog in his arms.
“PLEASE! WE NEED THE VET!”
“..What happenet?”
“...I ran over him, it wasn’t my intention!...”
“Fidst of all calm down and let me takd of itd”
My nurses took the dog of his shaking hands and enter on the emergency room, the time passed by...I did what I could...and saved it. I only need to tell that..guy.  But I got surprised when I saw him with a woman screaming on the lobby. But  in a corner, I could see two little kids, one girl and one boy, they looked at the same age.
“...Ahem...edcuse me! Are you the owneds of the golden...”
“ Yes, we are! His name is Vanilla!”
The kids get out from the corner and bravely started talking to me. I kneeled down to talk with them.
“...Ok, Vanida is fine...He only needs to dest so... he’s going to spend the nigth today. so you can be fine, everydhig went well”
“Mama, Did you hear? Vanilla is gonnna be ok!...The doctor with the funny accent told me!” Says the little girl.
When I raise my gaze where the mother is..the angels sang! She is a marvelous creature! She is a brunette slender woman witha pixie cut and green eyes...My god!.. Good day to have my tonge injuried!
I probably looked like a fool because suddendly the tall man got near her and took her from her waist.
“So...Doctor, the...dog is... fine?” The tall guy started to talk before, the woman could speak.
“Yes, he id”
Stupid tonge! I spoke like an idiot!
“It’s not a he, it is a girl and her name is Vanilla!” Screamed the boy to the tall guy.
The woman felt uncomfortable with the tall guy near her, so she took away his hand and looked me on the eyes.
“Thank you, Dr...”
“...ahem...Dr. Kim...I’m the Dr. Kim”  I felt so nervous with her gaze on me...Man! She was so gorgeous!...and me and my stupid tonge!
“...Ah...yeah...Thank you, Dr. Kim. Vanilla is very important for my kids”
The gorgeous woman got near and told me that directly. I was smailing like a fool. Its’s been a while since I could felt this way... But again the big taned man got between us like a impenetrable mountain. He strechted his hand really hard with mine, maybe to show me that he was stronger than me.
“Yes, Bro! Thank you. If it wasn’t for you. My woman’s dog and kids will be sad”
The kids looked him with rage but I deciced to ignore it and treat them with some candies that Saeyoung gave me the last time he came.
“...You know kids...I have something vedy special on my pockets...Do you know what is itd?”
“...A bunny?...”
“All the magician has bunnies...so he problably has a bunny”
“Hahaha...no, kids! I have two popdicles and I’m gonna shade it with you, because you wede good kids!”
“Thank you so much! ....you are our friend, right?
“Yes, I am”
Stupid tonge! But it really didn’t matter because the kids surprised me.
“Then, you can call me Luna and my brother is Artemis.”
“Adight! Then let’s be fdiends!”
I smiled them and they smiled me back. I fell in love with the kids too...I just...fell in love with all of them...
The man took the kids and the woman  left the place, leaving me all alone...This feeling that I had...it was the same hen Rika “left” us..and I didn’t want it.
The days passed my tonge was healed and the same family came to see their dog, but the taned man never came back with them.
Vanilla was better and the kids could see her, but before that If I could, I played with them in the waiting room meanwhile my nurse made the necesary to let them see her.
I tried many times to speak with their mom but I always stuttered and ended up talking about Vanilla’s condition. The only things that I could know about her were that her name is Selena Jung, she has two kids, she’s a widow and the taned man was her boyfriend, Dak-ho Baek ...WAS her boyfriend!
Thank god, he was her boyfriend! She broke up with him the same day they came with Vanilla!...But I knew this because one of my nurses made herself her friend and I heard evrything on lunch time...I’m such a coward...
Finally, the day when Vanilla left the hospoital came and I couldn’t speak with Selena at all...
“Mrs.Jung, here is Vanilla. She is much better...Kids! Here is Vanilla!”
The kids rushed directly to Vanilla and hugged her.
“Yay! Vanilla is better!”
“We can play with her today, right mama?”
“Yes, we can go to the park, but tomorrow. She needs to rest”
“Awww!*unisono*”
“But we want to take her to the park today!”
Selene said with a pouting cute mouth. I couldn’t take it, they looked so sad because of that...wich made to take the freedom to do something that I shouldn’t have.
“Ok, kids! How about taking Vanilla tomorrow to the park and I go with you? Tomorrow is my day off”
“Really, Dr. Kim?!” Said Artemis with a wide bright eyes.
“Yes, of course I do! We are friends, right?”
They jumped and screamed with hapinnes. And the truth is that I was happy too. I really love this kids. They are so sweet and full of energy...I just couldn’t let them like that. But I forgot about Selena... i mean his mother...
“Mrs. Jung. Is it ok if I take the kids to the park with me?..I mean.. You can come too, if you want...I mean you problably are going to come because you are their mother...hahaha”
“Please, don’t call me Mrs. Jung. You were taking care of my dog and my kids..How I possibly say no and atill let you call me Mrs. Jung?”
“...Ok! Then let’s see us at the park near here...Selena!”

Tango
[An angel wrote invitations to a ballroom event that only angels and devils can enter. The event was in celebration for heaven and hell's alliance. But 2 of that invitations somehow ended up on the wrong people.]
***
“I can't believe we're doing this.” The blonde said shyly, shaking her head. The pair still dancing passionately to the music. “Yeah,” the brunette chuckled, “I wonder how all this started.”
[Flashback]
“Are all the invitations sent, Ann?” Said an angel to her colleague. “Yes, Rese. Now all we have to do is prepare the ball.” Answered the colleague enthusiastically.
But little do they know, 2 invitations went far away...
***
*Ting*
“Wow, who would send an email so early in the morning?” Said a surprised blonde. “I wonder what is it about,” she checks it, “Who's Ann?”
“A pleasant morning to you all! To celebrate the peaceful end of war between angels and devils, we will be holding an event here on Heaven! We would REALLY appreciate you coming to the party. Whether angel or devil, everyone is welcome! The dress code would be formal classic. The party starts at 7 PM, so don't be late!
–Ann
PS: Please say 'Yes, I will go' to enter Heaven.”
***
*Ting*
“Ugh, why are people sending emails today? Is it world email day or something?” The brunette groaned. She opened the received mail with furrowed eyebrows, “What the fuck is this?”
***
“Is this for real?” Although at different places, the blonde and brunette said at the same time.
[Time skip 8 PM]
The blonde gasped, “What time is it?” She checks the clock. “Should I really go? What if it's a trap? What if I get kidnapped and they'll sell my organs?” Said the worry wart.
***
The brunette finished typing her work and looked at the time. "Oh shit, I'm late. Well, better late than never, I guess.” She quickly rushed to change to fit the dress code.
***
“Yes, I will go.”
***
When they both arrived, the only people left were the organizers and chef. One of the organizers, Rese offered a last dance to the two "guests". The 2 strangers looked at each other. They clicked. 'Tango,' they thought to themselves and as if they understood each other, they held hands, in position. The chef, who obviously understood the vibe, played a song fit for tango.
The song started. Spotlights on their very heads. Using the very expensive electricity of Heaven just for them. They danced as if they were the last people on earth (or heaven, in this case).
[End of flashback]
It's funny how their hands felt as if they were made for each other. 2 strangers, dancing in the spotlight. Not feeling a single bit awkward with each others' touch. And then the song ended.
But just as the song ended, confusion hit them. They were dancing all around the ballroom floor yet the spotlight never left them. Who the hell controlled them, if the only people are Rese and the chef and the other organizer? So they looked up and there they saw. A person. A child perhaps. It's just that she's shorter than the rest of them.
“Oh, that's Ann. She did a great job, didn't she?” They looked at Rese as she told them. “Hi,” Ann says from above while she makes a peace sign with a (disturbing) weird smile. All the 2 could do was give Ann a thumbs up with an awkward smile.
James, the head of this event, scared the 2 dancers by appearing suddenly from their backs. “What an amazing performance! But who are you people? I don't think you were on the guest list either.” Ann who came down from above replied to him “Oh leave it be James, let the 2 lovebirds enjoy their time.” “Well they enjoyed their time long enough. The higher ups would be back soon to check if the place is spotless. They have to go now.” James retorted with a flip of his hair.
“I'm really sorry to make you leave but we really have to if we want to keep our jobs.” Rese said to them. “It's okay, we found something special from this, anyway." Said the stranger who we now know as Cynthia. "Yeah, I agree," said the other stranger, Artemis. They both looked at each others' eyes knowing that this moment would be etched on their memories forever.
They thanked Ann, Rese, and James one last time for letting them dance at least one song and went home holding each others' hands.
First oneshot of my friend and I ^^ The characters are original.

I. The crust of the moon was acrid and burnt, sticky dark red painting the once beautiful silver ground.
They had lost the princess. They had lost everything.
Venus felt cold, a numb emptiness spreading through her veins. Mercury and Jupiter couldn't be reached--hadn't checked in over their link in too long. She knew they were gone too.
Corrupted infantrymen from earth were everywhere, and she had felt the awakening of the last soldier across the stars.
Tired cobalt eyes scanned around, ears sharp, body alert for the next thrall of Metalia to charge at her. A chunk of debris fell loose from the far pillar and she locked her aim, palm outstretched as far as her exhausted arm could push, prepared to expend the last of her energy on one final shower of light.
Her muscles tensed as the figure appeared, raven hair and silken uniform stained that same sickly red.
"Mars!"
Venus climbed over debris, breathing ragged by the time she reached the other woman. Pulling Mars into her arms, she noted the limp arm and fading body heat. The Martian wouldn't stand much longer. Their foreheads pressed together, messy wet bangs clinging to slick skin.
"Venus," it was quiet, so full of fear unlike anything the blonde had heard her lover say before, "they are all-"
Mars sucked in a breath through clenched teeth, and Venus' hands rushed up to her companion's jaw.
"You felt her too. The Soldier of Death is coming." Venus shook, hands and arms trembling, held up by strained legs. Mars' weight had never felt heavier than in this moment.
"Yes." Brilliant amethyst was framed by bloodshot crimson. Venus couldn't look any longer, stealing a desperate kiss from Mars' lips.
Sounds of shouting and the crunch of rubble beneath boots broke their kiss. Mars looked afraid, and Venus knew her lover wouldn't be able to aim her fire without use of both arms. Slowly, as gently as she could, Venus helped Mars slide to the ground. One strong hand held Mars' jaw once more, a fierce kiss pressing to her crown. Venus' eyes stung as tears threatened to fall. Mars gripped her thigh with purpose. "Venus...next time..."
Mars was gone too.
Venus stood, fists clenched tight and shaking with adrenaline.
"Over there!" She bit her lip, knees nearly buckling as she readjusted her stance in front of Mars. Forward scouts of the battalion were drawing near, urging other men to their position.
"Crescent..." Serenity was lost to them. Mercury, Jupiter, all their soldiers. Even the prince of Earth, for all her conflicted feelings about him, hadn't deserved the end he met. More of the corrupted men poured into their space, spears and shields raised as they advanced closer. "Beam..." Mars... The beautiful warrior lasted long enough to find her, long enough to give Venus one last kiss. The unit was so close now.
And Mars was gone.
"SHOWER!"
Brilliant lights danced, illuminating the courtyard and striking each man, undoubtedly revealing their position to the larger forces. Her legs gave out, falling back against the pillar. Her breathing was labored, and she knew what was coming next. Venus grasped for Mars' hand beside her as blinding purple light blanketed the stars above.
"Next time, Mars..."
II. Beryl had to be stopped in order to bring Metalia's reign of terror to an end. Rei didn't remember everything of the past, of the era of peace that supposedly came in the Silver Millennium, but she didn't need to right now. They had to do this for everyone on Earth.
She saw in Ami's eyes that the end was coming, watched the genius girl devise a trap clever enough to give the rest of them time to charge forward. Rei didn't want to ask if anyone else had felt it when Ami was gone--the soldier she had known the longest outside of their Princess. God, the princess--Usagi had been there the whole time, Serenity right under their noses. She always wondered if their newest addition to their team, the stalwart leader Aino Minako, had thought the rest of them to be fools for not knowing sooner.
The blonde's eyes were sharp, intense as they fought through the cold and the caves to reach the heart of D-Point. The holy sword weighed heavy in those lean arms, but Minako looked... right. Like the weapon from the moon was meant to be in her hands.
"On the right!" The order was barked out in time for Rei to see the hulking monstrosity in the archway. She fumbled to make her signs, wanting to bring fire to life and burn it to a crisp, but the crackling static of Makoto's power brought her to a halt.
"Go! I can take him!" The brunette was strong, Rei knew this, but an uneasy feeling washed over her. This all felt so familiar.
"Mars!" Rei blinked away the after images of war that she couldn't quite piece together and spared a final glance Makoto's way before following Aino. Sounds of thunder followed their footsteps until there was suddenly nothing.
"Mako-"
"We have to keep going. Before we lose her again."
Aino's voice was always so strong, full of unending confidence. This was the first time Rei had heard any trace of vulnerability from her.
Rei knew Aino remembered more than the rest of them, but she didn't know if that was a blessing or a curse.
They ran together through the empty passageways until they heard her; Beryl, traitor of earth and its prince.
"I don't see the princess," Rei admitted it quietly, not wanting to give away their position. She watched as Minako's eyes flicked across the room, brow furrowing further before nodding, tight.
"Find her. I'll hold Beryl back."
Her golden mane shimmered when Aino stood upright, and Rei's breath caught in her throat.
"Minako-" Soft gloves touched her own, making her pause. She met her leader's eyes, heart clenching to see the other girl smiling.
"It sounds nice when you say that. Don't wait next time."
"Next time..."
The words rang in her mind from another place. Another time.
Minako dashed out into Beryl's line of sight, proclaiming the corrupted woman would fall at her hands, while Rei took the opening to run.
She could hear them fighting, and felt it when it was over, stumbling to a stop to twist around and look. Minako had done it. The holy sword pierced through Beryl's heart, victorious blade glinting with slick red out Beryl's back. A cheer rose in Rei's throat, excitement flooding her veins.
And then she saw.
Beryl wasn't the only one who lost.
Trembling hands rose to cover her mouth, eyes wide in shock and fear. "No..." As Beryl's body faded away, Minako slumped. Rei couldn't move. The sound of approaching enemies, ravenous without their false queen, would descend upon her soon. Rei looked away, eyes closing tight as her fists. "Next time..." The heat of her fire was all she could feel in the end.
III. Of course Rei had been the first target. Kind, gentle, stoic--pure of heart. Her heart Crystal glittered so beautifully in the sun beneath the first Sakura tree. It made Minako sick, at the time, crushing the possession monster into dust. When Rei had explained it to her after the fact, Minako's stomach dropped out. "It was...a form of death," the miko had admitted over tea. Her hands trembled around the cup before setting it back against the table without taking a sip. Ami had asked practical questions, Makoto thinking more of the monster who had done it. Usagi and Mamoru both overflowed with compassion, directing the conversation to Rei herself. All Minako could do was watch her trembling hands.
Makoto had been next, followed by Ami. Both had been quietly affected by their attacks. They agreed with Rei--death felt similar.
Even Usagi, their beloved princess, was targeted. It made more sense than any of the rest of them, but it felt like a personal failure to not protect her.
Worse was the jealousy.
Minako hadn't been targeted, and it left her questioning her worth. What did it mean to be pure of heart? What was wrong with her that she... she wasn't.
Was she even fit to lead the senshi if her heart was...
"Minako?"
She blinked, clearing her head for the moment. Artemis was in her lap, looking up at her with concerned eyes.
"It's nothing. Are you coming with me today?" She knew the white tomcat was meeting his companion at Usagi's place. The question was out of habit, though Minako didn't like the way he seemed to be considering her offer. It would be better if she could think about this alone.
Artemis shook his head and jumped off her lap, stretching long and lazy on the mattress: "You're a good leader, Minako. Don't forget that."
She shook her head with a scoff, embarrassed at how easily he could see through her. Forcing a smile, Minako pushed through her door.
Twenty minutes later found her at the bottom of the stairs to the shrine, hands in her jacket pockets. She could go, and spill her thoughts and worries and fears to her friend, her comrade. She could even take Rei up on the promise of a free fire reading or card fortune.
Minako shook her head and walked away towards the shopping district. What if the fire only confirmed her fears? What if the way her heart pounded just that much faster when she was around the Martian soldier was apart of all this?
Maybe another day.
The bookstore was relatively quiet, allowing Minako to take her time reading all the spines in the shelves.
'Ten Steps to a Healthier Heart, Maiden's Purity, Mana and Chi; How Your Heart Smiles,' title after ridiculous title stared back at her. None of these would have information about the pure hearts Witches Five were after, let alone any real definitions of purity. That didn't stop her from skimming each one.
Nose-deep in 'Guide to a Pure Heart,' Minako was jolted from her thoughts by the sharp sensation of someone watching her. She straightened her back, glancing side to side.
She turned with a fake smile plastered on, one hand tingling with the energy to pull her transformation wand from subspace at any moment.
"I never thought we'd catch you studying, cutie."
Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru, the beauties of Mugen Gakuen who kept their relationship under wraps--not that they could hide that from Minako's expertly trained eyes. She had snuck into one of Michiru's concerts, disguised as a boy thanks to the Crescent Compact to hide her shame and attraction, but up close it was hard to ignore.
"Well you know me, selfless and pure of heart, always wanting to better myself..." she laughed, but it was too tense. Oversharing was not the key to a successful getaway.
Haruka smirked, but Michiru only studied the book in her hands.
Minako needed to get away from them.
She made some excuse, side stepping her way to the door and out of the shop.
Minako wandered then, thoughts a jumbled cacophony she couldn't parse, until landing in the seat of a park swing.
"Pure of heart..." She mumbled, digging her toe deeper into the ground.
She considered trying to go see Rei again to talk. Of all her friends and comrades, she was the most pragmatic. And Minako also... Heat crept up her cheeks and she stopped her swinging to stare at the skyline. She had kept a mix of memories from Venus about Mars, but it was more than that. It was the years spent together here and now in Tokyo, not the Silver Millennium, that had softened Minako's heart.
She sat there with a small smile pointed at the ground for a moment, breeze pushing at her thick golden locks.
And then the world was searing pain.
Her chest felt cracked open and exposed. With a ghostly gasp she looked down.
The others were right and wrong. It did remind her of dying, to an extent, but what it really felt like was the final battle against Kaito Ace, when memories were forced through her, system flooded with rage and sorrow, adrenaline and shock. Living torture.
Her heart crystal shined so beautifully. She was pure. She was pure!
A maniacal smile stretched across her face and she laughed, hysteric.
Minako slumped forward, arms encircling the crystal before her. Every second hurt like awakening, like death.
But her heart was pure.
She ran as fast as she could, blood burning through her veins as her muscles screamed. Or maybe that was her soul.
It didn't matter.
She vaguely recognized the shapes and colors of her friends, Usagi's shining silver life force taking the pain away, if only for a moment.
She felt the heat of fire--not Mars' fire though, and that made her scared.
Then the world, at last, went dark.
When she woke up again, covered in blankets and cold packs strapped to her forehead, the others cried tears of joy. After Usagi gushed, Ami lightly chastised, and Makoto fed her, Rei had leaned in close. Close enough for Minako to be thankful for the excuse of the blankets.
"Don't scare us like that next time..."
IV. The concept of dream mirrors terrified her. Rei saw enough of dreams, of premonitions, of what "could be" through the fires. But it was so clear what this enemy was doing, how they looked into the deepest hopes and desires of their victim's hearts.
Sweat beaded her brow as she drew the next arrow back, holding it long enough to adjust her aim.
Thwump!
She stayed upright, staring at the bullseye. A long, slow exhale finally let her relax and wipe her forehead. The others had been nudging her to find an extra curricular for ages. Her Super awakening had given her something to practice.
Minako had lost the ability to transform, nearly falling to her death over the dream mirrors. It was the first time any of them had seen Artemis look like anything but a cat, and he was beautiful. The way he had carried Minako free of danger, finally allowing her to transform again once her dreams were restored...
Rei's next arrow missed and she sighed, bringing her bow back down. She didn't know why this was bothering her.
She walked towards the trees to retrieve the arrows, knowing she was lying to herself.
The feelings she felt towards Minako were...complicated. The fringes of memories from the Silver Millennium had certainly made her interested, but the girl here and now in the present was much more compelling. A leader, ready to be a decoy at any moment, a physically strong young woman with muscles formed from years of volleyball and crime fighting, bilingual in Japanese and English, well traveled, and not as bad of a study as she would have everyone believe...
Rei knew these things after the years spent together, fighting side by side. She finally gave in and told Minako's fortune after Pharaoh 90 was dealt with, and found herself enjoying the company more often than not. And each private moment made her pulse race.
She could feel the heat on her face when she reached down for the last arrow.
Having all one's hopes and dreams exposed to evil, potentially to anyone close enough to look into the glass... Rei imagined it was a fate similar to death. Minako hadn't been close enough to anyone but Artemis and the enemy for her desires to be revealed, and seemed mostly unbothered when asked about it.
Minako also possessed the confidence to chase her dreams and desires without shame.
If Rei could chase her dreams... A few scenes crossed her mind, but blonde hair splashed across the images. Eartips as red as the feathers of her arrows, Rei tried to close the door on that train of thought.
Minako was waiting at the top of the steps, a casual smile offered in Rei's direction with a wave. She offered a small smile and a nod in return.
With Grandpa so sick, it was all she could do to keep the shrine open for visitors. Minako's brilliant idea had been a joke, get a man who could help out and inherit the shrine with her.
"Aino Minako, reporting for 'son-in-law' duty!"
Of course, Rei thought with a grim, half hearted smirk, Minako didn't quite understand the depth to which Rei meant it when she said she hated men.
The sound of brooms against stone was peaceful. With Phobos and Deimos relaxing in the branches nearby, and Minako keeping a serious attitude on the work, Rei almost felt... content, letting the time slip by.
"Ta-da!"
The noise startled her, transformation wand already in her grasp as Rei let her broom clatter to the ground. Alert, ready for the threat sure to come.
"Hey... Rei."
She blinked, finding herself face to face with her leader.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Fine. Perfectly fine," she breathed deep, letting her wand fade away on the exhale, "Let's just get changed. They won't wait for us forever."
Concerned cobalt was her only answer. Rei couldn't shake the feeling that she'd seen that exact look before.
--
By now they knew the circus was dangerous; a front for the malicious designs of Zirconia and their minions. The atmosphere had every detail perfect to be fun and inviting, but the warriors knew better. Rei knew better.
She still jumped at the chance to investigate the hall of mirrors on her own.
"No reflection..."
D O  N O T  W O R R Y!  N O  T R I C K S  H E R E!
Rei jolted, spinning but finding no entrance, no paths she could take.
Y O U ' V E  A L W A Y S  W A N T E D  T O  B E  H A P P Y.
She reached for her pen, into the subspace that was always so near.
"What trap is this?"
T H E Y ' R E  H O L D I N G  Y O U  B A C K!
T H I N K  O F  N O T H I N G  B U T  Y O U R  O W N  H A P P I N E S S!
Palms met glass, unyielding and unbreaking, and Rei's breathing grew harder. She reached inside herself, reciting the words that for so long had banished any demon or evil before her, even before Mars' power found her.
W H Y  F I G H T?
Y O U R  M I N D  A N D  B O D Y  A R E  M I N E  T O  D E V O U R  N O W!
Blinding light, a cacophony of noise, so much, too much--it overwhelmed her.
The headboard came up, bolts clicking in place, and when she looked down--
"No!"
Her mirror. Perfect and pink, surrounded by bows of blue like all those she had seen before. Beautiful voice and bright blonde hair flitted across the glass, raven and amethyst close behind. Laughter, quiet, sighs, brooms against stone...
"Well well well, what is this?"
Tiger's Eye circled like the predator he was born from, and Rei swallowed the fear in her throat.
"Stay ba-!"
Tiger's Eye dove beneath the glass of her mirror and Rei screamed, desperate and afraid.
She would rather be dead than let anyone see.
"No pegasus?! Argh!"
Tiger's Eye ripped his way from her mirror, furious and growling. And Rei...
The glass above them shattered, vicious screeches of crow overpowering every other noise.
"Phobos... Deimos..."
The explosion of green and blue and pink were familiar, a comfort. But the orange and yellow that blew Tiger's Eye away, leaving nothing but a scared animal in its wake, opened her eyes.
"Mars!"
She reached for the pen again, just outside of her conscious. Heavy, warm, and bright...
The flames licked her heels as she pulled the bow back, not taking the time to breathe between transformation and attack.
And then Tiger's Eye was gone.
With a shudder she let the weapons fade away, fists still balled and eyes cast away.
Two soft gloves cupped her cheeks, forcing Rei to meet those same worried cobalt eyes.
"Don't go it alone, next time..."
V. She never wanted to feel this pain again.
Minako clutched the sides of her head, fingers catching on the edge of her tiara, for all the good it was doing her now.
Mercury and Jupiter... no... Ami and Makoto... they were gone. Not like the other times, not like the Silver Millenium, not like Beryl, not like Pharoh 90, not like Nehelenia...
They were gone.
"Where are they?! Where did you take them to?! Bring them back!!"
She screamed, because she had nothing else.
"VENUS!!"
Uranus' slap was hard enough to leave her cheek stinging. Minako shook herself, blinking back tears--from the pain of the slap or her friends' absence, she didn't know.
Rei was still alive, she could feel that. Usagi, Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna and Hotaru. All of them were here to face the Aluminates, and the Starlights.
The Starlights... her anger renewed, she burned holes with her gaze at the three standing across the roof. They were enemies, not to be trusted. Not to be let anywhere near her princess or her comrades.
"No... Galaxia must have them... We've got to save them!"
Her fist clenched tight before her chest, swearing to anyone who would listen. If she shouted loud enough, maybe no one would see the fear that cast a shadow over her heart.
--
The next morning she met Rei at the bottom of the steps, looking no worse for wear. But Rei knew. She always knew these days, didn't she?
"...Minako," just her name was enough to rekindle the beat in her heart, "we'll protect her."
The warm, slender fingers gripping her own gave fuel to the promise, even if it felt like a lie.
They met Usagi at her front door, and while Rei put on the act of scolding the princess for studies--who could possibly think of studying at a time like this--Minako took a long, deep breath.
"Uu-saa-gii~!"
She tried to be chipper, playing her own role as the overprotective leader. The man walking his dog could be the enemy, after all.
"Or they could be posing as some nice lady separating her trash!" Rei joined in, nodding towards the poor woman on the street, smoldering amethyst eyes meeting Minako's.
Minako felt the jolt, the feeling of someone watching too intently. She knew Rei could feel it too. With a quick scan while her princess was occupied, Minako searched for the threat.
"Or," she began, metal in her voice as she locked eyes with the intruder, "they might be pretending to be an electrician to spy on you from a utility pole!"
She pointed with force, the crescent beam on the edge of her sense if she just took one step further.
When Usagi turned her gaze skyward, Rei laughed loudly, a forced noise that was unnatural but enough to draw the princess' attention.
"That would never happen!"
Usagi giggled, holding back a sniffle as they continued on.
Minako met Rei's eyes again, strong and unwavering.
"You never know!"
They continued the charade all the way to the high school, trading off with Haruka and Michiru at the gate as the two older girls walked Usagi the rest of the way to class.
"Are you ready?"
There was her Mars, stoic and to the point. It almost brought a real smile to Minako's face.
"To the roof then."
--
The emergency stairs were quiet, empty save for their footfalls.
"You know, Rei," Minako began, voice betraying her own fear of what they would meet in mere moments, "that uniform looks great on you. Who knew my uniform would fit you so perfectly?"
She caught Rei's gaze, calm and expectant.
"It reminds me of that time I snuck into your school."
Rei smiled, and Minako felt the fire of courage build just a little bit more.
"It would have been nice..." Minako turned in the doorway at the sound of Rei's voice, looking back at the woman she considered her closest friend, "If I had gone to this school, I could have been with you more. With all of you."
The sky was dark, cloudier than it should have been. Minako felt her hair stand on end, her volleyball uniform offering little to shield her from the chill.
"There's no going back after this battle. It's like nothing else we've done before..."
"Stop!"
Minako couldn't take it, not the cryptic words, not the stoic calm, not the fear or the pain that was coming. She stepped into Rei's space, clasping her hands and tracing her lips with a finger.
"We made a pact. We would rescue them both. We would protect the princess. This is no different than anything else we've done."
She lowered her finger, but Rei's hands tightened around Minako's.
"Everything will go back to normal. We can lead high school girl lives, and find love, and go on dates, and work hard! We'll find those dreams, and I'll accept nothing less!"
They were close now, foreheads together as Minako whispered her promise to no one but the two of them.
"Rei, I..."
"Stop fooling yourself."
In an instant, they broke apart, transformation wands in hand and ready to fight.
"Starlights," Minako grit the word out like a curse, unmoving.
"You both already have someone in your hearts, who you live for."
She could feel Rei tense next to her at Star Healer's words, but Minako couldn't help the grin that pulled at her lips.
"You know... you're right."
She reached for Rei's waist, leaning heavily into the other girl. Minako's heart jolted when Rei met her, holding just as tight.
"We don't need men..." the stoic voice was hypnotic, almost electric to Minako's ears.
"Is that so bad?"
It didn't actually matter what Fighter, Healer, or Maker's answer was. She felt the flames rise up next to her before being surrounded by her own bright, metallic burst of light.
She was Venus in the next breath, powerful and confident.
And ready to fight.
Or at least... that's what she thought.
Maker, Healer, Fighter... they weren't allies, but they weren't the enemy...
Galaxia's power was blinding, cold and sharp as it tore away at every hair, every thread, every nerve. Venus groped at the air, desperately searching out her second in command—her Mars.
This was too familiar but so much worse.
The warmth of fire was the last tangible sensation Minako felt, before there was nothing.
Everything was dark. Cold. Just like-
"Rise."
The sultry voice was commanding, and Venus felt herself awaken for the first time in what felt like centuries.
The gauntlets were dark, and tight against her skin, but it didn't hurt. Nothing felt... full.
Did she have a purpose? A mission...?
"Gah-!" Pain tore through her, and Venus toppled to her knees. All around her were the faded, darkly worn skirts of others like her...
"Do you remember your mission?"
"Yes, Lady Galaxia!"
It rang out like an empty prayer from the others. And her own lips too. She stood once more.
"Erase the light of hope. She will be here shortly..."
Golden heels clicked across the marble stone. Who were they? Who was the light? Who...
Red and black and amethyst invaded her vision, the other soldier cutting a path to where they would lay in wait.
"Ma...rs..."
The bracelets around her wrist sparked, dark and painful, and the flame went out.
Kill Sailor Moon, and steal her crystal.
The orders were clear.
Venus watched with something resembling pride as Mars unleashed her attacks against their opponents. The rabbit's guard were nothing compared to them.
The others attacked relentlessly too, and the dark power coursing through Venus' veins compelled her to step forward after all of them.
"Venus love and galaxia shock!!"
It was... different. Not quite right. Though every thought like that brought more pain coursing through the bracelets to her nerves.
But at least she was side by side with Mars again.
Venus felt so confident. So assured. They would win for Lady Galaxia and then...
And then...?
"No...Serenity...Mars...?"
The world tumbled past her lips, eyes scanning frantically for...
Cobalt met amethyst with a promise.
Next time. Finally, next time.
The light washed over them as the princess freed them from the darkness, one final time.
VI. For the first two weeks, they all stayed together at the Outers' mansion. It was almost like a sleepover, but the desperate, frightened, yet palpable relief running through them all set it apart. They would never be the same, after Galaxia. But it would make them stronger.
They had to go back to reality, eventually. One by one they each returned home, quiet and introspective of what the future held.
Minako missed Artemis, but couldn't begrudge her loyal mentor for seeking out time with his soulmate after the ordeal they had gone through.
Rei returned to the shrine, reassuring her grandfather that everything would be alright now. The Chaos had passed. Life could return to peace, at least for now.
And the shrine grounds didn't tend themselves.
Minako couldn't sleep. The warmth of her fellow soldiers, her destined family, was too strong, and now left an aching absence in her chest. The tiles of the roof weren't comfortable, but she could deal with a little discomfort.
She had died again, after all.
The city lights were so bright, a constant, with a distant thrum of noise. Minako felt restless. What does a soldier do with peace?
Rei clasped her hands tightly together before the large rope, praying. She didn't want to fight anymore.
She didn't want to die again.
But she would in the next breath if it meant protection of the Princess.
It helped knowing the others felt the same, that she would never be alone in this destiny. Rei took her time wandering the courtyard, the moonlight and breeze a comfortable companion in the silence the shrine offered.
Destiny. Companionship.
Love.
Beyond her duties, beyond the drive Mars had granted her, the desire to be near another coursed through her veins like the heavy beat of a drum.
The footsteps coming up the stairs were ones she knew well--too well--to be alarmed. Instead she waited, eyes purposely trained away towards the trees.
Minako's breathing was labored from running the whole way; off the roof, through the streets, up the thousand steps to the one person she knew would understand.
Or, the one person she hoped would understand.
Rei turned slowly, wind pushing her hair past her face, shimmering darkly in the low lights. She took in Minako's desperate state with calm eyes.
"Rei-chan," her voice had a distinct waver of vulnerability, cobalt eyes shining bright in the moonlight. "Is it next time yet?"
Rei stepped closer, hand anchoring at Minako's short-clad hip. "Minako..."
She tilted her head so slightly, breath warm against skin in the cool night air.
Soft lips hid a longing and intensity that had built over centuries.
The feeling like falling from a cliff's edge; the Love Me Chain her only tether.
Passion and heat, an enveloping warmth that only Rei held inside of her...all of it brought to the surface with the kiss.
They didn't pull far apart, only enough for cobalt to meet amethyst, seeking answers to questions their hearts had been asking since the dawn of the millennia.
"Next time... I'm not waiting so long."
Rei laughed in response, low and soft, stealing another breathy kiss from Minako's full lips.
"No more 'next time'. I promise."

I suffer for my art
For an article appearing on thefandomentals.com, I actually sat down (with a lot of booze) and subjected myself to watching the Lightning Thief movie again. Here are unfiltered live notes, so everyone can suffer with me.
(Why yes I do channel cinema sins. just a little bit)
·         The first 10 seconds do away with the one core rule of the franchise; as Poseidon for some reason steps out of a river, a fisherman SEES him. The books avoid this by having a thing called “mist” exist that keeps mortals from seeing ancient greek mythology stuff going on. Unless, of course, that particular fisherman was blessed with clear sight and is destined to be the next oracle. Suck it, Rachel.
·         Oh god, Sean Bean is in this movie, and he doesn’t even die. That alone says everything about the quality you need to know.
·         Why the fuck are they meeting in mortal forms on the empire state building? Yes, that’s where Olympus is, but Olympus is metaphysically ABOVE the fucking building, not the deck they’re on, which would be crowded at any and all times of day.
·         Okay. So they meet here to discuss exposition. Zeus knows Poseidon has a son. Zeus is also to blame for Poseidon never contacting said son. I mean, technically it’s a pact the two of you made with your other brother after he spawned Hitler and a world war happened, but, uh, is that even canon to this movie?
·         Okay, Sean Bean establishes the summer solstice as a deadline. Keep that in mind. SUMMER SOLSTICE.
·         Why do we put the plot into the first three seconds of the film? Was Columbus afraid we’d fall asleep after this and wouldn’t be able to catch up?
·         Okay real talk Logan LErman would have been the perfect Percy about 5 years before this movie was made. He grew up a little too baby faced to still be a good fit for battle hardened don’t fuck with me Percy of the follow up series, but still, such a missed opportunity.
·         Okay so Percy regularly hangs out at the bottom of the swimming pool for 7 minutes to think. That’s, ah. Weird. You know. If you do that regularly, people might notice. And Grover, whose job is to keep him safe, and also to technically keep him from realizing he’s not quite human, is encouraging this. Because. Sure. Why not.
·         OKAY. SO. They kept the NAME of the school, but not the boarding school aspect. They turned Mrs. Dodds into an English teacher so she could make a joke about the word fury in Othello. And they choose to establish the dyslexia and ADHD thing during dialogue while not actually showing any ADHD symptoms. I can’t quite talk about how well they do with the dyslexia, but from what we see, it’s the letters just fogging over and randomly turning into Greek letters which is not how it is described in the books at all. Seems more like Percy needs glasses here.
·         Oh my fucking god. Gabe comes home, sits down in the uncomfortable kitchen chair, demands beer and smacks Sally on the ass, and both Percy and Sally treat him like a rude house guest maybe, not like the abusive asshole he’s actually supposed to be. Percy even stands up to him and thinks it’s necessary to explain that this is his mother and he will not have her sexualized in this kitchen. Gah.
·         How can this house both be Gabe’s while at the same time, he never held down a job?
·         Also Percy comes into the pretty house at the ground floor and calls for his mother who is like on the third floor. Is that entire house theirs? If so, damn, Gabe is a rich unemployed white trash person.
·         Oh and now Poseidon just randomly wanders around New York to stalk his son amazing
·         Percy wears headphones during the plot related exposition at the MOA
·         At least he’s fidgeting now. That’s progress.
·         OKAY. So Ms. Dodds pulls Percy aside in the middle of the lesson, and Grover and Mr. Brunner can totally leave too to help him. They also cut the action sequence but sure, whatever.
·         Percy gets weirdly ableist when Grover says he’s his protector. Like, in the books Percy’s objection to that was that Grover was constantly being bullied and Percy had to stand up for him.
·         In fact, Percy and Grover could possibly pass for cool kids here; neither of them look like losers. Percy is pretty and has amazing abs. That’s… Completely contrary to how book!Percy feels. Like, he gets better once he reaches the age where boys stop looking like cave trolls, but, uh, that takes a while.
·         Then they go home to Sally, Grover downs Gabe, and they run off, and Gabe’s poker buddies just let them be. What.
·         They start conversation about the father while the sun is setting in New York City, and only commence it in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere
·         The minotaur who just toppled their car is suddenly all the way up the hill. Wow.
·         Sexist edit: In the books, Percy’s mom explains to him how to fight the minotaur. Here, he just kinda figures it out himself.
·         Okay. Two dumb things: With the mom evaporated just before the camp gates, why do they fight the minotaur at all? In the books, Percy is half a mile away from the camp when the showdown happens and he fights to save himself and his mom. Here, he just charges out there to avenge his mom even though the magical gate is right there.
·         Second: instead of going for his sword, the actual weapon, Percy goes for the horn stuck in the tree, almost getting skewered himself. Now, the narrative for some reason rewards him for this, but this is just dumb. And there was also no indication that the horn was going to work better than the sword, which is also right there and not stuck in a tree.
·         The fury roughed him up more than the minotaur did, and yet this is the part where he falls unconscious
·         Grover is BUFF
·         He’s supposed to be a scrawny loser kid with anxiety issues
·         Also nursing Percy is Annabeth’s part. This is important. Ish.
·         Yeah, okay, Grover giving Percy the tour is… Unfortunate. In the books, there were actual adults giving him these talks, and also Annabeth, and you get the feeling Satyrs are veeeeery low on the pecking order. Also, Mr Brunner was there to actually take him seriously
·         Also, the camp just looks wrong. Way wrong.
·         UGH
·         UUUUUGH
·         OKAY
·         We’re introduced to BRUNETTE Annabeth while a bunch of people do badly choreographed battle around her. This is wrong. This is so wrong.
·         Annabeth is good in a fight, yeah. But her main asset is her brain. And the first glimpses we get of her is taking care of Percy, both nursing him and giving him the tour, because she piecing together how he fits into a prophecy that concerns her and is her ticket out of there.
·         Also they kind of combine her role in this movie with that of Clarisse, who is a daughter of Ares and a bully like the ones Percy never had to face here. I have no idea why they did that, and it’s even more ridiculous since Clarisse appears in the sequel.
·         Why did they have to put more than one centaur in here, they’re supposed to be party animals roaming the countryside, EXCEPT for Mr. Brunner who is Chiron fuck everything
·         Okay. They also conflated the daughters of Aphrodite with the naiads that are around, and both groups would NEVER give Grover the time of day. Buuut I guess considering where this leads, we do have to play up his sex appeal, huh?
·         OKAY. The cabins in the books are actual fancy and pretty houses, befitting Greek gods. Being claimed by a god is also a special thing, and the fact that it is special contributes greatly to the 5 book story arc. Here, they just shove Percy into a weird wooden structure full of sailing paraphernalia specifically built for him.
·         Okay so apparently the only danger kids of the big 3 pose is making the other big 3 jealous for some reason, not because they literally kicked off the world wars
·         And apparently, Gabe’s smell isn’t supposed to keep monsters away, but the other gods?!
·         Well I mean everyone seems to have known about Percy, sooo
·         Also Percy has no way to integrate into camp or anything , has no connection to any of these people, anything
·         Luke is missing a scar, and is also completely creepy from the get go
·         Why do we keep getting meaningful close ups of Annabeth, what is she supposed to mean to anyone at this point
·         Why was she fighting with a knife minutes ago and is nnow using a bow and arrow, it’s Athena not Artemis
·         This game of cpture the flag is stupid
·         And also undercuts Annabeth’s actual point
·         In the books this involved like tactics and shit
·         But like, I commend the script for making Percy lampshade how ridiculous this all is
·         It’s just that capture the flag had a narrative purpose, too, which is null and voide when he was already claimed
·         Also Percy is such an idiot for just going for the flag like that
·         Annabeth has boob plate
·         "My mother is goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. You know what that means?" - IT MEANS YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO TAKE OFF YOUR HELMET WHILE FACING AN ENEMY WITH A SWORD.
·         AND ALSO YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO MONOLOGUE AT AN OPPONENT
·         WHAT IS HER BEEF WITH PERCY? Yes, he rudely stared at you for a while, but why do you need to cut him up like that?!
·         She just beats him down and nobody does a thing they all just stand around staring what the fuck
·         And then everyone cheers when she’s done beating down the completely untrained new kid?! WHAT THE FUCK
·         ArE YOU ALL BRAAVOSI WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON
·         THERE ARE BLUE FORCES RIGHT BEHIND YOUR FLAG WHY ARE THEY NOT DOING ANYTHING
·         Percy, who already knows he’s a son of Poseidon needs to be told by divine intervention to go to the water, the only place he actually liked before
·         Brief contact with water then turns him into superman and has him actually sort of beat Annabeth
·         Though not as cruelly as she beat him
·         And then everyone just lets him walk to the flag. Why the fuck.
·         You know who actually figured out how the water powers worked? Annabeth!
·         You know who actually made a battle plan to get the flag for the blue team? ANNABETH!
·         Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah
·         Percy gets party invitations. The fuck.
·         Annabeth chases them away and then flirts with him for some reason. Percy is also completely turned on by a public beat down.
·         “I definitely have strong feelings for you” whaaaat the fuck. Whaaaaaaat the fuck. This is soooo weird.
·         WHERE IS MY FIVE BOOK AWKWARD PUBERTY SLOW BURN
·         Oh hello flame demon. How nice of you to just show up like that and deliver the plot to us
·         Okay. So. Hades wants the bolt, but outright states that he doesn’t have it. So far, the plans are to talk to one of two enraged gods and convince them he didn’t take the bolt. That’s…Not much of a plan at all unless someone here knows how to cast a zone of truth spell or something
·         Hades now comes along and offers his mom in exchange for the bolt, instead of being framed for everything like in the books, and the camp counsellors just… leave Percy alone after that?
·         Like, not only Grover, but the random chick who brutally tore into him in front of a crowd figured out he was going to bail without ever receiving a tiny bit of training, guys. This is stupid.
·         Annabeth wants a quest. Sweetheart, this is not a quest. There is a protocol to these things, as you would know. A god has to assign it, there has to be a clear objective, and at least according to camp regulations, a prophecy, and the entire thing has to be official. But sure. Tag along with the random unprepared kid who’s going to get his mom.
·         OH THAT’S JUST GREAT YEAH Annabeth would not know how to get to the underworld, she has to go ask A MAN for info SOMEONE SHOOT ME
·         Luke is in a completely empty cabin with a gaming console and flat screens and pokes fun at the ren faire feel
·         Luke, Annabeth has daddy issues completely independent from her godly parent but okay fine
·         YEAH LUKE LECTURE US ON GREEK MYTHOLOGY
·         NO NOT LIKE THAT
·         Okay so my personal interpretation of Persephone is more that of an ancient times beauty and the beast kind of deal, so that she’s not entirely unhappy
·         Also like, Greek mythology has a maaaaaajor Madonna/whore complex. Maaaaajor. And while she’s not one of the chastity goddesses, Persephone kiiiinda doesn’t fall in the dedicated adulteress part of that spectrum
·         But foreshadowing. I get it.
·         Convenient map is convenient
·         Super literal soundtrack
·         Also they still haven’t told us where the underworld is or how to get in there, just that it’s easy
·         “Let’s split up, check everything” Greeaaat plan, Percy. And then just go looking around without actually looking thoroughly
·         Now Annabeth is dragged along screaming and Grover actually knows how is greatuncle died and is the one to figure out what’s going on. Great.
·         Like, in the books, he still finds his uncle Ferdinand, but no one ever knew what happened to him because he got lost during a search at a place where no one really returns from
·         Annabeth is the first one to figure out that the nice woman giving them burgers and asking them to pose for pictures is not their friend and saves both Grover and Percy, and Percy figures out who she is himself immediately after, before the veil comes off and the snakes start hissing
·         Oh, Uma Thurman, you are too good for this
·         I need to watch Kill Bill after this just to calm down
·         It’s weirdly cathartic to fight your own murderous instincts
·         CALL ATTENTION TO ANNABETH’S HAIR JUST TO RUB IT IN WHY DON’T YOU
·         Annabeth knows this story dammit
·         Also villain monologue
·         I dunno, Uma, you’re still pretty hot like that
·         At least Percy figures out the reflection thing
·         Ugh Annabeth has to get rescued
·         How can you sense him if you were surprised by his presence before?
·         Percy says he can look at her reflection and then throws away the phone he’s using to look at her when he actually sees her
·         Where the fuck did they get the car
·         How did Annabeth learn to drive at camp
·         She can sense him, sees him coming, and he still gets to cut off her head from behind
·         And then she conveniently carried around the pearl with her
·         DID THIS MOVIE JUST IMPLY PERSEPHONE GOT FREAKY WITH MEDUSA?!
·         How do they get a motel room, do they actually have credit cards or something? What the fuck.
·         Yeah okay I don’t feel creepy at all looking at Logan Lerman’s naked torso some more
·         So I guess Percy’s ocean powers in this movie work like waterbending and can also heal other people
·         How he figured that out? No idea. Why he doesn’t start carrying around water everywhere he goes for just this purpose?
·         And aaaalso I think the more significant story for the animosity between Athena and Poseidon would be how he fucked Medusa in her temple, but sure. The story about Athens.
·         Book!Annabeth, when prompted, brings up both, by the way.
·         Why is it forbidden for all gods to interact with their kids?
·         DID SHE SAY SALLY UGLIANO?! SALLY JACKSON NEVER TOOK HIS NAME AND THAT IS FUCKING IMPORTANT
·         Why is there laundry service in the middle of the night?
·         And how did they get to check out after that?
·         Yeah okay this Parthenon business is completely not in the books
·         “I wonder if she really looks like that” Okay okay cutting out the field trip is fucking stupid
·         No one checks the bathrooms before closing up the place?
·         And no on turns off the lights in the bathrooms?
·         Cleaning staff ruining the day yet again
·         Every time Annabeth shoots anything in this movie I die a little on the inside
·         Also hey, there are more black people in this movie than Grover and Persephone, and they all work in maintenance
·         Ugh, son of Poseidon taking to the air
·         Aaaand the maintenance squad has been possessed
·         Annabeth gets to point out the obvious, Percy is on fire like it’s no big deal, and Hail Hydra isn’t even a thing yet. At least not in the main stream.
·         Flying shoes are now fully attuned and working for him
·         Annabeth shoots shit again
·         At one point, it is a plot point that children not of Apollo aren’t that good at archery
·         And Annabeth in the books fights with a knife, an invisibility cap, and her wits, and never shoots shit
·         Medusa petrifies the hydra through fire
·         Okay then
·         Where do they get their money for food from
·         That’s a major obstacle in the books
·         The credit cards they totally have?
·         And the gas money for that car
·         Okay so the underworld is actually visually striking and could have had potential
·         Hades is actually vengeful and out to kill the other gods
·         Persephone mentions her allotted time away from him, but is still there before the solstice.
·         She double crosses Hades because she hates him and shit, it’s weird
·         And then she hits on what for all intents and purposes is an underaged boy
·         The staredown is sooo unsatisfying and thematically rrelevant
·         Luke just conveniently happened to flutter around the empire state building close to midnight because….?
·         Does this camp have no security?
·         The fight is badly, badly choreographed
·         Luke also just has delusions of grandeur and wants to ascend to gdhood or something
·         “You’Re no hero” – actually, per definition, he is.
·         Also, this fucking lightning bolt is supposed to be more powerful than nuclear bombs, STOP USING IT IDIOTS
·         And then Luke just kinda chills on top of the building, waiting for Percy to come and angage him in aerial combat like a video game boss
·         Okay if you’re using the lightning bolt, fucking use it
·         HOW CAN PERCY’S SWORD REFLECT IT DAMMIT
·         No, really, if a celestial bronze sword can do that, what’ so great about it in the first place
·         They use this thing like a flashier version of a tazer
·         Also, they’re right underneath Olympus, you’d think the gods might actually intervene this close to their home turf
·         Luke then uses Percy’s lack of proficiency at aerial combat to suggest he might be no son of Posedong after all… Which I agre with, actually, because Zesu would blast any sons of Poseidon out of the air immediately
·         He also effectively reminds Percy of his waterbending powers, so he can make water tanks explode for dramatic final battle poses
·         The bolt somehow doesn’t electrocute Luke when caught in a tidal wave
·         Water somehow knocks Luke’s shoes off
·         Mortals are allowed to go to Olympus
·         Ah wait, just to ride the elevator up there
·         Athena has a random British accent
·         And the gods are arguing, completely oblivious to what’s going on, but also totally prepared for imminent war
·         With each other in a council chamber
·         Riiight
·         Also the movie gave absolutely no reason for Luke to be angry
·         Athena and Poseidon are conveniently already standing
·         Zeus just like that agrees to bring Grover from the underworld WHICH IS NOT EVEN HIS DOMAIN
·         Poseidon gets to talk to Percy and doesn’t even shrink down to do it. They never say why the gods aren’t allowed to talk to their children
·         …Gods become human when they spend too much time with mortals? AND THAT’S WHY THEY’RE NOT ALLOWED TO VISIT THEIR CHILDREN?! WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT?!?!!?!?!
·         Zeus and Poseidon are RIVALS. Godhood can be BESTOWED. The rational thing to do would have been to let him become human and appoint a new god of the sea loyal to Zeus
·         You’d think some tactical minded deity who doesn’t like Poseidon very much would have thought of that
·         Sally can just kick out Gabe, just like that
·         Chiron is totally into students disobeying. Let word of that get around, and everyone will run away and be eaten by monsters, defeating the entire purpose of the camp
·         Gd dammit you kids have no chemistry and with the intense eyes and same hair color look more like siblings
·         Making this almost kiss really uncomfortable.
·         Also, how is Percy suddenly able to stand up against her clunky pirouette fighting without having stepped into water first?
·         Ugh

“Congratulations, Ri Chan and Hakyeon. You’re pregnant with a baby boy.” The sonographer smiled at us. I put my hands to my over my mouth in shock and looked at Hakyeon through my tears to see matching tears in his eyes as a huge smile burst onto his face.
“Thank you.” He said to her and kissed my stomach, then immediately pulled back and wiped his mouth off with a look of disgust, causing me to laugh. “Don’t laugh at me..” He pouted, before his smile came back.
The sonographer handed me a towel to wipe off the goo on my stomach. She printed out the pictures of our son and the rest of the appointment flew by in the blink of an eye.
“So have you two thought of any baby names?” She asked at the end.
“Noah. We were going to name him Taelee if he were a girl.” I told her, smiling and holding Hakyeon’s hand while rubbing my baby bump.
“Cha Noah. That’s cute.” She commented, smiling. “Well Noah looks healthy and adorable. Just a couple more months. So as you know, that was your last ultrasound. Now unless you go past your due date, we won’t have to put you through this again. That is, until you’re next baby.”
“Thank you.” Hakyeon and I said at the same time. We stood up and walked to the car, feeling on cloud nine.
“Well, your mom was right.” I told Hakyeon, laughing.
“Of course she was. She always is.” He smiled, grabbing my hand and kissing it.
“Should we go see her tonight? Tell her it’s a boy?” I asked him, pulling out my phone.
“No, she and my dad are busy tonight. We can tell them later.” He told me.
“The baby shower is soon anyway, maybe we should keep it a surprise from everyone until then.” I smiled.
“That’s a good idea.” He smiled back at me. “Now what does Mommy and Noah want to eat?”
I sat in a chair with my laptop open in front of me, writing down different ideas about baby showers down in a notebook. Hakyeon kissed my cheek as he walked past to the front door.
“Where are you going?” I asked him, not looking away from what I was writing.
“My brother wanted to hang out.”
“Okay, tell him I said hi. And don’t tell him about Noah yet!”
  “Of course.” He laughed.
I sat there writing for another 2 hours before I leaned back in the chair and sighed, cracking my knuckles. Standing up, I walked over to the much more comfortable recliner and sat down, turning on the TV. Yawning, I reclined back and pulled my sleeves over my hands before getting slightly more comfortable. I closed my eyes as the front door opened.
“Oh, you’re back?” I said, opening my eyes and getting up. Hakyeon didn’t answer, nor did he walk in from the door. “Hakyeon?” I called out, walking over to the door.
The door was wide open, but no one was there. Furrowing my eyebrows, I walked to the door and closed it before turning back around. Suddenly something grabbed my shoulders, causing me to scream and look back. A grey woman with sharp teeth and horns stood behind me with an evil grin.
“Okay! Okay! I’m sorry!” Hakyeon’s voice came from her mouth. I stepped back from her, rubbing my eyes. “Are you alright?” His voice came again. Opening my eyes, I saw she was gone and Hakyeon was in her place.
“H-huh..? Oh..yeah. I’m fine. Just really tired, I guess.” I said, looking around, still confused about the woman.
“Well, let’s go to bed then. You did eat right?” He asked me, holding my arms and kissing my cheek.
“No, I haven’t. I’m not hungry though.” I told him, rubbing my belly.
“Are you feeling sick?” He asked me, putting his hands on my belly.
“No, I’m just not hungry.” I told him, walking away.
“Wow, that’s a first. Usually, Noah is always hungry if not you.”
  “Mmhmm.”
“Are you mad at me? For going to see Taekwoon?” He asked me, hugging me from behind.
“No, no. I thought I saw something. I’m just really tired. I promise.” I assured him, putting my hands on his hips.
“Alright then, let’s go to bed.” He said, walking with me to the bedroom.
“I love you.” We said at the same time once we got into bed, causing both of us to laugh.
Closing my eyes, I felt someone grab my ankles and pull me out of Hakyeon’s arms. My eyes flew open as I screamed and tried to grab Hakyeon.
“Ri Chan!” He yelled, reaching for me as I was pulled off the bed and towards the door.
I looked down at who was dragging me to see the woman from before. Behind her I saw a giant hole in the floor of our house.
“Hakyeon!” I screamed for him as he stumbled his way out of the bedroom.
“Ri Chan! Imp! Stop!” He yelled as the woman dragged me into the hole.
“Let me go! Who are you?!” I yelled at her, trying to pull my ankles free and trying to protect my belly.
“Silent, wench!” She yelled back at me, yanking me harder. “Eris! I have her!” She yelled out in front of her.
“Good. Now get out of my sight.” A soft voice said and the gray woman let me go before disappearing into the shadows.
I held my belly and looked around. A hand with gold bangles and rings was held out to me. I looked up to see a gorgeous black haired woman standing above me. I took her hand as she helped me stand.
“Who are you..?” I asked her, cautious.
“You don’t know of me, wench?” She asked, frowning.
“N..no. Why are you calling me ‘wench’?”
“Because, wench, I am the goddess Eris.”
  “E-Eris?”
“Yes. Quit stuttering, it’s annoying. I do not understand how my nephew can stand you. Regardless, I do not care about you, but the child in you.” I covered my bump and glared at her.
“What do you want with my son?”
“Your child does not deserve to grow up with a measly human such as yourself. Therefore, once you give birth, I will take him from you and give you to my uncle to play with.” She smiled, walk over to the ornate marble throne and sitting down.
  “I don’t understand.”
“This is the thing with you simple-minded humans. You never understand. No matter. You will be taken care of by sirens until you are ready to give birth. I will see you in another 10 fortnights, that is, unless I can convince Hestia to speed up your pregnancy. Take her away.”
“No!” I yelled as the gray woman came back and started pulling me away.
“Shut up!” The gray woman yelled.
“Imp! Eris! Bring her back here.” A kind voice called out.
“Ah, Hestia, nice of you to show up.”
“You didn’t give me a choice.”
“Well, there’s the human. Get to it.”
“You want her to give birth in your throne room?”
“Fine. Imp, take the human and Hestia to another room.” Eris said.
The gray woman lead me back into the throne room where I saw a short haired brunette standing next to Eris with tattoos spiraling down her arm.
  “A..Amber?” I questioned.
  “Hey Ri Chan.”
  “You’re Hestia?”
“Long story.” She said, taking me from Imp.
“No funny business.” Imp hissed at Amber.
“Threaten me again, minion and see what happens.” Amber warned her. Imp shrunk away and walked out of the room.
“What’s happening?” I asked Amber as she led me to a bed.
“It’s not my place to completely explain, but I’m the goddess Hestia. She is Eris. She’s my niece. Ares is her brother and they both enjoy the pain of others. So she is taking your child away from you. I can’t explain why. But I promise you I will keep your child safe. We can’t avoid this part though. I’m sorry.” She said, putting her hand on my belly and immediately it started to swell and feel heavier. I could feel Noah moving and getting bigger. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain. I tried to pry her hands off me as the pains got more and more painful. “I know it hurts, I’m so sorry.”
“Hestia, I’m here.” I heard a whispered familiar voice through my grunts of pain.
“Good, you’re just in time. We need to get her comfortable.” Amber’s voice soothed.
“Ri Chan. I’m here. It’s okay.” I looked over to see Hakyeon holding my arm.
“Hakye- AHHHH!” I screamed and dug my nails into Amber’s hand.
“Okay, she’s ready. Get her in the most comfortable position possible.” Amber said walking away to grab towels. “Once the baby comes, you need to take them both. Your mother, Athena, Artemis, and I will handle Eris.”
“Thank you, Hestia.” He said, helping me lay down.
“Aphrodite was the one who came up with the idea.”
“Tell her that she’ll meet her grandchild soon enough.”
  “Grandchild?!” I asked him, panicking.
“I should have told you this sooner, but I’m not who you think I am. I’ll tell you more once this is over.” He assured me.
“Ri Chan, I’m sorry for this, but I need to lift up your dress and you need to give birth.” Amber said.
A lot of pushing, a sore throat, and a crushed Hakyeon hand later, my beautiful son was born. Amber handed him to Hakyeon then gave him a look before looking back at me as the dark brown room started blur.
“Oh no.” Amber whispered. “Eros you need to hurry and get her to a hospital. She’s hemorrhaging.”
“Eros..?” I mumbled, looking at my husband.
“I told you Hades will take her.” Eris’ voice came from the doorway. “You can keep the child as long as she dies.”
“Take Noah.” I looked at Hakyeon as Noah started to cry.
“No..” He said, handing my son to me. “I’m keeping them both.”
The room was suddenly filled with three more women. One blonde woman with bright blue eyes and two brunettes with green eyes.
“Eris, you have overstepped your bounds.” Athena said.
“Step away and call off the deal with Hades.” Artemis said, aiming her bow at Eris’ heart.
“Too late.” Eris smiled as she looked at the bed to see a blonde man standing over Ri Chan.
  “Jaehwan..” Ri Chan whispered.
“My real name is Hades. It’s time to go, Ri Chan.”
